So we have some breaking news. The police chief of Seattle has been fired by the mayor. This comes as he was absent during the mass shooting that took place over the weekend. But now there's one problem. The black voters, the black people of Seattle are rising up and actually calling out the mayor for this firing and pushing back. Let's hear more about what's going on here. Take a listen. Breaking news, Seattle Police Chief Sean Barnes released from his position by Mayor Katie Wilson. Fox 13 can now confirm the reports through five different sources. sources telling Fox 13 Barnes began texting several people this evening discussing his dismissal. Barnes had been scheduled to conduct one-on-one interviews with Seattle Media Wednesday afternoon,

but those interviews were abruptly canceled. Fox 13 captured Barnes at the silent vigil held tonight for the bite of Seattle shooting victims at the Seattle Center around 6.30. Barnes placed flowers at the scene before leaving abruptly. sources telling Fox 13, he had a meeting with the mayor after the vigil. So the problem with the police chief is he broke the cardinal sin, in my opinion, or committed one that you don't do as a leader. Meaning when your troops need you the most, you should be there. And he wasn't there. And there's no excuse in the book excluding he was in the hospital or something of that nature or his wife was in the, you know, things like that are understandable.

But that's not what he was doing. He was at an award show in another state in regards to DEI, according to what some people had to say. So this is a good move. And there was already complaints about him not being present in so many other situations before this shooting. I mean, he was gone most of the time. That's why when the reporter confronted him over it, he blew up. And that's not what a good leader does. A good leader should stay poised, especially when pressure comes.

Here's more of what happened. On Sunday night, the Seattle Police Department and city officials face criticism. after waiting several hours to hold a news conference about the bite of Seattle shooting. Five hours after the shooting, officials finally provided an update with Assistant Chief Tyrone Davis in attendance, but Chief Sean Barnes did not attend. On Monday morning, Barnes was present at a second bite of Seattle shooting investigation news conference with Mayor Katie Wilson. He told media outlets he was out of town Sunday attending the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives Conference, hosted in Dallas. After Monday morning's press conference, video captured a confrontation between

Barnes and a reporter. Barnes was appointed chief by former mayor Bruce Harrell in December of 2024. He previously served as chief of police in Madison, Wisconsin. He has more than 25 years of experience in law enforcement. So now they find themselves where they are. They need a new leader, a new police chief. We'll see what happens there. But guys, the people of Seattle voted for this in my opinion, okay? They took their chance on someone who lived at home with their parents, who has zero leadership experience whatsoever and doesn't know how to manage crisis. I mean, so this is just one of those dominoes dropping.

This is similar to what Karen Bass did to her fire police chief or excuse me, her fire chief, where she was fired. Okay, but did Karen Bass ever get held accountable? No. Now, here's the other interesting thing about this update. you have people actually advocating for the police chief to stay on. They don't want him fired. And you know what the reason is?

Because he's black. Listen to this. We have not heard whether Barnes will still be doing that interview. But a coalition of Seattle black community organizations are holding a rally to support Barnes at 8 o'clock in City Hall this morning. Among those who say they are supporting him is the Seattle medium. They're asking Mayor Katie Wilson to not fire Barnes, saying in part, Seattle is entering a period with major events and increased demands on public safety. This is the time to strengthen leadership, not create disruption. We need experience leadership, coordination, and stability as our city prepares for what is ahead. Now, let's just think

about this for a second. So the police chief who wasn't there, he wasn't present, who already had complaints against them because he's never really present. They're complaining that he's getting fired and he needs to stay on because of his skin color. This is insanity. Now, that rally that they said that they were hosting this morning did happen. And guess what? Things did get a little heated. Let me show you it. Concerns about this confrontation with a reporter as well and you acknowledge that the chief made some mistakes. Do you believe he should at least be reprimanded maybe? No, no, because you all have to tell you, you're in everyone's face. Come on, if you want us to

toughen up on this side, you toughen up on that side. He has so he got in your face. You got his face. Come on, stop being, you know. We'll have to, I don't want to speak for the entire community. We have a lot of the leaders. You can. I give you permission. of a lot of leaders in this community, but I assure you you will hear from us in an exponential fashion. We in the after men, look, man, I'm well read in my history, and we're just not taking this stuff anymore. That day is over. I know the slave master is still alive in people's minds, but there's a lot of us who know better.

