Starting point is 00:00:00 There is nothing casual about football season. You can tell yourself, you're just going to watch one game, and six hours later, you're emotionally invested in a fourth quarter between two teams you don't even care about. That's what I love about this time of year. The entire weekend becomes football. Your texting friends, tracking games, second-guess and coaches, convincing yourself you saw something before everybody else did. And then Monday comes around and you get to do the whole thing again.
Starting point is 00:00:28 Those are the weekends you remember. And for me, some of the best ones have usually involved some good people, a great game, and a cold Miller light. No matter what triumphs are in store this season, legendary game days start with Miller Light. Cold, crisp, refreshing, that clean finish. And it's part of plenty of memorable football weekends. Make Game Day legendary. Go to MillerLight.com slash Dan to find delivery options near you, or you can pick up some Miller Lite pretty much anywhere they sell beer. Game time is Miller time.

Starting point is 00:01:30 is getting soaked. And your cat just floated by on a sofa cushion? That's why Intact Insurance answers 2 million claim calls per year within 20 seconds. It's their way of going the extra mile to help. So instead of hearing this lovely track over and over and over, you'll hear this in seconds.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Hello, Intact Insurance. Now that's music to your ears. You're listening to the Dan Levitar show in partnership with the Drafkin Sports app. Now live in all 50 states. So Taylor Swift released some new music today. She released four more songs for The Life of a Showgirl, which is now the Life of a Showgirl, The Encore, which is the deluxe album, which is like the fifth or six different variant of this album. And unfortunately, I think it's come to a time where I can say this, that this is the end of an era in pop music where Taylor Swift is no longer our best.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Taylor Swift has over the last five years really since releasing folklore not made a good album. Not one of these is a good album. Midnights was good-ish. Tortured Poets Department got worse. Life of a showgirl got worse from there. Her writing is no longer in a place to where she can articulate love in an interesting way. everything that she writes about Travis Kelsey feels like she's writing from the perspective of someone who just wants you to know she's in love, not able to explain the intricacies of that love anymore. These songs are boring, the melodies are boring.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Unfortunately, the best compliment I can give is that one of the songs has a pretty catchy chorus. But guys, I think this is the end of an era. Taylor Swift is no longer one of our great songwriters. She's no longer one of our great artists. But it's always worth celebrating something that you once had. It's always worth saying goodbye to something that was beautiful. And 15 years of Taylor Swift's music being at the top of the charts was great.
Starting point is 00:03:46 Being one of the great songwriters, it was spectacular. And folks, I think that's worth a toast. Worth a toast is presented by Cuervo. Keep it fun. Keep it Cuervo. Taylor, we look forward to a second era of your great artistry coming back someday. I'll be honest. Other than Worth the Twos brought to you by Cuervo, all I heard from you was pumpkin spice. Just everything is just kind of like pumpkin spice. Yeah, the pumpkin spice lovers want better from Taylor Swift.
Starting point is 00:04:13 I'm drinking pumpkin spice right now. I'm actively drinking it. Which means I have the credentials to tell you about Taylor Swift's music. I have a theory that when you are in a loving, stable relationship, as an artist, that's when your worst art comes out. Yeah, this is honestly, it reminds me there's a decade, and not to even dig myself deeper as a white guy in sports, but there's about a decade of Bruce Springsteen that's not good. And it's from, born in the USA, where he gets rich and famous in the height of his success and gets married and is in what ends up being a four-year-long marriage before getting
Starting point is 00:04:47 divorced. That's not what I'm predicting here. But it's a four-year-long marriage. He releases three or four studio albums that have a, A few good songs on them, the biggest of fans will go, oh, no, but that's a good song. I like the life of a showgirl. But ultimately, these are bad albums until eventually coming back and reaching a space in adulthood of, hey, I'm going to start writing about books that I've read. I'm going to start writing about current events.
Starting point is 00:05:11 No, but that's how it worked for Springsteen. That's what Taylor Swift needs to do. Listen to me. Hey, get in the classroom. Start reading some classics. No, no, no, no, no. Listen to me. You want to make art.
Starting point is 00:05:21 You have to have a home life. That's fact, right? Take a look at Adele. Adele was in a relationship, and then she broke up and she gave us a bangor album. Then she got back in a relationship, and then she got out of that relationship and went to give us another bangor album.
Starting point is 00:05:38 And then she got with Rich Paul, and we haven't heard music since. Do the right thing, Rich Paul, cheat. No, but that's the right thing from Adele. Don't just pump out music for no reason. You know what happened with Taylor Swift? You know how many songs Taylor Swift has released since 2022? She's released 87 songs since 2020.
Starting point is 00:05:57 You got to ride that way. Since her ex-boyfriend last released an album a week before she did. It's enough. If the 1975 has released a song, how about 87 songs? It's too many. They're not that good. You have nothing left to say. There's nothing interesting left to say.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Because she's in too stable of a place. And a billionaire. There's nothing related. No, I'm telling you, you can be rich. You can be wildly rich and still be creative. Everyone thinks, oh, you have to have hardship. Like, oh, I'm bro. and the starving artist.
Starting point is 00:06:24 No, no, no. You just have to have a... 87 original tracks, or she does that re-release stuff? 87 original tracks. That's too many tracks. That's insane. 87 of them? Enough.
Starting point is 00:06:36 We bring in the one and only Matthew Barry. Matthew, what is your take on my theory that in order to create great art, you have to have a... I disagree. I mean, candidly, I had a great home life. And, you know, my show, Well, Happy Hour, I think all people call great art. Absolutely. No, jokes aside, I certainly think some sort of trauma as a child certainly is inspired a bunch of great art, but I don't think it is a necessary. I don't, I, there has to have been some people that had completely happy childhoods that have also produced great art.
Starting point is 00:07:14 Where are they? Point them out to me, Matthew Berry. I haven't done it. Honestly, I spend most of my time deep diving on football. and fantasy football and nerd stuff. And so I haven't done a deep dive on the childhoods of a bunch of people I enjoy. I mean, I will tell you, you guys know this. I'm a crazy Jimmy Buffett fan. I'm a crazy Jimmy Buffett fan.
