And you can also send me a voice message to be featured on the show. Just click the link right here if you want to do that or click the link in the show notes. First question. How do I test for mold? both in the body and in your home. It's very easy.
Starting point is 00:02:58 There's a lab test kit from a great company called Vibrate Labs. So it's the Vibrate Labs test kit or mold inspector. You can simply search online for Vibrate Labs mold test kit or mold inspector and you'll find that online. But if you want to know for yourself, if you've got mold both in your body and in your home, use the Vibrate Lads test kit. That's who I personally recommend. Number two, what are my top herbs for mold? Question here says, on your recent podcast last month, I heard you and Dr. Christopher Motley suggest herbs like Smilax, Neem, and Catsclaw.
Starting point is 00:03:35 How much do you recommend taking of these and how often? Okay. So the first thing I would say is if you've got mold issues, you want to clear out the air in your home. Okay. I recommend that, listen, there's lots of good brands. My favorite is Jasper. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:50 There's also companies like Air Doctor and Intel appear, but I really think the Jasper is the premium company out there in terms of an air filter. So that's who I'd recommend. So get that air filter. And by the way, it's amazing. This air filter actually shows you how much of these airborne particles are in the air. Okay, so you'll know what's going on partly when you're home too. So I would recommend getting that air filter.
Starting point is 00:04:16 The next thing I would recommend doing is I would eat a healthy diet. I would eat a diet that's very high in vegetables, very high in, Low complex carbohydrates like berries, very high in protein, and getting some good fats as well. And then I would recommend the Smilax, the Cats Claw, the Neem. Smilax is around. And Smilax is also in a Sasparilla. This is often used for skin conditions as well like psoriasis. But you want to do about 1,000 milligrams of that.
Starting point is 00:04:45 You want to do about 1,000 milligrams of Catsclaw and around 500 to 600 milligrams of Neem. Okay. So those are good options. Now, in addition, depending on what you have going on, I really like olive leaf. Olive leaf has been used in the Middle East for thousands of years for treating mold infections. So I would say that's at the very top of the list. If you also have mold, there are also herbs like pal-darko and oregano that can be good.
Starting point is 00:05:08 But my top four, I would say olive leaf, smilax, cats claw, and neem are the best. And you can take those either as capsules or as an herbal tea. Okay, so you might decide to, you know, do smilax. and cats claw as supplements and Neiman olive leaf as an herbal tea and you might even be able to buy blends that have all of these in them together, at least a few of them. But those might be my top four.
Starting point is 00:05:34 And then I would definitely recommend a probiotic supplement. If you have mold, you want to take a soil-based probiotic supplement. Those types of probiotics, like bacillus, subtilus, bacillus, coagulins, the bacillus species, are able to move out some of the bad bacteria and the mold that is within your system.
Starting point is 00:05:53 So a soil-based probiotic. And then I think you want to also take some supplements that support glutathione production. That could be a glutathione supplement. It could be an an acetyl cysteine. It's a NAC, NAC supplement that supports glutathione production. That's another option. So you want to boost up glutathione in your body. Milk thistle does that as well if you want to do it as an herbal.
Starting point is 00:06:15 But milk thistle, glutathione, NAC, they're all going to have similar benefits at boosting up glutathione, which is your body's mass. master antioxidant at getting rid of mold and other toxins within your system. Now, for a short period of time, and if you're working with a practitioner, oftentimes you can use binders that will bind a mold and pull them from your system. Some of the most common binders include activated charcoal, carbon, bentonite clay as a liquid, and colostyramine is another one that's very common. And then humate or folic acid.
Starting point is 00:06:51 So humate is another one found in some probiotic supplements. These combine some of these things in your body like mold and help remove them from your body. I mean, there's a powerful probiotic I saw that's on the market now. It's called probiotic trillion. It's got a trillion probiotics in it. And I know that has humate in it as well. So some of these will have both of those in it together. But again, I recommend looking for soil-based probiotics as well.
