Starting point is 00:00:01 Check, check, check, check, one, two, three. Broadcasting, reading an email. Yeah, these, when you don't know what to do about a car. Got an email a while back from Robert, who said, I've been wanting a new car. Matthew at Fairlees. Gave service you've been talking about. Super easy to do. I told him what I wanted.
Starting point is 00:00:21 And within a week, boom, sweet-looking Chevy Tahoe right in my driveway, delivered by Matthew himself. Danny, who is the president of Fair Lease, worked with me to lower my payment. I highly recommend. That is from Robert, a listener to this program, one of many who have been helped out by Fairlease.org. Many of our friends in the business game, including our friend who's in the football business, Brandon Aubrey and his family got their vehicles from Fair Lease, from Connor and from Nick, who you can see in our Fair Lease, Dumb Zone commercials.
Starting point is 00:00:54 The brand is strong at 972-705-48-1-14. ask for Connor, ask for Nick, or just go start this process very easily online because dealerships are a thing of the past at fairlease.org. Fair lease, when you don't know what to do about a car, because car stuff is hard. You don't need a dealership, baby. All right, happy Monday. If you celebrate, if you have a case of the Mondays, today we are broadcasting live to tape from high atop my garage. But shout out to the Game Day Men's Health Studio, which is downtown Dallas, gameday. Dot Dumbzone.com.
Starting point is 00:02:09 I'm Dammitam. I'm Jake Kev. I'm T.C. Fleming. Goody CK. Henry is here on the couch as well, keeping it warm. Where tonight's comedian Jimmy Nelson will be chasing Julie Dobbs around that couch, I believe. That's good. I need to talk to Jimmy.
Starting point is 00:02:36 Well, it'll be great. You'll be able to talk to Chase Daniel tonight, if you'd like. He's going to join us on the stream. He's just telling T.C. about that. Yeah, for a second time. He and I also spoke after the Cotton Bowl in 2009. Oh, yeah. What?
Starting point is 00:02:53 Is it just a one-on-one? There was a couple other people there. Deep introspective dive into his thoughts. Yeah, he had kind of a muted stat line for him. him and I was wondering if kind of hometown jitters playing backward. It's a good question. He didn't really seem to think so. That's okay.
Starting point is 00:03:15 That's okay. On reflection, I don't either. No, no, that means it is a good question. Wait, you were a media guy? T.C. was doing what? I was an intern for the Plano Star Courier, and I'd been working on paid really hard for a long time, and they said, here's your special little reward. We got you a press pass to the Cotton Bowl.
Starting point is 00:03:33 It was awesome. It was so cool. Were you fired up? I was split up. I was split. blown away. I love college football. I love the cotton bowl. It was one of the last ones at the Cotton Bowl. So at the time, you would have signed a deal for, I don't need to get paid. Let's go. Just get me into college football games and we're good. Absolutely. Yeah. That started a trend of many
Starting point is 00:03:56 years of TC collecting Cotton Bowl bags. Probably the world's foremost leader in possession of Cotton Bowl memorabilia given away by the Cotton Bowl. Merch. Yes. They're their gift. They give the press a gift. Yeah. And it's so good every time.
Starting point is 00:04:14 I've gotten Amazon Echo Dot, a Yeti Tumblr. He did it like eight years. He was the Cotton Bowl guy for a long time at the ticket. Yeah. We can get credentials, right? You want to be it again? I still get the emails. And every time I think, I should just send them.
Starting point is 00:04:31 They're like, here's the request. I'm like, yeah, I should just be like. We go to training camp. with the Dallas Cowboys Camp. I'm covering this for no puppet. In fact, whenever I get it, I'm doing it this time. You can do that any time you want. Yeah. You're a video journalist with no puppet productions.
Starting point is 00:04:46 I need to go back to the Cotton Bowl. Absolutely. You've covered Cowboys Camp. You've covered the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame, yeah. For Hager, not as just some. Like you were in the room with the biggest of wigs. That's right. So more bags.
Starting point is 00:05:01 More bag. On today's show, we will preview tonight's big game. as the Dallas Cowboys go into Philadelphia to face the hated Eagles and what some are calling a must-win game for your Dallas Cowboys, Jake. Yeah, you know, I do have that, you know, with all your playoff simulators and trackers, now they can give you a playoff leverage rating.
Starting point is 00:05:28 That makes enough sense, right? So just what both teams have on the line. Probably just the difference between winning this game, losing this game, right? Yes, but for both. Right. And this one is going to be, this is, and it's probably going to be this way anytime the Cowboys and Eagles play, but this is one of the two or three highest of the weekend.
Starting point is 00:05:46 A lot on the line. Every NFC East game, divisional game from here on out. Sure. No one's going to pull away. These teams suck. I don't know. Giants look pretty strong. No, they don't.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Oh. No, they don't. Now, I do think they're doing the right thing because I try to, it, it's, I'm sure I fail at this, but I try to stay in the middle and football take land. And I don't think J.J. McCarthy's as bad as the people who saw him be a bitch for a couple years in Minnesota think he is either. I certainly don't mean. He's the first rounder. But he sucks.
Starting point is 00:06:20 He's got a, I'll say this. And you are anti-Michigan guy. Blake hates him too for TCU reasons. He's just got juice, you know. He's got, James is fun. but, dude, James is not even good at being bad. He's got about two ounces of juice. He's a small man.
Starting point is 00:06:40 No, he's got a fire of an arm, and he can move around a little bit. What are you talking about? I watched the game yesterday. He's got a live arm. He can push the ball deep outside in ways James ain't doing. Not anymore. And they can still run like Zone Reed stuff. I'm not afraid of J.J. McCarthy, but he presents more of a challenge to the division than James did.
Starting point is 00:07:03 Just from a variant standpoint. Yeah, better than James is in the easy bar to clear, but put away the Cowboys' Playoff hopes, J.J. McCarthy's here. I don't know, man. It started with Dan saying the Giants are good, and I said, no, they suck. And now you're arguing with me. Yeah, I just...
Starting point is 00:07:20 I think they suck. I just think McCarthy's a little... I just look at their record. You are what your record is at the end of the season, at least. If they continue to be three games ahead of the Cowboys, I think the NFL will put them in the play. That's an excellent point. But they did not impress me yesterday.
Starting point is 00:07:39 There's just something wrong with the Texans. Do you like, are they going to put dresses on them next week? The Cam Scataboo play? That's illegal? Let me see which one you're talking about. They've penalized him for unnecessary roughness on a run. Because he put his head into some guy's chest. he was trying to tackle him.
Starting point is 00:08:04 They penalized him. It's not the first time. You can't put that in the rulebook. I don't think they can. Like, watch it. Watch the play over. It's like, really, that? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Really? Don't try and tackle me if you don't want to get that. Get a little lower, right? What do they say? Get low. You're trying to get low. It's hard to get low on Cam Scataboo. I was surprised that's his first 100-yard game, though.
Starting point is 00:08:31 Well, he's been bench. Well, but last year even, you know, when... It hurt. I know he got hurt, but I still... He's a beast, though, you know. I'm surprised that... For how much people talk about him. Yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:08:43 But I feel like... He gets commercials. Every time you turn... It's because he's doing this. It's because he's ducking his head. Does a flip? Yeah, I mean, his... I've been saying this.
Starting point is 00:08:51 On injury reserve with a hurt leg and comes back. I think you need to add that the flip was at wrestling. Huh? The flip was at wrestling. No, he does him in the end zone. Yeah, but I'm saying in the off season when people are like, wondering if he was healthy or not. He went to wrestling and fell doing a backflip.
Starting point is 00:09:06 And that's the big story of the offseason. I mean, I get it. I love violence. You can't penalize this play. But why, if we think about this logically, why would they allow, if the basis of the penalty is that this is dangerous, why would they allow you to do it because you have the ball? It's defending your home versus breaking into a home.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Like, you can use a gun in one of those situations. Yeah, but they still call offensive holding. They call a lot of stuff that way. And so, I mean, I get it, but I also don't think this is going to be a big problem because there's, like, one guy in the league that they're like, you fucking dummy? We really didn't consider that we'd have to flag the offense for this. I would love that guy on my side, just wanting to inflict pain on the person trying to attack him. Dude, I love him.
Starting point is 00:09:56 I mean, again, just flying through their, around their game yesterday, it felt like every time you see him, he's like a movie running back where every time he falls he's rolling forward in some sort of a like barrel roll and every time he gets up he's giving you that first down sign he's just
Starting point is 00:10:12 he's like the swagiest running back of my life and he's a Caucasian it's the strangest thing ever did we go 10 minutes of the okay I want to promote something promote Friday at least we're doing the Halloween premiere live event at the Saksie
Starting point is 00:10:30 so. Absolutely. Kristen has an idea for a costume for me. I already have an idea for a costume, so we'll see what wins out. I'll tell you what won't win out. But I will be costumed. Because she came up with a couple of DIY ideas. This is not the one I told you.
Starting point is 00:10:45 She was like, maybe he could dress up as foaming soap. We could make it a foaming soap. I actually kind of like that. And then she wrote, what about a bathroom rating card? These are all just conceptually maybe funny, but not. She's at least thinking with the show, which I like. Yeah, for better or worse. And I was just thinking of what I could craft my physical being into the easiest.
Starting point is 00:11:10 A stud. And we talked yesterday, and I don't think enough people would just off the back get the Brian Dayball thing if I was wearing a Giants. Yesterday, man, people were sending me. He was in the booth. There was national TV. People was like, geez, dude. I think Dayball lost a little weight, you know. Have you thought about Paula Poundstone?
Starting point is 00:11:29 Wow, that doesn't seem good at all. Again, I keep telling you, it's more of an insult to Powell Poundstone. She's the one that looks like a man. You know what I think of? But the man that she looks like is you. You know what I? That's not nice. Interesting. And you, yes, you're the one who said, hey, don't do lesbian stuff.
Starting point is 00:11:47 Yeah, and it really slowed you down. Have I been the guy doing lesbian stuff? You've brought up the fact that I don't want it every day since then. Just right there when you did it. Otherwise, I've stayed off of them. There's going to be good for Nathan for you talk today. Because that's all I was thinking about when I was watching the movie. I was like, dude, my life is, we should, I had, I picked the wrong job.
Starting point is 00:12:09 I don't want a job that confuses you. Like, other people have jobs where they just talk the way they mean to each other. They do? I think. Anyways, Atlas Foundation Repair. Oh. They're not bullshitting you, okay? This is straightforward.
Starting point is 00:12:27 That's how they've been in business since 1958. I let them in my home. I let a guy get up underneath my home dressed like Walter White because that's what he does. He was checking out my foundation. His family's been doing it for 68 years, and they've been doing this the whole time as well, not employing salespeople. They're not there to upcharge you. They're there to fix your house. They know how to do it.
Starting point is 00:12:48 That's the name of the game for them. They'll do a free inspection for you. Typically, they're not Dallas County free inspection, but for dumb zone listeners they will. So book that at at Atlas Foundation Inc.com. 817-672-9950. Kyler, great dude. Been out to my house and I'm positive he'll be back. We trust them.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Atlas Foundation Inc.com. Atlas Foundation repair. No sales team just a family that cares. Atlas Foundation repair. Strong 650. I was telling you guys before, have you seen the Kams Kadaboo Insurance commercial? That's one of my biggest
Starting point is 00:13:30 running his head into a wall. Trump his back things, is that brands are embracing concussions. Yeah. So what's he going to do now? He's going to step out of bounds. He's in a commercial headbutting cars with Jake from State Farm.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Well, speaking of headbutting, I finished watching the Tyson documentary. Has anybody gotten into that? Yeah. I will. I'm going to do too much. You got to do saving. Yeah, it's real good.
Starting point is 00:14:01 head budding is a big part of the ear bite. If you don't remember, everybody remembers the ear bite of the Holyfield fight. It's a tough thing. Whatever you bite in the ear, no one's asking, what did he do? Right. To make you so mad, you bid his ear. No one was asking that when he raped that lady either. Like, what did she?
Starting point is 00:14:24 Right. What was she wearing? Blah, blah, blah. Anyway, that's a big part of it as well. He's much like Elizabeth Holmes. He does not admit to the rape ever. He says he was wrong. Yeah, and I mean, maybe he believes that.
Starting point is 00:14:42 That's, you know, kind of the crux of the... I mean, I've watched, like, that other 30 for 30, but I don't remember. What, like, is... Does the documentary present evidence? Do we know that he's wrong about this? I mean, I assume that he is, but... Because honestly, that's kind of like the one thing. Like him being a hothead, him being like kind of a shitty business guy.
Starting point is 00:15:04 Those are things where it's like he's fucking on drugs. He's a young man who got famous. I could see a situation where you are reformed. But like, that's a tough one to be like, yeah, I just, if there's a rape in there, it's going to be tough for you to become Snoop Dog, right? Snoop Dogg killed somebody. Well, it's the old. But that's it.
Starting point is 00:15:25 That's my point, though. You can do certain crimes and all just in my head, I'm just like, nah, but rape ain't. But it's the, he said, she said she came to my room at 2.30 in the morning with me, not drag kicking and screaming. You know, like she, we were out. That doesn't give one a license. No. It suggests a fact pattern. His defense attorneys kind of screwed him.
Starting point is 00:15:49 I mean, it's funny that Donald Trump's interviewed in this documentary a few times. And he comments on the rape case. all right and did you find it was he president while they were filming the interviews
Starting point is 00:16:02 or was it shut up they got time it's in the Oval office but it's only Tyson talk that's it he will comment on Tyson
Starting point is 00:16:12 oh yeah that's still nuts though you know what they didn't bring up when they were talking about all the people that took advantage of Tyson Donald Trump I was looking at today
Starting point is 00:16:23 in history today he built Tyson $2 million for consulting. Oh, yeah, yeah, because he had... Just for bouncing ideas off me and giving you help. Two million. Right. That's a fee, buddy.
Starting point is 00:16:37 But later it was like, all these people just reached in. Like, you feel sorry for Tyson and the whole thing, just that he is an idiot. He came from a very tough situation, and once he got into the place where he could make $60 million a fight or whatever, you know, he would see very little of it because of all the people who were just jumping in
Starting point is 00:17:00 that were a lot smarter than him and could, like, deceive him on... The tale was oldest time. Anyway, I was thinking, because he was awesome. And then, like you said, he got into drugs, and he's like... Like the night before the Buster Douglas fight, they interviewed Bobby Brown.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Another famous fighter. The Whitney Houston husband, right? I don't know if the famous fire. He knocked her around a little bit. He did, yeah. Okay. So Bobby Brown said he was out doing cocaine and whatever with Mike Tyson the night before the Buster Douglas fight. Like the night before.
Starting point is 00:17:50 It does just more and more make me really. in all that LeBron was able to do what he did with kind of the same hype and same everything, and you're on top of the world. But like if Mike Tyson had done a LeBron or a Tom Brady and you know what, I'm just going to eat. I'm going to just live my life like in this way and maximize my earning potential while I can. And then go like how good could he have been? It's the old, you know, if Jimmy stayed here with.
Starting point is 00:18:24 Troy Aikman, did they win five Super Bowls? You know? I just... Sports is full of this stuff. It is, but TC knows this as well as anyone. I simply can't engage in thought like that. Because if he ate well, he wouldn't be crazy. And he wouldn't be Mike Tyson.
Starting point is 00:18:41 So this is the problem, is that people like us look at him and they're like, why can't he just do the stuff like we'd do it the normal way? And then he would have had all that talent. He wouldn't have that talent. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know how I would do. I might have been out. That is what makes LeBron unique.
Starting point is 00:18:58 Yeah, I probably would have been out. Now, Brady's a little different. Brady, but Brady also had to come from. I mean, he's a psycho, too, though. Oh, he became a psycho, but it wasn't, you know, that helped get him to there. Right. It wasn't like you were already annoyed it as the best. And then he said, also, I'm going to now change my diet.
Starting point is 00:19:20 I just think you can't take the dog out, right? It's my dad's theory. I just think if you tame me. Des, he becomes a... Des that's a good teammate is a bad bad receiver. Speaking of Dez, how did we go this far into the show and not mention that Dez Bryant
Starting point is 00:19:34 arrested. There's video of it. You didn't even know this until you sent it to me. Yeah, Clayton's pretty late-breaking. Clayton informed me this morning, and there's video. Oh, you can see the video there if you're watching our YouTube page. Outside the Choloso-Mexican bistro
Starting point is 00:19:52 that you can find me at once every 10 days. or so, and Des Bryant on the ground handcuffed. They make him lay on the speed bump? Yeah, do they need to do it that way? The speed bump is like he's laying his belly is on the speed bump. Got to have the cop with a long gun. Yeah, like, what, really is that necessary?
Starting point is 00:20:12 I wonder who these other... That cop looks so much like Blake. Do you need to have like a big machine gun? These guys are laying on the ground in handcuffs. Do I need this big giant gun out? You know how they bought it, Dan? how they bought your money the gun
Starting point is 00:20:26 yeah they reached into your pocket because they needed a little extra for that gun do we know this video from Outkick which has enriched my in-laws and certainly has I wonder who
Starting point is 00:20:40 but I mean Des gave Outk the video so it's not like it's they didn't do any digging you know what I mean Des is out front on this no pun intended well he yeah he probably knows
Starting point is 00:20:51 everything that we just said If someone sees this, they're probably going to be like, wow, why did they make me? And on the speed bump. Uh-huh. I sent this to our lawyer McCool, who is good at getting the body cams, and he sent a ha-ha when I said, I need the body. Does he think that's a joke? No. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:10 He think he's on it? Yes. All right. Because I'd love to have the body cam. Do you want to read any of this? Yeah. What are you got? Uh, he...
