Welcome to the Data Stack Show Prequel, where we talk about the show that we just recorded to give you a little taste of what's to come.
We just chatted with Taylor, who leads product at Meltano, which is a fascinating company and out from GitLab. Started out in the ETL or ELT pipeline space and started working on a configuration layer
for the data stack, which is super interesting.
And Costas, I'm just going to be very selfish in this introduction and say that I felt so
validated based on our recent discussion around business logic moving further and further down the stack
that I think Meltano has the same thesis
because they're building, you know, sort of, you know,
a command line interface that allows you to manage
all sorts of interesting logic from the command line.
And so I feel very validated.
Do you agree with that?
Yeah, I do agree.
Why not?
But what like, I think like it's super exciting for me about like this
conversation is I had the pleasure like to spend some time with Taylor
discussing about what developer experience is and why it's unique, why
it's different, why it's
different than user experience.
And by the way, like it's something that's still like the industry
striked to define, so like that's, that's like, there's no, I'll say
that like we haven't institutionalized the knowledge around that yet.
So it was very interesting. I think it's going to be like super interesting for everyone like to hear about that.
And of course, like we discussed also like some other interesting
things about how you can balance quantity over quantity when it comes
to supporting connectors, what data ops is.
I mean, it's a great, great episode.
And I think like everyone who's like in this industry should listen to it.
And I think we are also going to have some surprises for future episodes that
came out of this episode.
So yeah, it's a special one for me, at least.
Yeah, I agree.
Definitely check it out.
This is one that you do not want to miss.
Of course, subscribe if you haven't.
You'll get notified when this episode goes live, along with additional episodes, including
Shop Talk, where I try to convince Costas to validate
my ideas about the future of data. And we will catch you on the next one.
