Starting point is 00:00:00 All right? What you've been up to? Obviously, you can't get back to me about that, but you could if you wanted to, if you wanted to send me a little message and say, oh, what are you doing? I mean, this is what I'm doing, what are you doing? And then I'll tell you what, I will not get back to you.
Starting point is 00:00:19 So it's a waste of time. I've been making more podcasts because I've got a desk. If you listen to the same episode, you know I've got a desk now. hear that good quality wood in fact it's not good quality wood it's actually a bit shit that's by the buy um i'm doing lots of twitching shout out to my twitch fam um just generally doing what you can do when music is cancelled not in any kind of sort of music's done something very very naughty
Starting point is 00:00:55 more like music's just cancelled because of the virus which in it itself in and of itself is a naughty naughty virus i've been twitching i've been discording i've been if you don't know what this is you're too old all right i didn't know what it is because i'm too old i had to google it and run some people teach me what to do and now i am a god of it um and uh because of like the patreon see that seamless plug seamless plug because of the patreon because of the patreon I've been doing more podcasts. You've got this early if you're on the Patreon. Don't share it.
Starting point is 00:01:34 It's a secret club. And if I sell you t-shirts now, it's going to seem like too much. You're going to start hating me. So all I'll say is, if you want to tell me what you've been up to, like, you know, when I said what you've been up to and you couldn't reply, you could go to www. The Downbeat. So it spells downbeat.
Starting point is 00:01:57 And there's a little contact button. You could be like, you know what I'm up to? My dog's shit on the carpet and I'm cleaning it up. See you later. Whoa, what's this? There's a cool T-shirt here. Maybe I'll just pick that up while I'm there. My guest this week is Andrew DeGiorio,
Starting point is 00:02:15 aka Drew York, of unbelievable, maybe my favorite band on earth, stray from the path. he's the singer of that band that really cool band and he's moved to France during a pandemic
Starting point is 00:02:38 for love for how do you say jeetam no it means I love whatever whatever love is in French and we talk about that talk about what he's doing in lockdown talk about European
Starting point is 00:02:52 like European honesty which is a thing. Working out in lockdown. The funniest thing, the funniest situation has ever happened on the podcast, happened on this episode. We're both crying, laughing. Honestly, maybe,
Starting point is 00:03:11 it's up there with Sam's in terms of, like, my funniest episode. I had the most fun. I hope you enjoy it. It's, oh, no, wait. I have, when I, I've got a special jingle for you. So what I'm going to do, I'm going to do the original jingle. and then it's going to, if you didn't watch, listen, watch, listen, fuck, fuck.
Starting point is 00:03:31 If you haven't listened to the last Drew episode, the man is like a jingle man. If you don't know what that means, then you've got to listen to that one. But when I asked him for his microphone test, because obviously we did this remotely, he sent me just him being mental as his sort of test of the microphone, and I said, I'm going to use that as the jingle. So you're going to get my jingle, and then you're going to get Drew. jingle and then you're going to get the actual podcast. It's Drew York, Andrew DeGiorio, on the Downbeat podcast.
Starting point is 00:04:17 Everybody, welcome to the Downbeat. More like walk around, get your fucking ass beat, downbeat, downbeat, ass beat. They call me Mr. Sunshine. Where are your Solay rays? Solerese? Wow, it's like we're at band practice. That's the closest thing we're going to get to it there, Craigie. Do you know what's funny about that?
Starting point is 00:04:46 The listeners will not know that you made that joke, and then we had to re-record this, and I stole the joke. And I hope they laughed and went, ha, ha, ha, ha, that was funny. Well, guess what? It wasn't my fucking joke. The listeners, the listeners don't even know that we just freaky Fridayed them. Yeah, it's freaky fucking, what day is it?
Starting point is 00:05:06 Definitely not Friday. When is that? Yeah. is Wednesday, but that's crazy, man. There was, going back to, what day? There was like a week, like, recently where I was like, I felt like a Monday. It was like a Saturday. I was like, what the fuck?
Starting point is 00:05:24 I'm like that every day. Yeah, it's crazy. It's crazy. I'm like, I'll have a day where I'm like, I feel like getting fucked up tonight. And then it's Monday. Yeah, but nothing's real. Oh, yeah, I know. I do it.
Starting point is 00:05:38 But then you get that just the next day. you just get a little pang of, I shouldn't be feeling like this on Tuesday. Yeah, I guess so. But you know what? If you feel like getting fucked up on a Monday and get fucked up on a Monday, every day is like a weekend, so, you know.
Starting point is 00:05:52 Kind of feel like getting fucked up on a Wednesday. I'll tell you that. I kind of feel like pouring myself a glass of wine and finishing this coffee later. I mean, okay, let's talk about, you've got a lovely cup of coffee there. Yeah, okay. What beans you got?
Starting point is 00:06:07 What beans you rocking? Well, you know, like I said before on my Instagram, I reached out saying, oh, you know, what kind of coffee are, is everyone fucking with drinking, you know, blah, blah, blah. Because I wanted to order some nice beans here in Europe. And everyone responded, you included, saying, the barn in Berlin, the barn, the barn, the barn. So I was like, fuck it. I was going to subscribe for like the two or three bags per month, but I'm going to wait until I come back to do that. But I ordered my first bag of the bar and beans. And, you know, before this podcast, given, you know, you're such a coffee enthusiast, I grounded some beans up, made a nice French press, and here we are.
Starting point is 00:06:52 So, cheers. Cheers to you, my friend. I already had my coffee. Now it's too late for me to have another coffee. So I've got this boring, the boring time of day. where I just have like four hours of water. Yeah. I know.
Starting point is 00:07:10 I can't have a beer yet. Yeah. It's like it's too early. But all right. I'm going to, I'm going to start from the beginning of what you said because my question for you is what's your coffee cut off? Like what's your hour of like I can't have a coffee because,
Starting point is 00:07:27 A, it's fucking ridiculously late and I'll be up or like you're just, it doesn't work out with your. routine of the day. I like to think that it's like three o'clock. Yeah, I'm pushing it. But, but I've pretty much discovered it doesn't fucking matter. If I'm not going to sleep, my body will override anything. Yeah, that's true.
Starting point is 00:07:53 That's true. If I'm going to like, I could have no caffeine all day. In fact, when I tried, when everyone was like, oh, you should, I mean, I cut out caffeine completely and I never slept better. I like, do me a favor. Shut the fuck up. I slept the worst I'd ever slept in my life. And if you think about it on tour,
Starting point is 00:08:12 I sleep like a fucking baby on tour. And we have a Red Bull every single night at about fucking 9.45 PM, which is like three coffees. That's facts. And I sleep fine in that bunk. As long as it's a bunk, I sleep fine. I would love to sleep in a bunk right now.
Starting point is 00:08:30 Like, have my little, like, play like a sick show. you know like on tour with the boys whoever that may be and just like be like main support already showered already had a little buzz going on everyone's vibing on the bus and then just close the curtain and then just put on something hit my pen that's it wake up in the next city next country man now it's now this is getting depressing well i mean no why you have to bring it down to that no because it's like it's good to think about that stuff it's good to it's good to like it's good to like you know, think about and be like, fuck, like, I'm thankful for those moments
Starting point is 00:09:08 even when, you know, you get week three and you just want to fucking murder everybody. But, you know, I find myself doing that, thinking of things that maybe I took for granted, but it's all good and fun. Yeah. In like weird places, do you know what? You know what's weird?
Starting point is 00:09:25 In the new flat, which I'm in right now, the... Look at that purple lighting too. That's so sick. Oh, man. That's fucking great. Big down beat sign. Yeah, I love that.
Starting point is 00:09:39 I can't wait to come over and fucking do hijinks. Fucking get raging. Yeah. But the... Your face when you said that. Fucking, that's rage. The shower here, I got the same shower head as the Roundhouse.
Starting point is 00:09:55 No way. It's like the waterfally thing. Roundhouse is my favorite shower on Earth. So the other day I was showering and I was like, I've felt these beads before. Where have I felt these beads? I love a good bead. Roundhouse.
Starting point is 00:10:09 The beads of water. It's not as big or as like slate marble, but it's the same shower head. And I was like, oh, I missed the roundhouse. Well, congrats on the new place. I'm sure it's dope. I mean, it looks dope from what you sent me previously. How are you finding buying material in this COVID where everything is completely on backwater? Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:31 I'm going to show you my wardrobe now, okay, which is in front of me. using as a wardrobe, which I'm pretty sure was previously repurposed from in zombie films when they need to like disinfect people. You ready? Yeah. Oh my. That looks like you are like quarantined. Like, nope, don't go in there.
Starting point is 00:10:53 If you go near him, you're going to get like, that's what I could get. Nuclear fucking waste all over you. Because of Brexit. That's all I could get. There's nothing in IKEA. I finally managed to order one and it's not coming until February. That's crazy. I have a funny story. When Elody and I bought this place, we, we, she had come and seen it because I wasn't able to get into the country. So whatever. At this point, we were shopping for a house, you know, via FaceTime and pictures. So whatever. She picked a great house. I love it. It's awesome. But the people took the stuff in the closet that built like the shelves and stuff. stuff like nothing everything was gutted like is that normal built built built in
Starting point is 00:11:40 wardrobes yeah like we we had to build in our own but you could see like where they had their shelves because of like the stain from the paint and like even where they had the holes drilled but every closet i'm talking both bedrooms and are like uh like our little walking type of thing everything was gutted is that normal so they usually are this is a fucking thrilling podcast. They're usually, it's like fixtures and fittings. And if you want them to keep anything, you have to specify it like curtain rails and shit like that.
Starting point is 00:12:18 You have to just say, could you keep these? Or if it's like built-in wardrobes, there'll be like, we've got built-in wardrobes. Do you want to give us an extra £200 for them? Right. And then it's up to you to say it. So it might have just been one of those things.
Starting point is 00:12:34 things. Yeah, I just, anytime I've rented an apartment or live somewhere, I take my clothes out and go, all right, well, you can have that. I'm not taking everything apart. But that's because you and I are not hoarders. Like, oh, I better keep this shelf. I've got good memories there. Well, like as a bit of a fucking hoarder.
Starting point is 00:12:53 I'm going to stop you right there. I save some bubble wrap because I, I know why. But, like, trying to explain it in the moment, it would have sounded insane. So now I have bubble wrap that I saved. And she's like... Yeah, but is that for shipping other stuff? Or you have a fucking emotional attachment to the bubble wrap? I just, it was the first time I've seen it here in France.
