Welcome to the Hockey Show with David Drogk of the Hockey News, Rosie and Ethan.
My name is Roy Bellamy.

him from his head coaching duties.
We will get to that with David Pignota on the fourth period later on in the show.
If you are watching on DraftKings Network Network you can watch that interview as well as watch the rest of
the show by logging on to the Levitated Friends YouTube page clicking on the

Reacting live you people been asking for that. So this is your chance people have been asking for that
Yeah, they have I don't believe you want to see angry in real time
I was just trying to sell the watch party.
They will have hockey and alcohol.
No, they will have Roy.
Roy reacting live.
Well, no, I know you're dry,
so you're gonna get salty Roy,
Stanley Cup final hockey, and alcohol.
And me having an existential crisis.
And you also can hang out with Ethan.
Well, hopefully the deaf flamingo
will serve mocktails for me or at least we gotta figure
something out. This is not a good situation. They'll have a ginger beer. Also tonight this is gonna
be before the game the NHL is bringing back the Stanley Pup. This was a hit last year it's gonna
be on True TV tonight at 5 30 Eastern. If you are in Canada, it's going to be on Sportsnet at 6 p.m. Eastern. The national
non-profit organization called Petco Love will provide some rescue dogs in a friendly competition
between the pups. And each dog is going to represent each respective 32 teams in the
National Hockey League. So it's like the puppy bowl. Yeah, kind of like the puppy bowl, but
hockey related. It's going to be better then.
So they named the dogs. They named the dogs yet again.
And we got some examples here.
Some really good ones.
Yeah. Representing the Stanley Cup finalists for the Florida Panthers, we have Matthew Fetch-Chuck.
Look at that good boy.
That's a tough name.
That's a good boy.
That's a tough name to try to get out clean.
Yeah. I mean, that K is not helping things at all.
Representing the Edmonton Oylers, Leon Outsidle.
That dog is beautiful.
That's cheeky.
Leon Outsidle, very cheeky.
Yeah, so those are some good names.
And we have, each of us has our favorite dog,
and we're gonna get to it here.
David, what is your favorite dog
name out of the bunch for the Stanley pup? It was tough it was tough but I went with
Lick-a-Lie Yellers. I like that they got both the first and the last name of
Nick-a-Lie Yellers but look how cute that little pup is. Look at those ears.
Lick-a-Lie Yellers. Yeah it's so cute. I think that's a very Winnipeg dog. Yeah my
favorite dog out of the bunch plain and simple
doggy Hamilton
Look at that guy. I like how Roy picks the the most basic one. Yeah
Chris Cody is in the studio. He's had something. Yes in the same way
I just don't understand how we're doing a segment with dog names in this series and there's not one just named barky
Wasn't he last year? The Pan last year the Panthers was Barkov?
Okay, well there you go.
Or maybe Barkie, I don't know.
I came in here to feel better. I needed, it's like the hockey show can make me feel better.
I'm a little nervous before this game tonight and you guys are doing dog names so I'm just gonna leave.
Dude, puppies need everyone to know how to play.
Well that should show you how relaxed we are, that we're so relaxed, we're so ready for game two.
Yeah. We're so chill about the position the Panthers are in that we're going over these dogs
I mean, I'll be real. I know you guys are all gonna do the thing. I'm scared shitless
How long have you known me Chris? I know you won't admit that you're scared. So I'll do it
I'm scared. How are you feeling in the Toronto series?
I'm much better because they didn't have there's this guy named Connor McDavid and there's this other guy
Because they didn't have there's this guy named Connor McDavid. And there's this other guy
Name Austin Matthews, there's something like three other guys That's how it's funny you bring it up because when we were down to out of Tampa
I had this odd sense that we were gonna still win the series pretty easily
But this one's the Toronto stigma working in your favor this one is just it just feels like their year dorky
It feels like I said it last week. It feels like the 2014 Spurs
I think you're letting your inner South feels like Crosby what year did he get his first
one the year after you lost well this is the thing that this feels like this is
feels like Crosby that year this is the weirdest thing is that Gretzky his first
cup appearance was against the Islanders and he lost to the Islanders the next
year he came back and played the Islanders and beat the Islanders
Crosby's first cup appearance was against the Red Wings.
He came back the next, he lost to the Red Wings.
We don't have to talk about it.
It's a lover Instagram.
It's weird.
There's a lot of stars aligning here.
You know what Ethan's saying right there?
Writings on the wall boys and girls.
Fellas, ladies.
Maybe.
It's a seven game series.
It was just game one.
Let's calm down.
Let's focus on game two two let's focus on these puppies
I love you Chris Cody. I can't wait to see you tonight. Ethan go
My favorite name was Matt's Buparello
But my favorite dog has to be Tyler bark to Z from the Chicago Blackhawks
And I'm gonna tell you why he looks like Willow my favorite puppy besides Percy. I love Willow so much,. He looks like Willow, my favorite puppy, besides Percy.
I love Willow so much and he looks like Willow.
He's got the ears, he's got the dot on the eye.
He's so cute.
So Tyler Barctouzi, shout out to you.
I texted Jess last night, I'm like,
this dog looks like Willow, it's so cute.
