Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Giraffe King's Network. Slay the holidays with Real Canadian Superstores PC Holiday Insiders Report. Serve Appies under $16, like PC Pellenta Fries, PC Cranberry, Bree Pace Tribites, and PC Eggplant Parmesan is for liatelle. Wow, only at your super holiday store. Welcome to the big suite presented by DraftKings. Why are you listening to this show? The podcast that seems very similar to the other Dan Levitard podcast. I'm sorry, I'm not going to apologize for that.
Starting point is 00:00:40 In fact, the only difference seems to be this imaging. I have been tempted in restaurants just walking past tables to grab somebody's fries that if they're just there. That hasn't happened to you guys. I've done it. And now here's the marching man to nowhere, that face and the habitual liar.
Starting point is 00:00:58 Billy, what did Stu Gotz promise, Captain Lee? So Captain Lee, for those who are unaware, is a yacht captain from the show below deck from Bravo and he was on It's supposed to be godless football. I turned into stupidity because we went like 40 good minutes with him last week of the week before great Yes, yeah, he was a great guest a little bit of a wild card But he was a great guest and two gots promised him because we started talking somehow it led to who are the most famous people that you all You know typical things and then somehow we Ended up talking about Jimmy Johnson and captains like oh, I would love to meet Jimmy Johnson
Starting point is 00:01:29 He's always been a big sports Fisher guy like that seems exciting. Oh, he has this great fishing tournament every year Like it'd be so cool to be part of it. It's like I can get you in buddy one call on all do it I'm gonna call him right now after this. Don't worry. I'm gonna call him. I'm gonna get you in on this I'm just terrified to make the call Well, but so he he promised captain lee who's like you know a lovely man but he's in his you know later stages seventy eighty years old you're about to claim that he deceived an old man that now that stugats has now descended into deceiving the elderly he made him up things got chummy we
Starting point is 00:02:00 were told all this is one of my favorite podcasts i've ever been on so then stugats then starts over promising him things and I'm going to get you in that fishing tournament. And then I looked it up and like, two gots, it's in like December, like if you actually want to make this happen, you could, they're probably sending out the invites now. If not, they're finalizing who's going to be participating. We got to move, Dan. Yeah, you got to do it.
Starting point is 00:02:17 He's like, don't worry, buddy. I got this. But then like, this is two weeks ago. And I'm like, so did you ever call Jimmy Johnson? Are we going to tell this guy that you got him into the tournament? What's going on? I got asked Dan to talk to him for me. Okay.
Starting point is 00:02:29 By the way, I don't think Jimmy Johnson at age 80 is going to be too worried about talking to a captain who's in his seventies. I think that's going to be fine with Jimmy. He loves talking to people younger than him. Well, no, I think that they would get along. I think they would get along. I think it's more like you're promising someone something that they're getting excited for potentially happening that's not. Greg seems willing to reach out to Jimmy on our behalf. Oh, thank you, Greg. Of course. That's amazing.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Jimmy and I are tight. I mean, come on. I've never, you know, never been invited into his back room. He always meets me at the. You're a big chill guy. That's right. But I'm a big chill guy. Right. Right. Right. What, what, how how do you define type you and Jimmy are tight? Oh, I guess we're not because I've never stayed in his cottage in the back. But could you are you now doing what Stugatz does? Are you Captain Lee's to got by saying you're gonna do something that you're not actually gonna do?
Starting point is 00:03:19 Right. He's requesting a favor I will not do. I am not I am not requesting me. You should be Captain Lee dead. You'd love him. I don't think it's do it. I will not do I am not I am not requesting me captain lead then you'd love them I don't think it's imposing on Jimmy Johnson the Texan and say hey What's his name from whatever that show is? Would love to be from Well stew got from the Levitard show, you know is talking to captain Lee or whatever his name is From from this and that show, your pitches.
Starting point is 00:03:45 You're doing great. I don't know if I'm going to show Captain Lee's dream is to be out on a fishing boat with you. He'd like to get into your tournament. Can we can we make it happen? Can I get the two of you on a phone together? Woods to God. Nothing wrong with that.
Starting point is 00:03:57 But why are you involved now? Well, I have to be able to see it through. I mean, yeah, yeah, you had to do that. Jimmy, I like the invite. Respect to the captain. I like through. Yeah, yeah, you ought to do that. Jimmy, you'll like the invite. Respect to the captain. You'll like that. He'll appreciate it. I don't agree with anything that you just said.
Starting point is 00:04:10 And journalistically, you probably shouldn't be asking favors of someone that would put you in their debt, especially favors not even on behalf of Stugat, but on behalf of Captain Lee, whose name you can't even... Captain Lee. Yeah. Jimmy might be more interested in having Captain Morgan on, but that's a whole different story. Let's hold on a second.
