The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz - The Big Suey: Listen Pal

Episode Date: May 25, 2023

We drag Witty for becoming 'The Apple Villain' and losing all joy around the Florida Panthers before Ron Magill joins the show to discuss his international incident and teach Witty how to issue a prop...er apology. Then, Amin infuriated the very nice Will Manso with his takes on Erik Spoelstra yesterday, so Will infiltrates the zoom to discuss while the Shipping Container becomes increasingly unhinged about the Panthers. Plus, a truly heated sports debate breaks out between Mike Ryan and Amin over the greatness of Carmelo Anthony. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Giraffe King's Network. Welcome to the big, sweet, presented by Giraffe King. Why are you listening to this show? The podcast that seems very similar to the other Dan Levitard podcast. I'm sorry, I'm not going to apologize for that. In fact, the only difference seems to be this imaging. I have been tempted in restaurants just walking past tables to grab somebody's fries that if they're just there.
Starting point is 00:00:34 That hasn't happened to you guys. I've done it. And now, here's the marching man to nowhere, that face and the habitual liar. We won't be in the playoffs. For the of anti-stats, Matthew Kachag. But what happened was they hired the murder of fun and the murder of fun is palm trees. That's what happened. He's the murder of fun. We were the most fun team last year.
Starting point is 00:00:57 The coach came in and it's like, the style is going to change. We're going to play playoff hockey in the regular season. Listen, pal, if you're six points, you're six points out of the final playoffs, but you're not playing playoff hockey in the regular season. Listen pal, if you're six points, you're six points out of the final playoff spot, you're not playing playoff hockey in the playoffs. I'm gonna play a more playoff style type of hockey. What a playoff. That's what he said. A playoff sense.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Playoff style. Are you gonna play off style from home? I'm still offended at the opening night broadcast from the Florida Panthers. When they came out and said, here's we gotta sell what we did in this off season to the fans. And so what we're gonna do is we're gonna tell everyone,
Starting point is 00:01:30 we're gonna play playoff style hockey in the regular season to get you ready. And then to go right back to being outside of the final, I'm offended, I'm still offended. It's so arrogant. There's so much hubris in. You guys were playing that little tippy, tappy fun stuff in the Regussi That stuff doesn't work in the play we're gonna play we're gonna play man hockey now
Starting point is 00:01:56 We broke the team up you and who know you just won't get over this day one Matter it doesn't matter so eros has as many goals as John of Inhuberdow it doesn't matter. It's all aerosol has as many goals as John of the Hubert. Oh, it doesn't matter It doesn't matter like Matthew could talk. Got a bunch of empty stats. You're out of the playoffs He's Stats yeah, they're empty if you don't win. No, they don't win games Path or suck huh? Yeah, why are they so bad this year? One the Biden cup last year now what you guys are yelling at each other about one the trade and I do believe the macro is Holy they had the most fun team in hockey. They they tore apart a team that was amazing after that unprecedented success
Starting point is 00:02:38 We're done with it motor a fun word suit every night. Yeah, well, they wouldn't be trusted either because I think the problem still is, do we have faith in our netminder, Sergey Babrovsky? They're still gonna miss the playoffs. They're not fun to watch. They don't have any discernible style. They play like all the other hockey teams, and in the middle of it, there's a very standout individual who is getting his stats, but it's very clearly not helping the team win
Starting point is 00:03:00 with those stats. Give me a few years in a row in the postseason, and instead they just blew it up. The bigger conversation to have here is, do we owe Maurice an apology? Not yet, because it seems like they're coming into form. A lot of criticism. These group chats were filled with fire in the coach.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Really? One of the most annoying things about Mike Ryan, right, is right there. Do we owe him an apology? He is going to be stubborn about giving that apology. I would place a lot of that blame on installing this new system. But if it pans out into a deep run in the playoffs, we all have to take the L. Alright, easy with it. I'm getting out. We all need that. We all need that. We all need that. Here's why here's why painting out is is a bit of a stretch because if they get into the playoffs,
Starting point is 00:03:42 what in all likelihood is going to be waiting for them is the top seed boss and Bruins who are practically done. Best team ever. I'd have no feeling towards this team. None. They ripped the soul out of it. This has been every hockey season. We check in at about now. Which is it to it to say exactly.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Exactly. In conversation. Ridiculous that they broke the team. Yeah. You know what would have been okay with me being the most fun team for maybe several seasons in a row Get into the playoffs God forbid back-to-back seasons and Maybe maybe when a couple playoff series instead of setting fire to it and try to do something completely the opposite and out They're gonna miss the playoffs
Starting point is 00:04:22 It's the most arrogant winning him has ever sounded you know That is an achievement you know like I mean listen pal and that's like his version of hey mother effort And after that though we're gonna play man hockey now in the most sarcastic way possible listen pal Listen pal Listen pal. Listen pal. Listen pal. It's unbelievable. Listen pal. And just listen pal.
