Well, we start today with some tragic news.
You know, those of us in the pro-choice, pro-bodily autonomy, get Trump out of the room with you
in a doctor movement.
We've been saying for years, warning for years, women will die thanks to the Roe v.
Wade repeal and the impacts in states and bans on abortion that have been passed at the state level.
States slowly passing bans after the overturning of Roe v. Wade, thanks to the three Supreme Court
justice that Donald justices that Donald Trump selected. This is now starting to happen. Now, there have been many such suspected
deaths for a while, but we now have as a specific story and anecdote to look at the first confirmed specific such case ProPublica doing some really good work on this.
Her name was Amber Nicole Thurman.
She had taken the pill for a medical abortion and had a complication.
The fetal tissue was not totally cleared from her body.
This is not normally a major medical emergency.
This is not normally something that leads to negative or bad outcomes. But she got an infection
and she showed up at Piedmont Henry Hospital for in Georgia for what is normally a routine procedure called the DNC. But a new Georgia law
makes it a felony to do the procedure with very rare exceptions. The doctors could be prosecuted,
could get a decade in prison. So Thurman waited. She had a six year old son. What happens to him? He needs to be taken care of.
But Thurman is waiting. The infection spreads. Her blood pressure starts to collapse. Her organs
start to fail. And after 20 hours, doctors decided now we can do the procedure without the legal risk. But by then it was too late.
This led to the death of Thurman.
Ten doctors examined this specific case, the goal being let's improve maternal health.
What happened?
Let's understand what happened so we can prevent it from happening again.
And it was determined that this was a preventable death. But there was a delay in doing the procedure
because of Georgia's abortion law passed in this vacuum that opened up in the wake of the repeal
of Roe v. Wade. ProPublica obtained reports that confirmed that at least two women have already
died after they couldn't access legal
abortions and timely medical care in their respective states. We know there are others.
They don't all necessarily want their stories to be public. This is the first time that we have
officially deemed an abortion related death. Thanks to thanks to the the disastrous laws. And it is deemed a preventable
death. That is the part that is a major deal. ProPublica is going to publish more of these,
of course, with the consent of families and those involved. This is on the ballot in November. It's on the ballot implicitly when you vote for Trump or
Harris, and it is on the ballot explicitly in some states, Florida being one of these states,
for example. And it's maybe one of the greatest examples of how the words they ascribe to their positions couldn't be further from the reality. They
claim to be pro-life, and yet they do nothing to protect kids from school shootings.
They aren't doing enough to protect pregnant women. And in fact, they pass laws that endanger
pregnant women. And I could go on. You all know about it. They believe they know better how kids should be
taught rather than professional educators and on and on and on. They are so pro-life. They want you
to believe. But really, they aren't. So, you know, it's almost cliche now to go around saying,
think about X when you step into that voting booth in November, you hear this all the time and it's so overdone and and kind of cliche. So I won't say it that way. But what I would say is project forward
six months, 12 months, 24 months, and imagine the world that will exist if Donald Trump and his
acolytes who have passed these laws get their way and get their victory in
November.
Just think about it and then think about the alternative, which is the vision of bodily
autonomy and respect for medical decisions that don't involve putting politicians in
between doctors and patients that we would have under the Harris administration.
Just think about it and vote whatever you are comfortable with.
Kamala Harris spoke before the National Association of Black Journalists. She answered questions. She didn't use any racial slurs. It was jarring. She didn't tell any stories of someone
becoming black or whatever the case may be. And Kamala Harris accomplished
two important things at this event. Number one, she sat and answered questions which MAGA has
insisted she won't do, even though she's done it a little bit. She should do it more. I agree.
But she did something that they've been saying she doesn't do. And she once again presented an incredible contrast to what we saw when Trump sat down with the NABJ. As a reminder, here's the disastrous,
disastrous moment from Trump's NABJ interview when he said the following about Kamala Harris's race.
It was always of Indian heritage and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn't know she was black
until a number of years ago when she happened to turn black and now she wants to be known as black.
So I don't know, is she Indian or is she black? She has always identified as a black college.
I respect either one, but she obviously doesn't because she was Indian all the way. And then all
of a sudden she made a turn and she went, she became a black person. Just to be clear, sir, do you believe that somebody should look
into that, too, when you ask a continue in a very hostile, nasty town? It's a direct question,
sir. Do you believe that Vice President Kamala Harris is a D.I. hire? I really don't know. I
mean, I really don't know. Could be. Could be. There are some and there are plenty. She became black,
as he likes to say. So that was Trump with the NABJ. For contrast, here's Kamala Harris
explaining why she believes the economy is in better shape now than it was four years ago.
