Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Giraffe King's Network. This is the Don Levertor Show with the Stugat's Podcast. Jessica has come in here radiant today and I believe it's to laugh again at how quickly a postseason run is extinguished. I'm devastated for my Marlin. That was a terrible game. It was not a great feeling to have the Marlins extinguished as rapidly as possible. The state of Florida did not represent well in the playoffs. I'm so sick of these marlins. These flanagan cups.
Starting point is 00:00:51 You can't be sick of the flanagan's cups. I know, I need that to give my dog a bath. How are you doing, Daniel? You're raised. My beloved raise, the state of Florida played four games and scored three runs total. Both teams that the raise made four errors in their first game. Four, it's a franchise record. Four, the raise have gone like 35 scoreless innings in the post season. I knew something was wrong. I didn't watch the game, but I knew something was wrong when I didn't get my daily check in text from Dan to prove that he was watching the race
Starting point is 00:01:25 I know and trouble and paradise every every day for the last two months. I've texted him a photo of me watching raise baseball I loved that team But what happened to the Marlins yesterday Reveals to me again just how much and reveals to me again, just how much and how different the standards are in this city for our teams, right? Because that is indisputably a wildly successful Marlon season that got extinguished as fast and as painfully as can happen.
Starting point is 00:01:58 Not close games, not interesting, not scoring, and oh, that looks fun. The other team just dragging our corpse all over the field, our season all over the field as Phil Delphia that place was electric. We did lose our two best pitchers. I just feel like that needs to be stated. This could have been a lot different but yeah it sucks. Still a good season though like it's such a boring thing when you lose in the playoffs just to be like good season though. But I'm gonna do it good season. Good job Marlins. Yeah good season. Yeah. I do have do it. Good season. Good job, Marlins. Yeah, good season. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:26 I do have a hot take though, which is watching that game last night. I'd rather my team just not make the post season that losing two games on the road like that. It feels really bad. It's, yes, it's, how hot is that take? Because losing that way, Tampa was especially depressing. Those are the smallest playoff crowds in a century
Starting point is 00:02:46 in that sport. That team got there with no enthusiasm. You play 162 games, and at the end, it's like getting right to the finish line of a marathon and you get diarrhea and you can't finish. Like that does not feel like a postseason run hate when that happens.
Starting point is 00:03:02 You'd like to make the postseason though, because you get the shirts. You get the shirts to say, take October and you pray to God that fanatics printed them right? Well, you also get the memes and the videos that go viral. Let's have promote for the first time, rising local broad cast star, Jeremy Tashay's podcast. He, uh, he went and talked to jazz chism and he baited jazz chism into an answer that
Starting point is 00:03:29 now Philadelphia fans are sharing because that grand slam last night. The grand slam that what are you laughing about Jessica? I'm not laughing, but the grand slam was the moment where I felt really confident that I'm glad my Cubs didn't even have to be in this position because I don't want to be embarrassed on that stage. No offense to the Marlins. I jumped in to our live stream last night
Starting point is 00:03:52 when we were down three nothing because I'm like, all right, you know what, they need me. It's time for me to save the season. He put his name as the savior. And as soon as I got there, they gave up the Grand Slam. We'll get to that in a second. What, because there is some video of you guys soiling the evening that is fairly funny.
Starting point is 00:04:06 But before we do that, the Jeremy Tashay, well, this is definitely funny. This is not fairly funny. Jeremy Tashay, Philadelphia is really enjoying that he baited jazz chism looking, you know, a cover boy for the video game, like star of the team,
Starting point is 00:04:21 brash and bold. Here's Jeremy Tashay, before the series started, what was going to happen to Philadelphia? Because nobody thought we would, and we just liked that. And we just liked that. We just liked that. And nobody thought we would,
Starting point is 00:04:36 and that's what we liked the most. We love that. Nobody thinks we're going to be supposed to be here. That fuels us even more. Like, if you think that fuels the players, you should think about our manager and our coach and staff. That fuels them to the team. So I feel like it just makes us go more and no team likes the lights more than the Marlins. I could tell you that. I love that. I love that. He loves the lights. I love the lights. So
Starting point is 00:05:01 they're love the lights. You didn't sure. No, I love the lights. So this're love us the lights. You, you dang sure no, I love the light. So, this is what we live for. And we can't wait to get to the starting. 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, maybe Thursday, maybe the Marlon's take care of his business in the first couple games. No, Thursday nailed it. That's the, that's the killer at the end. There will be no need for a game on Thursday. Of course, the Marlon season is over. They don't have to play on Thursday. Jeremy Tashay's podcast is Miami Mike Dup, by the way, if you want to laugh at jazz chism.
