Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, I'm DFW Zone Danny Bayless, letting you know that you are about to hear a free podcast of the DumbZone. But if you'd like to subscribe at Dumbzone.com, you will get four shows per week plus the weekend wrap-up and any bonus epis like our Business Wednesday interviews. Oh, you'll also get our DZTV archives. Again, that's Dumbzone.com to subscribe. Now, on to today's program. Jake, I was out at the local pub last night, knocking back a couple, as I will do. And we're having a debate at the bar. The boys were like, what is the most important part of a house? A real raging debate, because you can go with doors, you know, if they're locked.
Starting point is 00:00:49 I went with a roof because can you just imagine it right now. Take a roof off your house and then just imagine your life. play out the next six months. It would be horrible. And we have a solution for you. If indeed you need a roof, Qualis roofing, the goat. Qualis roofing, that's right. They are, oddly, the foundation of our entire operation here,
Starting point is 00:01:14 despite doing roofs, they'll come out. They'll inspect your roof for free. And if you need work, they'll deal with the insurance company. So you might have some money sitting up there is what we're saying. QualisGC.com, have them come out, take care of everything. It's the good Ruffy. What, Roofie? Is that a word?
Starting point is 00:01:33 Roofie. BallasGC.com. Who's Dylan Roof? Is that a sports person? Or is it like a... I think that was a match shooter. A shooter. Okay.
Starting point is 00:02:18 Let's say he played hockey. Charleston Church. He'd be known as Ruffy, right? If he played hockey? A roofer. Hey, listen, from what I've heard, You might have to be careful tossing that word around in that community. Really?
Starting point is 00:02:37 Well, I don't know, probably athletes in general. Oh, anyway. Why, they don't need to. This is the dumb zone. I'm Dan McDowell. I'm Jay Kemp. I'm Blake Jones. Foodie K is here as well.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Otherwise, how would you hear us and see us? Here is not the Game Day Men's Health Studio, Although we do love us some Game Day men's health, gameday. Dot Dumbzone.com. Peptides are all the rate. You know, peptides, that's the thing. We are broadcasting. I would not be here right now without Game Day.
Starting point is 00:03:16 That I can promise you. Had my wife pitched me a grueling family trip, I would have said. I'm not up for it. I'm not the man I used to be. But I'm enjoying Kauai. You don't have to be emasculated in front of your wife anymore like you were. In the past. That's not permanent, apparently.
Starting point is 00:03:33 Yeah, now you're like, yeah. Hell yeah. Anyway, no, we're high atop my garage, broadcasting live to tape. The old, the old miss, the old man, the place where it all started. The Dragon Den of Inequality. So we're not downtown Dallas today. We do have intern Henry showed up. So that's cool in a way.
Starting point is 00:03:56 And then he did the old thing of, you know how, It's like, I don't like how to, you learn things. I was thinking of Henry this morning because I see my, remember the studio mic? I lent him my Yeti studio mic. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then he opened the box as if he was an ape. Right. And then when he returned the Yeti mic, he just handed me back a ripped apart box.
Starting point is 00:04:21 He didn't even make the, should I even attempt to fix it? Like Trey, who once broke a family heirloom and then just glued it. Henry's like, no, you know what? I heard Trey make that mistake. I won't do that. I won't even try to fix it. And you think maybe did he learn from that? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:04:41 I haven't lent him anything. But we're going to teach him today something. We opened the door for him, right? You said, hey, open the garage door for Henry. Yep. So what was your play there, Henry on not closing it? What was that? You don't have to answer.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Go down and close the garage door. Just walk downstairs and close the garage door, please. Why would you not go away? Oh, I click the button and nothing happened. Well, that's a lot worse, actually. Hit the big button. That's intimidating, like, trying to do the job and not seeing it. Yeah, but I don't know how to, if you don't know how to open or close a garage door, maybe you're not right for this show.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Did he hit the light button? No, he found it. Well, the point is it's a garage door. Did he think, wow, their garage door? door must never close. Oh, actually it does because he had to open it for me. So anyway. It was probably just that it was so quiet, thanks to Trident.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Clayton. That is the problem. Clayton and Henry's relationship was so hostile the first time around that I just kind of swore to myself that I was going to be nice to Henry this time around. He just makes it so hard. Yeah. What are you going to do? What are you going to do?
Starting point is 00:05:51 I don't want to focus on that because you guys can tell I'm in a great mood. Can you? Do I have a glow about me? Are you like, hey. You actually are glows. Did this guy get some morning, you know, a wake-up type thing? Yeah, I want to start out with fun there. No, I took one of the greatest drives you can ever take.
Starting point is 00:06:13 That's right. I dropped off my wife at the airport this morning. Whoa! You're not going to play the sounder, but we'll do it. Which initiates the countdown, of course, to picking up the wife from the airport. So I was thinking, though, of a good bit. One, send an Uber.
Starting point is 00:06:35 So when she arrives back next week, what if an Uber is waiting for her? Two, I have the best bit we've ever done that we're not going to do. It's send a listener disguised as an Uber, and he's rolling. Whoa. And can kind of egg her on as to, wait, he got you an Uber? You're kidding. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:00 Yeah. Yeah, but we can't because people already broke the trust tree rule. No. That's a previous iteration. It's like the greatest NBA player. Can you look at that too? No, no, no. I'm saying our listeners now are different.
Starting point is 00:07:16 They're in on the bit. Yeah, no, I'm just saying. But the greatest NBA player never to win a title, you know, like this will go down in history is our greatest bid idea that just never hit the air because we just couldn't do it. The Abby and Brittany calendar that we never put out with Mino and Julie as the twins needs at least to be in this conversation. Now, you bring up an interesting point, though, about the clock on your wife coming home. First of all, plane, that's massive. That's at least one full day. Nobody's doing that for less.
Starting point is 00:07:49 Right. Like if an emergency or like, I got to get home, well, that's going to take a while now. We know you're just not across town. Yeah. It's like getting divorced. You need a lawyer for that. So you're stuck here. but I kind of find it hard almost to be on vacation.
Starting point is 00:08:04 Maybe this is a good thing because it means that like our lives together is pretty great. But the thing that's hard about vacation is it is on a clock. And it's hard sometimes to be like, are we doing enough? I'm enjoying this. Yeah. Maximizing. You're not going to be back there next week. You know, we better snorkel and go fishing.
Starting point is 00:08:25 How often is she getting on a plane alone? It's a lot of pressure. But maybe just say... And I just want to say, though, I've evaluated myself. I've looked at some game film. You know, who did that? Somebody just looked at game film and said, look at the film. I see nothing but good things.
Starting point is 00:08:47 Like it was Trayvon or somebody. I've never been more... The best husband I can ever be is the last couple of days. You need me to... Oh, no, I'll go up to the attic to get yourself. suitcase. I got that for you. What do you need? Laundry? I just want to make sure you don't, there's nothing. And then last night, she's like, she's looking at the thing and the flight leaves at, let's say 10. And so she's like, well, let me, should I get there at 9, 8.30 I should get there. And then she goes,
Starting point is 00:09:18 but rush hour traffic, I don't know. What do you think? Should I try to get there at 7 or at 8? She asked me, what do I think? And now you're like, hold and steady. You're like, Remember your training? You're like, I don't know. I mean, I heard about construction. I want what you. Yeah. It's 4 a.m. an option?
Starting point is 00:09:37 Well, I mean, World Cup, you know, there's a lot of people. But somehow, I did have these guys, is it called a pit crew or whatever? They were out there. Everything was set. Like, it was 10 till the time she said. And the air conditioning's going in the car. It's running. Let's just make sure.
Starting point is 00:09:55 You know, we went yesterday. So after she told me she was leaving. Oil change, tires, right? Like, let's just make sure. Hey, just check everything, just in case. Just, all right, everything's cool. So, yeah, I left, I think we left at eight, but I had a backup Uber.
Starting point is 00:10:10 I called just in case my car didn't start for some reason. Yeah. Yeah. Really had to nail it. Yeah, that's great. Anyway, it's all good time. It's interesting. You could spin that as, like, caring for her, right?
Starting point is 00:10:23 Like, oh, you know, that way they're there. Well, no, actually, you can't. No, it would never work. I was going to try to figure out a way that it's like nice for her. You could get a listener to stand there with her name on a sign. That'd be interesting. I've always wanted that. I got one more quick thing before sports, but it's kind of sports.
Starting point is 00:10:45 And so it's going to kind of be brought to us by Plum Quick. Hey, a quick thing brought to us. Let's do that. Do it up. Whenever we have a quick thing, we'll make it our new plumber. Is Plum Quick? Get it? I do get it.
Starting point is 00:10:58 I do get it. Plum Quick, you heard from our buddy Robert just the other day here on the show. It's our new plumber. He gave me a cool one sheet. Go ahead. Start talking about plumbers. Okay. I was going to say the website so we can start getting the familiarity here is plumbquick company.com. Plumquickcompan.com. 4669-331-669. I've been in business since 1987. And they offer something unique, which is an annual whole home plumbing inspection. And I'm going to have to get used to saying that word. But yeah, so they come out, they do the inspection, take care of everything before it becomes a problem, Dan. So what is included with your $1.99 a year, which I just signed up for?
Starting point is 00:11:43 An annual standard tank water. Well, you could just do it. No, I'm sorry. Yeah. The water heater flush annually. They waive their $89 service fee. they give you priority scheduling. So if you are a member and you're like,
Starting point is 00:12:01 hey, I got a problem. And then someone else calls and they say, yeah, I got a problem. They're like, oh, you're a member, though. I'll go to your house first. And 10% off repairs up to $500. And then the annual, like, it's just preventive maintenance.
Starting point is 00:12:16 They'll go around your whole house, just kind of check everything out, give you a free, what is it? What do they call those things where the water, like a drain, whatever. Call or check them out online, right? What's their number?
Starting point is 00:12:30 972-787. 0635. Do you think we've ever done a show together before? Well, the issue clearly is the delay. No, it's me. There's a lot of me, too. It's not always like that. A lot of me, too, because I'm just all.
Starting point is 00:12:47 I'm just all excited, you know? I'm just feeling good. He's ready for the show to be over. I'm going nuts. So, no, no, no. I don't want the show. to be over. This is the best part of the day. I wanted to tell Blake, or ask Blake, do you know, because I had a listener talking to me the day, he said, hey, do you know the history of 42? Are you going to Kim Spin my Domino game?
Starting point is 00:13:12 Yep. No. So Blake, we were doing some filming yesterday with a good friend kicker of ours, and we had to get some fake uniforms, and Blake was wearing the number 42. I'm like, why did you choose that? and he was telling people it was because of Jackie Robinson. But I know in your racist heart that it's not that. It is your domino game that you play with listeners every month, right? Yes. And maybe you play it with your grandpa. We were there last night.
Starting point is 00:13:43 It was quite the party. Yeah? Well, this is the grandpa thing starting to make a lot more sense. So in 1887, like this originated in Texas, 42. Sometimes it's called Texas. Texas 42. That's an insurmountable lead.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Texas 1887. Let's hear him out. Playing cards were banned. Yeah. Because of religion. Texas viewed playing cards as sinful. You know, the old... Those damn Southern Baptist.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Can't dance. Can't play cards. They can't do anything. Can't even nail your buddy from behind. No. No. They don't let you do any of that stuff. No.
Starting point is 00:14:28 Any of the stuff we just like to do as boys. So two young boys, 12-year-old William Thomas and 14-year-old Walter Earl, they were caught playing cards. And what they had to do, it's kind of like Jake having to read the thing to his mom or whatever when he got caught. They had to burn their playing cards. Okay. So, you know, and that's, you're crying. Burn the next one. You know, and there you got.
Starting point is 00:14:56 You have a part. Well, I saw somebody the other day, and I don't think it was Brandon Marshall or some other unstable NFL wide receiver who was filming their kid, like making him run to the point of throwing up at like 3 a.m. driving the SUV next to him. Okay. You know, it's not smoked the whole pack of cigarettes, but it honestly made me feel good. I was like, this is psychopath behavior shouldn't be happening, but I'm enjoying seeing it. So they wanted to create a new game, but they only kind of knew the one game they would play. And maybe it was like Spades or something. Very similar to Spades.
Starting point is 00:15:33 So they knew how to play that. And then they had some, they had Domino's. And they're like, wait, what if we just... So all they did is recreate the game that they loved and that they were banned from playing with a different... It's like we are not on the radio anymore, but it's kind of the same show. different platform. They just used a different platform. It's called Domino's. Their game is quickly accepted by local churches and families, and it becomes... You should respect this. It's the exact same game, though. Yes? Well, no, I respected as much as my Mormon friends who came up with the word
Starting point is 00:16:08 fatch instead of the FAC word when they would get fouled. We'd play basketball with them. They'd be like, fatch. And I'd be like, do you think God doesn't know that you actually... In your head, you have to think of the F-U-C-K and then you have to translate it and then you say Fetch, you're talking God here, bro. You told me God knows everything and stuff. So God already knows what you're doing. He knows that's a profanity. God knows that playing Domino's is the devil.
Starting point is 00:16:36 That's the devil's game. Yeah, but you had a non-compete with cards and you found that it's not the same. It's different. I got to be honest, dude. It is an interesting story, but I am like, stunned that there's not more racism here. I was fully expecting that. I thought somehow I was going to be like, well, yeah, you know, after they
Starting point is 00:16:54 burned down the slave barracks while they were playing their favorite slaves. Yeah, right. The slaves inventing it. The white men took the... No, no, no, no, no racism at all, it's all. Okay. I'll take that. I'll take a church workaround. In fact, I think I knew that. This is just the forward pass. Sure.
Starting point is 00:17:12 Anyway. I'll take it. It's a big day for me. because the new installment of the college football video game came out today. Now, it came out to the masses today. If you were a premium subscriber, you got it a week ago, which I did. I learned about all this this morning, Dan. The tears, all of it, like plum quix.
Starting point is 00:17:38 And so, Jake, chime in here, but I cannot explain to you how big of a deal this day used to be to me. Because as of right now, I would have been 11 hours and 47 minutes into playing it because I was at GameStop at midnight picking my copy up every single year, NCAA and Madden. Midnight. Midnight. And so you get the game at midnight. You get to GameStop at 1030 because maybe they got a copy going. Maybe you can play your buddies there in the store. Maybe they've got some cookies or food.
Starting point is 00:18:13 They have pizza. It's a freaking party. for the release of these video games. And when you're 15, 16, 17, like, this is just the crim delacrim. So, obviously, it's like waned over time. You know, they don't do the midnight releases anymore. And there's been something kind of ruining
Starting point is 00:18:34 video games over the past decade. And it's called micro-transactions. So basically, I think how this started, and I'll get corrected. But how this started for me anyway is Madden and NCAA was dead at the time. So really just Madden, FIFA, your other sports games. They came out with this thing called Ultimate Team. So if you're tired of playing with the stock teams like the Cowboys,
Starting point is 00:19:02 your what is soccer teams, basketball teams, you're tired of playing with the same team every time. You could make your own. And so you would open these packs and like, oh, here's Jalen Smith, here's Michael Gallup, here's some other spares. Can I call it time out? Sure. Isn't this just franchise mode?
Starting point is 00:19:20 No, because in franchise mode, you start with a team, then you've got to go through free agency draft. You know, you kind of have a starting point. With Ultimate Team, like, you can get a player from every single different team. And when you start, you have spares. But the more you play, the more you win, you get better players. And then you get better players to the point where, like, you have an awesome team. And you can play with.
Starting point is 00:19:42 with people from the past. You can have Bo Jackson at running back. You can have Dionne Sanders at Corner. But along the way, rather than just earning it, they would say, okay, if you pay us $10,000 will give you a premium pack and you can get a gold DAC Prescott or whatever. And so basically, the more you paid,
Starting point is 00:20:00 the better your players or your team could be. It was a cheat. It was a shortcut. Pay to win. Yeah. And so, like, if your little rich kid had the best team, all 99s, but you're sitting here grinding for your 80. Well, this is evolved into a petition currently going on, like thousands of signatures because of micro transactions. Because now these micro transactions in the latest college football game have made their way into single player modes.
Starting point is 00:20:33 So if you're a geek like me and you just love to grind offline, I don't play anybody, I play the computer. and I start with the latest one I did was with Middle Tennessee State. A garbage team, you recruit, you get better, you portal, you build them up, that's the fun to me. And that requires no money spent or whatever. That's just a game mode in the game. Now, if you want your coach to progress at a normal level, you have to pay for it. They have taken away your fast and your faster progressions to where really your coach is going to suck unless you pay. to unlock these tears for him.