Starting point is 00:04:36 But when Jimmy was pimping his book, I was happy to have him on my podcast to talk about it. So, you know, one hand was... Jimmy owes him, yeah. Right. You know, one hand washes the other. For those of you not watching on YouTube, he was just pantomiming at the height of entertainment, the washing of the hands. Bringing my hands and soap lava, lava soap.
Starting point is 00:04:58 He is in rare form right now as we just, basically on Tuesdays, broadcast old man Delirium. So you call it Jimmy or what? I will not be calling Jimmy. I've said no to you five times already. Like what's unclear? You're gonna crush Captain Lee? You said during the break, you said to Billy, Dan's still considering it.
Starting point is 00:05:18 I don't know how many different ways I could tell you to bleep off. He just texted me and Dan's in. I guess I bleep off. He just texted me and Dan Zin. I guess it bleep off. I want to take a look at the Miami Heat Culture Court for the mid-season tournament or the in-season tournament. So the in-season tournament has that garish red court that doesn't look great on television and all the, in the Indiana Peasers have a terrible one but for their city edition jerseys the much maligned heat culture jerseys where they just kind of lazily put the heat on
Starting point is 00:05:55 top of the word culture they have especially designed cord as they've done for the vice city editions in years previous this has the message, the mantra of Miami Heat culture in the paint. And it says, hardest working, best condition, most professional, unselfish, toughest, meanest, nastiest team in the NBA. I noticed something's missing from that, by the way. It used to be most hated. It's longer, yeah, there's this... It took out most hated.
Starting point is 00:06:24 Curious. I think I understand why they took out most hated. But left longer. Yeah. There's this. They took out most hated. Curious. I think I understand why they took out most hated. But left nastiest. But most hated, I mean, I guess in a current climate where you're seeing actual hate run rampet, they're probably like, let's not put that in there. It's not worth it. But it did shorten up the message. Are they any of those things, really?
Starting point is 00:06:41 I feel like every team, no. They're not nasty. Now this is a fair question. I'm just saying, I think, any of you, any of you, any of you, any of you, any of those things really i feel like every team no i don't have nasty now this is a fair question i think i think any of the nb any team in the nba would look at that and say yeah we're all those things the wizards would be like now with the exception of watching that but most of them would okay so you hardest working so you quibble you want to buy that you quibble with the court well that that bring back the single court.
Starting point is 00:07:06 I did it back in my day on this a couple of weeks ago on this very air. At court, at 20. Some people did point out that in terms of chef's kiss, the back in my day being against the throwback uniform, to go back in my day and it just doesn't make any sense to be against nostalgia. I know. It was against throwback uniforms, and it just doesn't make any sense to be against nostalgia.
Starting point is 00:07:25 It was against throwback uniforms, but also new uniforms. But you would think that someone who was about the back in my day brand would like to go back to a day where you would go get a thing. You would just go get a thing. It went over your head. You missed all of that.
Starting point is 00:07:41 And thankfully, he's got another back in my day on this, to say that maybe you could do, yeah. Yeah. Well, he's got another back in my day on this to say that maybe you do, yeah. Right. Well, it's a load management week. Oh, I don't have a back in my day today, but next week it's back. I came up with a beautiful idea that is in the incubator right now. So we hope to bring that baby cook birth that a week from today. Greg Cody, because we are broadcasting what I believe to be, I have said before, we are walking him through career hospice.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Jeez. That's just, that's horse man. It's just what it is. It's a little harsh. It's got to be close to the end. Yes? I'm not a, what are we on? Why?
Starting point is 00:08:24 The career wise. like he's passed retirement Relax in 90s that's not for you to decide that's a Greg Cody to decide It's not for a book. He's in the middle of a reinvention. Yes Okay, that's why we're doing load management right now. Maybe there are miracles in hospice on occasion I'm willing to allow that his career will be resurrected. He will throw off the machine that he'll chase off the priest administering last rights and he'll be mad dog. He will resurrect his career and be more successful in his 70s than he was any time before that. Yeah, it's happened that way. I'm more successful
Starting point is 00:09:02 in my 60s than I was in my 50s. I had a boy. I'm more successful in my 60s than I was in my 50s. I'm more successful in my 30s than I was in my 10s. But I got very little done when I was like 12 years old. I wasn't doing anything in adulthood, I've gradually ramped it up. But because we are broadcasting what I believe to be something close ostensibly allegedly to the end of his career one would imagine being as gentle as possible you've noticed perhaps that the takes and stamina have sort of fallen apart might left here disgusted like legitimately disgusted two months ago looking at him spinning in your messy take is the worst thing I've ever heard you said I had a bad messy take
Starting point is 00:09:41 I think I am backpacked thing no I think I am- Is it the backpack thing? No, I think I am- That was Steph Curry. That was Steph Curry. God, I hated that one. I think I am blind that messy should have prioritized and enter Miami regular season match over in Argentina, World Cup qualifier. I may have implied that without really saying it.
