Starting point is 00:00:00 Speaker 1 Speaker 3 Speaker 1 Speaker 3 Welcome, everybody. I will tell you about my trip to the White House on the bonus show today. So much going on, including continued problems for Republican candidates. Donald Trump endorsed candidate for North Carolina Governor Mark Robinson has been caught referring to himself as a black Nazi, admitting to peeping in locker room showers and saying maybe slavery should come back and he'd buy a few slaves. This is yet another major problem for Mac, MAGA Trump ism.
Starting point is 00:00:45 I'm a black Nazi. North Carolina Republican nominee for governor made dozens of disturbing comments on porn forum. Not that I care what this guy's into, but he also seems to have a fetish for transgender pornography, which, of course, have added Haas, but a direct conflict with the supposed immorality of trans that both Robinson and Trump have espoused. You can't write it any more outrageously than real life. Screenshots are widespread on CNN of him talking about he used the handle, I guess, mini soldier, mini soldier. And they're all over the place. He was
Starting point is 00:01:38 on nude Africa talking about finding a spot where he could peep into locker room showers. There are endless conflicts between his stated views online under these handles versus as a public person. For example, publicly, he said that people should only use bathrooms that correspond with the gender assigned at birth. He said trans women should be arrested for using women's restrooms. There are a number of these different claims. And yet privately writes the report, he graphically described his own sexual arousal as an adult from the memory of secretly peeping on women in public gym showers as a 14 year old. He said he found a spot. He had a memory. He has a memory he still fantasizes about. Quote, I came to a spot that was a dead end but had two big vent covers over it. It just so happened it
Starting point is 00:02:39 overlooked the showers. I sat there for about an hour and watched as several girls came in and showered a biological male in the girls restroom. Doesn't sound so good. There are a bunch of graph graphic sexual depictions that CNN has opted not to publish. But he talked about going back multiple times, et cetera. He also discussed an affinity for transgender pornography. I like watching Trani on girl porn. He says he's a perv and he now is claiming, oh, it's just it's not me. It really wasn't me. This is a whole thing that they've somehow faced. Media is at it again. My opponent is at it again. You all have seen the half truths and outright lies of Josh Stein on these ads over and over again. And now a story, a story leaked by him to CNN is appearing now. Let me reassure you,
Starting point is 00:03:34 the things that you will see in that story, those are not the words of Mark Robinson. Speaker 1 Yes. However, speaking on the condition of anonymity, a campaign staffer said that is indeed his email address and his username. You know my words, you know my character, and you know that I have been completely transparent in this race and before. Folks, this race right now, our opponents are desperate to shift the focus here from the substantive issues and focus on what you are concerned with to salacious tabloid trash. We cannot allow that to happen. And folks, we've seen this type of stuff in the past as well. Clarence Thomas famously once said he was the victim of a high tech legend. Now, now he's Clarence Thomas. Well, it looks like Mark Robinson is to my man who refuses to stand on stage and debate about the real issues that face you.
Starting point is 00:04:26 Now, of course, this is becoming a problem for Donald Trump. And there are already reports of people around Trump quietly saying he needs to step down and end his candidacy because it's going to hurt Donald Trump in North Carolina. Now here is Trump, as he often likes to do, calling him hot, saying he's hot. Thanks as well, too. I think one of the hottest politicians in the United States of America and has become a friend of mine. Yeah. Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson. Thank you, Mark. Mark Robinson, of course, super, super hot. And he happens to be Mark Robinson, very anti trans, despite enjoying reportedly trans pornography.
Starting point is 00:05:18 I don't care how hard you try the transgender movement in this country, if there's a movement in this country that is demonic and that is full of the spirit of anti-Christ, it is the transgender movement. It is that that is the worst movement. It's just the anti-Christ movement, which I guess Robinson himself must now in some way be a part of or an enabler of. And then here is Donald Trump saying that Mark Robinson is better than Martin Luther King. And he's been, his wife is much, much more lovely than he is. I can tell you that. And she's my friend. Thank you, darling, for being here. But, you know, I heard him coming in on the plane. I was listening and I said to the people on the plane, watch this. This is Martin Luther King on steroids. OK, now I told that I told that I told that to Mark.