Starting point is 00:21:20 Was it the whole... Because when I was at Chiloso, I don't think the dispute is Choloso related. I don't think it was. I was just I drove home. I didn't have the queso. I drove back. Alaprio ranch.
Starting point is 00:21:33 I drove, like, it took me 20 minutes to drive home. We then find there's no queso. I drive again 20 minutes, you know. I'm not here to do a live spot for Chiloso, but let me tell you something. No, they were like, they got in my grill. Like, are you sure? Let me see your receipt. I'm like, do you?
Starting point is 00:21:49 Oh, I don't like that. Let me ask you something here, manager. Do you think my scam is To order Not don't order Caso Show up, pick up my meal, leave Come back 45 minutes later
Starting point is 00:22:04 And screw you out of a dollar 50 Caso that or whatever they charge right And that like why would you get in my grid Just hand me some casso and let me be on my way I'm doing it because my daughter No I didn't say any of it It says it began as a traffic conference
Starting point is 00:22:23 confrontation. They cut him off in traffic. Yeah. And then he advised them to drive a little safer next time. That's what he said. And then the police showed up and arrested them. Yeah. But I have to assume that just...
Starting point is 00:22:37 Don't cut off Des. Don't cut off Des. That's the moral. 100%. But Chilosa was just wherever they were driving by, whenever this happened, right? Yeah. It's the parking lot. All right. So I've taken this weekend check, I guess, because also just as far as the Tyson thing I wanted to mention. Interesting too that he, like the way he fired his longtime managers was like via a note or someone
Starting point is 00:23:07 else telling them. He had known these guys for like 20 years and then they're just out of his life. He hasn't spoken to them since. And it is very Tiger Woods. That's how he would have hired. That's how he fired Hank Haney. That's how he fired like others that were very, very close to him. That's how he broke up with his high school girlfriend that they were supposed to be in love with.
Starting point is 00:23:30 And I just wondered if you are at that level, do you sometimes operate like that? Because you're just so high, you're just like, you know what? I have so much to deal with. I don't want to deal with the emotion or the whatever of actually talking to this person who I do consider my friend. but I need to just I need my life needs to be clear of it right now and so we were friends for 20 years but I will just never talk to you again
Starting point is 00:23:56 I don't not like you it's just I need I need to change and that's it and I'm Tyson or I'm Tiger I'm like you just don't get what it means to be me it's just you can take the easy way out that's what it is yeah so you do yeah but also just both them
Starting point is 00:24:14 it happens so fast I just Tiger especially, you get the sense he did not develop any of those skills. Like, just he couldn't, he can't have a conversation. Like, I think that he'd probably be better off if he did. But, like, there's a lot about his emotional development where he'd be a lot better off if he learned some things and he didn't. And, okay, I wanted to, let me throw you a little gym talk real quick. After watching Iron Mike, you thought. Well, I was at the, so here, I got two things.
Starting point is 00:24:48 One is a video. God, I got to get in. Got to get a pump. Give me a good. Uh-oh. So you know how I let, so this is a video from me going to the, a different 24-hour fitness. I usually go. Why are you zooming in on her ass?
Starting point is 00:25:01 I usually go in South Lake. This shit is not cool anymore, man. This is like the Lewisville or the one up, uh, whatever. It's, uh, near Friscoe. Do you notice what is driving me crazy about this gym? It's that old. The rack to the rates, weights out order. Well,
Starting point is 00:25:18 There's an order, and then there's no rhyme or reason. Like, yes, it should go 10, 15, 20, 25, 30. And these weights, and I just didn't know, am I the A-hole, or, like, would you be bothered by this? To see 100, then a 70, then a 65, then a 20. Yeah, I mean, I am, but this is low. I just got to walk a mile to find. But as long as they're paired, then I'm fine. All right.
Starting point is 00:25:46 As long as you're paired, then. I mean, I wouldn't keep it like that at my house. house, but it seems like a little bit of a weirdo thing to worry about, but I think the weirdos who worry about it mainly hang out at gyms, so I'm a bit surprised that this is going on. I thought everyone at the gym was making sure that. Yeah, you're trying to settle up for the next guy, too. No, not at all. I don't even, why would you think that?
Starting point is 00:26:04 Some of the worst behavior. We live in a light society. Because I don't go to gyms. Gym people are good. No, they're generally good. That's horrible. Now I didn't Louisville, though, or wherever I was here, Friscoe. The gym is the source of, like, the worst source.
Starting point is 00:26:18 social behavior and all of, it's like the source of half the comedy now. Dan coming in talking about a guy breaking out an effin beats pill and the sauna. The gym is out of control because it's everybody, everybody's too confident. People who should maybe have no confidence have gotten some, and then people who already have some have more. And everyone's like, yeah, I can just get away with this. It's too many people feeling good about themselves. Way too many. Interesting.
Starting point is 00:26:44 So you just get a lot of, I mean, that's why women think everybody's looking at them. and like over-index their hotness while they're at the gym. Well, I'm certainly not doing that, as far as they can tell. So I went to the sauna afterwards because you tell me to go to the sauna. That's the only reason I do it. I usually get too hot in there and tired. That's the idea, but... I know, I know.
Starting point is 00:27:06 I don't know what... Don't put it on me. But I went into the sauna. Because then if you get mad at me, you're not going to want to do it. Put it on science. The Musers did a segment about the sauna that I've... It's stuck in my head ever since. Apparently you live 100 years if you go to the sauna.
Starting point is 00:27:21 Oh, okay. They said that the medical benefits are astounding. Okay. How long do you got to stay in? 20 minutes. Yeah, 20 minutes. 20 minutes three to four times a week. And there is a pretty significant, I mean, you know, if you give a shit or believe any of this stuff, there's a lot of research.
Starting point is 00:27:39 Well, let me tell, let me ask you this then, because our sauna was broken. So I see, oh, sauna's closed. Next to the sauna, steam room. So I'm like, all right, let's see what this is all about. You go in there, not as hot as the sauna. Sat down, it's soaking wet. You know? Don't love that.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Should have known. Yeah. And I sit in there like five minutes and I'm like, all right, it's not that hot. And I guess it's steam and I'm breathing it in. I don't know what, and then I left. I just want to know what's the deal. Why? I could tell you.
Starting point is 00:28:15 I know that there are, I've done it too. I think there are similar but reduced benefits for people who don't want to deal with. You're going to usually see older people in there, in my experience, than in the sauna. Although you see a lot of olds in the sauna, too. So I imagine it's similar, but not as intense. And then my weekly call with my mom, she wanted to talk politics, Ohio politics. I'm like, oh, okay. Is she voting for me?
Starting point is 00:28:42 She goes, have you heard about this governor thing? And I go, what? Oh, no. And so she says the guy, the Republican guy running for governor has an ad. And there's a lady running for governor. Do you know about this? So the lady. The lady, or the guy is running the ad that says it's this old lady on the screen.
Starting point is 00:29:09 She's like 80 and she might be missing her teeth, all this. And she's like, my daughter is a liar. and she's running for governor. You don't want that. Vote for the guy. So as you look into the story, the lady who says my daughter is a liar, when the daughter was 10 years old,
Starting point is 00:29:34 she was raped by the stepfather that the lady married. And like apparently proveable, like the brother, you know, the brother and the sister then were taken out of the home. The guy is sentenced to go to jail. and takes off as a fugitive and the mom goes with him. Oh, shit. So the guy ends up dying,
Starting point is 00:29:58 but the mom, like, stayed with the guy who, you know, they say raped the daughter, and apparently there's some credibility to the whole charge. And now, I guess, they're running an ad of the mom who went on the lamb
Starting point is 00:30:16 with rapist husband saying, yeah, but my daughter's a liar. So, like, now. That's insane. I saw the vex saying something about, it was like, is this lady going to cry about everything type thing? And I'm like, it's amazing. And my mom's like, whoa, I can't believe what's going on. But she clued me into that story.
Starting point is 00:30:34 They asked Trump about it directly. And he's like, dude, if your mom says bad stuff about you, I wouldn't vote for you. I wasn't expecting him to rebuke. Yeah, no, no. But most of the time he just gets away with not saying anything. Right. To go affirmatively on the record of like, The rapist protector?
Starting point is 00:30:54 I think she's right. Oh, man. Yeah, it seems like a crazy move. Like, doesn't Vivek look more deranged than Amy? Like, I know I'm seeing all this through my glasses, but to your mom, was your mom a dedicated communist before this? Or is she a good troll group? No, she's like, you know what?
Starting point is 00:31:18 I've never voted straight down a thing. She goes, I always try to know something about the people, and I'll vote for who I think is going to be the best for whatever, the community. Yeah. And this ad talked her out of it? She's like, boy, I'm really considering just going straight, she said. Okay. So I'm like, yeah. So that would be my anticipated effect of the ad.
Starting point is 00:31:41 I don't know why they ran the ad. Yeah, no, she said all the other, like, like Ohio Republic. Like there's currently a governor who's Republican is like. Mike DeWine. No, I don't think you should. But this shouldn't be as a bad bit. Anyway, we'll go to Jake's weekend check. But first, oh, let me, another weekend check thing with Flooring Direct DFW.
Starting point is 00:32:06 I'll end with that. Did I send you all the text? You send me one of them, and I'm glad that it's being freed. Yeah, Rick Renner. So here's the deal. Rick Renner is our sales guy at, FlooringDirectDefW FlooringDefW.com
Starting point is 00:32:26 slash Deasy And he's been great And as you know It's been a process And Very patience Here's the problem though So my wife doesn't know
Starting point is 00:32:37 What we talk about on the show But he comes over He's like Oh yeah You know When I stop by a dumb zone house They'll all mention to me Hey is Dan's floor's done yet?
Starting point is 00:32:49 I'm like Ah Rick, don't do that But everything about him was great because, you know when he said this to me? Sunday morning at 9.30. Because we made the decision. We. I'll go we. Me and Josh Hamilton and Katie Hamilton.
Starting point is 00:33:05 We made the decision on the floors. So it's all done. The decision is done. She texts him Saturday evening and says, hey, the decision is done. She wants, like, the herringbone at one point. and then whatever the straight stuff in another point. And she's like, can you come over and do the measurements sometime this week? He says, how about tomorrow morning?
Starting point is 00:33:30 Sunday morning. What an animal. We're like, yeah. That work way better because she's got a job. He's out grinding the Lord. Mm-hmm. Who needed a day off. And so, yeah, flooring direct, like I'm just saying, they will work around your schedule
Starting point is 00:33:45 because, you know, during the week, she's up early to go to work and blah, blah, blah. Rick Renner's like, I'll knock it out Sunday morning. And then he wrote, I got to check with the boss first. And then my wife's like, to me, what does that mean? Why would she have to check with? And I go, he means his wife. She's like, oh, Rick Renner is very campy. Yep.
Starting point is 00:34:11 You might say corny. But also, I would say a delight. Delightful. What did he say? Oh, when he said he was going to be here, in the morning. He said, I'll see you at 9.30. Mayhem in the a.m.
Starting point is 00:34:29 Absolutely. Yep. Yep. Wadage to the cottage, heard about the skirts. And then he says, a little shock in your hand. Then after the whole thing was over, he says, it's like the Cowboys won by 50. We have a final decision.
Starting point is 00:34:42 Your wife is a genius. It's going to look great. Can't wait to hear how much you love it. Have a great day. And then this is what I didn't send you. He has an avatar of himself. Yeah. Of course he goes.
Starting point is 00:34:55 Giving a fist phone. Anyway, Rick Renner is not the focus of this. It's Flooring Direct DFW. We got the floors. We're going to get them hooked up. They'll be here before Thanksgiving. You can get your floors too. Best deal in DFW.
Starting point is 00:35:12 FlooringDirect, DFW.com slash DZ. Let's do one more weekend check before we start into some sports of the day. Friday we had people over at the house in the afternoon. I'm a big fan of that, man. I'm a big fan of going and picking up pizza. There's a bunch of drunk women at my house with their kids. And then they're out of there by evening. Definitely.
Starting point is 00:35:35 It's Friday after school, it's like 4.30, and they just start piling in. I love it. I know that's really lame. You like to be the house, right? I do, man. That was like a big goal of mine because growing up, we were the house. And I guess, like, in college, we were. always the house and I love it but I did have business to attend to Friday night because
Starting point is 00:35:56 after I started taking improv back in January sometime I would say around April or May TC and I started taking a sketch writing class at a local theater what that means I don't really know at the time. You think like SNL style sketches, I suppose, but, you know, we've filmed some stuff, but I've never been on a theater stage really in my life. Never took that route. So when I started doing stand-up writing, I started doing sketch writing at the same time, but stand-up, you know, within a few weeks, you can go to an open mic and, like, get your
Starting point is 00:36:41 shit out there. You can get feedback, you can start, you know? This sketch thing, we're like, these are eight-week, classes three hours each week. There's homework. And so we're 24 weeks in and Friday finally got to do like the show. Is it like the final exam type thing? I guess. Yeah. But at the end of each the first and the second one, there were little deals where you'd get up and do like a monologue. And I don't even think TC was in town for that. So, you know, they'd be like, well, it's a writing class, but you have to pitch your character. So eventually you won't have to act. You'll just write.
Starting point is 00:37:16 And then we kept being asked to act. And to the point where Friday night, here's the two of us acting in like a sketch review. And it was very stressful. You're in someone else's written work. Yeah. Okay. And ours. And ours.
Starting point is 00:37:34 Yeah. But it was a lot of fun. It was very nerve-wracking. Is this available on it? Did someone video it? No. No. Oh.
Starting point is 00:37:41 But we will be doing it again Friday night. This week? Yeah. At 9 p.m. Yes. So if you're wondering what it looks like. Yeah. All right, where?
Starting point is 00:37:50 Stomping ground comedy. It was fun. I made a couple. I would give myself a B-minus. I had one bad line flub, but it was in my sketch. And T.C. bailed me out. My big goal going in was don't screw up anything in anyone else's sketch. Because I don't like that.
Starting point is 00:38:07 I read. Well, you wouldn't like it. Your sketch. I struggle with how to describe certain things. on the show where other people could potentially hear them. But I'll just tell you this. I'm not from that world necessarily, right? I just think I take myself a lot less seriously, maybe,
Starting point is 00:38:30 than a lot of people who wind up in the theater world and in the arts world. So, no, I don't actually care. If someone, I mean, whatever, we're doing fucking jokes. This is all pretend. What are we... Like, if we can record it, then yeah, I would like you to do it again. But I don't know.
Starting point is 00:38:48 They take themselves a lot more seriously than like the sports world does, Dan. A lot more. Interesting. Yeah, with my stuff, once I wrote it, like it's not like I have no opinion, but I certainly don't care if someone messes up a line. I feel disrespected, that's for sure. If everything's not perfect, you know, it's whatever, man. Like, I just hope I did a good job writing it and once it's done.
Starting point is 00:39:10 Yeah, I don't know. I was not, I hope that I wasn't precious about. Sounds like someone got up your guy's ass. No, no, but I've just, I've been, we did three classes of it, right? So you start to pick up on what people, you know, how. And also now I've done three, two improv classes, three of these, I'm just telling you, we don't take ourselves as seriously in general as people who might have ended up in that world. But we know, I mean, you know that.
Starting point is 00:39:36 That's, yeah. And I mean, it's different. Like, like, as we're doing this, the thing I want to do is, and we've started to do a little bit, and hopefully in the future, the audience will be hearing much, much more. But I would like to film some of these and fold this into the Dumb Zone project where people start to think of us
Starting point is 00:39:56 as that cool sports podcast that also has those amazing sketches. We had a call with a guy from Spotify last week. Me and Blake did, and I told them about our breaks. I was like, we have a two-and-a-half-hour show. We run a 10-minute break in the middle of it, but we put our own sketches and our own, like, fake ads
Starting point is 00:40:14 and real ads in there, and he was like, that's incredible. He's like, I've never heard of anything like that. And then that's without us even putting the stuff we have in the can in there. Like, it's a good,
Starting point is 00:40:25 I've always thought that the brakes are a good opportunity for just dicking around. Yeah. We have some space here. But yeah, so, like, so that stuff I would take extremely seriously. You're like,
Starting point is 00:40:37 you've been with me. I like to do a lot of takes. I like to get it right. Right. And so, but this is that for them. Like, they're not thinking,
Starting point is 00:40:44 like, who cares about this show I've got this other thing I really care about making these brakes perfect 100% this is their Super Bowl so yeah
Starting point is 00:40:52 and I did too and I took it very seriously I'm not but it's also the first time I've ever done it I feel like our teacher was kind of like bothered that like
Starting point is 00:41:00 oh you might if you're still looking at your lines beforehand I was just nervous as piss I've never acted before dude and I'm not even really like radio actor good like I don't do that
Starting point is 00:41:11 I'm kind of just me and when I'm doing this maybe an amped up version of me and like stand up is pretty much just you. But the sketch thing, you know, it's acting. And I don't know. It's fun, man, but it is nerve-wracking.