Rosie, what's your favorite dog?
My dog is Dylan Howloway.
Howloway.
Howloway, look at the dog.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. That's a cute puppy. Howl-a-way. Howl-a-way. Howl-a-way. Look at the dog. Howl-a-way.
That's a cute puppy.
Wait, wait, wait.
I'm going to have to re- What did you say?
I don't know.
Dylan Howl-a-way.
Howl-a-way.
Howl-a-way.
Rosie, like howl at the moon.
I need the name.
Someone put it, please.
Oh, Dylan Howl-a-way.
Do you not remember the dog that you picked?
That was fine.
You just added too many howls.
Howl-a-way.
That was an S somewhere in there.
Dylan Howl-a-way. He Holloway, he's a cutie, look at his eyes
and those ears and everything
he's looking at you like
I'm here
Alright, there will be appearances from dog loving celebrities
and so many adult players
introducing the dogs as they go out to compete
for the Stanley Pup
in support of adoptions in the local cities
One of those players
will be Panthers
second line center Sam Bennett. As we mentioned before on this program, Sam Bennett has a
nonprofit called Benny's Buddies and the initiative sponsors pet adoptions through the Humane Society
of Broward County. Every goal that Bennett scores equals one adoption sponsorship. So Sam Bennett scored twice in game one.
So his playoff total goes up to 12.
He scored 11 of those goals on the road, by the way.
Wow.
So we got some records on.
New Panthers record also.
New Panthers record of 12 playoff goals
in a single playoff season.
Knocking Matthew Barkchuk or fuck, fuck,
I don't even wanna say it.
Rasmus Dalish. Yeah, I've got 12 OLIs. Knocking Matthew Barkchuk or fuck fuck. I don't even want to ask miss dolly
Yeah, I've got 12. Oh lies
Grr the Stanley pup like going through it last night
I just kept typing ones that I liked and I'm just looking I they were all good
Can we put that graphic back up there because up in the top right corners Matt's Boop arello?
That's the best name by far. Yeah, poop
Yeah, those dogs are still waiting to be rescued
that you are seeing on the screen.
So let's go over the total so far for Sam Bennett.
25 during the regular season,
one during Four Nations, and 12 in the playoffs.
That's 38 adoption sponsorships.
That initiative has really helped him have a career year
and he's gonna get a big, fat contract.
He is.
So yeah, hopefully. Hopefully it gonna get a big fat contract. He is. So yeah
hopefully. Hopefully it's a tax-free contract. Yeah hopefully and not in like
Tennessee or Texas or Nevada. No no he's happy here. Speaking of non-profit
initiatives please support my best friend Amanda. It was her birthday by the
way. Happy birthday Amanda. Yeah she has a pet rescue called Rescue Paws
and she wants to pass along that spaying
and neutering is vital to making sure
that the pet population doesn't go out of control.
Currently there are a big number of strays out on the streets,
about 37,000 strays currently on our streets right now.
So you gotta get your pet spayed and neutered.
Her efforts are to help smaller rescues save animals, to fund spaying and neutering, and
the collection of donations and providing a network of dogs trying to find a forever home.
Every dollar counts. Even $5, as little as $5 $5 so help out please by logging on to
rescue paws FL dot o RG you'll get more information there so let's help our
four-leg friends please Jeremy Spayman was one of the names that made me think
of that Tyler to furry that was a really cute dog You going dorky. Wins and fails.
What time?
There were some good ones.
Wins and fails of the week is presented by Jägermeister.
Serve it cold or don't serve it at all.
Jägermeister, damn that's cold.
For more, visit jägermeister.com, drink responsibly.
David, what is your win of the week?
My win of the week, we're going to the AHL.
The Charlotte Checkers, the Florida Panthers affiliate.
The two teams are simultaneously in their respective final.
The Checkers swept the regular season champion,
Laval Rocket, in the Eastern Conference final.
They came back in game four.
They were down two to nothing,
came back one at three to two.
Jesse Pooley-Arvey had the winning goal.
They picked him up midway.
He's been playing very well for Charlotte.
I think he's second in the team in scoring. Eight wins for Charlotte as they march through the the Eastern Conference.
So they're either gonna play Abbotsford or Texas game five of that series is tonight.
I believe the Canucks are up three to one, but just good on Charlotte good on the whole Panthers organization.
Canucks.
A lot of winning.
Canucks.
The Abbotsford Canucks.
Canucks.
Geez, Rosie, you're never going to get that right.
My winner of the week comes from the Canadian Hockey League as they crowned a new Memorial
Cup champion for the juniors.
The London Knights beat the Mendes and Hat Tigers to take the tournament that is back-to-back
Memorial Cup wins for a team out of the Ontario Hockey League.
Before that, representatives of the Quebec Major
Junior Hockey League won four in a row. And before that, before the back wins for the
OHL, there hasn't been a single Western Hockey League team to win the Memorial Cup since 2014.
Wow.
That is a long time.
I realize it had been that long.
Yeah. It was the Edmonton Oriole Kings last time, the WHL team.
They score a lot of goals out in the WHL. Yeah, apparently not in the Oriole Cup tournament.
Congratulations to the London Knights for their win. Ethan, what is your win?
