This is the Dunlabel Tart Show with the Stugat Sput cast! and the detergial with stew cuts, starring all things for God. No one knows the rules of the Probe, except Pete Mani.
Starting point is 00:01:10 I consumed exactly one minute of Probe-Bull coverage. Ooh, which one was it good? I think not, I would. I know, I will give you the minute that I consumed. The minute that I consumed was, Gino Smith dropped back to pass and then decided to run. And I heard the voices that we're talking about and I was trying to recognize them.
Starting point is 00:01:29 And one of them was McAfee and then it was Herb Street. And it didn't seem like anyone knew what the rules were. He had run, but he wasn't supposed to run. It was flag football. And all I noticed was, wow, I'm surprised that that stadium is full of people for this. That football is so popular that that stadium is full and that no one knows what the actual rules are to the flag football. Well, there's actually a controversial ending to the game because it seemed like the same situation was going on with the rules where
Starting point is 00:01:57 Peyton Manning seems to have been the only person that knew the actual rules of the game. And he did not like the final play of the game where he was taken and he was running on the field to protest the outcome of the flag football game in the pro bowl games. He wasn't happy. It I don't think that he won the argument. But at the end, what we had, Peyton Manning fighting for was legitimately and seriously the rules. Yeah. Oh, yeah, he was pissed. You didn't see this. He was mad. I was running on the field and he loves rules. He loves rolls, yes. He was screaming at the official, which I believe if I heard right is a big 10 official. So I think they had college referees calling the game.
Starting point is 00:02:32 I don't exactly know, but he was very mad at how it ended and he was like yelling at Kirk Cousins and Kirk Cousins was saying they told me I was allowed to kneel. Like very, like don't come after me, paid manning please, I'm sorry, I was just following what they told me I could do.
Starting point is 00:02:45 And then Eli had like a gatorade bath afterwards. This is a whole thing. It was very exciting, Pro Bowl games. I believe the rules were, is that once you got inside the five, you were not allowed to run the ball. And so the NFC, there was a late fourth down where to try and ice the game, it wouldn't complete, but there was a flag and so a penalty flag. And so then the NFC had the ball inside the five and Kirk cousins
Starting point is 00:03:10 went to take a knee to kneel out the clock and Peyton Manning, the second Kirk cousins knee hit the ground, Peyton Manning runs out of the field. That's against the rules. And he's like yelling this. He was still mad about it, like 15 minutes later, like how seriously competitive he was about the AFC versus NFC flag football game that he was huming that like they they violated the you can't run inside the five rule. Do you guys think because I was wondering this, do you guys think that Payton is just super competitive and he really wants to win the pro board?
Starting point is 00:03:38 Do you think that it's because Eli beat him? It's such a great question because Eli has always known the rules and the rules when and there's my big dumb face brother winning this goddamn game when he doesn't care about anything the way I care about it. It's why I'm the more successful brother because I adhere to the rules and Eli won because he was on the sidelines doing what I read that he was with. Oh, he was hanging around with Pete Davidson, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:01 He'd be pretty twice as a super bowl. I mean, not certain who won that battle, be honest with you. They were very serious about the whole thing. Like they had designed plays, they were calling the plays, they were arguing about which play they wanted to run. Imagine what it's like to be Peyton Manning's little brother. Like when you're nine, yeah, it's probably been that for Eli Manning for his entire life getting buried by being the second manning. Imagine what it's like to be coop. But I do what it's like being arched. Oh boy. Eli seems to take it all and stride though. He seems to have like a really funny personality.
Starting point is 00:04:37 He knows he's just a different guy than Peyton Manning. And if anything like like Stugat said not because he beat Tom Brady twice in a super role though that certainly helps. Feels like Eli Manning won the war there. Yeah. Oh, but overall like I like, you know, expectations, all of it. Like style like he sort of got to take it way less seriously and have about the same amount of success. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:58 And have fun. I saw that he was a top 10. I think if I read this right, he's a top 10 quarterback in both receiving yards and touchdowns, which is like Eli Manning, who knew? I kind of think maybe, and like this might be crazy. And you guys, I kind of, every time I try to say something that may be crazy now, I think about it
Starting point is 00:05:15 and think what you want this on a billboard, but I'll say this, Eli Manning, I wonder if he was the more talented Manning brother, and realized he could just kind of coast by On like seize his whole life, you know what I mean? Like he naturally didn't have to try his hard and he could be like the C student quarterback who has you know Decent success while not taking it so seriously and he could just live like a more chill life and still have the success in the same number of Superboels as Peyton and he didn't have to work his heart. You chuck it a couple of A's, you know, a couple of A pluses when you play Tom Brady, you beat him twice and then boom.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Better career. Well, that's when you need to flex. You flex when you need to not all the time because then what happens? You're going to go into Germany and some weird thing happens with your neck and then all of a sudden you can do everything again. Peyton had the better career than Eli Manning. Well, they won as many Super Bowls, right? But what you're saying is a good point because Eli seemed to take it a little bit less stressfully. You guys have seen this on God Bless Football.
