Welcome to the D-Break.
Heya.
Heya.
With your co-host, Katie McNeil.
And your co-host, Katie Leach.
Is that time of the day again?
Oh, it's Monday.
Rolls around quick.
Rolls around quick, doesn't it?
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday's Monday. Rolls around quick. Rolls around quick, doesn't it? Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
There was like a song in Spanish that was like... I think it's...
Lunes?
Lunes, martes, miércoles.
Miércoles!
Miércoles.
It begins with a J.
Oval.
Fry.
Lunes, martes, miércoles. Oval. Fry.
Martes.
Miércoles.
I'm gonna have to look this up.
First...
Tell me, Peach.
Jueves.
And then I think it's...
Viernes. And Sabado Domingo.
Sabado Domingo.
Yeah.
Big sign.
Right, Peach, would you like to start us off this week?
Yeah.
My mantra is, every day is a blessing.
Every day is a blessing.
Because it is.
Plot twist, it is.
Plot twist, we're blessed.
Because I need to tell you, I had the most horrendous dream last night where I dreamt,
I got told I was dying.
Oh, Katie!
It genuinely was actually, I genuinely was actually quite impacted by it today.
They were like, this is your last day on earth.
Like you're going to die tonight.
And I had like a cold or something. I thought
really young. I was in this living room, like wired up like it was a hospice and had people
coming to my bedside to say goodbye. And I actually died in my dream. And everyone was
like, everyone's around me and they're like, Katie, so you're watching yourself die. And
I died and I woke up genuinely nearly crying. Oh my God, no, that's so scary.
Who was here saying goodbye to you?
It was literally like my family, you guys, your parents, like everyone.
And I was literally saying, I was like, I'm going to have to ask Kit what she thinks this
means because I was like, what on earth does this mean?
Okay.
I think maybe a lack of control.
Yeah.
Because interestingly, I looked it and it said, interestingly,
letting go of something, having to get over or let go of something. And I was like, I was like,
Oh, guys, debrief us, we share so much with you, but I wish we could share
more. I wish we could share more with what we think this means. And I was like, damn,
stop it. Damn. Yeah. So that's where I'm at. So I literally woke up and I was genuinely
like sweating near tears, like two in the morning. It is fascinating how dreams make you feel so emotional.
I felt so impacted.
So that's like the other day when I told you that I got, I dreamt that I was fingered by
a woman.
Yeah.
And I've never, I've never had any, I've never had a sexual experience with a woman.
So I was like, God, I wonder what this means.
I know.
And also my dream, I had no idea who she was.
Yeah.
But you know how there's that thing that you can't make up faces. So I've clearly met this woman, but I've got
no idea who she is.
Niamh- Crazy. Absolutely wild.
Sarah- Really wild.
Niamh- So yeah, every day is a blessing.
Sarah- Every day is a blessing.
Niamh- You may die.
Sarah- So, oh stop it.
Niamh- No, I know. Actually that was pretty bleak. Every day is a blessing.
Sarah- Every day is a blessing.
Niamh- What's your mantra?
Sarah- My mantra for this week is, I honor my fire and I trust the journey.
Oh, I love that.
The fire within me.
Yeah.
Because you've got to honor yourself.
You do.
You've got to honor what's going on for me.
You've got to respect yourself.
And I also honor how well I'm doing.
Yeah.
And I trust it.
Big time.
I trust the journey and I trust my own process and I know that everything will come together.
I love it.
And I'll achieve my dreams.
Big time.
You will love my songs this week.
Give it to me.
And you'll know where this has come from.
Yeah.
Baby, baby, baby, because I was born this way.
I'm on the right track.
Baby, I'm born this way.
Mama, da ba, da ba, da ba, da ba, da ba, da ba.
All this way, Lady Gaga. Now me, Katie and Archie have been rewatching The Glee.
Glee, 1010. And they did the Gaga week. Gaga. Oh, I heard you guys watching the Regionals
final. Emotional, so emotional. It was amazing. So amazing. It was amazing. The Bohemian Rhapsody.
Yeah. Iconic. So iconic. And also, come on, Sousa Vesta. V amazing. It was amazing. The Bohemian Rhapsody. Yeah.
Iconic.
So iconic.
And also come on, Sue Sylvester.