Starting point is 00:13:16 And I wanted to maybe get a little going, you know? Literally nothing practical about it. You just want to fucking pop it. That is fucking insane. Yeah. So that was... Hang on, you better. You might as well.
Starting point is 00:13:33 sort of discover discover? You might as well let people discover why the fuck are you in France? What's the deal? Oh yeah. All right. So I live in France now. Bonjour. Bonjour. Sava?
Starting point is 00:13:48 But no. No. No, I'm not actually. I seriously need help. Seriously not, Zava. It's okay not to be Sada. Holy shit. I just, I can't. Oh, my God. That's really funny. So I, yeah, so I live in France now. My girl and I bought a place here. She is French.
Starting point is 00:14:19 And yeah, it was, I'll tell you what, man, we picked the fucking right time to buy a place and, you know, try to start our life together. And by right time, I mean, fucking wrong time. Because everything has been working against us. And I know, you know, what's going on in the world. You know, it's my problems, you know, are personal to me, just like everyone else has their stuff. And it's a very, very minuscule problem. But when you're dealing with it, dealing with the consulate and the embassy and the airlines
Starting point is 00:15:00 and every single person is just redirecting you somewhere else. Like, basically, she did about 50 pages of paperwork to get me, like, approval from the country of France. And basically, this organization called Love is Not Tourism. It's like a petition for people in the same situation as us that have been together but weren't allowed to cross the borders because they weren't married, et cetera, et cetera. So months later, after this 50 pages of paperwork are submitted and she's losing her mind over all this, they send us a piece of paper. It basically just has my passport information on it.
Starting point is 00:15:51 And then it just says in French that I'm allowed to go. So I get to JFK and now I'm coming, you know, the house has been bought. I had my piece of paper and at JFK, they just look at it. Like I'm thinking I'm going to be full on question, searched, checked, temperature, all this crazy nonsense. I had my negative PSR test with me, so that's all good. And, you know, I'm nervous about the whole thing. I'm nervous about COVID.
Starting point is 00:16:24 I'm nervous about whether or not I'm going to be able to get here. And the woman at JFK looks and goes, okay, you're good. And I went, like, she was looking at my boarding pass. I was like, like, just go. Like, just go into the security now. Like, that's it. She's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're good. I'm like, oh, what?
Starting point is 00:16:46 So obviously. Yeah, but was it tougher when you got to France? No. Nobody even looked at that piece of paper. I remember, I don't know if you remember, but we had a conversation, you and I a couple months back, I think when I first got here and like I was, you know, I was just like stoked that I was here. All they did was look at my negative PSR test and take a white dot and put it on my passport. So like at each checkpoint, they had just seen that I was able to like enter the next part
Starting point is 00:17:15 of the airport. And then typical standard procedure at the customs, but look at you, you know, take your hat off, whatever. And then, all right, good, stamp the passport. No questions, nothing. But, you know, that was the second time. The first time that I went, I basically snuck into France through Croatia. And, like, that was the same thing. Like, I had nothing.
Starting point is 00:17:43 I had nothing with me. And they just let me go. I mean, it's crazy. I think it's because you're American. They were like this, because you look, you look so fucking, you look like a fucking sweet little rock star. They went, well, this guy's obviously a fucking cool, a cool cat. I'm going to let this guy in.
Starting point is 00:18:07 Well, I think through when her and I went to Croatia and we were not sure, basically the plan was, long story short, we hadn't seen each other in almost four months, I think it was. So we found out that Americans were able to fly to Croatia. So we booked a week in Croatia in Dubrovnik, which is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. And I highly recommend it to anybody when things are relatively back to normal that you go. But it was like the fifth day we were there and we were like, oh, this is going to suck. You know, I'm going to have to wait in the airport for my layover, which was like 20 hours later.
Starting point is 00:18:48 It was like the next day or something, just the way the flights worked out. It was like the only thing available. So she's like, let me call and see if you could get a hotel. And at that point, if they were going to let me get a hotel, it was literally going to just run in a direction out of the airport just so I could stay, you know, and be with her. But she called in like, oh, no, you're coming from a green country, like a green zone. Like anybody who's there can enter anywhere because it's green and you're fine.
Starting point is 00:19:16 And I was like, no way. That is not true. Let's call again tomorrow. So you had a return flight booked. Yeah, I had a return flight. My flight path was, this is the best part. It was New York, Paris, Paris, Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik, Paris, JFK.
Starting point is 00:19:31 That was going to be my whole trip. So we meet in the airport in Paris when I land off the first flight. That's the first time we've seen each other in four months. We're happy. You know, we're, you know, all right, cool. Let's get to Croatia. And I had the return flight. So basically when we came back from Croatia and everything was good,
Starting point is 00:19:50 I went through customs. and we're now in the car with her mom who picked us up, I called and just booked my flight. I changed my flight for five weeks later and stayed in France. It was crazy. And the rest is history. Now you're a Frenchman. French fruit.
Starting point is 00:20:06 Almost. Almost there with my visa. I got to go back again to New York in a couple weeks and then get my visa and then come back. And then I'll be good for like a year. So, man, you have to keep going back once a year. to just renew it or whatever. Yeah, but you know how our life is, you know, like I'll, we always got to be,
Starting point is 00:20:28 yeah, yeah, you got to go back to New York all the time, you know what I mean? Like my family, my, you know, my family's there. Like, it's, I, it's going to be, if I'm allowed to, like, fly and, like, everything is safe and, you know, if I, you know, take the right precautions on quarantining and stuff and just do everything the right way, then like, whatever, like, I'll do it if it, if it, if it, if it makes sense and it's legal, you know what I mean? And it's going to allow me to be here
Starting point is 00:20:55 and also be in New York if I need to work or something, you know? Yeah, you'll be able to do that. I think on my... Sorry, you're not boring me. I'm just tired. On my visa, it's like... On my US one, it's like, yeah,
Starting point is 00:21:08 you can live in the US for the whole year if you want, but you just have to come back when you renew it. Yeah, and basically, I just... We got, what's the word? I'm trying to say.
Starting point is 00:21:24 It's called a PACS here. And it's like basically you're legally partnered. And we thought that was going to solve everything. But it doesn't. Even though we're legally partnered, you know, it's basically like being married, you know, on paper. You have all like the same opportunities and stuff that everyone else does. But you still need a visa. So I came here for that.
Starting point is 00:21:45 But with the PACs, it allows me to fly during COVID. So that's, it's a huge. huge thing that we have that so I could I don't have to submit another 50 fucking pages again on my life we had to send pictures of us in front of the empire it went in in central park the first time she was here proving that we had been together for over a year like it was nonsense it was absolutely insane I mean I guess it makes sense yeah but I mean it's the fact that they that's all they ask for though it's like there's no nothing cleverer than like uh it's like hey can we get you in front of monuments yeah it's like hey we get your
Starting point is 00:22:20 passport, your birth certificate translated in French. And can we get that selfie from you in Central Park? Yeah. And excuse me, we're going to need another selfie because there's not a longing look in either of your eyes. So you make it look a little happier. Yeah. But yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:35 Just my boss, man. My boss is fucking on my back. I need, I need like some contact between the two of you. Can you just touch her knee, please? But yeah. That's my, that's my story on where I'm at and get in here and. Yeah, so sorry to bore you people, your listeners, if you thought. No, everyone wants to know, oh, inside the mind of the jingleman.
Starting point is 00:22:58 What he's up to? Anyway, speaking of jingles, what are you fucking doing? Well, like, what are you doing for work? Because nobody's got any work, especially not us. Yeah, well, I started working with Justin Manage. You know Justin. He's actually the OG drummer, Stray, and he's like this amazing, um, uh, he does like a lot of like, like,
Starting point is 00:23:20 hip-hop and like, you know, R&B, soul and pop stuff. He's got a studio in New York. And I based- He's out, he's, he's a, he's a fucking genius, bro. Like, he really is. Wasn't that one beat that it was like Bieber nicked it or someone on fucking Beber's team? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, if you listen to like the sample that he had, like, I think it's just like,
Starting point is 00:23:45 maybe in a different key, it's probably the same key. I think the BPM is just a little different. but the intro to the song is like literally the same and he was like he was going on about it but like he laughs about it because I was like bro like even if it's not a coincidence or if they actually like jacked it from you like I mean yeah you want the credibility for the credit for it but like you're on people's radars you know yeah and it's like it's fucking it's sample culture anyway like that whole yeah stealing people's shit Yeah, of course. All you got to do is get a splice account and that's it. And you're in.
Starting point is 00:24:24 So what are you doing with him then? So I've, um, we started like working together, uh, working with some of his artists, you know, just doing like songwriting stuff for different people. And then, um, it kind of escalated into me, uh, starting like a solo project, which, um, um, I'm like, I'm like, yeah. So I'm, I'm psyched on it. It's, uh, it's very different. Um, it's, um, it's, It's not like stray. It's not like after party. But that's all I'm really going to say about what it is.
Starting point is 00:24:57 But like I'm almost ready to do like the first like drop of it. So we were working on that. And then just basically I've been doing features for for different artists and different bands. Like I'm working with this band in Switzerland, working with this band in France, a band in the UK. And this violinist from California. So, like, I'm kind of just, like, put him... What the fuck is that? What's the violin shit?
Starting point is 00:25:28 It's like, this, this girl hit me up. I don't know, I don't know if she wants me to use her name because it's so, it's so brand new. Like, we're just in the early stages of it. But she's like a, it would do so well in Europe. She, like, plays violin over, like, metal and stuff. And, like, she doesn't really have, like, a full band behind her. And she sent me some demo.
Starting point is 00:25:49 MOS, which were really cool. And I was like, I had this idea, like, yo, let me wait until I get back to New York and me and Justin are going to write a song for you and you're just going to like rip via. Like, I'm basically, I don't even want to say anymore because like it's exciting for me because it's like something so new and out of the box that I never thought I would have the opportunity to like do something like this. So, but yeah, it's what's wild.
Starting point is 00:26:16 It's like, I'm trying to like make it as like, I guess like power metal, you know what I mean? I was just about to say in my head, it sounds like it's going to be some fucking dragon dragon force shit. Yeah, I've been watching and I've been watching so much anime too. And this is kind of where the idea came from is I was watching Baki and the beginning of Baki, the show, it's like this insane song. The song is fucking incredible.
