Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, this is Dan McDowell of the Dumb Zone, letting you know that our Cowboys training camp coverage live from Oxnard, California, is sponsored by Plumquick. Join our free YouTube stream beginning at 1130 Dallas Time. I'm on Dallas Time every weekday until August 20th. If you're not a live listener or cool enough to call yourself a subscriber, all episodes will drop at their normal time and are completely free again, thanks to Plumquick. Now, here's today's program. You are listening to subscriber-only content. Plants over pills. Oh, friends, here we are again.
Starting point is 00:01:09 You're looking live at the site of Cowboys Training Camp, Oxnard, California. We're at the Marriott something, something. Residents. We're on a tennis court. We're under a tent, though. One, two, three, four, five, six. We're pushing up against the tent limit. According to the maximum occupancy.
Starting point is 00:01:37 sign says 10. Yeah, and I mean, you got six 1.2s in here, so we might be pushing. Yeah. If there's a fire, we're not all going to be able to get out. Anyway, no practice during the program today. The lawnmower is out there. My wife is riding around, the riding lawnmower, just having a gleeful time. I didn't think we got any rain last night.
Starting point is 00:02:11 Do you feel like we did? What are you saying? I guess that joke fell flat. Okay. Gets her going a little bit, you know what I'm saying? Oh, yeah, okay. Happy Tuesday, everyone. Above us.
Starting point is 00:02:25 He's saying that her pussy was so wet that it was dripping onto the football field. Then you and I. That's, yeah, that's way high above my, I'm low-hanging fruit guy. Can we re-rack? I can't understand. No, we're just riding your wave. Hit the theme. The top comedy.
Starting point is 00:02:44 I do love. There are a few scenes or smells that you could bottle up and call heaven for me more than football field being mowed in morning. It's with sun. It's like, oh, my God. And especially if it's sponsored, because I like to have American Airlines and Pepsi kind of in my dream. Casinos. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:12 Some kind of a betting thing. Yeah. The app. Is that the field? Were you here when we did the roll 100 yards? I was, and that is the field. Was it over there? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:24 I want to say it was that one. But in any case, that was brutal. And that was weird, because I had done nothing but get punished in football practice for my entire life. And I'd never heard of that before until we saw Last Chance You. We'd never rolled one. We never rolled like, we rolled down hill. and then had to bear crawl up them. Bear crawls were our punishment.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Yeah, and you'd crab walk 100. You'd have to walk on your hands backward. That seems more it's a punishment, but also then it's make you do something that you're going to possibly do in a game and it could help you. Conditioning. The rolling thing is just torture, right? Yeah, you're going to throw up, most likely.
Starting point is 00:04:05 What if we just take a big thing and hit you in the head a hundred times and just... Arguably, that has more function. You might get hit in the head. Let's warm you up. rolling around on the ground, horrible. Yeah, if you just get in a head.
Starting point is 00:04:19 We learned it from last chance you. Like, there's a reason why that's where we got the punishment is it's convict camp. Not saving. If you get hit in the head enough, can you get just a big callous
Starting point is 00:04:29 around your brain? And then all of a sudden, you can take more? I think that there is actually something to what you're saying. I do think that actually somewhat happens. Like a base for your skin. Troy Aikman unable to get a concussion now because he had so many?
Starting point is 00:04:48 Yeah, I mean, think about what happens if someone with, like, special needs, like, if they get their belt. Like, obviously, you're wondering how you would test for that. Like, if you've had enough concussions, is your baseline, like, okay, well, I'm not sure. I don't know what you're exactly saying there. But I don't think you want to finish it. I don't mind finishing it. If Troy Aikman has had enough concussions, are you saying like he would be resistant to them or like how could they tell?
Starting point is 00:05:19 Like now I could bonk him on the head with a frying pan and nothing would happen. And then by transit of property, you're kind of calling him brain dead. You're saying there's not like a lot going on up there. So I'm saying if you're already, if you're already someone who is cognitively limited. Like he has a natural football helmet now. So let's get back to the question. How would they test for concussions in the special needs football league? would you have a different bar?
Starting point is 00:05:44 If you are already in cognitive disability, how would they be able to tell? Yeah. And I will finish it because that's funny. Yeah, no, that's... I like where you're doing... And also, if you note... We have beginnings of a set here.
Starting point is 00:06:00 If you also note here, I'm trying to grow the game. Yeah. I'm trying to get more people involved in football. Well, it's the same test, but different questions. So rather than, like, what day of the week is it? It's like, do you want to grill cheese? I'm like, all right, he's back. The answer is no, then hey, something's up here.
Starting point is 00:06:14 He's not playing. Do you want to watch John Sina? Right. So our Cowboys Camp coverage brought to you by Plum Quick. That is our... I'm Jake Kemp brought to you by Plum Quick. Oh, did we not do that? I'm just doing my part.
Starting point is 00:06:32 I'm Dan McDowell. I'm Blake Jones. Who DCK is here? T.C. is here. Matt Grimm is here. Matt Grimm. I referred to him as our driver earlier this week. You got very upset.
Starting point is 00:06:48 You didn't talk to me for hours. But it's just kind of like, you know, when you have somebody, if it's like intern Henry, is intern Henry just going to remain intern Henry to me, even if he's not officially an intern? Just the name. It's just kind of the name. I agree with that. And I know where you're coming from, but I feel like that is a reminder. you started at a low level.
Starting point is 00:07:15 We don't need that for him. We need to immediately be speaking with deference. Like you call intern Henry when he's in, intern Henry when he's 40 to remind him like, listen, bud. But Matt's like in charge. Anyway, thanks to Plum Quick. They can get out. They can do the whole home.
Starting point is 00:07:35 What do they call that? The annual membership. Grady Spencer made him a little song. These are the plumbers making me sick. Don't wait around, call them plum quick. Got the good tools, know all the tricks. Don't wait around, call on Plum Quick. 469-331-3669 Plumquick Company.com.
Starting point is 00:08:03 Home membership. Yeah, 199 bucks a year. He drives the, okay, got me at the end for sure. The whole home plumbing inspection, 10% off repairs up to $500. Priority scheduling, man. Tame and plumbing. Getting a lot of response to, a lot of people emailing about how great. About how great plum quick has been.
Starting point is 00:08:28 We were waiting. Get on board. For years. People were saying, why don't you guys have a plumber that you vetted? Get that toilet flushed. I know for months you've been just looking at it without flushing it. You know how like people do like, just. Japanese toilets and stuff, or they'll have...
Starting point is 00:08:43 No. You're not familiar with that game. You saw the South Park, at least. That was based on something. What's the Japanese toilet? Well, much like with China and their cars, and America's great. I would not want to live anywhere else. But they got cooler shit in other countries in some spaces, and no pun intended,
Starting point is 00:08:59 Japan, their toilets are different. I learned this in cars, the movie 20 years ago, but they take the bidet to a new level. It warms. It washes you. It's an experience. I've heard about the warm toilets Oh, it started there. Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 00:09:15 So people will do like weird stuff like that. Do you think anybody would ask Plumquick, like, can you make my toilet flush like I'm in Australia? Like I want to feel because I don't know why that happens. The other way?
Starting point is 00:09:32 Rotating thing? Is it a hemisphere thing? Yeah. Yeah, it's like the Earth gravitational or something. That should always have a mic. But it's probably better he doesn't because then he'd correct
Starting point is 00:09:41 on every See, that's why what was it the other day? Oh yeah, so we were with crypto Nick Black the other day and what was he talking about?
Starting point is 00:09:53 How AI he's gonna he's trying to do an app where AI replaces like writers you could write a movie with his app and stuff. Oh awesome. That's cool.
Starting point is 00:10:02 Yeah, well know. That's what we need to replace humans for art. Clayton was complaining about it like oh he's talking about replacing our jobs and stuff and I said our job cannot be replaced by A.
Starting point is 00:10:11 because then somebody would just be listening to our show and then we'd get everything right. And they would have no emotion. They would just nod and they would move on. They wouldn't yell at their radio. I wholeheartedly agree with this. Here comes T.C. to tell us why we're wrong. If we always got on, issued every joke correctly, the rest of the AI guys would laugh at the joke. I'll do AITC.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Put the smug filter on, do we have like on the mic and you put it on 1,000%? Oh, you think. it won't be able to do that, and then you laugh, and you smile, real like that. Do it. You really think it won't be able to do that? I wasn't half awake enough. It works. It'll optimize for what the audience wants. I don't want any more of this. We will get so bogged down. It's not fun. Can it do this? Can it be swashbuckling? I see some suits over there. I see ties. I see corporate.
Starting point is 00:11:10 it. That's right. That's what's behind all of AI. Suits. Nothing but suits. Not this sports talk. Today is Point Break Day. That's a great point. Keep his mic. So I don't know that we have time to do this given our well, I know how it's going to shake out for you
Starting point is 00:11:26 and probably all of us. It's football day. But they are putting point break back in the theaters two days this year. One of them was Saturday and one of them or Friday. One of them is today. It seems really great, but we've done that. We've put it back in theaters. It's not like this has never been done before since 1990,
Starting point is 00:11:45 whatever, the movie was made. I'm excited, but, huh? I mean, it's great. There's probably some thing they're doing with it. Everybody else is reaping this credit. Like, oh my gosh, can you believe point? Yeah, I can believe it. We've done it a few times. I believe that it's in 4K.
