So yeah, feel free to be negative, complain.
I know you're positive and coaching, so feel free to let loose.
No judgment here.
And yeah, we'll have a good time.
And you know, if you want us to move on, just let us know.
I will.
We'll have a fun time.
I have no doubt.
I have no doubt.
All right.
Welcome.
Welcome to The Downside.
My name is Gio Marcos-Sorreza.
I'm here with my co-host, Russell Daniels.
Hi.
How are you doing?
Good.
How are you?
Okay.
That's not the theme.
Oh, right.
Bad, bad, bad.
And we're here.
We're joined today by my spin instructor.
But so many other things.
How do you do it?
Do you have a little list?
Because you have many things, you know.
Many things.
Coach, entrepreneur.
What do you say? I don't know at this point i just i usually just say where i'm at currently currently i'm an
instructor currently just a podcast guest that's all you are today uh and and a star of princesses
long island which my my girlfriend would so we took a spin class with you,
and my girlfriend, she's Jewish.
Did you know that?
I did.
She's quite Jewish, and when we took that class,
she was like, when she saw you, she was freaking out.
She's like, that's Casey.
Yeah, because I think, especially as a Jew,
it felt like that was an earlier reality show that focused on Jewish ladies.
Now there's more
there's a netflix show now about a jewish person no i like me yeah when they first like announced
that type of show my parents were like okay yeah but i didn't live at home oh i see so the premise
of this yeah well yeah well well we'll get to it i just want i also want to say you helped me i have
a new bit from your class that I'm working on.
I've changed it slightly.
We were doing a class, and you were kind of motivating us.
And it was something.
Oh, we had the weights.
So you do like you spin, but then you do some weight stuff.
And we were like boxing.
And you suddenly said, I'm the only guy in this class, at least at this particular one.
And you said, all right, now pretend like you're hitting your ex.
And I could just see some eyes looking around like how am i gonna respond to this prompt yeah so i put down the weights i said no i would never i gave it some space and these
other women they were fucking they were pounding the ex yeah they were kicking oh that's funny
there's no kicking in the class so they were were going nuts. Yeah. But I'm making that into a bit now.
It's a good prompt because usually you'll see like fire.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But, oh, just careful with the mic.
A little closer.
No, it's fine.
We're just, I'm a stand up, you know.
Oh.
This is where we do it.
But you're, you know, you're an intense instructor.
And that's what I like.
And I remember once Tova and I were not next to each other in the class.
And I was like, can you move us? Can we us can we i was like no and it wasn't you the the person at the front desk the person at
the front desk said uh no we we can't move move you guys is that because is that because of like
couples will coddle each other or oh okay so i designed the floor specifically i won't say why
but well why like you know to certain people why
they're sitting in certain spots so that they don't understand but there's a reason why I place
specific people in specific spots so if they're moved around then you know that motivational
cue doesn't work yeah okay so without saying names of specifically john marco and and tova what are there can you
describe maybe like types of like who should be closer to the front who should be more like i
would never put somebody for the first time in front of me a because they will freak out like
b because they probably won't know how to do any of it. And that will also make them freak out. But also it's really distracting for me to watch somebody not on the pace,
not listening to me,
freaking out,
like having their blood,
you know,
like their heart racing.
Like I could see it in their face.
also psychologically,
I would imagine other people in the class,
if they were looking up and the example was someone who was bad,
they'd be like,
Oh,
this spin class sucks.
Yeah.
Not even bad like
they or yeah yeah or struggling or like freaking out like it would affect everyone's mentality I
would think that and it's hard for me to get off the bike to use somebody as an example that's not
listening to me right like I'd rather you sit down and pick up the pace than stand up and like
like I say squid games because it looks like you're going to, you know, that's how I would describe your class would be squid games.
That's what I've been.
So how far like it's the first round of corner was John Marko hidden in?
No, I'm a good spitter.
I'm a good spitter.
I so so yes, thank you.
This is the downside.
One, two, three.
Downside.
You're listening to the downside with john marcos welcome to the downside but uh uh well i'm excited to go into spin working out and a little bit of of princess's long island but first i have to share
a personal downside we had a rough night last night uh uh i guess it's a little bit dark this
is not funny at all so tova and i uh we were at the cellar we had the comedy cellar was getting
dinner and um we were going uh around the corner to i was performing in the lounge and that's a
different different building around the corner and some some dude some motherfucker came up and like kind of box like kind of like pushed into tova
like kind of like like assaulted i guess yes it was assaulted and it was very strange because i
walked down that street and i see a lot of people were there other people on the street oh it's
packed it's mcdougall street so it's just like a lot of people going around and like i'm seeing a
lot of comedians there's just comedians because there's uh three clubs there the the comedy shop comedy seller and the grizzly pear so i'm saying hi to
people and tova and i were joking because i said hi to someone who i had no idea who they were
right gun to my head i don't know how i even met them like not even named like i don't i don't know
who you you exist um and and so some, we're going in the corner
and some guy just like turns
and like very,
for a second it seems like
maybe they're just bumping into each other,
but there's that like split second
where it's clear as Tova tries to move
that he kind of like pushes into her.
And you know,
immediate like,
I try to get in between them,
just make space.
Yeah.
And just keep it moving.
And he's like, he's losing.
Like, something's off.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And he's yelling after.
And I was like, I'm just like, I'm not a fighter.
It's not, which in this moment feels very emasculating.
But you don't want to fight.
You just want to get the fuck out of there.
So I'm just like, we're good. Tova tova's here i'm between them we're walking away
we're good we're good and like tova who who as you know the night terrors we think she has night
terrors she thinks they started because she got mugged uh uh she actually told the story yesterday
so i know it more clearly she was sitting at a train station on her phone someone grabbed the
phone and just started walking and
she was going to la the next day to like go to a company so in her mind she was like i can't not
have that phone yeah and she she basically wrestled with him to the ground and got the phone back
but so this like this immediately just like you know triggered all the things yeah and she was
upset and uh uh you know i felt there's that feeling where it's like, first of all, did I react quickly enough?
It felt like it happened so fast.
Yeah.
And there was a couple seconds where I was like confused what was happening.
I was like, what's going on?
Yeah.
Is this Tova's, maybe it's Tova's good friend.
And they're just gearing up for a big old hug.
Yeah.
And then like that feeling of like, I should have hit him.
Or I should have said, you know, fuck you.
As opposed to like, we're good.
We're good.
It gets so much worse though.
Well, that's the thought.
That's the thought.
In my mind.
And for a moment.
It's just remove yourself from the situation.
Exactly.
You know.
Yes.
Keep it moving.
And then as we were leaving though, so he's yelling.
I'm like, we're good.
We're good.
And Tova was charged up.
And Tova's like, no, we're not good.
And I was like, fuck, fuck fuck fuck um tova's definitely more of a fight like i could see tova getting into a fight sooner oh nicole too yeah yeah yeah
you're you're you're a fighter i would hope so yeah but would you would you like mistakenly just
like hit or would you be like i gotta got to go if it was warranted?
Sure.
Sure.
But it was it made me feel like a bad.
I don't know.
I think I think I did the thing that I was supposed to do.
It was just like get between these two people.
Yeah.
But there's not really a thing of like you've done some level.
You felt like you should have like really like like yeah yeah or
yelled back yeah just been like fuck you but this guy seemed like he would he would come at me and
i was close enough to the cellar where like i could have probably run with tova and there's a
there's a battalion of security guards outside the cellar who i'm sure would be like thanks for
bringing him to us yeah yeah yeah thanks for bringing him to us. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Thanks for bringing this to us.
That would be great.
But it's tough.
It's always that role where it's like I'm the guy.
I want to do something.
And in that moment, I'm just like we got to just leave.
That's the best way out of this is just we go.
This person is crazy.
Yeah.