Starting point is 00:04:52 And you listen and everything was wrong. Listen pal. Every last thing was the most maximum opposite wrong. Listen pal. On all the principles. Palmeries, Matthew Kitchoff, like every'm opposite wrong. Listen pal, on all the principles, Paul Maries, Matthew Kitchoff, like every single thing wrong. He refuses to capitulate.
Starting point is 00:05:10 It's not a bit dude, like he is actively rooting against the Florida Panthers because I swear to you. Where is he right now? Back me up, like Chris is in the group chat with me. Is this disgusting? No. He tries to jinx the Panthers,
Starting point is 00:05:23 send me a face I'm gonna make, he was like ghosting and then she just texted bleep you with like. No, he's got a he's got to work for us some last few minutes from a bad top and he's got to eat some of this stuff. Come on. I don't care. Everyone's saying you should see how happy winning him look. He's going. He's singing up the steps at Metal Lark in New York. They're saying he looks thin and healthy, getting away from Stugats has done so much for him. You know how in wrestling, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:51 person's a bad guy when they start wearing suits and just darker colors, and they change their appearance? Whitty has changed. The Apple thing, he's become an Apple villain. He's just a different dude now. Wearing two watches, he's corporate-winning now. Big time Apple guy, sober fresh now that he's gotten out from under the metal arcs. I know, Whitty, to have been a massive Florida Panthers fan.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Imagine the existence for him right now, where he's just so entrenched in a take that it's ruining the greatest run of our lives for the Panthers. Like, I hated the Deshaun Watson thing. I stopped being a Browns fan, and like I'm cool with them losing, but I'm not actively hating on the Browns.
Starting point is 00:06:38 I'm just like, okay, that's not my team anymore. He is actively hating the forebanks. So here's the thing, like, because Woody, if I'm, this witty if I miss uh... great if I'm wrong he'll ask you to thank you he fell in love with the team last year and who burdo in particular so the trade of who we're exciting to watch all season like that score seven goals again they go down three nothing and it didn't matter like they did that all last season they were they were the best I mean, you come from the Phoenix Suns.
Starting point is 00:07:07 They were the best regular season offensive hockey team. The sport has ever seen. The sport that includes Gratsky, everybody else, ever. And they blew it up because that don't work in the playoffs. But that's the irony. It's like that incarnation is what won his fandom and blowing it up is what blew up his fandom. And so of course he feels entrenched in, hey, you guys took away my joy.
Starting point is 00:07:32 But they changed, they changed a first time head coach. That was interim because of the Kwenville stuff. And Brunette showed you in the playoffs. He wasn't necessarily ready for prime time. And they traded, a beloved player in Jonathan Huberto and an analytic superstar and McKenzie Weger, and they brought in Matthew Kuchuk, an American superstar from Calgary.
Starting point is 00:07:53 That's not blowing up the team. It's not. He's just pissed because he bought a Jonathan Huberto jersey. He got traded right now. That's what I'm saying. It's blowing up the team in terms of blowing up what he fell in love with, right? It's not, that's a... It's just ent fell in love with, right? It's not necessarily.
Starting point is 00:08:05 It's just entrenched on this take, dude. It's nothing deeper than that. He was like, at the beginning of his straight, he was pro-hobberdough. Everyone was kind of like, oh, that guy's Kuchuk's young. Everyone was kind of pro the trade, and he was like, no, I'm gonna take the other side. And he's just staying there and he won't admit,
Starting point is 00:08:19 hey, I was wrong about that. When he does the empty stats thing, I'm just like, you got nothing. You have nothing, clearly, they couldn't be less empty stats This show They put Chuck scored the goal to send them to the standoff I know three seconds like no it's an insanity you know this is the time to say I'm sorry I was wrong you don't after multiple walkoffs and again games where Gretsky's going that's the best thing
Starting point is 00:08:41 You know, I'm amazed that bar Markov even tried that in that situation and Hockey is Genuflecting in front of this story. They know how hard this shit is. That sports brutal man brutal Mike might just skip past the Quenville stuff that team from last year had an enormous scandal at the time like them the most scandalous thing almost in the history of Executives in South Florida not just sports all of them a great coach at the history of executives in South Florida. Not to sports all of them. A great coach at the top of an exciting team. He got gone in shame and stigma because hockey's got a terrible, terrible problem of abusing young boys sexually and that's where they were. Like that's what was in the middle of last season.
