hello this is nigel from the tony cornage show and you're listening to the digression session did i say that right do i get paid now can i leave well mike finazzo hello josh huh as we speak casually to each other in the microphones well it's uh our first podcast post election and uh i hate the gloat but we called it yep nailed it tell you what you listen that last podcast we did before this one and uh we recorded it before the election results like as the results were trickling in and uh even before that even before we knew any any results that had trickled in we pretty much called it you know a lot of a lot of pundits are like oh nobody saw this coming check out the dig sesh i will say that uh i don't usually listen to the podcast when i'm on it

like every episode like yeah like i'll listen like i listen to the one where like you talked out of ferrara because i couldn't go uh-huh and that was like fun just because it was like i felt like i was listening to a real podcast right it was like it was like i listened to it as like a fan or whatever yeah and uh i listened to the election one just because i wanted to hear what we sounded like real smart and uh it's interesting because the whole time i'm listening to myself yeah and i was way less hopeful than you were oh yeah i'd even said at one point like even if she wins like america's a piece of shit there's so many racists and assholes out oh yeah yeah and that came even more true than i thought but then it was so eerie that the do you remember the last

line of the podcast was yeah didn't i give a shout out to our new overlord, Trump? Yeah, and I cackled at that. So even then, I'm just like, ah, this is silly. That's crazy. And look where we are now. Yeah, it was real bad. Yeah, so we did the podcast, and then I went and picked Karen up from the train station because we were joking like, oh, you should come up and watch the results coming to you. We'll watch the end of the world.

Ha, ha, ha. oh you should come up and watch the results coming to you watch the end of the world ha ha and uh so we went and got dinner and uh we're hanging out at this bar and the tvs are on and uh the vibe just started getting like sadder and sadder as results quickly yeah like real quick because yeah i think i think by the time we left maybe around like nine like florida was already leaning or it was like way too close and virginia was really close and then i was just like what the fuck is happening even like because everything i had listened to up until then i've listened to like a million i was listening to like a like a million like presidential election podcast like yeah keeping it 1600 i listened to the young turks a lot right there's like a lot of good stuff out there and a lot of it's just like analytical in terms of the numbers so funny just keep going you're like npr

yeah you know others no but i just i like to listen to a lot of podcasts that are more about the statistics of everything and not just like you know partisan politics right oh right right even like young turks were saying like you know she's gonna probably lose florida we're gonna freak out at first but she'll get colorado she'll get michigan and wisconsin yeah but there was something about i was watching the cnn coverage even though it grosses me out in some ways but like that was that was on it but just because it's the quickest like they get the quickest numbers coming in and the way they were talking about florida was just so weird where they're freaking out saying all right she's down 160 000 votes but uh there's still these two counties

they're 60 in uh she can make up this difference we'll give it a little bit i yeah uh i think uh yeah so then we came home and we were watching i think cbs and they had like the whole roundtable thing and the thing that really pissed me off was the opposite of that. They're like, wow, this is very historic for Mr. Trump. Wow. Who saw this coming? Like Gail, Oprah's chick Gail was like, you got to give it to him. Like, no, this is terrible.

Why is everybody? It's just, it was weird to hear like CNN quickly just go into panic mode. Yeah. And same with like MSNBC. I was flipping back and forth between a bunch of them and uh but even like fox who is so obviously pro trump and created him right they're just like holy shit yeah like wow this is fucking happening except for megan kelly who i do find reasonable and hates him oh Oh, totally. It's just like, what is happening? This is terrible. Yeah, well, welcome to the podcast, everybody. How are you? We did just jump right into it.

