Starting point is 00:00:00 There is nothing casual about football season. You can tell yourself, you're just going to watch one game, and six hours later, you're emotionally invested in a fourth quarter between two teams you don't even care about. That's what I love about this time of year. The entire weekend becomes football. Your texting friends, tracking games, second-guess and coaches, convincing yourself you saw something before everybody else did. And then Monday comes around and you get to do the whole thing again.
Starting point is 00:00:28 Those are the weekends you remember. And for me, some of the best ones have usually involved some good people, a great game, and a cold Miller Light. No matter what triumphs are in store this season, legendary game days start with Miller Light. Cold, crisp, refreshing, that clean finish. And it's part of plenty of memorable football weekends. Make Game Day legendary. Go to MillerLight.com slash Dan to find delivery options near you, or you can pick up some Miller Lite pretty much anywhere they sell beer. Game time is Miller Time.

You are listening to the Dan Levitar show, in partnership with the Drafkin Sports Act, now live in all 50 states. This episode of the Dan Levitart show is presented by Draft King Sports. Draft Kings, the crown is yours. I just saw Nick Wright and his eyes were the size of saucers. I don't know if it's because he noticed that Zaslo is dressed like Stanley Tucci from the devil wears Prada.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Is that why you look? Yeah. He looks good, right? You look resplendent, Zaz. Thanks, Nick. How's that late treat you? This could be a whole, you know, makeover. I understand that's literally what it is. But I mean more personality-wise as well.
Starting point is 00:02:25 I know on the show you sometimes play the fool. I don't know if that's who you actually are or not, because we've, never met, but this, but if you did wanted a total character shift, the vest, the rolled up sleeves, I like it a lot, buddy. You look aerodyte. I think the whole thing, maybe add some type of headwear, not because the bald is not beautiful, but it just adds another element to it. Well, you, you're using big words. I don't understand. So don't call me that again. Nick Wright is the host of FS-1's first things first. He's also got the podcast, What's right with Nick Wright and we have not talked to him.
Starting point is 00:03:04 He is the rambling, gambling man. We have not talked to him since he won a quarter of a million dollars playing poker. We have experienced some joys with Nick winning at gambling. He has shared some of his money with the shipping container. Tell us about what happened here. Oh, I didn't, you know, good, good timing, good fortune, a little good luck. I was supposed to be broadcasting and a big card game. poker go and no gamble no future and at the last minute a couple players dropped out and so we
Starting point is 00:03:39 weren't going to have a full table and so I played in a game that was probably a little bigger than I normally would play in and I was the biggest winner in the game and luckily I hadn't given the shipping container a 5% free roll so I just got to take the whole thing home with me so that was two weeks ago and then this past weekend I went back to Vegas for a My college best friend and now colleague Danny Parkins 40th birthday and you know Gave some of it back on the craps table but you know that you know there's that's kind of how it works. You know you happen your flow you you ride the wave but it was good. The New York Post was kind enough to you know write a story about it and so yeah I sent that to you because I know we're gonna talk about deep heavy stuff today so I wanted either at the beginning or the end to have a nice little light moment of you know
Starting point is 00:04:32 my lifelong, I'm finally in the black, I think now, lifelong gambling. It took a quarter of a million dollar score, but I think now if we tallied it all up from the time I was 12 years old to right now, we're actually the arrow is above, we're above water. And so that's good. It just took a quarter million dollar win to get you even. Well, you know, it's funny. I, when you guys had five percent, I won a buck 25 and I thought that, I'm like, I got to be a lifelong winner now. And then I really put pen to paper. I'm like, nope, still not there. And since then, I've actually been running pretty hot.
Starting point is 00:05:09 And I still am not sure I was a lifelong winner. But now after this, I think we're at least, you know, 15,600 bucks in the black. I think we're good. And it's only upwards from here. You know, I'm only 40, or I guess I'm 42. You know, I've got another, I've got another 40 years of gambling in me. And so, yeah, I assume with the arrow, we just keep, we keep ascending. Nick, what kind of gambling were you doing at age 12?
