Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, everybody. Night two of the Democratic National Convention was last night. It was another wholesale brutalization of MAGA and Trump and everything they stand for. Some extraordinary speeches. We're going to look in more detail in the next segment at Michelle Obama's speech and Barack Obama's speech. So that's why they won't be part of this segment. But I want to show you some of the other speakers from last night and understand that as everything was happening last night, Donald Trump was making post after post after post after post after post after. But you get to truth social. These convention nights have been so wildly triggering to the guy because he knows he
Starting point is 00:00:54 doesn't have the crowds. He knows he doesn't have the polls. He knows he doesn't have the looks of Kamala Harris. He even said the other day, I'm better looking, which is Trump reminding us of his insecurity that he's not better looking. So let's look at some of the key moments from night number two. One moment that I found really powerful was when former Republican Anna Navarro. And I think this was so important for Latino voters to hear who sometimes get sucked into conspiracy theories. And you know, I say this as a Latino myself from Argentina. It was very powerful to hear Anna Navarro say, hey, you know what? Not only not only has the Republican Party led us astray, but they're lying about Kamala
Starting point is 00:01:43 being the communist. I've seen communism. This was really good. Let's be serious. Donald Trump and his minions called Kamala a communist. I know communism. I fled communism from Nicaragua when I was eight years old. I don't take it lightly.
Starting point is 00:02:04 And let me tell you what communist dictators do. And it's never just for one day. They attack the free press. They call them the enemy of the people, like Ortega does in Nicaragua. They put their unqualified relatives in cushy government jobs so they can get rich of their positions,
Starting point is 00:02:27 like the Castros do in Cuba. And they refuse to accept legitimate elections when they lose and call for violence to stay in power, like Maduro is doing right now in Venezuela. Now you tell me something. Do any of those things sound familiar? Is there anybody running for president who reminds you of that? And I know one thing, it's not Kamala Harris. That is not the America we love. It's not the land of freedom we treasure. Last night, we heard President Biden say that he loves his job, but he loves his country more.
Starting point is 00:03:17 Every American needs to love our country more. Every American has the duty to put our country first country first before party country first before political ambition. So you get it. She was very good. And I think that this was a very, very important message, maybe underrated. She didn't get a lot of media attention, but I think she should have because her speech was excellent.
Starting point is 00:03:44 Is Senator Tammy Duckworth. Tammy Duckworth went directly at Trump, given her status as a veteran. And it was brutal from the standpoint of Trump. This was very good. You know, I went to war to protect America's rights and freedoms. So I take it personally when a five time draft dodging coward like Donald Trump tries to take away tries to take away my rights and freedoms in return. She was excellent. One other moment from Senator Duckworth's speech talking about November and talking about cadet bone spurs referring to Donald Trump. But now Trump's anti-woman crusade has put other Americans right to have their own families at risk. Because if they win, Republicans will not stop at banning abortion.
Starting point is 00:04:49 They will come for IVF next. And they'll prosecute doctors. And they will shame and spy on women. And if you think that's far-fetched, just look up what happened in Alabama last year. So let me say to every would-be parent, I see you. I'm with you. And together, in November, we'll send a message to old cadet bone spurs. Stay out of our doctor's offices and we'll get added out of the Oval Office, too. She was genuinely excellent and was followed up by the Republican mayor of Mesa, Arizona, who said, I'm a little out of place here, just like he said at a recent Arizona rally for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. But the Republican Party of twenty twenty four is just not a reasonable place anymore.
Starting point is 00:06:01 This was also an important message for Republicans to hear. Speaker 4 Good evening. I have a confession place anymore. This was also an important message for Republicans to hear. Good evening. I have a confession to make. I'm a lifelong Republican. So I feel a little out of place tonight, but I feel more at home here than in today's Republican Party. The grand old party has been kidnapped by extremists and devolved into a cult, the cult of Donald Trump. Trump doesn't know the first thing about public service. Like a child, he acts purely out of self-interest. We all need an adult in the White House, and we've seen what happens when we don't have one. Trump made a lot of lofty promises. Unlimited economic growth, American manufacturing reborn,
Starting point is 00:06:56 a secure border. Turns out Donald Trump was all talk. He wanted our votes, but he couldn't deliver a thing. But these days, my city of Mesa, Arizona, is on the move. I'm going to ribbon cuttings every single week, all because Joe Biden and Kamala Harris reached across the aisle and they delivered for my conservative community. This is so important for Republicans who are skeptical of Trump to see Republicans saying, I was one of you. I've recognized what's going on. It's OK to vote for Kamala Harris in November for right wing Latino voters to see Anna Navarro, who used to be a right wing Latino voter, say, hey, you know what?
Starting point is 00:07:48 They've abandoned us. This is crazy. We need something different. This genuinely matters. Now, before we get to Michelle and Barack Obama in the next segment, one of the most interesting and to me powerful speeches yesterday was the second gentleman, Doug Emhoff. Doug Emhoff, extraordinarily personable, gregarious, articulate, really hitting a particular note with his speech. I'll play a couple of clips here for you, including, you know, this is a sort of really good Jewish mom joke that he alludes to. Hello to my big, beautiful, blended family up there. I love you so much.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Aren't you proud of Cole? Wow. And a special shout out to my mother. I see you. My mother is the only person in the whole world who thinks Kamala is the lucky one for marrying me. Well, we just saw where she is. She's out on the trail listening to and talking with voters. Honey, I can't wait for you to come back to Chicago because we're having a great time here. The crowd really reacting positively to Doug M. Hoff, Doug M. Hoff lining up here, sort of addressing the idea that there are some who might diminish their expectations of Kamala Harris on the basis that they don't necessarily know that
Starting point is 00:09:34 she's up to the tough task the way Trump claims to be. But Doug M. Hoff pointing out just because she's joyful doesn't mean she's not tough. Kamala is a joyful warrior. It's doing for her country what she has always done for the people that she loves. Her passion will benefit all of us when she's our president. And here's the thing about joyful warriors. They're still warriors. And Kamala is as tough as it comes.