My win of the week, boys, is me. What a year it's been for EPP with some of his teams,
and another one got a title on Saturday.
Paris Saint-Germain, my favorite soccer club in the world, won their first UEFA Champions League 5-0 over Inter Milan,
the biggest win in Champions League final history.
One of the great moments in my sports life, to be honest with you.
This team has been pursuing a Champions League for a long long time
No team has wanted it more and they finally got the job done Desiree Douay the star of the match
Went home celebrated in Paris. It was unbelievable scenes unbelievable
unbelievable unbelievable
539 we're arrested in the last yet not great not great with celebrations
But in the last year Vancouver of the Europe in the last year the not great, not great with celebrations, but in the last year Vancouver of the Europe
In the last year, the Panthers have won a title, the Gators have won a title, Tottenham has won a title
And now PSG has won the Champions League. The year of Ethan continues
What the f*** are you doing?
This is the hockey show
What the hell?
Why are we talking about PSG for?
Rose talks about Kailyn Clark, Rose talks about Ariana Grande.
No problem there.
That is my character.
When we think P wants to talk about something.
No, have you listened to a single episode of the hockey show when she does that?
I listen every week.
When she does that, I reprimand her as well.
So I'm reprimanding you.
That's fine.
This is not hockey. That is soccer.'m reprimanding you. That's fine. This is not hockey. That is soccer.
That's the wrong sport.
That's fine.
Salute to PSG.
Salute to Desiree Dua.
Goals and offside.
It's it's basically you know what?
My dad after the game was like, no, no more soccer.
Give me hockey.
Win of the week, Rosie Rose.
OK, my win of the week comes from our one and only Stu Gots.
I've been listening to a lot of content.
Top five things you should subscribe to. and only Stu gots. I've been listening to a lot of content.
Top five things you should subscribe to.
And number one, the hockey show.
Hey!
Yeah!
That's a quality show.
I'm telling you, Roy Dworkie.
It's a good show, man.
Who else is on that with them?
No idea.
Rose.
Oh, and Rosie, of course.
And Ethan.
And Budski.
I don't think that there's a dwork ski
I don't think it works dorky. Thanks dorky. I call him working. I don't think anyone calls him dorky
I called you do hockey all the time all the time on the show. Yeah dorky here come the Jays
We sell a shirt that says worky on it. There's a shirt selling contest going on amongst the show right now selling
Not all the numbers, but whoever sells the most shirt amongst roads.
Yeah, so if you wanna go buy your shirt,
go to the link, I don't know where.
Is that the endorsement by my shirt?
Yes, it is.
Is the Stu Dots endorsement helping us or hurting us?
He wrote a book.
Fails.
David, what's your fail of the week?
My fail of the week is smooth criminal.
No, it was after Thomas Nocik.
Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun.
Thank you.
Put the puck over the glass in overtime, led to the power
play that ended the game for Edmonton.
Jake Wallman, the Oilers defenseman, was having a lot of fun after Nocik put the puck over
the glass.
Went right up in his face, let him know about it.
That's a big fail for Nocik.
I feel for the guy, the team rallied around him.
Don't be surprised to see him a little extra motivated in game two tonight, but ugh, that's gotta be rough.
You gotta think that the second line
had to have seen that video,
and I think they're gonna probably respond.
You would think so.
And I mean, honestly, the play,
nobody's talking about it,
but it looked like Jesse Poo, or not Poolyarvy,
Vasily Pudkolzin, he got a stick right up there with Nozick
when he shot it over the glass.
It sounded like there was a little bit of maybe extra contact. I don't know. It was a little weird
The penalty was called anyway, but I don't know just lay off Thomas Nozick
You're not gonna challenge that in overtime, right? Can you challenge that? You know puck over the glass?
No, it goes off someone's stick. Yeah, I believe so puck over the glass. That's challengeable. So
I think I I believe,
they made that rule change earlier before the season.
So I believe so.
So while you look that up,
I will go to my win of the week,
the fail of the week, I'm sorry.
And this fail comes from the city of Toronto.
The Canadian National Tower,
much like the Empire State Building in New York City,
they light
the building, or at least the top of the building up, in different colors for different occasions.
For instance, the Empire State Building probably lit itself in blue and orange when the Knicks
got past the second round.
That's all that got passed, by the way.
Well, the CN Tower decided prior to game one, on the Stanley Cup final, to light itself
up in blue and orange.
Kind of like the Knicks in New York. Blue and orange for the Edmonton Allers. Apparently Toronto's cheering for
the Allers. In fact, I believe that all Canada except for Calgary is cheering for Edmonton.
That's some loser behavior out of the city of Toronto in my opinion.
Yeah, I didn't like that.
We got to laugh at Toronto once more for losing to the Panthers and now cheering for the team
that the Panthers are facing in the Stanley Cup final.
That is hilarious to me.
That's just funny.
That's loser mentality on Toronto.
The only thing that's going to make that even the icing
on the cake would be Mitch Marner taking a lot less money
to sign with Florida.
Ethan.
It's like the big shaft to Toronto.
Sorry, go ahead, Ethan.
Rose and I have a collective fail of the week.
