Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Giraffe Kings Network. The all-new Hyundai Kona electric SUV, it charges fast and goes far. It's how we made it more wild. It's how we made it more one. Stugatz, I would like to show you and the shipping container and assortment of videos here. A couple of them from Udonis Haslam. It's not, I don't think it's his podcast. I think it's Mike Miller's podcast, but maybe it's both him and Mike Miller.
Starting point is 00:00:42 It's OJs is the new podcast they have. And Udonis Haslam is saying a bunch of things on that podcast that continue to get people's attention We will get to that in a second But locally here in Miami the biggest star that we have anywhere in Miami and we haven't talked about him in many weeks Is Leonel Messi? I am seeing still everywhere still gods everywhere I go the city is wallpapered with fandom for this international superstar. Who has gotten so good at his fame that this video I'm about to show you, because everywhere he goes it's an onslaught. If he goes to publics, if he goes anywhere in South Florida,
Starting point is 00:01:17 people, this tiny person, and he's trying to be normal, and I'm sure it's more normal here than it is in Argentina or any, almost anywhere else in the world that he would go outside of America, but he's gotten very good at autographs at being bothered by people and having his privacy invaded. And this person takes advantage of a traffic stop to throw a jersey for him to sign inside of his car and video tapes, the signing of that Jersey. And it's gotta be weird to live that way. Yolkitch has said that it makes him sad that people are always photographing him everywhere he goes. He's not allowed to feel like a human being. I'm tired of Jokich. Everything makes him sad. The NBA winning championships, having this stand on the podium, signing autographs, you know what?
Starting point is 00:02:07 Go home and stop being the best basketball player in the world. Enough. I am fascinated by this video. Number one, great toss of a Jersey. That's not easy. Especially with all the pressure there. Your hands probably a little shaken. You got a very tight window here in traffic. Messi puts down the window and Messi is pretty casually great about this. Kind of somebody and I'm not saying he recognizes that a camera's there. It looks like from that video he doesn't recognize that he's on camera there.
Starting point is 00:02:33 This is the most famous person on the planet and that is just literally someone on the side of the street asking you for their time and he doesn't know that he's being filmed. At least it doesn't know that he's being filmed at least I Doesn't seem that way and he is giving that moment that that person a moment for their lifetime They say don't meet your heroes and he is everybody's hero Okay, he's most people's hero and this all across his globe and he's giving them great moments like that I feel like even if he didn't know he was being filmed though being that famous He's sort of have to go you have to move through the world assuming that there are cameras on you.
Starting point is 00:03:07 Always. And it's a testament to him that he just goes with it and does it because he knows, A, if he doesn't, it'll make him look bad publicly. But also it is, it's making someone, if you're that famous, I think you have to recognize, you have a responsibility to recognize how much you mean to people and then act accordingly. Because what's one moment in his day could be the best moment of someone else's life. But they're gonna be all- I'm not saying it's fair or that it's healthy for that person to live that way, but that's what it comes with now. I would ask all of you those stew-gots, because my viewing Messi from afar, the entirety of his career before he's gotten here. I'd always
Starting point is 00:03:47 thought that he's stoic, very, you know, not very interesting in interviews, not necessarily guarded, but just a humble, trying to be humble person walking through the earth and not saying anything interesting that reveals any part of his personality. People don't like know him. Articles. Give me does Bobo was pretty good. A lot of people have written about him. A lot of people have tried to do media stories, documentaries about him. I still don't feel like I know him. All I know about him is that he's really famous and he handles those moments like that because he's gotten used to being very famous for a long time, but it feels like the shell of a personality. Like I don't act. I know his
Starting point is 00:04:28 excellence. I know he's an artist. I don't feel like I know what's in there. He's a people person. That's surprising to me, but he doesn't want you to know. Like he doesn't think you're entitled to know what's in there. Look, he's, he's one of the most studied athletes in, in global history. I don't actually think there's much there in terms of interest. Like he's just a low key guy. He's one of the most studied athletes in global history. I don't actually think there's much there in terms of interest. Like he's just a low key guy.