Starting point is 00:09:24 And they're all sorts of real life shit these days that getting the way of the contaminants like the contaminants that come in in fact Are you am I allowed to enjoy something am I allowed to enjoy yes? Yes, are you watching hockey? Yes, I am are you falling in love with this team? I am not what what are you dead inside? I this is company this What what are you dead inside? I This is company this This is a terrible joke just get out of here get out of here the entire This is what he's doing today though this look he does not understand
Starting point is 00:10:00 He does not understand the amount of passions that you guys have for these things He just wants to do show he doesn't want to talk panther talky and mike this place i've got aside with him it's not just samson like ron McGill's a long time friend of the show and just wants to come on and like apologize publicly because of something that happened at a zoo that it's an international insult and you won't even allow him on the show we got too many guests we're trying to get every Florida Panther, including actual Panthers. We're trying to find one of the 200 living in the state of Florida. I go, no, let me, I never had the opportunity.
Starting point is 00:10:32 As long as I've been doing this, and I've been doing this a long time at a very high level to celebrate my team making it to the Stanley Cup finals. You and the audience are gonna have to deal with this back room feeling itself. Yeah, it's shame on you for not following love with this team. You see who stopped forcing battling out there. I have told you. Do you see him battling?
Starting point is 00:10:54 I have told you that and this has happened to put my feet up to. Well, it's happening in our studio though. You have seen and around our studio. Lewis, is it- Are you wearing pants? Maybe. Well, no, Chris is Chris. This is serving. Chris, no, yes, Chris have been doing this show without pants.
Starting point is 00:11:09 No, I just see your day. He's been not what he Chris has. I'm going with it. Chris, what? He finally broke Roy. With it. Fine. With Chris Cody, we are telling the audience. We're being honest with the audience. Chris Cody has grown increasingly more unreasonable and more fanatical because he's been as right as winning him has been wrong and he took off his pants somewhere and sang with
Starting point is 00:11:34 none of us noticed. I definitely grown. It's freckled and you I thought he had done that but I wasn't totally sure and Roy looked and he says you know know what, I'm fine with nudity in the workplace, I'm fine with his fandom, I'm fine with everything that's happening. Let's celebrate in today, Dan. Get naked. We're going to Vegas. We're going to Vegas!
Starting point is 00:11:53 We're going to Vegas! We beat the Boston Bruins! That's what started. We're getting to the playoffs is where it started because that was hard. Yeah. We needed the black hawks to beat the penguins. Oh, my God. Yes, that, and it was that run that made you want.
Starting point is 00:12:11 What is a meme doing? You all benched for Blastky. That look, oh, he's writing. Oh, writing stuff. Okay, now he's the band. Blastky, oh. That looked bad. Wow.
Starting point is 00:12:21 What is great about you three enjoying the hell out of this with Chris Cody not wearing pants is that you all Bench Brabobrovsky for the last seven games all of you the only reason you're in the playoffs is because you bench Bobrovsky I'm not so sure I doubt it on let's listen back Everyone did oh My god what is it with this what what are you kidding here are you kidding me are you kidding me I can't enjoy this long come on we don't have time to talk talk about Kiwi's got to have time for this get out of my life no we're out of time no no go go go you got a minute I apologize for the Kiwi talk about the fruit
Starting point is 00:13:03 rama get what happened you got in trouble and i year in the middle of an international incident and uh... how did he get in here how is it why don't i have credentials to this news studio zoom how are ronnie gill and david samson just mcgill is in the middle of international controversy you're wearing it on your face ronnie okay we care about you we love you but we don't have time for any just, McGill is in the middle of international controversy. You're wearing it on your face. Ron, are you okay? We care about you.
Starting point is 00:13:26 We love you, but we don't have time for any of this. The next couple of days. What's happening with your international crisis? You know, we made a mistake, Dan. We handled the Kiwi, which is the national symbol of New Zealand. It's what the New Zealanders call themselves Kiwis. In a matter that in hindsight was not right.
Starting point is 00:13:46 We exposed it, a nocturnal animal to bright light, we let people pet it for an encounter, and you know what, it was just not properly done. And we were wrong, and I apologize for it on behalf of the zoo because we were wrong. And I'm not gonna deflect it, I'm not gonna make any excuses, we were wrong, we've gotta do better, we will do better,
Starting point is 00:14:04 we immediately stopped being counter. You know, I hate people who go on deflecting or passing the buck or making excuses. There was no excuse, there is no excuse. I'm not deflecting anything, we accept it, we were wrong, we are profoundly heartfelt, sorry, we're gonna make it right. And I appreciate the people of New Zealand,
Starting point is 00:14:23 who initially, I mean, they were hammering us with words and profanities I'd never even heard before. But once I got on their national television shows, you know, we need to take notice. This is how you apologize. This is how you apologize. This is how a man apologizes. This is how you do it right here. When you step in it, just come out here, look. Exactly. No excuses. We stepped in it. We screwed up.
