Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Giraffe King's Network. This is a paid advertisement from BetterHelp. As a podcast listener, you've heard from us before. Today, let's hear what members have told us. One member said, I would recommend my therapist 1,000 times over. She has truly changed my life. Another member said, the day after my first 1,000 times over. She has truly changed my life. Another member said, the day after my first session, my friends and family said I sounded like myself again
Starting point is 00:00:30 for the first time in weeks. You deserve to invest in your well-being. Visit betterhelp.com to see what it can do for you. That's better, H-E-L-P.com. That's the sound of unaged whiskey transforming into Jack Daniels Tennessee whiskey in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Around 1860, nearest green taught Jack Daniel how to filter whiskey through charcoal for a smoother taste, one drop at a time. This is one of many sounds in Tennessee with a story to tell.
Starting point is 00:01:05 To hear them in person, plan your trip at TNVacation.com. Tennessee sounds perfect. Welcome to the Big Sui, presented by DraftKings. Why are you listening to this show? The podcast that seems very similar to the other Dan LeBattard podcast. I'm sorry, I'm not going to apologize for that. In fact, the other Dan LeBattard podcast. I'm sorry, I'm not gonna apologize for that. In fact, the only difference seems to be this imaging. I have been tempted in restaurants just walking past tables to grab somebody's fries if they're
Starting point is 00:01:34 just there. That hasn't happened to you guys? I've done it. And now, here's the marching man to nowhere, fat face and the habitual liar. You know, I was gonna start with Panthers. Right. Very judged for sneezing last segment. He just got heckled by the director.
Starting point is 00:01:52 The director's gonna be like, Bill, you ready to go or you gonna sneeze? That's what I'm saying. That's why I go hide in my house. Geez, Luis, can I live? I guess not. So the Panthers, huh? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:03 GQ's got the right energy back there and that could chuck Jersey. I'm so excited for tomorrow. I could tell. Oh my God. I might go there today. You won't. Just go to the quarter deck and just say,
Starting point is 00:02:13 I'm gonna be here. Just camp out of the quarter deck. Just open up a tab. There is something to that though. When your team is gonna play for a championship and you get excited, let me just drive past the arena. See if anything's going on there.
Starting point is 00:02:25 They've also given us an entire week to work ourselves up into a lather, which I freaking hate. It's crazy, yes. If there's a game seven, you essentially have like five days of championship glow to wear off before you can convince a bad contract on your books to waive their no move clause.
Starting point is 00:02:45 That's not possible. You want to have any conversation with Aaron Echflit about doing a, hey, maybe let's restructure, let's maybe look at our options. You can't do that. Seven days removed potentially from a championship. Right. It's bad.
Starting point is 00:03:01 It's really bad. And I know that there's really serious talks about them altering the NHL schedule in particular, because people in Canada are really miffed for several reasons, one of which is like, how does this series potentially end just a couple of days before Canada Day? Right.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Oh, please, Canada. And why is Florida dominating hockey? I mean. Last five years. You want to say in hockey, win a cup. It's been 30 years. Yeah. Last five years, there's been a Florida team in this final.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Yeah, Hockey Town USA. Chris, have you ever driven past the arena before the game? Well, I live right there, so literally, yes. OK, so it's safe to say Mike has never done that. We'll not do that. Billy's not doing that. I have, not for the Panthers. For what?
Starting point is 00:03:41 No, if things are doing good, you do a drive-by. Hmm, what's this all about? But Low Deep Oak Park, when have you ever had to do that for Low Deep Oak Park? No, I drive by the heat. I say, you know, the AAA. Oh, they've changed. We're not talking about-
Starting point is 00:03:52 The shampy chip banners are up there. Where we park for work. White hot. Oh, look, the LED board in front of the screen. And now it has, there's Larry O'Brien. We're getting ready. It's exciting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:00 You guys don't do that. You guys don't get excited. I'm sorry. Pardon me for being excited about things in life. Like, I don't understand. I can't sneeze. I can't be excited. What can I do? I mean, Billy, you're acting like I had a reason't do that, you guys don't get excited. I'm sorry, pardon me for being excited about things in life. Like I don't understand, I can't sneeze, I can't be excited, what can I do? I mean, Bill, you're acting like I had a reason to do that. Like give me the jet game that it would've driven out
Starting point is 00:04:11 to New Jersey beforehand just to get a pulse of the stadium. Even down here like 40 years at this point. Even your apology for your faux excitement was dripping in sarcasm. What? I didn't hear you, Jeremy was talking. What? I do that all the time when like Iowa has a big game.
Starting point is 00:04:27 Like we used to drive around Lucas Oil, like ahead of the big teams. The calm before the storm. Oh yeah, and I'm like, oh I got a good feeling by this and then we'd lose by 45. Yeah. Every single time. But for those moments you're driving,
Starting point is 00:04:37 it's really exciting. But it's Iowa. You like, you visualize it, you're like, ah, the confetti. It's gonna be our colors, it's falling down. And then by halfway through the first quarter I'm like oh this is miserable experience yeah but when you live in Iowa and you only have a handful of things to do that's what you do well I was in Indiana at the time so there are slightly more things to do so not a lot but slightly more that's where
Starting point is 00:04:58 Lucas oil is I do agree with Billy though because it gives you an opportunity to sort of extend that good feeling you You're around the arena, you're thinking about how good this is going to feel as you go into game one. Chris, I think we should do the arena drive-by today. We both live within about 10 minutes. You know, go check it out. I've come to learn though that good feelings really don't mean anything once the game starts. All goes away. That's why you want to have it beforehand.
Starting point is 00:05:23 As Lucy learned with all the drive-arounds. Don't drive arounds. So you wanna get your good feelings in? Where's Goldie? He's pushed back here. He asked us to do a little bit later. I was excited for like, you know, okay, finally ice time and this is what we're doing with it.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Yeah, we're talking puck. All right, if you, I got, Mike, what'd you make of Greg Cody's week? Yeah. This show is just happening. He's embarrassed by it. He's trying to annoy me. What? What happened?