Starting point is 00:09:58 And that was sort of a half-baked take. I'm going to admit that. See, that's the thing about me that people really enjoy. When I make a mistake, I admit it. I'm not one of these full of bluster and I'll go to the grave with a mistake, I make no. If I have a bad messy take, I'm gonna own it.
Starting point is 00:10:14 I'm gonna wear it on my back like a backpack, carry it around for a month, and then let it go and discard it, and then I'm free. I would argue that me, your wife and your son, would say that you are one of the most stubborn people about admitting that you're wrong, that any of us have ever met, but you're very good at saluting yourself
Starting point is 00:10:40 the one time that you do admit. What was obvious to all, which is is it was a truly horrendous take, but he's got more of those. He believes that intermiaming is gouging its fans by giving a, you know, the man of the year, player of the year, the eighth one that messy as one by charging fans to go to a ceremony in which he gets this trophy really remarkable that he's won that eight times. It's crazy. He can retire and be deceased and they'll continue to give him Belondi Ores. I never use the word gouge and I never would. Gouge is a pejorative. That's got all
Starting point is 00:11:23 kind of negative connotations what i think is that it would be a nice gesture on the part of intermiami if they made that uh... a free event to thank the fans for their support the same fans who are going to be gouged for uh... a ticket increase next year you would use that word right i would use it i would use it in terms of their price hike plan for next year. I agree with you by the way. I think it would have been a nice
Starting point is 00:11:49 gesture if they had a free night to celebrate messy with an exhibition game against NYC. But they didn't and they have every right to charge money for that evening. I'm saying it would have been a nice gesture if they let the fans in. The marketing on it is pretty smart. It's not, hey, it's not just this extra friendly that's trying to collect dollars. Right. The reason this whole thing came about was, Inter Miami was supposed to be presently on a tour in China. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:16 And a couple of days before, they were set to play two friendlies over in China. The promoter canceled the tour on them, citing unforeseen circumstances in China. So Inter Miami got with another team that missed the playoffs and decided, we'll have a friendly. Since that decision was made, Messi goes to win his eighth ball and door and it becomes Noche Door.
Starting point is 00:12:37 A wonderful celebration of Leo Messi. Come watch the final game of the season, even though this is a totally made up friendly with no real stakes and it's just for a lot of money and I mean for they they did the big thing and the best player in the world you can say that and not be wrong and it's not a matter of opinion it's a matter of fact because he won the award to prove it is playing for Inter Miami and it's justified in their eyes all these price hikes which turn me off to the product.
Starting point is 00:13:06 I will still support the club, but I canceled my season tickets on it. Oh, I can't, I'm not going back. It has the most expensive, it's the most expensive soccer ticket on the planet. It doesn't make any sense. They make it like impossible to make money now. The McGrap has all the McDee's flavor you crave.
Starting point is 00:13:22 McGrap the flavor with the crunch of fresh veggies, the tenderness of crispy or grilled seasoned chicken, and delicious sauce to bring it all together. Get the best of the zest with the zesty live McGrap or enjoy sweet with a touch of heat in the sweet chili McGrap or go big on bacon with the savory and satisfying classic chicken and bacon. Try the McGrap in three big flavors today, only at McDonald's.
Starting point is 00:13:48 Don Lebertard, Greg Cody of the Miami Herald, who is a source of constant frustration and entitlement and narcissism. This is what he says. This is either the last back in my day as a regular series, or the first of a new phase in which back in my days are occasional not every week. So he has just announced officially his laziness. Still gots. I want to make him an occasional series. I am once a week. But no, I think more occasional.
Starting point is 00:14:18 I think every time you don't have a back in my day, you can't do the show. I think we should. Okay. Okay. That's fine because I have a contract, so if you want to pay me for not doing the show. That's fine, we can pay him for doing nothing. We already do. That's a good one. That's a good one. I got no retort for that. VCs, they done lebertar show with their stugats.
Starting point is 00:14:37 A couple of bonus local things, Roy. We didn't get to your after the game with Roy that he does when? When do you do that? The next one will be on Friday. After the game is when you do that. Featuring Roy. Featuring Roy, we didn't get to the Panthers game last night and Mike Ryan is here to proclaim that the University of Miami basketball team, men's basketball team is going to win the
Starting point is 00:15:03 championship. Blue blood. He likes how they look. He's very excited about how they look. But Roy, after the game, last night you did an after the game, correct? No. Because it's on the road. You only do after the game. No, no at home. Well, I'm honest. I get fine. After some games. Yeah, after some games. That's just like games. Not every game though. Well, we know when or do the just yeah, the next one will be on Friday, right? Okay Why not after wins though? I mean well, you don't know that going in right that's fair How did you choose to sit this one out? I'm a partner David Druck can only attend on Fridays
Starting point is 00:15:42 So then the show will only be Fridays after games after the game no this friday is when be Fridays after the game. After the game on this friday is when he said after the game on Thursday. The pins are the schedule. You should consider that as the name after the game on Thursday. Depending on the day. You can only do Fridays. But he can only do this. Just this week.