Starting point is 00:06:29 I said, I think you're better than Martin Luther King. I think you are Martin Luther King times two. Oh, and he looked at me and I wasn't sure. Was he angry because that's a terrible thing to say or was he complimented? I have never figured it out. Yeah. Now, very much, very much untrue what Trump is saying there. Robinson is, as far as his public facing life, a disgusting anti LGBTQ bigot. And he also, like many of these MAGA right wingers, seems to be a complete and total hypocrite. So with North Carolina so in focus and with remember, we've looked at the scenarios. If Trump loses North Carolina, not only is this election almost certainly over for him, it might be over by 8 p.m. on November 5th if Pennsylvania and Georgia don't go Trump's way like it could be an East Coast decides this thing if North Carolina doesn't go for Donald Trump. So we're going to be watching North Carolina closely. Trump advisers in a panic,
Starting point is 00:07:38 reportedly privately saying Robinson's just got to get out. You're going to torpedo Trump. You could cost Trump the presidency. So things going very, very poorly for Donald Trump. Let me catch you up on an interesting occurrence over on the Kamala Harris campaign side. There were many people surprised that Oprah Winfrey showed up at the DNC and said, I am voting for Kamala Harris and you should, too. And although there is, of course, risk to public people to making such declarations, Oprah is at a point where it really doesn't matter. She's extraordinarily wealthy and could have retired decades ago. And what does she care? She's going to say what she believes. Well, Oprah went even further and held an event yesterday, a live stream, including an interview component. Gretchen Whitmer was there. Actors sent in their messages of support for Kamala Harris, and they also took
Starting point is 00:08:38 questions from the audience. I think this was overall an excellent event, but I don't sugarcoat things for you. When the campaign's going well, I tell you when the campaign's not going so well, I tell you there were some really great moments at this Oprah event. And there were also some moments where I think it was really the worst of Kamala Harris in the sense of what the sorts of situations she really struggles in. So we're going to get to it. But here is Oprah introducing Kamala Harris, really kind of doing what Oprah does best. And in no other country on this earth could her story unfold the way it has from a child of immigrants to big sister to McDonald's worker. There is hope for y'all. District attorney, a wife and mamala to senator to vice president. Please welcome Kamala Harris. All right. So the crowd liking the introduction. Now let's get to
Starting point is 00:09:40 some of the substance. One of the things Kamala Harris does really well, really well, is she pulls people into her circle with little I don't even want to call them inside jokes because everyone recognizes what it is, but sort of communicating subtly. You might recall the moment in the debate last week or was it the week before? No, it was. Yeah, it was last week in the debate last week where Donald Trump was asked, so do you have your health care plan after all these years? And Trump said, well, I have concepts of a plan. And it was absolutely humiliating for Trump when the topic of Kamala Harris is a sort
Starting point is 00:10:20 of proposal to help new small businesses came up. Kamala Harris refers to the concept of a business, the concept of a business. And the crowd immediately knows what she's referencing. And it just works really well. And so part of my plan is to give startup small businesses a fifty thousand dollar tax deduction to start up their small business. Right now, it's $5,000. Nobody can start a small business with $5,000. So that's part of my plan.
Starting point is 00:10:51 That's a teeny tiny business. That's a tiny concept of a business. All right. So that's that's really good. That's Kamala Harris both reminding us how incompetent her opponent is connecting with the audience, folding people in, saying, hey, we all remember that ridiculous thing that Trump did. That was really good. It wasn't all awesome. And I'm not here to sugarcoat. Here is a moment where Kamala Harris sort of gets lost in her own kind of word salad. Oprah seemed to be getting uncomfortable. And sometimes Kamala Harris does these things where
Starting point is 00:11:33 she kind of can't get to the point and it's not so good. Here is an example of that. We love our country. I love our country. I know we all do. That's why everybody's here right now. We love our country. We take pride in the privilege of being American. And this is a moment where we can and must come together as Americans, understanding we have so much more in common than what separates us. Let's come together with the character that we are so proud of about who we are, which is we are an optimistic people. We are an optimistic people. Americans by character are people who have dreams and ambitions and aspirations. We believe in what is possible.
Starting point is 00:12:32 We believe in what can be. And we believe in fighting for that. That's how we came into being, because the people before us understood that one of the greatest expressions for the love of our country, one of the greatest expressions of patriotism is to fight for the ideals of who we are. So listen, I know that there are people who will say, David, you're being too hard on her. That was fine.
Starting point is 00:13:02 That without there was no problem. She obviously has a positive vision of America. She's trying to communicate it. I support Kamala Harris over Donald Trump. I'm going to vote for her. But we do analysis on this show. And my analysis is that that was meandering. And it's just an example of the type of moment where Kamala Harris needs improvement. Nobody bats a thousand. It's OK. You know, Trump wants to deport millions of immigrants after putting them in militarized camps. Kamala Harris doesn't on policy. She's better, obviously. But that wasn't so good. It's kind of meandering. And you can kind of tell that even Kamala Harris at moments isn't really sure where she's going with it. One more example
Starting point is 00:13:41 of this. She was asked a question. She kind of took three minutes to answer it, but really did not answer directly. It's not that I mind this. I'm fine here hearing her speak extemporaneously. It's I just don't know that this is like best connecting with voters. And it's OK. You improve. You learn. But but I'm telling you, this wasn't so good when you become president. What would be your specific steps? Yeah, of course. What would be specific steps to strengthening the border? So it's a wonderful and important question. You know my background as a prosecutor, and I was also the elected attorney general for two terms of a border state. So this is not a theoretical issue for me. This is something I've
Starting point is 00:14:27 actually worked on. I have prosecuted transnational criminal organizations for the trafficking of guns, drugs, and human beings. I take very seriously the importance of having a secure border and ensuring the safety of the American people. Sadly, where we are now can be traced most recently back to the fact that when the United States Congress, members of the Congress, including some of the most conservative Republicans, came up with a border security bill. And here's what that border security bill would have done. It would have put fifteen hundred more border agents at the border. Let me tell you, those border agents are working around the clock. It would have just been. So I think this goes on for another two minutes. I'm not going to play it all.