Starting point is 00:10:11 Just ask the criminals, the global gangsters, and the witnesses before the Senate Judiciary Committee. She never runs from a fight. And she knows the best way to deal with a coward is to take him head on because we all know cowards are weak and Kamala Harris can smell weakness. She doesn't tolerate any BS. You've all seen that look. And you know that look I'm talking about. That look is not just a meme. It reflects her true belief in honest and direct leadership. Speaker 1 So a very good speech. And as I mentioned, Donald Trump melting down during absolutely all of this, melting down during all of this. Just a quick little tour of Trump's truth social post after post after post attacking New York Governor Kathy Hochul, posting videos of himself,
Starting point is 00:11:06 posting his various my endorsement was good, even if the endorsements are obvious or people who aren't even in a real primary race with no serious challenger posting post after post after post after post. Once you get beyond all of the I made the right pick in the primary posts and you've got to keep scrolling and scrolling. These we're talking about dozens of posts an hour. Trump posting that Kamala Harris supports the environmental extremist net zero energy policy, radical left agenda to abolish coal, oil, et cetera, et cetera.
Starting point is 00:11:42 Trump posting that U.S. citizens are allowed to vote, but illegals are not. Well, we already know that there's not even a way to register if you're an undocumented immigrant. Trump posting that the green energy agenda is terrible and it will destroy the country and it will all be bad. And post after post after post that I'm still scrolling, folks. This is all as RNC Day two is going on. So Trump is watching and Trump is triggered. And if you think Trump was triggered from these speeches, Tammy Duckworth and Doug Emhoff and others, you have to see Michelle Obama and Barack Obama speeches last night, which like them or hate them, agree with the vision they outline or not.
Starting point is 00:12:29 Two of the most powerful speeches in a very long time. So let's take a quick break. Make sure you're subscribed at YouTube dot com slash The David Pakman Show. And I'm so glad so many people, about 500000 people across both nights so far joining me for the live streams. I'll hope you'll join me tonight. Very quick break and then we'll continue our coverage of the DNC. You know, in the past, every time I move to a new place or it's time to redecorate, the one thing I have no clue about is window treatments. What's the best color? What's the right type of blind? What about this weirdly shaped window? I don't know how to install them. And that's why I turn to three day blinds
Starting point is 00:13:11 for blinds, shades, shutters and drapery. Our sponsor, three day blinds is the leading manufacturer of custom window treatments in the US. And my audience can buy one and get one 50 percent off. The David Pakman Show David Pakman dot com. 45 years in business. Three Day Blinds is the highest rated blinds company on Trustpilot. Starting point is 00:14:20 They happen all year, which means there's probably someone you should be buying a gift for right now. Give them something really special with an aura digital frame. Rank the number one digital picture frame by wire cutter or a frames are easy to set up, update and enjoy. Plus, you can preload your aura frame with photos and gift messages. So if you're giving the frame to someone, your sister, The David Pakman Show David Pakman dot com. and you can get a free copy of the free podcast at www.TheBestSellingFrontier.com. The David Pakman Show is directly supported by you. You know, we think of the Electoral College where we vote for the electors and then the electors vote for the president. It's sort of like if we had the backing of some big corporate media channel and by signing up for a cable subscription, you support the cable company and then the cable company gives us a little slice of that.
Starting point is 00:16:07 That's not the way we work here. This is a direct democracy. Your support directly goes to us and doing the show. And I invite you to sign up at join Pacman dot com. We have like a one week only extra coupon code for a discounted membership. It's a 60 percent discount. And the code is DNC. Not weird. The RNC was really weird. The DNC hasn't been. It's been quite the opposite. And you can use the coupon code DNC. Not weird to save 60 percent at join Pacman dot com.
Starting point is 00:16:42 Michelle Obama and Barack Obama delivered excellent speeches last night at the Democratic National Convention. We will start with Michelle and then move on to Barack Obama. Exactly. These speeches so shook MAGA to its core that you had Republican strategists after the fact saying, listen, I don't agree with the content that Scott Jennings guy said it on CNN. I don't agree with the content. There are exaggerations, whatever. But these are going really, really, really well. The energy welcoming Michelle Obama in Chicago at close to 11 p.m. Eastern time. Just. And it went on and on and on. But eventually, Michelle Obama got to the substance and there were one liners and there was policy and there was so much.
Starting point is 00:17:54 But maybe the line that got the biggest reaction of any DNC speech or convention speech in general that I can think of was the following line about Donald Trump and black jobs. Listen to this. I want to know. I want to know who's going to tell him who's going to tell him that the job he's currently seeking might just be one of those black jobs. Speaker 1 I don't know who wrote that. I don't know who came up with that. But credit to Michelle Obama for the absolutely perfect delivery. And it was exactly this sort of thing that Republicans saw. And they said, damn, this is going to be a tough one to win in November. Michelle Obama, in a way that was
Starting point is 00:19:00 indirect but clear, stating that there is an affirmative action that Trump has benefited from. And she explains it in this segment. She understands that most of us will never be afforded the grace of failing forward. We will never benefit from the affirmative action of generational wealth. The crowd immediately gets what she's talking about. If we bankrupt the business, if we bankrupt the business or choke in a crisis, we don't get a second, third, or fourth chance.
