Now, there is no doubt that you've already heard about the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie,
who is the mother of Savannah Guthrie, who is obviously famous for her interactions with the president.
We know the White House has been extending their condolences.
We know they also have shared the FBI's latest update where not only do they have new images of this potential suspect,
but also have offered a $50,000 reward, which we'll get into in this video,
including the newest shocking update, which is the Bitcoin account that actually received money over the past hour, which was tied to the ransom demands.
And so, you know, I just want to say this right up front before we get into all of this.
My hope is that she is found.
She is safe and she comes home.
And if that's not the case, I hope they do catch this suspect and hold them to the highest degree regarding the laws of our land.
And also we have to update you on this breaking news that Pima County Sheriff's Department with assistance from the FBI has detained an individual for questioning and connection with the abduction of Nancy Guthrie.
A law enforcement official brief on the investigation told ABC News.
They don't have the photo or the name of this individual.
I'm saying this as it just came out.
The FBI shared a recovered Ness camera footage showing an armed individual manipulating the device at the 84-year-old Tuscan home earlier.
on February 1, 26. That's the date of the video. The morning after, their family dropped her off
following dinner. All right. So I told you there was a recent payment activity in the Bitcoin account.
Let's hear the explanation on that now. Watch. Jake, there certainly seems to you a lot of activity
in the investigation. What are you seeing? What are you hearing? Well, first of all, we should
bring some clarity that Kagan, the local CNN affiliate, also reports activity in that Bitcoin
account, but it's less than $300 activity.
So it's unclear what that exactly means.
We talked to a Bitcoin and cyber monetary value expert earlier today, who talked about
how sometimes even just sending one penny to or $1 to an account like that could help
people track down where that account is.
They're actually not untraceable, as some people believe.
All right.
So number one, what you need to know about this payment, according to what I understand about
crypto because I have a crypto wallet myself. Yeah, they're hoping that the $300 payment will be able to
locate that person. How would that exactly happen? Well, it could be in the form of IP addresses.
I mean, that's literally how you track people on the internet to see if the IP address accessed that
account when they did, where they did. It's possible. Point number two, though, is even if they did
track that IP address, there's no guarantee it's going to lead them to the proper location,
especially if the suspect, if it is, him and D, use VP.
in the process. Okay. And number three, it's not all doom and gloom because we haven't had many
updates until really today, the video, the photos of the suspect, and now this, it's huge. So people
are still holding out hope, but it's been 10 days at this point. So some people are actually
fearing the worst. Let's go to TMZ because they were the first actually talked about the payment
into this crypto wallet. Here's their version of events. Watch. Now, the ransom note that you received
had that Bitcoin address for a ransom payment.
We're now 24 hours and 25 minutes past the deadline for that payment.
And I know you have still been checking for any payments.
What are you seeing?
So about 12 minutes ago, we saw activity in that account.
Activity like what?
That's what I can't talk about.
There are reasons I can't, but all I can say is there is now activity in that Bitcoin account.
out. Okay. Now, let me just ask one more question, and you'll share with me what you can,
but when you say activity, is that that you can see money is going into the account, or are you
able to tell whether it's money going in or going out? Well, it would only show, as I understand,
this, money going in, and the only thing you would see is money. And, Aaron, that's all I can say.
Now, the interesting thing is, that's 30 minutes prior to what you just heard Jake Tapper say. So I don't
understand why he couldn't tell us what the dollar amount was. I find that to be interesting,
but that's his own prerogative and maybe he can't really say what he really wanted to say.
Fair. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. But as it pertains to what happened earlier today,
which was really a much more shocking update, is the videos and the photos of the potential suspect.
Here's a summary of that and more details on that. Take a listen.
Tonight, the first chilling images shutting light on what happened at Nancy Guthrie's house the night she was abducted.
disturbing Ness camera surveillance footage released by the FBI today, you can see a masked person
walk up to Nancy's front door and begin tampering with the camera around the time Nancy disappeared.
The person has a gun holstered to their waist and is wearing gloves and a fully stuffed backpack.
They then stop, turn around and begin searching for something, eventually grabbing a handful of
flowers from the yard, which they then use to block the view of the security camera as they disable it.
This third video shows the person slightly hunched over as they walk up to.
the door. This is the game changer we were waiting for more than anything, more than, you know,
ballistics, more than other types of, you know, cell phone data. This is the one. The video so
often is what breaks the case open. While none of the videos or images show the suspect's face,
there are many defining features you can see that could help investigators and the public
figure out who this person is. Here, there appears to be facial hair around the mouth and here
and here distinctive shaped eyebrows showing through the eye holes of the men.
mask. The person's clothes may also be a clue, light colored running shoes, this zip up jacket,
and reflectors on the backpack. In this photo, the glare suggests there could be a flashlight in the
person's mouth as they hold up those flowers in front of the camera. Here's a couple of things that
are continuing to stand out to me. Number one, this guy already knew where the camera was,
knew it was rolling, so he was prepared. Number two, it hasn't been confirmed what type of
subscription plan she was on regarding the Ness device.
And so let's say she wasn't on a subscription plan.
How did they get access to the video footage?
If she was, does it make sense they were able to get this?
I mean, maybe that's a question down the road.
Number three, if that ring device is working, excuse me, Nest device,
is there one across the street?
Is there CCTV cameras?
We haven't been able to see that.
This is the only first access to any type of video of photos of a potential suspect.
But clearly, he's ready to go.