Starting point is 00:05:44 It's just, it's been. What happened? We had Sean McDonough on who's calling the Stanley Cup. We had Randy Molder on we had Steve Levy on I tried to cover the club. We had Roy in a couple of days. The show comes out later today Yes, my expectations for Greg. What does it do? I mean exactly zero, right? Those are my expectations for Greg Cody I was actually more bothered by the lack of checking Greg Cody by their show than anything. Roy was pretty aggressively. No I saw the clip like as as Greg Cody is like you got to be like a Wayne Gretzky the greats pull their team Wayne Gretzky played with the Oilers they traded Wayne Gretzky they won a Stanley Cup after trading Wayne Gretzky you know who didn't win a Stanley Cup without the Oilers Wayne Gretzky. They won a Stanley Cup after trading Wayne Gretzky. You know who didn't
Starting point is 00:06:25 win a Stanley Cup without the Oilers? Wayne Gretzky. What's that mean? I'm saying that his whole logic was really flawed. And yes, you need a really great team. Nobody wins it. It's the hardest trophy in sports to win. No one does it on their own. To like, yeah, you can hold that against Connor McDavid. He hasn't won the Stanley Cup yet, yet. He still has plenty of time. The guy's like a nine-year veteran
Starting point is 00:06:52 and he's in the prime of his career. In Mike's defense, I will say that Gretzky's teams, those oiler teams back in the 80s, they had Marc Messier on it. Yeah, and Messier did win one away from the Oilers. That team had, yeah, it had Curry, it had Glenn Anderson, Paul Coffey, it had Grant Fuhr. And Greg's offense though, Wayne Gretzky's nickname was the Great One, not the Great Team. So, do it that way you will.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Mike, you said you didn't hear it. My dad talking to Mike Johnson yesterday, he was like, you know, holding his own boxing match midway through. He knocked himself out Mike asked him something about like how many minutes you think he Connor can play a game and my dad goes seven or eight And at that point the boxer pooped himself and Mike Johnson won the fight And then Mike Johnson was Mike Johnson embarrassed as to like how worked up he got He was over a guy that thinks like seven minutes of ice time is good He goes that's all that really needs to be said right there. Yeah. Now, Greg said afterwards that what he meant was he plays seven to eight
Starting point is 00:07:51 minutes per period. That's because we brought it up for him in his defense. Yeah. I've actually heard from like guys like Sid Shishiro in Canada. I've heard from a couple of Canadians and there's a couple of Canadians that actually do get the show that are trying to explain to TSN and Jay Onright, like what are you doing? Why are you taking this person seriously?
Starting point is 00:08:10 And thankfully Greg and all his ensuing media appearances has kind of removed any doubt that is this guy serious? Is this a real person? Is this a real take? Because I was honestly, like my first thing is like great, we just gave bulletin board material to the best player on the planet amazing and then I realized like Hopefully hopefully by day three of this people will realize that Greg Cody is an unserious person And I think that's what's happened
Starting point is 00:08:38 About this whole situation with the Panthers because I thought the Panthers were boxing me out of covering it But I found out it was Roy that's not like I'll cover the Panthers because I thought the Panthers were boxing me out of covering it, but I found it It was Roy that's not like I'll cover the Panthers. I was like you know what who's Roy our Panthers coverage It's been a lot for people that don't care Maybe it'd be funny if the Panthers didn't win right but now that Canada is being all judging McJug's gene over here Over Greg Cody, and now that they're you know they think they're holier than thou I hope I hope the Panthers win Oh finally This is what it took I hope I hope the Panthers win. Oh finally Wins a Stanley Cup again and these miserable Canucks up there who think that they're better than the rest of us that they know hockey Better than everyone else get the show
Starting point is 00:09:15 How about you get the cup which you haven't for 30 years and you're not gonna this year because Connor Mc Overrated is gonna choke and vomit all over himself all over again because he's no Wayne Gretzky who did it all on his own and needed no help ever. Hockey. Well done Billy. Canada I'm just warning you don't fall for it again. This is a slightly more unserious person. Fall for what? It was asked like it fell on me after like we ran into credential issues for Billy like Mike you have some contacts over at at the Panthers can you do anything for Billy I was like absolutely not absolutely not there I'm not gonna put my neck out on the line Billy just make fun of the
Starting point is 00:10:00 entire thing no thank you pardon you. Pardon me. Billy loves Pock. Exactly right. All he asked this show was, hey, let's not talk about it or break it down until we get to the Stanley Cup. Now we're here. He's talking about it. Yeah. People also were telling why
Starting point is 00:10:16 is it that we don't want to talk? Why don't we want to talk about it? Nobody asked the Panthers why they didn't want to talk to or why they didn't want to touch what's it called? The Prince's Diana trophy beforehand. And now all of a sudden sudden I'm the one that doesn't
Starting point is 00:10:28 talk about until the Stanley Cup. I was just like the Panthers. I only care about Lord Stanley and here I am, they're boxing me out. And Greg Cody. And Greg Cody. Yeah. Mike, this feels like the NBA finals where Edmonton might have the two best players on the ice but the Panthers have like the next 10 after that. I don't think so. And I know that take was out there. No, and Chris was right to point out Zach Hyman's a 50 goal scorer.
Starting point is 00:10:52 Evan Bouchard, for my money, like I'm kind of trying to manifest Gustav Forstling to be Con Smythe, but I think up until this point, you can make a real strong argument that the most valuable player on each team has been a defenseman. Evan Bouchard has actually been running quarterback on some of these power plays. I mean a year ago we were calling Edmonton possibly the greatest power play we've ever seen. They're now on top
Starting point is 00:11:16 of that. They've had an incredible run on their penalty kill unit. Evan Bouchard has really been, I don't know if you've seen this guy shoot the puck. It's like Al McGuinness, and I know Sugatze gets that reference. It's knuckle puck time every time this guy gets over a puck. It is a huge weapon. It's terrifying, especially if you have a goalie that can occasionally give up big juicy rebounds,
Starting point is 00:11:40 and Zach Hyman's a guy that'll stand in front of the net and totally take advantage of that. So I do think that there are matchup aspects here from Edmonton, especially that their two best players are centermen Because we've seen what Florida can do with these wingers that they just get pushed out to the boards and they get erased Individual moments of brilliance from the center ice position that can give Florida a problem and they've got guys in dry side Oh and McDavid that can give Florida a problem. And they've got guys in dry side, only McDavid that can do that. They've got a huge weapon in that Bouchard shot that will provide big
Starting point is 00:12:09 juicy rebounds for guys that are really good at putting those away. So at first, when the series first started, what was announced, I was like, okay, cats in five. That's the energy that I got. But I realized that there are some matchup things here that can really
Starting point is 00:12:22 bother Florida. And at the same time, Florida has a physicality that Is really unmatched by any opponent that Edmonton is faced you saw the difficulty that they had against Vancouver They went to seven against Vancouver probably should have lost that series Well, Florida is Vancouver on steroids Florida is Vancouver with really battle-tested players So I think it's actually gonna be a great series. I can't wait for it to get underway because the matchups that we're gonna see play out
Starting point is 00:12:51 in this sport are gonna be tremendous. Can the Florida Panthers penalty kill stay as hot as it was against the Rangers? Is that not the key to the entire series? Well, I think the bigger question is can't Edmontons say that high? They killed 30 out of like 32 against the Rangers. Why is it that Connor McDavid can win with his team helping him?