Starting point is 00:06:18 You've seen a more relaxed Eli Manning who you know today is texting his brother, hey, I beat you there at the end. You knew the rules, but I, you know, you know today is texting his brother. Hey, I beat you there at the end. You know the rules, but I you know you know he's got you. He is burying his brother today and Peyton is still enraged about knowing the rules and it didn't help him. And also, if the reverse happened and Peyton beat Eli, Eli is so non-plussed about everything. And he's like, ah, you beat me in the proble. Where it's like, it's never been caring and not caring. When you care about something, it hurts when you lose it.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Whereas Eli doesn't care about anything. Like he, you know, Kurt, he'll do a middle finger on live television. He's just sort of living life having fun. Billy might have this right, as a life principal. He'll be a little worse, a little happier, a little less uptight. How do you think Peyn reacted when he found out Tyler Huntly was on his roster?
Starting point is 00:07:10 How many, I think Tyler Huntly had two passing touchdowns this year? How did that happen? He did. They just ran out of options. Clearly. Sheesh. Oh, we talked last week about three Carolina panthers quarterbacks, head better stats. Three.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Three. But the game isn't marketing. It's still. It's just the NFL. Look, I don't know if you guys like the way that I experienced yesterday is as a football day, sad. Very sad. Just a sad day. Oh, football's gone now. You're going to wait another week and they're going to throw this slop out there just to, oh, because you need something because you're addicted. I will say I do admire the NFL because the pro bowl in its previous format stunk. And it seemed like they had a levitar show shipping container kind of pitch meeting or it's like, well, what can we do?
Starting point is 00:07:54 All right. Well, a wide receiver is going to jump on a trampoline and try and catch a one handed pass behind his back. That was awesome. Yeah. There's going to be, you know, somebody pushing Eli Manning on a sled. There's going to be kick-tack toe where long snappers going to try and hit the bottom square.
Starting point is 00:08:08 A carnival of football. Right. And, and honestly, I watched a decent chunk of it. And I had fun. I, I mostly enjoyed it. But I also went to both NHL All-Star events this weekend. And I would be totally fine if All-Star games just went away. They're just, they're not interesting. They're not fun. They're not go. They're not fun to go to. There's what? Why? Why are we doing this? I know it's like a big 10 pole event for the NFL or big leagues to host all their corporate partners. And it's and it's a money driver and it's a 10 pole event for answered all your questions.
Starting point is 00:08:38 I know, but they're just they're not entertaining. The NBA All Star. I mean, I guess the Elymending healthy NBA Allstar game, but most of this stuff It's not a good product that they're putting out there the NHL game and particularly the skills contest was boring it's just it's not fun to watch Professional athletes and we know when the compete at their very highest level are amazing at what they do How to try have hearted Lee most of the time. It's just not fun to watch Stu gots mistakes drink all in for How to try half-heartedly most of the time. It's just not fun to watch Jake Owen for Erin Waxers
Starting point is 00:09:08 former NFLer Mike Golding senior and country singer Jake Owen you are you are now aware of the of the Amazing mistake that I have made here this week where I had a 20 minute conversation with a guy that I thought was Our Rogers thought was my quarterback, but it was not it was it was Jacob and so I have had it go ahead I don't even know what to say so when I sat down at the players meeting Jack Wagner was on my right and on my left was Jacob and Marty Fish and they proceeded to tell me that story to which I'm thinking you're a sports person you're a jet span you know who Aaron Rogers is. Aaron Rogers has been on your friggin show.
Starting point is 00:09:48 I've hugged Aaron Rogers. And you actually thought Jacob was Aaron Rogers and Kudos to him for playing along with it. Because he had to be thinking you're the biggest tool in the world, which you are. Yeah, thank you. I was stunning to me. Better even have the same haircut now, by the way. Well, listen, in my defense, Jacob and says that happens to him all the time And in my defense when we did the interview with Jacob and that's going to air on this on this week's episode of God bless football
Starting point is 00:10:14 The second he got up from this inflatable couch. There was a kid waiting there, okay? With an Aaron Rogers Jersey wanting Aaron's autograph. There is no in your defense Yeah, keep doing that as fine someone There is no in your defense. Yeah. A kid doing that is fine. Someone who's been in the sports world for decades, there is no shot that that's acceptable or in my defense worthy. He looks like a man. Oh, I mean, I don't know Jake Owen is.
Starting point is 00:10:38 Yeah, so Jake Owen, like he really sunk into it. He did. Kudos to him for that. He decided like a minute or two and like, hey, I'm just gonna fly, I'm gonna roll. Cause you know there's some big time people who wouldn't know. They might have been offended, kudos to him. What a good dude.
Starting point is 00:10:52 But now that I've had time, now that I know what happened, right? So I've had time to think back of the actual conversation that's had. Like the fact that I stared at Jay Cohen and looked at him and said, hey, you're my quarterback. And he looked back at me and said, I am your quarterback. And then I hugged him. So at what point?