Voting for the new directions.
Vote for the new directions.
How'd I gold that woman?
And put-
Vocal adrenaline.
Vocal adrenaline last.
As she should.
People underestimate Sue Sylvester, but she is the icon.
She is the home and she is the queen.
She is the queen.
Love that.
You, me, our housemate and arch need to go as Glee.
We need to.
Sue Sylvester will Schuster.
I think I could do, you could do like a Cheerio.
Cheerio.
And then maybe I'd be like, fuck.
That'd be hilarious.
That'd be really funny.
Oh man.
But my song this week is.
This shit's gonna kill me but I won't let it.
And I'm trying to keep them hell but
they won't get it and I tell myself but I feel so right don't lose sight baby don't
lose sight. I love it. This song came up on my TikTok and it's literally like called Don't
Lose Sight. Can't remember the name of it off the top of my head right now who did it.
But it's insane.
You will love it.
I will send it to you.
I would love to hit this please.
That sounds like a bop.
It's such a bop.
I love it.
Don't lose sight.
Baby, don't lose sight.
I'm literally like, hell yeah, I won't.
Thank you.
Thank you for telling me because I won't.
Now I won't.
I'm not a mug.
I love that.
Exactly.
You're in for record recommendations. My recommendation is actually an oldie but a goodie is Juice Baby.
In Chelsea!
I loved it.
I took my mother there for brunch once and she was like, Kitty, why have you never taken
me to this glorious establishment?
It's so-
And I was like, mommy, I know.
Because I can't afford it.
Literally, I went on my break the other day because it was really sunny.
And I thought-
And you passed to it?
There's one in Notting Hill.
Oh, I see.
So I was like, I'll go to Ju- I was like, I want a smoothie.
I want like a-
Cold.
It was like halfway through the day and I had to take my break earlier than I usually do. So I was like, I can't have lunch right now. So I'll see if there's
like a smoothie or something. Went to Juice Baby and got a smoothie. Oh my God. It was
so, oh yeah. It was like £8.75 but it was worth every damn penny. It was so yummy. Every
damn penny. I love it. I was like, Oh, I'm going to get addicted to this. Oh my God. Every damn Yeah. It's sensational. Yeah. I'm addicted now. I mean, I've only had it once, but I was like, I went for a run.
Is it fizzy?
No.
It's like, you know, the mango cooler is one of the coolers.
So it's mango and dragon fruit.
Oh my God.
And it's like a purpley color.
And I went for a run and then got one after.
I was like, this is so refreshing.
Okay.
Are you ready?
Yeah. Let's debrief. So this week, Kitty McNeil, we're talking all about marathons.
Of course.
Right?
So as we should be.
I watched my mother run the London Marathon.
Jane, she smashed it.
She smashed it.
But as so many do, right, everyone watches a marathon.
It's emotional.
It's a big day.
You're watching people achieve a massive physical feat. Oh, it makes I could do that. Yeah, I could do that. Did you hear Spence Matthews
did it in three hours, seven minutes? Three hours. So when we watch it, it inspired me to run a
marathon. Now, I'm sure I didn't follow my impulse. My impulse was like, enter the ballot, enter the
ballot. I didn't. I know myself a bit better than that, but I know you entered the ballot.
I have. Fight for it.
Do you know over a million people have entered?
A million?
Over a million people have entered the ballot for London next year.
Wow.
Yeah. I was like, well, no skin off my back.
Someone can take my place.
Say, take my place.
No wonder not everyone gets in.
I know.
It's a very competitive thing unless you're going through a charity or a sponsorship.
But it inspires many to want to run a marathon.
I will say I have redownloaded couch to 5k.
Now we're back on it outside.
But we asked the debrief if they would ever run
a full marathon. Tell us girlies. And here's what they said. 56% said yeah. Come on girls.
I was like, okay. Yeah I love this. Whereas 44% said no. And I thought fair thought. And
do you know what? I respect the odds there. Because I think the amount of
people I chat to, I think it's 50-50. People are like, yeah, I'd love to. And others are
like, oh no, I really wouldn't.
I'd love to do it once in my life.
Yeah, me too. This is the thing. I'm like, if I get into the London Marathon, fantastic,
I'm going for it. I've already booked two halves before then.