Starting point is 00:15:19 I think the problem here is that she branches and branches and branches. And one of the things that President Obama did so well in this exact situation and there's a classic moment where sort of like a pro gun conservative tries to confront him. President Obama knew how to say, let me let me say three things about this. And he would pivot and he would find a point of agreement and he and he would keep it all with forward momentum. And what I think this lacks is forward momentum because she starts to say, well, I have credentials to deal with this. And the Republicans had a bill. And here's one of the things in the bill about Border Patrol.
Starting point is 00:16:04 And by the way, Border Patrol works really hard and your branch branch branch branch. It feels like you've lost the point of the question. So listen, she's going to get better. We're I'm analyzing. Don't get mad at me. I'm just telling you where there can be areas of improvement and she will improve and she's the better candidate. But there were moments during this format yesterday where her weaknesses certainly were visible. Now, also really interesting, Governor Gretchen Whitmer,
Starting point is 00:16:29 the event was in Michigan. Governor Gretchen Whitmer was there and she delivered the really important message that there were really close precincts in 2016 in Michigan and just sort of a reminder of the importance of voting. Oh, no. And the clip is glitching. We have a glitched clip. Let me fix this for us. I know we will. We're so happy to be in your state. Thank you. I'm glad you're here. Yes. And we want everybody who can vote, obviously, to vote. But it's very important for women. So what do you want to say to women? Well, this is going to be a big, close race. Michigan is always tight.
Starting point is 00:17:11 We know we're feeling good, but we've got to translate that feeling into action. We deserve a leader who is strong and kind. It's not mutually exclusive. And that's why I think this moment is so important for all of us today, but for our kids and future generations, too. There's so much at stake here from our individual reproductive freedom to the ability to get ahead and make a good living and take care of your family. That's all on the line this election.
Starting point is 00:17:36 Yes, strong and kind. Yes. Isn't that a notion? And what can Michigan do to help get Kamala Harris to the White House? I think we've got to do the hard work. In 2016, we were short 11,000 votes. That's two votes per precinct, which tells you that a conversation you have with a loved one or a neighbor or a fellow parishioner, whomever in your life you can talk to, we've got to do it.
Starting point is 00:18:04 Do something, as Michelle Obama said at the convention. Well, this is what we're doing. I think this was an excellent event overall. And the contrast right now where on the Trump side, Trump staffers are secretly trying to push Mark Robinson out of the race because he could lose North Carolina for Trump. Whereas there's this very notable unity on the Kamala Harris side. It's all very good. And we also have some good polling data, which I'm going to talk about after this very short break. Starting point is 00:22:22 for Kamala Harris in national polling. Now, I know no one poll tells you the story. Well, why would we look at national polling when we have the Electoral College? Let's only look at Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan, the swing states. But on the other hand, there is something critically important about a presidential candidate getting to 50 percent support in national polls. And we are getting very close to that with Kamala Harris. So let's start with the latest numbers.
Starting point is 00:22:47 Kamala Harris has now hit her record high lead nationally against Donald Trump of one point nine percentage points. She was up to one point eight at one point, then declined and now is back up to one point nine. This is the biggest lead she has had against Donald Trump in national polling this entire election cycle. Secondly, and of critical importance, Kamala Harris's average level of support is now forty nine point three percent. It would be a very big deal. And here are the trend lines. And as you can see, Kamala Harris has never been higher.
Starting point is 00:23:26 It is a major achievement to get to that 50 percent level of support. It doesn't guarantee anything, but it is important when in many of these elections you have a candidate winning, you know, 48 to 46.5 with some other percentage of the vote going to third party candidates. Now, what is Donald Trump's reaction to all of this? He's essentially just ignoring it and making things up. Trump posted on Truth Central, quote, New Rasmussen poll has us leading by eight points, fifty two to forty four. Smart people want a great economy, no inflation, energy independence, a strong military and border, no crime, a powerful Second Amendment, honest elections and much more MAGA Trump 2024. Now, the problem with this is that we can look at the results from the latest Rasmussen poll. The latest Rasmussen poll
Starting point is 00:24:26 involved eighteen hundred likely voters with a margin of error of two taken over the last six days. And it has Trump winning by two, not by eight. In the latest Rasmussen poll, Trump is not winning fifty two to forty four. He's winning forty nine to to 47. He is winning in that poll. It's almost the only poll since the election that shows Trump winning. But let's be honest now. Is it possible that there is some iteration of a Rasmussen poll that if you say, well, only among a certain age group or I don't know, like is the 52 to 44 number that Trump is citing? Does it exist anywhere? Maybe. But I certainly was not able to find it. Now,
Starting point is 00:25:13 one of the other issues that is now going to be a challenge for Donald Trump is that once again, the stock market is just blasting off. And this is really troubling to people that are supporting Donald Trump. I have hilarious video for you of Fox News host Larry Kudlow and former Trump adviser Larry Kudlow visibly looking distraught over record stock market numbers. Some of you may have been following that after much. We're going to do it. We're going to do it after much of that. The Federal Reserve has decided, yes, we are cutting interest rates 50 basis points, half a percent. On the one hand, this will mean that your high yield savings accounts are going to offer you less in the way of interest.