Starting point is 00:11:11 What I want to know at what point did he realize you weren't just joking around and you were serious and then he decided to play along with it? I think Marty kind of tipped him off like just like just roll like roll with it. Because Marty's really good friends with me. Yeah, yeah. He's on our next guest. I've had sleepless nights. I mean, I was up all night.
Starting point is 00:11:28 I've been thinking about this all night. I've been running through the entire conversation I have with Jacob and who I thought was Aaron Rodgers yesterday. I am mortified, but sometimes, listen, you got to face your demons. And right now, I am facing one of my many demons, Jacob and his with us. It's nice of here. Yeah. But I'm wondering if you would have ever even had me
Starting point is 00:11:48 on your show in general if you had no thought I was error. No, we were gonna get to you because we're really good friends with Marty. I could tell him Marty, like one of the best, one of our best friends. And the fact that Marty let this go for 20 minutes, I'll let it hit. I think Marty didn't even realize either what was going on
Starting point is 00:12:04 until he did catch on. Yeah. And then you just played a log with it. Of course. But Jake, like, to be honest with you, like, you're the, you're the target this week. You're the guest that we wanted on. Like if my choice was you or actually Aaron Rogers, we would choose you. Well, thank you.
Starting point is 00:12:18 Well, thank you for sinking into it the way you did yesterday on the, on the driving ring. Yeah. So we were on the driving range yesterday and, so we were on the driving range yesterday, and well, Johnny comes over and is like, you were really fired up to see me, and I had no idea who you were. And so, I was, and no offense,
Starting point is 00:12:35 but you just kind of caught me off guard, and these type of situations when a lot of guys will come, hey man, how have you been? And you get in that, like, I'm great man, how have you been? And so I'm good with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude.
Starting point is 00:12:48 And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude.
Starting point is 00:12:56 And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude.
Starting point is 00:13:04 And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And so I go with you dude. And'm sorry. I'm sorry. What, at what point in our conversation did you decide, hey, I'm just gonna sink into this? Well, I didn't know yet that you thought I was Aaron Rodd. I just, I just thought you thought you knew me until you're, until you said, word for word. You started creeping out a little bit because you're like, oh my God, dude, I'm seriously like, like you, like it went from like an open conversation
Starting point is 00:13:22 to like you leaning in whispering and that's how it works about things that I had no idea what you were talking about. And you're like, yo, yo, yo, man, we are so fired up about you coming to New York City, you know? You're in that moment, I realized I was like, oh, he thinks I'm Aaron Rodger. And so I thought when I was like,
Starting point is 00:13:38 oh man, I can't wait to come to New York, yeah. Lean right into it. Yeah, lean into it. How about the part where I asked you about mushrooms? Yeah, I didn't know if I could say that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, totally. You're like, what about those mushrooms?
Starting point is 00:13:49 I was talking in my last two weeks on tour with it today. I love mushrooms, so I was like, okay, I just, maybe we do know each other. So you started having a lot of fun with it. I got the other angle from Mordy on it where there was a lot of fun with it. I got like the the other angle from from Marty on it where there was a lot of nonverbal communication. Well you walked off and Marty's like did he think you were Aaron Rogers? Yeah I think so.
Starting point is 00:14:14 What's great about that conversation happening with you guys is the moment he walked away from you I walked up to him and he's like brother I got my quarterback and I'm looking around because I knew Rogers was on the course earlier Was on the drive and I was like all right. Yeah, you must have got him But I turned our video producer Lewis and I was like Jacob when looks a little like Aaron Rogers. There's no way that's I know way time out Jason word just said Jason word said that he did He's working anything my first year here and Aaron was obviously last year too. And Aaron's hair was longer like mine.
Starting point is 00:14:46 And there were so many times I was coming down the fairway and people were screaming. Aaron! Aaron! And I'm not going to acknowledge it then. I'm Aaron. But this one kid, man. He was running at me with like a green bay jersey. And he was like Aaron! Aaron! Aaron! And I didn't know what to do.
Starting point is 00:15:02 I was like, should I, like, pretend? And then the guy was like like that's not Aaron Rogers And the kid just looked at me and was deflated. I was like I'm Jacob though, bro I'm happy to be here Thanks for thinking I'm a lot more famous than I am about the moment though where I stared at you I said you're my quarterback. You did. You stood back to me though. No, no, no, no, no, you sunk it. You like on your quarterback. I'm your guy. I know you're your quarterback. I'm your guy. I'm your guy. I've got a hugged you. Yeah, you hugged me. Now you hugged me a couple of times more
Starting point is 00:15:38 than you should have hugged me. I was like, all right, we already hugged. It's a little unsettling that if he actually knew we had Rod treat Aaron Rogers that way Yeah, well, I started thinking about that. I was like man like Aaron Rogers is a funky guy to get to know He's great funny and whatever but he's not like touchy feely get it whatever and you were really touchy feeling Thinking that I was Aaron Rogers and I was like maybe you guys have a weird thing What the two times that I met Aaron Rogers, there's been a huge embrace. We have hugged each other. We have had conversation. It's been nice.