So what halves are you doing?
I'm doing the Bath Sea one and the park one.
Oh, royal parks. Oh, amazing.
So I'm doing both before. And then if I get into the London one, fine. If I don't, I'm
going to sign up to do a different one.
Oh my god, that's so exciting.
But I need to do it.
You could easily do a marathon. You've run half marathons. Everyone's like, that's half the battle.
That's true.
Yeah, that's true.
And I really enjoyed half.
I think I've done about four half marathons now, not as in like within a competition.
Yeah, yeah.
And really, really enjoyed it.
So I think I can imagine like the time is like the crowds are really good, where it's
like, yeah, come on,
go on.
I think I would cry though.
Oh, I'd be in bits watching you run a marathon.
I was in bits watching my mum.
I was like, oh my god, me and my dad were sobbing.
Oh really?
My other two sisters are like, you're right.
It's just so nice.
It is, it's emotional.
It's like, look at this person do something that's beating the
impossible.
Honestly, it's like-
It's like proving everyone wrong. It makes me cry.
It's insane. And also like the reasons why people run us.
Oh, I know.
I was sobbing. There was like a TikToker that went round like the finisher's pen in the
London Marathon and went up to people and asked them why they were running and just
listening to everyone's stories. Like some were just like, I just always wanted to do it. And others are like, a friend of
mine passed away and I promised that I'd do it. Dr. Alex, you know, from Love Island,
he had a close friend of his or a colleague, they were planning on running the London Marathon
like 10 years ago and she got cancer and died. And she said like, please can run the marathon, you know, and he didn't get like he pulled
out and then didn't get around to it. And he ran it this year. And he was like, this
is all for you. And I was literally like, oh, it's like, it's such like what a homage.
Like, I just yeah, such an amazing thing is that it's a huge thing to put your body through.
Yeah, it's a huge thing to put your brain through, like mentally, physically.
It's really, really challenging.
And I think anyone who's done a marathon, honestly hats off to you because I think it's
such a push.
You have to not train physically, but mentally.
Oh, you have to dig deep.
You have to tell yourself, I can do this, I can keep going.
When I did my first half marathon, up to 17K,
I was like, yeah, okay.
The last five was the worst.
Yeah.
Because I was like, I don't think I can do this.
Like, I've got so long to go, you know.
But like, I think what's different is the environment
and the people cheering you on.
Yeah, yeah.
Like it's so, it's so honorable and it's so impressive and you must feel just so proud
of yourself.
Massively.
I think it's also about, I think the first marathon, not if you're doing it for competitive
reasons, but just getting through, you know, just getting through it.
Come on, I can do this.
Honestly. I can do this. Honestly. I can do this.
Yeah.
You know?
So we researched some top tips for running a marathon.
Lovely.
And this is what we found.
Okay.
So to follow a beginner friendly plan.
Lovely.
This would be if I was running a marathon, I need to get past the five kilometer mark.
Yeah, for sure.
For sure. For sure.
That's 5k eight times.
Yeah.
That's insane.
That's wild to me.
Yeah.
And then-
It actually makes me feel quite good about it though.
5k eight times.
Because I'm like 5k, got that.
Yeah.
Eight times, could do that.
I'm waiting to get to the point where I'm like-
20k twice makes me like no.
20k twice is crazy.
10k four times, mmm, okay.
Yeah. Eight times. Could do that. I'm waiting to get to the point where I'm like- 20k twice makes me like no. 20k twice is crazy. 10k four times. Okay. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. But I don't know. I'm like, fuck, that's a lot. Because I think I'd quite like the
8k, 5k eight times because I could tick them each off. Yeah. When I tick each 5k, that
would be quite nice. I feel like that could be quite nice.
Because I think following an easy plan, everyone says runner's really good.
I've never used it.
Yeah, everyone says it's really, really good.
But it sets out, it takes your experience and then sets it out and is like, you need
to do this.
This is what you need to do, yeah.
Like, that seems like a good idea.
I think if I get in and I want to do a different one, I think I will buy runner. Yeah, you
should definitely. Because everyone raves about it. Second one is prioritizing rest
and recovery. Now this is only, I'm just an observer of people who run marathons. You
know, our flatmates have run marathons. My mum's always run marathons. And the biggest
thing is that they get the miles in the legs and then have rest days,
lots of rest days, keeping it chill, easy breezy.