Starting point is 00:07:36 And by all accounts, Jimmy had a pretty good childhood. So there you go. You know, whether you define, whether you, some people love Jimmy like I do, millions of fans. Some people don't think he's great art. So I suppose it all depends on your definition of great art. But yeah, I don't know, man. like, I understand the premise.
Starting point is 00:07:55 Let me put it this way. I understand the premise. I don't agree with a conclusion because I feel like you guys are all cropping on Taylor Swift. I'm a Swifty. I'm a fan of Taylor Swift. I will hear no slander about Taylor Swift. Taking the easy side. You're damn right.
Starting point is 00:08:12 Hit it, Roy. I hit the music. Matthew Barry. Matthew Perry. Ronnie Cycley. Ronnie Cycley. Matthew Barry's fantasy picks are delivered by Little Caesars. The official pizza sponsor of the NFL right now scored two faves just for you
Starting point is 00:08:28 with Detroit-style slices and sticks for just $4.99, only at Little Caesars. Officially delicious, Matthew. I take your word for it. I take your word for it there. Look, I don't know. First off, shout out Ronnie Cycle, whose name I have not heard in a long time, but I like the fact that we're talking about Syracuse basketball legends and not my Syracuse football team, which is not good.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Among the facts you need to know before week number three in fantasy football in each of his last four starts dating back to last year, Tyler Shuck has scored at least 20 fantasy points. In fact, over his last eight, he's had at least 17 fantasy points. Since week 10 of last year, Tyler Shuck is the fifth best quarterback in fantasy football. He's still available about 40% of Yahoo Leagues. Last week after Andre Stevenson lost a first quarter cumble against the Steelers, Trayvion Henderson led the Patriots backfield. had a 65% snap rate. He out touched Stevenson 16 to 5. But I will just tell you that we saw this last year where Stevenson would fumble. He'd go out. Henderson would come in. He would crush. And then they went right back to Romandre Stevenson.
Starting point is 00:09:34 They don't trust Tray on Henderson. Trayvion and pass protection. Don't panic on Stevenson. I have them close together, but I have Stevenson ranked ahead of Henderson here in week number three. After J.K. Dobbins left the game last week, Jonah Coleman saw an 83% snap rate, handled nine of the teams running back 10 touches. Now, Coleman's a little bit banged up. Dobbins and Harvey are back, but I'm telling you, over the second half of the year, Jonah Coleman is the Broncos running back you are going to want to have. In the 10 games, Terry McLaurin played with Marcus Moriota. He's averaging a 25% target share over 11 yards for target.
Starting point is 00:10:07 In the games, Marioata started last season. McLaurin averaged over 14 fantasy points for game. I don't love McLaren this week against Seattle, but overall McLaren and Stefan Diggs will be just fine with Marcus Mariot as long as he's the starting quarterback. By the way, through the first two games, this is a bet you will win that people will be shocked about. But the Jets leader in targets through two weeks is Adnigh Mitchell. It's not Garrett Wilson, it's not Brees Hall. It's Adnoy Mitchell and it's averaged up the target. It's over 14 yards, by the way, this week. He plays a lion secondary that is a lot of the second most yards on deep passes this season.
Starting point is 00:10:40 I like Mitchell as a sleeper this week. Through two games, Denzel Boston has a 95% route participation. He's tied for the Brown's team lead with a 21% target. share still available in over 50% of Yahoo Leagues. With Nico Collins out of the lineup last week and expected to be out of the lineup this week, Dalton Schultz targeted over 30% of his routes. He finished with a Texans team high, 28% target share. And by the way, this week, the Texans face a Colts team that so far this year has allowed the fourth most yards to opposing tight ends. One last one here for you. Since he entered the NFL, the pride of Syracuse,
Starting point is 00:11:16 So Rondi Gadsden, Dave Damashak, ranks third among Titans and yards per target. And through two weeks, the Chargers rank top 10 in Titan target chair with the charges placing David and Joku on IR. And they're announcing that Charlie Kohler is also banged up and going to miss this game against the Bills where the Chargers are significant underdogs to Buffalo. Give me a Ronda Gadsden as a sleeper tight end this season and as long as Injoku and Kohler are out. We can agree on the Gadsden family because Arrondi Gadsden family because Arrani Gadsden. Sunday Sr., of course, toiled at Pitt before his son went off to play for the Cuse.
Starting point is 00:11:53 Matthew Barry, first of all, great thanks because I asked you a week ago, D.K. Metcalf or Jalen Waddle, you said Waddle and Waddle definitely was great. D.K. Metcalf was an atrocity, and I won, and so thank you for that. You mentioned Tyler Shuck and how good he's been. Do you have him ahead of Drake May, and I guess what I'm really getting at is how lower you at this point on Drake May, especially without A.J. Brown? Yeah, I'm nervous about Drake May. I mean, again, he has not looked good. Losing A.J. Brown was significant. He's not running as much as we would like. I still have Drake May slightly ahead of Tyler Shuck, but yeah, it's a real question. And after this week, I would not be surprised to see Shuck being ranked ahead of Drake May. I still hold out hope for, I believe in Drake May's talent, I believe in
Starting point is 00:12:46 Josh McDaniels. But Shuck is for real. Shuck is for real. And it's an actual question. And so it's both a testament to the struggles that May has had so far this season against tougher competition without his top wide receiver and, you know, how good Tyler Shuck has played. And, you know, Kellan Moore's offense. Again, they get down big. They throw a lot. They play at a high pace of play. The Saints do. And so, yeah, Liz, I'm a Tyler Shuck believer. Matthew. Does that mean that you're stashing Jordan Tyson at this point? Because that, let's keep that in mind, too. that they are hamstrung by their first round pick.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Tyson hasn't touched the field yet. What if he gets back alongside Alave EGAD? Yeah, by the way, nice use of hamstrung there. I mean, so I'm stashing Tyson in leagues where I have an IR spot or I have a deep enough bench where using a roster spot doesn't matter if it's a, you know, I mean, it might be another six weeks, eight weeks before we see Jordan Tyson. The other thing is I don't think they're going to rush them back because they've gotten really nice production out of Devon Bailey.