You'll notice she doesn't talk about the crash of 1929. She doesn't use the words Marxist, socialist,
fascist and communist as slurs. She doesn't weigh in on the changing ethnicity or race of other
people. She just kind of soberly explains her view of why she thinks the economy is doing better now
than when when she and Biden took over. Voters are better off now than they were four
years ago. Are they better off now than they were four years ago? So when we came into, well,
first of all, let me just say it is good to be with the National Association of Black Journalists,
and I thank you for the work you do and that your members do every day. It is very important that we
ensure that this organization and your members always have the resources and the platforms to
deliver the voices that must be heard. So I thank you for hosting me today. Four years ago,
when we came in, we came in during the worst unemployment since the Great Depression, we came in during the worst public health epidemic in centuries.
We came in after the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.
And a lot of it due in large part to the mismanagement by the former president as it relates to COVID and obviously January 6th.
And we had then a lot of work to do to clean up a mess. As of today, we have created over 16 million
new jobs, over 800,000 new manufacturing jobs. We have the lowest black unemployment rate in
generations. We have invested in small businesses, and they're to the benefit
of many people, but including black small businesses, some of the highest rate of creation
of new black small businesses in years. We have done the work of capping the cost of prescription
medication for our seniors for issues like insulin. And again, I'm speaking to the black
journalists who care about all people, but in particular, I'll talk about the impact on black
people where we know black folks are 60 times more likely, 60 percent, excuse me, more likely
to be diagnosed with diabetes. And we have now finally capped the cost of insulin for our seniors
of thirty five dollars a month cap. So listen, right wing pundits continue
to say, oh, she can't answer questions. She's inarticulate. She can't express herself clearly.
You know, Trump can't even coherently explain how a tariff works. Now, you don't have to agree
with Kamala Harris that the situation is as she describes it.
I would ask of you find contradictory data, but you don't have to agree with that.
Or you could say, I don't agree with the philosophy that she's espousing here for how the economy
should be approached.
But she's very clearly explaining incoherent terms.
I mean, how low is the bar with Trump that this is this? We say,
I don't know. She's explaining her views very clearly. And of course, she didn't accuse anybody
of changing the race. She didn't use any slurs. She didn't attack the interviewers. The topic of
the story of supposed undocumented Haitian migrants supposedly eating cats and supposedly
eating dogs in Springfield,
Ohio, did come up during this interview.
And Kamala Harris took it seriously and she didn't make it a joke and she didn't take
any low blows.
She said, you've got to understand the meaning of your words when you have such a big platform,
as does Trump and as does J.D.
Vance president.
I want to move to Springfield, Ohio, and what's happening there.
We've seen school closures, parents worried about their kids leaving the home because of racist conspiracy theories that I won't repeat here, but they have been repeated by leaders on the Republican side. President Trump and vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance. From your perspective, is this just a case of irredeemable racism
that can't be mitigated by any rational action,
or is this a situation in which a federal response could help this community heal?
There's a question of resources and...
Well, I'll let you finish, and then I'll speak.
No, go ahead.
It's a crying shame.
I mean, my heart breaks for this community.
You know, there were children, elementary school children,
who it was school photo day.
You remember what that's like?
Going to school on picture day?
Who were dressed up in their best, got all ready, knew what they were going to wear the night before.
And had to be evacuated.
Children.
Children.
Children. Children.
A whole community put in fear.
And I'll say a couple things about it.
One, you know, I learned a long time ago in my career,
having a background as a prosecutor,
when you have these positions, when you have that kind of microphone in front of you,
you really ought to understand at a very deep level how much your words have meaning.
I learned at a very young stage of my career that the meaning of my words could impact whether somebody was free or in prison.
Taking the issue extraordinarily seriously, showing what's at stake and really, you know,
she touched on the economy coherently.
She touches on the Springfield, Ohio, cats and dogs fiasco. Clearly the topic of I guess we would call them anti
abortion deaths. I don't even know what we call them. Deaths due to abortion bans. She
brought that issue up during this interview. Understand what is happening in our country.
Over 20 states have passed what I call Trump abortion bans,
because I understand how we got here.
Yep.
The former president handpicked three members of the United States Supreme Court
with the intention they would undo the protections of Roe v. Wade.
They did as he intended, and in state after state, laws have been passed criminalizing health care providers.
I don't know if anyone here has heard most recently the stories out of Georgia.
Tragic story.
About a young woman who died because it appears the people who should have given her health
care were afraid they'd be criminalized.
Yet again, speaking empathetically about the critical issues facing voters in November. Kamala Harris
addressed Republicans who mock her for how she laughs. Before we conclude, Madam Vice President,
Joyful Warrior has been used to describe. You didn't see that just a minute ago.
OK, back to my joyful. And your your, Republicans, have at times weaponized you laughing in campaign ads, for example.
Why is joy important to you to insert into this election?
And what do you make of Republicans using that as a way to suggest that you're not a serious candidate?