So ladies and gentlemen, the fail of the week is Barki has a girlfriend, he's a tennis player.
So now my other lover is Lorenzo Musetti because Barki broke my heart.
That's our fail of the week.
Who is he?
What?
Seattle?
Kraken?
Lorenzo Musetti, he's a tennis player.
He's in the semifinals right now.
So we've got soccer, we've got tennis on the other side of the glass today.
Yeah, because Barkey broke my heart.
And yes, it is.
It is reviewable, by the way.
I see, I told you so.
Thank you very much.
David Pignotta, the fourth period, will join us to talk about league news in the Stanley

David Vignolte joins us from the fourth period and some major
news out of the city of Dallas.
The dollar stars have fired Peter DeBoer.
And I had to say some major news there here Peter DeBoer and I had to
say some major news there as Peter DeBoer has not made it out of a conference
final in a long long time. He's made it to the conference finals a lot. Yeah just
can't get over that hump. David what are you hearing out of the city of Dallas
right now about Peter DeBoer? Do they have anybody in mind as a
successor? And also what else is going on around the league as far as coaching carousels
are concerned?
Well guys, I mean, this kind of caught the team a little bit off guard, at least from
the management side of things. They anticipated DeBoer coming back. He's got one more year
left on his contract. And it wasn't until really the exit meetings that the players had where they
realized the change was needed. A lot of the players were upset and disappointed with the
way that DeBoer handled himself, how he addressed the team throughout the conference final. This
wasn't exclusive to you know pulling Jake Autinger and calling him out after after game five when
they were eliminated. There was more to it, certainly than that.
And that ultimately led to Jim Mill,
their GM and management making the decision to let him go.
Earlier this week, Pittsburgh and Boston
make their coaching additions.
Dan Muse with Pittsburgh, Marco Sturm with Boston.
I think you're looking at a veteran type of presence
coming in to Dallas. Somebody
to close things out. You know, if this was premeditated, as in, you know, the writing
was on the wall kind of thing, they would have had a couple of candidates in mind. Again,
this kind of caught them off guard. They're going to go through their search right now.
But I do anticipate somebody coming in that is a veteran voice that has won or has that
kind of pedigree before to come in to help this team get over
that hump.
Dave, what do you think this means, if anything, for Pete DeBoer as a potential head coach?
I would think he's not going to be on the open market very long, but this is going to
bring a lot of attention to his coaching record and his inability to get over the hump, as
Roy said.
Personally, if I'm a losing team, I'm happy to hire a guy that's got nothing
but playoff success on the big picture for his career.
But do you think this affects him
in terms of his higher ability,
or is he gonna get snatched off the open market
as soon as there's a team that needs a great coach?
I think there are teams that are considering changes
or are gonna go into the season and go,
look, if we stumble the first 10, 12 12 15 games of the season and need to make it
an adjustment we know we've got a guy who's who's been there before that can get us that can get us
there you know he's been to what five or six or lost excuse me five or six conference finals he's
been to two more losing in the Stanley Cup final twice once with New Jersey once with Vegas there's
a lot of experience that he brings to the table and that's what a lot of teams are looking for,
especially contending teams.
So it wouldn't surprise me if the turnover happens
relatively quickly for Pete DeBoer.
Doesn't sound like there's an opportunity right now,
because all the teams that made their coaching decisions
have already scooped up their guy.
But I think this is more of a scenario,
as I kind of suggested earlier.
If there's a team that stumbles out of the gate going into October, November, they've
got a pretty good guy that they can turn to if they want to make that type of decision.
You mentioned that the stars were surprised by this move, but what about the rest of the
league?
Because I feel like everybody kind of watching that game and how it unfolded and his comments after and his comments that, you know, the
exit media day kind of seemed like this was the only result here.
So is the rest of the league surprised by this?
You know, at that point, I don't think I don't think the league's really surprised.
And the stars do.
I think, you know, once they had their meetings, I think they knew we're going to have to do
something here.
This isn't going to fly.
And I think after the public media exit
interviews, that's when everybody was kind of like, OK,
they're likely making some type of change here.
And I think the rest of the league kind of understood that. I think there was surprise across the board because, look, he was there three
seasons, they made it to the conference final three times.
That's a big accomplishment.
But when you lose the room, even if you get to that point,
it makes things certainly difficult to move forward.
And again, this goes beyond the Jake Ottinger comments
and pulling him and all of that.
There's more to it.
But certainly I think once those exit meetings,
or excuse me, exit interviews took place with the media,
I think everybody kind of had a good inkling that they're probably going through some
type of change Gary Bittman and Bill Daley had their state of the league
address before game one and I just want to get into the collective bargaining
agreement and how negotiations are going David Sampson came on the
LeBatard show and gave a dire prediction about Major League
Baseball, CBA.
Are we looking at some trouble ahead or are they negotiating in good faith with each other?
When I first started to dip my toe into hockey media, it was 2003.
At that point, there was a lockout.
The season got interrupted in 0, you know, 405. From that point to just prior to
now, I've never experienced or had comments from both the NHL
and the NHLPA side that suggested there was harmony.
There's harmony right now. And there has been since Marty
Walsh kind of took over as as executive director of the NHLPA.