Starting point is 00:26:41 Like I wish I wrote it. And I was like, oh, that's the vibe. That's the style I should try and go for. So like the other night, I was just like messing around on guitar, like, you know, just fucking with some plugins. And I just started writing this thing. And I was like, okay, cool. Now we have like a some form of a skeleton to like start this. But yeah, man, I'm just, I'm doing features.
Starting point is 00:27:04 Everybody for bands. So feature. Look, he's got a lovely industry standard microphone. That's the microphone James Hetfield uses, my people. And that's the microphone. I use on all the stray shit. That's the microphone Michael Jackson used on Thriller. It's the one.
Starting point is 00:27:23 You know, all similar people there. Three similar icons. I can't speak. I've had a stroke. Oh, wait. Well, that's good at you're fucking working. And what are you doing? Just fucking killing the game and God of Pod,
Starting point is 00:27:38 Dr. Plague, fucking skatewear, sportswear, man. Honestly, right, I've got like a, not even a creative lull, but I'm seeing so many people rip off what I did last year that now I'm like, I don't want to do it because now everyone's doing it. So I'm just trying to think of new shit. I've been fucking this morning. I was just in the lab. And by in the lab, I mean furiously sending emails to designers.
Starting point is 00:28:11 But I feel like it's like being in a band, though. the same thing. You know what I mean? Like, you put out music and just think about like all the, the, the, the bands that, you know, you've influenced or we've influenced over the years. And like, you know, they, they end up like, you know, becoming something sick. Like, and it's, you know, you're a part of that. So I feel like. Do you think that's why people change sounds? Because I want to change clothing because I'm sick of everyone doing the same thing as me. I think, I think it's the idea, well, let me, let me start out, when you have the idea of we need to change our sound because too many bands sound like it, that's unnatural. I feel like bands together and people are always evolving creatively. And I think, you know, especially with us, like, anytime we go into the studio every two years, like, we're on different levels than we were two years prior. You know what I mean? So I think, yeah, you're always going to feel like, oh, fuck, that person ripped that off. But like at the same time, it's like, cool. Like, now I just got to do better.
Starting point is 00:29:23 I got to create something new. But you, look, you just, you know what you're doing. I know, but it's just, I'm getting to the point where I should have span each, like, spun each one out a little bit longer instead of doing like every two days, every two months a drop. Yeah, yeah. The skateboard one, I really could have got away with six months out of that. Yeah. I'm already like, hmm, I'll do something else. Yeah, but that's you. Interesting things. But that's your brain.
Starting point is 00:29:51 It's because I've got no creative outlet other than clothes at the moment. Yeah, you got your clothes, you got Twitch, which I want to talk to you about Twitch because I, I like, I don't, I don't understand it. Like, I don't, no, no, no, I mean, like, I, I, like, I want to be a part of it, but I don't understand how to. What do you want to be a part of? Like, I want to, like, I want to pop in. you're drinking coffee or you want a Twitch or you want to pop in? I want to pop in. I mean,
Starting point is 00:30:19 I probably couldn't have a Twitch. You can pop in. What you do is fucking sign up? You sign up and then like I did one yesterday. I just did a little like little talking thing. Yeah. And then Sam was in the chat. Tom was in the chat.
Starting point is 00:30:32 What? We could all hang out? Yeah, everyone's hanging out. And then some kid, it was funny actually because I've actually gone in twice on in the last 24 hours on kids saying the new architect sucks. Wow. This kid in the chat.
Starting point is 00:30:45 who like, that's just ignorant. Didn't mean anything by it, but it was like a little backhanded thing. It was like, oh, I'm looking forward to the new architect's song, but a little bit cautious.
Starting point is 00:30:57 And I was like, what fuck do you mean a little bit cautious? And I was just like, you know, I probably went in a little bit too hard. But, and I forgot about it. And then Sam came into the chat.
Starting point is 00:31:07 Nice. And then the kid piped up again and was like, I hope I wasn't coming across being a dickhead. And then the kind of mood I was in, I was like, fuck it. I'm going to fucking... Rent some. Just rent them.
Starting point is 00:31:19 I just told Sam what the kid had said. And Sam was like, I fucking hate the internet. You completely put him on blast. That's insane. I love it. And then I did it again this morning. Some kid was like... Some kid on Twitter was like, oh, rare.
Starting point is 00:31:33 Rare. Was like, oh, why do bands change at Sam? Like, I've got no problem with anyone having like a differing opinion and you go on your little shit little under the bridge troll. section of fucking Reddit and going, I actually think the snare drum sounds like shit. But this kid was like, I don't have time for that.
Starting point is 00:31:54 Why do bands change their sound like this? Why isn't there at least one track on the album, which is an OG song? I was like, excuse me, what? And I was just like, this is the musical equivalent of a Karen. That is like someone going, it's like someone going, oh, I was at this.
Starting point is 00:32:15 Michelin-starred restaurant 10 years ago and there was no fish dishes on the menu and I hate fish and I've come today and there's fish. I'd like to speak to the manager please. I don't. Let me change that chorus for you. Sorry, sir. Let me change that. Welcome to Live Chat, Architects. Let me change that chorus for you and see what we can do and maybe get you a voucher for a different chorus. Fuck off. I just don't understand why. Like, That takes a lot of energy. You know what I mean? Isn't it?
Starting point is 00:32:48 To say it at the person. I have that opinion, sure, but it's just rude. Yeah, it's straight up rude. If I didn't like your shirt, I love your shirt. That lovely red shirt you're wearing that? Thanks, man. I appreciate it. I love your one.
Starting point is 00:33:00 I love your little hat. Imagine if I went as a downbeat one, you can have one if you want. Ooh. Andy like me. Imagine if I just went, oh, what's up, man? That shirt sucks. You should be wearing a blue one. I would go, wow.
Starting point is 00:33:15 Are you French? How's that? Europe time. It's great, man. It really is awesome. The people here are just incredible. Like, El-D's group of friends or family, most amazing people. They treat me like one of their own.
Starting point is 00:33:34 And like, it's funny, though. But like the European honesty, bro, is like, it's like a daily thing for me. You know what I mean? Like, it's not only like pulling up to the venue. like, you know, you can escape it. It's like, I'm in it. I'm in the honesty at all times. Got any examples?
Starting point is 00:33:53 Let's see. Just too many. Too many. That's the thing. It's like you ask me for an example and like, I'm like, where does my brain go? But it's just, you know how it is, man. It's just like you get a reaction from like a kid at a show or something or like somebody who works at the venue and you're like, I got to find somebody.
Starting point is 00:34:13 I got to tell somebody about this. You know what I mean? I love the show. You guys were better last time, though. Oh, that's great. Oh, it's unbelievable. I can't, I can't remember who it was. I think we were on tour with some band, and I heard a kid go up to one of the people in the band at Merch and went, nice show. I don't like your shoes. It's incredible. See, now that, though, is like comical. You know what I mean? Like, yeah, but it's insane. It's an insane way to live your life. Yeah, it is insane, but like that, I, I fuck with that kid. That, that, that rules. But it's gone full circle that it's so rude. It's like Larry David.
Starting point is 00:34:52 Exactly. It's so rude that it's funny. Like, when it's like, almost like, when it's passive in a, in a way. The dressed up thing. That's why the, that kid saying, excited for new architects, although somewhat cautious. That's like a backhanded, like, I don't think it's going to be good. Yeah, exactly. But, um, yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:15 Oh, French word. Are you learning French? Yeah. How good are you? I'm not, are you learning the hardest language in the world to learn? Yes, I am learning the hardest language in the world to learn. But I finally got a, uh, a teacher, um, you know, I do it once a week, uh, my French
Starting point is 00:35:32 lessons and she's really great and she's affordable. And, um, it's been two or three lessons. And like the first two, bro, like, I was like, like, I was like, like, I don't know if I could do this. Like, you know, obviously I know like passing words and like, you know, I could go into a store and like buy something and check out. And like, if I'm confused, I kind of just like, you know, I just let people know, like, just tell them I'm sorry in French that I can't go any further than speak what I've already
Starting point is 00:36:03 said, you know. And they're usually pretty... Is it like that fucking sketch where you know perfectly how to say, I'm sorry, I don't understand you? And they're like, but you're speaking perfect French. What? Yeah,
Starting point is 00:36:14 exactly. But, you know, the thing about French that is, that is so, um, it's, it's,
Starting point is 00:36:22 it's crazy. And it's, it's not crazy because, like, it's bad. It's, like, difficult because if,
Starting point is 00:36:28 I had this conversation with Tom and Will and, uh, Anthony, dragonneck, um, never heard you call him that ever. I,
Starting point is 00:36:37 I'm sorry. Um, But I was saying... I still hate that he changed his fucking Instagram name. Yeah, I mean... I still type Dragon Neck in it. Anyway, quickly, before we lose your train of thought. Yeah, so I was explaining to them, like, you know how English is forgiving?
Starting point is 00:36:52 And Tom was like, well, is it? And I was like, no, no, no, no. Not like, not like a racist American would like, you better speak my language right now, motherfucker. Not like that. What I mean is forgiving in a way where I had a lot of, lot of Hispanic friends growing up. Okay. And sometimes, you know, the way Spanish and Italian and French and any language that comes from Latin, you know, things are kind of, they're flipped,
Starting point is 00:37:23 they're opposite, you know. Yeah. So they'll say like, let's, I'm trying to think of, uh, uh, take that for me. And it's like, you, you would say, you wouldn't correct them. You wouldn't say like, no, you're supposed to say, can I please have that or give that to me. I just let it go. It's like, I understand what you're saying. You know what I mean? Like, I got it. Like, you want that.
Starting point is 00:37:45 I'm going to give it to you. Or, like, whatever. In French, like, I'll say, like, let's say, I want to say, I am sorry or something. I'll say, jez sui d'isili. And someone will go, what? And I'll go, just sweet disilly? And they're like, I'm sorry. And they're, oh, jeie sui d'isely.
Starting point is 00:38:04 And I'm like, are you kidding me? Like, I got it. What was different? What was different? Exactly. exactly. Is that not just an extension of the Euro honesty? No,
Starting point is 00:38:15 they're actually just like, I know what this fucking American meant, but let's fucking just... It's an extension of their language is very important to them, and it's, you know, they take a lot of pride in the way that they pronounce things. That's why, you know,
Starting point is 00:38:28 when people from Montreal go to France and they speak French, like sometimes people in France will switch to English and speak to them, because it's not correct. It's crazy. That is fucking next level rude. Yep.