My instinct is never to
prolong it because i do feel like i i don't you know you might feel but i understand you feeling
um that you you know there is a there's a human nature thing to want to be like yeah i showed him
you know that kind of thing that's what my dad my daddy always said he said walk run away from the
fight i think my dad was like a fighter yeah and. And this is one of the lessons. I had a cousin, I guess, where he got into a bar fight, punched the guy.
He fell.
There was a bottle on the floor, and he died.
And so there's that mentality where it's really where I'm like.
I could kill him.
I could kill him.
I don't want to get in this fight because I could kill him.
Yeah.
Have you ever punched anyone?
Punched? No. Like smacked fight because I could kill him. Yeah. Have you ever punched anyone? Punched?
No.
Like smacked?
Sure.
A good smack?
Yeah.
You did the backhand or fronthand?
I feel like there's a difference.
I feel like it could have been like this.
Oof.
Oof.
Man.
I don't think.
No one's ever slapped me.
I had a girlfriend throw a book at me once.
What did you do?
I walked away from the situation I said
It's okay, it's okay, we're okay
We're okay
You ever punch anyone?
My brother growing up
But not like in the face
You know
But like
Brother fights
So not like real you know, like brother fights, you know?
Yeah, yeah.
So not like real blood or anything like that.
Someday.
I know I need to get punched someday.
I know it's going to happen.
The way that I yell.
You know me.
Yeah.
Sometimes I just yell.
Oh, you're going to get punched.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm going to get punched.
Yeah.
And I'm going to cry.
But shout out to Tova, who was very brave about it.
And then I was worried she was going to have night terrors all night. But they were good. shout out to Tova who was very brave about it. It's just, it's just, it's she's.
And then I was worried she was going to have night terrors all night.
Uh,
but,
but they were good.
Yeah.
That's very,
that's very just,
I don't,
that's a,
I think one of the most jarring things in New York is like when something like
that happens and you're like,
you have no way of predicting that happening.
Yeah.
And it's so jarring and upsetting.
And you're like,
why?
Like what it's going,
you know?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, why did you pick me? It's such a big city. You know, it's like the opposite and upsetting and you're like why like what it's going you know yeah yeah like why did you pick me it's such a big city you know it's like the opposite of falling like how
what are the odds that sure and i also feel especially to me conflicted these days like i'm
not gonna go police police like now i'm like i'm like i'm like hey and i don't feel comfortable
about this so i'm just like well i guess i have to fend for myself depend on a community to get
behind him just try to talk to him
be like let's talk about this
let's talk about
why you want to hit me right now
yeah
yeah
I actually have some
night terrors from Tova
that I think I'm going to play
at the end
oh new ones
new ones
so she has these night terrors
and they used to be really bad
and they're still very bad sometimes
actually let's play one right now
okay
I forget which order I put them in.
This might be the good one or the bad one.
Okay.
Whoa!
Whoa.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Wait a second.
Okay.
Wait.
Okay, you're okay.
Great, you're here.
So that was-
I love your instinct, Sleep John Marcoco is to match her whoa initially you did
whoa
but where is this coming from
she's like he has a microphone in their bedroom at all so so we have an app it's called sleep talk
i think it's specifically for people
with like night terrors where it records all night but it only saves when there's like a loud
outburst so then in the morning like we wake up and we open the app and there's like a mix of like
uh her having night terrors uh cars passing by me farting it's a combo and i think once once we got
a fart on there and yeah yeah how did you know
that she was doing that like did it wake you up oh yeah she wakes me every time and i don't remember
when it happens like i i the next day i feel like shit i'm like why do i feel like a monster uh uh
but in instinctively i think i just sometimes i'll wake up and it really fucks me up i think
here's there's one that was a little bit harsher was this one.
I'm going to get fucking robbed the fucking shit out of my fucking house at nine fucking morning.
What the fucking shit?
So, oh, my God.
And I think I think that was one.
That would be a bad time to get robbed at nine.
Actually,
I would prefer to get robbed at nine in the morning than at nine at night.
You know,
you want to have your coffee before you get robbed for sure.
I just feel like the daylight makes you feel a little less scary,
but,
uh,
it's not an ideal time to get robbed.
Uh,
when you're home.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So that's,
that's kind of what it is.
And,
and the cursing,
I mean,
my God,
I mean,
there was like 10 fucks in 10 seconds.
And yeah, it can be challenging.
That's interesting.
I actually don't know anybody that has full-blown sentences.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, some people, it's cute.
Some people, it's like...
But this is like, what the fuck?
Yeah.
What the fuck?
And here's this one.
What the fuck? It's here's this this one is uh what the fuck it's okay no it's not
so that bucket so your bucket's right next to you so
like that
that's like
so in that example
sometimes it's phone
and glasses
these are like the two
anxiety points
that come back up
each time
you've tried the
the getting off the phone
before bed
getting off the phone
before bed
that that
we're both failing
at that one
yeah
but like there's a lot of like
like let's let's make sure the glasses are here and before you go to bed like let's talk the
glasses are here like try you're trying to reach the subconscious yeah but like if she doesn't have
her glasses she'll say like where are my eyes do you remember that yes i wear my eyes and then the
phone is missing and so like in these most i wake up and i'm like the phone's here and she doesn't
remember any of this yeah and then she goes she falls well it's interesting now about i didn't have
the information before that the phone was the thing that was being stolen when she was mugged
sure so that's very interesting that that's like something that's a key component to these night
terrors yeah but generally they've gotten better they used to be. They used to be worse. They used to be longer, 10 times a night. And this last one, it sounds like her unconscious mind knows now that it's not real.
Because this one feels, you'll see.
Oh, no.
The storm is tough.
Oh, no.
No, they didn't change shit.
Yay.
I'm like deaf.
What was she saying?
I'm not sure.
It sounded like I'm dead or I'm deaf.
One of the two.
But I think she sent me that one.
She was alone.
Where it sounds sarcastic.
Yeah.
It sounds like she's like, oh.
It sounded like what I would do.
I'm having a nightmare again.
Oh, no.
You can't find your eyes.
Where did your eyes go?
And so it's like maybe,
maybe deep down her subconscious,
she's realizing.
Yeah, oh, that's interesting.
That this is, yeah.
Do you think a lot of people
talk in their sleep and don't know?
I have a feeling.
We have no idea when the night terror started
because she had never had sex
with another man before me.
But yeah, I think there's a lot of people though.
People don't know when they snore until they're with someone else.
Right.
And,
uh,
it was,
it was an adjustment.
Yeah.
It's gotten so much better.
The sleep apnea used to be so bad.
It's gotten better.
Oh,
good.
Still not great.
Don't get me wrong.
Yeah.
Still can be tough.
I noticed when I'm on the road,
I'm suddenly well
rested and happy but uh uh so so shout out to tova for taking care of her night terrors yeah
i um but let's talk about you told me a story that someone came into your spin class yesterday
from the show yeah but i'm not gonna mention her name because it's like not even worth
it sure but you don't want to give her free press we don't need that that's exactly yeah yeah why
i'm not mentioning it but you would think like you would think like after 10 15 years like i don't
know if you've ever had this like somebody like walking into your show but they like know it's you
sure but they act like oh wow it's casey
it's like no fucking shit like did you look at the website like it says casey cohen like i'm
confused like yeah how did you how did it not register that i'm the instructor right oh it was
framed like this is like it's a coincidence okay like what's up and i just kept walking
i didn't i know i had this you didn I didn't, I know I had this whole-
You didn't say anything.
So I did, I had this whole conversation with my mom.
I'll tell you why.
So I kept walking.
I did, she was like, hey, Casey.
Like, kind of like, whoa, this is a coincidence.
Like, we're not at a nightclub, right?
Yeah.
We're at a spin studio with four, like, main instructors.
There's two people I work for,
and there's like a couple other instructors, right?
