Anytime someone leaves a comment about my intros being rubbish,
the intros get shorter.
Now that is in no way me trying to do less intros
because at times like this when I'm packing for tour
and I have to record three podcast intros
because I'm on tour for six weeks,
it's very annoying.
But, you know, for the most part,
when I start doing these and the dog starts shagging a toy
or fiddling around with stuff or drinking water,
which is fine, she needs to drink water.
We all need to drink water.
there's your reminders
to drink some water.
Is she doing it now?
Who knows?
If you're bored by this,
please skip it.
Please allow me.
Leave me a comment
that you don't like these
because I don't want to do them anymore.
The intros,
I love doing the podcast.
Speaking of the podcast,
give me one pound,
just a pound,
just a quid.
Patreon.com
for slash a downbeat
allows me to do more things like this
and perhaps complain about it less.
You don't get any perks
you might get merch early.
Where would you get the merch early
from?
W-W dot the down B.E.D.A.T.
Boom, that's that done.
My guest this week is Nick Folio from Biggest Band on Earth.
Fast Rising Noise Nix.
USA.
Remember back in the day they would use words like that to describe bands.
They'd run out of adjectives.
Fast-paced sex gods, bad omens.
Biggest band in the world.
world bad omens he was on tour he hit me up i was off the off the clock i was not doing any more
podcast nick hit me up tour with him before with other biggest band in the world spirit box and unroath

fishing, just man stuff.
We drank some IPAs while we talked about motorbikes, fishing, and a little bit about his band.
Nick Folio on the Downbeat podcast, but first a word from those glorious metal poster,
people.
Display.
Display is a poster company with a difference.
They make metal posters, and I mean literally metal, not Satan.
and shout in and not showering for days on end, literally made of metal.
Displates mount on the wall with a magnet.
No holes, no drilling, no nonsense.
If you're renting, the included protective leaf means you're not going to mess your walls up,
just attach the leaf to the wall, add the magnet, and then mount your disc plate.
Because disc plates are magnetic, not only does it take a second to adjust,
but you can swap them out depending on your mood,
are you having some sort of manic episode, you want bright colours, are you depressed?
With display, there's an option to 3D print a frame to the side of the front.
poster. It's not a real frame, but it is textured like a real frame. And at the sort of distance that
you should be looking at a poster from, it definitely looks like a real frame. If you're looking at
your posters really, really close up, you're probably up to something a bit weird. They've got
official stores with bands like Gojira, Ghost, Judas Priest, Slipknot, as well as movies, games.
We even made a Downbeat store. All of the coolest Downbeat merch designs. We got the coffee club
design. We got tons on there. They've got tons of other stuff. You can get 20% of
any display using the code downbeat if you buy three or more you get 30% off I get a
little bit of kickback from that you can support the podcast you can support
whatever I do and your rooms can look cool AF while doing it
I'm really dry it every we're going by the way it's all where he started
beautiful provided your your levels are good yeah do me a favor just just
just have it like quite close to you I might turn mine hey hey hey
I'm not going to edit this out.
Everyone goes,
Oh, why don't you edit the bit when you're setting up?
Why don't you shut the fuck up?
Yeah.
I'll do whatever I want.
Oh, I'm trying to, in my head, I'm trying to swear less.
You can swear.
I'm...
Shit.
As in you swear.
Oh, it doesn't matter.
What I might do is pay an editor to get them out.
Because my last, my North Lane one was demonetized for excessive swearing.
I didn't say the C-word.
they might have but
but that's a thing
that's part of their culture
it means part of the culture it just means mate
I'll just double check everything's running
everything's running we look good
Nick Folio
Cheers
Thanks for coming
Thanks for having me
These are my favorite episodes
Someone I know number one
They're on a day off
So we can do it in nighttime
We can have a couple of drinks
this is what I want the podcast to be.
Yeah.
I don't want, like, oh, I'm on vocal rest, so I can do 20 minutes.
Or like, oh, I've got to go sound.
Like, obviously, I just want people in here, but.
Normally you do stuff like this, like, in the middle of the day.
This is cooler.
And there's no vibe.
You don't get that in the middle of the day?
No.
You wouldn't be able to see it.
It'd be light.
And I'm not going to, if anyone's like, oh, you're not being a professional.
This is an unprofessional episode.
Confirmed.
It's not you.
It's me.
I'm off the clock.
He's clocking out.
We've got two drinks here.
One of them is neither are sponsored.
If you're listening to this and not watching the YouTube, you're a fool.
Because this glorious, Nick looks amazing.
I look okay.
You look good.
Thank you.
But we've got two drinks here.
One is yellow.
One is brown.
a couple of Pilsners from Drop Projects who did send me free beer,
but aren't an official sponsor,
and Maker's Mark, who definitely did not send me free whiskey,
and I was very welcome to send me free whiskey.
Maker's Mark and Coke.
You're a whiskey guy.
Yeah.
Do you normally mix it with Coke, or are you just doing this?
I don't drink it straight.
Yeah, I'm not like a massive straight whiskey guy.
You'll see me go like this.
Oh my God.
Yeah, it's great.
Love it.
Yeah, I like a...
Let's have a little go.
Yeah.
ASMR.
Lovely.
How has your day off been today?
We're in Glasgow.
Day off's been great.
What have you done?
What you've been up to?
I got brunch with some of the boys this morning.
What did you have?
I had eggs, a stack of pancakes, some home fries.
Where did you go for that?
It's right...
Oh, the place downstairs.
Behind the garage, yeah.
Yep.
Yeah, I have had the pancakes there.
It was awesome.
Pretty fucking good.
What, um, how are you having your eggs?
There's a serious conversation now.
I used to be a scrambled guy.
Now I'm sunny side up.
Really?
Yep.
Get a little, get a little bread.
Why the switch?
See, this is my ideal podcast.
It seemed more grown up, you know?
Really?
Yeah.
So you just, it was like a, an age decision.
Like my taste buds were like, all right, I like the yolk now.
What happened?
Was there a specific moment?
I'm asking the real question.
No, not a specific moment, but someone was like, you have to try it like this.
And I was like, no.
And I did it and I ended up liking it.
That's fucking funny.
I never think of like egg evolution.
Eggolution.
I never think about eglution.
But I evolved from, actually from Scramble as well, I didn't think of it as an age.
restricted thing but
I went to poached
poached I've never
you put it in a bit of water
yeah judge it up a bit
comes out looking kind of like
a sea beast
it's like
yeah
like stringy shit on it I mean obviously
if you poach it properly but then you get a real
yolk in there in the centre
dip a bit of
dip a bit of bread in try it
I'll try it next time you'll go there in the morning
tomorrow if you're going to the same place I beg
I beg you get poached eggs.
I'll do it.
And I'll send you a little pick.
Do you know what's funny about this as well?
The episode that will go out before this is Steve Judd from that band Carnival.
And we had an extensive poached egg conversation on that as well.
Is he a poached egg kind of guy?
He's a poached egg guy.
But he goes one further.
I was like, my new thing is, especially if someone's on tour, I'm like, what'd you have for breakfast?
So I'm glad we got that out of the way early.
But I'm like, what's you?
your breakfast order because I would like to know people's breakfast orders
because I don't give a fuck about music
I care about eating.
Yeah.
And he said he has a bowl of oats or porridge
and then two eggs on the side.
And I was like, well that's progressive.
You're in a progressive band, I get it.
But I was like, what are the eggs on the side?
Expecting like scrambled egg.
Like so maybe he wants to get his protein in and it just wouldn't.
Yeah, a little something extra.
Two poached eggs on the side, not even with any things.
just two little eggy testicles
just in a little fucking pot
I was like
come on it works
I watched him play that night
he fucking ripped
poached eggs
and now every time I see his
breakfast on his story
I keep going and want to reshare it
and then I remember no one's seen the episode yet
so no one's going to get it
but this will be an in joke
especially with your fans
your fans love your band
more than
more than any band I can think of
yeah
is it
stressful
bear in mind
I'm not going to edit anything
so don't
tell me you hate it
just tell me it's great
I just
I see so much
like you have
the craziest fan base
that I've seen
since architects
it's a lot man
it's definitely a lot
you know
didn't think that would
happen
even as a drummer
are you getting
no
I feel like I get it
people notice me more over here
than in the States
because they don't really
I feel like they appreciate us more here
because we don't come here often
but man I feel like
bad for some of the other guys
one of the other guys
yeah
come on as we honest
one of the other guys
oh poor fucking bastard
well anyway if you're watching
this for any of
gossip about Noah
that was it
that's it
this is about Nick
you idiot
You don't watch the rest of the episode.
And I actually hope something else comes up about him.
Yeah.
So you don't see it.
Anyway.
When you're in Glasgow, have you, I should have brought some.
What?
Buckfast.
Have you ever had Buckfast?
Someone told me about that before I came overseas and I'm like, what is this?
He's like, it's like alcohol?
Yeah.
Like a four loco?
I mean, yeah, but think of like,
imagine they had four loco in ancient times,
because it's technically like it's a fortified wine, they call it.
It's made by monks in an abbey.
So you think, oh, it's monk wine.
That sounds quite professional.
Yeah.
It's a higher caffeine content than Red Bull,
but it's also wine, about 12, 15% wine.
It tastes super sweet.
So it's sugar, alcohol.
caffeine like a fall
loco but an ancient like
caveman fall oco and over
here they call it wreck
the hoose juice
which wreck the house juice
rhymes in Scottish
because people just
drink a whole bottle of it and then commit crimes
oh like crazy shit
yeah like for loco which I should
I should actually just if you work for a buckfast
then you want to sponsor the Downbeat podcast
we could have a lovely couple of bottles we could try
That could be a thing.
I'm not doing it for free.
Someone has to give me money for that.
How long has you all been?
Four weeks.
What week are we on?
Well, it's been four weeks today, but we have three left.
Three shows?
Three weeks left.
Holy shit.
And we did, before this started, we did a cruise, shiprocked.
Ship rocked.
I think that...
I saw the tweets.
flashing.
Yeah.
It wasn't flashing.
Is there a quick question?
Is there fan fiction?
Is there bad omens fan fiction?
That's out there.
Is it?
Yeah.
Yeah.
That used to be, because I feel like fan fiction is dying off.
I've seen it before.
I feel like I'm, I should have a section of the podcast, which is called the band,
the Buckfast fan fiction section.
And we sit down and we read.
We read a fan fiction while sipping on Buckford.
bust.
God, I wish we could pause this and go and get it,
but I drank too much to drive now,
so I'm going to have to get you an Uber back.
Fuck, what was I talking about?
This is bad.
This would be an episode where I start to get drunk,
and they're just...
Like it.
Unruly.
Hang on.
Oh, why don't you edit out the noises?
Listen, this is just two friends having a drink,
and we've let you in,
and I'm attempting to talk about
stuff you want to hear about.
Really, I want to talk about
fishing.
and, you know, other American sports and pastimes.
Did you say you had four weeks?
Four weeks so far, and then three more.
I know it's seven total.
