Starting point is 00:00:00 When it comes to technology, we have so much concern about China and Russia and our adversaries and what they're doing and how we need to counter them. I have absolute confidence that we can and will. You know, there's only one country in the world that can parallel park a 200-foot rocket booster. The Chinese can't do it. The Russians can't do it. We do it and we do it in part because of the great... collaboration we have and can have a need to deepen between the private sector where there's so much innovation and ingenuity in the space of emerging technologies. And I'm committed as CIA director if allowed to expanding upon that. So that's John Radcliffe. I like him as CIA director.
Starting point is 00:00:50 I think he's a really good pick. And remember, he was one of the only people that was like really sounding the alarm on the laptop. Remember all of that in the very beginning? It was also cloak and dagger. And we had John Ratcliffe on. We had a Nunez on. We had a lot of people on talking about that, like when all that happened. And it was just so cloak and dagger, it was just, it was kind of crazy.
Starting point is 00:01:21 But he's such a good pick. And he made such a great point. Who else can parallel park a, rocket. And that is true. I mean, it simultaneously scares the hell of me when I see it because it's so weird looking. But then it also is actually, you know, pretty cool that we can do that. And of course, this kicks off one of the larger conversations that we're going to have today as it pertains to the banning of TikTok. This is such a big discussion and it's so nuanced. And we're going to talk, we're going to talk about it here coming up throughout the program.
Starting point is 00:01:59 We also, later on in the program, we're going to talk with John Cornyn, and we're also going to talk with Senator John Cornyn and Congressman Jim Jordan. And Cornyn, he's got a concealed carry bill that he's pushing for. We're going to get into all of that because I'm just curious as to this legislation. So we've got a lot to hit. Welcome to the program, Dana Lash, with you at the top of this first hour. and that's the big, that's the big, that's the big, that's the big issue because the Supreme Court has, well, they've, they've made a ruling in this, in this TikTok. I don't, I'm not on TikTok. I just, and I'm so glad that I'm not because it's shutting down Sunday.
Starting point is 00:02:45 And regardless, whatever Trump does with it, there's at least going to be some time where it has to be off the app store. So because of the, because of the Supreme Court, and it was a nine O. decision, which is really weird. I mean, not weird in that it's never happened, but it's really, really unusual that it was a full 9-0 ruling. That, I mean, every single justice. So they upheld the previous ruling as it pertains to TikTok being available in the United States. And they did so through a national security consideration. It's a NATSEC issue. And I understand the arguments made by those who say that it should be banned.
Starting point is 00:03:37 I completely understand that argument because it's a national security issue. We've talked to Stephen Yates, who is, he is a foremost expert. There are a lot of talking heads out there about this. Stephen Yates was, you know, buried in Southeast Asia. I mean, he's lived and worked over there. He knows China extensively. He's counseled two separate presidential administrations in addition to a lot of other government folks. So he knows the issue.
Starting point is 00:04:04 And he, I agree that it is dangerous brainwashing. China refused to disengage and de-invest TikTok from BiteDance. They wouldn't sell it. They wouldn't sell it because they know it. it's a surveillance apparatus. But, but, but, but there's a giant butt coming. Shut up, Kane, you're five years old.
Starting point is 00:04:26 I get it. I totally get it. A Natsack issue. And this is a foreign entity. This is a foreign adversary who is using this as a sci-op tool in the United States just to put it as, you know,
Starting point is 00:04:41 simply as possible. I totally get that. I also get how this legislation is overly broad and can be weaponized later on down the road to shut down companies that the United States deems to be a national security threat. And so this is where I think the Patriot Act, a lot of us were coming up into adulthood and into politics when the Patriot Act was passed. yours truly included. And it always,
Starting point is 00:05:19 the thing that always stuck in the back of my mind with that was Ben Franklin's quote. You know, if you think that you can give up liberty for some security, you deserve neither, because you will not get either. And that makes sense. Because I think everyone is sort of freaking out right now. And I get it.
Starting point is 00:05:40 Because you've had a really weak administration. It's an administration that hasn't prioritized national security. It's an administration that allowed all these balloons, these spy balloons to fly through the atmosphere. We have this drone issue. Notice how we never got an issue about the drones or an answer. It just went away. We literally never got any answers about drones. It was just speculation. And then the story just literally just legit disappeared. I said literally too many. I hit my quota. But you get it. I mean, it is literally. It just, poof, it's out of the headlines. So I get why people want to immediately react to this. But I think everybody needs to take a breath because, yes, everything I've just said is true.
Starting point is 00:06:25 You can have two different analyses of this issue and they are both correct. But there's, yeah, you know, there's a big giant however in this. You always have to err. on the side of more freedom and less regulation. If you don't know the answer, then don't do it. If you don't know how it's going to turn out, then don't do it. I don't like TikTok and I loathe the CCP. But I also realize that the CCP is not the only entity that's spying on us.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Our federal government spied on us. And I'm not saying this to, we literally have a guy who's running the auditing department of the government now. who was creating a database of everybody who got the vaccine and was going to track it in a giant database. And he ran for president on the Republican side and is super popular amongst Republicans. I'm not saying that to be mean. I'm just saying that some people's perspectives might be a little skewed.
Starting point is 00:07:31 I mean, you either hate surveillance entities and products that are designed for surveillance or you want to make the people behind them, president of the United States. I mean, you know, I just don't know. And like I said, I realize it's not just the CCP that's spying on us. It's our own damn government that's spying on us. The FBI was using the first thing we messed up, the Patriot Act, to spy on parents, parents, people who would like go to Walmart and pick up dog food and pick up their kid from, you know, football practice or baseball practice or cheerleading or whatever.
Starting point is 00:08:08 And they would go to the parent-teacher meetings and do all. this. Well, they got very upset. That age inappropriate material was being presented to their children through a taxpayer-funded library without parental consent. And when they spoke up about it, they were tagged as domestic terrorists. The dad whose daughter was raped, was raped, like actually raped in a bathroom by a male student who decided he wanted to be female for a while. That guy was considered a domestic terrorist by the FBI. Oh, the FBI doesn't like it. They think it's bigoted if parents want to keep their kids from getting molested. How bigoted are you? These parents are labeled. The government surveilled them.
Starting point is 00:08:53 I, as I said, no, it's not just the CCP that is spying on us. As a firearm owner who has once, who was once declared by a sitting member of the House of Representatives to be a domestic terrorists, a terrorist along with all of you terrorists. I've covered the stories where you would have the ATF show up an actual legitimate, you know, legitimate gun shows. People who are not doing anything wrong, taking plate numbers. So the federal government only dislikes surveillance when they're not the ones doing it. And I don't want to hear, I can already hear some contrarian building up an argument, but the United States isn't the CCP.
Starting point is 00:09:35 And that's the point. We're trying to keep it from being that way. Now, the tricky issue in this whole debate centers on the fact that it's China. Now, I agree with both of these positions for and against the legislation. I also don't think that foreign entities should be afforded any consideration of our republic's rights. I don't think you're, you're, they're a foreign entity from a foreign adversary. I think that our federal government, should be able to tell them no. So there's the one little wrinkle in all this. Because the CCP hates you. They would love to see you subjugated. They would love to see what was the line from Conan the Barbarian? My enemy is right before me, you know, blah, blah, blah, all that. They would love to see that. It's a CCP. There's a, the Republicans are not even on the same page on this, and this is a major problem. I get that everybody's so eager to flex and
Starting point is 00:10:41 either show their muscles or show their ass on social media. You know, everybody's thirsty for clicks now that it's all been monetized and incentivized. And everyone is an insufferable individual brand. I get it. But it's one thing when you have an epic but ton of elected officials out there saying, oh my gosh, this is so bad. It's so bad. We shouldn't have the CCP.
Starting point is 00:11:03 We can't have the CCP on this. This is just so bad. We can't. They can't be able to operate in here like this. And then the vice president of China. is attending the inauguration. The CEO of TikTok is going to be actually on the dais, not even an actual American,
Starting point is 00:11:20 but somebody who's from the geopolitical foe is going to be on the dais. I mean, there are some of you who aren't even going to be on the dais, but CCP people are going to be on the dais. And there's been a proposed reduction in tariffs from 60 to 10% against China. So they're not on the same page. And you have the president himself who used to dislike TikTok, but now he's a big supporter of it. No one's on this same page, so no one knows what to do.
Starting point is 00:11:53 Republicans are all over. They're all over the place on this. Predictably, I have never seen any party so damn stupid and so eager to throw its own self under the bus. We talk about the idiocy of the Democrats, and it's deserved. but we have to for one moment in the name of accountability as your God-given right as an American taxpaying citizen talk about the stupidity of the GOP for a moment. This is all over the place. They hate China.
Starting point is 00:12:27 They love China. They hate China. They love China. They hate TikTok. They love TikTok. Would you like to be on the dais for the inauguration? I'm confused. We're going to talk to Jim Jordan about all of this.
Starting point is 00:12:41 Like I said, I'm not. I understand all of these arguments. it's very rare that I meet an issue that I've read so much about and I've followed it and I've been waiting until this decision for us to throw ourselves into it. And I see, but there's the little wrinkle that I mentioned. I mean, it's the CCP. Why the hell should I give communists any consideration? Why? This is just really weird.
Starting point is 00:13:09 So the Republicans are not at all unified on this. We're going to talk more about it. Also, coming up, oh boy. there's a hit piece that came out from the Guardian. It's a dumb hit piece. And they decided they were going to try to make up some stuff about, again, when does Donald Trump Jr. not have a story made up about him? We're going to talk about this piece.