Starting point is 00:04:48 He's a family man and he appreciates what surrounds him. But I think what you're seeing there is actually happening in South Florida. And that's probably a welcome change of pace from what his life was in other places that he played at. He's enjoying retirement. Like that's what it is. He's here, he's having a good time.
Starting point is 00:05:07 His friends come over, they play some games with him. And that's it. I mean. Has he moved to Boca yet? I mean. I mean, that's where they play, right? I guess so. Has anyone considered like how the driver of the car
Starting point is 00:05:19 who got the autograph just happened to have his jersey in the car? He clearly knew where he was gonna be. He was chasing it down, right? Yeah, he was waiting along his route hoping to run into him. I don't like that. He's probably done that multiple times until that happened. I didn't even think of that.
Starting point is 00:05:33 I was like, oh, cool. We're the media to mess with. No, you have to. Oh, no, he's stalking him. But that his whole life is people are staked out somewhere to see where he's going to come out of. And it's super weird. But when you say enjoying his retirement.
Starting point is 00:05:44 He's a public somehow. That's. But when you say enjoying his retirement. Is that public somehow? That's correct. When you say enjoying his retirement, it would appear that Udonis Haslam was enjoying a semi-retirement while in uniform for the last several years. And now he has chosen broadcasting as his next career. And there have been a couple of things.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Well that and highlight general managing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Much to Mike's name. You mentioned Publix and he said the other day on this podcast with Mike Miller that if he saw Kevin Garnett or Paul Pierce, we have two videos here to play for the audience. He has said two things recently that have been celebrated and paid attention to nationally. One of them is saying that Duncan Robinson, have you heard this? No.
Starting point is 00:06:31 Let's listen to this together so Stu Gods can hear it for the first time. We ain't saying scorers, we ain't saying basketball players. The word upstairs says shooters. Shooters. So that's the reason why- In a shooting competition, Duncan Robinson, yes, I think he will be Katie gave him the
Starting point is 00:06:51 David Samson. Okay. Duncan Robinson, a better shooter. Look at the face of freeze that face of Mike Miller. When he's hearing that comment, talking to you, Don is Haslam and you can see the look of the wilderness on Mike Miller's face. Do you agree with that? Stugansk that Duncan Robinson is a better shooter than Kevin Durant. I do believe first off, if you don is says it, then yes, I believe it, but I do believe well, that's my rule, Dan. You have your rules. I am my rule. I'm scared of him. Well, he's UD. I mean, he's the captain of the team. He's the captain of the city. He runs the city, but I will say this if Duncan Robinson, no one guarding them, if he takes a hundred threes
Starting point is 00:07:30 at Kevin Durant, takes a hundred threes, I believe Duncan Robinson has a very good chance of hitting more than KD. Yes. He was basically asking shot for your life. So you got, I know, I would, there's a lot of pressure that goes with God. So you want to shop for your life. You're supposed to be handling pressure between the two. Kevin Durant or Duncan Robinson, Katie doesn't like me. So he would miss on purpose.
Starting point is 00:07:51 I'd go Duncan Robinson. I would congrats. You're dead. Weren't you supposed to be dressed like Larry Bird today? What? Be an honor. Weren't you supposed to be suffering? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:02 I seem like a very lexical, disgusting Larry Bird costume. Where'd you suppose it suffering? Yeah, I seem like Larry Leger. I'm discussing Larry Bird costume. Where'd you? It was there maybe. Listen, I just show up here. If someone puts a costume in front of me, I put the costume on your own jobs. Do God's.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Well, I don't know. I don't know what the costume is. I didn't order it. I'll wear it. You said you were going to do it on Thursday. Well, how about tomorrow? Are you going to do it? Like you said you were gonna do it today.