Starting point is 00:15:59 What about next week? Can we get a month out so we just kind of know what to expect? Is this all the time? No, this is all the time. Yeah, this is the entire working title and UMG win over NJIT convinced you they're gonna be national champions. I was the growth at the individual players made in terms of what baby food does now baby food put on about 15 pounds of pure muscle has one of the strongest players in the
Starting point is 00:16:21 history of that program a program that had Jimmy Graham playing basketball he's shooting threes now looks like like a natural at it. Has a nice feathery touch from the outside. Wougas made jumps. Nigel Pack is a second year in this system. You give Jim Malar and Aga an okay point guard. He's making the tournament. You give him a former all big 12 point guard, a second year in that system. They're going to be seller. I'm very excited about Miami men's hoops bluebloods are back. That closes all of our local meanderings. I want to take up a complaint that we've got here because someone heard yesterday
Starting point is 00:16:57 show and writes in why is Dan so against due process? Jim Harba is a public employee. There are procedures governments must follow regarding discipline of public employees I don't think I was out here advocating for Get Jim Harba out of here before due process. I was just mildly surprised that before all of the information is in the president of Michigan has opted to go all in on we're protecting the money, we're protecting the cheater, we're protecting our employee, we're protecting this guy as what trickles out again and again seems like perhaps he shouldn't be protected because
Starting point is 00:17:38 you've got the unusual circumstance to guys and I know we can all think that all the other coaches in the conference are trying to get the competitive advantage of nuking his school. And that can be part of their agenda. And they can also be truly appalled by how brazen all of this cheating was. And Connor Stallion still, it's confusing to me how it is that he was embedded on the central Michigan sideline without anyone noticing how close he was to other people. Even understanding that a sideline can have a lot of people on it. I'm telling you, Stu got based on just trying to get Lucy's credentials every week, that it's fairly seriously regulated who could be that close to the players
Starting point is 00:18:26 and who could be that close to the other coaches. And I don't know exactly why Central Michigan is skating on the general incompetence of we had someone in a disguise on our sidelines, someone credentialed that. He didn't jump over a fence. Right, we're sending Lucy to big games though at big schools, bedlums, stuff like that. Like, Dan, I feel like if I show up to a fence. Right, we're sending Lucy to big games though at big schools, bed loom, stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:18:46 Dan, I feel like if I show up to a central Michigan game, I could get down to the sidelines. I do. Yeah, without a credential. I do. How about being there? Send me there. How about, how about this deal?
Starting point is 00:18:58 Send you there, deal. Can you go this weekend to get? I can't. Okay, but next week, get them in. It's absolutely mind- boggling to think that a guy dressed like a Miami Dolphins coach but not a Miami Dolphins coach could be on the sideline during a game and nobody's going
Starting point is 00:19:16 hey who's that guy it it's unheard of in here and you guys talk it out look it doesn't seem like it was a secret uh... what conno Connor Salians was doing. Perhaps central Michigan turned to Connor Salians. I'm just saying, like, you can't, you can't ignore that possibility given all the offenses here and how difficult it might be to get that specific position on the sideline. And Jim Mcawain said all the right things in his press conference, but there is a scenario
Starting point is 00:19:46 here where Connor Salinas might have been there to help out Central Michigan too. You can't rule that out. The advancement on the story since last night was a big 10 cent Michigan a notice of possible disciplinary action. Everyone seems to think this is headed toward the big 10 handing Jim Harball a suspension down just as their schedule schedules about to get serious. Yeah, but that's getting off easy. I mean, if Jim Harbaugh is suspended for two games, compared to what the punishment could be, I mean, worst case scenario, they're disqualified
Starting point is 00:20:17 from the college football playoff. It's something on the field punishment. Guys, when you consider the year that Michigan has had, keep in mind, this would be Jim Harbaugh's second suspension of the season. When you consider the investigations with computer crimes and all that, and now this, at what point do you invoke lack of institutional control? Because whatever is happening at Michigan does seem to be a little out of control. No, he was in control of all of it. He just says that you're not,
Starting point is 00:20:48 so you don't get in trouble for it. Seems very much like he had control of the situation. We're not giving credit to the proper person here. Connor Stallions is amazing at what he does. Really good. If other teams are being like, buddy, come over here, do this for us. How does he steal the signs for every game?