Starting point is 00:19:47 If things don't go our way, we don't have the luxury of whining or cheating others to get further ahead. No. We don't get to change the rules so we always win. If we see a mountain in front of us, we don't expect there to be an escalator waiting to take us to the top. Speaker 1 Talking about generational wealth as affirmative action, referring to the escalator that Donald Trump often refers to again, I don't know who wrote this. She gets credit at minimum for the perfect delivery. Maybe she wrote it. Maybe she is a speechwriter. Maybe it was a comedy. I don't know. But the classy but also clear way in which she paints a very competing and starkly different vision of what it means to go back to four more years of that
Starting point is 00:20:39 nonsense orange guy versus what is here on the table and available with Kamala Harris and Tim Walz is excellent. Also, another moment that I thought was very good. Michelle Obama addressing those who find that Kamala Harris isn't perfect, but might end up, depending on what they do, helping to elect Donald Trump. But as we embrace this renewed sense of hope, let us not forget the despair we have felt. Let us not forget what we are up against. Yes, Kamala and Tim are doing great now. We're loving it. They're packing arenas across the country. Folks are energized. We are feeling good. But remember, there are still so many people who are desperate for a different outcome, who are ready to question and criticize every move Kamala makes, who are eager to spread those lies, who don't want to vote for a woman, who will continue to prioritize
Starting point is 00:21:47 building their wealth over ensuring that everyone has enough. So no matter how good we feel tonight or tomorrow or the next day, this is going to be an uphill battle. So folks, we cannot be our own worst enemies. Right. No. See, because the minute something goes wrong, the minute a lie takes hold, folks, we cannot start wringing our hands. We cannot get a Goldilocks complex about whether everything is just right. And we cannot indulge our anxieties about whether this country will elect someone like Kamala instead of doing everything we can to get someone like Kamala elected. One of the best speeches in a very long time, extraordinarily well received, well written, well delivered. And this led us up to the final speech of night two at the DNC, which we will talk about next. And that was a speech from former President Barack Obama.
Starting point is 00:23:06 Barack Obama is still a figure that is so uniting for a large swath of the country and painfully triggering, dysregulating and disorienting for those who deeply, deeply despise him. And that was very much in evidence from the reaction to last night's speech. We're going to look at a bunch of different parts of Barack Obama's speech on night two of the DNC. But the moment that was something else was not only Barack Obama mentioning Trump's age, which is increasingly an area of concern for voters. Not only Barack Obama mentioning that escalator, that damn escalator that Trump keeps talking about, but Barack Obama talking about Trump's obsession with size and using his hands to allude to penis size as what Trump is really insecure about.
Starting point is 00:24:05 And this set off right wingers. Oh, name calling. They're going low. They're going to address that in a moment. Here is the full lead up to this incredible moment from Barack Obama. The people who will decide this election are asking a very simple question. Who will fight for me? Who's thinking about my future, about my children's future,
Starting point is 00:24:32 about our future together? One thing is for certain, Donald Trump is not losing sleep over that question. Here's a 78-year-old billionaire who has not stopped whining about his problems since he rode down his golden escalator nine years ago. It has been a constant stream of gripes and grievances that's actually been getting worse now that he's afraid of losing to Kamala. There's the childish nicknames. The crazy conspiracy theories.
Starting point is 00:25:24 This weird obsession with crowd sizes. The crazy conspiracy theories. This weird obsession with crowd sizes. So listen, that is not it. That is a clip. That is a moment that is not shriveling one bit on social media. You could argue it's mushrooming, really. And the big part of it, I'm going to play it once more. Just that last piece. It's the hand gesture and Obama himself
Starting point is 00:25:51 looking down at his own hand. There's the childish nicknames, the crazy conspiracy theories, this weird obsession with crowd sizes. Now, all of a sudden, Republicans are saying, oh, that's so low, that's so low. It's an ad hominem. It's low brow. It's name calling all of the things that they've been doing for years now. That was beautifully executed satire that goes directly to the heart of Donald Trump's insecurities. What is really Trump's insecurity when he talks about the size of his crowd? It is not what I would run a campaign on Trump's penis size, but as an absolutely brilliantly
Starting point is 00:26:42 executed interlude of satire in a speech that overall was excellent, I have no problem with it whatsoever. Here's another great moment from Barack Obama's speech last night. We need a president who actually cares about the millions of people all across this country who wake up every single day to do the essential, often thankless work to care for our sick, to clean our streets, to deliver our packages. We need a president who will stand up for their right to bargain for better wages and working conditions.
Starting point is 00:27:20 And Kamala will be that president. Yes, she can chant breaking out. And then Barack Obama very astutely reminding everyone, we kind of know what four more years of Trump would be like. We have the first four years as a reminder. And the sequel is usually not quite as good from a guy whose act has, let's face it, gotten pretty stale. We do not need four more years of bluster and bumbling and chaos. We have seen that movie before and we all know that the sequel is usually worse. America's ready for a new chapter. America's ready for a better story. We are ready for a president, Kamala Harris.
Starting point is 00:28:40 And then finally, Barack Obama closing out the speech to significant enthusiasm. That's an understatement. We each do our part over the next 77 days. If we knock on doors, if we make phone calls, if we talk to our friends, if we listen to our neighbors, if we work like we've never worked before, if we hold firm to our convictions, we will elect Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States and Tim Lowell as the next Vice President of the United States. We will elect leaders up and down the ballot who will fight for the hopeful, forward-looking America we all believe in. And together, we too will build
Starting point is 00:29:34 a country that is more secure and more just, more equal and more free. So let's get to work. God bless you. And God bless the United States of America. And the reaction, of course, to the Obamas, both of them, really a reminder of the fact that it is not that there is lack of enthusiasm for the ideas. It's that you need the right people delivering those ideas. And Barack Obama closing out night two tonight. Tim Walz will formally accept being the vice presidential running mate. Bill Clinton will speak. I hope you'll join me
Starting point is 00:30:25 probably 8 p.m., 830 p.m. Eastern Time. These these have been going late, that's for sure. Wish I was on the West Coast. Let me put it that way. I could get to bed a lot earlier, but an excellent second night. And I hope to see you tonight for night three. If you had any remaining question, any remaining question about the disingenuous nature of the RFK Junior Nicole Shanahan presidential run, I hope that this clip does away with that. Yesterday, Nicole Shanahan, who is Robert F. Kennedy Junior's running mate, appeared on Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu.