Starting point is 00:05:32 And Jeremy, Jeremy was very, very overeager. He is, I don't want to be a joy squasher. He's more joyful than anyone we have around here. He's so earnest. I know his nickname is Jair Bear. I didn't realize he was a Pender Bear. There's a lot of Pendering in that clip, folks. A lot of Pendering.
Starting point is 00:05:51 He is the new face of young journalism in this market, somebody who will cheerlead for the athletes and be happy to be around them, enjoy being around them. So he was thrilled that jazz chism gave him the sound that now Phil Delphi is making fun of. That's the last time you were that excited to be around the Nathlete. Oh my God, it's been so long. It really has.
Starting point is 00:06:14 The reason I'm looking at it is because I'm like, oh, I recognize that boy. I used to be that in my early time. Give us a name, Dan. I mean, have you ever know all of them? Gary Sheffield, all those guys. Like, yeah, I was awed to be in their company. Alonso warning.
Starting point is 00:06:32 You well. Was that too late by this? Well, I wrote bad things and he got mad at me. And I didn't want to be next to him. I did not want to be a real man. Alonso was mean to you? What? Well, no, you know what?
Starting point is 00:06:42 That one was my fault. No, Alonso's got a legend around him. Any kid that grew up in South Florida while he was playing at the Miami Heat has an Alonzo morning was mean to me story. I don't have that story, but what I do have is the regret looking back now 25 years being a sports column this. My viewpoints all changed. I wrote a scathing column when he left the Miami regret looking back now 25 years being a sports columnist. My viewpoints all changed. I rode a scathing column when he left the Miami Heat.
Starting point is 00:07:10 Scaving and I regret it. And my viewpoints on what is owed to management and what a player should have for power have all changed in the last 20 years. I've apologized to him about that. Dan, let me tell you something, man, because I didn't read your stuff when you're heyday in the 90s years, I've apologized to him about that. Dan, let me tell you something, man, because I didn't read your stuff when you're heyday in the 90s, but man,
Starting point is 00:07:28 this dude was reckless. You were a reckless rider. Like sometimes I'll come across pieces like Dan Levittar-Kombs, like no, one of these teams all wanted to kill you, man. I was young. I just, I was trying to find my voice and you know what the model was, Mike Lupica.
Starting point is 00:07:43 And so I'm, no, I like a stanza. And Greg Cody. I need. You know what Greg Cody was the way not to do it. I assure you of that. Tasha is over-eager, we agree though, right? But Joy, I think it.
Starting point is 00:08:00 No, Jessica gets hurt by this. I do not mean it over-eager like the way a puppy is. Because he is new to some of, like he must, he's very young to be in these positions. These jobs usually go to 30 and 40-year-olds. Jazz could have been like, I don't want your life to end well. And Jeremy would have been like,
Starting point is 00:08:22 thank you, yes, right? Yeah, no Thursday. Yes, great. Yeah. No Thursday. I have a question. Do you like when people are overeager to hang out with you? I feel like I'm like, eh. OK. Oh, you play hard to get just socially.
Starting point is 00:08:34 Come on. That's happened more since you've joined the show. No, no, no, no. Guys, come on, come on. You play hard to get socially. I don't think Chris Cody plays hard to get socially. I think if people are wanting. What's supposed to mean? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, here, I got so many employees here. Nobody's got anything bad to say about Chris. I don't know if that's true. Yeah. All right, the MMA hang on what like a word? Let me look around.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Who are your rivals? As soon as Tony gets here, Billy attacks him. What hasn't stopped attacking him? Like as soon as he gets here, who's your rival? I'm not convinced Roy likes me. Well, we're not convinced any of us that Roy likes us. That's true. Carmen definitely hates me.