Starting point is 00:16:08 Like, I'm a jet fan. He's on our show a lot. I told him, you're my quarterback. You're my quarterback. You did. Yeah, I told him. Did you have any day? What was his reaction?
Starting point is 00:16:16 Well, he laughed. And then in true Aaron Rogers fashion, he looked at me. He's like, Jake, though, you really do look good, though, man. He's like, what are you 50 now? Oh, man. Oh, man. Oh, man. Oh, man. Oh man.
Starting point is 00:16:25 I can tell I'm not. When it was funny. Jake I can understand how a little kid comes up to you. When you're a little everyone seems larger than life. I can understand how a little kid thinks that you might be errant Rogers. Well it's like I just said like when a little kid comes up to you and he's excited you want to crush a little kid's dreams.
Starting point is 00:16:40 Yeah. So yeah. That's what you were doing. So that works in sports. You crushed my went Works in sports I was like did you really really think like 100 you I said the drunk No, it's totally sober but coming off a bender at the gorge I can see between dead shows you said that Like I was just out of the gorge, which is why I thought you thought you knew me because I play music and I played at the Gorge.
Starting point is 00:17:06 Oh, he does know. I don't know. So he came back to us and he's like, we have the greatest conversation. I'm like, now that he's a jetty, he's treating me differently. That's exactly what you said. Here's what he said word for word. It was like he was a totally different person, Mike.
Starting point is 00:17:24 He's so charming. I said this morning, earlier this morning, I'll never have a relationship with Aaron. said word for word, it was like he was a totally different person Mike. So Trump. And I said this morning, earlier this morning, I'll never have a relationship with Aaron like the relationship I have with a guy who I thought was it was Aaron. Yeah. He was like, you were way too nice to me. I told you earlier, you know, I'm in a profession where I really I don't just have to be nice people, but I've got a great mom and dad, man, I was raised to just be kind to people. I think the world needs more kindness.
Starting point is 00:17:44 And so when you came up fired up I'm not gonna be nice to this guy that's a way back hero in jay going but he one of the things that stuck with me was that he said Aaron's in great shape and you're you are in great shape I kept pointing to you I'm like look at the blue pants you are in great shape but you're also 150 pounds. And five foot nine, you are not NFL quarterback shape. I'm like six, two. Yeah, six, two.
Starting point is 00:18:11 I've been by driver's license, six, three. And that's a jack quarterback of all time anyway. You are not anywhere near professional athlete size at that position. You easy don't insult it. It's not insulting. I mean, I was complimented. I'm not insulted at all, but Easy, don't insult it. It's not insulting. I mean, I was complimenting you. I'm not insulting at all, but I am going to win this week.
Starting point is 00:18:28 So, ooh. Do you guys want to talk about that? Yeah. Well, I did draft you. How was your golf game? I did draft you. So you got to. Our golf game is good enough to win, I think.
Starting point is 00:18:37 I just have to put it all together. I've got the greatest caddy in the world. My dad, caddy and for me. That's awesome. As long as he keeps my head straight, and I'm ready. Hey, Mr. Rogers. Hey, guys. Caddy and for me. That's awesome. As long as he keeps my head straight. Hey, Mr. Rogers. This is Rodgers. What's your name? I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:18:52 But keep going. I want to hear. Talk about the talking. Uh, I know. I feel like I feel like I got a pretty decent chance. I played pretty well last year for my first year. I never saw the course and I finished, I think top 10 and, um, and I don't see this regularly. Like I, but you have to come into it. I didn't just show up here to just have a good time. I really do, I've always been a competitor and I love that this tournament is full of guys that made a living being competitive.
Starting point is 00:19:14 So no matter what, you know that everybody's gonna be grinding and we're all trying to win. So I'm not gonna be afraid to tell you that I'm doing the same. How do you view being a competitor as like a songwriter and a performer in the same way that these guys are competitors as athletes? Do you think it's that same sort of competitive edge?
Starting point is 00:19:30 Yeah, totally. I, when you're an open, I told people this before, when I used to open shows before I became like a headliner. Right. I was opening for everybody from Kitty Chesney to you name it Keith Urban and all everyone. And I never went out there thinking like, I'm gonna try to just get people to enjoy the show.
