Hello, I'm professional broadcaster Dan McDowell, letting you know that you were about to hear one of our free podcast.
But if you'd like to subscribe at dumzone.com, you'll get four shows per week plus the weekend wrap-up and any bonus sods like our business Wednesday interviews.
So if you forgot how to use the 15-second rewind, that's dumbzone.com to subscribe.
Now, on to today's program.
J-Man, I got an email from George.
He claims his name is George.
He says our kitchen sink was backing up badly.
I'd been hearing y'all talk about PlumQuick, so I decided to give them a call.
I called right before lunch, hoping to get someone out by tomorrow.
Robert said, I can have someone there within the hour.
What?
That's what he wrote here.
He says, what?
Sure enough, Orlando came by, fixed the problem.
And because I said I wanted to sign up for the annual maintenance program,
He gave me a huge discount on the drain cleaning.
Done.
Thanks for the tip on these guys.
Feel free to use the review on the program.
So what he did was what PlumQuick says not to do.
Don't wait until water is coming through your ceiling to figure out who your plumber is.
Get that Plumquick Home Membership now.
Plumquick Company.com.
4669.
369.
You get that membership.
You'll get priority scheduling and you'll get discounts on any repairs.
But the main thing is you'll know about your issues before they become giant poop-filled problems.
It is plum-quick company.com.
Pum quick, you go home and wish it.
Keep your private nice and safe and clear.
I'll flush away.
I'll laugh at my feet with plum-clear.
Don't let poop fill up your house.
All right, hello friends.
We have to remind ourselves.
And by that, I mean me.
It's Tuesday.
Feels Monday, doesn't it?
It does.
So, do not do a program yesterday because of W.HL.
Right?
No, no, no.
W.H.L. Columbus Day turning into Indigenous People's Day as a W.H.
But they turned it back, and here's the thing.
It was an off day when it was Columbus Day forever, right?
So you were getting lazy day?
That's, to me, the most W. H.L. thing ever is being off work.
Did they turn it back?
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's now called Columbus Day because on my Apple doesn't know.
Well, you can, it'll say both if you.
My iPhone.
You have to turn off woke.
Yeah.
I have the, you know, you can turn on certain things.
The woke lens or whatever.
So I think I got the woke lens on because it told me it was indigenous people's day.
And then I was looking at it saying, this is why.
This is why.
It's, you worried about name and shit.
You worried about, uh, uh, the, uh, the, uh,
Oh, you can't call to master bedroom.
All right.
What about the, we get the rent down or something.
Ah!
Ah!
Well, my question is like...
Yeah, you can't say gay.
Yeah, what if you...
How indigenous do they have to be to be indigenous?
You know, I mean, like, how far back do we have to go?
Right.
It's your thing of everywhere we go, it's somebody.
Yeah.
That's the thing.
That is the thing.
It's like, okay, stuff happened in the past.
Don't be mad to me because I was the last one of the cookie jar.
Yeah.
Well, anyway, here we are.
Here is not the Game Day Men's Health Studio.
Do love some Game Day men's health, though.
Gameday.com.
I can tell you the one thing that makes it not feel like a Monday,
and that's that there's not going to be any football tonight.
That might have been the best game of the year last night.
That was electric.
You're two and three mates, the Los Angeles Rams.
Ah, okay.
There you go. That's right. It's not no time to panic, right?
Me drinking.
You're basically the...
I'm sorry doing.
Look at this guy. He drank double than I did.
But who'd they lose to?
No, we're high atop my garage today, broadcasting live to tape.
Probably some kind of an Argyal reason, but I like it.
How are the boys doing?
Great.
How do we do Friday?
Do you teach Todd a lesson?
Yeah, dismantled Todd Dodge and the Lovejoy Leopards.
Do you have any, like, ironic dodge balls?
signs. That's fun. Oh, dodge ball. I guess we ducked that one. I guess we got out of the way.
We caught that dodge ball. Eliminate elimination games.
Anyway, no, we're here high atop my garage. Ready to embark on four consecutive days of doing a program.
I don't think we can do it. No one does.
We simply have no choice, but to put one foot in front of the other. Mike Reiner used to say eyes on the shoulder blades of the man in front of you.
That was one of his sayings that I always
Like that makes sense man
We do have a sit-in and it may eventually
Make it more than one sit-in
That'll be the plural of that
But it is going to be the guys
From one of our new sponsors
Realestate.com
It's a three-headed monster
They have three small businesses
And they've formed together
to become one, not as small business, but still a small business, right?
So we have Brian Evans, who is in charge of Qualis Roofing.
We love him.
Love Brian all these years.
The scene of the crime of the one mushroom sandwich.
True.
We have Chris Hallman.
He's here right now.
Chris, you know him from stalking Blake in his softball endeavors,
secretly taping him throughout a whole season.
Investigative reporting is more what I call it.
Oh, okay.
I just thought, though, let's say this guy's doing some real estate stuff for you.
He's on it.
The detail.
He is going to be.
It will be attention paid to it.
He is going to embed himself into your situation and not rest until.
He's not going to one game for your real estate deal.
And then Logan Verrett, speaking of games, he is a major league, a former Major League
Baseball player, not a lot of current Major League Baseball.
players would be in this group.
Well, there was a time.
We would think.
What do you mean?
Well, you know, that's probably one of the biggest changes in American sports in the last
hundred years.
My neighbor who played in the NFL had a job.
Like, I think he was in commercial real estate.
Off season, I'm going to go sell a few houses.
Yeah.
Arm wrestle.
Anyway, you might be saying, well, what exactly is real estate.
com, does it?
Tune into closing remarks.
And you're going to get a snoot full.
All of your home.
Are you ready to fill snoots?
Chris Hallman?
Yeah, we can give it a shot.
Oh, okay.
Chris Hallman's got radio voice, too.
He does.
Yeah.
That's right.
Not homeless, though.
Not homeless radio voice.
You into a home.
Hotter than a homeless.
He's also kind of hot.
So, yeah, that's what we're doing today.
I have a lot of sports to get into.
You when you take three days off in a row.
Oh, my gosh.
There's a lot of sports to get into.
We have a lot of non-sports.
Will we get into it?
Stay tuned.
But I will just throw out three topics that we could get into that are non-sports.
Walt Jr. dead.
The age of 34.
That hurts.
Yeah, that hurts.
Shane Gillis, controversial monologue.
It wasn't.
Mare.
I missed it.
And Kelly Clarkson versus a little store in Brooklyn.
Can we send a reporter?
Yeah, we should.
Because I saw a guy.
I saw, they're probably already.
Yeah, that's the thing.
Somebody went yesterday and filmed something.
It was funny that I saw showing up at some closing store in Brooklyn that big-time Kelly Clarkson.
It's got to be great for the store, right?
Oh, my God.
Even if they did big-timer.
Because there's going to be enough people that don't like Kelly Clarkson.
All right, I'll go.
It's New York.
That's like their crowd.
You know?
Yeah.
She did them a giant favor.
Oh, no, don't sue us.
It's going all back and forth.
That's fun.
But huge, huge Cowboys news, a lot to get into.
We could start it all off with a weekend check.
And this could be brought to us by Atlas Foundation Company.
That's one of our new sponsors as well.
But they're a foundation company.
that has been in business for 68 years.
Come on, man.
Let's get one more at least.
Let's get over that hump.
But I think they will.
So they're not the fly-by-night type thing.
And Kyler, the dude at the helm there,
will come out, give you the estimate himself.
They don't employ sales guys.
They're going to, you know, kind of just shoot you straight.
He shoots us straight, saying most of his work is the Tarrant County
area and generally he would charge a fee for even going out to give an estimate in Dallas
County.
But he will waive that for anybody that wants to get their foundation looked at out in Dallas
County.
If you're a dumb zone listener, just mention that when you give them a call or go to their
website and get a free foundation inspection.
So if you suspect you have problems, why not give them a call?
817-672-9950.
The website, where you can book that free inspection, is Atlas Foundation.
Foundation Inc.com.
I've had Kyler out to my house, had his crews out to my house to do the work.
Trust them.
It's an old house, so I feel they'll probably be back.
I trust them for the duration with my home at Atlas Foundation Inc.com.
Atlas Foundation repair.
No sales team, just a family that cares.
Atlas Foundation repair.
Strong 658.
All right.
we have decided to split up the weekend check.
We'll do a couple of weekend checks after the break,
and we will do two to start the show here,
because there's too much sports today.
Got to get into it quicker.
But I will start the weekend check with sports-adjacent material.
So I found myself in the orbit of something
that you kind of hear about.
And your favorite sports talk radio stations,
they bill themselves as the,
this is their Atlas Foundation.
This is what they're built upon.
And it is sports arguments.
Okay.
Just classic sports arguments.
For instance, you have Pete Rose,
I don't know, I think he should be in the Hall of Fame.
Right, one that challenges the ethics of the game.
Everyone knows.
But that was posted in every clubhouse.
gambler...
But he didn't bet on his own game.
He didn't ever bet against it.
Isn't that the ultimate winner?
Doesn't that just make him more of a competitor?
I mean, what kind of a Hall of Fame
can have its all-time hits leader just not even be in there?
One that requires that the guys exhibit excellence.
How about...
Did you enjoy...
Well, if Barry had that offensive line.
I mean, right?
Dude.
He'd probably have 300 yards a game.
Barry versus Emmett.
I can't think of that one without thinking of Bob, Gordon, Barry Sanders at Ticket Stock, though.
So that kind of got ruined for me or exemplified forever.
And coming up after the break, the top five Halloween candies.
Well, that's not.
Best era of Big 12 football.
So I found myself shopping for some new shoes this weekend.
Why didn't you call me?
What do you mean?
I just feel like I'm a guy who's close to you and I can help you.
Just make sure you don't make any bad decisions that your daughters make fun of.
He doesn't trust you anymore.
Did you get those sweet new balance?
No, he's done better lately, but...
Can I make a mistake if I'm just buying Nike?
I'm kind of going Nike only.
I mean, I am a slave to their slaves, so I'm always going to approve Nike, but I just...
Your colors.
Did you wear out the brown shoes?
I mean, I got the Cleveland Brown shoes.
Yes, I have kind of worn them out.
He's boycotting Deshawn.
Yeah.
Yeah, as Girl Dad, you should.
That's right.
Okay, I just worry that you get, sometimes you get a little crazy with the colors,
and it looks like you bought like a lollipop.
And it's hard to...
Well, I'm glad I didn't have the one I was looking at in my size then, because...
Okay.
I thought you wanted to, you're all rainbow-ish, right?
Sure.
You support that.
You just have an aesthetic that I need to help you keep, so, okay.
Well, anyway, I didn't buy shoes, but...
You heard an argument.
Yeah, I walked into a middle of a sports argument,
and it kept going and going and going.
Do you want to guess?
Where were you?
Give me a little bit of clues.
The Nike Outlet store in the mall.
Like the secondary Nike.
There's like a Nike store, and then there's like a, hey, these Nike's are a little cheaper maybe.
Luca or Cooper Flag.
Luca or Cooper Flag.
You're on the right track.
Let me take you to the Nike Outer.
outlet store. So then I just sat there and now I'm holding my phone like this. Excellent.
Like I'm on the little seat where you try on shoes. Now, did these guys wonder, why is this guy like not moving for 10 minutes?
Go Mitch McConnell.
Like so I was like, yeah, I was trying on one shoe and I'd kind of like pull the laces a little bit and then I'd take it off. But I didn't want to get up because I would like to offer the observation.
most people in my experience are so slow and plotting that you just do that nobody's going to notice.
Yeah.
I really think most people are not in a hurry.
Well, these people weren't.
They had a, well, the argument was going on well before I got there, but I sat down.
I'm like, wow, it's like a sports talk radio host dream.
I'm in the middle of this argument.
I'm just going to start recording right away.
How fast can I start recording?
And so here, let me take you to the second I could start recording.
You ready?
I'm not afraid when you took the shot.
I mean, I'll lose another one.
Just save Mike.
I mean, it's awesome.
So we're dropped in the middle.
So this obviously started with like,
LeBron doesn't have any game winning shots.
Right.
Well, Michael Jordan had to pass it to Steve Kerr a game.
See, old folks live on a stonager.
Right?
Don't watch the game.
You know what crazy is?
If you were 40,
when Jordan won his first head and it should how old we?
Okay, so now we're, yeah,
We're now arguing, well, it's just, you just weren't the right age when you're watching.
And ammunition's playing in the background.
Hey, let me tell you how bad it was.
In McGrath, they cheered for Mike for the top 75.
They cheered for Mike like it was his hometown in Cleveland.
Like, we've been, we've been into this for a good 10 minutes at least.
Yeah, the song changed.
So, yeah, oh, yeah.
So we're now pulling out.
Look, I've been holding on to this one.
His own hometown cheered for Michael Jordan.
At the NBA.
75.
When was that?
Was Anthony Davis' bit?
Okay, if you could go back in time, it's any dump in person.
Any dumb.
Any dunk?
So, yeah, this guy's hypothetical.
That's a great hypothetical.
No, it's not.
It's not hypothetical.
Okay, if you could go back in time, it's any dump in person.
Any dump.
Even, like, don't.
Yeah, even.
I'm talking about dump.
I got probably to argue.
Because I think we were now arguing, we shift.
it into the dunk contest.
What's yours?
And Michael...
Vince Carter Elbow.
Vince Carter Elbow.
To me, it's DeAndre Jordan Duncan over Brandon Knight.
I want the one that has become like the most viewed Mabbs meme, that one where...
Father Stretch My Hands is playing.
Yeah.
Toss it up.
Yeah.
Remember Luca?
Anyway, it felt great.
Yeah, it's a look.
I'm like, I am...
This is America.
This is what I'm...
This is what I'm all about.
It's like the bar room.
You know, that's the whole thing.
If you're in sports talk radio, they tell you, you know, you want to be like it's a conversation in the bar.
And maybe we'll change that to we're trying to have a conversation like you would in a shoe store.
And then I have one dilemma in my house that goes to my theory that you should move every five years.
And I like the five-year chunk.
The 10-year might be the chunk.
Like, just for different things.
You should probably have a marriage contract.
Maybe it's a, you know, both sides have to sign off on it every five years.
Just make sure.
And then year four, you know, you're going to be at the gym.
You're going to be kind of acting a little nicer, perhaps.
Maybe.
Or maybe if you want out of it, yeah, then you just...
You act like Marvin Harrison, Jr.
Right.
What a return.
Anyway, so this dilemma is it started a couple of weeks ago when I woke up at 4 in the morning to like a chirp.
And it's the hallway smoke alarm.
And I woke up because it's really bothering the dogs.
And they wake me up.
And now I hear the chirp.
What is that?
It's probably nothing.
And then it's nothing.
It's nothing.
because now it's 30 seconds, 45.
I'm falling back a slip.
Oh, there's a chirp.
God damn it.
And then you get up.
Where is it coming?
You know?
Is it downstairs?
So now you've got to stand.
And then you go, okay, I think it's over there.
And then you go walk over there.
Yeah, yeah, that's it.
Well, now I don't know what to do.
And it turns out when we moved in,
and it's like, I think 12, maybe 13 years ago.
It's been a while.
We installed these smoke alarms, which said they were good for 10 years.
And it doesn't, it's not a re, you don't interchange the battery.
You just unscrew this thing and throw it all away.
Well, that's hard to do too because it doesn't stop chirping.
You go bash it with a hammer.
So I took it in my car to Home Depot.
Office space.
And it's just chirping throughout.
I ended up throwing it outside.
under the basketball hoop in the driveway?
You might have heard it.
It might have been chirping when you guys were leaving the other night
from the game.
But I threw it outside because it was bothering me in the car
and I figured, okay, next garbage day,
I'll throw it into the garbage, but it's over here.
So it's just outside chirping.
Why don't you, like, run it over or something?
Well, I don't know.
That seems aggressive.
Why?
I don't know.
Destroy your TV.
I don't want it to die.
Get rid of it.
What do we don't want it to die?
He's got a soul.
Oh, my God.
Anyway.
For real, like just this thing, chirp, just bashed with a hammer.
Another one woke me up last night.
The point is, my whole house, number one, got the 10-year thing.
They passed 10 years.
Thumbs up.
But number two, now I'm going to have to go around the whole house.
And I found out, too, whoever the F did this, I had nothing to do with it.
apparently we have different
every fire
alarm or a smoke
detector is different
they didn't buy the same one for all of them
so now
and by the way
this effing
it's like called kitty or something
K-I-D-E this company
that we bought this particular one from
I feel like they've had a tough
half decade
not that kind
so you have to like
screw in a bracket thing and then you screw
screw in the thing to it.
Well, of course, in the past 10 years,
do you think they still offer that size bracket?
No, they offer...
Well, that one was 5.3 inches.
This one's 5.1.
Yeah.
Okay, now I can go buy a...
You know, 10 new ones at this...
But, like I said,
whoever did this originally,
they're all different sizes anyway.
Like, none of the...
I don't know how they did this.
One of them does do 9-volt batteries.
one of them is it's i i think it might be better if uh i just let wire will work on my place and burn my house down
can i interject
maybe maybe i'm here for a reason and we should talk about selling this place
i'm always willing to listen okay i think um you may have already figured this out
this would have been a great time for a i this is what i use that for because what if you take the
thing off and take a picture of it, it might tell you
actually there's like 10 different ones that
would work on this one, take a picture of all of them.