Starting point is 00:05:35 Down in South Florida, with my late great-grandfather betting the ponies, occasionally seeing Pete Rose. How about that? Maybe a young Greg Cody was there. I bet I was. Yeah. We'd play gin rummy in the mornings with the plastic chips that everybody had, the red, white, and blue that came in the thing that spun.
Starting point is 00:05:58 We'd play seven-card draw, which is not a real game. and then me and my grandfather would go to the horse track and hang out all day. And then I'd go back. That was my dad's mom. Then I'd go back to Kansas City where I'm from. And my dad and I would play pool and he would hustle me and pool. Because back before my dad was on, you know, an established member of society, he was a bit of a lone shark, pool hustler, craps guy. And he thought if he hustled me out of money playing pool, it would teach me not to gamble.
Starting point is 00:06:29 That was unsuccessful. I just learned his hustle and used it on my friends. So, yeah, so I mean, when I hit 18, I was probably already stuck, you know, $3,000, $4,000 just in life. And, you know, we've been digging ourselves out of that whole sense. We're finally out. I want to up $1,400 for his career. I want to talk to him about a variety of football things.
Starting point is 00:06:50 But are you following the baseball? And you know, as an old-time sports radio guy, it has been a conversation since we started in sports radio, the idea of the player leaving or not leaving to be with his wife during the birth of a first child. So Mason Miller's not available yesterday because during batting practice, he just, the league leader in saves, guy who throws 104 miles an hour has to leave. Where are you on this? Are you going to scold him for doing that?
Starting point is 00:07:22 Well, you know, when you said, especially because I mentioned Pete Rose and you're like old school radio, I was like are we doing Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame I was like let's do it open up those phone lines um but no I This is something where this is a very conventional Opinion life cycle when I was young and I did not have kids I had loud raspy angry takes of you only have so many if a pro athlete there's a lot of good that comes with it one of the small bad is when your team needs you much like if you're a general in a war sorry you know you'll see the kid will have a good life you'll you'll be there later you've got to be there for the team that that I had
Starting point is 00:08:09 that I believed that take to the marrow of my bones and then I had a child and I'm like that's outrageous obviously go be there for the birth of a child so like I think that is probably the way a lot I think there are a lot of people I don't think there's a ton of people who have kids that they're like involved in their life and love that get upset when somebody's like no I kind of want to be there for the birth of my child I think there's a lot of people who don't have kids who have stringent opinions on this now again I'm not casting aspersions because I was one of those people um and but yeah I mean it's fine go be there for the birth of your kid man it's also scary like it's like sadly we don't have to really get into this but like
Starting point is 00:08:54 It's a dangerous time, like is in, you know, for the mother as well. So you got to be there, you got to be there for everybody. Well, the argument I keep hearing on the other side of this is some form of you don't know how many chances you'll have to save a game that saves the season, but you only have one chance to have a first child. Like there's only one of those. Well, first child, yeah, but you can have a bunch of kids. I don't think we should prioritize just the first child.
Starting point is 00:09:17 A third one, you can miss. Listen, the only, the only. argument I am even given everything I said slightly open to is should you try to time it a little better I am open to that I'm not saying I feel that way but if somebody's like hey if you're doing family planning should you do a little all right before you know what's 40 weeks out is it you know the dog days of summer or is it the most critical point of our season that's a great Well, it's a great take where you say, I don't want to get involved with what's happening in the hospital room. But the bedroom nine months before, I do want to stick my nose in there.
Starting point is 00:10:00 No, yeah. I mean, I think I don't, I think that's reasonable. And I also, everything that I'm saying, I do agree with because I'm the one saying it. With that said, with that said. That's a great T-shirt. Yeah, put that on the T-Strecht. That's a great T-shirt. Everything I said, I agree with because it's me saying it.
Starting point is 00:10:22 But with that said, and understanding I'm opening myself up for some, you know, allegations of hypocrisy here, quarterback for an NFL playoff game, I think you probably got to play the game. Please, Greg, fiddle around with the thermos and more there. Go ahead. Damn thing on close. Go ahead and have a vigorous ship. No, no, yeah, yeah, of course. That's the only thing that's close to the microphone.
Starting point is 00:10:44 Not enough for me in this segment, got to be honest. It's not your face. It's just your thermos. Your chiefs, your chiefs are throwing the ball downfield. Your Chiefs look better than they have since 2022. It's not dink and dunk anymore. They have four 50-plus yard plays down the field. Mahomes had two of those.