Starting point is 00:21:03 How does he do it? It's incredible. He should be hired already by another school, right? The NFL. The Patriots. I want to ask Billy and Stugant something about what's happening with Chris Sims on God bless football because I see a lot of this. That was a Jimmy update. I see a lot of this every week. There will be no update on that. The conversation is closed. We'll get them from Greg then. I get a lot of this every week, and I think Chris Sims is exceptional, but also I think people get unreasonably mad
Starting point is 00:21:35 about football takes, and then whether it's Arlovsky or Chris Sims, if the takes are particularly strong, what ends up happening is their careers get criticized and their credibility gets debunked by what their playing careers were because Chris Simms and Orlovsky weren't great NFL quarterbacks. I don't like where this is going. No, just I'm asking you. What is happening here that I get a tweet that says can't wait until Chris Simms is unemployed
Starting point is 00:22:02 giving his awful takes to his family members who can't stand him either. That Chris Sims lands wrong on people. Is it because of the strength of his opinions? Because he has very strong opinions, but they're usually very informed opinions like he's not. He told us, you know, three or four weeks ago, three or four weeks ago that CJ Straub was the best rookie quarterback he's ever seen. He told us the Ravens were the best team
Starting point is 00:22:27 in the NFL a couple of weeks ago, but people get mad at Chris Sims. I think locally it has something to do with two in the dolphins. No, definitely look at me. I'm not talking about locally though. I'm talking about what is happening with God bless, football, Chris Sims and his opinions
Starting point is 00:22:40 and why Chris Sims particularly is polarizing as one of these people that I think is better than most of the people doing that. That requires, lest you think everybody gets to be stugots and we just turn on a microphone and you get to give your opinion, what Chris Sims does requires hours and hours of meticulous research work. He doesn't arrive at his opinions just to say something to provoke people. No, he studies a lot. He watches every game back for hours and hours. Every week he comes with a notebook of handwritten notes that he's taken.
Starting point is 00:23:15 On every game. It's sports. I mean, people don't like being told that their team is not as good as they want their team to be. And you know, like when you're an analyst and you're watching film and you know what you're talking about and you know what you're looking for, you can say certain things and you can have projections on players and players don't always end up the way that you think that they're going to end up. So inevitably what happens is if
Starting point is 00:23:38 you're high on someone and they don't pan out to be as great as you think they're going to be them, people will laugh at you and say you don't know what you're talking about. But you know, ultimately it's sports. People don't like being told what they don't like to hear. But also, Billy is the one who led the charge and attacking his playing career. And so people are rallying, Billy, they are rallying behind you. You know that, they are, Billy, they're getting behind you
Starting point is 00:23:59 because Sims was mean back to you. He was. Well, so Chris, you did it, Billy. Maybe. Well, this is what happened to me. I didn. Well, so Chris, you did it, Billy. Maybe. Unintentioned. Well, this is what happened to mean. I didn't know there was a mean. I stood up for myself, Dan.
Starting point is 00:24:10 And sometimes, if a bully punches you in the face, you got a punch right back. Let that be a lesson, kids, but don't hit people at the same time. This is what happened. Is he, you know, Chris Sims is a bit of a lip on him sometimes. And he likes to kind of, he's identified me as the weakest in the bunch. So he tries to come after me a lot,
Starting point is 00:24:27 which I don't see how he could probably get that. I've always fancied myself as an alpha, but he doesn't think that's the case. So yeah, he comes after me and he was trying to make fun of me because I was wearing Marlins clothes and he's like, oh, Marlins season's already over. You're still wearing those loser things, why are you still representing the Marlins?
Starting point is 00:24:44 They're losing blah, blah. To which I retorted. You're still talking about football, and you're still wearing those loser things where you still representing the marlins. They're losing blah blah to which I Retorted you're still talking about football and you're horrible at it Lipik Chris and then I felt I felt bad immediately. There's a media regret because me attacks Well, because didn't really no you did. Oh, yeah, no I said I have to like I shouldn't have said that in part because I know I'm gonna see him at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas And last year when I saw him I realized this is a very big and strong man. He basically just grabbed me by the neck last year, just went like this and I was like, oh, I should be careful.
Starting point is 00:25:14 And then months go by and I forget that I should be careful. And I get a little sassy. It's an analyst trick to like take like the fourth or fifth team in a conference and call them your favorite. Like Acho got very famous last year, big two a guy, big dolphins guy before everyone else was there. I think that's what Sim's doing with the Ravens. He sees them as like the third or fourth team.
Starting point is 00:25:32 No, he actually is gonna be what he's always doing. I'm just saying, he's doing the thing of, let me take the team that's close and I'll say they're my team. We were invited and we didn't follow up on it to go to his house to do film study, but also he knew we weren't going to, but he's like, come on in the office, the offseason and we'll watch all this tape together I'm like, okay, when he's like, well, I don't actually want you at my house
Starting point is 00:25:50 Well, Chris Sims is though actually breaking down the tape and maybe Acho is doing this too But Acho spends his Sundays doing bars and graphs about what's the take I can have that's gonna get me noticed like it's not A lot of it's it's it's It's just what do I have to file? How hurt I meant, not coward moves. The coward moves. The ball is. The ball is, I saw the last remnants of the ball is where he comes after Lebron, comes after Lebron.

Starting point is 00:26:40 But am I to believe that high school was the only time that LeBron spoke marijuana. Your thoughts will owing. Greg Cody of the Miami Herald, he's actively playing defense against my ability to do the show because what are you laughing at?