It's not that big.
So to be like, oh my God,, it's you is a little alarming.
Right.
The second thing is I'm not going to acknowledge you because like, why are you in my class?
Right.
After 15 years of like talk shit about me, show up in my class.
Don't really want you there.
Right.
Yeah.
Like, you know, it's me.
So I had this conversation with my mother and i said
she was like why didn't you say hello and i was like why would i say hello because i don't want
to have any type of interaction i don't want to say like how are you because i don't care yeah
right like i'm not gonna be fake so i'm not gonna say how are you like what's going on
i haven't seen you in 15 years like have you done anything yeah yeah yeah well you're talking to two big old fakers
over here i can't imagine russell and i could pass oh someone who killed my parents and i would say
hi yeah no what have you been up to no good for you no i admire your honesty because i wouldn't
want to have like i was more worried about what is she like gonna say to me that's gonna put me off my game to take care
of all the other people in the class versus like let me just ignore it so even at the end of the
class which i normally stay and i like you know fist pound everybody and i'm like what's up like
great job i just went upstairs and i turned off the streaming because i didn't want to have the
interaction well guess what she came back up looking for me and then like a key to the locker.
So I was like, see, I knew, I knew it was like a bad vibe.
She actually took the class.
Yeah.
And then afterwards or before you saw her, did you see her like while it was happening
or before the class started?
Oh God.
Oh my God.
Hey, what's up Casey?
I'm like, you can't be like, wow.
I just darted.
But then my whole whole speech during the class
was about people from high school.
Yeah.
And basically said,
why do I need to acknowledge people
that don't really exist?
Yeah.
Wait.
Wait.
Hold on, hold on, hold on.
Also on some level, though,
where you were like,
there's not even a camera here.
What's the point of you coming?
This isn't even for entertainment.
I'm in my 30s. She has to be in her 40s at this point we were never friends like we don't know each
other right and like she made a judgment without getting to know me which already like put me off
like yeah you know like how can you make a judgment you don't know me yeah so she made a
judgment came in there and i'm like in my brain and my mother who's like very sounding
bored-esque right like I'm like this is normal right mom she's like yeah it's normal I was like
why would you come there if you're in your 40s like looking for drama when you're like
not successful at this moment like why are you leeching on to me that's what was going in my
head like does she want to start something in here? Like there is no camera.
Yeah.
Except for the one that we're streaming on.
But I,
it actually jolted me thinking like,
why would you enter here?
Yeah.
It's so interesting.
I would love to imagine like a super fan,
like in taking your class,
being like,
knowing who she is,
knowing who you are,
being like,
where's the camera?
do you know what I mean?
Where's the camera? Someone you know what I mean? Where's the camera?
Oh my God.
Season two starts now.
People don't know this one that much,
but I was worried because I saw the name
and I wasn't sure.
So I literally made sure it was like out of my eyesight
all the way to the right in the third row.
That's why she controls the seating arrangement,
just in case there's any cast members coming in.
Because listen, if somebody comes into a show
or somebody comes into your room that shouldn't be there,
it could jolt your entire headspace.
Of course.
And I'm there to deliver an experience.
I don't want somebody that honestly shouldn't be in the room
that can't do it anyway in the class.
I would love if you get in that class you're like all right class we're going uphill
the whole day turn it 10 to the right faster faster to the whole class did you know but the
speed is what people can't do of course i want to listen you you go fast my god it's you you take
the class with us oh sure yeah do the class yeah yeah uh it would
be fun but have you ever taken a spin class uh no no it's a fun it's a like i i've done all the
different spin things it's wait i want to go to but i just i have to so so then she because i know
this layout pretty well you leave the class she goes downstairs the lock the locker doesn't work
yes she comes back upstairs into the studio like why into the
studio i saw on the camera yeah and then came out looking for the front desk girl it's almost like
she was gonna ask me so i was lucky that i ran upstairs i had a really bad feeling i'm very like
yeah intuition based and i'm like i have a just a bad feeling like you don't just come to somebody's
class for no reason yeah yeah you sign
up and you see the name of the instructor you know you know that's just like a weird thing
right my mother was like Casey that's really weird like maybe I would have said hello but then after
I explained it she was like you did the right thing because you don't know what she was there for
right yeah I mean also you're like like i'm assuming she in theory then lives somewhere
like because in your mind you're like you're going in classes around where you live or or you know
it's all relative in manhattan but you're like it's just it's just interesting thing yeah it
just seems hard to believe the coincidence sounds like they looked it up and they're like sunday at
four o'clock yeah it's very weird uh thank god it was a whole class no oh just now tell me about the speech
you is do you have this do you have this live stream saved i want to see the speech yeah i do
people from your past i mean nobody well i didn't say they can't go fast sure but usually during
part of the class we set it up where we're giving some sort of motivational speech right but the song I usually curate the song to match what I'm going to be talking about and the song was cold
December or something um it's new anyway um I was talking about not having your cup filled up
right and like giving away your power to another person and going down the rabbit hole of high
school and like your heartbreak and the first moment where I had my heart broken was I was 15 years old. And I just
remember that day that I got that phone call from the guy because he had slept with the girl that
was on my show. And I remember dropping down and just being like devastated, like so broken. Right.
And most people can relate to that because that's the first one.
And you're like, oh, my God. But then you're like, why did I give this person so much power? That's
like building houses in Nicaragua, like 15 years. Right. Yeah. Like when I'm like doing other things
that have no we would never get along at this point. Right. So I was giving this speech about
how you look back at high school. I maybe talked to like four or five people. That's nice. But the rest of them like kind of don't exist in my world because like they just do other things. Maybe they're living on Long Island with kids. Like maybe they're living with their parents. I don't know. But it's not it's like not my business. Right. Sure. But I also said like, you know, people that I think are sleeping with other people's boyfriends, girlfriends, all that shit like karma does come back to you. Right. Sure. But I also said like, you know, people that I think are sleeping with other people's boyfriends, girlfriends, all that shit.
Like karma does come back to you. Right. When you when you make those types of decisions, like whether it be 10 years or 15 years later, like it happens.
Yeah. Right. And then you're in different positions. So, I mean, it went down the whole thing.
Of course. So was that was that moment when you're 15? Does that feel like a pivotal life?
It was horrible. I see it like I still still see it how long were you with the guy probably like a year
or so like maybe even like i don't know i actually don't know but it was so gut-wrenching because
like everybody knew everybody on long island right yeah so everybody it was more like everyone was
talking about it versus i see versus like my feelings so
I I was a year younger and they were all a year older going on this like spring break trip to
Bahamas and it was like oh Casey like I'm gonna you know call you and then it was like I didn't
hear from you for a week and then you come back and then you're like by the way we have to talk
and I'm like I already know I already know like yeah it's hard it's hard to not forget
that moment where you're like that was my like it was broken yeah like my trust was everything
like that moment yeah but you know did you ever talk to him after that again or were you like yeah
we had a very tumultuous like situation where like they broke up she like went to indiana he
went to northwestern i actually visited him we tried to get back together he came back to new
york city i was at nyu we started like seeing each other again i don't know why i think it was more
of like a pride thing yeah like fuck you bitch like i'm gonna go back that's dumb don't do that right but like yeah but it was more of
like a power thing yeah oh interesting i uh oh this sounds awful but i i i mean i i've never
cheated uh but my father was a big cheater for sure my dad was a big cheater and i found out
about it much later in life like do you remember any of his partners or your mom or like them finding out?
Like,
was that?
not really.
But like,
you look back and you're like,
why did the relationship dissipate so fast?
And it was because of like that.
There was a lot of like,
why did,
why did she start acting so strangely?
And it was like,
oh,
because she found out.
Yeah.
He was cheating.
And he's like,
I mean, listen, he could have changed he was cheating. And he's like, I mean,
listen,
he could have changed now.
