Starting point is 00:00:44 Lucy we record this unnamed segment in the main part of the studio and it is coming to my attention that Dan Levitard's handwriting looks like he is the zodiac killer. It's very square and it's very scary. Look at this piece of paper. Oh my god, no lines. I think there's like a thing where like people over the age of 50 have to write in all caps. My dad does that, but he switches words. He'll go all caps to all lowercase, to cursive.
Starting point is 00:01:11 Just, I don't know what that word is. To lowercase, lowercase, lowercase, evercase, lowercase. He alternates his letters. What kind of code? Who, how is one to decipher this? Why is he writing an encrypted message on his little scrap paper? That's my question for Dan.
Starting point is 00:01:30 I'm gonna go through and write down all the cat-wise letters and see what he is trying to tell us. I don't know, but anyways, it shows a deal. Oh my God. Change the board, back to zero. Colorado lost this weekend, but they put up a hell of a fight. They really did. I had USC to cover, which was minus 22.
Starting point is 00:01:52 Obviously that lost. It was a tough weekend for me in the draft king's app. Really tough weekend there. I hate to see that. You know, you win some, you lose a lot. They, I want to give all the credits to Colorado because I do think a big part of it is how bad USC's defenses. But for Colorado to be competitive in a game
Starting point is 00:02:08 where they were down by well over the 22 point margin. And to come back and shows one, just how, you know, tenacious this team is, Deon has coached them really, really well and it shows that Lincoln Riley still doesn't know what a defense is. He's not going to learn if it's, if it's, if we made it to this point, he ain't trying it. I love it. I love it.
Starting point is 00:02:27 I like, they're Oklahoma, but in Southern California, it's the same deal. You got the Heisman quarterback, you have a weak defense, but you're gonna score so many points. He just can't get away with kicking reporters out now. They still let that happen. That's true. That is a big difference.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Also, a better tan. They still let that happen. That's true. That is a big difference. Also, better tan. Better tan. These days. Kentucky, B, Florida, Florida. Right. Florida's was still barely ranked. Now they will no longer be. Kentucky, I don't think Florida's beaten Kentucky since 2020.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Now it's like the Kentucky's third win in a row. Yeah, Mark Suips has got Florida, like kind of in his bag right now. Kentucky's a really interesting team because week five is so weird in the sense where there are a lot of teams you can look at and have a pretty decent estimate of who they are and you know what to expect this season.
Starting point is 00:03:16 But there are so many teams like Kentucky where you're like, who have you played? I don't know if I can trust you quite yet. So I'm not willing to go out and Kentucky. I loved Devon Leary at NC State. I kind of thought what we got from him last season there was so not close to the potential. He was going to get, meanwhile, this year's NC State.
Starting point is 00:03:34 Yikes. I think Kentucky could be really good, but when I look at Kentucky football, I say, that's an Aiden 14 every single year. I don't need to look at the glass. I don't need to look at the glass. That's not fair. What, I was Aiden for every year too. That's when Mark
Starting point is 00:03:46 Stubbs got it. He's copied us. They're very, they, he's coached them very well and they've been very solid. He's our next head coach. I love him. Yeah. And he makes a lot of money to just win like seven or eight games. Occasionally more. Yeah. And it's great. And they just run the ball down their opponent's neck. Well, like they did this weekend. Ray Davis had 280 rushing yards of score touchdowns. Like eighters. We also had a near upset in the SEC East.
Starting point is 00:04:18 In another, well, I guess, I see East slash SEC West, Georgia and Auburn. Georgia, man, that is a team that like every single time you've watched them, even when they would like stumble against you know, Mizzou and keep it kind of close over the past few years, you're like, you're just so much better than everyone else, just in every way, shape or form and that was watching them against Auburn.
Starting point is 00:04:39 I was like, my God, this is just, it's just not clicking the way it used to. Now I say this fully knowing the Georgia will probably win out the rest of the season and still end up being the national champion and win in the title game and beat Michigan by like 45, but it's just, it doesn't feel as connected. I don't know whether it's the changed offensive coordinator. Like Brock Bauer's had good numbers, but it felt like they weren't using them in the right situation that like, he had that that the touchdown to win the game.