Starting point is 00:13:31 We're also going to get into the Hollywood ambassadors. We have all of the latest with the hearings. Christine Noem was testifying before the Senate committee just a little bit ago. So we'll have all the latest on that, the latest with the fires. and then of course later on John Cornyn and Jim Jordan separately. We have a lot to get into, so let's move as we go towards headlines. And imagine a young woman facing an unplanned pregnancy, feeling alone and unsure of what to do. And she's searching for hope. And that's where pre-born ministries comes in. You can make a difference for just $28. Your generosity can be the key to a mother
Starting point is 00:14:04 choosing life for her baby. And with your gift, you will receive the story of a mom who chose life as well as the ultrasound image of her precious baby. And like the story of Kelsey, who found pre-born and after hearing her baby's heartbeat, she chose life. Consider making a larger, life-changing donation of $5,000, $10,000 or $15,000. Maximize your gift that can help women in unplanned pregnancies, receive ultrasounds, and even help place an ultrasound machine in a women's center. Donate for the gift of life.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Just dial pound 250 and say the keyword baby. That's pound or hashtag 250. baby or visit preborn.com slash Dana to donate online. Every contribution counts. So again, that's pound 250, say the word baby or donate securely at preborn.com slash Dana. And now, all of the news you would probably miss. It's time for Dana's quick five. All right. So first and foremost, inauguration temperatures are going to be the lowest since 1985. Everyone's like, are you going to DC? I don't need to be seen on stage with politicians. I don't need to do any of that to keep my influence or relevancy. In fact, I think it hurts me when, if I do. And I hate cold weather. And I don't like DC traffic.
Starting point is 00:15:21 All of those things conspire. That's why I'm not going. Also, we're going to be a shot show. But they said it's the lowest since 1985. And they're actually moving the swearing in process inside. They're not going to be doing it all outside. So I don't know what that's going to look like. I've never seen that. The last, the only other time that I read that this was done, I think Newsweeks, or not Newsweek, I think it was Axios that said that it was Reagan who did it. And I was like a baby. So I don't remember that.
Starting point is 00:15:48 But, so I don't know what that looks like. So that's going to be kind of interesting to see. Also, there's New York City mayor gets his eyebrows done. He got them threaded. Why? As like a way to show, I don't know. He decided to clean up too and I guess give some business. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:04 I just don't think of man needs to get his eyebrows thread out. There's a million things that you could do, dude. Let's see. Wall Street thinks U.S. homes are overpriced and that's wild because we've all thought that for a very long time. We have a lot more on the way. Stick with us because we've got everything. Inaguration stuff. TikTok so much more coming. With everything going on in the world right now, the economy, conflicts, the open border spiraling national debt, the devastating inflation, it's critical that you have a plan for diversifying and protecting your savings. And that's why so many, including myself, have turned to precious metals like gold and silver. to help protect our savings.
Starting point is 00:16:39 And I've partnered with the top-rated precious metals company Goldcoe to make that happen. It's a great company with a great reputation and they could not have made the process any easier. And right now, Goldco is offering a free gold and silver kit that will show you how precious metals can help protect and diversify your savings. And for my audience, they're offering up to a 10% instant match in bonus silver on qualified orders. All you have to do is visit Dana likes gold. to get started today. Starting point is 00:17:21 Keep your finger on the pulse with a Dana Show podcast, delivering timely news with insightful analysis, whenever you want straight to you on YouTube, Apple, or wherever you get your podcasts. And look, the other thing, Lawrence, I got a lot of criticism understandably. We've invested more in red states than blue states. That's in this book. That's in this report. For two reasons. One, red states really screwed up in terms of the way they handle their economy and the way they handle manufacturing, the way they handle access to supply chains. You know, I remember being out in Iowa, and I remember one of the big issues was that there was a plant, a small plant,
Starting point is 00:18:07 for 300 people, been around for 70 years. My grandfather worked there. I work there. My son works there. And they had the best education system at the time. And they're the best state education system in the country. And all of a sudden, the kid comes home after a grader said, mom, I got to leave. There's no job from here.
Starting point is 00:18:25 The factory shut down. Well, guess what? How do you run a country that way? How do you do that? I'm so tired of this myth about the blue state, red state welfare scheme. I mean, this is assonine. And first off, welcome back to the program, Dana Lash, with you. That's going soon to be former, soon, soon, former President Biden.
Starting point is 00:18:48 Sorry, current for like another couple days. And that's it. Biden, who repeated this, I'm pulling up there on it. He repeated that, oh, yeah, red states really screwed up. You know, they get, you know, so much more. That's just, it's a lie, first off. I mean, it's a non sequitur. the revenue that's collected from state taxpayers, all of that stuff, that depends on state income and federal tax that's at a higher rate on filers with higher income.
Starting point is 00:19:15 So you have, there's a lot of stuff to look at this. Like, I was looking at this thing from the Mises Institute that was that they went and were comparing literally every state. A federal dollar, federal spending received for every dollar collected by state. And the data, first off, the data doesn't really back up that claim. One of the things that they noted was of the 50 states, there are a handful of red states that get some federal spending more so for their more spending than what their residents pay in federal taxes. But that's not a uniform thing across every red state. And it's, I mean, you have to get into a state-by-state comparison, which is what they did, looking at return on taxes paid, how much states are getting in federal spending for federal dollars, extracts. in those taxes, and they looked at the tax collections from each state as the IRS is reported.
Starting point is 00:20:10 And then they looked at the federal spending in each state. And they said that the overwhelming, you know, and looking at this, they put it all together. They said, like, for instance, federal spending in Minnesota amounted for like about 48 cents for every tax dollar extracted from the state. Mississippi received more than $3 for every tax dollar paid by residents. But contrary to the idea that most red states are like Mississippi, most states are actually much closer to the middle. The states that are within a few cents of receiving dollar for dollar include the Dakotas, North Carolina, Nevada, Wisconsin, Missouri, Utah, Maryland, Kansas, and Florida. California and Texas are approximately equal with each other, each receiving about 80 cents in
Starting point is 00:20:48 federal spending for every dollar paid by residents and taxes. And this is this stupid, false, you know, narrative. They have been trying to push for forever to fuel this blue state versus red state thing. And it's not. It definitely isn't. You have to also look at the balance of payment ratios. There's a lot of stuff that comes into this. And also they tax the hell out of their people. California, New York, does California, I think, hang on, let me look. I think California has a higher, sorry, tax rate. I was looking at this because I also know that they increased it as a Okay, so California, their income tax rate is 13.3. Hawaii is at 11. New York is at 10.9. New York is actually behind Hawaii in California. I'm actually shocked. I'm not surprised at Hawaii is so far out there. So I'm not, I'm really not surprised with that. Wow. 13.3%. That's insane. But also look at the deficit that California is running. I mean, you can, Biden can go and say this stuff in an interview, but why don't you also compare not. only the GDP of each state, but also, why don't you go and look at if they're in the red or in
Starting point is 00:22:07 the black? Look at how they spend their money. California wasted, what did we say they wasted? It was almost $13 billion. 13 billion for 12 years. That's like a billion dollars a year on a high-speed rail that they made, that they built less than a mile of. not even a mile. Was it a quarter of a mile? And it was an overpass. It wasn't even just like a rail that when you consider the spending. But they look at it like one of the things that they incorporate into this too is disaster spending.
Starting point is 00:22:45 So like hurricanes in Florida and things like that, they try to act like that's red states being irresponsible, which is assinine. I mean, low income states get more federal money than higher income states because of the means tested. federal poverty programs that they also have. And that also comes into it. There are a number of things that come into it. I don't know why he's still pushing this. I mean, it's a red herring of red state bailout because they don't understand apparently what federal bailout of states
Starting point is 00:23:20 actually looks like you're redistributing tax dollars from taxpayers in responsible states to states that refuse to make those choices, like the difficult decisions when, everything was good and they could absorb anything. It's just, it doesn't these, it's just such a stupidest thing. I'm going to put the misest thing. I'll put that in an email newsletter for subscribers. But it's just, I'm so tired of hearing this.
Starting point is 00:23:46 The other part of what he said, when he was talking about the blue state handling of their economy, well, North Carolina is governed by Democrats. Florida is governed by Republicans. North Carolina didn't have enough even in rainy day funds, apparently. from what has been reported to even begin handling some of this stuff in the manner that Florida was able to mobilize so quickly and have everything funded and have all the resources necessary. If you want to have a discussion about how states operate, I mean, we have a major ongoing lesson plan in how states operate. California doesn't even have enough money to put water
Starting point is 00:24:20 in their reservoirs, but you're going to use that as a model of more responsibility than a state like Florida, which was so completely overprepared that they were also able to form the bulk of response in a number of other states that were affected by the same disaster disaster disaster's hurricane that affected them and you're going to base it on like federal the federal and i just i it's it's frustrating to me there is an economic illiteracy i mean to get into i mean i don't want to go into it's by state by state but look when you look at the number at like for instance taxes taxes california looking at texas mississippi west virginia south carolina california this is from Rockefeller Institute of Government, a report that came out just a couple of years ago.
Starting point is 00:25:04 In federal taxes, Connecticut paid over 15,000. Massachusetts paid over 13,000. New Jersey paid over 13,000. New York, almost 13,000. California residents over 10. Mississippi, they were over five. West Virginia was over six. Kentucky was over six.
Starting point is 00:25:19 South Carolina paid about 6,500. And that is the amount of taxes that they're paying in. You also have to look at tax rates per state. There's a lot of stuff that goes into this. But, you know, all I hear about are blue states bitching that they pay more in taxes because they're too stupid to elect better officials. That's what it comes down to. Correct me if I'm wrong, Cain. But that's what it comes down to.
Starting point is 00:25:47 This, uh, I get, I get so aggravated. I'm people try to shame red states for being more financially responsible. Biden gave an interview. Is that his last interview? I don't think he's giving anymore. He's got to be at the inauguration. I don't know how he's going to sit through that. And then they do the whole,
Starting point is 00:26:08 it's the weird send-off when the incoming president meets the outgoing president, and then the outgoing president gets in the chopper and leaves. I remember when W, when that happened with the Obama's, and W got in the chopper and flew off.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Marine One was last time flew off. And the crowd there were, they were rude. They were ignorant. I will never forget that. And you don't have to like W or whatever. I hate when people are like, well, I don't like Georgia.
Starting point is 00:26:41 This is shut up. They're not about you. It's the fact that they were like booing and brain like donkeys. And heckling as he went and got in the chopper. It was so loud. It was you could, it was audible on all the coverage. Everybody could hear it.
Starting point is 00:26:59 Can you imagine if they, They did that to Obama. Oh my gosh. Can you imagine? By the way, there was an interview with Melania Trump. And she was talking about how awkward it was when they met the Obama's and they were going into the White House for the first time. Do you all remember the Tiffany box?