Starting point is 00:13:43 The truth of the matter is, is I mean, like they're doing well, yes, they lost to the Lions, but like, it's a big win against Baltimore. They took the Lions to overtime. Like, I think if you're a New Orleans fan, I think if you're Kellen Moore, you feel pretty good about what this offense looks like so far. Delivered by Little Caesars, the official pizza sponsor of the NFL. Right now, score two faves just for you with Detroit-style slices and sticks. It's the biggest duo since Monday nights and football,
Starting point is 00:14:12 two pieces of Detroit-style deep-disch pepperoni pizza, and four pieces of Italian cheese bread and crazy sauce for just $4.99 only at Little Caesars. Make your game day delicious with Little Caesars officially delicious. Dan Levitar. I like options. I don't like Cheeto trying to corner the market by saying we're everything. Dave Demichick. We're the puffy ones.
Starting point is 00:14:38 I believe you're picking up what I'm laying down. This is the Dan Levitar show. Matthew, wouldn't you sound the alarm? Wouldn't you sound an alarm for the charges? Yeah, I mean, now. Have you seen their upcoming schedule? Like, I don't have it off the top of my head. But it's like, their upcoming schedule is insane.
Starting point is 00:15:03 It's like, I don't have it off the top of my head. Maybe someone can look it up. But it's at, it's like, it's at Buffalo this week. They have four of the next five are on the road. At Seattle. One home games against Denver. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:14 So at Seattle. Like, read it off. It's crazy. So at Buffalo this week, at Seattle the week after that. home for Denver, then at, excuse me, at Kansas City, and then at the Rams. The Rams, yeah. And then Texas. I mean, there's, I can't imagine that they're going to be favored in any one of those games. I mean, I suppose if the Chargers upset the bills, if the charges look good over the next two weeks and Denver falters a little bit, I could see them being
Starting point is 00:15:40 favored at home against the Broncos if the next two weeks go well. But other than that, like, as we sit here today, I would think that they would be the underdogs in all five of their upcoming games. Like the idea of the Chargers here was that they were supposed to, they were supposed to beat the Raiders. They were supposed to be the Cardinals. So they were 2 and 0 before they went into this stretch. But now they're 0 and 2. They lost Kohler and Joku. And so as we talked about a Gadsen, like from a fantasy perspective, that's great.
Starting point is 00:16:06 Like Gadsden will get a lot more run and we like him as a pass catching tight in. But from an actual football perspective, like Injoku and Charlie Kohler are really good blocking tight ends. And that hurts an offensive line that like so far has been awful. Like Herbert's been running for his life, you know, and now they have to play, again, they have to play Buffalo on the road, Seattle on the road, home to Denver, at the Chiefs, at the Rams. Like, O and 7 is not out of the realm of possibility for the Chargers. So panic was last week when they lost to the Raiders. I mean, and we all like Mike McDaniel. We all thought this was going to be Justin Herbert's year.
Starting point is 00:16:45 But like, I mean, if they're O and 7 does Harbaugh. survive that? Like, they'll fire McDaniel first, but I just, panic should be right now. I mean, there are significant underdogs on the road at Buffalo, which, by the way, the bills have had 10 days to prepare for this. Remember, the bills were the Thursday night game last week. So 10 days to prepare for a home game against a Chargers defense that's traveling cross-country banged up and, you know, struggling to figure out their offensive identity.
Starting point is 00:17:13 Matthew, last question here for you. The Bears have had some very curious route participants. curious percentages of target shares. Colston Loveland has been missing an act. Luther Burden, somebody who's been a huge piece of this offense we were told. Khalif Raymond is now their wide receiver one. Like what's happening in Chicago? Yeah. Look, I share your frustration.
Starting point is 00:17:39 I was all in on Colston Loveland in the preseason. He was my number three tied in. He was one of my runner-ups for my ride or die. So I am right there with you. like, I don't get it. Like, it's crazy that last week, Colson Loveland caught one ball for three receptions, and it was best game of the year. Like, it was better than a zero for zero in week one. Colson Loveland is the third best titan and fantasy on his own team. Like, he's not even a top three tight in. He's not even a top two tight in on his own team fantasy-wise through two weeks.
Starting point is 00:18:10 So it is mind-boggling, and now they've got to go into Philadelphia on Monday night with either Tyson Bayesian or more likely Case Keenham. So it is. not great. It's been a weird one in terms of, you know, the first game, again, Loveland's out there. Loveland actually leads the team in route participation. He actually leads the team in end on targets. You know, in week one, there was a touchdown pass that he should have. Caleb just missed him on two big throws, Colston Loveland. I think if Caleb makes those throws, Loveland scores the touchdown, I think the narrative is a little bit different. But yeah, this is not great. And so I'm, listen, this week I have Loveland at Titan 12. I think just given the state of the
Starting point is 00:18:52 tight end position, like, you probably have to hope that they figured out and that maybe one of these backup quarterbacks is trying to look for him a little bit more and they try to get him involved because obviously they've got to figure out some stuff. Also, by the way, the way you attack Philadelphia, because their corners are so good because Mitchell and Dijan are just so awesome, you try to attack the middle of the field. So I do think Loveland hopefully shows some signs of life on Monday night. But yeah, Burden's in the 30s for me. And Dune's he's outside my top 45. I think you'll see a heavy run game on Monday night.
Starting point is 00:19:20 I think you'll see, you know, I think Swift is still a top 20 play because of the volume there. I probably wouldn't touch Mongeye, but it's tough, man. It's for a team that almost put up 60 in week one, things have certainly changed for the Bears offensively. And I'm as confused as you about Colston Loveland, but I believe in the talent. I believe in Ben Johnson, so I am hanging tough despite all signs to the contrary. I love this, cat.