Starting point is 00:09:24 Let's play. I don Carmen definitely hates me. What? Let's play. I don't want to go around the office. You guys are so eager to do the Sid Rosenberg show. You really are. Sid. Yes, Sid Rosenberg who just talks to everybody and brings them in to.
Starting point is 00:09:37 Sluggle. Andy King. Gino is a DJ. We found that out last night. You're going to do this? You should have a DJ off. Mike and Gina, no. Oh This brother. Oh Wait, there's no mic point. This doesn't do anything. Oh, he does nothing. He literally does not you got to be for Mike point
Starting point is 00:09:58 Just saying like Gina was a DJ Mike. What does Mike do? Well, what Dan was saying about Chris? He certainly couldn't say about a mean the D.J. Mike, what does Mike do? Well, what Dan was saying about Chris, he certainly couldn't say about Amin. That is true. Well, he is a serial truth teller. Amin, one of the greatest things about Amin as a personality is he will take the consequences of whatever comes with. This is an adult telling the truth.
Starting point is 00:10:19 When I was in the 20s doing the columnist stuff, I had not yet found my voice. Amin will tell you to your face all the things you don't want to hear. I found my voice in 1979, Dan. And it ain't stopped yet. It's just an ever-flowing fountain of truth coming out at all time. Right out of them. Unfortunately, we do not have Billy with us here today, but I think if what's still with us,
Starting point is 00:10:46 he's just not in studio today. With us here today. Yes. Not in, yes, not in spirit. It's spirit is here with us today, but the rest of him is also alive elsewhere. It's okay. We would have started on a more somber note if the Marlins had killed him last night. I don't think we would have.
Starting point is 00:11:03 Maybe not. Maybe we would have told a trilogy and a mean would have said mean things about it. But last night. Last night. Last night. I don't think that Billy could be here and produce something better as content than the fan base of our show getting to see his face when that grand slam is hit that lifts all of Philadelphia. If you're watching live, you would have gotten the instant reaction, no matter how well-hidden
Starting point is 00:11:32 Billy is in the costume of stoicism and anarchy, Billy is a huge Marlon's fan. Like, he is not given up this team ever, but it hurts him to put that fandom out in front of us because Mike can make fun of him because he fans rule this town the standard is just totally different for the teams totally different if the if the dolphins make it to the Super Bowl and lose or get to the conference Finals and lose I'm not making fun of anybody. I don't like it when people make fun of my teams being eliminated I think the Marlins had a great season that's things that they got eliminated. I'm not here to make fun of Yes, do I hold the private resentment that Billy hates the Miami heat for some reason and then alleges that he doesn't yes But that's a private resentment not a rare. It's not some reason. It's you Well, I do wonder about this because as all of us around here age
Starting point is 00:12:21 There's only so much fan with that you have for these things and you do have to just like you're doing with the streaming services. You do have to decide, well how much energy am I gonna pour into these things? Tony, did baseball grab you? No, you watched it very casually. We watched the entire game, I have no idea what happened. Okay. I watched one ending of Playoff baseball yesterday and I was shocked to learn that the Minnesota twins have moved out of the metadome. I love the blue jays this season too. Like the two teams, good teams are already eliminated in two days. Like it really does.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Chris, that sucks as a playoff experience. Like it really does. It can't, it doesn't get worse than that. You score one run in two games, like, or two runs in two games, and you're not in the games, and you don't have a, there's not just landing in drama, you don't have a lead
Starting point is 00:13:06 and then your seasons over and the other city is remarkably joyous. What stinks is that we've made the playoffs twice in recent years and we've had no home games. The fans haven't gotten, like, even if we're gonna lose, just being able to go to that park, I've never been to that park for a playoff game. So it's just, you're right, to your point,
Starting point is 00:13:24 it doesn't really, it just felt like we had a big game last night, it didn't even really feel like. They've been playing those for six weeks and that's why it's been a good season. Like that right there, the fact that they played late into the season, meaningful games and kept winning and we're exciting. Like it's where fan bases get built on success.
Starting point is 00:13:39 But again, different standards in this market, understandably for the teams, because some of them have put the expectation so low that winning more than you lose is a conquest. And last year when the heat did that, Mike turned on them and then they did what they do in the playoffs. And that's their standard. Like that's that's the expected standard in this market. Did we save ourselves from shame? Like would we have been the raise if we had a home game? Oh my god. Oh my god. And usually we're better at faking it. We can show up and just, would we have been the raise if we had a home game? Oh my God. Usually we're better at faking it.