Starting point is 00:27:19 It was a, I think it was a Tiffany frame, not a cheap thing, that Melania Trump gifted Michelle Obama because she said in the lead up to that. optic, that handoff, they had tried to talk to the Obamas about the day of transition, because that's kind of normal for ingoing and outgoing couples to have that conversation. And apparently, according to her interview, Melania Trump said that Michelle Obama, they were not helpful. And that's one of the reasons why, you know, it's not custom to bring a gift and give it right there. But she didn't know that because she couldn't get any answers from anybody.
Starting point is 00:27:57 so she was just falling back on good manners. You know, that's what you, you give someone a gift. It's a partying gift, a houseworm, whatever, however you want to look at it. She was just falling back on good manners since she couldn't get any answers as to the protocol of exactly how that moment happens. And what is so frustrating is that even going back to W, W did that with the Obamas. They spoke about the protocol of that day. and what that handoff looks like. Because he, you know, for all the criticism against him,
Starting point is 00:28:31 he wanted it to be an easy transition. And he just thought it was petty, especially since they had young kids coming into the White House. It would have, that's petty and it's, and he just didn't see the point of it. But the Obamas didn't reciprocate when the Trumps came in. I mean, I know everyone sits here and talks about Obama and Trump being, you know, BFFs now
Starting point is 00:28:50 because they shared a laugh at a funeral of Carter. But I think some people are forgetting what, how really caustic and the animosity that existed when that handoff happened. So apparently that's why there was that weird moment with the gift. And when she handed it to Michelle Obama, Michelle Obama was, I thought she was kind of theatrical about it and that, oh, I don't know what to do with this. This is, I don't know. And then she ended up handing it off to Obama.
Starting point is 00:29:22 And I guess he handed it to an aide. but I just thought that it looked weird without any commentary when you watched it. It was weird to watch. Do you remember that, Kane? And apparently it was because they just didn't have time to have a discussion about protocol for that handoff with the trumps when it happened. Like no one was bringing them up to speed. That's just, that's a jerk move.
Starting point is 00:29:42 It's like Kamala Harris refusing to invite the vanses to the vice president's house, to even let their young kids see where they're going to be living and help make the transition easier. And then she bitches when she's asked about it, she sends out an aid to to wine and whinge. Oh, well, you know, Mike Pence didn't do that with us. And then Mike Pence, who for, look, Mike Pence will tell on himself. I do think he's an honest guy. I don't agree with him on everything. But I think sometimes he's insufferably honest. And he was even like, we extended to you multiple invitations. What are you talking about? I don't believe her for a second. And I don't believe for a second that the pincers didn't extend to them an invitation to do the same thing.
Starting point is 00:30:23 But even if, why does they give you license to be a jerk to the next person who had nothing to do with how you were treated under Pence? That is small bitch thinking. And it needs to be said in that exact terminology. I'm so tired of this stuff. I'm so tired of the pettiness from these people. Democrats get petty and then they turn around and they demand that Republicans act like saints. And while we should always have good behavior simply because it's the right thing to do,
Starting point is 00:30:51 It's easy to measure yourself against a Democrat. You're always going to come out on top. It's like when, what is it when Jesus said, it's easy to love people who don't love you or to love you, but it's harder to love people who don't love you. It's harder to be nicer to people who are not nice to you. So we should,
Starting point is 00:31:07 that's the standard we should be going for. That said, I'm so tired of these Democrats demanding that we expect you to abide by rules that we refuse to acknowledge. It's, they make something that is already stressful, more difficult because they just have to get a dig in. It doesn't matter. I cannot stand that.
Starting point is 00:31:30 So I don't know what the handoff is going to look like on this, right? This is going to be a weird moment. What is the Biden-Trump handoff going to look like? I don't know. I don't know. I got some, oh, that that's the moment that I'm waiting to see. Is just that. Just that. I'm waiting to see that. I have zero problem at all with using lethal force to protect myself or my loved ones. That said, I know that not everyone has the luxury of only going to guns or going to places that dispel the gun-free zone nonsense. There are some people who live in cities who work in areas where maybe they have firearms, but they're not allowed to carry them inside, you know, the workplace or in the city, et cetera. So this is considerate a way of diversifying your
Starting point is 00:32:17 weapons array. Because with the burn a gun, burn a gun doesn't care about gun-free zones. There's no waiting period. There's no background check. They send it right to your front porch. And when you compare the burner gun, if you're curious as to how it operates, with like a stun gun, a stun gun has one or two rounds. Burna has a five-round capacity of chemical irritant projectiles that can disable threats from up to 50 feet away. So that's a deterrent. and when you are disarmed from your 9mm or whatever it is that you carry, this is a good diverse option for you if you're not able to carry a firearm. Like I said, love my firearms, but I also like diversifying what I have in terms of self-defense.
Starting point is 00:32:59 And there's nothing wrong with that. This is the perfect time of the year. Everyone's all like New Year, New Me. I hate resolutions. I don't do them, but a lot of you do. If you're one out there looking at resolutions or maybe evaluating your self-defense options, visit burna.com slash Dana. That's BYRNA.com slash Dana.

Like Sands Through the Hourglass, so are the days of the United States. This is our last show of the Biden administration. Yeah, it's been a good run.
Starting point is 00:33:46 It's been a run, Joe. Thank you. Thank you for all your efforts. The next time you all see me, Donald Trump will be president, and you may not see me. Next four years. Next four years, we're taking this one day at a time. Don't threaten me with a good time. I mean, if we can't, you may not see me again.
Starting point is 00:34:09 Okay. He's one of the most insufferable annoying. He's not funny. when he first started, Stephen Colbert was funny. And then he just turned into this annoying dude. He's like the dude that you come across at a party who constantly wants to share his opinions and will not leave you alone, doesn't understand personal space and his breath's bad. Right? I think I got him pegged. Oh, maybe I shouldn't say that with him. But no puns. The, are you okay?
Starting point is 00:34:42 Yeah. Okay. The tone, like his tone even is just grading. but he he like traded funny to be just a jerk over politics that's not saying stupid stuff about politics doesn't make you a comedian it doesn't mean that you're funny i i don't understand his appeal i really don't like there are people who are on the left that are funny he's just not one of them i just i just don't get the appeal you know he makes probably millions of dollars for doing that show i can't i can't hardly play a clip of him on air i just I just tune out because it's never funny. He's just not funny.
Starting point is 00:35:23 He's not a funny guy. All right. So coming up, we've got a lot to hit. We're going to be speaking with Congressman Jim Jordan at the bottom of the hour. So there's the hostage negotiation, the reconciliation, there's all kinds of stuff. TikTok. And then after that, Senator John Cornyn, he's got a 2A bill. We're going to talk to him about that.

Starting point is 00:37:10 There's two things I'm proud of so far. I know they'll last. we changed the basic formula of how to make an economy work. The trickle-down stuff about, well, let the people go out and make a lot of money and the benefits who flow from that will trickle down to middle-class and working-class people. My dad would say, not a lot ever trickle down his kitchen table. Because he doesn't know how trickle-down economics work. What are you talking about? Do you not understand how it works? they think I love the left because they're so economically illiterate.
Starting point is 00:37:45 They're like, well, trickle down must mean it physically literally trickles down. It should be raining trickle down dollars on me like money at a strip club. So what it should be like? That's how the left thinks. Everything has to be. They're like a bunch of damn Amelia Biddealia's out there. You guys remember that story? You got to be real careful what you tell Amelia Bidelia because like AOC, she'll take it literally.
Starting point is 00:38:05 What do you mean put by my bit straps? My bit straps aren't that long. What? Oh my gosh. Welcome back to the show. We're at the top of the second hour. I just, whenever he talks about money, I just get mad. I can't help it. I'm tired of financing. I'm tired of providing welfare for Ukraine and paying the pensions of their oligarchs. I'm done. So welcome back to the program. Your lovable cremogen, Dana Lash here with you. This lovely Friday, it's going to be minus 11 degrees in Texas next week. And I'm, look, I would love to see. It'd be neat to see. I don't know if I'd love it. It'd be neat to watch an inauguration. but I feel like you watch it on the TV. It's the same thing. There is nothing that I love enough to go stand in the frigid cold like that and watch.
Starting point is 00:38:50 Not there's nothing because they're cold even like on a random average January day. It's freezing out there. And Steve, what's the temperature going to be Monday? Like negative 11 day, right? It's supposed to get snow Sunday and then it's supposed to the cold's coming in Monday. I think it's going to be like 15 or 16, something like that. Let me pull my phone. Not that low.
Starting point is 00:39:12 Probably like below. I don't even. I was here, like, potentially next week, some negative temperatures. It says, yeah. How in the world? During the ceremony, it's going to be 19 here. Low at, low as 10. Oh, my heavens.
Starting point is 00:39:26 That's below zero Celsius. I would be, I would look like a cult member. I would be wrapped up in the, what is the blanket jet? The blanket onesie. The snuggy? The snuggy. I would, dude, I'd be in a snuggy. You know, you can get like the little personal heaters.
Starting point is 00:39:42 I have a friend who when my youngest was playing soccer she, and I got the idea from her I watched her come to the soccer field one day. Yeah, soccer mom. And she set up a tent that was like smaller
Starting point is 00:39:58 and shorter than like a Johnny on the spot. And she put a fold she had a folding chair. It was like a single person tent. And it had a battery like a generator and it put heat in it. And she sat in her
Starting point is 00:40:12 little tent. I'm like only in Texas when I see this. And she sat there and I mean you could hear the noise and she sat away from where the coach was so you could talk to the players because it did make some noise. She sat there in her little it was the funniest thing and we could see her in her little windows in the tent. We could just see her sitting there all warm and hateful. Anyway my whole point in saying that is I would have to have that. You know like stick me in the little tent and I'll just sit there in the little tent and I'll look at you through my little plastic windows and I'll do that. That's the only way to do it. By the way, you can get them things on Amazon. Oh, believe, your girl has researched it. It's just really difficult to find it not made in China. Like the closest one
Starting point is 00:40:52 I could get was like part, something made in, like the tent was made in Vietnam and you could get some, like the parts of the, that make it run in Taiwan. And that's like as close, which is good. That's as close as I could get. But most everything, it's all made, everything in China. Like almost everything on Amazon's made in China. Share that link with me. Where would you wear that? Where would you take that? I don't know. You got to sit in it.