Starting point is 00:07:14 Those are good. And then also in addition to that doing things like, again, like a carbon or a humate or or a bent night clay. But you only want to do those typically for a short period of time. Humeet you can do long term. But activated charcoal, you'd only want to do that for a maximum of a couple weeks or a month and not more than that because it causes constipation. It also binds to minerals.
Starting point is 00:07:35 So you don't want to overdo the activated charcoal. It's not something you'd want to do on a daily basis. And in terms of treatments for mold, I really like ozone IVs along with hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Okay, getting in a hyperbaric chamber, especially. a hard chamber, a soft chamber can be good too, but hard chambers are more powerful. And then ozone therapy, okay, getting ozone IVs, like a 10-pass would be very, very good for cleansing your body of mold. And those are some of the things that we do. But the biggest thing with mold,
Starting point is 00:08:06 you got to remember, is if you are in a moldy environment, like your home has mold and it's air ducts, you can't supplement your way out of that. Okay. You have to get rid of the mold. And so that's why I would do the testing we talked about from Vibrant Labs. I would get the air filter from a company like Jasper and then do these supplements as part of a detoxification protocol. All right. Next question here. What can we do to detoxify from toxins and chemicals we're exposed to?
Starting point is 00:08:36 They are everywhere. They are everywhere. I mean, I think about glyphosate, which is found in our food supply, all the forever chemicals, all the plastics. We're surrounded with a lot of chemicals. What I would say is, rather than doing a really heavy detox, unless you have something like mold, which we just talked about,
Starting point is 00:08:52 is gently living a more detoxification lifestyle, okay? Eating a diet that's very high in vegetables and fruits and lean organic meats, okay? Like organ meats specifically. So doing more of those things. Infrared sauna is fantastic for detoxification. Exercise and sunbathing. Walking in nature is one of the single greatest things you could ever do to detoxify your body. When you're walking amongst the trees, you're getting all of that good air in your lungs.
Starting point is 00:09:23 It's naturally detoxifying there. And so I would recommend walking in nature, doing nature walks on a regular basis, very detoxifying. Certain herbs, milk thistle, dandelion, burdock are going to be very, very high on the list of herbs that detoxify your body. So I would consume those as herbal teas or as a supplement on a regular basis. Spreelina and Chlorella, those seaweds are amazing detoxifiers. And then again, probiotics. There's actually a recent study I saw on a very specific type of a probiotic called AB22. It's a type of bacillus subtilis.
Starting point is 00:10:00 It's a soil-based type of a probiotic. And that specific strain actually helps break down glyphosate, which is probably the number one chemical that's poisoning us on a regular basis right now. And so if you take specific types of, not every probiotic, but specific types like soil-based organisms, they will help your body break down glyphosate and eliminate it from your system. So those would be the top things I would do on a regular basis.
Starting point is 00:10:27 Again, infrared sauna, and that's not number one, but it's still on the list. Infrared sauna, eat more fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and omega-3 fatty acids. Do herbs like milk thistle dandelion and burdock. Do some spreeleine of clorella. Get some probiotics. That's going to support detoxification in a major way.
Starting point is 00:10:43 And then if you want to do an IV, like a Myers cocktail, That's great as well. That's going to have vitamin C. That's going to have glutathione in it. So I do think doing IVs on occasion are also very, very beneficial for detoxifying your body. Next question here. Do you have any suggested brands for non-toxic candles or others to keep your home smelling good while not breathing in toxins? Well, I can share with you what we do in our home. We do essential oil diffusers and essential oil-based candles. Those are the two things we do. We use essential oils, essential oils, essential oils. Essential oils are made up of volatile compounds from plants that are all natural that also have benefits for your body. Like Chelsea right now, you know, in the fall, she's starting to diffuse a blend of, I want to say
Starting point is 00:11:33 it's got like clove and cinnamon and ginger. We have another one that has fur, so it's more of like a very woody scent that feels very kind of winter. And so, you know, we have one that's almost like a pumpkin pie spice with some ginger in it. So, so we're using a lot of these floral and barks and in seeds and in roots, these sort of herbal oils on a regular basis. So I would get an essential oil diffuser and buy some quality essential oils and then buy candles that are essential oil based.