Well, sometimes I think, and I'll say to whoever the young people are who are watching this,
there's sometimes when your adversaries will try and turn your strength into a weakness.
Don't you let them. Don't you let them. I find joy in the American people. I find joy and optimism in what I see to be our future and our ability
to invest in it. I find joy in the ambition of the people. I find joy in the dreams of the people.
I find joy in building community. And finally, Kamala Harris explaining she spoke to Trump after yet another
failed assassination attempt against him. Completely normal reaction she seems to have had.
Did you have you spoken to him? And earlier today, I assume. Yes. How'd that go? You want to give us some intel? Sure. I checked on to
see if he was okay. Yeah. And I told him what I have said publicly. There is no place for
political violence in our country. I am in this election and this race for many reasons, including to fight for our democracy. And in a democracy,
there is no place for political violence. We can and should have healthy debates
and discussion and disagreements, but not resort to violence to to resolve those issues. So is Maga now satisfied that Kamala Harris has done a major television
interview or two and has now sat with the NABJ, which Trump did previously? And they said,
oh, Kamala Harris won't even sit with them. She noted, are they now satisfied?
No, they're not. They're not satisfied because she used a voice that they said was an affected voice.
The other line is, well, she got far easier questions from the journalists than got Donald
Trump.
Well, one of the differences was that she didn't react to the questions by calling people
nasty.
She didn't use racial stories nor start making wild allegations
about people's changing ethnicity such that it required the journalists to say, well, hold on a
second. What on earth are you talking about? So remember, they will never be satisfied.
I don't personally think that your average American, you know, Stacy, the teacher in Arizona,
Josh, the nurse in Wisconsin, Peter, the auto parts worker in Detroit. I don't think they're
really paying attention day to day to whether these candidates speak to the NABJ because
they're busy working and living their lives and they're going to vote for whoever they believe presents the most realistic and positive vision economically
in particular, but also in other ways for the country in November.
But to the extent that people are paying attention to what Trump says to the NABJ and what Kamala
Harris says to the NABJ, it's hard to watch this and say, oh, she sounds incompetent.
Very difficult, particularly when viewed in contrast to Donald Trump's appearance
before that very same group. Let me know your thoughts. Info at David Pakman dot com.

Save democracy 24 for a respectable discount off of the cost of a membership. J.D. Vance claims that there are
massive dumps of immigrants coming in from Haitia. Now, if you're wondering what the hell is Haitia,
I'm wondering the exact same thing. Take a listen to what J.D. Oh, you can't write this stuff. Take a listen to J.D. speaking in Michigan.
Over the last few years, 20000 migrants primarily from Haitia have been dropped into Springfield,
Ohio.
They're coming from Haitia, Haitia, Haitia, Haitia.
If President Biden mistakenly called Haiti, Haitia once, it would have been the subject of hundreds,
hundreds of right wing media stories and dozens of stories in The New York Times, etc.
But J.D. Vance goes, I don't know, they're dumping in from Haitia. Silence, silence.
Now, J.D. Vance did not only make up words during this event.
He also said things that don't make any sense, including lashing out at reporters.
Take a listen to what's what's even more disgraceful.
What's even more disgraceful than the policy is the effort to silence the residents of Springfield.
I've seen this from the American media.
A lot of people who pretend to be fair journalists, you know what they've been saying?
For the last few days, Springfield has been experiencing an unbelievable number, something like 35, 40 bomb threats in Springfield in just the last few days. And you know what the governor of Ohio
came out yesterday and said? Every single one of those bomb threats was a hoax, and all of those
bomb threats came from foreign countries. So the American media for three days has been lying and
saying that Donald Trump and I are inciting bomb threats when in reality the American media has been laundering foreign disinformation.
It is disgusting.
You know.
First, how do you unpack this stuff?
First of all, the governor of Ohio did not say that every single bomb threat was coming
from foreign countries, but did say that some appeared to be coming
from foreign countries.
Of course, they might appear to come from foreign countries because of the technology
that's being used.
And in fact, that's not actually the case.
But why does it you know, it's not mutually exclusive that Trump and Vance could be responsible
for the bomb threats and that they come from
foreign countries.
They're not mutually exclusive things.
Also, are bomb threats no big deal unless there is a real bomb?
Like the fact that school is disrupted on picture day on all these different things
is the fact that the kids are terrified.
Does it not matter because there wasn't really a bomb in
the school? It's really, really strange. Now, speaking of strange moments, at one point,
J.D. Vance sort of challenged a would be assassin to come in and try to take him out
because he's there in Michigan with 500 patriots. You know, by the way, with with
close to 500 patriots
in the state of Michigan in this building right now and outside, I'd like to see an assassin
try to come in this room. They come the wrong place. If you try to walk into this place right
now. Oh, OK. And why are you even bringing that up? Really, really odd. And then finally, J.D. Vance makes the very odd claim that if Kamala Harris becomes president,
we're going down the path to slavery.