I mean, dude, when I'm doing anything that involves
tools now, I'm going right
to the robot. And it's
like you need this size, you need this thing,
and I go to the store and I buy exactly. It's never
failed me. You know,
not having a dad's
not the limitation it used to be.
That is true.
Or was it on purpose?
I'm pretty sure how to tie a tie in
On YouTube guys got a fucking mansion in Hawaii.
That thing's got like 18 million views or something.
Yeah.
He's a leader of men.
Anyways.
Yeah, but what if they're all different because they didn't want to be going off all at the same time?
Like, I still wonder, like, why does one headlight go out and the other one doesn't?
If they're the same bowl putting it at the same time, why don't they burn out at the same time?
But I always thought that that was on purpose.
You want to go out one in time.
It is funny how...
That's an old joke.
And maybe it's just because I...
I don't use my blinker.
I am not a man.
But it does feel to me like my smoke detectors turn into ventriloquists
when I need to locate them in my house.
Like, how are you throwing your voice?
I'll be like three rooms wrong.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's what I said.
When you're standing in the hall waiting the 45 seconds
and you're like, okay, I think it was over there.
And then you go over there.
Not a military guy.
Wait, no, I don't think it's as loud this time.
So I'm going to go over there.
I'd be so dead.
That is the official stance of trying to find the smoke detector, though,
just in the hall, kind of break down, like, where are we at?
Oh, feet or shoulder width apart.
Yeah.
My hands are balanced.
I can move one way or the other at a moment's, I'm ready to go.
It's 4.15 in the morning.
While we're here, I'll just not.
Oh, naked.
I don't wear it close to bed.
So now here I'm not.
intruder, you got to be ready.
It really, it's gotten a little bit better, but I guess you can't complain beggars and choosers
and the like, but there was about a 50% hit rate on my wife cooking dinner and forgetting
to turn the stove vent on.
So, hey, we're having a nice time.
Here's Leon Bridges' new album, soothing, and she's got her wine, her little exact scene
that she wants.
And then, beep, beep, beep, beep, boom.
I'm like autistic daughters crying.
Yeah, now that I'm buying, now that I'm shopping for a new one, they now have them that say,
like it's made to not recognize the stove as much or something.
I don't know how it does that.
But how many, have you ever stood under it, like waving a magazine trying to wave the-
Within the month.
The air, yeah.
For the first time you turn the heater on and it like burns off all that dust and you think
your house is about to catch on fire?
Yep.
I love that smell, though.
Before we move to Blake's weekend check, we quick hit Trident Garage Doors, Trident Access Services, actually.
It's not just garage doors.
Well, I know they installed a gate down the street from us, and I saw that gate open early this morning.
It was very, very exciting to know that they do the gates and that it's still working three weeks later.
Gates have come a long way, like mayonnaise.
What do you mean?
Well, they have so many different types now.
You know, they really do.
Name a couple.
Swinging ones, sliding ones, rod iron.
I don't know.
They have like the pocket ones where it's like, where'd the gate go.
I've seen some of those on the TXTritinat.com site.
On the Trident, they mentioned that they do glass garage doors.
I have yet to see one of those.
See like a mirrored one?
Those are wild.
They do all that.
All of it.
Let your imagination run wild.
or just get your normal garage door service, maybe get it weatherized.
TX Trident.com 81751212.1212, 1212.
It is a veteran-known company, first responder-owned company.
They'll take care of you on time.
TXTridant.com is the website.
How come nobody, you know how they had the mirrored buildings downtown?
Mm-hmm.
What if you mirrored your house?
There's a house.
Your whole house is mirrored.
Not too far from my house, and they did the garage.
And it's the whole front of the house.
It's really trippy.
So you drive by it?
Yeah.
And like, check your hair.
Whoa.
Yeah.
Are they, do you think it's like a police mirror and they're on the other side of it looking at you?
That sounds pretty fun.
Anyway, ask Trident if they could do that.
Give you a police mirror.
Hey, hypothetically, if I would just wanted to watch people without them knowing.
That was a funny.
And then you could put a shower and you could just shower while you're watching.
Everybody walked by.
TXTridant.com.
All right, Blake Jones always has a banger, a weekend check.
I like to build it up real big.
Yeah, I wish you didn't.
Let's see.
Thursday night did the Cowboys game with Burline.
That was fun having him in studio.
Taking him to the game hanging out.
That was.
That was fun.
It was fun when Ted Emrick said maugging to him,
and he didn't remember we told him about.
We told him about mogging in studio.
He seems awesome, dude.
Yeah, he is.
He's fun to be around.
Awesome guest, just seems kind of like a regular dude, but he knows he's famous.
He is.
Great guy.
Sod was asking him, because in the press area, there's always like little mini-sized candy bars,
and they didn't have any snickers.
So, Saad was like, man, I was kind of hoping to get snickers with my steak tonight,
and Steve didn't bite for it.
But see, the thing is that he doesn't know that's an odd thing.
I know, I know, but we're trying to, anyway, drop little nuggets here and there.
Did he enjoy his time with us?
You don't know.
Do you?
He just, on to the next thing for him.
Yeah, I'm sure it's just the next thing.
Friday night after the show had a game at Argyll.
We had, we did a double broadcast because we had a big volleyball game that evening.
And I think I, if, if, if,
I could charge for being on the phone with another guy trying to set up an Argyl broadcast, I'd be rich.
So he's having issues.
I'm at the football stadium.
I run over to the auditorium or the gymnasium, get that fixed, run back, and we were
able to pull it off.
But anyway, busy Friday night at Argyll.
And then Saturday, I pulled off a trifecta in a weird order because I went NFL Thursday,
high school Friday, and Saturday I did the Texas OU game.
Jesus.
Oh, wow.
Who is the broadcast?
So hit my trifecta.
Play-by-play was Bill Jones, and color was Tiki Warper.
I just found out that Bill Jones does like a little 10- or 15-minute show was shoddy.
Yeah, they'll put it on the Cowboys' website.
Yeah, it's very generic.
Yeah, it's very generic.
I watch it, though, just see if there's anything there.
They just recap the last game or something.
I've worked a team.
But he seems like a fine guy.
Yeah, I've worked with Tiki before.
He's great.
I enjoyed my time with Bill.
I think you guys are unfair to him.
That's, I've never been...
When the Blue Star does preseason games, I can't believe.
You guys have to attack him the way you have.
Headed to the game...
That's what I do.
We were warned to not park at the fair.
And so I thought really my only way down there was the dart.
And so that's what I did.
TextDOT is still alive.
I like to park at the Game Day Men's Hell Studio.
That would have been...
Well, and then I, yeah, hop on the thing.
The sign headed to the game, go orange, go white, go speed limit.
Yeah, I saw that one, thought of you.
Text a later, not sooner, phones down.
All right.
Don't know.
I thought we were...
How about stop reading this?
I thought we were done.
You should be looking at the road.
I thought we were done with this.
The dart trains were insane.
They had to run shuttles from dart stops to Fair Park.
And so I was not able to get on one of the trains.
So we had to get on the bus, and it's all just students and fans going to the game.
And the Dart employees were trying to get in on the fun because we all had to scan our pass, sit down.
And then once the bus was loaded, the guy was like, who's going to win today?
Texat!
I can't hear you.
Texas!
And then he just got the bus all pumped up and ready to go.
And it was electric.
It was fun.
Getting to the game was such a beating, though.
And getting out was worse.
The game itself is incredible.
and it's the Cotton Bowl.
There's a ton of history
and seeing the stadium split,
which is cool, obviously, from a color standpoint,
but then I was interested in, like,
oh, you had a pick six.
And this side of the stadium is going nuts,
and arms are waving, and it's just chaos,
and then the other side is just completely still.
Oh, it's awesome.
It's amazing to see it.
Is there another game like that?
I don't know if it's just home...
Like in college football?
I think it's the best rivalry
in college sports,
Maybe it's just based on where we are location.
I mean, everybody in the Midwest tells you Michigan, Ohio State, et cetera, but neutral field, though.
That's what I mean.
Yeah.
Is there a field set up like that where the stadium is half and half and it looks so cool?
I don't think so.
It was unreal.
Walking up to the stadium, I thought was funny because I heard two different conversations
end with, well, it's got water in it because you're trying to hydrate.
No, you're trying to hydrate.
trying to hydrate and these people are drinking high noons at 9 a.m.
And they're like, well, it's got water in it.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
No, there was a number of different tricks.
You know, a brewery would come out with something they called like their breakfast beer.
It would taste kind of like honeynut Cheerios.
And you're like, all right, well, I mean, it's breakfast.
It's got a bunch of grain in it.
What's in bread, you know, basically just having biscuits.
You see any fights?
No fights.
It's a big weekend.
to Peru's Dallas, Texas
TV and the like.
Texas OU weekend, you always get a big
A flood of fights.
From Deep Ellum.
Are you just trying to warn me
to stay away from Deep Ellum?
You're like my dad now.
I just want you to be...
The dad I never really had.
I want you to be aware of the world.
And I'm certainly not like Fox News
guy telling you that it's
bad to go to any city.
But your idea for a bit of
let's take TC and trade down to
deep element dust on a weekend and interact with the people, I just was trying to set the
parameters for what...
I just don't know if you would have ever met the leprechaun.
Those are some...
Yeah.
We went down some streets that I could have seen you warning us not to.
I would tell you that I've been down...
Well, we don't need to do this.
But at your own risk is all I say.
I'd like to play flags with Dan.
I feel like this was a bit that we tried to do sometimes.
ago.
Fire up that flag, Clayton.
Let's let Dan play.
Are these state flags?
Yeah, this is a state flag.
Any idea what this state flag could be?
That you see a green, a blue background.
Looks like kind of a big pine tree or something, right?
I mean, it's native code.
It's indigenous code.
Yeah, you got the Indian feathers hanging from what turns out to be a buffalo shield,
an olive branch, and a piece pipe.
This is, of course, the state flag of Oklahoma.
Oh, okay.
That was displayed in pregame.
That's a pretty sick flag.
It is a cool flag, but yeah.
Okay, now I will know if I see it, because I saw a guy this weekend in a Colorado flag on his shirt, and I knew it.
The Colorado one is, maybe it's just Texas bias, but I feel like that one's famous.
But I got to tell you, I've never seen the flag you just showed me in my life.
I didn't think so either, but now it makes so much.
The state I was in twice the last week.
It makes sense.
No clue.
So the game, I don't know if you guys saw the beginning of the game.
The game was delayed by a few minutes because they forgot to put the pylons out.
I couldn't, I didn't know what it was.
I was looking at my phone and kept saying delayed.
We had no idea what was going on because we were ready for kick.
There was no slide for TV.
We're ready to rock.
And then we're standing around and the teams get, you know, back to their sidelines.
And we cannot figure out what's going on.
Kevin.
Ref Mike wasn't working.
That's where Bill Jones and Tiki Barber just do their match.
They did fun.
They did great. They did great. They filled admirably.
And then, yeah, come to find out.
What's Ronde like?
We had people running out with the pylons.
We'd forgotten those in pregame.
It's very funny. There's a video of running him out onto the field.
It's great. It's very funny.
But all the pomp and circumstance before the games, the bands and this and that.
There was a flyover.
Everyone's pumped up and ready to go.
And we can't start because of these orange things are not set.
That is a very funny reminder of how silly.
this all. This too. The Cotton Bowl
is iconic and it just dawned on me that we just named it after cotton.
TC and I had this conversation last night
trying to defend America
and Texas in the South a little bit. I mean
you don't think they were slaves picking sugar cane and oranges.
Oh, I know. But it's just like we had this stadium. I don't know.
The cotton pickers in southern Texas.
What's awesome right now? You're like, yeah, we're
Cotton.
We're all white here.
This is what we've done.
It becomes trickier when you learn about, like, that book I read on the Dallas Texans,
they failed because they wanted to try to integrate the cotton bowl and the whites were not having it.
It was one of the last public stadiums to integrate.
So, you know, it's called the Cotton Bowl.
On one hand, you're like, oh, no, it's just cotton.
And then the other hand.
Yeah.
plantation stadium is...
What do you want to call it? They picked the cot?
Getting out of the state fair,
massive beating. Did you do anything there?
No. Did you eat a corn dog?
No. Make out a bearded lady?
No. Did you throw the ball and press the girls?
No, the only thing I honestly tried to do is find the
half man, but I couldn't find
him. I think that's a great bit.
I'm unfamiliar with the half man.
He's a man from his top half, but his bottom
half is normally like a
like a cane or something
a cane
he's a half a man
it's the only top half of a guy
but I don't
I don't know how they do it
it's just like a stick for his lower
half so is it like a stump man
like
it's just a psych to behold
all right I guess I'm unfamiliar with the half man
maybe I'm not
and you couldn't find him I'm not calling it the right thing
it's hard to find a half a man
but he's normally got a hat on
and he's pointing, talking to people.
And my God, where's the lower half of this, dude?
This guy.
Look at him.
How's he doing that?
All right.
I want to know.
Me too.
If you could see him in person.
I couldn't find him.
Anyway, so the game was at 2.30.
I got home at 10.30.
It was nuts.
I got enough state fair to me for one day or for one year.
Sunday had a birthday party.
No days off around here.
A listener birthday party?
Yeah, listener birthday party.
Brooks knew the drill.
He was like, hey, we got a birthday party.
Where?
Metroplex gymnastics and Allen.
Okay, I've got socks for that.
Here we go.
He knows the bit.
When we get there, oh, this is the place.
You get 30 minutes in here, 30 minutes in here, then you eat for 30.
That's right.
Go, you get 30 minutes.
But we're now at the point now with a one-year-old, who is, I guess, 13 months now.
He's also invited to the parties.
Because I'm tired of just holding him on the side.
He's now in it.
And this is the younger kid where if he's one, he's doing, he's other, he's other, he's at other one-year-old's birthday parties, which is nothing.
But now my one-year-old is at an eight-year-old birthday party.
So I'm throwing him in the ball pit.
He's walking around the gymnasium.
Like he is doing things that other one-year-olds are not doing.
This is how younger kids become better athletes.
Oh, they're younger brother.
Yeah.
It's just, it's so obvious to watch it happen.
It's working in this room.
My brother was a good athlete.
Dude, even like Dominic says it about.
about the younger's, deuce's younger brothers.
That's scary.
Yeah, but that's like, you know, I'm pretty sure
Steph Curry's a younger and Clay Thompson's a younger.
Like, even that it works out.
Wasn't Michael Irvin the 12th youngest?
Yeah.
Dude, it's so obvious watching my son
that he just has, you know.
And your daughter did beat on him pretty good, as I recall.
And, I mean, it's natural when, you know,
When I had Brooks at his age, I was very careful.
You didn't really know, like, yeah, how delicate they are.
But with Benny, like, I'm tossing him into the ball pit and throwing the foam at him.
Yeah.
It's wild how much that seems to, I mean, I don't know how much it changes behavior.
It's all nature and nurture, but the impact on your personality that people not being so concerned about your well-being as on you.
Yeah.
Like, not in a negative way.
Like, then it allows you to.
explore more and just, I don't know.
I'll tell you something else. I was very upset
at what my brother did
with his athleticism.
Because he was just into
climbing and skiing
and like, I'm like, dude, if I
like he won, whatever, they don't do it anymore,
I don't think, the presidential
little champions. Fitness Award.
Yeah. Where I'm in like the bottom
10% certainly of the school.
You have to run shuttles. Did you do this
Blake? No.
So back in the old day,
back in the olden days, like FDR put this in place for me, I believe.
But you had to like run shuttles, then you had to do as many push-ups as you could in a minute,
and then as many pull-ups, and then can you climb the rope, and then sit up, same thing, all of that.
And he won it for the whole school, so however many, 500,000 kids, I don't know.
And yeah, he didn't like team sports.
He just didn't, and I was like, this is a waste.
What are you doing with all this talent?
Yeah.
Why, I beat you up for this so you could go rock climbing or skiing?
So you can get Harry Poon.
Yeah.
A Meyer.
And then my final thing.
That is at the end of that rainbow, isn't it?
So with Monday, that was Brooks's fifth birthday.
And so I had two experiments kind of come to Roos, the first being, what do we do for the kid who's been to 25 birthday parties this year?
So we had a little trouble with that
We settled on laser tag
Pretty sick man
So he's obviously into shooters
And he's done all the gymnastics places
And all that first birthday
So we got us cousins together
And we played laser tag
In the second experiment
It was the kid is really into Halo
And in shooters
And so when I strap him up
With the laser tag get up and hand him his gun
He all of a sudden doesn't want to play
Like I don't want you to shoot me
You know?
I don't want you to kill me.
And so that was like, no, look, it's fake.
It's just, it's not bullets.
It's not going to hurt you.
That goes the opposite of what you would hear.
Yeah, that's a school shooter.
It's because they're playing these damn video games.
This kid plays video games, but he's like, no, no, no.
I mean, yeah, he thinks I'm going to shoot him and teebag him.
He's not worried about death.
He's worried about getting poned.
Right.
So, yeah, I had to just come look at it.
Just, no, no, no.
I know.