Niamh Yeah, interesting that isn't it?
Sarah Also, active recovery is something that people
don't think about where it's like, actually, I feel like sometimes if you stop, your legs will
like... Niamh
Yeah, and your muscles will try to turn intense completely.
Sarah The other one that was interesting was test
everything before race day, almost like a dress rehearsal. Niamh and tents completely. The other one that was interesting was test everything before race day, almost like a
dress rehearsal.
Yeah, completely.
Because what if you eat something and shit yourself?
Yeah.
Also socks, don't wear new socks.
The one thing that I kept seeing from girls is on TikTok running marathons, get running
socks.
I'm wearing my running socks now.
I'm like, you know, you don't have to invest in really bougie things, but do not just wear
normal bloody cotton socks.
Your feet will be in state.
So wear running socks and have done use them before.
Yes.
Don't allow this to be the first day.
Did your toenails fall off?
They didn't fall off, but one of mine, not all of them, but my big toenail did. That fell off because
it kept pushing, rubbing and then just thing off.
Yeah, not nice.
Did you touch it?
I felt when I see my-
Because your foot is squishy.
I felt like kind of like a liquidy in my foot. Then I saw through my trainer there was like
blood on my toe and I was like, well, that can't be good. But because my body was just so just concentrated, I didn't really feel it until
like I looked at my feet. I was like, oh, and then I remember taking my like socks off
and my toenail was like, yeah, clinging on. Yeah, for dear life. Yeah. Sure.
And the last one was set a realistic goal. Hey, yeah, if I was going to set out a
marathon, I was going to run a big boy marathon 26.2 miles and was like, gonna do it in two hours.
Yeah, exactly. I feel like pace is a very important thing because it is a marathon,
not a sprint. Completely. But I also feel if someone wants to do a marathon, I'm like, and that's the
first big, obviously, you would have had to do a 5k, 10k before having all that kind of
training. But if this is the first thing, why are you concentrating on time?
Yeah, just get through it.
It doesn't matter what time you finished in it, it's literally just doing it.
Yeah.
I think that's a huge thing.
Oh my god, absolutely. There's such an ego around time.
Completely. I don't think I'm going to focus on time with my marathon. No. I think I'm just going to be like, let me do it. Yeah. That's a huge thing. Oh my god. Absolutely. There's such an ego around time. Completely. I don't think I'm going to focus on time with my marathon. No. I think I'm just
going to be like, let me do it. Honestly, like get, because you're still a marathon runner.
Yeah. Still run a marathon. Does it matter what time you did it in? First place and last place,
still around the same marathon. Exactly. Yeah. Quite right. That's it. Yeah, exactly.
That's it. Yeah, exactly. Are you ready for dilemmas? Dilemmas. Okay. I'm just going to put you here while I have a crisp. Oh my God. Of course. So, hi girls. I spent six months training for an upcoming marathon. Congratulations. Early mornings,
saw everything, skipping out on plans. This race kind of took over my life.
And yeah, pardon me, really thought that when the big day came,
it would feel like this amazing moment.
But leading up to it, I started noticing something that hit harder than I expected.
No one seemed to care.
I know.
I'd bring it up casually like, yeah, I've got my longest run this weekend or
the race is in two weeks.
And people would just nod or change the subject.
My family didn't ask much about it and my friends acted like it was just another thing
I was doing for fun, like I was knitting or something.
It really sucked, honestly.
I didn't expect a parade, but a little support would have been nice.
A good luck or you've got this or something.
The night before the race, I kept thinking, why am I even doing this? No one's going to be there.
No one will even notice if I finish or not.
But I got up the next morning anyway, got dressed, tied my shoes and got myself down
to the starting line.
The race was absolutely brutal and around mile 18, I genuinely
questioned all my life choices.
My legs were short, my shoulders felt really tight,
and my brain kept telling me to quit, but I didn't. I just pushed through every mile somehow.
And when I crossed the finish line, I thought maybe someone had changed their mind. Maybe they'd
surprise me and show up last minute. But no, I stood there surrounded by people hugging their
families, taking selfies with friends and holding signs with their names on, but I was just there.