We just jumped right into it. Yeah, because I don't think we've seen each other since the last podcast. So, yeah, I hope everybody's doing well in this post-election era. Yeah, man, I was fucking bummedmed out uh yeah i called out of work the next day i was like i just i don't feel good yeah and uh my boss like i got it i get it it's like all right you're like i also work for the federal government so i might not have sick days yeah exactly i might be in the work camp soon anyway um but uh yeah man it's it's been uh it's been a fucking mess to watch and like i know we're a comedy podcast that is we talk about politics a good amount but it's so fucking

uh so the uh it's just uh soundcloud uh it's just been so weird man seeing like everything that's going down and reading how like i think it was yesterday trump was in india and he was basically making business deals and it's clear that his business is going to increase because he's the president-elect like he's already so many ethical lines are being crossed oh and the shit with uh avanka sitting in on diplomat foreign diplomat meeting what it's my daughter she's very smart interest there was a great uh washington post article about how um uh diplomats and foreign uh leaders are going to feel pressure to stay in his hotels because it's right by the white house and why not give him business right it's just a fucking mess yeah and it's like well he's not

going to be in control of the businesses it's like but his kids are and then when he's done he gets to come back to it and then so he's going to reap the benefits anyway it's like but his kids are and then when he's done he gets to come back to it and then so he's gonna reap the benefits anyway it's such a fucking mess um and uh like the people he's appointing and stuff that he's floating like this week where he floated the idea or had like one of his surrogates float the idea of a reggie yeah right yeah so it was a registry for muslims coming into the presidents yeah the guy cited a precedent as uh japanese internment camps that we had in this country which was like oh yeah those were great that's not a blight on the american past um keep that going and i really do genuinely think because it's funny how he won the election in part because they took his twitter away the last week or whatever yeah and he he has not been shy about

tweeting this week since being elected uh but i really do think this whole hamilton thing he's doing it to take attention away from his uh fraud settlement oh yeah 25 million dollars 25 and a one million dollar penalty for running an illegal university to the state of new york that's amazing and i love it's like hillary's crooked oh yeah the emails man yeah yeah she had aol and uh she was a real bitch about it yeah that that is what's bothered me not just since the election but for months before the election is this bullshit false equivalency that's like well they're both crooked i know i hated that no who's i tell you what whoever wins we lose i'm like yeah that's not exactly how it works i don't think they're equal either uh yeah

it's just it's been really shitty i've uh i have been having fun though i've been opening with uh uh this joke where sometimes it goes well sometimes it doesn't i'm like how's everybody doing man it's it's a tough time right like it's a weird vibe in the country it's dark scary times a woman almost became president oh bullet dodged huh that'll kill this weekend in harrisburg yeah yeah so uh and it might not get the laughs you wanted yeah i know they're like exactly like right yeah um so it's it's been fun to like joke around but like the first night after the election i uh you did ragtime i did yeah i hosted a ragtime and uh this this uh room in arlington and there were like 12 people there and it just felt like a funeral

in there and i was so i was hosting so you have to be the one that goes up it's like yeah how's everybody doing like and it's like yeah like are we feeling bummed out like what's what's going on and everybody's just quiet one guy just goes yeah it's like all right okay that's actually kind of a relief it was really funny he's like duh yeah um so it's it's been a little better um i did uh if i can make this personal to me um i uh i did a couple spots on friday night and uh i did chinese disco uh one of kurt shackleford's rooms in georgetown and that was a lot of fun it was like really good crowd and then i did big hunt which is in dupont circle in dc and uh that that room's a little bit tighter as far as like politics goes and being like pc and all that stuff and uh i i opened with that that hillary joke went fine and then of course like i

i make fun of trump and it's clear that like i'm just being sarcastic and then uh i was i was uh gonna start this bit where i talk about i'm like oh i think my girlfriend's smarter than me and then i go to tell the story like yeah so i'm walking down the street with my chick and this white girl in the third row she just rolls her eyes and she goes oh chick she's everything that's fucking wrong with america exactly that's why trump's the fucking president it's part of it no i really do think that that's a big part of it it's absolutely we're so fucking overly pc that we've become immune to when somebody's actually a fucking scumbag right that's why i played about everything

i just wanted to be like we have such bigger fish to fry you know what the fuck i'm talking about so like it just made me even more mad and i just even leaned in i was like yeah you're right you're right it's not right i should say uh i was like, yeah, you're right. You're right. It's not right. I should say. I was like, yeah, no, I should use the right word. So I'm walking down the street with my bitch. And it's like just went the Andrew Dice Clay. But it's just like, you know what I mean? Like I was setting up that like the whole joke too is that like I'm dumb.