Starting point is 00:14:49 We did wrong. We've got to do better. And I got to give credit to the people in New Zealand, because once I got on their airways and on their radio and I said to them, listen, let me have it. We deserve it. Okay. Man, you should see how these people are writing back and saying, you know what? We could teach our politicians how to address our-
Starting point is 00:15:04 That's why me and Corbin wanted you to run for office. Get out of here. see how these people are writing back and saying, you know what? We could teach our politicians how to address. That's why me and Corbin wanted you to run for office. Get out of here. You've ruined the fun of the show. Are you guys happy with, are you happy? No, I'm not happy. Are you happy, man? We need a lesson.
Starting point is 00:15:14 How about those badgers? There you go. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. How about those badgers? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:22 That's what I'm doing. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ escucha necesito ayuda estoy en Barcelona y las criaturas están por todas partes a raíz, escuchéis lo que escuchéis tapados los ojos la calle llevamos todos a cieras pero lo más aterradores no saber en que confiar huide las personas que os piden que mireis si queréis seguir convido Birdbox, Barcelona, is a train in Netflix, the 14th of July. You dare to know. Down Lebatard! Take a mental picture.
Starting point is 00:16:11 Okay. I take a mental picture by blinking. Yeah, that blinked. I just did that. Okay, great. Stugats! So you've taken a mental picture. Now, you should make a noise too. Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch.
Starting point is 00:16:20 Did you get it? Yeah. This is the Down Lebatar Show with this two gods. I said something the other day, Billy Gill did not agree because he's disagreeable. That I believe that this heat team can possibly produce a better feeling in its fan base because it's an underdog, it's a surprise. You get to enjoy Jesus. So Jimmy Butler's really gonna be more Kobe or Michael than some of these people.
Starting point is 00:16:48 You get to like the intangibles of culture and all that shit. It has a chance as a surprise to feel better than any of the heat as ever one. More than Wade, more than any of it because it's so unexpected. It just feels, it's the surprise is the greatest thing in sports.
Starting point is 00:17:03 But what we miss is yelling at everybody and everybody in the media caring about the Miami Heat, the way they did with LeBron and ripping them and then an entire fan base could go attack Colin Coward or skip Bayless or Rick Buker, Rick Buker, the never aging Rick Buker. He's still on television, still looks great.
Starting point is 00:17:21 Would say every wrong thing in the media. It's impressive with that complex. Chris Brusard getting to chase Chris Brusard down. We missed that feeling. We have not had that spirit here since 2014. And a meme said something yesterday and the fan base of the Miami heat. And I are. It's not bizarre.
Starting point is 00:17:41 It's not bizarre. You use the word panic and Eric's bolstering in the same sentence. You said that Tatum is more talented than Jimmy Butler. And you wouldn't rage somehow. The world's nicest and most decent broadcaster man, Will Manso. Will Manso. Everyone loves Will Manso. No one has an unkind word to say about Will Manso. And you brought him out and now he was writing. You don't have a Tatum, but you do have a Jimmy Butler. What are we doing around here today?
Starting point is 00:18:13 He hits you with an LOL. They're up 3-1, have proven their role players are as good. They're Hall of Fame coach over a rookie coach and each team has two all stars. Margin for Air is the same. If they f around they find out. And a means response was a very unreasonable congrats on completely missing my point.
Starting point is 00:18:38 I mean, he did completely miss my point, but the congrats was probably a little too much. Okay, so I will man. Let's all do it everybody else in Miami for some reason. Like, oh, you guys under the impression that somehow you're the favorites. Like, I'm not saying you're not supposed to win and not going to win the championship. How does anyone beef with Wilman so I don't know. Well, well, no, Wilman so came at you again. When you hit him with congrats on completely,
Starting point is 00:18:58 you see my point, which is incendiary. Like you have now enraged Wilman, so he says, not sure what your point was If it wasn't that they don't have a Tatum or a Marge of Ferrer as the tweet Nautilus says my point was that they have a Tatum Inbutler and the Celtics have shown this series. They don't have much Marge of Ferrer either Two very even teams a reasonable Wilman so totally unhinged on Twitter because I mean said the goddamn thing I mean the guy who said the thing We need a guy who said a thing we missing 2014. I didn't there were always there was always someone saying a thing You said a thing you said a thing. I I didn't say a thing
Starting point is 00:19:36 I don't understand where this will man so get off man All I know about will man so is that he's the reason Chris Cody got gotten trouble with with my man from the AP Tim Reynolds. Oh yeah that's right. That's all that's my entire history with Wilmanso. It's not in that. Chris Cody. Oh my god what is what the security? Why? How is Wilman so here? Trying to get on. It all morning but trying to get all listening to you guys. I mean this I mean that and what is this guy? I was on a this is the? I was on a spirit flight on two hours sleep listening to that sound. They will set that scope. You off the flight. I was so angry on that flight.