Starting point is 00:05:05 Yeah, and that was it. And maybe a huge credit Auburn for playing really well defensively against Georgia knowing that he's their main weapon. I also just think like Georgia lost a ton of talent to the NFL and the last two seasons like they're more or less kind of the same team. Maybe this is like a little bit of like new players and coaches joining the mix. Like you said, so it's gonna take longer for them
Starting point is 00:05:29 to like really start dominating. I don't know, either way, they won. So their win streak is still alive, 22 games. It's great. They're still very good. Auburn though rushed 219 yards against them. That's the most George has given up since 2016. Great, it's a big deal.
Starting point is 00:05:46 And you let Peyton Thorne do that to you. You let Peyton Thorne bet on. Okay, now the SEC West, the game, probably of the weekend, LSU, Ole Miss. Too many points for my taste. You hate watching offenses score more than 45 points, right? It seems ridiculous. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Let's go to you. 45, let's not go that high. Yes, that's a season worth of points if you're an Iowa fit. Just go down a little bit. I only got to watch part of this game because I did go to the Iowa Michigan State game just for funsies, all the time. Oh, sorry, that was the game of the week.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Yeah, I wouldn't call it a, it wasn't funsies. There was nothing fun about it. And there was something so devastating about sitting and watching Iowa be like, okay, we're gonna turn the ball over and then Michigan State turned the ball over and then Michigan Stay turned the ball over and then I was on the ball over like back and you're like looking at the little ticker Yeah, the scoreboard. It's just like wow another touchdown It is it is one of those great days where it's like yep, same sport. Yeah, we're all playing the same sport here with vastly different
Starting point is 00:06:43 Outcomes it's it's crazy I did get to catch a lot of the highlights and there were so many from this game. LSU's defense does not look good. We actually talked about it earlier today of how Brian Kelly beating Alabama last year may have been one of the worst things. Yeah, right. The expectations, like skyrocketed at that point. It's very weird. I feel like in a lot of ways LSU fans had to convince themselves about Brian Kelly as much as like, as much, very weird marriage there. I don't know. I'm intrigued to see where it goes from here. Two losses this early in the season is pretty bad when you have expectations to maybe win the conference or at least like your division.
Starting point is 00:07:27 But yeah, it, Brian Kelly was not LSU's first choice for the job. So now as soon as like you see a crack, the fans are like, well, we didn't like that, we didn't want that guy. We wanted a different guy. We wanted Lincoln Riley or whatever. So it's very interesting seeing the fan reaction to all of this. It's very LSU. They were telling me in Taylor that he was destined to win a national
Starting point is 00:07:47 championship in YouTube. Maybe he will. Not in your two. I mean, not in your two. Yeah. But they're like, we all do it in year two down here. Okay. All right. All right. Duke Notre Dame. Oof. Uh, I, I had the, maybe the worst part of working here. And I mean this with all of the love in the world. Jess has been such a wonderful friend to me and it's made me realize I'll watch her for the butt. No, I've watched Notre Dame games and I want them to win now.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Oh, that's for you. Cause I'm like, oh, I want Jess to be happy with them like, oh man, so sweet. But Duke is fine. But Duke, okay, I know, we've already talked about this enough, enough feeling bad for Duke. They're good, they're gonna be fine. Stop patronizing Duke, they're fine.
Starting point is 00:08:26 It's my Disney set. They're good. And you know what, credit to his mom, it was a very cute little arm band thing. They showed her on the broadcast lot. She looks like a nice lady. She really does. But they lost.
Starting point is 00:08:38 And it doesn't really matter because Notre Dame's technically not in the conference, but this also I will mention, Notre Dame's 30th consecutive ACC regular season win, which breaks the record that Florida State had, although Florida State was in the ACC in Notre Dame's not, so I don't know how they can technically count that as breaking a record, it doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:08:55 It doesn't matter, it's a lot. This game really solidified me on, you know, the hype around Duke wasn't like just a fluke, oh, they built, they were good. They were good, they built beat No, they were good. Yeah. They'll beat Dabo and Clemson. I think what Mike Elko has done at Duke is, I mean, you have to put him in kosher the year conversations along with Dianne, but it's, it is insane just how quick of a turnaround he has brought into that program. And you're already hearing his name. Just it's all the talk around Michigan State and who they were. Yeah. Is Mike Elka?
