Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Giraffe Kings Network. Brian is going to take a bite of this subway six inch cold cut combo and describe it for us. Okay. Mmm, classic. Soft bread, the Canadian cheddar cheese, the layers of cold cuts and the veggies on the cookies. What Brian doesn't know is that his sub only cost $4.99. What? $4.99?
Starting point is 00:00:26 Whoa! I've got to tell the people! Hey! Hey! There he goes. Right now, experience a Subway six-inch black forest ham or cold-cut combo sandwich for just $4.99. Only at Subway. Price and participation may vary. Extras taxes and delivery additional expires April 8th.
Starting point is 00:00:41 Buzzer. Stugatz has a top five that was promised yesterday that he was cooking. He was in the lab last night cooking up his top five, and we're going to have that as show punctuation today. But before we do that, Stugatz, I simply want to put a bookmark in this to talk about tomorrow, hopefully with an informed guest. I'm fascinated by how the business of streaming and entertainment is changing the way all of us consume things.
Starting point is 00:01:11 And all of those businesses are now desperately in search of sports everywhere cause the streamers are fighting over live sports. And now WWE with everything we've read about and heard about over the last few years. Tony Khan competing against them, WWE, Vince McMahon making tons and tons of money off of being truly awful, but great at business. Getting into bed with Netflix now, and I don't know, details are gonna be reported in the next few days about how much this is all worth and what a five billion dollar deal over Ten years. What?
Starting point is 00:01:49 Netflix has gotten into the business of sports through the fake sport of wrestling WWEM monster business is now gonna do with Netflix what UFC has done with Disney and ESPN and I want to talk to somebody who's informed about how game changing this is for Netflix to start. Netflix right now is occupying the comedy lane, where there are a lot of specials that are keeping comedians alive.
Starting point is 00:02:17 And that industry is being shaken by the Andrew Shultz's and the Rogans of the world and Louis C.K. who want to be independent, but kind of need to rely on Netflix. Netflix is now going big on sports. Netflix is not. The industry has changed a lot, Stugato, in that over the last two years, many people aren't spending. But Netflix is still spending, and Netflix just made a giant move in the sports realm. They've been beta testing with live programming, where Netflix has always, throughout its entire existence, standing back to DVD delivery was at your leisure type of company.
Starting point is 00:02:55 Now they have signed in. I was curious. They did not say Monday Night Raw. It's just raw because TV's longest running episodic television show is now moving off of linear TV and onto Netflix, I think with the the aim to globally have Money Night Raw. Kind of like Apple MLS model where Netflix globally is synonymous with WWE's Raw. Mike, the business of this is fascinating from a number of perspectives, but none more than what I'm about to tell you, Stu Gatz, because Netflix has since the beginning not
Starting point is 00:03:34 wanted to be an option against television. It has wanted to replace television. And this deal, when people talk about shadow brokering and business power nick cons to god's was the person at c a a who was running the s p n he was bringing all of his talent through the s p n and everyone in the industry knows that nick con at c a a creative artists agency
Starting point is 00:04:02 saw a business ine efficiency in the world of hollywood enacting is like i can run every client i have through espn and watch what i make espn he saw before anybody i need to get out so he gets out of being the power broker who is running espn with his talent and he says i see a business opportunity the whole whole game is changing. Let me get over here and look at the deal he just made. Look at what he left and look at what he's now doing because he saw market inefficiency and he saw the future as he often does. He has changed the trajectory
Starting point is 00:04:38 of WWE as well. That was a publicly traded company, but everything from creative, everything on down had Vince McMahon's fingerprints all over that. And many people were skeptical. What does Nikon know about this industry? Well, maybe took him a few months, but the WWE from a revenue standpoint has never been a hotter property than it is right now. Vince McMahon, while he still has a seat on the board,
Starting point is 00:05:06 he has ceded creative control to his son-in-law Triple H, and that has been a massive win for WWE. They are red hot right now. Not only red hot, and this I caution you on as well as we go to the fun portion of Top 5s because I know I can be rambling, man, about this stuff. the fun portion of top fives because I know I can be rambling man about this stuff. I also caution you that when WWE and UFC get this kind of power, you can slap your wife in public and there are no consequences and all of these power brokers never even comment
Starting point is 00:05:39 on it. All of them own all this dirty shit and they're going to make tons of money on it. They've got FU money and they're gonna make tons of money on it. They've got FU money, and they're not gonna be moral about it. The point is to make more FU money, and they just did it. Like, it's happening right now. Wrestling and UFC have done,