Starting point is 00:26:06 I already got emails from two banks at which I have high yield savings accounts saying, hey, in order to follow what is happening with the federal funds rate, we are going to be dropping the amount of interest we pay. On the other hand, traditionally, when the federal funds rate comes down, stocks go up. Larry Kudlow doesn't like it. Larry Kudlow recognizes that this is also going to undercut the claim that Democrats and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are terrible for the stock market. Check out Larry Kudlow. I inject this into my veins, please. So day after Fed Chairman Jay Powell sent Kamala Harris a 50 basis point election gift and completely
Starting point is 00:26:46 contradicted himself on the economy, whatever, the stock market roared. OK, our own Jerry Willis on the story. Jerry, what's cooking? Well, stocks are higher. Stocks surging today on hopes for a soft landing for the economy after the Federal Reserve slashed the fed funds rate yesterday 50 basis points the dow in market action today up 522 points the s&p up 95 the nasdaq up 440 all three major averages hitting all-time highs after the best day for markets since august 8th that is the rally also lifting small cap stocks as investors risk appetite was whetted by the fed's accommodative stance nearly every sector rising tech and consumer discretionary of course but also the everything is up oh no can we somehow explain why this is bad for biden index that's semiconductors rising 4.8 banks and energy higher
Starting point is 00:27:40 as well meanwhile markets are expecting more gas fully pricing in a 25 basis point cut when the Fed meets in November. 42% of investors say it will be another half point cut. Maybe the other critical number I should mention here, the 30 year fixed rate mortgage moving to 6.09% down 11 basis points. Back to you. All right. Good report, Jerry Wills. Thanks very much. All good for the Kudlow Trust. On the other hand, Jay Powell's 50 bips gift to Kamala Harris isn't a plan. And that's the subject of the riff. Listen to this. No matter how political Fed Chairman Jay Powell may be with his 50 basis points election gift to Kamala Harris, the person who helped the American economy the most was Donald Trump.
Starting point is 00:28:28 I hope everybody's wearing their seatbelt. During the pre-pandemic first three years of his administration. OK, new census numbers show real median income growth during Mr. Trump's pre pandemic first three years compared to Joe Biden's overall take home pay for typical families increased more than five times as much under Mr. Trump than under Biden, up six thousand dollars and 40 cents for Trump versus just one thousand fifty bucks under Biden. Harris. Now, I actually look to confirm that data and wasn't able to, but it doesn't really matter because there are two main points that Larry
Starting point is 00:29:12 Kudlow and others are trying to make about the economy right now, because when you look, oh, my goodness, the stock market inflation is down, unemployment is down, job creations up, wages are outpacing inflation. We've got to come up with something. One of the claims they make is that the economy was better under Trump. And even the things that seem good now are thanks to Trump. I want you to think back to when Donald Trump as candidate Trump in 2015 and 2016 said that if he became president, the economy would be so good that he would pay off the national debt in one term.
Starting point is 00:29:44 Now, it was ridiculous. He didn't even get us a surplus in a single year. Think about the economy was good up until covid. I've never denied that. I've always said I'm not playing politics. This stuff will just look at the numbers. The economy remained good in Trump's earlier part of the term. Job creation slowed down from where it was under Barack Obama, but it was still positive. It was still good. Unemployment was relatively low. And despite a fantastic economy, Trump wasn't even able to reduce the deficit, never mind get us any surplus, never mind pay off the debt, which he promised he would do. If with such a good economy, Trump increased the deficit, any credibility he has on his economic promises goes out the window. Now, let me address the second thing here.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Conservative commentators, Larry Kudlow and others have said, I don't even know that we needed any federal funds cut. If we did, it should have been twenty five basis points, not 50. This is an overtly political action by Jay Powell to hurt Donald Trump and help Kamala Harris by juicing the stock market. The truth is that Jay Powell doesn't just decide what to do. The way that this is decided is with 12 regional Fed directors who weigh in and say, here's what we should do. Some of them are Republicans. Some of them are Democrats. At least in theory, they aren't acting out of political
Starting point is 00:31:12 motivation. Eleven of the 12 said, let's do a 50 basis point cut. And so this fantasy that Jay Powell sits there and he goes, all right, six weeks left until the election, five weeks, five, six weeks, something like that. Let's now help Kamala Harris. It's just not up to him in that way. And now they're their own argument from Trump's presidency that when the stock market goes up, it's because of the president that's now coming back to haunt them. And all Larry Kudlow do can do is just grimace the way he does when he has to acknowledge one of the best days for the stock market in a very long time. If you have a job, if you own a house, if you're thinking of buying a house, if you have a retirement plan, any of these things, you're better off now than you were at the
Starting point is 00:32:03 start of Joe Biden's presidency. And it looks like things are going to get even better. A neon orange Donald Trump delivered an unhinged anti-Semitic speech at an event for a Jewish group supposedly to fight anti-Semitism, where he threatened Jews with blaming them if he loses, said Israel will cease to exist in two years unless he defeats Kamala Harris and essentially asked us, I say this as a Jewish person, asked us, how dare we not support him? Here is Donald Trump saying, how am I not polling better among Jews? And by the way, I apologize for the audio call. I just told you how good the polls are, but we need every vote we can get.