Look, just for one second, come look.
Oh, look, everyone's having it.
And then, you know, it's one step at a time.
Just get them in the door.
Then they'll see.
And then we ended up having a great time.
You got to try paintball at some point.
We'll get there.
He loved laser tag.
So, yeah, that's the next step.
I really thought it was going to take off big time.
But when I got involved in it, it was one of my dad, I was probably like nine or ten, and it was Qzar.
There was a place called QZar.
I think it came from Florida.
and it was insanely expensive, but it was so badass.
You ever play that?
No.
Clayton?
So, laser tag, because then they started to try selling them at home, like those little, these
were like, had like tracers on them.
And they were, you had a full pack and it was like a rifle.
It wasn't a handgun.
And inside they had, you know, basically they had a capture the flag type set up.
and you had to advance to the other person's, like, base and shoot out this spider thing.
It was on the ceiling.
So there were, like, missions.
It was bad ass, but it was, like, $32 a game for, like, 20 or 30.
But it was super advanced, super high-tech, and I guess it just wasn't sustainable.
Because then they started doing, like, the knockoff versions of it that you see everywhere.
They have them at Andretti's, DaVamette.
But I would do, we were so into it.
I thought that was the future.
Well, it was fun.
While Brooks was opening presents, he got a PJ set from somebody,
and I thought you guys might like the line from my father-in-law.
He opens up the PJs, and he's like, it's a video game thing or whatever.
My father-in-law goes, all right, now you're ready to go shop at Walmart.
Nice.
Hell yeah.
Nice.
I like that.
The kids will just wear PJs to Walmart, you know.
And then finally, what happens?
What happened to Oreo?
The women will too.
What happened to Oreos?
There used to be cream in the middle.
Uh-oh.
Is this shrink flation?
I'm not familiar with this.
What are you talking about?
No, he's right.
I used to unscrew the Oreo, just eat the chocolate one, save the cream.
We're all familiar with this.
The double stack.
But it's now the double stack is your normal size.
Yeah.
It used to be bigger.
The double stuff used to be kind of hard to eat the whole thing in one bite.
Yeah.
No, they did a, they did like a reverse.
I want to know what happened to Oreos.
It's the same thing that happened to everything.
How much is cream?
Add it up.
A little less cream on every cookie.
A guy with a moniker gets another coin in his pocket.
This used to be a decent place to live.
But everybody got excited when they announced double stuff.
But that was really a op for them to eventually reduce the size of the regular cookie
and then basically make the regular cookie the double.
stuff charge you more for it.
Should have seen it coming.
No, Oreos are a joke now.
A joke!
Yeah, I'm gonna ride off.
I feel like that's a bridge too far, dude.
Don't clip this, Henry.
They used to be a treat.
No, you need to clip it.
I don't want to break a taint on Oreo, dog.
This needs to gain awareness.
I don't care if we break in taint on this.
We're on the right side of history here, brother.
Yeah.
I can't, I fucking do the chip bags get me.
That's the most old man thing ever, but I buy, we buy a lot of chips, dude.
Buying air.
Let me tell you.
Yeah, you are buying air.
You don't want to start.
doing the cost for chip.
You're buying a nice smelly. Yeah.
Sucks.
Hell yeah.
All right.
Let's get to sports today.
Brought to us by,
oh, how about this?
We brought to us by Foreign Direct.
FlooringDirect, DFW.com slash DZ.
Email from Ryan.
The nicest, we've got the best prices at Floor Ring Direct.
Who says, my wife and I,
had been putting off getting new flooring upstairs for a couple years,
because it sounded like a hassle.
Went to flooring direct, defw.com slash dZ.
We got almost immediate response to schedule our in-home consultation.
It was outstanding.
Salesperson was helpful, not pushy, gave us a quote within 30 minutes.
We didn't seek a second quote,
considering what I knew about the five-star installation
that I heard you guys explain on countless occasions.
My wife and I erroneously figured,
given the size of the job,
removal of both tile and carpet, the install would take a week or more wrong.
It started on a Monday by Tuesday afternoon.
We had brand new SPC flooring, just two days.
Even though Flooring Direct Showroom is only 15 minutes from our house,
we would have never called them, much less contracted with them,
with no other quotes.
If not for the Dumb Zone and the other Dumb Zone testimonials we have heard,
we will use them for future work in our home.
That is from Ryan.
Oh, he says maybe what I shared could get me a good dude
from Jake.
That's a tough one.
That's a tough nut to crack,
getting a good dude from Jake.
But we do appreciate you going to flooring direct.com slash dZ.
You could also call them at 972-449-9457.
It is New Floor Sisson.
And don't forget about the 36-month,
0% free financing bit flooring direct.
Their pros are the nicest.
They've got the best prices.
it's flooring direct
from the wonderful world of sports
radio sports
scoreboard
oh yeah I like that
man
all right
there's no problems
number one I need you to know that
this this is not a
this is not a thing that's a problem
me and my wife
we've been doing this this is a hey
listen this is fine
no no no you don't hold on
Let me get ahead of it.
I'm having flashbacks to my parents divorcing here.
No, no, no, this is not a problem at all.
We were going to hire Mike Petten anyway.
We've been trying to do it for a while, and he just got back from,
I listened to the Shoddy Press Conference.
I'm only going to play one thing, but I'm just trying to give you a synopsis here.
Everything's fine.
We've been talking to him for quite some time.
I mean, he was the first name we wanted to call and couldn't get anything together.
we had a couple other guys we were interested in.
Not going to tell you.
Not going to reveal that information for you.
But I just want you to know, like this is not a thing.
You're like, this is not, you guys are all like, oh,
we were going to hire him anyway.
This is all part of the plan.
That's right.
We wanted to get five weeks in before bringing someone to say,
I mean, he's just a kind of guy that's going to do this.
All right.
So you got a, let's say you have 21 yards to get to field go range to win a game with only eight seconds left.
He's the kind of guy that's going to say, what if I had my guy standing 20 yards from the line of scrimmage where CP was like, hey, what if you stand 22 yards away?
And then the guy catches it 21 yards.
Now they're in field go range.
Remember that play in overtime?
I do.
So now we're going to have a guy to tell him, no, no, no, this first down market, like the pylon wasn't there, right?
Same thing.
Like, that's where the thing is.
And he's going to go, okay.
One other, didn't Christian Parker have one other, like, real egregious?
That was one of them.
I don't know.
The point is, the point is we're hiring Mike Petten.
Let's go to, let's just take you to the press conference a little bit.
It was a very, very beneficial weekend, I'll say.
Okay, they had this weekend.
Three-day weekend, right?
Let's get some things done.
A little trust retreat.
No lazy Sunday in there?
Negatory.
Tough conversations, buddy.
A lot of long hours spent, a lot of long conversations.
Bigot.
Deep dives where we're looking at everything from all three units and, you know,
came away with it with a lot of what we would say really good solutions and ideas that now it's about implementing.
See what we would call solutions and ideas?
This is where great solutions and ideas, now it's just to implement.
Now it's on you guys.
It's on the players.
We had the great solution and the great idea.
Now, you guys don't F this up again.
You know, that began today.
Oh, one more.
Would this move have happened if you guys have won on Thursday night?
I believe so, yeah.
I mean, I think, you know, it just took, you know, pet, you know, saying that, yeah, this is something he wanted to do.
I mean, and I guess, you know, maybe he ate too much food in Italy or whatever it was,
and he says it's time to get back to work.
But, yeah, this is something that, again, we had talked about
and we're finally able to execute it with the right person.
And I think that's the thing that I want to keep emphasizing.
You know, he's the right person and the right fit.
Ah, well then.
Well, if you will allow me without sarcasm.
Also, we plan.
Let me add one more thing, Jake.
Also, we planned the whole time to have Christian Parker go up to the booth to coach the defense.
And like, stop.
Why are you asking each question?
We'll hear from Jerry on that.
No, but we had John Hampton here for the game stream on Thursday night, played in college, played a little bit professionally.
You know, has worked on game broadcasts, has been around programs a long time.
and his take was that he was surprised they didn't hire a veteran to Shepard Christian Parker.
Like right out of the gate.
I'd never heard anybody say that.
And he's like, I don't know why they didn't just, there's other teams do this all the time.
And in my head, I'm thinking that's kind of an availability or a supply issue.
Like there's not all those guys just sitting around who are like, I'll just take a job where I don't have to be in charge.
I'm not really, it's hard to find, but they're out there, I guess.
And right after, you know, it's the week after John said,
This is something they should be looking at.
They did it.
Obviously, they would not be doing it if their defense were playing well.
But I bet you in the off season, this was something that they thought about of, if this goes really poorly,
we need to have a short list of guys that we can call.
And you know, Shottie's got a list of guys.
I know we all can't stand him for various reasons, but he clearly is out there having appetizers and saving phone numbers.
So they probably thought about this from a standpoint.
of if we're still literally the worst defense in the league through five games,
we're going to have to call somebody else in.
And Christian Parker, I still think the guy's going to be great,
just because I've listened to him talk a lot.
And I like the style of defense he plays.
But they say that he was, you know, he's a great teacher,
and he's a great technique guy.
And I'd rather have that and then grow from there than be a guy who's like a,
oh, this is an exos nose guy who doesn't know.
anything about technique.
But if there's something, I mean, you don't have to even know that about him to know.
He'd never call the game.
So if there's something he was going to suck at, it stands the reason.
He could be a pretty good technical coach.
He could be a guy who's good with the players,
and he could be getting beat by NFL coordinators left and right, you know.
I mean, Dak got beat by Todd Bowles the other night.
shot he's being beaten you know it happens he's just been on the losing end of a lot of matchups so
I don't think it's a horrible thing I think it's very unlikely there anything other than just
one of the five to seven worst defenses in the league and I think that's going to happen whether
they bring petting in or not but this can't do anything but in my opinion help Christian
Parker's growth I don't think it'll hurt it oh yeah well the question is though
The real question is, what does, if you brought in Brian Flores last February, when did Christian Parker, February?
Yeah.
It's the end of the season.
Run then.
Like if you brought Brian Flores in and said, here, go, how much different is this season?
A guy that's considered just about the best there is, right?
Just looking at the hiring timeline.
I mean, he's been the, you're saying if they had poached him and.
Yeah, I'm just saying you hand him the exact same players.
always the question. Right. And it's been the question throughout the tenure of the Jerry Jones
post-Jimmy Johnson era too. And guys you, you know, is it, you know, are you blaming Dave Campo? Or was it,
is there more to this story? Is there more to, like, was it Jason Garrett? Or would any coach
in this system have coached the players to the exact same thing? It's probably worth noting just that the way the
Cowboys operate. We always think of it like, oh, they're going to get somebody they know,
like Shottie or Garrett. But there's also, because of Jerry's ties to the league, guys that
they would never touch. And Brian Flores, who's actively involved in litigation against the NFL,
and anyone else who fits that bill, Jerry's probably, and my guess is, got a list of guys he
won't really deal with. That being said, yes, it's shitty. It's very,
very hard to watch right now.
The play you referenced
was one of many
that made me look this up. It feels like they've
had an inordinate amount of
11 or
more to go that they've given up.
Like, hey, there's a first and 15.
Because the Texans started like three straight
drives with first down
penalties.
And it's, right now
Dallas has given up a first down on
15 of 24 times that they've
been over 10 yards.
behind the sticks. The league average is like 40%. So they're up at, you know, whatever that is,
62 and a half or 65. They can't get off the field. It's hard to watch. So something's obviously
got to change. Jerry was a, even if it's just deck chairs on the Titanic,
Jerry was talking about this move, Petten, the booth, all of that and had a couple nuggets.
Jerry, I'm glad you mentioned the Mike Petton news, which Shottie had announced yesterday.
obviously a veteran defensive coordinator,
somebody that's worked with Christian Parker before.
How much of this is...
Love Bobby, but I'm fast forwarded.
Well, I don't look at it that way.
You know, we had Uber Fluse, our defense...
Dude, that's not even a guy.
It's not like it's Colin Kaepernick or some guy.
Uber Flues has been here for two decades on and off, you know?
Uber Flues.
Well, I don't look at it that way.
You know, we had Uber Flos.
Our defensive coordinator last year serves in this same role for San Francisco right now,
and he is their advisor.
And, of course, we moved on from Uber Flos,
but it just shows you it's one that is commonly used.
Okay, so.
So again, what?
everybody's doing the advisor thing
but the point is yes
if it wasn't brought in in the off season
shoddy's explanation for that was very loose
I think just the very
I mean he wouldn't you know
he just wasn't ready to commit at the time
and then he wanted to go to Italy and be a grandfather
and then all of a sudden
well let me tell you something else
he had too much food to eat
I was thinking about this earlier
or maybe they doubled their offer
by the way if I'm Mike Ped and I'm like
how about you back off
or even I'm a fat fuck now
like what did I tell you you could just make fun of me
I don't know bud but
But to that end, when we were talking about Atlas Foundation,
it just made me think like,
sometimes you can be like,
these people have been doing this a long time,
and their family did it,
and that's a great thing.
Because, like, Kyle Shanahan can do basically anything he wants.
He can bring in another coach and be like,
this is the assistant head coach.
He's dealing with the defense.
There's no concern that Kyle Shanahan might be fired,
and this guy's going to take over.
Or that he'll take it some kind of way
where not to say that Kyle Shanahan doesn't have an ego,
but if they brought in Mike Patton,
we'd all be like, why is Ashadi in danger?
Like, did he sign off on this?
There's a lot of dynamics that get introduced
by just being the cowboys
that other teams don't have to deal with.
Well, it's what happens when you hire coaches
that no one else is looking at to hire as a coach.
Like, if you did that when Dave Campo was hired,
you would have said,
whoa, is this the coach in waiting?
because it's Dave Campo.
This is true.
You know, Wade Phillips, when he was hired for the Cowboys,
at that point, Wade Phillips was beyond his,
he's going to be a head coach again.
We already knew, right?
There are guys like that who have had their shot,
and you just know, okay, they're court.
Mike Patton might be one of those guys, right?
He's beyond his, he's not going to be a head coach.
Brian Flores might be back in that group again.
It just be a great coordinator.
That does exist.
my only thing is as poorly as it's going right now,
I still want to give them credit for doing it differently because they did.
It isn't Uber Fluse.
It is a guy that other teams wanted to hire.
Yeah, it's not Mike Patton.
And so, exactly.
But yes, it's...
May not be working, but it doesn't mean that it didn't,
they didn't try a different way.
I mean, that's, that's, there is at least a possible upward trajectory here
as opposed to with Mike Zimmer and his eye or Uber Fluse.
I mean, I'm in it for the long haul.
So I'm not bailing on Christian Parker.
I'm still excited because he's not 80, you know,
and he's not moving on to the next thing.
So I'm interested in him going to the booth
because I'd like him to be the coordinator for the next few years.
And this is where Jerry's asked about that from the fan.
Jerry Jones with us here on 105 through the fan.
Jerry, you know, when you're looking at the evaluation,
you talk about all the things you guys have been evaluating
and Shottie mentioned that yesterday
that there's been a big evaluation process
over the weekend. What goes
into your particular process
of determining whether your team
needs changes or if they just need
time?
I think you search
for what we can
do differently that
would give us better results.
That's the main
emphasis that we
would spend some
let's say specific
attention to areas.
You'd look at such things.
We're going to coach the defense
not on the field, but up above.
Parker's going up above.
And so you should be.
He said that like it's a magical spell.
He's going above.
You guys might not have heard this one before,
but he's going to float up into the rafters
and just sort of call the shots.
from there.
And so you should be looking for ways to adjust and make changes to improve.
All right.
Well, there you go.
There you go.
I thought a lot about our should they, they throw the ball a lot a lot is the thing.
And I think you're on team.
They might need to throw it even more.
and I've never been a protect the defense guy.
I've always just thought you've got to call your best plays.
I hate that.
I just think football is too complicated to start dicking around with these ancillary things.
You just call your best plays.
But the way Dallas's offense is set up,
I'm still not sure that they can't move the ball better or as well by consistently running the ball.
Their averages look bad because of where they're,
running the ball. They're running the, you know, again, a one-yard stop and a one-yard gain for a
touchdown from the one is two attempts for one yard that average it. You know what I mean?
So their numbers, they've successfully run the ball when they've tried to.
So if we're looking for ways to improve their defense, you're running out of options.
One of them might be you've got a pretty good running game. You might need to try to keep your
off the field a little bit.
It seems like the best way to help your defense is to score points.
So if you've got a lot of money at receiver, I don't just,
if you want to run a two-minute drill every single time and you score touchdown,
then you should do that.
But go back to like the Christian Parker quote of,
and I'm getting Blake-pilled here because I still think NFL teams don't throw the ball
enough, but some circumstantial and schematic things are changing.
And while you're more likely, what did he say,
twice as likely to get an explosive passing than rushing, you're also twice as likely to turn
the ball over.
So in a normal world where I go get turnovers on defense and I rush the passer and Duran
Blan picks off passes, I don't worry, I'm not that worried about the ball.
Like I'm going to play a little more cavalier with it up my variance knob.
But if I can't get the ball back ever, then at some point, you know, you might have to figure
out a way to play offense that doesn't, that doesn't resolve.
result in the defense being out there as much as they have been.
You're running out of options, you know?