Starting point is 00:19:45 Like, I went out there every night, they're going, I want them to like me better than Kenny Chasdee. And it wasn't, again, it wasn't being negative, but I was always trying to show someone up, and I think that's part of being competitive. That's cool. That's like the Michael Jordan, there's always gonna be somebody here
Starting point is 00:19:59 who's the first time seeing Michael Jordan. So he always knew he wanted to put on a show, because he was like, somebody in this building has never seen me, and're going to know on the greatest ever do it. Were you guys building out the a rod bathroom of your imaginations? Is that what I
Starting point is 00:21:18 heard you discussing during the break? Towels with an A on them. You know the thing you slide the toilet paper on that's a baseball bat Hey Like that stoo gotts. You think he actually calls it the throne Probably does an actual throne an actual throne There's got to be a full length mirror in there somewhere I imagine somewhere in his house. He has a replica of David, but with his head on it This is the down libertita show with this two cats. How football analysts, David Pollock, Steve's prepared. How do you keep up with all of the games when you're traveling on Saturdays, when you're
Starting point is 00:22:04 prepping for the studio show, all of these things that you're doing during the week? How are you able to keep up with everything? Make sure that you know what you're talking about on Saturday morning. It's like you just did with Stu got so you just had blinders on and completely ignored him. That's awesome, by the way. It's the same thing. I mean, you've got to, you've got to just be dialed in. Like like the weekends in college football season, I feel like a horrible dad and a horrible parent sometimes, but I'm like, I got to be dialed in. I got to watch games. I got to make sure I know what's going on. And then, you know, during the season or during the weekdays, you know, you got to
Starting point is 00:22:38 watch a lot of tape. We're very fortunate. We have access to, you know, Apple, we have every single game in college football. And we get to, you know, watch it from the coach's copy and study and agree. So, or, you know, watch it and study and do our tapes. But thank you very much for the compliment. Nice focus there by the way to keep plugging through and not let him derail you on that. That's being awfully critical of yourself, you know, bad dad, bad husband. I mean, come on. You're working. I'm talking to work. I hear you. I hear you. I hear you. But when you're sitting there and especially when you have young kids and you're like in the wife's doing everything, that ain't good, bro. I know it. I've been there.
Starting point is 00:23:19 Oh yeah. I didn't have an excuse to go. No, it was just to you. have an excuse to go. No, it was just here. I'll go ahead. David, you said that Colorado made the right choice with Dion. You said, you don't know if Dion made the right choice. What did give me a little bit more explanation around that? Well, I just think Colorado needs needs needs prime needs something fun needs something exciting needs a reason. Listen, if you don't think game day is going to be playing prime quotes, you're out your mind, right? It's going to bring a lot of sizzle. It's going to be sexy at Colorado for the first time in football in a long, long time. So I think that he'll bring eyeballs. I just, do you really think that Colorado's
Starting point is 00:23:59 a job where you can go win and win big? I think it's a, I think it's a tough job. Yeah, he's going to work the transfer portal and he's going to bring in. I think it's a, I think it's a tough job. Yeah, he's going to work the transfer portal and he's going to bring in guys, but it's not an easy place to win. Like, Deon at Auburn, you know, if that was a chance, good Lord, Deon can go kill it. You know, he can go win and win big. So I just, I don't know how big you're going to be able to win at Colorado. Yeah, I agree. I don't know if Deon made the right decision there. Time would tell. David are how much are you gonna miss? Felica?
Starting point is 00:24:27 Oh, man. It's crazy. You know every since I've been on the show there's always been the bear and before he was the bear Felica was unreal and he he brought me in and helped me look at things different ways and you know He's got that massive huge roller decks of sports information. I've never seen anything like it. Like you literally could walk with a bar and go bare. 2007 national championship, who won? And he would know the answer like that. He would tell you the players, like, he's an amazing resource for us.
Starting point is 00:24:56 And he's been an amazing friend to me, helped me along the way everything I need. So we'll definitely miss the big fella, just his presence every week. He's fun. He's cantankarist, which makes him fun. You get to pick on him, which makes it fun. Like all of it will miss. It's like losing a teammate from the locker room. He's great. If you need a replacement on that show, I'm just putting it out there. Okay.
Starting point is 00:25:17 I'm available. Okay. I'm just because I feel like you're probably doing and I'm there for you. That's all I'm trying to tell you. So I'm I At all the people at all the people that we can find a replace bear you would be one of them. Thank you. Oh wow look at that That it feels like a back in the compliment, but I'll take it. I mean I don't think that was a compliment at all. I David we appreciate it again. We appreciate the time my friend. Don't beat yourself up. You're a great dad and great husband No problem. Thank y'all guys very much. Have a good one. All right, man Till gets with Tennessee and Florida fans. You say anything nice about Florida. Yeah, I like to stay
Starting point is 00:26:02 But I don't want to be this way. Because I'm up back with Tennessee each year every day. Wow, that was good. And you can't say 10 without the EEN. Hey everyone, it's Lucy. I'm in the swamp right now. They called the swamp because it's swampy as hell. I smell terrible, but I had a really good time. I went to a fried party, I went to a great, there was no K football game, I saw a lot of cool traditions, and now I would really like to go to a football game, college football game, that's not in the state of Florida, please. What the f*** is a volunteer? Someone tell me what a volunteer is. In the smell bad, maybe, I'm not quite sure what a volunteer is. We have a long day of tailgating. Can you just take me through the fit right now?