Starting point is 00:32:53 The current polling has me with Jewish citizens, Jewish people, people that's supposed to love Israel. After having done all of that, having been the best president, the greatest president by far, by self-declared far. A poll just came out. I'm at 40 percent. That means you got 60 percent voting for somebody that hates Israel. And I say it, it's going to happen. It's only because of the Democrat hold or curse on you. You can't let this happen. Think about that.
Starting point is 00:33:29 I the Democrats have they've put a curse on me as a Jewish person, and that's why I'm not voting for Donald Trump. What an absolutely disgusting disaster disaster. And by the way, there's no if I'm not a betting man, but if I were to bet, I'm betting 40 percent of Jewish Americans do not vote for Donald Trump. It is never the case that 40 percent of Jewish Americans vote for the Republican candidate. Trump also continued just hammering on Jewish Americans, saying Jews have not treated him well.
Starting point is 00:34:04 But look, this is the most important election in the history of the United States. And it's also the most important election in the history of Israel. The United States election is the most important election in the history of Israel. Actually, if you think about it, how crazy does that sound? But it's crazy. With all I have done for Israel, I received only 24 percent of the Jewish vote. Now think of this. I really haven't been treated very well, but that's the story of my life.
Starting point is 00:34:34 That's the story of my life. The Jews are not treating Trump well and then really getting out over his skis. I would say Trump says you will be to blame. You Jews will be to blame if I lose. And, you know, it's not Trump's not the first guy who came up with the idea of blaming Jews for stuff that we've seen that for several thousand years, haven't we? But I will put it to you very simply and gently. I really haven't been treated right. But you haven't been treated right because you're putting yourself in great danger. And the United States hasn't been treated right. So if I don't win this election and I've been very good, you know, they say Trump's been right about everything. I have been right about a lot of things. Even Ted will admit that. I've been right about a lot of things. A lot of things that a lot of people said, no, that won't happen.
Starting point is 00:35:29 But a lot of bad things happened and some good things I've been right about too. And I only want to be, so I'm not going to call this as a prediction, but in my opinion, the Jewish people would have a lot to do with a loss if I'm at 40%. If I'm at 40%,. I'm at four.
Starting point is 00:35:45 Think of it. That means 60 percent of voting for Kamala, who in particular is a bad Democrat. The Democrats are bad to Israel. Very bad. They'll never change because they have a section of their party now, which has become amazingly and quickly very powerful vote wise. I mean, Chuck Schumer is a Palestinian. There you go.
Starting point is 00:36:04 Chuck Schumer is now news to me. Chuck Schumer is a Palestinian. There you go. Chuck Schumer is now news to me. Chuck Schumer is a Palestinian. That is really quite the threat. Now, when I first saw this, I said to myself, there must be some context that explains this where he's not just saying, I will blame the Jews if I lose. It can't possibly be that he would say something like that. Right. But that's exactly what he's saying.
Starting point is 00:36:20 He went to speak to a Jewish group supposedly about how anti-Semitism is a problem and he dumps in one of the classic anti-Semitic tropes, which is let's blame the Jews for things. I don't know about you, but as a Jewish person myself, when I hear this, I don't say to myself, I guess I should vote Trump. Maybe he's right. Maybe I should vote for him. This is intended to sow division and distrust and undermine our democracy. And if anything, this sort of rhetoric is going to lead to more violence against Jewish Americans. Now, after the break, Trump spoke to two Jewish groups yesterday. We're going to look at the other speech at which he suffered a complete and total nervous breakdown. So stay with us. Not all men's underwear is the same with traditional underwear. The sticking and the

The link is in the podcast notes. Donald Trump spoke to not one but two Jewish groups yesterday at one of the events, as I already played for you. He threatened Jews with blaming them if he loses and says, how dare you not support me? At the second event with the Israeli American Council. Trump suffered a complete and
Starting point is 00:40:07 total meltdown over his debate collapse against Kamala Harris, which did not really entertain the audience very much. Now, I do think it's important to mention that Donald Trump appeared generally confused during this event and sort of delivered a meandering teleprompter read, often seemingly embroiled in a battle against the dictionary and the words that were up on the prompt. Kamala's. Partnered and just she's partnered with anybody she can, you hear the things coming out of the administration, you hear what they're saying? But she pandered to. Yeah. So struggling with pandered and instead saying partnered multiple times, gripping the lectern
Starting point is 00:40:53 and seeming more or less disconnected from the words on the prompter. Now for whatever reason, at this event, Trump became fixated on the presidential debate, the debate, which was arguably one of the worst debate performances in modern American political history. Oh, but David, what about Joe Biden on June 27th? Yes, Joe Biden's performance on June 27th wasn't good. I'm not defending that, but that has nothing to do with what we're talking about right now. Right now we're talking about Trump's disastrous debate performance, globally humiliated and laughed at. They're eating your cats. They're eating your dogs, the whole thing. And Trump just became obsessed. And he started saying apropos of nothing. I won the debate by a lot.