Seven weeks? That's what my brain couldn't get my head wrong.
Seven weeks total, and then I fly home for four days,
and then go to Australia for 12 days.
Then what?
Then I come home.
I got April off, 30 days at home, I'm pumped.
And then we got like a May run.
Some festivals.
What do you do in your time off?
Well, I fish a lot.
Me and my mates will go fishing.
I knew it.
Done my research.
Ride Harleys.
Is it?
Yeah.
So I didn't know that.
Yeah.
I got a bike in July.
Fishing in Harleys?
Yeah.
So American.
Okay, well, we're going to, we're going to, we're going to, we're going to tackle those in two separate things.
What kind of fishing do you do?
Trout.
Trout, you're a troutman.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, nice.
I got a trout on my, my chest.
Have you?
Yeah, we're part of that in trout chest.
Oh, that's pretty fucking good.
A little brooky.
That's a bit of old-school eagle with a trout.
Like it.
A bit for the, bit for the ladies.
or men or, no, whoever actually, I take that back.
Yeah, whoever.
What, um, so like, I don't know anything about fishing.
So, you know, bass?
Yeah.
Okay, I look at it like, bass are the easiest fish to catch.
Right?
Why?
I don't know, but you said, I don't know anything about fishing.
He said, bass are the easiest, right?
Okay, I'm...
See, I don't know.
Explain it to me like I'm five.
So bass fishing is super,
easy. Why? Because they'll eat anything. Got it. But the trout, like if they see you, they're
going to come up and they're going to, they're bye-bye. Is it? You got to sneak up on them.
With what? What bait you got? You want to know my secrets. I want to know the recipe. Talk to me.
All right. Well, I use a six pound test, which is a line, only six pound. It's about to say
that's a lot of testosterone. Yeah. Six pounds of testosterone.
Gets me in the mood.
And I use this thing called a woolly bugger.
It's like a fat, hairy little bug with blades.
Do you know what?
I think I've seen those before because I used to be in a band with a carp fisherman.
People use them in carp fishing?
Mm-hmm.
All right.
I like to use those a lot.
Well, what do you put on the end of the fucking hook?
Nothing.
There's a hook.
There's a hook.
I call it a trouble hook.
It's called a treble hook, but I call it a trouble hook,
because if you're going to run into trouble if that thing gets you.
You're screwed.
You have to pull the barb out and snap it off.
Oh shit.
Yeah.
So wait, these fish are just going around eating hooks without any food?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
What?
I thought you had to, like, put a worm on it.
You can.
Is that just in cartoons?
No, that's real.
I've done that a lot, too.
But I think it's like the action of the blade and then the sun.
They see that and they're like, what the fuck is that?
I better put it in my mouth.
Yeah.
And it's too late.
Yeah.
So then what do you do?
Like obviously no judgment, I don't care.
You eat the trout or what?
I don't, yeah.
I do.
But I'm not like, I don't go out every day.
Oh, I got to catch 20 of them.
And I hate people that do that.
That like, they post fish.
Yeah.
I'll catch my limit and be good for a few weeks, you know.
And then what?
Do you just eat, are you going around eating mad amounts of trout?
I like to give them away.
You know, I don't know.
I know a lot of people that like to eat them, so I'll clean them, I'll vacuum seal them.
There you go.
Trout dinner.
How big is a trout?
Man, they can anywhere from 12 to in the 20s, inches.
Like.
I love when people use inches because I just think of drums.
Oh, yeah.
So we've got a rack tom to a moderately size kick drum.
It's like a 12-inch rack tom to maybe a 22-inch kick.
Wow.
Yeah, it's big.
Big fillets.
What do they sound like?
So, see, I'm like, I eat meat.
I eat meat from a shop.
So I'm the worst.
Yeah.
When people are against someone's hunting to eat,
it's not like you're out there going to fucking shoot a lion in the face.
Yeah.
To take a photo and go, oh yeah, done this.
Put on the wall.
No shit.
A gun killed a lion.
Well done.
No, but people have given me shit for it before, but I don't care.
Who?
Bad Omen's fans.
No offense, I can make that joke.
He can't make the joke.
Don't make a joke.
Don't even laugh.
Just people in general, you know.
I'm like, all right.
Fishings.
They don't have pain.
They don't have pain receptors.
You know what I mean?
See, I don't know anything about anything.
I catch them at least too.
It's not just I'm not.
keeping everything I bring up, you know.
It's fun.
Pick your battles.
The guy's fucking having a little fish, all right?
Yeah.
If anything, I bought a steak from a shop the other day.
It was packaged in a fucking thing.
Probably had a horrible life.
I felt bad for it.
I wish I'd fished that cow out of the sea myself.
Right, yeah.
Gave some away to my mates.
Okay, we've covered fishing.
Now I'm a professional fishman.
Yeah, we should go.
Seriously.
I would love to go.
I've actually been,
I went
I want to say I went
I didn't go
someone else went
when did I go
you were invited
I was invited
and I didn't go
but it was
fly fishing
I haven't mastered that yet
what's fly fishing
that's when you got that
you know your normal rod
you just do this
yeah
and you don't got to worry about shit
classic rod
classic fly
you got to like whip it out
and you got to hold the line
and let it go
oh is that what it means
I thought it had something to do
with the bay
I thought maybe they used flies as bait.
You know how people hunt with arrows?
Yeah.
It's like fishing.
Fishing with a fly rod.
Yeah.
It was like hunting with a bone arrow.
And actually the guy, it was my housemate at the time, and he came home with a rainbow trout, actually.
I remember this.
And it was very tasty.
We did eat it.
They're good.
Love a bit of trout.
Yeah.
Couldn't eat a whole one.
Couldn't eat at 22.
No.
But 12-inch trout, I reckon I'd have a good.
go. Oh, yeah. You could house that thing.
All right. My motorcycles.
All right. What's the story?
All right. That's a good one.
So my pop rides, and I'm like, you know what? He's getting to that age.
I want to ride with him. So I got my license a few years ago, and I was just, like, couldn't
afford to get a bike. So I kind of waited, but I, like, practice with my friends because
they had spare bikes. And then I came off a tour, and my buddy was like, Folio.
the bike you want is at a dealership right now and I went really and it was online and I was like it's
probably just online they sold it and left it on the website you know no I went up there and
they were asking way too much and my buddy I don't want to I don't want to say what he said but he
like dropped it down a little bit yeah what did you do you rob it he like went up to the guy and
he was like negotiating yeah because they were trying to get me to spend yeah yeah
Yeah, no more.
Yeah.
Say no more.
He dropped it down for me a little bit.
And then I went home and I was like, fuck, what do I do?
I said, fuck it, I'm doing it.
I bought the bike.
I rid to Atlanta, 13 hours.
Really?
Yeah, with my buddy.
On a Harley.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What's the bike?
Because you said they've got the bike that you want.
Is it like a specific?
Yeah, it's a soft hill heritage.
You're going to have to.
What does that mean?
It's, it's, it's, it's, um, it's, it's,
One step below, like, your big bagger.
You know, it's like a touring bike.
Yeah.
So it's comfortable to travel more than four hours.
I love it.
How much is one of those costs?
New, you're looking at, like, 20,000?
I mean, they're still, like...
But they hold value so well.
And also, like, compared to my car, like, that's cheap.
And the gas and insurance.
My insurance is 50 bucks a month.
Really?
Yeah.
That's fucking cool.
Yeah.
Can you actually bring it like,
because I actually thought of it.
Because my, you see where I live, my studios,
the same amount of distance that we just went to Nando's,
my studios in a different direction.
So I'm near everything.
But I've got a fucking car.
I could be doing cool shit.
You should get a bike.
Yeah, but I'll definitely die.
Oh, man.
I would definitely die.
You know, like, scary?
You want to hear something that I haven't even told some of the mates?
Definitely.
me.
So.
I killed a kid.
No.
They're going to hear this for the first time on this.
This is hilarious.
Not hilarious,
but I'll probably tell them.
So two days before our U.S.
headliner,
I had a doctor's appointment
to get my thyroid checked out.
Because the doctor noticed,
you know,
and they tell you to swallow and you.
Yeah.
She was like,
do that again?
She, like, looked at me all weird
and I went,
Is everything good?
She goes, no, you need to go and get a little sonogram ultrasound done.
I'm fine.
But I was like, all right, it's only 20 minutes.
I leave in two days.
I'll take the bike.
Yeah.
So I'm on the highway, traffic.
And this lady rear-ended me from behind, obviously.
And the fucking bike went up.
I went back.
Totally her fault.
I'm fine.
The bike wasn't fine.
An hour after it happened,
I got back on the bike
and drove it to the dealership.
It's been there ever since.
But yeah.
And it's like...
And no one knows.
Your dirty little secret,
even though she did it.
She screwed.
Like, I just didn't want to like,
because my guitar player bought a bike
and I didn't want to freak him out
and like, you know, I'm a very...
very well around like my surroundings.
Yeah.
You know, but, you know, it happens.
You know, there's two types of riders.
Riders that go down were riders who haven't gone down yet.
Yeah.
I kind of got that out of the way, you know.
Oh, fucking.
Yeah.
I'll drink to that.
Well, let's switch drinks.
I'll drink to that.
Lucky it wasn't worse.
Yeah.
How fast were you going?
I was probably only going like five miles an hour.
She hit me at like 30.
Fuck, that could have been way worse.
Oh, yeah.
As if no one knows that.
Just a secret.
It's, yeah.
But you got a cool helmet?
I got a matte black.
Yeah.
Yeah.
See?
I would definitely.
Dark visor.
I even got this little thing.
It's called a Senna, Sina.
It's like a little communication system where I can like talk to all my friends while we're riding.
What, like fucking call a duty, but you're on.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hey man, pull over.
I got a piss.
Really?
Yeah.
You can play music in it.
It has like Harmon Cardin fucking.
Oh, what?
That's cool as fuck.
Yeah.
I love it.
so much.
Maybe I'll be a bike guy.
You should.
I know a lot of people in America who are like getting into bikes or just like have bikes.
It's kind of cool.
It is.
It's freedom.
America, buddy, yeah.
Darn tooting.
I like the accessoryizing with it.
The helmet.
Dude, you can do.
What you got on your bod?
Why are you doing this?
What I got what?
What are you got on your bod?
Like, leathers or?
Oh, yeah.
I got my vest.
A vest.
Oh, I got a vest.
patched up.
Patches?
Yeah.
Oh my God,
that's so sick.
Yeah,
I'm in a,
I'm in a club
called Black Sabbath.
Called Black Sabbath?
Yeah,
they've been around
since 70.
Wait,
it's not racist.
No,
no.
Just got it.
I just got to ask
and get out of the way.
Yeah.
Actually,
funny enough,
it is.
No,
it's actually,
it's an all black club.
Except you?
Well,
there's a few of me.
They're great.
It's really cool, man.
That's fucking awesome.
Yeah.
I love it.
Is there a logo?
Yes.
What's the logo?
It looks like a,
someone from the 70s,
Afro.
