Starting point is 00:00:00 So this has to be the final blow for Democrats out of the state of Virginia. The Supreme Court just rejected their emergency appeal that would have overturned the state Supreme Court regarding the redistricting referendum. And also Kathy Hockel's in the news for the wrong reasons, once again. Long Island Railroad Company has now gone on strike and she's blaming Trump. Let's start with this ruling from the Supreme Court yesterday and the fallout. The U.S. Supreme Court will not be getting involved in the redistricting issue here in Virginia. Good evening. I'm Mitch Carr.
Starting point is 00:00:30 I'm Kay Capadano. The emergency appeal from Virginia Democrats to redraw the Commonwealth's congressional district map has been denied by the U.S. Supreme Court. Let's get you up to speed now. In April, voters approved this map, giving Democrats the potential to pick up 10 seats in Congress. However, state Republicans filed a lawsuit claiming the special election was unconstitutional. Last week, the Virginia Supreme Court agreed in its ruling. Democrats then filed an emergency appeal with a U.S.
Starting point is 00:00:58 U.S. Supreme Court in an attempt to approve the new map. And that brings us to today when the U.S. Supreme Court denied that appeal. That means Virginia will keep its current congressional map in the upcoming midterm election. Okay. So needless to say, this is, again, the final blow to the Democrats out of the state of Virginia, who they've had a tough month to say the least. And here's what's going to happen as a reaction. Some of it has already been occurring, particularly from Senator Cory Booker, you will hear more Democrats come out publicly and unapologetically call for changes to the Supreme Court. They will either want to see them retire, implement term limits, or pack the court because they don't agree with these rulings. It sounds like a kid who's throwing a tantrum
Starting point is 00:01:46 instead of expecting or accepting the ruling for what it is. And it's very simple. Why would the federal Supreme Court get in the middle of a state Supreme Court? Those are two different jobs to different functions. All right, let's hear what Abigail Scamberger had to say in response. Governor Abigail Spanberger took to social media after the news broke. She said in part, quote, the Supreme Court of the United States has now joined the Supreme Court of Virginia in choosing to nullify an election and the votes of more than three million Virginians. And quote, she then emphasized voting in the upcoming midterm elections. And we are hearing from other local lawmakers regarding this ruling. Republican state senator David Suterline released a state.
Starting point is 00:02:27 statement, he also said in part, quote, after months of distraction, hopefully the General Assembly will finally get to work on delivering the 60-plus day late Virginia budget and fund public schools, fund law enforcement, and give tax relief to working Virginians. Now, the interesting part about it is that the Republicans of that state, they're focused on doing the opposite of what the governor's been doing. Remember, she wants to raise taxes on literally everything. She's gone after Second Amendment. She's banned assault weapons, as they call them, and large capacity magazines. I mean, she's doing California, but in Virginia, if that makes sense. And the crazy part about it is Virginians, all they are really looking for is economic freedom. Just leave us alone. I mean, that's literally what most people
Starting point is 00:03:14 in America want from the government. Leave us alone. Don't jack it up. Don't jack up prices either. Don't make soft on crime policies. Protect this when you can. I mean, these are basic things for representative. Now, let's go to this clip on CNN from earlier today, and I think this is a good one. So this black woman who is a Republican, I think she explains exactly what the problem here is, and in particularly the rhetoric that we keep hearing from the Democrat Party and why it's wrong. It's okay. Everyone has the right to express their feelings. Everyone has a right to share their point of view. I'm particularly grateful that you have me here because the black conservative conversation around this is a little different.
Starting point is 00:03:56 When we talk about representation, what do we mean by representation? Do we mean we want someone that looks like us, or does that mean that we want someone who's a Democrat? Either way, both of those things kind of isolate us, because we're not looking for someone who looks like us. We're looking for someone who will represent us
Starting point is 00:04:12 and represent us well and has our values. Outside of that, if it's about Democrats, then we have another problem. The problem is that now the black conservatives have moved from 9% to 12% now we're at 16%. And that means that we're scattered throughout the state. So when you throw me
Starting point is 00:04:30 into a minority district that's predominantly Democrat, I'm not being represented well. I'm being forced to have to choose elected official that does not represent my values. So I think what they're doing is creating real diversity. And I'm happy about it. And just to add on here,
Starting point is 00:04:48 the real solution, and we brought this up a few times on the show, but she actually articulated it much better than I ever had, which is we need to use the census, and that should be the only thing we use to draw congressional maps. No matter what someone looks like, no matter their religious faith, their political affiliation, just use the census because that tells you where people live, the amount of people who live in that area, and draw the districts based on that. Now, in a perfect world, that's exactly what would happen. But we live in a time where we have become so partisan and so tribal, everything is on the table at this point, including celebrities.