He says this as he continues to insist that we need to tone down the divisive rhetoric
in this country.
That is not a path to prosperity.
That is a path to prosperity. That is a path to
slavery. And it's what Kamala Harris has been doing for three and a half years.
Man, he is really just not good at this. You almost start to feel bad for him, except then
you remember the untold damage that he and Donald Trump would do if they were to be president and
vice president of this country for four years.
And you also have to understand from an actuarial standpoint, based on how long people tend
to live, that there is a really good chance that if you vote Trump, you are voting for
an eventual president, J.D. Vance.
And that should terrify anybody who has a brain and a brain, as Donald
Trump likes to say. J.D. Vance is terrible at this and he's not getting any better. You know,
I'm going to do something special for you today. I am not going to play any clips of Donald Trump
speaking at yesterday's rally in Flint, Michigan. I'm not going to do it. You know why? Because he gave the same damn speech
he's been giving day after day after day. And I have something actually much scarier to show you.
If if you think Trump's speeches with his dictatorial wet dreams and ambitions are scary,
then I have something far scarier for you today. I'm going to play for you clips of interviews that were done
with attendees at Donald Trump's rally yesterday. I don't know why. I think it's because Trump was
running particularly late. We have far more material from right wing broadcaster, right
side broadcasting network. And we have everything from very serious cognitive failure, mental
illness and just people completely
emotionally unstable, sobbing for no reason.
Nothing wrong with crying.
Crying in these environments, I think you will see is a very acute sign of emotional
dysregulation.
Here is a gentleman and I'm using that term very loosely.
Here is a gentleman at Donald Trump's rally asked why he's there.
The answer leaves a lot to be desired.
How about you, sir?
I'm here to, you know, state my freedom.
That's really important that we sit here and fight for our freedom because it's like slowly
being taken away.
Is that right?
Right. It's like totally slowly being taken away. I'm here to. State.
My freedom. Well, I hope that went really well for you, sir. Here's another guy who
started sobbing. Now, I've been listening to these Magadonians for years. I can't make heads
or tails out of what this guy's talking. I mean, I get all choked up. I mean, we got
to save our country. Put all this narrative bullshit aside. We work on facts. There used
to be a show called Dragnet. And they would say, ma'am, ma'am, just the facts, please.
And I brought facts to you.
I want you to publish them.
Everybody, we can't have that one pair pays all.
We finally found the guy.
Who goes up to Trump with tears in his eyes and says, Sir, we need you. We need you.
We finally found the guy. This is the guy. What on earth is happening to this country?
What or country? As that gentleman said, here is a woman. At a Trump town hall rally event who says the litter boxes in schools are really scaring
the children.
Can't even protect them at school.
Everybody's against you.
I you know, these kids are terrified.
They have more put into litter boxes in the bathrooms and everything else instead of like
teaching our kids.
Right.
We have no future without our children
and we need to protect them. We should be praising God that metabolizing food
and breathing are involuntary actions or these people would be dead if it depended on. Doing it on purpose. The litter box story is totally fake,
completely fake, made up story. What can you say? Here's a gentleman at the Trump event
who says his business used to do so well. It was down under Barack Obama. It was back to being great under Donald Trump.
But it'll be out of business if President Kamala Harris becomes a reality business.
It had been ran for 60, 70 some years, and it was rough through the Obama presidency.
But I cut my prices and I did a lot of extra work to be able to bring in the money.
And then when Trump got into office, my $100 jobs turned into $200 jobs.
My invoices, the cost of overhead went from $200 to $600.
And it got to the point where it just wasn't feasible. And I miss being
a self-employed small business. Oh, I guess he ran. He went out of business because of
Biden or Harris owner, because I loved when my kids had a sport events. I could make time
to go watch the sport events and making sure they wasn't getting beat by a man wearing a wig.
Um, pretty serious. I mean, I think this is what we would classify as moderate to severe
mental illness. Same guy says he hopes Ivanka is the next president.
And if Eric or Don Baron, you want to run a vodka, be the first woman president, baby.
We are with you. We are with you.
We are with you because I'm sure your daddy's instilled.
He's been saying the same things in the 80s on Oprah shows when they revered the man when
he was on Robin Leach is the rich and famous.
He's been true to what he said back then.
Who in my audience wants to vote to cancel out this guy's vote in Michigan?
I hope there's a number of you with your hands up.
A young lady at the Trump event went religious with a very ominous analysis of what's happening.
I think there's an evil force taking over our country, our world.
It's written in the Bible that in the last days this is supposed to happen.
So we have to armor ourselves with with the armor of Christ, I want to say.
And I love the interviewer nodding like this makes sense.
Prepared.
We can't do this without Jesus.
And this is to be expected.
There is certainly an evil force, evil force.
