Starting point is 00:00:00 In today's video, circuit court judge dropped a bomb on Virginia Democrats. The California governor debate was a total disaster. And a New York City councilman was arrested for getting into a scuffle with NYPD. Now, let's start with Virginia and why this referendum is now on hold. Take a listen. In Virginia, a judge has blocked the certification of a redistricting referendum that allows the state to redraw its congressional and legislative maps, less than 24 hours after voters approved that very measure. The judge ruled the referendum violated the Virginia Constitution. The move prevents the state's Department of Elections from finalizing results unless overturned on appeal.
Starting point is 00:00:38 The state's attorney general said he will immediately appeal, arguing, quote, an activist judge should not have veto power over the people's vote. The referendum was expected to be a major Democratic victory, potentially shifting Virginia's congressional map to a 10-to-one democratic advantage. The judge's ruling leaves the state's existing redistricting process unchanged, at least for now. All right. So needless to say, this is a major legal blow because I don't think they were really expecting this. And by the way, you have people going on to CNN and these other left-leaning networks acknowledging that the procedural way that things should be done when introducing a referendum in this way, they actually not only ignored it, but they didn't even follow the constitutional process according to their state constitution. Now, Obviously, this is going to reach the Virginia Supreme Court because this is about the state's constitution. So we'll see ultimately what happens.
Starting point is 00:01:37 But I think if we put a percentage on it, maybe 60, 40, somehow, some way this gets modified, possibly overturned, maybe. And not to mention that the language on the ballot was misleading. But I'm not too sure that's enough to overturn anything. That's just the game of politics. Let's go to the former Virginia Attorney General. Here's what he had to say. So first, I guess, let's get to the breaking news, this judge in Southern Virginia ordering results
Starting point is 00:02:02 to not be certified. The judge called the ballot language flagrantly misleading. What's your reaction? Well, it certainly was flagrantly misleading, but my basic reaction is that I appreciate lower court wins, but the Virginia Supreme Court is going to decide this. And to Terry's point about, well, hey, if they didn't decide it before, there's a reason the Supreme Court held off
Starting point is 00:02:25 until after the vote, over 100 years of Virginia legal precedent says that the vote by in a referendum is part of the legislative process. It's analogous to a governor signing a bill. You don't sue on a bill that hasn't passed yet. So what they've done here in terms of timing is very much in keeping with the Virginia legal history. What isn't in keeping with Virginia legal history is how this general assembly has so blatantly ignored the requirements of the Constitution to amend the Constitution. So I think it's highly likely that this will be overturned probably in May. Now, the pushback against Republicans for taking this case to the courts, which we know will reach the Virginia Supreme Court, is that Texas
Starting point is 00:03:15 started this. Republicans started this, and Democrats are going to finish it because they need to level the playing field. And if we really want to be objectively fixed, about who really started it. Massachusetts in 1812 is who really started it. Because every since then, most of the states have executed some degree of gerrymandering. Obviously, we'll live in a time where everything's amplified because of social media and just the landscape today. But gerrymandering is nothing new.
Starting point is 00:03:49 And so both parties here can't really complain because both. of them have actually benefited from this. Now, again, this is one of those things politically where neither side really wants to address the issue because it's an advantage for them to use. That's just a reality. However, it's not going to stop fake conservatives from saying this. Take a listen.
Starting point is 00:04:12 The way that Hakeem Jeffries, obviously, Democrat leader, spoke, you know, that Republicans started this war and we're going to finish it. Now, he's referring to Texas, which was first out of the gate. by the way, went all the way to the Supreme Court and was upheld there. So that could mean similar for Virginia, we'll see. But he is correct that this was started by Republicans.
Starting point is 00:04:34 So now we've got the math that's leaning Democratic, right? I mean, is this a self-inflicted issue for Republicans? Yes and no. I mean, partisan gerrymandering has been going on for decades. I remember when Adam Kinsinger's seat was written out in Illinois, somebody who's a moderate Republican, but still the Democratic map didn't favor him in his seat disappeared. We've seen this many years over, but Republicans did start it.
Starting point is 00:04:55 And heading into the midterms, the place you don't want to be is redrawing congressional maps to favor yourself. You want to be in a position where you're so confident going into the midterms. That's not even necessary, but that's not reality. The average ballot right now favors Democrats by more than 15 points right now. So Republicans are going to play hardball. In some cases, they maybe won't like Indiana. But we've seen a tit for tat.
