Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Gir's way too important. Donald Trump wants to terminate the Constitution. Project 2025 will give him nearly unlimited power. We can't let him get anywhere near the White House. So, vote for Kamala Harris. Yeah, see, that was better. The serious version was much better, right? Paid for by Harris for president.
Starting point is 00:00:43 Am I reading this reporting correctly? I believe if these are all real accounts that can be verified that we have breaking news regarding these fans, these bozos at Yankee Stadium who are heroically felonious. First pitch tonight or? Well they're allowed back in the stadium. Oh!
Starting point is 00:01:03 There you go. Ooh! Fuckin' David Simpson! In our key! Fuckin' David Simpson! Ooh! Well, they're allowed back in the stadium I thought it would have been funny if they only Suspended them for game five and allowed them to go to LA for the games one game suspension not the rest of the series Just game five ridiculous not even a one game suspension. It's a little rough over there Chris I don't know if those guys want to go to dodger stadium exactly shotter ravine uh... not useful greg can you tell me i was full can you tell me greg uh... what
Starting point is 00:01:33 it is that you're feeling because this is as indignant as i've seen you about any sports subject in a long time you came in here banning those fans for life and wanting them nowhere near a field and tonight they're going to be back on the field as heroes who are going to be cashing in right up until game time. Yeah I think that's terrible I think the Yankees are making a terrible statement that's the reason David Sampson was right in saying there is zero chance they will be in the victory parade should they win it's
Starting point is 00:02:00 because that would be making a statement you pay fans you can do anything you want okay you can mug an opposing outfielder when he's trying to catch a baseball you can do anything you want and in this case they just went over a line egregiously I I think what the two of those guys did one grabbing the wrist the other prying open a glove and stealing the ball it just crossed the line I think it was terrible behavior, I really do. First of all, one person did cross the line, it was Mookie Betts, am I right Billy?
Starting point is 00:02:31 Yep. He was trespassing. Second of all, what the Yankees are saying is, if you can help our team win a World Series game, yeah, do whatever you want. Whatever it takes, that's the attitude we need in pinstripes Whatever it takes to get that victory and those guys right there. They're not bozos Dan Lebatard
Starting point is 00:02:50 How dare you and as Billy pointed out earlier? We're gonna need them for the comeback part two which we do in 20 years. You called them bozos That's not gonna help us book those guys. We were gonna be in tight competition with everybody else Bozos and clouds think about the ratings though, on a foul ball down the right field line tonight. I will tune in right then. Let me know when it happens. Is one of them playing shortstop?
Starting point is 00:03:12 Wow. What I don't understand is like in sports we're very big on like oh the 12th man, the sixth man. This was the 26th man making an appearance yesterday and now all of a sudden, the 10 No, well, no sure whatever rosters just Our brothers actually they wouldn't be the tenth man because they were on defense or an offense so they would be the second man I mean was so insistent on getting that qualifier out there that I don't think he heard us both shout their brothers Which is not something that they're not friends. We thought that was friendship teamwork.
Starting point is 00:03:47 That's all. Friends are the family you choose. Mom must be so proud. I've rarely seen you this kind of indignant over something that I think is pretty silly all in all. Like yes, Mookie Betts could have been hurt, and yes, generally speaking, don't touch the players. Certainly don't pry them open
Starting point is 00:04:04 to get a baseball that's all ready and out. I think we can all agree on that. However, they are celebrities and heroes today. Bullshit. Celebrities and heroes? Yes they are. Are you kidding? We took three hours talking about these guys.
Starting point is 00:04:17 I'm like, come on, you referenced the Hawk Toa girl. It's the same kind of celebrity. She has a pot, like a number, top 10 podcast. Talk to them. It's pissant celebrity. Whoa. You know, and the idea that these are heroes, the idea that what they did inspired the victory is beyond ludicrous.
Starting point is 00:04:34 It's so ridiculous. Greg, you can see the line in the sand, pre-Pri and post-Pri. Yeah, the word is coincidence. Coinkydink. Sometimes you need a good 20 CB slap to wake you up. Oh my god, these guys, well sometimes, Billy in the 20th century.
Starting point is 00:04:51 20 CB, it's a qualify. 21st century, man, it's not a slap, it's just a pry. Stugatz was enjoying as a baseball fan now. Stugatz is all of a sudden the guy who tunes into a World Series game and is delighted by an announcer guessing correctly at the perfect time. So what happened soon after this play is the Yankees blew the entire game open, which is why this play is getting the credit.