Starting point is 00:19:46 Go ahead. Randy Cuxley. Arronday Cuckley. His name's Matthew Barry. He's the founder of FantasyLife.com and the host of Fantasy Football. Happy Hour with Matthew Barry on Odyssey. And, guys, he's got a new show. He's hosting a new live weekday show on Roku called Pregame with Matthew Barry.
Starting point is 00:20:06 It's launching Monday. Congrats Matthew on that. As you know, I'm a big fan of pre-gaming. Thank you very much. So am I. And that's, that's going to be the theme of the show. The show is set in a bar. I mean, you see the backdrop behind me. We have a better set than this for the, for the Roku show. But it's on the Roku channel, 12 to 2 p.m. Eastern every single day, but it'll also be obviously on demand. Pretty much everyone either has a Roku TV or has a smart TV that has the Roku channel.
Starting point is 00:20:31 And if for some reason you don't have that, you can download it for free. So the show will air for free on demand. There'll be clips on the Matthew Berry YouTube channel. But I appreciate it, man. Like, I'm super excited about it. Like, you know, I'm a huge fan of what Dan and all of you guys do do on this show. And I think that if you watch this show and you enjoy this show, you will see some elements. Certainly the loose vibe will carry over to pregame with Matthew Berry. Is it an actual bar or is it a set that looks like a bar? It's a set that looks like a bar.
Starting point is 00:21:02 But, I mean, but we've got working taps. We've got working taps and everything like that. I mean, like, it's a, you know, so it's sort of a hybrid, if you will. Like, we've got working taps. There's an actual bar. in it. There you go. I mean, we also have cameras and yeah, we have cameras on a microphone, in microphones and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:21:18 As long as you're drunk for the show, I just wanted to say we started with Taylor Swift, you punctuated your segment with DeAndre Swift, and I wanted to go full circle. You were talking about Jonah Coleman. If Derek Coleman had made the free throws in 87, Keith Smart never makes the
Starting point is 00:21:33 national championship winning show. A thousand percent. Thank you, Dave. Derek Coleman's miss free throws drive me crazy to this day. And when I met Carmelo Anthony, when I met Carmelo Anthony for the first time, the first things I said to him, I said, thank you. And he said, for what? I said, well, I'm a Syracuse alum, and it is thanks to you and Hakeem Warwick, that I no longer, when they do one shining moment, when they do the montage at the end of the NCAA tournament, the Syracuse clip for years and years and years was Keith Smart, a thousand percent
Starting point is 00:22:04 from Indiana hitting the baseline jumper. And once Carmelho took over the team and Hakeem Warwick the ball from the Kansas. I forget who the Kansas guy that shot the three was, but was it Chalmers? I don't remember. But anyway. The iconic shot for sure of Warwick with that lean to challenge the shot. That's for sure. And that's the clip.
Starting point is 00:22:25 That's the Syracuse clip they always show now in the montage. So yeah. But I agree with you. Derek Kohn, that would have been good. That's why you're clever and smarter than I, Dave Damesh. That would have been a good tie together a thousand percent. That's it. Matthew Barry.
Starting point is 00:22:41 some free throws. Dave, how many questions about Arronda Gatson do you have? I just can't believe you guys? Is it your show? Can I just ask this very quickly? And then I'll get out of here. But is your show is it entirely a Taylor Swift hating show? Are you guys all anti-Swifting? No, no. On the balance
Starting point is 00:22:57 of things, we've generally been pro Taylor Swift, but that's just because of Jeremy. I don't know anything about her. They're saying that she lost her fast. Yeah, this is me saying it's been a beautiful run of Taylor Swift dominating the pop music world, but it's the end of It's the end of an era. She's not quite at the top of her game and I look forward to seeing her get back there someday.
Starting point is 00:23:16 Two, Marcus. All right. You're a Ronda. I don't know if I agree with that. Again, I haven't heard the most recent song or whatever, but like the fact is is that even if it's not for you, you will agree there is a massive, massive amount of people that are interested in her and more specifically her music. I got like 10 different alerts. I got 10 different push notifications yesterday that she announced a new song. Not a new album, not a new tour, a new song. Like, that's how insane that is. Like, I mean, think about that. Push notifications from major news organizations. Matthew Barry. Yeah. Anyway, I'm a Swifty.
Starting point is 00:23:53 I'm in on Taylor Swift. Matthew Berry. Matthew Barry. Matthew Barry. I got to do it again. Matthew Barry. Matthew Barry. Thank you, Matthew Barry.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Check out. Free game with Matthew Barry on Roku Channel, beginning. Monday, live noon to 2 p.m. Eastern and also on demand and also full episodes of fantasy football with Matthew Barry on Odyssey. Thank you very much, Matthew. Have a good week. Appreciate you guys. We'll see you next week. All right. Any more Rhonda Gadsden observations from Dave Damshed?
Starting point is 00:24:28 I'd love for me and Matthew Barry to go head to head in a Mr. Lister on Biggie's basketball players from the 80s. Oh. That would go on for about. Walter Barry. Walter Barry. I don't start with Walter Barry. That's what? Sherman Douglas. Still around.
Starting point is 00:24:46 The general. I don't know if Mike was still open. Yes, you are. Pearl Washington. There is. Easy head picnic. Howard Trish. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:25:00 All right. Get out of here, Matthew Barry. Yeah. Get out of here. Get out of here. Get out of here. All right. Edrius Gore.
Starting point is 00:25:12 I lost my... I don't like to reveal this, but we're trying to get into like, all right, let's get Matthews started with with the actual fantasy advice and Dave Damashet comes in with Ronnie Cycly. I bet Ronnie Cycly had a good child.
Starting point is 00:25:32 One of the funniest things ever uttered on the show. Ronnie Cycly. I couldn't even read the script. I couldn't even T-M-R-M-R-E-M-A. Let me hit the imaging again. Oh, no, no, go with the imaging. The best thing about Ronnie Cycly was that he was Greek.