Starting point is 00:20:13 Listening to that clip of a mean. It's like, yes, Wilman. So is a culture. Local news. I want to use me. I don't understand how I'm so Wilman. So it's not a metal arc employee. He is not Samson. He's not a friend McGill. I don't understand how Wilman. Somanso is not a metal arc employee. He is not Samson. He's not a friend McGill I don't understand how Wilmanso has access to just being in here and talking to a mean this way But I'm happy to see you will art Chris just help me for people who don't know him nationally Everyone likes Wilmanso that was gonna be Sanano except they stretched him out now. He runs all he shit and
Starting point is 00:20:42 He's over there doing a broadcast that everyone loves. I I couldn't if I could be somebody if you said to me right now who in this around these these parts could could you just be them. I want to be well man. So decent person knows all the local sports teams overreacting. I want to know I want you to what what what did. Okay. I mean here's my thing now that it's not a tweet. You said you said that Tatum, the heat don't have a Tatum. The Tatum's ability to take over a game. They don't have that. You said spoke panic because he sent a double and a guy. I mean, that's not a panic. That's just a basketball coach.
Starting point is 00:21:16 You move. And then you said they had no margin for error. A team that is down three, one. How can a team that is one loss away from being eliminated, not have margin for error? A team that's lost three in a row and got embarrassed in game three. They have margin for error when they don't shoot well, they lose. It's that simple. So that just I didn't understand the tweet or the video. I don't know what you're trying to say. What I'm trying to say first of all, let's start with the Tatum part. I don't think there's anybody in the basketball universe who would say Jimmy Butler's more talented than Jason Tatum
Starting point is 00:21:46 Like I'm a better basketball player talent That's not what you think about over Tatum. That's not what you have lower Tade. I said talent He's as a talent. He's not on the same Michael. Easy was his talent that is everybody But Michael Beasley's it wasn't gonna know he's gonna take Michael Beasley Jason Jason Tatum is bigger. He's more athletic. He's quicker. He's got better boy handling. He's a better shooter. Is he a better basketball player?
Starting point is 00:22:09 Is he a better basketball player than Jimmy Butler? I know, I'd rather have Jimmy Butler. I'd rather have Jimmy Butler, but I cannot deny that Jimmy Butler is someone who is maximizing every last bit of his talent, whereas Jason Tatum is probably scratching the surface. Like that's been doing that since he was in college. I mean that doesn't apply to an Easter coverage five.
Starting point is 00:22:29 All I'm saying is, this is a part I don't like that. Chris Cody is already saying enough of this. They're taking selfies in the back, making panther claws. Panther claws with that hands. They're not listening to you guys. They're doing their own show on social media. As you guys argue whether Tatum their own show on social media as you guys argue whether Tatum is more talented than Jimmy Butler.
Starting point is 00:22:48 These pictures look terrible by the way. No, there's the thing. Here's the thing that what I was saying was actually a compliment of the Miami that's the part that's blowing my mind is that everyone's losing their mind. I'm complimenting the heat because I'm saying they don't get the luxury of being able to do things wrong all the time and just clean it up at the end, blast your talent. They don't have that. I love how I'm not a sick. Wow, man. So are you getting wrapped up?
Starting point is 00:23:31 Wow, wow. Panther stuff. Are you getting pulled into that when you're not arguing with a mean about whether Tatum or Butler are better? I'm enjoying it because the heat, I'll go figure 25 years covering this town and the Panthers finally make a run, and I'm covering the heat, of course. So 25 years covering this town and the panthers finally make a run and I'm covering the heat of course. So I haven't been able to enjoy it. I've
Starting point is 00:23:48 been watching from afar. It's been fun. Last time I was running through the streets out in front of the TD guard and jumping up and down in Kachutskord. That was fun. I want this to happen. What happened to journalism? Yeah. What happened to journalism is an excellent question. Put it on the whole page. That's a long time ago. Dan, you're wearing a white shirt today, though. white hot. But what is happening around here is also typically Miami, I would say. There is a Broward County line between these teams and there are two South Florida's in this respect.
Starting point is 00:24:14 These fan bases are a little bit different. The Miami one is more diverse and Cubans all over Miami right now are wandering over the blue line and asking, what's going on over here with this hockey team? I don't know that much about hockey. Oh, this seems interesting and fun. Like this is happening. I know these are the moments you're gonna remember forever and and I mean what's that you ruin those words all the small things now? No, I sit on that we invented that by the way I'm seeing all the small things and then took fate in the music down and singing it as one in unison That is a hockey tradition. We started that is ours now Chris is about to take a look at how many
Starting point is 00:25:07 pants I'm so happy right now is new like no I don't have it I don't know that's a whole of the story war sucks I know man so you got shorts on no no Chris Cody is hanging out Chris Cody is now so excited as a Panther fan that he has thrown his shorts at the back of the head. He's pan-bex. Wow. His girdle. Oh my God, baby.