Starting point is 00:11:03 The play action, it's real interesting to watch them see a play a brand of football that feels like Daniel Jones and the Colts with all of the play action with Jonathan Taylor, except with Mahomes and Kenneth Walker. Well, yeah, I mean, you know, as I tried to tell everyone all summer, while people went crazy over Miles Garrett, who has a bulky knee and Jalen Waddle and DJ Moore and all these guys changing teams. The single biggest acquisition, the single biggest transaction of this NFL season was the Chiefs actually adding a running back for the first time in Patrick Mahomes' entire career where he's never had a thousand yard rusher. And as I told everyone all offseason, the Chiefs were going to be in a position for the first time in Mahomes' whole career, We're leading into games, games against the Chiefs, teams were like, all right, we need to dedicate a ton of practice time into how to stop the Chiefs unrelated to Mahomes.
Starting point is 00:12:03 And what that would open up for Patrick, it is going quite literally exactly how it obviously was going to go, which is the Chiefs finally are not a one dimensional team. and what that allows for Patrick, even with a beleaguered receiving corps. Now, you're saying they look the best they've looked since 2022. I would say since 2022, they have, of course, won a Super Bowl, had another 15-win season and went to another Super Bowl. So I'm not quite ready to say they look better than the juggernaut Super Bowl champion. They've got two MVP candidates in their backfield. They've got two MVP candidates.
Starting point is 00:12:41 Well, that part's true. You know what? And I do enjoy that. I do like that quite a bit. I like, yeah, and they'll, you know, everybody was all over their skis about the Chargers who are awful. Everybody, the Broncos are fine,
Starting point is 00:12:57 but they don't have a quarterback, and they're just, and the bills are, you know, just on the Josh Allen roller coaster they've been on for seven years. I get it. He's the greatest player we've ever seen, and it's not his fault. Also, he just loves putting the game in jeopardy
Starting point is 00:13:11 at the end of the game. And the Ravens, we don't know when Lamar will be back because he hasn't always been the most forthcoming about how he's dealing with injury. So obviously the chiefs are going to go to the Super Bowl again. Obviously in the Super Bowl, they're going to be playing an NFC juggernaut, probably be down 10 at halftime and then win. Like, we kind of know how this is going to go. I'm good with it. AI isn't something that's coming five or ten years from now.
Starting point is 00:13:34 Businesses are already using it every day and it's changing everything from the questions they ask to the decisions they make and even the routine work people don't have time for. Starting point is 00:14:24 Get your free guide at netsuite.com slash dLB. NetSuite.com slash dLB. NetSuite.com slash dLB. Going for two when you're up by five. Switching the zone when man isn't working. Oh, and building your new stadium in a state. your team actually plays in. In sports, some things just make sense.
Starting point is 00:14:48 You know what else makes sense? Drinking Yeagermeister shots. Ice cold. Drinking it any other way would be like punting on first down. Or letting your worst hitter bat first or like going for two when you're down three with a second to go. It wouldn't make any sense. So don't let the team down.
Starting point is 00:15:06 When it comes to Yeagermeister, drink it cold or don't drink it at all! Jaegermeister, damn that's cold. Brink responsibly, Yeagermeister liqueur, 35% alcohol by volume, imported by Master Yeagermeister U.S., White Plains, New York. Dan Levitar. Baker Mayfield tearing up Tampa Bay, 38 for 45. Great Corey. Shredom! This is the Dan LeBatar show.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Nick, the idea of Tyreek Hill 2.0 and KC., yes or hell no? Well, prior to the news yesterday, I had been press. adamant that this was going to happen I think I told you guys two years ago that I thought that sometime in 2026 Tyree Kill would be a chief and then that was before he had the catastrophic knee injury so if we are let's segment it for a moment okay Tyree Kill the football player even if he is a greatly diminished version of himself he was such a one-of-one raw natural athlete, that 75% of Tyree Kill post injury still might be a plus receiver in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:16:26 And now with Tyquan Thornton's injury, he can slide right in to that deep threat role. The chiefs, again, as of Sunday, were all unanimous they wanted him back. I don't think he would sign with anybody else. I think all of that made sense. Now, that's the football side of it. The non-football side of it is this. We've had a ton of evidence dating back to college that Tyree Kill, in all likelihood, is a bad dude. He was, in all likelihood, a bad dude when I was rooting for him.