Starting point is 00:09:25 When you're a G5 school or a school like Duke, I do hate to say and you do good. It's not you're not long for this world. Yeah. You're not saying he's gonna leave. I'm not saying that, but you know, if a team wants to pay him a ton of money, you could not blame him. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:42 We have a top five list and it is the top five teams you didn't know are five and oh, we're at the point in the season where at this point, if you haven't lost yet, you're doing pretty good. You've probably played a couple conference teams, couple non-conference games, maybe in FCS school, but still credit to you. Lucy, number five. Number five. Now, I know this team is five and oh, because if it is September, this team is over there. That is the win. Syracuse. Oh no.
Starting point is 00:10:10 That would have been a great answer. So close. So close. Number five, Maryland. Woo. Just something about Maryland and September. They have Ohio State this weekend. So we're either going to see if Maryland is a legit team or if time will course correct.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Like it always does. And then October hits, Maryland loses. see if Maryland's a legit team or if time will course correct. Like it always does. And then October hits Maryland loses. And everything is back to the way it should be in the world. But Taliah is an amazing quarterback. Could be one of the best in the big 10 if not the best. Keep an eye on him. Keep an eye.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Keep an eye. He's got it in the jeans. Something in that family. But yes, Maryland is undefeated. Because it's September. They should be. Number four four Louisville I guess the other day in this weekend barely eaten one out again against NC State on Friday night weird game
Starting point is 00:10:55 Good good for them A lot of hard games ahead for them, but they're unfeded right now Well, the most kind of tough for me because they get on my nerves because every time they play my dad takes me and says You know the quarterback. I went to high school with his dad. I said, I heard you last time. I heard you last time. So Jack Plummer respect. Yeah. Through a weird duck of an interception the other night. It's Jeff Brahman at Louisville is how it's supposed to be. This is just the natural order of things. Number three, JMU. First in the Sun Belt standings, but still ineligible in the postseason because they moved
Starting point is 00:11:27 up to FBS and there's like a weird two year ineligibility period for them, so that stinks, but they're 5 and 0. It's still good. It's so stupid, they are so good. A few weeks ago we did the Why Would You Schedule Them. Yeah. I can't remember if they were on the list. They were.
Starting point is 00:11:42 But they should be. Yeah. Yeah. They are a very, very good football team football team arguably. No, it's not even argument They are the best team in the state of Virginia. It's not It's not slow liberty. What do we do with lip? They're forward now right now. I think you don't acknowledge liberty Okay, number two is Missouri Ranked the beat Kansas State talked about a couple weeks ago pretty crazy They've got good wide receivers or quarterback
Starting point is 00:12:06 Through four touchdowns this weekend 395 yards. It's a lot. Let's see. How does that make you feel? It's one of those things where it's like I hate to am sitting in Sioux-Gas' chair So it feels very like do it against you know somebody in the SEC Well do it against Georgia do it against Georgia, but they kind of did last year almost Yeah, I'm having fun watching this Mizzou team, so I'm not, I'm excited to see what they continue to do. I think it'd be fun if we get a little shake up in the SEC.
Starting point is 00:12:30 If there's ever a year to do it, it's right now. Yeah. Number one, because no one knew that they were 5-0 Air Force. I did. We scored a lot of points this year too. They've had four games where they've scored more than 38 points. That's a lot. You made the Armed Forces are scoring more than my team?
Starting point is 00:12:45 Ha ha ha ha. I don't know. I really can find. We have a big weekend this weekend. Red River Showdown, Notre Dame Louisville, ranked game, Kentucky and Georgia, which I'm pretty excited for now. Who are you excited for, Loose? Oh, Texas Oklahoma, last big 12.
Starting point is 00:13:02 Can I call you Loose? Yeah, any time. Last big 12 version of this game, I'm, last big 12. Can I call you loose? Yeah, any time. Okay. Last big 12 version of this game, I'm really, really excited. I think Oklahoma's defense has been a lot better than we're used to, so I can't wait to see how it plays out. We may need to start a dialogue about Oklahoma. I don't know, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Next week, too soon, too soon.
