Starting point is 00:00:00 The war on our silver rights from the previous administration has taken an interesting turn after the DOJ has made some major announcements, starting with Hermit Dillon, who we were able to interview just a week ago. Listen to this. Clearly there, in my opinion, is warfare between this administration and people who opposed it, particularly with DEI. As we know, the president came in, pushed back really hard. What are you guys doing about the universities or organizations that are finding these workarounds, whether they're changing the actual titles, of these individuals or switching up the language of the program, but it has the same intentions. How are you guys catching that? Yeah, so first of all, we catch it typically by members of the public flagging it for us.
Starting point is 00:00:41 Somebody will do an undercover video or somebody will find a website or what have you. So, again, there are over 6,000 institutions of higher learning that receive federal funding, so they're all legitimately within our scope and purview with Title VI and other law like Title IX. But we have gone after about 120 of them so far. And so we picked the top 50 U.S. News and World Report, and then we got to the top law schools, top medical schools. And then we've added on some universities that are not in that top tier, but that have some egregious examples of race-based programming that violates federal law.
Starting point is 00:01:17 This is why DEI has suffered a major setback because of this administration and the work that the Civil Rights Division is doing because you had that first wave of executive orders, obviously. And then the second wave is these organizations trying to essentially change the position titles and the language to combat the executive orders from the administration. And then I would say the third wave is the Civil Rights Division actually launching lawsuits and thorough investigations to catch these people and hold them accountable. So I think that's great news. And unfortunately, it's not something you hear every day on the nightly news or on the front page news that is. So that's why I'm glad that she was able to highlight
Starting point is 00:01:56 that, but I actually discovered there's a bigger problem here. Moments ago, the Justice Department released this new report examining its handling of parents who were speaking out at school board meetings during the Biden administration. The report says the department went too far, even as some DOJ and FBI officials warned internally about both the legal and political risks. This all goes back to 2021. Remember when parents were showing up at school board meetings nationwide protesting mask mandates, controversial curriculum, and other school policies?
Starting point is 00:02:24 Well, some of those meetings became quite heated. In September of 2021, the National School Board's Association sent a letter to President Biden claiming education leaders were under, quote, immediate threat. They asked for federal law enforcement assistance. Now, I want to do a quick translation. When they say they were under threat, what they really mean is that parents disagreed with their approach. I mean, think about all the DEI that was happening in the education system. And sure, parents had a problem with that. Think about some of the curriculum.
Starting point is 00:02:53 think about the subversion regarding the health care plan for kids that parents were unable to consent to or be notified about. Yeah, that's what they deemed as a threat, which is why this story is insane. Just days later, the Attorney General at the time Merrick Garland put out a memo directing the FBI coordinate with local authorities over threats against school officials. But the report out today reveals significant concerns inside the DOJ about whether the Fed should be involved at all. One DOJ attorney writing, the effort could look political, saying they might as well rename the damn thing the anti-Maga task force. Well, when President Trump came back to office, his department rescinded the Garland memo, opening its own probe into how the department was operating. It found the skepticism of DOJ personnel was well-founded and that the Garland memo, though nominally focused on threats of violence, attempted to interfere with parental rights and speech. Now, the DOJ says it is working to change things now.
Starting point is 00:03:51 they're offering up to a million dollars to teach educators about parents' rights. I mean, just imagine what parents were up against in the Merrick Garland, DOJ, truly weaponized against their interests, against their rights, in the welfare or the well-being, that is, of their children. It's really a sad situation. And that's why I say, I mean, we have multitude of issues. We have the DEI issue. We have educators becoming activists, and we had attorneys becoming activists, essentially.
Starting point is 00:04:18 But on that DEI point, I want to circle back to what Hermit DILN. had to say about that. Listen to this. It is going to take a long time to be very blunt to get rid of this in American academic academic academia because it took 30 or 40 years to come into effect. And, you know, for decades, people have been graduated from these sort of woke programs or branded themselves. I was just looking up at someone who I went to college with. And she was a promising corporate lawyer. And, you know, she's turned into like a DEI hustler. And, That's a whole job description for people who don't want to. They don't want to, you know, put in the hard work. And it's easy to just rant about people being unfair as your whole career.