Starting point is 00:14:06 We can show up and just act like we've been here all season better than Tampa can. That's true. I think we would have filled that, we would have more energy than Philly with a bunch of faker. Nobody knows who the eighth hitter is, but they're excited to be there.
Starting point is 00:14:17 You would have done a lot better than Tampa. I think Tampa, for all the jokes about their attendance, it's not a novelty for them to be in the postseason. They've been there regularly. For Miami, I do think that there would be a buzz around town because of the novelty. The Announcers on the race game yesterday refused to refer to it as a crowd. They called it a group. The group that has gathered in Tampa. It's the smallest crowd in a hundred years in that sport. At Public Mobile, we do things differently.
Starting point is 00:14:49 From our subscription phone plans to throwing a big sale right now when no one else is. Well, maybe they are, but who cares, our sale is better. And it's on right now, no waiting necessary. You have the latest phone. Now take advantage of a great price on a 5G subscription phone plan It's the perfect deal for anyone who could use some savings right now Subscribe today at public mobile dot CA different is calling Don lebertard. Did you watch me then she's straight? I was all ACC
Starting point is 00:15:20 I don't have necessarily the mobility, but no one can see over the line like me. Michael, the ACC network job is a good job. It's a stable job. I need a packet in. I've got a lot of good football left, didn't I? My footwork is underrated. I could step up in the pocket with the best of all. No one can skate in the field like me.
Starting point is 00:15:44 But wouldn't it be nice to be around the family more often and I have to worry about any injuries? Babe, just give me one more chance. Still gots. Tell you what, I'm not going to therapy. I'm not. Therapy is not happening. Sorry, you need to work on you.
Starting point is 00:16:00 There's one person pulling the rope for this family right here and it's Mike. There's one person pulling the rope for this family right here and it's Mike This is the Don Lebatar show with this two cats I put into my group chat roughly 60 seconds ago There are about 30 people in this group chat was so ever mean to you when you were a kid so far seven thumbs up and one chime in from Chris winning ham saying he was never mean to me but I've heard so many stories of him being mean that I feel like he was. Zo's summer groove 99 he may or may not have pushed me out of the way. I have a Zo's summer groove story from one of the people here like we
Starting point is 00:16:41 were at the lobby at Zo's summer. Everybody signed autographs except for Zo. I don't want to start. Who are you? What is Zozomer Group? Oh, it was a great party. I like that one knowing. What you don't know. Was it Summer League before Summer League
Starting point is 00:16:55 or in the dance party? It was like a charity game. Where was it? Yeah. It was here, Miami. It was like Moss Miami with a basketball game around it, right? Who played in the game? Oh, superstars.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Yeah. Zozomer. I would say it was an annual, I lost Miami with a basketball game around it, right? Who played in the game? Oh, superstars, yeah. I was saying, Kiselle. I would say it was an annual, I mean, could speak to this better than I could actually, but I was viewing it through the Miami prison, but I thought it was an annual event where the NBA came to throw a party for a weekend in Miami because of the number of friends that he had come down.
Starting point is 00:17:21 Yeah, but I mean, it was so, it wasn't the NBA, it was zo-throwing this party and zo-s connections to guys across the he had come down. Yeah, but I mean, it was Zolt. It wasn't the NBA. It was Zolt throwing this party in. Zolt's connections to guys across the league will come in. Magic Johnson used to have the same thing out in LA. It's like I said, it's more charity game than Summer League because no one's taking it seriously, kind of to an exhibition game. So a reason for guys to come hang out in Miami,
Starting point is 00:17:39 you know, and then you sign autographs and you take pictures and all that stuff. But I didn't mean the play with Summer League. I meant the sort of buzz of, we're gonna go party here. We're gonna go party in a city for the weekend as members of the NBA. Sure, but they played. You know, like when guys go to Summer League,
Starting point is 00:17:54 like Damien Lillard or, you know, LaBron or whatever, they're not playing, they're just there to support. So to speak, guys would come playing this exhibition charity game because of their friendship with Zo. But again, it was a light disguise for Let's Go Party. I'm telling you, I'm connecting with a large part of our audience right now. Our, I think our social media is gonna have
Starting point is 00:18:13 a more than a few mentions of stories saying, Zo was mean to me when I was a kid. Do we put it on the poll yet? Well, now we have to do it, okay, because I'm watching the YouTube is filling up here too. Is the YouTube also saying Zo was mean to me? I mean, there's a lot of everyone's got a story. I've got a lot of stories too, but I was not wanting to do this. I have a good story. He once picked me up and put me on his shoulders and then ran around the arena and I held my hands.