Every indication that I've been given is that they will come to an extension on a CBA
in the not too distant future.
You know, we had Gary Bettman on with us
after his press conference on SiriusXM
during the pregame show.
And he just reiterated, we have a great relationship,
a strong working relationship,
and they're gonna get there.
You know, he indicated, excuse me, they thought,
you know, they would get the ball rolling in January, February. It took a little bit of extra
time because of everything going on, Four Nations they had to focus on and so on and so forth. But,
you know, once they started to hammer things down in April and go from there, they've been
checking off boxes like one after another and I would be very surprised if we don't get an
announcement by next season.
Some people have told me that the goal is to get something done
here in the next month, within the next month.
So I fully expect that the new CBA to be agreed upon between
the NHL and NHLPA in the very near future.
I think Perfect World, they would have liked to have something
done now and announced it ahead of the cup final.
Obviously they didn't simply because there just, there wasn't enough time.
Could we see something around the draft later this month or around free agency?
Every, you know, what I've been told is that's, that's a possible timeline as well.
You mentioned free agency might as well dive right into it.
The big question down here, and I think in a lot of NHL circles, is what's going to
happen with Sam Bennett?
Some of the steam is starting to pick up that he is leaning towards remaining with the
Florida Panthers here.
You know, I saw one rumor that said he would only get seven and a half on the open
market, which seems insane.
And at that point, he would almost certainly stay in Florida.
Where do you think this stands right now and where do you think this ends up come July 1st?
Yeah, I'd be a little bit surprised if he leaves to be perfectly honest. I think
there's a pathway towards a relationship extending here. Similar to Sam
Reinhart. They, you know, the longer this goes, the more speculation kind of pops
up, right? Just like last summer. Maybe maybe Sam won't sign maybe he's looking for
you know x amount of dollars and this and that the other ended up sticking around I think Sam
Sam Bennett's kind of following a similar pattern here I'd be a little bit surprised
if he does hit July 1st and hit the open market I think the Panthers and him I mean obviously I
think we all know they want to keep that that marriage going the relationship going we'll see
kind of where it ends up but I can certainly see something in the eight by eight kind of vicinity here for Sam
sticking around in South Florida.
The Panthers have plenty of deals that they're going to have to make in the off season, two of
which, or at least they're going to try, I believe, is Aaron Echblad and Brad Marshawn.
What do you see going on there?
With Marsha, I think there's an opportunity for him to stay.
I know there are a lot of reports now that he might you know cash in big on
the open market I think it's more than that for him he had a choice and he made
it he wanted to go to Florida he wanted to be part of the Panthers if he was
getting moved out of Boston he didn't have a full no trade or no move but that
was his preference and and they did him right we'll see kind of where things go
here but I think if it's it's leading on one side versus the other,
I think it's leading towards sticking around.
Echblad, different story.
You know, younger, been here a while,
has an opportunity to cash in on another big contract.
I don't know if that big contract is going to happen at the Panthers.
Talking to people, and this goes back to last offseason.
And there was a point where he switched agents,
he switched representation.
He actually, after he made the decision to walk away
from his representation over at Wasserman,
he actually decided to rep himself
before bringing on Craig Arthur over at Newport Sports.
Obviously that didn't go so well,
and they've had discussions for over a year
over what an extension would look like.
If he stays with the Panthers,
it's less than the 7.5 million he's making this season.
How much less is going to dictate
whether or not he's going to stay?
I've heard the number being six from the Panthers
looking in and around that mark.
I don't think he stays. This is
a shallow free agent pool and there's an opportunity for him to cash in pretty decently on a new
deal somewhere else. If he does hit the open market. I think if of all the primary Panthers
free agents, I think the greater likelihood of somebody testing free agency that that
revolves around Aaron Eckland.
Dave, getting into the Stanley Cup final after game one, I think a lot of us were a little
surprised with Florida's lack of aggression in the second half of that game.
They switched, and I know you mentioned this in your post-game coverage, they switched
to a 1-1-3 when Edmonton switched to putting McDavid and Dry-Seidl together, which is another
issue.
But what do you think Florida's gonna do now in game two?
Because clearly that didn't work out too well for them.
And they're gonna wanna get back on the right side
of things here and not fall into that O2 hole.
Yeah, I mean, there's obviously a little bit of familiarity
with these two teams based on the San LeCob final last year.
But I think they were just testing.
I think they were just looking to see,
all right, they've changed, but to what extent?
And Florida's ability to put the pressure on is well documented
We all know what they can do and I think that's gonna be the case
Going into game two later tonight. I think they're gonna pedal to the metal this thing right out of the gate right on puck drop
And you know Matthew Kachuk mentioned it yesterday in his in his messaging with the media
they know they got to be more aggressive on the forecheck and
that needs to happen over the course of a full 60, not just
the first 45, you know of the game and switching to a more
defensive coverage. They did well for six minutes of that
third period, but there's 14 more minutes to go. I think
they hit it a little too early.
And I think they're going to adjust and learn from that.
That this is, like I said, this is going to be a more aggressive
Panthers group, I think that we see coming into, coming into the start
of this game, and I think it's going to follow a full, a full three period.