Starting point is 00:17:00 A danger to women and children. A danger to women and children. Yeah, absolutely. I wasn't trying to soft sell it. I absolutely. To me, bad, like, bad guy is more. damning than, you know, let me back up a bit. Talk about a different chief that's been on the wrong side of the law. I'm not ready to say Rishie Rice is a bad guy. I obviously Rishie Rice has done wildly reckless, dangerous, dumb things, but I don't know that he's a bad guy. I'm pretty confident Tyree Kill is a bad guy. And as you put it, a bad guy in the most gross sense possible. There are multiple allegations of him harming multiple pregnant women. dating back to college.
Starting point is 00:17:48 It's why he fell in the draft. Like so all of that. So I have, but I, so I have to be, I can't pretend like I didn't know that when I was rooting for him on the Chiefs. And if people, like people come at me all the time. They're like, when are you going to talk about this? I've talked about this for years.
Starting point is 00:18:09 When I was doing, when I used to do a radio show on Mad Dog was when the allegation. came out gosh six years ago that he broke his kid's arm now that allegation appeared to he like he proved was not correct but the but again i who knows when that happened i live on the radio said you just got to get rid of this guy like enough's enough but again i am i try to just be honest with the audience and let them judge me how they see fit if the audience here's like like okay nick so you were fine with the cup you know the first two domestic abuse allegations but the third strike and he's out you know the where's your moral compass that's a fair critique to have i also find rooting for pro
Starting point is 00:19:00 sports particularly the NFL if you are going to be unable to root for your team if they have guys that you would never want to be around or have around people you care about, you're going to run out of teams in very short order. So I do think there is, it's not that it's complicated, it's that it's messy. I don't know that the allegations from yesterday in the civil lawsuit, how that's going to impact his future. I think that if you were planning on signing Tyree Hill a week ago, were you doing it thinking? he was not these things. Oh, but no, no, but I think the details,
Starting point is 00:19:45 the thing that happened with Ray Rice, Nick, is we all saw it. And when you're listening to the testimony of Lakeita Hill, putting a voice to it, putting a face to it, having the story and the details include, he was trying to punch me in the stomach when I was pregnant, and I had to block it with my hands. And Tyree Kill and his people actively trying to keep
Starting point is 00:20:06 all of that out of the news stream. and all of that away from the NFL. I do think we can guess pretty correctly that he will suffer a penalty under the personal conduct code. That if you sign him, the first thing that's going to happen is he's going to have to sit at the beginning
Starting point is 00:20:24 of some of that because the NFL... If that's the case, then I don't think anybody will sign him. I'm not certain that last, the personal conduct policy piece of this, that that is, That is true. You have to, though. If you listen to the testimony yesterday, Nick,
Starting point is 00:20:43 like I just don't see how the NFL can wiggle around that. No, that's, listen, and maybe that's best for everybody. Maybe it's best for the NFL that they take this out of the team's hands. And they just snap, say, just, you know, hey, he is on the commissioner's exempt list, even as an unsigned player. So I, but the, but that almost misses, that, that removes the, at the, question from the teams and it gives them an out of you know he's going to be suspended the reason I said I'm not sure of that is the NFL has had very
Starting point is 00:21:18 different responses based on whether this is in criminal court or in civil court and a lot of times in civil court they've kind of just looked the other way I'm not there is if this is if people want to know if the chief signed Tyree Kill will I stop rooting for them the answer to that is is no. I won't. And if people want to say I'm a bad guy because of it, that's fine. I'm just being honest with you. If you are asking me, do I want the chiefs given that testimony yesterday to sign Tyree Kill? The answer to that question is also no. Do I think they still might? The answer that question is yes. I think they still might. Well, Mike Ryan quit the Cleveland Browns,
Starting point is 00:22:02 his childhood team, and a lot of people accused him of virtue signaling, but he quit his allegiance to that team because he was so disgusted by the Deshawn Watson story. Walk me through the proper way, because I'm already being made uncomfortable by the way that Chris Myers and Tony Gonzalez, the active hyperventilation that doesn't have the context or nuance to what Deshaun Watson is coming back from when you celebrate his comeback. What is the correct way to talk about some of this stuff inside of a broadcast with, for example, Deshawn Watson. So, I mean, I don't think it's that hard.