Starting point is 00:12:01 It's a 35th anniversary of the movie. That's way more K than I've ever. It was released this summer. You're a 3K guy? I don't know. It was released, I guess, summer 35 years ago. I think when y'all did it, it was just K. Just K, barely a K. Ooh, it's tomorrow night.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Oh, that's great news. So maybe. Although, aren't we? We'll see. I saw a great bit in the news. Maybe they want to go. They might. I bet Brian Anger loves point break.
Starting point is 00:12:31 He seems the right age. He's from Florida. Oh, yeah. Who does it? He's from here? He's from here. Okay. I knew he's from somewhere hot.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Point break. Okay, so last night, T.C. was doing his film guy bit, both at the Airbnb and then here at Cowboys Camp. And it seemed like you were kind of giddy when we got home that you were out walking around the sidelines. So I wanted you to talk about your experience. So we came out here at 6 o'clock or so, right? That's when practice broke up. and cowboy player availability out on the field. We ended up interviewing the newest, hottest, wide receiver in the entire NFL.
Starting point is 00:13:18 Changes the math. We'll play that interview later after Christy Scales joins us. What's his name? Camden Brown. Camden Brown. CB, we like to call him. So anyway, we did that, and T.C. walked out on the field, walking around, just looking at people. I guess Jerry Jones is out there.
Starting point is 00:13:39 We got a report. that one EA was out there. Yeah, I'll address my EA interaction with Christie Scales. Okay. Yeah. So what was it like? It was amazing. It was all the big famous football people.
Starting point is 00:13:57 They were right up close. I, you know, you know me. I like to find boundaries. Just to see, you know, what exactly I can do with the camera before they yell at me to stop. And no one yelled at me at any point. It was a very like, hey, it's. just camp, do whatever you want. You just walked wherever you wanted to.
Starting point is 00:14:14 I did. And like, but you have a video camera. You have real equipment. Yeah. I think that's so helpful. You're not just guy. So helpful. People just assume it's not phone.
Starting point is 00:14:25 You've been coming out here for years and you know where you're allowed to go. A lot of the interesting things were happening were around Aaron Andrews and she brought her family, including the like a nanny housekeeper was part of the entourage. That's an interesting move. She hugged Brian Chottenheimer. I was reviewing the footage last night. Lupita? Why should she not?
Starting point is 00:14:48 We've nicknamed the nanny. Yeah. And so it would have been really weird if I didn't have a camera, just kind of stand and watch her family. Yeah. He's a friendly guy. He shook the hand of every cop that was watching practice. He came over and thanked all of them. It was weird, too.
Starting point is 00:15:09 I don't know how they decide what player. comes over but i think tyler guyton maybe was uh was over talking to the the police officers and they were talking i heard him say like oh yeah i wanted to do cia yes i wanted to do he was like i wanted to do cyber security though like not like in the field but i wanted to be like a a cybersecurity agent for the federal gun like he they were talking and i'm like okay that's what guyton's dream is yeah he they brought him over there for some reason like he must have asked or they know like he's like can i meet the cops okay but then shoddy comes over and I mean he's dude he might as well have been crying there he's like a hand over is always like guys
Starting point is 00:15:48 you know the work you do like he's really yes dude he's on and one it's annoying I was very effective just anything he does is interesting to me because he's he's shot he pretty much all of it's funny so he finished that when he's done with the he walks away from the cops DAC is now interacting with Aaron Andrews' two-year-old, and he just stood there and watched that, like, a big smile, like, for a couple minutes. Shottie watched Dak play with someone else's family. He didn't say anything, just like soaking it in.
Starting point is 00:16:22 He just loves it's one of the Fs. He's fired up. It combines two of the Fs, really. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then he couldn't help himself. He'd been watching long enough. He got in there. I got to play with the little kids.
Starting point is 00:16:36 Yeah, he took him on the golf cart. I think that he was trying to make it so that they could drive around, but they didn't have a key, so they just steered and made noises. Dak at one point said, you should let him Marshawn Lynch Beast mode it, which was a great, you know that video. Ghost Ride the Whip. Yeah. And you're videoing all of this.
Starting point is 00:16:58 Yeah, yeah, as much I can. Yeah. Then Michael Irvin was doing his Netflix podcast, which I found out, because he had a really cool producer guy that I was very, just like taking notes, how this guy operates. I was trying to learn. By the way, Michael Irvin's production crew, of which there were a dozen people,
Starting point is 00:17:18 brought a bunch of food. They had some leftovers. You guys were questioning whether I'd be able to find takers for the hero and falafel on the streets of L.A. where everyone has a house. No. I gave away Michael Irvin's food to two homeless people last night, and they were fucking thrilled.
Starting point is 00:17:33 That's nice. I told you throw it in the garbage because homeless people go through the garbage to look for food. It's kind of a donation. I think they do here, to be honest. Here at camp? Yes. Twice I've come up here in the morning and all the trash cans are knocked over and there's
Starting point is 00:17:46 food. They definitely do at my house. I did always growing up in Cleveland again. I used to dream of if I became a homeless guy. That wasn't the goal. But said, if I was, why would I, why is this guy laying here near Jacobs Field? It's freezing. I'll just start walking.
Starting point is 00:18:05 I don't have a house. I don't have a car or anything. I'll just walk west. I get a compass, and I walk that way. And then when I got here, now I've decided, yes, I think Cowboys Camp would be a good place to be a homeless guy. I'm not going to. They're throwing away excess, you know, whatever.
Starting point is 00:18:19 We went to Burger Restaurant, Mike Rinder's favorite, habit last night. On the somewhat late night, me, T.C. Blake 2, listener Blake. And there were two homeless people. I saw them outside. They didn't, I mean, they're on bikes, and they look dreddy. But I went out there and gave them my food. First of all, they're both in better shaped in me. And the woman is not, she's attractive, dude.
Starting point is 00:18:42 Like, she's got a effed up grill. But, like, these people are not living poor. I don't want to say that. Obviously, they're having a very tough time if you're dealing with housing insecurity. But they're doing better than Cleveland homeless people. They look like they're out. Most they give them all out here in California. They weren't in a bad mood.
Starting point is 00:18:59 Like, they were like, are you serious, dude? That's awesome. They're like really happy about it. I'm trying to give so a homeless person something. at home sometimes. They're like, where's the drink? Yeah, this guy knows. Can't confirm.
Starting point is 00:19:12 You got to keep your head on this. Maybe you can adopt a new one out here. Someone that'll appreciate you. It's appreciative. Yeah, I'd love that. Whatever you're around, Jake, there's just a lot going on. Like, we were in the middle of, like, ordering and waiting for the food, and he just bolts out the door, then comes back.
Starting point is 00:19:27 He's like, I got rid of that flophil. Well, I spotted a guy with dreads outside this place. I'm like, that's my best starting point. You know how they do the, you can adopt this African kid that's sitting in a mud puddle? With flies. With a fly on his eyeball. Yeah. Why don't we do?
Starting point is 00:19:46 We can start a business, a thing where you can adopt a homeless guy. Don't start a thing. My generation tried this. We can skim so much money off the top of that, dude. My generation tried this. Let me tell you the misstep. Don't have them fight. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:01 Damn it. People like it a lot. less than I think we were anticipating they would. But in any case, yes. Back out on the field. Back out on the field. Yeah, the next thing that I really got to get video from today is just the teeming hordes screaming the names of the players that are leaving.
Starting point is 00:20:22 It's a dystopian scene that I don't know the average listener. Like I imagine a shot of Dak walking away as a dozen people are just yelling. Dach! It does build up an ear cal. right as far as sure if you are wondering oh why did that pro athlete he just walked by that per like they probably just developed that because they're always getting screamed at yeah but then you know you'll see you try the mr jones you try that then you try the jerry and then you try the i'm from dallas yeah there are moves you can as if that would be like oh oh oh wow hold on
Starting point is 00:21:00 ever stop the whole camp the much better there's a guy here for You have to say, like, I went to such and such high school in Little Rock or Fayetteville. The cheerleaders come out, they start doing the leg kick thing. They're playing the song. Like, this guy's from Dallas. Rowdy comes over. Yeah. No.
Starting point is 00:21:17 Holding them up. I was on the steps, too, Jerry. Honorary, they cut. That was a good one. Excellent. Yeah. I think, I've seen people try the, I have your rookie card. I saw that work.
Starting point is 00:21:30 And you might get them to come over and sign it. Okay. So if you can, but for the moment. Post part, yeah, they're blocking God. Today we want to capture that. I saw Irvin, like, down there with Jerry for, he was down there for, like, 20 minutes, just the two of them. Irvin was everywhere.
Starting point is 00:21:45 Yeah. And he said he'd be back today. But, yeah, no, watching the podcast get done was exciting. He kind of brought over all the big players, talked to him for a while. Just standing up? Any current Cowboys is no. Is he standing up or was he, like, sitting at a desk? They had, like, director chairs.
Starting point is 00:22:03 Okay. That's cool. That's cool. Jack Prescott. He's walking around sleeveless, always. Yeah, Michael Urban's awesome. Yeah, he was in workout gear for the interviews. I was going in the heavily air-conditioned bathroom port-a-potty when he was walking out.
Starting point is 00:22:22 And I said, excuse me, Mr. Playmaker, sir. You have? And, yeah, you know, he loves my unique brand of comedy. Does he want to see? He knows your Dion's boy. What's that? Does he want to see point break, do you think? Are you going to see point break tomorrow?