Starting point is 00:21:13 And people are pissed. Well, see, that was going to be my question is, obviously it sucks online. It sucks in regular to have it be an option in regular offline mode, single player. But if it's just an option that you can just be like, that sucks, it exists, but I don't have to engage in it, that's one thing. Which is where I'm at. If they take 60% of the game and paywall it beyond the initial $150,000, you pay for the game. You know, what we have here is, again,
Starting point is 00:21:45 turbo capitalism taking something that already made a lot of money, if handled correctly. I understand GameStop has its issues, but video gaming makes money. It's a huge industry. Well, they've cut out, the middleman now because everything is digital.
Starting point is 00:21:59 Like, hardly anyone is going to get the disc anymore. It is a straight, and that's the thing is, like, a part of the price of the game was the distribution of it. The price of the game has only gone up, and now you've eliminated did that middleman. So they're making more money theoretically now more than ever.
Starting point is 00:22:15 But I don't know the financials on that, but I know they're not hurting. And I know that, you know, even when you see them like Xbox just laid off a couple hundred people. Yeah. But this is just the game, right? They're just how much money are we making? It's not enough. It's not that they're losing money. But it feels like this started with, uh, with apps and, uh, like phone games. Yeah. And it, it, because that's like become normalized, right?
Starting point is 00:22:43 I mean, your kid is just walking up to you every, like I think TC and probably a lot of parents, they just get their kids, like gift cards to the game store. Because that's all the kid wants. Yeah, so like you say absent, like that's a words with friends thing. You,
Starting point is 00:22:58 you can play somebody, but if you pay for like hints or whatever, you could, I don't know if there's extra time or something with some of the games, but that's a similar thing. So now if you try to play against somebody, you're like, are they playing on the same level that I'm playing? Are they paying some money to get a little extra bonus? And now we can be on the same level.
Starting point is 00:23:22 Like if it somehow indicated you were a green star person and that meant I just, yeah, right? Would you, would that make it better for you? Like you could be in, like, if you want to be in the pay league, then that indicates. Like all those people can't shouldn't be able to play against people like you. Right. But the problem, Dan, is that he's saying it extends to just playing by himself. That's in him and his kid want to have a team and they want to get to Alabama. Before, if you played enough games and actually did it right, that's, you know, we've talked about this before.
Starting point is 00:23:58 But I was the kid who hated Blitz. Like all I wanted was the most real life, realistic. For sure. Hell, NFL GM at one point. I was like, I'll just do this. Yeah. So that's the fun of the game to me. But if you have to pay just to do that,
Starting point is 00:24:16 then you've got to make the game cheaper. You've got to be like, hey, there's a $75 option where you can't get to a Power 5 something. That's insane. Yeah, and I will say that it's hit Brooks in a way of like when he plays Halo, he likes to customize his character. In order to get more stuff, you've got to buy these passes and all that kind of stuff. And I've come to terms with that.
Starting point is 00:24:37 But you're right, where it infiltrated sports games is it used to, if you played people online in this one mode, you knew you might play a rich kid who had better players than you. It was a part of it, but it was a territory you were stepping into. Now it's flipped to where if you want to play by yourself and you want to do some things in modes offline that you had fun with, having to pay for that content on top of the $80 video game is it's infiltrating in a way. It doesn't feel right. And a lot of people are pissed off. So, and you are? I don't, I honestly don't care. It doesn't sound like you do. Well, no. I mean, it's what's going on.
Starting point is 00:25:21 I don't know. My algorithm feeds me video game stuff, and I see a lot of people are upset because they like to do that kind of stuff. It doesn't really bother me because I'm not going to pay for an offline mode. I'm not going to pay any more for the game than I already did. but it is it is an issue yeah those people are fake mad dan blake is grandpa mad you know like i've told you guys before when my mom and all of her brothers and sisters bought my grandfather a big screen tv so he could watch nascar and after like a month it's set there for like 10 years
Starting point is 00:25:54 because he's just like i don't i got to fight with the cable company and it's like i'm not deal with it just canceled no the one old the one old man thing i am mad at about the game is used to, you know, you'd get the game, it was in the box, you had the manual, you'd go home, you'd play it, that was the product you were going to play for the next 12 months. What they released today sucks. And it's not the product, it's just that they've released a stable build, they're going to allow people to play it, and for the next month they're going to hear about, well, look, this, this needs to be fixed, this doesn't work right, this doesn't work right, and over the next month,
Starting point is 00:26:31 they'll patch it. And so there's no point in even playing it today or getting started. because it's going to drastically change over the next couple months. So it sounds like you wasted money being somebody who can get it a week ahead of time. But then the, I know, but then I'm sitting there wanting to play it, wanting to see what's new. So it's, I'm going to get it. I'm going to get it anyway. You're like the pot dealer that gave you kind of bad weed.
Starting point is 00:26:55 You'll still go back to them. Yeah, for sure. I'm not going to be without the weed. And ultimately, that's what everyone says is you can be mad as hell about all of these things. You're still going to play it. And that's why they can do it. Why don't we start up a competing video game company? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:12 How much could it cost? Yeah, I don't know, man. They always sucked, right? You just do... Bruning's a coder. What does that mean? Doesn't code mean you can make a game? That's a good start.
Starting point is 00:27:24 Yeah, I think so. In some way. All right. Well, let's do what we call sports. Let's make it what we call... Brought to us by what we call puddle pools. puddle pools it's funny i was talking to patrick who is uh part of the puddle pools empire here in df w
Starting point is 00:27:44 and uh he's still he's still he's bummed out that jake made fun of their little duck game still at the dzgSE and he's like so so jake is uh in hawaii and he doesn't want to tell you guys about the waterfalls or the beaches or the scenery he wants to complain about the roosters. And I said, look. And he's thinking, what he wants you to describe is what puddle pools wants to be for people, an island getaway. Your pool is your oasis.
Starting point is 00:28:17 And that you don't have to worry about anything. Like, you didn't have to go to Hawaii and then, like, clean the beach and stuff and then get in it, right? It was just there. I did not. I didn't have to filter it or anything. So they'll do weekly pool cleaning, maintenance, repairs. They can do equipment upgrades. Uh, puddle pools, don't they have a special website just for us?
Starting point is 00:28:39 Uh, they do. I, uh, don't have it in front of me, but you think I would. I was trying to be like radio guy and stuff. We're really, we're really just again. We're really just a game over here. Uh, pudd pools.com slash dumb zone. Puddlepools.com slash dumb zone. Uh, it's not their fault that the duck game sucked.
Starting point is 00:28:56 They will take care of your pool. Like an island oasis that is puddlepools.com slash dumb zone. We're going to sit down. He's got water reaching. If I say that, then I mean it. Puddlepool. Wait, I meant to sound down. com slash dumzo.
Starting point is 00:29:20 We're shaking our head because you should not be playing that audio. It ruins your mic if you play the audio. I don't know how it works. I'm well aware. We're going to work on it. No, we're not. Yeah, we are. We're going to do something different tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:29:35 Anyway, sports. I have two sports follow-ups, and then we can get back to, I think, college football is over. Since you're fired up about college football. Sports follow-up, you know who Dylan ceases? Oh, yeah. Former Ranger grade. Oh, yeah?
Starting point is 00:29:55 Was he? I think, wasn't he? He came up with the White Sox. He was a big-time prospect. Well, last night, he's a blue jay. Took a no-hitter into the ninth inning. Oh, no. Here's Dave.
Starting point is 00:30:12 Okay. He was at 118 pitches, and manager John Snyder sent him out for the ninth. Good. Gave up a hit right away. Pull him. Pulled him right away. All right. That's all you got to do.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Yep. It's all I'm asking. Give the guy a chance. Now, perfect game, especially. Perfect game. Perfect game. Remember the perfect game chant? Yes.
Starting point is 00:30:37 When a Ranger pitcher had a perfect game because it would make... He got the first out of the game. It would just make Ranger fans mad. Oh, yeah. Oh, you're ruining it. No, I... Anyway, let the guy go for some baseball history. Oh, you know what?
Starting point is 00:30:55 He needs a little rest. I know he has a home run, a triple, and a double, and he's going to be up again. but let's just take a seat. Let's take the rest of the night out. Why not just go for the cycle? Don't try to argue against this, Jake. I give up.
Starting point is 00:31:10 It's going to ruin all your baseball credit. All that you've built up in the last. And then one other follow-up from yesterday's program. Were we on yesterday? You know what I'm saying. Spurs play-by-play announcer Jacob Toby. has lost his job. You can get fired for that.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Well, not just cheating on his girlfriend, we think. It's still all alleged, but it was the Today and Twitter from a couple days ago where, yeah, his girlfriend put on Instagram, I think, found his phone and said, hey, Jacob Toby, this is Jacob Toby with his girlfriend.
Starting point is 00:31:59 Too bad he's now sleeping, with and he put the name of it's a player's sister a spurs player's sister and uh it's just like i'm a bad guy all this kind of stuff and so yeah the spurs are probably just like look i don't know what's going on here but you're a play-by-play guy and play-by-play guys sorry for all our play-by-play guy friends but uh you know what it is sometimes when you're they uh you rank well below the players on the list of priorities. In fact, the Oklahoma Thunder guy, Oklahoma City Thunder guy, was like there for their entire existence in Oklahoma City. He might have been an announcer in
Starting point is 00:32:45 Seattle, for all I know, but he got fired because he said he's out of his cotton pick in mind. And we were in an era when even just saying, hey, what kind of shirt you got on? What is that made of? like cotton. I didn't know you're that racist. Anyway. Well, it's not time for a poncho spot, but I don't wear cotton, so that would never come up. I also think it's probably unlikely, but possible that the thunder brought anybody over from Seattle at all. That was a fairly contentious.
Starting point is 00:33:19 I mean, maybe. Okay, yeah, I didn't. Right. And I don't know how many people in Seattle use that term. Old men in Seattle used cotton. Cotton picking. I grew up with it for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:30 I think you're out of your cotton pick in mind. I think the good news for Jacob Toby is that I don't know that this takes you out of your profession, right? There's many more play-by-play guys who will screw up, give up, move on. You're not getting another NBA job right away. That's for sure. Thumb is back. Yeah, but Thom's Tom.
Starting point is 00:33:51 You know, that's pretty high heights he was at. But, yeah, I think they can come back. Yeah, Jacob Toby doesn't seem to have the, uh, He seems to be pretty young. Yeah. Yeah. He is. All right, that's my follow-up.
Starting point is 00:34:05 I know you had college football news, including that the Big 12 has, are they the first sponsored conference? They are. What is it now? Like, do we, are we going to hear people saying this? Well, they're going to, yeah, in the same way that, you know, Fox had to say Dallas Stadium and everyone else got. So they'll say it's the big, it's the Monster Energy Big 12. Yeah. Yes.
Starting point is 00:34:34 So you might have previously heard them say at the end of the year, like the Dr. Pepper Big 12 championship. But this will be, they will refer to it. I mean, I'm interested to see with what like ESPN does on their website. Because it might say the monster, Brett Yormark, the commissioner is talking like that's what it's going to be. It will be dubbed Monster Energy Big 12 football and Monster. Energy Big 12 basketball. And the number was the thing that everybody was talking about. It was shockingly low, like 20 million.
Starting point is 00:35:08 20 million a year. Yeah, it's like a million per inch per member. And that's not much. It doesn't seem like. But, I mean, the market's the market. You'd have to figure these people know what they're doing. But that is, that's a, fuck, that's chump change. Well, now if the other conferences do decide to follow suit,
Starting point is 00:35:26 they can revel in big dicking them about. Yeah, we got 80 million. Which they will do, you know, anyways. The other points here, I feel, are quite obvious as a child of the Big 12 in the Southwest Conference. The only conference that it would make sense for Monster Energy to sponsor is the current Big 12. The zombie-fied at the bar way past when they should be. like this is the big 12 is monster energy and monster energy is the big 12 it's the dirt bike of college football and this fits perfectly shit half of tech's jerseys look like they were made by monster
Starting point is 00:36:12 anyways you know every friend i have that went to tex tech lives on white monster uh it's they it's perfect you know in the same way that if it were let's do one like i don't know chick fillet for the SEC or you know if you wanted to do dunk in or something like monster to me despite not being a Texas product is the big 12 it's fucking wild nobody really knows if it's good for you but we're going to do it and it'll be fun along the way and so they have brett your mark as their commissioner and we're in this world
Starting point is 00:36:46 now where we know these people's names like i'm sure that like bob stern knew the SEC's head name growing up but there's no fucking reason why we should know all these people's names. It's insane. Too many ADs, too many TV network, too many conference people that you know their name. And Brett Yourmark is leaning into that because in the clip we're about to play, and I think the video is instructive. It starts off with a guy asking a question, and he looks and sounds exactly like the generic mid-tier reporter, which means he's not going to be put on TV, right? And then when they cut to Your Mark,
Starting point is 00:37:26 this is a conference meeting he's not at a podium he's not at a desk he's not sitting in a chair he's up there walking around like he's at a ted talk he has like the little headset mike and he's like stomping around him like a tight suit like he's giving a presentation the conference commissioner yeah yes yeah he's got like tight like looks all like it's the whole thing is just it's hilarious um so we can play the glyph if you want Stop and start as we're allowed to. Commission, Texas Tech got fined over tortillas and tortillas were banned out right. OSU paddles, broken always make a rule. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:08 Yes, he's getting an invitation. Yes, and everyone was. And so he does stumble tortillas and he gets. I think he was saying a different food. I think it's both. No, I think he's going to do it again. But he's also still getting the feedback. And especially on a day where we're having feedback problems or whatever,
Starting point is 00:38:29 but this guy's nervous, he doesn't know the word correctly. And as Blake said, because he's heard more of the audio in the press conference, this was an issue all day. Texas Tech got fined over tortillas and tortillas were banned outright. OSU panels, broken always make a rule, has a tradition of exemption. Soresby never played a snap. Big 12. sued them anyway while Cincinnati hasn't been yet touched. You're selling
Starting point is 00:38:58 greater than 12. Why should Texans believe in? Can you sit? Let me come closer to your stand up. Ask that question again and I'm going to give you the answer I want to give you so go ahead. Texas Tech got fine for two teteos and tortillas were banned outright. OSU has had paddles that were given a noisemaker exemption back in 2012. SORSB never played a snap for the red radiators, and yet there is a lawsuit. Cincinnati has yet to be touched. You're selling greater than 12.
Starting point is 00:39:39 Why should Texas tech fans believe them? No, I didn't say greater than 12. You misquoted me. I said, we're going forward to 16 strong, and that's my answer to your question. But thank you for that question. Appreciate it. Boy, he really chicken out. He really chickened out.
Starting point is 00:39:55 And he said initially, you know, this is not the time to talk about Soresby. The first question of the media conference was about Sorsby, which he quickly put in place. How is this not the time? It's the time when you're, it's called the Big 12 Media Day. It's the Big 12 to answer every question they can from the, this one, it's our one shot. We get it, we get everything. It's the time to ask about every single thing within the Big 12. It's Big 12 media day.
Starting point is 00:40:23 be when is the time but um yeah you know you've got a guy up there who's making whatever he's making millions of dollars talking to this reporter from a stage up there it's already demeaning enough but now this is the way that he's stalking around up there like a stand up fucking european soccer coach kid up you might as well call him fat like the guy's nervous that whole thing i thought was gross and um really set off by that very bright monster energy logo and the backdrop. Yeah. To the guy's credit, that is a good question.
Starting point is 00:41:00 I don't even know what he's saying. Well, first, I lost him. Okay. All right. So to begin with, Texas Tech was penalized for the tortillas. We covered that a lot last year. Yeah. No more tortillas.
Starting point is 00:41:12 Sorry, Brian Winhorse. Oklahoma State has had paddles forever. And they were grandfathered in saying it's a noise maker exemption. Sorsby never played for Texas. Tech, they're the ones that are getting sued. Cincinnati has not had anything thrown against them. It does seem like tech is kind of getting the short end of the stick here. Okay, yeah, I mean, if that's the argument, I don't know about the,
Starting point is 00:41:40 did they throw the noise makers on the field in Stillwater? No, they just bang the hell out of that wall. Okay, well, that's a noise. Like, under the rules, those should not be allowed, but they are because they've been doing it forever. Texas Tech fans have been throwing the tortillas forever, too. he could have offered some answer other than you misquoted me because either 16 going forward, 12, they're both stupid. What are we talking to? That's not an answer to anything.
Starting point is 00:42:07 You guys a pussy. Just get up there and answer the question. Seriously, dude. Like, that's your job. I know. And also, like, you have all the power. Like, give some sort of answer. It's the thing.
