In today's video, the California governor's race had a second debate last night, and it was an absolute dumpster fire. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is facing a huge problem on our hands as a whistleblower has come out and exposed her for lying about the fires. And HECSeth testified on Capitol Hill today. But let's go to this debate, starting with Tom Steyer getting fact-checked by the moderator. Take a look. What I said was that we should have the ability to outsource everything.
Starting point is 00:00:57 because we're under the thumb of the oil companies who have been jacking up prices. And if you look at the price of gasoline in the state of California, it is up because of the war in Iran. And that war has driven up prices for everybody in California by about a buck 50. And the costs to the oil companies have not gone up a penny. That's $70 billion of profit to the oil companies because of a war started by Donald Trump. So, Mr. Steyer, to be specific, the folks at home, you can go to CBSNews.com slash CAGov and see what Mr. Steyer said. But you did, in fact, say that we should be outsourcing all refining. We should be able to do that because if we're going to get held up by the few refineries left in California, it's going to be necessary for us to have an alternative.
Starting point is 00:01:45 Sir, I'm going to just go ahead and fact check a little bit here. So what happens is our gas supply is priced at the most expensive barrel. And right now, the most expensive barrel is coming. in from overseas. And so gas prices in California are set at that level. Yes, refineries, yes, the oil companies are profiting more right now, but they're not the ones specifically, at least they say, they're not the ones specifically setting the price of gas. I'm not going to other colleagues chime in. And actually, I would love to go to Ms. Porter. Can I finish my thought? No, sir, because we should take back when it is your time. Sir, we're going to have to cut the mic
Starting point is 00:02:18 if you don't, if you're not respectful. So needless to say, this debate for the next governor of California was a total dumpster fire for the Democrat candidates, that is. And I'll explain to you why, just based on objective facts. I mean, two refineries by the name of Phillips 66 and Valero, both close and are moving out of the state. And they actually represented about 18% of the state's refining capacity. So what happens when you go from, let's just make the math simple, six refineries down to three, you outsource your gas from other countries overseas, you get high gas prices. And of course, these candidates can't admit that because it would contradict their whole statement
Starting point is 00:03:02 and what they're running on. And guys, California is a great example, but when you allow radicals to run a state and they've run it into the ground, and I appreciate the moderators here because they were very fair in my opinion. Let's go here. Mr. Mayhan, you brought this up. We're talking about gas prices. They're the highest in the nation.
Starting point is 00:03:21 here in California, and the gas tax is also the highest at around 61 cents per gallon. So this is that lightning round where you say yes or no, and then we'll get back to it later, but please give me a yes or no answer. Are you in favor of suspending the gas tax? We know that Mr. Mahan says yes. Javier Prossera says no. What do you say, Tony Thurman? Yes.
Starting point is 00:03:44 All right. Chad Bianco? Yes. Mr. Steyer. I want a windfall profits tax on the oil companies who've raised the tax by 100. $1.50 per gallon. All right, Mr. Steyer, that was a lot of nose there. Let's go to Mr. Hilton.
Starting point is 00:03:57 Mr. Hilton. Yes. Thank you very much, Ms. Porter. No. All right. Mr. B. Ibergoza. No. So what you just heard there are Democrat candidates refusing to suspend 61 cents per gallon?
Starting point is 00:04:11 Because that's exactly what the gas tax represents. But they, in the same breath, are claiming they're all about affordability. I just don't get it. maybe you can explain it to me. This is why we wanted to go over this story with you guys, because it's a great example of policies that are flawed. I keep sharing this playbook, which is Democrats have a bad habit, and really politicians overall, misdiagnosing a manufacturer problem, applying a solution that is based on flawed data. Then when the results turn to catastrophic or turn into catastrophic results, they gaslight you. That's exactly.
Starting point is 00:04:50 exactly what is happening here in this debate. And if they do win or one of them becomes the next governor, it's only going to get worse. The results cannot be denied at this point. When you have refineries leaving, it tells you everything. When you're refusing to lower the gas tax, that tells you everything. When you're sitting $1.30 and $30,000 above the national average as far as gas prices are concerned, you're going in the wrong direction. Let's go to our student question. Joining us now is Dante Gilbert from Pomona College with a question.
Starting point is 00:05:20 a lightning round question on immigration. Dante? Hello, my name is Dante Gilbert. I'm an American study student from St. Paul, Minnesota. So California is a sanctuary state, and yet states are limited in the way that can respond to federal ICE and customs and immigration. Sorry, ICE forces.