Starting point is 00:22:40 And I thought, I didn't see the Chris Myers thing. I only saw the Amazon, the Herb Street and Al Michaels and Tony and that whole thing. And I found it, forget the moral side of it, the broadcaster piece of it, just awful. Like, here's the, here is all you have to do if you want to, during the game, in brief discuss the Deshawn Watson situation. Here you know what I'll try to do it between plays Brown's sitting at three and one and probably nobody more surprised by it than a lot of Brown's fans that were booing to Sean Watson in this offseason. It's been well documented the Brown's highly controversial trade for Deshawn
Starting point is 00:23:28 Watson while he was facing dozens of civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault while it never went to criminal court, the NFL felt they had enough evidence to suspend him for the bulk of his first season with the Brown. Third and four. What if they're running tempo? Third and four. Like if that's two minute offense,
Starting point is 00:23:47 you don't have time for that, Nick. I wouldn't do it in two minute offense, Dan. I think I would do it maybe, you know, I think I'd give myself a minute for it. And if I may continue. And after that suspension, Deshawn has been consistently injured and when he's been on the field has been
Starting point is 00:24:05 one of the by any statistical metric, the worst quarterbacks in the league, which is why so many were shocked this offseason when after being booed Concepcion in motion. Okay. I mean, how much time do you think is between plays? It's hard to, it's, the reason that they don't do it
Starting point is 00:24:25 is manifold. It's not, it's not just one reason. No, well, there is time. There is time to do it. What might be it? There is time to do it, but it is not the easiest thing to do between plays. No, okay, then maybe, that's fine. But they had a Taylor Rooks interview that also made me uncomfortable. Like, we don't have to rehab this guy. No, well, so that's the piece of it that is you can, I am okay with.
Starting point is 00:24:54 And this is where, again, Mike Ryan, there's a lot of evidence. Mike Ryan is just flatly a better person than me. Like, I'm okay with that, a lot of evidence. But I am okay with football fans or even football broadcast if they say as a tenant Listen, we're art not artist we're just we are talking we're not going to pretend there is not things outside of the four lines of the football field but we are focusing on the football You can also tell the to Sean Watson Brown's piece of that within those lines under understanding people know the allegations, the very credible dozens and dozens of allegations,
Starting point is 00:25:41 without making it seem like he's coming back from cancer, without making it seem like he was unjustly imprisoned for 18 months and this is some hero's return. What was galling about the Amazon piece to me was not that they chose not to death. delve into seven years later, six years later, you know, all of the allegations. If they wanted as a, if they've decided that ground has been covered, we're not doing that. I'm actually okay with it. What I am not okay with is them deciding not to delve into it and then turning it into someone who has overcome so much adversity as if the adverse, like I don't think the first game
Starting point is 00:26:32 Plexico came back from after shooting himself in the leg because he had a gun in his sweatpants and a nightclub, people were like, man, what a story of achievement this is. But at least if they had, Plexico had only hurt himself. And so that was the part of it that I thought was insulting to the audience. You do not have to make him a martyr. You can just talk about the play and reference his past as well. He's the host of FS1's First Things First. What's Right with Nick Wright is the podcast he does with his son. Talk to you soon. Congratulations.
Starting point is 00:27:10 Oh, thank you very much. And a quick question for Mike Ryan. You don't have to answer it. Just let it bounce around in your head because I gave you a lot of compliments. I'm glad you had a good time at the Miami game. You are a better person than me. It would have been harder to quit the Browns if they were awesome, right? Like, the fact that they sucked made it easier.
Starting point is 00:27:28 I didn't know. No, I didn't know that. I didn't know what kind of, I didn't know what kind of team they'd have. I did this. Yeah, you did. They're the Browns. You knew what type of team they'd always have. It was the Baker, Baccaroel.