So I feel this weird sense of pride and sadness. Like I names on, but I was just there.
So I feel this weird sense of pride and sadness. Like I did it. I actually ran a marathon and
that should have been enough, but I guess I just wanted someone to witness it and not
to prove anything, but just to feel like it mattered to someone else too. I don't know
girls, should I bring this up? I just don't want people to think I'm being dramatic, but
I'm really upset by it. I'd be gutted. I'd be absolutely gutted.
I'm really sorry for you. I think I'm really sorry.
Yeah. There's this horrible thing on TikTok that I think people really laugh about. And it's this
thing saying, if you couldn't tell anyone you were doing a marathon, would you do it?
Yeah.
And I think it's very belittling that whole trend because actually you would hope people
would share their successes.
If someone gets a promotion, you usually do tell your close friends.
It's a big deal.
If someone does complete and get a new job or get a role, you do tell people.
So I think that's really sad because that is people really pushing themselves to a limit.
I'm really sad for you.
Yeah, I'm really sorry.
If I'm being honest, I think your friends and family have let you down.
Yeah.
Big time.
Yeah.
I think you're well, well within your right to say something. Playing devil's advocate,
I don't know whether there would be, I don't know your friends and family, so I don't know
the vibe. I wonder whether they experienced, oh, you know, that's all she's going on about
or talking about or-
Still, I would.
Which is still a real shame because I think it is something that's of a huge significance
to your life right now. And that is an excuse. That isn't an excuse, sorry. The other thing
is again, I don't know your friends or family. Is there some jealousy there?
Maybe.
I don't know. The jealousy is that they haven't been able to do a marathon or maybe that's
something they would like to do. And the third one,
maybe it's just a lack. It's just complete ignorance.
Yeah.
Because I think when people-
They didn't think it would be a big deal.
There are things that happen in my life that are a big deal. And there are people close
to me that show no interest at all.
Yeah, yeah.
And I have learned to feel that that's because their lack of knowledge towards the thing that is
big. Yeah, yeah. The ignorance actually. And it's not that they don't care. It's just that
they don't see it as a huge thing because they don't understand it. Yes, absolutely.
I wonder whether that could be a part. I think for your own peace of mind, you should say
something. Yeah. I don't think you need to go
to every single person.
No, but you owe it to yourself.
You're really close as people. For example, if I run a marathon, my mum and dad, Katie
Arch and my flatmate hadn't come nor sent me a message or shown it, I would be very
upset.
I'd be really upset.
If one of my Facebook friends I haven't spoken to in five years, I wouldn't give a shit. Yeah. But if those mom, dad, Lily, you, Arch, flatmate, if one
of those six people or this hadn't showed interest, I'd be quite disappointed. So I
think those ones that really mean something to you, I think you can really say something.
I absolutely agree. And just say, I felt a little bit left down. Like I'd really
love for you to have come along. Like it would have been nice to see you. Maybe it is ignorance
that they just aren't aware of like what physical undertaking is. I mean, she said that she's been
like all her social, like it takes over your life. It does. Yeah. Marathon training takes over your
life. Yeah, it does. Yeah. And it's a lot to motivate yourself to do by yourself. Like, yeah, where the people we know that have run marathons,
we're always being like, you've got this, like, come on, keep going. So to actually do that
completely by yourself, motivated by yourself takes a lot. So you should be very proud of yourself.
Absolutely. Katie's completely right. You should be. But I think you do need to honor yourself,
though, by saying, you know, I did feel a little bit down and
say maybe in the future, I would like some support and I would like someone to have turned
up. I'm really disappointed that your close friends and your family didn't. I think, and
I hope that is just an ignorance thing and a lack of understanding because I think if
they're not into fitness or they don into fitness or if they're not active,
they don't even know how long a marathon is or they don't even know how long that could
take. For example, I was listening to another podcast about someone saying marathon times
and they said they did it in three minutes, three or something, which is a brilliant time.
And the person interviewed them and
said, well, how long usually is a minute? Like, how does it take? You know, so it's
for them three hours, three minutes. Oh, that's very long. Like, God, that's not very, but
that is a brilliant time. So I don't think they understood that it could take four, five,
six hours. So I think, I hope it's just a lack of knowledge. Yeah. And that's me trying to think the best of the people in your life.