Just, just, yeah.
Wait, are you?
You want your logo bars up here?
No, that's uncomfortable.
I mean, yeah, I know.
It is.
People say it's comfortable, but.
What?
No, it's not.
A arm's not supposed to do that.
No, I'm like, if you're,
I'm right here.
So how does it work?
So you got your...
So you taught me through fishing.
I'm a learned fisherman now.
Now I want to learn how to ride a bike.
Hit me.
All right.
You hop on.
You're in neutral, right?
Left lever.
Your clutch right here.
Okay.
Yeah.
You got your break.
Right.
So when you want to go, you click down on the gear shifter with your foot.
While you're holding in the clutch, click down.
And then it's called the friction.
zone. You let off the clutch just a little bit. We drive stick here.
You could totally do it. I can do that with my foot. You could do it. Yeah, I know like, yeah,
we call it the biting point. Yep. You just feel that out and then you just, a little throttle.
Yeah. So do you have to change gears? Yeah. So how do you change gears? God, I'm learning everything
today. You just, when you change gears, when you're going up, you'll hear, you get to like first gear,
2,000 RPMs, pull the thing in, down.
Like stick, but with your hands.
I think it's one down, five up.
What do you mean one down five up?
So you put your foot down.
Yeah.
And then to shift, you got to go up with your foot on the lever.
Oh, so the foot, it's literally like backwards car driving.
Yeah.
See, I can't drive a stick in a car that well, but I can crush a motorcycle.
Between the two of us, we could do both.
Yeah.
Like I could do your foot bit with my hands and I could do your hand.
I could ride a bike upside down is what I'm telling you.
Yeah.
I would totally drive a manual car.
Do you know what though?
That car is my first fully automatic car that I've ever had.
You probably love it though.
You don't got out.
You're in traffic.
You're like.
Yeah, the traffic thing.
And I've never had it.
That's what I hate on the bike.
Traffic?
Jesus.
I've been driving for.
20 years by this point.
And I've never had a car that's like not manual.
And just road rage is gone.
He's like, oh, I'm in traffic.
Doesn't fucking matter.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Whereas it's like, you must be like.
Yeah.
And your feet are like...
Are you sure it was her fault?
Oh, I'm 100%.
Definitely her fault.
God.
Is she paying for it?
You want to hear...
Yeah, she is.
and the crazy part is,
is the insurance company
sent me the quote,
like $1,000,
maybe like $1,200 and I went,
no, no way in hell.
And then Harley,
the dealership sent me their quote.
It was like $9,000 worth of damage
that she did.
Jesus.
Yeah.
And there wasn't a scratch on that thing,
so you know I'm like,
everything is going to be
just the way it was.
But then what she's paying for it?
Yeah.
Thank God
Yeah
That's fucking
There's nothing
I had a really
I got really lucky
Wait is this illegal
I don't think this is illegal
What
What I'm about to tell you
I had a tour
Fuck is it
I don't care
I had a tour coming up
Nah that's not illegal
My car
Was
Fucked
But like
Still past its fucking inspection
And everything
It was fine
You gotta do inspections out here
Like yearly
Yeah
We call them MOTs.
Okay.
My car was like just, you know, drivable, but fuck.
Like, it was making noise and shit.
And I was like, fuck this, I'm going to sell it.
And I, it was the day before I went on tour.
And I came out of like a junction
and this woman just went smash right into the side of my car.
But I was like getting rid of it anyway.
And she was like, fuck, I'm really sorry, it's my fault, blah, blah, blah.
And then I was like, well, I wasn't getting rid of it.
I wanted to get rid of it.
And then I'd obviously have to go for my insurance
And then the insurance paid out more than
I probably would have sold the car.
But it was the biggest pain in the ass ever.
I don't know if this is, am I going to get trouble?
How would I get in trouble?
I'm just talking to myself.
Yeah.
I was going to sell it.
It didn't need to be sold anyway.
And, but like I went to the States the next day for six weeks
and the car insurance people were trying to phone me
and I was on the West Coast.
That is exactly what I had to deal with.
Really?
Yeah, literally the lady hit me.
The next day was supposed to be like my final practice day,
tear down my kit, pack the car.
No, I was going to the doctors just to make sure I was fine
for insurance reasons.
Yeah.
And then that whole tour, I would like sneak outside and call Geico
and be like, what the fuck?
Yeah.
What's nightmare?
I had that with an eight-hour time difference.
so I'd wake up and they'd be trying to call me.
It was just a fucking nightmare.
Yeah.
I can still...
You know how when something happens and you can still kind of relive it?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Is that rage or is it just...
Dude.
It's rage, brother.
Dude, you should have seen how fast I got up.
After it happened, I got up and I turned around and I was like, are you fucking...
What would you have done if it was a deed?
Same thing.
Yeah, but would you have fought?
Would there have been a fight?
No, I don't think there'd be a...
a fight but if
he was like oh I'm not calling the
you know trying to be one of them
I don't have insurance and I you're
going down buddy
God that must be the fucking worst
because in America can you just drive without insurance
people do it yeah but like
is it is it legal to do
no you shouldn't okay yeah it's not legal here either
but I can't remember where I was I was somewhere
and it was like insurance is optional
it's like excuse me what
that's insane yeah so I know how to ride a motorbike
and I know how to go fishing
else do you do in your free time at home?
Hmm.
As if we're 31 minutes in.
No shit.
That's good.
I like this.
Sometimes when it's a stranger, I'm like...
Fucking hell.
Honestly, no, because it's just like, your brain has to think the whole time.
Yeah.
I don't, like, I didn't tell them, but I had all the podcast stuff packed away
because I've done 10 episodes this year, and it's only February.
I'm going on tour next week, so I was like, I'm getting out a podcast zone.
I've got a lot in the fucking tank.
and then you hit me up and I'm in Glasgow
the day off I'm not not gonna do it
so I'll pack
set everything up again you were here
watching that was was in
very impressive the set up thank you me
yeah I'm uh
it's now at the point like I was saying earlier
where it's I don't
I used to be when I was like one of the only
like heavy music podcast and then a new one would come out
I'd be like fuck this guy whatever
which is wrong in the first place anyway but I was like
more out of worried like there's another podcast on the scene
and then when I started going to video
and seeing how hard it is and how difficult and expensive
or whatever I'm like good for you
if someone wants to like copy the content
No man this is a lot
It's difficult yeah
But it is it makes it cool
We can talk about fishing and motorbikes
And people are probably having a lovely time
Yeah audio people might be a bit like
What the fuck
I wanted to know about
Nose Nipples
Guess what
That's not happening on this episode.
Your band, let's go back to your band
because otherwise we'll lose people.
Yeah.
How long Spad Omen's been going?
I want to say since 2015.
Which is quite a long time.
Yeah.
Oh yeah.
And then, so just like,
no offense.
Plotting along, doing pretty good.
then the last album
just skyrocket
you got any theories
why that is
I mean it's better
yeah I think
I think the guys
they wrote the album
what they wanted to do you know what I mean
I feel like it really worked out
it's like
because I honestly thought
actually
because I only remember small logo gate.
Oh, man, someone asked us about that the other day.
See, I forgot, because I forgot what band that was.
I thought that was bad wolves.
I forgot the whole thing completely.
And then when we did that last tour, someone said something.
And I was like, oh, that was that band.
Yeah.
But in my head, you're a band that just came out of the pandemic,
just like, biggest band in the world out of the pandemic.
But you were going for ages before that.
Yeah, yeah.
Like, what was small logo?
go again.
Come on.
Did you see the t-shirts we made?
Yeah, and that was really funny.
Yeah.
It was, I mean, there's no more beef anymore, but it was, we were going to go on tour
with, uh, Senses Fail and Amity.
And I don't know what, there was email threads, whatever.
And then we got the ad mat and the fucking bad omens dropped because the logo was this big,
you know, blah.
And we were getting shit for like a week.
Oh yeah, I probably piled on.
It was funny.
It was fucking insane.
But no, everything's...
But what?
Did you really drop because of that?
Or was it like...
I think we wanted to finish our second album.
We're like, you know what?
This isn't worth it.
Yeah.
We're not going to let these people walk over us and...
You're adults.
Was it in...
Obviously, you might not even know,
was it in, like, in the contract?
Because we...
The thing is, when something like this happened,
I'm sorry to cut you up.
people hear the fallout from it online
and then they think they can fucking know everything
but it's like the amount of times we've had to fight
for our logo to be bigger like it happens
on the daily it's a daily thing
where you'll get you'll be doing a co-headliner
and then whoever knows the graphic designer
and it goes hey guys made the flyer here it is
and it's like well motherfucker you've made it
so you look like your headlining
and that's a whole thing
I think it might have been
I'm not 100% sure, but maybe a breach of, you know, I don't know how you, a breach of contract.
Yeah, so maybe you've actually just wanted to drop off the tour and then that was a little fucking,
actually we can get them with that.
But, I mean, mud really doesn't stick, though, because you are the biggest band in the fucking world.
Currently.
People are still moaning about the little logo.
Yeah.
And then you made T-shirts where your name was really small.
Fucking, yeah.
Yeah.
And do you know what?
That was the moment.
That's mad.
That was years before you and I.
Yeah.
That was in 2018, I think.
That would have been,
because I remember seeing those t-shirts
and immediately being like,
okay,
fair enough,
that's funny as fuck.
Yeah.
And then there's been a couple of things
on Bad Omen's Twitter,
particularly recently.
That I've just been like,
yeah, cool on boys.
Yeah.
Fucking angry little unhinged tweeters.
Fucking mad.
Yeah.
But like,
he's savage.
No one.
No one's doing it, except me and bad opens.
No, I agree.
You're like that too.
Yeah, but I'm not like a huge fucking metal call, man.
I'm just a guy.
But like, you guys talking out on merch rates, talking out on just little, like, like, again, I touched on it, but like fan interaction.
Like, obviously everyone loves their fans and is very thankful for their fans.
But there is a fucking limit.
Yeah.
Like, my limit.
think like we talked earlier about noah someone taking a photo of him and then you know that's that's
not on yeah i'm asking for a fucking photo yeah not while he's don't hanging out with his friend you know
what i mean like an unsolic that's where i draw the line on like i don't care if you're if you're
a fan like you're in fucking trouble yeah taking a photo of me without asking me for the photo i'm
i'll take a photo with you all day long but don't snap a photo of me at the fucking bar yeah
doing something else.
Very least, tag me in it.
The worst one is like,
I get it when I'm setting my,
do you get this?
When I'm setting my drums up on stage,
someone will take a photo of me setting my drums up
and then put it on their Instagram story
and then tag me.
Dude, I get, I've gotten that a lot on this one
where I'm tearing down the kit
and I'll go on my news feed.
Mentions and there I am fixing my hat,
taking a symbol off.
It's just weird.
Come here.
I'm not going to bite you.
Come on.
And then I've got more, you've got more, like, take a video of me ripping.
Oh, I'm sharing that.
Yeah.
Come on.
I'm not putting me tearing down back on my story.