Starting point is 00:41:23 Yeah, like you, I guess I know that way. Not really. It was like I blacked out and whenever it was done I came to. It goes so fast, dude. The whole time. Because that's another thing, too, Dan, and your daughter's done this forever. So, you know, this is very, like, if we, you did this at a higher level, you would have a stage manager. You would have, so we're like carrying some.
Starting point is 00:41:45 stuff off stage in between sketches and you're like, am I in the next one? No, so I got to go get this other stuff? It was just like it was like ticket stock or summer bash almost kind of, but like ramped up in the sense of that you're in more stuff. But there's also like
Starting point is 00:42:01 20, 15, 20 people there, so it's not that the stakes are pretty low. Oh, there wasn't, okay. No, that's a small deal. Any of our people? Machine and KT were there and then I feel like there were a couple listeners. You think so?
Starting point is 00:42:15 I think so. I didn't have anyone like say what's up afterwards or anything. If they were, that's great. Sometimes people don't. Yeah, yeah, fair enough. So we had that, um, damn, what did I do? Most Saturday.
Starting point is 00:42:30 We had soccer. I know that. Oh, I want to read you one quick email from, uh, from a listener. Because I was not able to coach Carter's soccer game on Saturday morning because I was coaching Norris soccer game. But we were playing a listener's team because the listener had emailed me before and been like,
Starting point is 00:42:54 hey, I think we played your son's team when you weren't there last time. And he heard us talking about it. So we have a rule with my son that if he tackles another kid, he has to come out of the game. It's gotten to that level. Yeah. So this is from Manny. who emailed and said probably the
Starting point is 00:43:14 this is the other team we were playing probably the best game of the year today my kiddos were down 3-0 and I think we ended up losing 4-3 Carter had a good goal where he was balanced running through traffic and half the field and kicked it in strong I gave him a high-five out of respect he says you're not lying
Starting point is 00:43:30 put this kid in safety he is the second coming of Cooper to Jean but he was very upset anytime he had to sit he had to sit anytime he went to the ground but he's getting better saw a lot of improvement on that on that goal So I have listeners proxy coaching my child from the other team. They know he's the one we have to nurture.
Starting point is 00:43:51 Word's getting around the league. Yeah. Yeah, I want to just. This is the LeBron of. I want to be on a team with this guy. I want to get listeners together. Take over. Oh, Saturday night.
Starting point is 00:44:05 This weekend was my wedding anniversary. So I was like, what am I doing on Saturday? We went to Fort Worth. We got a nice hotel, and we went to Arts Goggle, which is like down on Magnolia, which is where the Conny Roso in Fort Worth is. They shut the street down. Is that the hot soap or sotta place? There's a new bitching hot soap risada restaurant over here. But they shut down the whole street.
Starting point is 00:44:32 All the bits you can drink. There's bands, and we were just down there for three or four hours. and then last night I had two shows at Big Laugh, and there were a couple listeners at each one of those. It was a lot of fun. Sunday night? Yeah. Dude, you're a baller.
Starting point is 00:44:52 You're a very busy guy. I did. So, there, you drive, I mean, it's, I guess I am, but I'm just trying to make, it see, it doesn't feel like it's not like, it's not like hard. I've already written the material. Like, I just need to stay doing it, you know? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:08 And in between the sets, I was just watching football, like on my computer and my car. So, yes, TC's obsessed with how much I am in my car. And I don't really see how weird it is to any. It's a comfy place. You pay rent 500 bucks a month for it. You can just chill in it whenever you want. That's why you got a car tray and a peeve. Trey, get a pillow.
Starting point is 00:45:31 P.J. And then last night, after I did the 8 o'clock show, I went home, put the kids to bed. And I drove to the movie theater. It's a 10 o'clock showing if you can see everything. Wow. Wow. We are ready to go. Well, we're going to talk about that later.
Starting point is 00:45:53 We are ready to go, and we just need a cowboy win. Badly for my vibes right now. Well, tonight we are hosting the Cowboy Stream. So if you want to watch us, watch the game. watch us, watch the Cowboys Rest control of the NFC East and just begin their ascension As they got a nice cupcake schedule here
Starting point is 00:46:20 The Vegas is saying It's like a 99% chance They win the next three games in a row Like it's very, very long odds That these games are even competitive They're just going to be so dominant And I don't think they've ever lost as a favor before No, no, no
Starting point is 00:46:37 And certainly they don't lose when we're doing a game stream. But during that game stream, got a couple of winners already scheduled. I hit them up this weekend. From Game Day Men's Health. Yes, when you go into any Game Day men's health location, get a free rapid testosterone test. It's what it sounds like. It's pretty fast, and you can see your T levels. You'll get in a drawing to win a pair of Game Day box seats to an upcoming cowboy watching party.
Starting point is 00:47:10 We have Dalton and Eric will be in here tonight. Thanks to two of the various game days, I think one of them is Mansfield. One of them might be the downtown Dallas location, but go to gameday.com and find the location closest to you. Get out there. Check it out when you get that rapid testosterone test included in that. Like, it's a blood test, and they kind of check your levels for other red flags. Test for everything. In one drop.
Starting point is 00:47:40 Well, it's more than one drop, and not everything. All 200 tests. But prostate cancer is one of them, and it actually helped one of our listeners, you know, flag that, and he was able to, you know, attack that pretty early. So whether you're saving your real life or your sex life, folks, it's gameday. Dot dumzone.com. Ask about the peptides. If you are just feeling like he could use a little oomph,
Starting point is 00:48:08 Gameday.dumzone.com From the wonderful world of sports, radio sports, scoreboard. Oh, yeah, I like that. A lot of stuff in the world of sports. How about the brewery? How about them? Tenacious. Up to nothing in the World Series?
Starting point is 00:48:34 Not to be the nod. We're small balling it. We're Pat Murphy. I mean, it's a Pat Murphy team. No lead is safe. Yeah, they were down four nothing on Saturday. They end up winning five to four. The Tampa Bay Rays are staying at a haunted hotel.
Starting point is 00:48:59 Did you see that story? I did not. Oh, yeah. Search that. It's there. Apparently that's a big thing. there one in Oklahoma City, too? Yes.
Starting point is 00:49:10 People talk about the NBA. You see on... Yeah. Apparently there's one in Milwaukee, too, where Major League Baseball teams have reported different things happening, things moving. Yeah, it just means that
Starting point is 00:49:25 there's nothing else happening in the city. Milwaukee or Oklahoma City, yes. Ghosts. Probably haunted. Luca. Sorry, who. You paying attention alone? No.
Starting point is 00:49:43 I'm not. I saw that he scored a bunch of points. I saw that people are mad about him. I got baited into reading Sam Amix article about the smear campaign against him. Oh, I did too. That was baiting. He didn't really say anything we didn't know, right? No.
Starting point is 00:50:00 Not at all. Yeah, obviously the Mavs, yes, tried to defend the worst trade in NBA history. They tried to just say why they did it. And everybody was like, okay, so, okay, really? He drinks beer and he's fat. Let me tell you. And he gets these numbers? I think I'd keep that.
Starting point is 00:50:18 The reason I loved Luca more than anything, and you've really gotten a big dose of it over the past couple of weeks, is there's a few things that are more fun than winning. But really what's great is if you're winning and everyone doesn't like your guy. And a lot of times, if they don't like your guy, they have some bullshit, qualitative reasons of he winds or he's this or he's that. And I spent a lot of time defending
Starting point is 00:50:47 Tony Romo because people would be like, look at it. It doesn't look like he takes it that serious. He's this, he's that. And at the end of the day, they were kind of right. Romo did not have the sauce that it required to defend him against everybody left and right.
Starting point is 00:51:02 You can defend, I mean, Lucas, you could not draw up a guy to be a better fan of than that. Because you're going to be right. He's always going to be able to just put one over on the other. It's going to make you feel good. He's going to win. He's got what it takes.
Starting point is 00:51:19 Watching the way everything is gone with the fan base's reaction, like how many people I run into in my day-to-day life that are still like really, really scarred from this, I think that if he never wins a title and like just, it just seems like all of them would just so much rather go through all of it. Like you just like him so much personally and like identify yourself as in large part just being someone who likes him, supports him, has been paying attention closely to him. And even if it's a series of great disappointments, that you'd much rather those happen as a maverick,
Starting point is 00:51:59 that you be, that just be a journey you're going on with him rather than even if he wins You'd rather see him win zero titles with the Mabs than five with the Lakers. That's probably true. That's probably true. But now that it is where it is, I really, yeah, I'd like him to win just because I think he's a guy who pisses people off. He's a guy who's very divisive. He's a lightning rod, and those are fun guys to have on your team unless they're never going to get it done. And Romo, kind of in the back of my mind the whole time, I was like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:52:28 I'm not sure. I don't have any such reservations about Luca, but no. What about the time Romo got them to the Super Bowl, but then lost because of, oh, wait a second, that's right. They never got close. Luca was in the finals the year before the trade, in the finals, and carried other teams to distances that, you know, logically you would say you couldn't carry this supporting cast this far. And he was our baby. That's the whole thing. If he was drafted somewhere else, you know,
Starting point is 00:53:02 and then something, you would be like, oh, that's interesting, but you might like him. You might like his style of play. You might hate him because he whined against the Mavs. Well, let me tell you who is homegrown. Jamie Ben, Wyatt Johnston. Oh, Jesus. Tyler Sagan, Robo.
Starting point is 00:53:20 I don't know that Tyler Sagan is homegrown, but I see what you're saying. That counts. You're saying you have an opportunity. I didn't list Miko Ranton. Like they've got a bunch of the stars that are known at. Their songs are an easy team to support for me. I mean, obviously, whatever fans.
Starting point is 00:53:34 But Jim Dill's a chill guy, like a good GM, you know. Oh, yeah. Not like they've gotten lucky necessarily. But I'm not here to draw T.C. Zire over Stars fans. As you're going around in the NFL. Is the Dolan thing on your list? We did it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:53:49 Oh, wait. No, we didn't do the update. There's an update on the Dolan thing? Yeah. Now I have an overwork Twitter joke of the week. Go for it. regarding that. You could put those up.
Starting point is 00:54:01 I got a little picture for you, but it was along the lines of fishing scams and how to get it. A couple I saw on Twitter that caught my eye. One was, I'm messaging my wife a link containing proof of her husband cheating on her from an anonymous Instagram account. Then when she clicks on it, I text her to let her know
Starting point is 00:54:21 she failed the family fishing test. She has to retake my cybersecurity course. The other one that was really funny, I thought, was I texted my children that we got the puppy they've been begging me for. I sent them a link with pictures. When they clicked on the link, it took them to a web page that said, you're grounded. They'll be spending the weekend retaking our family's cybersecurity training course. That's a great one. These are, of course, mocking.
Starting point is 00:54:47 You mock it. the real story that Madison Square Garden or the Knicks sent employees an email entitled like Knicks championship rings and they had a link there like you get to go to this link and you get to choose which style of ring that you get as an employee. And when they clicked on it, it said you have failed the cybersecurity. Like, it's an amazing, amazing story. Is there more update than Twitter fun? They called their crisis response team headed up by Jean-Jacques Taylor and said they were hacked.
Starting point is 00:55:33 Everyone's getting a ring. Four million bucks for 200 rings. Okay. Wait, but they weren't hacked? Yeah, no, of course. The hackers wouldn't do a cybersecurity. The company had previously sent out an email. to its corporate team as a simulation of a fishing attack designed to strengthen our security
Starting point is 00:55:53 against hackers. MSG was then recently hacked and extorted using an employee login and password obtained to a similar fishing attack. Using the rings as a lure to gain employees' attention was an unfortunate mistake. An unfortunate mistake that they took from our internal plan to use the rings to lure our employees. But they are going to give the rings now? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:16 Okay, great. Now, 3.7 million. There's no way they were getting those rings. I don't want to hear about the price. There's no way. Without this, they weren't. I think them releasing the price of poor quality. Man, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:56:33 This is an interesting test because the two franchises could not be farther apart in results. I would say I dislike the Knicks ownership more than I dislike the Mavericks ownership. I think they're worst people. It's such a tough competition But you would think of the fact that Knicks just won a championship Would really do them a lot And I don't know, man They're both really bad
Starting point is 00:56:56 They're really and for a lot of the same reasons You got to give the math's time Yeah, I If they won a title that I don't I don't know I mean they did stiff machine on playoff bonuses On the finals run So you're right
Starting point is 00:57:11 I'd like to see what they could come up with It's probably public That's probably fun. Oh, did he not? I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I don't know. I didn't mean to.
Starting point is 00:57:21 F the MAV's ownership. Who cares? Man, you shouldn't tell me anything. I do. Terrible. The top two in that category. The Cowboys' Chairleaders have unionized. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:35 That happened since we left. Hell yeah. So they will be. God, I cannot wait for this summer to see how Kelly reacts to that. I'm going to bet she doesn't love it. TC's a P1 of that show. Kelly. It's the best.
Starting point is 00:57:51 Kelly Finglass, dude, of course. And Judy Trammell? He watches the show. Why? It's the best show on television. I've watched it. It's so good. And the fact, boy,
Starting point is 00:58:01 wow, that bothers me about you. Because I do respect things that you watch. And when you have given advice on, hey, you should watch this. I'm like, okay. What didn't you like? Everything about it. It's gay. It's the dumbest thing ever.
Starting point is 00:58:15 It's ladies, yeah, what are you saying? What, like, what do you like? Watching them have meltdown. The human drama. I mean, I watch it with my wife. Sounds like a horn dog. Wanting to see some cowboy, cowboy cheerleaders to me. No, I can just watch horn.
Starting point is 00:58:33 Horn dog. That's a dated. I haven't thought about watching it. It could be a horn dog. That's good. Baker's back, folks. Baker is back 43 to 13. On the road.
Starting point is 00:58:46 Unbelievable performance. Didn't he like barely throw the ball? Oh, wait. I was watching the, oh, yes. Seven. Actually, I took a screenshot of it when the fourth quarter started because I wanted to see. All right, what's he going to get in the fourth quarter to make these stats look good? And the screenshot when the fourth quarter started.
Starting point is 00:59:10 Okay, so they're winning 36 to 6 as the fourth quarter starts. Baker Mayfield was 7 for 11 with 64 yards passing. So then waited until the end of the game and then took a look at Baker's stats where he was 7 for 11 with 64 yards passing. They had like 250 yards rushing. They just handed the ball off to Bucky Irving and whoever the other guy is. Kenneth Gainwell. Oh, Kenneth Gainwell, yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:44 And, I mean, Baker did pick up some of those ground yards as well, if you look into the stats. You had one for one. One yard. Yeah, there you go. But clearly, just the presence, not knowing that he's in there with you fighting. Absolutely. I mean, that was just enough for a 30-point win on the road. Does that end their streak of non-covers?
Starting point is 01:00:09 Or had they ended that earlier? The box, I have no idea. We stopped following that story. How do you score 43 points with 64 passing yards? Like the rushing stats are good. There had to be all kinds of turnover. It's incredible. Trayvon Diggs got released.
Starting point is 01:00:27 They didn't do it immediately. Like, as Mike Evans was pulling the shoulder pads. They gave him another week. Maybe send them out then. So we don't get to have that reunion when we go to Seattle. That's too bad. There was no way he was going to cut it there. No.
Starting point is 01:00:44 Or anywhere. Well, do you think they grabbed him because of Aiden? Aiden Durday was he, he was in the scene, right? He was there when Trayvon had his best days. And that's their defensive coordinator. Yeah, I was thinking about, I probably should have researched this take more before I fired it off. But I was thinking about Trayvon and Duran Bland yesterday. Because I think it's common to say, like, man, look at how much money,
Starting point is 01:01:12 Michael Parsons made those guys, they actually suck. You just get a pass rusher and then... Yeah. Hasn't the Raiders defense kind of sucked the entire time they've had Max Crosby? It seems like you kind of make it seem like if you just have a guy that, oh, well, the interceptions and turnovers, you've got a pass rusher. I mean, it certainly helped the Browns over the years to have Miles Garrett on the defensive line. I can't tell if you're joking or not.
Starting point is 01:01:44 No, no. It's helped them as far as defensive. They've had a good defense. I would be interested in a fair defense. I'm not sure what the Raiders. The Cowboys, those years they had, Micah, were like top. They were like seventh to eighth. They were real elite defense.
Starting point is 01:02:00 But they also had an elite offense, so that could cover up some things, right? The Cowboys? Yeah. Yeah, for sure. And if you get ahead, as Shottie will be quick to tell you when you get ahead, it really puts the other offense in a. bind. They've got to throw, they got to do stuff. Dan Quinn was a really good
Starting point is 01:02:16 coordinator. Sure. We just talk about this on the show a lot of, well... But if you have a lead, you have a mica, you know, those things all combined, I think. Yeah, definitely, but that is
Starting point is 01:02:32 the problem, is that their team was too built on, like you watched the Chiefs last night, there's just teams that seem fragile. Like, if something kind of goes wrong, everything's going to, like, ooh, That to me is how Dallas was with Micah, is that if you can only play defense if you're ahead, you're going to have some problems. And so I just don't think it's automatic that if you have a pass rusher, the Raiders are, I don't know how good they've ever really been on defense. And they've got a guy that they pay $45 million a year to.