Yeah. And I say and I don't say chick. It's not. It's like chicken. It's like it's almost a silly thing to say. It was like used in the 70s. just bothered me so much and like guys like you could tell what side i'm on and i wasn't like if the joke wasn't even like man women are dumb so anyway i'm walking down the street my chick it's like and so i like as i was just going back and forth or going back and forth with her for a little bit and i was like it's like no you're right i was walking down the street with uh my girlfriend i don't know if she's a girl i don't know i don't see gender how could you and so i was like fucking around like obviously we're equal um and then uh i was closing out and uh i was trying to wrap up my set and like the crowd was already kind of like rowdy and stuff and i was just like god damn like why like maybe i should have just kept going but that just annoyed me so much because it's like guys we need to focus on what's important here like you know like why are we parsing words here we're on the same side right um and then so i'm trying to like get back momentum and close and uh and uh it's like oh the white girl with her arms closed

is not gonna like this joke and uh her white boyfriend goes why she gotta be white i'm like because she is what are you talking about what you're like shut up vanilla face hey puddin i i just like what what is going on yeah it's shit like that that drives me crazy and i think like going back to like the like overly pc culture that's created trump it's like remember it was only four years ago where mitt romney made the gaffe of binders full of women yeah and people went ape shit about it yeah and even then i was just like i mean i don't think he's a misogynist like like i think he said something stupid it was just like you were just kind of looking for stuff to be like ah you messed up and it's stuff like that where we build up things like that or we build up a comedian and a comedy club to where it's like

it's made the right say oh well there's just pussy liberals are just triggered by anything and it makes these guys that are now like feeling empowered not not so much like the way to the to the right of like people like that asshole in starbucks it was like trump trump but it makes people feel like when they're voting and they see a guy that's like so quote unquote speaking his mind they're like yeah see i'm tired of being like told i'm an asshole just because i use like one word and incorrectly or whatever right and i think like especially like with comedy it's like you and i aren't really offensive comedians no and it's like that the fact that we have to worry about this shit and i didn't even think it was a thing the fact that she took umbrage with chick i was like what like like i

could get it if i was being like extremely flip and i was like yeah me and my fucking bitch are walking down like i'm not like that's not that gash between her legs yeah so me and my fucking bitch are walking down. Like, I'm not like that's not. With that gash between her legs. Yeah, so me and my slit, we're walking down the street, see? And she was on her period. Yeah. Because you know how broads are. And I was talking to a few people there of just like how annoyed i was like daylon morrison very funny there that was actually a drop we have a button for that noise yeah can i get a soundboard uh but he's like no man it's just people like outrage is a personality for some people it's like yeah it's exactly that's a really good way to put it it's exactly what it was it's like now we can just be on a team you know it's like no no that's wrong it's like uh just what her boyfriend goes why she got to be white i'm like i'm looking at her right you're white what

do you what are you talking about so stupid god. God damn, it was really, really dumb. So I get it, like, everybody's on edge and feels like we need to, like, be very protective. But it's like, just focus on what's being said. Right. Focus on, like, the bigger things. Like, God damn, that was, whew, that was annoying. So, of course, like, that mic starts at 1130, and I think I went on, like, close to 12. And then I came home around, like, 1 one and i was like and karen was sleeping and i like woke her up and i was like

you're not gonna believe what happened and she's like it's okay um so i think i'm i'm almost over it maybe i don't know it's not very real to you now it's very i was just so annoyed yeah i it was one of those things maybe i should just kept going You're also gun shy too because you've had two incidences in that room. In that room, yeah. A woman accused me of being racist and tweeted to the venue that stereotypes kill. I was like, what? Was that on a Lost episode? Yeah, I think it was.