Oh, my hat looks good there.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, I love a, love of a video of me playing the drums.
Love of, like, meeting a fan and getting a photo.
But like unsolicited, like, action shots.
Yeah.
Of you doing fucking nothing.
It's so weird
Yeah
I guess it is what it is
You know
I get it
You don't stream or anything on Twitch
I'd love to
But
Can you do it
You got too much time
Fishing and fucking motorbike
Yeah
I did buy a
What's an EAD 10
Am I saying that right?
Oh you can stream
Fuck yeah dude I should
I bought one
And the thing rips man
Do you want to have a hack for it
What's that
If anyone's listening
This is a sick hack
So you get
USB mixer.
You know, like, you would use for your fucking in-ear rig
or whatever.
You guys have fucking crazy fucking...
I've seen it.
But like, back in the day when you'd run a click
into your own little mixer at the side,
which I still do,
because I'm a fucking backwards person.
Get one of those that's USB.
So, like, you could use it as an interface.
Then you go out of the EAD 10
into the mixer,
but then you also bring your backing tracks into that mixer.
Then out of the USB,
like this would have a USB out,
the USB out goes into a camera adapter on your iPhone,
and then you get the Twitch app,
and you can just run it all off your phone.
Really?
That's how I start in my Twitch.
I can play this song, Nick.
Yep.
And you can fucking do it.
Really?
Yeah, and it's so, so easy.
I did like a year.
year and a half of streaming on Twitch
before I even had a camera.
Wow.
Just on my phone.
I feel like I could definitely do it.
You would definitely do it and you would definitely like,
like Fred, who's the music guy at Twitch,
he'll fucking backdoor a partner deal
so you're at least like,
you're making money straight away.
I mean, I'm talking for Fred here,
but he's fucking seen it.
Then you just make money straight away.
It's so easy and you just make money for playing the drum.
Yeah.
I'm sure there's people out there that'd be like,
We want to see, you know
They're 100%
Yeah
I'll make that happen
I think you should
I will
I can't remember
I was gonna say
it's about this
unsolicited photos
It only
It doesn't make me like mad
It just makes you be thinking
I mean the reason
I was to think about Twitch
At the same time
Sometimes someone will leave a comment
And it's like
It's not a mean comment or anything
But in my head
I'm like slightly despair
You're like what
What did I just read?
Yeah
like, I don't know what I can't get a grasp on whether or not it's maybe, and this is going
to sound arrogant, and I don't think anyone should ever aspire to, like, talk to me or get
an interaction with me. But, like, someone will say something, and they've answered their
own question in it, but it's posed as a question, and I feel like, sometimes I read it, I'm like,
did you just, did you just say that? So I break my attention.
on the drums and talk to you.
Like someone will say,
hey,
I know that you play this,
but what snarehead would you recommend?
And you're like,
I'm like,
the first half of your,
my brother in Christ,
the first half of your sentence
is going to be what I say.
Hey,
I know you play this,
but what would you recommend?
You just told me,
brother.
And that happens all the time,
and I'm like,
I can't get a,
like,
and I love,
I love the chat, but sometimes someone like that happens,
and I'm like, is it just me?
Am I just a grumpy old man?
Is that the equivalent of taking a photo of me setting my drums up?
Yeah.
What?
You're a zildren god.
Yeah.
So are you.
Yay!
And now...
Cheers to that.
That's a double fist to the old zillies.
What's a zilli set up?
I'm doing that thing.
I got that thing, you know, like when you break up with a girl.
Yeah.
And you get a new one and you show the fuck out of the new one off.
That's what you're doing.
That's what I'm doing was Yildren.
So like the last three episodes of the podcast have been Zildren guys.
Yeah.
And I was like, talk to me about this sweet setup.
What you got?
What you're rocking.
You want to know what I'm rocking?
You want to know what you're rocking.
All right.
All right.
Let's see if I can remember this.
I'm going to go left to right.
Nice.
So we got an 11-inch Oriental splash.
Best splash.
So loud.
So loud.
I literally just got one.
I love it.
I love it.
It cuts through everything.
It's incredible.
Then I got these high hats that Eric gave me before the record to record with.
And I think they're new beat, 15s on the top, but a Vetus on the bottom.
Dude.
Wow.
Well, like a real heavy bottom.
Very heavy.
And the top is...
Like a medium.
Yeah.
Love them.
Sick.
Kind of like they used to make a K custom top, Z custom master's on bottom.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That was sick.
So after that, I got a stack situation that's a 10-inch oriental on the bottom, and then on top, it's an EFX 10-inch K-dry splash.
Nice.
Sounds great.
And then I got my 20-inch, A-Custom projection crash.
They're what I need to dip my toes into.
They're great.
Because Will loves them.
And they're not.
Because Matt love him.
Shout out Matt.
Yeah, shout out to Matt.
He crushes.
He's been mentioned on this podcast.
Really?
Multiple times.
Fuck, he should have came.
When someone talked, when I send you a message and say,
anyone can come, I was secretly, I was like,
well, Matt can come.
I mean, anyone can come, but I know you and I know Matt.
Yeah.
Just because he's literally the best sound guy I've ever worked with my heart.
And he can tune a drum.
He'll sit there and go,
Bink, all right, it's good.
I'm like.
His front house mixes are literally the worst insane thing on earth.
But does he like those projection crashes?
because Will Putney loves stuff.
He does.
He actually, there's a few symbols that I had that I never wanted to part ways with,
but he was like, man, that's just a little too much in Noah's vocal,
and it's making shit weird.
He's got that fucking, and he's right.
Big brain shit.
He's right.
So I got the projection.
And then in front of my rack tom is a 12-inch Oriental mini-China.
I remember your setup.
You got fucking, you've got busy tinkled.
I changed, I added some things, brother.
Added it?
I added a side snare.
A motorbike.
A couple of trout.
Yeah.
But dude, I added a fucking side snare.
No way.
It's tuned shitty low.
Shitty low.
With a fucking hybrid head.
It sounds crazy.
And I got a...
Noah got a sample pad.
Is he play it or you play it?
He programmed it and set it up for me and then sent it to my house.
I was like, surprise.
He crushed it.
That's cool.
And then back to the symbols, I got a for my ride.
It's a 23A suite ride.
I got the 23K.
I want to try a K.
What's the 23 suite saying?
Dude, it's sick.
I have one that's been beat the shit and water and sweat and spit and it's so dry.
We stopped using it because we don't want it to crack because we want to use that on the next record.
Oh, wow.
Because the bell is just fucking, when you crash on it kind of sucks, but just the bell part, it's just dry and, you know,
know, it pings.
Yeah.
It's sick.
And then, so this is where it gets fun.
On my main crash, we like to switch it up.
Like every other night I'll go, I want to use this or I want to use that.
It's either a 21-inch A anniversary ride or a 21-inch K-suite ride.
Interesting.
But my tried-and-true was 21-inch K crash ride.
That's one of my favorite.
That's one of the best crash rides ever.
That's crazy, isn't it?
It's literally insane
And every time I post
Any video
Everyone's like
Well that's just a simple
Minor want it to make you
But the bell needs to be bigger
For me
Like I use it now
Because it sounds incredible
But like I said to Zildre
And I was like
You want to double the size
That bell?
You want to double the size that bell for me?
Yeah
Because I play
The 21A suite
As my main crash
Which is
The Anniversary Ride
Is just a brilliant
version of that
and then I played the 21
crash ride.
Down here, right?
Yeah.
What China you got?
All right, so I used to,
I was using the ultra-hammered a lot.
That thing's a beast.
And Matt and I were like,
let's try a 20-inch Oriental.
Right?
I like an Oriental.
Dude.
I will, I will, I will,
I can say that that 20-inch Oriental
crushes the 18.
Ultramarhammed.
No, I'd say they're both.
Ultra hammer's the best
In my opinion
19 is my fucking shit
Money
And then I have a
EFX
20 inch EFX
Above the
China
As an offhand
Is that the one with a holder?
Yeah
Not offhand but
And then underneath that
I added a blast bill
I just put
I literally put one of those on my kit today
On that stream
That's why my stream was four hours long
Dude they're so sick
I love it
But anytime I get a chance to hit it in the set,
sometimes I'll do it when some of the crew guys aren't looking.
I'll hit it and I'll look over and they're like...
I feel like they're coming back.
Oh, we're bringing the bell back.
I feel, because I literally, I did a stream today where I was like,
guys, I have, there's two songs in the set that are so bell heavy
and I currently have a small bell which sounds good, but I'm shit.
Like my accuracy is bad.
You'll hit the felt and I'm fucking...
All the time.
Yes, me too.
Constantly.
So then someone was like,
oh,
you should get the Mac growing
a bath bell
and I was like,
funnily enough,
as well on the floor,
covering a mine all like go.
Like,
but I put it on.
Did you put it on top?
Yeah,
but not like the old school
Zill Bell well.
I put it on top that way.
Because it's like,
you can either,
how have you got yours mounted?
Mine's on a little,
a little arm by itself.
But then which way up is it?
Yeah.
Like a,
Like a bowl.
Like a cup.
Yeah, like a ball.
You got it like a bell.
So I had it literally like a bell.
On top of your...
On top of my ride.
Huh.
So it was just very slightly less.
Ding!
Because I was going ging, ging, ging, ging, ging, ging.
Because otherwise it was just like a fucking singing bowl.
Like I was in Tibet.
Like, fucking meditating.
You remember the, uh, the silver one?
The aloo bell?
It was a Zabian shucking shit.
It was.
you'd hit it and it'd last for like 30 minutes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's what I didn't like about any of the Zillbells until this one.
Even the original Zill Bell, because it just, it was, the bright, it was too much.
This thing is like, perfect.
And I'm really thinking about it on this run, putting it on the kit.
But like, it's a lot to have as a bell on a ride.
I need that, I need in between a normal ride and that.
I think I might do it, though, because we've got two songs.
like fortune teller the
Paragonal song like on that
I played it today
I was just like
okay this is actually shit
put a mic on that
motherfucker
but someone in the chat actually
this is what I do like about Twitch
I like a lot about Twitch
but someone in the chat had the idea
I was like is this too much
someone in the chat goes
yeah but in a live setting
when you don't have a spot mic
on your ride
then the bell's gonna get lost
but that will cut through the overheads
and I was like you're fucking right
yeah
stranger on the internet
You're absolutely fucking right.
So yeah, I might do it.
You should.
I'd love that.
I feel like it might, look.
I feel like you're into it, so I might do it.
I'm into it.
I feel like it's also,
these days I'm all about gaming the algorithm.
Yeah.
More shit in a photo or a video that gets someone to leave a comment,
even like a negative comment or anything.
Yeah.
What's that on the right?
Guess what?
You just boosted the algorithm.
What's that on the one?
I thought Zilbert.
I thought this wasn't 2006.
Guess what?
algorithm boost.
Yep.
Why do you think my hair
looks so fucking stupid?
So you tell me.
Fucking,
do it.
All right,
we've done symbols.