Uh,
I'm sure he's changed too.
So you get older at a certain degree.
You,
you hope something,
your testosterone chills the fuck out.
But like,
um,
it's definitely weird.
I know,
I know people who found out their dads cheated,
like when they were older and it fucking devastated them.
So it's,
I'm kind of glad I didn't know When I was a kid
Cause my dad was so
Pivotal when I was a child
You know
Back there with divorce
I went back and forth
And if I had like known
He was the cause
Of that divorce
Or like
Just that kind of shit
It would have really shaded
The relationship
Oh yeah
Did your
Did your dad ever cheat
No
No he
No
Okay
Yeah it's fucked up Did your dad ever cheat? No. No. No. Okay.
Yeah, it's fucked up.

And so just to go back to this show, did you know that person was going to be on the show that your high school boyfriend had cheated on you with?
I did.
You did.
Oh, so when the cheating happened, it happened before the show was happening.
It happened before the show, but the girl that did it to me was known on Long Island to do it to everyone.
Oh. So I don't know what went through her brain right yeah exactly like to sign oh my thing i sleep with everyone's boyfriend
and she was proud of it she was proud of it she's like i don't care i want this person i don't give
a shit what anybody else thinks right like that's how you live your life okay no problem but like that character is in quotes a
character right yeah yeah it's insane so but so you when you knew she was on the show yes were
you like i want to confront her on camera no i actually said i don't want to be part of this
show because she's so fucking crazy uh-huh and i said i don't know the rest of the girls that well i know one of them like a little bit and i said this is not going to be good for me because this girl's fucking nuts
and the producers were like this is going to be great for our show right so when i that's the
thing with these shows i thought like if i ever had a reality show it would be the worst ever
because whenever there's a fight i'd be like cut the cameras guys guys why are we fighting here
yeah we're so lucky.
When they do that,
they're paying for it.
They do that too much now too
because they,
like, they tried,
like, for a while,
there was a thing where
they cut the cameras,
and that was like a dramatic thing.
Like, oh,
they're breaking the fourth wall.
They're blah, blah, blah.
But now it's like a go-to thing,
I feel like, in reality.
Do they keep the camera on,
but like it's off kilter?
Yeah, and then you hear them be like,
fuck you.
They do the microphone thing
and they're translating, you know. know but uh the because everyone starts speaking
french um but uh it is interesting because it's like one of those things where so you're were you
all in the same high school or just long island like long island different ages different ages
and then you're they're organizing parties and things for you to go to and right but i was very opinionated
i'd be like i'm not saying that i'm not going there i'm not doing that like i was working the
entire time we were filming so i was still at one oak until like five or six in the morning most
people knew that you were a cocktail waitress um for a little bit and then i was running their
customer development okay so i had like multiple jobs throughout my like 15 year career with them. But yes, I did start out as like host maitre d' at Butter, like the restaurant.
And then I was a waitress.
So being said, right, I was working until like five or six in the morning.
I wasn't drinking at all because I was so paranoid to be on TV.
Yeah.
And I would get my hair and my makeup done.
I'd drive myself to Long Island.
I didn't live at home.
I had a real job.
Right.
And I was paying for myself.
I didn't live in somebody's house where everything was being handed to me.
So that's why I was also being brought on.
Right.
To show like,
you're the real,
like this is actually real life.
Like people pay for shit.
Yeah.
Cause a lot of them are just rich,
just rich families.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then,
uh, uh, Oh, I forgot what I was going to say.
But I know someone on the show, Omari.
She's nice.
Yeah, yeah, okay, good.
Whew, okay.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I saw her last Sunday at my fucking spin class.
No, no, she's.
No, she didn't, no.
She's the one who got me on Real Housewives of New York.
That was Omari.
I did a stand-up set of Real Housewives.
She was the only one that I knew.
I don't really talk to anybody just because I feel like we've all gone our separate ways.
It sounds like we had Hannah Burner on who was on a show called Summer House.
It just sounds like, especially now, there's a podcast circuit.
Everyone goes off on their own, talks mad shit about each other. summer house yes and it just sounds like especially now there's a podcast circuit and everyone goes
off on their own talks mad shit about each other just mad shit and everyone's listening to someone
talk about them on a different podcast to the public and there's just like it just builds and
it builds i yeah that's the other thing i was gonna add to that too is it feels like there's
a funny thing if you watch any of those reunions is like there was a time where they'd be like the the blogs are saying
blah blah and i'm like truly you people on these couches are the only ones reading these blogs
about each other like i like no one is like seeing that do you know what i mean and as someone who
was on those blogs how do you feel russell russell loves a good reality tv show i do love a good i miss this one but i i do love a good reality tv but what
what made you ultimately decide to because it sounds like you didn't want to do it i didn't
want to do it at first until i thought through things and i was like you know what i'm i know
who i am i'm normal like uh-huh to some, right? And I was like, this would be great for my art
because I went to NYU for art.
My master's in art.
So I was like, oh, this would be great.
I could showcase my artwork, me thinking against reality.
This reality TV show is going to be like,
let's cut from the fighting and take a look.
What are you working on painting-wise?
It's 80% fighting and then 20% you showing this painting.
We had this whole gallery like curated with my grandparents
like all this stuff never aired but like in my in my perspective i was like oh this was nice yeah
they aired some of your art i saw one episode where they did show some right so like i thought
it was like oh like bethany frankel like had all this stuff come out and i was like oh this would
be smart for me to like use it as a jump off. Right. We were signed for like six seasons.
Oh really?
Yeah.
Oh yeah.
Um,
and then when you were doing it,
was there any part of you like,
cause you got,
at least I saw two episodes where,
you know,
I got,
there was a fight.
This,
this woman,
I just saw public.
It's on TV.
No,
no,
no,
but,
but,
but she was talking,
she was very drunk.
This,
this woman who,
and what'd you say?
Like,
could you just stop talking?
You said something.
Right, because you're not seeing, like, the 20 hours of her.
Oh, I buy it.
I was ready for her to stop talking just there.
She was, you know, at least right now, until we have her on, she's the enemy.
No, like, no.
I mean, God help you if you have her on.
But, like, no ill will.
Like, I actually, like like after the show like went
to rehab like she did like maybe she fixed herself that's awesome but like it was 15 years ago i kind
of i don't care yeah yeah is it do you ever regret that it's that there's video of you like
being confrontational or crying absolutely not Because you don't see her screaming
and begging me to be her friend
and me being like,
I don't have friends like you.
Like, I don't care.
Like you make these decisions.
You have to live with it 10 years later.
Like you cheat on somebody,
you have to live with that.
Sure.
Right?
Yeah.
You made that decision.
So no, I don't regret anything I did
because I was true in every moment,
regardless of the editing or not. true in every moment, regardless of
the editing or not.
Because in that moment, if you would have seen somebody like doing Adderall and whatever,
God knows what else she was doing in front of me screaming, like, I just want to be your
friend.
I'm abused.
I don't even know what was coming out of her mouth at one point because it was so like
drawn out when I was just like, hey, like it's done.
Like we don't need to be friends uh-huh
right but they are looking to get something out of you so they're going to keep prying and keep
filming and keep filming until like shut the fuck up yeah yeah yeah yeah and you're not drinking at
any point i didn't drink the entire time i'm sure they were they were begging they offered me i said
no yeah yeah she was oh yeah, yeah. She was.
Oh, yeah.
She was definitely, she was.
Is there anything?
But that could have cost me things in the future, right?
Of course, of course.
I had a real job.
I had other jobs after that.
And I was always thinking,
what happens if somebody watches this 15, 20 years later, right?
10 years later.
And is like, Casey, do you regret this?