Right.
Ephesians six.
We got to put on the full armor of God.
That's yep.
Psych hold now.
Psych hold now should be the rallying cry for for this for this rally.
And then the cherry on top, the right wing broadcaster, the young lady who is doing the
interviews. up. The right wing broadcaster, the young lady who is doing the interviews, she sells
ivermectin kits to protect you against government planned epidemics. And one of the funny thing
there's two funny things. Number one, there's always a grift somewhere. There's always a
grift somewhere. But what I particularly love is that the ad reads by these broadcasters
are always so inarticulate. It sounds like they are in a life and death battle against their own tongues to get the
ad reads.
And in light of the RFK endorsement, who he's huge on health and wellness, I have a quick
sponsorship from our favorite wellness company.
Right.
America, listen up. The world is getting more
unpredictable by the day. We've got assassination attempts, rumors of civil assassination or
an unstable stock market. And now the looming threat of the bird flu is on everyone's mind.
Did you know that there's a bird flu summit coming in October next month? It's eerily
reminiscent of event 201 that foreshadowed
the covid pandemic. There you go. Pandemic, always a good word to sell ivermectin. If you're losing,
if you're looking to sell ivermectin. You're probably right to include the word pandemic
in the ad read, so I don't fault them for that. This is what we're up against. Normally,
I show you Trump and say that's what we're up against. Right. But if there weren't these people
who say, I love it, I'm going to vote for it, then Trump's just old man yelling at cloud.
The fact that the voters exist is a real reminder of what we are up against. So vote dot org. Make sure you're registered.
Make sure you know where to go. And please, my Michigan listeners, cancel out the votes of these
people. I'm begging you. If you've been thinking about getting a new mattress, Helix Sleep is where
I would start. I've been sleeping on Helix mattresses for years now. I recommend
Helix to everyone, which is why I wanted them as a sponsor. If you don't want to take my word for
it, Helix has been awarded number one mattress by both GQ and Wired magazine. And one of the

The info is in the podcast notes. Not all men's underwear is the same with traditional underwear. The sticking and the
rubbing are something many of us know all too well. But our sponsor, Sheath Underwear, puts it
to an end once and for all. Sheath Underwear is ultra light and breathable. You can barely tell
it's there. But importantly, sheath is uniquely designed with two pouches in the front that
separate everything out, giving you an extra
confidence boost throughout the day. Air can flow in between, keeping things dry and comfortable

of comfort and morale that you've been missing out on.
They come in a bunch of different designs.
They have something for everybody.

Last week, I highlighted for you the unsettling and disturbing and outrageous reality that Donald Trump, despite
running a chaotic campaign and making nearly every conceivable mistake from a strategic standpoint,
could still win the presidency. And in fact, based on yesterday's analysis,
Trump is doing better electorally in the twenty twenty four polling than he actually did in the 2020 election. The point was that
regardless of his poor choice of running made in J.D. Vance, his disastrous debate performance,
a string of other faux pas and missteps, Trump has essentially a 50 50 shot at reclaiming the Oval Office. Today, we're going to flip the script to explore the opposite scenario.
Despite Kamala Harris is running an exceptionally strong campaign over the last couple of months,
launching the campaign well, handling interviews well, handling the debate well. Without a doubt, she's dramatically improved
the chances of the Democratic Party for getting a win compared to when Joe Biden was at the top
of the ticket. She could still lose even though she's doing just about everything right. Kamala
Harris first guaranteed herself as the surefire nominee once Biden dropped out. This was already a brilliant
political move. She didn't leave it up to chance. She coalesced the right endorsements. She reached
out to the Democratic delegates and secured them. And that was that that was already something to be
noted. Kamala Harris had to reassure Democrats, you're wise to put your trust in me.
She had to quickly propel what was an admittedly low approval rating in order to match up better
than Joe Biden did in the polls against Donald Trump. And she very quickly did that. She made
it clear she's the right choice to swap Biden with. And that all was a success right out of the
gate. Kamala Harris then capitalized
on that excitement by immediately hosting large rallies where she demonstrated her public
speaking ability has improved. But she was also able to hit Trump not only with good
lines at the rallies like say it to my face when it looked like maybe Trump was going
to be skipping out on debates against her. But she also
filled arenas that within days Trump failed to fill another major win. And folks on the right
criticized the Harris campaign's decision not to do media interviews right away. But it ended up
being a reserved approach that proved successful. Kamala Harris continued to grow her lead without those interviews.
She avoided bad interview moments that would come back to bite her while Trump did disastrous
interview after disastrous interview.
And then she was put to the test of finding a suitable running mate.