We've done me
fucking my new girlfriend.
That would be
the monetization
options gone there.
Damn it.
Do you know once I said,
I'm not even going to say it
because there's a popular
website for
people to
be nude on online.
You know what it is.
I'm not going to
say the name of it.
Yeah.
But I said the name of it once in a YouTube video automatically flagged.
You couldn't monetize it, even for just saying the name.
Wow.
It's an awesome website.
I'm on there all this time, but I'm not going to say the fucking name, am I?
Have I got any, I haven't got any real questions.
I just wanted to have Anandos with you.
But I've got a whole dream festival section.
I've got to think out, if I've got anything else that I need to ask you, I think.
You didn't even ask him about the time this happened.
What was the cruise life?
Aside from the fucking flashing bullshit.
I'll tell you, the cruise for me was cool because I had a friend of mine named Bubba,
who he used to work secure.
Not a single person that you have said today is your friend has a real name.
You haven't at any point gone.
My friend, John.
Oh, I'm...
Bubba cookie, high risk.
Who else you got?
Okay, Bubba.
Talk to me about.
Yeah, yeah.
So he came on the cruise just for fun as a stowaway.
and him and I
nice nice pirate talk yeah that's what they called him
I was like what the fuck is that
that's fucking funny
and we every day I did the same thing
11th deck had my little section table
just like this and I was just fucking
kingpin on the 11th deck had a
fucking doing what just people coming by and drinks
that's the that's the trick
instead of spending your own money you just
what were you doing just sat at a table and had drinks
like fucking scorned
face.
Yeah.
And then everyone's down at karaoke, right?
And I go down and the guys are like, holy fuck,
Folio came down from his throne.
I had a blast.
Who was this up there with you?
Just me and.
But you're just chilling with people from the thing?
Me and Bubba and then random.
Oh, good for you.
I mean, you know, I wasn't getting.
You weren't getting.
Yeah, I was fine.
Molested.
Yeah.
There's a monetization.
I had a great time, though.
smoke some of
pot on the boat
I've never done
I've never done one of those
we got
we got offered the slip knot one
the not fest at sea
they're doing that now
no they did
they were and then the pandemic happened
we were like confirmed for it
announced
and then the pandemic happened
I feel like that would be cooler
than ship rock
stratospheric bad luck
yeah
the same
the day I bought
lounge access for airports
they announced the pandemic
on the day
I feel like I'm to blame for the pandemic
because someone just went
This guy's got bad luck
You bought lounge access
Because you got a lot of touring coming up
No you don't
Yep sorry buddy
Sorry but
You're fucked
Unprecedented virus
That was weird
That was very weird
What did you do?
Me
A lot of fishing
Yeah
Can a fish get it
No
Nice
Dude it was so weird
Because they call it DNR
What's DNR?
Department of Natural Resources
and they were like
we're not going to do
the trout stockings this year because of COVID
I'm like we're fucking outside
what's the stocking on it?
So like they raise fish
they produce
ooh a little
ASMR sorry
they like it's like a fish hatchery
where they raise fish and then
after they're of size
they throw them out in the wild and then
People can go, you know, catch them, right?
Yeah.
So they're like, yeah, we're not going to, we're not going to do it this year
because people will be around people.
I'm like, we're outside.
I'm near no one.
In the water.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Fish.
So you couldn't even fish?
Couldn't fish.
Secretly.
Secretly.
Yeah.
I really didn't.
I, I lived the same.
I feel like, yeah, you couldn't go out to eat.
So you were from Maryland?
or you live there.
I live there.
I'm from Maryland.
Yeah.
So why is your accent so...
Southern?
Yeah.
I don't know.
Is that just the mistake?
An accident?
I guess, yeah.
Because you have like a proper fucking...
If you just said you were from Florida,
I'd be like, yeah, this goes from Florida.
Hell yeah, brother.
Exactly.
I thought maybe you were going to say,
oh, like my fucking...
Well, my parents...
Tennessee.
Yeah.
No.
You got a full...
Hell yeah, brother, voice.
I love it, yeah
Good
That's mad
But my parents are both Scottish
And I've just got this fucking weird little voice
Which is weird
So mine's
I guess mine's the same thing
But like
Yeah
Backwards
And I say certain words
Weirdly
Because my parents
I obviously learn them off
My parents
And Scottish people
Say different words
Differently
But like
Yeah I always thought you would have been
When I was like
Where are you living
Because I was about to talk about Tennessee
earlier on
when Mnando
because I was like
I'm sure he's from Tennessee
listen to him
shit
no I didn't
if you'd have told me
you were like
an honest to God
church going
Tennessee boys
fuck now
I'd have been like
yeah
I can see it
you know like
do you know
Jake from Gideon
Jake's money
yeah
love that guy
yeah
oh the fucking best
love him
yeah
but he's got a similar
voice to you
and he's from Alabama
yeah
I know
I should
be from there.
You got an Alabama voice?
Yeah.
I like it.
Good.
It's a good vibe.
I'm all for it.
Cheers to that.
What are we going?
This one.
Let's go.
Look how nice we look on these cameras.
Listen, if you're listening to this on the audio, just don't.
These are my...
Yeah, why are you, why are you queuing it up on...
Do you have it on...
Spotify?
It's on all the things.
Watch it on, what do you put it on YouTube?
Yeah.
Watch it on the tube.
We look good.
Come on.
Nice time.
Also, I'm interested.
to know people's
I've been trying really hard
with episodes lately
because this is how I used to
just go into an episode
even with a stranger
where I'd be like
I ain't got any questions
I'm getting drunk
let's see how this goes
and then as the podcast got bigger
I've been like
I should probably like plan out my questions
and then today was like back to the old school
because it was last minute
I was like I can't got time
if I can go through things
I'm interested if people are having
a better time
a worse time or
they're ambivalent
to the time that they're having
I'm having a lovely time
this is my favourite episodes
can I get you anything
no I'm great I got
double fisting
there's a tiny dog somewhere
she's hidden somewhere
um
you got another record coming out
you got
here's what I want to ask you
yes
ask real question
how does
this is my new question that I just,
I learn something every time.
And there's no shame in any of the answers
because everyone's got a different answer.
How does bad omen write?
Okay, that's a great question.
So,
Noah and Jolly,
for those who don't know,
Noah sings.
I fucking barely know
because I've only spoke,
I spoke to Noah once,
right,
and he was nice.
Yeah.
But everyone's very quiet.
They are.
I spoke to you,
and I spoke to you,
And I spoke to Matt Dirkers, he was doing our sound as well.
Yeah.
We hung out a lot.
Yeah.
It was fucking great.
I can never forget the time you just fucking lit up a joint in, in the backstage, in doors.
And I was like, I didn't know that you'd previously cleared it with Underroof.
And I was just, I'm sure Nick's just sparked up a joint.
And I thought you were just like, the kingpin.
Yeah.
Great show, guys.
It's like, we're indoors.
But then I learned that you'd cleared it with both staff and under oath.
Yeah.
I was a little bit like, oh.
But that was cool.
But yeah, no one else hung up.
But it doesn't matter.
It's fine.
We had fun.
Yeah, we had fun.
So how does the writing process happen?
So No one jolly.
They'll bounce ideas together.
They'll start writing shit.
And then once they get a basic song down, they also like the program.
Midi, right?
Are they good at them?
it they're getting every time every it's it's like wow that's really cool well done you didn't
play three symbols i don't have three fucking legs like come on guys you know every time um but yeah and
then it's really cool like they'll send me the songs and then they like give me the freedom to like
just go in you know oh sick so like we track live drums but do you change the programming
On album two
I know when I sat down
And I programmed all my fills that I came up with
And that's how we did it
But this time
Which one was album two?
Finding God before God finds me
But on this album
I had so much time
With the songs at home
That I would just practice
How I wrote it in my head
Yeah
And in the studio
I would just
Guys I have a really cool idea
And then they would be like
Oh sick
so they like give me freedom because you kind of prove yourself on yeah the last one here
i feel like i'm more which is cool because i don't i hear a lot of like i'm not gonna name
anyone but like there's bands out there that are like fuck you we're not tracking drums we're
gonna fucking and they have the money to do it sometimes they don't have the drama to do it
though and sometimes there's a control freak like no offense i would have i would have just because i don't
know him i'd have maybe put no more in control freak
category but it sounds like he's not no it's sick like it's really cool like it makes me feel like
really cool like wanted yeah yeah yeah which is quite difficult as a drama sometimes yeah just
because a lot of people are still have like oh he's just a drama right vibe but if you're
you know writing the parts i i i do what you essentially are writing posters is the same except
There's me and Tom that write.
And then if he's programmed something,
I'll program what I would play.
And then I learn it afterwards and it changes.
But then the issue,
I don't know if you ever have this,
but like when someone else has programmed your parts
and then you're writing over the top of it,
you'll get rid of something just because it's not how you would normally play
or whatever and just put it to the back of your mind
and never ever play or never ever play that.
like that ever and then I get to the studio
which is quite valid
can we go back to the demo version
for that second and I just can't fucking do it
I'm like shit
yeah man yeah and they're like
it's three kick drums in a row
at an easy tempo why can't you do this
and I'm like because the muscle memory is
man I love
tracking drums but
god damn the
up until I'm done
I'm just like
fuck but when I finish I'm
just like all this weight's been lifted.
I hate it.
I hate it so much.
Because you want to make everyone, you know,
proud and fucking...
One of the cool things about Twitch
is confidence in my own playing
goes up a lot,
even though actually these days I'm incredibly unconfident.
You know?
But like, you know those times when you're in the studio,
let's say you finish a whole album
and then it gets cleaned up.
Obviously, everyone knows this by now.
If you don't fucking know this,
if you go into the studio,
you can play the best fucking take of your life
and no one would ever hear that it was out of time.
They are going to edit.
It's just what happens.
If you've got backing tracks,
if you've got fucking scint,
if you've got other instruments,
it needs to be metronomically tight.
It happens.
So, like, sometimes I come out of the studio session
and then it gets cleaned up a bit,
but then you have no real record of how you performed.
So it's like, you listen back to it.
It's like, fuck, that's insane.
Was I that time?
I can't remember.
But Twitch, I'll, like, come home from a stream.
If we hadn't have done this today,
I would have watched my whole three and a half hour stream back.
Just to see.
That's sick.
To watch the parts.
Really to see where I, like, need to work.
So not rush or whatever.
But nine times out of ten, I watch it back, and I'm like,
I'm kind of fucking sick.
But, like, at the time, I'm like,
this is hard and horrible when I fucking hate it.
Do you ever have shows like that where you're like...
Every single show.
Yeah.
I'm too hard.
I wouldn't say too hard on myself, but like, something will happen and I'll be fucking pissed.
And the guys will be like, holyo, I didn't know the shit.
I remember that from when we, when we toured.
Yeah.
I feel like you were worse than me on that tour for beating yourself up about stuff.
Yeah.
And then the following tour that I did, and actually the tour after that, I'm now king beating
yourself up.
I cannot have fun.