Starting point is 00:05:38 In Hennepin County, Minnesota, local law enforcement has begun to bring charges against ICE agents for assault. As governor, would you support district attorneys bringing such charges against federal agents? RBC Training Ground has discovered potential in over 20,000 Canadian athletes and counting. Your story could be next. If you've got the drive, they'll help you find your path to the Olympics.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Let's see what you've got. Sign up for free at rbc training ground.ca. This is a yes or no question. We're going to go down the line. Mr. Thurmond. Yes. Mr. Bianco? No.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Mr. Steyer? Yes. Mr. Hilton? No. Mr. Bacera? Absolutely. Ms. Porter? Yes.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Mr. Mayhem. Yes, if they violate the law. And Mr. Villargo. Two yeses. Yeah, it's a radical talking point. That's why they're saying yes, because they know it'll amp up the base so they can get votes when it comes to the idea of prosecuting ICE agents. As you guys know, that is a high bar. It's a standard that in most cases won't be met.
Starting point is 00:06:43 They do have a certain level of immunity, especially if they're doing their constitutional duty. They're on the job. And in most cases, that's exactly what's taking place. problem with Democrats, though, is they don't like the concept of ICE overall, but when you press them about, well, who's going to enforce immigration law, they can't tell you that. And in California, which is a clear sanctuary state, I would probably argue that it's going to be very difficult to prosecute an ICE agent only because the Supreme Court has already slapped down two different laws that the governor try to push in order to either handicap ICE agents from wearing masks or
Starting point is 00:07:20 prevent them from being able to exercise their constitutional duty. And so it's going nowhere. All right. One more for you here. Watch this. How do you help those who may be dealing with mental health and or drug addiction who repeatedly refuse service? You have 45 seconds.
Starting point is 00:07:37 So I passed, I worked on in Congress and passed a bill in the House called the Mental Health Justice Act. And one of the things it would do is create dedicated mental health responders in lieu of police. When someone has been unshubed. for a very long time and they have a serious mental illness or a serious substance use problem, it is very, very challenging to help them. What we've seen from the care court proposal that Governor Newsom rolled out is a big plan and very,
Starting point is 00:08:05 very low take-up. So we need to have stronger provisions that let those who are on our streets helping be able to get those people to help that they need. There are people who are too ill and unable to make decisions for themselves, but we have to balance that against the state's long history. an ugly history of incarcerating people for reasons that have nothing to do with either of those things, but track a long race. Before we get into it, I like to mention this video sponsor Free Cash. If you're looking for a way to put some extra money in your pocket, keep watching. Because Free Cash is a platform where you earn money by doing simple task, playing games, taking surveys, testing apps, and I mean actual money, not points at expire, earn cash, gift cards, or even crypto.
Starting point is 00:08:48 And the best part here is the setup is simple. You pick an offer, complete it, and the coins stack up as you go. There's something for everybody, and cash out starts at $25. And don't worry, with a 4.8 star rating on Trust Pilot and thousands of positive reviews, it checks out. Now, here's the bottom line for you. Sign up by visiting the link in the description below or scan the QR code that you see here on the screen to play your first game, and you get a $10 bonus automatically just for showing up. Again, scan the QR code or click in the description below.
Starting point is 00:09:22 It's simple. Go check it out. All right. Well, again, she sounds like Zoramandani, and their idea is to create another program in order to enforce another program, which costs the taxpayer more money and does the opposite thing that they claim that it will do. More mental health professionals on the streets are not going to prevent people from having mental health episodes.
Starting point is 00:09:42 It's not going to prevent crime. And by the way, I would argue it's California that's been weak on crime. Let's go to Karen Bass because she is being exposed for lying about the Pacific Palisades fire. The whistleblower has come out and exposed her for the liar that she is. Take a look. All right, new tonight, sharp disagreements over a recorded phone call involving Los Angeles mayor, Karen Bass, made just days before the Palisades fire. Now for the first time, the man who recorded it is speaking publicly as the mayor's team pushes back, calling his claims misinformation. Fox 11's Matthew Seedorf has both sides.