Starting point is 00:12:07 And that's what I would do to keep your home smelling great without the chemicals. And if you've looked at the stuff, on how bad these candles off for your home. It is, they're just absolutely terrible. They're endocrine disruptors. For women, they'll cause your estrogen to get too high. There's cancer risk. For men, it'll drop your testosterone levels.
Starting point is 00:12:26 You want to stay away from the conventional candles and go all natural with essential oil-based candles. I got a voice message here from Jennifer on, on thyroid health. So Jennifer, go ahead and ask your question. Hi, Dr. Axe. I listen to you all the time, and I follow you closely on your thyroid. information, but can you please address people who have no thyroid? I had to have mine removed for cancer in 2020, and I just would love any information you can give about how to live without a thyroid.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Yeah, yeah, Jennifer. So, when you've had an organ removed, one of the first things I recommend is consuming glandulars on a regular basis. This is for thousands of years what practitioners have recommended if somebody has had to have an organ removed or it's not working. So for instance, if you've had your thyroid removed, I would take a thyroid glandular. And one of the organs that has to make up for the thyroid often being gone are the adrenal glands. So I would take a multi-organ supplement. Okay, so find a supplement that has liver, heart, thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, kidney that has these multiple organs in it. And that's what I would specifically take. So that's the first thing.
Starting point is 00:13:41 And then I would also take something that is a thyroid support. It's probably going to be an herb that has a blend that has Ashwaganda and other herbs that are supportive of the thyroid. Certain vitamins and minerals probably has vitamin, a lot of the B complex vitamins, selenium and iodine. You could take some of those. But in particular, I would take a vitamin, a multivitamin that is specific to the thyroid or a thyroid blend.
Starting point is 00:14:06 I would take a multi-organ supplement or a thyroid glandular. And then you probably, I'm guessing, are already on a natural thyroid medication like an armor or a nature thyroid or something like that. And then you might also consider peptide therapy. There are very specific peptide formulas that are good for if you've had your thyroid removed. So I would do a Google search yourself and search for best peptide injections for thyroid health. Okay. And you can go and work with a functional medicine practitioner that can actually do that. peptide injections for your thyroid.
Starting point is 00:14:42 And then in addition, use food as medicine. When you've had your thyroid removed, in Chinese medicine, the thyroid is part of what they call the upper burner. It's part of what fuels and keeps your body warm. This is why if your thyroid's not working properly, you'll notice your body temperature will drop. So a few other things you want to do. You likely want to do a little bit of infrared sauna.
Starting point is 00:15:01 You also want to take some Epsom salt bath, so you want to keep your body warm in that way, using pumpkin pie spice in your food. Again, those warming spices like clove and ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon are going to be good for your body. And you want to keep your body a little bit warmer probably but to support your thyroid for because of now being gone and what that's going to do to your metabolism. But those are some of the things I would do. And I think you'll see if you do that, it's kind of a really positive impact on your thyroid health. You might also find a practitioner. I mean, when you've had an organ removed, oftentimes working with,
Starting point is 00:15:37 the functional medicine practitioner to help you can be beneficial. And by the way, anyone that's listening to this, very similar, if you've had another organ removed, if you've had your gallbladder removed, you want to take gallbladder and liver, okay, as a glandular. You want to take ox bile or something very similar to bile to break down fats and digestive enzymes. And so you want to do some things there and probably do a little bit lower fat to support your body in that way as well. If you've had your gallbladder removed, very similar if you've had other organs removed. You've had your kid one kidney if you don't have two if maybe you donated one or or have kidney issue you want to take a kidney glandial organ supplement on a regular basis so you're getting that in your diet and it will
Starting point is 00:16:17 support um your body in that way question here from matt he said i want to avoid surgery for gallstones are there any foods supplements lifestyle tips you have for reducing pain and inflammation to heal naturally well actually very similar matt i didn't know this is what you were going to ask here um but i i I generally mentioned that. If you have gallstones, and yes, you don't want your gallbladder removed. I had a close friend of mine who called me and he was literally in the hospital and they said, he said, hey, they're about to remove my gallbladder. Should I haven't removed?