Starting point is 00:18:38 And then he kicked the dog. It was a really nice moment. I don't believe that that. But we have to all set it some. I was 27 years old. The lie wasn't him picking you up. The... Oh! Oh!
Starting point is 00:18:53 It's just... Oh! The interesting thing is, it's so hot, thank you. Oh! Two of them in the first... Two of them in the... Panda bear!
Starting point is 00:19:04 And he gets two in the first 20 minutes. That's some sort of record. Fishing sea. That's what it is. We got to get in a mean here earlier. Look at that. That was the laziest joke ever granted. I can't believe it got that. I'm stuck. What? Pander bear. But no, not Pander bear that he just went out. Chris was fat. That's right. So it's not strong enough to pick a pet Chris.
Starting point is 00:19:25 How does that get the he keep next? How do you not know it was for the, I was 27 years old? Oh, it wasn't. Well, yeah. Let's put up for the people on video. You'll be able, if you're just doing this with audio to I think feel Billy's pain because they did a watch party last night.
Starting point is 00:19:44 I want to put some color behind this. So there's like six or seven of us in the actual watch party. The thing is we're all watching the game around different times because we couldn't sync up. Roy had it like 30 seconds before. Roy was on Wednesday's game already and like we were still on Tuesday's game. So here's the thing. Something happens in this clip. Everybody else knows about it. Billy knows something is going to happen, but he doesn't know what. Oh, wait a minute. So you're, are you telling me that everyone knew it was a grand slam before Billy knew it was for sure. Everybody else is trying to figure it out, but they had a little bit more of an end. Wait, this is going to be fun as video then. So you're
Starting point is 00:20:16 telling me I'm going to be able to see on their faces. Roy's the first tell on the grand slam has been hit. Their season is over. That we had cameras live in the wild when Billy had his heart broken on television and he was the last to know. Around that it was Roy then Mike Fuentes and then Billy finds out a little bit later. All right, Mike Fuentes, the previously useless, according to a mean of like,
Starting point is 00:20:43 Fuentes, no talent.entus? No talent. No talent. No talent. No, me. Okay. No talent. My guy, he's okay. Thanks for the upgrade.
Starting point is 00:20:52 Not useless, but no talent to be clear. All right. No talent, Mike Fentus. He's got center square in this video. Okay. Well, Fentus is, I will tell because I, because I descend from loopica and he told me when i got to the sports report everybody has a story that i know my group chat that my clupa cub was mean to them when they were a kid
Starting point is 00:21:15 he told me when i got to sports reporters one night out late in new york to respect the brand to respect the brand of sports reporters in a time in a time square where it smelled like a bar and throw up and urine from the night before. Another little Easter egg in this video is Lewis in the top center square just playing video games. Very good quality of the video.
Starting point is 00:21:39 Sometimes around here when indicate that that is symbolically so. I imagine when we're doing the show right now, Lewis is playing video games. Starfield. Confirmed. But Fuentes respect the brand, okay, Fuentes. I don't mean to be a looper, but these Fuentes brothers, the two of them respect the brand.
Starting point is 00:22:01 Let's play this video. Everybody's working. What did Gino do? It's gonna be a DJ. It's eat this video. Everybody's working. What did Gino do? It's gonna be a DJ. It's eat like all Miami DJs also a farmer. If your last name is Fuentes, you do both those things. Always. All right, let's see what we've got here
Starting point is 00:22:15 of this pain sweeping through the room. Yep. Brought to everybody's birthday. Okay, and guys, just like that, it's over. So the person is hard corporate Bad he looks just like that shepherd I'm locked in on Billy right now Oh my god, and there he is the no talent. I mean said it not me slam in the damn playoffs.