Starting point is 00:10:15 This is a recorded phone call viewed millions of times this last year, now gaining more views today with John Alley coming forward, disagreeing with the mayor over what this whole thing was about. Sharp disagreements over a recorded phone call involving L.A. Mayor Karen Bass just three days before the Palisades fire. All right. Now, before we go to that recording, let me lay the foundation for you guys. This story is so relevant because she's running for re-election. Spencer Pratt, her opponent, has definitely not, only gain the support of people culturally, but he has the momentum she doesn't have. And it's not looking good for her at this point because this recording proves that she lied, not only to the public, but essentially lied about how she was handling or prepared for this catastrophic event that took place with the Pacific Palisades fire.
Starting point is 00:11:07 So this guy was friends with her. He has now realized over time that she's a liar. She hasn't done the right thing for people who live in Los Angeles, and he's seeking to expose her at this point. So here's what he had to say. I knew I couldn't write that fast. So I recorded part of it for my own safety and for posterity. I had to do it. I want to make sure that you are safe and hopefully you can read in between the lines.
Starting point is 00:11:31 For the first time, John Allie is publicly identifying himself as the man who recorded that controversial call. If President Biden extends me an invitation, I took it. It's a president. This is not a, yes. Now coming forward weeks before the primary election. Why is this coming out now? I think people need to know they're still asking me why the call. What was my relationship with her?
Starting point is 00:11:55 As a business owner with dozens of properties across LA, Ali says he and the mayor used to talk regularly. I have a good sense of what's going on on the streets and she relied on me for that. He says he recorded about 90 seconds of this conversation. In terms of my trip, just. So you know, I'm missing two work days. Three days before the Palisades fired. She called me and told me she was boarding the termak. Yeah, I think at this point it's safe to say that it's really looking bad for her.
Starting point is 00:12:26 And she deserves it. I mean, you go out of country knowing what's coming, all right? It just isn't optically a good look, even if it didn't result in the catastrophic outcome that we saw with the Pacific Palace. And that's not the only fire, by the way. but even if that didn't happen and maybe it was minimal damage, the optics are still not good. And that's just one problem as far as Los Angeles County is concerned. We were just talking about it, whether it's homelessness, the cost of living, the cost of electricity. It's not a good look to live in Los Angeles County today.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Obviously, if you grew up there, you're probably not going to move. But if you're trying to find a nice place to live when it comes to California, Los Angeles County would be the last place you would be looking, in my opinion. And that also applies for up in San Francisco. Let's go. Those are just two locations you stay away from because it's too expensive. And what you're paying for as far as what you're getting is definitely an issue as well. But he goes on to explain why did he release this recording? Take a look. What was it about this phone call that made you want to start recording?
Starting point is 00:13:30 Her tone? When I am able to talk, I will be happy to go into great detail. According to the mayor's team, the phone call wasn't about fire danger, but about law enforcement. operations at MacArthur Park, saying the call was keeping constituents updated about important city matters. She's saying that this whole phone call was about law enforcement operations at MacArthur Park. It was about wind. I warned her of the winds. The mayor's staff calling that claim misinformation and a conspiracy, adding exploiting people's loss in the palisades is disgusting and it's a distraction from the recovery and rebuilding. It was fire and wind was part of the conversation.
Starting point is 00:14:08 There's no conspiracy. No one's, I'm not, I lost as much as anybody in terms of property and life. So bottom line here is hats off to that man for doing the right thing that is exposing politicians for lying to the people, especially when their lives depend on it. So there's that. And then the re-election campaign, which isn't going to look good for Karen Bass, listen, I understand that potentially another Democrat will become the. mayor of Los Angeles. I have actually no beef with Democrats. My main beef overall politically is with progressives. People who have this Marxism mentality, which is exactly who Karen Bass is. I don't believe they should be running anything because when they do run things, they run them
Starting point is 00:14:55 into the ground because their policies do the opposite of what they want people to believe. And as I continue to say, she doesn't face any consequences is the people Los Angeles who will face the consequences of her decision-making. All right, let's go to our next story. The Secretary of Defense, Pete Hexseth and General Kane, are testifying on Capitol Hill today. This is in regards to Iran. What is the status?