Starting point is 00:38:45 I'm sorry, your native tongue is so bastardizing to mind that I'm actually going to switch to one that neither of us be. But you know what? I get frustrated in the moment where I'm like, come on. Like, I'm so close. Like, just, you know, give me some confidence here and just kind of respond. But like, you know, my friends, they'll be like, no, no, no. Like, you can't say that.
Starting point is 00:39:09 You know, it's a lot of informal and formal, too. It's very important in the language, you know, and feminine and masculine. It comes into play with everything, basically. Every, you know, objects, objects, you know, you have to say in, like, for example. Like the right la or la, isn't it? Yeah, exactly. For like fucking lamp. That lamp doesn't have a dick.
Starting point is 00:39:30 Why do I have to do this? Yeah, it's like if you have what I learned, which was mind-blowing, is that there's a group of people and four of them are girls, and one of them is a boy, you say ill, which is he. You, you, you, it's always masculine.
Starting point is 00:39:47 No matter, that's, if you want to say they, and you're talking about a group of people where it's a hundred women, and one guy, you say ill. No matter what. If it was just a hundred women and no guys. You'd say L or L.A.
Starting point is 00:40:01 Wow. Like institutionalized sexism. It's wild. That's fucking indefinitely. insane. It's wild, yeah. Or like even objects. But what would happen if you said that? Would they just do that? Oh, sorry, I don't understand you. Yeah, they would go. They would, I don't know, they'd probably walk in the other direction. I have no idea. Just slap you. No. No words. Just slap and then leave. No, but they, they really, my friends and my girls family, they really, really try. Like, her mom is so cute, man. She's taking English lessons. Like, you know, they, they really, really tried to make me feel comfortable and more. at home, which I can't ask for anything more, you know? So, yeah. Nice.
Starting point is 00:40:42 That's like me in Scotland. Steves week's English, but it's like fucked up English. Do you find yourself like, well, I mean, your parents are Scottish, right? So like, I don't, I've never heard you do like the switch. You know what I mean? Like, I've never heard your accent change because I know. I can't do it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:02 I think you're so conditioned to just speaking the way that you do already, you know, because you've lived in different parts of England before, you know, so you just... And I just... I don't know. I think if anything, I go more fucking London. Yeah. It's like, boys. Oh, boys, yeah, just after a couple of fucking, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:20 You've got fucking potatoes or not. Nah, boy, boy, yeah, like, then boy, yeah, like. See, now that's what... That's the talk I want to do. I like that kind of stuff. All right, then, mate. Where do you find yourself in 20 years, my friend? The only way I could do an English accent is if I talk,
Starting point is 00:41:40 like I have a satchel and a pack and I'm going over a hill. It's such a nice natural vibrato coming through in that goblin voice. You got this microphone. You should do a fucking, I don't know how you would even start. Do fucking voices for dumb fucking characters. Well, that's the thing that I thought about too. Like even with songwriting, I was like, how do I like get into like commercials and stuff?
Starting point is 00:42:05 You know what I mean? And like, because, like, people who write and, like, I get, I get, is it called scoring for commercials? I don't even know what it's called. For voices, voice. No, no, no. You know, because. Composing fucking jingles. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:42:19 Not for a laugh. Yeah. Well, they could be. If you listen to some of these songs, they're insane. Like, and that's why, you know, they get stuck in your head, like, you know, in America, like a lawyer or like a company. It's like called eight seven, seven, six five now. You know, like shit like that. I could.
Starting point is 00:42:35 I literally just did one. You know what I mean? Like, let's write one right now. Okay. It's for... What's the company? The company is... Fuck.
Starting point is 00:42:47 It's got to be... The company... You're doing it American. You're doing it American. It's... Or you want to do English. Whatever you want. You throw it at me.
Starting point is 00:42:57 Okay. Let's see how we do it on the fly. Let's do English. And it's for a brand of... It's like a key maker and they make skeleton keys. And it's just one key and it will control all of the locks in your home. One key to rule them all. Now the Lord of the Rings is key man.
Starting point is 00:43:18 One key to have them all. It's not the ring. It's the key man. Sign up now and tell me where to go. Because I will unlock your doors at night or will it be somebody else or will it be me? Perfect. Give me some drums. Give me a guitar.
Starting point is 00:43:32 I write it. what you don't know about the Twitch, right? You're actually on the streams. I have a button. I have a bullshit button. You ready for this? Yeah, yeah. On my jingle buttons.
Starting point is 00:43:48 Tell me you have me... Bullshit. Then we hear it again? Bullshit. Yeah, it's so cool. Bullshit. I cut it out of whatever fucking song it's in. Kickback.
Starting point is 00:44:00 Kickback. Yeah, holy shit. That's so cool. You're a genius. If someone's saying bullshit, then I'll just press bullshit. Bullshit. They've got the jingle on there,
Starting point is 00:44:08 some other shit. Listen, don't bullshit a bullshitter. Bullshit. Bullshit. Perfect. What are we talking about? Key Master.
Starting point is 00:44:19 Who is it that does the fucking thing? Someone we know does it. I don't know. I want to... What tries to do it? Fucking matey boy from trash boat. Oh, really? He does like voiceovers?
Starting point is 00:44:30 I think he tries to. Well, I'm a born natural I'm not sure. He might be actually doing it, though. It might be worth just seeing. I don't know if he's doing it or whatever. But, you know, about the jingles and like, you know, the voiceover stuff is like, yeah, I would love to like do stuff like that, you know, why not?
Starting point is 00:44:48 I mean, it's super fun and it's like a different thing to do. And if there's, you know, if somebody's going to pay. God, it would be funny. Yeah, exactly. If someone's going to pay me to say something insane that I already do in my brain, then I might as well. Like for fucking windows or something. Join now and get your windows by the window man.
Starting point is 00:45:08 It's the glazing from phrasing, glazing, glazing, mazing man. It's amazing what you can do with glazing these days. And then you have like, you have like the woman, like the wife, like the, like the New York wife who ordered the wind. Like, let me tell you something. These windows, these windows, I never ever catch a draft. ever again. Me and Johnny and the kids are so happy. Thank you,
Starting point is 00:45:35 Window, man. 100% draft free windows. That's fucking, we could just do it. Some poor fucker to animate it. Fuck it. If anyone's listening, you've got a business
Starting point is 00:45:48 and you're like, I want two of the, I was going to like, bigger us up there, but two of the most insane people in the world to do a nice jingle and we'll do it for you.
Starting point is 00:46:01 It'll be nice. you know, there'll be a compressor on there. It's going to sound good. Yeah. I mean, you're definitely one of the most insane people that I know. So that's facts. Likewise, my friend. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:13 That's why we have a lovely time on tour together. I love it. I can't wait until it happens again. I mean, we could talk about that, but no one has any answers. Well, here's the thing. I think 2022. What do you think? Um, I want to think.
Starting point is 00:46:34 think the end of this year. Yeah. I mean, I'm sorry, you know, to anyone who thinks people and bands have the answers. We don't. So we're just as lost is everybody in this. And everyone's trying to still work. So everyone is like still booking stuff. Right.
Starting point is 00:46:56 And it's just a huge question mark. But I think I saw that in particular, I think the UK is something like 6% of people now I've been vaccinated, so I can't take a year, can it, really? If you're going at that rate. I know that's a slow rate, but... Right. I mean...
Starting point is 00:47:14 But America is absolutely fucked. I know. It's fucking crazy. It's absolutely insane. So I don't see that happening. But luckily, we're bigger in Europe, so... This is true. This is very true.
Starting point is 00:47:31 I do miss American tours, but... You know. Oh, no. You want to slap a fucking, slap another big, big fucker on the Brexit thing. Yeah. But I think that will realistically be fine. I think they're not going to make it impossible.
Starting point is 00:47:47 It will just be, when you come to the UK, you have to do that bullshit that you have to do when you go to Switzerland. Yep. Give me all the bullshit. I'll take the bullshit. I'll take the bullshit.
Starting point is 00:47:59 What is you not going to take? Because this is what me and Brendan were talking about. What are you not taking when, gigs come back. Like things that you have just let slide because that's the way it's done. Like, for example, like, you know, you know I have. Merch cuts. Uh, merch cuts.
Starting point is 00:48:17 Uh, I don't think people are going to take it. I think people are going to be like, okay, let's have some of your bar then. And we'll have a bit of your bar cut. Like, well, that's, I mean, I've been saying that since day one. Like, all right, cool. You want to take, uh, 15% of what me and this whole talk. poor package came here to do our jobs. All right.
Starting point is 00:48:37 So it's either going to be some of your bar cut or let's have fucking 10 bottles on the house. You know what I mean? Like I don't, that's, no. They, but at the same time, you have to think about venues too that are, I don't think anything is going to, no one's going to like hold back and say, all right, we're not going to take the cut. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:49:00 They're going to be just as hungry as they were, if not more. because think about venues it's not like they could just you know half of them are closing down because they rely on that ticket they rely on that coat check they rely on all that stuff they don't have food they don't have oh stop being so fucking fair i'll try and have a little moan about merch cuts and you're raising a very good point yes there's some venu okay so little venues that are sick fine i feel sorry for you you can stay big fuck Oh, save the fucking, save the stadium that's been charging fucking $900 for a hot dog for 50 years.
Starting point is 00:49:48 We need help. We need some help. Well, fuck you. You should have saved some of that fucking money. Oh, man, that's really funny. See, when you first went to like, what a shit that you're not going to take anymore? I thought you meant like where my brain went because I'm so insane is like oh I'm not going to take uh uh like I want ice no you can't have that it's not possible
Starting point is 00:50:15 get me the fucking ice I just want the ice it's definitely it's so possible no no no that's that's good that's little shit like that um two two shows in one day where you have to drive from one show to the next show and then you have to drive from that show to the next show immediately afterwards. So you've got three shows in 24 hours with four hours sleep. This is what me and Brennan were talking about. Brennan was like, nope, staying at home with my cat. No, I'm not doing that. I don't like that. I don't want to do that stuff anymore. Like, I'm sorry. People don't think we sound entitled now, but it's like for us, we thought if Giggy, stopped, we would be dead.