Starting point is 00:41:40 Speaker 3 And let me tell you, I won that debate by a lot, by a lot. And let me tell you, I won that debate by a lot, by a lot. And I walked off the stage. I said, man, did I beat her? Even though I was against three people, I kept saying I said, what are you doing here? Yeah, that's exactly how it went. Trump got off the stage and said, man, did I beat her? It sounds like Trump is trying to convince himself more than anybody else. And obviously the ship has sailed on judging how that debate went. And Trump just continuing fixated on this, saying that it was three on one and it's also unfair. I only have one regret that I wanted to be elegant and I didn't want to attack the anchors, which would have been very easy to do.
Starting point is 00:42:29 So I didn't attack them, but I should have attacked them because it was three on one like a basketball game. Three on one is very hard, but we did well. Yeah. Listen, when you lie and a debate moderator goes, by the way, that's not true. That doesn't mean they're lobbying for anyone. They're just pointing out that you're lying. When Trump said I won in 2020 and they fact checked and said you didn't win in 2020, that's
Starting point is 00:42:58 not partisan. That's the election results. When Trump said that there are legal post-birth abortions in some democratically run states and Lindsay Davis said there is not a single state in which that exists and it wouldn't be an abortion anyway, that is not partisan. It's just that's fundamentally untrue. As I've pointed out before, there's a big difference between politician lies with regard to what happens if the debt gets too large or, you know, areas where there's disagreement and it's about sort of your worldview. There's a difference between that and I won the election in 2020
Starting point is 00:43:39 when you didn't win or there are post-birth abortions when there are not. And the problem that we're now facing is a vicious cycle in which Trump lies so much that if you apply just the most soft standard of analysis, you have to say, hey, we can't really even go further in the conversation unless we clarify like that. That's not true because to them now everything has become a matter of opinion. Even who won the election is a matter of opinion. They see any corrective measure to just get us back to the facts as some kind of partisan biased intervention. So it creates a really difficult situation. I have an entire chapter in my forthcoming book, The Echo Machine, about this called What Are Facts? Not what are the facts, just what are facts and how we no longer even have a shared understanding of what counts, what sort of
Starting point is 00:44:33 a statement counts as a fact makes it very difficult to deal with these people. Finally, Donald Trump really struggling with the word rescued. Who was recused? Yeah, Andre was rescued. Who was recused? No, Andre was rescued. A big struggle, a big struggle for Trump. And it seems as though scheduling two events in the same day is beyond Trump's level of cognitive and physical fitness at this point in time. I want to go back and talk about the Supreme Court a little bit. It's been a couple of months since I laid out for you the Supreme Court frame through which we need to think about the forthcoming election.
Starting point is 00:45:20 And Donald Trump, in an interview with Newsmax, did a great job of reminding us of that. Here is Trump telling us what he will likely do as far as the Supreme Court goes if he gets another four years or they're in. But one more thing I want to get to Supreme Court, you appointed three justices. I mean, it is a massive triumph for your administration in four years. It led to giving the states the rights to decide whether abortion should be limited or not. In a second term, anybody on the top of your list for that? I have a lot of people that I think about. I've gotten to watch judges very closely. And yeah, I do. I have a lot. And we could get to a point another one or two, maybe. But I do watch that very closely.
Starting point is 00:46:06 And some judges have great respect for great respect. I'm very proud of the people I appointed. OK, so Trump is saying he is hoping to appoint two Supreme Court justices. He's right to hope for that. That's how Trump could control the judiciary in the United States for decades. Whoever is the next president has a really good chance at appointing two Supreme Court justices. Now, it is true.