Starting point is 00:42:18 What is he alleging then, the tech reporter? Is he like, you should be standing up for tech more as the- Yeah, tech is being treated unfairly. here. Right. Like the MLBPA, like any problem, you just stand up for him.
Starting point is 00:42:31 Yes. Because that's your, it's your family. You're a member. Yeah. Okay. I wanted to play one other thing. It doesn't have video.
Starting point is 00:42:40 It doesn't need it. You can get a pretty good image in your head. Two questions after this, we get a question from BYU. And that was the other fun part of this is before, based on the question in their delivery, you could guess which team they were from.
Starting point is 00:42:55 Yeah. You can tell that's an Iowa State question. This is a BYU question. And it's so perfectly BYU. Here we go. Thank you for your question. Last question over here. It's going to skip around.
Starting point is 00:43:12 They had problems with their wireless. It is what it is. Good morning. My name is Nate Church. I'm with the BYU Daily Universe. I wanted to ask you, friends, and the team have experienced religious It cut out. Our team faced religious predatory remarks last season.
Starting point is 00:43:33 The military remarks last season. I wanted to ask you about what steps are being taken by the conference to help prevent that from happening this upcoming season. Everyone was mean to us. What is a religious predatory remark? What do you mean is that people have... This is because of the folks? Yeah. What?
Starting point is 00:43:56 It was during basketball. The coach said that they were, the fans were saying F.U. Mormons. So the Big 12 did an investigation of it and found nothing wrong with it. Investigation. Yeah. Biggester quotes. Hired Matt lot. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:16 Hey, everyone's being mean to us. What are you going to do about it? What are you going to do about it? Yeah. No, I did. Make them stop saying that. We're going to institute soaking at every university. Because I don't know how this all works with what religions can violate it, how.
Starting point is 00:44:36 But my understanding is there are a lot of Mormons who are like, okay, no coffee. That clearly just means coffee. But they don't drink alcohol. So they house energy drinks, boys. And BYU and Utah are now in the Big 12. So I don't know. Wait. You're not allowed to drink.
Starting point is 00:44:55 caffeine or you're not allowed to have cough. I thought you're not allowed to have a stimulant. Yeah, but I swear, based on when I, my wife worked with a lot of Mormon people and they were the biggest energy drink consumers I've ever met in my life this side of West Texas oil people. But they would not have coffee. Yeah, it's like you can't have the natural version of it. It's kind of like soaking. The word of wisdom says it prohibits hot drinks. Like coffees and teas.
Starting point is 00:45:27 It's a cold monster. It's clearly just cows, pigs, wars, and witches, right, Dan? Like, it was written one way. I haven't written it yet. I read that yet. This is the whole book right there, though, you know? Oh, wow. Don't diminish the book.
Starting point is 00:45:40 I was looking forward to reading it. Hey, I got another football thing. What's, this is a today in Twitter, too. What's the deal with Cole Beasley? He says, I figure this is a high school thing. This wet bulb rule is some of the softest crap I've ever seen. How is anyone going to practice in Texas? Do you know what this is?
Starting point is 00:46:05 High school football, man. And if you don't, I'm helping prepper you for the season. My first get, I don't. No, I don't. I'm not going to. I don't know. Go ahead. Okay, I thought it had something to do with dehydration.
Starting point is 00:46:20 And, like, I also did not research it because I thought, I have high school football guy here. My first thought was humidity. wet bulb rule. What is that? That's what Cole Beasley said. Now, did he, is there a typo? Okay.
Starting point is 00:46:35 I misunderstood and thought you said wet ball. Bulb. Yeah, like a light ball. Yeah, it's about practicing outside. The wet bulb rule dictates that athletic practices and outdoor work must be modified or canceled when a combined measure of air temperature, humidity, wind speed, and sun angle reaches dangerous levels. Right? Are we, uh, yeah, let me get my, we're analyticsing, uh, weather.
Starting point is 00:47:06 Like, hey, here's my strength and conditioning coach, a 26 year old steroid freak who's drunk half the time out here. Like, let me get the wind speed. Let me combine it with the, uh, what's the sun angle? But no, launch angle, I think of. Yes, sun angle. What are we to, what it? Are we saying like up bad, noon? That seems bad, right? I don't like that. I don't like that at all. Pete Delkis with your wet bulb forecast for the day. I don't know of anyone that follows this. Well, Cole Beasley is also upset about it. Listen, Cole Beasley is a somebody approaching him with the right offer away from walking around on YouTube, knocking on daycare doors going, hey, what the fuck's going on in there?
Starting point is 00:47:51 Hey, is my kid Ahmed Beasley in there? This was in there from day one, bro. What if he's walking around, just he's checking out practices. Yeah, hey, you guys, pretty pussies over here? I have more sports, but I'm actually going to tell you that even though you put Flooring Direct next, this is going to be brought to you by Flooring Direct because Dan Ratliff is a part and parcel to this. Rat Cliff. They're yelling at you if you don't get his name right.
Starting point is 00:48:24 I know him is Dan, Dan, Dan, the Flooring Direct man. And I've already told you we're a customer. We're balls deep in the whole process. Like we're about to pull the trigger. Of course, that'll be delayed by a few days. The den is not to be flipped. But yeah, the den is getting flipped. Had to explain to my wife, I don't think you can do it because we're trying to get the dates now.
Starting point is 00:48:48 Like when do we want to actually have them come in? It'll only take, they say, one or two days to replace all the floors in our house. but we need Clayton here if we're going to be in the den messing with the cameras. So, but hey, if you don't have a podcast studio above your garage, you don't have to worry about that. It's flooring direct, dfw.com slash dZ. Meet or beat any deal that you can find. They are local, local, local, local, that's their big thing. They are not a national chain.
Starting point is 00:49:21 Most of the flooring places are. So you're going to get great customer service. my sales guy happened to be Rick Renner, who is the most now, like, he's a savant on this flooring stuff, dude. It is wonderful. He's got the patience of someone in the Bible had a lot of patience, and people reference it a lot. You know the story. You play 42. So check out flooring direct, DFW.com slash dZ.
Starting point is 00:49:47 It has been an awesome experience. I can't wait until it's finally done. We're going to christen every room together when you get back. Jake. So flooring direct DFW.com slash dZ that's our flooring company, the official flooring company of the dumb zone and
Starting point is 00:50:03 certainly of this household. Well, Dan Ratcliffe is a big soccer guy. He's got soccer kids. He actually still plays soccer. Like still plays club competitive. Oh, he does? I didn't know that. Yeah. So he's got
Starting point is 00:50:20 a lot of background in history here and I don't know. This is a thing that this is, to talk about how haughty this is. I kind of feel like this is probably like around 2015, everyone I knew had an opinion on politics suddenly. Like for a while you were kind of a dork if you did, but then all of a sudden everybody's like,
Starting point is 00:50:40 this is my identity. That's how I feel probably your people are going to feel if they're really into soccer, because I don't understand the dynamics or complexities of this at all. But just from, you know, an economics and a, you know, behavioral standpoint and how society organizes itself, this argument of like, why is the United States not better at soccer is compelling to me. It's an interesting one.
Starting point is 00:51:06 And the biggest one that you always hear is the biggest one, right? Well, our biggest athletes, our best athletes aren't going over there. But it's so much more complex than that, right? Like they've got these academy systems in Europe where, you know, if you develop play, players, they get purchased by the club above, and then that gets reinvested into the academy, and they can live off of a star for a half decade. So that doesn't happen here. There's no, the customer over here is not the team. The customer is the parent here, because we're paying to play. They don't pay to play necessarily over there. And Norway was in the news because they hadn't
Starting point is 00:51:51 made it this far and had sustained success in a really long time. And someone pointed out to me that about 30 years ago or so, Norway, for all intents and purposes, made youth sports free fully. There are exceptions, like, it is kind of to the need, and there are some, I guess, very wealthyish for them, people who pay. but in the most part, anybody who wants to play sports, you're playing. And they do it later, they do it like through like high school or even like maybe it's like 14, but they don't just do it when you're a little kid because a lot of times you don't know who's
Starting point is 00:52:34 going to be good until they're 13 or 14. And so we lose a lot of people who might be great athletes at eight, nine or 10 because they can't pay to play in our league. So that's part of it. Dan was pretty focused on the size part of it. Because also when you watch Norway and you see Holland, the Viking looking striker, I've never known a person like that in person in my life who played soccer. I've never met a soccer player.
Starting point is 00:53:08 Yeah. And I've, you know, you think I would, I've just never met somebody that size with that speed. It's impossible to deny that there. they're just not playing soccer in America. So it's probably a combination of things. But if they were to go back to your very initial point, which everybody falls back on, is like would the football coach have recruited him?
Starting point is 00:53:31 Sure. Because that football coach is absolutely at basketball practice and the other. Oh. He's, if you hear that guy, when he hears a freak athlete in another sport in his school, he's going to go. big dick that coach and say, you know what football is?
Starting point is 00:53:52 I lost a lot of playing time like that, Dan. All right. It looks like the depth chart is shaping up. Here we go, boy. Who's this guy? Right. Yeah, I know he could dunk, but we're playing fun. No, it's definitely a size thing.
Starting point is 00:54:08 It's at some level, but soccer's not a big man's game, you know? So that's why I'm saying it's a multifaceted thing. The best players are small. Our best players are small. but we don't have also those other guys coming in to round it out. The skill thing, like there's a lot of, this I guess applies to baseball a little bit too, but it seems like today's show is brought to you by capitalism. It just seems like you're making people pay a lot for the same level of talent and competition
Starting point is 00:54:42 they were getting before because everyone's doing it. Like I saw someone from the basketball world. chime in on this and say their opinion was basically, you know, because if you complain about all the money you have to spend to get a good basketball player, they say, actually, the best players don't pay anything because you want them to come to all your stuff. And they're sucking the money out of the people who are trying to make their less than talented kids one of those kids. Yeah, that's been going on for a long time.
Starting point is 00:55:20 Blake, I'm sure, has seen that game before, where you've got the rich kids and then a couple kids who aren't, who are getting subsidized. Yeah, the rich kid can get on the travel team, perhaps, yeah. Yeah, and certain kids get rides to practices. Yeah, but the idea of sort of kids, you'll drive to Fort Worth if you need a pitcher. But, you know what I'm saying, the idea of like,
Starting point is 00:55:41 all right, we need to pay for this competition is because my kid is too good. Like, he's not being, she's not being challenged. We need to get them to another trouble, and we're going to put all those kids together. Well, now everybody who's a five and below on a scale of 10, or excuse me, five and up, they're paying. It's not just great kids. So you're just getting the same experience, but making it cost more. And the development is not getting better. The idea would be if you pay the development gets better, much like when it comes to something you might like say, people would say about like health care.
Starting point is 00:56:10 We're paying a lot, which is okay, but it's also not getting better. There's so much here. there's just so much in the youths, like, the, because I've heard this, a lot of this stuff all my life. One of the things I've heard is that you get them in these organized leagues so early now, like your kid is not even five, right? And yours, Blake, is not even five. But they're in like tee ball or something, or they're in soccer. But it's organized.
Starting point is 00:56:45 And that's the only time they ever play that. They're not playing it on the, their own with their friends in the front yard. I used to hear that a lot about basketball. There's just not as much pickup anymore or, you know, everything is organized so you don't kind of develop some of your natural things on your own. That's why swings and, you know, Julio Franco had a real unique swing. That won't happen today in the United States because we're going to teach you the proper swing
Starting point is 00:57:14 from the age of six. And you're going to. Warner was going on about this the other day, too, like that he learned, he had to figure out his slot and his arm motion. And kids today are like being driven one way. Your robot quarterback. This is how you're supposed to throw. Yeah. And there's no.
Starting point is 00:57:31 I mean, I definitely think that's an interesting. But if you said that, as far as soccer is concerned, soccer is just not universal enough that there are pickup games in the front yard. You know? Yeah, but our athletes are better than ever before. are athletes, but so are theirs. Well, I'm just saying, like, you're right. You don't, everyone kind of looks the same, but the skill is, I don't know, you're just getting good training at a really young age at a rate that we've never had before.
Starting point is 00:58:01 But what is it at what cost? I mean, is our only goal the very, very best athlete that he can be at the top level? Or should some of our goal be life and realizing that we, shouldn't gear everything to try and be the top 1%. Who are you talking to, though? People that want their kids to end up being the top 1%. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:30 Well, I think I've always found that like, hey, we're doing too much structure argument, like pretty compelling. But I just, I know that in Europe they do, and this is something Dan brought up, they're almost like forcing you. It's like you've got to play sports young and it's free. We're playing. Everybody's playing. And that's organized. And I feel like that can't be a bad thing. Then they'll scout that out.
Starting point is 00:58:53 Yeah. Now maybe what you do is you're going to get the pressure, right? The pressure of money and travel and we're going to the hotel. Like you just, we don't play seven games a week. You come. You play two games a week. It's free. We figure out who's good.
Starting point is 00:59:06 So that and the other problem with the United States clearly is that we have more than one word in the name of our country. Because as I told you guys the other day, looking at the table. It just doesn't, it doesn't look good. And in fact, by a certain definition, really only four teams with more than one name and their country name have ever made it to the final eight. Oh, do you research that? Okay. I did. How many have there been? More than like 10? Well, you can get a little bit tricky with like some of the like North Korea. They call it East Germany for a minute. But like basically it's Costa Rica, the United States. the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland ever.
Starting point is 00:59:52 We need to go to America as a name. Just look at the table right now. Strong games. I mean, I love your theory, and I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter. Okay. Okay. Ancillary Cowboy News.
Starting point is 01:00:12 Von Miller posted a picture of himself in a cowboy uniform. Great. Now, he also did one in a... Broncos uniform earlier this offseason. The difference is, of course. Why did he put that little devil emoji in a cucumber next to it? That's one of Blake's favorite
Starting point is 01:00:34 dumb zone stories, I think. Many, many, many Vaughn Miller's stories ago, it was him kind of emojiing through an abortion. Yeah. Wow, you just Kemp's been Von Miller. It was a good one. We've done this one. Oh, it's already been there.
Starting point is 01:00:50 Oh, yeah. And then he's just responding to other people. My favorite part of the whole thing, one guy is like, you letting off in that thing? And Vaughn Miller says, Ben. Ben. With purple emoji, the purple horny emoji guy. I have been letting off in that thing.
Starting point is 01:01:12 So let the speculation begin very LeBron of him. Hey, talk about me for a while. Let's try to get everybody. I don't know if you're following LeBron, but it's, my feed has lots of Cleveland media people and just everything going on regarding Cleveland. So if we were doing a show in Cleveland, we probably have to do every second on LeBron. I think they've been so average the Cowboys. Well, that's not so average. They were just bad last year.
Starting point is 01:01:46 The McCarthy year sucked. that I think this probably is, we're safe from this. But if Vaughn Miller signs with the Cowboys, do you guys remember those cursed? We brought up one of the cursed Redskins teams the other day. The Eagles, when Vince Young signed as a backup,
Starting point is 01:02:05 oh, just ring chasing. It's dream time. Those teams went like six games. Like if Von Miller joins the Cowboys after Caleb Downs and hey, look, we got Quinn and Williams. This is a different deal, dude.
Starting point is 01:02:16 We got another year of Pickens. People are going to start talking like, well, yeah. I mean, that's, he's ring chasing. Ring chasing. Yeah, this is not Demarcus Lawrence, or not Demarcus Lawrence, Demarcus Ware joining Von Miller back then. That was different. Other ancillary cowboy news, Michael Irvin.
Starting point is 01:02:40 Have you seen? He's going to be somehow contributing. I don't know if he's one of the main announcers, whatnot, but he's going to be on the home run derby this year. What? Bro. Why? Let me tell you something right now.
Starting point is 01:02:57 Where is it? I created YouTube TV. Sorry, I was mid-vapult because I didn't expect to have to talk right here. I created YouTube TV. I had the idea for Shredder Ski School. And I swear to God that if you go back and find audio of bad radio reviewing home run derbies 10, 12 years ago, we had the idea of an SAP button that was just Michael Irvin. and we came up with it during the home run derby.
Starting point is 01:03:19 On a home run derby, really? I swear to God, it became a thing. We're like, imagine if he were there. This is perfect. Like, you need him at the Oscars. Well, we've recorded every show. Once you joined the show, we did start recording every show from then on. At a very low cost, oddly enough, the whole station didn't decide to follow suit.
Starting point is 01:03:44 But we could find that. if it exists. No, so the Home Run Derby is not on ESPN for the first time ever. Do you know where is the Home Run Derby? The Internet Plus, ESPN Plus. Fox? The Home Run Derby not on ESPN. The answer is, that's right.