Yeah.
But I do think you owe it to yourself to say.
100%.
Going forward, I would really like for you to have shown an interest, like I would show
an interest in your goals.
Yeah, absolutely.
Yeah.
Oh, good luck, my love.
Okay, are we ready?
Yeah, ready. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Okay, are we ready?
Yeah, ready.
I've got one.
I've got one.
I'll ping pong you.
Okay, thank you.
I think this comes down to the 10 or 11 rave.
Oh yeah.
But when it comes to sports.
Yeah.
So say if I say to you, oh, I've just started doing, let's say what I know you're good at.
So you're very good at like Pilates, very good at bar work. Let's say I say, I've just started ballet.
And you go, Oh my God, I love ballet. And I said, I'm really good at ballet. I've actually
been doing ballet for the last like 10 years. I started ballet when I was really young.
And to be honest, my first teacher who said when I was in the tiny little tutu said it was actually a natural.
I just started.
I've just, I've literally just told you that. And then you think, you know, I saw this beautiful
TikTok of this girl who said, I have started ballet at the age of 25. She says, I've never
once had a dance lesson. My parents would not be the
parents to put me into creative activities like yours were and mine were. She said I
was in maths camp. She's American. She says I was in maths camp, I was in science camp.
I was never in anything creative. She's like at 25, I've started ballet. Oh, I love it. And I'm really enjoying, you know, come on, stop putting people, what you can do.
So girls, if you think, well, why is that wrong?
Or what you do then is show an interest.
Yeah.
Okay.
Because then you have a joint interest.
Yeah.
So if Katie came to me and said, she just started ballet and I've been doing ballet for years,
I'd say, oh my God, that's so exciting. Ask what part she's enjoying. Ask what bit she's been focusing on. Ask how
she, what's your favourite position for second, third, you know. Show a real interest. Don't
now say, well, I've been doing it for years, so you must be shit. You know, it don't demean
the person.
Honestly, on that, it's a slight sidetrack, but I love people that get into things at
a later age just for the sake of wanting to do something that fills their cup. Stuff like
ballet, any kind of hobby. I feel like we're not a society of hobbyists anymore.
And I think that comes from a need of needing to be the best at everything.
Very good at everything. Yeah, very good.
And I'm like, I would love, you know, take a leaf out of that book.
We're not a society of hobby.
Yeah, like I've said for ages that I really want to learn to row. I'd love to learn to
row. But actually where we live is quite competitive rowing wise, I thought. But like, I'd love
to take up a skill that I know I'm not good at. And that's
actually quite empowering because you're like, oh, this is something I can work at and get
better at, but I know I'm not the best. So I think I love that. I love that. Yeah. Yeah.
Ready?
Yeah. Mine is people who judge distance and time when running. Okay, I personally, yeah, I can run. I am a slow
runner. That's fine. I would say like, and I can't run more. I think the most I've ever run is like,
a 6k. Yeah, six and a half k. Still a long way guys.
Absolutely it is.
I think you see people and I think especially on TikTok and especially living in London,
people run so much for pleasure that it's like, oh I ran a half marathon this weekend
just cause and I'm like, go, go you. But if I'm like, oh yeah, I ran as well. How far
do you run 3k? Oh, it's still a run.
Yeah. But for them, they're like, well, you didn't really did you? You just, you did just
And I'm like, I hate that because especially when they're like, especially it's like, oh,
I ran a 5k. What time do you run it in? 40 minutes. So you walked.
Oh, it's a real shame actually.
I feel like it's really demeaning.
And that's the same with what you mean by needing to be the best at it. Yeah. I just saw again on TikTok someone saying, the best runners are the ones who don't check
their time because they're just enjoying it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Actually, the best runs I have done is when I don't look at the time.
Yeah.
Because I am just enjoying it.
Enjoying the vibes.
Completely.
Yeah.
I do get what you mean there.
Yeah, absolutely.
Are we ready?
Yeah.
Questions. Question.
Question.
I am serious.
And I'm silly.
Okay.
So my serious question is to you.
There are obviously the big marathons that have happened in the world.
So your mother has done quite a few of them, hasn't she?
She has.
She's done London.
She's done Paris.
She's done New York.