Starting point is 00:22:40 Is this what we're hearing? I'd like to. Okay. I mean, we'll see how it all shakes out. I know we've got a lot of other interesting things tomorrow. Today's going to be awesome. The Saints are here. Kellyn's here.
Starting point is 00:22:51 Let's lower the bar. The other Coopjeck. It might be fine. I mean, it's awesome for me to watch two. I mean, this is the last time I'm going to get to see these guys. Two of the hottest offensive minds and football? I just think two NFL teams. There's a history.
Starting point is 00:23:05 You know, seeing the Saints will be cool. Like I said, their O.C. Kubiak is his brother's still a scout here. Former washed media intern, Clint Kubiak on staff. It's cool. Wait. The Cowboys have a staff member as a scout. One of Gary Kubiak's son. And he knows our washed guys real well.
Starting point is 00:23:25 I thought. So wait, Clint Kubiak is at New Orleans. Klein Kubiak is a Cowboys scout. And then there's another one too. Oh. who's an O.C. somewhere. Which one's the one that is now the Raiders head coach? Is that Clint?
Starting point is 00:23:41 That's Clint. Clint? Okay. Clint Kubiak is the Raiders head coach. I don't think there's any Kubiak's here. Clay Kubiak is the 49ers OC. Okay, that's it. Okay. Yeah, he was the Seattle OC for a year and he killed it.
Starting point is 00:23:56 Hold on. Can AI just do what we just did there? Yes, it can. Absolutely not. It would have just given you the correct information right away. and it wouldn't have taken three minutes. No, we would perfectly try and do what the audience wants. This is what I want. I think I'm still right about the D.C.
Starting point is 00:24:09 They have one of your favorites, Brandon Staley. Klein was here. Did you say that? Yeah, he still is. See? AI cannot do that. Sates D.C., Brandon Staley, who we became very taken with when the Chargers made him their head coach
Starting point is 00:24:25 because he's a quarterback who became a defensive coordinator. Ah. And he is of the same system that Christian Parker is. Just the fact that Dack is going to be playing against the head coach that he was in a quarterback. If we have to sell him on there's live NFL football 20 feet from us and it'll be great and we get a, who knows, maybe it'll suck. I just thought you meant as the show, like the show is going to be great and we're going to do great. I don't believe that we will. No, I was more, there's an NFL.
Starting point is 00:24:51 They'll have K names. It's exciting today. They do. How many of them are there? Clint, Clay, and Klein. Well, it sounds like three. Do we have any middle names? It does sound like three kids, though.
Starting point is 00:25:04 That'll work. Yeah. So then we came home, and T.C. was working on some more video. Then it looked like he needed a creative boost. And so he said he was going to go jump in the ocean to, like, cleanse his body from all that he had been through on that day and kind of do a reset because he had some bid ideas for the night. Did you go ocean? Ocean swimming? I watched the sunset with my feet in the water.
Starting point is 00:25:36 It's beautiful. It's gay as hell. Just you sitting? Yeah. Right there? Excellent. You don't imagine that as being part of your life when you move here and become a guy with one-pound dog? Oh, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:25:49 There's just so many things that can be done when you move here. But I kind of imagine I want to be sitting there with a seafood burrito. Once you take that last bite, just kind of shake your hand off, head into the waves. Or maybe I bring just a tortilla. And I just let fish jump in and then I wrap it up. There you go. Yeah. Do you ever get in the ocean?
Starting point is 00:26:15 When I went surfing. No, I don't go in the ocean, generally. Okay. I might want to yucca that fish before you eat it. Yucca help me this morning. Did it? Pick the correct yogurt. Yeah, thank you.
Starting point is 00:26:28 Good. We're loving the Yucca app. We're cut. We're looking good. All right. So then after I went to bed at Texas time, I woke up and saw a bunch of water bottles this morning. Do you want to just go? I haven't posted the bit yet.
Starting point is 00:26:46 I was going to wait until after the show, but do you want to just spoil it and talk about it? We can. That doesn't seem like the end of the world. Yeah. Oh, speaking of that, T.C., like we recorded a bit the other day, and then he had me do a voice. over, and I understand that was released this morning. So I'd like to welcome in all the people from Instagram who are finding our show for the first time ever.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Yeah. I'm Blake Jones. I'm Dan McDowell. I'm Jacob. Don't be. We were talking about this before. TC said brace. Brace for the wave of people that are joining us now because the video he and I
Starting point is 00:27:23 cut. I think it's gold video. I think it has value. I'm not. And I don't think. I'm saying my. commentary on it, put it over the top, it's probably viral. Is the network connection stable enough to handle the new traffic?
Starting point is 00:27:36 That's all we're worried about. He says it's groaning under the weight. Anyway, okay, back to, I saw these water bottles when I woke up. Yeah, we've been talking about this for a while, that Blake says that Arrowhead Water is the greatest thing that's ever been invented. We have pointed out that Arrowhead is owned by a parent company that puts out the exact same water with different labels and it's just Ozarka. And he has said that that's incorrect.
Starting point is 00:28:05 And we've said, well, there's no way that it's not and we'll show you, we'll make you drink six cups of water, three of which are Arrowhead, three of which are Ozarka. And there's no way you'll be able to tell the difference. He went five for six. Wow. He's right. Very good. We've been wrong this entire time. He would take one sip, go Arrowhead.
Starting point is 00:28:26 The first one and the second one were boom, boom. Arrowhead, that's Ozarka. Just cocky. And, I mean, I've calculated. I've failed at a Gatorade challenge before. I think I was set up a little bit,
Starting point is 00:28:37 but even in that case, we're talking about water. A Gatorade Challenge seems tough. We're talking about water. Yeah, yeah. And also, I think that maybe you'd be able to tell the Howe water bottle,
Starting point is 00:28:49 maybe if you drank out of it because of the aluminum ors. These are all plastic bottles. There's not canned water, water out of a tap. You know, Ozarka and Arrowhead, They look the same. That's because they are.
Starting point is 00:29:00 They're sourced differently. And I proved it. He did. He did. He did. It's incredible, dude. We can't challenge it ever again. He's right.
Starting point is 00:29:10 He was out of the room. There's no way he could have cheated. We had a very elaborate system. It was amazing. For mixing up the water's waters with? Couldn't believe it. Way to go, Blake. I'm sorry I ever doubted you about anything.
Starting point is 00:29:26 I wish I could have gone six for six, but I'll take five for six. They're different. I can tell. Water. See, I watch after that video this afternoon. Blake's great. Get over it.
Starting point is 00:29:43 He's been telling us that for years. A couple of news stories I saw this morning that I thought were funny. Great bit from Nick Reiner. Do you see Nick Reiner? You know who he is? Yeah, I think he's in some legal trouble right now. Oh. I saw this.
Starting point is 00:30:00 He, well, apparently, allegedly, killed his father and parents? Like, it's pretty clear that he did that, but it's now why. I don't know. He had this blocked, but he tried, and I appreciate attempts. He had a petition to access the $1.5 million trust fund that is in his name, that he would get upon his parents' death. That's what they wanted him to have. He wanted to access it to pay for his legal defense.
Starting point is 00:30:36 Yeah, hey, I'm coming in some hard times, actually. The defense to pay for the defense of killing my parent. Like, unfortunately, they can't speak for themselves anymore, but I don't think that they would have wanted me to go to jail. So it did. I guess the legal system worked. It probably shouldn't be able to give it to him. But how about attempt?
Starting point is 00:30:58 How about trying, Nick Reiner? You might as well give it a shot. Yeah, no, I don't know how all this works. Okay, yeah, use it. I mean. And then he gets off. Here's the thing. He's not guilty yet.
Starting point is 00:31:12 Right. And he's, I think you should presume his innocence. So how to, I'd be interested in knowing how this got denied. Right? I mean, obviously the insurance companies have some sort of language. Otherwise, everybody would just be. Well, there could also be somebody in. involved in they have to approve once you're yeah once whatever about an executor i don't know
Starting point is 00:31:39 what i'm talking about uh so plum quick a sponsor for uh our trip out here but also want to thank uh parley collective that is of course our marketing firm and they could be your marketing firm too go to parley collective dot com uh to find out more they work with businesses they've been working with us for a couple of years. Help you get your stuff together. Now they are jumping on board to help us sponsor Cowboys Training Camp. And a tradition unlike any other out here at Cowboys Training Camp is talking to the great Christie Scales, which we do on and off the air.
Starting point is 00:32:19 She reluctantly does it off the air. Not true. But here we are around here. Did we have a great discussion yesterday? We had a great discussion. I was grateful for it. I felt blessed. Nothing about football, which is fun.
Starting point is 00:32:31 I hope this doesn't sound weird because you're a female, but I feel like I've been listening to you for a long time, but you don't seem very old to me. Well, thank you. I like that last part. As great as the conversation was, I know what time it is when Fox National walks by and Aaron Andrews would like a moment of Christy's time.