Starting point is 01:03:06 And the Browns are 5 and 2. The Browns are 5 and 2. I read something. It was like, what is it, Desherns? Sean Watson in the last 50 games had zero game-winning drives, and then in the last seven he has like five or something. Like he's – it's a horrible thing to look at, Brown's football. But yes, my mom did note that too.
Starting point is 01:03:33 Boy, 300 yards passing for Deshawn Watson. He's killing it, dude. Yeah. What do you mean horrible? You love this. So that they'll re-sign him? Yes. He's going to go down as like the franchise passing yards leader.
Starting point is 01:03:48 Who is it now? That's the dumbest thing you've ever said. The Cozhar? Probably. But like what could Cozar's career total be? It's probably like two good years for Deshawn Watson. I think you're really insulting Bernie Cozars' great career with the Cleveland Browns. But I'm also not ready to fight you over it.
Starting point is 01:04:12 But we do take our attention to the. Cowboys, and this will be brought to us by Trident Access Services. That's who came out and fixed up my garage door. They could get you a brand new one. They could get you a gate. They can get you a glass garage door. They could get you a, I don't know, what. Motorized, electric, insulated, whatever you want.
Starting point is 01:04:40 They could probably do one of the mirrored joints if you want. Some cool things. You can watch yourself work out. trident.com. 817. 51212. Do not try to fix your garage door on your own. If your garage door is making noise or it's sticking, it's off the track a little bit.
Starting point is 01:04:58 Don't leave that to just you. Don't just call a buddy. Call Trident. 817-51212. TX Trident.com. It is a first responder and veteran-owned company. They have a Humvee. So let them fix or install your gate.
Starting point is 01:05:13 All right, so certainly a really, really should need to win this game, right? It's tough, though. Philly on the road, that's still a difficult task, right? Yeah. With Tanner McKee? You can't beat Tanner McKee? I... But you never know what's going to happen with that defense.
Starting point is 01:05:38 The Philly defense could. Yeah. It's football. Right? down a lot of bodies. Weird things can happen. This is the easiest possible Eagles road game that they've had. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:05:52 Possibly ever. Absolutely. But the anus is going to be on the Cowboys offense, as really it is all year long. If the Cowboys offense sucks, then all bets are off. And you would have to think after two weeks of the Cowboys' offense sucking that they've got to get it together here. and that they will get together. The bullets are flying. The criticism is on shotty now.
Starting point is 01:06:21 Three wins in his last 11 games as a head coach if head coach wins are a stat. We got, we have a lot of, well, we played this on Friday, but it was the paywall day, too. We have a lot of, what do you call it, getting defensive? I guess from Shottie. This was him on the fan on Friday morning. Yeah, I think at the end of the day, I think I have incredible confidence in our offense. I think, again, you know, have not played well the last two weeks. We understand a lot of the reasons why.
Starting point is 01:07:03 I've addressed a lot of the reasons why. But, again, we haven't changed who we are. We're still a good explosive offense with weapons. We can hurt you a lot of different ways. Certainly have not lost the ability to call plays. I'm an elite play caller in this league, and I think that that can turn around quickly. I don't even know what to say about that. It's better than him saying he's a bad one.
Starting point is 01:07:28 No, it's really not, actually. As you say that, it's not. Rather he say he's a bad one? If I were to, I don't want either, but if he was like, yeah, if I look at the last couple of weeks, I've sucked, and I really have to question where I am as a plate caller right now, I'd be like, God damn, that's honest. But I don't love the confidence, lack thereof. but I'm an elite play caller.
Starting point is 01:07:50 Dude, first of all, there's never been an article written that called him that. Not by anybody, ever. Can you trust the media? And second, as we were talking about this this weekend, that's how dumb this topic is. Dan and I were talking about it on the fucking weekend. He was like, can you imagine?
Starting point is 01:08:12 You imagine, dude. Imagine Kyle Shanahan. like takes a couple losses and he's up there like well you guys know I'm the best so Ben Johnson it's it's just in fact I don't like the bear's chair psychology thing but it is extremely tempting to do with Brian Schottenheimer because it's very clear that he's an insecure individual who despite being good at his profession knows and I remember what this was like I remember even we've been like this in all sorts of jobs in your life whatever people you feel like people are looking at you like, you don't belong here.
Starting point is 01:08:48 You don't belong here. And I know what that feels like. And so I feel like I can smell it on him coming from a mile away. But you can't tell people you belong. You just have to go do the stuff. You can't tell people while my dad was a coach or why I started interning here. You have to go do the thing. Otherwise, nobody's going to give a shit.
Starting point is 01:09:10 And I can promise you when you start failing, they're going to be way more fired up about it because they don't think you deserve to be there in the first place. He's just so camped out. I mean, that's probably a pretty good comp. He's a good coach who is probably in over his head. At the same time,
Starting point is 01:09:31 I think when you have a franchise quarterback and you are the offensive coach, like, it's not Shanahan and Brock Purdy. Like, Dack has more power than Chadi does. Yeah, I feel like, since Shottie's gotten here, I would say that my opinion of the offense has gone down rather than up. I feel like they had more oomph whenever it was Kellan coordinating the offense. Kellan had some great years. McCarthy obviously put up some numbers. Last year, last year's
Starting point is 01:10:02 offense was creative. Last year's offense was way different. I talked about it as much as I could. And as we continue to play armchair psychologist, I think Shottie doesn't love that the entire offseason was about Clayton Adams and Christian Parker and started leaning into it's Shottie's offense. He doesn't have to worry about the season being about Christian Parker.
Starting point is 01:10:23 Not any good news. No. He's much like Christ in that way. You know? I'll take the bullets for us, guys. I just think it's... He's really cart before the horse on a lot of things, but that's the Dallas Cowboys way.
Starting point is 01:10:40 Really? It's celebrating the big wins before the win. And you can say all that, but the other thing that's the Cowboys way is not giving a shit about your defense and kind of playing a soft brand of football. And while I'm still annoyed by Shottie, they did go get dogs. They have guys in positions they didn't have before. So they used to run a offense and defense that felt like it belonged in a picture on the Italian coast dressed in white. now they still take that picture, but they at least play football in a way that I can be proud of. Like they have big bodies.
Starting point is 01:11:21 They want to run the ball. Like they have an exciting team to me. They just have a, you know, they have a boarded pillow as a coach. He's not firing you up. I just think he spends a lot of time on focusing on mystical things like brotherhood and momentum. him and when you do that and then things do go awry, but you've convinced yourself and all the people involved and everything that these things are elite,
Starting point is 01:11:52 the brotherhood of every, okay, then what? Why is George Pickens's blocking then? What are we left to criticize here then? It must be your exes and owes. And now he's on the, well, I'm an elite play call it. Really? Okay. How about I don't give a, right?
Starting point is 01:12:08 I don't care about brotherhood. I don't. Like you can't start with that. When the fan first started, the radio station, the fan, they wanted to do a lot of things like the ticket. Hell, I might even charge that the freak might have done some of this, although a lot of those people already had pre-existing relationships. So that's a different, they were actually friends. But when the fan first started, I remember them trying to have shows mingle, have shows. like let's recreate that friendship, the brotherhood of the ticket.
Starting point is 01:12:42 Do you know how that like developed? Like I didn't start at the ticket and all of a sudden like I was Mike Reiner's brother. Not by year four, not by year five. Like it takes a long time. It just takes time being together, going through the shit together, having this boss, having the ratings dip together, having this happened. You know, different stuff happens. And then you turn around after a while and you're like, man, we've been through it. I can relate to you.
Starting point is 01:13:08 You can relate to me. Like, we have this thing. You don't start with it, though. And that's what Shadi does. You're going to have a really strong brotherhood, and you're going to have a reunion every year when you win a Super Bowl. You know, you're going to love those guys a lot more for some reason. You know, even though you hated a few of the guys.
Starting point is 01:13:31 Eh, but that helped me get to that point. Like, you don't, he's building it the right. wrong way. And I've said it from the beginning. And I just think a lot of that stuff is just, it just is who shot he is. He just, he is a coach where you can hear 30 seconds of him talking. And if it's the right 30 seconds, you know he's never going to win anything. Like what you just played, there's no chance that they make a conference championship game
Starting point is 01:14:00 with that guy, like just based on that. then Jake you mentioned like the pickings blocking is you know hey when looking at film and then shoddy will even kind of slip it in there in the press conferences right well we need you know he's got to block as hard as you know Javante does for him to you know get a big catch he's got to do the big you know the media kind of dip their toe into it but there wasn't a lot of follow-up But this is what Pickens said Friday. How he indicated that he would like for you to block better, especially in the run game? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:38 How do you think you've been doing that area? I feel like, like I said, as a team, I feel like run, pass, a lot of stuff. You know what I mean? One week it was, you guys were saying defense, one week you're saying this. I feel like if you narrow the comments down, you're talking about the team. So most definitely, I feel like as a team just keep improving. What if we didn't talk about it as a team, though? More about you.
Starting point is 01:15:02 And that was asked and answered then. They didn't dive into that. But it's interesting, though. A lot of people can look a block better. I like to judge how the season is going by what GP looks like on a Wednesday when he's getting interviewed. And when he's got his hoodie over his head tied like Cartman or excuse me like Kenny and sunglasses on, you know that things are going very poorly. Very poorly.
Starting point is 01:15:26 When he looks like he's going skiing to talk to the media, he's like, fuck. But you know what, though? Like, that guy cares. I got to tell you, I wasn't sure. You read a lot about him when he comes in. You watch any of the, like, mic'd-ups they do. For better or worse, that guy, it's not a problem of giving a shit. He might be for worse.
Starting point is 01:15:47 I think that he cares enough that whenever it starts being clear to him that they're going to lose, he's upset to the point of no longer contributing. I wonder if he cares. He certainly cares. getting a big contract at the end of this season. And right now, I mean, what are his numbers now? What's he on pace for? It's not going to matter.
Starting point is 01:16:12 It's not going to matter. He's getting 30 plus no matter what? 30. Yeah. You think 40? Watch the league yesterday. He has 700 yards. Just tell me, there's 10 teams you throw that guy on, and it is a different ball game.
Starting point is 01:16:25 I would think that the Cowboys are one of those. Right. I'm just saying, whether it's here or elsewhere, he could end the year with 900. yards and he's going to end up getting 38 million. All right, let's review the movie that we all saw this weekend. The Nathan Fielder movie in just a minute.
Starting point is 01:16:47 God, this place officially sucks worse than the WNBA. And at the top of the second half, it's 16 to 9. Easton leads the scoring with 4. And that's why she commands $7,000 a year. These gals sure do make it look difficult. But is having this minor skill,
Starting point is 01:17:03 worth being so unattractive? That's for the fan to decide. Yay! You're listening to The Dumb Zone. Promoting the Halloween show. Friday. Conne Roso, Saxy.
Starting point is 01:17:27 Do you know how much Conne Roso pizza we're going to eat this week? I'm going to love all of it. We had, we got tonight, Pilf Catering will be here. They set up in the driveway. Go to Pilf. Group.com.
Starting point is 01:17:42 You can check out, you know, get your own cowboy watching party. Of course, we have the pizza truck tonight. I think they got a couple of them, though. Got the wood-fired oven they could bring to your house. Pilf catering. They're great. Just ask us. Oh, time for a movie review crew.
Starting point is 01:18:03 Last time we got this crew together was after I went and saw the movie Backrooms. It was sweeping the nation. This segment will be brought to us by Plum Quick and the home of the Plum Quick Home Membership where you can prevent plumbing problems. Oh, look at that. Illiteration. Save on repairs, get priority service,
Starting point is 01:18:30 get that water heater flood. I didn't know you're supposed to do that. No. No, many such cases. But they'll come out and flush it as part of that. home membership, they'll clean your drains, do a camera inspection. They'll waive the service fee and you'll get 10% off repairs up to 500 bucks. Anyway, joining us now, it is our movie review. crew, Kent and Eden will join us here. We have Kent, is of course from the Mad About Movies podcast.
Starting point is 01:19:19 Not that I want to send you there right now because you're on our podcast, but they did a really good breakdown of the movie that I saw yesterday, excuse me, this weekend. And that we've all seen, I believe, now, you can see everything. The Nathan Fielder movie. with, I guess it's a documentary on Elizabeth Holmes. Eden, do you read me? Yep. Okay.
Starting point is 01:19:50 And you've seen this movie, correct? Everybody here's seen the movie. Absolutely. Including Jake, who saw it last night at 10 p.m. So... Did you get out of there, 2 a.m., Jake? Yeah, just about 1.30. That's commitment.
Starting point is 01:20:09 Were you able to hold your water for three hours? I was. That was the thing. I had to prep, like, not drink a couple hours ahead of time. I knew it was a three-hour movie. Same. I prepped, brought in Lucy's, brought snacks, my own snacks. There you go.
Starting point is 01:20:24 All right. I don't know where to start here. It is like the talk of the movie world. I guess start with Kent, who has the movie podcast. Because you guys broke it down great. You also broke it down with, you know, a lot of audio from, like, the filmmaker. Is it Robert? What's his name?
Starting point is 01:20:51 What's Oppenheim's number? Lance. Lance. Robert Oppenheimer, right? That's a different guy. Right. Lance Oppenheim is the filmmaker that Nathan Fielder worked with on this. Is this a documentary, Kent?
Starting point is 01:21:06 That was one of my first questions when I walked out. I know I went in being told it was a documentary. I walked out and wondering, was this a documentary that I watched? Yeah, in my opinion, it's certainly a documentary. You can make the case for either, I guess. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it. I think we have to spoil it right now, right? Yeah, is this going to be a spoil for your view?
Starting point is 01:21:28 Assume everyone listening to this has heard it. You definitely should go see it or hit pause on this segment if you haven't. But yeah, they bring in an actress, Amanda Seifred, Seifred, I believe. It's pronounced. I don't remember for sure. But yeah, they bring her in. They do some reenactments. That comes up, right?
Starting point is 01:21:48 Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that was great. It does. Yeah, the whole pronouncing thing is a good bit in the movie. Yeah, they do some reenactments, some somewhat scripted stuff based on Nathan's recollection of visiting Elizabeth Holmes in prison. So, yeah, I think you can make an argument for either, but I'm a stigma documentary. What were your first thoughts when you walked out, Jake? It was certainly interesting.
Starting point is 01:22:19 I don't know. I don't want to say that I feel like it's being overrated because that feels like something I would say. But I think that – let me tell you this. I was driven crazy for much of my life by the fact that when I would talk about my memories with my – particularly my mom, it was very clear we did not have the same recollection of my childhood. I'd be like remember, you know, this happened. She's like, no, no. And then I would talk to my dad and he'd be like, that happened.
Starting point is 01:22:51 And, you know, then you start to understand like the idea of memory being like a shared collective experience. And honestly, it drove me insane because I could not understand how other people were not experiencing. Like, I'm like, this was traumatic for me. And it seems like you don't even remember that it happened. And so then I just got addicted to drugs and alcohol and was like, I'm going to lose my fucking mind.
Starting point is 01:23:14 None of this makes any sense. And since I went to rehab, I stopped thinking about stuff like this. And I know that sounds dramatic. But I'm telling you, when I came out, I said to my mom, I'm no longer going to argue with you about reality. I'm not going to argue with anybody about it. You can, if you'd like to, but I can't do it. Nathan Fielder is obsessed with that little part of life of what is reality,
Starting point is 01:23:38 and I can't be because it will drive me insane. So I watch a movie like this and I feel bad, almost feel bad for. him and feel bad for how I used to feel, which is you can get caught up in this stuff. What is real? What does somebody mean? What is the truth? And you will go insane. I chose to stop.
Starting point is 01:23:56 So I got bored. I got bored during the movie being like, yep, we don't know if she's lying or not. What else? Couldn't you argue that like not being interested in what is reality is the insane thing? What is insanity? Well, I think back to that. Lack of concern for reality. I think back to that quote from McConaughey's character and true detective where he's like human consciousness was a mistake in evolution.
Starting point is 01:24:21 As an animal, you're not supposed to be able to be thinking about these things. The fact that you are probably means you should just kill yourself because you're not going to resolve it in your head. Right? That's why he suggests walking hand in hand together into the ocean to start over. Your brain is too smart for your animal body. So I'm choosing to just live as an animal. I got bored during the movie. I felt like they were overbaking the same thing of like, yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:24:47 Maybe she's lying. Maybe she's not. I got bored. That is the... I also enjoyed it. Right. That's the... Three hours is a lot.
Starting point is 01:24:57 The crux of the whole thing is she lying or not. And that's not, no, it is what is lying. I think the crux is what is lying and what acts of lies of ovation, co-mission, wording. If you believe it is it lying? Right. What was I... What was in my heart? when I said it.
Starting point is 01:25:13 When I first walked out, I texted this, I think, to Kent. I don't know, maybe Eden. I've talked to both about it. Every hour that passes, I like the movie more. When I first walked out, I would say I had more of what you're saying right now. Interesting. Okay, I like Nathan. I like what he's done, but I don't.