Starting point is 00:16:47 I said, no, he literally got up off the table in the hospital. This is actually a pretty well-known person that you guys had recognized. I've actually trying to think I've had him on the show, if not I'll have him here in the future, amazing friend of mine and literally left. And so, and he's fine. This was about eight years ago. And I've done this with many patients over the years. You rarely ever want to have your gallbladder removed.
Starting point is 00:17:10 For gallstones, what you want to do is you want to, if you're eating high fat, you want to do low to moderate fat. You do want to get some good fats primarily from coconut oil. That is the fat that your body will deal with the best if you have gallstones. But you want to do a lot of milk thistle. You want to take a liver gallbladder supplement. So you want to get liver and gallbladder. you want to take ox bile and you want to take lipase enzymes. One other thing that's very, very good for removing gallstones is eating a lot of apples.
Starting point is 00:17:42 Okay, you could eat three apples a day. That should be your source of carbohydrates doing fresh pressed apple juice. But apples in particular are known for supporting and eliminating gallstone issues. And then I would see an acupuncturist. They can give you some advice. Acupuncture would be very, very good for avoiding surgery due to gallstones. but listen, I would eat really lean meat, a lot of vegetables, and a lot of apples. So meat, vegetables, apples, meat, steam vegetables, maybe have that with some hummus.
Starting point is 00:18:11 Steam vegetables, hummus, apples, almost, you know, a lot. And if you do that, that's going to help tremendously in the long term. So apple juice, fresh press, no sugar added, along with apples. That's actually an ancient therapy. And there is an old gallstone detox by Holda Clark. And basically what you do is you do a gallstone cleanse. You will consume, this is going to sound like a lot. You basically drink an entire pint of grapefruit juice or and maybe a lot of lemon juice.
Starting point is 00:18:46 You do about a cup of extra virgin olive oil. So you drink olive oil. And you do this at night and you lay on your side. Now up until that point after, you want to do mostly steam vegetables, apples and things like chicken broth. Okay, and it's about all you do for three days. So there are gallstone cleanses you can do. There's variations of what I just shared.
Starting point is 00:19:07 That's something you can do. I don't recommend doing it all the time, but doing that a little bit. And I want to say you do olive oil and sometimes flax oil. It's sort of a combination sometimes. But you could look up Holda Clark's gallbladder cleanse, gallstone cleanse, if you really want to do a gall to cleanse those gallstones as an option. All right, question here from somebody who wants to remain anonymous. miss. She says, I've had four miscarriages all under 13 weeks. Do you have any advice on what I can do?
Starting point is 00:19:34 Well, first of all, I'm so sorry for your losses. I know that that's incredibly hard. And there are some things that's known in Eastern medicine that cause or make somebody more prone to miscarriages. And it really has to do with something in Chinese medicine, they would call your earth element. It's connected to your spleen and your pancreas and your upper digestive system. And it's if your body is not warm enough, not hold on to things very well. And so the diet, let me first get into the mindset. The mindset around this typically is you need to feel safe and secure. Okay. And women will call this nesting. Okay. I remember when Chelsea was getting pregnant, she's like, I need to, we can't rent this. I need a home. I need to, I need us to be in a home. And I need to know where I'm going to like, so this was a real thing that
Starting point is 00:20:23 we experienced in marriage. And, and you want to feel like you're coaching. up on a couch with a warm, you know, blanket, sipping cider, you know, warm hop cider or hot cocoa or coffee and, you know, watching a show, a hallmark movie or whatever with a fireplace going with your loved ones, with your spouse. That's what you should feel like as much as possible. Do everything you can to create that environment in your life. You're not busy all the time. You're not on the go. You might have other kids. But again, you do want to create some margin to where you can sit down and feel like it's Thanksgiving and Christmas wrapped into one. That'll support your body.