Starting point is 01:04:09 Netflix. That's a super egregious use to that. Oh, that's why it's serving. Okay. Oh, because this is podcast is on Netflix? That's another thing I wanted to mention. So Michael Irvin apparently has a podcast. It's called like the White House or something.
Starting point is 01:04:24 Yep. And it all stems off of because one of the Netflix execs is watching the Jerry documentary and somewhere in there. Michael Irvin proclaimed himself as president of the White House. This guy is like, wait, who's this guy with a lot of Riz? What is the White House? Did some research. Figured it out, figured, yeah, Michael Irvin does have. what many programmers have thought in the past.
Starting point is 01:04:50 Like, we should give him a local radio show because he's Michael Irvin and he's got Riz. It doesn't always translate, but I'm very, now I probably predicted failure on YouTube after you had the idea and I said, no one's going to want to watch these little things. TVs are getting bigger and HD. We're never going to, YouTube will not take off.
Starting point is 01:05:12 But, so with that as a backdrop, I'd like to admit that I've had at least one incorrect opinion in the past. Big of you. I don't get, like, Bill Simmons does a podcast, and he'll do it on Netflix. Like Netflix said, hey, we want to get in this world. Who gets all these YouTube numbers?
Starting point is 01:05:32 Let's steal some of them away and make them just do their thing over here. I'm probably the wrong guy, because I'm also not tuning into a lot of podcasts on YouTube. I'm more of an audio guy. Who's firing up YouTube? saying or Netflix, like I got to the NBA draft just happened.
Starting point is 01:05:54 I'm going to go Netflix to see what Bill Simmons is saying. I believe Bill Simmons has a huge podcast, but do we go to net? Yeah. I think it's super weird. I've seen some of the numbers on Barstool and they're not good.
Starting point is 01:06:08 They have a Barstool podcast on there too? Yeah, they put part of my take on there and took it off some other platforms. That's the biggest podcast in the world. So they definitely shelled out money. But the video thing to me, this is, it's promotional. Like that's really now it allows us to do some cool stuff every now and then, but it's because if you want to promote the show, it's way more likely somebody will like watch a minute of you doing the show on their phone than
Starting point is 01:06:35 listen to a minute of it in a little MP3 file. That's really the only reason we're doing this. It helps with ads to like, because you can use that content, same way that just having the audio, nobody's just going to listen to an audio ed with no image on it. on their phone. They do it in their car, but I don't think you would. So to me, that's, that's why this is here is for promotion. Don't, don't get it twisted and give somebody $10 million to move it over there. That's a dumbass idea.
Starting point is 01:07:03 Okay. Exactly how you thought it would. I heard the Burnick's talking about that a while back, too. They were like, why, wow, this video podcast, what is all this? But yeah, that's, yeah. Yeah, and like, my dad. It's really just for clips, huh? I swear that's all it is.
Starting point is 01:07:16 My dad printed out and highlighted a Wall Street Journal article. about this for me or he was like you know it was about like clearly some editors at the wall street journal just didn't like it and they're like this is ruining podcasting i'm like well you know we kind of been on that but whatever huh yeah that's that it's failing they they they lit money on fire there but i mean you're saying bar stool did it bill simmons did it it once again brings you back to uh how little uh the dumb zone knows about business um we also left a platform where we're real, real successful. We just didn't get somebody to money whip us to do it.
Starting point is 01:07:55 They're like, hey, we heard everybody's leaving their platform going to another one. Let's do it. No, no, no. It's because Netflix paid them way too much. Oh, okay. Yeah. Well, I didn't realize. Some people would say those guys are moving with a net, you know.
Starting point is 01:08:15 I would say we like to work with that one. That's just our personality. T personality. In fact, you might say a high T personality. Because the testosterone is high around here with Game Day men's health, gameday.com. Not just the peptides, but that is kind of the new bit. Some of the game day locations have access to the, what is it called, the GLP ones?
Starting point is 01:08:42 So that's very big these days as well. Yeah, it's across the board now. Go at least investigate. You can get your T levels checked if you're a dude, but if you're a dude or not-d-do- You'll take a couple minutes. Walk in, free. If you're wondering, hey, what is my testosterone level? Free at Game Day men's health. Now, if it's high and you still feel like a loser, you're on your own. But if it's not, there's probably something they can do for you. I'm on a peptide, Dan. A lot of people have been emailing me about it, so I had to look it up. They call it the Wolverine stack. Bad ass. And that's when I learned that Wolverine, one of his superpowers is he recovers quickly.
Starting point is 01:09:24 Didn't know that. You know why? Because I'm a Marvel guy. It's gameday. Dot dumzone.com. They have 12 area locations, peptides, TRT. There's other things that can help you with. Your sexual wellness.
Starting point is 01:09:35 They're feeling tired. Whatever it is, gameday.dumzone.com. Tell them we sent you. Before viewer mail, may I do one more sports story? It's very quick. And really, I feel like this is for our... show we have to do this. Did you see the Rangers or Globe Life Field put something out?
Starting point is 01:09:56 For the first time ever, guests can book a one-hour time slot to take batting practice from home plate at Global Life Field. That's cool. That's great. It's not just like a – because I've long thought – and maybe there are these already, like a golf simulator but it's baseball simulator. Like, is there a thing where you can actually hit home runs at Wrigley Field? Yeah, something was supposed to be happening.
Starting point is 01:10:26 A buddy of ours was an investor in it. I don't know what ended up happening to it, but it's a very cool idea. I know you can do softball. There's a park in... Where is it? I don't remember. Big League Dreams. You can play it Finway, play it Wrigley, whatever.
Starting point is 01:10:40 Oh. Yes, I have heard of that. That's cool. That would be cool. Yeah, but Global Life Field, it's... Like, they offer tours and stuff, but they've added this. So it's like, I had the website up earlier. It's like $100 or $1,000.
Starting point is 01:11:00 Let's see. What is the cost? Whatever it is, it's like you and eight friends. So maybe it's like $900. Wow. That's great. Eight people. You get an hour.
Starting point is 01:11:13 Like, would you pay $100 for an hour of batting practice? All of us? Without a doubt. No, $100 each person. Dude, you're on a major league field getting to swing a bat. Yes, you would pay $100 for that. Yeah, that's cool. That's definitely worth it.
Starting point is 01:11:27 You have to use wood bat. Why? 12 and younger can use a metal bat. Wait, why? Why can't we use a metal bat? What about plays like a 12-year-old and younger? It does not indicate. Like, it says your biological age at birth.
Starting point is 01:11:45 I'm still confused about the wood bat. Your guests, so if you have, it's you and seven other people, right, the others can catch balls while they're not hitting so you can get out in the outfield skewed in i'll just say it first okay i realize can you cork the bat i realized that this uh would this is a long play but if i i got you know we used to do jokes like oh i'm you're i'm i identify as a 12 year old boy how would i right now do in bronco league based like if they could if the team would let me just play. Just play a full 30 game season.
Starting point is 01:12:25 At 12? 12 year old. Yeah. So they're throwing 75. Can you hit? I hit a lot better than Dan thinks I can. In fact, that's something I'd like us to put to the test. Really, whenever you want.
Starting point is 01:12:39 But it's a lot better than throwing. But it still ain't going to be as good as a good 12-year-old. I'm going to say, back to one of your brags there, I don't think you can, get a hit off of me and I haven't thrown a ball in years. That's the first step. Let alone. Can you hit off Dan?
Starting point is 01:12:58 Yes. All right. We're going to set up. If he can get it over the plate. But this is, uh, oh, you know, it's so fun. It's so fun when these guys get into baseball and they're like, oh, no, I can play. He writes an article on throwing. I know.
Starting point is 01:13:12 All of a sudden. I'm the guy who knows that. Tech, uh, Texas Tech baseball actually did a promotion where if you brought your whole frat out and came to a series over the weekend. They would let the frat take derby practice when it was over, which I thought was brilliant. Oh, you weren't setting up a joke. I was convinced he was.
Starting point is 01:13:33 No, I'm saying that was legitimately like they had a promotion where it's like, you can hit out here, but you've got to come to the games. Oh, just to make sure their stands were filled. Yeah. I used to go to college baseball games all the time when I was in college. They're fun as hell, dude. Yeah. They really are.
Starting point is 01:13:50 I guess I'd go anywhere that. Had beer. Yeah, yeah. All right. Hot mail. Oh, it's not. Sorry, that's my bad. It's an uncle hot mail.
Starting point is 01:14:08 Is there an email in your box for me? I start with an unfair email. I feel this is unfair. It's the Star Telegram. The Star-O-Gram. And I think they're using dirty play as an entity that enjoys getting members to subscribe as well
Starting point is 01:14:35 Patreon. Or patreon.com slash the dumbzone. Or you can go to dumbzone.com. Two different platforms for the same great taste. The Star Telegram says, they send an email to us, our commitment to the crucial role local journalism plays in supporting a thriving
Starting point is 01:14:56 democracy and in keeping communities healthy hasn't wavered, nor will it. At the same time, we're continuing to evolve how we deliver that journalism to ensure you have the best possible experience. Today, we're reaching out to share an upcoming price adjustment to your Fort Worth Star Telegram billing. Your next payment, your rate will now be $4.38 per week plus 10. The point is, how am I going to tug at your heartstrings to tell you how important we are? We're not.
Starting point is 01:15:23 We suck. We're dirt bags. We're the dirt bike of podcasts or local sports journalism. I want to be able to say, do you care about a thriving democracy or do you want to swirl into communism? No, because let me tell you something. This is not fair. You're looking at some guys here who will waver. There's absolutely no doubt about it.
Starting point is 01:15:53 If a waiver, if there's wavering coming, we'll waiver. So where we continue to evolve? I don't know that we will continue to evolve. I think this is, this may be already surprised that it's gotten this far. So we're kind of in icing time now. But at the end of the day, I do know they're going through like a union thing. And so I don't know. You put you in that tough spot, right?
Starting point is 01:16:17 Where it's like, well, what have you guys made less money? It's like, well, we're not going to do that. Do you want these people to make more? We're going to charge you 50 cents more. Like, all right. Now, if I always love that, it's got to go to you. The cost has to go to you. If I were to air out my friends at the Star Telegram, it would be that I feel like their cancellation process is borderline criminal.
Starting point is 01:16:39 In fact, then I'm serious, dude. Like, you got to call between, like, they got to have the weather bulb or whatever, right? I'm absolutely for those. It's fucking crazy. congressional measures to it should be the same whatever hoop you had to jump through to sign up that's your limit on the hoop
Starting point is 01:17:00 you jump through to get rid of it yeah speaking of soccer did I put the photo in there about soccer momentum mm-hmm anyway Chad sends us the momentum chart that ITV in the UK
Starting point is 01:17:19 has been using on the World Cup broadcast they have a momentum chart. So you can see there in the beginning that one team had a high Mexico had the momentum and then what other team, whatever team ECU means had the high moment. The point is, yeah, when you have the ball, you're going to, okay, now you have the momentum, right? And I guess if you have the ball closer to the goal, we'll tick you up on the momentum chart. Dude, I saw the funniest one the other day. It was exactly like this if you're looking at it where like the first team had all of it and then it flipped down to the other.
Starting point is 01:17:52 team and it like you could and I pulled up the game it's just when the other team scored it's like well clearly the fact that the other team had the momentum didn't matter if it ended with the other team suddenly scoring which got which gave them what and the momentum there you go you don't understand momentum like I do I guess you probably didn't play though I mean you know when you play you know yeah that's true speaking of soccer one more I have a fun soccer song from D1 D1 Daryl We don't really use D1, but we will for Daryl. Oh, he also, so the fun soccer song will be at the end of the show. I have already put it there.
Starting point is 01:18:35 He also has a movie trope. Every vehicle that falls down a hill or mountain explodes into a huge car bomb like a fireball. And he adds to the Miss Piggy list. She might already be on there, though. Kelly Clarkson. Yeah, the more we round this thing out, she'll be on Mount Oinkmore.
Starting point is 01:18:52 for sure. Actually, she's not only on the list, she was the first edition. Okay, well, thank you, Darrell. Who was Darrell? It could be Darrell and Plano. Which one was that? Hey, Norm, I've seen some of your picks at the track, too, and they're not real good either. Didn't you meet him or met his son or something?
Starting point is 01:19:12 We had him all, I met his son. Met his son at the airport. His son actually worked for, like, a video game company or something. He's like, my dad's... Is that the guy last year at the Bob Hope Airport? Yes. Oh, okay. You know him.
Starting point is 01:19:25 Royalty. I got another movie trope. This from Glenn. In movies depicting the before times with bows and arrows, why do they say fire when it's time to shoot them? Guns weren't invented yet. Ready? Yeah, did you have to look out for them?
Starting point is 01:19:44 I don't know. I don't know anything about weaponry. Clayton, what do you say? You still need to let people know that an arrow is coming. They're just trying to make. it relatable. This one from Tracy, I really laughed hard. Dude gets shot in the side and doesn't tell anyone until they move his shirt back and the white undershirt has blood seen through it.
Starting point is 01:20:08 Why didn't you tell me you were hit? It's over for me, kid. I'll hold them off while you keep going. You got shot? Like you just kept that there. Oh. What did you tell me you were hit? So good.
Starting point is 01:20:26 No Tux Chad has another visual here, so if you are watching. But I guess we've learned we only do this for the clips. This is a patent for Jake, a dual-purpose water slash urine can. Because the problem people have with you and your water, you just don't want to actually drink out of the part where you've gone, body at one point. So he is put up a patented
Starting point is 01:20:58 two chambers. A lower chamber holds the water as you drink it. The upper chamber will become bigger. I guess that doesn't solve the problem of actually drinking out of the thing.
Starting point is 01:21:09 Anyway, No Tux Chad sent that. If it were a hard cap, it would. I'll be your day one beta tester here, just like NCAA football. They just came out. That's not enough urine in there.
Starting point is 01:21:20 Yeah, the ratio is all. well and see that's the thing is that this guy's not a real pisser and that's okay he didn't you know you got to takes all types to do design but if you are you know you have so much more piss than you think it's so much it doesn't it's like if you were to take a dump on the ground you'd look at it and be like Jesus that's terrible I've got a words Dan is ruined synced up this from Dungey I can't hear without thinking of too many females on a submarine threatening World War III once a month when Dan says Sinked Up. Hey, let's sync up after this call.
Starting point is 01:22:01 Okay, well, I hate to spoil it for everyone, but there's two meanings to our friends sync up comedy. And I only have to do this because he was the first person I ever heard invoked the idea of timing up your end of your jerk off with the male in the video you're watching. Oh, I didn't know that. It's yeah. Disgusting. It's so gross. Give a shot this weekend. You'll like it.
Starting point is 01:22:31 As it were, every single time I plug my phone in and Apple asked me, I'm like, fuck, it's gross. Just imagine him. I don't like it. I did not know that. Multiple ways. Even more ruined. I've got Anchor Word from Drop Beth.
Starting point is 01:22:52 Um, this is not, you should know. Right, who had the person with the biggest problem with this list. Uh, this is not jinx, you owe me a Coke. Coke. It's, uh, jinks as in high jinks. Is she trying to mess with us? Because I feel like high jinks is a word. It's two. It is nice.
Starting point is 01:23:17 Isn't it just H-I? J-I? I don't. That's what I thought it was. It says it was originally spelled high jinks, but I've never, seen that word. It's a high h-ig-h space jinks. I've never written it that way. An exceptional
Starting point is 01:23:33 amount of jinks? Jinks feels super Yeah, because I don't think jinks, I think, yeah. It says the word jink means to make quick evasive movement or to dodge about. Like juk. Jinked you. Right. Like if you said a draft jinker, I feel like that would
Starting point is 01:23:52 feel different than Let me see, I'll go. Ooh, by the way, this is from Rick the cop. The John Wayne Bobbitt porno. I think we had mistitled it previously. It was actually called, because it was directed by Ron Jeremy, it was called Franken penis. They could have done better.
Starting point is 01:24:18 Because they had to sew a new one on, like they've created a monster. He said, my friend Jeffrey got a copy of it. We skipped Wednesday night church to go to go his house and watch it. Super creepy. His dick looked insane. In fact, that's the mental image that comes up when I hear Blake reading the description of Harvey Weinstein's penis, which is a haunting tale for sure. Coach Brent, our football coach friend, we were talking Catapult the other day. Can I bring up one thing before you get to this just because I want to follow up on that porno? I have one thought on that, is that oddly enough, the only other time, well, I guess
Starting point is 01:24:55 two times I've been asked by a male to watch a porno. Because this guy had him and his buddy. One was my bachelor party when a guy put in a porno. And I was like, no, I'm not. I don't feel that. The other was my RA in college. I'm a freshman and called me and my roommate down to show us this porno he had. It was Ron Jeremy.