Starting point is 00:25:51 And so he learned to speak English. I don't think he actually learned to speak English until he got stateside. But he was in New York. So he has a Greek accent, but also a New York accent when he speaks English, which is the best. I thought he's Lebanese. That might be so. But I think he holds a Greek passport. Had a good childhood, that's for sure.
Starting point is 00:26:14 A great childhood. That guy's rich. Cypriot. He was born in Beirut. Beirut. Bayrude. Beirut. At the age of 14 is when he moved to Athens.
Starting point is 00:26:28 There you go. So it's a little bit of both. There you have it. Is that enough Ronnie Cycley stuff for Damashak? I guess it is. I just wanted to say on behalf of me and Roy, we both have always known that Taylor Swift is fine. but Beyonce is better. Right, Roy?
Starting point is 00:26:43 That's correct, sir. Do you know what Ronnie Cycle's career high in rebounds is for a single game? It's a lot. Yeah, he had like one epic game. It was 34. Yeah. It's crazy. What?
Starting point is 00:26:54 Ronnie Seidley was like a good player. He was a glass eater, man. The idea that he is more famous as a DJ than he was as a player. It's kind of insane when you think about it. Did he also date Madonna or is that just John Sally? I think everyone dated. No one. I know Brian Shaw.
Starting point is 00:27:07 Brian Shaw dated. Dude, I dated Madonna in the 90s. Everyone dated. You did? That's what it was. I was too young. Just one of those things. My dad did, though.
Starting point is 00:27:15 He probably did, man. He was the heat career franchise leader in rebounds until Bam just passed him. Like he was that great when he was down here. Didonis wasn't ahead of? Nope. What? Not rebounds. What?
Starting point is 00:27:26 What? What? What? What? What? What? I done. Challenge.
Starting point is 00:27:34 That can't be right. That can't be right. I'm with my dad. That can't be right. The last seven. It was double doubles. It was double doubles. It was double doubles.
Starting point is 00:27:40 It was double doubles. It was double doubles. Banner double doubles Not redone. BAM's about to pass you Donis. You're doing Mr. and Heat basketball? It's by 40.
Starting point is 00:27:47 The Miami Heat, they play across the street. Do you even know? Just say it. This is why they let you go. Yeah, that's it. It's a shame. It was double doubles. I did the hit on it and everything.
Starting point is 00:27:56 Guys, the NBA has given us one of the great talking points that's coming up. There's a gambling segment that we're about to do right here. Everybody needs to fade everything come November. Because Stephen Adam
Starting point is 00:28:10 I don't know if you saw this. Stephen Adams, they had Media Day for the Rockets because they're playing overseas. And Stephen Adams said every player is going to have a bad November because GTA 6 comes out. And the irony is, as, oh, we got the clip, let's take a listen.
Starting point is 00:28:29 You guys should anticipate November. The performance of the league, league-wide. GTA is dropping. So I'd look at NFL Look at all the leagues And watch them plummet, mate Just for the month of November Performance is going to go down
Starting point is 00:28:49 It should come back up though Most of the boys will get it done But hopefully they finish game Coaching as well, by the way The coaching scouts are going to be horrendous Just for November But it should bounce back in December hopefully Yeah, should be good
Starting point is 00:29:01 The irony is I was sitting on my couch Going to my PlayStation Going to the games and you've got to add GTA 6, you know, do the pre-download or whatever. And I thought to myself, oh, man, like, I'm going to be so unproductive in November. Like 1,000. What he's saying, it never occurred to me that this would, like, impact other people. I just thought, I'm just going to be the people who's sitting around playing GTA all the time.
Starting point is 00:29:28 You're going to play the game first because I'm, whenever those open world games come out, I don't even care about the games. I just want to, you know, just explore. You don't want, oh, you got to do. I tell you why you got to do. the missions. You got to do the missions because that's how you get all the cool stuff. I just want my guy to go out there and goon. What? Just goon. Nah, man. I just want to kill time. I want to like pop up to a flanigans and then just do I get touch tunes in the game. I just want to do what I usually
Starting point is 00:29:55 do, but through a video game. It was wild the other day because they put the welcome to vice city sign on top of Casay Center. I think it was like Monday or Tuesday this week. I was walking to the parking garage and I saw a helicopter just hovering over. the arena and I was just like what in the world is going on and that's what's going on. I assume in the game on Kasea Center you'll see Welcome to Vice City. Yeah. Possibly. Yeah. I can't wait.
Starting point is 00:30:19 It's just it's so incredible how much time they've spent like mapping out this city because they want it to look exactly like real life Miami. There's something crazy about this. First of all, the idea that it went from loosely based on cities like Liberty, Liberty, city in Los Santos or whatever to, oh no, it's going to be down to, like, you go down the corner and there's the L, sir, and, and man, who knows, maybe Dan will be in a convertible, right? I'm an ally. I love, I love GTA, man, and I, and you know what, I'm one of those people, I don't like GTA online play.
Starting point is 00:30:58 You know, some people go out and they do all this like, I'm like, I don't want to. I'm with Mike. I want to walk around the city, punch the occasional person in the face. I love that. Just keep it moving. Boom. When I... But now, now they say, like...
Starting point is 00:31:13 Like, they're tightening up on that. So if you do that, everyone around you starts to react. No, they just run. It's usually they just start running away. React. I'm trying to cause a scene. They're going to get their phone out. Yes.
Starting point is 00:31:26 The new one, they're going to react. They're going to be there. They're going to be like, oh, my God, this guy just ran by going, yeah, that's what I'm going for. Like, it used to be they would just run away and how it's, no, there's like, there's, Things are going to happen when you do that. A chain, yes, I love a chain reaction. I would just play. As soon as the game would start, I would hit the code for the helicopter,
Starting point is 00:31:44 and the helicopter just appears out of nowhere. It's all right, let's go for a little ride. Go to a top of the building and start picking people off. When Red Dead Redemption 2 came out, I had a cubicle in the studios in L.A., and I literally brought my PlayStation, and I left it in the cubicle. And daily, I would go, I would do the jump, I would do Sports Nation.