Starting point is 00:32:50 It's been nice talking to you, Jake. Yeah, well. Here's Aaron Andrews. You'll be here tomorrow. What's funny, Jake, it's last night, right before I fell asleep, I thought, oh boy I don't know that I got back to talk to Jake after because Aaron and I were talking what about 20 30 minutes or so and and then I thought oh boy am I going to hear it tomorrow
Starting point is 00:33:10 that's what I was I went to bed thinking the same thing this day is not complete so I'm sorry that we didn't get to finish our conversation I'd rather talk about improv comedy than football any day at the week so that was cool yeah she went to the ground links theater last Thursday night we heard that briefly on the air last week, but her and Brad went up where TC and I went Saturday, but they went to the alumni show. Yeah, so if you're a fan of righteous Jimstones on HBO, the actress who plays Judy Jimstone, that's the sister, she is actually from, her name is Edie Patterson, and of all places, she is from Texas City, Texas, and went to Southwest Texas State, and I'm from Galveston, and so a bunch of my family lived and grew up in.
Starting point is 00:33:58 in Texas City so after the show and Brad and I are big righteous gemstone fans which is very rude and obnoxious but hilarious she also co-wrote it it's one of the Danny McBride shows that he's had a lot of success on HBO with that kind of irreverent comedy but anyway we it's a small place as you know Jake you guys go in there it only seats about a hundred maybe 110 guests and so we're hanging out afterwards it's like I want to meet Edie she's from you know if I say I'm from Galveston, her being from Texas City, maybe she'll stop. Not only did she stop, she probably hung out about 15 minutes with us. So, yeah, it was a lot of fun. That's why I love camp. It's like, oh, what'd you do at camp? It very rarely has anything to do with football, you know?
Starting point is 00:34:42 It's just fun stuff. I feel bad that not everybody takes advantage of all of the great shows or concerts. I went to Del Mar on Sunday. We had a day off to the horse racing. Oh, nice. Yeah, that's like classic. classic but I'd never done that so you got to take advantage while you're out here and everybody else is like hey I'm ready to head home it's like no let's stay for another month you know maybe we can realign to the NFC West at least through October you know we play the NFC West West teams anyway this year we got to come back out to SOFI so why not do it and not just here but every time we're on the road as soon as the charter lands christie and the gang are rushing to some theater or something to see somebody. It's for life. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:29 Every Saturday, I'm actually going a day early for New York. Blake, if you want to go up early, I'm heading up early. Because one, I think you guys know I do a lot of work with Cowboys Cheerleaders, but one of the one who became like the breakout star through the first three seasons of the show on Netflix, Reese. Reese had retired as a DCC, but she is doing a six-week run on Broadway as Roxy Hart. in the classic musical Chicago.
Starting point is 00:36:01 And because the team doesn't get up to New York, we actually stay in New Jersey. And I don't want to say the little town where we're staying, I think, for security reasons, they don't want us to talk about where the team stays a lot. But anyway, it would be very difficult to get from this small town in New Jersey into Manhattan in time for a 7.30 or actually 8 o'clock curtain. So I'm going to go up extra early to make sure, get to see our friend Reese star on. Broadway but we're really really proud of her and it's what an amazing thing and that's a huge role if you don't know anything about Broadway musicals maybe you saw the movie uh Chicago with
Starting point is 00:36:40 katherine zeta jones and rene zell weger so Reese is going to play the character uh portrayed by Renee zellweger so it's a it's a big dang deal and so very excited for also played by brook shields in the past yeah it's and my favorite Ashley Grant. I don't know who that is. She was the first plus-size model to ever grace the cover of Sports Illustrated. Oh, okay. Now we have Jake's attention.
Starting point is 00:37:07 Yeah. How's she doing now? She'd get on thosempic? I hope not. Anorexic, like back in my day. At the time. I pine for the old days. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:19 We had anorexia and bulimia. Yeah. Now the girls are like, oh, no, I'll just get fat. This is ridiculous. What are we doing? You guys would pawn all the stuff on your previous radio show, and it was like, don't eat after 8 p.m. It's like, well, heck, if I didn't snack after 8 p.m.,
Starting point is 00:37:37 I wouldn't have to take any of these pills. I'd just be, we're not supposed to do that anyway. You're not going to be a sponsor that they made me read stuff for 20 years ago. You really are. Look at you now, though. You look great. But you're right. At the time, I said the same thing silently, not during the spots, but it was like,
Starting point is 00:37:55 and I tried to, you know, I don't want to endorse these guys anymore. And they were like, well, we're kind of in it. And you are here on a one-year contract, so you'll be endorsing it. You're going to do, yeah. And then they end up going out of business and getting sued. And I was right as so often. It's a concern. You really have to be careful when these opportunities are presented about getting tied up.
Starting point is 00:38:22 You know, I'm very hesitant to do anything that's health-wise. because it may work for one person but not another, you know, and you don't want to put your name out there and endorse something that may not work for everyone out there. So, yeah, it's kind of a fine line. That's why I endorse bulimia. It works for everyone. And so simple.
Starting point is 00:38:40 We can all do it. I thought you can say plum quick. Do you need your teeth? Pretty universal. No, plum quick's great. They're our plumber. And we want you to go to plumb quick company.com, Christy, for all your plumbing needs.
Starting point is 00:38:53 We'll do. Thank you. So obviously you look at the schedule and you try to plan something cool. Are you doing that? Where are you going in this pre-season? Don't you have a pre-season game? We go to Phoenix. Well, we were in Seattle this weekend.
Starting point is 00:39:10 Oh, Rio. Rio. Yeah, we're going to Rio. That's a real game. Oh, that's a real game. Yeah, it's in September. It's week three of the season. It's not pre-season.
Starting point is 00:39:20 Oh. So you have to go? No, I think she's about to tell you. Oh. Yeah, a lot of the broadcast crews are not making the full trip. It has to do with logistics and space on the plane and all sorts of stuff. I am going so that I can do sideline reports and do the pregame as well, interview Jerry and all that, and then do sideline reports during the game,
Starting point is 00:39:44 but not all of the crew is going. And unfortunately, it's a situation where the team is treating it almost like any other away game And by that, I mean, we're not going four or five days early as we did our most recent international regular season game in London, which was what, 10 or 12 years ago? It's been a while, 10 years maybe. We were there and had like three practices over there. You do a lot of media stuff. The cheerleaders went. They did a lot of media stuff.
Starting point is 00:40:15 Now, the cheerleaders are going to this game in Rio. It was announced yesterday. The halftime show is going to include Ricky Martin, so I'm very excited about that. I did see him on Broadway, by the way, guys. He was Che in Evita, so made sure to get a seat on that side where Che kind of leans up against the wall and watches the rest of the goings on stage. Anyway, but it is a Dallas Cowboys home game.
Starting point is 00:40:43 So that's why the cheerleaders are going. And in stadium, our game, you would say game day entertainment, game day presentation staff. most of them are going because the Cowboys are responsible and it's going to be just going to sound and kind of have a little bit of a feel of a Dallas Cowboys home game and a lot of similarities to the game day presentation at AT&T Stadium as opposed to if you were like with the Ravens interestingly the Ravens are sending their broadcast crew their radio broadcast crew but so Brad and Babe are going about that bread and Babe are going or no no okay but
Starting point is 00:41:23 So they're going to call it here or state side. So then you're going, they'll throw it down to you. So what happens with some of these international games? I don't, I don't know. No, he helped facilitate everything. Or Brad's extremely excited that he doesn't have to travel. Yeah, he doesn't have to put up with me. But it's going to be similar to what we did during COVID.
Starting point is 00:41:45 In COVID, we weren't allowed to travel with the team. And so I was doing sideline reports from 1,200 miles. away. I mean, I was also with Brad and Babe in the booth. We did it all of the away games from our broadcast booth inside AT&T Stadium. And what was funny was they, the league, because every broadcast crew had to do this. It wasn't just Cowboys. But if you were the Texans and you were doing your Texans broadcasts, they were doing it probably from Reliance Stadium. But the big Jerry, Jerry Tron board, we got a feed from the league, and it was all 22, meaning just the field itself, a still thing, the whole field.
Starting point is 00:42:33 And so I remember, but you couldn't see the sidelines. You couldn't see the stands. It was just the field, kind of like watching coaches film, okay, from the side. And Cowboys get the ball first, drive stalls, and out, we had Greg Zerline. It was his first year as Cowboys kicker. Thank you. and he comes out for a field goal, and Brad's calling it's like, and the kick is up, and the ball disappears from the screen.
Starting point is 00:43:01 It's out of our, it's out a line of sight of our thing. And we can see the TV feed, but it's a delay of about seven or eight seconds. And the kick is up, and it's on the way. There it is. And it's angling. And we're all looking at each other with our palms up, like, we don't know, we don't know, we don't know and finally zirlein and anger you know the holder brian anger they're they're high fiving and we're like it's like and it's good you know so it was just all sorts of just crazy things like
Starting point is 00:43:32 that later in the year we had a away game and it was a noon kickoff thank goodness because if it were a 325 or a night game we would have been totally screwed but they did have the monster truck that day that started at three and thank god our game at at Washington ended like at 259.30. Because just as Brad and Babe are hurrying to get off the air. And coming up next from the studio, the postgame show, just as the monster charge. Grave-diggers, revving up for the fourth quarter. Oh, it was like, if that game had gone overtime, you wouldn't have been able to hear a thing.