And I was the middle act. And the host made a comment that somebody in the audience was a Coke dealer. And one of my jokes, I talk about Coke. And I go, yeah, it was this guy. And I wasn't sure who the host was talking about, and one of my jokes uh i talk about coke and i go yeah it was this guy and i wasn't sure who the host was talking about who he said the coke dealer was he just said his name was conrad and uh and i asked the host before i went up i was like who's conrad he's like oh you'll know when you see him and so i thought it was this like nicely dressed like this dude this asian dude that was dressed real nice he had gel in his hair looked like real slick so

it could be a coke dealer like high class and i was like and i was like yeah this guy like conrad you're conrad right and uh he just points behind him to this dude that has like a gold necklace on it was like very nonchalant put up the peace sign i was like oh okay that makes sense you're conrad and then so i was joking around with him and then his white girlfriend got up to complain that I was being racist. And she told the host Dylan, she's like, this guy is just being offensive. And like, you know, the jokes that you were making were fine. And it's like I was making literally just the same joke. Like my joke wasn't it wasn't like an overt stereotype.

It was just somebody in the audience had been identified as a Coke dealer that was the joke i was calling back to it so that couple and even when they were complaining conrad himself was like it's not a big deal man it's just a comedy show and because it's usually never the person that should be offended right and and then so he was and then after they were done complaint or after the they were done talking to Dylan, they were walking away. And even the guy turned around when his girlfriend wasn't looking and looked at Dylan and gave him across the neck, cut it out like it's no big deal, man. Right, right. And then so a woman saw these two leave. So she tweeted at the venue on behalf of them.

It was like, I was really looking forward to a night of comedy. Instead, offensive and stereotypical jokes forced a couple to leave and then she ended it with stereotypes kill like kill what are you talking about like oh what like an overreact oh my god i couldn't believe it that's part of the problem with like the over like pc nature and comedy is like every attempt at a joke or even misfired a joke is going to be turned into somebody's michael richards yeah yeah like not what it's everything's a 10 out of 10 like right out of the gate like no here's 19 reasons why that is probably also shame on her for because i think you told me this like her tweet was like three

minutes into your set or something yeah so it's like she didn't even give you a chance for con no she was just excited there was a controversy she saw a couple leave and then she was like oh that's my opportunity to strike and try to uh reset the balance here it's like no you what uh anyway um yeah it's like so there was a woman offended on behalf of a woman that was offended for a guy that was never offended yeah and that was the whole fucking cycle so uh so yeah i get that everybody's like really sensitive now but it's like come on man just focus on what's fucking important but back to mit romney it's it's like it's funny now that he might be secretary of state is that what they're talking about yeah apparently he basically interviewed for that i guess you'd say or was vetted for that right and like that's weird to me one i lose a little respect for mitt romney because he was like one

of the few republicans that was just opposed to trump from the beginning and stuck to that yeah but then on the other hand i'm like i'm mildly relieved that mitt romney might be in his cap that's what i'm saying that's where you're like that's the point we've gotten yeah exactly to where it's like oh oh, man, no. Mitt Romney, Jesus Christ, is president. But now that he's Secretary of State, you're like, okay. All right. And Bill Maher made a great point about this.

This is the Democrats' fault in a lot of ways. Totally. To where we made Mitt Romney out to be the devil. When it's like, really, Mitt Romney's a good man. And Mitt Romney's somebody I don't agree with. He's not the devil. He wouldn't have ruined the country. Yeah, there's just disagreements.