I have fun off the stage.
Every moment except the stage.
And then, like, I'm sure, this next run that we're doing,
which actually by the point this comes out,
what already have happened,
so you can talk shit on me if I didn't do it.
I'm planning on,
because my iPhone,
I only realize how good the iPhone fucking camera.
Camera's incredible.
But the audio as well is sick.
I think I'm just going to stream every show.
Do you got a little...
Get a little fucking, I'll just get a guy.
Little mount.
One of the little fucking guys.
Yeah.
And just like, load it up, stream every show.
So like, I feel like if I do that on night one,
I feel like I had a bad gig and I'm in a bad move myself,
and then I go back and watch the video and be like,
oh, that was kind of sick.
Yeah.
Then night two, I'm going to go in with a new confidence.
I like that.
That's my plan.
That's a cool thing, man.
Because that's how I do it on Twitch,
but I need it.
Like that lot, and you, because if you have a bad show
and you've got no way, other than your bandmate saying,
oh, I didn't know it's anything.
If you can't show yourself, it wasn't.
as bad as you think.
Me personally, I'm in my head
for the next show.
Here's the section I'm gonna fuck up.
Guess what?
I fuck it up even more.
Because you're thinking about it.
I have a weird,
like, I have a muscle memory
of dropping sticks.
If I drop a stick on,
it's like fucking stick dropping Tourettes.
I have like, if I drop a stick.
Your dog's got tits.
You've seen it.
That's Scotland.
I know.
That's fucking Scotland.
You know, not to interrupt you,
but.
Oh, interrupt.
My first time ever here, ever, I met these Scottish Glasgow kids.
And they took me to their apartment and we were hanging out.
And then they showed me this thing.
They're like, you say this for me, American guy.
And I said it and they just lost their mind.
And I had no idea what it was.
What is it?
Your dog's got, it's like a, wasn't it like a video on Tourette's?
It was a guy, it was a documentary on Tourette's.
Yeah.
And one particular moment where a guy says,
your dog's got it.
And it's just a funny thing to just pop into someone's head.
Yeah.
But I have,
I'll come back to that in a second.
I have stick dropped Tourette's.
So like if I drop a stick one night,
the next night,
coming up to that section,
I'll go,
oh, this is where I drop and it goes.
It's literally,
and there was one other moment in my life
where I actually had a Tourette's moment.
So I'm like,
there is something wrong with my fucking mate.
So, like, I was in a shopping mall.
This is fucking crazy.
I was in a shopping mall.
And there was a woman at the other end of the shopping wall.
And it was closing time.
And we were the only two people in there.
She dropped her keys.
And I don't know why I fucking did it.
I screamed.
Dropped your keys.
I literally, I, and I tried, dropping keys.
What the fuck?
I literally shopped myself.
I was like, why did that happen?
And then for like a whole day after it was like,
Am I going to get Tourette's?
Like, I'm like, is it growing inside me right now?
Right.
It was so weird, but I have stick drop Tourette's.
Okay.
So you drop sticks?
Dude.
You stick dropper?
On this tour, I've dropped a few.
I don't have a caddy on the left side.
What you got?
Brother, I just got the little bag on the floor time.
So when I drop one with this hand, I'm like, you know what I mean?
You've got three weeks left?
Two weeks left.
Two.
Do you want a caddy?
I can just pick one up
and just bring it to the show tomorrow
I'll get one on my drum room
That would be sick
The Vic Firf one and the little pot
Yeah
Oh yeah I'll just fucking pick up to him
That'd be sick
Got you
Because that stressed me out
Knowing this side
Yeah
It's never gonna be that
Dude
And
You ever do this one?
Oh
The one in the snare
Yeah
Do you like that?
I love it
I'm gonna bring out a downbeat one
I'm already got
I'm talking to a
like a supplier about making
just enough for one pair of sticks
hooks on
right in between your legs
you could drop both of them
I like that
let me know when that
yeah I'll get one
but in the meantime you can use
Vic Firf make marching ones
and you just put them on as if
it's like a quiver
yeah quiver
yeah
that your English accent
how's your English accent
Spot of tea
The first time
That was good
Go on say something else
Oh shit
Hey mate
You got your gear
That's Australian
It was good Australian
It was good Australian
Pipip Cheerio
Still a bit Australian
Spot of tea was quite good
Spot of tea
Spot of tea
Spot of tea
Oh you dirty dog you
Spot of tea is really good
Where are you getting this from
RLD Luke
Luke?
He's from Leeds.
You what?
You what?
Leeds.
They call them Yankees?
I don't know.
Yankshire or something.
I don't know.
They were chanting that last night.
Yashah.
I'm like,
Oh, Yorkshire.
Yorkshire.
The fuck are you saying?
I literally, every time, even I know that chant,
they chant Yorkshire.
And I, every time I think it's them saying,
your shit.
I thought they were saying bullshit.
Yeah.
Bullshit.
You came, my brother in Christ, you came to the show.
Yeah.
I can scream at me like, it's bad.
I'm having a great time, you.
Same.
Let's have a little.
A little cheers.
I mean, if we finish them, you know, there's more.
You definitely, I'm going to have to get you an Uber because I'm too drunk.
I like this.
Filled with chicken as well.
Do you want to do a dream festival?
Yeah.
I feel like we'd done.
Fucking death, peace of mind.
Whatever.
Listen to it.
You've already listened to it.
Let's be honest.
Big span in the fucking world.
It's cool, though.
I think you guys
you guys spirit box
Lorna Shore
like
Sleep token
Sleep token
Like just cool
I mean
I was a bit shocked
You guys and Lorna Shore
have been going for a minute
The other two
Yeah
The S bands
Sleep token
They haven't
But I still lump you all in
As bands that
Perceivered
Through and out of the pandemic
Like
I just think it's cool
And one of the common
things is that you all
released a fucking shitload of singles.
Yeah. That's how you
fucking do it. Yeah. So it's working.
Guess what? Single. I saw you released the other day
just the vocal track from something. Yeah.
Guess what? People were going to make remixes.
And we want that. How cool is that going to be?
Boost. Boost.
Algorah. Hold on. What's the date?
I mean,
I'll tell you that this is going to come out in
fucking potentially
April. So.
Okay.
If you've got anything you want.
I think February,
I think it's been a year since that album's been out.
Is it?
A year to,
yeah,
because it came out on that tour.
Yeah.
And here we are.
Holy fuck.
You were going to find out.
You were on tour with me.
Let's find out if it was a year ago today.
Now,
if I've accidentally edited this
and it was this camera that was on,
and you guys can see
the naked,
woman on my Instagram, then
stop it.
Right, it's a private.
This is the private situation.
Oh, my fucking throat just made a weird noise.
What am I doing?
I'm going to create.
I'm going to...
February 25th, dude.
And today's the 26th.
It was yesterday, a year yesterday.
Was that mean we were on tour?
We were on tour.
We were at the House of Blue...
No, we were at the House of Blues.
Don't tell me it was the one way you lit up the joint.
It was a year ago today.
Oh, thank you.
I think it was.
I'll cry if it's like that.
Just go have a look.
Do you have like a time hop thing or memory?
Time hop on my Instagram, but it's being slow.
Which, do you remember the venue where you smoked up?
What was, was I in the backstage area?
Or was I?
Oh yeah, you were fucking indoors, my friend.
Do you not even remember?
No, I remember.
Oh.
Fuck.
I got nothing.
It had to have been...
I really want to know for my own...
I'm going to find out what I'm going.
I'm going to scroll.
I don't care if you're listening to this.
You're like, I'm bored.
I'm a little bit bored now.
Listen, it's been an hour and 40 minutes of fish and motorbikes and drums, right?
You are a boring person if you've got this far.
Okay?
Here we go.
Maybe I can go on that phone.
I got it.
I got it, I got it, I got it.
God, I'm such a busy boy.
That's my tour.
That's when the tour started.
That's my new drum kit.
That's the song coming out.
There is.
I've got the dates.
San Francisco, Warfield.
Yeah.
It wasn't the smoking show,
but I did buy a lovely Supreme hoodie from the Supreme store.
They had a cool store.
I wish I would have went.
But the day before was at House of Blue Zana home.
Yep.
But that wasn't where you lit up the join.
I want to say.
But it was early on in the tour.
Yeah, because you were like, what the fuck?
What the fuck is this guy smoking?
But it was cool.
I think it might, well, you got it, have you got what it was?
It was one of the, not Seattle, Washington.
Yes.
Was it at the showbox?
Where one of the Under oath crew guys drilled into the deck.
You remember that?
And the guy came out and said, who drilled into my deck?
That was it.
Yeah.
Was that Seattle?
Yep.
That's tomorrow.
Fuck.
You lit up that joint indoors a year ago tomorrow.
And we'll hang out tomorrow as well.
Yeah.
That works.
Yeah.
I'm a light up a joint inside.
The garage.
Are you playing?
It's the actual, we call it the garage here.
But it's not G2, is it?
I don't know.
800 cap one.
What's the other one?
Like two?
3,000?
300.
300.
Oh, we're not.
it might even be a nine
if there's a nine
I think we're doing nine
yeah it might be that one
it's a big room
I think it is nine
oh that's cool
but I don't think it's a T
I don't think it's thousand
cap
yeah it'll be the 900
that's cool because there is a balcony
that I can watch from
which is fun
yeah
because the other one's like
because I don't
I told you earlier
sometimes I don't go
to the show after
we've done this
if it's on the same day
normally I don't
because it's like,
I got what I want from a show out of this.
I didn't care about Matt Dirkis on sound
though I kind of do care about the fucking snare bombs.
I'm gonna, fuck, I wish I could hit the button.
I actually, oh, it's not on this one.
I've got an 808 on the other one.
When you can just go, and it goes, boom,
but I don't have it.
Fuck.
Should have done it, you could have hit it.
Let's do a Dream Festival.
We're late for the Dream Festival.
This is effortless podcasting.
This is great.
Cheers.
Everything's still running.
Everything's still on.
Let me just check everything's on.
I mean, just check your one.
No one cares about one.
Dream Festival, man.
I'm going to walk you through it.
It doesn't matter.
Okay.
Don't panic.
I like it.
If you had to play a dream festival,
I'm bearing in mind the only rule is that bad omens are also playing.
Okay.
So that's got a cloud.
Not cloud.
Something about judgment.
Okay.
That's got to do something to your judgment that my alcohol brain cannot get.
If anyone's going to come from you,
I thought you were going to drink less.
Shut up.
If you were going to have a dream festival,
where would it be?
Where is your perfect location?
Hmm.
Because you haven't been to Australia yet.
You're going to Australia for the first time.
I haven't.
I would say 60% of the time is people's answers.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
So.
Darn.
I guess I'd like it.
I love welcome to Rockville, like that Florida vibe.
Of course you do.
Your accent fits in.
Yeah, y'all going to go down there, saloon.
She got, brother.
Let me put a charling in.
What is that?
I was just right to say.
Spitting out.
But it was like a little bucket down there.
I know.
All right.