I mean, time of possession killed him against Tampa Bay.
Yeah, and it's not even, like, I hate even worrying about that, but it's just...
You just have to know that your defense is going to do that.
They can run the ball is the thing.
They've got a good run game.
They've got a good run coordinator.
They've got a good quarterback to get them in run plays.
I'm more...
And they've got two receivers that make it easier for them to run the ball.
It's not that the receivers are useless here.
I'm more on board with your thought of,
I don't know if they're good enough to be able to just, hey, I'm going to win this way.
Hey, this week I want to win, like, I do, I'm more on board with what Blake's saying is
you've got all the money tied up and great receivers and a very good quarterback.
Now, do whatever, do any way that's going to work.
but score every time.
That just has to be your mentality.
That's how bad our defense is.
Now, if you're good enough that you can put together eight-minute drives and then score, let's go.
But otherwise, let's just get out there and you're going to have to move the ball.
You're going to have to score points and consider it a failure.
You already build yourself as the greatest offense there is, idiots.
So you did that.
Put that target on you.
They're not very good at, like, playing it close to the vest or, you know, and I guess that's not how you sell tickets.
Like, Jerry, okay, the embarrassing guy.
Jerry was happy about the embarrassing guy from what I heard.
The guy that yelled embarrassing.
Yeah, I saw it.
He loves it.
Loves the news.
Loves the passionate fans.
Loves the, whatever.
Can I give you a study real quick that I did that I think Blake will be interested in?
Did you do a deep dive?
It was a tough conversation.
Shottie did a deep dive.
The stupid AI stuff might actually use the word deep dive
because it was trained by morons.
Blake has often said, and I think Dan, too,
that the Cowboys are poor favorites,
that they're bad front runners.
And it does feel that way.
It feels that way like season long,
they come into a training camp off of a 13 and 3 season.
They're ready for the playoffs and they get punched in the mouth.
Yeah, and obviously we have no evidence in saying that.
It just feels like going into Thursday night, I thought the Cowboys might lose this because
this would be very Cowboys for them to lose.
And I don't know how many fan bases can say that about their own team.
And maybe they do.
Well, that game, while it definitely feels like it doesn't necessarily fit the study I'm
looking at here, although it sort of does, which is this.
As a favorite, the Cowboys overall, and I'm going back about 25 years here,
as a favorite overall, they're about average.
However, as a short favorite, meaning half a point to three points across this 25 year span,
they are 32nd out of 32nd out of 32 teams.
And their record against the spread as a short favorite.
So close games, which are the ones we remember, when they've been a short favorite,
which is like, think about what you're talking about.
You're like, damn, Dallas is good.
Here comes Philadelphia.
I could see a 34, 31 gates, Dallas, two and a half.
Those type of games, they have the worst record in football over this 20 to 25 year stretch.
Wow.
What do you make of that?
I think it fits exactly with everything else that we talk about, which is that it's nut-cutting time where they fail.
Their projected win total over the last, over this period of time was like 9.5.5.
and they won 9.25.
Their over-under on Vegas was a push.
They're usually one or one game above, one game below.
They make it to the part of the season
where the margins are the closest and the hardest,
and then they flop.
So I don't mean for it to just fit with the overall narrative,
but as a favorite, they're actually not bad,
and that's probably because they oftentimes are like,
you know, they have these high-powered offenses they cover.
but as a short favorite, they're the worst team in the NFL for that stretch.
36% of the time.
It has lost more of those games outright than it's won.
30 and 34.
Across 64 games of being favored.
So there is something to your hunch of the close games because they're cover rate across the rest of these.
And interestingly enough, the short cover rate,
Dallas again ranks 32nd.
Philadelphia is number two.
So when you think of like your tough guy...
Yeah, that checks.
Yeah.
How are they as underdogs?
This could be a question for tomorrow.
I'm sure it's some level of flip, right?
But you have to do a deep dive tonight.
Can I get into the embarrassing guy?
Yeah.
The guy that yelled embarrassing, there's a new phenomenon on Twitter.
I forgot about this.
I fell for one of them.
So the guy that, yeah, so if you remember the post game Thursday night,
Dak is walking out in the tunnel, someone yells, that was embarrassing.
He looks back kind of, what, what, you know, kind of, you talking to me, keeps going.
And then that kind of blew up.
Talked about it in the post game.
shot he addressed it in the post game.
And then we kind of heard the next day, oh, that guy got fired.
He wasn't a team employee, but he was like an employee or a driver or something.
But he got fired.
I don't know what that means.
Anyway, so the next day on Twitter, we get this.
Hey, I just want to come on and say sorry to all the Dallas fans, Dak, Prescott, etc.
I'm the employee that yelled embarrassing as Dak walked by and looked at me.
They let me go this morning.
I'm not a Cowboys fan, but, you know, I'm sorry.
And if anybody was offended, I apologize.
But, yeah, and if anybody's hiring, then, you know, I won't do that again.
So, yeah.
Sorry.
Okay.
Okay, so there's a guy that happened.
And so then he gets a ton.
There's a ton of comments.
There's a thousand, you know, all that, the engagement.
And you're like, whoa, man, I can't believe that guy can't.
And I'm scrolling down Twitter.
and then I see this.
Well, guys, it's official.
I just got fired from my job.
Apparently last night when Dak was going through the tunnel,
I yelled out embarrassing.
And I admit that was not my best moment,
but he looked back and I said, yeah, it was me.
I said it.
And, you know, they called me in this morning and fired me.
The point is here.
Yeah.
And he got a ton of engagement in the,
comments and that's all we're doing.
And I think I've talked about this last week sometimes.
It's like when somebody makes like a blatantly erroneous statement on Twitter,
I think they're doing it on purpose.
That's the thing about our show.
We're doing it.
This is all real.
Genuinely this dog.
This is real.
So all these other people are like, oh, no, the sun revolves this way.
You know what I mean?
The water tower, we actually don't know.
No.
No idea.
So, and if we say we got fired.
If we get, see, we got sued.
We got sued.
You know, it's not fake.
But so I don't know anymore.
Now you talk about deep fakes and what do we?
Can we ever actually find the guy who got fired?
Can we ever actually find the guy who caught a fly ball?
Let me tell you about the guy who got fired.
Well, I suppose I don't know this, but I would imagine he has signed a document and been given something, most likely, and been told you're going to shut the fuck up and you're not going to talk to another person about this.
And that guy said, excellent.
I'd like to keep working as Chavonne Ravelle's driver.
He better not have a driver.
Yeah, does Chavon Ravelle have a driver?
I'm just saying, you know, we got that email from a listener who works at a local upscale.
hotel. And there was a member, not the one I just named, but of the Cowboys' Defensive Backfield
that wouldn't leave for like four days. And they dealt with all manner of cowboy handlers and
fixers. And they didn't make him, I don't think they made him sign anything, but they were like,
hey, you know, we want to make this right for you. Let's be chill about this. You never heard from the
DJ that Zeke just roofed one afternoon and just... No, but if that happened today,
Today, four guys would be on Twitter claiming...
That's true, a face is all messed up, bodycast.
If we're done with Cowboys, I would like to move to NFC East.
Yeah.
And I would like to do a little wordplay with you here.
NFC East, or is it NFC Least?
And when you say Least, then I think of the word lease,
and then I think of Fair Lease,
Fairlease.org.
You made it worth it.
The provider,
Brandon Aubrey,
gets a vehicle from Fairlease.
Our guys at Community Mechanical
and some other businesses, I think, in the
consortium, actually lease their
fleets from Fairlease.
The guys at Community Mechanical
did lease at D&M,
and they said, you know what? When this lease
runs out, we'll sign up with you, Fairlease.
And Fairlease said, hold on,
what if we buy you out of that lease?
That's how good our deal is going to be.
So they did that.
They've got all their vehicles now.
And they've gotten so much business through Dumb Zone listeners and businesses that listen to the Dumb Zone.
They have a special phone number just for you.
972705-4815.
Ask for Connor or ask for Nick.
The Credit Union of Texas is the affiliation you're working with with Fairlease,
which means they can be much more flexible and fast and responsive with your financing and with finding you a vehicle.
So do it at Fairlease.org.
Fair least when you don't know what to do about a car
Because car stuff is hard
Need a dealership baby
Funny tweet was the NFC East
Won zero games on a week in which two teams played each other
That's a great stat
And that is true
Do you want to go to the Eagles or the other game first
Because they were both
insane loss
Well I guess one wasn't a loss
moments of tie.
Both kind of make you feel better about everything, Cowboys.
Yeah, yeah.
You like to see...
Not just because they're a division,
but just because they're just bone-headed,
how-the-hell type moments.
You're like, oh, wait, I guess we aren't the only ones
who should have their coordinators play Madden.
That's always been your thing, right?
Yeah.
I think a lot of them now probably have,
and that's what's helping in a lot of these cases
when it comes to clock management.
Okay, so the Eagles go up.
Is it overtime?
Or is it just before overtime?
Just before.
Okay, so the Eagles go up late in the game.
They end up with eight seconds on the clock.
And the Cowboys, very similar situation, right?
They had seven seconds on the clock against Baltimore.
The Cowboys booted out of the end zone.
Baltimore completes one pass.
back to Christian Parker, knowing it's,
you should have guys cover 20 yards down the field, not 22,
to exactly the marker that was needed and then a field goal.
Baltimore had a timeout too.
They had a timeout too?
Yeah, I think so.
So they can catch it, call timeout.
Right.
Bang a timeout.
Jacksonville had no timeouts,
or else you wouldn't have even said that.
So Jacksonville has no timeouts.
The Eagles are winning.
They kick off.
There's one more side.
There's eight seconds, and they saw the Cowboys mistake, and they kicked it in play.
I don't criticize that at all.
And I saw Nick Siriani taking a hit for saying, yeah, you know what, we should have booted it out of the end zone.
I think they did the right thing.
I think it's just their third phase, completely s the bed, and it was very, very lucky as well.
Because without the timeouts, you needed to get that return.
and be tackled with time still on the clock
and get a return that you could be in somewhat of field goal range.
That's very rare.
It's narrow.
To get a field goal...
Far enough and still have time.
How many returns have the Cowboys had this year
where they could have kicked a field goal right off the return?
If I'm not mistaken, it'd be zero.
Turpin had one in Houston.
That was good.
Did he get one into far enough
that if they stopped right there,
they could bring out Brandon.
No.
That's the point.
No, no, no.
How many kicks in the NFL on a weekly basis are returned past the 50-yard line?
I'd say very, very few.
So the fact that one got through, it just happened to be, and it happened to be exactly seven seconds.
Yeah.
And he was tackled right there, and then they could kick a field goal.
And Jacksonville has a Brandon-like field goal kicker.
He can kick 60-yarders.
Well, I guess...
This is a question for Brandon, and I hate to be,
well, why don't you just hit the ball out of the park guy?
But I watched the Rams kicker do this last night.
You can kick the ball in bounds in the landing zone.
The squib is not dead.
It is possible.
Yeah.
It's not a binary thing.
So I'm blaming the third phase for it was a poor kick if you kick it right to them.
Right.
If Siriani, I mean, I don't know how these calls get made,
but I would assume there are various types of kicks
that the special teams' coordinating.
is calling, and it's a very intentional thing to kick the, they kick the ball high.
The guy basically got to run under it and get his protection set.
So to me, I think this is almost as bad as what Dallas did.
There's a middle option here.
The ball needs to hit inbound so the clock starts rolling.
And you're not just giving up the return.
But, you know, that was a weird one because Jacksonville also was trying very hard to lose that game.
they had made a number of questionable decisions on their own.
But you feel good if you're trying to keep up in the division.
Philadelphia's offense is just disgusting.
Yeah, I'm trying to remember their game prior.
But I saw a note that they have blown a 97% win probability in back-to-back games,
like right at the end of...
Yeah, it was the Rams.
It was the Rams, Philly?
Yeah, when the Rams scored 14.
14 fourth quarter points.
They're a strange team.
And the Cowboys have Philly in two weeks, I think.
They have three straight primetime standalone games.
They had Thursday night, Tampa.
This Sunday, it's at Green Bay.
And then the following Monday it'll be,
is it at Philly or here?
At Philly.
You would know.
I do know.
We'd be back at...
I'll be in the den Tuesday morning.
4 a.m.
Do you want to, can I...
I don't know, man.
Let me think about it.
Can I...
Last year, I once told you,
hey, come sleep here after your flight.
You landed.
At 4 a.m. you drove here,
and I inadvertently locked the door.
I locked the door.
Just...
And I did wake up at 4.45,
realizing and ran downstairs,
but you were gone.
Yeah.
I made Blake not only drive here.
And then you, what, slept in the Argyle parking lot?
I found a Walmart at 377 and 114 and slept in the Walmart parking lot in my car.
I have to make it up to you.
No, you don't.
And the only way I can make it up to you is by having you recreate the whole thing.
Well, maybe.
Maybe it'll be a bit now that I...
It would be funny if you did it again.
I put a big padlock on the outside.
It's hanging there.
Anyway, elsewhere in the NFC East,
Washington, Pat.
Washington.
He's back.
Who's back?
Jayden Daniels.
I mean, Jaden Daniels is back.
And I've never seen, I don't know how to explain that game.
So they're in overtime.
There's 27, 30 seconds on the clock.
Washington has no timeouts.
They're well in field goal range around 4.
40 yards or so.
And let's just let this clock tick down,
snap it, spike it, kick it, and we'll go home.
And they let it tick down to like, what, 13 before snapping it?
And then there was no spike.
There was no roll around in the backfield and then throw it out of bounds.
There was just a very confused, I don't know.
Go look at that play again, too.
Do you have any idea what the...
No, and I haven't heard of...
Anybody was doing?
If you look at it, too.
And then Jalen...
Jaden Daniels falls down.
And then there doesn't...
Then it seems like with three seconds left,
the whole team kind of gets the...
Whoa, whoa, wait!
That's right.
Snat!
Spite!
And then the clock ran out,
and the game ends in a tie.
And so the Giants are going nuts,
because they were down like 14 or 17.
James Winston lead.
him back, fourth quarter comeback. He ends up with 350 yards passing a few touchdowns.
And they walk out of their like on their, they just had a huge win. And Washington just walks
out, their tail between their legs. It's very odd how a tie can be viewed differently by two
teams. But it's a definite loss for Washington. I saw this note on Washington.
Last 17 games, 3, 13, and 1.
They beat the 2 and 12 New York Giants,
the Philly backup quarterback in week 18 last year,
and they beat Seattle.
Week 1, right?
No, it wasn't effing week 1.
It was like week 4, and it was when I was like,
you know what, Seattle, juggernaut, Washington sucks.
Let's triple play Seattle.
Yeah.
Yeah, the game I triple played is the one game in the last 17 that Washington has played well.
That's right.
Watch my picks every Thursday.
Eight of those losses, the 13 losses were by double digits.
Seven of the losses were by over 17 points or more.
So they're just getting drilled by their, you know, they got a head coach that ostensibly is a defensive-minded,
guy.
They have a note on that game, too.
I'm looking at David Blow here because they got rid of Coach Bro, right?
It may have been mutual.
That's what you hear.
Mutual in the sense he just didn't like the scene either?
The owner, I think, was not a fan.
Oh, really?
The old owner's probably sitting somewhere with Uber Fluse.
Like, I thought y'all said this shit was all my fault.
Washington goes up by 14 with 11.05 left in the game, fourth quarter, and they ran the ball one time for the rest of the game, even though Kroski, Merritt, Bill, had like a seven and a half per carry average.
Like he was apparently running the ball well, and they ran it twice in overtime.
So the point is they had a 14-point lead.
Dan Quinn, accustomed to losing leads, right?
Yeah.
If you want to look at the Super Bowl.
Do you want to hear from these guys?
Yes.
I have some audio.
I listen to both their press conferences.
We can start with Jaden Daniels.
And I want to play this game.
Because if you hate A, folks, you hate DAC, right?
We all hate DAC, right?
Ah, Dak, fourth rounder, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
What if this was your quarterback after that game?
What happened there in that last play?
We all got to be better situationally.
Football starts with me.
Everybody will say the same thing, but we just got to be better in situational football.
What were you trying to throw the ball away and just took it up?
Or what was the goal on that play when you snapped?
I almost want to go back even say, what do you mean situational football?
When to spike it?
We got to stop the clock.
We got to know it's ozone situation.
I like how everything's we here, too.
It sounds like Josh Hamilton's wife.
Took it up?
What was the goal on that play when you snapped?
We got to stop the clock.
We got to know it's an ozone situation.
We got to relay that as an offense.
It starts from everybody top down.
Ultimately, you know, it's on me.
Okay, so there, what are we saying there?
Are you then alleging that top down, it's everybody?
But then, I mean, look, it's who I am.
Jane Daniels, I'll take the heat.
It's going to fall on me.
So he's going to, like, he's taking the blame as if it wasn't, as if he doesn't deserve the blame.
Did you hear anything or say anything in the huddle about, hey, you know, we've got, we've got to get, that's clock stopped here?
Yeah, the media is, like, flabbering.
Yeah.
Yeah, you've got to be better.
Overall, you started and finished the game for the first time in a while.
How'd you feel out there?
How did it go?
It felt good.