Starting point is 00:08:25 You did say it was Thursday. Someone hands him the costume when he walks in and makes sure that he doesn't say, I'll be right back, get a heater. Cause then he'll do that. And then you gotta, he just hopes he forget that, you know, he's here. Is he gonna do it tomorrow?
Starting point is 00:08:38 It's only, he's not gonna be here that long tomorrow. I'd like the payoff of him doing it an entire show, but we'll forget by Monday because we're a shit show. I mean, I'll do it whatever day you guys want me to do it. I prefer to do it today. The day you promised you would do it. How about a third? How about next Thursday costume pusher, man?
Starting point is 00:08:55 He said he was going to do it. We're on every day. He'll get to it. I will. I will. Thank you. Ever worn, Dan. I want.
Starting point is 00:09:01 I want. He wants to wear. Very demanding. I know. I know. He came in. He came in the other day at a meeting. I swear to God, we're having a pre-production meeting.
Starting point is 00:09:08 Pre-production meeting. It's been a good week of shows. He walks in here and he's like, I write, takes a terrible tone and he's like, more people need to be dressing up on Dan Lebatard. I know everyone's animal's blood. And also, I demand that people wear costumes or all like shit. All right Let me check in with a grid of death. Oh what we've paid most of them off still not enough. He's blood thirsty
Starting point is 00:09:34 He owes from four years ago He's paid like three punishments in five years Let these breathe, you know know you also don't want to have costumes every day because then you're desensitizing the audience. He hasn't had any in five years. He did Rocky not too long ago. And I was shirtless. The other video I'm not answering your question Charlotte the other video I want to show. No has loans. No, I you know what? I will exchange answers to things you want to know in exchange for people wearing costumes Serving their punishments. Okay, Lucy. If there's something you'd want to know, I would like to answer it
Starting point is 00:10:16 I'd like the answer to Charlotte's question. What's your favorite costume you've ever worn mother at work you timed? Oh Are we in convenience? Again, I ask him about costumes. Is that really something that's happening right now? I have. I'll take the trade of him answering my questions. If I wear a costume, any questions, your favorite costume, kinky boy. Was it Gumby? I've been boxed in. I've got checkmated there by Lucy in a way that feels deeply uncomfortable. Way to go, Lucy.
Starting point is 00:10:48 I promised I would do this. Yeah, and so now I have to do it. I don't even know the character that I was playing. It was the day that I came in here. I'm forgetting because I'm fried, but I came in here and it was supposed to be the day that four of us had competing Johnny Depp characters and none of the other three showed up and so I was the only one dressed as whatever
Starting point is 00:11:10 character it was I was supposed to be on behalf of Johnny Depp whose name is escaping me right now and that character has now become a pillow that's in my house that has my giant fat face smiling. One of my teeth is toothless because I like to have sex in costumes. I'm going to go with Jack Sparrow. There's a mad like to have sex and there's a mad hatter oh there's a mad hatter yeah but you also didn't it was supposed to be a december pageant where we were supposed to have a competition of who did the best Johnny Depp character and the winner lost the punishment that they had to pay off but you didn't do it in death semper and then you also didn't communicate you were doing it and you're like where is everyone like no one knew.
Starting point is 00:11:45 And where are the other three costumes that were supposed to be this that no one did because I have to chase everyone around to serve their puny? They didn't know, I mean no communication. Well yeah, they wanted to coordinate. Yeah, how a pageant worked. You basically took it off the table for you. Imagine if Miss Massachusetts just showed up one day at an empty banquet hall and was like where are all the competitors?
Starting point is 00:12:03 I've got a good one. It's not how competitions work. Speaking of Miss Massachusetts, I wasn't her. Oh, but you did win the contest of greatest poetry person competing against no other poets because no one else tried to make a career out of poetry. There were a lot of entrance down. Also, it was there was a another person who won it with me I couldn't get to that. I can't believe I can't you stink I forgot I forgot I can't you I
Starting point is 00:12:37 Can't get to the you don't as a has little video