He was just obviously a little more conservative. He's a Reagan Republican. And economically would not have been good for the country. Right. But a smart guy, good guy. Yeah, smart guy, qualified for the job. But even with John McCain, it's like as much of an idiot as Sarah Palin was. It's like I don't think anybody could deny that John McCain is a good man

that's worked both sides of the aisle. He was never the enemy. Right. But it's like we shit on these guys so much that by the time Trump came along it's like oh let's just that's what the devil that's what each side does they just shit on the other yeah and um i think nobody took that this guy's the devil seriously no way yeah because that's what we say like oh mccain or uh romney he put his dog on top of his car he's the devil you know like yeah if trump would have done do you remember that that was like a big thing no they went on like vacation or something like that i thought

you were just no pairing up to clark griswold no no mitt romney no like literally told that story where they put like their lab on top of the van in like a little like cargo thing or i guess they put his kennel on top of the van and like drove somewhere and that was the big issue and like can you imagine if trump today's like i don't give a fuck i'll put like 10 dogs up there and everybody be like yeah he does what he wants i do think that like the one positive that i've seen out of like the last two weeks is that people are actually talking about his cabinet appointees it's like i don't feel like this process is normally talked about after a president wins, or at least it's not covered. Screwed last as much.

Yeah, and not that Obama was picking KKK members to be able to say. Yeah, well, they celebrated him too, right? Right. Yeah, David Duke is crazy on Twitter about Obama. But at least people are having the conversation and saying Jeff know jeff sessions is not a good guy he should not be the attorney general you need to you know call your senate

senators and congressmen about this yeah like that's that's great um but it's just so alarming and it amazes me how just the other side doesn't see it at all or care yeah like i i tried to it's too long to tweet but it was like i was making did you hear about the pepsi story no so there was a which is another like major issue there was a fake news story about how the ceo of pepsi shit on trump after he won and trump supporters started this big campaign of we need to ban Pepsi based on a fake story. Yeah. Yeah. And even like some lady like tweeted at me about it because that's like a new thing Trump supporters do.

Oh, I want to get into this. Oh, yeah. I'm sure they're listening. But Trump supporters just put in Trump and then anybody who like shits on them, like they just start tweeting at and trolling. What if your Trump's uh your trump haters start liking me like oh he said chick this guy gets it sure you already lost some of your other um if they saw the pants you were wearing they would not like you're talking about my red white and blue geek that i'm queer by that are you talking about yeah exactly how dare you um

but um yes this lady starts like like tweeting at me and arguing about the Pepsi, like boycotting Pepsi. Right. And I just sent her a news article that was CBS saying, the article was basically Trump supporters outraged over fake news story. Yeah. And her response was, I don't trust CBS. They were biased to Hillary Clinton. What are you talking about? Yeah. What are you talking about? Yeah.

What are you talking about? I'm like, that's not how news works. Even if they are biased, they're not going to lie. Yeah. It still has to be facts included in the story. So anyway, so these Trump supporters are literally outraged over a fake story. Also, Trump supporters are outraged over the cast of hamilton yeah giving one of the most eloquent speeches that was couldn't have been more respectful as donald trump uh defined it

as harassment of harass did you see his tweets about it this morning no he went on another run this morning what does he do in the mornings like 6 a.m he tweets about hamilton is that like is that like his time where everybody's asleep and he has to creep in and grab his phone? He's like, ooh. He probably is not even sleeping. It's like Christmas for him. He's like, I can't wait to get up and tweet some bullshit.

But he's been tweeting stuff about his supporters are boycotting Hamilton as if they could afford a ticket. Or they were going to go anyway. Or if they knew what it was yeah before now yeah um meanwhile they're outraged by a fake story people using free speech yeah to basically what it should be like if anybody's like go watch the hamilton clip if you haven't seen it because like that's actually everything that's great about this country yeah you're supposed to be able to have a discourse. Exactly.