Um, you know, March versus the first couple that they did last game, they
understand how to combat them.
They just, I think didn't realize how much pushback
that the Oilers now have compared to what they faced
last season, and they're gonna adjust accordingly.
And conversely with that,
Knoblaut choosing to put McDavid and Dry Cytl together
pretty early on was a little surprising.
McDavid had like over 31 minutes of ice time,
and Dry Cytle had nearly 30.
These guys average like 23 per playoff game.
But we saw what happened last year
when they had absolutely nothing left in the tank
at the end of game seven.
So you'd have to think that's something
that Knoblot's gonna keep an eye on.
But putting them together early,
that early at least surprised me, Dave.
Yeah, yeah, that's their nuclear option, right?
Put the big boys together and see what they can do.
Not having Zach Hyman there
and putting Corey Perry on that side. like, like, Paris played over 20,
well, whatever it was, over 20 minutes.
I don't know if that's sustainable
over potentially seven games.
But when, you know, the Edmonton Oilers
need to go that route, they can.
What, what I think benefited them from,
from keeping that together throughout the duration of,
or the rest of that game anyway,
was the fact that Ryan Nugent Hopkins centering Kasperi Kaepern and Evander Kane were very, very effective in game one.
Another scenario that I don't see playing out over a full seven game potential series,
but it worked in game one. They talked about it, Knoblock talked about it, excuse me, yesterday
and said, look, if we need to go to it to it we can but it's not something we want
to do every day every game and he likes the fact that Dry Cytle and McDavid are on separate
units Dry Cytle is an underrated defensive center they like having that at their disposal
so if they need to go to it they know they can and they know it'll work but I don't
anticipate them starting you know tonight's game like that.
If they're down 3-1 again, they know they can go to that option.
There's a bit of difference between last year's final and this year's final, aside from the Zach Hyman injury, is a healthy Vanda Kane.
And his physicality apparently actually made a significant difference in Game 1.
And he actually got promoted to the first line for some
in some time in that game I think that was the most surprising thing out of
game one what was the most surprising thing to you yeah that the pushback
from from the Euler side of things and Evander Kane was part of that you know
having that physicality there he was he was relentless the entire game I mean
Corey Perry and Evander Kane were pushing around Aaron Echlad for a good
chunk of this game and trying to get under his skin.
They felt that was the right approach.
And Evander was relentless when it came to kind of getting in his face.
They have the ability to kind of combat.
We all know what the Panthers can do and we know what they can do in the crease and trying to get under Stuart Skinner's skin.
The Oilers possess similar pieces that can do that too.
And Evander Kane is a big part of that and having him healthy, having him well
rested, but I didn't play the season he was coming back from from from injury.
You've got a pretty fresh set of legs there and a fresh body and if they can
keep that going it's certainly going to be an advantage on their side or at
least something that they didn't have as as you mentioned last season, that can be a bit of a thorn for the Panthers.
So we'll see obviously how they adjust here.
I think that the aggressiveness that they're going to bring
offensively will also come in their aggressive physical nature
and I believe that that's going to be a factor in this one.
And we'll see, you know, as well from a depth side of things,
their fourth line, Florida's fourth line didn't be a factor in this one. And we'll see, you know, as well from a depth side of things, their fourth line,
Florida's fourth line didn't play a lot in game one, you know,
not having AJ Greer is a bit of a factor. He practiced yesterday. Um,
as we're doing this, I don't know if there's been any mention so far.
Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So I mean like, you know, continuing to be on the ice,
continuing to progress,
I wouldn't be shocked if he gets back in there in, in, in tonight's action.
And that would certainly be advantageous for Florida in terms of how they're going to roll
out their lines. But they know that Evander Kane is going to be a pain in the butt. And
that's what he brings to the table. And he could back it up offensively. They have to
pay attention to that.
Boots on the ground and Edmonton right now is David Pignola of the fourth period. David,
thank you for joining us. Appreciate you guys. Thank you.
Guys, I want to talk to you about something that I don't think we think about enough on a daily
basis. And that's comfort, specifically when it comes to underwear. Because let's be real,
when it's not right, you're going to feel it all day. And that's why I want to tell all of you
about Tommy John. Because the first time I put on a pair,
I knew my underwear drawer would just simply never be the same.
Tommy John just recently sent some of their product to those of us in the shipping container.
And this is my first time wearing Tommy John underwear.
I was really blown away by the comfort, by the stretch that was available within the design, by the texture.
There's a genuine comfort.
And I can tell that they put in
effort to make sure, specifically in our case with men, that we would feel comfortable.
Honestly, Tommy John's changed the game for me. I know it's going to be a good day now when I walk
out the door and I've got Tommy John on. No distractions, no adjusting, just all-day confidence.
If you haven't tried Tommy John yet, I personally think you're missing out. These are the MVP of
your underwear drawer with up to four times more stretch than other

All right, it's time to provide our analysis of game one and to provide a preview of game two of the Stanley Cup final between the Panthers and the Orlas. And to do that, we are going to turn to Rosie, who is going to provide her analysis in Spanish.
It is time for Rosa in un munito.
And that is not how you say it.
Close enough, close enough.