Starting point is 00:51:03 Like, this is it, this is life. And now we're, all your fave musicians are realizing that actually being like, quote unquote, a civilian is actually pretty sick. So, don't be trying to make me
Starting point is 00:51:21 play fucking five gigs in one day because I'll stay at home and fucking have a wank. I just think, have a wank. That's great. just think that like, you know, I'm not 23. I can't do that. My body can't do that anymore. Like, I don't, I don't feel nice after that. You know what that just reminded me of? What? You saying I'm not 23. It was something that I literally
Starting point is 00:51:47 said out loud when me and you were sleeping in a child's bed. Do you remember this? When we stayed where it was a fuck that was the final fucking straw of like when the promoter goes oh you can stay at my house don't name him because i know you know his name the brother was like i don't i don't know his name but i remember the moment so we had our promoter says we can stay at his and tom comes up and says that and me and you are immediately like nope nope nope not happening and tom's like no but i've spoke to everyone everyone says it's a really nice house he's got a really nice shower do you remember that was being sold. Do you remember what the fucking shower was? It was like a weird dip into
Starting point is 00:52:29 it was almost like a fucking your face. I do. All the other bands are saying, you know, it's like a fucking big hotel. It's going to be sick. So we're like, oh, obviously, yeah, we'll do that. That's cool. And then we get there. Me and you are forced to share a child. His daughter's bed. She's not there. Anyone
Starting point is 00:52:45 that's going to try and fucking cancel me for this. She was not there. The child was not there. The baby was not there. There was drawings on the wall, though. I remember those drawings. Oh, I remember those. That a child had made. Where was she?
Starting point is 00:52:58 We've got no fucking idea. No idea. We had one rag between us. And I remember turning to you and I went, I'm someone's uncle. I'm someone's uncle. And this is what I'm doing. I'm sleeping essentially on a floor in a child's bedroom with a rag. And I am someone's uncle.
Starting point is 00:53:24 I'm a full grown-up. I'm a responsible at all. Like your, your, your niece and nephew or do you have a nephew or you just have nieces? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So your niece and nephew, you know, they'll be randomly, where's, where's Uncle Craig? Oh, and you're just lying at another child's bed. Like, I'm someone's uncle. You know, no, I can't.
Starting point is 00:53:50 I'm fucking weak. This is done. I'm someone's uncle. This is the name of agony. And even Tom, though. John was like, yeah, there's never happening again. Yeah. That, I think that was probably the last time that we had ever stayed at somebody's house.
Starting point is 00:54:05 Like, if, you know, like, something that we didn't know about. Obviously, we still have, like, if we, do we have people still that, like, we would go stay at their house? Yeah. We do, right? I'll do it if there, if there is legitimately enough facilities for five uncles. Yeah. No, no. When you put the word, when you brand it as uncle, I cannot. Because I'm an uncle. We're all uncles.
Starting point is 00:54:34 Everyone's an uncle. Yo. That if you have enough facilities for five uncles, we'll come and stay with you. I'm going to fucking pace myself. That's the hardest I've laughed in a long time. That is fucking insane. But it's true. Oh, shit.
Starting point is 00:55:02 It's so true. Like, uh, do you have... That I'm not even joking. I'm actually crying. And I think that might be my favorite moment of the podcast in fucking 50 episodes. I think that is... But it's true. It's fucking so true.
Starting point is 00:55:27 I need the facilities for five uncles. Oh, man. Minimum. Mike's an uncle too. It's like if they try and throw the three shows at us, we walk out of the first show. Listen, we're five uncles. We can't fucking play another show after this. We got to get some sleep.
Starting point is 00:55:45 I'm actually going to piss myself. I felt pissed get to the tip of my dick there. You got tip pissed? Oh, my God. You got some tip piss. Fuck me. That's funny. Oh, shit.
Starting point is 00:56:04 Fully quite. Anyway, yeah, so that's what I'm not going to. Oh, yeah, no. I'm not going to take being de-uncled. It's de-o-like, instead of saying dehumanizing, I'm not sleeping there, man, it's de-uncling. Comparing dehumanizing to de-uncleizing. Fucking 10 minutes of people laughing.
Starting point is 00:56:39 I need to blow my nose. This has gone terribly wrong. I'm off, I don't know what to speak about now. I'm straight up in tears. That was the last, that was the last, the last time I stood for something I didn't want to. The two shows in a day thing, sometimes I do actually like it. I was just complaining. You're alone on that one.
Starting point is 00:57:00 You're alone. I don't. I mean, the second show is never good. No, and like, you go into it, like, what? Like, I, like, you're living, I don't know, it's like Groundhog Day at that point. Yeah, and you're burnt from the first show. And, because it's usually on, like, festivals where you play early on one day, all festivals have a law or, like, written into your contract that you can't play within, like, 250 miles of the festival.
Starting point is 00:57:31 Yeah, so you're driving in... You play a show at 11 a.m., and then you drive 250 miles to play another show. In your fucking sweaty Grundies... Grundies! And that is just something that Uncle's... do not do. I don't know any other uncles that do that shit. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:57:55 I don't know why that's my go-to. Because when I think of like my uncle, in my life, he's always just been like a normal grown-up. And when I think of the insane shit that I do, and I think that has not uncle behavior. Yeah, like my uncle bought me Hess trucks for Christmas, and here I am sleeping in another child's life.
Starting point is 00:58:17 It's bad. The child's not there. Don't cancel me. The fucking disclaimer. It's like you have to throw it in. Oh, fuck. I'm literally losing my mind. I just hit my microphone there.
Starting point is 00:58:32 Hold on. I'm going to get some water. I'll be right back. My fridge is really close. Okay. Don't press anything. I'm back. That was so quick.
Starting point is 00:58:45 I'm not even going to have to edit that. Yeah, no. I'm in my living room kitchen. area so it's all good. You've got a fridge. How is that? Because there's no fucking fridges in stock either. I almost spit water all over everything that I'm recording
Starting point is 00:59:02 I have a tabletop fridge. What's that like? What do you mean a table? As in like one that's designed to hold maybe five to seven cans of coke. Got you. So that's what I'm living out of right now. Do you have drop beer in there? What is that company called?
Starting point is 00:59:18 Drop project? Drop project. Yeah, I've started following them. Shit looks so good. So fucking good. They're like, it's the juiciest shit ever. There'll be like an 8% one and it just tastes like orange juice, not actually like orange juice, but like easy to drink. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:38 And like beers like that, like even like, like, because you like IPAs and you know me, like I don't, I'll, I'll drink them, but like I don't want to drink like a lot of them. You know what I mean? Like so for a beer like that that's like citrusy. or something like that, like, to have with like, if you pair it with something delicious, or even just one of them randomly. That's what I do.
Starting point is 01:00:00 Yeah. Like, I found, oh, I found Laganitas here. I found, uh, Brooklyn. And, um, I also found sweet baby rays and fluff.
Starting point is 01:00:11 So I'm psyched. Where the fuck you find is sweet baby raised sauce in France? There was like, I don't want to say like a pharmacy or a dollar store, but it was like, in the mix of like in in the middle of that where you could get like shampoos and soaps and stuff and then they have like novelty kind of stuff and I just like walked in and saw the sweet baby rays and the fluff and I was like okay let's go I need that nice what's the have you go ahead
Starting point is 01:00:42 no no no you go nope I was just going to say about like you figured out why they fucking hate gyms Like, why a gym's always closed or there's like one per town? Um, no, because like, I live, I mean, normally when we are playing here, we usually play in Paris or Leon, right? Or, uh, what's, I forget the, Straussburg. That's like the three cities that we would play, right? I don't think there's really any else. But anyway, when we normally go. Marseille sometimes.
Starting point is 01:01:15 Marseille, wait. Um, but, uh, I don't know because Elity's Gym has been like pre-COVID, pre-pandemic. It was open like 24 hours. So I don't know, man. I think it's got to be like... Just the areas. Just the areas.
Starting point is 01:01:35 Yeah. And like, you know how like certain places in France, Italy and Spain, they shut down for a certain amount of time, you know, because they go home and they have dinner and then they come back to work. You know, maybe it's like something like that. But I don't know. I mean, I feel like with this whole situation, if gyms aren't available, we're going to have, I think we'll be fine to work out because we've really been given no choice
Starting point is 01:02:01 but to kind of like do shit on our own, you know? I can't stand it though. I see you're doing all this home workout shit and so am I, but I fucking hate it. I said to myself today, very much like when I left school, I was like, I'm never going to wear a fucking tie ever. And I never have.
Starting point is 01:02:18 and then after COVID, I'm never doing another burpee. I'm just never doing it. Yeah, burpees suck, but they're like, I don't know. I think it's, because I feel the same sometimes too. Like, I'll be like, fuck this. I don't want to do this. But at the same time, I also hate being around people. True.
Starting point is 01:02:40 You know, in that kind of setting, you know, so. But I've got like burpee fucking, I'm going to have burpee PTSD, I think, because of these workouts i'm gonna have b t s d because of these fucking because of these fucking workouts they're just i just want to lift a weight i'm doing the shit i see you doing the shit you got a rowing machine that's kind of sick yeah that that was huge we me and elida's friends we all got her um a browing machine for her birth that we all chipped in so like um you know it what is it is it a concord is it one of the fucking it's a nortat it's a nortat It's sick.
Starting point is 01:03:19 It's beautiful. And it's like it folds up and stuff, so it's like easy to store. So we just keep it in the office room. And then I just bring it out here in front of the 65 inch and have myself a nice row. Watch some anime, people surfing. You peer pressured me when I moved. I had a perfectly good 55 inch TV. And then you were like, oh, I just got this TV.
Starting point is 01:03:38 It's a 65. I was like, oh, well, I need that now. Yeah, but now we have a new club, the 8765 crew. So it's fine. 8765. It sounds like a racist organization's numbers, but actually it's the year of birth and the size of your TV. But they're always like, all the racist fucking things.
Starting point is 01:03:59 They're always called like 1850 fucking the wolf allegiance. You're old sheep. Actually, we're talking about, we're talking about the year of our birth and our fucking TVs. Yeah, but that's how these animals disguise themselves, you know. That's fine. What are you about to say? I said I've been drinking a lot of wine, obvious.
Starting point is 01:04:19 Well, that's fucking way. I was going to get to that, right? Because you're looking... Just let me make my notes. Right, I was going to get to this. You're looking well, and you're working out a lot. Wait. But are you still drinking?