Starting point is 00:27:40 It was a Jarvis Landry team, right? That you quit? It was a winning team. It wasn't Baker anymore. It wasn't a good team. It was the Browns. Okay. I'm just saying it's easy.
Starting point is 00:27:50 I mean, that Brown's team should have beat Kansas City. You got a hell of a call against Hollywood Higgins. A lot of teams should be Kansas City. Hollywood Higgins because you took a helmet, you speared him in the helmet. You guys in that game should have been a touchdown goes out of bounds. Yeah. Yeah. Knocked him out of the game.
Starting point is 00:28:08 Yeah. I've heard of 14 point swing. Exactly. You have survived. I'd say that team was pretty good. Pretty good. You know what? I take it all back.
Starting point is 00:28:18 Let him quit the canes and I'll compliment. All right. See you later. If I didn't quit the canes or in Manny Diaz, I'm never quitting, pal. See you later. Happy belated birthday, too, Nick. Good seeing you. Papa Nick Wright, doing a lot of winning.
Starting point is 00:28:31 Happy birthday to him. I don't care. Good luck. Tony, you know that moment at a party or a tailgate where everything just sort of clicks. I know it well. It's usually when I show up. Everybody goes crazy. Yeah, you usually take all the credit for it.
Starting point is 00:28:48 But it's because Tony usually walks in with Quervo. Walking like this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Quervo is a thing that turns hanging out into this is the night. It has that effect on people. It does. You usually take the credit for it. But again, it's the Cuervo effect. It's like that moment in a big game where everyone in the crowd just starts standing up, hooting and hollering. Keep it quervo. Keep it quervo, baby. Ah, folks, listen up. You wouldn't want an offense alignment to play wide receiver, would you? No, you wouldn't. You need the right person. You need the right equipment for the job. That applies to football, and it definitely applies below the waist.
Starting point is 00:29:26 That's where the lawnmower lineup from Manscape comes in. Trusted by over 14 million men worldwide, the lawnmower go is slim, sporty, and straightforward. Or if you like your grooming tools fully loaded, there's the all-new lawnmower ultra-gen-6 engineered with a premium alloy body. Both are waterproof for easy cleanup and feature skin-safe technology to reduce the nix and cuts. Because that is one injury, folks.
Starting point is 00:29:51 Nobody wants to explain. Find Manscaped and the lawnmower lineup today at Target and C-Safe. So let me offer here to the audience the permission and ability to leave the show right now if you don't want to get upset by some subject matter here that is going to be unpleasant because we're not going to just talk about this right now in terms that allow us to paraphrase. We're going to let you hear the voice of Lakeita Hill. I'm going to remind you again that the Ray Rice controversy, this was illuminating to me, even as someone who's been in the inner workings of the cauldron and seen some of the awful that desperate coaches and GMs will do, putting aside their morals and trampling women and trampling people in the name of I need speed in my huddle. What you have happening yesterday during a civil trial, and this is what I learned from Ray Rice, I had spent so many years reading the stories about, and there's a domestic abuse allegation, and here it is in print. But when I saw the video of it, and it's one of the great controversies in the history of sports,
Starting point is 00:31:01 it happened during our show, and you're watching Ray Rice, who isn't even one of the big ones, one of the physically giant people who play football, is just knocking his fiancé out in a elevator, and I remember thinking and saying as it was on my television, and I'm seeing it for the first time horrified, oh my God, that's what it actually looks like when it's not in print, not just an allegation, not just people talking about it, but here's what domestic violence can look like. Now, if you're not familiar with the history of Tyree Kill, and I made this mistake just yesterday, I made it plenty when he was with the Dolphins, and I made it just yesterday talking specifically about the football and not the other things. Tyreek Hill since college has been someone who harms pregnant women. And in this case, the allegations by Lakeita Hill, which we read some last year when talking about how he's a danger to women and children, Lakeita Hill is saying he doesn't want this baby.
Starting point is 00:32:05 He cannot stop impregnating women. He said last year while he was with the Dolphins that if he had a second career, he wanted to be a porn star. This is a toddler. This is a child, a reckless child. And he has been a reckless child the entire time he's been in the league and before he was in the league, but he's really fast. And a lot of teams need speed. And so in the civil trial yesterday, she's giving you the details of he doesn't want the child. And so he's trying to punch her in the stomach allegedly.