Starting point is 00:05:53 they've gotten their independence, and the streamers need them. And so now these corporations aren't actually gonna comment on any of the bad shit. I will say though, if a talent on the wrestling side of TKO's portfolio had comments like Sean Strickland it would be handled totally different because the WWE audience is far more inclusive whereas both do a really good job UFC and WWE of playing to that audience
Starting point is 00:06:19 and building on that momentum with those certain sectors. But your point of all the other people on TKO, not having to say anything publicly is 100% right. The same way that Jimmy Pitaro and ESPN won't say anything publicly. You mentioned Netflix wanting to replace television. Do you think they have? I mean, they're fighting to do so with Apple and Amazon, and there will be a few winners here. I would say get the NFL and the FBI franchise and you've accomplished your mission. I mean, just the NFL and the FBI franchise.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Do you think Amazon Prime has completed the mission? Because they have the NFL and they're not talked about as the top streamer. What happens to USA Network now? Get FBI. I mean, they had that and they had the Chris Leeson and now they've lost them both. So USA still actually does have a WWE property. They are taking over Smackdown
Starting point is 00:07:09 from Fox. I think there's going to be a couple of months here depending on the term where Raw and Smackdown are both on USA Network and then in January of 2025 Raw on which date we'll find out, Raul will move over to Netflix exclusively for much of the globe. Lucy, before we get to Stugaz's top five, I feel like we've bored you today. Yeah, a little bit, but that's okay. Sometimes we have those days.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Thursday will be really interesting, I hope. You miss Caitlyn Clark-Flopped. Yeah, I'm glad I wasn't here for that. We desperately needed the other side on it. I'm sorry, what do you mean other side? We reached consensus, she flopped. Yeah, go ahead Lucy, the floor is yours. No, the floor is Caitlyn's after she flopped.
Starting point is 00:07:59 So angry that it's not funny. I got a laugh from Seagod. She really sold it, I mean come on Lucy. I'm angry that it's not funny. Watching it real time. I got a laugh from Seagod. She really sold it. I mean, come on. She did not flop. That was real time. She's running full speed.
Starting point is 00:08:11 She extended. So is this girl. She extended. I don't know why we're making a big deal out of this. It was clearly an accident from both parts. That Ohio State fan wasn't paying attention. Caitlin was just trying to get off the court. Guess what?
Starting point is 00:08:24 When LSU lost to Ole Miss and the LSU player hit the Ole Miss fan, everyone was like, well, that's great, that's awesome. When Katelyn does it, it's the end of the world. Feminism! Yeah! It was her birthday yesterday. What? You guys did this to her on her birthday. Happy birthday.
Starting point is 00:08:44 Equality. We could be unfair and cruel to the greatest superstars, What? You guys did this to her on her birthday. A happy birthday. Equality, we could be unfair and cruel to the greatest superstars no matter their gender. She barely made it to her birthday after that attack. Oh, horrendous physical assault on the court. She came out, she didn't make a big deal about it, she said it's fine, they storm the court, this stuff happens, people are just,
Starting point is 00:09:01 they're just hateful. They're hateful to my girl, who 45 by the way and the loss shoots too much 40 shots a game that's not the right way to play that's not even close my boy cook Volume shooter let's go 20 shots a game show me something that's accurate floppers They need to find they need to find their Anthony Edwards Let's go. 20 shots a game. Show me something. Yeah, that's accurate. Flopper. They need to find their Anthony Edwards. Where they're Tony Campbell. Go ahead, Lucy.
Starting point is 00:09:31 I want it to be Hannah Stolke, but she has not played well lately. But there is an injury. It's all right. Caitlin has never done anything wrong ever, and she never will. No, not one time. Put it on the poll, Juju, at LeBatard Show. Who was more rabid and rage-filled today? Jeremy on Kyle Lowry or Lucy on...
Starting point is 00:09:53 Kaitlin Clark. All right, so this top five, Stu Godz, is a, we're closing a loop. Yes. So the book on Mike Evans is, he's a first ballad hall of famer, but he's never top five in his position group and never has been in terms of guys you'd pick.
Starting point is 00:10:07 So Jess sent me a tweet from Booger McFarland over the weekend saying that Mike Evans is a surefire first ballot hall of famer, but not top five at his position. So I put together the Mike Evans top five first ballot hall of famers who aren't top five at their position. How about that?
Starting point is 00:10:26 All right, so this was, you were cooking since last night. Yes, no Mike Evans is not on the list, he has naming rights, okay? Okay, so it's the Mike Evans honorary top five. Is it all the sports or just football? Just football, Danelle. Okay, any OLI or just? Nope, I got just a straight five for you.