Starting point is 00:41:13 It would open up more fishing time. I mean, I guess you could stand in it. I could literally fish from it. Well, I mean, there are times that I don't go fishing because it's too cold, but now this? Yeah. This? I mean, I mean, it is quite practical. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:29 I'm a little upset. I didn't invent it. You know? It's kind of sad. Anyway, so, what was I talking about? Oh, my gosh. By the way, Vegas Larry was telling. us that for shot show, while it's going to be like ridiculously cold here,
Starting point is 00:41:44 Kane, it's going to be in the upper fitties there. I have no idea what I'm going to pack for shot show. I know we got meat and potatoes, but indulge me for a second. Upper fiddies is still cold for you. Oh my gosh, yes. So you have to probably. It's a difference between not a full length coat and a full length coat. Right.
Starting point is 00:42:03 But a coat on all the same. You have a puffy coat? Dude. Okay. So you probably want to bring the puffy coat. Yeah. I have a, I can zip literally my whole self up, except for like a little spot for my face and just
Starting point is 00:42:13 just works perfect. So that's going to, it's going to be, it's going to be a weird shot show because it's like off an election year. And, you know, we've got some, we've got some court cases that are going to be coming through.
Starting point is 00:42:26 We got some lawmakers that are going to be trying to push. So John Cornyn's coming on at the, in our third hour. And he's got a bill that he's introducing. And it's very odd. It's a concealed carry reciprocity bill. And I like it. I like concealed.
Starting point is 00:42:46 I'm just, I haven't read the full language of it yet. I've been reading it, but I haven't read the, the NSSF likes it. But he also was the guy that ensured that the 2022 bipartisan communities, whatever, safer act that also created the gun control violence, whatever office, helped pass that. So I, will the real John Cornyn please stand up? I am curious to hear about this bill, though. because one of the things that Trump has, he did call for was he wanted reciprocity. And I was not expecting him to say that at all. Actually, I had, right before he said it, I was complaining.
Starting point is 00:43:22 Because I'm like, Republicans didn't even have two-way issues on their agenda at the, at the RNC. And, you know, I was like doing me stuff. Because there was not enough gun stuff. So I was complaining. And then he said, yeah, it's like he heard me complaining. I was like, I got to shut her up. So, yeah, reciprocity. I want national reciprocity.
Starting point is 00:43:41 Look, that's how you just make me happy, right? There's ways that you can make ladies happy and just telling them what they want to hear and then doing it. That's the thing that does it. Just got to say. All right. So we also been talking about the TikTok stuff as well. And I am, oh, man, I'm like, I see both sides of it. It would be great if people of their own accord.
Starting point is 00:44:12 made the determination that, you know, I don't think I want a CCP app. I don't want, and it collects more data than you know. I was reading a insane deep dive. Admittedly, there was a lot of it I didn't understand, and I'm waiting to hear back from some of my tech friends. I'm like, okay, explain this to me like I'm for. Because it talked about the way that they, the way that they collect your data, where they send it to and how it's used. And it is really, it was reading this piece that's really in the weeds. And it collects so much more than you know.
Starting point is 00:44:51 And it uses it in more ways than you know. And that kind of stuff freaks me out. But it would be great if people thought, you know, yeah, and it even takes your bio data, all, everything. And they, I would love it for people to go, you know what, I don't want that. I want to make sure that the United States is not giving. I don't want any opportunity for a geopolitical adversary to gain a tollhold or to be able to exploit Americans, et cetera. And it would be great if people voluntarily chose to make that determination, right? I mean, that would be great.
Starting point is 00:45:27 But they don't. Freedom is a double-edged sword. So the question then for me goes along these lines. I don't think that people refusing to make smart decisions is justification enough to give government control over the choices from which they make the decisions. Does that make sense? I don't think that stupidity,
Starting point is 00:45:58 and this is why education is so important to a free republic, because when you don't have an educated populace, and I'm not saying generally educated, it could even be on a specific issue like this, right? I mean, there are some really smart people out there in business and construction and finance and tech and, you know, with money and trade skills, you know, there are a lot of people that are incredibly smart on a number of different things. You may just not know everything on this issue.
Starting point is 00:46:29 So when I say, you know, a lack of knowledge on it, I'm not calling people stupid. But you can't be an expert on everything. And when something like this comes up, it just feels like there should be an more exploration of the pros and cons of it. I don't feel like we had like a, everything has been red meat platitudes and sound bites. But where has the discussion been on? Okay, how do you protect national security issues? How do you protect a national security interest of the United States? and balance that out with a free society.
Starting point is 00:47:08 Because our founders erred on the side of caution. They wrote about it. They were adamant about it. They erred on the side of caution. They erred on towards freedom, not away from it. So how do you balance that out the national security issues? And a lot of these lawmakers, they say things like that. Well, it's a Natsack issue.
Starting point is 00:47:30 It's an, okay, how? And they can't explain to you how. A lot of them don't even know enough about how TikTok operates to explain to you how. I have, I don't care what the issue is on. I have a problem with lawmakers adjudicating these things when they don't know anything about it for the same reason that I have a problem with people who don't know anything about guns, writing and passing laws about your gun rights. So that's where I have a concern. And again, I don't think that people who decline the opportunity to make good decisions is an invitation for the government to come in and make it for them.
Starting point is 00:48:13 Now, how many people have read like SCOTUS blog about the arguments in this case? Because it extends beyond elected officials to the citizenry, to the voters too. How many people have read, I haven't even read it all. So I know a lot of people out there who have different jobs for me haven't even read it. The arguments for and against by either side. SCOTUS blog covers all of the arguments and has like the decisions and you'll get the justice's opinions and all that. There's a lot here. And we are in a very, we're in a really weird period.
Starting point is 00:48:57 We are on the edge of everything shifting, everything shifting. It's like the saying when I was little, I always wanted to be an explorer, right? But every, my uncle was like, my uncle once told me, well, everything's been explored. I'm like, oh, shucks, you know, there goes that. But I wanted to be an explorer. And then when everything's explored, what do you do? I don't know. It's kind of like this, it kind of reminds me of that argument.
Starting point is 00:49:26 This whole thing with TikTok and we're in a very weird period where, where, we're shifting to like a new era digitally, even the way financial transactions, behavior, consumption, it's affecting how we do life. It's a hobby. It's a job for, it's a million things for a million different people. And we are, there are some people who are a lot older, and so this hits really late for them. There are some people. There are some people. people who are a lot younger and they have a long way to go with us, we're at that time where it hasn't changed yet. Like with television, we're at the time where traditional broadcast television is on its way out. But we haven't fully converted over 100% to digital streaming. You see what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:50:21 We're at that weird point. That's how we are with this, with social media. Because I don't even know if I would call it social media anymore. And I think that has created a lot of confusion on how to handle this issue in the minds of a lot of people. We're going to get into all of this and more. We have some, we have other stuff too. Viveg Ramoswami is apparently going to run for Governor of Ohio. That's per Washington Post. We're also going to get into, what was the other thing that we had? Oh, the CNN found guilty of defamation. We got that in so much. Folks over at Superbeats. You guys are very familiar with Superbeats. So you know the heart chews.
Starting point is 00:51:00 They got all the heart chews and they got all this, you know, healthy stuff. They have more healthy stuff. This one, this supplement or this capsule, just one easy to take capsule. It's the berberine. This helps with your body's metabolism and also healthy blood sugar levels. It's called SuperBerine. It's their latest innovation. And, you know, like I said, you know them for their number one cardiologist recommended superbeats.
Starting point is 00:51:26 Now, this is a science-back supplement that supports both metabolism and healthy blood sugar levels. And you can find it in CM's Club. Go right to the CMs Club. It's right there next to the Superbeats Archieus. And the SuperBoreen is your go-to way to support that healthy metabolism and blood sugar levels as well. It's a plant-based supplement, easy to take capsule once a day. And it features a clinically studied burbering that's shown to have nearly 10 times higher absorption, the rate, than standard burbering. Used by doctors from the makers of the Superbeats-Archews.
Starting point is 00:51:55 So what are you waiting for? Head to your nearest Sam's Club. Save on Superbeats Heart Shoes and the new SuperBoreen from Human. And now, all of the news you would probably miss. It's time for Dana's Quick Five. So the moon has been added to a list of threatened cultural sites for the first time. They said that the World Monuments Fund says potential looting and commercial trips pose risk to artifacts left by lunar landings.
Starting point is 00:52:28 The World Monument Fund, that's our stuff that's up there, by the way. It's not your stuff. You don't get to do that. If we want to leave our stuff up there on the moon, we can't. If we want to go back up there and stomp on it, we can't. Who's just going to the moon? Who the hell is the World Monuments Fund? I've never heard of them.
Starting point is 00:52:44 Yeah, who's just going to the moon? I think I'm going to go to the moon this weekend. Sorry, can't meet with you for brunch. SpaceX launched two lunar landers on Wednesday to conduct research for future missions. and then, of course, the world monument, whatever fun, comes out with us. I don't know. They have like all this, they have world heritage sites, things like that.
Starting point is 00:53:03 I don't know. But interesting. This Pope Francis, the 88-year-old Bishop of Rome, injured in a fall weeks after bruising his chin in another stumble. He needs to be careful. There's a little marble up there. There's slipping and sliding all that marble. I'm not a fan of him, but, you know, I don't like to hear about old people falling down.
Starting point is 00:53:25 unless I really don't like the old person and then I just don't see anything and I just internalize it and you never know. I'm not like Kane though. Kane hates all he doesn't like old people. He thinks they're not, he thinks they're shifting. Let's see the FDA is moving to slash nicotine and cigarettes. How do you do that? How does that work? Probably a chemical process that's even worse for you. Yeah, I don't care. I'm not a smoker. I don't care. I don't know. My grandpa always rolled his own for a long time. He rolled his own. Anyway, we got a lot more to come. Congressman Jim Jordan joins us next. Stick with us. With everything going on in the world right now, the economy, conflicts, the open border spiraling national debt, the devastating inflation, it's critical that you have a plan for diversifying and

That sounds corny, but I mean, I really, I really am concerned because you've heard me say it a hundred times. I really think we're on a flexion point in history here. I think he's actually I've not heard him say that a hundred times. And if he was so concerned about it, then why did he administer the business of the nation and the way that which he did?