This is why the black community or this part of black culture gets a bad rap. They refuse to hold their own accountable. I'm telling you, this is what's broken in American society. when we can't hold each other accountable, particularly within our own communities, we're no better than the thing we say we are against. Now, these black leaders in Seattle, they wasted no time slamming the mayor. They say she has no experience. And how did she get elected exactly?

Well, I think we know how that happened. Anyways, things get worse because the reporter asked a very important question here. Take a listen. So we're going to rally big time, let the mayor know that this was not a great decision if she sustains it and that we are going to do all we can to make sure that she gets if she gets another person it's got to be the right person it's got i think it needs to be another person of color for sure but we don't know exactly what we'll do right now because we're hoping that she reconsidered so i can't really answer that in fairness to the mayor isn't the deputy mayor

half korean half black look uh-uh i excuse you're not so that's a pretty high-ranking official i just we're not doing we not doing this no no no we're not doing it you and what you ask them you asking these biased questions? That's a biased question. I'm just asking the truth. You're a grounds game, too. I don't understand. He's a person in a color.

Did you see how the guy ran down the stairs like what? You were going to knock him out or something like? And then he put his hands on him. Good thing. He's a reporter who's not looking for a fight. But it's crazy how arrogant they are. It's a legitimate question. You say that she's firing the mayor when she really shouldn't be because he's black.

And that is some type of oppression. and white supremacy all over again. But then when the reporter says, well, isn't the deputy mayor half black half Korean? They lose it. It's a legitimate question in my opinion. But anyways, this is a total disaster for Seattle. But this is what they deserve. Sources also are confirming to Cairo 7 this morning that the next appointment,

the person taking this chief position will be assistant chief Tyrone Davis. He's been with the department since 1999. it's not clear if this is going to be as an interim chief position or if it's going to be the permanent spot for him. But we're, of course, working to find out all of the answers to all these questions for you. Here's a question I have for everybody that's watching at this point. Do you believe your police chief that you currently have right now that his or her family should be living in another state? And because they live in another state, it actually requires a police chief to be gone often. Do you think that is the right thing? Do you think that's the

type of police chief that you would want running your city? I'd like to think the answer is no, but that's the problem with police chief or former police chief Barnes here. I mean, his family lives in Chicago of all places. So, I mean, does he really have time to be in Seattle? Well, I guess if you ask the sheriff of King County or the former sheriff that is, he doesn't see it as a problem. Barnes rent an apartment in Seattle. His wife and kids live full time in Chicago. Barnes says he was at a law enforcement conference in Dallas during the shooting. The whole thing about where Chief Barnes was the night of the shooting is a red herring as far as I'm concerned. He didn't happen to be there. It was a weekend.

It's a big department. He's got good people that worked for him that can take over, the acting chief that come in and do what needs to be done. And it was great police work. I talked to former King County Sheriff and King 5 Law Enforcement analyst John Urquhart after Barnes office canceled our interview, citing the need to focus on the case and to attend the vigil for the victims. In response to criticism, his staff said Barnes has traveled to Chicago four times this year, most recently for four days in early July. They added, he lives in Seattle. But Urquhart, who also spent years as a spokesman for the sheriff's office, suggests that misses the real question. Woody Allen once said 80% of success is showing up. And that's a big deal. It is important.

It is important to be around. If for no other reason, then perception, he says. And now Urquhart believes the department has to mend fences with both media and the public. People have confidence, need to have confidence in their police department and therefore their chief. As regards to this breaking news update today is that your police chief should be present. As you heard, showing up is like the number one priority at all times in regards to success. And I don't think his family really appreciates him only visiting them four times out of this entire year so far.

I mean, that's insanity. Why doesn't the family live in Seattle? I don't know. I'm not in his business like that, but if I was the mayor, I wouldn't want a police chief that's in a position like that. I just think that's too much pressure. But anyways, this is what Seattle gets. I don't even think police chief is really the problem here. I think the mayor is the problem.

She's incompetent. She has no leadership skills or experience whatsoever. She did not respond accordingly. She blamed other people for what happened here. And then in the end, they gaslight everybody. and say, yeah, this was a great response. I wonder if the people of Seattle truly believe that. Something tells me.
