Byron Donald's has won his GOP primary. in order to run in the general election for the next governor of Florida. As you guys know, we did interview him.
Starting point is 00:01:06 So this was expected, but you got to hear what his opponent had to say about all of this. Take a listen. Obviously, we're not making a call here yet. Right now, though, it's looking good for you. You've got an overwhelming majority of the votes that are in so far. So how confident do you feel? If the election were tonight, we would win the general election in Florida. As a Democratic candidate, sure, I think I'm a strong candidate building a coalition.
Starting point is 00:01:29 But Aaron, this cycle is presenting an opportunity where voters, are just screaming for change. I do think there's a new coalition emerging in American politics. We're seeing it in Florida. It's rooted not so much in party, but in the basic everyday majority that believes that the economy should work for everybody, that government should fill in the gap where the private sector can't deliver on housing,
Starting point is 00:01:50 health care, education, clean air, clean water, and that, yes, we should be a place where everyone's rights are protected and their dignity respected. That doesn't have to be an ambitious progressive agenda. You mentioned I'm a former Republican. Some of my roots are in less government libertarianism. I spent five years, six years maybe as an independent, really just tackling big problems that
Starting point is 00:02:09 needed big solutions. I'm telling you if the election were tonight in Florida, Florida's voters would elect a Democratic governor for the first time in 30 years. Well, I'd like to have what he is smoking because he has no idea what he's talking about. And this is the game that has played through the media and online. People essentially tell you what they want the truth to be, even if that's not the actual truth. And I'm going to tell you what the truth is.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Florida is super red. They're not going to vote for a guy like David Jolly, not in this type of climate. Ron DeSantis has done such a great job. Why would voters vote for a Democrat now at this point? That makes no sense whatsoever. I mean, I don't even have to be from Florida to know that. And just one policy as an example on why it wouldn't happen
Starting point is 00:02:49 is David Jolly is for men playing in women sports. What are we talking about? I mean, this is a guy who's an ex-Republican. I think that tells you everything you need to know. Let's hear from what's happening with Byron Donald's tonight. Take a look. But with the AP projecting that Byron Donald's has won the Republican gubernatorial race here in Florida for a general election that it's going to be about two and a half months in the making here, he did receive the endorsement of Donald Trump.
Starting point is 00:03:15 He is somebody who has once floated as a potential speaker of the House. He's also an election in Ireland who voted to overturn and object to the 2020 election results, one of his first major actions upon entering Congress in 2021. He faced a crowded Republican field, including James Fishback. We could spend a long time tonight about the offensive racist comments he's made during this primary campaign, including calling Donalds, who would be Florida's first black governor, quote, a slave to donors and a DEI Republican. Despite those appeals to MAGA identity politics, he didn't win the nomination.
Starting point is 00:03:49 But we wanted to see what ultimately the share of his vote here tonight would look like. Now, I got to interview James Fishback. He is a conservative, by the way. He's not a stupid person either. I just don't think the attacks that he had on Byron Donald's was going to work. And what they say in politics, sometimes it ain't your time.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Byron Donald's got the endorsement of the president. That pretty much was the nail in the coffin for any challenger. And James Fishback actually came a little too late to the table, in my opinion. And by the way, he speaks to President Trump, too. So it's not as if he's some stranger. But the focus should be moving forward
Starting point is 00:04:27 is hopefully that they could both unify and there's a united front in Florida because the last thing that needs to happen is someone like David Jolly thinking that he has a chance to win. I just don't think he does. Now, I do want to go to just how MSDNC
Starting point is 00:04:43 decided to react to this win by Byron Donald's. Notice their rhetoric. Enough. I mean, it'd be kind of amazing if he wins with more than 50% of the vote. Byron Donald's, as you said, election denier, very MAGA guy, was in the front running a front run as the speaker
Starting point is 00:04:59 before Mike Johnson won. Remember there were all those votes about that. So Byron Donald is going to be the Republican candidate for governor. David... Okay, just a couple of things. Election denier, MAGA this. You know, it's so funny how they just label people in the media, right?
Starting point is 00:05:15 And then as you guys notice, they're going to start calling David Jolly an ex-Republican. And the reason why they're going to use that term because they think his image will benefit from that label. But I don't think people of Florida are going to buy by that. I don't think they're stupid. I think it would be malpractice on the job if they actually voted David Jolly to be the next governor. And I think that's as clear as day. We've been criss-crossing
Starting point is 00:05:38 Florida. We've been knocking hundreds of thousands of doors, taking our message to all Floridians. And tonight, because of your sweat, because of your hard work, we have won a massive victory. Two and five Canadians will hear the words you have cancer. That's why every step and dollar raised matters. On September 19th, join thousands in Toronto for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation Walk. Now we've just come through a hard fought primary. I got a call from Paul Renner and James Fishback tonight. And they, hold on, I'm going to tell you why in a moment. And they congratulated me and all of us on a hard fought victory. And my conversation with both of them is very simple.