And I can say, say no i don't
yeah yeah is there anything you uh learned about yourself or like from watch it like after the fact
you watch it all like you watch every episode so we got it sent to us before it would air so you
would have anxiety like three or four days like before it would air and you'd be like i'm safe
you prepare the statement right yeah yeah exactly it was scary it was definitely scary um do i regret anything or no did you like learn anything like you were like oh that yeah
like you were surprised by or an interesting thing that you took away after seeing the actual
like how they you know yeah they like magnified this like guarded trait of me like that i'm so
guarded and all this stuff and i was like mom no it's more like i don't want to like overshare yeah like all this information because like some things have to be kept private
yeah right at the end of the day not everything needs to be like laid out yeah um i if things
that i thought were my truth might have been edited a little bit differently but after like
after watching it no like yeah it doesn't come across too crazy to
me at all. Um, and I will say that like, I've, if I, if I did anything wrong to anybody ever,
I will always apologize. I would always like be like, Hey, you know what? Like I was wrong there.
I was not wrong in a lot of the situations from like a lot of America, right. Would agree with
me and be like, I was
thinking everything your eyes were thinking. Yeah. So it's, it's not like I came on there
being this like psychopath. I came on being almost like a sounding board for America.
Well, I also feel like anytime that people have that complaint on reality, I think of someone
being guarded. I think of like, there's this funny thing where you're like, yeah, but we don't really
know each other. Do you know what I mean? Like, cause your producers are just putting human beings together
on a show and being like once in a while they put a real friend group, but a lot of times it's like,
you kind of know this person, you kind of know this person. And, and then they just force it
to happen. So it's a funny thing where people who are telling everything right away and get
like, you're like, well, but we don't really know each other. I wouldn't do this if there weren't cameras.
Like I wouldn't be sharing certain things because we don't know each other.
You know,
like there's a,
a false thing with,
with,
with those shows,
you know,
obviously it's just very interesting.
I just watched a survivor season one and it's like,
it's very interesting to see early reality TV.
Cause I,
I,
I just don't think people like thought through all the consequences of
revealing certain truths about themselves.
No.
So they really like say some things and you're like,
Oh my,
you understand millions of people are going to see this.
And their mind,
it was,
it was airing that it was going to air one time.
And then like,
they,
they wouldn't have thought of like Hulu existing and like things.
Do you know what I mean?
Like in the nineties or what,
you know?
So there's this one old guy,
he's named Rudy.
And I mean
the number of times
he says like
I don't like homosexuals
you're like
god damn Rudy
and he's old
I'm sure he's dead
I mean that was
you know he died
yeah he died
immediately when the show ended
Tova looked up
everyone who had died
on that show
oh god
everyone on Princesses
is still alive
as far as I know
as far as you know
after that spin class
I was like
and they're all here and we got the cameras this time As far as I know. As far as you know, after that spin class, I was like, she might have jumped in front of a train.
And they're all here.
And we got the cameras this time.
Actually, one of their boyfriends, like ex-boyfriends,
reached out to me on LinkedIn.
You can't make this shit up.
And was like, hey, how are you?
Like, you look great.
Like, maybe we should hang out.
I didn't answer.
I was just like, please.
Like, what?
I don't even need to mention it.
But like, it was just like, are you serious? I don't even need to mention it, but like, it was just like,
are you serious right now?
Like,
were we on the same show?
Like,
why would I ever look at somebody like you?
Yeah.
Like you treated that girl like shit.
And also you're weird.
Like,
you know what I'm saying?
Like that just isn't my LinkedIn.
That's not a LinkedIn.
And it was like,
so sorry.
Is that too much?
I'm like,
clearly no response
that is too much
it's fucking weird
yeah
it's LinkedIn
I would love to see you
on a reality show
where I would produce it
and the goal would be
to make you snap
because you would be
so sweet and so nice
and my goal
for the whole show
would be like
make you lose it
everyone would like me
I think
and then
and then
then the reunion
they wouldn't like me because i would
like you know make some jokes at the oh sure because i feel like that that's what's hard
is sometimes when you're getting interviewed but the talking head stuff i feel like sometimes what
i think happens is people form good relationships with the producer who is like their thing and then
they're like oh we're friends and i'm gonna try to make you laugh and then it's like mean stuff
that then can be,
you know,
then everyone's like,
what'd you say that about me for,
you know?
Sure, sure.
Yeah, but I also don't think
that everyone should like you.
No, no, no, no.
Like I start-
Don't pretend you agree with that statement.
No, no.
For reality TV, I'm saying-
Oh, for reality TV.
Reality TV, fine, maybe.
But like when you come into my class,
I'll always say like,
I'm like 1942 top shelf tequila.
If you like the well tequila
we're gonna have a problem yeah yeah okay that's that's the first thing i said hi how are you
i'm not for everyone well i'm not for everyone right and that's like a thing yeah for sure well
i like that kind of when it comes to coaching we've talked about teachers and coaching i like
someone mean i like some harsh oh you do you do i mean i describe. I like someone mean. I like someone harsh. Oh, you do. You do, yeah. I mean, I describe it mean, but I mean that in like, I mean mean like tough.
I say mean because I mean it in a positive way in this case.
Yeah.
But like you come over, you'll tighten the gear, you'll move the switch.
Somebody was like, oh my God, she touched my resistance.
I'm like, isn't that my job?
I think, listen, this is strange thing to say.
Like, I think in general, so many of these I do do a lot
of like do the class pass so I take a variety of workout classes you've read the reviews on people
you're just like what is going on is that what people say no just people like I get like a 10
positive amazing reviews and then I'll get this like one person that will be like I've been in
fitness for like 15 years and like she was doing advanced stretches on the bike.
And I'm like, that's great.
Like, what is an advanced stretch on the bike?
Like I'm certified through like different thing.
I don't even know what that is.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Right.
So then I'm like, okay, like, guess I'm not for you.
Right.
But like, how do you even handle that?
Well, spin, I think it's definitely one of those things where some people just spin.
They want to do a leisure
spin. They just want to go
ride a bike. Yeah, they just want to
ride a bike without the whole balancing part.
Which is kind of where I'm at too.
I need to sweat. There's nothing I
hate more than you take a class and it's not a real workout.
How do you feel about
the other
Peloton, I'm sure, as a big competitor?
You want to be spinning you
enjoy you love teaching spin so i have been going to spin classes for like over 10 years and i was
taking like four to five a day plus work plus working at night right you'd have to if you're
taking four to five yeah they're expensive taking four to five a day sometimes like the most i've ever
done in one day was like seven um just for fun just like just i know it's like there's people
out there like me yeah they're like fitness fanatics right um and i was working at night
and the whole time i was like probably too scared to tell my parents hey i just went to nyu undergrad grad have my emba like
all these things right and then i'm like hey i want to be a spin instructor like i had a feeling
like my mother was going to be like what even though now she's like all for it they're like
she wanted to be a fit like a phys ed teacher for some reason so she's all like for it she gets it
but i think that there was like a certain time where my parents were like, if you weren't a doctor, a lawyer, this and that,
you're not gonna make a living, right?
Yeah, yeah.
My sister teaches spin in LA.
Oh.
Yes, and she's a dancer.
And she started with this company.
They do it on the beach,
which is tough with their sand and stuff,
but they do it during sunrise and sunset.
Oh, that's cool.
And it is pretty stunning.
You know, there's a lot of, you have to do the headphones that like because they can't play
the music out loud yeah but uh it's a very fun it's a very cool class when when you think about
like when you were like oh wow that's a lot of spin when you think about like a professional
athlete right like serena or venus williams who I like absolutely love. They were practicing probably like six, seven, eight hours a day
before they were going on, you know, to play these huge things.
So like I looked at it like I actually was practicing to be that good.
For sure.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
You're not a big Serena fan.
No, no, no.
We love Serena and Venus here.
Do you bike like normal?
No.
No.
I'm too afraid that I'm going to go down the wrong street.
It'd be really funny if you couldn't bike normally.