Starting point is 00:32:09 And then when I was done like around 2 o'clock or whatever, from 2 o'clock to like 8, I'd just be in my cubicle playing. Like it would get dark, the lights would go out and people would go. I knew I was bad when I see like the Stan Verrett Sports Center about to start. I'm like, holy shit, I've been here a while. Just playing, just riding around, shooting people. Oh, my God. I love, you know what, Rockstar?
Starting point is 00:32:33 I'd like to toast you. We'll do a second quervo toast. I'm going to do a second quervo toast, man. Let's do it. To rock start. You guys make great deal. Starting point is 00:33:59 I'm the kind of guy that spends a lot of time preparing for the show. Over the weekend, I gather a lot of stats on the college football and NFL weekends to come in prepared. I work on my bad jokes. I work on songs. I don't want to also spend time standing in front of my closet trying to figure out what I'm going to wear every single day. And that's why all of my quince staples have become a really important piece of my wardrobe. My quince sweater is ridiculously soft. It's comfortable.
Starting point is 00:34:26 It looks put together. Quince makes its sweaters with 100% Mongolian cashmere starting at just 60%. bucks. They also offer premium down jackets, classic wool outerwear for when the temperature drops, or here in Miami when our studio air conditioning becomes a bit aggressive. You guys can hear it in the background. I know you can. I've edited it at the audio. Everything is priced 50 to 80% less than similar brands because Quince works directly with ethical factories and cuts out the middlemen. It's high quality stuff. All of these are my favorite pieces of my wardrobe. I use Quince and you should too. Find your next fall favorites at Quince. Download the Quince app for
Starting point is 00:35:01 exclusive offers or go to quince.com. Get free shipping on your order and 365 day returns. Now available in Canada and the UK too. And when Quince asks where you heard about him, let him know it was the Dan Levitard show. It's the best way to support the show. Tony, you know that moment at a party or at a tailgate where everything just sort of clicks? I know it well.
Starting point is 00:35:23 It's usually when I show up. Everybody goes crazy. Yeah, you usually take all the credit for it. But it's because Tony usually walks in with Quare. I'm walking like this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Quervo is a thing that turns hanging out into this is the night. It has that effect on people.
Starting point is 00:35:37 It does. You usually take the credit for it. But again, it's the Quervo effect. It's like that moment in a big game where everyone in the crowd just starts standing up, hooting and hollering. Keep it quervo. Keep it quervo, baby. Dan Levitar. I'll go with this one.
Starting point is 00:35:53 Dave Demich. It is come time now. This is the Dan Levitar show. And if you would like to make a kick. on totals and whatnot. You can check out the new Draft King Sports that is available in all 50 states. Dave Damashek, you will really appreciate this story.
Starting point is 00:36:21 So when I was working in a front office, when you go on scouting trips, you will go and you sit down with like, sometimes the head coach, sometimes you sit down with the director of basketball ops or whatever. You ask questions, whatever. And so on my pit visit, and obviously I know who's on their roster.
Starting point is 00:36:37 And so I sat down with their guy, and I said, So, like, what do you guys think about, like, pros on your team? And they named... Sam Young, Dewan Blair, things of that nature. This was after those guys. This was in 2000... This was when Stephen Adams was on the team.
Starting point is 00:36:50 And so they named, he named, like, a bunch of guys that were not pros. And I'm like, what about the big New Zealand kid, the big Kiwi? And I'm like, what are you talking about, man? What are you talking about? And this is what some colleges do. They try to hide players. Like, oh, this guy's not. He's not.
Starting point is 00:37:09 He's a law. ways away. He's a project. I'm like, he's your best player. What are you talking about? Guy goes lottery after that, by the way. You can't hide him from me. I know about him. That's why I'm here. That's why I'm here. That's your pit-pad. And a number of projects as underclassmen who developed indiviable, at least college, bigs, low post guys. Yeah, he was a part of a run of those. By the way, I have to take a hard right turn back to fantasy football. And we talked about the Chargers and the bills. Mike Ryan, at least. will perhaps be interested in this.
Starting point is 00:37:43 How about the fact that we got Josh Allen v. Justin Herbert? No last names to be found. All first names, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert. And by the way, one little nugget for you. I like Justin Herbert's chances in fantasy at least. Will they win the game? I don't know. But the bills have been crummy, low-key against the pass.
Starting point is 00:38:04 And I think that Harbaugh and otherwise realize we're trying to be a run. first team, but we don't have the pieces to be a run first team. We have to cut Justin Herbert loose. I think they will. I think he puts up a big day. I don't know if they win or lose, but I think he's big in fantasy. You know who else is in that game, Dave? Arronda Gadsden. That's right. Oh, my God. Have you seen the size of Arrondi Gadsen's hands, senior? Not junior. Yeah, his hands. Yeah. There's stuff of legend when Orande played down here for the Miami Dolphins. Right. And I've, I've had the pleasure of shaking those hands.
Starting point is 00:38:41 It's a mitt, right? Yeah, it's a catcher's mitt. It's crazy. It's a first basement's gloves. I hate that. I hate shaking someone's hand and got big hands because it just engulfs your hand and then I don't know where I go
Starting point is 00:38:52 from here. Yeah, it's two tablets. It's the size of an iPad. How can I look my children in eyes after my hand has been swallowed by... Hand-monged. Yeah. Just girthy.
Starting point is 00:39:02 I don't know. The hand disappears. You got a fist bump, right? Like if Yonis comes through, I'm not dapping that dude up. Fist bump. When I talked to Bobby Portis, me and him dapped up, I was like, oh, my bad fam. That's bad, man.
Starting point is 00:39:15 There's no way to walk away and feel like, yeah, I'm okay. It's fine on a dab. It's just not with a handshake. No, on a dab too, man, you feel it because when you get, when you interlock the fingers and do one of these moves, you feel like where your hand is on his hand. You're like, whoa. But that's not as bad as a handshake. It's the more reasonable way to get away with it. Like that, you just have to present from there at the beginning.