Starting point is 00:32:32 So what we're going to do now, and again, leave now if this stuff is triggering to you because I'm going to play this. And we talked about this before the show, and we didn't really want to play it. but I want for people to hear the voice and have a human, a woman tell you in her own words how afraid she was of Tyree Kill. So if you don't want to hear this, now is the time to go. It's a few minutes long and it's deeply uncomfortable. And Tyree Kill and his people don't want you to hear this. They don't want you to see this. They don't want this impacting his career.
Starting point is 00:33:11 They don't want you. It's not a coincidence that Drew Rosenhouse came out. just before this and said, yep, a lot of teams interested. A lot of teams, we're going to be signing soon. And as soon as he does sign, he's going to get punished by the league. They don't punish players who aren't in the league, but as soon as he signs, he's going to get punished. But with all of that as preface and all of that as warning, here is the deeply uncomfortable sound of Lakita Hill testifying in a civil trial what it is that Tyreek Hill, her husband, did as a monster
Starting point is 00:33:43 that she was afraid she was living with. That day, I was the first time that he, like, struck at my stomach and punched it and, like, saved myself. But it was just, you know, he was like, I don't want the baby. And just, probably the worst of all these abuse times, just because he, like, grabbed my hair, ripped it out, throwing all my things. And I don't know, I was obviously very vulnerable.
Starting point is 00:34:15 I was pregnant and he treated me like I was just a man. Like it was, it was so violent. It hurt me so bad. And I was crying. I was bawling crying. And he was just telling me, just cussing at me. And I was just like, looked at him. I was like, oh, this guy's serious.
Starting point is 00:34:35 Like, you know, this could be bad if I keep allowing myself to be in this position, allow myself to just take this. It is worth noting that she can't look at him. Like he's sitting there across from her and she will not look at him. She articulated in much of her testimony that she was afraid. And I go back now to the way that Hard Knocks and HBO and the NFL tried to sanitize some of this stuff while covering the dolphins and put them at a dinner table talking about business while all of these allegations were swirling around Tyreek Hill and basically did an infomercial for, well,
Starting point is 00:35:17 Tyreek Hill, he's deeper than you think he is. He is somebody who consistently, since college, is a menace to pregnant women that he has impregnated. There aren't a lot of other players in the league. You can say that about, even as that league has plenty of violence and plenty of domestic issues. And I wish I'd been stronger about this when he was a Miami Dolphin. It's a little easier to do now. The only stand I took was, you know, when he had, he wanted, upon arriving in Miami, he wanted to do our show and then have me come on his podcast. And it's just not something I would do without asking some of those questions. And I wasn't allowed to ask those questions. And so those interviews never happened. And it wasn't something that ever became a relationship
Starting point is 00:36:03 down here in any form. Because if I'm not allowed to ask some of the questions that are surrounding this particular stuff. I can't make that as a trade. But even yesterday's as I made the mistake of immediately going to the football without mentioning any of this other stuff as if there wasn't a civil trial that was starting that very day. Well, I think this footage of her came out after the show yesterday. All right, if, you know, I want to lend you a little bit of grace there. But I'm essentially in the same boat. Like I'll wear it too for not saying enough over the last few years about Tyreek Hill. And while maybe this information wasn't out there while he was playing for the Dolphins, we did have the information from before he was playing for the Dolphins.
Starting point is 00:36:48 But it was here while with the Dolphins as well. Like these allegations were in print. They were being made. They just didn't have quite these kinds of details from her. But there was a fight over one of the children where it was alleged that physically one of the children were grabbed. Like this person's unsafe. He's violently unsafe. And he's violently unsafe. And he's. he's and he's reckless with that violence. Well, there was also the Instagram model that broke his, broke her leg running routes at Tyreeks' house. That also was kind of like in the air.