Starting point is 01:25:23 And he was sitting on a swing. and he could service himself because his weiner was so big and I guess he was flexible enough to. And then our RA was asking, like now that I'm looking back, was he kind of trying to open the door for where one of me or my roommate interested in him?
Starting point is 01:25:42 Because my RA like showed us this and said, look at it, isn't that crazy stuff? We're like, yeah, whoa, that is crazy stuff. And then we, you know, end up leaving. But now that, boy, this is, like a memory, repressed memory all coming flooding back. That guy's a creep.
Starting point is 01:26:01 You wish to take an advantage? Yeah, I could have scored. Go ahead, Jake, sorry. Well, Brent just told us, Blake saw a six-year-old wearing a catap at a soccer game the other day or a basketball game, which is like a data, biometric sports performance tracking thing. Brent says he's a high school coach.
Starting point is 01:26:21 They use him for 40 times, which I guess, right? Yeah. Not going to help me out at all as I'm hoping, you know, we can cheat that thing by a 10th or two. I always wondered how much of that is natural. Like how much, well, as a slow guy.
Starting point is 01:26:40 You're 40? Just like how? 99% natural. Okay, yeah, because like, it's so hard, dude. I was just slow when I was young and then there's just no getting around that. You can lose weight, you can get stronger,
Starting point is 01:26:52 you can do a lot, you can change a lot in your life, but. can't coach teach speed uh our buddy tim and roiton honduras you may remember he was shot uh in a robbery but we were talking about like uh why don't they have beef dave in uh in like brisket why can't i just why don't why don't they have better options in other places like american food why would it would just kill in other places he said um you know some of this is obvious he lives in Honduras. He said
Starting point is 01:27:25 tourism has created a demand for beef, but these people have gone their whole life without having cattle. Younger generations That's interesting to me, though, even when you say tourism has created the demand. So I'm on vacation. I'm going
Starting point is 01:27:41 to this land to see how do they live. And I'm in this land seeing how, oh, you live on, you eat rice, you eat, wait, where's the guy, where's my burger? I want a burger. So then they're going to bring in That's silly to me
Starting point is 01:27:56 And so once they do that Then they start bringing it in He says younger generations of Hondurans and islanders Are obsessed with beef Because they grew up on TV and cell phones So all they see are restaurant commercials He says on the island we have a Wendy's Burger King Papa John's Taco Bell
Starting point is 01:28:13 They have all their brisket He runs a restaurant in Roatan Honduras And this is he says why it's worked He says it's super popular because we're doing what you guys are talking about. We went to a country that isn't about cow and we do cow. And people love it. Dan perked up when you said Taco Bell.
Starting point is 01:28:33 Mm-hmm. I did indeed. They're about to get a run. I was going to say, you get the punch card this week. I have a couple of gummy thoughts, and these gummy thoughts are brought to us by early bird CBD. Early bird CBD. Let's get some of their copy points up.
Starting point is 01:28:53 Before, I don't have the website right in front of me, but it's two and a half milligrams of THC. THC is that stuff that triggers the drug test. So if you get drug tested at work, number one, sorry you have that kind of a job, but number two, you can't, don't do early bird CBD. The reason it's good, the reason we endorse it, is because it has that little THC in it as well.
Starting point is 01:29:15 Just kind of enough to take the edge off after a long day of dealing with Blake. What is the website and all that? The particulars, like don't we have a new promo code? Well, we're going to earlybirdcbd.com. DZ20 is the promo code. They've also got the drops if you want to get yourself some THD drops for drinks. Those are excellent for pool side.
Starting point is 01:29:39 And some of the laws, they've changed. They continue to change. But early bird, you're good. You're good to go. So earlybirdcbd.cbd.com promo code DZ20 for your, gummy thoughts. Ryan sends one. Ryan Conway, he credits his wife for his lady, says,
Starting point is 01:29:59 my lady came up with this. Mouse-flavored cat food. Okay. Yeah. Unfortunately, Jake's Mike in Hawaii didn't even catch, yes, he loved it. He was laughing, but the gain or something didn't allow you to hear that, Ryan. That's very good. Great, great.
Starting point is 01:30:25 I saw that, and I thought this is. is one of the best I've ever seen. And I'll tell you what, I've seen a lot of gummy thoughts. I have a couple of the beach. Couple of my own. I have, why is it good for you to sit in a sauna? Oh, I was thinking this in the sauna the other day. When I was, I wrote this note right next to you.
Starting point is 01:30:52 Am I allowed to lip sync gold digger? Yeah. Why does Jake tell me I should sit in the sauna? And I'm dying in here. And then I'm in my garage and they're like, don't be in the garage for too long. It's too hot. My garage feels like a sauna. Gets no real ventilation in there.
Starting point is 01:31:17 Well, the first thing is, as I've told you before, you need to turn your car off. The second thing is I think that's why I was tired. Probably. Probably. And it is a good thought, right? But I think probably the idea is that if you're in a sauna, you have an idea of how long you're in there. There's a door.
Starting point is 01:31:34 There's other people. Your garage, you're much more likely to just kind of forget, right? Like you're in there working on your car, running the riding lawnmower despite it not moving or something. And you just forget that you've been in there for a really long time. Like a sauna, the intention is to be hot. I guess the assumption is you would be like,
Starting point is 01:31:53 fuck I'm hot. I got to get out of here. But yeah, I mean, you could technically. Listen, dude, there's a reason people who work outside are healthy, and it's not just physical activity. Sweating is a big part of it. Big part of it.
Starting point is 01:32:05 Huh. And I'm in traffic the other day. And I had a, is a weird conflicting, I don't know how to feel. And I thought, this is a gummy thought. Because I'm behind a Hummer, and it said it's an EV. Hmm. Hummers make an EV? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:32:30 So I'm behind a Hummer. So I'm starting to feel one way. And then I see it's an electric vehicle. That's right. Then I was like, huh. What do I do I'm not? Now I don't protest the Hummer? What are we?
Starting point is 01:32:47 Good move, Hummer. I'm not sure. Great move. Yeah. You've really twisted our heads on this one. Like was there some V for Fendetta a mask guy fox mask guy walking up with a Molotov cocktail he's like this thing is quiet suspiciously quiet wait like it's an EV yeah and they just tuck tail and run home dude i remember
Starting point is 01:33:11 the era of the hummer so well like when they first launch what a cultural moment yeah damn everybody was fired up uh i have a gummy thought for me um so ai is going to take over the world right it's getting smarter it's going to take our jobs A part of AI is it's like learning based off of our use of it. Right? It's neural net reinforcement learning, what have you. It's getting smarter the more we use it. If only the smart people are using it now, when it hits consumer base and it frankly hits
Starting point is 01:33:52 our parents, will it get dumber? Well, first of all, you're way too late on the parents thing. Isn't there a South Park episode about this? I don't know. I'm pretty sure Randy gets in on chat GPT. And I'm dealing with a little bit of it here right now. Yes, I believe I did see that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:11 Very helpful in some regards. Like his wife is jealous that he's... Yeah. And his relationship with Chat GPT. Because Chat GPT is like, hey, that's a great idea, Randy. I really think you should do that. blah, blah, blah, blah. Okay.
Starting point is 01:34:26 The problem, Blake, is that... This supports me. Again, this again is a Brunit question, but the problem is it talks to you how it thinks, like, it's not going to talk to you like you're super smart if you're not. Like, so it conveys the information to you in a way that, like, if you're not, it's not going to give you words you don't know. Mine talks to me like an asshole because it thinks that's how I am and it's like, ugh, what is this? I don't see the problem there. But no, I'm saying like if all of these intelligent people are coding apps and working on these projects and then my mom asks it to sort this photo album or give me the best recipe for this or how do I unlock level 100 on Candy Crush.
Starting point is 01:35:10 I'm just saying whenever dumber people get more access to it and ask her dumber stuff, will it bring it down a little bit? It gets lazy. It starts smoking weed all the time and complaining about Mexican GPT taking its job or something. I have a movie trope I have to do because this has been making me laugh from Omar. When the protagonist is trying to get somewhere he feels safe, usually they're home. They walk into their bedroom or an office and there's someone they weren't expecting already waiting there for them. Usually the other person's made themselves comfortable, look through some pictures on the wall, reading one of their books.
Starting point is 01:35:49 They start talking to the protagonist without even looking at them, just assuming it was them coming in. It doesn't really come up how long they've been there, got inside. I'm here to report. I've never walked into my house and seen someone I wasn't expecting sitting on my couch. Ever.
Starting point is 01:36:07 Right. How do they get in? This doesn't just happen in like Robocop or you're about to die. It could be like a romance comedy and you're like, oh, Jill's here. Oh, hi, Mark. And they're never, yes, they don't react in the way that you would like, well,
Starting point is 01:36:25 how'd you get in? What do you mean? Why didn't you just wait in the driveway? Like, why? I've got the app. Like, what do you do? Like, yeah, you would be freaked out if you walked in and there's somebody in your house. Like, what if I'm just sitting there when you get back? I'm just, they don't make those movies in Texas, folks.
Starting point is 01:36:42 Oh, hey. Oh, that's true. That's true. Anyone else? Because I have an ender. Ooh, ender. Ender. I'm calling for an ender.
Starting point is 01:36:54 This one is from Brad. who says, greeting smash push. Smash push. You know what I'm saying. I have a follow up to Tyson's email from Monday. It was about how closely D.F. Mike's beautiful a cappella Brandon Aubrey theme song gels with the Bluey intro. He says, see attached MP3 and revisit opinions from earlier in the week.
Starting point is 01:37:22 Oh, no. Because he says, basically, he's intimating that you guys. Pippooed this, right? You said, no, there's nothing there. So he put this together, Bluey slash Brandon Aubrey. From the pitch to the grid are. He's number one, you know.
Starting point is 01:37:48 It's already off. It's not even close. It's a Brandon Aubrey show. Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na. Yeah, my opinion changes zero. Again, I would stop emailing if I were this guy. Because at some point, it's just going to become obvious. Have you ever heard a song?
Starting point is 01:38:32 Yeah, sometimes on the fourth beat and it drops out. Okay, yeah. It's just a common timing. It's just a common timing. You're right. It is similar, but it's similar to a lot of songs. These are both in four, four. Yeah, it's
Starting point is 01:38:46 I appreciate the email I'm sorry about Jake I thought it was great I thought you still think he's wrong I do but I'm not going to be an asshole We could literally find We could literally find 200 more songs Oh yes
Starting point is 01:39:00 All right Rhythm arrangement Yeah I think of your email I thought it was a capital email I thought it was wonderful Thank you Brad And he said his leader
Starting point is 01:39:12 Shout out to my leader Sarah Hezbollah's Milk Rockets Are you back in? The Dums of Dumso Why didn't we talk about our golf trip That's coming?
Starting point is 01:39:26 The golf trip, yes, yes All right, listen, fellas, I'm terribly terribly sorry I can't go. You can't go. You're kidding. You kicked off the whole thing. I know I did.
Starting point is 01:39:39 I thought Susie was going to leave town. She decided to stay home. What happened? I was too happy at the airport dropout. Oh, my God. Are you serious? I was bouncy. I was dancing.
Starting point is 01:39:51 No, no, no. You got to contain yourself at the drop off. Of course you're happy. Every husband is thrilled to drop their wife off at the airport, but you've got to contain it. And you celebrated the car on the way home. It's Susie. I couldn't contain it.
Starting point is 01:40:03 What are you going to do? Huh? You're f*** up. I'm so sorry. You're listening to The Dumb Zone. So yesterday was Business Wednesday. our business was, thank you, Sean Kernan, by the way, 360 wealth management. If you have wealth and you need a manager,
Starting point is 01:40:29 Sean Kernan is our guy, 360 wealth management. But we, excuse me, a little lunch coming up there. We were out doing a little filming. Jake's like, oh, I want to get away from this. I don't want to have to be a part of this, so we went to Hawaii. But we got up. very early with the roosters, Jake. And we headed to a local field.
Starting point is 01:41:02 It used to be a field. It's still a field, but it's like then there's a stadium around it. Went there with our friend Brandon Aubrey. And our friends from Fairlease. Brandon Aubrey now is in a Fair lease vehicle. Fairlease.org is where you would go. And anyway, he was doing some bits for them. we were doing some stuff that we'll be playing in our commercials
Starting point is 01:41:25 and putting on social media at some point. But what a good dude he is, huh? And he just nice? Like, isn't he? Don't you feel, I guess you know him pretty well, too, Blake, because going on road trips and everything. Like, just as far as, I don't even know about if I would say for a professional athlete. I would kind of, like, say, for a person.
Starting point is 01:41:48 Yeah. He just seems like a really good dude. Yeah. But you do have to add that in, though. And not because, like, on the, it changes the bar, like sports funny or something. You have to add it in because it just makes it that much more incredible, right? Like, the natural inclination of a human being is the less they need people around them for things, the less well they treat people. And everybody's looking to delineate from that as much as they can, right, if you're a good person.
Starting point is 01:42:20 but the less you need people, the less you have to be nice to them. He doesn't need most of the people that he's kind to, and he is. And that's why you have to mention it. It just seems weird to credit someone for like just, he's almost like just normal. Like you're just normally, you know, just act like a, I don't know. He's a nice guy. But anyway, he's hooked up with Fairlease now too. You can as well.
Starting point is 01:42:47 Fairlease.org. I think he has Jen driving. the Range Rover from Fairlease because there was the two baby seats. I don't want to just like, I guess a man can have baby seats in the back of his vehicle as well. I do. But I'm not a man. That's what I mean, a real man. Brandon Aubrey certainly is that.
Starting point is 01:43:06 Fairlease.org certainly is a great place to shop for a vehicle. They had some of their marketing people there were as well because they're with the credit union of Texas. And I guess that's how they can, they kind of cut out the middleman as far as the banking. is concerned. You don't have to go see if you can. They got it all right there. So it's fairlease.org. Join the family that now Brandon Aubrey is a part of.
Starting point is 01:43:33 Do you want to explain some of our adventures yesterday? Go on. Oh, the one where you almost beat up the old man? Sure. I feel like Jake. Maybe because Jake's out of town. And Jake is a, he's now a grounded guy. He's like, you know what, let's just let things roll off our back.
Starting point is 01:43:53 Let's just understand the bigger picture of life. Blake's been tense. Yeah. I know. He's got a lot on his plate. Well, okay, so here's the thing. First... Listen, you know it has to be bad if you're seeing Henry around again.
Starting point is 01:44:11 Yeah. Okay, first, I was explaining to Dan how... Jake, some of our clips get into parts of the Internet where we don't belong. Okay? You don't, our stuff doesn't need to end up in soccer, Twitter, or Instagram. They're not going to like us, and they're going to let us know about it. It breaks containment. And in our case, it's even worse because we're from the ticket, which, while extremely popular,
Starting point is 01:44:38 the best sports talk radio station ever, it's so weird how it existed without, like, you know, it was before things were national. So, like, we had our own shit, like, before everyone. It's hard to explain. But we're like, it's odd because most of our social media followings are comprised of people who know us from this one thing. So when we break contain, it's always weird, right? It's like why the Soroy Twitch Rades work is when they're having some E-girl, be like, what about eggs? It's funny.
Starting point is 01:45:09 Right. Well, we broke Contain not only for our depths in America, but we hit the Belgium algorithm because we, we, We put out the clip of the Belgium coach equating the rescindment of the red card to April Fools. And how we thought, wow, April Fool's Day is a worldwide thing, I guess. That was the point of the clip. What the people from Belgium had a problem with was Dan saying, I don't know which language they speak. That was a great question.
Starting point is 01:45:47 To one, I'm with Dan. Before that, I did not know. None of us knew. No. Did you, Jake? I would assume that there's something called Belgian. And if it's not Belgian, German. All right. Yeah. We're not the only ones.
Starting point is 01:46:00 But I don't know that for sure. Okay. This post is... Belgian is kind of a chalk. Like, that's easy, right? I mean, it's not like I knew shit. I just said, but so is that what it is? French.
Starting point is 01:46:10 I've come to learn from rude Belgian people. The post is blowing up. And I'm looking at comments of just people telling us we're idiots and October. typical Americans, ignorance must be bliss, ha, ha, ha. And my personal favorite, which you know pisses me off, is when people say, guess that's why they call it the dumb zone. I don't know why you're pit. It just aggravates me that they don't get it.