Starting point is 00:22:56 That up. Yes it is. Yes it is. Hey look luckily is almost Marlins o a clock. Yes. Yeah, that's right You have done nothing close to saving the season. I've actually scored more runs since Chris got here than they had the whole game. I kept telling everyone that seven thinning was Marlon's a clock It didn't work out that way. You showed up and proclaimed yourself the safest.
Starting point is 00:23:25 We're down through nothing. I could only be the savior. I'm like, hey guys, I'm here to help out. And then it was seven nothing for sitting. They actually scored more in the time I was there. Yeah, shit. Did you complete your week without cursing? Did you, I don't feel like you actually-
Starting point is 00:23:40 Yeah, I nailed it. I didn't curse Monday. I know, last Monday, this is the different week, Tony. Last Monday I cursed, so I started again on Tuesday. To the curse as well. And I didn't curse on Monday. Like I got Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday last week, and then I didn't curse Monday.
Starting point is 00:23:55 I wasn't even here. Did I curse on any of those interviews? No. We'll see. We'll see. When is that heat content coming? When is it made today, baby? Today, baby.
Starting point is 00:24:03 All right, so just so everyone knows. So if you curse on that, then we reset. Oh wow. We are live. John, believe it. We are live. And we should be more nimble as a company than Heat Media Day was Monday. And we will give you Chris Cody cursing at Heat media today on Thursday. It's across the street.
Starting point is 00:24:26 Slow burn, Dan. He's got to do it on Thursday so he can get that full weekend. If you drop down Tuesday, then he'd have to be sick. What are we just like hitchy with all the heat stuff on a football Monday? What are we getting, that was stellar. What are we getting from Chris Cody and Tony and Tony? You not eating gluten. Wow.
Starting point is 00:24:43 It's a good point. What are you attacking? Wasn't that a punishment? I, I, I, yes. Yes, it was a, I didn't mean what? Are we getting his content from your punishment? I meant what are we getting his content from your job of going over there on Monday and it's Thursday. Two seggies.
Starting point is 00:25:03 What? That's a good day. You are a glue guy. Wow. When are they? When are the two seggies? Because he's so quick and efficient that he can't say the whole word segments. What are we getting from heat media day from you and Tony?
Starting point is 00:25:20 We're talking to Duncan Robinson, Kevin Love, and say it. I'm a Haka's junior. There we go. He's afraid of it He was terrified of the name. He called him Here I do the first two I tee up to him. I'm as I was like what do you say? I imagine now I heard him say that wrong two or three times in the last couple of days I'm as is what I kept saying it's scary man. He's scared of the In the last couple of days. He's scared that he's duck. The J, the silent J scares him.
Starting point is 00:25:47 He's like, what do you do the intro in this one? Can we call Chris Jamie Jackass? Yes, hi mate. No, I'm saying we're calling Chris that. Hi me, hi, guys. Oh, wow. Just two, three. Two, three.
Starting point is 00:26:02 She's a complete shop. Go sit in the penalty box. What? Wow. And I'm sorry, three. Three. Segment to a complete shop. Go sit in the penalty box. What? And it's, yeah. Wow. And I'm sorry, this is after, this is after this. Why have you been wearing so much Georgia Tech stuff this week? Because don't, we'll ask you perhaps in the penalty box.
Starting point is 00:26:15 We're not asking you here, but I do wonder why it is you're wearing so much Georgia Tech gear. Miami plays Georgia Tech this weekend. And yes, thank you for nothing. Primetime, Dano. Don Lebatard. I read his lips and it sounded like he was saying, what, you want to fight me now?
Starting point is 00:26:33 Spote. But I'm telling you, if you look, we can play a game right now. The lips look the same on Fight You and Failure. Watch my lips. Let me turn off my mic. No, I just look at your drums. I like this. I like this. I like this one. I love this one.
Starting point is 00:26:45 I love this one. And I want you guys to tell me if I'm saying fight you or failure, right? Yeah, yeah. Still gots. Why are your ideas always so bad for the podcast? This is a bad audio. I just want to hear my wife.
Starting point is 00:26:59 You're a mind man. I just want to audio. I have to do it again. No, fight you. That was fight. I made me a can tell. Oh my audio. Here we go, do it again. No. Fight you. Fight you. I'm a decantel. Oh my god! We got to the bottom of it!