Starting point is 01:04:35 Yes. Okay, good, because loads of people have, like, stopped, and it makes me feel bad. Wait, stop drinking? Or stop... Yeah, and there's so many people who, like, don't... care on tour or anything and they're like pieces of shit on tour and then now I'm really actually quite jealous of these people and then now they're like oh I lost fucking 15 kilos in lockdown and you know I've stopped doing this I stopped doing that's like motherfucker you are
Starting point is 01:05:04 raw dogging the pandemic I'm doing the opposite I'm like oh it's fucking four o'clock I'm going to drink myself to sleep yeah uh as soon as this is over I'm drinking um anyway having said that I think, you know, it's like anything, everything in moderation, you know, and if you could, to be honest, I run so much. Yeah, this is the thing you're making me feel about as well. Running man. Yeah, but you- The running man with Arnold Drew. But I love running.
Starting point is 01:05:37 You don't like running. You know what I mean? So like, that's certain people like, oh, fuck, I got to run. I'm like, if you don't want to run, don't run, do something else. You know what I mean? But I can't do what I want to do. I don't want to lift fucking weights. I do the same boring fucking full body workout every other day.
Starting point is 01:05:54 I keep, I'm trying, like I've got money saved now to buy some gym equipment and then everywhere is out stock. So, and it's like coming in end of February, it's like by that point I hope we'll be over this and then that point comes and we're not over it. Yeah. I mean, I thought about the, uh, the home gym too because they have like these little garages here that you could, you know, add on to your mortgage. And if you want to, I don't even know if you would own it.
Starting point is 01:06:25 I think you rent these, actually. So I looked into one and it was like 120 euros for the month. And I was like, oh, that's amazing. I could like put home gym, home studio, but there's no electric in them. So that was immediately axed. But I thought about it too. But I mean, with the row, we have a lot of trails for running. and like, you know, with, you know, body workouts, it's like, oh, you know what, we have this,
Starting point is 01:06:52 I'll take a picture the next time. We have like an outdoor playground gym. You know what? It's not like a playground. You know what I mean? But it looks like one. But it's just like, you know, you use your body weight like for like a chest thing, you know, you're using, you know, the seat goes up as you push up.
Starting point is 01:07:07 Is it open though? Yeah, it's open. It's open. It's open. It's open. It's open. It's open. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:12 No, it's open for sure. I mean, I also live probably in. a very less populated area than you do. You know? Like, I, I think, I think I've been in there once when there was one other person in there. Any, anytime I go, there's nobody in there.
Starting point is 01:07:28 So. That's fucking sick. Yeah, they got, like, pull-up bars. I just want, I mean, that's my, my saving fucking thing has been, before this started, and I was like, right,
Starting point is 01:07:41 I think this shit's going to go, I didn't think it was going to be this mental, but I was like, okay, I think this shit's going to be pretty mental. I got a really good pull-up bar. Like not one that... It goes in a doorway But then it comes out like massive
Starting point is 01:07:51 Of the doorway Yeah, you got that triangle body going on because of it Yeah, but let's get into the point now Where I'm just like, I just want to fucking... I don't know, I just want to lift a weight I thought about it today When I was walking home with a four pinter of milk I was like, honestly,
Starting point is 01:08:09 I know it's a bit like prison But I could fill four of these with concrete And put a broom in between them and tape it up and it would be weight. There's your dad's engineering brain
Starting point is 01:08:22 coming into play right there. Shout out to the Ian Reynolds brain. Shout out to Ian. Hell yeah. Big Ian. But,
Starting point is 01:08:31 and I said it as a joke to my sister. I was talking to my sister at time and I was like, fuck, I might actually do it. It's sick. It's a great idea.
Starting point is 01:08:40 While you were saying, I mean, it's not my idea. I think it's what they do in jail. Yeah, it's pretty prison. Not with concrete though, they do it with water. Yeah, that's cool, though. Now I want to do that.
Starting point is 01:08:54 I mean, if at the very least, it would make for a good Instagram, wouldn't it? This is what I'm working out with guys. Yeah. That's... Far cheap. No, have you looked at the price of a 20 kilo, like a 45-pound plate at the moment? 100 pound a plate. Really?
Starting point is 01:09:16 Yeah. That makes sense because we just bought some. And yeah, they were pretty. I was like, you can't find anything that is less than that. Well, at least you've got it in fucking stock. Nowhere in England, well, England or Scotland I can find has it in stock for any less than like. I looked and to get a whole rig, not even for that much weight was like over a grand. It's crazy.
Starting point is 01:09:42 Do you guys have, what's your curfew? What time you have a curfew? We're supposed to be in lockdown constantly right now. But that's not a thing. I mean, no one's taking it seriously. Right. Yeah, we have curfew at 6 p.m. But, I mean, nobody...
Starting point is 01:09:58 So what happens if you're out at 6pm? You have to have an attestation with you saying, like, it's like a piece of paper written, like, but you do it on your phone and just like screenshot it and keep it in your camera roll. Like you fill it out, you know, your name where you were born, whatever the stuff blah blah blah where you're going
Starting point is 01:10:18 It's a whole pass It's literally a hall pass It's like I'm I'm going to the bathroom But I'm going to be out For two hours Going to the bathroom I mean
Starting point is 01:10:27 That sounds like a good idea That's what they should have here Instead they've got Everyone has to be locked down At all times But absolutely no one is doing it And there's no policing of it And it's like
Starting point is 01:10:39 You're not allowed You have to work from home And then in the small print It's if you can If you can't work So there's like a loop hole where if if your phone if your company has like a hardwired phone line then people can still go to work and travel and touch the fucking touch the fucking trains are still running here
Starting point is 01:11:01 trains are running people are at paris you know what i mean like uh it's dude i don't it it's not going to end until the vaccine because yeah that's it's fucking around doing everything that's it that's it that's it And, you know, the more and more, whatever, cases and, you know, people are getting sick, no one's going to feel comfortable until they are reassured. You know what I mean? Like, nobody knows anything. So it's like-
Starting point is 01:11:31 So what are you going to do when you get, are you registered for doctors there? I have to have my traveler's insurance, but this is all pending on when my visa. Here's the thing with the long visa is you cannot make an appointment until three weeks prior to when you want the appointment. And you cannot schedule that appointment until like two or three weeks before you leave. So basically, I am leaving France February 22nd. I'm going back to New York. I'm hoping to schedule an appointment for March 1st. Oh, right.
Starting point is 01:12:10 Which then hopefully get my visa approved, which is then to come back. middle of March, late March, however it works. Dude, it's... And then hopefully you can get a vaccination while you're in the States. Because I'm currently... I'm not registered with the doctors in Scotland, and I got a thing from my doctors where I'm still registered fucking in England,
Starting point is 01:12:28 saying, we'll let you know when you're ready for vaccination. I was like, oh, fuck, I need to fucking sign up to a doctor's here. I was they going to be like, do you want to drive five hours for a vaccine? Yeah, right. I mean, like, I haven't seen any of my men. mail in months in New York. So, you know, all I have is, like, you know, what's being sent here from, like, government
Starting point is 01:12:49 and stuff like that. But I'm sure there's going to be some kind of statements and whatever mail for me, telling me what I need to do. That to me, though, is, like, I need to be able to live in my house. So that's step one is, like, to be able to do everything legally is, like, the most important thing for me. But, you know, I, uh, it's crazy, though. because I'll be, I'll be, like, out in the park, like, walking the dog or something.
Starting point is 01:13:19 And then, like, you know, you forget, like, what's going on because you get so used to adapting to this way of life now. And then, like, you just see, like, a group of people with masks on. And then it hits you again. You're like, where, like, what? This is fucking crazy. You know what I mean? Like, I'm sure it happens to everyone. Like, you know, it's like anything else.
Starting point is 01:13:39 You do something for long enough. You start to forget about it. and then it just, you know, moments like that, I only notice when I see right back. I only notice when I see, like, stuff on TV where people are like, there's like 10 people hugging and I'm like, I get like a pang of, that's not right.
Starting point is 01:13:56 Right, right. I wonder if it's going to fuck, like, it's going to, like, really mess a certain age bracket up. Like, not only the ones that aren't going to school, but I mean, like, kids who are at an age when affection is really, really important. Yeah, this is the beginning of... Not being able to touch or hug or whatever.
Starting point is 01:14:16 It's the beginning of a Black Mirror episode. That's what this is. I reckon we're going to get some fucking crazy mask fetishes. In about like 20 years, there's going to be some insane, like, no contact fucking... We're a Pornhub category called No Contact or something like to do with this. And we'll have all have forgotten about it, but it's like people who's development, at this stage right now I'm fucking skating on thin ice here
Starting point is 01:14:45 I love it that's why I'm not saying a word I'm loving every second of it like whatever you know whatever age you are when shit forms in your mind that later turns you on like I don't know what age that is like some Freudian shit
Starting point is 01:15:01 but whoever whatever age group if it's fucking whatever is living through that right now I want to know what they're into in like 20 years what's that I agree going to be. No touch.
Starting point is 01:15:15 I don't know, man. But the thing is... It's such a boardline conversation. I know, but the thing is, is like, you've thought of that. For the record, I'm talking about grown-ups here. Yeah. Yeah, of course. Of course.
Starting point is 01:15:30 We were not... We were in the bed with each other. Yeah, we're talking about the group of people. Yeah, we're talking about the group of people that are young now when they grow up. Yes. what kind of fetishes they're going to have. It's a shame. But here's the thing.
Starting point is 01:15:45 I'm not going to stop thinking about this now. So thank you for feeling the rest of my night. Can you just tell me what, no, but it's just like, obviously there's going to be mental, like, let's,
Starting point is 01:16:01 I mean, I don't know why I went immediately to sex fetish, but like even just like a handshake, a business handshake, there's going to be a group of people who, should be learning stuff like that now that aren't going weird they'll end up doing the fucking hug from stepbrothers that's so crazy i you know back to like greetings and stuff you're
Starting point is 01:16:26 talking about like i thought in my head at first i was like did it get like crazy in places like Italy and Spain because of the kissing, the two kisses. You know what I mean? Like, was that a thing like that might have made it worse? No. There's no hands soap in the fucking venues. That's true too. But I was...