Starting point is 00:13:07 But Jason Tatum has to do it on his own great point Well, but kind of like Connor McDavid is going for but Connor McDavid is and I know I just touted Evan Bouchard I don't know if you saw the individual moment of brilliance against Dallas where he takes on realizes that Mira Haskin and is on his weak side and he does an where he takes on realizes that Miro Haskinen is on his weak side and he does an Unbelievable move that only Connor McDavid can do like Connor McDavid It is very obvious that when this game starts when they when they drop that puck He is undeniably the most skilled player on the ice And it's a it's upon guys like Gustav Forsyng and Sasha Barkov to neutralize that
Starting point is 00:13:42 I mean in Charlotte get to join us next from Boston, but Billy, to answer your question, it's because Jason Tatum plays 38 minutes a game, and we all know the best players in hockey only play seven or eight. Backstreet's back, all right. Since the dawn of mankind, we've cooked our food over an open flame
Starting point is 00:14:01 and debated the best way to grill. One thing not up for debate, grilling and beer always always go together but not just any beer would do. Whether you barbecue, Texas style or just celebrate Wednesday with burgers and dogs I love Miller Lite. Every single time my team plays on television I am sitting behind that television screen with a Miller Lite or three. Miller Lite keeps it simple, undebatable quality, tastes as great as your barbecue. It's the beer that strips away everything you don't need and holds on to what matters the most. With the Miller Lite in hand, grilling doesn't just taste great, it tastes like Miller
Starting point is 00:14:37 time. To get Miller Lite delivered right to your door, visit MillerLite.com slash Dan or you can find it pretty much anywhere that sells beer. Celebrate responsibly. Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 96 calories per 12 ounces. Hoo! Don LeBretard. Our Panther group chat,
Starting point is 00:14:57 we're confident against the lightning. This is a different team. You're a Panther group chat though. No, I think, no, but dude, you're so wrong on that. We've been terrified of this team forever And I think there's a different energy where the Panthers they want the lightning Stugats I want t-shirts made for this Panther run what could be this Panther run our Panther group chat We're not afraid of the lightning. That's a tagline for World R3
Starting point is 00:15:21 This is the Dunlap atar Show with the Stugats. He makes saves that it seems to be Reminds me of highway robbery Where every park looks as big as a bright beach ball Now and then when he stops a shot And the whole arena starts chanting Bob You start to feel like maybe he'll stop them all Whoa, sweet Bob of mine Whoa, sweet Barbara Mines Chris, what is the latest here? Thank you for the song. Whoever sent that in. Very good. So I love that song, by the way. Hmm. Well, not that actual song. The original song. Every girl dad loves that song. You don't love that song? I mean, I loved the song before I was a dad, but I understand now. Yeah about having a daughter
Starting point is 00:16:49 Yeah, I mean typically I mean if you go into the history of the song, I don't know It's just like a big girl dad energy song. Do you go into song histories because I don't yeah Yeah, I listen to them if I like them. I keep listening. I don't look back though. I mean, I look ahead, Mike. What?
Starting point is 00:17:10 You've never been like, Hotel California, what's that about? No. It's a hotel in California. I assume, right? It's about health. Health? Barber Isles. Guys, big news.
Starting point is 00:17:19 For everyone worried about the fact that Mike Tyson had a medical scare on a plane, they had to presumably cancel that fight, postpone it. There's a new date it's back on. November 15th, it's happening. Same location on Netflix. Allegedly. All right.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will be fighting. I'm with Mike, we'll see. It's all Saturday now. I was so excited for it and now it all makes me sad There's nothing about this that's surprising like a boxing training camp is pretty hardcore And like I have legitimate questions as to whether or not Mike Tyson can actually get through a camp at his age I mean the an ulcer undid this yeah If you're Mike Tyson though, I mean I guess pride aside, right?
Starting point is 00:18:06 Ten million dollars, fifteen million dollars, whatever he's gonna make, take a dive to Jake Ball. I'd do it. Of course you would. Fifty-seven make fifteen million dollars or whatever it is? Yes. The last chance Mike Tyson will have to make fifteen million dollars in a single night again. Yes. That's probably true. Right. A single night. That's probably true. So you take it. Of course you take it and you do anything you have to do to get that fight rescheduled and to get yourself in some sort of condition. I wouldn't
Starting point is 00:18:30 even bother if I don't get to take a dive. Where you can walk into the ring. Yeah. Jeremy did some research and apparently Sweet Child of Mine is not about a child. It's actually about Axel's girlfriend. So it's kind of like Brown Eyed Girl in that one. So that's why I don't look backwards. I just look ahead, right? So that ruins the song for me now. Exactly. I hate that song.
Starting point is 00:18:48 Well you didn't know it minutes ago, I don't believe that. It's still a Girl Dad anthem. That is a Girl Dad anthem. Chris, you had communication with Micah Parsons yesterday. We were talking about whether or not, how many hits he would get off Jeremy Tashay. Well, Micah claimed he would hit 200 in the major leagues,
Starting point is 00:19:07 at which point Jeremy said he wouldn't even hit 200 against me. That's right. Did Michael remember you? He followed me from the hot whistle. The hot whistle. Yes, yes. That's why I had that line of communication.
Starting point is 00:19:16 I had DM'd him a long time ago, never responded, and this one I just wrote, hey, one of our guys on our show says he's a pitcher and he could get you out. And he wrote back, LFG. So of course in classic, I ruined it then. In classic StuGott's fashion, I went right back with, would you like to join us tomorrow to accept his challenge? And that message has not been responded to.
Starting point is 00:19:37 Well, that's what you have to do. I mean, what are you talking about, StuGott's fashion? Nah, I think I could have played it cooler. No, you strike while the iron's hot, man. Yeah, but I think I go back with just something else that's not, hey, give me, give me. I could have just been like, aw, I think I could have played it cooler. No, you strike while the iron's hot, man. Yeah, but I think I go back with just something else that's not, hey, give me, give me. I could have just been like, oh, this'll be awesome. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:19:50 Best of luck this season, man. Yeah, I screwed it up. Oh, we'll let you know when we can get to Dallas. This came to me. I'm the opposite of that. If I ever have an exchange with someone and they reply in a positive sense, I'm immediately like, let me not blow this, and I just don't respond and then like I leave them on read
Starting point is 00:20:08 But it's because I'm like I don't want to say the wrong thing and I don't want to scare them off And then instead I just look like a jerk who doesn't answer them Planning cool you think too much. I'm down with yeah Yeah Oh god Like if I didn't get a vacation if I didn't say anything to Micah like it after his LFG, if I just let it there. I think three days later he goes, so are we doing this?