Starting point is 00:39:38 That was wild. Jeremy, how. My manslaughter is more of the vehicular variety. Just greening through the street. Yeah, just out of the way. But picking people off. Jeremy, how long does it take for you, or did it take for you, to transition from handshake to dapp with a new player?
Starting point is 00:39:58 Ooh, that's a great question. Because the first time you meet them, you're not dapping. No, not immediately. Yeah, that's a great question. I think it depends on the player. It depends on their demeanor. Like I want to meet them where they're at. It's a new player.
Starting point is 00:40:12 A brand new player is a handshake right away. Like from the jump. It's a handshake off the bat. Like that's the first time. But it depends on how many conversations we have. Have I had a more off the record conversation where we just kind of get to know each other? Have I had them on a podcast as opposed to just meeting them on the broadcast? No, but that's my point is that's how you start breaking down those walls.
Starting point is 00:40:33 Because once I've had a conversation that's more than the three questions on the court and we're talking in, either the locker room or we're talking in the clubhouse, if it's baseball. We actually get to know each other. Like that's how you get to DAP level with Jacob Marcy. When I do NBA radio live from location, like Summer League, they book us like a million guests. All these players, they come in, they sit at the table, we do the interview, and then they leave. And so for a lot of these players, when they're done, they're like, oh, thanks a lot, and they'll shake hands. And I go for the DAP.
Starting point is 00:41:05 And I would say probably a strong, 75, 80% of the time, it's. just adapt. They know what takes up. That's one where you should. But then every once in a while I get the guy who tries to give me the handshake while I'm trying to adapt. And that's weird because older player, younger player? It's usually younger players. Really? Usually the younger players. Right? Like the older players, like
Starting point is 00:41:25 the vets and like certainly the guys who are retired, that's a dab man. Well, because they're trying, the young guys are trying to be formal with you. That's right. Somebody's in their ear about being professional. What is hurtful is that I bet Tashay's been on the side of this too is you're with some colleagues or otherwise and they get the Dap and then the player turns to you and he gives you a handshake,
Starting point is 00:41:50 which is meant to whether they mean to or not. What it indicates is he thinks I'm a square. Yep. Right, Tashay? Yeah. They sense the Jew. They're like, oh, look at this. I'm going to give him a regular handshake.
Starting point is 00:42:02 He's not dappable. What do they sense? And it hurts my feelings when it's happened. Put that one in the poll? Um, no, I ironically, and this might be a giant shock to all of you, I'm normally the one on the other side of that. I'm the one that gets the dapp while a colleague doesn't. More often than not. Which colleague?
Starting point is 00:42:20 Name names. I mean, at both locations, I think you can just make your assumptions on where that would be. Jason Jackson. Jason Jackson's always getting a dab. Jason Jackson, he's getting a dab no matter where he goes. Okay. That's Jacks. Jay Jackson, if you're nasty.
Starting point is 00:42:35 Jason Jackson, Jay, Jacks, if you're not. nasty. All right. Vanity license plate. Jay J-Jax? Yeah. No. Oh, what?
Starting point is 00:42:45 Is that shocking to you? What? Jay J-Jax has a vanity plate? What? I see it as J-J-J-J-J-J-X-N-S-T-Y. Oh, that would be great. Like a long one, you know what I mean? Did California have like emojis or, not emojis, but like symbols?
Starting point is 00:43:00 You can have a heart in your license plate in California. Yeah, don't look at that. Don't do anything over there. I don't like that. What else is next? Hearts and the license plates. It's meant for numbers, letters. Let the cops know where you are.
Starting point is 00:43:16 If I gave you guys the gamut of SNL alums and said, which one of these guys you think is the best hooper? Who would you pick? Wow. No, everyone. All time. Garrett Morris and four. Sandler.
Starting point is 00:43:36 You say Samler? Well, I know he can hoot. All right. So, I mean, that's a great submission. I would think he's won. Bill Hader's really tall. Kim Kazerinsky. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:43:48 You think Garrett Morris can play basketball? I'm saying, like, starting from like... From the early days. I got a feeling Chevy Chase can hoop. Chevy Chase, no. You don't think he can hoop? No, I think he's just tall. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:00 If we're doing lacrosse, Colin Jost. Yeah. I feel like Chris Farley was probably like Mike Rhyme. where he was a combination of Prime Dennis Rodman. That's why I see Will Ferrell. High point, elbow, elbow, elbow. Bill Bill Farrell was his high school basketball captain, but he said he averaged a point a game.
Starting point is 00:44:17 High point, elbow, elbow, outlet. I just seen him as Jackie Moon. Chris Farley was a rugby player, collegiate rugby player at Market. Of course he was. So, no, the answer, guys, is Jason Siddakis. All the clip from all the smoke. Exactly Jason, Jason, Lance?
Starting point is 00:44:31 Get the fuck out of here. No, for real. Like, my dad got me. the Pete Marevich homework basketball tapes. Really? Out of Street and Smith. I got to see this. Like crazy.
Starting point is 00:44:42 Oh, wow. What year in high school are you? 94. Okay. So you're at 96. Six. And I'm eight. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:48 Okay. So, I mean, that was, when Jason Lane, you know, was on the Kings, I would get phone calls in defense going. Have you seen this guy playing like you? No way. That was, I would, my coaches hated me. Yo. Have you seen this guy playing like you?
Starting point is 00:45:04 Think about. Oh, wait. You're saying this. A whopper. No, you can tell he's got moves. He played Jucco. So he played Jucco basketball. Have you seen this guy playing like you is a lie?
Starting point is 00:45:15 But Tony, think about it, right? You let's, like, you're a shooter, right? Everyone knows it. I did the Jay Will thing in a game once, and it was a pickup game, it was awesome.
Starting point is 00:45:25 The elbow pass? Yeah, dude, that's a thing. You didn't do that. It's a whopper. I swear to God, I did it. With jalapinos. I wasn't there that day. I wasn't there that day.