Starting point is 00:05:15 We've seen Texas. We've seen California. Now Virginia and Next Florida. I think that right now the Democratic base wants to see their party fight, so they're encouraging these fights to be taking place. Yeah, but we also know what that means when the Democrat base wants their party to fight. It means it essentially supports them breaking the rules, doing whatever is necessary to win, even if we have to do anti-democratic things to preserve our democracy.
Starting point is 00:05:42 That's who the party has become. So I think we know exactly what that means. And again, I am in favor of. banning gerrymandering outright. I think Congress should actually force all congressional maps across the entire nation to be reset 50-50. In my own world, that's what I would do. I just want to be clear on that. Now, let's go to our next little update here because it's a segue into this same conversation about redistricting where Hakeem Jeffries came out yesterday,
Starting point is 00:06:09 humiliating himself by threatening Florida and Ron DeSantis if that, because if they end up responding by redrawing their maps, that he's prepared to do whatever is necessary. Take a listen. Our message to Florida Republicans is F around and find out. If they go down the road of a Desantis dummymander, the Florida Republicans are going to find themselves in the same situation as Texas Republicans who are on the run right now
Starting point is 00:06:42 and under no circumstances are Texas Republicans picking up five seats. They'll be fortunate if they get two or three. While in California, we are going to get all five. The Republicans are dummymandering their way into the minority before a single voters cast because they started this war and we're going to finish it. Okay, so a few things. Number one, if every state executed gerrymandering, Republicans would still come out on top. Point number two, worst case scenario.
Starting point is 00:07:17 Let's say Democrats, not only win one of the chamber. during the midterm elections, but they flip a lot of Democrat, or excuse me, they flip a lot of Republican seats to Democrat. That is the only scenario where they come out on top. And regarding Hakeem Jeffries, which brings me to point number three in his, I don't know, awkward comments there, Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, will happily welcome Jeffries to come to the state and make a full of himself so they can use that as content to run campaign ads.
Starting point is 00:07:49 I mean, please, go to Florida. Jeffries, please. I think the governor would love it. In fact, that's exactly what he said in response. Take a look. This guy, Jeffries, popping off in Washington about Florida. He wants to be Speaker of the House. And he's kind of like, you know, more liberal than Pelosi and all this other stuff from New York City.
Starting point is 00:08:12 I just want to know. I just say, oh, Florida, can you do it? We're going to go after Florida. Please be my guest. I will pay for you to come down. to Florida and campaign. I'll put you up in the Florida governor's mansion. We'll take you fishing. We'll do all this stuff. There's nothing that could be better for Republicans in Florida than to see Jeffries, Hakeem Jeffries, everywhere around this state. Voters will not like what they see.
Starting point is 00:08:38 They will not want that type of ideology. And so the door is open. The invitations out there. I don't think there'd be anything better for the Republican Party of Florida, but to have Jeffries there. I kind of feel bad for the guy because he's as left as they come. He's always going left. And yet the far left hates him. You know, they call him a dollar store Obama. They call him APEC secure, all these different derogatory names that they do. And so he's tried to ingratiate himself with their, but they're just not drinking the Kool-Aid.
Starting point is 00:09:09 And so they give him a hard time. So I kind of feel bad for that. But please, be my guest to come down in Florida. We would love to have you. All right. Let's take a moment and talk about something serious. How many of you guys have been punished because of your credit? What am I talking about?
Starting point is 00:09:22 You're out there, you're working hard, you're making money. Then when you try to go get a car, an apartment, or a home, you get denied. It's the ultimate frustrating experience. This is where kickoff comes in because even though you may make a lot of money, the system sees you differently based on your credit score. Kickoff is a simple, affordable way to help you to start building credit the right way. Plan started at just $5 a month, no credit checks, no hidden fees. and the key on-time payments that actually build up your payment history and strengthen your credit profile over time.