Starting point is 00:20:28 I don't think so. You get a question mark. You think it's sitting in his mind, like he's thinking to himself, hey that guy from the Levitard show, he reached out to me 72 hours ago, I still haven't heard back yet, so I'm gonna reach out to him.
Starting point is 00:20:41 He just doesn't wanna get embarrassed, that's why he hasn't responded. Okay, that's definitely not it. Jesus Christ. Chris, do you think that Micah, and I feel like everybody has, So while I'm gonna reach out to him. He just doesn't want to get embarrassed. Okay That's definitely not a just Christ Chris Do you think that Micah and I feel like everybody has like these people and him obviously is like a professional athlete more So than anyone else do you think that you're one of the people that he follows? He's like who why do I follow this person like how did this happen? He's had to have seen a tweet him on and just been like
Starting point is 00:21:02 Cuz or maybe he's like hot whistle guy my man No, but like not so much that that he's unf Hot Whistle Guy, my man. I remember that dude. No, but like not so much that he's unfollowed you, obviously, like I have people like that on Instagram that are like, who's this? Like, who's wedding night? Watching pictures from now? If he remembers me as anything, it's the sweaty guy,
Starting point is 00:21:15 because if you remember the bit we did is I took a bite of some hot pizza and then when he wasn't looking at me, I poured water all over my face and then he glanced back at me and he's like, what the, like what just happened to you? And so I'm I'm the sweaty one I think if I'm anything to him but you have Micah with everything going on in his life thinking three days after you had that original conversation I haven't heard back from my friend Chris I imagine I imagine somebody you have to text them you have to send them a DM every hour until he says something I
Starting point is 00:21:42 imagine that's no every hour no I says something. I imagine somebody. That's no. Every hour. No, I think three days later, someone brings up. What's happening? Someone brings up baseball. Guess booking. You'll get blocked. No. Someone brings up baseball to him and he's like,
Starting point is 00:21:51 oh yeah, some producer for some show reached out to me about that. I'm just trying to think of the moment when Michael Parsons has been on Twitter and questioned why am I following this guy. And my assumption is it's about a month ago when Chris retweeted the picture of his father's face all banged up and bloody and swollen,
Starting point is 00:22:07 and all of a sudden seeing Greg Cody's face on his timeline, he might have been like, what, why am I following this guy? But he continued to do it. I think when he saw that he went, gooo! I don't think he's ever made that sound. Me and Jeremy had a real conversation, it was a one-way conversation.
Starting point is 00:22:21 Jeremy was talking, I was kind of listening. Where he was saying if Micah agrees to this, that he needs a couple of months of training. I need a month. I'm so confused. So wait a minute, Jeremy, you pitched in high school. I did. And you think 10 years removed from that,
Starting point is 00:22:38 that you are gonna strike out Micah Parsons? I said Micah Parsons would not hit 200 off me. We agreed to give him 10 at bats and see if he can get two hits off Jeremy. Well, hold on, but you can't include like pitches that aren't swung at it. It has to be 10 swings. No, it'll be like, yeah, I'll be the umpire.
Starting point is 00:22:54 At bats, real at bats. He says he can hit 200 in Major League Baseball. I'm saying if we had an umpire and a bunch of people in the field and I'm throwing a baseball off a mound, two Micah Parsons, he would not get two hits off of me. Why? Do you think you're a great pitcher?
Starting point is 00:23:09 Because I don't think that hitting a baseball is as easy as Micah Parsons thinks it is. How hard do you throw? That's why I need a month. So you did this yesterday. You're fielding a whole team. I'd like just people to stand at their positions maybe. Or if it's a ground ball to third
Starting point is 00:23:22 where you know it'd be an out, it's an out. Yeah, you don't go with the fastball by the way. It's the movement that throws them off. Yeah, you gotta buckle the knees. The only one watching baseball these days appears to be Mike Ryan, it seems like it. Lucy, is this the most delusional office you've worked in?
Starting point is 00:23:39 Oh yeah. This is not delusional. I'm very grateful for what Mike is doing because he is watching baseball and he's gonna update us here He has something called the baseball roundup and the reason I'm grateful is I am no longer watching baseball Yeah, and so I have no idea what's going on in Major League Baseball But Mike does because he's paying attention and he's watching. Here's your hardball update Here's what's going on in the sport right now. Not a roundup. It's a roundup, he said.
Starting point is 00:24:06 Ipe, Shohei's guy, he's been photographed by the New York Post. He is now apparently an Uber Eats delivery driver, which is, I'm not gonna say it's not at all funny when you consider this controversy, because it doesn't appear like anybody outside of Ipe has been hurt by this, but he's very clearly being hurt. That is a fall from grace. That is a sobering moment. Ipe is now an Uber delivery person. You say he's the only one that's hurt, but I mean, he did take $17 million from Shohei.
Starting point is 00:24:40 I think he's going to be okay though. You're right. Yeah. And speaking of Shohei. Yeah, there were no like actual victims of this crime. Shohei it was yeah, and he was just coming up. Oh, it was Show a really clearly appears to be a good guy because he knew in that opening series What Ipe had done and they were? Photographed having a good time and the dugout and yucking it up, but I up. I don't know about their interpersonal dynamics. I imagine this affected it some.
Starting point is 00:25:07 The federal government and Major League Baseball's investigations into this are closed. Mine is not. So I'd just like to let the public know that right now. I'm still with Billy on this. There's something. There's more to this than what we've been told. Kind of like the Stephen A thing.
Starting point is 00:25:19 Not sure how I feel about it, but there's something going on here. Something happened. Well, here's the something. We're not being told everything. I don't care how much money you have, you notice when $15 million is taken out of your account. It's impossible.
Starting point is 00:25:29 I mean, I'm sorry. Something, the investigation's ongoing in my opinion. I mean, I do go like 10 days sometimes without looking at my bank account. Like, there is a chance that I would eventually notice. Okay, here's a situation. You have $100 million in your bank account. You don't check it for a month.
Starting point is 00:25:48 You then check it and it says you have $83 million in your bank account. You'd kind of be like, wait a minute. Right. But you could put on. I've never been in this spot, but I imagine he has a money guy. Maybe the money guy took some money
Starting point is 00:26:01 and put it in this trust fund and. He had access. It was his trainer. Yeah, and I'm not exactly sure how much and put it in this trust fund. He had access. It was his trainer. Yeah, and I'm not exactly sure how much, and maybe you could look this up, I'm not exactly sure how much Ohtani, I think we're projecting a wealth upon him that he hasn't actually gotten yet.