Starting point is 00:44:14 That might have been the end of bread. We actually put up curtains. We were surrounded because they still have a little bit of, I don't know, pre- game in a monster truck or some warm up, but it wasn't the really, really loud. But we had set up sound walls and extra curtains. And it was like we were, you ever, as a kid, you ever go with your family to like to JCPenney Studios to get your family photo and it's got all the curtains around it and then like a little backdrop. That's what it was kind of like. But anyway, it was just absolutely nuts. Well, I'll have you in Brazil. Yes, I will be in Rio. Both times you said you're like,
Starting point is 00:44:49 So you have to go? Brad just because he has like, it's Brazil. Yes. Now, I do have a story about Brazil. May I share? Okay. Well, it's not really about Brazil. This is going to help Dan's point, I feel like.
Starting point is 00:45:01 No, so I spent a summer in Paraguay. Paraguay is next to Brazil. And Paraguay is not, it doesn't have a beach. It's the only landlocked country in South America. And maybe not as developed as Brazil. And this is also over 35 years ago. But my best friend Kara out of high school had been an exchange student in Paraguay for a summer. Lived with a family there and, you know, is an exchange student.
Starting point is 00:45:30 The next summer, we were in college, but she and I went, and we lived with that same family. And that family would have been middle class, you know, Paraguayan standards. But, you know, like if the family's there had a car, because you're either really rich in Paraguay, probably an escape Nazi war criminal, but you had people who were, who drove Mercedes and BMWs, and then you had everybody else. So if, like our family had a car, but Papa, he used it for work. And so there was about, and this is many years ago, so I don't want any current Paraguayans to get upset with me, but, and my Spanish isn't perfect, so I may have misunderstood part of this, but, If you were one of the 99%, there was probably about a 99% chance that your car had been stolen from Brazil, brought to Paraguay, and resold.
Starting point is 00:46:28 Okay, that's the background. Here's the part where Brazil comes in. There's one really cool thing to do in Paraguay, and that's go to Iwazu Falls, which I believe is the second largest waterfalls in the world behind Victoria Falls, much bigger than Niagara Falls. If you saw the Pixar movie up floating with the balloons, that's Iwazu. Okay? It shares a border with Brazil. So that's the one thing to go and see in Paraguay. But at some point, it was my understanding that you had to cross into Brazil and then work your way down for this viewing area.
Starting point is 00:47:02 Well, if you cross into Brazil with a car that has a 99% chance of maybe it was stolen from Brazil, then you will have that car confiscated. Very long story short, we never made it to Iwazoo Falls because nobody that anybody that we knew in Brazil didn't have a car that for sure had not been stolen. And so we never made it to the waterfalls. We didn't even attempt the trip. No way. I thought you were going to say you drove across the border and Lashire. No way. No way.
Starting point is 00:47:36 We didn't even attempt the trip because they knew they'd get their car confiscated. Good scouting. That's good sideline reporting. So I'm finally going to make it to Brazil, although not to Iwazoo. What's going to happen, guys, is they're going to arrive. We're going to leave almost 24 hours earlier than we would normally leave because they're going to have a workout the entire team on Friday and then do their Saturday walkthrough,
Starting point is 00:48:02 and then we come home immediately after the game. So we'll have an overnight flight home on a Sunday night. On the schedule, it's a 325 kickoff to CBS broadcast. So for all intents and purposes, we're treating it just like any other away game except leaving almost a day earlier just so they could get in on Friday and have a workout down there. You guys are such a – what do you do for your time zone? Because I try to stay on Texas time, but we're only here like a week. You obviously can't do that if you're here a month. But the Dallas Cowboys don't – you know, it would be cool to be one of those teams that just plays at the same.
Starting point is 00:48:41 time every week. Yeah, cool and boring, you know, to be one of, you know, like Cleveland, how many noon games do they get? Yeah, how great is that? Sure. So, well, and also, you know, NFC East teams other than than Dallas, it's short. Sometimes they take the train. Philly to New York. It's faster and easier than taking a flight. And then especially the AFC North teams and the NFC North, super short travel times, and regardless of the Cowboys having to go to Rio. Yeah, I never get acclimated, even though we're here, it's 27 days for training camp this year that we're gone from home, but I'm still waking up at 4.30 in the morning. I can't get sleeping.
Starting point is 00:49:25 Plus, I still have to keep my phone on. I have parents who are elderly. I'm wanting to make sure that I don't miss any phone calls. And so, of course, people are texting and calling, you know, just. on regular Dallas time, not realizing that it's, you know, 5.30 or 6 o'clock in the morning here. So, yeah, so sorry for the bags under my eyes, but, you know, it's just, that's just the way it is. Yeah, that's what we were thinking. You want to let her know your theory on that or is now a bad time? Yeah, what's the theory? What is that? Well, what are you going to do if they hit you up in the
Starting point is 00:49:53 middle of the night, if you find out in the morning? Oh, I was thinking that when you said, because same thing with my mom. He doesn't want to be notified. He's like, I'll find out when I wake up. If someone passes away, that's what we're referring to here. I don't want you to wake me up at three in the morning. Just tell me at seven. What would I do at three in the morning? You could get your flight at 7 a.m. so you could get to the airport and get home center. You're Christie Scales. You can get Flights. Oh, yeah, right. You can get righteous gemstones actors.
Starting point is 00:50:24 Sure. Yeah, I'll get Edie. We can, well, righteous gemstones, each one of them had their own plane. So, uh, on the show. Get on Jerry's jet, can't you? That's what we understand. Do you know what they serve for breakfast on Jerry's, uh, jet? Well, this is just, extra salted McGriddle. No, because, oh, you are so close, but that is not the Cowboys sponsor. Oh, Waterburger?
Starting point is 00:50:48 Waterburger. So what do they serve? I mean, I'm only going to quitos, but I don't know. On Jerry's private jet? Yeah, well, the one time we, um, have you been on Jerry's private jet? I love him so much. Yeah, we had a deal. where this was just like Gus D.C. It was six years, about eight years ago,
Starting point is 00:51:04 the cheerleaders donated, you would say artifacts, but uniform, original sketch of the uniform from 1971 made by Paula Van Wagner. Boots, the cheerleader poster from back in 1978. You guys remember that. Along with the Farah Fawcett poster, then came the Dallas Cowboy cheerleader poster. And I think most guys across the country, had one of those hanging in their room and then a set of palms but anyway um with the in in
Starting point is 00:51:36 washington dc the smithsonian museum of american history uh that's the one that has the ruby red slippers for dorothy wizard of oz has uh george washington's false teeth has the chair all in the family archie bunker's chair anyway the cowboy cheerleaders made a um a donation and so So because I had written a lot of the articles and done a lot of the history for that, I got invited to go with Charlotte and then Kelly and Judy, who were the director and choreographer, and then the four group leaders, we went up there. And it was an up and back day from Washington, D.C. to the Smithsonian. And when we had to leave at, I don't know, 5.30 or 6 in the morning,
Starting point is 00:52:22 and we get on the plane and leaves from Love Field. But anyway, you know, leather. just so nice on the inside. I'm thinking, what are you, boy, are they going to have, like, little kishes or something. And they did. They had, like, nice little, like some croissants and nice little fruit plate and stuff. But it was the bags of breakfast tequitos, and everyone's like, yes.
Starting point is 00:52:44 We talk about this a lot with the new ownership you see in sports and private equity being involved, regardless of what you think of, you know, personnel decisions, whatever. We're going to miss guys like Jerry so much when they're gone. Oh, for sure. just the sort of eccentric, but I don't know. They feel like rich guys are changing. They feel like he has a community mind that I don't know that that's coming around again. I hope it stays because they really do try to give back.
Starting point is 00:53:13 And, you know, like even for the taxpayers of Arlington, they footed the original half of the cost of the stadium and then the overages, it was over a billion dollars. But Jerry had to cover that from when the stadium first opened. but they're very mindful of even to this day. And actually it's, what do you call it, when you bequeat or bestow things for, I want to say in perpetuity, which is forever, but they're still doing a lot of stuff for the Salvation Army,
Starting point is 00:53:43 the Yet Center there. They do a lot. I know everyone jokes about Gene Jones and Charlotte Jones with the artwork in the stadium, and they always have to show it on the national broadcast and stuff, but there's an art program. that generation, you know, now we're on our second generation of students in Arlington, ISD, that get all of the great art and their stuff every year.
Starting point is 00:54:11 There's an art show in the stadium that the Jones has put on. And so, yeah, they do a lot. And what they've done with Frisco is amazing and not just Friscoe, but it's very impressive. And I wish that more of that, more of those kind of stories got covered as much. as some failed free agent signing that didn't quite work out, you know. But, hey, that's life in the big city, and he knows it better than anybody else. Are you the most famous graduate from Lake Highlands High School?
Starting point is 00:54:41 Not at all. What do they got? We got Morgan Fairchild. We got... Yesterday's news. No, no, no, no. Don't say that about Morgan. Chris Harrison of The Bachelor?
Starting point is 00:54:52 Yes, absolutely. Yes. That's probably the big one. St. Vincent. St. Vincent is from Annie. She's from Annie Clark is from Lake Highlands. Let's see. Oh, the actor, oh, gosh, she's in the one with Lee.
Starting point is 00:55:08 Oh, shoot. Scooter. Scooter. Scooter. Scooter McNary. Scooter McNary. Yes, Scooter McNary. Here's one for you, Dan, that I know.
Starting point is 00:55:15 Oh, you would recognize him, character actor and a lot of cool stuff. Dan, lead singer of the butthole surfers and son of Mr. Pepperman. Oh, good friend. Haynes, was a Lake Highlands graduate. I know him well. We've got a lot of cool Lake Highlands. Rich Phillips. Have you got to interface with Christian Parker much?