Starting point is 01:25:35 And the more I just keep thinking about it, and I think about it. And I think about it, like, as a film. Like, okay, then his choices, you know. the fact that they, the first hour and a half is basically him with Elizabeth Holmes. She gave him 30 days access to her. Where I guess that's where the title comes from. Like you could see everything. You could have full access to me.
Starting point is 01:25:58 She texted him. Yeah, it's the text, which I would love to talk about that with you guys. I wanted to talk with Eden about it. Even, Eden, because I don't know much about Eden and her film taste, but Dan used to say that she loved when they would shout out the title of a movie in the movie. like how lame that is that's what they did she writes you can see everything by the way but it's she's she was talking to him she was just talking to him then she goes down to the beach he's on the porch so they can see each other but they're a good distance away and she's now with
Starting point is 01:26:32 his husband with her husband and she texts him you can see everything by the way like that is very what is that mean and then the way that he thumbs up they should show him thumbs up and then it shows her take the phone out of her pocket to see that. That gave me chills just thinking about it. Like, that was really weird. But the fact that I know Nathan Fielder is behind this, I question whether that was the actual sequence of events or did he just film her looking at her phone at some point and thought, you know what, I'm going to throw that in there.
Starting point is 01:27:01 Right. Where it looks like she's responding to me. What? I think it's definitely possible, Dan. I think this is a masterclass in editing a movie. Yeah, I mean, she is a famous liar. So many facial reactions. She's a famous liar.
Starting point is 01:27:16 He's a famous deceptor. Yeah. Eden? What do you, overall, I guess, as you walked out, I don't know. What do you want to throw in here? On Jake's point that, like, number one, with the title of the movie,
Starting point is 01:27:33 I would give it a lot more grace because it is a documentary and you have to name it something. That's true. It's not like, hey, run, die hard, run. Yes. Cannibal Run too again. Fair.
Starting point is 01:27:47 But I would say on the point that like it's about reality and and like is she lying, is she not? I would say this movie almost makes the point that it doesn't matter because like if she's this masterclass manipulator like at the end of the day, what is she getting out of it? She's not getting anything out of it right now. she's going to jail. She's living this miserable life with this miserable husband. Like she's clearly torturing herself in some way by living this awful life.
Starting point is 01:28:22 Like she's punishing herself, whether she knows it or not. So I don't think it really matters if she's lying because she's not that happy about it. She's convinced herself she's happy. That's a good point because wouldn't she get less? less time if she like came clean and stuff. Yeah. So she's like almost like a biblical or like mythological. Like she,
Starting point is 01:28:48 to her point, it doesn't matter if she's lying because she's going with the consequences of the truth that she's living with. Like her life would be better if she were honest about it. And then maybe she gets three years, right? Four years. And they tell her you can never be involved in patents again. But like she's eating the case as if she were guilty.
Starting point is 01:29:08 It's very weird. I didn't think about that. Like, she could end this. She, the movie certainly makes a case for that. She says in the movie, I could have settled. You know, I could have just said, you know what, you're right, I did this, we're settling, here's some money, let's forget about this, and move on. She's either clinically delusional, which they paint in here, is certainly possible.
Starting point is 01:29:36 I mean, how do you not understand the who's on first, the whole bit with that? Or she's the victim. And they paint that picture too. I'm a victim of these men who have used me and abused me for my entire life. I don't think it's one or the other. I think it's kind of a mixture of all those things. She's a professional liar. So I took everything she said in this movie as a lie.
Starting point is 01:30:04 she basically had 30 days to rehab her image before she was going to be in prison forever. This is her last chance to get some kind of positive PR out there. And now she's got half the country thinking she's just this sweet girl who was in a really tough situation and has these cute kids. She's a professional liar. I think this was all her plan all along. Now you started that whole thought there, Kent, by saying, you know, she did say I could have settled. and do we know that's true? I'm sure.
Starting point is 01:30:36 We don't, maybe without knowing it's true, but that's normally how it works. Yeah, I know, but you said that and then you said, but I don't believe anything she said in the whole movie, so. Yeah. True. Yeah. She was also saying, oh, here's the prototype, and I heard one of your co-hosts on your show saying, actually she didn't, she wasn't showing,
Starting point is 01:30:57 or was this another interview you played? Like, she actually wasn't showing. Nathan, the true... That was Tyler Schultz, the whistleblower, who kind of blew this story open about a decade ago. He was interviewed again after seeing this and was like, that device that she shows Nathan was not the device we were using at all. That was just something that Elizabeth had. Maybe it's a prototype for a future device, something that they never developed fully,
Starting point is 01:31:24 but she was able to convince Nathan and the audience that here's the device and it also, it does everything that I said it would do. Yeah, I mean, how would she know she could pull that off? Right. Yeah, she plays dumb like she doesn't know who Nathan is, but Nathan said that the reason they found out about this is because she went to A24 to say, hey, I want somebody to document me for the next 30 days. How do you know the A24 scene and like that entire alternative side of cinema comedy culture without knowing anything about Nathan or not. Googling the guy before he's at your house. Like, this was all...
Starting point is 01:32:06 Oh, her claims that she didn't know anything about Nathan, yeah. Yeah. The boyfriend did. Mm-hmm. Or theoretical husband. Are they only not married because then they could take her money? I mean, that's an easy thing to assume. I feel like it's safe to say.
Starting point is 01:32:23 Yeah, she says a lot of weird stuff like that, though, where this is convoluted, but in some point, the actress who plays her, Amanda, the actress who plays her in the Hulu version of it is actually at her house with Nathan Fielder while she's in prison. And she calls home. Yeah, this is great. And she says, they're on speakerphone and it's Elizabeth Holmes's boyfriend and their kids and they're all on speaker. And then the actor says, did you know I was going to be here?
Starting point is 01:32:51 And she says, I don't know, kind of. I don't know if I knew that. I don't know if I knew that. It's just a very like, it doesn't, it's incongru. It doesn't, nobody would say that. Like, no human being, like, you either do or you don't know that this famous actress you've heard of was going to be at your house. You learn aggressively nothing from that answer. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:33:11 Exactly. Yeah, it's militantly obfuscating. And you can tell. The actress is like, what? Yes or no. But I, to me, that was one of the most interesting things about this is the actress angle. Because, and I mean, like I say, I'm not good at the theater thing we did the other night. I can't do it. I'm not good at pretending to be somebody else.
Starting point is 01:33:34 But the actress watching Elizabeth Holmes watch her play her on television and wrestle with the idea of like what is depiction, what is license, like how far can art go? Yeah, you're allowed to just say, well, that's TV. Yeah, and then she starts hitting her in the vagina with like, oh, you're going to make another woman look bad like this, huh? That seems like a messed up thing for a woman to do to another woman. and then it feels like the actress is kind of feeling it. Yeah. Like, damn. And then Amanda goes, she did this, she did this to herself.
Starting point is 01:34:06 And that's the right answer. I thought it was a great line. That is a resolute answer, but everyone involved is sort of thinking inside. I don't know. I don't know. I'm not sure how I feel. All right. I want to know what you guys think of this thought I've been having.
Starting point is 01:34:18 And I'll start with Eden, I guess. Like the stuff, obviously once you add in the actress that played her in a TV series, now is this is where it's a Nathan project. Sure. You know, anybody could have done that first half. And now it's Nathan Fielder. You know, did they sit on this for a couple of years and then decide to reach out to her? You know, when my...
Starting point is 01:34:47 So because it's Nathan Fielder and because now this is an actress and a good actress, it makes me question a lot going on in that whole... last hour and a half. For instance, they seem to be talking about the whole thing in different parts, but it seems to be one continuous conversation. And so I'm going off of my memory. Correct me if I'm wrong. Like they're standing out in a field.
Starting point is 01:35:16 First she has a horse and she's kissing her horse. Then they're out in the middle of her field. Then they're sitting under a tree. Then they're over here. But it all seems to be the same conversation. which to me is like, wait, you were in the middle of this thought, and then we move the camera guys and the lights and we put them by the tree. Okay, now let's pick up the conversation here.
Starting point is 01:35:38 All right, well, you're an actress. Okay, let's go stand over here and now we're going to do it there. To me, that almost renders that stuff. Like, was that a real conversation? Or was that, what do you think about that, Eden, and TC2 as filmmaker, I guess. Did that jump out to you? Like, this is kind of set up. It didn't really jump out to me as, like, incredibly staged other than, like, I had the thought maybe they're recreating a conversation that they already had.
Starting point is 01:36:13 I didn't think that it was, like, ridiculously untrue to life or anything. The scene where they visit Billy and then Nathan and Amanda are talking in the rental car like it's a Chevy SUV. I was really fixated on this because I don't know the answer, but this is what made me start thinking about the kind of stuff you're talking about. That the close-ups on them, the blue that's like illuminating their faces, just to me, I thought it was exceptionally beautiful. and they had wide shots where they're both talking, where if they were adding other lights, you would be able to see them through the hood of the car on the wide shot. If it's just an actual conversation where there's two different,
Starting point is 01:37:04 you would have three cameras, one on Nathan, one on Amanda, and then one capturing both of them. And if it were the case that they are doing something to make those close-ups look good, and it's just one continuous conversation, you would be able to see the lights in the wide shot, but you can't. So it's definitely possible that the cameras are so good that just the lights from the instrument panel are enough to make their faces look like that.
Starting point is 01:37:31 But I'd be a little surprised if that were the case. And if it weren't, then they are having the conversation once, saying cut, setting up the close-up shots, adding in some blue lights coming from outside of the car, and then saying, all right, do all that again. And at the point where you ask yourself, like, would they do that? Like, definitely they would, right? And that's the part that made me think about, like, our job and the part that drives me crazy sometimes is because then it's like, all right, is Billy doing that? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:38:01 Like when Billy talks, is that all just him talking? Or can Billy be like, oh, I didn't like that one, actually. Let me take another crack at that. So we're playing radio here. We're not here. Which is the time where we're... But is Billy going to say, hey, I want to seem like more of an asshole? Like, it...
Starting point is 01:38:16 No, I mean, I guess... He saw him. It wasn't him looking at... good. And they leave it in every time he says cut. No, he's my, I wish I could somehow be him for Halloween. Because he's my favorite character on Earth right now. Just despicable, awful human being.
Starting point is 01:38:31 I just, him on the phone saying, way protein split into two cups. I've just been saying that to myself the last eight hours. It was just so funny to see the actress. Way protein, split two cups. But the actress pick up the egg bowl and kind of hold it and look at it. It's if she was feeling the energy of Elizabeth. with Holmes through this egg bowl, and she could feel the assholeishness of Billy. Man, I'll tell you what, from a filmmaking standpoint, whatever you guys have done over the last 10 to 15 years to decide that we got to look at people's faces when they're not talking.
Starting point is 01:39:05 Oof. That didn't used to exist. Let's just leave this camera on you. Look at every little imperfection and every little weird thing you got going on in your eyebrows. Zoomed in while you think. not talk think those yeah
Starting point is 01:39:19 it's 200 millimeter lens shots yeah to chime in on what tc was saying they actually he'll this might answer his question yeah all natural light with this movie
Starting point is 01:39:30 yeah they said that all natural light they had like five people on the crew they had three camera guys a sound mixer and like a producer I think the only people that did it
Starting point is 01:39:43 yeah so they when they first got there, Nathan didn't even want to be in this, but they just kept asking him questions and making him a part of the conversation. So they had to, their initial plan was like, we're going to have a wide on the, on the house. And then so anything that happens, we're going to, we're going to have footage of it. And then they pretty quickly decided, oh, no, we need to shoot these people's faces. So that's what the movie kind of became was we're pretty far away. And these people have no idea whether I'm zoomed in on their face, whether I'm on the two of them, whether I'm on the
Starting point is 01:40:19 entire house. And so it gave them the ability to do something really cool in the edit, but not have the people talking, have any idea, oh, this is a close-up shot of our conversation, of whispering or anything like that. So it creates these really kind of insane natural moments put through a cinematic lens of like, you know, here's a close-up, here's a medium shot. Here's an over- the shoulder like you would normally see in a normal narrative movie and again one of the most insanely creative things i've ever seen edited put together you can't look away even like i found some plot points boring what was happening visually on the screen the whole time was just enthralling yeah fielder and oppenheim are probably certainly both in my top five as far as people making things
Starting point is 01:41:10 in the last five to ten years and they both just put their imprint on a it's so much. Like it feels like it's hard to say because like they're not the same at all. But you really do walking away feeling like that was a ton of Nathan and a ton of Lance. What Dan was saying earlier about the second half being kind of a separate thing. I think that's really where the genius of this comes in is Nathan and Lance being able to sit on this thing for a year or two years. Be like what does this need? The first half when she, they show up to she goes to jail would have been a great documentary. Everybody would have left, be like, yep, really enjoyed it.
Starting point is 01:41:50 Wow, what a cool insight into somebody's last 30 days before going to federal prison for fraud. But then the second half, when they decide, oh, Billy's one of the worst people of all time. And also, we can get Amanda involved in this and we can talk about it becomes a documentary about the documentary. That's when it becomes an all-time great film. is those two years of them being able to decide what does this need to make it great and boy they found it a big part of the movie ends up being will uh billy and by extension then elizabeth holmes get any money from the movie and i get that we say in this day and age it's weird if there's a tom brady documentary out that he's involved in he's certainly financials
Starting point is 01:42:43 You know, Jerry Jones documentary on Netflix. Jerry Jones got $100 million to be a part of that. And my question is, why is that bad if you sign something saying, I'll get points on the back end. Love to say that. Don't exactly know what it means. I think it means a percentage of the profits. But I love to say it.
Starting point is 01:43:08 If you did have a contract that says, but you have no editorial control at all. Because I'm not going to see this movie if it's about, I don't know. I mean, the reason this has mass appeal is Elizabeth Holmes. Like, you're going to see her. You're going to see this movie. I think they should make money on the back end. Why should just the movie producers,
Starting point is 01:43:33 now that this is blowing up, it's blowing up because it's Elizabeth Holmes and she's putting her bare ass out there. Billy is putting his, like. Not like I was told she would, by the way. You got nudity. You got Billy's wiener. And that was great. Yeah, it was awesome.
Starting point is 01:43:49 But I was told. We're all loving it. Nice piece. Yeah. Anyways, I'm not going to do it. Like, is that? How many takes was that? Because obviously Billy's proud that he's looking good and got a flaccid hog, but it's still pretty big.
Starting point is 01:44:03 Right? Right? Is he like, yeah, let's do that again? But it didn't see, unless he's in on this great roo. it didn't seem like he had editorial control because it makes him look horrible. No. So why is this bad? Should they have been able to get money?
Starting point is 01:44:22 Because at the end then, it was like, well, Billy gave up the money at the end. Does that make you believe it more? That is the idea. Or is it just that they badgered him into that? It's that as well. But the idea, at least from a journalism standpoint, not saying I don't know that I have a firm opinion, but is the idea that if somebody goes in knowing that they are going to be compensated, it will change their story.
Starting point is 01:44:45 Perhaps they will add things to it to make it even more bombastic and theatrical, chasing a bigger payday at the end of more people. If I come out and say I killed a guy. Well, then it's weird to think throughout the whole filming, you're going to make money and then at the very end, give it up. To me, that was the weirdest part, is that this wasn't settled beforehand. They were still talking about it. You know, and I don't know.
Starting point is 01:45:08 I do feel dirty about the fact that. They also knew this is not a good movie without them. But if the 824 people were good people, though, they would set up some sort of like little scholarship fund for... The babies? The kids, yeah. But it's very tricky. How often are people that are going to get a big bag of money, just known as good people who want to give some of that bag of money? And that's messed up, too, because she doesn't deserve it.
Starting point is 01:45:32 She's a bad person. You know, she's caused a lot of pain. Yeah, to the question you're starting with, like what's it about? Like I thought that it was about, I mean, it's, it's a character study of her.
Starting point is 01:45:45 Like, it's establishing first that, like, she's the weirdest person you could possibly imagine. Like, so, like, I just,
Starting point is 01:45:52 I have a hard time making any kind of clear pronouncements about any of this because I just, she exists so entirely outside of how I think about people. But then getting into the stuff of like, how she interacts with these men in her lives. and how that defines who she is. Of, like, she seems to... The fact that she's found someone like Billy again
Starting point is 01:46:18 and, like, chose to be here, like, she... It's trying to recreate the thing that she had with Sunny. Like, that's what she likes. That's what she wants in her life. Is a total idiot, like, alongside her, commanding her to do this, this and this. And, like, shielding her from...
Starting point is 01:46:35 Oh, you believe the opposite, then. It's not the man that's... forcing her into these actions. Yeah, well, the point she's, like, she got Sunny out of her life, and then she was like, how can I get back to the good old days of having someone like Sunny? Like, the fact that Billy's there, like, all of this, yeah. Yeah. And so I think that the plot line of the money thing is how they expose all this.
Starting point is 01:47:02 You know, so I don't know the answer to your question of like, is it a good idea, bad idea, but just like in terms of trying to understand Elizabeth and trying to understand, like, because it's so revealing that she's remade the sunny relationship in her life, and that's how they show it. And I don't know, you know, where this is particularly, like, lofted up for the female on the panel here. But I find it weird when there's just a guy who's like, oh, yeah, everything changed when she was raped. And then we just kind of, we don't really come back to that. I think he's right.