Starting point is 00:09:54 And it's very straightforward. You set it up, you turn on auto pay, and you let it work. Users started below the credit score of 600 and have seen real progress within their first month of staying consistent. So if you're serious about improving your financial situation regarding your credit, go to getkickoff.com 4 slash deborries scan the QR code on the screen. Starting point is 00:10:26 Subject to approval, offer subject to change. Average first year credit score impact up plus 84 points. Vanted score 3.0 between January, 23 and January 2024. For kickoff credit account users who started with a score below 600, who paid on time and who had no delinquencies or collections added to their credit profile during that period, late payments may negatively impact the credit score. Individual results may vary. Okay, obviously this is entertaining, and it's always nice to make fun of Jeffries because
Starting point is 00:10:49 it's very easy to do so. And when Ron DeSantis can actually make a joke, that's funny. I think you are definitely the butt of the joke. Anyways, let's focus on the legal point here. Can Florida get this done? And that's a good question because they've already been challenged, all right? People within the legislature had already tried to block this effort, previously. So let's like to take a listen to this clip where it really breaks down this entire process
Starting point is 00:11:17 that Florida is about to go through. Take a listen. The state's new congressional map could result in up to five new Republican-leaning seats. Florida's constitution includes strict anti-jerrymandering provisions, which could add difficulties in redrawing the map in favor of Republicans. After the redistricting referendum in Virginia, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries argued that the GOP plan for partisan gerrymandering in the Sunshine's state is illegal and issued a warning if it moves forward. The special legislative session is expected to proceed after the Florida Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit attempting to challenge the redistricting process. All eyes are now shifting toward Florida as the mid-decade redistricting battle between
Starting point is 00:11:57 Republicans and Democrats continues into the midterm election cycle. All right, let's go to our next update, and this is an interesting one. So last night, the governor debate for California took place and it really showed the true colors of what California is going to be facing. I mean, this is really troubling stuff if you think about it. And I think you will not only be entertained, but you will be reminded of how dangerous progressives can really be. Let's hear the summary on this. Take a listen.
Starting point is 00:12:26 A highly anticipated debate in the race to be the next governor of California. The first debate since Eric Swalwell dropped out of the race and dropped out of Congress over sexual misconduct allegations, allegations he has denied. ballot to decide the top two candidates we mailed in a couple of weeks. Let's get the scene in its chief national affairs correspondent, Jeff Seleney, for the latest on this. Look, everyone watches California for signs of political trends here. What happened on this stage overnight, Jeff? Well, John, good morning.
Starting point is 00:12:53 There are four Democrats and two Republicans vying to be California governor, as well as a few dozen other candidates. But these are the six top candidates, if you will. And it was a pretty extraordinary evening in terms of some of the candidates. candidates just introducing themselves. So the Democrats, of course, going after the Trump administration, the Republicans going after the Gavin Newsom administration. Of course, Gavin Newsom is hanging over all of this, the incumbent Democratic governor who cannot run again. He is not weighed in on this. And that is causing some consternation among some Democrats. They're worrying what could happen in June in the primary if the top two candidates actually go to the general are Republicans.
Starting point is 00:13:33 That is possible in California because it's what we call a jungle primary. if you will, the top two vote getters go on to the general election. But before all of that, the candidates are vying to distinguish themselves. The Democrats went after President Trump trying to make a name for themselves. So from a political strategist's point of view, going after President Trump is not enough. That may be part of it. But the core of the messaging has to be what we've seen from Abigail Scanberger, what we've seen from Zoran Mondani, which is they focus on the word affordability, Medicare for all, right? Universal health care.
Starting point is 00:14:13 Okay. And then you sprinkle in the Trump administration. And the thing for California, ultimately, is affordability. It's the money, okay? It's the economy, stupid, right? Our best hope here, and hopefully this debate demonstrated for people of California, is that both Republicans move forward, Steve Hilton and Chad Bianco. But let's first go to Tom Steyer, the billionaire who's been endorsed by an anti-billionaire
Starting point is 00:14:42 progressive union. Here's his message. Should we cut the gas tax? You have 60 seconds. Let me say that the reason that gasoline is so expensive that our president, Donald Trump, has started an insane war in Iran and driven up the cost of gasoline for everybody in California. That has put $70 billion into the pockets. of the oil companies who actually put him in the presidency.
Starting point is 00:15:10 Californians are suffering across the board. The biggest problem in California is that the Californians can't afford to live here anymore. The answer on this is not to give up the gas tax, but actually to have a windfall profit tax on the oil companies who have been ripping us off for decades. That's on the books. We can activate it right away. We can get the money, and we should send it directly back
Starting point is 00:15:35 to California citizens. Listen, people like Tom Steyer, politicians like Tom Steyer, hope you don't do your research. That's really what's going on here. And this continues to happen throughout history where politicians will misdiagnose a problem, apply the wrong solution, then gaslight you when the disastrous results roll in. Okay? That's literally what's going to happen if he gets elected. Because just read this on the screen.