I could, but I'm like, it's more like the directional thing,
like with the streets of New York City,
because I get tickets all the time.
And how do you feel?
I mean, spin is obviously, was there,
did it explode in popularity
like a couple years ago?
Like there was a spin,
boom.
Renaissance.
Renaissance.
And you had,
you had SoulCycle,
Flywheel,
and then Peloton.
And they're not doing well now.
I just heard that recently.
You were a big fan of the ad
with Christopher Noth.
I was.
After the accusations came out,
which was very strange of you.
John McCluck's to try
and get me in trouble
in case you can't tell.
These are why he makes bad jokes.
But Peloton,
Peloton,
how do you feel about Peloton?
As like a live instructor,
I mean,
everyone's threatened by
who likes to do live,
and this is me,
I'm a live performer.
We're all threatened
by digital things,
and the question is like,
is it good or is it?
So you know what's fascinating to this question? i'm not threatened ever by like people that do what i
love to do too what i care more about is like can this person is this person certified to teach this
i know it might not seem important to you but it's super important to me like so if you have like you
know a certification nasa and whatever it might be the gear certification for cycling which i have like i at least know that you took the time to
actually give a shit about what you're teaching yeah versus like other companies that just hire
people that like could be potentially like ex-addicts that's fine like not judging i'm just
saying like there should be a basis of education to why somebody's hired answering your question peloton requires all of
these things i see what do you x addicts like as addicts and no i just a big thing i guess so
because i think people are like addicted to like spin right like i just happen to know like a bunch
of people that were what would you see as addicted if they did 10 classes a day you'd be like whoa
seven's one thing but 10 is crazy i never say to do like more than your body you would you see as addicted if they did 10 classes a day? You'd be like, whoa, seven's one thing, but 10 is crazy.
I never say to do like more than your body.
You would, you'll know, trust me, you will know if you cannot handle more than one.
I know halfway through your class, I go, I think I've taken all my body care.
There's people that I know that said that.
Now they take like two to three of my classes.
They love it.
It's like they crave it, but there is like this high to it, right?
I'm not saying it's like an addict, but there is like this high to it right i'm not saying it's
like an addict but that's why i think past addicts gravitate towards fitness it's a different type of
yeah yeah i get that i might i mean i that's i started once i started really working out it was
once a day and i say it's very much also an anxiety it's anxiety for sure but i think healthy
i live a healthy life you do but uh i do i there's
just i did some other spin class where they had it was called it was like a smart bike or something
where the gear didn't the gear didn't directly correspond to the wheel getting harder it was
something like the bike anticipates what speed you're going and they explained it to me 20 times
and they said it's actually better.
And as they explained it,
I said, I don't think so.
I like to have a gear that moves right away.
This was like something weird.
There's like all sorts of inventions to make spin better or different.
And I think,
I like what you do.
You do different like movements on top.
There was some I've never seen before.
We ride to the beat of the music.
Otherwise, some people ride metric based, right?
But I prefer, it's more dance, I would say.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I consider it a dance class.
There's definitely a dancey feel to it.
It's more fun.
It goes by faster.
Yeah.
Would you ever take a spin class?
Yeah, for sure.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's a lot of girls in there.
Now that's, I am curious.
Douglas had a really funny story about that.
Remember his spin class story? So Douglas did spin class on the Upper East Side, I am curious. Douglas had a really funny story about that. Remember his spin class story?
So Douglas did spin class
on the Upper East Side,
I believe.
Yes.
And it was very funny
because he said it was tailored
to like the women in that class
where it was like,
in front of you,
it's the new handbag
from so-and-so
and it's limited edition
and it's one more,
they're going really tough.
And it was like,
you think it's hard
being an officer today?
Try lugging your kids around to the park and then back home to make dinner like it was like your nanny says can i get paid can i get a raise and you're running over her as fast as you can
that's a little too specific i know it i don't know that much like i know a lot about like the
clientele that comes all the time you but I don't know that specific.
I like yours more existential, like high school.
They're nobodies.
Fuck everyone who went to high school.
They fucking suck.
That's my kind of speed.
That's my kind of speed.
Yeah, it's a very good class.
Tova and I think we're going to go once a week. It's in our calendar. It's one of those things. It's a it's a very good class Tova and I think we're gonna go
once a week
it's in our calendar
it's one of those things
it's a regular reminder
in our calendar
we got special spin shoes
matching
Tova's don't fit
matching
Tova's don't fit though
this is
this is my
this has got to stop
I'll do it early
is that
with Nike
they'll tell you this
all the time
they go Nike runs small
I go what the fuck
does that mean
there needs to be if you got it's like you got a ruler at cvs and they're like oh just so you know this
is actually nine inches oh my god that's why my dick was so big i mean like it's just like you
need i these are scales yes we need numbers to correspond to things yeah you can't run small
then go back to the factory and fix the machines yeah i hate i hate that so poor tova she got the shoes they now
they're too tight and we we should just got shoes at the studio do they sell them yeah they sell
them yeah we should just buy those fucking shoes enough with the online ordering i was supposed to
get a bookshelf here they they wrote me they said fedex damaged it on the way here so they shipped
it back and it's been there for weeks and then these chairs these. When are these coming? They said it's the wrong color.
Then this one sold out.
So we're waiting for these chairs to come back.
Building this has been the biggest nightmare of my entire life.
I've been, it feels just like we've gotten used to a world of shipping everything.
Things get stolen from my apartment.
It's like a nightmare.
Yeah.
We had a door dash today.
He left the food outside of the building.
Sent me a picture of the food outside the building.
I ran downstairs in my bathrobe.
It was gone.
Of course it was gone.
Of course it was food.
Of course it was gone.
It was that guy who attacked Tova last night.
He came by.
He took our food too.
He's ruining our whole fucking life.
So the spin stuff is going good.
Where do you want to take it?
Do any spin instructors go on on tour and like do big outdoor classes or big?
Like what's the future for a spin instructor?
Because there's a certain degree of scale.
Like you can only scale so big, I guess.
I mean, I'm really fortunate that I work for like somebody.
You haven't met them, but Joey and Nada.
Because for me, like the first thing they said to me was was i don't want you to be anybody else but casey and like that was like super it
resonates with me because i'm i wouldn't say i'm like on brand with really any brand except for
them yeah um but when i think of the future i'm like i actually want to be like a fitness evangelist because down the road, I feel like between
hospitality and fitness, there's so many stories and motivational speeches that I talk about
like high school.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That I could hopefully help other people with.
So maybe it's classes, you know, teaching from the floor and if I'm too old to ride
and things like that.
But yeah, potentially going on tour
being like a Tony Robbins type.
Sure, sure.
I hope it happens.
That would be cool.
Definitely TV, definitely TV.
Who do you like?
Like who's in that?
Do you enjoy Tony Robbins?
That, but like for me, I study a lot of athletes.
Like I just love their mindset I love
how like they can get themselves to win something even though they could be losing like what they're
tapping into um that fascinates me because I don't even think that they're strong like physically
they're strong mentally yeah and I feel like that's like a dangerous thing um which i like and i don't know i'm what what does the fitness industry do wrong
what do you mean like what what what's not good about there must be some complaints you have not
about your studio but you've worked did you ever work for a different spin company i haven't but i
i was taking a ton of classes in other places and why I love education so much is because I unfortunately
got injured in other people's classes in a spin class in other yes and other things and it that
was the catalyst to me for me to be like I'm gonna go study fitness because you're telling me that I
should be holding this you're telling me that I need to be doing this you're moving my bike over
because um I'm not holding the heavy weights that you want need to be doing this. You're moving my bike over because, um,
I'm not holding the heavy weights that you want me to be holding. Right. But my back's going to
blow out if I do that. Like, why am I seeking validation from a spin instructor? Like, this
is crazy. I'm paying you for a service. So, um, that was actually the catalyst to why I studied
so much and why I was like, I'm going to use this education as a weapon. Sure.