Starting point is 01:47:33 Despite the fact that, like, male, like, her... Why do we drop that in then? It was crazy. Like, I thought Nathan would... Like, I thought next we were going to be, like, sitting in the guy who raped her's bungalow and fucking Reno or something, you know? Yeah. Because that felt like a huge...
Starting point is 01:47:50 As you're talking about her relationship to males, her dad, and I'm just imagining being a dad. Like, he says it somewhat frivolously. No, it wasn't when she... It was when she got cut from the team. No, it was when she was raped. Well, it's so nathes just to drop these things in and then never go back to it. Same thing with, he worked at Enron.
Starting point is 01:48:10 So over here, wait, one of the most deceptive. But what did he do? A lot of people worked. Did he sweep the floor? Did he? No, in the boardroom? Whatever you know, like the rest, like his, all of his other jobs, like, scream spy. Like, see, like, he's like the, right now he works the Boston Consulting Group.
Starting point is 01:48:32 like heading up like their Middle East stuff. So like just the sort of thing, like I don't know. That guy, her dad, I'd like to see a documentary on him. And someone like that, you know that like he's attempting to deploy power around the world. And you would hope like if I can get anything done out of that, it would be keep my family safe. And the fact that he has failed in this very central way to keep his family safe. I don't know, I could think about that for a week. Can I say, Eden, who you sat and talked to about this movie for a while?
Starting point is 01:49:10 I don't know. I actually don't know that. A popular film critic I spoke to about this movie. And I would say we sort of agreed that she was not as deceptive as you guys are all. saying that she is, which is kind of crazy to say. Oh, so? But, like, I would, I wouldn't, like, posit her as, like, this perfect victim maybe that, that you guys think that she's trying to come off as, but maybe more so an imperfect one,
Starting point is 01:49:54 a girl who got raped at 19, and she is manipulating people, but also is a, involved with this 40-year-old man when she's still a teenager. And then she meets a guy at a party who, after speaking to her, decides that he is going to be very involved in her life because he's someone who wants power and he sees an opportunity. And I don't think she's as stupid as she tries to come off as, I think she knows who's on first. But at the same time, I think she is someone who's very childish, like in the scene where she's getting scanned for her AI. Like she starts crying and you think that she's crying because of how dystopian this situation is. Like she's getting an AI scan so that she can have a fake version of herself, talk to her kids,
Starting point is 01:50:52 but she's crying because she doesn't like this picture of herself from the past. But isn't that in and of itself emblematic of her? not liking how she's being represented, but at the same time she trusts her husband or her boyfriend so much that she gives into this feeling of love? I don't know. I don't think that she's being as manipulative as you say she is because what is she getting out of it? She's getting 11 years. Half the country thinking she's the same person. I mean, as far as what she's getting out of the relationship, like I, the rough outline I would sketch is that this rape occurs,
Starting point is 01:51:39 you know, then it's like, all right, I'm living in a world that's far more dangerous than I previously realized how am I going to protect myself? And her response is like, I'm just, I'm going to have a man around to, you know, figure this stuff out for me. And so I don't think that it's like proof that she's like a master manipulator or whatever. But, you know, it feels to me like it's definitely she needed a strategy to cope with the situation. And this is the strategy. Like, I'm going to have a guy who's nearby that, you know, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:52:11 I haven't watched a, yeah. Yeah. I think that's very valid. I think it is like kind of a somebody is going to make this okay for me. Like she had her dad who she grew up under him at Enron. but he got out of that. Things were okay for him. But right now, things are very much so not okay for her.
Starting point is 01:52:39 And I think she thinks that Billy is the answer and whatever he's saying is the answer for her. You know what's crazy is as terrible as I think both these people are? I really, they're very much in love. Like they feel very much, you've ever been around too crazy people. sometimes they care about each other. I want what they have. Deeply, deeply.
Starting point is 01:53:04 Deeply. It's almost kind of beautiful. I thought one of the big things was that they both at separate times said essentially the same thing about I don't need to talk to the other one. Like they live in my head and I'm constantly in conversation with that. Because if one person said that to you, you'd be like, that's insane. There's no way your partner feels that way. You're a liar. And then you go to them.
Starting point is 01:53:27 It's like, yeah, no, I'm building monuments of love to Billy in my mind. It's like, that's crazy because that's what he said. Yeah, yeah. Another very Nathan thing that was left hanging that bothered me. The dick. No, that didn't bother me at all. I loved it. It was left hanging, though.
Starting point is 01:53:44 It was. The New York Times quote that was the big crux of it all, that she created the character that she is playing, or that the world created the character. and labeled her as the character, especially because they, again, this is Nathan. He's got a thousand hours of footage. He chose three hours to put in, or I should say an hour and a half.
Starting point is 01:54:09 And this is what he's feeding me. And I'm just acting like this is the whole story. And I realized that. But it's the, they tossed in a few times. Well, we have all the recordings. We recorded every single word we ever talked to. All right, well, give me those. I got Nata.
Starting point is 01:54:26 I can go through the transcripts. I can, and he did ask him a couple times, and a couple times kind of got brushed off. Like, I would push for that hard. And I would look through that whole thing, and I'll find the woman or man, I don't know who the author was that wrote that article, that had that quote,
Starting point is 01:54:45 and then I would dispute it that way and say, here, here's every word in the sentence was right until you had that quote. Or does that mean that she's lying, and Billy knows that, and that's why I didn't give it to you. Or did Nathan think, you know what, I'm not going to push for it
Starting point is 01:55:02 because that will leave the perception that she's lying and that you don't, like I want to keep that question out there. I don't want that question to be answered. I don't know. That's just one. Like I said, the more I think about it, the more I like it,
Starting point is 01:55:18 but also the more I get kind of driven crazy and even today in our talk, you guys have thrown some things in there I hadn't thought of. Well, you were saying earlier about take two on stuff, like, oh, let's do another take of that. I don't think that's the case with this, but I do think there are things in Billy and Liz's life that were a take two for this documentary. You really think they saw that New York Times article for the first time when Nathan was there
Starting point is 01:55:50 and they're reacting to it together? You really think they didn't watch the dropout? when it came out. Yeah, I wonder about that. Oh, let's get her raw reaction to this. You don't think if they made an IJB show that you guys would watch it? 100%. Eden, how, have you heard of who's on first before this movie?
Starting point is 01:56:11 Yes. Okay. I think... I've never met anyone who hasn't. To me, that, I mean, Eden is as far away... I don't believe that somebody hasn't seen that, though. That's what I'm saying. But not like...
Starting point is 01:56:22 She's my age. She's old, though. Yeah. that's what I mean if Eden has seen it or knows what it is at least and do you have in a tech bro not being like
Starting point is 01:56:34 aware of Abbott and Costello but I can't believe somebody watching it and not understanding it I don't believe her there at all I don't believe that she doesn't understand that I think that's her trying to come off as stupid or just trying to say this is how I can be the person that didn't
Starting point is 01:56:52 understand it can do these tests? I have to then... He's being willfully up to us, for sure. I have to back that up. I have to show that I'm the kind of person that would not understand can and can. I just say stuff.
Starting point is 01:57:08 Yeah, I don't know the meaning of words. I'm a robot. But like so unconvincingly, in a way that, like, you would have to think she would know it's going to come back on her. Like, I don't know, man. I can't read her. I have no confidence about making any speculation
Starting point is 01:57:24 about why she's saying any of the things she's saying in the movie because it's all so weird to me. Jake, do you feel like after this conversation, does this enhance or not change your opinion or anything about it? No, I think it's a movie you go see to talk about. I think that's the fun part of it. I think two hours and 55 minutes in the theater, at some point you're like, I get it. But I also will tell you that from a personal standpoint, this sort of internal debate will make, it drives me crazy. And I've just kind of tried to steer clear of it. Well, we walked out.
Starting point is 01:57:59 My wife, the first thing she said is I think she's guilty. What do you think? Be your own people, Eden. But I don't know. Is it, like we say, is the movie about that? No. Not at all. No.
Starting point is 01:58:15 It's just, yeah, it's like Eden said. It's a fragile reality. Then it's not a documentary. And you should get paid. Like, it's not a documentary. Is it a documentary? I'm sure Amanda got paid. Right.
Starting point is 01:58:32 Do you think so? Absolutely, right? She's a professional actress. Your agent probably has a... Who knows? I don't know. Eden would know better. I don't know. It's not like whenever Norm sat down for pony excess, he didn't get paid.
Starting point is 01:58:49 Interesting. Well, usually they're paid in... I think what Billy was asking for, which they ended up giving it to him. they said because this wasn't going to even start filming unless they gave it to them would be back in like a producer credit if you have a producer credit you have a right to produce the movie as you see fit right like these um you know the hard knocks the the team has a right editorial control over what goes out there so giving billy and liz editorial control over this would defeat the entire purpose of of doing it because they could
Starting point is 01:59:24 choose how it's put out there. So, yeah. My last question is what happened to his face in those two years? How come his face looks... You know what happened. Is that coke? Is that what people are saying? It's just not clean living.
Starting point is 01:59:39 I would anticipate that coke is somewhere in there. Because everybody kept saying he seemed coky, and in the first part, he didn't at all to me. Yeah. But after she goes to prison, he seems like he's been on an 18-month bender. And he's... Any chance he's gone 899 days without... sex with someone else? No, no chance. And he didn't even... You think there's no chance?
Starting point is 02:00:00 None. If my wife went to prison, I'd go 900 days without sex. Not only has he absolutely had sex. He didn't even get it right. He said Pamela Henderson. He didn't even say Palmola. He didn't even get the fucking jackoff pun right. There could be a... You don't have to do it. It's overdoing it. Pamela Henderson's better. It's Palma. Just one man's opinion. Just like everything, we can debate that. He's definitely drunk when he's talking whenever he says that, right?
Starting point is 02:00:32 I think so. Yeah, yeah. And they start arguing about Charlie Kirk. That was so good. Now I'm back in. Let me sit up in my seat here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just such a fun little thing.
Starting point is 02:00:43 Like stuff Dan's talking about it. We're going to put this one thing in there. You're going to wonder about it forever. We're never going to go back to it. Yeah. He loves Charlie Kirk. No elaboration. This is fun
Starting point is 02:00:55 Well, anyway Thank you, Eden Thank you, Kent The Mad About Movies podcast On this particular subject I'll say they're all good But I know this one is exceptionally good I like the way you guys weaved in
Starting point is 02:01:11 Kent's co-hoek I couldn't catch if you read The book called Bad Blood You have as well? Okay Yeah, yeah We were all We were talking about it a bunch
Starting point is 02:01:22 On the show like right when it happened and pandemic. Yeah, I went having seen, I did not see the, I didn't really know a lot about Elizabeth Holmes, just the arm's length knowledge of her. So I didn't read that book. I don't know the whole thing, but I walked into that just knowing that I love Nathan.
Starting point is 02:01:41 There is another documentary out there called The Inventor that's about this. It's about the whole Theranos thing. So if you want a typical documentary, about this whole subject. It's called the inventor. That one I've seen. Off for blood.
Starting point is 02:01:56 It's really good. All right, well, thanks for joining us, guys. Thank you. Have a great day. Thank you. There's our movie review crew. The news today will be brought to us by Qualis roofing. Qualis, they got a drone that will inspect your roof that will fly around our house to show you the scene.
Starting point is 02:02:21 They'll probably be out at the Cane Rosa remote. this coming Friday. Because Qualis roofing, we've got drones. They've also got the people to deal with the insurance company for you. Get a free roof inspection, and maybe you'll end up just getting a new roof with just the deductible on your insurance, like I did. QualisGC.com. The phone number is 817-5009008. Schedule that inspection for free.
Starting point is 02:02:47 They deal with the insurance company, like Dan said. Maybe you end up with a sit-in out of the deal at QualisGC.com. Here's Jane with the Dumb Zone News. All right. At DFW Airport over the weekend, 11 counterfeit Richard Mill watches were seized. Don't know what that is. I only know, yeah, I only know what it is because of my rap music.
Starting point is 02:03:23 my pension for busted down RM yeah if I ever make it big I'm getting into watches didn't Antonio Brown get busted for that counterfeit
Starting point is 02:03:35 something about a bunch of fake watches wouldn't be surprised yeah richer meal the richer meal is one of the most faked because it's mostly plastic
Starting point is 02:03:46 interesting Swiss watchmaker yeah they didn't arrest anybody but they were coming from Jayna. $3 million worth of watches. And it happens here, huh?
Starting point is 02:04:00 Yeah. Yeah, I mean... Do they sell those around here? Like, whenever you're in New York, you know that there's places. 47th Street. Yeah, so is, like, the Big T. Bazaar? Can you get...
Starting point is 02:04:11 I've never... Probably not. Yeah, there's places. No, there are. But why are they coming here otherwise? No, no. Well, you get the fake ones at the Bazaar. But I'm asking about the fake ones.
Starting point is 02:04:22 Yeah. The fake ones aren't in North Park, right? Time, brother. No, no, you're right. There's got to be a guy who can get you a fake mill. There's a guy who just did a documentary about the Big T. Just to walk around? Really?
Starting point is 02:04:36 Yeah. He goes to like these bazaars, and he did one in St. Louis, and then he did Big T last week. I've been meeting to. I just take the cameras down there and see what happens. I'm sure. Brother, you better have the Ray Bands. You think they'll stop? me if it's real obvious?
Starting point is 02:04:56 Is that what you're saying? Okay. Camera. Mostly because you're white. Yep. Yeah, but if you act confident, people let you do stuff. Yeah, but it's harder when you have a big camera.
Starting point is 02:05:05 Yeah, you're not small camera man either. I'm saying I'm saying, ice jacket. I take the camera around and you'd be surprised how few times people say anything. The Cowboys cheerleaders are not just in the news because they
Starting point is 02:05:20 have joined the revolution. They are also in the the news because they are suing the band My Chemical Romance. Oh, no. We hate it when we see our faves fight. You got into that? I guess I never knew that about you. You've never really talked about it.
Starting point is 02:05:38 It's beautiful music. I missed that. Black parade? It just flew right past my head, man. It's not the kind of stuff where I wear a T-shirt. I don't like want people to think of, you know, like, I just, I never bought any mascara, you know, so I don't want to give anyone the wrong impression, but. We played with a lot of bands that wore mascara, AFI types.
Starting point is 02:05:59 Yeah. But I just never, that was never a fucking, couldn't do it, man. I don't know if this is true. Did I hear Stavi say recently? Because I was a big priest fan and like Iron Mate, Chad, my stepdad was into 80s metal. Beautiful. Did, uh, did metal culture and style really developed the way it did because Rob Halford was so gay? It's an interesting theory, right?
Starting point is 02:06:23 Like he was the first one. I don't know. I heard the Stabby assertion, and whenever I did, I said, God, I should look into that. You know Rob Halford, Dan? He's the lead singer of Judas Priest. Okay. Like one of the most badass metal bands ever.
Starting point is 02:06:37 And he dresses a soup. You know, if you look at metal guys, the tough guys, it's very gay. A lot of... Sebastian Bach. A lot of clothing is very strappy and leathery and tight. It does not masculine at all. And Rob Halford, who is a very badass... metal singer, extremely gay.
Starting point is 02:06:55 But at the time... Nobody knew. It was like Elton John, you know. Yeah. He just dresses cool. Let's start dressing like that. The implications for the culture. He's like, I dress like this because I suck dick. Yeah, but like you...
Starting point is 02:07:07 The fact that you didn't used to be able to say that led to a lot of confusion. Like George Michael, his entire career, like gayest guy on Earth, but was always like, I'm not gay. And in part because the record label was like, if these ladies that are getting wet for you, find out you're gay, this whole thing is toast. So you end up with a bunch of straight guys dressing like gay guys because they don't know they're gay. Yeah. They see women love them.
Starting point is 02:07:30 Yeah. I would like to. Tale is old as time. Yeah. I would also like to see if that's true. Which part? The whole if girls think that you're unavailable type thing. It is not hurt George Michael's career.
Starting point is 02:07:44 I mean, it's done now, I guess. But yeah, I think they were wrong. First started and it got traction. But I mean, they did that with John Lennon and the Beatles. don't reveal that you have a wife. You know, so they just tried to hide it. Like, they were the Beatles.
Starting point is 02:08:00 Would that have changed anything? Probably not. There's still going to be a lot of girls that are going to want to sleep with John Lennon. And there's lots of gay artists today that are big and big with women. I think it's clear that theory was a little faulty. Memphis rapper Poo Shisty
Starting point is 02:08:15 is behind bars. And this was, over a case where he pistol whipped and robbed OG rapper Gucci Main at a Dallas recording studio said he you got to get me out of this contract
Starting point is 02:08:36 and Gucci said no and he said how about I put this gun in your mouth and you signed this piece of paper and that's exactly what happened Dan did you see over the weekend Colston Loveland was asked if he could have three people at dinner dead or alive
Starting point is 02:08:52 he said Abraham Lincoln, Mike Dicka, and Poo Shisty. That's an incredible answer. Well, he is in the news because his lawyers say that he's calling a prison inhumane. Yeah. He's in Kaufman County. He's in Kaufman County Detention Center here in Texas. His lawyers say it is inhumane. the court for their part responded by citing the 12,000 emails that he sends per day.