By all accounts, Kamala Harris got that one right as well with Tim Walz. He's just a normal folksy
Midwestern appeal guy, and he's adeptly branded Trump, Vance and Maga as just plain weird,
which has also worked really well. Then we had the Democratic National Convention, which was
as successful as you might hope for. Kamala Harris was praised for
her speech. Fundraising poured in. She raised five hundred and forty million dollars since the start
of the campaign, which is sizable so much so that she has money to give to candidates down ballot
to help Democrats in the House and Senate. And then, of course, there's last week's debate where Kamala
Harris, by every serious account, was the victor, unless you ask the Trump cultists. But they're not
reachable anyway. So who cares? She was confident. She seemed knowledgeable and in command. She
looked like the only adult on stage. And it was sort of the right balance of here's
what I would do. Here's what I believe. And also, can you believe the stuff that Donald Trump is
saying? She even goaded Trump into getting angry and going off into these wild tirades. And
ultimately, the result was yet another bump in the polls, a wounded Trump, a triggered MAGA and a Republican Party left
searching for evidence of Haitian immigrants eating cats and dogs in Springfield, Ohio,
which is not where you want to be with 50 days left until the presidential election.
All of that gets us to today.
When we look at the national race, as we've been doing, Kamala Harris has been consistently
out polling Trump.
ABC, Ipsos, Yahoo News, Data for Progress, TIP polls have all come out after the debate.
They show Kamala Harris with a four point lead nationally.
Reuters, Ipsos has her up five.
Morning Consult actually had a plus six. So by all
accounts, Kamala Harris is doing everything right in this campaign. Democrats chances of winning the
election are way better than they were leading up to and in the immediate aftermath for Joe Biden of
that June debate. And yet and I know you know where I'm going with this. She could easily
lose and we could get four more years of Donald Trump. I've shown you the paths to the White
House many times for these two candidates. If Donald Trump is able to take back Arizona
and Georgia, which are two traditionally Republican states, while defending North Carolina from
being flipped.
He only needs one of the three Rust Belt states, Wisconsin, Michigan or Pennsylvania, to get
the 270 electoral votes that he needs.
Now, it is true that Kamala Harris has opened up more paths to victory when she became the
nominee than Joe Biden had.
In fact, Joe Biden lacked some of the paths to victory that Kamala Harris is now
looking at. Despite winning Georgia, Arizona and Nevada in 2020, the polls did not show Joe Biden
being competitive there in 2024. Winning North Carolina was not even a conversation for Joe
Biden. Now all four of those states are essentially toss ups. So Kamala's multiple
paths to victory are unquestionably better than Joe Biden's one and realistically only path to
victory for Biden. Winning was going to require holding the blue wall in Wisconsin, Michigan and
Pennsylvania in order to get the 270 electoral votes that he needs now,
though that was essentially his only path and it would barely get him over the threshold.
It's still a viable path.
Polling in those states was even sort of up until Biden's poor debate performance.
And then it all started looking pretty unlikely. So one might expect that Kamala Harris creating these new paths to victory means she's got
the Rust Belt states in the bag, or at least she's a heavy favorite.
There are five, six, seven point lead, because if it was close with Biden, Harris's national
polling has improved.
It must have improved in the Rust Belt, right?
Wrong. Instead, the real clear politics average has all of those states essentially tied Kamala
up by one point two in Wisconsin, zero point seven in Michigan, down a little bit in Pennsylvania.
With those numbers, it's easy to see how Trump could pick up one of those states and secure
the White House. There are some forecast
models that have Kamala Harris as the favorite. The 538 model, the Vegas odds point to Kamala
Harris. On the other hand, election forecaster Nate Silver made news last week when he said his
current forecast gives Trump a 64 percent chance of winning the Electoral College, while Kamala Harris has just a 35
percent chance.
Now, it is no there's no doubt that silver has been criticized for his model.
It gives Trump the most positive outlook of any.
But it's still a valuable analysis in that it's a sobering analysis.
Trump outperformed the polls in 2016 and in 2020. Hillary Clinton was considered
at one point a shoe in in 2016, and Biden was expected to win comfortably. Whatever the final
margin looked like nationally, both elections came down to around 100000 votes in just a few states. And that could happen again.
Now we also have to talk about the other sort of elephant in the room, which is right now
I've been talking about the will of the people.
What will the will of the people dictate about the results in Michigan, for example, or Arizona
or wherever?
But we have to talk about Republican efforts to suppress the vote and potentially get us
an outcome that doesn't even align with that of the will of the people.
North Carolina will now have voter I.D. and more votes are expected to be tossed because
of new absentee ballot return deadlines.
New laws in the state will also give partisan poll observers more authority to challenge ballots or say this early voting location or ballot or vote by mail is no good.
In Georgia, conservative election officials, obviously influenced by pro-Trump members of the state election board, have introduced new rules that give them very broad discretion to just say we're not going to certify the election results.
These are so-called reasonable inquiry rules, and that could allow them to just delay the
results on their say.
So we go further.