Starting point is 00:25:35 Oh my God. Oh my God. We need to make it. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god.
Starting point is 00:25:49 Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god.
Starting point is 00:25:57 Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my it is. How hot dog dance back there.
Starting point is 00:26:05 How hard it is to have beef with Wilmanso. You and how hard can you even imagine Wilmanso wanting to parachute off of an airplane because he's being made so insane by this stupidity coming out of a mean to be fair with a spirit flash. Anyone who has trouble as beef with Wilmanso, I will hit you the way Betty hit that dude last night and knock them out.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Oh, poor thing. Oh, please. Oh, please. Before he hit the board. Clean. Clean. Teason piece though. Clean.
Starting point is 00:26:33 That looked like it hurt. Yes. But Burns, you bastard. Oh, man. You've mentioned this. Wilmanso, which honestly, because you're a heat person, Mike Ryan has already said in his fandom. He's like, this is too much sports at one time i need one of these teams
Starting point is 00:26:48 to lose and secretly he wanted to be the heat because he uh... loves the panthers and this is new all of this with the panthers is new locally there's a whole generation that missed this while dwayne wade was doing all the winning uh... you care enough to say that your allegiances are split, or you bought and paid for by the Miami Heat?
Starting point is 00:27:08 No, no, I'm bought and paid for by the Miami Heat. No, no, okay. I know I'm, I want the both to win. See, in my work, it's different. Local sports, if you don't have content like every day, they brush you aside. So I want content. Are you kidding me?
Starting point is 00:27:22 I don't want my sum of your start yet. I want to have fun. This is like unprecedented. So I want them both to keep going and go as far as they can. Well, I need more from you though, because I don't feel like I've gotten proper hostility. Like what enraged you the most? The panic, the verb, spoke panic. I mean, guys, I have a, on social media, I have a very simple thing. If you say fire, spoke, or make spoke sound, that'd be some crappy coach, I immediately mute or block you. That's like, well, that and mentioning my family are the only two things. So the fact that he sits there and says panic, he said a double that one
Starting point is 00:27:55 of the great players in the NBA panic. I mean, come on. It was a panic. What is what I said? I said he panicked in that moment. It's a panic move and Dan was like, so you're saying, spoke panic, put it on the pole, Juju I mean said is spoke panic and you did say I said he panic in that moment That was a panic move because if you go through the play by play of how they got to where they were He wasn't killing them because they couldn't guard them. It was transition. It was a bad pick and roll coverage It was still kind of basic. You could have still stayed Bad picking roll coverage. It was still kind of basic. You could have still stayed
Starting point is 00:28:27 Like true instead they made it Don't lebatard and get some golf ASMR. Stoogats. Oh, f*** me. This is the Don Lebatard show with the Stoogats. This slip shot operation is creaking wheels that are on fire, are headed into the stands. I mean, keeps flying in and out of town. I keep telling him and Skipper and Stu Gott, you're not 20 anymore.
Starting point is 00:29:08 Flying in an airplane in your condition, working this hard is gonna bust up your body. Here's a mean, he's gotta stand up this entire segment now, because his back isn't working, right? Even though Metal Arc is getting masseuses every time that a mean requests once. So I'm carrying this goddamn company on my back
Starting point is 00:29:26 That's what is for them. Well, yeah, carrying it with a spow is panicked when they fall down three one You're our alleged basketball expert. I actually have a lot of things that I want to talk to you about really? Yes, that surprises me because every time I try to talk you cut me off I have a Desired to hear your basketball analysis when Mike Ryan says that Camelo Anthony is Lamarcus. All-Dridge, he's not an all-time score. Camelo Anthony is overrated because he's been a New York fixture
Starting point is 00:29:58 and that everything that's said about Camelo Anthony is too positive. Mike Ryan is here to tell you, he's not nearly as excellent. As you'd think, put his jersey in the rafters, he's a here to tell you he's not nearly as excellent. As you'd think, put his jersey in the rafters, he's a hall of fame or he's the best. He's saying he's an inefficient score back before we knew to tabulate inefficiencies. You're out of your mind. Your assessment of Carmelo Anthony is so wildly inaccurate that I don't even know where
Starting point is 00:30:22 to begin to be honest with you. Let's begin with the sats. Let's begin with the sets. Let's begin with every time you shot a ball it went in 44% of the time. Okay. Let's talk about how we did a retirement. Oh, no. Two years after we all thought he was retired and we're treating him like he's one of the games' greats.