Starting point is 00:26:15 Because getting it in 40 years. Like he deferred a lot of this. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, because he made like 50 or 60 million dollars in endorsement money. Yeah, but that's really different, like considering the amount of money that was purportedly taken from him,
Starting point is 00:26:27 like you do miss that. Well, if he's, you do feel that. A million dollars. Unless you never check your account. Right. That's why the investigation's ongoing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:36 I'm just saying. So speaking of show, Hey, Otani, pretty marquee series going down. It's getting national television coverage. I know the Saturday game is gonna be on Fox, Network Fox, but Otani and his Dodgers play the New York Yankees. And that's always a glamour match up. That's a special thing. And I had a brief conversation with Stu Gotz before the show. And I imagine a lot of people are like this, Stu Gotz, did you know your Mets were playing in London this weekend?
Starting point is 00:27:04 Nope. Yeah. The Philly Fanatic was photographed in front of Buckingham Palace. There is a London series going on between the Phillies and the Mets. Did you see one of the storefronts that was promoting the series? So I guess they get to choose whatever marketing they use to promote this series.
Starting point is 00:27:21 They use the photo of a Mets pitcher that hasn't been on the Mets in like three years and had an ERA of like nine in eight appearances. with this series, they used the photo of a Mets pitcher that hasn't been on the Mets in like three years and had an ERA of like nine in eight appearances. Cause I guess they just decided, let's pick attractive looking baseball players and put them on there. Guys not even on the team.
Starting point is 00:27:33 Was it Matt Harvey? Also, you were talking about marquee matchups. As you guys see, there was a big one for those people that are those seam heads, if you will, out there that like baseball. There was a big one between Shohei Otani and Paul Skeens. Yeah, that was a really cool showdown. It was awesomehei Otani and Paul Skeens. The number one pitching project. Yeah, that was a really cool showdown.
Starting point is 00:27:46 What a matchup. I saw that. Skeens, three pitches over 100 miles an hour, struck out Otani. Next up, bad Otani, boom, dead center field, bomb. Wow. Off Skeens. And baseball.
Starting point is 00:27:55 Didn't take them long to figure out Skeens. Was there a third at bat? Yeah, but I don't think so. Baseball adjacent, because I gave you a story that was on first base, second base, and third base. Home plate is not actually a baseball story, but it's a sport that's close enough the roundup I see you doing here huge upset one of the biggest upsets in the history of cricket
Starting point is 00:28:11 The US of the World Cup cricket has upset Pakistan. So there's that What I mean, it's apparently a big one more like have your bags. Oh boy Don libertar Florida claws back from down to woe because they were getting their asses handed to them by Toronto to then get lit a fire Under underneath them by their head coach Paul Maurice who did the thing remember how the run spark was sparked last year Stugarts, he called him a bunch of peas and bees He did the thing again called him a bunch of peas and bees and then boom five unanswered you win the division This is the done libertar show with the Stu gods The host of oddball Amin and Charlotte our friends are in Boston they were at the game covering the NBA finals
Starting point is 00:29:03 They're in a weird-looking studio right now, and Amin looks weird, and what I mean by that... What? No, he does. Amin looks good, and to me and Mike, that's fairly jarring. This is the best I have seen Amin look since I've known Amin Elhassan. That's a great-looking DraftKings studio in Boston,
Starting point is 00:29:18 I must say. Thank you. Okay. It's beautiful. I'm sorry. I mean, I apologize. There's just wood, there's bricks, there's boxing gloves. I don't know. What's just wood. There's bricks. There's boxing gloves I don't know. What's wrong with wood? We have our logo up there. Are you kidding me? It says on Paul
Starting point is 00:29:31 All right and boxing gloves. Listen my apologies. I mean, how do you look so good? Yeah, what's going on? Man I'm living my best life I'm at in Boston one of the best cities in all the land and I'm watching NBA Finals basketball, which is fantastic I don't know you've lost like 15 pounds in two days. The haircut is really good. Something's going on I'm gonna get to the bottom. Maybe it's the stretching. Are you wearing a faha? What's a fah? I don't know like a girl or something. Oh, he's wearing it. Is it like sucking your gut? No Like a corset? Yeah, sure Instagram wants me to buy one of those so bad. Yeah, no he's not wearing a corset
Starting point is 00:30:12 I was gonna say that's the key though is that you don't know if he's wearing one you pull it up in the love handles Just go away. Yeah, my jealousy is at a point that if someone else looks good. Yes Yes, this person's cheating the game. How did that person get to that? Mike your beard looks very strong. Well that's because I dyed it. Right. Oh. Really? Full dye or just the just the just the. No I went to the barber yesterday. Oh and he dyed it. And also I did a 72 hour fast. Thanks for noticing. Oh. I didn't notice. Your skin is glowing. Yeah well that's another byproduct of that. Also white cell rejuvenation. This guy on TikTok told me about it. Billy, why are you saying that Charlotte
Starting point is 00:30:49 has pissed off everyone in the office without knowing that she's done so? Not everyone, but there are some bad feelings towards Charlotte since she left when she was down here last week or the week before. What? Yeah, so. What did I do?
Starting point is 00:31:01 Well, we had a coworker that was very thoughtful and bought Charlotte a gift, bought Charlotte a Dunkin' Donuts hat that she wanted, a fuzzy Dunkin' Donuts, what do you even call those types of hats? Like a floppy hat. A bucket hat. A bucket hat.
Starting point is 00:31:13 And I can explain. So Mike Fuentes bought a Dunkin' Donuts bucket hat from the Super Bowl commercial. I guess she really talked about it or liked it or wanted it or whatever. Lo and behold, that bucket hat is still here. She left town and left the gift behind. Because, hear me out.
Starting point is 00:31:27 Hear me out, okay. I told Fuentes, Mike, I told you this when you gave it to me. I said, I am putting it on top of this football on the shelf so that when I come back, I can wear it. Because in the hecticness of what is the Miami LeBotard Show universe, I forgot to put it on on the show and I was really upset
Starting point is 00:31:44 and I felt really bad. There, you look amazing. I didn't wanna bring it back to New York, forget it, and not wear it on the show a second time. I hope that is a sufficient apology. Oh! I think he's thrilled that he got to be on air. Yeah, probably.