Starting point is 01:46:37 What I was telling Blake yesterday is that this is some people on Twitter purposely put out, like say something erroneously so that they will get all the comments correcting them, hence the engagement. like this should be your dream. You get to now tell Julie about all the imps we're getting and tell our advertisers. That's why I tell you sometimes that the numbers can be misleading and don't mean as much as you think they do.
Starting point is 01:47:07 Well, anyway. Which I'm trying to say to only build up the show, not to pee on the aisle. I'm trying to sell a roofing company in Brussels because I think Qualis would let us and just really, But why does Blake get mad? Like, who cares? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:47:23 And then he wants to answer them and stuff. Well, he's like, I'm going to tell them. Because that's what they say if you respond to comments in the first hour, then it's spread. Like, I'm trying to play the social media game and I don't like it. So anyway. You want me to just start, like, ethering people and wrecking our shit? I thought it might be nice if we all traded weeks with the comments and just see what we
Starting point is 01:47:47 could do. I would love to see Dan our. you with people online. Even, and maybe it's worse now without booze, I would cost us sponsors if you gave me that account. I swear, you know, we've already lost, we lost one before for editing stuff together or whatever. That's not good. It needs to be you. It doesn't matter if it's people spread and see it.
Starting point is 01:48:08 Now, I thought it was, I don't know what the clip was, but Dan did say something like, are they invading or is this April Fool? And I thought that was. No, that didn't make it. That wasn't in there. That was cut. Anyway, I say all that to say, I was already a little bit worked up showing Dan and whatever. And even Brandon, hey, which language does Belgium speak?
Starting point is 01:48:31 Didn't know. It's not just us. I was already worked up. So here we are in this massive parking lot of this stadium. And it had a light to let people out after football games. Most of the time, it's useless. It stays red. But we were worried that when we pulled the cars up to the light, it would trigger.
Starting point is 01:48:49 it, and now cross traffic is having to stop for us who's not going to drive out onto the road. All of our attention was faced towards the road and worried about that. So we have T.C.'s car here, Brandon's car here to do the filming, and we're blocking the exit of the parking lot going out onto the main roads, which is not a big deal because we are the only ones in this parking lot until this car pulls up behind. And again, I missed this part because we're worried about the road. This guy gets out of his car. to yell at us for blocking traffic. Traffic.
Starting point is 01:49:25 Okay? Traffic. So I look at the empty parking lot. I see the five car links that he could have just pulled around and gone. And he says, y'all need to move. You're blocking traffic. And I snap and I just yell at him. Go around.
Starting point is 01:49:42 Because that's what a normal human being would have done. Were we rolling? No. He, well, maybe TC was. He snaps back that he's got a student driver in there, and he's not going to have her break the law. Oh, my God. That is, I am floored. Just think of the student drivers.
Starting point is 01:50:07 Yeah, and so I think I barked out. The president that she could set. You fast forward 10 years, and she's stolen a bus, like in speed, and she's got a raft with explosives. This was silly, but I did bark at him. Like, she's going to come across scenarios. like this in her life or something. But I just... Very good, very good.
Starting point is 01:50:26 I went off. You're going to have to learn to deal with something. And I wish he would have come back with something because I was ready to say, and are you going to have her solve this problem with getting out of your car and yelling at people? I was ready to fight. Anyway, he got back in. I kept yelling at him and they went about their day. But I was not...
Starting point is 01:50:42 Well, he got back in because I kind of stepped in and was like, so now you've stepped back and there's a big picture thought, right? How much, what's the big thing here? We had, I had talked, I had talked to a lot of people trying to secure a field, dude. I know that you do a lot without telling me, and I appreciate that. And I know that you think I don't do anything. That's not true. I'm just glad this worked over there, too.
Starting point is 01:51:13 But it was a while to finally got a guy, and he agreed, like, to find a local football field and the athletic director to agree that we could drive a fair-leash vehicle onto that field, it's not as easy as you might think. Even when you're using a pretty famous person's name behind you, which I was liberally. You think I was saying it's the dumb zone that wants to use this field? No. So, you know, and I know he let us use that.
Starting point is 01:51:44 It's the park that's where their offices are. Here's a guy who clearly works for the school district. I think. Do drivers at in school anymore or is it just out of school? Well, yeah. My kid took it out. It doesn't have to be a teacher. It's contract work, and a lot of times the teachers pick it up.
Starting point is 01:52:01 Anyway, I just thought, you know what, would also be really easy for who was, Parker? Parker. Parker had his car. Parker, T.C.'s buddy was part of this bit. and all Parker had to do is like move, they go, and then Parker can get back. It wasn't going to take more than two seconds. You know, it would also take two seconds for the kid to get around, but both people. This is kind of the, if you're in a staring contest, about the last $500 on a contract demand.
Starting point is 01:52:32 Like, are you telling me you can't afford debt? Are you telling me you can't afford? Okay. We could all, we can all take the 20 seconds here. Again, and really, the longer he's back there behind her yelling is the longer that we can't continue recording our Brandon Aubrey bit. So what's the quickest way around here? Parker left.
Starting point is 01:52:52 The guy, they went. And then as the guy's driving by, his windows closed. But we got this guy over here like, you happy now, bro? Okay. Are you good? Are you satisfied? Like, he's continuing the thing. Because no one backed me up.
Starting point is 01:53:10 I was walking out there on a limb and nobody, y'all just moved the cars. No one had my back. It was fine. I needed Mid-Cities, Jake, with me. I walked up, I said, yes, sir, yes, excuse me. Sorry, sir, yes, as soon as we can. We're sorry for blocking this traffic. Clearly, you're right.
Starting point is 01:53:25 We're causing mass mayheming. You know, I can't believe that the police aren't here yet and the choppers aren't here. Like, thank you for not. One of the best things about rehab for me was honestly just learning. Sometimes you just have to let morons tell you what to do to get by. Like, you're just going to have to bend the need of dummies. and greased the skids. And I would also reiterate what I said about Brandon earlier.
Starting point is 01:53:48 We needed this. We needed these people. We were on our knees. You know, we can't complain then, right? But I also, at the same time, while Dan is fully right, I was getting a little worried that I'd lost my old Blake. You know? And this is fucking, I like, we're reporting to camp in the best shape of our life right now.
Starting point is 01:54:06 Brandon was on Blake's side. Yeah. Oh, of course, dude. He's an NFL player. He's a dog. He's not taking, yeah. This is what I need. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:54:14 We're losing. me we can't lose him too well you rest us you're fine we're fine there all right let's do the news um before we do the news or just kind of along with it i will tell you uh my wife pointed out before she left uh thank you plane uh she landed and she's already texting me about it you get that like the uh thanks hey land yeah all right um Oh, I guess I'll close this flight tracker window now. It's like, I assume it's going to be fine. And if it's not, I will probably read about it.
Starting point is 01:54:56 But she was like chicken Florentine, the dill-crusted chicken and cheddar broccoli grits. Yes. And the parmesan cream shrimp and zucchini noodles. Those were her favorites on our recent order from Factor Meals. And I said, I can give you some Parmesan cream. shrimp and she's like, look, no time for this right now. Yeah, what about a promo code at Factor Meals? Factor Meals.com slash DumbZone 50 off.
Starting point is 01:55:32 We'll get you 50% off and free daily greens per box with new subscriptions only. It's great. Factor Meals. Fantastic. I know you get them all the time, right? Fresh, never first. I am. Yeah, the easy thing, again, just to tell you, you don't have to cook.
Starting point is 01:55:50 Like, we've got meal prep kits. Those are fine. These are just two, three minutes in the microwave. You've got a great meal. Portions are good. Vegetables are good. FactoryMeals.com slash Dumbzone 50. Off.
Starting point is 01:56:06 All right. Here's Jay with the Dumb Zone News. Well, boys, it'll be day one. of the family actually just being here for the end of the show sitting right here we're going to go and press all the way on a everybody's up early today yeah a little earlier than they were before a 13 year old boy 836 teacher student sex come on here we go we'll do it if we have to you know we're going to do all the tame stories now yeah oh draft a boy no way no way uh but we'll start with this one though although
Starting point is 01:56:46 the age is not included in this story. I swear I saw 13 and another write-up on this, but a child in Houston was struck by lightning, lived. Okay. Now, what was this child doing? Well, he was not even outside. He was inside. Blake, he was playing video games on his computer. What? Got to have a search protector. Through the wires. The bolt hit a nearby tree, traveled into the house directly into the teen's abdomen through a metal part of
Starting point is 01:57:16 of his desk that was touching his skin. So one of probably his nice high-tech gaming desks. A little fatty. A little stand-up desk. You said it. A little gut hanging over the desk. He sits there playing video games all day. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:57:33 13-year-old Vlad Skuridan. You don't meet a lot of eighth grade Vlad's anymore. Now is he like ever? I don't know. Is it like Peter Parker? Wasn't he like radioactive but he was also touching a spider and he became Spider-Man.
Starting point is 01:57:50 Is he like awesome at video games now? Like can he pick up any? Or assembling furniture. That would be less cool, I guess. Yeah, like desks. That's what you mean? Yeah. We definitely knew this was coming.
Starting point is 01:58:08 Economists are saying that the economic impact of the World Cup and DFW in Houston is coming up a little short. What was the initial value, like a billion dollars? Oh, no, it was up at like close to three, and they say it'll be between one and a half and two in both regions, that it was expected to be almost double that in both. But what the people who got it done or push to get it here tout is that, yeah, but look, all these other things got finished because it was coming.
Starting point is 01:58:44 So that's kind of like when you do the tax evapement thing, you're like, yeah, but if we're like, well, I don't know that we had to do that for that to happen. They're like, yeah, but we did and it did. So if your wife really never cleans up the house or anything, but then finally her mom's going to visit, so then she cleaned. And you're like, yeah, but see, I clean. Well, yeah, but it took your mom was going to visit for you. So they're just saying we got a lot of stuff done because we didn't want to be embarrassed to not have it done when company came? Basically.
Starting point is 01:59:15 Yeah. Because at the airport today, there's still some construction out there that they didn't totally get done. There's a lot going out at the airport. Dude, I'm sure somebody will figure this out, but I legitimately want to know what happened with that goddamn wall. Like, what are we doing? We made this huge deal out of this. Oh, the whale wall. Yeah, you and I walked over there and looked at it and, like, made a joke out of it.
Starting point is 01:59:36 And, you know, like, I guess we're just early. Yeah, we filmed that well before the World Cup. Yeah, I thought they were going to finish it. They ended up just paying over 90% of it and then saying that cease and desist. Really weird. Also, numbers on a lot of the arrests out at Dallas Stadium. 46 arrests across eight games. That doesn't even seem like a lot to me.
Starting point is 02:00:02 I thought that's all for drones. No. Or these are non-dron arrests. Trademark counterfeiting. Oh. Criminal trespass. solicitation for scalping. Okay, so it's all protecting
Starting point is 02:00:16 Big FIFA anyway. It's not... Yeah. It seems like it. You weren't going potty on the Shannon Stone statue. Twice in one week. We referenced this in the early bird spot, but the laws they continue to change regarding THC in Texas. I don't know what any of this means, although I see it when I go by my vapes.
Starting point is 02:00:41 All you should. know is that it's all up and up and it's not based on what politician has what family member in what other industry that could be affected by bingo t hc you just just it's all it's the greatest good for the greatest amount of people that's how they make their decisions and in the meantime the people that are excluded from that uh those some completely objective decisions they have to find ways to like move the target so they banned something called t hc a but t hc you HCP is the alternative that is now you can still get it. I went to go buy a VAPA.
Starting point is 02:01:20 I was going to say over here, here, wherever I am the other day. Pot is not legal in Hawaii. And they have medical. But the guy had a bunch of legal weed that he couldn't sell. He's like, I still have all this stuff. So they do the same stuff there where it's like, or here. The law has changed. He's like, well, they change this one.
Starting point is 02:01:42 This stuff has too much in it so I can't sell it. It was interesting. It was different than the last time I went to a vape shop in a different state, which was Oklahoma and Broken Bow when I walked in, and the entire left side of the wall was just fleshlights and pocket pussies. Which I'd never seen before. Aren't those both the same thing? Is one of them more like over you?
Starting point is 02:02:07 I can confess. I've never. It's like Kleenex. Okay. Xerox, things of this nature. So when he said, I can't sell these, did you say, well, can you give them away? And can I drop this $20 bill on the floor? And oh, my gosh, I didn't. No, I probably, you know, I'm fine.
Starting point is 02:02:33 I'm fine. Another day, another couple cases of explosive watery diarrhea in DFW. I'm not coming home until you guys figure this out. working on it. I saw Dallas, Texas TV was posted about it. We had like two more confirmed cases of like this specific diarrhea virus. Well, I had one that was been sent to me literally a million times. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:02:57 Yeah, is it about Taco Bell? It was alleging that Taco Bell might be recalling some of their whatever. And I feel good about the guac. You know, I'm not a guac guy. Yeah. But certainly do love the lettuce on the CrunchRap Supreme. Did I have one yesterday? I did.
Starting point is 02:03:16 That's a big part of that, too, the lettuce, especially for you. I have, I'm not qualified to say this because I have an Al Michaels like take on vegetables, but I do eat them. I just don't like them. I actually like the ones in Factor, and that kind of taught me how to make them. But I don't, hold on, did my audio cut out there? No. Are we good?
Starting point is 02:03:41 Okay. I don't eat fast food vegetables no matter what. So like if I go to a nice restaurant, I might eat them. No. Wait, what did you say? Let us know. No. No, no, no, no, no.
Starting point is 02:03:56 That's just not, if it's cooked, if it's like prepared, but just throwing grass on my food, old grass is disgusting. So you deserve whatever Iri you get for me and lettuce from Taco Bell. Hold on. I sneezed on my shirt. Keep going. Oh, boy. Well, I mean, you want to keep going, but you also want him to hear the show, you know? The speaker.
Starting point is 02:04:21 Okay, but he can't interact. I'll be back on. How's the weather at home? This guy cannot deal with any road bump, can he? I'm actually asking for real. We got an email about the wet bulb. It is oppressively hot. For real?
Starting point is 02:04:41 It's thick. It's disgusting. Yeah, it sucks. You're in the shade, you're dying. How's the weather there? You know, it's interesting. It does do the rain every 30, 40 minutes thing, and it rains for five minutes, and that's it.
Starting point is 02:05:01 And we had a little bit of rain yesterday. Yesterday was the first day that we'd gone, really to, like, the interior of the island, which is disorientingly beautiful. Like, everything is so big. Everything's just on sterile. Like it literally is. Leafs.
Starting point is 02:05:20 Yeah. Leaf just huge. Every tree you're like, they're like, hey, that's actually, it doesn't look like it because of where we are, but that's a thousand feet tall. Everything is just huge. And it is the scenes that you remember from Jurassic Park. So we got a little bit of rain yesterday. Like you saw the actual field where dinosaurs are running into it. Like you saw that same field. Saw the same field.
Starting point is 02:05:43 And I'll tell you guys more about this when I'm home. but the tour guide on the tour, this boat tour we were on, her dad was an extra who got eaten. She's from Hawaii. So she's like, this is the field. Do you remember this field? I'm like, yeah, where they're running. She's like, my dad got eaten out there.
Starting point is 02:05:59 It's incredible. So it used to be a field? Yeah. And currently. Used to be a field. Currently a field. No, but the weather is a story on like all the local channels. I didn't know what was going on.
Starting point is 02:06:15 Dig World opens this weekend. I know we've talked about it, but I don't know if Blake planned on going on a grand opening weekend, just get him in early. Dude Perfect's Dig Park. Will you ever go there? No, I won't. I'm not going to pick Peppa Pigland or Dig World or anything. I'm going to give Brooks that for his birthday. You know, you kind of already set me behind eight ball when you gave him the Dude Perfect book, which I can't get it.
Starting point is 02:06:43 That's such an asshole move. It really, really is. Like it's like we laugh about it But that's just not Cool A drum set for Christmas I'd much rather have the drum set Because like I can't hide my disdain for dude perfect
Starting point is 02:06:56 So now he wants to read Dude Perfect Because he knows I won't read it And that it makes me mad Our final story here And yes I did kind of wait until The daughter left the room for this one 19 year old man arrested in Irving He's a
Starting point is 02:07:16 arrested for secretly filming in public restrooms, okay? Okay. When they got him, they found over 300 photos. This is just on one device. And some of them were bathrooms or Walmart in Dallas, but it also says a changing room at a T.J. Max. And it just got me thinking, like, are we almost done with changing rooms?
Starting point is 02:07:42 You probably thought I was going to say T.J. Max, but that's got the, No, I thought we were going to kick around which stores you would want to put a camera in, and T.J. Max would rank very low. It would rank very low if you're going for conventional attractiveness. Sure. If you're looking for layaway hot. It's above Ross, below Coles.