Starting point is 00:27:58 You're just laughing at him! Honey Boo Boo is in world in controversy. It's funny to me. Sorry. Still gots. He couldn't stop laughing just looking at the picture of honey Boo Boo. That doesn't sound healthy. It's in his life. We were friends. We didn't make him laugh like that. It's how he's gonna die. Right here, just laughing and coughing. I want to die like that.
Starting point is 00:28:33 This is the Don Limita show with this two gods. Hello Rob. Red hot sets of psychones. Hello. Red hot sets of psychones. Hello. We got red hot sets of cyclones. One again. Yes. Yes, baby. Yes. I can't wait till Friday night. I'll be there. Top.
Starting point is 00:28:51 Oh, the table. Yes. Let me go Friday. At some point, we will discuss the sets of cyclones of Chris Cody and Mike Grind. They didn't want to discuss anything about them last year when they were last place and terrible. Couldn't catch the ball.
Starting point is 00:29:04 But now all of a sudden, they're running Jorge Mossford all off the court. You're not as hazelamoth the court. They are celebration events. Ray Lewis shows up and inexplicably Roger Stone. That's true man. I don't know what the hell I got was doing there. What? He was in a suit. Huh? Somebody wanted to see his nix and tattoo. That's a thing that happened in 2023. Ron McGill is with us now. We have an assortment of animal questions we always do. How would it have gone over, Ron, if last weekend,
Starting point is 00:29:31 one of your career achievements bringing out an assortment of people to fight on behalf of the zoo as a private citizen, if Billy Gill had shown up in a costume in a protest across the street and had been pro water park against the bats and and been just been out there arguing on behalf of we who doesn't love a water park. Well, I think what you're going to have is these hundreds of people might have gotten huge buckets of water and poured it all over and said, here's your water park. It's the problem with America these days. You can't have civil protest without violence.
Starting point is 00:30:08 It's a wrap against the actual election result. It wasn't violence, it was just giving them a shower. Why, when Billy showed up at one o'clock, where you would chili- What is happening, your voice? Were you just at Chili's going on? Stop eating in between. Oh my God, coffee, it's not food.
Starting point is 00:30:22 Stop ingesting, I mean. You're terrible now. You know, I was at Chili's, not as bad as theesting. I mean, you're terrible now. You know, I was actually not as my adidas adidas. How do you not hear it when that's happening? Do you not hear it when that's happening? I just have to power through it. No, no, no, no, when it starts, I'd take the
Starting point is 00:30:34 fine. Just clear here, throw it into the microphone. No, I don't want the fine. You don't have to do this. So stop eating. What do you think? I didn't have, it's not food. Where were were were were were were it. It's not food.
Starting point is 00:30:45 We're waiting for a pig. It's not food. It's coffee. Great recreation by Mike. It wasn't at home. It was a hunting car. Ron, why? You hear that and you just powered through. What do you want him to do?
Starting point is 00:31:01 I like stop. Like you don't have to say, Fendi-Lon, how the 155 of you are, Jasevi? I like stop like you don't have to say Why when Billy showed up at one o'clock Ron Were you a chillies when he was there intent on protesting and you weren't there? Well, I had I had fulfilled my obligation. I was there since eight o'clock in the morning and I had a dear friend show up that I wanted to at least give some lunch to because I understood that he had another obligation. And therefore, I wanted to go to the place that was closest to us, which was right next door there at Chili's.
Starting point is 00:31:39 I don't normally eat at Chili's, but I took it there and I felt bad because as it turned out, my friend really couldn't find anything that he wanted to eat their chiles i was told you were obligated to be there until two p.m. because i was headed down i called billy he said you weren't there i turned around one home i mean okay serious i'm sorry i missed i'm sorry i missed it too Greg do you have a question for ron ma? I do, Ron. I was starting to hear about Barani, the Sumatra Tiger. Tell the people about that story. Yeah, you know, Barani was our patriarch Sumatra Tiger.
Starting point is 00:32:17 He was almost 16 years old. The last week or so, he really started demonstrating some very abnormal behavior. He was losing his appetite. He wasn't really drinking. He seemed to be dehydrating. We immobilized them to do a thorough workup on him, see what's going on. The thing with wild animals is that they don't really show signs of being sick, unfortunately, until the sickness is way too progressed.
Starting point is 00:32:42 We immobilized Barani. We bought him to the hospital. We did a total workups, ultrasounds, you know, endoscopies, blood work, everything. And when all the tests came back, unfortunately, it showed that he had advanced cancer of the spleen. And that was, unfortunately, at his age,
Starting point is 00:32:58 an untreeable disease, he, you know, there was nothing that we could do other than give him the death and dignity that he'd lived his life as. So he was humanly euthanized, so he wouldn't have to go through what would be excruciating pain and suffering at the outcome of that disease. So it was a very sad moment for us, but having said that, you know, tigers in the wild usually live only about 12 years, 12 to 14 years. The fact that he was almost 16 is pretty good testimony.