Starting point is 00:27:09 This is the Don Lebertar Show with the Stugats. ["Stugats"] We are not aspiring to do the equivalent of sports radio, but there is something coming out of New York that for me represents just about the only thing that I would miss about doing sports radio. Stugots? Stugots has come back from WFA in a couple of times now, and he says he misses live radio,
Starting point is 00:27:39 the feeling of live radio. And Don LaGrecca has been doing live radio in New York for a long time, and New York Sports Radio, which invented argument television, Mike in the Mad Dog, has birthed a lot of personalities who come on the air and bark. And this is an age old argument, okay, because Evan Neal of the Giants basically criticized fans and that is a third rail in sports. Like you do not want to be the guy, even if you think it privately, who says out loud to everybody and births those resentments
Starting point is 00:28:24 that I'm rich and you're a burger flipper. Like, that one, athletes know better than you will feud with your city for years and it will put a pressure on your play that you do not want. It is better. I like honesty from my athletes. It's better for an athlete to eat the condescension of what he delivers when he says, what is the lion care about? What the sheep say and he called, he called the customer, the people who pay his salary,
Starting point is 00:28:52 basically less than him and Don LaGrecca as Don LaGrecca will do on occasion. Like this is, I don't know Don LaGrecca, but I am told that his rage is genuine and righteous and funny. That he is a nice man, but when you step on the land mine that is sports radio gold for 30 years, this is an oil well that will never stop giving. The customer tunes in to hear Don LaGrecca tell Evan Neal what's what about who pays who's salary and who's flipping burgers. Play it.
Starting point is 00:29:30 Why would a lion concern himself with the opinion of a sheep? He added the person that's condemning a commenting on my performance. What does he do? Flip hot dogs and hamburgers somewhere. Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? I? Cut his ass. I would how dare you how dare you These people pay your salary they pay an obnoxious amount of money to park an obnoxious amount of money for PSL's To sit there and watch this pack and you call them hamburger flippers. What, you're so much better?
Starting point is 00:30:08 I'd rather have a guy that's flipping hamburgers block than your piece of garbage ass. Who the hell are you to talk to fans like that? You piece of garbage. I hate what players do that. You're not above us. What? Because you happen to play a sport? You make them, you're better than me. You're better than the people that pay your salary
Starting point is 00:30:29 These giant fans were here before you and they'll be here after your sorry ass is cut What a piece of human trash and I don't want to hear some apology I don't want to hear. Oh, I was taking out a contact. I didn't mean I don't want to hear done Done I would cut its fat ass. No! Oh, if I'm John Marra, I call him into the office. No, I would. You were a first round pick, but you're not worth anything.
Starting point is 00:30:55 You don't talk to our fans that way. You don't talk to me that way. You are out of a job. I, I, you don't. You should, boo, if you see him in the mortal world. Boo is ass. If you see him on the DMV, boo him.
Starting point is 00:31:11 Don't stop booing him. If he goes to the probable, boo him. If he wins a Super Bowl, boo his sorry ass. And I'm telling you, it's like watching an enraged Santa. Heckle human beings. Like, if you were on the street And I'm telling you, it's like watching an enraged Santa,
Starting point is 00:31:25 heckle human beings. Like, if you were on the street and walking past the place and you saw someone for the holidays dressed as Santa, but they were screaming mad with rage at the maximum insult that you could deliver, which is, yeah, I think I'm better than fans. You're better than me. Like, you just saw his forehead turned radioactive red.