Starting point is 00:30:40 Yeah, he's a top 10 score. You know why? Because he was a black hole of offense that didn't make anybody better. In fact, he jettisoned those that could have improved him. And the weird thing about Carmelo Anthony is mean that when he showed later in his career and on the international stage when he was willing to accept the role, he excelled at it. The biggest enemy of Carmelo Anthony's career was Carmelo Anthony because he wanted to be that alpha.
Starting point is 00:31:04 Yeah, could he make a contested jumper? Was he difficult to guard? Absolutely. Was he a non-factor defensively? Didn't care that much. Did he do any winning? No. None.
Starting point is 00:31:15 What's so ever in the pro ranks? So when people talk to me about Carmelo Anthony being this all-time great, just pointing to how many points he scored, I am telling you flatly, good player, Hall of Famer. He's like, what, a 10 time all star? Deserve it, even though that's largely fan voting. But he is in the tier of Lamarcus Aldridge, Paul George. Lamarcus Aldridge, Joe Johnson. Joe Johnson's not a Hall of Famer.
Starting point is 00:31:38 Lamarcus Aldridge is not a Hall of Famer. He's a seven time all star. Awful. No, wait a second. Wait a second. I'm not, and I am not at all a Lamarcus Aldridge fan, but you cannot tell me Lamarcus Aldridge's peak wasn't comparable to Carmelo. It's not, it's not, it's not comparable for, for multiple reasons.
Starting point is 00:32:00 Look at numbers. Okay, so numbers is not one. Okay, okay, 44% right? You like 44%? You know who else shop 44% for the field Kobe right Another overrated player that was a volume score But at least Kobe did winning and Kobe was a defensive force and Kobe Layton games could take it over in meaningful games Carmelo Anthony didn't play meaningful game We went to the conference finals. What are you talking about? He went to the conference finals once when he had a good supporting cast around him,
Starting point is 00:32:27 a supporting cast that by the way, he would have had in New York if he didn't try to maximize every single dollar and force a trade and hijack his team. It is. That's not his fault, man. Carmelo is a great player. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, yes okay then then carmelos right there with the okay so these are the cops it's not the bra it's not kobi who it is not way it is not crisp all it's none of his friends
Starting point is 00:33:12 so carmelos and then he's biggest sin is that he's friends with the greatest player of all time and they came in the same draft that that's his biggest no carmelos is not he's a big point that he's not saying he's not LeBron James no oh shit let's just stop the show oh Mike Ryan basketball expert you've cracked the code look our melody not LeBron James put it on the bowl juju put it hey no video guys video guys change up the lower third
Starting point is 00:33:41 make it say come on Anthony equal equal sign, slash through it. LeBron James, congratulations. Change what I'm saying. I'm also saying he's not Paul George. You're crazy. He's not, Kauai, he is not in that tier. Let me tell you, let me tell you. Why am I crazy?
Starting point is 00:33:55 I'm looking at numbers. Talk to me about true shooting. Talk to me about pur. Talk to me about win shares. Talk to me about achievements in the pro-rank. We're not talking about change. You're just gonna tell me you can get a bucket. What, you haven't made a point yet.
Starting point is 00:34:07 I have made a point. What, that he's not LeBron? That's not even towards you. That's your point, you dumbass. Give me, give me the numbers. It's not about the numbers. Oh, it's not. First of all, how convenient.
Starting point is 00:34:18 Do you want me to pull it? Give me something. So, give me something. Carmelo Anthony. He's not Chonsey Bill upset his point. Carmelo Anthony. He's not Chancé Billup said his car. Carmelo and first of all, first of all, Carmelo Anthony came in his league, took a Denver team that was awful to the playoffs in his first season.
Starting point is 00:34:35 He's Rashid Wallace tier. We're going back. He's Rashid Wallace tier. That's a bad name to bring up because Rashid Wallace, if real Hooper's know to quote Tony, I know real Hooper's. Yeah, which is why I'm giving him tier two. So I get you to hit you with Choncy billups. But then here's the problem. But wait, let me just hit you with Choncy billups because
Starting point is 00:34:54 this is his tier and that's fine. Choncy billups was wandering the desert like Moses for 40 days and 40 nights and 40 seasons before he found himself in Detroit. Carmelo was instantly impactful in winning. We had the same conversation that four freaking years ago. When I told you guys, Jimmy Butler's a winner and I was like, what is he? No, you're right. Winning is hard. Winning is low. It's a loser.
Starting point is 00:35:18 Dude, the dude took a team that won 15 games with some shit. The season before he got there to the playoffs as a rookie There were a lot of people who say he should have been rookie of the year over Lebron I wasn't one of them, but I understood the the argument he Number one number two great to start number two great to number two Offensively there hasn't been many I'm gonna say any but there haven't been many people who have this diverse a diet. If basketball offense was a restaurant, right? Shack would be someone where they serve you one meal,
Starting point is 00:35:54 one dish, and that's it, but it's a hell of a dish. It's a hell of a dish. And this dish shot 44%. Marmelo and this dish would take shots and the defense loved him taking. Marmelo and then he could score in any manner. Yeah, he could get hot. He could get hot. No, no, no, you're not listening. I know he could score in any man but he would also score at the tune of 44%. So did Kobe Bryant again, inefficient scores, but I look at Kobe's true shooting percentage. Look at Kobe's defensive metrics. Look at Kobe's winning.