Starting point is 00:33:26 And he had a good life here. He's sired to offspring previously, a male named Sato, a female named Adari. Sumatra Tiger is one of the rarest tigers in the world. They're believed less than 500 of them left in the wild. They are the smallest of all the subspecies of tigers. And I'll have a very, very special announcement to make regarding Barani's legacy that I will
Starting point is 00:33:49 say first on this show, when the opportunity arises. But it's very uplifting news. If you want to talk about, you know, trying to make lemonade out of the lemon here, it's really, it's a testimony to what we call the circle of life. I want to explain to the audience because of the subject matter that we were just covering why it is I was laughing while Ron McGill said advanced cancer of the spleen
Starting point is 00:34:13 and was talking about an animal that he developed a real emotional attachment to and he makes substantive attachment to some of these animals. You were laughing too. Well, I was laughing at something in particular. I don't know. I was not laughing about what he was talking about. What I was laughing about is that I saw
Starting point is 00:34:30 spread throughout the shipping container, them clearly playing the sound of me choking on my own coffee. And so I was just laughing at the joy they were getting from what I imagine this sounds like. Why, when Billy showed up at one o'clock where you would chilly happen to your voice. Why?
Starting point is 00:34:49 It sounds like. Why when Billy showed up at one o'clock where you would chilly happen to your voice. Why when Billy showed up at one o'clock where you would chilly happen to your voice. One o'clock. Usually, Flem, like, comes and goes. Like, that is just like covering everywhere.
Starting point is 00:35:08 Why, when Billy showed up at one o'clock, where you would surely... What is it happening to your voice? It's a layer. I can't even tell the difference between you and Mike there. Mike did a really good job of reproducing that. One o'clock. One o'clock.
Starting point is 00:35:20 That's good. That's good. That's what Harry Gary do it. One o'clock. One o'clock. One o'clock. One o'clock. It feels like someone is holding me down by the throat as I'm trying to talk. Everyone close your eyes and imagine that they're one o'clock.
Starting point is 00:35:38 Why when Billy showed up at one o'clock, where you was supposed to be a blus? It also has a hint, I believe, of some Ethel Merman. Why? When Billy showed up at one o'clock, where you would surely happen to your voice. Ethel. Mark. Who's Ethel Merman?
Starting point is 00:35:55 Greg's wheelhouse. Whoa. Do you not, whoa, whoa. Why, how does that not speak to you? Doesn't that sound like the beginning of an Ethel Merman? Why? When Billy showed up at what a point to them. What happened to your voice?
Starting point is 00:36:07 All right, moving on to other things. Ron, why was the protest? Why was it something that was so meaningful to you? I'll tell you why, Dan, because hundreds of people showed up in a morning where when I could woke up I watched the weather. It was drizzling outside my house and the weather said it's going to be a miserable morning. Harble rain all day long. I said to my side, I told Rita my wife, I said, we're going to be the only ones there. Nobody's going to show up. And yet hundreds of people showed up. And many of them
Starting point is 00:36:38 young people, you know, kids in high school, junior high school, even younger than that. And that was very inspiration to that was very inspiring because these care about the environment to do for kids on a sad it. Then to be out there holding signs about saving wild. So I was re to see hundreds of people to testimony to the culture that's changing around people thinking, you know
Starting point is 00:36:56 what? Environment is more important than a water park especially coming from kids I thought that was very meaningful. Nesting season for green season, I think it's a good thing to be able to get the kids to the culture that's changing about people thinking, you know what, environment is more important than a water park right now. And especially coming from kids, I thought that was very meaningful. Nesting season for green sea tunnels here in Florida
Starting point is 00:37:11 has all record 74,300 nests. Oh yeah. Yes. It'd be the previous record about 40%. When it went into this. Well, I think it's a combination of a bunch of things. A lot of stars had to align as far as currents and temperatures and things like that, but it's also just a combination of a bunch of things. A lot of stars, how to align as far as, you know, currents and temperatures and things like that.
Starting point is 00:37:27 But it's also just a combination of people being aware of protecting the beaches, people changing their lighting along the beaches. It's education. It's all of that combined. It shows that we can make a difference, guys. We really can make a difference. If we're listening or making any small changes,
Starting point is 00:37:41 it can be advantageous for wildlife. It's like we saw in the pandemic, you know, when things kind of shut down, animals started showing up in places we've never seen them before. You know, if we just do a little bit, each one of us does a little bit, we can make a big difference.
Starting point is 00:37:53 And that is reflected in these green seat turtles. I think it's just a wonderful set of news and brings some optimism when it seems like all we're here in these days is a bunch of pessimistic news. Ron, I was surprised the other day when I saw a video of an owl when someone kind of raised up their feathers to see how long owl's legs actually work. Oh, you're passing.