Starting point is 02:08:03 That's fair. But do you think it's weird? I mean, obviously, you've got to try your clothes on, but so much of shopping is done online that it's clear that trying the clothes on is not necessarily precluding people from shopping, right? Like, when's the last time you went into a place and were like, I'm going to take my pants off in here and put this other pair on? Maybe even, like, just get naked in this little closet.
Starting point is 02:08:27 The last time I put on 15 pounds and needed to find my new pants size. That's tough. Those mirrors are not forgiving. I don't feel like either. But my point is just this feels anachronistic. Like, I'm not victim blaming, but. Don't change in a changing room? I guess it's because we're dudes.
Starting point is 02:08:46 And our clothes just fit. And we don't care if they don't. Chris, do you still go in changing rooms a lot? Like, you go to the, you're at whatever. Do you go in and try on clothes? Okay. You've been to Irving T.J. Max lately? All right.
Starting point is 02:09:06 Anyway, there's your news. You're giving it to me. The Dumbstone News. Like and subscribe. That was a good news. Viewer Mail birthday is going to be brought to us by Pancho Outdoors. I brought my Pancho, one of them down here. Use those two O's consecutively in PanchoOutdoors.com.
Starting point is 02:09:35 They had told us, I guess, said something wrong. It's probably me. I think I said they have the SPF protection in the shirts. It's UPF. So I sent us a nice little email just, hey, make sure they get that right. So I was, hey, I don't know why they, why did they call it the dumb zone, you know? So I actually searched online and I was like, well, what is the difference? I don't know the difference.
Starting point is 02:10:03 Turns out UPF much better. Come on, you were slighting them PF? Yeah. I messed up on the P.F. So poncho outdoors.com slash dumb zone. You get $10 off your first order. Then these shirts, I did not mess this up. You could wear them outside, like doing physical activity and stuff.
Starting point is 02:10:25 And then you can wear them like to a thing where they're like, hey, dress up for this. Make sure you look a little nice. You could wear that same shirt to both things and nowhere where you look out of place. That's how great the poncho shirts are. Color options, pattern options, good for fishing, hunting, pretending like you fish and hunt and running for office. Yeah, so if you want to write like an email trying to get someone to send you their personal information, wear a poncho shirt. Right. I'm with Texas Wildlife. Poncho outdoors.com slash dumbzone.
Starting point is 02:10:58 Get a closet full like me. Poncho outdoors.com slash dump zone. All right. Viewer mail. Hi, birthday. Thank you. Let me make sure none rolled in during the program because I certainly would hate to miss those. Oh, they did.
Starting point is 02:11:22 All right. Well, let's hit him up. We have dear Uncle Hottie, my husband Andy, wish him a happy Dirk birthday. He is a great dude and has an above-average knowledge of world geography. His leaders are Dr. Calvorkian, Julie Dobler Radar, and closeted musculoskeletal Blake. For his birthday, he wants Dan to share the remaining pages of his Costco notes that Jake and Blake. We're too scared to let him read. Pund on fourth and inches.
Starting point is 02:11:56 This is from Shannon, a lady named Shannon. P.S., you all recently mentioned that you believe you have an audience of above-average height. I would reiterate that theory and claim the title of the tallest combined height D.F. couple. So this is the bar she is putting at the tallest, and if anybody can beat this. my husband and I have a combined height of 12 feet 10 inches damn Jesus Pete is he one of those bartenders the seven foot bartenders
Starting point is 02:12:29 I'll leave our individual heights shrouded a mystery in hopes that a future reveal will be enough to win America's next top angelo it's good bit wow I'm going to think about this nonstop like because what's most interesting you could you could honestly make the case that 50-50 is your point of like, oh, wow, you're both 6'5.
Starting point is 02:12:51 But at the same time, 8, 5 and 4.5. Okay, I wasn't going that way with it. Well, you know. Yeah, like you ever seen a picture of Shaq with anyone? Right. Like, they all look like that. That's a good one. This one is addressed to Blake.
Starting point is 02:13:14 Blake, sorry you couldn't make golf this past Monday. Yeah. Anyway, can you have Dan read this birthday wish? Mm-hmm. Dan, I would like to wish a happy 38th birthday to my son. DZ member 69 Nice, 69 Nice, Jeff Jr. Oh, God damn it. Wants me to read this tomorrow.
Starting point is 02:13:37 Okay. I'll put the side. All right. Dump all that. All right. Is it Junior with a G? Thank you, folks. That'd be a good, Jeff.
Starting point is 02:13:50 All right. Tune in tomorrow. Like, sometimes we like to tease something to get you to tune back in tomorrow. And so, wow, I wonder what the end of that email's like, you're wondering. Are we going to do a tease at the end of today's show like we've been doing? Absolutely. Dear leader of the deadly vagina. assassination squad.
Starting point is 02:14:20 Yesterday was the 34th birthday of my French fry F-boy husband, Dummy Grant. Nice. Oh, yeah. I did not wake him up in that special way because I am married to him. I did give him a nice Van Taylor and let him moose me up. Oh. His leaders are Blake's Easter sex toy coupon. Listen, take a weekend off.
Starting point is 02:14:46 Kray Trays and Homlanders shared breastfeeding YouTube playlist and Sororys Aupéer Still just the right amount of Ryan From Asta Which is pasta without the P P.S. We'd love to hear Blake's thoughts on NCAA 27 in the micro-transactions
Starting point is 02:15:08 Rewind. We're so in the pocket Serving needs. Dear Uncle Gash, Millionaire. I'd like to wish my buddy. That's great. Andy a happy birthday.
Starting point is 02:15:21 His leaders are Freddie Adieu, Mayor Greg Oster Tag, David Doyle, Brian Boddicker. And my leader is Michael Gallup's bounced back year. Yeah, you, you're wrong ones, you know? There's another one for Friday.
Starting point is 02:15:46 He had a thousand yards. You guys never seem to remember that that actually happened. And... He sucks. Are we allowed to read really dirty words that are in the name title? Well, I think you're allowed to read them. What you should do is not cut them off and send him to Tito's vodka,
Starting point is 02:16:07 if you're going to be, like, specific about it. All right. Well, just the alert. Fast forward if you don't like them. Dear Grand Dragon of the Ku-Cunt Clam. See, that's why it's... The World Cup. Yeah
Starting point is 02:16:26 Today is my 39th birthday More cussing Henry And more Blake first downs That's from Kyle Hey Henry how's that How's that chair Uh oh I guess this is just the three little pigs over here
Starting point is 02:16:40 We just Henry can just sit in your chair He walks in Post on up I guess Yeah you should see how short shorts are Here in this chair Oh God don't move your laptop He's got his balls on your chair Jake
Starting point is 02:16:54 And Travis says, dear Pampor of the Panty Hamster, I'd like to wish a happy day one birthday to my wife's new D-Cup Uptops. I'm currently driving her home as she is the new proud mother of 500 cc's of chesticle pudding. Congratulations. Stay bricked up and cranking hog from Travis, the Dumb Zone's official prisoner correspondent. Have a great weekend, Travis. We're all taking visitors. That is insane, dude. They've made Disney movies about smaller comebacks than that guy being in prison and driving.
Starting point is 02:17:24 Now he's driving his wife home from an implant surgery. Damn. That's the guy who told us about what they do to you in prison whenever they're, yeah, all the razor stuff. And now we're good. I feel like I'll see things I had ideas for and then like someone else got famous on them. Like, you know, YouTube. So is there already like a Larry David episode where like is there a wife contemplating getting a breast? plan and like how big and you you got to like kind of be cool like I mean you know it's up to you it's
Starting point is 02:18:05 really right I I love you for you but I mean if if and she's like well I think it'd make me feel a little more confident if they were you know even a little bigger and I love a confident you I mean that's oh so you're saying you want them bigger no no no I mean I did all I want you to be happy it's I like you would you would want that question and you wouldn't want it simultaneously. Like, because you know, I'm going to fumble this. Somehow I'm going to end up with, she's going to end up this not getting it done at all. Yeah, and also you might get it too right.
Starting point is 02:18:41 And then she's like, actually, I'm pretty out of his league now. So I'm. That's, yeah, there's a fine line there. Yeah. Anyway, that's Vera Mealbertes. Community Mechanical presents on this day in history. This would be a good opportunity to mention community mechanical. They are our HVAC company.
Starting point is 02:19:05 They are awesome. Travis Gafford is our man over there. If Travis's wife listens, maybe they would challenge the 12-foot 10-inch because he's a large man. But I am not familiar with Travis' wife's dimensions. But if you would like to ask him about that, 469-667-6. 7290. You can text him anytime. Call him. CommunityDFW.com. I believe they went out to Mama Clayton's house pretty recently.
Starting point is 02:19:42 They had an issue they needed quickly, huge quickly. Now they were going out of town. Travis had somebody over there that day. Tell them that you're with the dumb zone too. Tell them that you heard about them on the dumb zone. They'll treat you a little extra better. They will, right? Let's just be honest.
Starting point is 02:20:00 That's just one of the benefits you get for being an advertiser here. The dumb zone, it just means more. And so I've heard some people back at home putting in wet bulbs in their home and then leaving if it gets hot. You don't have to do that. You can just go to communitydfw.com. They'll actually just fix your AC for you. What's a wet bulb? Well, it's like a device, apparently.
Starting point is 02:20:22 I can read you this guy's email. Yeah, go ahead. You'd think I would have had it in front of me. I have it almost in front of me. This guy was an Army medic. And he says that it's not as complex as Blake makes it sound. I was reading from here. Well, he's not taking a shot at you.
Starting point is 02:20:44 Boy, you do need to chill out. They're not attention around here. He said, real pissed about those micro-transactions. Small container on a tripod with two thermometers. One is exposed. One is covered in wet gauze. You use readings from both to come up. up with a wet bulb index and then training length and intensity is advised or revised
Starting point is 02:21:05 rather based on that so they've been doing in the army forever cole beasley now this sounds like new woke army yeah that's why we're not winning this wars man this guy says he hadn't been in in 20 years but sure thank you brandon today is Thursday july 9th on this day in 1937 a fire at the 20th century Fox film storage facility 1937 they had a fire there it destroyed most of the silent films from their history
Starting point is 02:21:43 so that's I guess a loss yeah for history if you wanted a positive spin on the way things work today trademark you know everything is preserved so it's highly unlikely that any art or like important work like that would ever be,
Starting point is 02:22:04 that's never going to happen again. Just don't run for president or do and be him, I guess. I don't know what that means anymore. On this day in the year 2000, at least 12 people died in a soccer stampede. It was Zimbabwe and South Africa in a World Cup qualifier. Some fans were throwing bottles, so police fired tear gas at those, fans, and then there's people started running and stuff and dying.
Starting point is 02:22:38 Not only does the AP say it was only soccer fans, it says it was only in Africa. Yeah, I saw him last year, and he hadn't added that part, but. Yeah. I was thinking about Rich Paul saying, you know, Maasai unlocks the entire continent of Africa. To what? I don't know. I don't know. Kevin Bacon is their lead scout over there?
Starting point is 02:23:03 and he can get any. That movie rocks. We should absolutely review that. Great. The air up there. Oh, my gosh. On this day in the year 2002, it was the day of the Major League Baseball All-Star game. It ends in a tie 7-7 after 11 innings.
Starting point is 02:23:24 Commissioner Bud Seelig, who has a statue, ended up calling the game over after both teams' managers told him they had run out of players. And he said, okay, well, here, hand them these purses, and we'll just be done. Because back in my day, can you imagine Warren Spahn saying, oh, no, I can only go one inning, one inning skip? Got some important games in the second half of the season. What year was this? 2002. Okay, so, I mean, that's long enough ago now to where it's like, this has been going on forever.
Starting point is 02:23:59 By the way, I have a little bit of NCAA news. This is interesting. Dante Moore, who is the quarterback at Oregon, has posted that he's often out of the game if they're going to have micro transactions. So players can just be like, no, take me out of the game. Hashtag, what is it, CFP don't play? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:24:22 Play, don't play. So when you say you can do like something and you can have Barry Sanders on your team? Yeah. Jake said something very quickly, but I want to follow up. on it. Do you remember what you said? No. It was, it was gold. It was, uh, O.J. Simpson. Can you add O.J. Simpson to your team. Can you? Um, no, I doubt it. All proceeds go to the Goldman family. I bet USC era O.J. Simpson would kick
Starting point is 02:24:52 ass. Right. They don't have to give him a knife or anything. You know, you could just play football. On this day in the year 2005, after 11th, Seven years, Corris Field finally has a one-nothing game. Oh, wow. It took 11 years for there to be a one-nothing game. One of those weather. 847 regular season games. That is the longest time ever needed for any big league ballpark to have their first ever one-nothing game.
Starting point is 02:25:32 We remember this day in 2010 when the Rangers traded for pitcher Cliff. Lee. Who was the main guy they traded away? Justin Smoke. Oh. Oh, dang. What did you think? I thought that they had traded a catch, Jorge Alfaro, but that might have been...
Starting point is 02:25:54 Those Phillies? Yeah, and I know Cliff Lee was, you know, Phillies at one point, so I think I'd run those together. And do you like WHLs in today in history? Yeah. 2018 Starbucks announced they would eliminate plastic straws
Starting point is 02:26:20 from all their locations within two years citing environmental threats to oceans Did it turn out to kind of be Bolsh? I think so Not even that out for
Starting point is 02:26:31 It is a WHL but it's also like it's after HL I know but that all was brewing you know I hate those with the intensity
Starting point is 02:26:41 of the sun dude I don't care. You bring me a duck and I'll shove this straw down its throat. I don't care. I'm not drinking
Starting point is 02:26:52 out of wood. Those paper straws are atrocious. Peasant behavior. Today is July 9th, this day in Dumb Zone history. On this day in 2024, Dan was efforting
Starting point is 02:27:07 to find the Bobby Althoff leaked sex video. You should apologize to your to your maker for that. That's horrible. She gives me the creeps. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:27:23 In 2021, Dan said he may have to spend his weekend doing his laundry at the laundromat. I'm assuming this is when Trey broke your washer and dryer. It must be, yeah, summer. We got back. And yeah, I remember the behind Main Street. Yeah, but, and maybe this crosses over with some of his global romantic interest. I remember him becoming quite fond of the clientele at the laundering. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 02:27:49 I don't think I was going to. Oh, yeah. I forgot about that. I got to go do laundry again, honey. It's White's day. And then I'm like, again. I'm like a millionaire in there, too. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:28:04 Oh, you need a quarter? Here. I got you. The king has arrived. I got a whole thing of detergent. Yeah. In 2020. I wonder if they ever wonder what happened to you.
Starting point is 02:28:20 Yeah, he's probably movie star just stopping through. They got their show right now. They're going over the same thing. You remember this? Little laundromat. Spinzo. In 2020. Spin zone is great.
Starting point is 02:28:36 The spin zone. All right. We got the bomb zone, the spin zone. Get Brent. 2020. Get Brent to work. I think we were coming off of the high of, do you remember? Soroy and Corby had a bench press bet that was done in Miami.
Starting point is 02:28:52 Yeah, it was electric. I think the bet was Soroy bet Corby that he couldn't do 10 reps at 135. Your basic plate and plate, right? Yeah, and Corby nailed it. Well, today spawned another bet. Do you remember when Killer raced Corby's kid in the plaza? also a great bit I had a lot of fun with that
Starting point is 02:29:18 So the contest It was Killer They were going to do two different races Van versus Killer And Van versus Soroy And I think Soroy like Pulled his hamstery The Soroy's will curiously
Starting point is 02:29:32 Pull up on you right before the big event But to killer's credit I think he beat Van He did and he showed up in tights Like he had long long Like running tights on under his shorts I was like, that's audacious. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:29:46 And he went for it. Maybe you can train speed. And then finally we had Christopher Eccleston on. From the leftovers? Yeah. The priest? Yeah. Incredible actor, incredible creep.
Starting point is 02:30:02 Creep in real life or he acts the creep? I just, well, I guess both. But I just remember when he was on with us, it felt like we were talking to a very serious person. It was not here to F around. I think that interview cost me 40 bucks because I was confident
Starting point is 02:30:19 I could dial out and I did test it and then for whatever reason calling his cell phone wasn't working so I had to call him on my phone three way in with the ticket studio and get the interview done
Starting point is 02:30:31 there's a guy who just gets it done no doubt just pays the price I mean he'll tell you about it years later yeah but at least he waited a couple years I didn't tell you that day. Fun.