Starting point is 00:21:06 So think about how do you create more of that environment in your life? How do you feel more safe? How do you feel more secure? How do you feel more nested in a home? Talk to your spouse about that. Okay. In addition, from a dietary standpoint, the way to fix that is eat like it's Thanksgiving. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:20 You want to eat a lot of foods that are orange. Okay. You want to do a lot of, like think about recipes like Shepard's Pie. doing, you know, beef stew, doing chili, doing chicken pop pie, you know, ideally doing a lot of sweet potatoes would be very good for you. So sweet potatoes and yams, a lot of grass fed beef. You want to go higher protein, a lot of beef, a lot of chicken especially. Salmon's okay too. Lamb is really good, doing lamb chops. Venison is great, so you want to do a lot of meat as a primary. Secondarily, a lot of steamed and cooked vegetables. You can have those with hummus. You can have those with a little bit of sea salt. You could
Starting point is 00:22:02 coat them in olive oil or coconut oil and put those in the oven. But you want to do a lot of baked and cooked vegetables. If you're going to do fruit, do things like applesauce at room temperature with pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon that is very warming and nurturing. You can do pumpkin pie that's low in sugar, add in a little honey or alulose or monk fruit as like a pumpkin pie that's all natural. that would be good and fine for you. But a lot of meat, a lot of things like pumpkin, a lot of squashes like butternut, acorn, and spaghetti squash,
Starting point is 00:22:33 the baked vegetables, things like a little bit of applesauce or cherries. Those are the ideal foods, okay, that you should be eating. It should be like that. A lot of soups, a lot of stews, a lot of warm herbal teas, like ginger tea or chai tea would be excellent. And then from a supplement standpoint,
Starting point is 00:22:51 I would recommend taking a prenatal vitamin you're likely already doing that. In addition, I would do, just use a lot more herbs and spices, doing some cinnamon, doing some turmeric is very good. Vitex is an herb. I recommend for a lot of women that I think they can benefit from as well. But I think if you follow that diet, I'd also recommend acupuncture. And if you sort of create that sort of warm, cozy environment where you're kind of warm and
Starting point is 00:23:17 cuddled up and that's going to help tremendously. But also think about, is there something you're not safe and secure about with your future, with your current circumstances, do your best to overcome those and also connect with God. You know, God is your ultimate provider. God is your ultimate healer. And so really spend time connecting in God's word in that way as well. Making sure you have a lot of good friends and support around. If you do that, this should help.
Starting point is 00:23:43 No, I'm praying for you as well. All right, question number eight, I need an alternative to Ritalin for my high school daughter struggling to concentrate in class. Do you have any recommendations? I do. are a type of supplement. There's a type of supplement called a nutropic. And I don't like most of the formulas because some of them have synthetic ingredients. However, there are some that I do really think are good. And here are some of the ingredients you can find in a neutropic that you can use
Starting point is 00:24:08 with a high school girl or boy. Lions main mushroom, ginkobeloba, rodeola rosea, ginseng cortiseps, piccopa, and things like phosphatylcholine and omega-3 fatty acids. Those are some of the nutrients. Now, if you're wondering, hey, what are just a few, what are the most important? I would say take an omega-3 supplement. I would typically also recommend Lyons Main and Ginkobeloba, and then I would say rodeola and cortisps, okay? But you also might do phosphatylcholine. And so it really, I would write down these. I would take several and see what you think impacts are the most positively, but those are probably the most beneficial that are a natural ridlands of replacement. And you can probably find a blend or two blends that cover most of this. Like you could probably get a blend
Starting point is 00:24:56 that has the Lions mane, the Ginko, you know, the cordyceps or some of those. It's really adaptogens and then the herbs that bring blood to the brain, that combination. That's typically what a neutropic is. And then maybe there's some B vitamins in there. And then also you might be able to find an omega-3 phosphatidyl-colin blend together for brain health. And that would also be good. So you might be able to get almost all of these things in between two supplements to maybe four that would really, really benefit her and many others. And also remember dieterally, no sugar, no added sugar, okay? Mostly a lot of meat, some vegetables, some fruit, lots of healthy fats. That should be the diet. And I think that that'll help tremendously. Next question.