Starting point is 00:31:04 By the way, I'll be on that show in a couple of weeks. And she admits, you know, we might drop out and endorse Trump. Now, I could just cut to where she says that. But I want to give you the lead up. And I know it takes her forever to make a point. It's painful to get through all of it. But here she lays it all out. She says they are now considering, do we just bail and endorse Donald Trump? Not exactly the independent thinking and stick to itiveness that they've been trying to push. Listen to this. What my gut tells me right now is that we just have to keep being honest. I got to just keep being honest. I got to keep focusing on what matters the most outside of party lines. I need to focus on a vision that goes beyond November.
Starting point is 00:31:59 And if that means that we stay in and, you know, there's benefits to staying in. If we get over 5% of the vote, we actually establish ourselves as a party. 71% of Americans want a strong third party with a real shot at winning. There's even public funds available if we get over 5% of the vote. So we could get, I think it's like $13.5 million in public funds available if we get over 5% of the vote. So we could get, I think it's like 13 and a half million dollars in public funds to keep. Okay. Just, just stick with it. I know it's painful. I know it's painful. Party going. And, and that's, you know, that's worth something. That means that we can position for a real third party election in 2028 where we don't have to go around and spend tens of millions of dollars on ballot access, which means that we can spend all of that time and money campaigning. OK, stick with it. She's about to get to it. So, you know, there's two options that we're looking at.
Starting point is 00:33:10 And one is staying in forming that new party. But we run the risk of a Kamala Harris, Kamala Harris and Walt's presidency because we draw votes from Trump or we draw somehow more votes from Trump or. I love how she says we somehow draw more votes from Trump. Yeah, like and like you're going to trick large swaths of Democrats into voting for you. OK, so now here's the big or that she lays out. We walk away right now and join forces with with Donald Trump. And, you know, we walk away from that and we explain to our base why we're making this decision. Not easy.
Starting point is 00:33:55 Clearly. Yeah, that is right. That's what they're considering. They're considering walking away right now and joining forces with Donald Trump. How do all of the donors who have been donating to RFK? I mean, I guess I think they exist. I don't know anyone who's donated to the guy, but they must exist. How do the donors feel who donated on the premise that he's sticking with it and they're going to go all the way to the end and they're going to go all the way to the end and they're going to get their five, their 10 percent, whatever he is now thinking, according to Nicole Shanahan. Now, he you know, they don't even seem to be I don't even know if they speak.
Starting point is 00:34:34 I don't even know if RFK and Nicole Shanahan speak. So he may just go, oh, yeah, no, she's wrong. We weren't we're not thinking about that. But as far as she's saying, they are currently considering walking away, joining forces with Trump to defeat Kamala Harris, which sounds like I would endorse Trump. Trump also yesterday when asked about would you have RFK in your administration, said, yeah, I would absolutely look at that. Are you now ready to bail or are you still sticking with this guy? And it's it's just like the toolsy stuff. A fraction of my audience got bamboozled by it and most of them it took years, but they figured it out. There's a slice of people getting bamboozled by RFK Shanahan.
Starting point is 00:35:18 It's sad to see. It's sad to see. But that's what they're now thinking about. cocoa drink with melatonin clinically proven to help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. Starting point is 00:36:43 The info is in the podcast notes. There are two big problems with the cheap plastic disposable razors. Two thirds of people have skin irritation and then over two billion plastic razors enter our landfills in the United States alone. Now, our sponsor, Henson Shaving, solves both problems with the plastic disposable razors. You have unstable blades wobbling around as you shave, which causes the irritation. It's like if you were cutting something with scissors or a knife and the blade is wiggling. That's what's happening to your face with the cheap razors. So here's the solution. Razors produced by Henson have a blade that extends only point zero zero one
Starting point is 00:37:22 three inches past the shave plane. And that means no blade movement, more comfort before and after The David Pakman Show David Pakman dot com. the blade itself. The razor will last you a lifetime. Better for your wallet. Much better for the planet. S.O.N. shaving dot com slash Pacman. Use code Pacman for free blades after adding them to your cart. The info is in the podcast notes. Let's talk some campaign strategy. Donald Trump has been slipping in the polls ever since Kamala Harris replaced Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee for president. And despite being a force in politics for nearly a decade, Trump has not been effectively navigating the political winds of the
Starting point is 00:38:25 last month. He is seeming diminished, shriveled, flaccid, fill in the blanks, right? Whatever words you want. And today we are going to look into the attacks that Trump, MAGA and Republicans have been levying against Kamala Harris in their first month running against one another, why these attacks just aren't landing and why Trump's own conservative allies in media and politics are starting to beg him, change your strategy. You're going to lose. Yet he seems completely unable to course correct. So, first of all, why was Trump winning against Joe Biden?
Starting point is 00:39:00 It seems now, in retrospect, that it had a lot more to do with Biden than it did with Trump. Steve Schmidt told us on the show yesterday, whoever the race is about is losing. The race used to be about Joe Biden. It no longer is. And despite the understanding by Democrats that Joe Biden has been a historically successful president, he was suffering from low approval ratings because of his age, because of perceptions about cognitive ability and the perception that there were some issues where, at least according to the right, he was doing a poor job with, for example, inflation and the border, even if that's not what the empirical empirical facts show us. Perception is reality in these situations.