Starting point is 00:55:41 Welcome back to the program. Dana Lash here with you. We are at the bottom of the second hour. You can listen coast to coast terrestrily, watch the live stream channel 347 direct TV. The chats at Rumble also on X. Joining us now. I got a million things to talk about with him. I know he was under the weather previously.
Starting point is 00:55:54 So we're so happy. that Congressman Jim Jordan from the beautiful state of Ohio is back to his. We need him at his full strength. He's got to be completely charged up to his full strength. You're always completely charged up and have full strength ready to go, aren't you? That's happy New Year to you. Happy New Year to you because you've got to hit the ground running. I mean, the next six months are going to be insane because then the midterm period starts.
Starting point is 00:56:16 Talk to me a little bit about, I have a million things to hit, but I want to ask real quick about the reconciliation bill because tax cuts. Americans need tax relief. if they also need relief from spending, what's going to happen with us? All that, and we need the border secure. So we need to have the revenue, the funds there so that Tom Holman, President Trump can do what they promise the American people, what the American people elected us to do, which is secure that border, begin to repatriate people, the criminals who are here, who came in as migrants and committed crimes, the 1.3 million who've already been in front of a court. And the court said, sorry, your case, you don't qualify under our asylum laws.
Starting point is 00:56:54 do we need we need resources for that we need to accomplish that but as you point out to get our economy moving you need to reduce spending you need to cut taxes so we get the economy like we had just four or five years ago when in president trump's first term so all those are part of this reconciliation and i always tell people reconciliation just a big fancy term for you don't need 60 votes in the senate to get something passed and that's that's the beauty of it because we can do it then with republican votes yeah is there a chance that it could be it could split into two bills i've seen a lot of discussion on that. I mean, look, I'm indifferent.
Starting point is 00:57:27 One or two, what I want to do is do what we told the American people were going to do. I always say we make this job way too complicated. It's pretty darn simple. What did you tell the voters you were going to do when you ran for the job, when you put your name on the ballot? If they elect you, go do what you said. So we can get that done in one bill or two bills.
Starting point is 00:57:43 And I think, I see advantages and disadvantages to both. So we'll just have to kind of see how that plays out. But the key is, let's do it as soon as possible because that'll help our economy get growing like it needs to. Let's get this border secure as possible. Keep bad people out of the country. Like people have done terrible things like what happened to Lake and Riley.
Starting point is 00:58:04 So that's why it's imperative we do it as just as quick as we possibly can. Yeah, we're talking with Congressman Jim Jordan. If you're listening, if you're watching, obviously, you can see him. And we got the reconciliation bill, the fight over this because there's going to be the, there's a lot of stuff wrapped up into that, the money for deportations, the energy policy, and that's why a lot of people were saying this maybe should be two instead of one, but I'm with you. I mean, if we can get
Starting point is 00:58:27 half of what we want past, I think that that's going to be, that's going to, that'll be successful. I don't want to give the Democrats a lot, but the tax cuts, oh my gosh, you know, if you wanted to throw in there Congressman, an abolishment of the IRS, totally. I mean, I'm just saying that would be, I would personally
Starting point is 00:58:43 throw you a party. I would get you a pizza hot party, like the bucket program, all you can eat pizza hot party. I'll throw that into Sweden the deal. That's the other thing. Part of this election was all this stuff we've been talking about, good energy policy, good border policy, secure our border again, tax policy.
Starting point is 00:59:00 But it was also stopping these agencies from being weaponized against the people. And that's why I so appreciate the people President Trump's nominated for these respective cabinet positions, because they represent the attitude the American people voted for. They're there to serve the taxpayer, not be turned against and weaponized against the taxpayer. So I think that's really important. And you mentioned the IRS.
Starting point is 00:59:24 You know, what was the old line? I think it was Speaker Gingrich, you said, you know, when, if someone from the IRS, you know, you go to your door, there's a knock at your door, you go to your door and they say, oh, I'm from the IRS, your first response is not, oh, joy, one of my public servants is here to help today. So, I mean, it's like there's an attitude that, that, what was the other great line, another, what Churchill said, civil servants aren't servants and they aren't civil, you know? So, yeah, we want the people running these agencies who have the attitude that says we're here to serve the taxpayers of this great country.
Starting point is 00:59:58 There you go. I wanted to ask you really quickly because I will get into the Lake and Riley, the bill that was passed for that, which was great that that passed through the House. The TikTok decision that came from Supreme Court today, this is such a nuanced debate because nobody likes the CCP. Nobody wants to have their data mind. And I actually, and I'm in a weird spot because I agree with both sides. So I don't know which one I agree with more. I just, I feel like I don't want to give the, because we saw what happened with the government under Joe Biden, all these weaponized agencies. I can't imagine giving Democrats the keys to shut down different companies that they don't like because they'll, they'll fabricate a national security claim.
Starting point is 01:00:38 Like they fabricated, you know, the Russian, you know, collusion and all that. So I'm nervous about that, but I also understand at the same time. this is a geopolitical adversary. And the stuff that they're collecting goes far beyond what anybody can actually imagine. How do we handle this and balance that out? I think you've summarized it exactly where I'm at. I actually walked to the floor the day of that boat.
Starting point is 01:01:05 And I still, when I got to the floor, I wasn't sure which way to go. Because I like you, I see both sides of this. I think President Trump's going to take the exact right approach and say, look, let's figure this. out, let's see if we can find someone else who will purchase this company so it's American-owned. And let's go from there. And we've now have a, you know, there's a, there's a, there's a time frame where that can, that can still begin to play out. So I think that's the right approach.
Starting point is 01:01:30 I think President Trump understands that. We understand that, you know, I think Scott Bessett when he was in his confirmation hearing, he was asking a slightly different issue, but it was being questioned about energy and China. And I think the Democrat senator said, well, we're in a clean energy race with China. And Mr. Besson said, no, we're in an energy race with China. I thought that was so well. We're in all kinds of conflicts and races with China. And we want to make sure they're not spying on us like everyone is convinced they're doing with this particular app. So there's a right way to do this moving forward. I think President Trump's going to take that right approach. And I like you, I see both sides of it. But let's just get someone else that purchase this company and
Starting point is 01:02:13 and let it to continue to operate, but operate as American-owned. Yeah, and that's what people don't, I think a lot is missed in the discussion. It's like all they had to do was de-invest from ByteDance, because ByteDance, I mean, in order to run a business out of China, you've got to be a member in good standing of the Communist Party there. It's a requirement. But they wouldn't invest. They wouldn't do it, which that's a red flag to me.
Starting point is 01:02:32 I'm like, that means you're doing some shady stuff and you want to keep doing it. That's what it is. I want to switch gears here because you were instrumental. The preventing violence against women by Illegal Aliens Act passes the House. You know, I know a lot of Democrats, they tried to say, oh, this is just targeting, and they would use the phrase migrants conflating once again legal and illegal immigration. I mean, it seems like such a common sense thing. And I know you all had to fight tooth and nail just to get something so common sense passed. Just give me your quick thoughts on that.
Starting point is 01:03:01 If you've done bad things, you shouldn't get into the country, particularly done bad things to women. You shouldn't get into the country. And if you're in the country as a migrant and you do those bad things, you can. got to go. That's how simple this bill was. God bless Nancy May she brought this bill forward. It came through our committee. It's good legislation. But 100, what, 140-some Democrats voted against it, which is just like makes no, again, Sarah Huckabee Sanders said this a couple years ago. She said the divide in America today is normal versus crazy. Yeah. And we're on the side of common sense and normal. The left, which now unfortunately controls the Democrat Party, they're on the side of crazy.
Starting point is 01:03:42 It's crazy to think men should compete against women in sports. We had that vote earlier this week. It's crazy to think if you do bad things, you should still be allowed to come in the country. That's crazy. You could just go down the list. It is just crazy policies that the left has. It's crazy to defund the police. It's crazy.
Starting point is 01:04:01 It was the normy election. There was the election of either choosing insanity or normalcy. That was it. Yes. So this bill is just normal common sense policy. and, you know, let's hope it has, like Lake and Riley, the bill we passed last week, let's hope it gets to the Senate, and the Senate takes it up, and it becomes law, and President Trump can sign this in his first week of office as well.
Starting point is 01:04:22 Yeah, Congressman, we had the deal also that was announced the hostages held by Hamas. And what do you make of this deal? Because I'm hearing either people either love it or they're concerned about the number of Gaza terrorists being released. Yeah, and look, the Israelis have this long history. They're going to do whatever they can to get back their people. And I love the attitude they have about protecting their citizens, their people. Yeah, and some of ours.