Trump and his operatives around the country tried to steal an election in 2020.
They failed, but they learned certain lessons that they could very much use to their advantage
in 2024 if they once again attempt to steal it.
They know what worked.
They know what didn't work.
They know what could have worked if they had done it slightly differently.
And they will use those lessons to their advantage if they need to try it again in November.
Ultimately, if this election comes down to the courts, as it did in 2000 with the Supreme
Court's decision to stop the recount in Florida, Trump could be in a position to win because
remember that we have a six three conservative Supreme Court majority and the deference they've
already shown to Trump and what he wants over the years is absolutely terrifying.
So the end message or where we kind of land is the same as always.
We can't control everything. Polls are just polls. We are just weeks out before this election.
Let's not mistake the good vibes of the Kamala Harris campaign with a positive vision for the
future and her recent absolute trouncing of
Donald Trump in that debate as an indication that she is destined to win. We know how that's gone
for us in the past. So now is the time to make sure you're registered. Go to vote.org to find
out and confirm that you're registered. Find your polling place. Make sure you have a plan to vote on November 5th or by mail in advance or during early voting hours.
Let's make sure that Donald Trump doesn't yet again win the keys to power because it's not
hyperbolic to say he does not respect the Democratic foundations of this country.
He respects them if they help him and if they don't out the window flush 10 to 15 times.
He said it about what he said it about a number of different things.
He said it with regard to the Constitution, that if he determines it's necessary, you
could suspend some or all of the Constitution.
He said it with regard to early voting or absentee voting vote by mail.
If it's convenient for him, that's great.
And otherwise it's bad and he won't hesitate to do away with it. The best path to victory. I spoke
about it with attorney Mark Elias, spoke about it with Brian Tyler Cohen, and we've talked about it
so many times. The best insurance in November. Is a victory so overwhelming that none of their foul play and subterfuge will make a
difference because it just won't be close enough for them to try to steal it.

We don't yet know, especially as I just outlined for you, what the trajectory of the November
election is going to be. We don't know if it will be an electoral landslide. We don't know if it'll
be a popular vote landslide. We don't know if Donald Trump will try to have the election results
overturned
through a variety of different maneuverings that maybe he has improved upon after knowing what
worked and what didn't work in 2020. But Trump is now threatening his most outrageous and dangerous
lawsuit ever. Donald Trump is now threatening to bring a lawsuit against the post office on the basis that
he is preemptively claiming that hundreds of thousands of ballots will be lost.
So I it's so critical.
Let me back up.
There are those who recognized in summer of 2020 that Trump was laying the groundwork
to challenge the election results
who are not recognizing it right now. There are those who write to me and they say, David,
Trump tried it in 2020, didn't work. It's it's just not going to be the approach this time around.
Trump is laying the groundwork for claiming that he won even if he loses. Some would say when he loses, but I would say if he loses, seems much
safer. He spoke to Wayne Allen Root, his friend, who has been a guest on this program a number of
times, although he looked a lot different when he was on this show. And Trump is setting up maybe
his most dangerous lawsuit yet. Take a listen. So you talk all the time about the rigged election,
but and a lot of people go, oh, it wasn't rigged. It wasn't rigged. He's crazy. Meanwhile,
you had a rigged debate. We had a rigged debate. We have a rigged election. We have bad borders.
We have very bad elections. We have a bad voting system. We have mail in ballots. And, you know,
it's very interesting. I read the other day the post office is saying how bad it is. The post
office is critiquing themselves, saying we're really in bad shape. We can't deliver the mail.
And they're not even talking about mail-in ballots, right? We're going to dump millions
and millions of ballots. And I'm saying to myself, how can they be taking the vote and they can't?
They are saying they're in very bad shape, that they cannot deliver the mail well.
And we're relying on them.
And I said, you know, we ought to go to court and we ought to bring a lawsuit because they're going to lose hundreds of thousands of ballots, maybe purposely or maybe just through incompetence.
But we have a lot of our votes come in, many, many big percentage, whatever it may be.
But a tremendous percentage, much more than half, come in with
the mail-in voting. And we have the post office say they can't do the job. So wouldn't you have
to make a change? Well, I mean, it's interesting because just, I think it was yesterday, the U.S.
Postal Service Union endorsed Kamala Harris. So how do you trust an election? How did you trust
a debate where the moderator is the sorority sister of Kamala? And now you've got mail in ballots being trusted into the hands of people that just endorsed Kamala Harris,
that union. How do you how many times can you mispronounce it? Kamala know there's going to
be a clean election. Well, they've always been a very Democrat union. So listen, this just isn't
true. I mean, anybody who sends stuff through the mail knows the Postal Service really doesn't
lose mail.
I know that there was that wacky story where Tucker Carlson said he had the smoking gun
evidence from Rudy Giuliani's laptop that he got from the blind computer technician
and it was lost in the mail.