Starting point is 00:26:43 At least we're from Tennessee. And so Tennessee does these stupid bibs. And so I thought, miles would do the gator bibs. I've worn these every single time. We've worn, and we, like literally, if I don't wear these, we lose. I didn't wear these for the South Carolina game. That's why we lost.
Starting point is 00:26:57 I'm not an FSU fan at all, but I have to almost say the worst fan base might be UCF. Whoa, I was ready for that one. What is the feeling you get in your stomach when you hear Rocky Top? Uh-uh, severely want to throw up. Rocky Top, you'll always be Ho-ho-ho-to me!
Starting point is 00:27:15 I know this part. Did you watch the Swamp King's documentary? Absolutely. What did you think of it? Awesome, gogators! I wanted to see all the killing, murdering. They, for so long, and I'm out of the box. They left out too much. They got to put more in.
Starting point is 00:27:28 They got to put it back. Who would you guys say is the most overrated team in college football this year? Honestly, Penn State. Penn State didn't approve anything. Nerdames for bombs. Sorry, Jess, wow. Maybe Miami.
Starting point is 00:27:40 Yeah, we're going to say Miami. You watched the Dan Levitard show with two got's No Damn you Jay watch it Yeah, of course yes Not anymore not anymore but yeah absolutely every week I love Dan Levitard Dan Levitard and she got sure she got okay we love you she'll that's close She's the Iowa fan yeah, yeah,. That's close. She's the Iowa fan, yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:06 Oh, I kind of hate that reputation. The Iowa fan. That's got her up. Do you guys think Nick Sabin is washed? No, everybody should lose a Texas. Yes. See, is he cooked? Is he done? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:18 Did you not see all the cigars after our game? After we won, after we smoked their ass? Checked the Iowa score, though. So I was like, yeah, need some alcohol here and look what I found a little light. Do you know it's only 96 calories? They want us to take the mic. This is getter fan here. I didn't want her to take the mic my dad's ex girlfriend Is a Tennessee fan do you guys know her? Yeah, she's my ex-wife stepmom so yeah they used to color uh three there you go when we were hanging out say see you're the best on the show yes
Starting point is 00:28:59 damn 100% how why would you not say Dan? Yeah, Dan. I don't know, because I'm on the show. And that's two guts. Well, Stu just got it by the balls. Because that's a great name. Good, Dan. Wrong answer. Me. Now, what are your dreams and aspirations?
Starting point is 00:29:14 I really want Dan to like this video. Dan, you better go ahead and like that video and we should also work on your dependency. It sounds like Dan, she's dependent on you. Hey, we're saying how much we love Lucy. We love Lucy. Who is Dan? Great question. I was just saying that I don't think I like his last name. Dan Loftard. I wouldn't choose it. I wouldn't choose it. Look Dan if you're out there, that's what's that's what's been given to you. And that's okay. Tony Romo needs to work harder. The football story that got
Starting point is 00:29:48 my attention this weekend was the intervention being reported at CBS where multiple executives had have to have had to fly to the house of Tony Romo to I read work harder. It seems like Romo is catty-shacking his way through this through this gig. What's wrong with that? I mean, he's a quarterback. It's a side gig. He was great at it at the beginning and now they're asking him to work. It seems like he's like, yeah, it was it was described as an intervention. And Roma wants to golf. These jobs have gotten so fat and lucrative that the quarterback for the Cowboys can go get it and not do it particularly hard. Hey, I got a pause for a couple of years and now, but I thought he was doing fine. When did when did Roma deteriorate? Why is there an intervention? Is CBS protecting its product? Is Nance complaining?
Starting point is 00:30:45 Like what's happening here? It does it? What? And he's locked in for 17 million per season for how many years? I think four more. Why is it being as right? It might be more than no. I think it was a 10 year deal. They are married to him for a long time. It's more than that, Stu. God. So explain to me why there's an intervention going on around Tony Romo. It has to be that he's not working on enough. Correct. But I thought that's what the report was. It weren't fans of his prep or lack thereof. They didn't think that he was taking it seriously. Have you noticed it on the broadcast? I, uh, I'm kind of like Jess and that I only notice commentators really when there's a standalone playoff game
Starting point is 00:31:23 and I didn't think Tony Romo was bad the last game that I saw him but I'm not Like I said, I'm not watching the main game I just recently found out Greg Olson is very good because I had the opportunity to watch Greg Olson do a standalone game with no other games going up against it But also when that was happening if you're watching football or sports the way a lot of people are in multiple devices, you're seeing a great deal of praise for Greg Olson. Unusual. I, you've heard Jimmy Kimmel make fun of the fact that football broadcasting decisions were being made because somebody was reacting to what Rudy Marksky was writing in USA today. Some media.