That's not how you say it.
That's not how you say luto.
Rose, timer starts on your first.
Shut up, Ethan, I'm talking.
Hey.
Rosa.
OK, let's go.
Hola, hijos.
And it was pure intensity.
How did it start?
Well, boom!
Lohan Duster, the Wall Wall, his name, I don't know,
scored for Edmonton in only 1.6 minutes,
starting the period with the assistance of Kaepern and Wallman.
They hadn't even studied Florida's defense.
But Florida responded with two goals from Sam Bennett and one from Brand Marchand in a power play. Thirty seconds. Whoo! Edmonton... We were 3-1. Shh! Florida.
30 seconds.
Woohoo!
Edmonton. Floria 3. In the arc, Bobrovsky 42, Skinner 29,
and many-
Stoos.
Flash stats.
Edmonton 46,
Floria 32,
Hit 51 each, brutal.
Face off,
Floria dominated 1.56%.
Time!
All right, Ethan.
I like that you got the goalie saves
as the first stat though, that was good.
Papa, do that again,
and you'll be ugly.
Give away 16.
I don't wanna go in that.
I don't wanna go in that.
Avengers 14.
Próximo juego, hoy.
Thorns came out of Rose on that one.
Esto fue un minuto con Rose.
Tu resumen semanal de poca pasión y un poco de caos.
Is that it?
Is that it?
Ay, Dios mío.
Very good, all right, very good. Unbelievable. I dios meal. Very good. All right.
Very good.
Unbelievable.
I told you I got the goalie stat.
No, but I'm scared.
I heard Jake Wallman's name in there.
I'm scared of whatever you said to me when you got mad at me for calling time.
Because I know you said some shit really bad.
Oh yeah, you should be afraid of what I said.
All right. It is time for Rosie to translate all that in English.
It is called Rose in a Minute.
Go ahead, Rosie.
Again?
Yes, in English, please go and play the music.
Okay, let's go.
What's up everybody, welcome to One Minute
with a Hockey with Rose, where I break down
everything that happened this week in NHL in English
and faster than a line change.
This week the Stanley Cup kicked off with Florida Panthers
and the Edmonton Oilers and it was a nonstop action
from every minute.
How did it start?
Boom!
Leona Dastarly scored to Edmonton just in 1-6 into the first period, assisted by Kaepern
and Jack Wallman.
The Panthers defense didn't even break a sweat yet.
Okay, but Florida fired back with two goals from Sambin and our powerplay from Bartman
Chan.
Took the lead 3-1, Edmonton said not so fast.
They tied it with a goal, Victor Adverstern, Matthias Eklom.
In overtime, Estralli did it again. Clutch powerplay to win it, assisted by who else
but McDavid. Final score, Edmonton 4, Florida 3. In goal, Bobrovsky 42 saves. Skinner 29
shots. Quit stats. Shot, Edmonton 46, Florida 32. Hit, 41. It's brutal. Phase off, Florida
dominated with 56%. Giveaways order 16, Panthers
14, Jags. Game 2 is tonight. This series is already fire. This was One Minute with Rose,
your weekly dose of Pock, passion and the right amount of chaos.
Alright, Droghky, you have a rant coming up here. This is Droghky Sounds Off. We got some, an evolution of Stanley Cup logos.
This is the patches that they put on the front of each of the finalist jerseys that they
use for the Stanley Cup final.
And you have something to say about this, Dave.
Take it away.
Si.
No me gusta es...
Wait, my bad.
Translation.
Sorry about that.
I got a little wrapped up with roses. No, I bad. Translation. Sorry about that. I got a little wrapped up with Rose.
No, I don't like it. If you want to put their graphic back up there, that would be awesome.
But if you can see on the top left there, you've got these beautiful circular logos,
the sunburst thing behind it. They looked explosive. They looked dramatic. And as you
get towards the bottom and the middle and the down, it's like, it's just the cup. It looks like they're created by AI,
they're like cartoonish.
I feel like it's been a huge downward spiral
from these beautiful Stanley Cup logos
that would be on jersey patches, they'd be on the ice,
and now we get this like computerized basura.
No me gusta, I don't like it, I don't like it at all.
I think the NHL needs to go back in the opposite direction, get back to the historical side.
I mean, they've got the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup final, for crying out loud.
But no, I don't like it at all.
And when I got to see them side by side like that, it really kind of got my blood boiling
a little bit.
Well, two things about this.
It's almost similar to what the National Football League has done to the Super Bowl.
And the World Series.
Don't forget the World Series logos. Yeah, I don't like that either. They need to go back to what the National Football League has done to their Super Bowl. And the World Series. Don't forget the World Series logos.
Yeah, I don't like that. They need to go back to what they did in the South.
It's like a universal not liking this.
Well, no. I disagree with one thing. The current patch that they're using is clean. It's really
beautiful. The only problem I have with it, however, is they're putting it on the same sign
as the captain designation,
because they have the sponsorship logos on the other hand.
So you like the Stanley Cup logos.
I like the current Stanley Cup logo.
It doesn't have Stanley Cup final on the bottom.
It's just a patch, it's just a shield.
