Starting point is 00:00:00 We just got done recording with Tejas from Netflix, and he is working on the coolest project. It's called Netflix Cloud, and it is what allows teams distributed around the world, artists to work on their media files in the cloud. And it was a mind-blowing conversation. Just some of the challenges that they're building for are pretty incredible. One thing that I was thinking about during this episode, Costas, was just how complicated large media files make working with data. And if you think about a lot of B2B SaaS companies, et cetera, you're dealing with customer records or behavioral analytics or all these sorts of types of data, even a consumer mobile app,
Starting point is 00:00:55 you can have a huge amount of data. But when you're talking about movie files, it really changes the game. And that was really clear from what Tejas is talking about. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I don't know. I have developed some kind of love with Netflix, to be honest, mainly because everyone from Netflix who came here on the show had some amazing stories to talk about
Starting point is 00:01:19 and some amazing technologies and products that they are working on. So I'm always very excited to have someone from Netflix on the show. And Netflix Drive is just another case like this. And it's very interesting to see that things that we take for granted and we consider solved today with Dropbox and Google Drive, actually, they're not that solved. There are more things to do on top of them. So yeah, I would ask, please listen to the episode.
Starting point is 00:01:53 It's going to be super, super interesting. And you'll hear some amazing stuff about what it means to build a distributed file system and why the problem is not solved with solutions like Google Drive and Dropbox. Yeah. Also, here's a little teaser. One of Tejas' other areas of expertise is blockchain.
Starting point is 00:02:15 And so we got some really interesting takes on how blockchain technology is going to affect the day-to-day lives of data engineers and how they work and what the future there looks like. So definitely tune in for that. We talked about that at the end of the episode and it was absolutely fascinating. So check it out.