Yeah, that's funny to get to that drive to kind of get you to where.
Actually, let me just jump forward a few minutes because it's just much of this.
Much of the, you know what, we just got to be better.
We got to be better.
Let me jump ahead a little bit.
It's on all of us.
It's not just one individual.
Oh, man, I love this.
What if Dak said this after Dak had a really boneheaded play to end the game?
It's on all of us.
It's not just one individual, one person.
You know, we're all in this together.
And tough times, you know, make tough times the last tough people do.
And, you know, we have a brotherhood in there.
And if you're rocking with each other, you know, we're going to stick by each other and weather the storm.
So there you go.
Yeah, I don't know, man.
It's on all of us.
and my mom.
All of us and my mom.
He's got some Deshawn Watson to him.
No, dude, I would hate if this guy was my quarterback.
And he's a walking injury waiting to happen anyway.
I saw...
Not by stock in J.N. Daniel.
Everyone's new favorite NFL Twitter follow, that Ryan Paganetti guy.
And he had some...
We talked about this a little bit after the Brazil game, too,
because Shottie was like, well, I used some words that really kind of spooked Dak
and gave him a little more of a, and this guy, you know, it's easy for him to do this from the
sidelines, right? There's a little bit of Michael Lombardi to this, right? You're not in the league
now and you're saying all the things you should have done. But he says, among other things,
some of these car accident game management sequences that can be traced back to having 400
buzzwords for situations and confusing both players and staff. I've had people in booth roles
insist that you need all these silly code words.
This one is ozone.
This one is giraffe and so on.
Then when I bring up edge scenarios
that none of their 400 situations adequately captured,
they don't know what to tell me.
Just calmly explain what to do
over the headset to the quarterback
and you very likely leave with a victory.
Like we don't need 50,
you don't need cadence.
It's a chapter long.
You have the connection up until a certain time.
Just tell them what we're.
we're doing. Yeah, I get that. But you would think your quarterback knows the rules of the game.
I think he thought that they would just flip fields and continue playing in overtime.
He didn't know. There's a very good chance of that.
Here's what Dan Quinn said.
Let's get rolling and get questions.
Okay, so yeah, he kind of gave his opening thoughts.
I told you this is what most head coaches do when they do a press conference. They don't just say open it up to questions.
Well, Shoddy added one thing last time.
He told you about Godfidence and then opened it for questions.
Let's get rolling and get more questions.
Was Jaden just supposed to throw the ball away out of bounds on that play?
Yeah, like the sequencing of that does not fall on him.
It's an outside throw or a clock.
You know, those are the two out of bounds throw or a clock.
And that has to come from me.
I don't even have to put him into that spot.
I can do that earlier.
And we can finish, you know, the kick early.
We don't need to gain more yards.
So that's on me.
I'll play more, but I just find it interesting that he's,
the way Jaden Daniels described it was, hey, you know, I mean, it starts at the top,
but you know what, I take responsibility.
So Jaden Daniels kind of throwing Dan Quinn under the bus.
I'm trying to figure that out how I could be the starting quarterback.
And, but then walk out and say, well, I don't know.
I didn't know.
you know he's standing in a huddle and all that but then dan quinn is kind of taking all the heat
and i think dan quinn i don't know realizes he's a coach and that you're always going to
the star player is going to win in the end is that the whole
probably mindset like these are this this goes along with the babying of the current
the modern day NFL quarterback even before they are good and get earned that second contract
you kind of like i have to make sure that uh they're
an NBA player? Do I got to make sure
that they won't leave as a free agent?
So that's on me.
I was going to say, why not just spite the ball?
Is that not communicated to him?
No, we're just trying to gain more.
We don't need to.
Like, this easy enough to say, hey, man, let's clock it right here.
We're early enough and go get it.
Was Jaden aware that there were no time out?
All of the media is flabbergat.
Like, they can't understand.
How could the end of the game happen like that?
And I'm going to try and word it a little differently, but, like,
Is your quarterback an idiot?
Huh.
Or are you the idiot?
Like, who, there's an idiot in here somewhere.
And maybe, if I go back to your Twitter guy, Jake, and the buzzwords or this word, or this is a key, like,
and this goes along with, are there a lot of guys on these headsets?
Are there, is it good to have petting and shoddy and?
CP and this guy and like do we need to simplify some of this because that seemed like the most
simplest thing I've ever seen every fan watching every announcer every media person they all knew
we've seen this a million times you're telling me that the coach and a quarterback hadn't
or did the coach assume the quarterback knows what he's doing because he's the quarterback
I don't know yeah I don't either yeah you shouldn't need code words for little things like that
For the clock is running down, there's 30 seconds left.
It's tied.
It's overtime.
I'm in field goal range.
I don't have a time out.
What is our play here?
Like, could Brooks fill me in on what to do there?
Not yet.
Not yet.
Close.
I don't know.
I just thought it was...
Where do you fall in the idea that...
I mean, because I guess Buffer...
was faced with this last night.
What about just when New York ran a play and fumbled?
Like, just looking over at your kicker like,
oh, shit, we're at the 24, we're under two minutes.
I thought that was a really bad decision.
Now it worked out.
It's not like they're throwing it, but it didn't work out.
The Giants.
The tide.
I'm just saying right there, I'm very tempted to just walk my kicker out there and end this.
Yeah, like what Buffalo did.
Right.
Yeah, right.
And you've seen that before, for sure.
But.
Am I only running plays because there's a clock up there?
Is there no way?
Aren't you trying to get the ball closer?
Certainly in those particular plays, aren't you like, can't you do super extra protection on fumbling?
Like, I'm going to cradle it.
I'm not.
But if you're doing that, then you're also saying I'm kind of happy with not gaining yards.
So why are we even doing it in the first place?
Right.
That's what you're saying?
Yeah.
Sometimes you see them do it to get it to the hash mark that the kicker prefers.
A couple other.
story real quick, then we'll get a break in.
Let's relate this to the Cowboys.
I've never seen a more disrespectful but awesome disrespect than Mike Evans gave to Trayvon Diggs.
Did you guys see it?
Well done.
The guy who's trash talking you as you're torching him, as you're lighting him up for a 100-yard game,
for you to vary publicly in the middle of the field,
make him turn around so you could see the name on his jersey.
So, like, who are you?
Who are you?
That was the funniest.
We never played it, but something like that happened to him on Hard Knocks.
Trayvon Diggs?
Yeah.
There was somebody trying to.
And how much money did Micah make him?
Because they had a guy on their team who wears, like, short shorts.
Like that was his thing.
Oh, wait, Seattle?
Yeah.
Oh, Seattle Hard Knocks.
Yeah, excuse me, yeah.
Yeah.
And I was thinking of the one where Aiden got famous.
Somebody, no, somebody on the team was like, no, dude.
Come on, you're not even going to be here.
Like, you're barely on this team type.
I don't feel that he's a guy that's commanding a ton of respect.
Boy, he started on the practice squad, right?
Yeah, I mean, he doesn't seem to me to be a guy who, like, loves playing football, but whatever, man.
Mike Evans on the other hand
pride from his cold dead hands
No man he's still got it
Love it
Until the substation gets him
I thought Evans talking about it was funny
If you want to hear it
Okay
I didn't know that was him at first
Because I played against him a few times
And we always been cool
You know he was a good player
And I didn't
Honestly didn't know it was him
Because in the helmet
It's hard to tell sometimes
And we were just
We were talking trash
and I think I like pushed them
and then I was like
Who are you?
And I look and make sure
I like oh it's Diggs
And then he like
And then he mushed me
It should have been a penalty
I
Mushed
It was funny he said he was a good player
There was a year
You guys remember that
It was a fun year
Yeah
All these guys
They're in our pad
DQ
DQ
That was fun.
Those are good times.
Did we not know those are the best of times?
We thought we were still heading up.
All right, let's take a break.
The dumso.
I moved on her, actually.
You know, she was on on Palm Beach.
I moved on her, and I failed.
Oh, a minute.
I did try and fuck her.
She was married.
It's huge news there.
No, no, Nancy.
No, this was.
And I moved on her very heavily.
In fact, I took her out furniture shopping.
She wanted to get some furniture.
I said, I'll show you where that some nice furniture.
I took her up furniture.
I moved in her like a bitch.
I couldn't get there.
And she was married.
And all of a sudden, I see her.
She's now got the big phony tits and everything.
She's totally changed her look.
She's your girl's hot as shit.
In the purple.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Yes.
The Donald scored.
Whoa.
Oh, my man.
Wait, wait.
You got to look at you when you get out.
That is very.
You give me the thumbs up.
You are a thing.
You got to put the thumbs up.
You got to get the thumbs up.
Can't be too happy.
Yeah, that's her.
gold. I gotta use some tic-tacks just in case I start kissing her.
You know, I'm automatically attracted to beautiful. I just start kissing them.
It's like a magnet. It's just like a magnet. I don't either way. And when you're a star,
they let you do it. You can do anything. Whatever you want. Grab them by the pussy.
I can do anything. You're listening to the Dumb Zone.
Don't I know it? Let's see here.
He's attracted to beautiful women. Only him.
I'm instantly attracted to beautiful women.
But that's me.
I thought we were going to hear from Ditka today.
Well, you'll find out today in history why you heard that.
You also find out tonight, if you check out our YouTube page,
The Action is the Juice.
That is our fantasy football program.
It's not really our program.
It's John Daigle.
It is a machine.
We commissioned it.
Oh, okay, Gene.
It's awesome.
I love those guys.
They've helped out my fantasy team.
Might help out yours, too.
If you don't want to listen or view it, then don't.
What do I care?
I just want to promote it.
I'm just here to promote.
Also, we have a new person in the den right now.
We say hello to Logan Barrett.
He is part of the sit-in threesome.
For realestate.com.
Dumbzone.com.
We already met Chris Holman earlier in the program.
Brian Evans is out.
Logan, though, will be here to speak confidently about what they have going on in closing
remarks.
Logan, welcome to the program.
Logan, welcome to high up top my garage.
Good to be here.
Thanks for having me.
You say you know wire will.
Are you friends with wire will?
We go way back to about four years ago kindergarten with both of our oldest.
Okay.
You end up making friends with people your kids associate with,
and you just hope they don't suck, right?
I don't do that, so.
You don't associate with your kids?
A little, but, you know, this is a thing.
I spent the weekend with people that I've known since I was 12.
So I've done a very active job to try to keep the friends I've had.
I grew up here, you know?
So.
Yeah, I guess that's different.
You're not from here, right, Logan?
What are you from?
Corpus.
Okay.
Big part of it, especially if in Dallas, nobody's from here anymore, you know?
DFW.
Logan was a Texas Ranger for a little bit.
What were those four games like for you?
Could you write a whole book about it?
Probably not.
I'd probably get about the introduction in.
That would be a short story.
Who was your manager?
In a conclusion.
It was a banning.
his first year.
Oh, okay.
Jake's a big fan of his daughter.
She followed me on social media.
I didn't make the first move.
Oh, no.
It's not your fault.
thirsty.
Yes, one of us was.
I just hit DM.
I just had to send her that message.
All right, well, oh, want to do weekend check part two?
Sure.
As we start to look into...
Community Mechanical's friends with Will, too.
Oh yeah, Community Mechanical.
They'll keep you cool.
CommunityDFW.com, 469,667-72290, Travis and the gang out there.
Been out to all of our houses, various reasons.
If you're doing a remodel or a new build, like Brandon's doing,
they've already enlisted Travis for the new build.
Are you chilly right now?
It feels Travis-y.
Right.
That's because Community Mechanical was here for the Preventing
of maintenance program.
In fact, if you're really feeling chilly,
they did this for me too.
I could never do this before Community Mechanical.
Just turn it down right here.
Damn, son.
Oh, you want me to turn it up?
What are we on Cribs?
I got to at 74 right now.
That's insane.
That's right.
I turn it all the way up to 75.
It's Ted Benicki over here.
Where do they?
CommunityDFW.com.
And what's that number to get a hold of Travis?
He'll text you right back.
469, 667, 7290.
Clayton, weekend check?
Frucchuk, folks.
Thanks, Dan.
Here she is.
Started out the weekend, great.
A little early morning football.
Monster Energy Big 12.
How's OSU?
Roll.
Brother, they are doing great.
So ever since getting pantsed by, who was it?
Listen, you don't go into Tulsa.
and win.
I miss when you said the stadium names.
I don't remember it.
But no, exciting games.
I mean, when you got a Mike Leach disciple as your head coach, you're going to get those.
You don't win at Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium.
Thank you.
That's my favorite part.
30,000 capacity.
It's 156 on the field.
I don't have any prepared thesis on this, although when you watch your watch
Josh Allen and they're like, oh, he was a zero star.
It certainly makes me think about it.
But the fact that this kid falls into the situation, and I'm not saying he's not good.
I love watching him play.
He's got live ass arm.
But this dude's going to be an NFL prospect a year and a half, two years.
And a year ago, nobody wanted him to be their quarterback in college.
I don't think two years.
A year maybe.
Yeah, really.
Well, do you want to know, here's Eric Morris's QB coaching church.
He's got Mahomes.
He recruited Baker to Tech.
He's got Cam Ward and Matier.
No, he's...
So, I mean, he's...
He's started out under Mike Leach being the QB guy.
How's the horny Indian GM?
Is he still favoriting butts?
Was he doing it?
Yeah, after the first game, people were like, oh, my God.
What have we done?
That means you're horny?
Because, you know, that's what's happening with the Lions,
defensive coordinator right now.
No.
He's just very pop.
He's really into Instagram.
Yeah.
Like he likes to show off, like, you know,
he's a young black dude with money.
And he goes on vacation,
and he's got watches and stuff.
And then they're giving up 30 a game.
Do you know Drew Mestemaker's story, Dan?
No.
Just the short form?
No.
Didn't start in high school.
Didn't play in high school.
It was a backup.
He learned how to be a punter.
so he could just try to be on the field.
The kid in front of him went to Sin, Louisville, I think.
And he never played, went to North Texas.
I think he walked on.
And at one point, he was eighth on the depth chart at quarterback.
And through injury and transfers, he started a bowl game a couple years ago
against Texas State and killed it.
And then started the next year, and then he became Drew Mesdemeanor.
And now he'll probably be a first-round quarterback.
Well, that'd be incredible.
Very weird.
It just, it's just crazy.
It can't just be that he was bad and now he's good.
My point is this exposes some serious crevices in the way that we do this,
whether it's development.
And again, I speak as the brother of a scorned quarterback that just went through a bunch of coordinators.
But I think there's something to the right guy, the right time, in any case.
So Matt Castle never started in college, right?
I think that's...
That was like, to me, that's the most...
most similar story that I could think of. If you ended up being in the NFL on a starting quarterback,
now Matt Castle couldn't transfer. Right. But no, it's just exciting. I mean,
Mike Leach is my favorite football coach of all time. I like weird brain guys because I'm a weird
brain guy. And there's a lot of shades of that and how we play now. And, you know, we've got a great
running back, which Oklahoma State with a great running back is always dangerous.
And it was exciting.
It was a fun game.
And to celebrate, we went to Brahms.
As Jake probably did after his soccer game as well.
Do you think me and my team parties and Clayton's meals are about this game?
Yeah, yeah.
Pull up the C.C.'s.
Nothing like a nice C.C.'s party.
Oh.
What was your?
We did make the trek, speaking of Brahms, up to Oklahoma on Saturday.
Wife and daughter went Friday with, like I said, a few families that we've known.
We all grew up here.
They've got kids around our same age.
We went back to Jeremy from Trident Access Services House.
His Airbnb.
It's great.
Where we watched the UFC fight at the White House.
I remember that.
But it was a great time, man.
That's a thing that just happened.
And you're like, eh?
I mean, it's a three, three and a half hour drive.
And to my daughter, we might as well be in, like, South America.
Like, she's like, we're in the wilderness, you know?
Like, we're in the mountains.
We're in, you know, there's a river that runs through these cany.
It's like, she's in heaven.
Did you teach her about Bigfoot?
Because there's a lot of Bigfoot things out there.
She was aware.
I don't know why, but.
Maybe because we've been to Hot Springs.
We'll do some bigfooty type.
Okay.
But yeah, it's everywhere.
Anywhere with woods.
It's like going to Roswell and seeing the alien thing.
Like, there's Bigfoot shit in Broken Bow and Houchdown everywhere.
Are these Stolen Ballard Bigfoot places?
Isn't that?
It feels P&W, doesn't it?
Pacific, yeah.
Yeah.
Well, that's Bigfoot up north.
We have Sasquatch.
That's what this is down here?
It's Sasquatch.
We just get Bigfoot King, who's just,
just like the gay sassy bigfoot like tiger king he's yeah god damn it trying to photograph me
i'll never financially recover for this i'll never financially recover for this i'll never financially
that's the best bar of that whole series no i just walk around saying that all the time
uh saturday was cool too because i drove up with just the boy um they wanted to go friday i didn't want us to
have to move the show earlier Friday.
I didn't really want to go on Friday.
So I just got to drive with my son and that's cool.
You know, you remember this.
Just not get, you don't get a ton of time with just one of them.
And it's awesome.
The only reason I have any relationship with both of my kids is the time that I spent
with each of them individually.
Because if you only spend time with both of them, it just doesn't work.