Starting point is 00:38:11 Are there other animals that have secretly like long extremities or things that are disguised by hair or something else? Oh, gosh, that's a good one. You know, birds, of course, classic for that. I can't really think off the top of my head. I don't really know. I mean, the thing that I'm always amazed at when you talk is not late, but tongues, animal
Starting point is 00:38:32 tongues. You'd be surprised at animals how long some of their tongues are. They're really, it's amazing that they can fit that thing in their mouth. Like which ones? A giraffe. I mean, giraffe, you know, you got a 20 inch tongue that comes out. The thing looks like a I'm not gonna appendage to comes out of its mouth. Looks like an alien, you know, look at chameleons. They're tongue can come out several times the length of their body, man. Look at ant eaters, giant dandies. There's another thing that comes out, you know, several feet, man. This thing is incredible. And it rolls up woodpeckers.
Starting point is 00:39:01 Woodpeckers have a tongue that kind of rolls up in that like a, I don't know how to explain it in their head and it comes out and it's unbelievable. Ron, talking about the owls really quick, have you seen the video of scientists testing the owls wings and how it's silent basically? They test other birds too and how they flap wings you can hear them? And the owl goes from like 30 feet or 40 feet and it's completely silent all the way to the prey. Like, why is that? It's because they have special feathers. They have adapted feathers in the front of their wings that act as silences. So it buffers the air, it closes the air out. And it's an adaptation.
Starting point is 00:39:33 Listen, it's a nocturnal feeder, right? If you're feeding and the mouse is on the ground, eating his grass, I'm the daddy going to eat the grass. If the owl's going to be flopped, the mouse is going, oh, incoming, I got to get out of here. But the owl doesn't do that. The owl's the silence, the stealth bomber of predatory birds at nighttime.
Starting point is 00:39:49 Mouse is in, it's over, it's dead. So it's fantastic. Ron, let's play some videos for you here. Let me see the first one. What is the first one of? Is it a possum? Is it a deer? What do we have?
Starting point is 00:39:59 We've got a possum here on the field, being taken off the field against its will. Oh, that's accurate. It's shrieking, yeah. freaking out there. It's deeply unhappy because absolutely that's a horrible video. Yeah, what are we doing? What are we doing there? Taking well, we're we're using an animal is what we're doing there. That's hard. Taking a possum off the field with that tool is a bad way to do it.
Starting point is 00:40:18 Yeah, what's protocol here on how to remember? I want to know I want to know the backstory behind that. Is this somebody's bet? No, no, no. No, this is a college football game and a postman running onto the field. I'm good. Why? I'm going to have a figure out how to get the post on the obliquator. That sounds like the chubby checker announcer in the head of the game.
Starting point is 00:40:36 What they've been, you should have done is they should have gone out into the field with a sky candle, a candle that when they caught the post and put them in the candle and cover the candle on a towel. So he's not exposed to all that external stimulus that is freaking them out. Okay, but maybe they did do that at a certain point, but how else do you drag a possum off a film? Listen, you don't do it at a certain point. You do it as soon as you get the possum.
Starting point is 00:40:57 You're not dragging it even two feet. Okay, I'm watching that video. They're dragging it more than that. Wrong. Sorry. But stadiums don't come with those. What about a tranquilizer dart? You're not always, you're not always a traceable expector.
Starting point is 00:41:08 I don't know. Awesome. You just put it in a skykill, cover it up with a towel to try to, you know, take away the external stimulus and get it into a safe. That's ridiculous what I see happening there. Yeah, they caught it with a catch ball and they're just dragging it off.
Starting point is 00:41:20 Get it, get it, get it, it's so lifeless. Come on guys, that's not right. Let me see the deer video deer in restaurant Let me see. I don't know whether this is Wisconsin or we going oh Hello, yeah, whoa Deers are dangerous. Yeah, yeah Yeah, I think he cleared out the restaurant all obviously Probably went through a pain of glass or something and was disoriented and now is probably more frightened than the people running out of there, but it is a buck and then that certainly
Starting point is 00:41:47 has the potential to do some damage if you get in its way. So I would certainly get out of its way. But boy, that can clear a restaurant better than a fire alarm. Ron, I don't know if you caught the manning cast yesterday, but Arnold Schwarzenegger apparently has a donkey that lives inside of his house that he feeds the donkey. Yes, very famous, that donkey. Is that recommended? No, it's not recommended, but it's Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Starting point is 00:42:06 He has the funding to provide the type of space that donkey needs. Donkeys are very, very intelligent animals, contrary to popular belief. And he's obviously got a very close bond with that animal, which I respect. I have the ultimate respect for him. He is an animal lover, and I know he's caring for that animal better than anybody possibly could. Ryan, I have a question probably off topic. Do you know Jimmy Johnson? I have met Jimmy Johnson on several occasions. All right, we'll talk off there. Come on.
Starting point is 00:42:31 Thank you. Good talking to you, sir. Good catching up with you guys. Take care. Bye.