Starting point is 00:05:01 But there's thousands of tens of thousands of people like that. They're not suited for any other job. So naturally, instead of pivoting and trying to learn a new skill in their 40s, 50s, 60s, they're simply burrowing in and hiding. It becomes the office of inclusion or some other nonsense like that. But it's all illegal. Yeah. You know, so this begs the question. what can Americans, particularly parents, be doing after hearing a story like this? And I asked her exactly that and she had some advice, which I'm going to get to. But I just want us to sit with this announcement. I mean, this literally indicates that we had a federal government who went to
Starting point is 00:05:37 the DOJ on behalf of Teachers Union, essentially, and other woke individuals, seeking to intimidate parents and prevent parents from taking an active role in their child's education. What are we doing here, America? What are we really doing? Why should the government and educators be the primary person responsible for making decisions on behalf of your kids' education? I don't think that should happen. I think it should be with the parents. At any rate, here's what Harmeet said that people should be doing.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Watch. My follow-up question was, what is it that the American people may not understand about the process. And if they did, it probably helped them have maybe a little bit more grace for how long things may take. Could you expand on that? Yeah, well, I'll tell you there are two shortcuts to what I just said, which is, number one, we have these regulations. And to change the regulations, to skip any of these steps, itself takes a year, notice and comment, months. Department of Education is, you know, downsizing. So we've absorbed some of the lawyers and investigators in our department, but that's going to require, you know, training and new workflows and management and all of that.
Starting point is 00:06:48 So, however, where a private party has already gone ahead and filed a lawsuit, like in students for fair admissions, the famous Harvard landmark case, Harvard UNC case, or in some of these other cases involving anti-Semitism, private or nonprofit law firms did their investigation and they filed suit. And at that point, the Department of Justice can move to intervene in a case or otherwise, involved without having to go through that process. So yeah, that was her response to me asking her about the process, right? When they take up these investigations, they look into civil rights violations. A lot of it actually originates from people privately suing these corporations or organizations.
Starting point is 00:07:29 So, you know, step one of the advice is to make sure that you are tracking what's happening, right? You are recording what's happening. You are engaged in what's happening. And that means someone just on the internet behind your keyboard complaining, but actually being a part of the solution by first getting people to see what's actually happening. So many ways to do that, of course. Step two, you could literally launch your own lawsuit as that is clear.
Starting point is 00:07:55 I mean, not everybody will do that, but that is an option. And then step three, which isn't really have to do with you per se, but sometimes it can happen with the DOJ will get involved. And that's what she was going over. At any rate, let's go to what she had to say about this DOJ, declassifying this information. about how Biden-era weaponization targeted parents. What we are doing is people who have weaponized the Department of Justice have left their jobs. Some of them have been fired. We are looking at each of the 25 cases in which parents were targeted as potential domestic
Starting point is 00:08:30 terrorists under this completely sham, bogus and disgraceful episode at the Department of Justice. We'll be offering apologies to parents. So we're also offering them the opportunity to review those materials themselves. And we'll get to the bottom of what happened here and make sure that no one who was investigated wrongfully here suffers any consequences from that. Looking forward, Carl, what we're doing is today the Department of Education and my office issued a statement regarding our efforts to make sure that two federal laws, FERPA and PPRA are enforced nationally, which reinforce parents and students' rights to privacy and against the type of intruse. behavior that we are seeing with gender ideology, sexualization, drag shows, and all of that kind of nonsense.
Starting point is 00:09:19 And so we're really returning to the center here and enforcing federal law while refusing to engage in and reversing those abuses under the Biden DOJ and Merrick Garland DOJ. This is why sitting down with her was very important for me, because I wanted you guys to hear what's happening that isn't getting front page news that has devastating effects on your local community, in your home, at the classroom, you know, in your city. And a lot of people aren't aware of that stuff. They don't get how much there's been a full out of salt on parents in America, even parents who choose to homeschool their kids, right? Parents who choose to take charge of the health care plan for their kids. We've had a lot of people in these positions,
Starting point is 00:10:07 whether they're educators, superintendents, some are attorneys. Some are attorneys. as you guys are aware, some are health care professionals pushing back on parents. And if it wasn't for the Civil Rights Division, I'm not too sure anybody could actually defend these people technically, right? So this is why the interview was so key and why this announcement is such a timing given we just interviewed her and then they made this announcement. All right, let me take you guys to my final question for Hamit, which I found to be a good one. Listen to this. Final question for you. When you leave this and the next assistant attorney general comes after you, whether they are on your side or not, what are you hoping they will acknowledge about your work?