And this is on February 1st.
Since Nancy's disappearance 10 days ago, investigators have been working to recover any surveillance footage from her home, some of which the FBI says may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors, including the removal of recording devices. Today, the agency says by working with private sector partners, it was finally able to uncover these previously inaccessible new images. Notice the way that someone's posture or the way they move, their hand gestures, all of that somebody has seen. This person in the last.
on their entire life, never interacting with others, family members, friends,
people that know him know who he is. They just have to report it.
That's exactly what the FBI and the Gothry family are hoping for.
Savannah posting the new images saying someone out there recognizes this person.
We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.
Yeah, there's no doubt she's out there. The question is, where is she still alive?
And of course, who is behind this? Some people, especially on the internet, believe it's
the son-in-law already. Now, what evidence of that? I don't have any. They don't have any. But that's the
speculation run around the internet. Like what you see here in this particular post where someone's
comparing a photo of him and the guy in the mask. There's no way to prove that's actually him.
You'll have to make up your own mind of what you believe to be true. I'm not convinced at this point.
I need more than that. But this is what's going to happen as people attempt to say it's this person and
this person and ultimately one day we're going to wake up and we're going to find out exactly
who this person is. A local Tucson news stations reporting that less than $300 was put into the
Bitcoin account, but there may be more coming. Meanwhile, SWAT team and bomb squad units have just
been deployed in the hunt for Nancy Guthrie. They were seen peeling out of their Tucson headquarters.
They were on the move and were tracking them. Police have been all over Savannah's sister's
neighborhood this afternoon, FBI agents going door to door, asking Annie's neighbors for permission
to search their property and looking for items that might have been disposed of or hidden.
Annie Guthrie and her husband, Tomaso, were the last ones to see Nancy before she went missing.
TMZ is reporting that investigators believe whoever took Nancy was from the Tucson area,
and that manhunt seems to have zeroed in on a tiny radius surrounding her daughter's block.
Annie and Tomaso's home is a 10-minute drive from Nancy's house, and authorities have been scrutinizing the locals.
Earlier today, landscapers, pool cleaners, and contractors who had access to Nancy's house were swabbed for DNA.
Now, there's two things I want to get to in the rest of this video.
One, what happened earlier today when a pizza driver delivered pizza literally walked onto the scene.
It's really crazy.
You have to see it for yourself.
But secondly, is this particular update I want to circle back on why it took so long for the FBI to get Ness camera footage of Nancy Guthrie, kidnapping suspect?
And what it really tells us about Google and what they're able to do.
You see, the longer awaited release of the horrifying breaking footage recorded by the missing nest camera shows just what parent company Google is capable of.
One expert said, Guthrie wasn't paying for a Google home subscription, which would have stored her nest feed, even if the physical.
camera was removed. It costs $10 a month or $100 a year for the basic service that saves video
triggered by moments for events for 30 days. They go on to say even without a paid subscription,
there is a way to go to some data center and spend a lot of time and effort to try to find
that particular camera and at that particular time without a subscription.
Now, in this particular situation, you see the positive side of that. But what about other
situations where they're trying to prosecute you. You guys following what I'm saying? I just think this
is a stunning admission here during this entire investigation. Now, this isn't the most important
update, by the way. We hope that she's found. But I'd be crazy if I didn't mention this.
All right. So the pizza driver, right? Watch this video.
Where exactly, it's a circle driveway. We're exactly this person's in clear. It's clearly not at the
I've been working closely with our private sector partners to continue out to recover any
duties from Nancy Guthrie's home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible
due to a variety of factors, including the audio of these recording devices.
The video was recovered from residual data located in back and systems.
Now, as a response to what happened earlier today, Pima County Sheriff's Department
posted this. We can't believe we'd have to say this, but media on the scene, please do not order food
delivery to a crime scene address. This interferes with an active investigation. Please also respect
private property laws. Thank you. Now, as you guys know, there's no actual yellow crime scene tape
surrounding the property. People can literally just walk up if they want to and start taking
photos. There's no actual checkpoint or perimeter that's essentially been set up. I mean,
if the delivery driver was able to knock on the door and drop off pizza, I think that tells you
everything, right? So bottom line to this update regarding the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.
there is a $300 payment to the Bitcoin address that was used in the ransom note.
That's the first thing.
Secondly, Pima County Sheriff's Department has already arrested someone or detained them for questioning
because they are a potential suspect.
This is in coordination with the FBI.
So that's number two.
And number three, this is the first true breakthrough as of on the 10th day here of her disappearance
where we actually got to see a photo and a video of the suspect, essentially,
ready to commit the actual crime itself.
But obviously his face was covered.
And so there's a lot of speculation out there.
Is it the sudden law?
Is it not?
Is it someone else?
We don't know any of that yet.
But what we do know is things have progressed pretty quickly here.
And hopefully the person they have detained will actually get them closer to finding Nancy.
What do you guys think about this particular update?
Are you praying for her?
Are you praying for the family?
Do you think she will be found?
Do you think she's still alive?
And here's probably the best question of them all.
Why?
I still, for the life of me, don't understand.
Why is this happening exactly?
Give me your thoughts and everything you got in the comment section below.
Now in our next story takes us back to Capitol Hill where Todd Lyons testified today.
And I got to tell you, Democrats continue to humiliate themselves because they were brutally fact-checked during this hearing.
I want you to hear it for yourself.
So if you're interested, click on that video because it's coming up right now.
I don't know.