I mean, I feel that I did the CrossFit thing for a little and I got very, I got a hernia and I had to get surgery.
And like, there is a thing, my overall complaint with the fitness industry where there's a
lot of like, they're packing the classes in, they're making them so full and then they're
doing these big weight exercises and the teachers are not paying attention. And there's too many people.
And even if, even when there's not like, there's just a thing where some teachers, it feels
like they're just there to tell you what to do.
And then they're going to socialize for the rest and they might be fun.
But when you're doing like weights and it's heavy and it's scary, you're like, I need
you to be watching me.
My mom's a Pilates teacher too.
She went through a rigorous fucking training.
What's the spin degree or the bike there's you can get like a schwinn like you know certification or different
bikes or you can get the gear certification for from nasm which i have it's kind of like taking
the bar exam that's what it felt like what is it called nasm um nasm yeah it's always like nasa i
was like nasa has a whole spin division what's the uh like what's the
i said audition process uh sure the interview like like what in order to get the job that you had
what what like so you're certified you're good to teach it depends yeah what was that process like
for you in the job that you have now it depends i actually you know because i'm like in in this way
this is the way my mind works. I actually went to another spin studio
before I approached Joey and Nada
and I went through their entire audition process
just so that I knew exactly what I didn't want, right?
Like, cause I knew that at the end of the day,
I would never work for them, right?
But I just wanted to see me get through the whole thing
and then be like, by the way,
like this isn't gonna work, right? So it was just just kind of like a validation of being put down by other instructors potentially
right yeah that are like i'm better than you and it's like okay well that's nice like what are you
gonna do with this are you gonna help other people are you in this business because you want to be
famous right there's two different sure i'd be that one. I think there's like, you know, there's a,
there's an instructor that owns a studio that I literally will never forget that like five years
ago I walked into and I was like, I want to be in fitness. And this guy sat me down and he was like,
you're going to be in fucking fitness, go quit your job. And to this day, I still take him like
four to five times a week because like he was in my corner being like, you're going to fucking do this.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah.
There's people like that that I like love in the industry.
And then there's people that are like, I'm better than you.
Like, you'll never know what to say on a mic.
And you're like, fuck you, bitch.
Like I was on a reality show.
I know what to say.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's my sister.
Fuck you, bitch.
She's very good.
She's very good at it.
I had a good time.
I want her to be meaner. She's very good. She's very good at it. I had a good time. I want her to be meaner.
She's a very positive spin teacher for sure.
And there's also like a weird,
I thought it was very funny.
When I took the class,
there was kind of like,
she's motivating you to get in shape,
but she's also like,
she's very careful about the language
of not saying like,
shed those pounds.
There was a different time
where fitness would very much be like burn that fat.
And I feel like there's a very much like,
well,
we can't say that,
but a lot of people are taking fitness to lose weight.
There's a,
just a strange,
I just don't like when people like say things without actually saying them.
Yeah.
And she,
there was just like this thing at some point she,
I think she accidentally had a slip of like,
you know,
burn those calories unless you don't want to, unless want to eat a cake too it's fine the easy way to
get around that is the title of the class because like because if it's like burn that fat you know
like like thing you can be like okay these people want that because a lot of people want that you
know like a lot of people want that yes language yes and then then maybe once a week there's a
class that's like but that's what demi Demi Lovato got mad at.
Those cookies.
Remember?
Demi Lovato said there was a cookie that said guilt free.
Oh, yeah.
And they said this is bad.
You're saying sugar is bad.
Yes.
And there's a certain degree where.
Okay.
Yeah.
I think you get to say in the title.
I agree.
That's a good.
Yeah.
Or like somebody says now you can eat this.
I hate that. Yeah. What do you mean now you can eat this yeah i understand i do have that mentality in my head though like after i take your class i have a feeling of like i'm gonna have a
but for an instructor to say that instructor is like now you can eat this it's like no why couldn't
i eat this before sure it's a little like going to get um
to the priest to do the like you know to confessions to be like then being like oh
like so people can just like i i imagine some people yeah yeah their relationship to fitness
is that of like sure like now i can do bad you know like they're getting absorbed i've had those
teachers they said now you can have all the margaritas you want tonight yeah and i was like
bitch i have all the margaritas i want any night of the week
i don't care what i got the next day yeah um all right let's move on to our next segment
this has got to stop this has got to stop did you do you have this got to stop for us today
yes so you know when you're talking about something right and then i hope you're not
about to say something about this podcast no right now no and then it fucking shows up on your phone okay okay my my girlfriend is it thinks they're
listening now do you think they're listening it has to stop i every time i fucking talk about
something with somebody i'm on my instagram feed i'm like why is this showing up 90 percent of the
time i am i will believe because then people then people will, they'll say this,
they'll be like,
it's not that it's that sometimes people are Googling.
I say it's like they're Googling things.
There's a whole algorithm bubble.
And 90% of the time I'm agreeing with you.
I'm blah,
blah,
blah.
But every once in a while I'm like,
no,
I said that specific phrase 25 minutes ago and now it's popping up in an ad and I didn't
Google it.
And I know that I was in my house on the phone.
No one around me was Googling it.
Here's what happens.
Think of all the data points they have.
They find that people who fit your data points have a higher likelihood of talking about this thing.
And so all these points come together and they figure it out.
And I know what feels inconceivable is it does it without you being able to understand the connection.
John Marco, sometimes.
If they were listening, it would be the biggest scandal in the history of the world.
It probably will be in the future.
And I can't wait to come back and play this for you, you dummy.
And you're like, no, they wouldn't do that.
I trust all these men. Like, what and you're like no they wouldn't do that i trust all these men like what do you like i i don't think listen i'm agreeing with you most of the
time but every once in a while i agree there's a thing where i'm like there's no fucking way i
just said this very specific very niche thing and now it's like here's here's my argument against
the idea that they're secretly listening that they're doing something illegal is that the
number of it's a human it's not like it's like
they're there's a man sitting in a room doing it but it's like you know it's like alexa but
they're but they're not allowed to listen to the audio it would be in the contract if they were
i'm saying the number of entities that want to take down facebook and instagram if there was
proof that they were listening it would be public they would be the government would have got after
them the government wants to break up these companies.
Trust me, they're begging to find out that Mark Zuckerberg listened once.
Marco, I'm agreeing with you.
I'm agreeing with you because I'm a rational person.
You're agreeing with me 90% of the time.
I'm agreeing with you with 90% of the time.
But, you know, I—
You're like someone who says—
All of a sudden getting an ad about like a beaver trap or like something like crazy like that.
A beaver trap. No, but I'm just like saying like a beaver trap or like something like crazy like that. Like beaver trap.
No, I'm just like saying like, it's like something very like I would, there was no way anyone in New York City would be Googling it at the time.
But you're like someone who says like, listen, I don't think ghost stories are real.
But there was this one time that I swear my grandma came back.
So you really think they're listening?
Yes.
Okay.
And it's got to stop.
It does.
You guys listening?
They're hearing this right now.
Listen to us.
This has got to stop.
Stop listening to our conversations.
Let's go on to our final segment.
You better count your blessings.
You better count your blessings. You better count your blessings.
Russell, you have a blessing to take us.
Yeah, so I was a little paranoid in the way here.
So, you know, this is not funny.
There's been like people getting pushed more on the thing.
So I've been very conscious of like push more on,
onto the subway tracks.
Oh,
I didn't know that.
It's been a lot of recent anyways.
So I've,
I was in my head about it.
I was like,
I don't want to stand too close to the thing,
but you also want to get on.
And so anyways,
I was sitting there and that's where my head,
what space was that,
which is not a great head space to be in on your commute.
And then like it was a crowded train.