Starting point is 01:16:51 No, you're... That's a great point. You know? Because I remember like the first time that I was here in France and like, you know, actually no. it hit me when when elida came to new york first she asked me how do i say hello to people and i was like i don't know you just say hello like what she's like no do i like kiss them i was like no don't kiss anybody kiss me don't don't kiss and she was and then she explained what she meant and i was like
Starting point is 01:17:21 oh no no no no no and like you don't have to do that like you just for a minute you were like who is this yeah i thought we're in love okay what's up who can i kiss yeah exactly so what's the deal here who else can i kiss this open or not So then bringing it back to when I came here and meeting, you know, her friends and family for the first time, you know, that was like I was kissing everybody, you know, two times each cheek, you know, saying hello. That's just tradition and normal for them. And it's normal for me now. But like it got me to thinking what I said earlier, you know, was that a cause of it spreading quicker, you know, I don't know. It's weird.
Starting point is 01:18:01 Well, it's, I'm sure it might be a. scientific research. I'm not a scientist. Honestly, when I saw the list of places where it was spiking really, really bad, I was like, I have never found hand soap in a venue in any of those places. And I honestly just thought maybe there's a hygiene difference.
Starting point is 01:18:23 Yeah, but you know what? Your reasoning is much less offensive than mine. I mean, it's not... Am I wrong? You're not wrong because, I think that's also like the lack of pride and caring for like, you know, you go to a place like a venue in Germany. It's perfect. But what I was about to, what I was about to say, though, if my theory was right and it's about the hand soaping venues, then everyone in Munich would be dead.
Starting point is 01:18:57 True. Backstage Munich. You mean the coat wreck? I mean, no, the fucking, you know, the venue with all the little venues inside it. Oh, actually backstage Munich. Actually the venue. The venue backstage. Have you ever washed your hands anywhere except catering in there and there's been hand soap?
Starting point is 01:19:17 Never. In the 10 years that I've been going to that place. Have a look at where COVID spiked in Germany and if it's Munich, then my hand soap in venues is correct. You're right. My hypothesis. this. Now, I, I, you know what's crazy is like, as, as an American, I, like, I just feel like guilty when I say anything.
Starting point is 01:19:40 You know what I mean? Like, it's such a crazy way to feel. Like, I, I always think I'm being, like, offensive. Like, even when I said, about the kissing or the handsop, like, I just feel like I'm just constantly, like, on eggshells about it. You know what I mean? Because, I mean, I got that here in fucking, like, you feel like everyone just immediately hates you off the bat.
Starting point is 01:20:01 Yes. Yeah, I have that in Scotland. But I'm learning it's absolutely not the case. But the minute I speak, someone goes, you're not from around it. And I think they're then going to be like, we fucking hate the English. And then they're actually really, really nice. Right. But I'm walking around the same as you.
Starting point is 01:20:18 Yeah. Mumbling so people don't realize. I mean, I can't hide it. I mean, I step outside. Hey, yo, what a French. I'm Drew York. so good. I can't, I can't hide it and I, I've never tried. It's just like, yep, well, it's like, who said it? I think it was, I think it was Tom. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was Tom. Like, I think we had
Starting point is 01:20:47 been on tour in Europe for just too long. And, you know, you get to that point where people are just staring at you constantly, you know, not even, not even if, not even talking about, like, in a venue or something, if, like, you know, there's people that may recognize you, for, you know, them coming to see your band, but, like, just in general. And I think one time Tom was just so always like, what, what, what are you looking at? Like, yes, I am not from around here. I am an American. That wasn't people that were at the show.
Starting point is 01:21:15 That was like in a fucking supermarket. I think we were at like a rest stop in like Italy or something. I don't, I don't know. Maybe this is just. No, I remember he walked through, he walked through. And it was just in a shitty mood because he hadn't slept or something. and just because we're obviously from either America you know somewhere that wasn't there
Starting point is 01:21:35 and it's just like what why he was just walking around I remember exactly where it was it was France it was that little rest stop because I remember I had like a we had a fucking I had a pano choccalade
Starting point is 01:21:50 there you go delicious and there was a McDonald's there everyone went to McDonald's except us and there was I remember exactly where it was the bus was there for a long time for some reason Right.
Starting point is 01:22:00 Do you remember what happened? Yeah, I can't remember. I can't remember, but I miss it. I'll give that rest stop for anything in the world right now. Let's go. First tour back, what would be your all-star lineup? As in what? On the tour?
Starting point is 01:22:19 Being on the tour and then seeing a show. Two. Two separate tours. One, one where you have to work on the tour for 30 days, and then one, you get like a week off, and then like a tour is in your town. Like maybe it's some of your mates and you can just go and fucking rage and let loose.
Starting point is 01:22:35 Okay, so what? Like dream line up when we come back. Are we headlining or is it a support? Well, dream tour, main support. Oh, yeah. Main support. Whatever you feel. Sorry, guys.
Starting point is 01:22:49 It's early shows. So you've only got 25 minutes and your main support. Perfect. Give it to it. Sorry, guys. you've just made my year. Oh, we only get 25 minutes? Oh, fuck, that's a shame.
Starting point is 01:23:06 Okay, so main support, we're main support. It's hard not to just, like, base it on who do I want to support because their fucking crowds are massive. No, you can do it. I can do it. I can easily just merge massive crowds, mates, architects, straight from the path. Who else?
Starting point is 01:23:25 I don't give a fuck about anyone else. Architects stray from the path Um let's say Europe and then Oh no I would like I'd like this I'd like architects because they'll have their own fucking bus or 10 fucking buses or whatever
Starting point is 01:23:41 Architects and then you get a bus Which is Stig, Stray counterparts Oh my God And it's Europe Whatever fucking bat shit venues they play Like oh sorry we're playing We're playing basically we're playing
Starting point is 01:23:57 Southern England, Northern England, and Scotland, and it's actually just giant outdoor events. Yeah, because if you look at architects in the venues that they do, and then you put Stig into the mix and the venues that they do in Europe,
Starting point is 01:24:12 it's like, okay, it's fucking... I would fucking kill someone for that tour right now. I would go out... And having counterparts with it? Oh, my God. You want me to murder someone for that tour to happen? I'll do it. I'll do it. As long as you let me do the tour and then just put me in the fucking jail.
Starting point is 01:24:27 I'll actually just fucking kill myself at the end. Wow. The joke's on you. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway. So that's that one. And then that also actually combines, like, I would want to watch architects every night.
Starting point is 01:24:40 And then, like, going to see a show. I think the only fucking, the only heavy music I'm still listening to when I work out is my sugar and gojira. Sounds about right? You sleep into that music, too, with whips and chains going on in the back? No. If anyone doesn't know what that is, is because in the van, I listen to black metal to go to sleep
Starting point is 01:25:03 because I like the wall of noise pummel's me to sleep. But because I've just got AirPods, everyone else can hear like crazy Jimmy Borgia and then I'm like sleeping blissfully. It's awesome. Not that I watch them sleep all the time, but you know,
Starting point is 01:25:18 when you're in close proximity with somebody, you know, you kind of notice what's going on and their routine day after day and when Craig Zenzsvitz with whipping and chains noises and where did the whipping and chains comes up?
Starting point is 01:25:31 It's just to make it more dramatic. I mean it's funny though because the Dimme Borga album which is actually a big sleep album for me actually has a naked woman covered in chains on the front. See? That's what I'm talking about. Yeah, you're accurate. But you can't hear it. The chains aren't in the music.
Starting point is 01:25:48 So now it's your turn to tell me your dream tour after I've just fucking knocked it out of the park with that one. I just want to see Batushka live. Okay, so you're Your dream tour is Stray from the path, but Tushka. No, Stray's not on it. I'm just like grateful.
Starting point is 01:26:06 I'm like a dead head, but I'm a Cushka head. Oh, nice. Yeah, we're just on stage with him. I'm kind of into it. Okay, well, you're not going to answer my question then. Stray, Prada, Gideon, Loath. Oh, wait. We already did that.
Starting point is 01:26:26 Oh, it was so sick, though. That was the best. I'd give anything to be back there. Here's a thing. I wonder if Loth would play under Gideon now because they haven't had time to blow up because they've released an album and then the world stopped.
Starting point is 01:26:41 I feel really sorry. Obviously, you're not. Yeah, I feel bad. That sucks. I feel bad because so fucking hyped, albums fucking sick. And then haven't had a chance to tour it. I'm going to hit you right now with the tour.
Starting point is 01:26:55 Straight, E, T, Glass Shaw, Loth. Adios. Australian Eatid fucking needs to happen again soon. Yeah, that, oh my God. That big brothers right there, man, they're, they're unfuckwithable.
Starting point is 01:27:11 Live, the people, the bands, everything that they do and stand for, the band is unfuck withable. Eid, it's perfect. Yeah, that is a great lineup.
Starting point is 01:27:23 Right, so, Nanuk, if you're listening, fucking sort that out. I'm sorry what I said about the, two shows in one day thing, we'll still do that if you want. I'm not doing that, Nook. But I do love you. Oh, the best.
Starting point is 01:27:38 If anyone doesn't, that's our tour booker and he's the fucking best human on earth. He really is. He's getting really fucking strong as well. I don't want to fucking, you know, you've seen him getting strong as fuck. Yeah, I'm fucking so happy for him. He, like, any time, like, I post like something about exercising or see him posting, you know, we're always, you know, supporting one each other, liking the thing. Get it, buddy.
Starting point is 01:27:59 Yeah, get it, get it. I love it, man. Sweat emoji, which can also become emoji. Wow. Yeah, it can be. But you know what? Not just to think about Nanuk and all of us being together, you know what's 15 minutes away from me and it's completely shut down the entire time I've been here? What?
Starting point is 01:28:17 Take a guess. We go there all of the time in Europe, mostly with Nanuk. You've got a Vapiana? 10 minutes from my house and it's closed. They don't even do Uber Eats. I don't reckon Vapiano's going to make it out of the fucking... I don't think they will either. But, I mean, at the same time, because I think about it like this,
Starting point is 01:28:38 Vapiano's, like, it's pasta, right? When you, like, nobody really orders, like, pasta when they want something to be delivered. They do, like, sushi, burgers, stuff like that. Pasta, you could cook so quickly and easily at home. So people, like, I guess they don't even... It never as good. It's never as good. No, because Vapiano's is fucking the god of pasta.
Starting point is 01:29:05 God fucking dear. But, dude, it hasn't been open, and I don't know how if I don't like it. Do you know what? I've just seen Tom. I just got a notification that Tom has jumped in on the kid that was talking about architects. Because when I tweet something like that, I think, oh, Tom's going to be annoyed at me. Because Tom sometimes has to rain me in a bit on Twitter. I was going, you probably should have said that.