Starting point is 00:39:45 So to present himself as the kind of viable alternative to all of this, all Trump really had to do is appear more energetic, sharper than Biden, which most of the time he was able to do, especially if you weren't paying very close attention to those rallies, complain about the economy, complain about immigration, present yourself as the viable alternative and hope that people would look back at his four years through rose colored glasses rather than the disaster that his presidency was. And that strategy, to a degree, worked for Trump. It led to the polls showing Trump winning every swing state shortly before Biden dropped
Starting point is 00:40:24 out the popular vote in some polls, betting markets, putting Trump as the favorite with Joe Biden dropping out and Kamala Harris entering the race. It immediately became clear that the same playbook was not going to work against her and that much of Trump's advantage had nothing to do with Trump, but it had to do with Biden. So all of a sudden, for all of these independent voters worries about age and competency of the president, Harris became the clear choice. She's 20 years younger than Trump.
Starting point is 00:40:54 She doesn't glitch or ramble about electrocution, sharks, tic tacs and who knows what else? The petty grievances that Trump does. And also, in an instant, Donald Trump was no longer the change candidate. Despite being a former president, he could play the role against Joe Biden, the incumbent. Yet he can't do that against Kamala Harris because she hasn't been president. Yes, she's been VP. VPs don't set policy before Biden dropped out. The polling from the public indicated they were sick of Trump and Biden and wanted a fresh face to vote for.
Starting point is 00:41:34 That's what Kamala Harris has provided. And even going after Kamala Harris on the economy is not seeming particularly effective because now voters believe she would be better at handling the economy than Trump. There's a recent Financial Times poll which finds that Kamala Harris has a one point advantage over Trump when it comes to handling the economy, which is remarkable because Republicans just tend to win. Even if you look at the economic metrics and they're all better under Democrats, job creation, stock market performance, unemployment, inflation, you look at all of it. It's better historically under Democrats.
Starting point is 00:42:08 The belief among many voters is Republicans are better for the economy. In the Financial Times poll, Kamala Harris is polling a point ahead of Trump on the economy. So this suggests that despite being number two in command within the Biden administration, Kamala Harris has been able to effectively distance herself from the less popular components of Joe Biden's tenure. And with several of the advantages that Trump had in the race being stripped away, it became clear he's going to need a new line of attack. So that gets us to, well, what does he come up with? So far, nothing that's working.
Starting point is 00:42:46 Trump's instinct was go back to what worked in 2016. One of the tactics is name calling, as he did with Crooked Hillary, Sleepy Joe. But laughing Kamala, crazy Kamala, comrade Kamala Kamala. These are just not catching on. It seems like a tired old gimmick. Trump's almost 80 years old. It seems childish. It seems immature.
Starting point is 00:43:11 It seems narcissistic. All things that Trump is. And Trump has also followed the Republican trend of deliberately mispronouncing her name to make her seem foreign. He says Kamala Camilla Camilla, you know, and we know he's doing it on purpose because there are other moments where it seems like it's in private where he pronounces it correctly. Liberal Kamala Harris gets in. And by the way, there are numerous ways of saying her
Starting point is 00:43:37 name. They were explaining to me, you can say Kamala, you can say Kamala. I said, don't worry about it. Doesn't matter what I say. I couldn't care less if I mispronounce it or not. I couldn't kill it. He also resorted to what launched his political career, which is the racism and xenophobia. Remember that Trump burst onto the political scene with the claim that Barack Obama wasn't really born in the United States, that the first black president needs to show us not the short form, but the long form version of his birth certificate to show us he's really an American who's eligible to be president.
Starting point is 00:44:09 And similarly, Trump has gone after Kamala Harris's race, saying she's been deceptive. Here he is speaking to the National Association of Black Journalists, where he said Kamala used to be Indian and she became black. It was always of Indian heritage and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn't know she was black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn black and now she wants to be known as black. So I don't know, is she Indian or is she black? She has always identified as a black college. I respect either one, but she obviously doesn't because she was Indian all the way. And then all of a sudden she made a turn and she went she became a black person.
Starting point is 00:44:49 Now in addition to going after her race, Trump has gone after Kamala's gender reports that he regularly calls her a bitch behind closed doors. He's recycling talking points from 2016 that he used against Hillary Clinton, calling her nasty, saying she's Clinton, calling her nasty, saying she's dumb, insulting her intelligence, mocking her laugh. He's even gone after her looks, arguing that he is the better looking candidate. But I say that I am much better looking than her. I think I'm much better. I'm a better looking person than Kamala. Trump and other Republicans have claimed that Kamala Harris is a DEI candidate, diversity,
Starting point is 00:45:31 equity and inclusion. Sort of a she's only here because of some kind of affirmative action type of argument that she wouldn't be in the position she's in were it not for some combination of her race and gender. Now put aside for a moment how Trump has benefited from a different kind of affirmative action, which was pointed out by Michelle Obama in her DNC speech, being born with a silver spoon in your mouth, generational wealth and has benefited from his own identity, his own inherent characteristics. Put that aside for a moment. What Trump is saying about Kamala
Starting point is 00:46:00 Harris comes off, comes off as hugely insulting to women and minority voters and anyone who knows a woman or a minority voter, or at least it should. So it's no wonder why so many right wingers, Nikki Haley, Megyn Kelly, Lindsey Graham, have been cautioning Trump against this approach. But he seems unable to help himself. Trump probably credits these lines of attack for his victory in 2016. And to some degree, I think he's right. It very well may have worked for him then, but it's eight years later. It doesn't seem to be working right now. And perhaps the biggest problem Trump faces is himself because his own ego prevents him from being able to course correct a normal, well-adjusted person would be able to see the way I'm attacking
Starting point is 00:46:55 Kamala along racial lines, gender lines, intelligence lines. It's not working. I need to change my strategy, maybe try to focus on issues, maybe do what Tim Miller said, which is just like talk about how she's really far left, even though she's not. But Donald Trump can't bring himself to do that. He seems constitutionally unable. When he was asked by a reporter why he keeps attacking Kamala on personal grounds, he said it's because he feels he's entitled to do it. I think I'm entitled to personal attacks.