Starting point is 01:04:51 Exactly. So God bless them. But I think the real takeaway is this doesn't happen without President Trump's leadership. I mean, Joe Biden, I mean, it just like, you know, this thing is going to end in a few days. And thank the good Lord for that because I can't think of one thing that the Biden administration did well. And in this particular issue, relative to Israel and our dearest and closest. friend being attacked by Hamas and Hezbollah. I remember in Joe Biden's State of the Union addressed several months back when he said,
Starting point is 01:05:18 we're going to put a temporary pier, a temporary port in Gaza to give supplies. And I'm sitting beside a colleague who's a West Point grad. And I looked at him and I said, hey, isn't it kind of warfare 101? If you want one side to win, you don't give supplies to the other side. And then, of course, this peer fell in the Mediterranean and it wound up costs us like 600 million and they had to get rid of it. That's how ridiculous and stupid the Biden administration is and has been. God bless President Trump for stepping in here and making a difference in getting these hostages
Starting point is 01:05:50 Americans and Israeli hostages released. Yeah, we're going to see how this all winds down. And, you know, you mentioned, too, the inauguration. It's going to be real cold there. 19 degrees, Congressman, 19 degrees. I know they're going to be doing, I think, the swearing in on the inside. And I keep here, and I read it a million different places this morning that the last time this happened was when Reagan. Reagan had to go inside to swear his oath. So, I mean, it's
Starting point is 01:06:17 frigid temperatures, but I don't think anybody cares about the cold. I don't think they care. I think they'll accept it as a tradeoff. Yeah, they just want, we just want President Trump back in the White House. It's what's morning in America again, again, is maybe the way to say it, because it's, I mean, you can feel the optimism since November 5th. I'll be walking through the airport, and I'll see someone coming, and they'll have this little twinkle in, their eye and smile on their face. They'll give me a thumbs up. You just, you just, you just see it, feel it, sense it. People are excited. There's this optimism that's back, which is the way Americans are. We're optimistic people. We're Americans. And you just feel that sense there again with President
Starting point is 01:06:56 Trump coming back in. And it is a good feeling. And I think they're going to be good results as we work to make America great again. And it's going to be a very interesting collection of folks on that day. I see one last quick note because the change. And I don't care if they're motivated by dollars or what, but to have Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Sam Altman, Elon Musk all up there, considering where we were with these entities four years ago, what a change. Four years ago, every single one of them would kick President Trump off their platform. And now they're all there, giving money to the inauguration committee. They're all there. They're embracing. Mark Zuckerberg sent me a letter last summer and he said, Biden administration pressured us to censor. We did it. We're
Starting point is 01:07:38 sorry, we won't do it again. And then they just changed their policies to say we're getting rid of the independent fact checker baloney. And we're going to go to, imagine this day. We're going to go to the First Amendment. We're going to let more speech combat bad speech, which is exactly what the First Amendment is about. God bless these guys. But for Elon Musk coming forward and Donald Trump getting elected, we may not have saved the First Amendment like we have over the last few years. Save the Republic. But it's been saved and that's a good thing. There you go. Congressman Jim Jordan, we so appreciate your fight on behalf of, I know, not just Ohioans, but everybody in D.C. Thank you. Stay healthy. Stay warm. We'll be praying for a
Starting point is 01:08:13 nice, easy inauguration. Good to see you. You bet. Take care. You too. We have more to come, folks, as we wind down the second hour of the program. And of course, we have Florida Man on the way as we move. Partners that help bring you the program. It's our friends over at Keltek. I'm going to be broadcasting from their booth, actually, at Shachot next week, which is a private industry event. But that's usually when they come out with Keltek. That's usually when they're they come out with all their new stuff. And they are coming out with some new stuff. And we're going to be talking about it. But this is a great Florida-based company. It's actually a great American story. And they make and innovate some really awesome things. I mean, whether it's the P-11,
Starting point is 01:08:51 the P-13, the lightest, then a double-stack 9mm on the market, the fold and a half-carbine family of sub 2Ks, the P-50, the bullpup performance of the RDB, everything quality made right here in the U.S. of A. And again, I'll be broadcasting next week from their booth at Shot Show. So check out Keltecweapons.com. Sign up for the newsletter so you can be the first to know everything. Follow them on social media. That's Innovation Performance and Keltec. K-E-L-T-E-C
Starting point is 01:09:18 Weapons.com. Tell them Dana sent you. It's his life mission to make bad decisions. It's time for Florida Man. I love how there's just randomly a cow in Florida man. I mean,
Starting point is 01:09:37 there's something about that. I love how there's just randomly this. All right. So our favorite Florida man. So first up, this, okay, I got to get to this one. I don't have this on my list, but I have to. Florida man was arrested for installing a tracking device on his ex-girlfriend's car in the hopes that he could just pretend to randomly run into her somewhere. That's really, that's creepy. He's a 22-year-old Chipotle worker from Florida, Tyler Strack. He used a tracking device to keep her, to keep tags on an ex-girlfriend that he had dated years ago. And he was hoping to just run into her. So he got charged with a felony.
Starting point is 01:10:13 She discovered a cube tracker affixed her vehicle last August and went to the police. And they tracked it. And his email address came up. And she told him that they had a brief relationship years ago. And they haven't really had any contact. And he installed this somehow. He placed it on her car because he was hoping to, oh, it just, you know, it's serendipity. I just happen to come across you here.
Starting point is 01:10:40 How crazy is that? So now he was arrested, and so now he's got to go to court. But that's wild. That is really weird because you can stick that stuff on people's cars and, this,
Starting point is 01:10:52 if Florida man suspected of a DUI, when he was asked for his information, he gave cops his debit card. Instead of his license, Marion County. William Asbury, 52, he's passed out in his vehicle, slumped face down in the driver's seat.
Starting point is 01:11:09 And when they asked to see his license upon approach, he handed them a debit card. So he was arrested, taking a Marion County jail. He gave a breath sample of 0.91. Yeah, I did. Point 9.1. What? That's 91%. Am I right?
Starting point is 01:11:28 Is that what it is? I don't know. Is that? How are you alive? Because 0.91 is almost 1, which means a whole, which means almost all your blood's alcohol. That can't. Am I doing that right? That's what it said.
Starting point is 01:11:38 That's what it says. Are we figuring this out right? I don't know. That doesn't sound like he should be alive. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I'm a million questions, million questions. All right. So there was also a Florida man caught smuggling marijuana wrapped in Christmas paper at St.
Starting point is 01:11:57 Thomas Airport. I guess he was trying to say that it was a gift. I don't know. But he told law enforcement that he was smuggling pot as a way to dispose of a shop's old inventory. He's just helping him out. Yeah, three suitcases that came up. of Spirit Airlines flight and they had anomalies and they were all wrapped in Christmas paper. And I guess that and then they found out, oh, look, it's all marijuana.
Starting point is 01:12:22 So he was arrested, charged with intent to distribute. Let's see this. Oh, a Florida man was arrested because he tried to steal not one but two lawnmowers. And then he fled and lied about his identity. Flaker County. Willie, I mean, W-I-L-E-E. They really wanted to make sure it was said right. Willie Parker.
Starting point is 01:12:44 The man is 42, but he don't look 42. That dude looks 60. That man is not 42 years old. That's a lie. Holy wow. But anyway, he was trying to steal lawnmowers from Home Depot, ran from the police. And when they finally caught up with him,
Starting point is 01:12:57 he lied about who he was. Third hour coming up, Senator John Cornyn at the bottom of our next hour, stick with us. Imagine a young woman facing an unplanned pregnancy, feeling alone and unsure of what to do. And she's searching for hope. And that's where pre-born ministries comes in.

Starting point is 01:14:01 slash Dana. More than 40 years after I first entered this building, it is now time. to say goodbye. It will be hard to leave these hallowed halls. It will be hard to leave the leadership team that has guided the department with such extraordinary skill, integrity, and 24-7 dedication. Oh, please. Merrick Garland, one of the just the pettiest, most bitter little weasels that has ever existed, giving, I don't miss him, I don't have anything nice to say.
Starting point is 01:14:36 That's his farewell address, the last address he's going to make. And good riddance. Don't let the door hit you with a good Lord split you. Welcome back to the program, Dana Lashier with you, top of this third hour. And a lot to jump into. We're going to be talking with John Cornyn later on in the program. And because he's introducing a national concealed carry reciprocity bill. We'll talk to him about that. And we've been discussing this TikTok decision.
Starting point is 01:15:03 And of course, CNN was found guilty of defamation in their defamation trial. Isn't anyone shocked about that? I don't think so. I don't think so. Lorraine brought up a good point. And I wanted to highlight really quickly one of the closest things that I think this compares to with the issue with TikTok. Because during the discussion with Jim Jordan, he was saying, you know, bite dance owns TikTok. And again, if you're not on TikTok, it doesn't matter. This will affect you. This is a variable. You always have to look at these legislative moves and court decisions as the formula. And then you can plug different things in as the variable, right? So bite dance is the the CCP company that owns TikTok and they were told that if TikTok wants to operate in the United States, it needs to be American owned, right? It can't be, it needs to be American owned. And Lorraine brought up a good point too, like what stops China from creating an American company and then selling their American assets to that company? and you know like you have somebody who comes into the United States and is here for a couple of years then starts a company and buys the app so they're American owned she says China plays and it's true
Starting point is 01:16:14 this is very similar to what happened in Prado in Italy now bear with me let me take you back for a minute because it's very similar how many times have you seen the label made in Italy and that's like a big selling point especially if it's like Florentine gold if it's leather certain textiles. The luxury market, Italian made, made in Italy, leather jackets and belts and
Starting point is 01:16:40 wallets and women's handbags and shoes. It's a huge issue. In Florence, they have a, it's the Mercado. They have a whole market. You can go to. And it has all of these textiles, all the leather wares. You can go to Pontecchio, the bridge, and it has all the gold
Starting point is 01:16:56 and all of this stuff, all the jewelry. And that area has historically for generations, hundreds of years, been a textiles area. And there is a huge, huge immigration corridor from China to Prado, which is in Tuscany. It's just a little bit northwest of Florence. And that's where so many, like Gucci is made in Florence. It's made in Italy, Batignavena, things like that. Some, Some fashion houses, though, don't do that.
Starting point is 01:17:33 And I'm going to get to that. So you have this whole area in Tuscany where you would have generation zone, Italian factories, Italian craftsmen. They're very, very proud. You might have six, seven generations of the same family who do leather work. And the reason why it is so prized and it has a premium tag is because these people have spent generationally their entire lives perfecting these techniques, which is why it is the, the, the tan leather, the treatment of it, the manufacturer, the, all of it is, uh, widely respected as the best. So you have a lot of fashion houses that have their stuff made in that area because they wanted that Italian expertise to justify the price tag. But then you, you started having a lot of
Starting point is 01:18:23 immigration that came into Prado and came into Tuscany. This has started like over 10 years ago. and these factories, especially after Italy went through a very tough economic period, a lot of these factories were forced into sale. And you would have Chinese business folks. A lot of them came from the Wuhan area that purchased these factories and they would bring in illegally, illegal labor. And they were displacing, you know, a lot of these tradesmen that have been, you know, that have the skills because these people that these new business owners were bringing in. And it's a well-documented story. It actually became a scandal. They were bringing in these, you know, illegal workers and who were in the country illegally. And they were basically operating these factories that were hubs of, you know, generational craftsmanship and turning them into sweatshops.
