Starting point is 00:01:09 And it's brought to you by our friends at DraftKings. DraftKings, the crown is yours. Mike starts off. I'm going to write a hot hand in hockey. By the way, we did some number crunching on the total succession rate, conversion rate of power plays in the NHL. Right now it's as good as it's been since the mid 80s. You won't have a team setting records the way that the Edmonton Oilers did, but the floor is a lot higher now in
Starting point is 00:01:33 the NHL. So the St. Louis Blues have won nine out of their last ten. They're scorching hot. Monty and them boys are finally clicking on all cylinders over there. They have a tough test today at Edmonton, but I'm gonna ride the hotter team. I'm gonna go alt-spread here. Gotta take a chance, gotta take blues. Minus one and a half on a road. Against the spread! Against the spread!
Starting point is 00:01:55 Don't let him finish. To cash that in, hopefully over plus 240 juice. Against the spread! Usually when you say the spread, but like the answer spread follows. Yeah, but I was just, I'm taking an old spread, so it's like juicy. Countability, that's on me.
Starting point is 00:02:10 No, no, it's all right. Yeah. My turn? Again. Let's go to Billy. All right, I'm gonna stay on the ice, and the Calgary Flames are headed to Anaheim to take on the Ducks.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Your Ducks? I've been big on the Ducks this year. Now, you look head to head, the Calgary Flames, three wins, no losses against the Ducks. Your Ducks? I've been big on the Ducks this year. Now, you look head to head, the Calgary Flames, three wins, no losses against the Ducks so far by scores of four one, four one, and three two, and overtime. The Flames have lost four of their last seven, four of their last 11, and 14 of their last 25.
Starting point is 00:02:40 On the other hand, the Ducks have lost three of their last seven, six of their last 11, and 13 of their last 25. The Ducks have lost three of their last seven, six of their last 11, and 13 of their last 25. The Ducks have been eliminated from the postseason already, but you know these scrappy Ducks, they're not just gonna roll over here to the flames, we're still in playoff contention. That's why I'm gonna take the Anaheim Ducks
Starting point is 00:02:57 plus one and a half tonight. Against the Srags! What an odd game to take. Yeah. So you're laying the, so four out of their last seven, but also four out of their last eleven Yeah, they had a win streak in there All right, Greg bring it on one of the half right plus one and a half for the Ducks against us, bro I think
Starting point is 00:03:18 Power play goals should only count as half goal. Ooh, I want to really yeah, I Yeah, I'm serious. I wanna make that change in the NHL. It'll never happen because it messes with history. What about empty netters? Empty netters should also count as a half a goal. Wow. Would you be able to bet on quarter goals then? No, no. Huh.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Like two and a quarter over tonight. What if you do it past the blue line? Is that two goals maybe? If I may, let me follow this logic ladder. Yeah. A power play goal should only count as half a goal because you have a person advantage, right? Right. But you have a person disadvantage most times
Starting point is 00:03:53 when you have an empty net situation. One and a half. One and a half goals. Yeah, if you are on the opposite end of a power play, it's one and a half goals. No, it makes a lot of sense, Mike. I don't know what you're not understanding. Right, what's a shorthanded goal worth now? Two. You know, I haven't thought of that far ahead. That's what I'm saying, one makes a lot of sense, Mike. I don't know what you're not understanding. Right. What's a shorthanded goal worth now?
Starting point is 00:04:05 Two. You know, I haven't thought of that far. That's what I'm saying, one and a half. A shorty. It's one and a half. As if it's half one way, one and a half the other way. Let's be reasonable. That would never happen.
Starting point is 00:04:16 What? A shorthanded goal? The half goal for a power play goal is legit. That could happen. Devaluing the empty net goal is something that I would take a long hard look at. Ovechkin to his credit said that he would not score his record breaking goal on an empty net, which I thought was nice. Oh, you got to just score it. Don't you like the five on four though? Like the action picks
Starting point is 00:04:40 up, the pace picks up. I like it for the game. In fact, I would say it should always be five on four. That team should have to leave someone on the defensive side,, the pace picks up. I like it for the game. In fact, I would say it should always be five on four. That team should have to leave someone on the offensive side. No bad ideas here. No bad ideas. We're just spitballing. I was so bothered by Ovechkin saying that he
Starting point is 00:04:53 didn't want the empty night goal. Oh, you got to take it. Really? You take it. It would have been a hat trick. It would have been cool. Again, he missed a season and a half due to work stoppages, and he had COVID impact him. like we got it, man.
Starting point is 00:05:06 You're good, you've had enough obstacles. It's all right, have one empty netter on us. He wanted to earn it. Wanted to earn, wanted to learn, I like that. Yeah, but it's not his fault they took the goalie out, take the goal when you can get the goal. I wouldn't do it. Ovechkin would have taken that goal.
Starting point is 00:05:20 Ovechkin has a record breaking 65 empty net goals in his career, so he has more than Gretzky. I hold that against him. That's a signature play. He shouldn't have scored the first two if they didn't want them to pull the goalie. Think about it.