Starting point is 00:47:24 I don't have a lot of respect for her. I don't have a lot of respect for her intelligence. And I think she'll be a terrible president. Changing his strategy now would be sort of like getting rid of J.D. Vance. Now, it's a tacit admission that the strategy was not working, that it was a failure. But Trump's ego is too big. It's too fragile for him to do it. Plus, he genuinely seems to enjoy levying racist and sexist attacks. So Trump's advisers and Republican surrogates are urging him choose a better strategy. Attack Kamala because she's too liberal. Point to her voting record in the Senate.
Starting point is 00:47:57 The Bernie Sanders like progressive. She chose as her running mate, Tim Walls. Come up with something different here. We had again when Tim Miller, a Republican strategist, was on the show recently, he said that that's what would give Trump and Republicans the best shot at winning paint Kamala as a radical who is just too far left. But Trump has not been doing this effectively because these very same fear mongering claims and predictions that he's made about Kamala he used to make about Hillary Clinton. He used to make about Joe Biden.
Starting point is 00:48:26 So it just sounds like more of the same. If Biden wins, we'll have a 1929 style crash. We didn't. But stock market's doing great. If Kamala wins, we'll have a 1929 style crash. Well, what was that thing Bush said? Fool me once. You can't get fooled again.
Starting point is 00:48:40 Something like that. Trump also seems unwilling or uninterested in delving into policy specifics, which would be necessary to engage in this line of policy attack. Another issue Trump's had is that he's been getting sidetracked with things that really aren't important to the election outcome. He's worried about holding rallies at venues that Kamala Harris went to or plans to go to in order to compare crowd sizes. And he's increasingly terrified that her crowd sizes are dwarfing his. He's panicking over TV ratings that we are seeing around the DNC and Kamala Harris's
Starting point is 00:49:15 DNC acceptance speech. So this just confirms Trump's eye is not on the ball. As far as the next president, it doesn't really depend on who has the biggest crowd or the biggest ratings during the convention. Speak. It's who of speech. It's who brings out the most voters, particularly in key battleground states before Election Day.
Starting point is 00:49:37 And all of this coming full circle explains why Trump is fumbling around right now. He's free falling in the polls. He can't stay on message. The rallies are boring. The interviews are deranged. He can't suppress his inner sexism, which is really not working in 2024 the way it worked in 2016. Kamala Harris, in some sense, appears to be Donald Trump's kryptonite. But maybe the even bigger threat to Trump at this point,
Starting point is 00:50:07 with just 10 or so weeks to go, is that of his own character flaws. If Trump can't change his strategy and have some change in the polls as a result of that over the next two and a half months, the most likely outcome is that Kamala Harris is elected as the 47th president of the United States. This doesn't mean she will win, but it is increasingly clear that something is very wrong with Trump's campaign. And unless he really has a good plan to steal it, which he tried to do in 2020. So this is not just hyperbole. He may just be counting on. I don't really need to win in the real way because I've got a good plan to steal it unless that's his plan, unless he's able to turn it around. He's going to lose,
Starting point is 00:50:56 assuming we all vote. So let me know info at David Pakman dot com. Where do you see Trump's campaign failing and what should he be doing to get a better shot at this? He's running out of time. That's the really critical part. Data brokers are constantly gathering vast amounts of information about your online activities, address, phone number, email, financial details, even political affiliations. Anyone, including your ex or your boss, can easily find your personal information on public data search sites. They sell this data to other companies, the FBI and NSA, even buy this data in bulk to monitor
Starting point is 00:51:40 Americans without a warrant. These data set lists are also where scammers and spammers get your information to send, call, text and email you. But you can stop them. Our sponsor, Incogni, sends data removal requests to data brokers who are legally required to comply. If any information stays online, Incogni will follow up and make sure that it's removed. And they keep you updated every step of the way. So you will know when your data has been removed, saves you hundreds of hours of work. Almost no one could do this on their own. The sticking and the rubbing are something many of us know all too well. But our sponsor, sheath underwear, puts it to an end once and for all. Sheath underwear is ultra light and breathable. You can barely tell it's there. But importantly, sheath is uniquely designed with two pouches in the front that separate everything out, giving you an extra confidence boost throughout the day. Starting point is 00:53:11 No more sweating and sticking. Sheath underwear is the type of thing that's hard to fully appreciate until you've tried it. Try a pair yourself and you'll finally understand the level of comfort and morale that you've been missing out on. They come in a bunch of different designs. They have something for everybody. Starting point is 00:53:48 underwear dot com slash Pacman and use the code Pacman for 20 percent off. The link is in the podcast notes. Donald Trump seems to be adopting a strategy. I don't know if it's a strategy, but he seems to be adopting a strategy of doing lowbrow entertainment podcasts in order to try to become the president of the United States. Now, if he can do it, it would be extraordinary. I don't know that it's going to work. And the latest in this is he appeared on the Theo Vaughn podcast. Trump claims that his audio was perfect during that Twitter Twitter spaces fiasco with Elon Musk and says that there were a lot. He says that
Starting point is 00:54:35 the reason he sounded slurry was there were a lot of people. There were a lot of people coming into a cell phone and it doesn't sound like he understands how anything works, but he's making excuses. And what's funny is even in this video where he says he wasn't slurring his S's, he's kind of slurring his S's. So it's all kind of like what's going on with this guy's brain. We had an exciting event the other night with Elon, Elon Musk and me. I listened. We had a pretty big audience for that one. I can tell you. Yeah, I listened for probably about like 20 minutes. I thought it was cool. I think the tough part was just like it would have been neat if you guys could have been in the same spot, you know? But I still thought it was exceptional.