Starting point is 00:16:02 Fuel is exceptionally expensive in California due to a combination. of the highest state taxes, 90 cents per gallon combined with federal taxes as a March 2025, a unique, trickly regulated, cleaner burning field blend, limited refining capacity, and geographic isolation. These factors along with environmental fees and persistent mystery surcharges keep prices significantly above the national average. nowhere in there did it say the president of the United States. But again, he's hoping you don't do your research. I mean, when there's a dollar going to taxes alone, that makes a difference.
Starting point is 00:16:46 And by the way, majority of the fuel in California doesn't come from America. It comes from overseas, which is an added expense. Okay. This is crazy. Now let's go to this clown who says that Gavin Newsom gets an A for homelessness. Take a listen. We haven't seen you issue a letter grade on Governor Newsom's overall performance. What grade does he get on homelessness and what, if anything, would you do differently?
Starting point is 00:17:15 You have 60 seconds. Frank, I would say that the governor has made efforts. We've seen him come down to Los Angeles, actually go out and try to clean some of the streets. On effort, I would give him an A. Here's what I would do. That's different, though. I would focus on accountability. I would make sure if we're sending billions of dollars down to the local communities to our cities and our counties,
Starting point is 00:17:38 that we would demand accountability for the dollar that we're going to give them. If you really do think about it, and I'm glad I received an email from someone who was homeless in California. He clearly articulated that you cannot trust the shelters. They're not safe. They're not actually in accordance with hygiene standards, if that makes sense. So, yeah, if you are homeless, why would you go there, right? Now, think of those people and then think of the other people who just simply don't want to stop being homeless, okay? There's those people.
Starting point is 00:18:09 Then you have a certain percentage of people who are just really caught up in these substance abuse. They can't kick it at the moment. Now, let's go to Katie Porter because we know she's insane. This lady is psychotic. But she did make this particular point, which we continue to hear from the left, which is taxed the rich. Take a listen. I think all taxes should be progressive. The very wealthy, the billionaires should pay more. The problem with a gas tax or a vehicle's mild travel tax is that it does the opposite. It punishes
Starting point is 00:18:40 lowest, the lowest income Californians, those who have the longest commutes to work and can least afford fancy vehicles. So I think it's important that we fund us, as I've said, out of the general fund. We do need to move toward electric vehicles over time, but the reason they're not getting purchased. Isn't range anxiety. It's pocketbook issues. All right. So the last point there, she contradicted herself. In fact, more people are buying electric vehicles because of how high gas prices are. Again, Tesla, one of the most, they sold more vehicles than any other electric company out there or companies that offer electric vehicles. They have no issues right now. So that's a non-starter. There's more Tesla vehicles in California than any other state. So that doesn't make any sense.
Starting point is 00:19:27 And the fact in the matter is who gets to decide what the fair share is. And by the way, even if you end up deciding it, how do we know you will use the money properly? We've seen California not only mismanage funds, but gaslight you when they're exposed, whether it's the capital building, whether it's the high-speed rail to nowhere, or a simple overpass for animals to travel over the highway. every step of the way, California continues to mismanaged funds. Californians are being crushed by the gas prices, by the gas tax. We have the highest gas tax in the country for the worst roads in the country. And across the board, we have the highest taxes for the worst results. And you know who's really suffering?
Starting point is 00:20:14 It's working Californians. It's small businesses. Most of my career has been in business. I know what it's like to try and run a business. the costs that are being imposed on our businesses and our workers in California is just too much. And one way or another, all the Democrats here are part of this system that obviously isn't working. We need common sense solutions. We need practical solutions. Why are we importing oil from 7,500 miles away in Iraq rather than using the oil we have here in California?
Starting point is 00:20:51 So the bottom line here to this California debate is that it proves once again how Democrats misdiagnosed problems. And that really the solution here is, and you don't even need to be a Republican or conservative to accept this. It comes down to three main things. You got to stop the assault from environmentalists on that state. Push back on these over-regulated industries, particularly the oil industry, as we know. And also stop importing so much fuel from the, you know. the other side of the world. Secondly, they got to get taxes down somehow. Remove the gas tax. Remove all these little taxes that have add up as a really a detriment to prices across the board.