Starting point is 02:30:48 Other birthdays today, we have Trent Green 56. Did he? Was he the quarterback? Oh, yeah. That got injured and that opened the door for Kurt Warner. Yeah, but I feel like Trent Green might have had like a borderline MVP. Like he might have finished top two, maybe one one? Am I high?
Starting point is 02:31:07 I don't think he was ever the MVP, but I think you're high in that regard. two-time Pro Bowl I guess not I just thought he dude It was in Kansas City He had a 4,600 yard season in 2004 Okay that that's an anomaly in 2004 That's insane
Starting point is 02:31:27 Yeah Yeah he loved to leave that year I just remember there was one year Where he was airing at the F out More spare QBs on this day Kelly Holcomb 53 He's on the Browns list right
Starting point is 02:31:40 Probably Damon Heward is 53. Brett Rippin, certainly on the Browns list. 30. Our war games winner is Willie Wilson. He's 71, with a 46.2 war.
Starting point is 02:31:57 Actor Chris Cooper is 75 from American Beauty. Jake, John Tash is 74. Kevin O'Leary is 72. He is Mr. Wonderful on Shark Tank. that guy sucks but maybe he does it for entertainment
Starting point is 02:32:20 Jimmy Smiths is 71 Tom Hanks is 70 wait let me ask a question about Jimmy Smith's really nothing else what do you mean like that show was the biggest thing in the world when I was a kid and it was like getting to watch it was felt like you know it was a big deal but I guess really the same thing kind of applies to Dennis France right like what else Yeah.
Starting point is 02:32:48 Like, look at all those actors and actresses from ER, right? I'm not saying any of them became A-listers, but, I mean, Clooney did. But a lot of them, they got work. What's the last time you saw Jimmy Smiths? I mean, don't undermine his work as Miguel and Dexter. Well, that's good. I didn't know that. That's a good gig.
Starting point is 02:33:10 I just haven't seen him in a while. Kelly McGillis is 69. Of course, she's the lady from the original Top Gun, and people love to put a picture of her today. versus a picture of Tom Cruise today and say, wow. Yeah. I should call my dad. Every year he asks me, you seen her?
Starting point is 02:33:30 What I'd like to think about is I always wonder, because I know my limitations. I know I'm an ogre. But I do know sometimes your people that you dreamed of when you were young, they go down and your stock goes up. Is there ever a... I feel like I'm at the level, I'm maybe even past that level.
Starting point is 02:33:56 I can score Kelly McGillis, no? Well past it. Yeah. Well, well past it. Yeah, maybe for years I've been in this zone. She would show up and see that pool and be like, someone clean this, didn't they? And just that alone.
Starting point is 02:34:12 Probably honestly, like a sandwich could get you a leg up. Who loves sandwiches more than me? Pam Adlon is 60. She is the voice of Bobby in King of the Hill. Mitchell Muso is 34. Yes, we know him as Oliver from Hannah Montana. Or Jeremy in Phineas and Ferb.
Starting point is 02:34:43 We have Amanda Knox, Jake, is 39. Wow. Falsely convicted of murder in Italy. Yeah. In Italy? Fred Savage is 15. from the Wonder Years. Kind of creep me out.
Starting point is 02:35:02 More of a Ben Savage guy. Music birthdays. Isaac Brock is 49. Modest mouse. KT. Dan Estrin is 50. Huba stank. Jake.
Starting point is 02:35:32 Definitely along the lines of the stuff we've been talking about. Someone hitting with the melody of one of them. And I could get it. trying to remember what was their big song oh the reason the reason it yeah that was what i was doing the reason is you oh yeah oh yeah and the reason is you how the oh god found my re he starts just screaming but like the softest whisper scream ever it's not about that that that's yeah okay can't get docked on youtube when you can't understand it's true yeah yeah yeah jake playing audio is going to be great for the not getting
Starting point is 02:36:13 YouTube flagged. There you go. Courtney Love is 62. Jack White, 51. We played baseball with him. Yeah. I almost ran him over. Riley Reed
Starting point is 02:36:32 is 35. Blake. Feels like porn. Oh. And Henry's nodding his head, so it must be. Was she the... Did they make an AI thing of her? She would be your girlfriend or something?
Starting point is 02:36:49 I don't know. You're not on. What's that? She made a rap album? No, a rap song. It's really bad. Like where she says the N-word. Here, let me pull it up here.
Starting point is 02:37:02 Ooh. Ooh, I don't like that. Is this it? That's not what I was. Is that it? That's Huba Stang. Oh. I want the Riley-Reed rap song.
Starting point is 02:37:16 Well, instead of searching it, Henry, you should just sit there. Yeah, just sit there. Stephen Avery is 63, Jake. Brendan Dassey. I do see Riley Reid. My note here is she's in the X-rated Critics Organization Hall of Fame. And our dumbs-on birthday of the day, we give it to Sarah Kahnig. It's 56 from the serial podcast.
Starting point is 02:37:46 Oh, come. How old? Am I? Let call from. Dude, I don't know if you guys have seen. Because that's definitely a dub HL. But man, I'll play it for you tomorrow. There's a guy, there's a case of vocal fry going around right now in a video that you guys have to hear.
Starting point is 02:38:04 And I saw somebody tweeted and was like, this is literally the only reason you can't win an election. It's just some Democrat guy. We didn't really consider the voters. There's something to the face of your organization. Not being a teamsters guy anymore. Right? It's the most, oh my God, the voice. It's, you know.
Starting point is 02:38:29 Yeah. Best we can do is HHS. Born on this day now dead. Jacob Perkins, what year did he live? He was born on this day, now he's dead. Jacob Perkins invented the refrigerator, which Dan still doesn't have. We're still looking for a refrigerator.
Starting point is 02:38:55 I'll address that in closing remarks. I don't know why I want to say later than I think. Well, you do. You're right. He died in 1849. Damn it. So, obviously pre-electricity. So is he the first guy that thought, like, let's just kind of put a piece of ice in here with it?
Starting point is 02:39:21 Yeah, that doesn't feel like a refrigerator to me at all. It feels like this is the first guy that was like, what about if it were cold? Yeah, I don't know. You didn't even have electricity. Dump this whole thing. But also born in the stay now dead, OJ. The juice. Take care.
Starting point is 02:39:41 Ornthal James Simpson. Dead on the stay still dead. Bill Moseenko. He scored the fastest hat trick in NHL history. How long? 17 seconds. I actually think that, yeah, I'm going to go 20. 21 seconds
Starting point is 02:40:08 Okay But what's interesting is someone else scored in between there So it wasn't a natty-hattie Right So your goal with your wife Can you beat Bill Moseenko You ever do a hat trick
Starting point is 02:40:25 Or is that too much for you It's too much for me I mean You know As a younger man It's always been too much Yeah Okay you need a weekend for a hat trick
Starting point is 02:40:36 Oh I I missed a couple of birthdays. I'm sorry. I missed one for Clayton. Kevin Nash is 67. Big sexy. Diesel. Big Daddy Diesel.
Starting point is 02:40:51 Put that big boot right in your face. My bad. Back to the deads now. I go to H. Ross Perot, died on this day in 2019. And died on this day. Well, it's the big show. Ross Perrault. Rip torn.
Starting point is 02:41:10 Oh, Jackass. Got in this day, that's Hardy. Oh, I get that wrong every time. That's not Rip Torn and Jackass. It's ripped something else, right? Rip Taylor? Yeah. Rip Taylor. That's what it is.
Starting point is 02:41:25 Yeah. He's out in the boat. Oh, my God. Yeah. Have you seen the movie yet? I went the night that it came out before we left for Hawaii. I went to a midnight showing. and got on a plane the next morning at five just never went to bed it was incredible it's a lot of old
Starting point is 02:41:47 stuff and you know i've seen everything 20 times dude i once had i once had rip taylor in studio in dayton twist his mustache do you hear the news today that uh jerry fallwell came out and said telitubbies are banned for our children do you know that little cartoon telotubbies no i'm not familiar with that it's it's some new kid show That's me. That's awesome. Anyway, I'm telling him about a... Why am I telling him about...
Starting point is 02:42:17 Well, I don't want to listen to... I'm not... Oh, you're right there. C. D-D-D-Liner. So, uh, Po is red, meaning that Poe is obviously a communist. Dipsy is lime green. Oh, okay, I think I'm going through the Tel Tubby's. All right, let's get back.
Starting point is 02:42:30 I want more of that. Is that big Jim? He's a communist. I don't know who it was. I love it. Anyway, I had Rip Taylor in studio once. But it's not his birthday either. This all came from Rip Torn.
Starting point is 02:42:48 It's a Domazone. I can see why. Yeah. I just want to see Blake get mad. I just, I don't know. So died on this day. My last one is James Lewis died on this day in 2023. James Lewis was suspected of killing seven people with laced Tylenol.
Starting point is 02:43:09 And this is something. little Danny knew about, because this affected our Halloween at least one year. Yeah, and effectively affected it for the rest of Halloween's. Right? I mean, it's only happened a couple times. So when I look at his Wikipedia page, they're pretty sure this guy did it, but they only got him for extortion because he ended up sending a handwritten letter to Johnson and Johnson demanding $1 million to stop.
Starting point is 02:43:49 killing. Hmm. Fascinating. They were never really able to get the evidence to charge him with the actual poisonings, but they were able to say you did write this letter and prove
Starting point is 02:44:05 that. And so they got him and sent him to jail for a while. As often when I'm reading stories about infamous, like, criminals, they did something pretty heinous. You're like, gosh, did it just a regular guy raised by two parents.
Starting point is 02:44:24 He was born in 1946 in Memphis. James Lewis and his two sisters, their father abandoned the family. So there's one thing, right? So their mother, bit overwhelmed by having three kids, left the kids at a motel and gone. They, she rented a room one night. Like the one we have out and walks a hatcher or whatever.
Starting point is 02:44:56 Rended a room one night. Stayed at the hotel, maybe when they were all asleep. She just left and never returned to their lives. So then they end up in, you know, a orphanage or something like that and got adopted. He once attacked his adoptive mother with an axe. Was committed to a mental institution. Anyway, a lot of problems with the James Lewis life. And he probably poisoned some Tylenol tablets,
Starting point is 02:45:35 which made the whole industry make it difficult for you to open anything, even though this was like a one-off thing. Although you feel better about that, but just think about that. Before this, there was no... Nothing to make you consider it. Protective cap or whatever. There was no... It was just like all...
Starting point is 02:45:57 Like, everybody had been fine before that. He's kind of like the Ralph Nader of... No, I mean, I see what you're saying. And that's what happened on this day in history. Anyway, we do have closing remarks. Frankl and Frankel. This segment of the Dumb Zone brought to you by Frankl and Frankel. Even if you die in a car accident, we could help your living family get the bag.
Starting point is 02:46:25 Frankl and Frankl Certainly not an impulse buy, right? Frankel and Frankel. Right. If you see a little Frankl and Frankel on the shelf, you're going to grab a personal injury before you leave the store.
Starting point is 02:46:41 You're not going to do that, but if you do get a personal injury, they are on a recent business Wednesday if you want to go back and check that out. It's on YouTube as well. Just had a friend tell me yesterday. Like he was kind of fascinated by the Frankl's whole background.
Starting point is 02:46:55 and their story and just why they do what they do. They do fight for the little guy, and it's great. They're great dudes, and we invite you to give them a call, talk to a partner if indeed something goes wrong at 214 or 817, and then dial all threes. I don't remember what I said I wanted to reference here in your fridge, closing remarks. So maybe my fridge.
Starting point is 02:47:20 I did this because, so we have a new studio coming up. up, we're moving with Fox 4. The Game Day Men's Health Studio will move to Las Kalinas in the fall. And Brandon had given us an autographed jersey a year ago, and I haven't really done anything with it. Like, I wear it when I play pickup. When you make love. But, you know, I haven't gotten it framed yet. So I was actually yesterday thinking,
Starting point is 02:48:01 I was going to think, go look to get it framed. And then I just did think. If there is somebody in our audience, I would rather give money to somebody in our audience. So if someone's in that game, if someone's wife works in that game, I don't want to be sexist, though. Someone's husband can work in that game too.
Starting point is 02:48:19 Whatever. I'd rather support you. And if nobody responds to that, then that's fine. I'll go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby, but I thought I'd throw it out there first. We have thrown out for a while, yeah, that my fridge had died. Same kind of a thing.
Starting point is 02:48:35 I'd rather support someone in the game. And we're actually, when we get that new studio. So the Brandon, I feel like the Brandon jersey should be like the center point of the studio. Sure. Like, we'll put that on the wall and we'll build everything else around it. including pictures of your wives that you have sent me to read birthdays. So those are going up. They'll love that.
Starting point is 02:48:55 Those are going up in the new studio as well. Well, no, we'll put the, what was it in Shawshank? Raquel Welch, or who was it, was it? Rita Hayworth poster over all of the other ones when we leave every day. And then we'll pull it down and we'll be like, here's all the listeners' wives. So, yeah, we're also going to buy some new chairs for the new studio. Now, if you know the Carter's, we'd like to get back in on that. But other than that, we'll probably just buy some new chairs.
Starting point is 02:49:29 But, you know, if it's somebody that is a listener, I'd rather, if we're going to spend our money, I'd rather spend our money with you. So that's my closing remark. Do you have anything from, how do you say it there when you live there? Hawaii. Hawaii? No, and it's funny, too. we had a white as our tour guide yesterday, but she's from Kuwait.
Starting point is 02:49:51 And she's been here her whole life. She goes to college now in Boston. But it is just kind of funny because, you know, she has every right to pronounce it that way. But it's different when a white person does it, but they do. You kind of have to, like to pronounce the things on the signs correctly, you have to say it the way they do. Because otherwise it makes no sense phonetically. But no, it's, we got a big day of exploring.
Starting point is 02:50:16 yesterday we were on a boat on the coast and like a trip you pay whatever and this is a good 20 people and they know what they're doing because right when you came around a certain bend you hear the theme and I had sunglasses
Starting point is 02:50:38 sunglasses and I was like well I'm putting these on right now because you're boy you know anybody see you crying well enough like they came right it's right when you come around the bend, they know, right? And you're like, what the f? It's insane.
Starting point is 02:50:52 It's insane. I've never seen anything like it. It's truly like, it's insane. It's insane that this is here. But if you think about it, it's in the middle of the ocean. It's got, it's the wettest place on earth. So all the plants just look like they're on HGH. They've got game day plants.
Starting point is 02:51:10 Everything's lush and pretty and insane. Mom's going home late tonight. Oh, I'm sorry. Oh, no, but it's been cool, though. That's a good babysitter having your mom there. For sure. And, you know, that my wife has a job, whatever, it's not all me. But if you're, like, on a boat with your mom and your wife and your kids,
Starting point is 02:51:30 it feels like you're like, I'm like, I've accomplished something. Like, I'm some level of a, now I can't, if this, if they need me to, like, tie a knot on this boat, I'm going to piss my pants and cry. But for the moment, like, I feel like a provider. To look at Jurassic Park. film locations and be sad. Right. Now, have your kids seen it?
Starting point is 02:51:52 It's been part of the cool. No, my daughter's seen parts, but not the whole thing. She scares easily. Have you put it back on since you've been there? Because I feel like that should be something you kind of look at just so you can walk outside into it. I looked at the part where her dad got eaten last night. That was actually the night before.
Starting point is 02:52:16 I wouldn't look at that for sure. But yeah, it's emotional. Like the whole place is just like it makes you feel emotional. Like it's too much nature. This is the thing. And I have a longer thing on this. I could not live. You wouldn't want to live here unless you're done with life.
Starting point is 02:52:34 Unless you're like, this is it. I'm checked out. Not really interested in contributing anymore. Like Don Nelson? Yeah. And that's fine. But if you still have like any aspirations, you can't live here. Why?
Starting point is 02:52:46 because you will just be sucked into the shit you'd be like what is the point like why would I work why would I struggle for anything like I this is the we're all trying to recreate this at home with all sorts of different things you can buy and dig world possibly go do whatever but if you were here you'd be like I literally just need to eat get by and I'll be fulfilled you can go outside just sit and you're happy right I need the hellscape of like 114 to make begin to get up in the morning. Just the, yeah,
Starting point is 02:53:19 the, our lawn is getting yellow. Yeah, and we water, we're watering it way too often. And it's still, it doesn't matter. Communist.
Starting point is 02:53:29 It's very, that's a big, yeah, okay. Yeah. Henry, it's good to see you, mofo.
Starting point is 02:53:34 We got to go before this becomes a zoo. See you guys for drinks later. Thank you for watching my video. Subscribe and type for my name if you want to watch more of my video.