But it turns out that he used one of the private services. I don't remember if it was FedEx or DHL or UPI. I don't remember which it was lost in the mail. But it turns out that he used one of the private services.
I don't remember if it was FedEx or DHL or UPI. I don't remember which it was. It had nothing to do
with the U.S. Postal Service. Anyone who uses the mail knows losing mail is really rare. I was
speaking to a friend who works with postal investigators who says these systems are so good now, mail is scanned. We know
where it's moving through. Losing a piece of mail is really rare and even more so. The Postal
Service has special handling for ballots. They prioritize campaign mail that wasn't delivered
or misplaced or returned or there's a mistaken address or whatever the case may be. The Postal Service, despite Republican attempts to make it terrible
and over time, sometimes they've succeeded in slowing down the mail despite their very own
attempts. It is very rare to lose mail in the United States during this same whacked interview.
Trump praised former Senator Snoop Jackson.
It happens to be Scoop Jackson said that he had the Carter Commission, right, where they
had some pretty good people.
I think Snoop Jackson and some other president Snoop Jackson.
OK, it was Scoop Jackson.
So just another little detail laying the groundwork to challenge the results.
Very dangerous.
You know how I've said to you before, if you don't like Maga's position on an issue on
Tuesday, just check their position on that issue on Wednesday and then maybe you'll find
a different position that you like.
You know how lately MAGA and Donald Trump
have been playing up that they support and defend IVF in vitro fertilization and similar fertility
techniques and procedures that are available. Well, the latest is that Trump put out a video
praising the Southern Baptist Convention Convention, which recently came out against IVF.
Yeah. Listen to what Trump had to say. Hello to everyone at the Danbury Institute and to
all of the wonderful pastors and faith leaders, very respected people gathered for the Southern
Baptist Convention annual meeting. That's a big deal. I want to thank each and every one of you for your tremendous devotion to God and to country and your tremendous support of me. And I hope
I've earned it because we've done things that nobody thought were possible to have gotten done.
These are difficult times for our nation and your work is so important. We can't afford to have
anyone sit on the sidelines. Now is the time for us to all pull together and to stand up for our values and for our freedoms.
And you just can't vote Democrat.
They're against religion.
They're against your religion in particular.
You cannot vote for Democrats and you have to get out and vote.
We have to defend religious liberty, free speech, innocent life, and the heritage and tradition that built America
into the greatest nation in the history of the world. But now we are, as you know, a declining
nation. And I might add, we are a seriously declining nation, seriously, seriously, and so
sad. I know that each of you is protecting those values every day, and I hope we'll be defending
them side by side for your next
four years. These are going to be your years because you're going to make a comeback like
just about no other group. I know what's happening. I know where you're coming from and where you're
going. And I'll be with you side by side. You are going to make a comeback. These will be your
years and I will be with you side by side. The Southern Baptist Convention.
Oh, are they for or against abortion?
You know, I don't even need to tell you.
Forget about that.
They're against IVF.
Now, if you don't like Trump's praise of an anti IVF group, just go to last week's debate.
We'll remember Donald Trump claimed to be a leader on this issue.
I have to respond.
Another lie.
It's another lie.
I have been a leader on IVF, which which is fertilization.
The IVF.
I have been a leader.
The idea of Trump doing any fertilization is absolutely disgusting.
But the political implications are even worse, of course, because Trump said, oh, no, no, no,
you can trust me on that. But then he endorses a group and says you're going to have a great
comeback, a group that is against IVF. This is the perfect example of taking every side
of every issue. It's like choose your own adventure. Didn't like Trump's last position.
Give him five minutes. He'll come up with a new position and then you just pick the one that
you like.
If you don't necessarily acknowledge the seriousness of this as an issue here, Republicans voting
to block the right to IVF act on this vote.
The A's are 51.
The knees are 44, three fifths of the senator senators duly chosen in sworn not having voted
in the affirmative.
The motion upon reconsideration is not agreed to, not agreed to the right to IVF Act blocked
by Republicans in the United States Senate at the top of the show. And I want to go back to
what we started with today. We've now learned that when you start playing politics with medicine,
people die. And we learned about this young woman who received delayed treatment, significantly delayed treatment because of
the fear among doctors in Georgia that they could spend spend a decade in prison thanks
to Georgia's anti-abortion laws.
And now she's dead.
And ProPublica is going to go public with more of these stories.
So when they start playing these games, I'm the
best on fertilization or I actually support anti IVF groups. Everybody wanted Roe v. Wade repealed.
I did it. Trump has gleefully said many times they see it as politics. How can I win? How can I get
power? How can I stay out of prison if you're Trump? But it has extraordinarily real
and tragic consequences. Something to think about, something to think about as you start
filling out your absentee ballots or when you go and vote in November. We will do the absolute best