Starting point is 00:07:34 Congratulations. Let's go beat David Jolly. You see, because individual opinions and passionate supporters are the beauty of our conservative movement. But tonight, the primary is over. Tonight, we put aside our differences. Tonight, we are one united Republican party. You know, that last statement really reminds of how grateful I am if you're still watching
Starting point is 00:08:07 this show today. Because it's tough out there. What do I mean by that? let's just call it what it is. Since February 28th, most Americans have checked out politically. They don't want to hear the same stuff every single day. They don't want to hear about Iran. They don't want to hear about, you know, Congress. They're done at this point. I like to believe they will check back in sooner or later, hopefully for the midterms. But if you're so watching, I appreciate it. And the reason why I say that is because on the Republican side, we're not actually unified.
Starting point is 00:08:37 That's what happens when the party wins the presidency and has a super majority. We get a little complacent. Too much diversification of thought leads to infighting and people not being on the same page anymore. See, for the Democrats, they're unified around one message. That is anti-Trump. They're definitely unified on that. Tell me the one unifying message that the Republican Party across the entire spectrum on the right, we are unified around. It's tough. It's tough. All right. I guess let me give you a silver lining if you're looking for something positive. the Democratic Socialists went one for two, meaning they lost two of their elections tonight, which is great news. Take a look. Hey, Jesse.
Starting point is 00:09:18 Well, that socialist test failed here in Florida for the congressional primary. The establishment Democrats won. DSA backed Oliver Larkin. He will not advance. Voters really didn't take to his far-left ideology. So he ran on things like abolishing ICE, free college tuition, ending aid to Israel. He was not able to be the two-term incumbent. Jared Moskowitz, who ran as a pro-Israel moderate.
Starting point is 00:09:44 Now Larkin, he tried to get that younger Gen Z millennial crowd, but couldn't push through the affluent, heavily Jewish 25th district here where Israel was a central issue in this race. So looking at those numbers, it was more than a 10,000 vote difference. Moskowitz, who didn't spend much time campaigning and remained confident through the race, he just took to social media, going to X moments ago, simply writing, my condolences to Hassan Piker. Hiker being the far-left controversial socialist commentator, somewhat of a mouthpiece he's been for the DSA.
Starting point is 00:10:16 Now, Jesse, another race called the newly drawn 20th congressional district, former DNC chair and congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the 11-term Democrat beat out, self-described Democrat socialist Elijah Manley, who came in the, who came in third with just over 7,000 votes. He's came on Fox News, so we've heard some of his positions. And Jesse, not really surprising. we just heard from Byron Donald's. He secured that Republican nomination and Senator Ashley Moody. She will also advance in that U.S. Senate race. Now, Elijah was the gentleman that we had reacted to who told Rom Emanuel to essentially be quiet. He doesn't know what he's talking about. And the DSA should be leading that party. Well, as you guys just heard, he lost. So that's good news. Okay. At least in Florida, people are not sipping the Kool-Aid, as they say.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Let's go to Kevin McCarthy, the former Speaker of the House. Here's what he had to say about Corey Mills being voted out. We're now hearing that Corey Mills, incumbent Republican congressman, has lost. They're calling it for his opponent, so he will no longer be in the House of Representatives. What happened there? Look, that's a lot of ethic issues. And had he won, that seat could have been in jeopardy for Republicans. So it's probably a good thing for the Republican Party to hold onto that seat.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Now, it would have been harder to hold had he kept the majority. And Trump did not endorse Mills. He did. He just didn't go out and campaign hard. But Trump endorsed Byron Donald's big time. Look, this is the Republican Party moving in the right direction. Think what Byron has been able to do and now is good. He's the first black elected Republican, our first black elected governor is a Republican.
Starting point is 00:11:59 Exactly the party of Lincoln. Democrats have won people before. They couldn't win. This says a lot about this state, but it all says a lot about the ability of Byron. Yeah, I hope Florida continues to be a model for what the country could look towards. I mean, if you just look at their elections, their emergency management, not saying it's all perfect, but it's definitely better than what I've ever experienced, especially being someone who's from California, where the governor claims that California is the model for the rest of the country, which we all know that is so far from the truth. And I hope that Byron Donald's steps in and can definitely exceed the standard. I think he's doing something that's very different. It's one thing to come behind Gavin Newsom, but he's coming behind Ron DeSantis. I mean, that's tough. And I asked him about that question, which I will play the clip for you now.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Take a look. I mean, look, it's a big job with big shoes to fill. I mean, Ron DeSantis has done a great job, and he's been a great governor. But I think you also have to look at the lineage in Florida. It's been under Republican control for more than 25 years. And what you've seen is a state that's gone from our purple state. about 8 million people in population to now 23 and a half million people in population and the preeminent state in all of America.
Starting point is 00:13:17 So it's really about building on the success of Governor DeSantis and even Governor Scott before him while preparing Florida for its future. How are we going to make sure kids are getting a world-class K-12 education system that gives them a best education possible while also making sure that they have multiple pathways for success? not everybody's going to college and that's okay. They could also get an apprenticeship or an internship, get the skills they need to hit the ground running when they graduate high school. So it was really about building on the success of Ron DeSantis. He's done a tremendous job. I want to be able to pick his brain as we continue to tackle these issues about keeping Florida
Starting point is 00:13:56 the very best in all of America. Yeah. If you guys want to check out that full interview, we'll link it below this video in the comment section. Guys, I just want to say congratulations to Byron Donald's. He's always been nice to me. That was the second time I was able to interview him. And a good day for Florida overall. And let's hope the rest of the country follows in the same footsteps as Florida. Is that fair to say? You guys share your thoughts below in regards to this big announcement.