Starting point is 00:31:51 Crash more. You probably went a little far, huh? Yeah. Yeah. You really don't need to call people pieces of trash. There's also, but that's not how rage works. Like, that's, yeah, that, you know how much of that sentiment, just all of it, all of it,
Starting point is 00:32:07 that's not at microphones, is running through our entire country right now. The radioactive red contrasts so well with the Kenny Rogers motif. It's so good, it all of it is good, but Jessica seems shocked and, because it is... It was shocking. I mean, I know that this is what New York sports radio is
Starting point is 00:32:26 But it is still shocking every time. I'm I'm wondering who this man's cardiologist is. He seems like he does well for himself Two million dollars. That's my quote Jessica. See if I have to do another movie That's how much they have to pay me just doing crash Jessica you do know that if LaGrecca is just the evolution, and he's done a show with Michael K. in that market for a long time, and Michael K. I don't think does a lot of that,
Starting point is 00:32:54 but that's part of the personality. That is what Mike and the Mad Dog, it's evolution in 2023, in a place, one of the few in America, where sports on your radio is still a thing, where it matters, you can get an audience because New York loves its sports radio. That's the 2023 evolution of what sports radio
Starting point is 00:33:16 has become over 25 years. That's good shit right there. Of course. That's meeting the moment he's a talent man. That's awesome stuff. The great thing is somebody's trying to like slow him down and they're like, don, don, he's like, no! He's on the heat, I'm shaking my head. He knows he's a talent man. That's awesome stuff. The great thing is somebody's trying to like slow him down and they're like, don, don, he's like, no, he's on the heat. I'm shaking my head.
Starting point is 00:33:28 He knows he's on the heat. How many LeGrec eclipse have we played in our show's history like over the last five years? It's getting up to close to 10. That's amazing. This is the wonderful evolution of the thing that New York sports radio has birthed. Do you understand
Starting point is 00:33:46 that the moment Evan Neal says this gold bricks are falling from the sky they don't want to talk giants football here's a thing to talk about the giants are about to go to the dolphins have you seen how bad the giants are that game is this week they'd rather talk about this i think the gold bricks are falling into LaGreca's cardiologist lab though. Yeah. There's a vein popping out of his beard. I've never seen it before.
Starting point is 00:34:13 He is what the medium has to be. Funny, smart, rage-filled, offensive, passionate, and then right there. No, right there. And right on the edge of cardiac arrest. Right on the other edge, just full of like right on the edge. Not just, don't go, don't ever go through over the edge, but just flirt with it a little bit. And that's perfect. Yeah, but it's perfect.
Starting point is 00:34:36 It is, it is. What was the name of the movie, Silent Night? It came. It came. It came. It came. It came. I thought I had a hot take earlier in the show. Oh my god. I mean, but really don't look at this still shot and they just put up. I know. I know. And this is what I want to say. I can see his wisdom teeth. Look. Yeah. I'm just gonna come out and say it. I've been, I know I've worn an elaborate woke costume for 25 years right now.
Starting point is 00:35:11 But with the elections that are coming up in 2024, I do want to advocate on the side of God damn it. LaGreca can call a person in New York a piece of garbage on sports radio for as long as I live and it's okay just because we can laugh as his rage filled face. I will allow it even though like we really shouldn't be calling athletes pieces of garbage. I want it. I want to tell me they're better than me. What do you think you are? I want it to be in the room with them just to say, hey, it exhibits the behavior of a human piece of carpet. Yes, that's what they did at ESPN. That was the rule.
Starting point is 00:35:47 That's right. Don't call anybody any idiot. I was eight years old when you decided to go to the nets. Eight. Wow. I saw you at a farm source. You didn't give me the time of day. This is what I regret though.
Starting point is 00:36:00 When you were eight years old, I was writing that column about. And I would shape my opinion. I was feeding, I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys.
Starting point is 00:36:11 I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys.
Starting point is 00:36:19 I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was feeding you guys. I was he did to you. Remember what he did. No. No.
Starting point is 00:36:27 Do you understand how profound my regret is that I wrote the columns that fed an eight year old Mike who now is that kind of wounded and caring about this franchise? And I wrote it from the wrong side on an impressionable eight year old. Like my take was wrong. It was, it's the opposite of how I feel right now,
Starting point is 00:36:46 but I was writing through Mike's pain, a childish pain, within a voice of a columnist who hadn't grown up yet, I tore up Zo for not being loyal when he didn't have to be loyal. In your defense, he didn't tell me what to think. You just asked me if I'd like to. No, I was telling, no, I hadn't figured out how to do that yet. Back then, I was telling you what to think. Back then, no, because that was a style of a columnist.
Starting point is 00:37:08 Back then, Greg Cody came off as super opinionated to me. I mean, but he was a voice of the fan. I was like, yeah, they should get Tony Martin. We deserve this. Get Tony Martin. This has been a good season. Just get Tony Martin. Martin this has been a good season. Just can't Tony Martin.