And the guy told the audience not to boo the vice president. Yeah, it was very, it was like, I see that you're trying to leave. We just want to say something. It wasn't like, hey, fascist, listen up. Hey, fuck face. So anyway, they're worried about this. Meanwhile, the dude they elected

just paid out 25 million dollars for a fraud federal fraud and they don't care they make jokes about it like this is trump change and stuff like that yeah wow it's clever because it's a pun wow so yeah go ahead so it's like they'll get worked up about this stuff just because it's from the left even if they're not saying it yeah like what their actual guy is doing they're just like oh well you know we all have our flaws yeah well i was just listening to ari shafir's podcast with shane moss uh and shane does like a lot of uh research into like the the cognitive processes of the brain and there's actually i don't know

what the bias is called but i think it's confirmation bias i'm not positive but it's like you've already made your mind up about something right it's just reiterating so you just ignore whatever it's like it's like hillary's crooked it's like okay well here's something very crooked this guy cheated people this is a fake university he paid out all this money and they're like yeah but you know we all make mistakes well also even now it's like hillary's not the president or not going to be the president spoiler alert oh my god if you guys t-vote the election they're waiting until thanksgiving break to watch well there's petitions going around asking the electoral college to i don't know

summon the devil and make hillary president which i signed it's not going to do anything but i think it's good to have us all on a list so we could we can be find each other in the gulag yeah yeah um so now we could all be victims of trumpism uh-huh but uh oh what was i gonna say sorry okay no it's okay but no with the uh like confirmation bias uh if cnn tweets out an article about trump's 25 million dollar payout yeah there's at least you know a few dozen tweets about yeah well at least uh wiki leaks didn't you know release these emails it's like well guess what it's not about her being crooked anymore it's about is your guy not a piece of shit and obviously he is and he's gonna be the president like obviously a fucking uh liar and cheat um and it's it's so amazing too

like the the amount of like neo-nazi shit that's coming out like support him and stuff like the videos you see of uh people just like chanting trump uh there's. So there's one in Starbucks where like a guy was upset with his order. Which they made a rallying cry. The Trump supporters. Yeah, which is crazy. Yeah, it's so amazing. Like, yeah, boycott Starbucks.

Like, okay, good. But you know how they're boycotting Starbucks? Oh, they're using a different name, right? Going to Starbucks and saying your name is Trump. So basically you're boycotting Starbucks by spending money at Starbucks. Yeah, still spending that amount of money. If I worked at Starbucks, I'd be spelling Trump wrong just to irritate them. Yeah, add an F on it, Trump.

But people are using it as like an epithet of like just being like trump trump like i saw a video on uh uh a really good redeemable news source on instagram it's called world star hip-hop i don't know if you follow i i'm aware yeah of course yeah it's it's a great great great outlet and uh there's the these two dudes and they're in a car. And they're in traffic. And this guy has his camera on and he has his camera pointed out at a car. And he's like, this fucking bitch. This fucking bitch right here just threw all this coffee all over my fucking car. And she gets out of her car because I guess she can see that they're filming.

And she's like, hi, my name is. And like says her name into the camera. She's like, good, get my name. Because you were acting like a fucking dickhead i don't know what happened but when she walks away goes like you lost bitch trump trump you got to get out of here trump like wow wow awesome and that's like i don't like i genuinely don't think that there are 60 million racist out there no i do think that there are a lot of people that enabled racism and let this happen and are okay with racism yeah they held their nose and yeah it's amazing to me they're

And I think my favorite one, it's these two accounts that have a combined three followers that just keep like literally whenever i tweet something now or when i even don't like the other day i woke up to five tweets from them and it's as much as i think they're pathetic like i really do appreciate the commitment yeah and they don't follow me so like they must like have me bookmarked or have like a google alert or something yeah they have their notifications on absolutely um but yeah like i woke up to like a tweet the other day that was like you're a poor man's brian posse with lita donov's comedic timing and i was like i actually don't take that as that much of an insult okay i

like brian posse and lita donov the the first season back like that's not bad um that's okay i think the first season of girls is pretty good it's all right i mean she's kind of annoying for sure but um comedic timing of lena dunham yeah and then like um like one of them was like why don't you try to be funny again except trying to be rachel maddow and it's like i like rachel maddow she's pretty cool just all these like high pit i like her she's pretty cool.