Starting point is 00:10:51 That it was revolutionary and that it really changed permanently how people in the civil rights division and the public view our role. Because I think for too long, it has been viewed as sort of a service bureau for a particular segment of society. and we view it as a litigation shop to protect all American civil rights, whatever they may be. And I think that really needs to be how our government operates. Whether you're a Republican or Democrat, we go to bat for all Americans every day, and that's how it needs to be. Harmeen, thank you so much for your time.
Starting point is 00:11:24 I really appreciate it. You see, Harmi Dylan isn't an audiologue or a person of this administration who's a victim of tribalism. She just wants to go out there and enforce the law. in order to defend our civil rights, not weaponize our civil rights, okay, as we've seen in the previous administration. And they've been able to do that, whether it is pushing back on DEI, as we've already covered in today's video, whether it is targeting institutions who are essentially violating the Constitution regarding our Second Amendment, or the attack on parents,
Starting point is 00:12:00 you know, or the election integrity, right? There's a lot that is happening here. again, that does not get attention. And for the life of me, the way I want in this video is by making something abundantly clear. You may disagree with President Trump. You may have friends and family who absolutely hate the man. But my question for these people every single time, is this what you want to hand your country over to a party
Starting point is 00:12:25 that literally attacks parents and calls them domestic terrorists? I mean, that doesn't make any sense. It is only one of so many abuses that we, We've uncovered from that era, the Merrick Garland DOJ, weaponized the DOJ to go after Georgia for upgrading and improving its election laws. It, you know, demagogued, you know, Americans, you know, don't forget the Jack Smith investigation where the United States senators. And, I mean, it would, I mean, they have called people of faith terrorists. They prosecuted people praying outside abortion clinics. The abuses are legion, and we haven't even gotten to the bottom of them yet.
Starting point is 00:13:07 But this one affected every parent in America as a potential domestic terrorist. And so we put a stop to it in this Department of Justice, and we've flipped the script. And now we give parents their respect that they are due under federal law. And we protect children and children's rights. So bottom line here, and my biggest takeaway from speaking with Hermit Dillon is, one, they're doing a lot of work that's never going to get any attention. Two, a lot of this work has devastating effects if they are unsuccessful. For an example, if they are unsuccessful in defending the civil rights of parents and how they
Starting point is 00:13:41 should have control over not only the health care of their child, but also what is going on in the classroom regarding the curriculums and at these school board meetings. I think that is very clear. It's also clear that the work they're doing regarding our Second Amendment and our rights there isn't getting enough attention either. So, you know, Mainstream media has done a phenomenal job of distracting the American people from the good work that individuals within this administration is doing that you would want them to do, what we actually voted for, which brings me really to my final point in all of this. As the midterm election continues to get closer, obviously
Starting point is 00:14:21 the choice is very clear. You can vote for a Republican party who has essentially let you down on certain situations. Maybe you are disappointed in the war with Iran. You're disappointed with gas prices. I'm not going to say you don't have a right to fill that way. But do you really want to hand the country over to the Democrats who are guilty at what Hermit Dillon in the Civil Rights Division has successfully exposed the attack on parental rights? The going to the DOJ to essentially intimidate parents, I mean, lock up pro-lifers?
Starting point is 00:14:54 I mean, these are literally a violation of our. civil rights, which is interesting. You know, you hear at these protests that President Trump is taking away my rights. Actually, it was the Biden administration that was violating people's rights and locking people up over it. And so I think the choice is clear, in my opinion, but it's not for me to tell people who to vote for, but just to show both sides and to make the case.