So when I'm in Australia, I'll be like, yeah, I'll pick Australia.
But it doesn't have to be specifically a festival location.
For example, you've got a favor.
river to get these trout out?
Yeah.
You got a favorite river?
Yeah.
Well, I'm not, see,
it doesn't have to be realistic
as a dream festival.
It's a dream.
The idea of this, right?
Sometimes people, like,
even Mario from Gojira,
luckily his episode was amazing,
but like his dream festival,
where he was thinking of it too much,
like what's logical,
what's realistic.
Yeah.
But like,
what's, tell me about this river.
River.
Like, where, what's your dream trout?
location. Let's put it there
because then you're going to get fun.
Yeah. I think
New Zealand.
Is there an actual
like a trout place in New Zealand?
Yeah. Oh, we're there.
That's where it's going.
Dude. Talk to me about this trout place.
God. It's just like
huge, beautiful, scenic.
It's just like a
open. A lake or a river?
River.
Yeah, in the mountains. Never been.
You know about it.
on YouTube.
Was it gold?
I don't know.
It's just in...
New Zealand trout place.
I'm going to find it.
Just so we can...
It's just...
It's one of the best places to go...
Just searching for New Zealand
trout...
Stream.
Fishing. I mean, there's a series
called New Zealand Trout Hunter.
That's the guy.
He's a ledge.
Best trout fishing.
Oh, wow.
This is where the festival is.
So this is where we'd have a Jamie pull that up.
Is it, I'm going to say these, and you can tell me if there's any of these.
Matoako River?
Uh-uh.
No.
He's very confident on the know there.
Eglinton River.
Matara River?
Buller River.
Oh, he's got it.
He's got it.
Large and formidable river upstream above some of its larger tributaries.
The Buller comes into its friendly best.
the fishy towns.
Fishing towns.
Yeah.
The Fishing Towns.
The Fisci towns of Merchinson and St. Arnold.
If you like fishing smaller flows, drive upstream.
So what, Buller River?
I'm going to go.
Just pull it up.
I just want to see so I can know my head.
Oh, what a lovely place for a festival.
That one.
Yeah.
Okay.
So we're going to put the stage there, obviously.
Yeah.
Or maybe we'll just put it away.
weighing the mountains a little bit so you can go
oh look how nice that looks
wow yeah that's the one that's some good that's some good shit
if you're watching this on YouTube I will not
have overdub the photo of it but imagine if I had
hey can you pull this up exactly I'm gonna get a person
season two of the downbeat
when I come back from all these fucking tours in the summer
gonna have someone doing the buttons doing the Jamie
doing all the shit fuck it I'm moving to Glasgow
There we go.
If someone wants to pay me money to have it on their platform,
I'll even do it live.
Okay, we're in the Buller River.
Bad Omen's his plane.
What is your accommodation?
Dream accommodation.
I just want this to be like, you woke up from an insane dream.
And you're like, guys, never guess the dream I just have.
But with a twist of, you know, you've been on tour, you've played festivals.
Like, is there anything that sticks out?
Give me a golf card I can have for my own.
yeah i can ride around
yeah i love that at first stages
you might of times i've been fucking really
told off at a festival being really drunk
and being like can i drive that
yeah i want to drive my own looking and i go
really yeah i gotta do that
sonosphere festival rip
fuck i can talk
sorry about that i'll have edited that out no i won't
it will stay um
sonosphere festival
I loaded up a beer
golf cart with beers from the rider
and then fucking flipped it
No, you didn't.
Brother.
They flipped it.
The beers went fucking everywhere.
Same weekend, my friend's band was playing the main stage,
and it was their first main stage festival.
And I was like, I'm going to stage dive.
Got up there and was like,
there's no way I can stage drive.
And I tried it anyway.
I got to the front row and I broke a rib on this guy's head.
He was wearing a top hat.
Fuck.
Was the barricade, like, crazy fire?
It was the main stage festival.
It's like fucking 12 foot.
I was surprised I didn't just fucking stack it in.
into the ground.
What's your accommodation now?
I'd get you a golf cart so you can go wherever.
But like, are you a hotels guy?
Nah, I don't like it.
I don't want to leave the vibe.
Okay, so what you've got?
Maybe like a little, little hot box room.
Go in and...
What, though?
So, when you're fishing, what do you do?
You camp out?
Yeah.
Are you a camper?
A camping guy?
I'm more of a glamper.
Okay, now we're talking.
I like it.
You know, I want to...
You know, I want to be able to take a normal shit.
Sorry.
No, that's good.
So, okay.
Do you want your festival accommodation to mimic that?
If you don't want, if you want to be in the vibe,
you want a glamping situation?
Yeah.
What should you go to glamping?
Like, like a nice cabin or a fucking...
Oh, I do love a cabin, but that's not camping, my friend.
Maybe like a nicer...
Not an RV.
I'm giving you cabin.
But like a...
What do you call it?
Canopy?
Yeah.
Big canopy.
Yeah.
Bonfire.
Nice.
Music, obviously.
I mean, it's a festival.
It's a festival.
They should be the music.
Yeah.
That's cool, though.
Yeah, that works.
I kind of want to go glamping now.
We should.
Come on.
Let's go.
Fuck the show off tomorrow.
I do.
The thing is, it's not, I hate camping, but I'd love to be in the wilderness in a log cabin.
Yeah.
With a little log burner.
Maybe a hot tub.
like that's sick as far
I like nature
I don't want to have raw dog nature
no but you want to enjoy it
yeah be outside enjoy it
yeah I want to be
to be able to return to the condom
of safety
yeah
I don't want to be like
oh I woke up oh I'm in mud
there's a bear coming
well I'm next to a bear
and I'm covered in mud
yeah time for bed
okay so we're glamping
the Buller River
what's catering
oh
What's you like, what would you ideally want from?
Like, we want me to give you breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
I would love that.
If, if, I want a classic breakfast.
I'm a big breakfast guy.
Hash browns.
Muffin, you know, uh, Pillsbury dough boy fucking rolls.
What the fuck is that?
The flaky, you know, you take them apart and there's different layers.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Chip beef.
What are they called?
Biscuits?
Yeah, you call them biscuits.
We don't have them.
We just don't have them.
No.
Fuck.
Lunch.
Something light.
Not too heavy.
You got a light lunch.
Maybe like a little sushi?
What time was...
I had sushi last night and ramen.
I fucked myself up.
What time ideally would you have bad omens play at a festival?
Maybe when the sun's going down?
Popular arts.
Getting a little dark.
There's a vibe, but you don't want to fucking...
I hate the worst.
is headlining.
Yeah.
I don't think we've,
we haven't,
we haven't headliner fest yet.
The next time you come back to Europe,
there is no way in hell that you aren't like,
again,
not going to edit it, sorry.
You're not going to be headlining
like one of the smaller stages at a festival,
which is awesome,
right?
It's amazing.
But you can't wait around all day.
To play, yeah.
While everyone's having so much fun.
I know.
A festival, catering, free beer.
No, thanks.
I got a,
playing driving later yeah exactly so annoying that's true i didn't really think about that that's
okay you're playing at sundown no sunset sundown same thing sundown sounds more like it's going to be
some sort of jewel happening yeah more poetic yeah um okay no hang on i've had i've had lunch
what's your light lunch sushi sushi very nice yeah what's dinner i'm gonna have to go stay
baked mashed potatoes
I do love
one thing I do love about being in America
is like
you're about a fucking stone throw from that
anywhere
yeah
like a hearty
a hearty meal
whereas in Europe
as you are currently experiencing
UK's not so bad but like
no Europe's harder
you play a show in France
you can't fucking find food
you finish the show at midnight
what am I going to eat sleep for dinner
I'm going to bed boys
I'm having sleep for dinner
fuck this
sleep for dinner might have been the funniest
that's like the van that's that's that's van life
oh sleep for dinner might be the funniest thing
anyone's ever said on this podcast
what am I going to have sleep for dinner
yeah I've done that a lot brother
it's worse though
it's literally the worst yeah
oh Europe
post show pizza
though.
God,
meat lovers,
God bless.
A posse pizza
can make or break.
Again,
for some reason
it's always in France.
Like,
oh,
not possible.
That's my favorite word.
Oh,
not possible.
Well,
what can we have?
Oh,
nothing.
Sleep.
I'll drink to that.
Not possible.
Okay,
steak for dinner.
We've got accommodation.
You're in a cabin.
Yep.
Cabin in the lovely
Buller River.
There's a fire roast.
Fires roasting
Who's headlining
So this would be where someone sort of says their favorite band
I'm gonna be weird
Please
I'm gonna say Wiz Khalifa
Wow
He's headlining
You love weed
No I love him
He's cool
I know but you also love weed and he knows weed
Yeah he does
And you'd definitely be hanging out on smoking weed
Oh yeah
That's a nice headline of that
Yeah
At least give me a live band
Dude he's got an incredible live live
man.
Yeah?
Yeah.
You know Rico Nichols?
No.
Bro.
Kendrick Lamar's drummer.
Oh, I was just about to say, yeah, is the guy of the Poence of Kendrick.
Fuck.
It's fucking sick.
Wiz Gleaf has got him as well.
Yeah.
Great drummer.
That's fucking cool.
Okay, yeah, I'm in.
Who else you got?
Who else?
Who else?
Again, I want you to really imagine, like, this is all happening.
This is a dream.
Yeah.
Like, it's happening.
People have had, you know, anything you want.
I want ACDC on there.
Nice.
Without anyone being dead or demented.
Yeah, Angus.
Is that the same guy?
Well, they...
Who's dead?
The guy...
Malcolm is dead.
And then they got their nephew to fill in for him.
Really?
I think, yeah.
But he was like...
He was going.
He was like forgetting how to play the songs.
Oh, that's so sad.
Yeah.
Like he'd be trying to learn them before the shows.
Yeah.
I mean, that's me.
Well, that's also really sad, but also I'm a little bit like, wait, is that how it starts?
Yeah.
Because I'll be halfway for a section.
I'll be like, I don't know how this goes.
Yeah.
I hate shows like that where right before a part's going to happen, you're like, holy shit.
Isn't it the weirdest thing?
Yeah.
If you think about it, like, you just go, lucky I know what the next, oh my God, I don't know what the next session is.
The key is you can't think about it.
You can't.
You can't.
But that's all.
sometimes, man.
That's why I like a little buzz before I play.
I like that too, a little shot.
Just summing to just like, well, I'm having fun.
Yeah.
Not like, what's coming up next?
Oh my God, I've forgotten it.
Am I fucking Malcolm Young?
Fucking hell.
That's literally my worst nightmare.
No, same.
That in dropping a stick and not recovering.
I feel like dropping a stick, though, for some reason for me.
If you don't have a caddy on both sides
You're fucked
I got you tomorrow
But if I drop a stick
Part of me feels like
That wasn't my fault
Like I don't know why
Definitely is 100% my fault
No I agree
But like fucking up a section
Yeah
That's different
Is like
That's on you bro
I got the
I told you got the sample pad now
Yeah
And sometimes it's dark as shit
Sometimes I won't hit the
I'm sure the fans don't know
But like
I know the guys are probably like
Who the fuck
I'm worried you hit the fucking...