Starting point is 00:32:02 What a name. One person before social media was dictating there was criticism and executives, you know, nobody was born dreaming of being a television executive. Like television executives don't actually have anything figured out. They like to pretend they do. But they're they're moved by oh, social media is blowing this way. And Greg Olson was getting a great deal of praise, which I'm not used to. And it was Tony Romo's praise because Tony Romo got it before Greg Olson did, but I didn't
Starting point is 00:32:32 see Tony Romo criticism. Where was the Tony Romo criticism that they were reacting to? Because they were very much reacting to some things being said in some circles in social media. He signed the 2020, what, it could be a five year deal. It could go as long as 10 at 17 million per annum, certain CBS is just saying to themselves, Hey, we're paying you $17 million per season to call a football game a week. Can you take it seriously? But there are with more information than we are, whether
Starting point is 00:33:04 it's coming from the staff, whether it's coming from Jim Nance, as to just how much work he's putting into this thing. I could tell you a someone who likes Tony Ramo that I haven't known as much of a difference. Like he gives me what I want. You know, I haven't. He'll occasionally tell me a play. He'll get excited at the right times. I mean, that's, I'm not Jim. Right. He does. He seems to know that's his signature thing now. So I think he's leaning on that a little bit more. But the first time that I had ever considered that the Tony Romo thing wasn't this spectacular success was when his friend Dick Ebersol came out with a criticism that immediately walked back and all this, all this stuff that's being reported. That's
Starting point is 00:33:42 where it started. Yeah. But all that stuff that's being reported right now seems very It's actually kind of dirty when you look at it because it seems like a lot of dirty laundry is being aired a lot of Inside people that know about Tony Romo's process are the ones doing the complaining and for me as someone that Experiences him occasionally on a standalone game. I haven't noticed. If I were Tony Roma, I'd be like, guys, you got me at a bargain. You see what Brady's making? You get what you get and you don't get upset. Like, this is what you're getting.
Starting point is 00:34:10 You want me to work harder? Pay me double, because that's what Brady's getting. And I don't work twice as hard. This is the new price. Until then, you're gonna get half the effort. It would be great if not being afraid of coaching or repercussions. Well, it's a couple of guys in suits coming to my house.
Starting point is 00:34:27 I got a deal. I got a deal for five minutes. I get care like, you know, the intervention, okay, I'm good. I get it. I got it right and then go hit the course. They have so much control of Tony Romo that they flew to him. Right. Yeah, we did.
Starting point is 00:34:40 We did send him the message working hard. We'll come to you. It's so true. What Billy is saying. It. These are no matter how powerful they are as TV executives, there are a couple of guys flying into Dallas to meet the former quarterback of the Cowboy. Yeah, come on in guys. You guys are paying me $17 million a year. Ernie made one 30. Come on in. I got to get to the golf course in 45 minutes. What do you need? We'd like you to work harder. Yeah, not so come on in. I got to get to the golf course in 45 minutes. What do you need? We'd like you to work harder.
Starting point is 00:35:06 Yeah, not so interested in that. I don't know, John. How about I just keep being Tony Romo? That should be enough, right? You're paying me $17 million because I'm Tony Romo, former Cowboys quarterback. What are you gonna do about it? I'll just hang out with you and I will slowly deteriorate on air, not carrying it all at 17 million a year because what do I have to care about this is side gig look how much you're paying me more than I ever made in my playing career I fractured my back I was the quarterback of the cowboys.
Starting point is 00:35:36 I think he's doing fine like I haven't listened and been like this guy's terrible they need to replace him is fine I think Dan. guys terrible. They need to replace him. He's fine. I think Dan, the CBS is reacting to the same pressures that you said Jimmy Kimmel made fun of for a while. There is in the sports media report, uh, sphere, a lot of criticism of Tony Romo, a lot of, you know, people like, you know, critics are saying it's not as good as it used to be. I honestly think it's reacting to the New York Post sports media column. I still think it's the same thing as 20 years ago. I still think that media networks are a bit sensitive to that. That's so dumb. And they're reacting to it.
Starting point is 00:36:12 But it's Greg Olson getting credit, right? That has to factor in. This reported. Paul and Tjentworth is getting a lot of credit is being graded this. That has to factor in, right? This reported intervention happened last summer before Greg Olson took over as the number one and got all this praise. So, okay.
Starting point is 00:36:28 I mean, I think, and also they could, as Mike said, have made an internal evaluation and gone, well, this isn't what it used to be. I don't know, but I do think that it's a lot of the similar. You sort of draft on buzz when it's good and they, it seemed to overly sink into the criticism as well. So higher Greg Olson and demote him to number two and pay him $17 million a year to be as your number two. They're not going to do it.
Starting point is 00:36:54 So what, what are they going to do about it? This goes actually against some reporting that I did on Tony Romo a few weeks back. I was actually told by somebody that when the dolphins and bills played during the playoff. Is this reckless speculation? Are you reporting this is legit? I mean, I don't know how reporting works, but I think, okay, well, let's see what kind of inside. Well, who told you? That's right. I shouldn't say. I think I've learned I shouldn't say that part. Okay. Well, that's the only part. Tell us who told you and then we'll say if it's reporting or if it's like if you talk to someone in the parking lot of Buffalo that was covered in ketchup and app reporting.