Starting point is 00:45:34 No, no, it was when I was younger. It was one, Jay Will was like because he was white. Ah, yeah. So the thing about Sadecas, where I'm like, because he played high school in Kansas City. And Kansas City at that time in the 90s had like a run. It was a very, very tough basketball competitive environment.
Starting point is 00:45:54 Like Earl Watson and the Rush Brothers and all those guys came out of Kansas City at the same time. And so I'm inclined to believe him. Like he's, I've seen them. Me too. seen him play at the celebrity game. He clearly plays basketball. He wears good shoes and you can tell he's got moves from the what's up with that.
Starting point is 00:46:13 Jason Williams. Ooh, a lefty stroke. So Tony, if you had never seen Jason Williams. I call that the stranger. But like you play with somebody who's flashy like that and he says it. In the interview it's longer he says like his coaches hated him right because
Starting point is 00:46:29 he would not make a regular pass. He's like, why would I throw a regular pass? And I could yeah. Like everything had pizzazzed. to it, right? So you grow up with this guy, you play with him, and, you know, oh, that's just Jason or whatever. And then one day, you're watching TV and there's a rookie who's white and playing like that. Of course you'd be like, yeah, that guy plays like you. It's not like, oh, you're as good as he is or anything like that. I guess with no social media, everything was smaller. You only had access to your local runs and see who was doing what. So maybe I guess at
Starting point is 00:47:01 that point, be like, hey, this guy plays kind of like how you play. But then like, there's levels to what Jason Williams was. was able to do on a court versus what somebody else was able to do on a court. So like you, sure, okay? It just feels like a bit of a waverting. This guy's playing like you. He has a little bit of a Ho-Kogan cap. Like, it's okay. Like I did the past once. It's all right.
Starting point is 00:47:18 I think we all have comps, right? Like Mike's comp is what, Dennis Rodman and Prime Dennis Rodman, Mitchell Robinson. Instead of always going High Point, elbow, elbow outlet, sometimes I go high point, elbow, Jason Williams elbow.
Starting point is 00:47:34 Chris, what's your comp? Ginger Jason Capono Shooter Huh Hey, likes to pick them off You know what A little aggressive by me Jason Capono
Starting point is 00:47:47 Has one of my favorite quotes In the history Of basketball Go on So Jason Capono famously Was the second round pick Despite going on the final four With UCLA and all that stuff
Starting point is 00:47:56 And he said If my name was Jason Coponovich I would have been a top five pick Oh That was like deep in the Like they're drafting all the heroes So Yaka Vajara Yeah
Starting point is 00:48:06 Chad disagrees. The stranger is when you sit on your hand and it makes it go to sleep, but I always thought it was either or. I thought both applied. No, no, no. Stranger is when your hand has gone numb. What's it called when it's the left? When you're doing your offhand?
Starting point is 00:48:22 Yeah. Offhand. Offhand. There you go. Really? Yeah. Why would I lie about doing the J-Will thing? It does feel.
Starting point is 00:48:30 Why would I lie about that? It feels like a whopper. I'm inclined to believe you more than I am Jason Sedakis. It's one of the coolest things I've ever done. I'm not a good basketball player. You did it in-game? Yeah, I did a pickup player. No, man.
Starting point is 00:48:41 I have big hands. I'm a good passer. No way. I do behind the back passers all the time. Let me see those hands. I've done the Scott Skyles 360 behind the back and wrap it back around and throw it to the side you're looking at. You know, remember when Scott Schild did they?
Starting point is 00:48:56 That's believable. That's, that's, that is a typical flashy pickup ball move. By the way, we got Sadecas right here at the garden. first shot knocks it in. Paused. Yeah. Let's put it on the screen. Look at him.
Starting point is 00:49:11 All right. Now he turns the hat backwards. Most important thing. Yeah, that's how you know. Travel. Travel. No, that's a sweet jumper. That's a sweet jumper.
Starting point is 00:49:18 That's what? That's not DJ Callet. That's a guy that he plays basketball. But, but Dave, to your point, like that's past, that Scott Scott's Scott Scott's pass, that's a typical playground move. What Mike is suggesting is that, In game, he was coming on the break, bounce, elbow pass to the side. Number one, that's 100% of turnover.
Starting point is 00:49:43 Number two, everyone on your team hates you. There's no, there's no. Hates you. Like, someone did that. I'm not against flashiness. I'm just saying, like, dog, what are you doing? What are you doing? Speaking of what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:49:58 What are we doing here? This is the wrong context. Viral de contextualization. You know who the best SNF, alum is going to be to play basketball. Marcello? Jalen Brunson. He's hosting this weekend. That doesn't count.
Starting point is 00:50:12 Doesn't count. That's going to be cool, right? Doesn't count? It's going to be fun. Hasn't Jordan hosted twice already. All right, so we'll put together a team. That's at least your point guard. Week three has some massive matchups. Falcons Packers on Thursday night, Bengal Steelers, Ravens Cowboys from Brazil and Eagles Bears on Monday night.
Starting point is 00:50:32 I just went to the Bill's home opener. And GameTime helped me get in that stadium. And it was one of the biggest games of the week. The experience reminded me that as much as I love watching football, nothing compares to being in the barn. That's why I use GameTime. I can see panoramic views from my seat before I buy. The price shown includes all fees. So what you see is what you pay, period.
Starting point is 00:50:53 Game Time also has zone deals. You choose a section. Game Time chooses the seats and you save money. Again, create an account and use code D-A-N for $20 off. Tony, you know that moment at a party or at a tailgate where everything just sort of clicks.
Starting point is 00:51:27 I know it well. It's usually when I show up. Everybody goes crazy. Yeah, you usually take all the credit for it, but it's because Tony usually walks in with Quare. I'm walking like this. Yeah, yeah, Yeah, Cuervo is a thing that turns hanging out into this is the night. It has that effect on people. It does. You usually take the credit for it. But again, it's the Cuervo effect. It's like that moment in a big game where everyone in the crowd just starts standing up, hooting and hollering.
Starting point is 00:51:53 Keep it quervo. Keep it quervo, baby.