Starting point is 01:19:15 And there were a lot of fashion labels that thought they could save money, for instance, Fendi, some others. You might, the quality of a lot of the stuff is just garbage and it's noticeable and it's much discussed online and people were wondering what happened. Well, they were trying to save themselves some money and they were having their products made knowing that they were getting cheap labor and under-trained labor doing all of it. And it became a huge scandal that even Vogue had to write about. And it was then that they decided, I guess the CCP decided we have to push back on this. So they accused Italians of racism because Italians were protesting at all of the illegal
Starting point is 01:19:57 immigrants that were being brought in to run these sweatshops, basically. It was a huge, huge thing. And they were shamed by a CCP operation into silence because they were being called racist and bigots and xenophobes. Where does this sound familiar? And so they got quiet. And then COVID happened. Now remember, this was right around when all these countries were having their fashion week. You had Milan Fashion Week, right? Big, big deal. A lot of the stuff that these people were making and they would go to the factories and look at it and then go back to, you know, the whatever fashion capital to have there,
Starting point is 01:20:31 to show their next season. And you had a lot of these, I mean, you have direct flights that were coming in between the COVID hotspot in China right to Tuscany. And that's one of the reasons why that area was hit so hard. Now, there was a, it's the equivalent of the governor of that area
Starting point is 01:20:49 that was saying one of the reasons it hit them so bad is because they were reluctant to speak up about what they were noted. in terms of health and viruses because they did not want to be shamed as being bigots again. That's a real story. And they were using the made in Italy. Oh, it's on its face. It looks like an Italian company.
Starting point is 01:21:11 There's Chinese RAN. Chinese workers, Chinese RAN. That's very similar to the point that Lorraine had made and that what's to stop them from just doing basically the same thing here. It's kind of a shell game, right? and it's a fast that's it's it's a fascinating it's like a it's a fascinating story I mean they there was a whole thing let me pull this up as it relates to the New Yorker had a whole story about how the made in Italy brand quote was diluted by replacing Prado's historically high quality fabric production with fast fashion the CCP was defending it
Starting point is 01:21:57 by saying Chinese workers have simply surpassed Italians in their skill. And they're like, no, they're not. The skill has actually suffered. The quality that's undeniable has suffered. The New Yorker, which I'm not a fan of, but they actually did a really huge piece on this, as well as the New York Times and Vogue even had to write about it. I mean, even Prada was caught doing this stuff, right? So this is the CCP's influence.
Starting point is 01:22:22 And they've already done this in Italy, because Italy has gotten really, they've locked down. like you can't say made in Italy unless you're using like they've got some restrictions that they've passed on this to combat this. And now I feel like this is very similar with what opens the door here. How do you prevent them from just setting up an American company here? This is the problem with the broad nature, the broad way that this legislation is written. And this is what I, many others are really nervous about because what stop them from doing just that.
Starting point is 01:22:59 Creating an American company. How do you even, how would you even, you would have to have more laws. And this, like I said, and this is very broadly written. So it already grants them a lot of leeway. I don't know, Kane, I don't know how you prevent that unless you have like a whole other series of regulation with it. Right? No, right.
Starting point is 01:23:24 And I'm like, if you'll forget, I'm just like going through. know, in my mind, all of the other things that you would have to do, I'm not even scratching the surface, in order to make that happen, in order to facilitate that. And I mean, and that's just with tech. In Italy, it was with like tangible, like, you know, product. This is just with tech. So I think it's even more convoluted. It's wild. And I don't, from what I have read so far, in the legislation and the regulation on it, it's not addressed, unless I haven't gotten to it yet, because I haven't finished reading through everything, unless it's just addressed at the end. I have not seen it.
Starting point is 01:24:09 So I just, I got questions. I got a lot of questions on this. And I also think that this is a geopolitical adversary. We don't have to give them the same considerations that we would give an American entity. Just because you're doing business in the United States and you're a foreign entity, I believe that that does not entitle you to the protections that are reserved for citizens. Now, there are some capital Ls who say, no, no, no, this constitution was an affirmation of free rights for all.
Starting point is 01:24:39 I disagree with that. I think it's about the citizens here in the United States, be a citizen. Or have that standing as a status to be able to take advantage of that. If you're here, you're living here, your pain taxes, you know, you're immigrated legally, you're doing all that, then yes. that applies. But a CCP for an entity, they're trying to use our consistency on freedom as leverage. You have to outsmart them.
Starting point is 01:25:09 That's what this is. And I am nervous also because how close did we come? Think about this in the last four years with the Ministry of Disinformation, They were already, the government was, they were pressuring so heavily these companies behind the scenes. Imagine the power to be able to claim a national security consideration and take over a company in the hands of Democrats. Do you not think they would, would not do that with X? If Mark Zuckerberg keeps going down this path, do you not think that they would do it with Facebook? I mean, look at what they've already done.
Starting point is 01:25:54 Oh, absolutely they would. that's where I get really nervous. If you're going to propose something like this, my gosh, it has to be ironclad. And it has to be. I just get very nervous with us. Kane, I can totally see the left, if this is overly broad and allowed to remain so. And nothing is done. Say that you get, just bear with me, a Gavin Newsom president.
Starting point is 01:26:22 Do you, do people think that they wouldn't use this to take over something? something like X? We've already seen it what they did with the ones that exist. Yeah. With Instagram and Facebook, we already know that that's what they do. So, of course, that's exactly what they would do. I get nervous. I'm just saying, I feel like they're baiting us into this.
Starting point is 01:26:42 Because think about it. They're like, okay, they can go, okay, sure. We'll just switch over the, for all intents and purposes. It'll be an American company. Oh, and now you have the opportunity to take over companies. The CCP and the left are, very intertwined. I mean, for crying out loud. It reminds me of what they tried to sell us on the Section 203 stuff, you know, what they were intending to do based on... I think we're getting baited
Starting point is 01:27:07 versus what they're saying they're going to do. I think we're getting baited. If you want to talk about 4D chess, this is it. What does living better mean to you? Is it more money, a bigger house? Now think about this. What about how you feel physically every day? Life is so much better when you feel good. Starting point is 01:28:13 And now, all of the news you would probably miss. It's time for Dana's Quick Five. Smartwatch bands can contain major levels of toxic, P-F-A-S. Paphas, according to the Guardian. So these are the
Starting point is 01:28:28 Forever chemicals. I'm trying to actually get away from all things plastic. But they said that smart watch and fitness
Starting point is 01:28:33 tracker bands. But what if they're silicone? Really? Paphases. Is Paphases? Are Paphases in in the
Starting point is 01:28:45 silicone bands? Probably. Well, I wear metal now. But I don't know. They said, or like, rubber, they said
Starting point is 01:28:52 that the natural Rubber won't likely contain Paphases, but the chemicals are likely in the synthetic to prevent sweat stains and dirt build up over time. Rain, hiking gear, waterproofing agents. I mean, is it that big of a deal? I mean,
Starting point is 01:29:06 we're all going to die from something. Is it that big of a deal? I don't know. I don't know what to think about it. I don't know to die from that, though. Let's just all wear armor and everything metal. Oh, guess what? Then we'll get metal poisoning or something will happen. Just wait. Oh, free. Let's see. Modern
Starting point is 01:29:22 solutions sometimes require medieval. Modern problems require medieval solutions. Blood lighting has been recommended for New Jersey residents after Pafas contamination. Their private drinking water, it was polluted by the use of firefighting foams that contain forever chemicals.
Starting point is 01:29:39 And now they've been literally recommending bloodletting to reduce high concentration of forever chemicals. So it's a thing? Like, isn't that what the leeches can do? Yeah. I'm going to bleed you. I'm going to
Starting point is 01:29:52 Put these real little slimy bugs on your arms and legs. They're going to eat all your blood. Get the perfasis out. That's what's going to happen. Here, let me try to read this sentence. Quote, private drinking water supplies in New Jersey were polluted by the use of firefighting films. Contained pathases. Per and polyfluylylacalycalic substances.
Starting point is 01:30:12 Sounds good. Polyfluylacaly. That's the correct pronunciation. What are they get stuck in your... lymph nos and you're just letting out blood that's good. Oh, that's a great point. Escape cow. It drops by Kansas State University campus.
Starting point is 01:30:32 An escaped cow. It was tagged. It was just mined in its own business, you know, was wandering through. It was there. They were able to get it and take it back, but they got it under a trailer. Stick with us. John Cornyn is next. Starting point is 01:32:05 and I will sign concealed carry reciprocity. Your Second Amendment does not end at the state line. Well, that concealed carry reciprocity has to get there. And he said this the day after he won, and I immediately picked up. on it. I thought, because look, I've had disagreements with some of the stuff that he's done in the past, and you have two. I think I've been one of the most vociferous about it. That said, I've never heard a president say that, or demand, and then say that I'll sign this national concealed carry reciprocity. So that was, that was really significant. Now, that's the thing. It's got to get there.
Starting point is 01:32:48 It has to get to him. Well, now there's been a bill introduced to do just that. And honestly, I think if they're going to do it, they've got to do it now before that six months end and the midterm running to the center starts for so many lawmakers. So this new legislation, it's senators John Corny, Cruz, Grassley, Tillis have introduced concealed carry reciprocity. And this is, I mean, one of the things that they're going to apparently be folks. focusing on right after everything transitions next week. Joining us to discuss this bill via the phone is Texas Senator John Cornyn. Sir, it's a pleasure to have you on.
Starting point is 01:33:32 Tell us about this because this, I mean, as soon as he said that, I was wondering when this was going to get reintroduced, and there's a number of co-sponsors onto this, so that's, you know, good news. What are your thoughts about, is this going to make it to his desk? Yeah, Dana, thanks for having me on. This is a bill that I've introduced numerous times before, but we've never had the trifecta of a majority in the House and the Senate and a president willing to sign it. So I agree with you that there's no time to waste. You know, there's just a lot of misunderstanding by people who've never been around guns, never been raised around guns, hunting, and recreation.