Starting point is 00:32:02 So you guys were in the house last night for game one. Kyrie said he was surprised it wasn't louder. Do you share the same opinion? They're surprised Kyrie wasn't better by the way. It's pretty good Stu. Thank you. That's excellent. Now I turned to Charlotte at halftime and I said I thought they'd be louder, I thought they'd be crazier, I thought Caleb Martin got it worse and then the second half started and they started with the Kyrie Sucks
Starting point is 00:32:31 and they were all for them so it just sounded like they were saying Kyrie, Kyrie, Kyrie, Kyrie cause the Sucks just kept getting bled out. Yeah it was like they were doing a round, you know like when you do Row Row Row Your Boat and then another- Ooh let's do that. But it was just Kyrie S, and then at the off times.
Starting point is 00:32:47 I thought the second half fans definitely kicked up the animosity, and I feel like Kyrie was saying that a little bit to get under fans' skins even more, to be honest. He was like, I'm surprised it's not louder. Like, that's about the best thing you can say to troll a fan base that already doesn't like you. Listen, I am prisoner of the moment and Charlotte will start with you here.
Starting point is 00:33:09 I said to start the show, it feels like the series is over. It started last night and it ended last night because Boston is a historically good team. I was reading the stat before that they are 46 and 4 this season when they have a 17 point lead. That's not the amazing part of the stat. The amazing part of the stat is they played in 50 games of the 82, 50 games in which they had a 17-point lead, which is incredible. So, do you feel like I feel today that this series is going to be over and over quickly? I mean, after last night, maybe I'm a prisoner of
Starting point is 00:33:42 the moment, too. Maybe I have more stugots in my heart than I previously thought, but I do, I think that it was such a dominant performance. If Christoph Frisengis keeps playing like this, and they all keep playing well, look like it's tough to, tough to. Okay, so this is a fraud sitting next to me. This is an absolute fraud, because yesterday,
Starting point is 00:34:02 they're up 29 or whatever in the second quarter, and I said to Charlotte all they got to do is get it to 20 by halftime They got it to 21. I was like, that's pretty close. She's like no, but this is it's it's a big lead or whatever I said, okay Second half starts. They I say it's down to 18. It's down to 16 And when it got to single digits, Charlotte was white as a ghost. She was shaking. She was, damn near vomiting. I thought I had to get a bucket
Starting point is 00:34:30 just to make sure she doesn't throw up all over the seats. I mean, there's a big difference between being nervous and losing faith. I never lost faith. I mean, you're gonna tell me here that Jason Kidd's gonna make adjustments, that the Mavericks are gonna be better,
Starting point is 00:34:44 that the Celtics won't be that good. And what I'm telling you're going to tell me here that Jason Kidd's going to make adjustments, that the Mavericks are going to be better, that the Celtics won't be that good. And what I'm telling you is we're not giving the Celtics enough credit. This team is great. They're not good. They are a great NBA basketball team. Stu, got some surprise. You are the author of the statement, a series doesn't start until the home team loses, right? Yeah, that's fair. Until we get a road win. Yeah, that's fair. And so win. Yeah, that's fair.
Starting point is 00:35:05 And so to say that the the series started and ended last night. Yeah, I'm pretty shocked that you're you're well, it will start game three. I mean, that's when the series will start. Okay, game three when Boston goes up three. Oh,
Starting point is 00:35:16 because they've won a Dallas is home court. I I just don't see what if Luka is going to be that lazy playing defense and Kyrie is going to be that bad offensively and I know he's not going to be that bad offensively and I know he's not going to be that bad offensively but he needs to be really good in order to beat a team that has six guys in double digits last night. I mean they're great.
Starting point is 00:35:34 Well that was part of what was crazy is at halftime just looking at the box score and all of these guys are scoring so consistently. Of course Amin turns that into being like oh so none of them should have been all in BA. And I was like, oh. That was not for air. That was not for air. That was just me trying. I was strolling Charlotte.
Starting point is 00:35:53 That's all I was doing in that moment. I mean, the depth of the roster, when you directly compare it to what's across for them on the court really suck out. Like the fourth best player on Boston, the fifth best player on Boston. If you just put them on Dallas, it would seem like it would help in this series. I mean, they're Luka only had what? Two assists? One assist? Yeah. I know a lot of that you give a lot of credit to Boston there, but also this is the teammates. And I
Starting point is 00:36:25 mentioned that in one of the group chats I put in, is Tim Hardaway among the worst number threes ever? And I know PJ's the number three now, or at least he ascended there, but who, if anyone, can step up for Dallas so they can be the first team this entire postseason to actually really put a scare in Boston? I don't mean like late game situations like Indy, like really put a scare, because Boston's right now on the precipice of winning a title in which they haven't actually been challenged.
Starting point is 00:36:52 I think there's a couple things, Mike. First of all, it's funny you say that Boston is deeper, because I think they're only six guys. Like after Horford. But I think Dallas is only two guys. No, it's not though. An occasional third. P.J. Washington is good.
Starting point is 00:37:08 Derrick Jones Jr. is good. Man, these names. And Gafford, they're good. And Hardee coming off the bench, he's good. Kleber is good. Tim Hardaway Jr. didn't even play. He played in garbage time. So I think they definitely have more people that I would trust on a basketball court than the Celtics do past six, right? The problem
Starting point is 00:37:29 is the Celtics top six is really really good and that's what I think is blurring the lines a little bit. But the reality is this, I thought like Boston, I asked Charlotte, I said on oddball, Boston's gonna win game one by a lot because if you look up and down their roster it's a bunch of dudes who have been to the finals even guys like Prichard and Hauser They were on that finals team two years ago Drew Holliday obviously finals Horford Derek White all those guys other than Porzingis really have been to the finals you look at Dallas first time at the rodeo for a lot of those guys And so I knew those role players were gonna be a little shell-shocked
Starting point is 00:38:01 at the rodeo for a lot of those guys. And so I knew those role players were gonna be a little shell shot. The other thing is, and Stu got you talking about what adjustments can Jason Kidd make, here's one, how about attacking Porzingis more? Because I thought the Celtics did a great job of hiding him defensively, allowing him to play drop coverage and trying to fight over the screens. And I didn't think Dallas did a good enough job of drawing him out the way they did with Rudy Gobert in the last round. When you talk about the adjustments that Boston and Dallas each need to make
Starting point is 00:38:29 with Dallas, it seems like their issue defensively was that Drew Holiday was the guy sort of sitting in the dunker spot and you ended up with not a lot of length contesting Boston at the rim and allowing them to make decisions. So what type of adjustments do you expect Jason Kidd and Dallas to be able to make, not just on the offensive end, to be able to get the ball moving a little more and have more than nine assists on 35 field goals, but also on that defensive end going forward? And do you trust Jason Kidd to do it? Well, I think defensively, clearly, Boston lives in a comfort zone when they're shooting
Starting point is 00:39:03 a lot of threes, and they got up 40-plus attempts last night. That's not good enough if you're Dallas, right? Three-point defense in the NBA is not about the percentage, because the reality is you have very little to do with whether a shooter makes or misses a shot. The true mark of a good defense is when you don't even get to shoot those threes. I thought Dallas gave up a lot of wide open threes.