Starting point is 00:25:43 It is overwhelming to know where to get quality supplements and which ones to take. Do you have a list of high quality supplements, maybe some that are third-party tested vitamin companies. What I would say is look for companies that are whole food-based. You want to look for companies that have vegetables and fruits and herbs, especially herbs, okay? Look for herbs, look for organ meats, look for the vitamins to say enzyme-activated or methylated or those sort of things along with the fruits, vegetables, probiotics, enzymes, those sort of things. You want to take food-based supplements. Those are the most natural. and typically you get what you pay for.
Starting point is 00:26:20 You know, I legally am connected to the company, ancient nutrition, okay, they do it. Now, I'm not promoting any other brands, but I just want to say here are a few brands that I know put food or real ingredients in their supplements. I'm not recommending any of these, but these are some. You know, you could look at, again, I think ancient nutrition is amazing. Longevity RX, there's Garden of Life. think there's, and I still think they do some mega food. There is standard process.
Starting point is 00:26:56 There is, I'm trying to remember the name of that other brand there. But overall, listen, listen, there are, you typically get what you pay for. Okay. I know when Jordan Rubin and I have formulated supplements and supplement brands, we've been very, very focused on bringing in food-based ingredients. And you'll notice that any product that I have ever created or, you'll, you'll notice that any product that I have ever created or taken part in creating, you will see it's got herbs, it's got organ meats, it's got methylated or enzyme activated, like literally food-based nutrients in it.
Starting point is 00:27:29 And so that is, you want to learn how to read these labels and look at these things yourself. So look for those types of brands. All right. Question number nine, this is a question from Cora. Cora, let's hear your question here. Hi, Dr. X. I know a lot of nutrition. recommend that we should be eating every three to four hours. But I'd love to hear your thoughts on
Starting point is 00:27:51 this. After listening to your views on intermittent fasting, I'd love to hear what you think about the belief that we should be eating every three to four hours. Hey, this is a great question, Corrin. This is why you'll hear me say over and over again. And my nutritional philosophy is very different than a lot of others. I really believe in a personalized diet. I think some people can benefit from intermittent fasting and a lot of people should not be intermittent fasting. I think most people could benefit from intermittent fasting a day a week as the early church did, as a lot of Jews have done throughout history for religious purposes, though there's health benefits there as well. I would say for if you're an athlete, which you are, you're very, very active, yeah,
Starting point is 00:28:33 you want to be careful with intermittent fasting. Now, when I recommend intermittent fasting for most people, what I personally recommend for most people is eating within a 10-hour window and then not eating for 14 hours, okay? But within 10 hours, you could eat at 9 a.m. You could eat at 1 o'clock and 5 o'clock. And that's actually within a 9-hour window. So I would say if you do intermittent fasting, don't do it to where you're only eating in a 4 or 6-hour window.
Starting point is 00:28:57 Open yours up to about 10 hours. But if you're very, very active, I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe you could do a 12-hour window. And basically what I would say is that if you're eating very healthy and you're very active, intermittent fasting may not be right for you. I think it's women have a harder time with it than men that are active. And so listen to your body. Your body is literally talking to you right now and telling you this is not good for you.
Starting point is 00:29:20 So I would say don't worry about the intermittent fasting par. Just focus on eating healthy. Now, I don't think snacking is good all night and first, you know, basically after dinner. I don't think that's healthy for most people. I mean, so maybe after dinner you don't eat anymore and then you eat again first thing in the morning. And I think that's probably about what's right for you. So I would make sure you're getting plenty of protein, you're getting healthy fat, you're getting plenty of carbohydrates, and then outside of that, I would not worry about the intermittent fasting. Again, for you, listen to your body. Interminton fasting is great for some people. It's not so great for others.
Starting point is 00:29:54 All right, I've got a couple more questions here. One is, what is your favorite Thanksgiving recipe? This is a tough one. I have to say my favorite is the pumpkin pie that my wife Chelsea makes. My wife, Chelsea, as a sweetener, uses honey. Okay, so we use honey as a sweetener. Outside of that, it's organic pumpkin. We make a sourdough crust, which is pretty awesome for our pumpkin pie. So sourdough crust, pumpkin pie with honey, with a lot of pumpkin pie spice in it. And that's typically what we use.