Starting point is 00:15:19 Where is this going? And of course, Democrats aren't really focused on those questions. They're more focused on, and I'm sure you know exactly what's coming, a soundbite. But let's go to this next clip that summarizes exactly what's taking place right now. Take a look. Defense Secretary Pete Heggseth is about to face a gauntlet. He, along with the Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Dan Kane, will testify before Congress for the first time since the war with Iran began. And House lawmakers, they are expected to have a lot of questions about the war, its end goals, the firing of top military officials in the midst of it,
Starting point is 00:15:54 and the Trump administration's request for $1.5 trillion in new defense spending, which is a massive increase. And helping to set the stage, it appears as President Trump, up early and posting on social media this morning with a message for Iran. No more Mr. Nice Guy. Okay, so let's lay the groundwork here to understand why this hearing is huge. One, this is the first public hearing from Hexap since this whole thing in Iran kicked off. Secondly, it's Democrats' way of continuing to make the case that the president in this administration is doing the opposite of what he promised, which was no new wars. They also want to hold Hexat the Cannibal.
Starting point is 00:16:36 I mean, they're up to six different articles of impeachment that have been filed against Hexeth, but none of them have, none of them have reached any level of success. And so this hearing is to hash out a lot of these questions regarding Iran, and Democrats are hoping to come out on top. So why don't we go to the first clip here? And this is in regards to essentially Rokana, claiming that Hexeth and the president's stab MAGA voters in the back. Take a look. Because you said you wouldn't get us into bad wars.
Starting point is 00:17:06 You said you wouldn't, you would bring down the prices. You know what I'm sad for? I'm sad for all the people who voted for Trump. I'm sad for them because you betrayed them. You've betrayed a lot of that MAGA base. And you know who knows that? J.D. Vance knows that. That's why. That's why I'm expired.
Starting point is 00:17:21 So you're not recognized this gentleman from Nebraska, Mr. Bacon. Thank you, Mr. Chairman. See, this is another example, why I'm so critical of the Democrat Party. It's because when they do go to criticize the president, they're using the wrong arguments. To go out there and say that the president has betrayed MAGA voters and MAGA voters are no longer supporting the president is just straight up false. I mean, the latest poll was a 90% approval rating regarding his actions in Iran from voters who identify as MAGA. But they make the wrong argument. The argument they should be making is about independent and moderate Republicans.
Starting point is 00:17:57 You go look at that poll and it's a disaster for the president. So it's just interesting how Democrats, they don't even know how to argue against the president. It's really fascinating. So why don't I go to that poll just so you know I'm not blowing smoke? Here is that poll from earlier today. Take a look. Look at this. On cost of living country is on the wrong track or right track.
Starting point is 00:18:18 Look at this. Among independents, 75% say the wrong track, just 9% say the right track. Look among Republicans. The plurality of Republicans say that the country is on the wrong track when it comes to the cost of living versus just 39%. Donald Trump has lost every single part of this electorate. And when you take his name out of the equation, you'll see even the plurality of Republicans say that the country is on the wrong track when it comes to the life. Okay, let's understand where we're at. It's 60 days at this point.
Starting point is 00:18:49 And now it's going to become a serious problem politically for the president. That's exactly where we are with Iran. I've warned you guys repeatedly that the longer this goes on, especially if it passes 60 days, the president's going to face some issues. There's no doubt about it. Now, if you are a part of the MAGA base and that's what you identify as, you're right or die. You're going to support the president without any hesitation. If you go outside that base, you're not going to find that, okay?
Starting point is 00:19:14 People are absolutely souring on this administration because the timing is terrible. When you go into a country like Iran during tax season and then gas prices, prices go up, not everybody's going to be able to feel like the economy's working for them, not in the way that the president wants. And so this is a total detour. This doesn't mean that I believe that he stabbed people in the back. I don't believe that. I believe that he must have made a righteous decision or decision based on intelligence that I don't have access to. Or for the conspiracy theories out there online, maybe NetNahu put a gun to his head and made him do this. It doesn't really matter why he did this. What matters is, where do we go from here?
Starting point is 00:19:55 And that's the whole point of the hearing is to figure that out. But unfortunately, I don't think Democrats were successful in getting to that answer because they were too busy trying to argue with hexats. So let's go to this next clip showing you that. What are we going to do now? President Trump has been clear-eyed from the killing of Qasem Soleimani to the pulling out of the Iran deal to midnight hammer. And now to this effort to recognize that you have to stare down this kind of enemy who's hell bent on getting a nuclear weapon and get them to a point where they're at the table giving it up.