And they really hate each other.
Well, it's a one-way street.
Nor really can't stand him.
And so you don't get a lot of, most of my time with them is keeping her off of him.
So just the two of us getting to hang out together.
He had a game Saturday morning.
So I went to that.
Can he physically dominate her yet?
I don't know.
She's a big kid, dude.
She's not, you know, she's not little.
She's just not aggressive.
She's got the reach.
Yeah, and she has a big temper too, big emotions, as they say.
And speaking of that, I'm not going to dwell.
on it too much because I don't want to be that guy
but I
Logan was your dad pretty athletic
and your son's probably
tracked to be pretty athletic
yeah so
my brother was a D1 quarterback
my family most of them are all big
I'm built like the
I do like improv and talk
gay my son's like
them most of the kids
who are dominant like that their dads
are also tough assholes
So I've got a demon out here
And I am the type of guy who
For better or worse
I always feel like I'm fucking it up for everybody
I always feel like if I walk into a party and there's one person there
Who doesn't want me there, I'm like I probably shouldn't be here
I don't like feeling like I'm putting on people
And that's very hard to avoid when your son is Alpha mode
He's the only one who really wants to play
He's the only one that under the only one that under
understands what's going on.
So the ref just blows the whistle and he just tackles whoever's near the ball and then goes and scores.
Anytime he wants.
Other parents, not happy.
Not happy.
And I'm not used to this because I was a gay little boy.
Nobody was ever worried about my physical presence.
But they're like, you got to control him.
Like, fuck, bro.
He hasn't Spider-Man memed another alpha yet?
No.
Because we ran into that a team full of aggressive.
I'm hoping for it.
Well, so Brooks is very kind, and I've been trying to make him meaner.
But he's also been playing with his cousins.
And so when the flip switch, when it switches, he can match.
So we found an aggressive team in the league, and it was actually good to see, like, okay, you pushed him, he'll push you, and you just, y'all figure it out.
Sports, go.
We're hoping for that.
Because I just had to tell him about halfway through, I was like, you've got to stand in our goal, bud.
That's right.
If you get these dominant kids.
Can't really play.
They got to play higher level up.
We're going to have to look at something.
I'm telling you, dude, he's different.
It's my curse.
No, it'll be interesting to see if it, because yes, as you know, at this age.
Right, somebody's always.
We always knew a kid that was just inordinately bigger or whatever.
Maybe his dad had him playing FIFA.
That's a really interesting thought that I was going through this weekend,
how you, your kid, you said your kid like basically at least knows.
which goal to go to.
Yeah, I have Nora do it too.
Like to get to understand the inbounds, out of bounds.
But to see the all-22 type thing.
Yeah.
Whereas obviously when I was growing up, probably you too.
You would have been told playing video games, you got to get out there.
Of course.
Video games are not going to help you at all.
Now it's like, well, actually, hand-eye coordination, just a learning strategy.
Learning this and that.
Like, military might need me to eliminate a little village or two.
Yeah.
Like video games are where it's at.
Well, that's why the U.S. Army is at GameCon every year.
That's what I'm saying.
I'm versatile.
Okay, time machine.
I will now...
Hitler's chilling.
We're putting Hitler down to number two, baby Hitler,
and I'm going to go back to my mom.
When I was like, eight, be like, look,
you're allowed to play video games
dude look at the people who run the country now
you don't think all those little dwebes
were programming computer games
at eight years old all the people that
you have to work for now
of course
think they were playing outside
unfortunately not
right but uh so then I went to
skin cancer
I went to coach stuff she did
I went and coached the game without my daughter
afterward which was super weird
how'd that go
this is weird dude
I felt like the girls thought it
It was weird.
Again, maybe I'm projecting.
No, you can, yeah.
But, no, it was great, man.
We went up and spent a couple days up there.
Friday night I did three shows at Big Laugh.
There were a couple of listeners at each one, which was awesome.
That's kind of happening now.
Where's Big Laugh?
Downtown Fort Worth.
Okay.
I had three sets.
Did you kill?
I don't know if I killed, but I mean, I asked.
Have you ever bombed, like, to where you walked out going,
And yes, I've experienced what I've always heard all the comedians say.
I totally bombed.
I don't know if I've, not really, but I think you'd have to be in front of more people for it to really feel like you.
I mean, when you're in front of 12 people, like, I mean, I've seen something that I would say is close to that, which is like somebody losing their place.
And that is a problem for me.
Not losing my place, but more like trying to get the ending.
Because they'll be like, all right, you got two minutes.
And I'm like, fuck.
I don't know how long this is going to...
I don't have that part down at all.
So I have seen somebody kind of blank out
and just be like, you know what?
How about your next comic?
Really?
Yeah.
Yeah.
But it was fun.
Listeners showing up.
The lady brought me cupcakes.
That's an interesting thing to explain to the other comedians there.
I'm like, yeah, dude.
Just how famous I am.
I was like, people bring my partner fish.
I don't know, man.
They bring me sweet treats.
Yeah.
We got a whole scene.
It's a good time.
All right.
Are we ready for today's?
We are.
Here's Jane with the Dumb Zone News.
And are we aware that is brought to us by Game Day Men's Health?

Yeah, so he's going to bring a buddy.
And you're in the drawing to watch a cowboy game with us high atop my garage.
Gameday.Dumbzone.com.
You got your B12 shots.
You got your, oh, peptides.
That's what everybody's doing these days.
And in that testosterone test, when they do the blood work,
they kind of check your prostate along with that.
If anything gets flagged on there, we had one of our listeners.
They were like, hey, you might want to go look at your,
get your regular doctor to look at it.
They did, and he found some cancer.
It's a bad kind.
You don't usually want to find, I mean, you don't.
do, right? If you have cancer, you want to
intercept it.
You want to find it and then you want to
get rid of it. And that's what this guy
did because of game day.com.com.
That's what I'm trying to say. You should P-BU
it. Not intercepted.
Right.
The Cowboys almost...
Wait, which game was that?
Bland.
This year, right?
Bucks.
Yeah, knock it down.
Wait, you're talking about two different things.
The bland one, which we just glossed over, was a near...
Oh, I'm sorry, he's Hooker on the Hill Mary?
Yeah.
In Houston?
Yeah.
The Houston, okay, yeah.
Talk about your all-time backfires.
You're just out trying to steal a car and Crowley, doing your thing.
And then there's a six-year-old in the back of the car.
Now all of a sudden you're a child kidnapping suspect.
This happened yesterday.
Flock cameras.
Now they're going to put this in every story where they catch somebody.
every time they catch somebody using flock,
especially if they have a kid
involved in big seats.
By the way, Logan, you can feel free.
If you have a comment or you want to join,
just grab that mic.
Yeah, get yourself.
But you don't have to.
It's up to you.
If you've ever kidnapped a six-year-old,
we want to hear the story.
Would that be a good side business
to just leave a kid in the car
just as a theft deterrent?
Like a real kid?
Yeah, that's a great idea.
I'll loan you, my kid.
You run in Town East Mall.
What about a fake kid?
Instead of cars for kids, it's kids and cars.
Yeah.
Yeah, try to steal this.
I bet you don't.
It's certainly, this guy didn't want to steal this car with a kid.
Had he seen the kid, oh, so I think you're probably right.
So it's the positive to leaving your kid in the car in these hot summer months.
You're just saying the quiet part out loud.
Yeah.
It's like having a big dog.
Yeah, everybody's like, oh, that's a bad idea to leave your kid in the car.
Well, wait.
It's on.
It's going to be here when I get back.
Great idea, Blake.
Thank you.
You just know that this guy, like, he's like, oh, shit, I got in, and he's getting out of the parking lot.
And he's, oh, fuck.
Park the corolla back.
Yeah.
Unless he wanted a kid, too.
Then he pretends he was saving the kid because it was hot outside.
I think it would be funny if you, like, got arrested, and then you're like, what do I do now, God?
I'm talking to my impractical joker friends.
I don't know if this is actually going to happen or not.
We're not really, I don't know, contrary to at least what I think,
into the political space too much,
but they appear dead set on live streaming this execution
of this dude at Fort Hood next month.
Huh.
Yeah.
So is the thought...
It's in Texas, obviously.
Is this guy...
Did he do it for Allah or something?
Did he...
Oh, yeah.
He's a...
Yeah.
So...
So the question is then you make him a martyr.
If you televise this, then others will see that.
Right.
He's doing the finger thing like Brody was on Homeland.
Remember he was doing a little sign in his recovery.
He was a POW and they brought him out for his press conference.
Hey, we saved you press conference.
But he was doing little hand signs to a little signal to the.
sleeper cell.
Do you see there's a rumor that they're talking about having an all-female firing squad
to help prevent him from going to see Muhammad?
Tell your daughters.
Naked?
You too.
You too can be part of a firing squad.
All virgin.
First Ghostbusters.
But notice they're not participating in any playoff live executions.
I don't know if you're kidding or not, Chris.
No.
That's a, that's a, it's a, it's a rumor, but, you know, Trump can.
Culturally, very insensitive, but the idea of getting like five women who look like Pamela Anderson from barbed wire,
just huge tits hanging out.
Their bandelier goes through there.
Right.
Oh, yeah.
Man.
Yeah, they say it's going to go.
It's going to happen.
Are you going to watch?
What channel?
Is there a bidding war?
Pentagon Plus.
Yeah.
At Frank Kent Car dealership on Friday night in Fort Worth, one of their big ones,
they had the largest number of electric vehicles on fire at once.
That's not a record.
For Guinness?
At least, no, they're just saying that Fort Worth has seen at a car dealership.
There were like eight vehicles that just...
First of all, how does an electric vehicle catch on fire?
They're very hard to put out.
That's what the story says.
Well, he didn't ask that.
Well, the lithium ion batteries, do you remember when planes were blowing out of the sky?
No.
I remember them saying you couldn't have a battery for no reason.
Because planes were blown out of the sky.
Well, show me one plane that got blown out of the sky because someone had their cell phone battery.
This is like when you told us the paid Stewart died because of that cocktail shrimp dry ice.
Look it up.
Right.
Yeah, this is.
So the story is a story because one car caught on fire and it spread to seven, eight other cars.
And the Fort Worth Fire Chief, or whoever they talked to you for this story, comments on how these are impossible to put out.
They have a special electric vehicle blanket that they have to put over.
And as I know Dan is a guy who's fucking chock full of fire blankets.
Got two of them under the sink downstairs.
They're still in the original box.
It's going to take us about a half hour to open the box.
This has got childproof thing on it.
But yeah, we had to buy the fire blanket.
I remember when I was a kid.
A two pad.
A two pad. Let's get two just in case.
When I was a kid, people were like lighting hummers on fire at dealerships, like Greenpeace or, like, I feel that there was like eco-terrorism.
I told you I saw an electric hummer, didn't I?
Yeah, no, they're badass.
At least the commercials.
It was very confusing.
At first I was going to protest it.
and I didn't know what to do.
And then someone told me electric takes more coal anyway.
I was like, ah, damn, okay.
Back to protesting it.
Have you heard that?
No.
Like, to get the battery something,
they have to mine more coal than they do.
Ah, okay, just like how it all shakes out.
So it's actually, you're being worse to the environment
by driving an electric vehicle.
It's like, oh, okay.
I think about stuff like that when I, like,
when I wash my hands or use a paper towel
or you're getting on me, you're like, oh, you don't flush
every time. It's like, if I
just blow my nose or if I throw
a tissue in there, I feel like
a flush for every time is
somehow reducing
anything else I'm doing trying to
I wish we were provided
a number.
You know, this dumb shit they try to do with like
offsetting carbon credits, like the stuff that
obviously that's
not real. But a way that you could
every day be like, all right, what have I
done to try to save and then do i can i burn can i get a little crazy with it tonight because i'm in
the black these thoughts go through your head yes i think about it yeah every time i piss outside
like saving right there gosh all the money i've saved probably a nickel off the water bill easily
yeah yeah but add them up speaking of water bills there's a couple cities in texas that have had to
warn residents about a false online story claiming that parasites have been found in the city's tap water
And the reason for this is because it's a company that's selling like something you can use to purify your water.
It's great.
Yeah.
San Antonio, Beaumont.
It showed up in both these places and they're fielding calls.
It's wrong with our water.
Let's see here.
Dallas police officer, we have very scant details on this one, but I want to report early because we're going to follow up on.
on it. Senior Corporal Christopher Grawl was arrested last week. He faces charges of solicitation of
prostitution. Been with the department since 1990. Dang. That is a, don't you feel like past 30
years? Like it's like, all right, so at 35, I get my pension and I get to solicit prostitutes.
Well, something. Old guy then, huh? Or how old is he? You have to figure.
In October, when you select your benefits, that should be one of them.
60?
Yeah.
I elected the Louisville package.
What is solicit, like he was paying her?
Well, it doesn't say.
That's nice.
Well, I think it's like asking.
How bad do you want out of this ticket?
I got to be honest with you, it took me a really long time.
Probably until my late teens, early 20s, until I realized that the word solicitation didn't only apply to prostitution.
So when I would see those stickers, I was like, here?
I just can't.
I don't see that they would have ever had a problem with that year,
but I guess it's enough that this chick flay was overrun by hookers a year ago.
Or someone's front door will have it.
Right.
Were they just showing up?
They're not coming to my house.
I want to move to this neighborhood.
Come to my house.
Did you see the Shane sketch cop talk show?
I did.
that's not the controversial one is the hvac one
the hvac one was so good oh i didn't see that that was one of the best sketches i've seen
in a long time it's good like could have been good halfway through and then kept going
did you see the sneakers that's what i was trying to reference earlier that to me that's a
sketch format that is so undefeated it's similar to guys get together to uh decide how
young is too young to have sex with a girl and one guy's like 12 they're like you
you sicko.
No, but naming sneakers, Dan.
Like, they had these dress shoes.
They're loud and they're stiff.
And now we've got these rubber sole shoes.
You can run.
You can jump.
And then Shane's character's like, yes, and they're perfect for sneaking.
I was like, no, this is not a creepy shoe.
I didn't create it to be creepy, but just the basic thing of, like, somebody being like,
why are they called sneakers?
That's really weird.
Yeah.
And then all the guys disappeared.
He's like, oh, my God, it works.
Out in Lubbock, a justice of the peace as a county judge made unwanted sexual advances towards her.
These are...
Who did, the judge?
Yeah.
You got a county judge and a justice of the peace.
Okay.
She says that they had become good friends over the years.
If I had something great happened in court or something interesting happened in court, I'd go see him.
He'd talk to me, you know, out in the parking lot, whatever, in the halls.
He was just a really good friend that I trusted.
She said she would visit his office shortly after her brother died.
He gave me this big hug.
A huge hug.
It felt so good to have a friend just give me a hug like that.
About a week later, she said she was seeking support again, went back to his office.
He closed the door, hugged her, and kissed her on the mouth.
I was surprised, but I'm humiliated to say this.
But I kissed him back.
In retrospect, I don't know.
why. It's hard being a man, dude.
Yeah, I mean, what...
All the signals we got.
And especially, though, if she...
That is a weird bit.
I know it's hard, but...
But if he's putting out the vibe a little bit,
he thinks she's responding, right?
So he tries a kiss and she kisses him back.
Yeah?
It doesn't...
It's hard, I guess, before...
if you're not in the situation, but it's hard to see the, you know,
I suppose there is a power imbalance and that that person with the power should never.
You basically can't take the first move.
Right, or you might not have to make any move, yeah, but you would just,
you would certainly have to not initiate anything.
This woman, by the way, is not young.
Like, this woman, if you're talking about it, she's an elected official.
She's a justice county
county justice of the peace.
This is like a career attorney.
And her boss is older than her.
And hornier.
We're talking about...
What's her name?
Her name is Susan Rowley, R-O-W-L-E-Y.
His name is Curtis Parrish.
I think power makes people horny.
Well, this woman's not young.
What else are you going to do with it?
I see the dude.
I need to see the dude if they're a match.
They're only showing her.
Let's get one more and then we'll get out of here.
Oh, this one made me laugh.
Down in Kirby over the weekend,
an aggressive hive of bees stung a man multiple times.
Don't mess with the beehive.
It's not one of those passive hives of bees?
No.
This is more of an attack-the-ball-style bees.
Create turnovers.
Yeah.
A pressure-style bees.
A man, officers tried to help, was hiding in his truck when bees swarmed him.
Hiding.
Yeah. An exterminator
treated the hive to eliminate the queen.
That's what you've got to do.
Yeah. What a badass.
Head off its head.
That's a new name for when you throw a football around and tackle somebody.
Okay.
I like it.
Yeah.
Like and subscribe.
September 3rd, 20-ton UPS flight crashes due to lithium ion battery explosion.
All them planes that were
There's nearly two a week in the U.S.
You asked for evidence.
Of issues with lithium ion batteries on planes.
Two fires a week in the U.S.
So watch out, Dan.
Quit flying.
Don't fly with your car.
Franco and Franco brings us viewer mail birthdays.
If your car catches on fire,
you might have a little lawsuit on your hand.
You might get injured by said fire.
They are personal injury attorneys.
Certainly you're going to have some insurance companies.
That's not covered.
That's where they'll come in.
They will fight those insurance companies.
Doggedly.