Starting point is 00:05:23 demanding athletes, particularly at the college level, to boycott their games, meaning their future, by the way, to push back on this redistricting effort. And it comes from none other than the most racist or race hustler person on the internet, in my opinion, out of these celebrities, D.L. Hugley. Here's what he said. I don't understand why an athlete would go to a school where the state is ushering in a new iteration of Jim Pearl. mothers and fathers of those athletes. Because if you're a four or five-thought athlete,
Starting point is 00:05:56 you can get NIL money anyway. You don't need to go there. If it was up to the southern states, they would still be having slave labor, which is what they used athletics for. If athletes stopped going to the Tennessee's and Louisiana at the top-tier athletes, ESPN and presidents of schools,
Starting point is 00:06:09 chambers of conists, would start having conversation. And this is the other step that they take when they want to throw tantrums. Besides calling for changes to the people who are elected, like the Supreme Court, and wanting to pack the court and implement term limits,
Starting point is 00:06:22 but not for themselves. They're not calling for the people in their own community to sideline their well-being, their financial well-being, their financial future in a sense, or their careers in order to engage in political activism, especially when I find to be interesting. They're engaging in something they don't even understand. Athletes should do exactly what they've been born to do, what they have a passion in doing, which is showing up to the court or the field and performing so they can get to the next level. That's it.
Starting point is 00:06:53 If you want political activism, leave it to the people who are actually engaged in politics. It's such an ignorant statement from him. All right. One more for you. Here is Stephen Cohen. He is the guy who is going to lose his seat out of Tennessee, the Democrat. He is a white man who represents a majority black district. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:12 Here he is losing his mind on CNN last night. Take a listen. At the Memphis district that you represent doesn't really offer black representation because you are white. What is your response to that argument? Yeah, what's that guy's name that's on your panel? Sterly, Turner, Taylor. Are you talking about Scott? Yes, Scott, whatever's name is. Scott Jennings, yeah. I mean, it's a beautiful thing that the African-American community, it's not because it's me per se,
Starting point is 00:07:45 but that they have selected and chosen for 20 years a white congressman who does the job. do the job. I always had black friends and black political friends. All right. If you watched my show long enough, you already know what I'm about to say. Number one, as a white person in America, you don't have to tell people you
Starting point is 00:08:05 have black friends. Nowhere in the dictionary or in our society is there a rule that says, if I'm a black if I'm a white person, I need to let people know I have black bins because that proves I'm not a racist. You don't need to explain yourself. I don't understand. I don't understand
Starting point is 00:08:21 why that is a thing in America. You have great friends, good friends, some friends who may be black, maybe Asian, you know, who cares? But that's just my own bias speaking, just so you guys understand. And secondly, I mean, put some respect on Scott Jennings' name. Okay, you may disagree with some of his takes or his beliefs or his support for Israel. But come on. I mean, that was a little petty from him. He knows exactly who he is. And again, the problem with Stephen Cohen, which no longer exist anymore, is that he was a walking contradiction of the claim that black people won't be represented by people who look like them. And so I think that's the fact of the matter there. So this takes us to our next update. And Kathy Hokel, the governor in New York, is now facing backlash
Starting point is 00:09:07 because Long Island, particularly the railroad system, is going on a strike. People are not showing up to work. All operations has ceased to exist. And people in the streets protesting, this is a disaster. You know what the interesting part about all this? She blames President Trump. But let's look at the facts. Take a look. This is going to be really disruptive. The message now, though, is work from home, if possible, if you're one of these commuters, or take some alternate bus routes as MTA leaders, the MTA, that's the state agency that
Starting point is 00:09:37 runs the railroad, and five unions representing more than 3,500 workers continue to hash out a prospective deal. But let's just show you the numbers. This gives you an idea of the scope of the LIRR. busiest commuter railroad in North America. Approximately 250,000 to 300,000 customers ride it each weekday, 947 daily trains on the tracks each day, and the total ridership last year, 82 million customers. Now, the unions, they're seeking a retroactive 9.5% wage increase for the last three years with a 5% increase for this current year. Now, the MTA countered with a 3% increase
Starting point is 00:10:20 for 2026 in a lump sum. Now, reports suggest right now they're about 1% apart in these negotiations. As an advocate of truth, you know that women shouldn't have to share locker rooms with men. Women shouldn't have to compete against male athletes, and they shouldn't be punished
Starting point is 00:10:36 for speaking the truth regarding that. But across America, that's exactly what's happening. Men are allowed to compete in women's sports, robbing girls of sponsorships, medals, titles, and safety. Now the U.S. Supreme Court has heard two cases. This could be a watershed moment in this fight to protect biological reality and

This is the right moment to push back. Stand with Alliance Defending Freedom today. Now, we'll show you what Kathy Hockel had to say about President Trump and also what he had said. But bottom line is this is going to obviously disrupt travel in that area in a huge way. And essentially, this always happens, really, especially when you are dealing with a union, sort of speak, or a collective bargaining agreement. You know, usually both sides won't agree on the first
Starting point is 00:11:44 proposal, even on the second one. Sometimes it takes a particular strike or a a pause for leverage to ramp up and for one side to finally compromise. And I believe that's exactly what's going to happen in this situation. Now, let's go to the governor. Here's what she said. But New York Governor, Kathy Hockel, remember, she's up for re-election this year. She's placing the blame squarely on the Trump administration. Listen.