Starting point is 00:55:39 A little bit. More at the golf tournament and a little bit in line at lunch at the Star. But he is at his advertised. I mean, he's very serious-minded. Yeah. But he's kind of funny, too. And I'm anxious for the weekly coordinator press conferences, because I think as they go along, he's going to loosen up a little more or, you know, show a little bit of personality.
Starting point is 00:56:08 I mean, he's so young and his reference. I think he's great. But I can tell you that behind the scenes, this whole offseason at the star, and when I say behind the scenes, I'm talking about, you know, there's a side of building that's football ops and so the people on that side that I've known for a long time Mike McCarthy used to refer to them as the bartenders because they're the people who really know what's going on and people can fight in and they know and that's like the trainers and the equipment managers you know team doctors football ops scouting they have the heartbeat of what's going on and a lot of them have been there
Starting point is 00:56:50 as long or longer than me this is my 36th season and with Cowboys Radio. But when they are genuinely excited about something or notice a change, that's when it kind of like confirms what I'm thinking. And the positive vibe on the offensive side of the ball last year, the previous year going into 2025 with the new blood, the new coaches coming in and hey, this really seems to be coming together. We can feel that there's a difference.
Starting point is 00:57:18 That's how it's been this year for defensive side of the ball. I think it's interesting because you look at the way the coaching staff has been developed these past two years. Shottie with the offensive side of the ball, he was bringing in guys that hadn't worked together before. Connor Riley, the offensive line coach, was from Kansas State. Junior Adams, your wide receivers coach, came from Oregon. Guys that hadn't even coached at the NFL level, guys that hadn't coached together. Usually, you know, you bring like a Mike McCarthy in, and he's bringing, you know, getting the band back together, and most of them worked with him in Green Bay or, you know, other places, and they all had, like, relationships.
Starting point is 00:58:01 And yet on the offensive side of the ball last year, even though these guys were really young, and a lot of them hadn't coached in the NFL before, they all coalesced and it really came together. This year, that's what's taken place on the defensive side of the ball. And yes, Christian's really young. He hadn't worked with most of the guys who have some. coming straight out of college and yet everyone's real excited and it's really come together and it's impressed people in player personnel and in scouting impress the bartenders so to speak and so that's what made me think coming into this camp that hey this really could be not just better than last year but
Starting point is 00:58:39 this could really build into something really cool for the next several years now i'm not predicting that they're going to be a top 10 defense but all this thought of oh if they were just had an average defense last year to go with that offense. It could have been a playoff contender, and I think that's true. But I think they are building something special with that defense, and they've really done a great job of collecting the coaching talent, and those guys have really worked well together thus far. So I think it bodes well for this season. I'm excited for those weeklies as well. I listened to his interview with Peter Schrager, and he got him for about 40 minutes, and he got him talking a little bit. He is cool. He is cool. He taught me a
Starting point is 00:59:19 phrase I've never heard. He said, I tell our guys, I don't want him to be Maytag players, which means you're only good when it's 68 degrees and everything's working. I'm like, oh, that's an old school thing to say. Yeah, he's an old soul, isn't he? He seems very old soul. We didn't hear as much from Clayton Adams last year. Probably he's not, you know, he's not calling plays. The offense was expected to be good again, but I kind of view them as a as a joint deal. And the reason I say that is if you look at their track records, their Wikipedia pages. I'm not sure that there's a more two guys who have more like hard, hard luck earned stories as coordinators in the NFL. They don't have dads. They don't have,
Starting point is 00:59:57 they weren't big time players, they weren't. And it is very shocking to me because I'm a cowboy fan. And even though I like Shottie, Shottie's the type of guy the Cowboys would hire. He's comfortable to them. He's an NFL, you know, family. Christian Parker and Clayton Adams are is out of left field as any two coordinators, I feel like they've had in 25 years. And at the same time, and Shottie hired them. That's the part I can't make sense of. Yeah, it's the outside the box thinking. Yeah, from what seems like an inside-the-box hire in Shottie.
Starting point is 01:00:28 Right. And I think what's great about Shottie is, other than Jason Garrett, shoddy is the one that most gets it, that understands what Jason Garrett would say comes with the dinner of being the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. all the ancillary P.T. Barnum Circus things that, and it's not just that they play so many night games, and of course they want them to be the team for the first game in Rio. Yes, I know the NFL has played in Brazil. The previous two years, that was Sal Paolo. This is the first game in Rio. Anyway, but there's a lot that comes with the dinner. And not all coaches buy into that, Mike McCarthy.
Starting point is 01:01:11 and, you know, they'll put up with it, right? I mean, but they don't really have a true understanding. But Jason knew it because he, you know, had his playing career with the team and knows the Jones family. And then Shottie had just enough of a taste of it as the, remember, he was a consultant here. And so he saw it. I know. Consultants, anything with radio and podcasts. That doesn't.
Starting point is 01:01:40 Yeah, I gave up. fly as high as it does. I gave up on Wild Card Hunt a long time ago. We call that in the chase. We don't even try that one anymore. Okay. But also just Shottie's personality, just how, you know, laid back and positive and everything's great, you know, everything is awesome kind of guy.
Starting point is 01:01:59 He's got the family vibe and they want that. Yes. Yes. And so, and he gets it. Now, does that mean that you absolutely love all of the extra things that come with it? Not necessarily, but I do a lot of the. corporate events, you know, like I should say corporate partnership stuff, get asked to MC or help with things and stay pretty busy in the offseason
Starting point is 01:02:23 just doing stuff like that. And so I've done several of these types of things with Coach Schottenheimer where you have like a Q&A with guests coming in. And Shottie's great. He really is. And that's one reason why I just want so much success. I love Clayton Adams too. You know, his daughters, their soccer, they're younger.
Starting point is 01:02:42 It's that these coaches have young families because they're young. And I'm not sure if C.P. I'm not sure if Parker, he's not married and had kids. I think he still may be living in the hotel. I don't even know if he's moved into a place yet. Yeah, he seems like a guy. I like hearing of it. Yeah, we recently watched.
Starting point is 01:03:00 I don't want a family man. You know, we watched the gambler recently. And I think there wasn't enough made. T.C. and I have been obsessed with this incident of Jimmy Johnson just saying, yeah, I divorced my wife because I became the coach of the Cowboys. And when I hear Christian Parker talk, I'm like, this guy seems like... As a fan, that's what you want to hear. He might know about one other thing, shoes, and that's about it.
Starting point is 01:03:20 Yeah. Yeah. And music. He's good with the music. Yeah. Yeah, I hear you. I love it. Oh, yeah, y'all enjoyed that gambler. It's so funny because, like, last year, and Michael's like talking about, you know, the incident in Wichita Falls, stabbing with the scissors. It's like, we kept that secret for years, you know, and now you're telling it to... Or we, not secret, we kept it. You didn't just talk about it all the time. Yes, that was.
Starting point is 01:03:42 It's not like every time you talked to Michael Irving, you're on parole. You're like, who in 19? Yeah. But that, now that was fun last year. They had a blue carpet premiere out here at about this point of camp. And it was down on Hollywood Boulevard. And it was there at the Egyptian, which is a classic theater, old Hollywood. And it was really neat.
Starting point is 01:04:05 And I guess because I've. I hated to sound like this. Not everybody got invited to it, but because I'm on the little bit on the Netflix show for the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, I guess I got included on the invitation list. And so it's like, telling PR it's like, why didn't you tell us that this was going to happen? Because it was the one year that I didn't bring sandals and like a nice little thing. So it's like, now I've got to find an outfit for, they called it instead of red carpet, a blue carpet premiere for this Netflix thing on Hollywood Boulevard. It's just like, oh, crap, now I've got to find something to wear.
Starting point is 01:04:39 I mean, not like gowns or anything like that. It's not that fancy. So I go down to Ventura. Grab a cowboy cheerleader out there. Yeah, well, we'll see that you're, well, you know, I really hate taking pictures with the girls because it's just not fair to body shame them that way. Right. Yeah, I know. It must be, I see it in their comments too.
Starting point is 01:04:57 This is the only scene from the waist up, right, on this podcast. Yeah. Yeah, I really hate to body shame those girls. No. It's tough for them. So, and the cheerleaders were there, you know, for. for the event. I think the maybe like eight or ten of them were out there.
Starting point is 01:05:10 That was really cool. But now I've got to find an outfit. So I go down to Ventura. And the one thing that they have out here on the West Coast, they love these resale and vintage shops. And so I find this resale and so there I was.
Starting point is 01:05:26 It was a cute little sundress, but I had to go buy some sandals and stuff and just a little clutch and stuff. But in my $4 sundress from a Ventura downtown resale shop. $4. $4.
Starting point is 01:05:39 That is what we call a first down. Yeah. On our show. Moving the ball. Yeah. Yeah. It was fine. I thought, oh, I need to bring it out here for the...
Starting point is 01:05:47 First down. Thank you so much. Was that Red Cashing? That's Jerome Bogar, I think. That's Jerome Bogar. That was the effeminate Southern Bell ref. Oh, my God. We didn't call it effeminate, just the Southern Bell ref.