Starting point is 01:29:32 Not in any kind of like go and delete it way, but my, you know, I'm one career ending tweet away from ending all of your careers. Yeah. But I thought, you know, maybe this will be one where Tom's like, you know, that kid, now that sounds bad. He's the voice of reason. I'm a very fucking angry person
Starting point is 01:29:55 and I just fucking tweet when I'm angry. And sometimes he's like, are you sure you want to tweet that? He's actually quite, quite good for that. But I've just saw he, he's just jumped in on that kid that was saying about the new architect
Starting point is 01:30:06 being shit. Yeah. Yes. Okay, good. Yeah. That's one thing that we're all collectively not standing for is I'm not the fucking
Starting point is 01:30:13 Amazon Prime of music. I don't owe you my new thing to sound like the old thing. The old thing's always there. Yeah, like if you don't like it and you send it back, I'm not giving you like a promo code
Starting point is 01:30:25 for something else. Like, you're not... If you don't like it, you would leave. It's just, Yo, if you don't like it, then keep your mouth shut, keep that opinion to yourself. And, uh,
Starting point is 01:30:37 just don't tell me. Tell your friends. Have a big old bitch. But don't at me and go, like someone fucking left a comment on my shit the other day. On a really old video, much preferred it when you played stuff like this. Now it's, all you do is play blast beats and straight from the past stuff.
Starting point is 01:30:53 I said, sorry, bro. And that's the one where you were just blasting for like two minutes. Oh, yeah. So, fuck. Yeah. Like, you've just went, he opened it with like, oh, I've been watching these for hours.
Starting point is 01:31:05 Much preferred it when you did stuff like this. Well, you've just had another few hours of entertainment, mate. It's still there. It's always going to be there. Sorry that I'm not fucking doing exactly what you want. Listen up, everyone. The world doesn't revolve around you. Amazon Prime shipping times don't apply to small businesses.
Starting point is 01:31:22 Right. While I'm at it, get a fucking haircut, guys. Yeah. You're allowed to have long hair, but just, make yourself look nice. I'll see all these people looking back. I'm just going fucking nuts. I'm just letting you roll.
Starting point is 01:31:36 Let's go, baby. No, but it's like... I don't really care about your hair, guys, but I care about my air, and I want to go to a barbers, and that's why I'm projecting. What are you working with right now? Take off that hat.
Starting point is 01:31:46 Let's see it. I shaved it. You shaved it? Yeah, so does... I got to fucking add a little bit of fucking toner to my shit. It's looking like someone took a piss on my head. But you've got...
Starting point is 01:31:57 No, you look great. You've got, like... You have pink in there? It's hard to tell. Yeah, because the purple lighting behind you. It's hard to see. I just get fucking bored, and I live with fucking old colorful bollocks. So I'm just like, oh, just give us a bit of that.
Starting point is 01:32:11 What you got today, blue? Give us a bit of that, blue. Yeah, fuck it, why not? Truck a bit in there. Also, just like, I just, just, I need some kind of expression. Yeah. I can't express myself, Drew. I bought a...
Starting point is 01:32:30 a flannel vest combination the other day. Didn't know how I was going to feel about it, but I needed it. It's a good vibe. It's a nice vibe. I thought I was off the vests many, many moons ago. I'm back in the vest game. So I bought overalls.
Starting point is 01:32:46 I want to do that too. And I was like, I don't think that, yeah, like just black fucking dungarees. And I was like, this is outrageous. Who do I think I am? And I put them on with like an orange hoodie underneath it, orange hat. And I was like, fucking Berlin rapper, let's go.
Starting point is 01:33:02 It's a vibe that I... Still too scared to post it on the internet though, but... Do it. Who the fuck cares? I'm just, uh, I'm just, uh, I'm just, I'm in the lab cooking up new looks. When we come to and we come... Who the fuck cares? When we come back on tour, me and you are in like fucking leopard print dinosaur fucking suits. Be careful with that leopard print because that's coming out soon.
Starting point is 01:33:22 But who cares, posted? Who's going to care? The kid who has shitty hair and hates architects? Fuck him. I don't actually know if that kid had shit your hair. I was just actually looking at my own reflection thinking I need a haircut. I'm going to project this on to other people. I just told an innocent kid. He's not innocent.
Starting point is 01:33:39 I just told the kid. I feel bad about that. An innocent kid. He's not innocent. No, he's not. Drew, I'm hungry. We've done this for an hour and a half. Yeah, I'm fucking starving.
Starting point is 01:33:53 Okay. Do you know what I sometimes get people saying as well? What? Like, really annoyed. Why did you end this episode? at whatever, it was really good. We're saying, meow, we're saying right meow, that we're both hungry. So that's why.
Starting point is 01:34:10 I honestly had, I can't remember what episode it was. Some kid was like, why did you end the episode at whatever time it was? Because the fucking conversation had dried up. Not that this has dried up, but at this time I'm hungry. And all of the episodes actually end with me going, yo, I'm hungry or I'm going to do this or whatever. How else are you going to fucking end it? Seriously, I'm actually from. fucking starving. What time is it?
Starting point is 01:34:33 5.30? If the Patreon gets to 5,000 pounds a month, you can have five-hour episodes. Until that point, my man gotta eat. That's right, baby. You gotta stay fed. You gotta stay proteinized. That's not a word. I'll take it. At this point, nothing's a word, is it?
Starting point is 01:34:54 Dude, I don't even know anymore. Nothing is real. Anyway, on the last, the last thing, A, nothing is real. B, just be nice see Drew is doing features and you can contact him on all this fucking shit cheers mate
Starting point is 01:35:10 what's your shit what's your shit just hit me up on Instagram that's it Instagram and if you're listening and you like work at Pixar
Starting point is 01:35:20 and you're like I got an idea for Monsters Inc 4 with two new characters one of which is a sort of Long Island Italian vibe And the other is like a little
Starting point is 01:35:33 fucking English worm man. To both very well. Then, well no, I wanted to be one. Oh, yeah. Shut us up. Can you imagine if Why don't we, how, never mind. Different, different conversation.
Starting point is 01:35:47 See, this is, why don't we contact Pixar? Yeah, what do we contact Pixar and have, have them created a new movie about a couple of uncles? A couple of uncles. one, no, like, I'm like a, like a duck, like a, like a dirty, like cool looking duck and you're like a cool looking English worm and we just like roam around looking for, you know, our lost. What is cool looking? Like we got sunglasses on.
Starting point is 01:36:14 Yeah, we definitely have sunglasses on. You have a chain and a gold worm tooth. See? That is cool. Yeah, I'm a cool worm. See? I got like a jacket on over my wings that, but the wings come through so I can fly. Oh, no, yeah.
Starting point is 01:36:29 You got a vest. Yeah, I got a vest. I told you, I'm a vest guy. I'm a vest duck. My vest, he's got a nice vest. And then, like, duck guy's got cool, like a cool quiff.
Starting point is 01:36:39 Like, uh, just like your text book, how are you going to make this kind of character cool? He's got Wayfarers on and, uh, like a quiff thing. Like the fonts of ducks, but with a vest.
Starting point is 01:36:51 Yeah. Anyway, if you work at Disney, Dreamworks, Pixar, you know, any of the big ones, it would even take the,
Starting point is 01:36:59 smaller ones, whoever did, like, flushed away and, uh, you know, that sort of shit. Chicken run. Then, we guys, that's it. It's the Downbeat podcast, a very professional podcast. Uh, yeah, that's it. I love you very much. I love you. You fucking send me a thing and I'll put this on the internet.
Starting point is 01:37:20 That's it. That's all she wrote, baby. How we do it. What are you going to eat? What are you going to eat? Let's end it with what we're going to eat. I have no idea what I'm going to cook. I'm going to fucking shame myself here. Do it.
Starting point is 01:37:30 I'm going to go and get a steak. Okay. I've been, I'm, like, you know, I've never claimed to be veggie or vegan, but I do, last night I had the Nando's vegan meal. Nando's. Nando's, is open.
Starting point is 01:37:51 Oh, my God. They do a Nando's, like a fake chicken now in a wrap. It's fucking unbelievable. I can't wait. And like the night before I had a vegan, a vegan dinner. But tonight I'm like, I'm going to have a steak. I'm sorry, everyone. It's all good.
Starting point is 01:38:06 What are you having? Now you're going to be like, oh, I'm having fucking tofu. Now I'm fucking feeling like a piece of shit. No, I'm not having tofu. I'm probably going to make like some kind of energy bowl type of thing. Like rice, lentils. Batteries. Batteries.
Starting point is 01:38:28 which is also, also means drum in French. Battery. Le batter. It's, anyway, I'm not going to go there right now because I'm hungry. And I have a lot of questions for a lot of different things. But no, I'll do like lentils, rice, broccoli, sweet potato maybe, maybe some avocado. We'll see what happens. No protein.
Starting point is 01:38:50 What's your protein? My lentils, baby. Are you fucking Vigie? Are you veggie now? Oui. We? But vegan or veggie? Veggie.
Starting point is 01:39:00 Nah, I got a... We live in France. There's cheese everywhere. There's cheese like coming from the ceiling. Cheese on the tree. No, it's hard. But to be honest, most days during the week, it's... I'm eating pretty much vegan because, like, I'll, like, try not to fucking snack too hard, you know?
Starting point is 01:39:20 Like... I mean, that's the same for me, but... I mean, tonight I was just going to fucking... Tonight I'm in like a self-harmy mood. Yeah, self-harm tonight. I go for it. Go for it. So like I'm going to eat like a piece of shit,
Starting point is 01:39:35 but now you make him feel like a piece of shit. It depends because like it's fucking veggie slash vegan. So if she wants to have dinner, then I'll probably end up cooking something of that nature. Yeah, I just, you know, I stopped, you know, El-D is vegetarian, so it just became more annoying for me to be cooking, you know. That's what I mean. Yeah, same.
Starting point is 01:39:56 And now I just don't even care It's like oh This is just how I eat now It's like when you stop eating something To like maybe better your diet Or whatever you want to do I just don't I don't even think about it And we have so many good like
Starting point is 01:40:08 Like Like Like uh Fake chicken nugget like options And shit like that That we get from the supermarket So like I get my fix with that