Starting point is 02:09:31 Or excuse me, it's not per day, but he's sent 12,000 emails. He's logged 230 video calls that have lasted 45 hours. He has Netflix and is able to watch the NFL. Interesting. I mean, you always hear that they're not air-conditioned. The thing is, he has not been convicted. Yeah. So that's where we get the tricky thing here, is that his lawyer's like, look, he's a pretrial defendant.
Starting point is 02:10:00 He should not be treated like this. And he's being held in solitary for 23 hours. And then the prosecutors, it says in the article, scoffed at his request saying that Pooh has unlimited access to a tablet. I'm surprised, yeah. Yeah, they have tablets. Unlimited, though? Like, I want you to have central air. Brick got mad at me whenever I was like, hey, they don't have air conditioning.
Starting point is 02:10:31 He was like, a lot of them do. Okay. They just don't have central air. Hey, we interrupt this program right now to, uh, we need to take you to Philadelphia. Okay. Joining us now. Can you imagine as a little boy dreaming of hosting a sports talk radio show one day and having a co-host that just plays fly.
Starting point is 02:10:57 Why Eagles Fly on the day of a game on your talk show? Well, I'm doing it because we're going live to Philadelphia. I don't care. Yeah, I don't think that's a good reason. There he is. It's Blake. Blake shows up at any football game where the quarterback has been ruled out for the season. Blake walking through the...
Starting point is 02:11:23 Friday night at Argyle or... He walks through the streets of Philadelphia with female people. as we look up in me oh hey blake um who shy steak currently has more rights than my five-year-old yeah my five-year-old only gets two hours of tablet time a day or something like that yeah yeah he's living right hey guys what's going on how's bobby belt uh bobby's not on this trip for some reason who's the lineup who got who are the highlight who'd you sit with I sat next to the home radio engineer Patrick Walker was across the aisle
Starting point is 02:12:07 That is he have a scene You know just a lot of main characters you know Did you tell him you like his questions No I don't talk to him I was doing uh Is Jesse Holly there No Jesse Holly's not
Starting point is 02:12:24 Who's there from the ticket or did you say Oh Yeah, I sat next to Travis Maheha. Mejia. Okay. Former Interimvasions producer. Yeah. What were you about to say?
Starting point is 02:12:40 I feel weird. Hold my phone like this. Would you rather see me or the city? God, it's pretty, man. This is great. I love this city. A little chilly? Not really.
Starting point is 02:12:52 Like 60. Yeah, how's the weather report for Brandon tonight? It should be low 50s, pretty still. but I'll ask him when I get down there. When I got on the plane, Braynan stopped me and said, hey, who is heart attack man? Great question.
Starting point is 02:13:11 I thought that was so funny. I'm like, well, how long do you have? Here's a good to hear. We're locked in. We're locked in. On a subby only show, too. Incredible. So how are the vibes, man?
Starting point is 02:13:28 I mean, do you feel like Shottie's really? Does he feel the heat, Blake? No, because I was running a little late, per usual, getting on the airplane, and I arrived at the same time as one Brian Schottenheimer. And we were walking up to the plane together, and as the players were getting out of their car, Shottie would just yell, sup at him. That was hilarious.
Starting point is 02:13:52 Fibbs guy. I take it back. He's going to win a Super Bowl. Jake Ferguson was just getting out of his car, so Shottie looked over. He goes, Sup, Ferg. just bros being bros you know it doesn't really matter if they win as long as they're having a good time together hey let's not forget this blake segment brought to us by poncho bon often blake will wear his poncho shirt
Starting point is 02:14:13 on the trip i will tonight like in the booth uh but he also wears it like outside to exercise and stuff oh who was it was it friday it was friday yeah it was ethan yeah we had a sit-in in here and he's like hey man And you guys never talk about this, and he pulled up the inside of his poncho shirt. It has a built-in eyeglass cleaner in there. He was wiping them off right there. They sew it in there. Yeah. Like, you know how you're like, well, what's different about an eyeglass cleaner and just your regular shirt?
Starting point is 02:14:44 It's different. It's also got like that stuff to bef 50. Protect you against the sun. Doesn't, you won't sweat, right? Rinkle, wickaway. Good stuff. You don't have to iron it. Poncho Outdoors.com slash dumbzone.
Starting point is 02:15:02 Be a real gift giver this holiday season. P-O-N-C-H-O Outdoors.com slash dumbzone. Get you $10 bucks off and free shipping. They'll ship it to Philadelphia. And there he is. Have you seen the Liberty Bell? I have.
Starting point is 02:15:22 Yeah, I went to go see that last night. Yeah, what did you do last night? Now your bid is to go, you have to do things when you're in an opposing city. Well, it was tough because not a lot of stuff's going on on Sunday night. In fact, if we had played on Sunday night, I could have seen Carmina Burana at the Philadelphia Symphony on Saturday night, but missed out on it, unfortunately.
Starting point is 02:15:44 Oh, yeah, I forgot. He goes to symphonies now. Who knows? Yeah, I'm cultured. It's nice. Have you seen Tony Danza? Great question. No, I'm not.
Starting point is 02:15:58 How about the always sunny bar? Is that there? Patty's Pub. Sure. Got to be, right? I don't think it's real, right? I don't know. I thought it might be.
Starting point is 02:16:09 Certainly, like, Central Perk, right? They've opened something up like that in New York, even though it didn't exist before the show. Right. Well, you know, I would go there. I know. I can't wait until you guys have a road trip there. It already happened, right?
Starting point is 02:16:25 Yeah, it did already happen. And he didn't go? It's okay. Well, we stay in New Jersey. Yeah, but it's easy to get into the city. It's a long way. It's not easy to get into the city. It's not long at all.
Starting point is 02:16:35 It's a five-minute, walk to the path train that takes you directly to the World Trade Center site. I've done this. A lot of debate now. Am I still doing news? Yeah, go ahead. Well, you want to give Blake a story? I don't know. I mean, what is it? He's got more. He just doesn't want a small talk, which I appreciate. Yeah, continue on. Let's do the news. Federal grand jury returns a 10-count indictment charging a North Texas woman with defrauding pandemic emergency relief programs out of 680 grand.
Starting point is 02:17:10 Her name is April Watson. Somalian? Don't think so. Not a portal in here. Yeah, what is that? Let's go see maybe Ireland's on the other side or something. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 02:17:29 Those things you could flash your boobs. Blake is walking into a portal. Maybe it is Somalia. Have you seen the rock? statue? Oh yeah, he did that last time, right? Oh. Yeah. And he saw where they beat up that robot. I just can't believe they put a statue of a guy who beat up a guy with AIDS.
Starting point is 02:17:47 I know. It's kind of messed up. I know. But this is just coming home to Roost here. You've got several hundred thousand dollars in PPP loans. There's got to be still people walking around out there right now. They're like, I wonder if I'm going to get away with this. This woman built a million dollar home in Cedar Hill. Is that what stood out? As well as several other luxury purchases. She wore the fur coat?
Starting point is 02:18:13 Yeah. You're not supposed to wear the fur coat. You're supposed to be like a 158 million guy. You guys heard from him lately or her? Wait, what's that? The guy who won $158 million, he was about to share a lot of it with us. It was pretty cool. You know, he hasn't followed up yet, but I have to assume.
Starting point is 02:18:35 He had spent a good amount of that money. No, I was just excited to see what work we were going to do together. I assume he's going to fund some projects. I've got some scripts on the shelf if any investors are interested. All right, so Blake is now standing in front of a portal. Where does this portal, what's the video on the other side? I don't know. Why are we doing this?
Starting point is 02:19:00 There's a bunch of people standing there waving at the portal. like what go ask where it's two what was the other one put us on hold the phone up was the other one in England and some lady flashed yeah Chicago maybe Chicago in England or something
Starting point is 02:19:15 promote the podcast go tell them that Tuesdays and Fridays are Patreon what are you doing oh New York City what New York City Portal that's like not
Starting point is 02:19:28 the NFC East no it says portals existing countries around the world invite us to meet above borders and get the game. Just get on a bus. Hey, ask him if you can, ask him if this is like, it's dark over there.
Starting point is 02:19:47 Maybe not New York. All right, here, I'm going to play this. Oh. Come zone news. Wait, go yell, go Cowboys. That was a good news. I kind of get an empty street. How boring.
Starting point is 02:20:02 That's the worst portal I've ever seen. got like a cone. No one's even hyped for it. Ma'am? Yeah, flash it. Flash the portal, Blake. Happy birthday. Thank you.
Starting point is 02:20:14 I have one viewer mail birthday today. It'll be brought to us by Frankel and Frankel. Personal injury attorneys, 214 or 817, then dial all threes. If you're in an accident, Blake in Philadelphia, call the Frankles. If you're in an accident on the roadways, call the Frankles. if you have a personal injury and you're just not sure.
Starting point is 02:20:37 Call the Frankl. You'll talk to a partner. They're at Franklfirm.com as well. So Frankl and Frankel, longtime sponsor of the Dumbzone. 214, 817333333. One quick piece of sports news, Baylor fired their head football coach, Dan. Yeah. Dave Oranda.
Starting point is 02:20:59 There's some people you can tell about the podcast, Blake. Yeah, go promote the show. Street team. Here's Dave Arand a couple years ago. There's a scene in the Wolf of Wall Street when they're talking about throwing midgets. And it's like, you know, hey, this midget, can he, you know, can he roll there? And he goes, no, he doesn't roll. You throw him.
Starting point is 02:21:22 You know what I mean? And they're made for throwing. And then after a while, they start talking and they go, well, you know what? I think if you start talking, if you start, if you, they may think they know we're making fun of them. The midgets may think we're making fun of them so then I'm going to start you know they may get mad at us and then the guys go well what we need to do is make them think they're one of us and they go one of us one of us and I think that's the thing we're coaching call it and recruiting is it's that way. I don't feel like he explained that very clear. No I don't
Starting point is 02:21:59 even know what he meant but I do like hearing about throwing midgets That's fun. Yeah, of course. It's a great movie. All right, Blake has walked away from the portal. His demeanor in delivering... Do you want more portal? No, it looks shitty.
Starting point is 02:22:13 I kind of... I like the portal. Extremely. You need audio. Okay, knowing there's not audio is a disappointment. Maybe write down... This is Brazil. Dumpzone.com.
Starting point is 02:22:27 Oh, it's Brazil? Yeah, there's a little flag at the top. So there's a variety. of different portals around there? They're cycling through. Yeah, we just, we were different Britain. Hey, yell out. Why?
Starting point is 02:22:42 Hey, yell out. Hey, are we near the move bombing house? Yeah. There's no audio. Go walk up to it. No, but yell, yeah, I'm looking for the move, the house where the police blew up that black liberation off. Oh, that was like 20 years ago, right?
Starting point is 02:22:58 40. 40. Walk up to the portal and then try to step into it as if you just. It's just bang into it. Like you think that that's what it is. Turn your Borat up. Is that our future, guys? Do you think that will be the future where there will be a port of these?
Starting point is 02:23:13 No way? It's happening. Very popular. They told us we were going to have that 30 years ago. Fucking Stargate, remember that? 30 years from now they'll have it. I do remember Stargate to answer your question, yes. You thought it'd be here.
Starting point is 02:23:28 One of your mail birthday from Aaron, it is Dear Dick. It is a dear Dick Slinging Slitslayer. Want to wish a happy birthday to my Broham Gerardo. It is his Daryl Strawberry and or Roy Campanella birthday. His leaders are rehab Jake and Blake's manly mustache straight persona. His only request from y'all is a joke from Jake from any of his sets. Jokeman, Jake, please. Thank you, dumb zone, especially Blake, because of your athleticism.
Starting point is 02:24:04 And then we have movie trope. Umpires have a cigar in their mouth while upping children's games. Okay. I recently saw it on the movie Three Ninjas. A classic. He also thought... Also something I thought would be a bigger part of my life is paper grocery bags. That's still good.
Starting point is 02:24:29 kind of Yeah, I don't know what you're talking about. I don't use them. The Trader Joe's, which is where I do all my shopping, that's all they have. That's from Aaron Flores. I'm not,
Starting point is 02:24:38 I am not heart attack, man. I'm sorry. That's what you have for him? You can't just pull a joke out? You are free to at any time. He didn't want us to.
Starting point is 02:24:49 He wanted you to. That ain't happening, brother. It's his birthday. It's not happening. You can come see the show if you'd like. All right.
Starting point is 02:25:02 Friday? No, we have Sketch Friday. Well, when are you appearing again? Let's go to... Community Mechanical presents on this day in history. Blake, tell us about community mechanics.
Starting point is 02:25:24 Walk up to a guy and just go, forget about it. They put a train in in my house whenever my AC blew up a couple summers ago. It happened on a Friday and by the next Tuesday I had a new unit installed. Many such cases, many people who have called other companies and been told it's going to cost an arm and a leg only to have Travis. I still have my arms and legs. It'll be a finger at most.
Starting point is 02:25:52 At communitydfw.com, sign up for that preventative maintenance. Have them come out. Check out your unit and get the thing working properly and get in the system so that if you have major issues, they can fix it cheaper. They'll do that at communityddfw.com 469, 667-7-290. They get back to you quickly, is what Blake says. That's why Blake called him. He heard they were going to check out his unit. Some big boys coming over to manhandle his unit. Have you seen Burline today?
Starting point is 02:26:26 Not yet. He was mad last night that there was no hospitality suite at this hotel. Fair enough. Where the Snickers. This is the... That is a pretty sweet bit, man. I don't know if you ever did any of those trips, but when you find out that there's like a special room
Starting point is 02:26:42 that everybody's hanging out in, that's not a room that people are sleeping in, it's like, oh, wow. I only went on one trip, and I never got, I wasn't privy to that. It was a Cleveland Brown's trip. You're probably with your friends then, but yeah, you got Brad in there holding court
Starting point is 02:26:58 at like a hotel room that's rented out that's just full of snacks and beers. I think that was the day I started. I've never been in there. Should I go? I mean, I guarantee you that Burlind's there, obviously. I mean, he knows it's free shit.
Starting point is 02:27:13 Well, that's too. It's very Blake-coded. Blake and free shit is... Yeah. I know. I'm surprised that I haven't been. It's the child's birthday party of the trip. This is an offence to our hotel now.
Starting point is 02:27:27 And whenever we get on the bus in like an hour, this will all be full of Eagles fans, cursing at us. Well, they use slurs, do you think? well yeah they do it's nice that is great so some have already congregated
Starting point is 02:27:42 but yeah they'll set up these barricades and they'll just start yelling at players yeah tell the ones tell the ones that's awesome tell the ones that's congregated about the show and last year I was a player and they were like who the fuck is this guy
Starting point is 02:27:54 I'm gonna tackle him no problem yeah today is Monday October 26 on this day in 1861 the Pony Express officially ceased operation giving way to the Transcontinental Telegraph. Boo.
Starting point is 02:28:12 They took our jobs, right? Indeed. A.I. That's AI of the day. On this day in 1977, the last natural case of smallpox was discovered in Somalia. And this is considered the anniversary of the eradication of smallpox. Wow. Wow.
Starting point is 02:28:32 I get to say about it. Says here that is the most spectacular success of vaccination. Did Borat write that? We have a little spectacular success in vaccination. This day in 1984. Wow, that place is fancy. Are our kids going to think Borat's very nice? That's a great question.
Starting point is 02:29:04 Feels unlikely. What's your hotel, Blake? It's the Lowe's Philadelphia Hotel. Oh, okay. Go ahead. The Cowboys would like to get assaulted before they go to the game. Obviously, words already out. Jesus.
Starting point is 02:29:16 Are there like four of them next to each other? Yeah, that's a good question. Yeah, there's a Lowe's Philadelphia, then there's a Lowe's Pennsylvania or something. Right. That's right. Those live in Philly. That's a nice-ass hotel.
Starting point is 02:29:30 Very nice. Yeah, Brits is a big fan of Borat already. Nice. My wife That scans though Given some of the slurs he uses when he's gaming Dan you said If a hotel has yogurt
Starting point is 02:29:47 It's fancy If they put fruit in their water Oh my gosh That's the big one Yeah Oh You want an apple The fruit water might be
Starting point is 02:29:56 Indicating I shouldn't be here Yep The Canton hotel had it I didn't know there was a single hotel in Canton That would put How many cups of this Have you think I've had already I'm surprised
Starting point is 02:30:07 surprised you haven't just filled up your big jug. Yeah, that'd be nice. You don't think I have? Okay. What if you started putting the cucumber in the big jug every time you filled it up? Wouldn't that be nice? I think it's more for show than that.
Starting point is 02:30:23 It doesn't really taste. I don't think it enhances the water at all. It does. You can taste a little hint, a little smack of cucumber. It's very nice. I like it. That's because you have the visual planted in your mind, and that's It's tricking you.
Starting point is 02:30:38 If Blake can know which one's arrowhead and which one's not arrowhead, then I can definitely taste cucumber. Lined it up. There's some hotel carpet. I always love that. What's that a euphemism for? I'm sure she has a name. Flooring direct.