Starting point is 01:06:00 I called them Jerome Bogar. Yeah, yeah. No, I mean, we're always sad when, like, guys with the personality retire. Yeah, Red was from College Station. I'm an Aggie, but anyway,
Starting point is 01:06:12 so he was from College Station. And of all things, he owned a Christmas shop down there for years and years. Cashin Keynes, I think, something like that. Cash and Kane. Anyway, but yeah,
Starting point is 01:06:23 love Red. Loved him. Why the feeling that, so McCarthy, you just felt like he wasn't totally bought into the way? Well, you know, you do what you have to do.
Starting point is 01:06:35 He wanted to coach football? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, I like Mike very much. Yeah, yeah. Actually, one of my, it was right, like, right here is where we are on the tennis court. It's probably my favorite Mike McCarthy story. We would, so this would have been two years ago, no, three years ago, because we were walking in for a press conference. And I think we maybe had had the day off before. And anyway, day. But Mike said something like, oh yeah media's going to be yeah the day off yesterday everyone's going to be and he's like what did you do last night and i'm like oh well um beach boys were playing at ventura county fair he's like beach that's the only time he really stopped and he like literally stopped in his tracks beach boys i love the beach boys one the sloop john b my grandfather and he's starting to sing sloop john b right there and and i'm like of all of the random beach boys song right Luke John B.
Starting point is 01:07:36 That's a bit a little down the capital. I'm like, I wouldn't pick a Pittsburgh guy to be a big Beach Boys fan. And he's like, well, I'm Catholic school. And Sister Mary Agnes was our choir teacher, and she loved the Beach Boys. So we sang all the Beach Boys songs. So anyway, I'm like, well, they play a lot. To hear McCarthy sing that? I said they've played here before.
Starting point is 01:08:02 I'll let you know if they play next year. He's like, yeah, yeah, I do. And then, you know, then we've got to walk. to get to the press conference. So the next year, Beach Boys play again, but the different version. This is the one, not with Brian, but the one, actually John Stamos was playing with him that year.
Starting point is 01:08:17 I think I was at that one. Were you at that one? Yeah. Wasn't there like one real Beach Boy or something? Yes, uh-huh, because everybody else is gone or over with Brian. Yeah, everybody was complaining. It was still a great show, right? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:08:27 I had a gummy. You see what I deal with here? Every question. I don't know. It probably sucks. It was even better with the gummy. Thank you very much. But I had sent Mike and then his secretary, Laura, a note saying,
Starting point is 01:08:41 hey, I know you have a try and do one night out with the coaches every year, but I wanted to let you know Beach Boys is going to be on this date. And it didn't work out for the night that he could get out there. But anyway. You let them know. So that's my Mike McCarthy story is Sloop John B. So now whenever, of course, Ohio State plays that, right? They're banned.
Starting point is 01:09:01 Anyway, whenever I hear Sloop John B, I think about Mike. It's random. Isn't it weird? How very little, you know, ask about somebody, and it very rarely has to do with football. It's always some kind of silly thing, you know, away from the field, at least for me. Or, oh, what about that trip that you guys had to London or whatever?
Starting point is 01:09:19 I couldn't really tell you anything that happened in the game. But, you know, went to three soccer matches and two shows in Piccadilly, so I can tell you about that, but I don't remember what happened in the game. What's Blake Jones like on the road? Actually, he's a lot of fun. Oh, I did not expect that. I expect you just say, I don't know. He just like, stay out of the way.
Starting point is 01:09:40 Don't even know he's there. No, I don't think so. I've never seen that. Yeah, that's but thing. You didn't see him at the media party the other night. When he's not us, when he's compass media. You didn't either. You're across the street.
Starting point is 01:09:50 But I walked in and I saw him immediately start. He moves and shakes. Exactly. When he knows he's not going to be razzed on the dumb zone for whatever he does. It's funny how that'll happen. What happens on the charter stays on the charter. Right? Right, right?
Starting point is 01:10:04 Yes. Yeah, road trips. So, anyway, no. But it's cool. Where do you sit on the plane? Who do you sit next, do you? Usually, babe. And what do you call that?
Starting point is 01:10:15 You have that thing that separates. There's like that divider that separates the business class from the start of the coach section. Okay. So whatever that front row is there. Yeah. Yeah. You're in business? No, I'm not in business.
Starting point is 01:10:29 Oh, the front of the back. The front of the back. Oh, the front of the back. Okay, you're close enough. Sometimes it depends what the road trip is. I mean, I've sat a couple times in business. But, you know, there's so many. Where's he?
Starting point is 01:10:41 They're 27 coaches now. You put him in the very back next to the toilet? Just a few rows behind. Yeah. We're in the same section. Yeah, we're all in the same section. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:50 And it's just, I think it's kind of by seniority. Does the Wi-Fi work for you? Jeez. Rarely. See? Rarely. It's not just me. Rarely.
Starting point is 01:11:01 Listen to these entitled cowboys. I don't think that this plays PC-wise anymore. But when I was a kid, my mom used to say to me, you would bitch if you were hung with a new rope. And this is what I have here. This guy's on the Cowboys Charter flying to what? Free food. Free food.
Starting point is 01:11:16 He's with Christie Scales. There's Brad and Babe. And he's like, why isn't my laptop connecting to the space cloud information thing? Don't give me the Wi-Fi code if it's not going to work. It's unbelievable. No, it's very actually. Kids these days. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:31 I know. They're spoiled. I remember when we, hey, I remember, because my first flights on the team charter were, what, 92 or 93? My first year I was in the studio. Anyway, you didn't have the monitors, certainly not in the back of the seat, but even that. And so everyone would play cards. And I was always sitting next to Hanson, Dale Hanson, because I would have to sit in the middle seat next to Dale Hanson. But everyone was playing blackjack or poker, and it was fun.
Starting point is 01:11:58 Those were fun. Now they're more business flights, right? People are, they've either got their own tablet or iPad or something or watching the movies on the back that or working, right, doing work. And so it's quiet. It's a business trip, but it used to be fun when or lose. And sometimes if it got a little fun after a loss, Jimmy would come back and there was one time we didn't get to eat.
Starting point is 01:12:27 That's awesome. Oh, you've never heard that story? The whole flight, go on. The whole flight? You've never heard that story? Go on. I love to hear it. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:32 the Cowboys had lost. I was an NFC East game. I can't remember which one. But anyway, and it was not like super boisterous, but there was maybe just a few chuckles, a little bit of laughter from the back. The player said at the far back of the plane. Was this the year they won the Super Bowl?
Starting point is 01:12:48 Because I know they lost in Washington one year. It might have been 93. Okay. It might have been 93. It could have been 92. Anyway, but he didn't like any kind of chuckling or, you know, after a, disappointing loss that should have won that game.
Starting point is 01:13:04 He came back and let him have it and we didn't, and he told the flight attendants to not serve anybody. So we all went hungry that game. Anybody. Wow. Yeah, because we're in the back of the plane with the players. And now that you have the reconfigured planes, the first class is the coaches and executives, although the Joneses usually fly on their private jets. but then you have like the business or super business whatever like the pods where you sleep kind of thing
Starting point is 01:13:36 and it's by seniority among players so and that's not just like dac prescott but also Trent SIG do you know who Trent SIG is absolutely we're special what position does he play he's our long snapper he's our long snapper that's right so you would think why does the long snapper get to sit in in the extra business class or whatever well because it's it's seniority with the team and then the younger guys are in the back of the plane. What's interesting is when it's preseason and you have 91 players. That's when he has to fly on his own flight. He doesn't get to fly with you guys.
Starting point is 01:14:14 Exactly right. And they also, there's a rule in the back of the plane, you know how you have three seats together, aisle, and then, what is it, four seats, aisle, and then three seats. The way that it is during regular seats, season is the players will share, you know, an aisle, but they'll have a seat, an empty seat in between them. Well, when it's preseason and you have 91 players, you don't get that luxury. So you might be Shiraz Pete, 6'9 guard, first Navajo to ever sign with an NFL team, by the way.
Starting point is 01:14:51 And he's in the back in the coach seat, just like everybody else. So you got little me, 5 foot three, I'm fine in the coach seat. and then you've got six-foot-nine Shiraz, and he's having to fold up, you know, like a sardine and a sardin can. All for the dream. All for the dream. I'm reading this recap of Week 15 in 1992, so they had won. Is this the game?
Starting point is 01:15:18 Yeah, it's the game. Is this our no meal game? They were 11 and 2. I'm in a brain fog. We didn't get to eat. They're 11 and 2. Yeah, Week 15. You didn't get to eat after 11 and 2.
Starting point is 01:15:27 11 and 2 and then they lost as Emmett Smith recovered a fumble in his own end zone in the fourth quarter, he threw the ball, and it was intercepted by a Washington safety for the Washington winning touchdown. Emmett threw the ball? He fumbled in the end zone, picked up the ball and threw it. Just trying to get it out of the end zone. And it was pick sixth, and it says here, a vivid Jimmy Johnson railed at his players on the flight home and all the stories. That's it. The game write-ups are about Jimmy on the plane.
Starting point is 01:15:53 Yeah. Oh, my God, I'll never. Yeah. That was bad. They lost 20 to 17. They were up. No one was playing blackjack. Wow, that's great stuff.
Starting point is 01:16:06 And having Christy Scales here is great stuff. Wow. What a day. Thanks, fellas. Thank you. Oh, my gosh. Has it been 45 minutes? Now, what are you going to do?