Starting point is 01:34:13 And this is like a driver's license. So if you have a Texas driver's license, you can drive in any, in any, one of 50 states, including Texas. And I think the law ought to be the same with regard to the Second Amendment. And right now we have reciprocity between various states, but it's easy for law-abiding gun owners to inadvertently cross the state line and find themselves in trouble in those states that don't give reciprocity. So this will eliminate that gotcha. And I think it's a great opportunity for us to get it done, and we intend to move without delay. Do you think it's easier, Senator, to start with something like concealed carry national
Starting point is 01:34:57 reciprocity as opposed to just constitutional permitless carry nationally? Yeah, I think, you know, different states, interestingly, like Vermont, as I understand and have constitutional carry. Of course, Texas does as well. But I think it's probably easier to start this way. There will be some pushback because, as you know, different states have different requirements in educational program and so forth. And others just say, well, if you're a law-abiding gun owner, you can carry a gun.
Starting point is 01:35:28 You don't need to take a course or go through any other process. So we're going to start out here. And if we're successful, then maybe we can expand it further in the future. We're talking to Texas Senator John Cornyn, who has reintroduced this concealed carry reciprocity bill. I used to, it would be something like this could probably pass the House and maybe it'll get stuck in the Senate. But this looks like the time that it could go through both of those. I keep thinking, well, what is the catch? There's always a catch. Is there anything that's going to surprise us, Senator? Well, I think, you know, Richard Hudson from North Carolina, I believe,
Starting point is 01:36:08 is a principal sponsor in the House. And I'm pretty confident that the House can get it passed, even with a razor-thin majority that they have. And then we've got 53 Republicans now in the Senate. We don't have 60, so that means we'll need some help from seven Democrats. But after the shalacking the Democrats got on November the 5th, I think perhaps they're open to more discussion about common-sense legislation like this. And like you said at the outset, President Trump will sign it if we can get it to its desk. So that's going to be probably the challenge is getting to that 60 convincing seven Democrats to join us.
Starting point is 01:36:49 Yeah, and I think allowing the states, even if we agree with it or not, allowing the states maybe as a way to help convince them to retain, like especially like Illinois or New York, allowing them to retain a little bit of their egregious oversight in exchange maybe for some to expand the reciprocity. That might be a good first step because I feel like they got to be eased into it because states like Illinois. I mean, they're so hostile to the Second Amendment. They're going to fight this. Well, I've always said that, you know, the public doesn't have to fear law-abiding gun owners. And some Democrats feel that, you know, guns are inherently evil, notwithstanding the fact that the Second Amendment guarantees that right as part of the Bill of Rights. So there is definitely a cultural difference around the country. But I think there is as many as 35 different states already provided.
Starting point is 01:37:41 some form of reciprocity, but as I said earlier, it's too easy to inadvertently cross state lines and find yourself in legal trouble, and this will avoid that entirely. Yeah, this is something that the National Shooting Sports Foundation, gun owners, I mean, every every gun, a Second Amendment advocacy entity has supported this and said that it's, you know, it's time that this passes. And I know that you've, you know, you've had this on, on a backburner for some time waiting for the right time. How do, there are some people, Senator, that are trying to reconcile your reintroduce, your reintroduction of this national, you know, concealed carry reciprocity bill with that
Starting point is 01:38:23 bipartisan, uh, community, safer act from 2022 that had a lot of gun control in it. And you, you got a lot of criticism for that. How do you reconcile these two, these two pieces of legislation? Well, I would, uh, I would say that, that, um, all, All the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act did was to say that we will look back at juvenile, criminal, and mental health records to determine whether if you were an adult that you would be disqualified from purchasing a firearm under existing law. As you know, the National Instac Criminal Background Check system checks that when you go by a firearm, the vast majority 90 plus percent of those go through in a matter of seconds. and we felt, and I believe, that looking back at juvenile records so that somebody doesn't necessarily show up on their 18th birthday as if they didn't have a criminal record or have a mental health commitment, which had they been an adult, they would have been disqualified under existing law. So that's, again, I think very consistent with the position I've always held that law-abiding citizens shouldn't have an unimpaired access to,
Starting point is 01:39:39 to their rights under the Second Amendment. But I would hope that we could have some agreement that people who are suffering from mental illness or somebody who have demonstrated lack of regard for the law and have a criminal record would be disqualified under existing law. And we're talking with Senator John Cornyn from the Great Republic of Texas about this national concealed carry reciprocity act. And you bring up this good point about the adjudication of people as, as being prohibited possessors because I feel like not enough lawmakers talk about the existing
Starting point is 01:40:13 pathways that we have in order to do that that still protect due process. And especially with this, you know, the, wow, I almost forgot the name of it, the Office of Gun Violence Prevention that Biden created, that Harris was supposed to be running. This was something that they talked about quite a bit. But there, I mean, there are ways to do that to keep dangerous people that are not just dangerous just to themselves, but to everybody else. As you know, to have them adjudicated, have their day in court, follow due process, and then the court makes that determination. Well, due process is very important because we are talking about a constitutional right.
Starting point is 01:40:51 And as you know, states like Texas don't have a red flag law. Those have always, that's always been a big concern in my state and in a number of other states. And we made sure that no state would get access to any resources unless they had a law which protected due process for a gun owner. Unfortunately, none of them did. Well, unfortunately, too many of them did not. You're right. But in states like Texas, where we don't have a red flag law,
Starting point is 01:41:21 we were able to receive equal funding to implement programs like veterans courts, drug courts, and mental health courts, crisis intervention programs, in those states like Texas that did not have a red flag law. So I think I'm frankly proud of the work we did here. I think we've probably saved lives. We've seen about 300 people prosecuted for straw purchases, which has been a problem where people who are legally disqualified from purchasing a firearms, let's say, because of a previous criminal record, have a girlfriend or some friend purchase a gun who did not
Starting point is 01:42:01 have such a background. and now we've got more people scrutinized for these illegitimate straw purchases as well. I think the more we can find consensus on some of these areas, I think it's easier for people like me to say there's no reason to inhibit or to restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens. And some of it sounds like what Jeff Sessions did with Project Exile. Some of it sounds very similar to that. where he really wanted to crack down through the, because you mentioned straw purchases, and the Biden administration famously,
Starting point is 01:42:38 Barack Obama, his administration, as you know, Senator, famously did not pursue, or they would just dismiss these charges, but average everyday people or FFLs that have a grammatical error, get the book thrown at them. A quick question on this,
Starting point is 01:42:52 then I want to move on before we let you go to a couple of other issues. Is there a chance that some of the, like, for instance, the Office for Gun Violence Prevention, I know that was done by executive order, is there a chance that Trump undoes that with executive order? Because a lot of the stuff that was discussed two years ago with this Bipartisan Safer Communities Act
Starting point is 01:43:10 involved the funding of Red Flag. So even if there was opposition to the implementation of Red Flag Law or opposition to it outright, isn't there still a mechanism within that that incentivizes or funds the Red Flag program for different states? Well, as I mentioned, all states would get access to these funds whether they have a red flag law or not. My argument would be that it disincentivizes states from passing new red flag laws because if they want to get the funding. So they don't have to do it in order to get that funding. But I think, you know, things like Project Exile, as you point out, that started in Richmond, Virginia in a U.S. Attorney's Office, has, gone nationwide. We implemented Texas exile when I was Attorney General and making sure that people
Starting point is 01:44:06 who were repeat criminals who were prohibited from purchasing firearms or possessing them and who were using them to commit crimes were disincentivized, so to speak, from using those. And it actually, it actually worked pretty well. So, but targeting on criminal, targeting criminals and people who have got mental health commitments, I think is to me sort of the right way to go. I want to switch gears here real quick, Senator, while we have you for the limited amount of time we got left, the hearings for the nominations, it seems like, do you think Hegg Seth is going to get confirmed? It seems like he's now starting to get the support that I don't think he had in the beginning. Yeah, I think so. He really did well. I thought on
Starting point is 01:44:51 Monday on the at the Armed Services Committee. Democrats didn't lay a glove on him. Pete, you know, he's an honest guy. He said, you know, I'm a flawed human being. But again, who isn't? And he's changed. He's, I think, recognizes that the way he used to be what George Bush called his young and irresponsible days, that that's got to change. And so I think he's got a lot to offer as a combat veteran in shaking up the Pentagon, which desperately needs to be shaken up, to make sure that our war fighters have what they need in order to deter the next war. To me, it's not about fighting wars. It's about not fighting wars. And the only way you do that is by providing deterrence. And you do that by being the biggest, most powerful country in the
Starting point is 01:45:46 world as we are. Is there a nominee that you think may actually have a difficult time in getting confirmed? Is there one that sticks out to you that they're having trouble getting to the support that they need amongst the Senate? Well, I'm glad to say that Cash Patel, the nominee for the FBI, I think, is going to be relatively easily confirmed. I think those, the Department of Justice with Pam Bondi, Cash Patel at the FBI, those to me are some of the most important institutions that we need to restore to their previous non-political status. The two that are most in the press, I guess you could say, are Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Health and Human Services and Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence. Those hearings have not yet taken place.
Starting point is 01:46:37 Their FBI background check has not yet completed, and it may end up being early February before that happens. I'm not, I'm supportive of the nominees absent, you know, some extraordinary circumstances are surprised, but unfortunately, the longer this hangs out here, that means that the longer it takes for President Trump to get his team so he can hit the ground running. Yeah, you guys are definitely in a time crunch. You got six months until that midterm cycle starts. And as you know, everybody runs to the center for that. Texas Senator John Cornyn, well, we're watching this, we're going to watch this reciprocity out go through. And maybe you
Starting point is 01:47:16 can stick something in there, Senator, before you let you go about defunding states that do implement red flag. Maybe you can, is that possible you just stick that in there real fast? Somebody might notice. We don't want to we don't want to, we don't want to give people a reason to vote against this. Let's
Starting point is 01:47:34 save that for another day. All right. Well, we're watching it. Senator Corny, we appreciate joining us today. Thank you. Take care. Starting point is 01:49:16 I get that Biden and Harris are just like bippity-bop-ty-booting, you know, the ERA into the Constitution, but that's not how it works. This thing has been expired forever. It's dead. The equal rank, whatever. And a number of states have reversed their support of it. The Senate voted against it last year. So it's done.
Starting point is 01:49:32 I don't even know why we're talking about this. Today's stupidity came. Oh, it's the bullet we dodged. What? Kamala Harris.