Starting point is 00:37:28 No, it's a legit source. I know how I think I know how sources. I don't think you do. And I write it down on a piece of paper and we'll pass it around it. No, Lily, please, Lily. I'm trying to help him. Since he doesn't know how this works, so I'm trying to help him.
Starting point is 00:37:42 You are, you are actively not trying. My barber thinks I'm a cop. You're trying to get him into trouble. He might be on the precipice of both breaking news and trying to be an insider, but we have to do this correctly. Chris Cody, do you get the reckless speculation? Sounder, are you reporting this as a credible news source? This is you being a reporter for the first time.
Starting point is 00:38:04 All right. But you reported this. I have never reported this before, but it applies to this conversation. Something that I just know. We will get to the news. Well, this is what, what's exciting? This is what's happening. Okay. Because Billy is number five insider international dukey bombs. He's getting a lot of credit as a, as a national football source. he's trying to undermine you here as you try to infringe on his space with insider information he's never broken a story around here. I mean that's not you might be number one as an insider internationally
Starting point is 00:38:36 according to the guardian if you had broken a football story but Chris Cody you're telling us you have a source and you believe this to be a credible source You should double source things in journalism, but that's true. What if your source is really good wait What do you want source? Who is it and then we can really broke the Trying to trick me Billy you broke the what's in Dable suitcase stories, so you got oh yeah, I forgot about that one Yeah, yeah, sometimes you just forget your accomplishments So you got all yeah, I forgot about that one. Yeah, yeah, sometimes you just forget your accomplishment. You know,
Starting point is 00:39:10 Jay Glazer double and triple checks his sources. You don't have a second source. You just have one you really believe it and You're reporting. I asked him twice though like Santa. So it's a good job. Okay, you should reveal Okay, you got to protect your source. You got to be willing to go to jail to protect us. Source. Don't go to jail already. That's why are you asking him to reveal his sources? I just say it. Yes. Okay. The dolphins in the bills when they played in the playoffs, that was the first time Roma and Nance had gotten the dolphins all year. And the dolphins had to like rap Roma up in the pre interviews because he was
Starting point is 00:39:41 just talking to them so much. So that goes against him being lazy. Like he was doing extra work and needed to be like, Hey, we got to get a lot of guys through here. We need to tighten these up a little bit. So I don't know that doesn't seem like a guy that's cutting corners. Because he knows he's got to stand alone game now. And he's got a good. It's because he hadn't covered the dolphins all year. So he was trying I need to I need to learn a lot about them. So that's just, that's just one fact that goes against him mailing in. Could also be just chatty though. That's true. Could just be somebody who likes talking to football.
Starting point is 00:40:13 We've seen him at Tahoe. He is not chatty at all. I mean, wow, you're reporting that? I'm reporting what I've seen. And what I've seen is him talking to nobody. He puts out, he puts out a pipe. Yeah. Really, you guys think that he's not this affable person? I've seen him when I've seen his in talk to nobody puts a he puts on a pipe. Yeah. Really? You guys think that he's not this affable person? There are more affable folks. Are you guys both, wait a minute.
Starting point is 00:40:32 A third report. I got to be honest. He's a really, you saw a friendly we were with Justin Timberlake. Well, really, really the report, the truth being told the Chris Cody report, very disappointing. I like better. I just got something. The Stu Stu got said Mike Ryan report of Tony
Starting point is 00:40:48 Romo is kind of uh, standoffish. He just, it, there are people that like to socialize and he's got a vibe. He's very, they're putting it nicely. Dick Aber saw. Are you willing to report that, uh, that Tony Romo is an asshole? Are you? Very, very seriously. I don't know Tony Tony Romo is an asshole? Are you willing to go? No, no, no, no. He takes it very, very seriously. I don't know Tony well enough to call him an asshole.
Starting point is 00:41:09 No, no, no. We guys, we're going to talk. Oh, too. No one said that. They ain't stop putting people in that spot. No, it's just, it's very, very, very, very, very, it's more like a late himself. Yeah, he isolates himself.
Starting point is 00:41:20 It's kind of like a game face. Yeah, he's got his game face on. He takes it, he's more intense about it. It's more of a business trip for him when he's not one of the guys. You know, one of the five guys who knows he has a chance to win that thing every single year, and he takes it very, very seriously. Right, but the other more guys. I mean, more molders the same way.
Starting point is 00:41:38 Well, there's also levels to the celebrity there. Like the Steph Curry's, the Ray Romano, like these people get like bombarded by people. Like where there's like the guy from the office, some people are just happy to talk to you. Whereas some guys like are a-listers. But, but Steph and my homes and Kelsey, like they're in Justin Timberlake, they're super affable. They know they're very happy to take part in it.
Starting point is 00:41:59 And you know, the Stu Gotts and myself, like we belong. Like we're there and we're rubbing shoulders and stuff and Tony Roman just does his own thing.