Starting point is 00:05:18 We have not played the sound that Stu Gott says is some of the best sound a baseball broadcaster lives all his life to be around. In baseball, you have to luck into a perfect call because you have no idea what's going to happen with the very next swing. But as Volpe is coming up to the plate, bases are loaded. Smoltz and the announcer are talking about New York kid made a base running mistake earlier in the game
Starting point is 00:05:40 that cost him a run. What a great spot he's in right here. A chance to get his hometown team. He was a Yankee fan. He went to the last World Series parade. Won the Yankees one as a nine-year-old, I think. What a great moment this would be for him to kind of make up for the mistake that he had earlier in the game. Cranks the ball, deep left field, Volpe with redemption! I'd also like to point out something that hasn't been addressed yet. If we remember the history of this series correctly,
Starting point is 00:06:26 when we were in Los Angeles, a fan of the Dodgers reached into playing territory and got a ball out of fair play and didn't really face this scrutiny. But now all of a sudden, a Dodger's jumping into the stands, borderline assaulting some fans. You hit the person the wrong way, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:46 if, heaven forbid, heaven to Betsy, and I don't wanna say it, I don't wanna manifest or speak it into existence. Betsy forbid. You accidentally hit one of those gentlemen in the temple with your baseball glove, it's over. Now we will. It's over for crossing into the stands.
Starting point is 00:07:03 And we're not asking the question, should we be jumping into the stands? Where's the netting? I thought that we were gonna have some netting here. It stops down the line. Well, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. We made this big hubbub about having netting from home plate to foul pole.
Starting point is 00:07:18 And some stadiums have done that. Now all of a sudden, no netting to protect the fans from players just jumping at them, lunging at them after balls that are rightfully theirs. Swinging mitts wildly. Did we learn nothing from Derek Jeter hitting his face on those seats when he fell into the stands? Nothing? Billy, last night you were a part of, and if you want more Billy Gill, you can do so on the Paws Up FIU broadcast.
Starting point is 00:07:43 I didn't realize that we hadn't gotten to the sound yet today of you dominating that broadcast. Finally some content from that broadcast that we can use on our show. It's a big one Dan. I was hoping for long before now. What is this sound that we're about to throw it to? Well yeah thank you Greg. It was South Kia field at Pitbull Stadium. They made sure to tell us to say South Kia Field a number of times. Good car. Yeah, great car. So anyways, it's a big tilt in CUSA.
Starting point is 00:08:09 Yesterday was the last of the Tuesday games. We're switching back over to Saturday games moving forward on Conference USA. But, you know, both teams, New Mexico State, the Aggies, and the FIU Panthers, last night the Sun Blazers, they need this one to stay bowl eligible. It was a battle of a two and five team versus a two and six team.
Starting point is 00:08:29 Don't let the records fool ya. It was a big one. It was an historic night yesterday. Yeah, it was. It was an historic night last night. You mentioned that. Well, I'm trying to tell you why. As Eric Rivers, FIU receiver,
Starting point is 00:08:43 had 11 receptions for 295 yards of three touchdowns, setting a school record by almost 100 yards. And here are some of the highlights from, not really the game, just more of shenanigans of mine during the broadcast. Five wide, we'll get to that. Empty backfield here. Looks like a pass play.
Starting point is 00:09:01 And it's a design run. It was not. Nope. Straight back. Right to the 40. Five wide didn't Looks like a pass play. And it's a design run. It was not. Nope. Why didn't you like a gamble? 50-50. 50% chance of getting that one right. We got Tony Romo in the booth right now.
Starting point is 00:09:17 I felt really confident with that one too, man. He did say it with a lot of pizzazz. Second and 10 to 46. Tunnel screen. Rivers. Rivers shaking the first defender, following some blockers, Rivers has the record! Out across the 35 yard line. Eric Rivers, the most receiving yards in a game in FIU history, surpassing Tyrese Chambers and Chris Mitchell. I feel bad, I feel like I ruined your call of history. You know, it was a nice touch on the side.
Starting point is 00:09:48 But history, right? That's what you said. Yeah. I think it was good. I think it was good. We kind of said history at the same time. It's radio. We're in sync, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:56 Fine. We're on the same wavelength there. All right, good. As long as you're not upset. That's all I'm worried about. Can you believe this guy over here? I don't want to contribute to your wine consumption later. Oh my.
Starting point is 00:10:08 We got a good glass of white ready to go. Ooh, smoky. What's your favorite candy? Peanut M&Ms. What's your worst fear? Failure. Wow. Well, embrace it.
Starting point is 00:10:22 We're here. We're winning. Not we as it, we're here. We're winning! Not we as in the Sunblazers, I mean we as in AJ's career. What? Sorry. I apologize. Shamash Dev is on the sweep to the near side. Just giving you some fuel for your wine later, you know what I mean? That's 208 here in the second. Jenkins throwing, deep shot. Rivers is open. Got it! Rivers! Touchdown! It's his third on his school record night. One to remember as a Sunblazer here today.
Starting point is 00:11:01 History. History on top of history. Just steal my pen. I did not do that. You lost it. It's a personal responsibility. Pistol look. It's in my pocket.