Starting point is 00:46:33 It is true that they may try to hold out longer if it is a Democrat who wins in November, Kamala Harris, rather than a Republican in the same in the sense that we saw this in other cases. If you believe that your retirement will lead to you being replaced by someone of the opposite political persuasion, you might try to stick around. But Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito are likely are likely to retire, certainly if Donald Trump gets four more years. If Trump replaces Thomas and Alito, that means Trump will have selected or nominated five of nine Supreme Court justices. And based on the ages of the other justices, that means we could have a mega Supreme Court
Starting point is 00:47:23 into the 2040s, potentially 2048 or 2050. Just think about that for a moment. On the other hand, on the other hand, if Kamala Harris becomes the president, maybe Alito and Thomas try to stick it out. And depending on health and different things, maybe they do, maybe they don't. But at minimum, at minimum, we eliminate the possibility of a MAGA dominated Supreme Court for a generation. Sure, Alito and Thomas maybe don't retire. And sure, maybe a Republican defeats Kamala Harris in twenty twenty eight and then between twenty twenty nine and twenty thirty three ends up selecting the replacements for Alito and Thomas. But at least it's not a five ninths Trump selected Supreme Court, which would I mean
Starting point is 00:48:16 that that would put Trump in control of the Supreme Court until he would be over 100 years old if he were to live that long. Baruch Hashem, which statistically he probably would not. So think back to 2016 when I was saying I wasn't the only one saying it. I didn't come up with this and not patting myself on the back. But there were many of us saying, you know, Trump, if he wins, might get one, two or three Supreme Court picks. I would much rather Hillary Clinton make those selections than Donald Trump. And indeed, Donald Trump ended up getting three.
Starting point is 00:48:52 And then there's no more Roe v. Wade and many other critical Supreme Court decisions. So that's not pie in the sky. It's very real. We saw it already. Let's not let it happen again. Let's take a very quick break. Speaking of the book, make sure that you've preordered the echo machine on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Audible, Apple, audio books, bookshop dot org, or quite literally any local bookstore

Republican supported rules that allow local election boards to question and withhold election certification, potentially causing chaos after Election Day. The summary of this story on Ground News is based on every article Ground News found reporting on it. And with a simple scroll, you can see how different outlets across the political spectrum
Starting point is 00:51:59 are framing the story. Voter suppression is real. And in this case, the perpetrators are elected officials who can be voted out, but only if the public understands the story from every angle. And that's where ground news comes in. We also will sometimes feature YouTube comments or tick tock replies or who knows what. But we're starting today with a beautiful email from Carrie. We rarely get these. Carrie says, hey, David, been listening to your podcast a couple of years, website member for a year.
Starting point is 00:52:57 Just wanted to drop a quick message about how much I love and appreciate your show. I look forward to listening to it every day and thank you for working so hard to put out a show every day and truly don't know how I would stay sane in this election without it. Thank you again for everything you do. Keep it up, Carrie. Well, thank you, Carrie. It is great to get messages like these. Even people who like the show usually hate elements of it, and they usually only write in about the elements that they hate. So I really do appreciate it. And thanks to Carrie for being a member on my website.
Starting point is 00:53:36 That is, of course, our primary funding source. It keeps us going. We I mean, without that, like poof, like what? Like cotton candy when you pour water on it, we would be gone, gone overnight. So really appreciate Carrie. All right. Now, for a different perspective, we received a message on Tik Tok from Anto lyrics who said, You support gays. That's disgusting behavior. The Western countries and the USA should do away with. You are a disgrace to humankind, a disgrace to humankind. You know, it's it's sort of jarring. Twelve years ago,
Starting point is 00:54:17 when I would do the show and I would get people writing in, I can't believe you support gays. It would be like, OK, you still kind of have a group of people that's obsessed with that. But now that we've legalized gay marriage and it's been years and of course, everything's completely fine and none of the sky is falling predictions came to be. It's kind of jarring to get messages like I'm bad because I support gay people. What does that even mean at this point? I don't support just imprisoning gay people. I don't support what the death penalty for gay people like some of these people say that their religious beliefs dictate. What does it even mean that I support gay people?
Starting point is 00:54:59 I don't care about your identity. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity and not have rights or privileges based on identity or have them taken away based on identity. Yes. To that extent, I support gay people in the same way that I support men and women and white people and black people and Jewish people, Christians, Muslims and atheists. Everybody gets to participate in society without discrimination against them, without being jeered, harassed, hate crimes, all of that stuff. Call me a supporter of gay people if that's what you mean. Twenty twenty four. Twenty twenty four. And we're still dealing with this. South's last rebel commented on YouTube. I'm sure you liberals would love for him not to be behind bulletproof glass.
