And this is how his staff had to hold him back because it was about to go off the rails there.

And this comes after the mass shooting. This comes after the police chief was exposed. for not being in the state. Listen to this. I have been here working as hard as I can for this city from the date I got here. You got that? No, no, you listen to me.

But there are reports that you are not in town often. There are reports are wrong. Let's go, man. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Thank you. I mean, when your staff has to escort you like that, they know you have problems already. Right? Like, they know, essentially, his staff, they know him. Like, they know what will trigger the police chief and they know how he will

react, which if they were not standing there, there probably would have been a physical confrontation. Think about that. Police chief, his first thought in his mind when he is confronted as a leader, is to reach for physical confrontation. A mark of a great leader is what? What's principle number two? Poise under pressure. Didn't seem poised to me. Doesn't seem poised to me. Okay. Let me show you what I mean when I say that they don't even know what's going on.

Last night we were told public is in no danger, nothing to worry about here. And then on the other hand, we hear that there is still a second suspect at large. How do you reconcile the two of those? Yeah, I think you may have been, you know, whenever there is a shooting and we're looking for suspects and that person is not in custody, there's always a danger. And so what we want to get out to the public is that the interior scene, what we call our inner perimeter, was secure. I believe that's the message that we were trying to get out. We had a second scene that was only cleared a couple of minutes before the actual press. And so we're trying to get information out as often as we can, but our focus is on the search for the suspect.

And so we will certainly, as a state of before. All right, principle number six of a great leader. You guys ready for it? Even if you don't know what the hell you're talking about, you better sound like you know what you're talking about. That was one of the biggest principles I learned in the military. You better be confident with your bullshit. You don't know what you're talking about. You better make me feel confident in how you are talking. He doesn't sound very confident to me.

And neither does the mayor. I'm going to show you her. I mean, she's a mess. were told yesterday there were no security cameras in the area where the shooting occurred like that be the case especially with such a major public matter I'm not sure whether camera placement are those video unit are probably at home sleep now we'll give me another second briefing this afternoon we'll better to answer that she I want to go back to 30 minutes you know we're gonna let the mayor answer the question I know

yeah I'll just say I've been told that Seattle Center does have cameras and we are in the process of pulling out footage to see if there's anything out of the Okay, excuse me. That is a major contradiction because that night of the shooting, they said that there were no cameras that were actually recording that area, these CCTV cameras. So which one is it exactly? We already know one suspect was arrested. And I don't know how you guys feel about CCTV overall. You know, some people obviously believe it is a violation of our privacy. And you can make a credible argument for that. I mean, how much should the government be allowed to essentially record every move that we are making? But let's just call it what it is. At this point, a lot of cases are being solved by people's ring cameras. I mean, we're under constant surveillance.

So it's not just CCTV. I mean, if you go into a neighborhood, I mean, half of the neighborhood, their ring cameras are catching you walking by their house. So I guess that's a separate thing. But my thing is if you're going to have a major event, this is. This is the main criticism, by the way. If you're going to have a major event, then you should have major security. And part of that security plan is surveillance. And I would think you would at least be surveilling vulnerable areas, entry points, exit points,

and, you know, where most of the attendees will be located. I mean, I think that's fair. The fact of on that, too, you know, the CCTV cameras have been a real talker. This could have happened in the stadium district and you decided to turn those off pending an audit. How do you feel now? The safety of the residents of Seattle is my highest responsibility and I take that very seriously. In the course that we charted on the CCTV cameras, which is a matter of public record, that means balancing various kinds of safety, safety for different communities.

And that is the motivation behind the person. Okay. Now what she's not saying, and the reporter, in my opinion, took it easy on her. is the reason why they shut off those CCTV cameras is because they thought, and guys, this is Madison all over again, Madison, Wisconsin. The woke individuals leading that city believes CCTV cameras are racist, essentially. They are oppressive. They are criminalizing people. They are actually dangerous to our society. And not dangerous in regards to our society as far as our privacy is concerned.

They go about it in a woke way. And because of an audit, they shut off certain CCTV cameras. Unfortunately, the ones they shut off is where the shooting occurred. You don't even have to be from Seattle to be irked by this, by the way. This is peak incompetence.

Excuse me. Let me show you the contradiction I was pointing to. This is not the police chief. I believe this is his deputy police chief. chief, maybe his assistant in the chain of command. That night, here's what he said about the cameras. So are there cameras here at Seattle Center that can be turned on? There are no cameras that I'm aware of that are posted where this shooting occurred. Wow. So no cameras posted

where the shooting was occurred. Do you have any video footage of the potential second shooter or suspect? No cameras at all? Yeah, it's bad guys. So as a reaction, what does the mayor decide to do? Well, direction from Governor Ferguson's office or from a LeJiapol's office to wait to do the press conference until they got to be. As soon as we coordinated with SPD and agreed that it was time to talk to the media, as soon as we knew that we were going to be doing that, I and Governor Ferguson and Congresswoman Jaya Paul arrived on the scene within minutes. So your kid's saying his office, metaphorically, did not tell you. No, absolutely not. What was the delay in the basics, the ABCs, the one, two, three, and what happened?

You have people running, you have people shot on the ground with bullet holes in their backs, covered in white sheets, and we are sitting there waiting, waiting, waiting. The only thing that we had was a tweet and people who were afraid and a lot of information on social media filling the vacuum. So why is it that citizens in the city of Seattle had to wait for almost five hours to get answers? It's something so serious that's made national headlines. Yeah, I mean, my office put out a statement at 830, which again, included an initial inaccuracy. So again, this speaks to the tension between providing information early and providing it accurately. So we, along with SPD, were trying to manage that tension and we got information out to you all as soon as we possibly could.

Okay. Guys, you don't have to be an expert on emergency response or mass shootings to know exactly what step number one is. Usually it's shelter in place. Shelter and place order immediately. The first statement out of that damn office should have been shelter in place. Do not travel. Take cover. Principle number one in the military.

You start taking enemy fire. Take cover. Don't shoot first. Guys, I mean, I don't have all the answers, okay? I'm not, you know, the smartest guy in the room. But I'm not an idiot, man. A lot of this is common sense. Mayors, cities, states, events, corporations, organizations, they've been doing this for

least 100 years. Principle number one, take cover. That should have been the immediate statement, five to ten minutes after the shooting came out. And you know how I know this? Austin does that. When there was a shooting recently, this was about three weeks ago, immediately they issued a shelter in place. Immediately. They didn't wait. And I don't understand why they didn't do that. And I also don't understand. And here's the other thing. Well, you know, we don't want to release a statement and be inaccurate. Release a statement saying, We're waiting for more information. That's not being inaccurate.

Okay. I don't know. I think a lot of this is common sense. I don't think it's that complicated. And again, principle number two, you've got to be poised under pressure. She's not. So, and because she's not, will her team be? Of course not.

Five hours. That's how long it took them to finally sit down with the media and tell them what's going on. Five hours. What were they doing for five hours? in the shit? I mean, come on. I mean, the criticisms are well deserved. There's no doubt about that. And the police chief, he wasn't there when his city needed them. He deserves all of the criticism. You may say, well, DeVore, I mean, can you cut him a break? That's the burden of being a leader. You don't get breaks. You're held to the highest standard. You don't meet that standard. You're

cooked. That's essentially what it is. That's why not everybody should be a leader. It's that clear. So share your thoughts in the comments section below to this update out of Seattle. No, they cannot technically prevent a mass shooting or a tragedy, but they can respond accordingly. And that's something I believe they had failed to do in this particular situation.