Starting point is 00:39:25 They just weren't rotating quick enough and the emphasis has to be we have to run them off the line and force them to take twos because that's not their comfort zone. I mean in Charlotte with us from Boston, the DraftKings studios, the lovely DraftKings studios in Boston. Stugats. Yes.
Starting point is 00:39:41 Real quick. Yeah. Let me tell you right now. Okay. If you have not been to the DK headquarters in Boston, you are doing yourself a disservice. You have to come here. The snacks alone. It is incredible.
Starting point is 00:39:54 It's like, you know what it's like? I wanna hear about the snacks. It feels like I have two parents, one parent lives in Miami, and one lives in Boston, and I live with the one in Miami, and it's fine, and everything is easier. But you like the one in Boston better? And then I went to see the other parent in Miami, then one lives in Boston, and I live with the one in Miami, and it's fine, and everything is easier. But you like the one in Boston better? And then I went to the other parent in Boston,
Starting point is 00:40:08 and oh my God, I never wanna go back. Dad's house is stacked. Stacked, that's rich. We let you stay up late though. That's true. Talk about the snacks, I wanna hear about it. I had oatmeal. What?
Starting point is 00:40:21 Doesn't sound that exciting. No. But when you have the hot water and the pre-made thing and then you can have like oh peanut butter crackers and then there's packs of gum and then like Annie's cheddar bunnies. Terrible first snack by Chuck and Charlotte. No not a stick. Here's a whole ass pack of gum. Just take it take it and go. The fridge looks like a convenience store fridge. It's massive and they have every soft drink, every juice, and every beer and wine known to man in that fridge. And it's like, their whole thing is like, ah, you know what? Just wait
Starting point is 00:40:50 until you're done with your shift. Then you can have it. And I'm like, really? This is life? Do you guys live every day? You have video games in there. You've got a punching bag. That's why the boxing gloves are behind it. I made oatmeal with oatmeal. We have a punching bag down here. Why should I do it with water? Two oatmeal references. Do you guys know what good snacks are or what? You can't say they have great snacks and start with oatmeal.
Starting point is 00:41:14 Chris is right, Charlie. I'm sorry you can't do it. I just want to say sometimes you got to zig when they zag. That's fair. LeBron, go ahead. I have a bone to pick with Joe Mazzulla. He wasn't heard enough in his press conference last night. He was, I think part of what I think Boston has going on is that they have been so prepared for this all season to be like,
Starting point is 00:41:36 everyone is going to just be on our asses if we do make it to the finals. They've been practicing being very even keeled. Porzingis talked about how even keeled Missoula is, which you know, you see that face and it's like he's been practicing his stoicism. But I wanted Joe to be weirder. I wanted at least like one existential quote in the press conference and he didn't give us any. Yeah, because he's been on fire all week long. Just with these amazing weird ass quotes about they didn't change the light bulbs and aren't we all villains to somebody and all that stuff. And the journey only ends when you die.
Starting point is 00:42:12 Like we're waiting for, Hey, okay. Here, what's weird old Joe going to say now after game one. And it was just kind of bad. I mean, I do have a question about the head coaching matchup. Does this feel more like Budenholzer versus Monte Williams or Pop versus Spoh somewhere in the middle? I know Missoula is like, apparently, the greatest head coach ever, according to winning percentage.
Starting point is 00:42:31 It can't feel like Pop versus Spoh. We can not, I'm sorry. I think you can have serious questions about both these head coaches in this NBA finals and it may not matter, especially for Boston. I think, no, I think it matters. It absolutely matters. and the coaching decisions are going to show themselves the adjustments are going to show those are the days a
Starting point is 00:42:49 kid has done a great job during the playoffs uh... and people don't want to give him credit for it because they're stuck on milwaukee jason kid who wasn't as great as making adjustments but the weird thing i i talked about this other day with antonio daniel's on serious xm uh... you would believe it anthony edwards right The other thing, Mike, I talked about this other day with Antonio Daniels on SiriusXM. When we look at Anthony Edwards, right, and he plays and he's young and he doesn't play as great in the Dallas series, nobody says, well, that's who he's going to be for the
Starting point is 00:43:13 rest of his career. We all accept that he's going to grow and get better as he learns and this experience is going to help them. We don't give that same grace to coaches. And I think Jason Kidd has had a lot of experience from going to Brooklyn, coaching vets who basically looked at him as a peer, to going to Milwaukee and building up a young team, to being an assistant coach with the Lakers and winning a title. Now this Dallas team, they're all different experiences and I think he's a better coach than he's been in the past and it's been shown throughout these playoffs.
Starting point is 00:43:40 Speaking of experiences, if you're in the Boston area, you can have an experience by opening up the Game Time app and saying, Yeah, Kyrie, I agree. That barn wasn't loud enough. I'm gonna be the change that I seek by downloading the Game Time app, creating an account, using the code Dan. For $20 off my first purchase, I get to see what my seat looks like right there on the app. And if by whatever reason I find a better price out there on the market, game time will match you 110%. The lowest price guaranteed sterling customer service.
Starting point is 00:44:11 Terms apply, last minute tickets, lowest price guaranteed. That is promo code D-A-N. Charlotte, Charlotte, I mean, I want to play a video here of Stephen A walking in last night, and I want you to tell me, either of you. Wait, did they do that again? Oh, I mean, I don't know who did it. I didn't see it.
Starting point is 00:44:25 ESPN put it out. First time with a bodyguard. We're gonna put it up for you guys here. First has been bothered by this, the entire show. I'm not bothered, I just don't know what it is, and I ask you two, have you ever been- It's confidence. Have you ever been this cool?
Starting point is 00:44:37 I don't know, is that? Look at that. Is that this cool? Look at me right now. What do you have ever been this cool? Is there something going on with his knee knee because he very much has a limp. From the front it looks like swag. And then you get right here though and it just looks like a limp.
Starting point is 00:44:52 No, it's the side wave where he does the unbutton and then a little low wave off to the side. But he looks like he's... Look, I'll respect to C.B.N.A. Looks like he's trying pretty hard. Very hard. I don't like it. How like he's trying pretty hard. Very hard. How do we feel about the outfit? Be careful. It looks great. I like lavender.