Starting point is 00:55:53 L.O.L. vote read President Trump twenty twenty four. You know, it's funny in the aftermath of the first time Trump was shot at by a Republican, I immediately said I completely denounce political violence and violence of any kind. President Biden said the same thing. Kamala Harris said the same thing. Every Democrat said the same thing. That's not what you saw after Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul Pelosi, had his skull cracked in with a hammer in their home in California. You saw a very different reaction. And then after another former Trump voter, this time at Trump's golf club in Florida over the weekend, was found with an AK-47 style rifle plotting to shoot at Trump again after yet a former Trump voter. Trump
Starting point is 00:56:46 wasn't Trumpy enough for this Trump voter. I said, this is disgusting. I want to win at the ballot box, not with bullets. And yet I keep getting messages like this. You liberals would love for Trump to be shot dead. No, no, that's not the way I want to win. I don't know where this guy's getting this idea. Stewart wrote in about Trump's contradictory abortion argument and says, David, I want to help. I want your help clarifying a point made by Trump regarding the abortion debate. Trump has stated everyone wanted abortion rights to return to the states, but simultaneously claims that only he could make it happen, that it took 50 years and was only accomplished because of him as an appoint and his appointed justices. Could you explain how this aligns? If it was widely desired,
Starting point is 00:57:35 why was no one able to make it happen before Trump? His argument seems contradictory. That's Stewart from Manchester, UK. So here's the way I think Trump would say it, even though everybody wanted it, it being the repeal of Roe v. Wade, even though everybody wanted it all along. Thanks to Democrats, the left, liberals, Marxists, communists, socialists, whatever, the Supreme Court was held back from having the makeup that would have been required to overturn Roe v. Wade. So Trump's explanation and I'm not saying I agree with it because most people actually wanted Roe v. Wade to stay. The premise is a lie. Most people wanted Roe v. Wade to stay. But doesn't matter. Trump's explanation would be the stars aligned perfectly so that he could nominate these
Starting point is 00:58:26 three Supreme Court justices at the exact time that the right cases would come before them and the will of the people would finally be done. The biggest problem with this argument is it's not the will of the people and more people today than at any point in the last 50 years believe abortion should be legal in most cases. Kathy Jennings wrote in, I guess, about Kamala referring to her as Camilla. This is really weaponized, unintelligible stuff. And I just want to remind you that these people vote, quote, You do not you do not understand real business. You understand Camilla's business. Nothing zero business for America.
Starting point is 00:59:09 We the Americans need something better. We need Donald Trump and office. Somebody that got balls, a real man amends to talk to the dictators and tell him what to do and what and what not. Couldn't possibly respond to that. Someone in my audience, please vote to cancel out the vote of this deranged person that is commenting on my YouTube channel. Another YouTube comment. I want Donald Trump to lose. And I was a lifelong Republican until he came along. Yeah, it seems that there are many of you. It seems that there are many of you. The question is, are there enough of you in the states where
Starting point is 01:00:00 it matters to make a difference in terms of who is going to win. Welcome. OK, do I agree with all of these Republicans who now go, no, no, Trump's not for me. No, I'm sure we would disagree on tax policy, education policy, social policy, foreign policy, domestic policy. I'm sure we would disagree about all those things. but at least we wouldn't disagree that we should have a democracy. I would hope at least we wouldn't disagree that the winner of the election should get to be president. So yeah, when I talk about let's welcome all of these anti-Trump Republicans, it's not
Starting point is 01:00:39 because all of a sudden I've gone right wing and I agree with them. It's because even when we disagree on a lot of political issues, we agree about basic decency and democracy, hopefully. And to the extent that we do, they can come to our side. I'm not going to theirs. They can come to our side. We should be encouraging it. David Peterson commented. The reality is Trump wouldn't even have a VP if it wasn't a traditional necessity. Oh, absolutely. We I don't know that we've ever talked about this, but it's a it's an excellent point.
Starting point is 01:01:12 Trump doesn't want a VP. J.D. Vance is a burden to Trump. Trump gets asked, you know, J.D. said this and Trump has to say, you know, I actually haven't spoken with J.D. about it. And he kind of throws him under the bus. Trump has to deal with the fact that the popularity of J.D. Vance is a problem for Trump. Trump doesn't want any of these issues. It is absolutely right what David is saying.
Starting point is 01:01:35 If it wasn't a sort of requirement and necessity, Trump would go, I know better than everybody. Don't need a VP. I'm going to be fine. Something happens to me. You know, Laura Loomer or whoever will just sit in for me and it'll be absolutely fine. Yeah, that's the level of his narcissism and and egomania. Randor Orlando says I was a Republican registered voter before Trump got involved in American politics and I want Trump and his MAGA cult to lose this November. I don't recognize the Republican Party anymore.
Starting point is 01:02:16 Yeah. Another one of those that come on over, you know, vote for democracy, vote for keeping the pillars that the country was built on stable and intact. Come on over. And then Susan wrote in about Trump's decline. His decline is so obvious, says Susan. When will the grown ups in the Republican Party step up and admit that he is totally incapable of the presidency. You know when they'll do it, if and when he loses. That's it. They are desperate. They are thirsty for power. And they see that if Kamala Harris is president, they're not going to be buddy buddy with the president and have access to power. However, if Trump is president and they suck up to him enough and in the right way,
Starting point is 01:03:11 then they could have access to power and they like the perks. I can go to the White House. I can go on Air Force One. I can fly with Trump to wherever it is that he's going. They are desperate for it. And so you will hear the Republican Party at large. You know, we hear it anecdotally, Mitt Romney, Adam Kinzinger, Liz Cheney. But if you want the the party in some bigger way to really say Trump's a disaster, that's it. He can't do it. He's not fit. It will take Trump losing in November or winning and then being out of office in January of twenty twenty nine, which, by the way, sounds very far away, doesn't it? Let's not make it that option. We've got a great bonus show for you today. Sign up at join Pacman dot com. Please remember to preorder my forthcoming book, The Echo Machine, available at David