New York.
Berlin.
Berlin.
And she tried to do Tokyo, didn't she?
And it didn't work, but she did the Disney marathon.
Yeah, she did the Disney marathon.
She did the Disney marathon.
She did the Disney marathon.
She did the Disney marathon. She did the Disney marathon. She did the Disney marathon. She did the Disney marathon. She's done London, she's done Paris, she's done New York, Berlin. She tried to do Tokyo, didn't she?
And it didn't work, but she did the Disney marathon.
Yeah, she did the Disney.
So is that the big five?
Not Disney, but like it's usually, I swear.
London, Paris.
London, Paris, New York, Berlin, Tokyo.
I think Chicago is on that, but you obviously have to qualify for Chicago. I think
potentially Chicago and they've just added Sydney.
Wow. Okay. So out of those seven, what would you love to do if you had to really?
New York. Part of me feels like London maybe because it's on, you know, you're on home
soil. Like that'd be quite nice. But like, oh my God, the New York marathon, I would
love to do. I would love to do that. Yeah. But like, oh my god, the New York Marathon, I would love to do
sensational. Yeah, I would love to do that. Yeah, that would be that would be amazing.
American crowds seem so enthusiastic as well. Oh, for sure. They're giving it like, Yee-haw.
They're like, get a girl. You got a girl. You got a girl. I would love it. You would
love that. Yeah. And also get to New York. Absolutely. Which one would you want to?
I would love to go somewhere I haven't been. So New York would be amazing. I've never been there.
I think Tokyo would be incredible. Yeah. Although I have been to Paris, I would love to do Paris
because Paris is very flat. Yes. And beautiful. Yeah. Absolutely beautiful. Yeah. Do the Eiffel
Tower and it's for the Olympics. Oh, yeah. I would love to do that. Yeah. Absolutely beautiful. Yeah. Do the Eiffel Tower and it's for the Olympics. Oh, yeah.
I would love to do that.
Yeah.
Really, really.
Although I think I take London for granted because when I went to go support your mom,
I was thinking, oh my God, look at all these sites we have.
Yeah.
Westminster, we got the London Eye.
People travel.
It was just beautiful.
Honestly, it was, wasn't it?
Who knows?
Right.
What's your silly?
My silly question is, would you rather run a marathon? Yeah. F't it? Right. What's your silly? My silly question is would you rather
Marathon. Yeah fully nude. Yeah, or in a really fluffy onesie
Could I wear a sports bra with the onesie gonna say no. Oh
shit
Cuz that's the only thing I think I don't think I could do any running without a sports bra. Yeah
So that's why I was gonna gonna say I was saying to my friend earlier about how that runner on the Thames
was running naked.
Yeah.
And I said I could do it if I could have a sports bra, which is naked, but
so that's a very good question.
I would do fluffy onesie.
I'd hope it was very tight.
So it could keep them in place.
Keep them in.
Yeah.
Because I couldn't run anything.
Yeah.
I was walking back home today and tried to jog to get here on time and I was holding
the buzzy.
Oh, bless you.
No running without a sports bra ever.
Yeah, ever, ever.
Ever, ever, ever, ever.
How about you?
I think I'd have to go onesie but it would be fucking grim.
The chafe and the sweat.
The chafe and the sweat of a fluffy...
I wake up in the mid...
If I wore a onesie to bed, I wake up
fucking dripping sweaty butt crack sweaty butt crack and that's me sweaty guinea pig that's me
that's literally me like having been lying down completely doing niche doing niche so also
lying down completely doing niche doing this. So also can you imagine the smell? Not that it would be your least, it'd be the bottom of the priority list. It's that when people
do these marathons dressed as the bloody London Eye, I'd overheat, I'd overheat. I'm like,
they can't even see where they're going. I'm like, God, just get through it without having
to do all this. Yeah. Why put all the bells and whistles on? You've got a big enough challenge. It must be knackered. Yeah, honestly. Yeah, I can't. I don't know how people do that. No. Guys, I love you and we're done at the end of the pod. Have a gorgeous week. Have a gorgeous week. Oh, you know it. Have a good one guys. You know you are drunk aren't you? These are always here for you. Oh, big time. Big time. Love ya. See ya. Bye. Love you, bye!