They used to work for the insurance companies,
and they felt such a heavy weight of the guilt of not helping out the little man.
They're like, look, we're going to start our own thing.
You know what they said?
we're going to hang up our own shingle.
You ever hear that?
I have and I like it.
Did we do that?
Frankl and Frankel and Frankelfirm.com
and also dial 214 and then all threes.
Viewer mail birthday has got a few of them today.
We have Dear Uncle Hotmail,
lover of whale tails and snail trails.
I'd like to wish happy Yao Ming birthday
to my oldest son Michael Watts,
much like the chairman.
Switch your house.
Michael was born in China
at the Yang Shuo People's Hospital.
Despite his name,
you won't find him
gripping grain or switching lanes.
Nice.
Although he has been known
to tote that thing
while he lets his nuts hang.
Instead, he's always reading
and playing video games
like some kind of goddamn nerd.
In seriousness, I'm insanely proud of this kid.
I hope he has an amazing birthday playing Arc Raiders all day from John Watts.
Hell yeah.
You'd be proud of that kid.
DBA, Texas Donkey Show.
Nice.
Every time I see that guy, I want to ride him.
Big boy.
Just want to get up on it like a dinosaur or something, you know, just kind of...
Forty-second birthday for Joe Z.
Day 2 or 3 subscriber, but I don't know what number because nobody cares.
Hey.
I didn't get woken up in that special way
because you don't want no D-sucking wife.
Gosh.
Hold on there, player.
Teach their own.
Yeah.
Leaders, Dan making fun of Mike Tomlin
and Blake's voice.
Jake crashing an NWACP convention
and networking in the hotel lobby.
Lupita and her reporting of a fire
that she set at the state fair.
I don't even know what that is.
Fagely, sounds familiar.
More of everyone except that one girl from that thing.
That's from Joe.
Next, I'd like to wish my mother, Dina,
the happiest of 69th birthday.
His birthday is actually Wednesday,
but if you read this on the air Tuesday,
I can include it in Wednesday night's episode of DZTV,
airing at 10 p.m. on Fox 4 Plus.
She records every episode.
She will often fall asleep with the show playing
in order to, in her words, help juice those numbers.
Oh, thanks.
You're the best, love you mom, from Michael Snap.
Nice.
So let me get this straight.
He's going to put this shit on the TV show?
Not now.
He's got to beep it.
I'm just saying, we're going to put today's birthdays on the TV show because it's his mom's birthday.
Just this one.
This is what we're doing?
This is what we're doing with our TV show.
This one?
So we're not paying him.
So he must be doing this, like, this is.
The bonus he gets if he doesn't get paid.
Oh.
We're not paying him well then.
It's kind of the liberty we give them.
We do?
Sure.
I'm just saying we're putting birthday shoutouts on the TV show.
He does a lot of hard work for us.
If he wants to take two minutes from our show, have that it.
That's your attitude.
I would like our employees to be happy.
Yeah.
If that makes him happy, go for it.
All right.
Hey, you guys have neutered me.
I'm not going to say what I think over here.
I'd fire the guy for a lot.
Since when have you been neutered?
That can't be done.
I think caring, simply trying to neuter you.
Simply caring about your family's birthday is gay enough,
much less emailing in and putting it on a TV show.
I mean, what are we talking about?
She is 69.
Come on.
Dear President.
We should be putting nothing but titties on that.
A bunch of girls jumping up and down.
I'm outvoted.
Snap, don't do it.
On a trampoline?
Dude, Stein's a beer.
You know.
Beer.
Love beer.
Totally.
I love beer and boobs.
Right.
A couple chicks make it out.
And your mom's birthday.
Oh, and happy birthday, Mom.
Will all this make it on the shit?
Now I want it to make it on the show.
Nah.
I want this.
I want this to make it on the show.
Dear President of the Pounding Pad.
Yeah. Why were we moved back to 10?
Fucking bad boys.
That's why.
You can't control us.
Control the dumb zone?
Fox 4 Plus.
Too hot for the 9P hour.
You already don't?
You think this is the mom game?
No way.
Steve Noviello could never.
He'd hold up that little paddle.
The no.
I'm not.
They're like, should we put him on it?
No, VL.
No.
President of Pony Patti, I'd like to wish a very special lady.
She knows who she is.
It's me, Adrian.
I've always found that to be a very hot name.
I don't know if this is a...
Dude?
This is my Dirk plus Troy birthday,
or what I like to call a Turk trio.
I don't get it, but 49's a good age.
My leader is Jake.
However, after consolidating my Hall Pass list
and realizing we are more twin than twin flame...
That's fair.
I'm a good friend, too.
Like a gay.
I took that Luke...
Luke Lea moment to replace him,
Soroy, and Post Malone with Brick.
Okay.
Keep your fantasies to yourself.
Happy birthday to me and RTDB
from Dr. Adrian Hodgen.
Somehow that feels fake, but...
I didn't remember any...
I don't know what any of that means.
And I have, Hey, Dan.
I'm looking for a shout-out
for my husband's birthday today, October 13th.
His name is Colt Tusher.
He's been listening to you guys.
every day from our military base
here in Italy for the past four years.
Hey.
Nice.
It's some weapons.
Did you see that Mexican guy with the Italian accent?
You know I did.
You know I did.
I can't.
It's my favorite genre of content.
I think he'd be grateful for any drop
because I have, for the first time in 10 years,
remember to send an email.
He has literally listened every year to be disappointed,
only to be disappointed.
I set an alarm and everything for it on my phone.
Man, what a wife.
Didn't take the trash out, though.
She says, I hope I did this right,
signed a desperate and hopeful.
A desperate wife.
That's the kind we love.
That's Sarah Tusher.
Good job, Sarah.
A drop.
Okay, I got a drop for you.
It's time for cool, not cool.
One of my buddies who was telling us about his search terms.
That was one of them.
What?
Desperate.
That teaches.
On this day in history.
Appreciative.
Don't you like reluctant?
No.
Reluctant was always lurking.
Crying?
No.
Oh.
Oh, why not?
We condemn.
Beg?
Hey, I, uh, we're not super.
late here or anything. I got through most
of the Jerry interview this morning, looking
for the money for our sports talk.
But I missed this, and it's going
kind of viral, so I'm going to play this side unseen, okay?
Yeah.
Ryan believed that to the... Oh, wait, that's not it.
Let's see. Is this it?
Okay, keep going, and I'll see if I can find it.
So far,
sounds pretty good. I'll get you.
We're hearing a lot of shit.
Qualis roofing, you may have heard in the open there,
brings us
today in history.
I put it here because I knew Brian Evans would be sitting here
and getting excited and he'd talk all about Qualis Roofing
because he is the owner, the president, the grand pooh-bah of Qualis Roofing
and then Brian isn't here today because he got the Blake flu.
Brian is here in spirit.
They want to face Blake.
I'm the fake Brian.
Brian is here in spirit.
Brian is always here because of the roof on our heads.
Yeah, that's right.
He's always with us.
He lives in our hearts.
Like wherever you are, at least in this house, you're with Brian from Qualus Roofing.
QualisGC.com. Is that their website?
Correct.
817, 500, 900,000,0008.
If you get yourself a new roof, you'll get a sit-in.
Come hang out.
If you get an inspection, you get some free merch.
They'll deal with the insurance company.
All right, let's see if this works now, Dan.
One of my greatest memories, and this is not the area you're talking about.
I think they're talking Green Bay, just setting up for the Packers' trip.
One of my greatest memories, and this is not the area you're talking about,
was after the game against Green Bay, maybe 25 years ago,
all of my grandchildren were very small, four or five years old,
and I had a car full of them.
We'd been up to watch Green Bay in Green Bay.
It was so cold.
And as we left the stadium, we won.
as we left the stadium, we were in a long, big car.
And I saw this lady headed toward the car.
And she comes up beside the car running.
She's so upset as a Green Bay fan.
And she was pretty hefty.
And she turns around and pulls it all down
and just plants it right up against the window.
And everybody inside was in horror and couldn't believe it.
And then her skin stuck to the window.
It was so cold.
And when she pulled away, there was just a big print sitting there on the side of the hour.
There were about 10 or 11 of us in the car, and we can still see it today.
That's incredible, dude.
Can Jimmy Haslam do that?
Incredible.
You know they all joke about it every Thanksgiving.
I mean, really he's big old ass with a cream bay on the car.
Are we to believe he still has the same car 20 years later or whatever?
No, I think he burned in their minds type thing.
Anyway,
hefty.
When you need a roof on your home.
They're the ones with the drum.
Put a roof on the mother.
Put a roof on there.
Quietly's g.c.
Today is Tuesday, October 13th.
Remember, guys.
On this day in
1972, Uruguay,
Uruguay, you're a gay,
you're a gay, ha ha.
Right?
Fun, fun thing to do when you're a kid.
Wouldn't be fun at this age, though.
Uruguayan, flight,
a flight from Uruguay.
Carrying 45 people crashed in the Andes Mountains.
People eating.
Survivors resorted to
feeding off the remains of some of the dead in order to stay alive until they were rescued over two months later.
When do they start eating?
I think I'll just die.
Don't you feel you could live off the land somehow?
Like before you get...
It's all frozen.
You're in a mountain.
It's all rock.
Yeah, I guess it's true.
There's no berries.
No crickets.
Like, because I could get by...
I could get by Fear Factor bug eating, I think, before I'd...
Yeah.
You don't have a choice.
I don't know.
I'm not going to eat a dude.
Ready to go.
You don't be a dude now?
You won't be a dude now?
Got to eat ladies?
I'm not going to eat them either.
On this day in 2010, rescuers in Chile used a missile-like escape capsule.
They pulled 33 men one by one to fresh air and freedom.
69 days after they trapped in a collapsed mine, a half mile underground.
When I believe we played Texas Ranger or Chilean miner.
Yeah.
That's the origin of many such games.
How well you knew the Texas Rangers?
As they were making world series runs.
The next year.
Yeah.
On this day in 2015, folks,
Lamar Odom hospitalized after he was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel,
we have spoken to the man who revived him right here on this program.
I need to have him on again.
That was fun.
On this day in 2016, NBC News removes Billy Bush from its talent roster amid backlash from the infamous 2005 Access Hollywood tape with Donald Trump.
Jeez, your girl's hot as shit.
That's not the end of this.
So the start of this was in the break.
Now you learn this, but it's not over.
Stay tuned.
On this day in 2021, at the age of 90, William Shatner, you may know him as Captain Kirk from
Star Trek rode into space and back on the Jeff Bezos Blue Origin,
becoming the oldest person to travel in space.
But it was kind of the lower, right?
It's not low space.
You don't really call it real?
Fake space.
Condom space.
And we go now to October 13th, this day in Dumb Zone history.
It was this day last year.
Dan spilled rice on his shirt and talked to his neighbors at a neighborhood party.
That is a naf
I saw when I got home
This big thing on my shirt
And I'm always wearing a black shirt
Not a worse
Contrast
No, bad friends, right?
They didn't tell me
I just
I want to hear what they said after you left
What was on his shirt
And then Clayton watched wrestling at 7 a.m.
Says we need to have premier live events
And look at us
A year of PLEs under our belt
A huge year.
Now all we have to do is get to Saudi Arabia or whatever what he was watching at 7 a.m. was.
They're having trouble.
I can't be bought.
Facing backlash.
Just try it.
Call my boss.
We just, we want some damn front lash.
We don't even.
I just want someone to give a shit even at the beginning, much less backlash.
Like, a billboard or something.
Man, it's so simple but funny.
That's a good one.
That's dumb zone history.
We named PLEs.
It's a great one.
Elsewhere, we have two-time birthdays now.
Two-time NFL GM of the year.
Jerry Freaking Jones.
Jerry Jones is 84.
Wow.
2016, obviously one of them.
I don't know the other one.
I mean, did they have that award back in the day?
Did he win it in 95 or something?
What's the other one?
He's won it twice
In pretty recent
They've won a lot of games
Yeah pretty recent memory
Do you have that info Blake?
Says
2014
2010
You say 20?
Okay, never mind
Keep going
I just said 210
Will McLeigh 60
What is my top copy point for
Will McLeigh
Can you guess
You're in the new Lou Ed game
You're with me
You spend all this time with me
We've done shows together
There's a possibility that you're confused about something,
but he was part of the Hey Man,
or the Hey Man What's Up Rodeo.
Now my first note is he coached Diallo Burks.
Diallo Burks, okay.
I was going to say, y'all had a coach show with him, right?
When he was with the Desperados?
I didn't.
Okay.
Someone did.
I thought you were going to say that he was the coach
that answered the phone when we called one time.
Oh, he was.
Actually the Allen Americans.
It wasn't him.
It was a different guy.
Are we good with the audio?
Is it just my headset?
What happened?
I just hear a buzz, but if it's not going out, I don't care.
Quincy Carter, 49.
Speaking of calling.
God, how many Cowboys luminaries?
Yeah.
Derek Harper, 65.
Devon A. Chain, 25.
Ouch.
Aggie.
It hurt.
Brian Hoyah!
It's 41.
Brian Dawkins, 53.
Very scary.
Hardest hitness.
Clemson.
Beast.
Jerry Rice, 64.
You know?
Imagine his numbers, man.
Caught bricks.
Off the second story of a building.
For real?
That's what they said.
Oh, to like soft, soft hands it?
I probably made it about two bricks.
I was like, all right.
I'm not a ball player, folks.
What if we start just one foot up?
Yeah.
With like a foam brick.
Oh, Trevor Hoffman is 59.
Logan, what do you think of him?
Nasty.
He's in the Hall of Fame with a 28 war.
He could probably still strike out some dudes.
Did he come out to Metallica?
Inner Sam, Man.
Oh, yeah.
Did he?
Yeah.
So sick.
Before everybody else had, like, epic closing songs
and the lights would flicker.
Yeah, he was awesome.
Should closers be in the Hall of Fame?
Yeah.
Okay.
Give us a call.
Nancy Kerrigan, 57.
Big horse teeth.
Doc Rivers is 65.
Horse teeth.
Paul Simon is 85.
Actor Demand Wilson is 80.
I mean, if there's ever going to be a reason to play it,
Want to go Tuesday treat?
Yeah?
Yeah.
Find the long one.
Now, hold on a minute.
I didn't say colored people.
Sammy Hagar is 79.
Van Halen, not Van Hagar.
Caleb McLaughlin is 25.
You know who he is.
That's Lucas from Stranger Things.
Ah, yeah.
That one reminds me of when you could go to the arcade.
Tisha Campbell is 58.
Yep.
Matt Walsh is 62.
The politics guy?
He's no one.
He was in.
Oh.
Yeah.
Old school, I think, too.
He's been in a lot.
Alan Covert is 62.
Oh, that guy's from Upright Citizens Brigade.
Matt Walsh?
Yeah, he's great.
I didn't know.
I should probably give Veepe a chance, but this guy's awesome.
Everything I've heard about VEP sounds great.
It's fantastic.
And I just, I don't know.
Same thing.
You don't know which one they're making fun of.
which party they're making fun of.
Yeah, that's what I've heard that too.
Yeah.
Ty Walker says DeMond Wilson died in January.
I guess he met Elizabeth.
He finally got to go out on Friday night.
Okay, we're...
The dumb zone has just learned...
Talking with DeMond Wilson.
That DeMond Wilson has died.
Legendary ticket guest.
Never saw 80.
That's what's sad.
You were always saying it.
I know.
I was like, if DeMal Wilson could just get to 80, my whole life will be complete.
Alan Covert is 62.
I don't know who he is, but I saw his bio today, and I'm like, I got to bring this guy up.
Because Killer was always trying to make me watch this movie.
It says he's the lead guy in Grandma's Boy.
Yeah, he's a Adam Sandler bit player guy.
Okay, that guy's funny.
Yeah.
Okay.
He's the caddy in Happy Gilmore.
That's Willis Al Torres.
No, the original, you dumbass.
That's Henry's...
Pat Day is 75.
Grandma's boy's actually not bad, man.
I mean, it's certainly happy Madison, but...
I score? Did I break?
It's better than Beer Fest, and I know that was the other thing he was pushing at the time.
Yeah, but it's a sweet race car bed.
It's got Nick Swardson.
Pat Day is 75.
Pat Day is one of the great jockeys in American history.
history. So what does that mean, you would say? Right?
Ride horse good. What do you think his career earnings were?
I wouldn't even begin to know, I mean...
$298 million. Shut off. He's 4'10. He made $300 million.
For riding horses. Well, they call them patient pat. And they didn't even do, they don't even do
tricks. They just run. Would it matter if they did? It would stay. I mean, yeah, you know, like, there's a
reason some sports are more popular than just racing, right? We do cool shit. We have guys like this
that can throw the ball really far and really fast, not just run. That's what I'm saying, is if
you're going to make $300 billion, you better be making the horse be covered two or something.
I'm not tuning in if a guy can just stand up on the horse and do a flip.
I think that's better than what they do now. That's insane. I did not know they were making
fucking Clayton Kirsham.
Sasha Barron Cohen is 55.
He's back.
Another movie.
People are mad.
We got another Borat movie?
Yeah.
Ollie G.
Yeah.
Do we have a Henry birthday?
All right, Henry.
Grab that for a moment.
Here's today's edition of who Henry is.