Starting point is 00:45:12 No, it's a great look. It's a great neutral look. Because that's the hard thing when you go to these games. You don't want a dress in colors that indicate if they favor one side or another. Shaq showed up in a green suit. I thought that was very on the nose. Obviously he's a former Celtic. He ended his career here in Boston.
Starting point is 00:45:26 Former Celtic? Yeah. And I know he is, but come on. Yeah, white was not very flattering. Don't get me started on these uniforms. I'm like, I'm squinting to see the Jersey numbers on Dallas. Mavericks.
Starting point is 00:45:38 Apparently- Mavericks jerseys are a little tough. The Celtics are not gonna wear green if this is a sweep. Like they're just wearing white and black. Like, come on, how do we have an NBA finals series that features the The Celtics are not going to wear green if this is a sweep. Like they're just wearing white and black. Like come on, how do we have an NBA finals series that features the Boston Celtics and they don't wear green in the series potentially? This is just all, it's too much. You got yourself started. This goes back to my rant about like these, all these alternate jerseys they've gone too far. We need to go back to home white, road color and then every once in a while you want to throw me a throwback or an alternate
Starting point is 00:46:06 That's fine, but this thing where every single night everyone's wearing a different Jersey enough You know what it is Stephen Stephen a needed to toss in one smile like one little what just one maybe a smirk That's all friend. Oh, he's not even thinking about how he comes across no no no no no that's not the Stephen a way man You got you got to walk in. You have to command the presence. That's why he's got the security guard who's wider than he is taller, because you have to command the presence. Game face.
Starting point is 00:46:32 You walk in that building, everybody knows, oh, it can start now. I'm here. I imagine that he already had walked in, and the social people for ESPN was like, can you go do that again? And he's just like, I got you. Put it on the pole.
Starting point is 00:46:43 Does Stephen Hay think the final start when he gets there I mean because Jim Rome said Super Bowl week doesn't start until I get there and he was right I laughed at him at the time, but Jim Rome it turned out that he was right when Jim Rome showed up That's what Super Bowl week started. What do you guys make of what the Lakers are doing with Dan Hurley? He just switched to Southpaw. I did. Jim Rowe. That's how he does it.
Starting point is 00:47:10 The Danny Hurley stuff is, I don't know, I feel like he is one coach who actually could maybe turn down the Lakers head coaching job. I feel like the way he's been at Connecticut and also he was like, we just got closer to New Jersey for my wife Like she doesn't want to move and I feel like he has such a good thing going there And he's pretty sure of himself. He's like just catch me on the next go-round if I want it You know, the funny thing is I said this on oddball yesterday in 2004 the Lakers interviewed Mike Shashevsky and they got turned down in 2014 ten years later
Starting point is 00:47:42 They interviewed Roy Williams and they got turned down and now they, 10 years later, they interviewed Roy Williams and they got turned down. And now they're interviewing Danny Hurley and as Charlotte points out, there's a lot of reasons why Danny Hurley probably shouldn't take the job. That means we've got a 10 year kind of routine here with Lakers, Goldwool, college coaches get rejected. Yeah, and the best coach is like, you know, I think I'm just gonna stay.
Starting point is 00:48:00 I know this one has a bit more nuance to it, but in the eyes of the internet, this is essentially Woj versus Shams again. Yeah. Look there, Adrian is close with the Hurley family for sure. He wrote the book about the miracle at St. Anthony which is about Danny Hurley's dad, Bob Hurley the Hall of Fame high school coach in New Jersey and so there is a connection there, obviously. JJ Reddick, who Shams kind of pushed that story that JJ is on the cusp of being the Lakers head coach. JJ is also a guy that's obviously he works with Adrian at ESPN. So I mean, could it be that or could it just be that the Lakers haven't made a decision
Starting point is 00:48:41 and everyone's rushing to find out something that we're going to find out anyway? I mean, we talk about this all the time look if there was no Newsbreak, how would you find out from a press conference if there was no press conference? How would you find out from a press release Charlotte if there was no press release no press conference and no news break How would you find out who that coach of Lakers is? Probably when they're on the sideline of a Laker game. This isn't news It's just you guys are impatient just Just wait for them to do the hiring. Sharla, I understand what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:49:06 I'm going to be the head coach of the Lakers. I understand what you're saying with Dan Hurley, and he has a lot of reasons to stay at UConn, back-to-back national championships, making a lot of money, East Coast guy. I get all of it. There are also a lot of reasons to take the Lakers' job. Yes.
Starting point is 00:49:24 I think, though, something that is getting overlooked a little bit in this conversation about the Lakers head coaching job, I think if you look at that roster obviously they can change things. That is not a roster that I think compared to what else is in the NBA right now can win a championship right now as it is. And I think that it's hard for any coach if they don't have the pieces they need or the pieces that we have seen not work are there. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:49:53 I feel like you're getting, in LeBron's last season, or not last season, in LeBron's. Last season. One of LeBron's last seasons, oh my God, what a Freudian slip. That was awful. Given the length of his career, this is one of his last seasons,
Starting point is 00:50:07 I think the pressure's really high to win a championship, and I wonder if a coach coming in feels like they're just gonna get pushed off a cliff if they don't do it. And by the way, Danny Hurley coaches a very specific style. He's not friendly, cuddly, player's coach. He's pretty demanding, and that shit works on a college level,
Starting point is 00:50:24 but you come into the NBA, and you don't have the bona fides to pull that shit off like LeBron's not gonna listen to that like who are you what have you done for me LeBron James to be coached by you like this I wouldn't I barely let Spoh do that to me I'm gonna let you do it college boy right but LeBron's choosing the coach I mean is he he said he's not he says the coach. I mean. Is he? He said he's not. He says he is nothing. I mean, guys, come on. You're buying that. He's chosen every coach he's ever played for.
Starting point is 00:50:48 Why would he lie? What are you talking about? Except for Spoke. Except for Spoke. That's the only coach. The most success he's ever had. Yeah, but when you say, you're Danny Hurley, and you say, hey, I want to coach in the NBA.
Starting point is 00:50:58 I want to do it at the highest level. And he has said that many, many times. And the first job being the Lakers job, you go take that job with 100 million dollars attached to it. Well, now if you say 100 million dollars now, now we're talking about something different. Everybody has a price. I'll do that **** right now. What you talking about? 100 million dollars? Damn. That's what Woj is reporting. Just sign the paper.
Starting point is 00:51:18 100 million dollars. Sign me up. I'll go lose and then I'll go back to college. I mean, I'm in. Thank you guys. Enjoy the weekend in Boston Thanks, too Backstreet's back.