Starting point is 00:12:10 Now, we should not be here today. This potential strike was needlessly accelerated by reckless, unprecedented action from the Trump administration. Don't forget that. they thwarted the mediation process, which is what the normal course of business would have been, and perhaps brought us to a better place by now. Yeah. And so when you hear your elected representatives speaking this way, they, for some reason,
Starting point is 00:12:37 they have a hard time taking responsibility. It doesn't matter what the president does. This is in your jurisdiction and your state. Ultimately, the buck stops with you. So what does this have to do with the president in the United States? She didn't explain that. she's on autopilot. I mean, if you just listen to every press conference from Democrats, they always make time to blame whatever the problem is on the president somehow. Even if it isn't true, it doesn't matter. It's just natural behavior at this point. But anyway, here's what the president had to say. So we've got President Trump weighing in on the Long Island Railroad strike.
Starting point is 00:13:12 This just in after Governor, Kathy Hokel blamed union leaders for the walkout. In a social media post, Trump calling out the governor, writing, quote, If you can't solve it, let me know, and I'll show you how to properly get things done. That's a quote. That's a post. Commuters across the New York City area are dealing with major travel disruptions after Long Island Railroad workers walked off the job just after midnight. the strike shutting down the busiest commuter rail system in North America impacting around 250,000 daily riders.
Starting point is 00:13:44 I am one of them. I can tell you it has been a bit of a mess because we had a fire that happened earlier this week that happened before all of this. So we'll continue to watch it. Yeah, 250,000 people a day. That's a lot. Okay. And so it's nothing to balk at if that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:14:01 And here's the fact of the matter. This is just going to escalate. This is why they were out there this morning protesting with their signs. And in fact, some of them were caught on camera delivering their comments about how they feel about all of this. So let's play that now. Watch. It's unfortunate that we're in the situation. We're not in a fight against the commuters.
Starting point is 00:14:20 The commuters are our friends, our family, our neighbors. It's unfortunate that the MTA fails to come to the table and bargaining good faith. Can't always believe what you hear from the MTA. I'm held accountable for what I say. Obviously, the MTA is not. real hiccup because I'm able to get on the train and I can get back to Ron Concomer from Penn Station in about an hour and 20 minutes whereas if I tried to drive home it would be three hours easy so the impact being felt already and besides that Springston concert tonight this weekend
Starting point is 00:14:53 is the subway series in at City Field the Mets putting out a notice that to expect extra traffic and delays around City Field this weekend and that's really the advice to commuters is to plan ahead, expect delays, and budget extra time for the commute in. Now, usually, why does this happen all the time in America? Well, it's usually a dispute on pay or some type of benefit. In this particular situation, it was on pay. I believe, which will play you the clip here, that these employees, they have not received a raise since 2022. Now, here's a question for you guys, put it in the comments section. Do you believe employees who are part of a union or a collective bargaining agreement should have annual raises to keep up with inflation.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Now, when I served in the military, that's exactly what we got every single year. There was a pay increase. So I think if you're a part of something like this, especially if your organization is in charge of making sure people get from point A to point B, it might not be too much to ask for that raise. I think it's a problem of the budget. What is the governor doing with the money? and why is this such an issue to the point that it got out of hand that led to a strike? All right, let's take a look at the numbers.
Starting point is 00:16:09 MTA figures show members of the five unions on average made $136,000 in 2025, but union reps say workers cannot keep up with the cost of living. They pointed out they have not gotten a raise since 2022. And as for this weekend, the Mets play the Yankees today at City Field. Many, of course, normally would have used the LIRR to get there. Same goes if you're flying out of JFK Airport. Many of these free bus routes, they don't start until Monday. So weekend travel is really going to be snarled.
Starting point is 00:16:39 Back to you. So the question here, especially for the people watching my show, and you're from New York or you've lived there before, do you think $100, I believe he said, $36,000 a year, do you think that is enough or more than enough for these employees who work for that company, the Long Island Railroad Company, that is? Let me know what your answers are in the comments section. In fact, just giving your entire thoughts about the video in the comments section, I just find it fascinating that Democrats are still scrambling here
Starting point is 00:17:05 regarding this entire congressional map situation. But they decided to push back after Texas, and now we are where we are.