Starting point is 00:30:29 We use pastured eggs. And that is my favorite Thanksgiving recipe, followed by my wife. does a cornbread stuffing from organic cornmeal that is absolutely amazing as well. And so that we use chicken and beef sausage, a lot of celery, a lot of onions, and it's incredible. So I also, stuffing is my other favorite. So, so like for me, when it's Thanksgiving, I'm eating loads of, I'm a dark meat guy, a lot of dark meat turkey, a lot of legs. And then, and then I will do a lot of stuffing. I'll typically do some cranberry sauce. I'll do some green bean casserole. And then I'll do my pumpkin pie. That's sort of like, and by the way, I'm the person that I eat Thanksgiving meal for
Starting point is 00:31:10 the full week after. Okay, every meal I eat at breakfast, lunch, and dinner because Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love it. So, and then next question, do you have a favorite Thanksgiving family tradition? Yes, I'm glad you asked. And again, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. And listen, I love Christmas too. I love Fourth of July. I love Easter, but Thanksgiving is my favorite. So with that, here is our tradition in the Axel household what it typically looks like. Wednesday night, we start blaring the Christmas music, okay? And we start watching some sort of Christmas movie. All right.
Starting point is 00:31:47 So we do that on Wednesday night, hang out as a family, have a meal. We wake up the next morning. I tend to do a workout. Growing up, I would always do a 3K or a 5K or a 5K or a 5 mile run. There's one in Nashville called the Boulevard Bull or there's one in Belmead, but I'll tend to do a run or we'll do a quick workout in the morning, maybe a Peloton ride, something like that with the family. And then oftentimes I'll go out in the yard now with daughters and we'll kick a soccer ball. We'll spend a couple hours outside. And then I'll typically come in and help with some of the food as well.
Starting point is 00:32:22 So that's sort of the morning. We'll do a big Thanksgiving meal around lunch, watch a little football or some more Christmas movies in the afternoon. and just spend time together as a family, just watching football and movies. And then what we tend to do on that Friday is that's when us in the household, we go and we pick out our Christmas tree. So this year, Chelsea and our two daughters, we'll go and buy a real Christmas tree. We tend to buy a really big one. Now Arwin wants her own little tree.
Starting point is 00:32:48 So we'll also buy a little baby tree for her to have to decorate herself with her own little ornaments. And so we'll do that on Friday. And one other thing we tend to do is we tend to do an escape game as a family. That's another tradition we have is we try and escape the escape game. And then on Saturday, it is, I'm an Ohio State fan. It's Ohio State Michigan. It's college football. So if my dad's in town, I'll watch it with my dad or brother.
Starting point is 00:33:16 And we will spend the entire morning until about 3 o'clock 10 watching football. And then the evening, more family stuff. And then Sunday, they'll tend to deliver our Christmas tree on. on Saturday. So Sunday then, all day, we are blaring Christmas music. We are decorating the Christmas tree. And then Arwin is circling the things or talking about the things she wants, watching Christmas movies, and then back to work on Monday. But that tends to be our Thanksgiving traditions. And it's a whole thing from Wednesday all the way through Sunday of what we like to do. We tend to do church sometimes then on that Sunday morning too and then go and do the
Starting point is 00:33:54 Christmas tree. But that's what it looks like in the Axe household. And I think that there is something that is so great about having family traditions. You know, when I think about myself back as a kid, the things that I remember most, most of my memories were family traditions. I think about us boating at Norris Lake in Tennessee. I think about us going to Disney World. I think about me decorating the Christmas tree with my dad or going out and playing backyard football with the neighbors or doing those 5K runs in the morning. When I think about my family traditions, those are some of my most cherished memories of growing up. So I would say be intentional, really think about how can you make Thanksgiving and Christmas
Starting point is 00:34:32 really meaningful for you and your family and creating those family traditions.