Henry is our 22-year-old intern, and so he's trying to get the younger kids involved here.
This isn't as much for the younger kids, but I think this will be a good one.
If this is our dumb zone birthday today, I'm going to kick your ass.
It's not.
It's not.
Okay, reality star Bill Klein is 52.
He starred in the TLC series The Little Couple.
He was the husband?
Yeah.
Okay.
By far the biggest of the four.
That show was definitely...
There has to be a tallest, you know?
What's wrong with you?
It was a show that T.C. and I would put on and just kind of vibe out.
She was like a doctor.
In Henry's words, he's the...
bigger one.
She was a doctor.
Spot the line.
And they had,
I think they had normal size children.
They adopted a couple kids.
Yeah.
Full size?
Small size.
Okay.
Fun size.
Okay.
All right.
Little tidbit.
Thank you.
Okay.
Looking this guy.
All right.
And our Dumbzone birthday of the day.
Fleeke your thought.
37 years old.
Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.
Oh, my God.
Is she the hottest congress member ever?
My pants.
And with all the fake stuff.
Yeah.
Is that really her?
Is she that hot?
Or are they enhancing her on these pictures I see?
She's pretty hot, man.
She's pretty hot.
And I heard she just got, like, broke up with her fiancé or something.
Yeah.
That's what they say.
And she'd really like to reach the kids with podcasts?
You're just the guy.
My daughter's way younger than her.
Yeah.
Right?
We'd all fit.
It'd be perfect.
And my daughter's real lefty, so she'd be like, oh, this is great.
I love this scenario.
My second Christmas, it'll be at AOC's.
Yeah.
AOC and Dan MC.
Yeah, and then she'll be like, why, oh, I thought you, I thought you're a socialist.
The Beltway Report.
Who is this mysterious man scene?
with AOC.
Like we're holding hands.
I'll hold hands with her.
Yeah.
Like they catch us out of the coffee shop.
Who is this man with a piece of rice on his shirt?
Walking at Lowe's.
They'll be like, he must have a huge, right?
They'll be like, it has to be that.
Yeah.
I've heard his show.
It's not him.
Born in the Stay Now Dead, Melinda Dillon, that's the mom and a Christmas story.
Yeah.
You hate that movie, right?
I watch it every year.
Oh, you like it.
He hates it.
Someone hates it.
I don't think I've, I don't respect it, no.
I just found out it's not a wonderful life, which I do like.
And dead on the stay still dead.
Bruce Suter, you know who that is, Logan?
Know the name.
Who is he?
What did he do?
Anything about him?
Baseball.
Bingo.
Hall of fame pitcher, a 24 war.
He was also a closer.
He might have been the first closer put into the Hall of Fame.
I mean, I don't really like what you're doing,
And I'm not just saying this because there's a ball player here.
But you're going to have to figure out some way to quantify this.
I know.
Because those guys, I mean, that's just a weird.
You can't have a position in your game that is excluded from your hall if you're going to have the hall.
So either they got to calculate closer war differently or you need to shut up about it.
I'm happy to shut up about it.
I don't really care.
It's a weird.
And that's what happened.
I mean, relievers, right?
Yeah.
How many relievers, like straight up relievers are in the Hall of Fame?
There can't be many.
Mariana Rivera, maybe Bruce Suter,
but I'm sure Bruce Suter back in that day probably started as a starter.
Right.
I don't know.
Are you trying to defame Bruce Suter on his death day?
I know.
Let the guy lie.
Well, it's what we do here, man.
No one is safe on the dumb zone.
Anyway, now.
Our closing remarks are, yeah, realestate.dumzone.com.
Go to that website.
Your one-stop shop for all of your home needs.
But that's the way to stick, man.
Was that what you were trying?
How come you left the game?
Was it injury or just?
I mean, injury kind of opened the door to me leaving.
I was 29, had Tommy John surgery and kind of at the back of my career anyways.
I played two more years in AAA and still an all right,
but just realized like, all right, it's a young man's game now.
29 is not young.
And you're in AAA and you're like, ah.
Yeah.
I have kids back home, like starting kindergarten.
But if you could just lock in, like, if you can get in that rotation of,
there's just this huge amount of just relievers that go from team to team
that end up on 10 or 15 teams in their career.
But you end up turning around and you're like,
Whoa.
You know, with the finances these days, this guy I've never heard of has $17 million in the bank now.
Or there are taxes, NBA players.
You ever see those NBA players complain about the taxes?
No.
Oh, okay.
NBA players apparently are the only ones who get taxed, and that's why they were paid $350 million but are now broke.
It's definitely the taxes.
Agents, taxes.
But, yeah, like, I remember Bassing.
You know Mike Bassett?
or no.
You know who he is, at least?
Yeah.
He's a Rangers announcer, but he's a former Ranger pitcher,
but he's the pitcher that gave up Barry Bond's home run to pass Babe Ruth,
or Hank Aaron.
And just his struggles and, like, he just hoped to hang on as a lefty.
Like, just bring me in for one out.
Just, I guess he couldn't get that one out.
That was a thing.
Our boy, Rob's, the Strindsney, was not healthy all year with the Brewers.
that we talked to in spring training
and they let him go like two days ago
or he opted for free agency
and I read some profile
I was like this guy will sign
yeah he's like a 33 year old lefty
he's gonna end up with 12 years
I talked to him just the other day
for real?
Yeah we went to high school together
For real?
Yeah, super cool dude
Yeah
We met him out there and it was
You know it's unfortunate
He didn't get to play this year
But he was just a very chill guy
Yeah
We're bruebers guys
Zistrisny
Is this Shrisny
Easiest name to say in baseball
So you went to high school with him?
You're both on the same team?
No, he was like four,
four, maybe five years younger than me.
No, three or four years younger than me.
So we never played on the same team.
Are you the best player that was ever on your high school team?
This guy's got way more service time than I do now.
Rob?
But I was, yeah.
Okay, were you like shortstop and stuff too?
Third base pitcher, yeah.
Okay.
That's usually how it is.
Your great hitter in high school.
I smashed it, yeah.
And then you go to...
I'm on Wednesday,
and I, it's, you know,
watch me and Cindergard go out there
with why I will.
That's got to be...
The people just know what's coming.
Well, I play left center.
Cindergars plays right center.
And we just assume pegs are in.
So we're just...
Wait a second.
You're on a softball team?
Yeah.
Their dad's club.
Dad's club.
Features.
Major leaguers all over the place?
I started recruiting a couple years ago.
Who's the Ranger reliever that was on that?
Or that he knows.
He was out at the golf tournament.
Mike Adams.
Mike Adams.
Is he on your team?
No, I think these are too bad.
Okay.
Damn, that'd be awesome.
That's a guy we ought to check in with right now.
Oh, yeah, huge Cowboys fan.
Big Cowboys fan.
Oh, see how sad he is?
We need to get Blake on that team, let him break.
Do you care about the Cowboys?
It's my team, but God damn.
Yeah.
Keep the faith.
Well put.
Keep the faith.
You've been in a locker room.
You know it's always darkest before dawn.
That's right.
So what is, we understand real estate.dumzone.com is like a three-headed monster.
What is your head, Logan?
Yeah, so kind of you split the metroplex and a half.
I cover most of the western side, right?
So northeast Tarrant County where we're at right now,
all the way over to west Fort Worth, down to Granbury.
You can see on the map there.
That light shade of greens kind of the area, me and my team cover.
The light shade purple side is.
Chris and there's kind of divide and conquer.
And what's Brian Evans?
What's Beva Holmes do with this?
It's a three.
So this website, you go there and you're going to deal with dumb zone guys.
Whoa, it really makes me emotional.
It's okay.
I start talking about people that support the dumb zone.
You're almost there.
You're almost there.
But Brian isn't like a real estate.
Like you guys are selling real estate.
Like if I'm looking for a place, I can give you the specs.
You'll look for that for me, all that, blah, blah, blah.
Yeah, I mean, the easy breakdown is, you know,
know, he and I, Logan and I, handle kind of the retail side of the world, people looking to
buy and sell their homes traditionally. But Beva caters exclusively to the investors and people
who actually need to sell their home quickly. And so if you're a first-time investor or a 50th-time
investor, you hit them up and they have a, you know, rotation of homes that they have under contract
for investors. But if you want to reach out to them and tell them what you want, tell them what
you're looking for, what your budget is, and they'll be on the lookout for it. Because if you're
an investor and you're trying to buy off the MLS, you're burning money and you're already late.
They've got stuff that's not on there. Oh yeah. Everything they have is off market like that.
And so, yeah, it's, and Brian said it before, you know, whether you're a first-time investor or 50th time,
Yeah, using Beva, yeah, they're a great partner.
I mean, you guys know this as much as anything.
You know, when you're in the, when you have an opportunity to work with Brian,
that dude's usually the brightest dude in the room.
And so, yeah, he and that whole team, Mani and Lisa, they're just fantastic to work with.
Did you get right into real estate?
What was your professional?
Did you have any sort of like identity crisis or like, what do I do?
What was your journey like?
It's a good question.
When I was 29 and had Tommy John surgery, I was on a one-year deal with Oakland.
And I kind of had surgery right in the middle of the year, actually on July 3rd.
And so, I mean, in baseball, you get paid during the season.
So once the last game's played, your paycheck stopped.
Even if you're in the playoffs, like, you're not getting paid.
You're just waiting for a playoff bonus at the end of the World Series.
So I kind of, it was perfect timing just for, I just had my wife had just
had our daughter. We had two kids at home and just got to kind of like soak up that like lazy
post-surgery, watch TV, snuggle with my kids on the couch. And then like a month later, I was like,
oh, damn, I'm not going to get paid anymore like two months. And I'm not going to call up, you know,
my financial guy and ask for money and bleed that and has to egg dry. So kind of had like a heart-to-heart
with my wife. Like, all right, what's our plan B here? You know, like if I go back to plan and I suck,
what's the backup plan, how we're going to, you know, make money.
And her background was commercial real estate before I made it to the big league.
So it was super easy for her.
She renewed her license, started shopping around at brokerages, and I got mine.
And 2020 hit.
COVID went crazy.
That was our market just went insane.
And that was our first year in the business.
And honestly, like, it was a blessing in disguise because I would have been sitting at home.
You know, there was no minor league season that year.
And that's where I would have been.
after surgery.
So we ended up selling a lot more real estate than we thought we would and said,
all right, this is kind of got something here.
And again, I went on to play two more seasons after that.
So 21 and 22, I was kind of just, I mean, real estate's, you know, 90% of it,
you just need a computer and a phone.
So my wife was boots on the ground here.
We hired a couple agents to kind of help her out.
And it made this, it made the step away from baseball easier, you know,
because I had something back home that was going good that I knew if I put everything into this,
I can really make like a career out of it and support our lifestyle and all that.
So had I not had that, then yeah, absolutely, I would have been, what am I doing with my life?
I keep playing baseball until I'm 40 in AAA.
That's crazy.
The timing worked out that way because you always worry, like, am I doing it too early?
Am I doing it too late?
Yeah.
I mean, I get, we talk to Brandon Aubrey every week.
I just, I don't know, you hate thinking about the end of the career.
You hate thinking about, like, how it's, how it's going to go.
But did you, you did Korea for a little bit, did you?
Did you Korea for a year?
Yeah.
That was awesome.
Like 10 out of 10.
Loved the experience.
And that's kind of how, I mean, I went, 2015, I was in the big leagues with the Rangers
of the Mets, 16, the Mets the whole year, 17, kind of up and down with Baltimore.
And they ended up DFA and me at the end of the season.
My agent called and said, hey, well, you.
thing about going over to korea i was like i'm all in like my wife loves traveling she's super open-minded
i'll i'll eat anything talking about eating bugs fear factors like that's legit like on the table
there before some of the meals um no man it was it was super cool um my my son turned one year old
while we were over there did like the full-blown traditional Korean first birthday had
damn he was dressed to like the tens and you know his what they call hambock or something like that
Like the traditional?
Yeah.
That's so cool, dude.
It was just like an awesome experience.
But our team sucked.
So they like canned everybody after the end of that season, new GM, new head coach, new pitching coach.
You only get three Americans per team over there.
So all of us were gone.
And then that was when I came back and signed a minor league deal with the A's and had surgery.
You know who Brooks Raley is?
Yeah.
He lives in this neighborhood.
Yeah.
I don't know if you guys know it.
in the same little area where Shin Suu
Chiu bought two lots and then built a giant house.
Brooks Raley did the same thing.
Yeah, he just finished building it not too long ago.
Yeah.
So we played against each other in college.
We played against each other in Korea.
Yeah, I was going to mention.
He spent a few years in Korea.
That's cool.
Lote giant.
Yeah, because I always try to tell these guys...
What were you?
NC Dino.
I don't know as much about Korea as I do Japan,
but just the crowds.
It looks like college football.
Is their number one sport over there?
chance, the coordination of it.
Like, it just, it's nothing like
American-based. What do they say
about North Korea while you're there?
Big fans. Are they, like,
is it a thing? Always looming over here? They didn't even talk about
it really. Like, I don't even realize it's
a thing that they're next-door neighbors.
But it was cool.
That's awesome. I really enjoyed that experience.
Who is the Baylor football coach
when you were there? Art Biles.
Okay. My freshman
year was his first year there. RG3
was a freshman. So I got to see
like the transition of just the worst of the worst
into being like a top 10 powerhouse
and now we're kind of, yeah, they're like,
is this real when it first happened?
Yeah, ESPN had to shut it down.
They're like, this is not a big enough school to be good.
That's, oh, ooh, okay.
No money.
There's no money selling a block B, you.
All right, I love it.
I take him.
When you played with the Mets,
was that the year that Bartolo Colon hit his home run?
Yeah, we were in San Diego.
San Diego. I've searched, like, I wish I could see a camera angle of the bullpen because we celebrated like we won the World Series.
I'm hugging Jerry Blevins jumping up and down. Like, we just won game seven.
What kind of, what was Bartola Colon like?
Oh, just the silent assassin. He never talked, but he was the funniest guy on the team.
He'd walk around with a foam roller, the big foam roller, and he'd bang it on the wall. And it just, like a gunshot would go off.
Everybody would jump. He'd just start giggling and then walk away.
He's all fat and he doesn't look like he should be a professional athlete.
No, he's incredible athlete.
Have you ever seen the video of him when he, we were in Miami?
He filled it a bunt or lightly ground ball, like lightly hit ground ball up the first baseline.
He fields it, casually throws it behind his back to our first baseman, keeps jogging to the,
doesn't even look, just keeps jogging to the dugout was the third out in the evening.
Just had, just like.
Just has the feel.
Yeah, he was, he's a character, man.
All right, that was his only home run.
You had one hit ever in Major League Baseball.
Uh-huh.
Give us the whole...
Double.
Oh.
Yeah, why stop here?
Who was off, all that?
And it was...
What was the guy?
Your last year, right?
So you've had all these at bat?
It was 20...
I think it was 2015.
No, it was 2016.
But we were playing the Phillies.
I had a spot start.
I'm trying to remember who the guy was.
You don't even remember the pitcher.
No.
Boy.
I made him sign of the bat, though.
I'm kidding.
I didn't.
But no, he threw me a first fastball inside.
It broke my bat.
And I fellated down the right field line.
And I was like, oh, hell yeah.
I'm fast.
I'm going to get a double out of this.
So I round first base, and I get close to second base.
And I'm like, oh, shit, I forgot how to slide.
It's been eight years since I've slid.
And I didn't think I needed to slide anyways because I'm fast, right?
No, dude, I almost got tagged out at second base.
My coaches were like, I mean, the commentary from it's hilarious.
They're like, he looked like an athlete until the slide.
Well, I wonder if we can find that.
Oh, you can find it.
I got it saved on my phone.
Oh, okay.
Go to YouTube, Logan Verrett, double versus Phillies.
It'll pull it right up.
You weren't drawn a lot of walks.
I'm looking at it now.
Yeah.
No, dude, I had to face like, I faced Cecee Sabathia in freaking Sunday night baseball on ESPN.
and base is loaded.
He throws me a backdoor slider.
Three-two count.
I go down looking.
I think I just...
I face Scherzer two weeks in a row.
That's awesome.
I'm facing a Hall of Fame guys.
They're like, when should get a hit?
Oh, you got it?
On the home run by Cespitus.
And he takes one the other way.
That's going to fall in for his first major league hit.
And Verrett's going to try for two.
The throw by David Lowe to second base.
You didn't say it?
It looked like you were looking, and then you...
leg hit and it's a double.
This part right here.
Well, ball jams him a little bit, the little inside out swing.
And what was interesting is that Verrett in the first time he hit, hustled down the first
baseline on that error.
And here, when it was fumbled a little bit by low and right field, he took off.
He looked like a player the whole way, except for the slide.
That was my one hit.
Let him handle your real estate.
Why don't you?
Realestate.dumzone.com.
Hey, can I throw this out there?
If we need a sponsor for Blake's movie reviews,
that's not.
The crowd, the chat is alive every day with Wins Blake's new review coming out.
And so we need that.
You'd like to let Lop realestate.dumzone.com onto that.
Either that or any Sarah segment.
I mean, you guys know my affection for her.
Yeah, it's a little weird.
He's not alone, though.
Yeah.
At least he's up front about it.