Starting point is 00:55:16 I heard the audio was great. And actually they put out a clear tape of it because they had clear tape. Oh, nice. They had so many millions and millions of people watching like record numbers of people. And I'm trying to figure out we're on a cell phone or I was. And, you know, that's a lot of people coming into a cell phone one way. That's the best he it's I don't know what Trump believes happened when he was on Twitter spaces. But it sounds like he thinks he was on a on like a conference call with with a million people or something like everybody was on his
Starting point is 00:55:51 phone. And maybe that's why it sounded like he was slurring that you just can't write this stuff. The other. Yeah. But I heard some people had a problem with the audio. I don't know. I don't do that thing. You know, that was done. And we had a great conversation. It was for two hours and 15 minutes. He's slurring his S's in this video where he says that he wasn't slurring his S's on the spaces. They just put out a clear tape of it, a perfect tape of it. But I think it feels like I only got through 20 minutes the first time because it was so, so stupid. But I'll have to go back and listen again just to hear you not slurring. It's like it's the blind leading the blind.
Starting point is 00:56:33 But he said your voice was distorted or something. And and, you know, I guess it happens. Look, it was such a big thing, such a big audience. But I would have I would have loved to have seen the clear tape originally. They put it out right after the show, so now it's a clear tape. Yeah. A perfect tape done there. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:52 When it goes through different phone systems and everything else, you think if we were together that doesn't happen then. Because I think his voice was more clear. Yeah, maybe because he was the one who was, like, initiating the call. I'm not sure. Yeah, I'm not sure about how. So I guess this may not be a podcast. This is a podcast where you would expect, you know, you would expect podiatry to be discussed, but I would not have expected them to be all up on communications technology necessarily. Trump complains that before Elon bought Twitter, his tweets would be red flagged.
Starting point is 00:57:28 And Theo says it was like having a babysitter into play. Yeah. The previous people were terrible, terrible. Yeah. Every time you do a thing, you'd be red flagged. Every statement you made, you'd be red flagged. Yeah. They just it's almost like, yeah, it's like when you have a babysitter and they don't want to have any fun or whatever. Yeah. Yeah. That's kind of the vibe I got. Really just riveting, riveting stuff in all seriousness. One of the more interesting moments. And this applies that the most interesting Trump has ever been to me is when he talks about why he doesn't use drugs or drink alcohol that came up because Theo Vaughn is in recovery. I will I will give credit. This is the only interesting thing I've ever when Trump talks
Starting point is 00:58:12 about shark electrocutions, it's like, oh, give me a break. This is sort of like it personalizes Trump in a way. I actually found it a little bit interesting. Yeah. Yeah. I noticed at the events you don't drink and you don't drink or smoke, right? I don't drink or smoke. You never have? No, I never have. I had a great brother who taught me a lesson, don't drink, don't drink. And he said don't smoke. He smoked and he drank, and he was a great guy.
Starting point is 00:58:36 He was a handsome, very handsome guy. Is he older? He was older? Quite a bit older, yeah. And he had a problem with alcohol and smoke a lot but you know i tell people no drugs no drinking no cigarettes yeah i tell that to my kids all the time i'd say no drugs no drinking no smoke and um it was tough he had well he'd always tell me he'd say never so he was uh you, really old enough that you would look up to somebody,
Starting point is 00:59:08 and I'd look up to him anyway. Did you admire him? Yeah, I admired a lot, so much about him. He had so much going, he had the look. What was his name? Unbelievable personality, like an incredible personality. What was his name, Donald? His name was Fred, Fred Trump. And he had a problem with
Starting point is 00:59:26 alcohol. He got addicted to it because it's, and you know, they say alcohol is tougher than drugs to get off of. I've, I don't know if you've ever heard that. I was in recovery. Actually, I've been in, I've been in recovery. So like most of the last 10 years from alcohol, from drugs and alcohol, which, which is worse for me. Drugs is the problem. But if I have a drink, then I, it's tougher for me to prevent myself from getting it. It sets off a chain. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:52 But is, which is harder to quit? I've heard alcohol is harder to quit than drugs. If that makes sense. I don't know. Oh yeah. I mean, I can only imagine cause it's probably more readily available. More readily. Well, and it's social and you're sitting and everyone's drinking and all.
Starting point is 01:00:07 This is Trump's peak. He's never, ever, ever as relatable. Or interesting as when he talks about his brother who died from substance use disorders of various kinds. He he still sounds confused. He's still slurring. It's all crazy. But that's as interesting and personal as Trump can be. There was one moment where it's like what worlds colliding Theo Vaughn kind of teaching Donald Trump about how cocaine works. No, I would just do cocaine. That was really. Yeah. So not just yet. And it was down
Starting point is 01:00:43 and down and dirty, right? Yeah, and this is – yeah, I mean it was – yeah. But you don't anymore? No, I don't do it anymore, man, and I'm not doing it. Is it too much? Too much to handle? Some of the stuff started to get a real rattle in it too. I don't know where we were even getting it from in this country, but yeah, it started to make me feel like I was a mechanic or something.
Starting point is 01:01:00 So the thing you go back to then is alcohol for the most part. Right, yeah, but what I want probably is cocaine. But I know that if I have a drink, then it'll give me, it'll be like, okay, well, I had a drink. Then I can do this. Is cocaine a stronger up? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you're way up with cocaine more than anything else you can think of. Cocaine will turn you into a damn owl, homie.
Starting point is 01:01:22 You know what I'm saying? You'll be out on your own porch. You'll be you into a damn owl, homie. You know what I'm saying? It'll you'll be you'll be out on your own porch, you know, and you'll you'll be your own street lamp. You're frickin. And is that a good feeling? Well, it's a miserable feeling. But you do it anyway, just like the guy you're saying with the scotch like you had it. No, I would.