Starting point is 00:20:25 in a way that they haven't have it. So they haven't broken yet. Okay, we haven't gotten there yet for all of the... Well, their nuclear facilities have been obliterated. Underground, they're buried and we're watching them 24-7. So we know where any nuclear material... We're climbing my time for a quick second here. We had to start this war, you just said, 60 days ago,
Starting point is 00:20:47 because the nuclear weapon was an imminent threat. Now you're saying that it was completely obliterated? They had not given up their nuclear ambitions, and they had a conventional shield of thousands of the weakest moment. Nothing of substance. It left us at exactly the same place we were before. Listen, the bottom line as it pertains to Iran is for you to make up your own mind here. This is an issue that I don't like telling people what they should support or not support.
Starting point is 00:21:17 This is an issue where you do your own research and what I would implore you to do is listen to Democrats speak about the country of Iran. go back 20 years ago and then work your way all the way up to the present moment, you would find that what the president has done here is exactly what Democrats had been promising to do for decades. The problem is it's Donald Trump's name on this now. So they have to disagree with it no matter what, even though they may have access to intelligence that mean you don't, that supports the decision to do this, maybe. But they still will disagree no matter what.
Starting point is 00:21:52 And by the way, we have to understand this as well. the president wasn't actually going to do this. It only happened at the very last moment, last week of February, over 48-hour period, reported by the New York Times, where intelligence showed that the Supreme Leader and other top-ranking members were all going to meet in one public location. So do you pull the trigger and wipe them up the face of the earth, or do you not? Well, I think that is a decision only the president can make, right? And he made it. Let's go here.
Starting point is 00:22:19 Do you think Congress was smart or feckless? When it failed to ask, talk about it? question to the Bush administration and gave them a blank check for a rock. Well, if you're trying to compare this war to the Iraq war, which the president is the first one to call a stupid war, then it's a false comparison. Okay, well, probably a good idea to ask tough questions.
Starting point is 00:23:39 So let me just ask you a few questions. Did you advise the president that we should attack Iran? We were, first of all, in this position, in the cabinet, we never talk about what we would advise the president to do or not. You think the president or you deserve more... I've been in every meeting. I understand that, Mr. Secretary. The chairman and everybody else says those pretty decisions were made,
Starting point is 00:23:57 and he got every perspective possible when it came to. I'm just asking what your perspective is. Are you afraid to take ownership of this? Do you think it was a good idea or not? My, when I, as I have consulted the president, do I think it's a good idea to confront a nuclear bomb? To start this war. Imagine what the world would look like right now if Iran had a nuclear weapon.
Starting point is 00:24:15 Okay, so let's just, just imagine. Which, by the way, every other, every previous administration, including the first Trump administration, They had one. They had one. Prevented them from having a nuclear weapon. So listen, how is this war going? Do you think we're winning?
Starting point is 00:24:26 Militarily on the battlefield, it's been an astounding military success. But are we winning the war? Absolutely. Okay, so do you call Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz winning? Well, I would say the blockade that we hold that doesn't allow anything to come in or out of Iranian ports, which is always in our portfolio to use. So we've blockaded their blockade. And then we blockaded their blockade.
Starting point is 00:24:48 That's like saying tag, you're right? saying tag you're it or you know if president madison has said well the british just burned down washington but don't worry we're going to burn it down as well all right as i've said previously democrats are making the wrong arguments um and there's no doubt that we're at 60 days and as i said earlier it's going to be very hard for this administration to continue to defend this because american people are impatient they're also uh hypocrites and have amnesia okay i i asked you guys this question, I think it was last week, which in regards to responding to Tucker's statement that he misled his audience, what's the alternative here, folks? That's question number one. And question
Starting point is 00:25:27 number two, what's worse? What the president has done up to this point in his administration, including Iran, or what we experience under the Biden administration? Which one do you think is the worst for our country and particularly people sitting at their kitchen table? I'll let you answer that. But what you guys can see here on the screen is the current crude oil price, which has jumped up again. It's now up to 107 as I'm talking at this point. The highest it's been was 114. As you heard, or you may not have actually heard, the president plans to extend this blockade and extend this ceasefire. So even though we're at 60 days, this seems to not be close to being over just yet. So having said that, give me your reaction in the comments section below.
Starting point is 00:26:15 to the debate for the individuals running for California governor. It was such a dumpster fire, especially on the Democrat side. Give me your thoughts about Hexseth and his testimony, or his testimony on Capitol Hill today, and Karen Bass and the trouble that she is facing. Give me everything you got in the comment section below.