And then there was a guy right in front of me
and it looked like he had a knife like uh like that it looked like a handle of a knife he was
holding and i was like then and i just saw scream recently and i was like oh man i'm gonna get
stabbed and i just was and then it turns out you know what it was not a knife it was just like a
weird tool that he had there was no blade but it looked like a handle of a knife.
And so,
uh,
my blessing,
I was in my head and I didn't get stabbed on the way here.
And I really,
for like a five minute period was like,
cause you're like,
what are you going to say?
You're going to be like,
is that a knife?
Do you know what I mean?
Like I really convinced myself that it was a knife.
Yeah.
And,
but then you're like,
what do I,
you know,
if it is,
what am I going to do? Am I going to like, cause I didn't know, do i you know if it is what am i gonna do am i gonna like
because i didn't know you know then if it was i don't want to like be like sir because he's
standing right above me sir is that a knife you know um is that how they caught the guy and scream
sir is that a knife take off the mask i can't hear you at all it was funny because i saw he
moved it in a way and i was like oh there's there's no blade. It's just a weird tool.
And then I looked and I was like, what kind of tool are we talking about?
He's double masked.
I was like, no one wearing a double mask.
Two screen masks.
No, you know, like he's being cautious.
I was like, I don't think he's a stabber, you know?
Sure.
So I didn't get stabbed.
No one pushed me on the tracks.
And I was in my head and I feel, you know, my blessing is I didn't get stabbed.
That's that's a good. Hey, that should be your blessing every day.
Was Scream good?
I enjoyed it. I felt like nostalgic for, I remember being very into the Scream, like the first Scream.
I remember seeing it and having nightmares and never wanting to watch scary movies again.
So it was nostalgic, you know.
Sure.
Oh, I remember seeing murder when I was a kid
and I thought
I wouldn't die
just the people in movies
died horribly
also I had
I was very thankful
for we had a really nice meal
we did
with
with the guys
from Uncle Function
Uncle Function
and that was nice
we don't get to
we see each other a lot
but we don't get to
do that kind of thing
and I was very grateful
what was the name
of that restaurant
Choucret Chouquette Ch chou cat it was amazing it was really and
this was a good it was really this was they they were taking us a long time to have a seat it's
not that long though no but they had us they uh wait outside because of covid and then they brought
a champagne on the street yeah we got to drink champagne and smoke some cigarettes yes i uh does
your wife know that you smoke cigarettes sometimes uh yeah she does but i hope so yeah she does uh but it's like tova was like whose cigarettes are
those i said russell she said russell they're from like they're from like i mean i i'll get
like a pack for once a year you know and like and like a big occasion like that what you you
finish the pack and it's january russell what no that from 2021. It was from months and months and months ago.
And it's like, you know,
if I see Douglas,
because Douglas likes to do it
if we're out for a thing.
So, but it's very special occasions.
You know?
And I feel,
I feel there was a time
when I didn't have
that very good relationship with it
where it was like more regular,
you know?
How regular?
Nothing,
I would never like
even a pack over a month like
but like more regular yeah you know like now it's very much i tried to become a smoker once
and it didn't work yeah i liked i i don't like how it smells in the clothes after the fact i
like the moment fingers it's gross after smell the next day it feels terrible it's not a good
it's not a good it's something about that smell I just associate with, just like your life's falling apart.
Depressing.
It's a, yeah.
I once slept, oh, this is so dark.
So someone, my dad dated, and they still stayed friends.
And for some reason, I slept over at their house one day.
And I woke up in the morning, and I had to use the bathroom,
and I went to the basement, and there were cigarette butts everywhere,
just crammed into ashtrays
and tops of bottles.
Something about that moment,
I was like,
my grandfather who died of cancer
smoked like a chimney.
So something about it,
I associate with like death
and your life's a mess.
For sure.
But the two we had was very nice.
My blessing,
I don't think I've ever
said I'm blessed for my father,
but we'll break that tradition today.
He's taking a break from the
cheating to
I have a college gig
that's in
Virginia, and I was
thinking about, I can't drive so normally i get an
opener i gotta you know give money for the the opener to drive me there and they open the show
but i realized oh my god my dad could drive me to this gig and uh he's he's more than willing
so i'm gonna fly into virginia he's gonna drive me there nice and i even said because i'm getting
like two grand for the gig i said you know what dinner's on me which is a which is which for our relationship that's a big yeah that's a big thing
so we're i said whatever fast food restaurant you want we're going there and get the get the
big soda get the big boy you're gonna watch him eat you're just like no no nothing for me
oh that is the word there is that thing of, especially if you're paying and like you don't want to drink alcohol, but you want that.
Oh, yeah.
Have a good time.
I'm just going to stick with water.
Yeah.
I didn't want time for our sketch team.
I paid for the meal and I felt.
But I had also not paid for other things leading up to that meal.
So money, money, money.
Do you have a blessing?
I do, but it's totally random.
That's great.
That's great.
OK, so like we're
neighbors kind of you know right but when you think about new york city you're like wow like
you know it's very hard to find a good apartment have you ever lived in an apartment without a
dishwasher have i ever lived without one yeah right now oh my god so that that is my biggest
pet peeve like ever like like not having a dishwasher.
Can I tell you why?
I have a dog.
So like,
it's just like grimy shit.
Like me cleaning the,
you know,
the dog bowl and like,
it's just disgusting.
Yeah.
So for me,
like I am so grateful.
It's dumb,
but I,
that I have a dishwasher.
It's like life changing.
I know.
Oh God,
I can't believe you don't have one.
Yeah.
I never, I've never had one it like since like becoming an adult like i've never had one
like a regular dishwasher so i don't even know what i'm missing out on oh it's a deal break like
i literally will see once you have it yeah it would be i'll see the nicest apartment ever and
i'll be like why don't you have a dishwasher i don't care about the washer dryer you can always
find a laundry i would i would take a washer dryer over a bed no but you have a dishwasher? I don't care about the washer dryer. You can always find a laundromat. See, I would take a washer dryer over a bed.
No, but you're using dishes.
Yeah, fuck the bed.
You're using dishes every day.
Every day you use dishes.
You don't need laundry every day.
Unless you're getting food delivered, right?
But like there's bacteria
like all over the fucking dishes.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
If you're not cleaning it, right?
You're not sitting down for a lot of videos.
In a way, I have a dishwasher.
Her name is Tova. And she is... No's a joke i do her i do her dishes sometimes i think we haven't even
probably badly for sure but there's nothing worse than someone my dad he would like well
have you ever been to someone's house where the dishes the clean dishes are not clean oh yeah
that's what i'm getting at yeah yeah that's what i'm saying like at least if i'm like out all day i'm like oh press clean i get home and i'm like i know that they're clean
yeah what kind of dog i have a teacup yorkie she's small yorkie yeah sure sure did you do bring
what's the name riley riley do you bring riley to the studio ever no but i should yeah bring riley
there's another dog there sometimes, right?
I saw a dog there once.
Maybe someone was just bringing, I saw a dog. Maybe.
I swear to God, I'm not crazy.
Joey has a dog.
Okay, Joey.
Well, speaking of Joey, do you want to plug anything about yourself, the studio?
I mean, if you want to come to our classes.
If you still want to come to this class, know you're in for top shelf tequila.
But if you like that top shelf tequila.
But if you like that top shelf tequila,
where can they find the class?
You can go on Instagram at Pedal House NYC or Punch Pedal or me or Joey, you know.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So as long as you were not on Princesses Long Island,
you are welcome and you're going to get a pound
and a big welcome hello.

Lots of dates. Just touring around the country trying to find the next
variant.
Thank you so much.
Just remember
whether you're in shape or out of shape,
one day life is going to
spin you down until you're nothing but dust.
This is the downside.
One, two, three.
Downside.
Downside.
Downside.