Starting point is 01:01:38 OK, so anyways, I mean, very interesting. I just don't know that this helps Trump win. And then finally, what? Maybe just a funny moment when Trump mentions the economy was great when he was president. Theo Vaughn says, oh, yeah, it was so good that my cousin bought a boat. And I can't tell if he's kidding with the greatest economy in history. When I was president, we. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:58 My cousin got a boat. Yeah, we had the best. And again, I have no clue if that is for real or not. But I question Trump's strategy of doing the Nelk Boys, Aiden Ross and Theo Vaughn's shows as a viable strategy for winning this election. I want to hear from you about it. Let me know what you think. I think that I can accurately say that a crowd of dozens, I think it's accurate this time,
Starting point is 01:02:27 saw Donald Trump speak in Howell, Michigan. I couldn't tell you whether this was supposed to be about the economy or more likely about crime because there were police there. But take a look at this, a a basically empty room that Trump spoke to. He was barely awake for it. And Fox News ended up having to cut the feed. Look at this. So a few dozen people seems to be about half media and Trump kicking it off, just seeming super sedated and sleepy once again. We really feel good about the state and the area.
Starting point is 01:03:11 We're doing very well here. Just got a phone that was very good. A lot of good polls in the last couple of days. Thank you to the Livingston County Sheriff's Department for. So this sedated Trump that's been showing up, we don't know if it's like a depression type of thing or whether it's that he's really upset that he's losing or whether it is related to substances. But maybe the wildest moment of this entire thing is that Trump says when you try to go get bread, no, it's not the idea thing. I know for a while
Starting point is 01:03:43 Trump's been saying you need an idea to buy bread. Trump says that when you go to go get bread, no, it's not the idea thing. I know for a while Trump's been saying you need an idea to buy bread. Trump says that when you go to buy bread in Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's America, you get raped. This is it's just insane. But you can't walk across the street to get a loaf of bread. You get shot, you get mugged, you get raped, you get whatever it may be. And you've seen it and I've seen it. I mean, I guess in some sense, Trump would know about sexual assault.
Starting point is 01:04:10 He's been found civilly liable of sexual assault. There was a lawsuit that named Trump as a child rapist, which was ultimately dropped before ever getting to the sort of end of the of the legal process. But what would Trump know about this anyway? Right. I mean, he's got his various country clubs. He's got his private jet. It's now down for repair.
Starting point is 01:04:32 So he's using Jeffrey Epstein's old private jet. He's watching TV. You know, he's posting to Truth Central and playing golf. Like what? What is his contact with everyday life where he would even know this? And then once again, the sedated nature of what Trump is sounding like is raising real questions about what's happening. They have they just I have not slowed this down. Just so people have it out for the police.
Starting point is 01:04:59 Nobody knows why. I don't understand why. From a common sense, I like to say the Republican Party is now the party of common sense. Conservative. Yeah, I guess conservative. It doesn't matter. Notice how everybody sense everybody standing behind him is frozen. They just there's no reaction whatsoever.
Starting point is 01:05:16 We want to have borders. We want to have strong police protection. We want a military. They can protect us. We want great school, school choice. Ideally, we want to have. We want great school school choice. Ideally, we want to have we want to have a good life. We want to be safe. But let's review Kamala's pro crime. Anyway, these are getting really, really, really boring. Trump says, why wouldn't suburban
Starting point is 01:05:41 women like me? They should like me. So when I return to the White House, we will stop the plunder, rape, slaughter and destruction of our American suburbs, our cities and towns. And I think that women living in the suburbs, I keep hearing about the suburban woman doesn't like Trump. Well, I think it's a fake poll because I would they like me? I'm going to I keep the suburbs safe. I stopped low income towers from rising right alongside of their house. These low energy events don't seem to be playing
Starting point is 01:06:12 to Trump's strengths, which I'm not really sure what Trump's strengths are. I think it's insulting people, but he seems tired and bored at these. And I'll just do a little bit more of this. Here's Trump talking about nuclear and woke in terms of crime and all. But it's very dangerous in terms of a possible World War Three. We're very close to World War Three and people don't realize it. We're closer than we've ever been, I think, ever since World War Two. But this would be the war of wars because of weaponry. This isn't, as I say, two army tanks going back and forth, shooting at each other. The level of power, the level of weaponry that there is in the world today is is so bad. It's so dangerous. It's so bad. And you need the right person to be president. You know, we had no war
Starting point is 01:07:03 when I was president, except that I totally defeated 100 percent of the ISIS caliphate. So it's just droning. I mean, you could sort of like dip in and out at absolutely any time. And of course, these get so bad that even Fox News had to say, we're out. They shouldn't arrest people for saying the election was rigged, but they like that. They go they go. No one has been arrested for saying the election was rigged, but they like that. They go, they go after. No one has been arrested for saying the election was rigged.
Starting point is 01:07:28 The guys like me, but they don't go after people that kill people. It's a shame what's happened in our country, but we're going to turn it around. We're going to win big and we're going to turn it around. We're going to turn it around fast. Thank you. All right. President Trump speaking in how Michigan this afternoon and clearly the focus is law and order. Law enforcement has. So anyway, Martha McCallum, a little bit tickled by, I think, how terrible and sedated that was.
Starting point is 01:07:59 So I don't know that this as a contrast to what's happening at the DNC every night is helping Trump. Certainly, I would expect a pretty substantial bump for Kamala Harris, especially when this is the alternative that's being presented on TV. But that was Trump and really, really struggling there. We've got a great bonus show for you today. We will talk about the controversy that has been generated over the walls is IVF versus IUI.