Starting point is 00:36:25 I'm not here to defend Carmelo's defense. I know he was an underachieving defensive player. I'm not like you win that one. I think he's largely an underachieving player. You won two points. Period. He won two points. He's not LeBron James, and he was bad defensively.
Starting point is 00:36:36 Congratulations. You really kind of knocked me out the park. You haven't given me a point. You told me that he could score any variety. Yes. And how can you, he could score to the tune of 44%. It's not about to the tune of 44%. It's about literally there aren't, but a handful of players in NBA history that you could say, hey, give me a bucket. We're back to the basket. Give me a bucket facing up. Give me a bucket off the dribble. Give me a
Starting point is 00:36:56 bucket spot up. Give me a bucket cut and give me a button off of off the offensive. Yeah, like Jimmy Butler. He's in the Jimmy Butler tier and if Jimmy Butler pulls this off He's no longer that Jimmy Butler Ass Carmelo and so crazy events I was first on Jimmy Butler Island I need to do you assholes He's like I know My biggest problem with Carmelo and damn is how people bow at the altar of Carmelo. Because he's a great player.
Starting point is 00:37:28 Yes, you know, but he's, people don't bow at the altar of Paul George. And I'm saying they're the same guy. Why? They're the same. In fact, they're not the same guy because Paul George was a much better defender. Yes. Tell me I'm wrong. Tell me I'm wrong that you wouldn't take Carmelo you would take Carmelo Anthony it is peak over Paul George. Yes, you're insane. Yes,
Starting point is 00:37:51 you're I would I would and I tell you why because I can build a guy. Pacer Paul George. What? Hey, Pacer Paul George. Yes, yes. Pacer Paul George that scared the shit out of the big three heat. Yes, the big three heat that ran through Carmelo in five games It was a worst team It's a bad team because Carmelo is alpha. It's a bad team because the nicks were horribly managed The promise the promise that Carmelo had his rookie season and early on you was unimaginable There was no ceiling and then the dude could not get out of his way. You are He couldn't get out of his way and he welcomed it. He welcomed the New York bright lights
Starting point is 00:38:30 He wanted to be that guy and congratulations to a degree You got everyone clapping and thinking you're a lot better than you actually are because you did it in New York So but what you did in New York was jack shit my friend. Oh, you didn't know Was he just like some unknown player he was a horror no one knew anything about him but then he got to New York ladies and gentlemen and that's when he became famous
Starting point is 00:38:51 that's when I was sideways according to Mike that's when I was sideways Mike he was touted from the beginning from the get go from the tip the top of the
Starting point is 00:39:01 okay he was a serious okay he was a disappointment I disappointed what was a disappointment. I was disappointed. I disappointed. Yes. What are you talking about? I'm talking about one conference final.
Starting point is 00:39:09 He's the most decorated player in the history of USA basketball. And I always bring that point up, but no one cares. Every time I bring that point up, no one cares. No, no, no, I care about the international ball. I watch Fiba. I watch regional qualifying. I am always there saying, hey, I would love it. You know what I said? I want Carmelo on the heat because on this team, he'd be willing to accept the role. That's what I said 10 years ago.
Starting point is 00:39:33 So, it sounds like you're saying Carmelo Anthony is at fault for playing for teams that were poorly managed and poorly coached. That's what it sounds like you're saying. No, I'm saying Carmelo Anthony is at fault because he wouldn't accept roles. What? Where? Where? Later in his career, the guy found himself out of the league. You're talking about the end of his career. Yeah. What about the goddamn price? I can do you not remember when he got sent to Oklahoma City and was a missing piece of
Starting point is 00:40:00 finally get that. No, wasn't because two years later he accepted a role in Portland and actually show that he could be that yeah what are you saying things i can't
Starting point is 00:40:13 another are you telling me you can score from this side of the floor it's going from that side of the floor and i can tell you yet and i'd want to shoot in the ball from any point in the floor he was in Portland as a thirty five goddam your old part
Starting point is 00:40:24 please stop cursing goddamn is not a place It is a God now stomping around His Cody is new. He's doing Panther sounds. He can say bullshit like the guy's row. I want to get in here I think we mentioned this before but the Florida Panthers are going to the stand for it. Yeah! Hey, bye! I'm not going to be the second! I'm not going to be the second!
Starting point is 00:40:52 I'm not going to be the second!