Brother, it's fucking
pitch black back here, you know?
You know, a little torch, little lamp?
I want to get one of them little clip,
goose egg.
I've got one of those as well, but I don't know where it is.
But the pads lit up, so I shouldn't...
No, you need the little light as well.
You think?
Yeah.
If I knew where mine was, I'd just give a shoe, but I don't...
I'll try one.
Yeah, just get a little...
Yeah, little goosey...
Bugs in back here.
A little goosey gander.
Just fucking look over there.
Look over the bad.
I'm protecting you.
All right.
We've got ACDC and Wiz Gleifa.
Yeah.
We got it.
Bad Oms?
We got someone else who else you want?
We got three day fest.
Who else?
Day three.
Day three.
I want to say stray.
Let's get you guys out there.
I ain't headlining the festival, though.
You can, you know what?
There is a separate question which is like, who's a smaller band that you would
like to be on the bill?
Let you out.
And also, thank you.
The first time that's, I've done fucking.
probably 30 episodes i mean i'm being honest that'd be cool i had to invite myself to someone's
festival that was so cool and i was like can stray play this because that sounds really anyway yeah
i guess you can oh shit thanks bro hell yeah do invite myself yeah right but so we i mean a day three
headliner oasis if that could yeah that can happen that can happen that's nice i think that's
the second time that's been done oasis will be sick yeah i feel like that's on the cards it is on
the cards those two like back and forth
sometimes yeah like no one
no one in their right mind
likes the high flying whatever
or
Liam Gallagher solo stuff
more than they like Oasis together
they like Oasis and what they're accepting
yeah they like Coca-Cola and right now they're
drinking Pepsi that's a really
cool way to think about it thank you I thought about it when I left
Pepsi symbols
To join Coca-Cola.
Like I love Pepsi.
But it's not classic Coke.
You give me the option.
Yeah.
Oh, Pepsi or Coke.
You ever watch Breaking Bad?
Yeah, love it.
I just finished it.
Oh, my God.
This year.
And you remember when he's negotiating, he goes,
well, I have Pepsi when you can have classic Coke.
Yeah.
As if you've only watched it this year.
Isn't it just the best?
Best show I've ever seen in my life.
Literally the best.
And all the guys are like, fuck, I wish I could rewatch it like it was the first time.
I've watched Breaking Bad from start to finish five times.
Oh, I'm going to watch it again.
Have you done better cool soul?
Oh, yeah.
And El Camino?
I haven't done that yet.
You got to watch that.
I like, it's so sick.
Fuck.
Did you, the reason that you've only just watched it?
Is that because everyone told you to watch it and you're going to fuck you?
Because that's what I did.
Yeah.
I feel like, yeah.
And then I, like, I literally this year, I literally finished it on this Europe tour.
I watched, yeah, dude.
I'll give you something to do.
Fuck, it was sick.
There's some moments in Breaking Bad that, like, I've tried to make this a moment on the podcast before where I've been like, I want to have a section.
Other than what was the section I was talking about earlier, that Buckfast and, what was I going to say?
Buckfast and fan fiction.
I think that's actually going to be a thing.
want to do that.
But the,
that's definitely going to be a thing
because it's too cool not to be a thing.
But I wanted to have a thing
where it's like,
have you got any moments
that are non-musical moments
that make you want to mosh?
Right?
Yeah.
Because I think about this all the time,
like Breaking Bad.
The time.
Not even the obvious,
um,
the obvious,
uh,
fucking say my name,
which is amazing that scene,
right?
Great scene.
A fake scene.
Unbelievable scene.
But I think I know you're...
But like...
There's a scene where I'd be like,
fuck.
The scene I'm thinking of...
I want to know what I'm thinking of.
Is it the same?
I hope it's the same.
What is it?
Go, go.
Where he's in the fucking car
and they're about to kill Hank.
And he's like, stop.
And he can't do nothing.
They don't hear him.
I remember that bit though.
Yeah.
No, but I was thinking about...
the scene when
Skyler asks him if he's in danger.
Oh yeah.
He goes, I am the danger.
And I'm like, I want to just start
throwing hands.
Like, that's so fucking heavy.
Yeah.
I want to meet fucking Walter White.
We went to, have you been to the house?
Yeah.
I went to the house.
Before he's been to the show.
Yeah.
No lineage.
Full circle.
Yeah, I would like to meet Brian Krasn.
Yeah.
They got a tequila.
Have you tried it?
No, but you know what?
In Florida, where you're from, in my head?
There's a place called Rocco's...
Tacos?
Yeah, right.
I went for the first time, and it was unbelievable.
Me and my girlfriend were on vacation there, and I went.
And it was incredible, but everyone had been telling me to go.
The next night, when we went for sushi instead,
at that Rocko's, Brian Cranston and Jesse.
pink one where did a guest bar spot what by like didn't even announce it just went to promote the
skeeter i missed it by one fucking day fuck damn great fucking great fucking guacamolema i've never tried it
oh it's fucking unbelievable i want to go i love florida i'm a florida guy i think yeah florida's
cool those people are like oh i fucking hate you dude everyone i know florida's the fucking ass of america
no florida's the glasgow of america everyone's a psycho there's no rules
The weather's better than it is here.
Yeah, I can ride my bike all the time.
Yeah, it's fucking sick.
I like St. Petersburg where you and I were.
That was a cool spot.
Yeah, having two days there.
I think we had a day off and then two days.
Yeah.
My dream festival was just going back there.
Because that was outdoors.
Yeah, it was.
Okay, you got your main stages.
Wiz Khalifa, ACDC.
Wait, no, you need another.
Oh, uh, Oasis.
Oh, Oasis, sorry.
I've been drinking.
Stray is your smaller band?
Are you sure?
You haven't got another band you want?
Another smaller band you think needs more...
Maybe you ever heard of health?
Health.
Health?
Yeah, fucking love health.
Me too.
Fuck yeah, let's go.
That'd be cool.
Put them in.
Dream Festival.
You want to get the fucking...
You want to get Trent Resner in for the...
A little...
Yeah.
Isn't it everyone?
Mm-hmm.
Now it's a dream.
Dude.
That song fucking rules.
Health just fucking rules.
Yeah.
I like that.
I first heard of health.
Is it like more, is it like more, is it a guy or is it more than one?
Like two, two dudes, right?
Yeah, like, I don't even know.
It's like, I've never seen videos of them, but I've just listened to their music.
I know, it's, it's a very least one person, maybe two people.
Like, I could, like, if I was home right now, I could put them on and just lay down and just completely
chill.
That's my shit.
I think I first heard of them
when it was,
that Crystal Castle remix
which was like,
back in the day,
which was like the one
Crystal Castle song.
I was like,
this is sick.
This is cool.
Why is this song so sick?
I was like,
oh, it's someone else.
Cool.
Okay,
health stray,
Oasis,
ACDC.
Whiz?
Whiz Kalifa.
We're at the Buller River
in a little cabin
where you were in a cabin
accommodation-wise.
What is your after pie?
Your dream after pie.
Fuck.
Damn.
I guess for me it would be like, I want everyone to hang out.
That's what would be really cool.
Everyone hanging out, having a drink, or if you don't drink.
What are they drinking?
Drinking a little Maker's Mart.
I'll drink you that, brother.
Maybe a little captain.
Captain what?
Captain and Coke.
Captain Morgan.
Oh, you're rum.
I love rum.
You're wrong.
I could have made you a rum?
Yeah?
After this, maybe I'll have rum.
You can have a rum.
Then I have PTSD because the whole cruise, the cruise I did.
R.
Pepsie, a crackin Pepsi, the guys would come up to me, and they knew my order.
Oh.
And they would just feed me Cracking Pepsi.
I'm like, fuck.
Crackin's gone to say.
I'm a lot of Crackin.
Yeah.
All right.
They're drinking that.
What's your, after party is just a hang?
Yeah.
Just a hang out.
We got good food.
When are you fishing?
When's your fishing happening?
That'd be, like, midday.
Yeah, when there's like bands
you don't want to see.
At your own dream festival.
In fact, someone deliberately put a band
they didn't want to see.
So they could fuck off?
Because they wanted to play
one under direct support,
but then they wanted to watch their headliner.
So they deliberately,
I can't remember who it was,
deliberately put,
it's just a band I don't want to see next.
because then I can go and have a shower
and everything.
Yeah, that's smart.
So you can have a band
a band that you don't want to watch
at all.
You don't have to give it to me
because it's being fucking rude.
I'll tell you I don't want to watch,
ever.
Unless you've got any beef.
Amity affliction?
Yeah, no.
Imagine if you said that.
Yeah, amity affliction
because of the small logo shit.
Jesus Christ.
You know what I like, though?
I like a bit of fun beef.
I like a bit of meming.
I like a bit of beef.
Do you know what I was going to suggest today,
but I didn't want it to be a thing.
You know what would have been funny?
Is if Noah came but didn't say a word for the whole thing.
And we did it as like a joke.
He just sat.
And he sat and I actually,
and we like pre-talked about it,
but I would actually ask him questions
and he wouldn't say anything.
And then you'd have to answer for him.
I thought that would have been so fucking funny.
But realistically,
you kept quite boring after two hours.
Yeah.
But even just for like,
it would have been funny to just do it for a bit.
Just a bit.
Even just as,
we like bits.
A bit,
I love a bit.
Yeah.
But like,
even just as a bit to promote the episode.
So,
and just be like,
so,
you know,
no,
when you were right,
you know,
and he just goes,
and then you would go,
I think one I was trying to say is,
like,
and just have that as the clip.
I was like,
in my head,
it would be really funny.
That would be funny.
I don't want to be funny.
I don't want to be a fucking punisher, though.
He gets punished all day long.
Hey, do you want to come and do a bit of press that you don't care about?
No, I'm not going to do that.
That's your dream festival.
That's a bang on target for ending.
You've got anything you want to say?
You got any...
I love you.
Oh, that's nice.
Love you too, bud.
It's good to see you.
I'm glad your band's doing really well.
It's just cool to see people succeeding.
Thank you.
And maybe we'll play some shows together at some point.
I thought we were on a festival, but I've looked and we're not.
I can't remember what it was.
I'm sure I saw both our names on the same day.
This summer.
It's kind of cool.
Yeah, but you're not doing Europe.
Oh, you're doing Europe.
Yeah.
You doing with Full Force?
Yes.
Nice.
Are you?
No.
Oh.
Fuck.
You really?
I thought that was the one.
Do you have a tech?
That'd be it.
You got it?
Yeah, I got Gabe.
Okay.
What, you want to do it?
Fuck it.
I can come
Go for a spot of fishing
Yeah
Anyway let's figure out what this festival is
Listen to the bad omens
You probably already are
Thanks mate
Thanks for coming on
I'll see you later
I'll see you in one second
I'll see you guys later
I'll see you guys later