If I didn't have to see it side by side
with the other older awesome ones,
like I guess I kinda get like,
the ones from like 2012, 2014, those looked like a cartoon. I didn't like that at all.
Yeah. But yeah I agree with you on the on the wrong side but I mean you know
the dollar, the almighty dollar, gotta get those those jersey ads on there.
Yeah that's that's really unfortunate. It doesn't look right next to the A or the C.
Pushed together and crumpled and you know, like a hoarder issue on the jersey
I just know I don't like it. Yeah, it's yes. I'm down Jim Hiller
It's his fault. Okay
That we're in this situation. Jim Hiller is the coach of the Los Angeles Kings by the way
It's his fault the Kings that have been out through that game three which gave the Oilers life since then they're 13 and 2 in the playoffs
How much more relaxed would you guys be if the Panthers didn't have to play the
Edmonton oilers, but now it's the revenge story.
It's all the consistencies we were talking about earlier with Crosby and
Mcdain and Gretzky and McDavid. And it's all these demons.
And we're sitting here stressing like crazy because it's the
Oilers. Imagine if we just had to play Pete DeBoer and the Dallas Stars or the Golden
Knights.
Yeah, but if it wasn't the Oilers, one of the other teams, they wouldn't have backed
into the final and we'd be like, oh, we're going to beat this wounded duck.
No, I'm not saying we would have played the Kings, but we would have played somebody that
isn't the Oilers, that hasn't wanted us all year.
It would just be so much more relaxed.
But now instead, here I am,
Panthers are down one nothing, and I'm freaking out.
Because that game, the Panthers had a 3-1 lead,
and it didn't last very long,
so it's really hard to say that the Panthers
like really blew a 3-1 lead,
because the Oilers came right back and made it 3-2 a minute and a half later. It was early in the second period.
They still did.
But okay, Indiana blew, excuse me, OKC blew game one. The Panthers didn't
necessarily blow game one of the finals, I thought, the other night.
It was more of a bleeding out than a throat cut, but they still blew.
The Oilers came back and took that game as well.
The Panthers were doing the thing, they kind of had them in Shut Down City early in that
third period, and then the Oilers just really took it.
By the way, buy or sell Shut Down City shirts.
You wore that last week by the way.
It's a beautiful shirt.
Buy or shut down city shirts, lebatardaf.com.
Please. Anyway, the point being, the Panthers kind of had the Oilers your Shutdown City shirts, lebatardaf.com. Please.
Anyway, the point being, the Panthers kind of had the Oilers
in Shutdown City, and then all of a sudden, Echolme scores,
and it just never felt like the Panthers were going to be
the next team to score, and after Echolme scored,
it felt like the next team to score was gonna win.
And it took everything Edmonton had.
I mean, if you're a Panther fan, I understand
it was a crushing loss, but also at the same time, you look at it and you're like, Edmonton had. I mean, if you're a Panther fan, I understand it was a crushing loss,
but also at the same time you look at it and you're like, Edmonton played about a perfect hockey
game and the Panthers played a good hockey game, not a great hockey game, and it took them basically
double overtime, right? They scored with what, 45 seconds left in the first overtime? It took them
everything just to win a one goal game in overtime.
And it was a great play by McDavid and dry sidle.
So I understand it's a pressure situation.
You're down one, nothing.
You've got another game on the road before you come back home.
But this is going to be a long series.
I think you watch that game and you say that was an incredible hockey game.
These, they're, the margins are so fine.
The margin was a no sick penalty.
That was very uncharacteristic for the Florida Panthers I think we're in for a
long series I think we're in for a great series and if you're a Panthers fan I
don't really think there's a lot of reason to panic
vamos pumas go Panthers I believe they call it vamos gatos order and some yeah
but we already talked about this and if you want to ask me why I say pumas I can
give you a whole thing about the Aztecs but not right now. Wouldn't it really be
the Panthers? Wouldn't it be vamos Pantetas? Pumas? Yeah. Is there the Panthers? No.
Technically, no I'm not gonna do it because I'm not gonna do it. You ought to ask for it. We're getting Spanish lessons today.
Technically the Panthers is just the panther. Here you say the Florida panthers, but when you translate and you put in Google, Florida
panther, of course, you're going to, it's going to appear a puma.
But if you put a puma, it's the same as the Florida panther because for us in Spanish,
Pantera is just a black one.
Okay.
Just for the record, panther, puma, mountain lion, catamount, they all are cougars.
No, they're all cougars.
They're all under the cougar umbrella.
I'm gonna put, actually, I'm gonna find.
How do you say cougar in Espanol?
But what about tigers and lions?
What family are lions and tigers in such under?
Cheetahs, because those are all cats.
Well, I'm gonna tell you something.
Yeah, a panther is a cat, correct?
Yes, it's a big cat.
Vamos gatos. It's a a big cat. Vamos gato.
It's a big gato.
Vamos gato.
So with gato you're good.
Next time I do my one minute it's just going to be in Spanish, so you better learn Spanish.
No.
Yes, I think it should be.
Keep doing them every week, we're going to have to learn something.
Maybe just see how much we learn if you keep doing it.
Game two is tonight.
Casatiki.
You can join us at the Dead Flamingo formerly known as