Starting point is 02:30:56 DfW.com slash DZ. Let's see. Baby Fay on this day in 1984. It was a newborn with a severe heart defect. So. Baboon They were like, look, parents This kid will die
Starting point is 02:31:13 Like now Or we take a monkey heart And put it in Let's just see what happens Let's just take a shot And 40 years later now She is actually ruling A troop of chimps in the junk
Starting point is 02:31:27 Yeah No, the baby lived for 21 days And the only The odd thing was it would just it would kind of climb up the it developed opposable thumbs on its foot he's going back for seconds
Starting point is 02:31:45 folks is what happened go Blake go you want some more water Blake pounding the fruit water which is a euphemism 2002 on this date Jessica Simpson marries Nick Lechay that's real love Chicken of the sea
Starting point is 02:32:01 poor Jessica you read the book right Or did you just tell me to read the book? Yeah, I just told you to read the book. I listened to a podcast about the book. My wife read it. It seemed like a great book. She comes off great, is my impression. In the book that she wrote?
Starting point is 02:32:20 Yeah, but don't you feel like if Elizabeth Holmes wrote a book, which she is, by the way, I don't feel like she's going to come off as well as Jessica Simpson. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I read the whole book just for the Tony Romo chapter. And it's so good. I needed the exposition, though. I needed it all. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:32:40 You know. And on this day, in 2019, Oh. Free coffee. They had a gender reveal party. Oh, no. Is this the fire? To celebrate an upcoming birth for an Iowa family.
Starting point is 02:32:55 It exploded like a pipe bomb. It was supposed to discharge just colorful powder. A 56-year-old relative killed. Oh, wow. When hit by the debris. Got to name the kid after him. Yeah. Which means don't go to gender reveal parties.
Starting point is 02:33:11 Oh, we have this day in Dumb Zone history, but we don't know, right, Blake? We're not prepped for that. Well. I bet a lot of good stuff happened, though. Surely. Like next year, this will be on it. Maybe. Maybe.
Starting point is 02:33:28 Walking to his hotel room, are we going to see your hotel room? No. That's not what's going to be on it. And it won't. By the time this one year from today, you'll say, I can't believe it started that night. God, I love him. This is how I was listening to Sean Lee and Zach Martin, like I told you guys.
Starting point is 02:33:53 They were referencing the Amari Cooper trade. Yeah. They're like, you remember, we got beat, and then we ended up making a little run there after Amari. They were talking about Porter Jr. And they were like, eh? How much of a run? So I... Everything is relative.
Starting point is 02:34:13 The longest one we've been on. I don't want to wear an earring ever. Well, I got bad news for you. For a day. I picked the Cowboys tonight so that I wouldn't... I don't want to root against the Cowboys when we're doing one of these streams. Like even on the inside. But Jake then ruined it because now he picked a triple play.
Starting point is 02:34:33 So it would be beneficial for Team Dan. You guys have enough points already. being greedy. Jake doesn't need three more, dude. The week's going all. You want a better week? You demand a better week than what you're already getting. Unreasonable.
Starting point is 02:34:47 You don't have to worry about him. They're not a threat. I don't need Soroy getting hot. All he has to do is bet against you, it seems. Which he did. That was fun. I got to go. Bye, Blake.
Starting point is 02:35:03 Blake is leaving now because he's going to walk into his room, and that's going to show the seedy debauchery, like just what is going on in that room. Right. I played a lot of Halo Wars with my five-year-old. So not a whole lot in there. Tell GP I said what up. And Shottie's voice.
Starting point is 02:35:22 Yeah, if he's bad, I will. All right. I don't know if you're allowed to say that or not. We'll see you. Bye, guys. There goes Blake Jones, everybody, live in Philadelphia. What a guy. With a feel on, just a report on how the atmosphere is, how the team's feeling.
Starting point is 02:35:41 You wouldn't do it, but you should fire him if you lose. You wouldn't do it. Because the point is that you still have a season to save. I know that makes everybody angry. We side petting between the pipes? Yeah, because then Clayton Adams can call the plays. I also realize that's- That step will happen before, right?
Starting point is 02:36:08 Jerry will tell Shottie, look, there's too much on your plate. Let's have this guy call the plays. I need you overseeing everything. very possible. Just hope that's not in the off-season. But they're going to get it done tonight. Yeah, you went from Here's where the Super Bowl run starts
Starting point is 02:36:27 to why don't we fire the coach. Yeah, did. What's going on in there in your head? The morning news has a sick illustration by the great Michael. Is his name Michael Hogue? The guy would draw all of our cool shit from the ticket. And it's like a big loser leaves town type. On Siriani and Shadi?
Starting point is 02:36:48 Yeah. Like whoever loses this game is looking at the rest of the year. That's ridiculous. Man, you got a... It's ridiculous on the Siriani side, right? Boy, I don't know. But not to them. He's had some pretty disappointing results by their standards.
Starting point is 02:37:03 They will fire him if they don't make the playoffs. It's a clown show right now. I know. How much release do you get after a Super Bowl win, though? I mean, for them, not much. About the Doug Peterson length. Yeah. Fortunately, they're practiced at this.
Starting point is 02:37:23 Yeah, clearly they view the GM as the guy who's getting them Super Bowl. Yep. Yeah. As does the Cowboys GM. That's right. Other birthdays today, Mike Hargrove is 77. Besides a Ranger great, the godfather of Emily Jones. Okay, I knew there was some.
Starting point is 02:37:45 Toby Harris, 78. Toby Hurrell. Who's got a better war? Toby Hara or Mike Hargrove. Two famous Cleveland Indians slash Texas Rangers. You're correct. Easily. Toby Harrah, 51.4 to 30.3. Wow, look at Toby Harrah.
Starting point is 02:38:07 Is Toby Harrah a second baseman? Shortstop. Okay. Well, he was a shortstop with the Rangers, then he was the third baseman for the Indians. Okay. But he was in the Guinness Book of World Record for playing an entire doubleheader without, one fielding chance at shortstop. So apparently that's pretty rare
Starting point is 02:38:28 or else it's not McGinnis, right? Monta Ellis is 41. Ask the fellas. Ask the damn fellas. That was such a fun time. Do you remember the reaction to his trade was the same as the reaction to the Luca trade? No, no, Joe Lacob, it wasn't.
Starting point is 02:38:45 That's what they had said, though, the next day. Not Joe Lacob, the guy they brought over here. Rick Welts. Rick Wells. Joe Lacob got roasted. I mean, whatever. Yeah. I don't want to agree with him, but I understand the point he was making.
Starting point is 02:39:01 We had some fun times with Monta Ellis, man. I remember being it like off the record. Late night at the bar. He was fun to watch, man. You know you're not going to win. You know you're not going to win. Yeah. Very enjoyable.
Starting point is 02:39:14 Yeah. Tony Casillas is 63. Cowboy great. Jesse Armstead is 56. Tony Casillas, Cowboy Great. You see him in the break room a lot. Tony Casillas? Yeah, because he would do ESPN.
Starting point is 02:39:34 I guess I didn't know what he looked like. Jacked, huge. And you would wear those shirts like Grego would wear that look like their wallpaper. Love that. But like $900. Like the cuffs are rolled up. They're a different pattern.
Starting point is 02:39:49 Yes. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. But it would be like in the break on a Sunday at the station. you know and I'd be fucking hungover probably high sweatpants and putting shrimp in a sandwich bag 100%
Starting point is 02:40:01 and then Tony can see him come in like $1,000 boots yeah Sasha Cohen is 42 that's not Borat that's uh someone else he's uh play by play guy for the Ravens
Starting point is 02:40:14 no I think you're thinking of Jerry Sandusky oh Jacqueline Smith is 81 That was the hottest angel of the Charlie's Angels. What? You're looking at Jacqueline Smith? I mean, she's 80s, 70s thin, but she's a very pretty lady. Pat Sejack, 80.
Starting point is 02:40:40 Isn't he an asshole? Seems to be so. How would you not? Be tough. Hillary Clinton, 79. I don't feel no ways, tired. Do we have that? I wonder if we have that.
Starting point is 02:40:58 Shout out to our queen. I don't feel no wage. Actor Perry Ellis is 64. Didn't she use the term CP time on the campaign trail? Yeah, I'm pretty sure. I think it was it on breakfast club? No, that was hot sauce. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:41:17 Oh, I keep a hot sauce. How come the 2016 campaign could have always? Hopefully, you can all make, hopefully you can all Pokemon go your way to of the polls. There's that one. Banger, absolutely. Yeah. That was fun.
Starting point is 02:41:33 It was fun times. With lore, you can trust. Oh, you shut up. Where has James Tala Rico band? Natalie Merchant is 63. That's a white lady. Cleveland's great freedom hymn. I don't feel no way's tired.
Starting point is 02:41:51 I come too far. Jeff Kavanaugh could never even. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. That is a switch of that. Natalie Merchant, absolute legend. Couldn't be a bigger fan. Great work.
Starting point is 02:42:04 Happy birthday to her. Big at Starbucks. Oh, my God. It's a whole genre. Eileen Warnos, absolutely obsessed with Natalie Merchant. Do you know who Eileen Warnos is, Dan? No. Female serial killer, the subject of the movie Monster.
Starting point is 02:42:22 Scarjo. Charlees their own. Oh. What's Natalie Merchant's song? Ladies and a heart killer, huh? Aie. No, that's a zombie. Carnival.
Starting point is 02:42:32 I walk these streets like a carnival. Have I been wrong, row? Have I been wrong. Eileen had that song. By mystify. The other people in the Florida's death row were like, Eileen, enough! What my eyes have seen.
Starting point is 02:42:54 Yeah, that's Natalie Merchant. Yeah. That's lesbian music. Yes. Eileen Warnos, famous lesbian. Keith Urban, 59. Happy birthday to him. Rapper.
Starting point is 02:43:10 Schoolboy Q, 40. That part. I am a fan. I am a fan. He got sober. The end of the year is a great music video. Easily the most messed up I've ever seen a performer the one time I saw him and he wasn't sober.
Starting point is 02:43:26 It was bad. Hmm. Seth McFarland is 53. And we have a dumb zone, excuse me, dumb zone birthday of the day, but first our Henry birthday of the day. Did you have a schoolboy cue comment? Yeah,
Starting point is 02:43:40 it was a big part of Clayton and I's drive back from Houston. Oh, nice. That makes me happy. No, it wasn't? Yeah, it was. Oh, wow. You threw on a couple. Schoolboy Q at all.
Starting point is 02:43:48 Yes, you did. Collard greens. No, I, I thought you about clips. Okay, but school, you played. I told you. Two, two. I remember two songs. How about your
Starting point is 02:44:01 Henry birthday of the day? Yeah, Marquette King is 38. Oh, the punter? Yeah. I remember him. That was fun for a little while. We had a black punter, Dan. He was...
Starting point is 02:44:14 Is that the Raiders? Yeah. Yeah. And the renegades, right? Okay. I think he was punting for the renegades, too. I don't know. I was just talking about the team people have heard of.
Starting point is 02:44:25 You're not a renegades guy? What's Renegades? The Dallas UFL team, right? Yeah. Coached by Bob Stoops. I think I know the Raiders more. I think I know more Raiders than Renegades, but go ahead. Sorry to Jay Cranfield.
Starting point is 02:44:40 I know. Sorry about Dan. I know. Herm Edwards. Got anything else, Henry? Dumb's own birthday of the day. That was a good one. John Heater is 49.
Starting point is 02:44:56 Happy birthday. Where has John Heater? heater gone. Probably to happiness. You don't need to do anything else. That's not so weird to me when people say stuff like that. He's like, oh, Scott, where do you go? fell off? He probably just is like happy. He's like... Yeah, but he tried making more
Starting point is 02:45:11 movies and then they didn't do well and then all the time. Blades of glory is great. So he's super happy? The fact that... Got money and you don't have to work. I hope you're happy. Yeah, he better be happy. If you're not poor and you get to make stuff. If he doesn't get to be happy, what the hell do I get? I'm not,
Starting point is 02:45:27 I've never been Napoleon dynamite. Mormon. Blades of Glory was better than Napoleon Dynamite. It's not. That's crazy, but Blades of Glory is very good, Dan. And he's like super religious. He's Mormon. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:45:41 They're chilling. And a twin. Soaking. Does mean he's my enemy right now. Soaking. They'll get theirs. They already did, but it didn't make me happy. Born on this day now dead, Ted Demi.
Starting point is 02:45:58 He created Yo MTV Rats. All right. Is Ted Demi a black name? And Dead on the Stay Still Dead. Oh my gosh. I'm not laughing about this one. This is 2024 Jim Donovan. He was the radio voice of the Browns for many years. Next to Doug Deacon in the booth. Doug Deacon. A legendary 1980s offensive linemen for the Cleveland Browns. and I would see him when I worked in Cleveland I would cover Belichick press conferences
Starting point is 02:46:39 you know with the tape recorder and stuff and Doug Deacon would always be standing off to the side with an unlit cigar in his mouth and a big giant wada chew at the same time he'd have a huge wad of chew be spitting in a cup but he also had an unlit cigar in his mouth
Starting point is 02:47:00 just wanted to be thinking about tobacco He's Doug Deacon. Man, that's confusing. He can do whatever he wants. It's an extra buzz, man. The Sabin, Doc, they make a big hay out of him leaving for the Browns after being a Toledo one year. Was that talked about a lot at the time? No.
Starting point is 02:47:19 Okay. Well, that age, I probably wasn't that in tune with all the assistant coaches. But no. Why would you get excited about the Toledo coach coming to? join your Not that they're excited, but the Toledo people were up in arms, and it's a bit of a sister city. It's not far.
Starting point is 02:47:38 It's also in Ohio, right? Oh, it's pretty far from Cleveland. Couple hours? A couple hours, yes. As I live in Texas now, I realize it's extremely close. How many naps? But at the time, it was forever away. Yeah, how many naps?
Starting point is 02:47:52 Like, I thought Pittsburgh was very, very far away. It turns out Pittsburgh's closer than Austin is to us, right? Yeah, it's a more densely populated part of the country. So I've come to learn. No, but died on this day in 2014. Oscar Tavares. Gone too soon. Call up Coop to do his memorial again.
Starting point is 02:48:20 Now. His beautiful memorial. Even with multiple PED suspensions, one would have to say Jurexon Profar was the winner of that prospect race. At a time when the Rangers were considered moving him, For Tavares. You want to do Tavares versus Jurekson War? Yeah, I guess Jurekson's got more.
Starting point is 02:48:48 A lot more. Is that a Tuesday treat idea to play the... Yeah. It's the legend... This is the fight. This is the Newburgh versus Coop. Yeah. The fight.
Starting point is 02:49:01 Kube's son was really upset that Oscar... Newburgh's son. Newburgh's son was actually upset that Oscar Tavaris had died. You know who Oscar DeVaris is, Henry? Oh, yeah. Okay. He's a big-time prospect, huge. And he just said my son's sad about this.
Starting point is 02:49:15 He's a big pro-ball player fan. That is all he said. He's like, this sucks. I thought he said it's kind of like when I was a kid. He went on. And Lyman Bostock. And said, I, you know, I had a similar experience when I was a kid. Hey, how about you and your son shut the fuck up?
Starting point is 02:49:30 Coup was like, that's a bad take. Lyman Bostock is not in the rarefied, uh, he has it. It was a lot of space. had already been in the bigs had a certain amount of war. Oscar Ferris could never. Oscar Tavares was just a dream. Never mind the fact that like
Starting point is 02:49:45 the league works different now and if Tavaris would have played in the 70s or 80s he would have been on the big league roster earlier. That doesn't matter. Your kid, tell him his excitement slash upset here is unwarranted and gay.
Starting point is 02:50:01 Kids a pussy. Tavares never did anything next. Next. It's a... Newberg's like, I don't know, he's only like 10. I'm just saying these are his feelings, and I'm just saying what they were. Those feelings are wrong.
Starting point is 02:50:21 So you should tell him. Be a better dad. I can't see a sports problem and then not address it. There needs to be a space for people like me and Nathan Fielder and Coop where we can just discuss the facts outside of your emotional considerations, because there is an answer to which one's a better player. And I'd like to be able to at least have the discussion. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:50:43 Without it just turned it into this pissing match. And it probably ended with Newberg having to be like, yeah, I guess Tavares sucked. You're right. Lifetime of adding average is 3-11, Lyman Bostock. Tearful talk with this kid. Bro. About how you're dumb for crying.
Starting point is 02:51:01 As great as that all was, the biggest thing out of that for me was learning about, Lyman Bostock's death. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which is bonkers. Mm-hmm. He was killed in like a drive-by by, by like a...
Starting point is 02:51:14 His uncle's friend or something? In Gary, Indiana. He was... He played against the White Soxed, and then he was from Gary, so he immediately absconded to Gary. It was some weird, like, I don't know,
Starting point is 02:51:26 hood shooting type thing. The shooter was sentenced to his psychiatric hospital and released after seven months. Now, that's even... Okay. But yeah And Elizabeth Barr is riding away That's right
Starting point is 02:51:42 Unseating Ethan Couch On Dan's Injustice Mount Rushmore And that's what happened On this day in history In the sequel you get to see my butthole We still doing tonight Oh I can't