Starting point is 00:37:16 Yeah. It was weird. It's not just in the air. His house caught fire. There's all sorts of insanity around this person, but there is no one else in the league who has different pregnant women, making the allegation that he tried to harm a baby he didn't want. And I also believe he's,
Starting point is 00:37:34 I think he's got eight or nine kids. like there's just a great deal of recklessness throughout the entirety of his life. And Mike, I'm just curious because you didn't think necessarily that this was sound that we should be playing because of how easy it is for us to now pile on Tyreek Hill now that he's no longer here. You thought that there was some cowardice involved in us doing this now. I thought the entire time that Tyreek Hill was down here, it made me a little uncomfortable. to see how quickly people were to just overlook all that stuff. We were at a Formula One race, and Tyreek Hill was there, and he came up, and you took a picture,
Starting point is 00:38:15 and I told you right afterwards. I'm like, you're going to want that one back, because that's a bad dude. And while that is new stuff, it's not new for Tyreek Hill. Like, there was really awful stuff out there from, you can maybe give somebody some grace after, you know, he was in college. He paid his debt. He learned from it. and he turned things around and you can forgive somebody.
Starting point is 00:38:40 Like Kareem Hunt, for example, never got in the news stream again, seemed to really learn from that stuff. You can't afford people some grace, but Tyree Kail never seemed to stop being a bad guy. And he definitely didn't show contrition in the ways that were satisfying. But man, was he electric for the Miami Dolphins? And we never had a threat like that down here. And we lost our breath talking about it because it was new.
Starting point is 00:39:03 It was exciting. It was MVP talk and the entire time. I'm like, well, he's also kind of a piece of crap. He's right. It's embarrassing. I'm embarrassed over it. I am. Because I have no problem speaking about this stuff.
Starting point is 00:39:15 Right. When it's guys on other teams. But you understand where I'm embarrassed. Yeah, but it's easy to say that now. Well, that's why I'm embarrassed. That's why I'm embarrassed because it's easy to say it now. It's easy to play stuff like that. It's easy to spotlight how bad of a guy he is now that he's out of here.
Starting point is 00:39:31 I don't even think it's just about the fact that he's out of here. Like, we were talking about it yesterday. We were talking about Tyreek Hill, totally non-associated with the dolphins, the idea of where's he going to go, where is he going to play football. And then this video started making the rounds. And we all kind of had the same reaction. What Dan brought up at the very beginning of this conversation, which is it took until we saw the Ray Rice video for everyone to react to it the way that they should. And so when this stuff isn't blatantly in your face at all times, when you're not having to listen to victims, when you're not having to know someone who was potentially, domestically abused or sexually assaulted.
Starting point is 00:40:09 It can go to the back of your mind. You can go back and you can watch an electric football player who entertains you on your team or another one. But that's why playing a video like this is important because the people in our audience might tune out one way or another, whether we're having the conversation in a serious way like this, whether we're having the conversation about Tyree Kill and the football player he is. But when you have testimony like that and it's right there for someone to listen to and to see
Starting point is 00:40:35 the face of a victim, it's an important reminder to bring it back up, particularly because all of a sudden his agent leaks the day before this testimony is going to happen that, oh, now he's going to sign. Like, that is disgusting to me, the idea that you're almost trying to get ahead of the narrative of, oh, hey, he's really close to signing with a team. Have everybody get excited. I understand that that's his job. But then our job is to provide this video that is now out there and say, hey,
Starting point is 00:41:05 let's put this back in perspective, even if we may not have done a good job before. Well, one of the points, though, that just got made, and I don't believe that it's something that we should gloss over because it also applies to Deshawn Watson. Where's the contrition? Like, it's not even that you don't learn the lesson. It's not even that you're a repeat offender. You don't seem to understand in any way that this should embarrass you. It's sitting here embarrassing me and Zaz the way that.
Starting point is 00:41:35 We are talking about it. And Chris Cody just whispered in my ear, Larry the cable guy next. Oh, yes. Tony, you know that moment at a party or a tailgate where everything just sort of clicks? I know it well. It's usually when I show up. Everybody goes crazy. Yeah, you usually take all the credit for it.
Starting point is 00:41:54 But it's because Tony usually walks in with Quervo. I'm walking like this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Quervo is a thing that turns hanging out into this is the night. It has that effect on people. It does. You usually take the credit. for it, but again, it's the Cuervo
Starting point is 00:42:08 effect. It's like that moment in a big game where everyone in the crowd just starts standing up, hooting and hollering. Keep it quervo. Keep it quervo, baby.