Starting point is 00:21:34 And then three, you got to make it a business-friendly state. All right. Let's go to our next story here. And this is, again, showing the radicalization of progressives or particularly people from the left. And a New York councilman was involved in a violent riot where they assaulted police officers and ended up getting arrested. This is a fascinating story. Take a listen. We begin with these questions surrounding the arrest of a New York City council member. Mayor Mumdani, among those reacting to the cell phone video that shows NYPD officers wrestling with councilman Chiosay to the ground and putting him in handcuffs. He was one of four people arrested during a protest that broke out in Bedstuy over deed theft.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Iwood News News reporter Dahlah Miles is live in Bedstai with our lead. story. Darla. Shadei and Mike, this morning, Councilmember Chi Jose and three other people were arrested. The council member and two others actually had to be treated at the hospital for concussions after what ensued here this morning. As you can see, there are a group of people behind me at this Jefferson Avenue home. They say they are here to block the illegal eviction while the homeowner still fights in court to keep her property. But the NYPD said they received a 911 one call to respond to a protest. Okay, so we'll get to why he showed up at this particular protest and what was behind all that. But I first want to just show you guys his victimization
Starting point is 00:23:01 statement. He's literally calling for more violence. The council members currently being held in process at the 79th precincts, 263 Thompson's Avenue and Betts die. We encourage you to show up to the precinct to call for his release and support the black homeowners whose homes are being stolen through deed theft. Now, the interesting thing about this gentleman, he's the one who's actually challenged Hakeem Jeffries. He wants to replace Hakeem Jeffries. He also calls himself a Democrat socialist. Now, me and you know exactly what that means. Okay, let's go to the reason behind this riot. Take a listen. O'Say and three others arrested Wednesday morning and bets die during a confusing standoff between the NYPD, the marshal's office, and a coalition of people trying to help
Starting point is 00:23:48 Carmela Charrington from being forced out of her Jefferson Avenue home that her family has owned for six decades. It's a conservator in the state of Georgia that signed off. You cannot sign off from Georgia in the property in New York. So the conservator in Georgia signed off with a developer in New York. In this cell phone video, you see an officer with glasses shove a man who's blocking the front gate. Next, you see a female. NYPD officer leaping over a fence to unlock the front gate to allow officers in. And another video shows an NYPD officer physically removing a woman from the front porch down the stairs. Legally, what took places, yes, historically, the same family had owned this property.
Starting point is 00:24:30 And somewhere along the way in recent years, it was sold. Okay, someone took over the property. They have the actual title. And so when the family tried to go to the court and say, this is deed theft. No, someone stole this from us. The court did not agree with her case. And so the eviction was upheld. Obviously, they went to the property to execute the eviction. NYPD showed up to enforce the eviction. So when you're pushing back in that way, impeding law enforcement from doing their job, this is exactly what you get.
Starting point is 00:25:06 Mayor Zoranamdani, whose platform included fighting deft, reacting to news of council member O'Say's arrest. I mean, that's incredibly concerning to hear. And that's exactly something that we're going to follow up on, not just on the nature of this arrest, but also what was the underlying issue that was being protested. As I mentioned, a very complicated case here. The AG's office says it does not have the jurisdiction to intervene into what it calls, in quote, individual legal dispute, but staff has repeatedly met with Chargton to offer
Starting point is 00:25:37 guidance. Yeah, that comment at the end doesn't sound like things are going to work in their favor. But again, when you have a council member who's already a radical individual, calls themselves a Democrat socialist, willing to shove police officers to stop a lawful eviction. This is another demonstration of how far they will go to get what they want. And I hope the nation is paying attention to this. So at this point, give me your thoughts in the comments. I should blow to the story today. First, what did you make of the debate with these people running for California governor?
Starting point is 00:26:10 I think Katie Porter and Tom Steyer are dangerous. What did you make of if Kim Jeffreys getting humiliated? And that Virginia Democrats are going to have to go to the courts to uphold their jerrymandering. And this whole situation with this Democrat Socialist on City Council of New York City being arrested. Give me your thoughts, everything you got in the comment section below. Now, in our next video, we have to continue to talk about Virginia because the governor herself had a disastrous interview yesterday after she tried to just. testify betraying her own voters. If you guys miss it on that video and more, click on the video because it's coming up right now.