Starting point is 00:10:42 All right, number five. DeAndre Hopkins. First ballot Hall of Fame. I'm not even certain if he's top 20 at his position right now in the NFL. Well, right now, because he's older, but but in general, body of work, you're you're saying that's a Hall of Fame career, but he's but he's old. It's a first ballot Hall of Fame career, who is not top five at his position.
Starting point is 00:11:07 All right, so this is just an aging players list. Well, I mean, it's my list. I mean, but that's a lot less fun. We'll find out. You could just stick to your convictions and say DeAndre Hopkins was never a top five wide receiver in my personal record book. OK, well, he was at one point, but he's not now.
Starting point is 00:11:26 But that was Booger's point. Mike Evans isn't a top five player at his position right now. I mean, that goes without, almost goes without saying, but Booger said it. Right now, or a pro football references Hall of Fame monitor has De'Adri Hopkins at 71.19, 39th among wide receivers.
Starting point is 00:11:42 The average is 103.63, so first ballad's gonna be. So not first ballad either. Yeah, I don't think it's gonna be a stretch. It's gonna be a stretch. The first ballad guy. Oh well, but it's now, so now the list is aging players who might be borderline Hall of Famers, and this was you cooking all night
Starting point is 00:11:55 putting together the top five. Number four, Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson is a first ballad Hall of Famer. I don't care what anyone tells me. One is Super Bowl, should have won a second Super Bowl. Perhaps he's played his way out of the Hall of Fame as I've said multiple times since he joined Denver. So not first ballot. He'll get another opportunity next year, but he is not currently a top five player in his own position. He's not. Right. I'm not certain he ever has been.
Starting point is 00:12:22 Right now Russell Wilson is 88.37 in the Hall of Fame monitor. The average is 1 of 3.58. He is 21st among the quarterfamers. So the list is aging players who aren't Hall of Famers. Even those two gots is seeing their first ballot. First ballot. Yeah, I know. He sounds like... I think...
Starting point is 00:12:39 Russell Wilson's getting their first ballot. It doesn't seem like it after cooking. You better retire today if you want to get in. I feel like that one was better than your number five. Thank you. You were cooking all night on this. Number three. Matthew Stafford.
Starting point is 00:12:52 First ballot Hall of Famer, he is one of Super Bowl with the Rams. He is not, and I don't think he's ever been top five at his position. There we go. We're cooking these last two. He's here with quarterbacks. 79.01 again, it's 103.50. He's 25th among the quarterbacks. Not a first ballot Hall of Famer. Again again it's 103.58 he's 25th among not a first ballot Hall of Famer again not Billy is delighted Billy's delighted cuz he knows
Starting point is 00:13:10 he's gonna go five for five here he knows that Stugatz's list is gonna be that bad the thing is we've done this so many times specifically with Cordrex where Troy Aikman I think is in the 50s and he's in the Hall of Fame so these numbers don't really I mean Billy thinks Kirk Cousins is the first ballot Hall of Famer. Before the injury. Number two. Sorry. Number two, Dan Devonte Adams.
Starting point is 00:13:28 Devonte Adams is a first ballot hall of famer. I am not certain he is or ever has been a top five player at his position. I will be totally honest here, Stugatz. Devonte Adams represents one of my worst scouting assessments in the history of talking about sports. I once said that's not a number one receiver. I said he was bad flatly. I think most tweets are still out there. His number is 63.88 and the average Hall of Fame for wide receivers is 103.63. He's 49th amongst wide receivers. So not a Hall of Fame. You guys may have been right about that. Okay, so not.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Yeah, Devonte Adams, bad. Number one. Julio Jones. Another old guy. Well, Julio Jones at one point, perhaps was the best wide receiver in the NFL. I remember thinking to myself, he might be the best wide receiver of all time.
Starting point is 00:14:24 But those years are way behind us, Dano. He has not been a top five guy in his position in like a decade. Julio Jones number one, maybe never, now that I'm thinking about it, best ever, maybe never. You know what, he's never ever been considered the best ever to play at that position or in the top five at his own position.
Starting point is 00:14:45 How about that? The average number for Hall of Famers for wide receiver is one of 3.63. Julio Jones, 108.6. Hall of Famer. Yes! Yes! We're selling Hall of Famer! Took it all night! Stugats got one right!
Starting point is 00:14:59 Do I have the answer? Stugats was right! Holy! Stugats was right! Hall of Famer! Hall of Famer! Hall of Famer! Hall of Famer!
Starting point is 00:15:07 Hall of Famer! Hall of Famer!