Starting point is 01:16:13 It's fun. Oh, they actually have a Von Miller press conference. So I can only have three drinks. Is they having it right here? It's going to be at 1145 Pacific. So it's going to be behind you. Okay. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 01:16:24 So you got an hour. It's an hour for you. Why don't we run a break and regroup? 11.4. I don't know. Okay. I don't know how to do math on the time. It's difficult.
Starting point is 01:16:35 Yeah. It's difficult. So is that why Dan never did music radio? Because he couldn't back time. I couldn't back time anything. I couldn't hit the post. If he gets locked in, he can do anything. But the problem is that our show goes over the noontime mark.
Starting point is 01:16:49 So we do a lot of like. Noontime Pacific? Well, we're already past noon time. Central. So now it's do we add two here? We adding two. It's a whole thing. but don't you worry
Starting point is 01:16:59 your pretty little head, Christy's saying. Thank you so much. That's the great Christy scales. All right. Thanks guys. All right. Yes.
Starting point is 01:17:08 Well, let's just plug PlumQuick one more time. Plumquick Company.com. That is our title sponsor for being out here at training camp. 469-331-3669. So our break will actually be content. That's how power-packed we are. So we did an interview yesterday after practice ended.
Starting point is 01:17:30 It is Camden Brown. He is the hottest receiver in the NFL right now. And that'll be today's break. And then we'll talk to you guys in a minute. Camden Brown is our guy here. Camden Brown in the tent here at Camp. The man, the man that all of the NFL is talking about. He has put the NFL on notice.
Starting point is 01:17:55 Do you look at the headlines? Are you looking at like the... Don't look at the Internet, right? Nah, you got to stay off of it because you got to keep the main thing, the main thing. I remember, like, when I was at Arbor and everybody praising you, and, like, you got to just keep the main thing to main thing. So you got to keep the main thing, the main thing,
Starting point is 01:18:13 and circle to circle. So, shoot, everybody praising you, but you got to still got a job to do. Yeah. They wouldn't make you come over here and talk to us if you hadn't made plays, right? You know what I'm saying? Comes with it.
Starting point is 01:18:23 Could that have gone any, like, things are going very, very well for you. Right. So, but I guess it would be too early to say congratulations, right? Right. But what a game. Thank you. How fun was, I mean, it's. Nah, it was fun.
Starting point is 01:18:39 What an atmosphere? Super Bowl champs, big atmosphere. That's got to be awesome. Nah, yeah, it was most definitely, like, like, memorable, like, very, very thankful, very, very appreciative. And strong gratitude towards. because it can always be worse. Just thankful, give thanks to the Lord, and just continue to go out there every single day
Starting point is 01:18:59 to be the best version of myself. And, shoot, you can do it in a preseason game where you can put the whole world on notice. That's a blessing itself. And just continue to come out here with a chip on my shoulder and keep going. That's the mindset. So, yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:13 And the reports out of camp before Saturday, before we got here were a lot of them were about you. So I'm sure it was nice to see it come through with the lights on. Everybody's talking about the two big plays. And I want to get to the... So I've seen you make the catch against USC for a score that was very similar. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:32 Although that one was like play side, this one. Did you think there was any chance you're getting the ball on Saturday on that backside? I mean, you kept running. With a one hand? Oh, yeah. I was in a boundary. Okay. So I was like, yeah, I'm about to probably get this one.
Starting point is 01:19:45 It was a PI that they didn't call. Yeah, sometimes just got to be the man. Don't look for the flag. Like the way me and my best friend, Ravado Fairweather, we go by, we go by, it ain't never the quarterback fault. So we got to make it happen. So we got to keep the main thing, the main thing, and just go get the ball. The one hand definitely went and got the ball. But I feel like that's stuff that they know you can do.
Starting point is 01:20:10 Yeah. To me, just the simple dig, like breaking flat, great route. Milton has a cannon through traffic. That was the play where I felt like, he might make, this is real. Yeah. This is not like, you know, because you can do one-hand stuff. Yeah. Practice, that just felt like, all right, he's in the flow of the offense.
Starting point is 01:20:27 That looked like the one you were the most proud of. Yeah, not. Out of anything, that was probably the most proud of because I feel like people think I'm just a deep threat. I can run routes. I can get separation. It's about doing the little things. And I feel like being here with CD, being here with GP, talking to DAC, talking to Sam and things that nature, talking to Joe, talking to all those guys and getting ways to like create more separation in your
Starting point is 01:20:52 routes because we're in the league it's not college it's not there's not high school where you can do little things but you got to really harp on the details when you're doing all those stuff and that's something I always been focused on since I've been here just running routes and creating separation I feel that that's the main thing for my growth so on that drive you had a pretty good block to free your quarterback Sam Howell and you know a lot of receiver coaches when they see you blocking downfield they will put in a word of hey let's reward this guy so I feel like your success started maybe on a play that a lot of people didn't notice yeah um true I yeah I say just gaining a trust and practice and I say from the preparation piece
Starting point is 01:21:31 from anything where you go it's about the way you wake up and that's how I always that's how I always carry it from the way I wake up when I wake up with a great mindset great things happen in my life when when I wake up with a I got to go do this. today things don't go too well so keep the main thing the main thing and prepare prepare like you about to get the ball and gaining the trust and communication communication been the biggest piece since I've been here to gain the quarterback's attention um because they don't know me they didn't know me at first when I first got here so it's about the little things about communicating how you how you like the ball getting thrown to you um just the small details will always harp when you're
Starting point is 01:22:11 a receiver so jack knows you now yeah he know me now Shottie knows you. Yeah, they're. How about Jerry? Does Jerry know you by sight yet? I don't know. You'll know, right? You'll know when Jerry.
Starting point is 01:22:26 Why the Cowboys? You signed undrafted for Agent. How many teams were hitting you up? I can't even remember. Or is why the Cowboys? Because they were the ones that called. Probably so. Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 01:22:38 And it was the great opportunity to learn from the vets that was always in the room. And knowing your role in a way, because I feel like this takes me back to Arborin when I was there, when I was there with Cam Coleman, Keandra Lambert Smith. And I just had to fill out my role in a way. So when I came here, it was never know, like I'm that guy. I know my role. So that's what's filling me out right now is just knowing my role in a way.
Starting point is 01:23:08 So that's the whole thing. That's got to be weird because you're star in high school, right? then you got to all of a sudden turn into, and same thing. Star at Georgia Southern, great year, and then now you're like back to the bottom of the roster. And it's like when I think about everything, every chapter is always a resart. So when you're in high school, everybody praising you, four star out of high school, late four star. everybody praising you and then you go to college. It's a whole restart, but nobody don't really know you.
Starting point is 01:23:46 Only the people in your state probably know you at the time. And then you're going on national stage. So college, everything going well and things that nature. Then you go to the NFL. It's a whole new chapter. So everywhere you go, no matter where you're at, it's a new start where it's a fresh start. Everything starts over. So you got a fresh start where you got a clean sleigh.
Starting point is 01:24:07 You just got to harp on the details and stuff like that. So when y'all have a new job and y'all go from another state from a new job, so it's like, y'all go do that. And then y'all get a new job, y'all got to have a whole, it's a whole different environment that y'all walk into. So it's just about the details and harping on the new environment. So I'm from Louisiana, and I originally played football in South Florida. So the changes, every time I moved, it was always good for me.
Starting point is 01:24:35 I saw you played in the Hula Bowl, and I got really excited because this guy just went to Hawaii, and I'm like, oh, cool, you guys can talk about Hawaii. But it was in Orlando. It's in Florida. What are we doing? That's the other way. Yeah, there's a beach. I think it used to be.
Starting point is 01:24:59 Not in Orlando. I guess it's probably, I don't know anything about Florida. I think it used to be in Hawaii, though. But it was a great experience out there. I'm glad they took a chance on me. It actually prepared me better to go early and go January 5th and then harp on the pro day stuff on combined training early and then not go to another game because it would have been messing up with my training.
Starting point is 01:25:25 Yeah. Listen, I... So I was good. The fact that you guys have to get ready for two months to do stuff to prove that you can play football that's not playing football and then you have to stop doing that to get ready to play football again is insane. It's like preparing for a test that you're not going to take it your job. Like you have to stop football lifting and running to get your 40 right, I guess to get your 10-yard split right. And it's like I can't play right now. This is not how I would play. It drives me crazy,
Starting point is 01:25:52 but that's another issue. It feels like you're up for a big moment. So you had to, I mean, this weekend, your first time, you know, big games, the big game against Marshall that got you guys into a bowl, right? And then you did well in that hula bowl that's not in Hawaii, unfortunately. But I don't know. It's kind of weird. It seems like more pressure. You're actually, you don't shy from it.
Starting point is 01:26:16 So that's not a bad thing. Yeah. Stay calm in the chaos. That's how I always heart by my receiver coach at Georgia Southern, BJ Johnson. He always be so calm. And that's contagious, you know. And I feel like you can't be too big for the moment.
Starting point is 01:26:32 And every day you step out on the field, it can't be too big for you. You just got to keep the main thing and the main thing. Harp on the details. And don't get too rowdy. When you're overthinking, things can go bad for you. So keep the main thing to main thing. Which BJ Johnson? He played in Texas?
Starting point is 01:26:49 No, no. He played at Georgia Southern. Okay. Yeah, yeah. South Grand Prairie had a BJ Johnson. He's from South Carolina. Okay. Yeah, he had Tulsa now, though.
Starting point is 01:26:56 Okay. I'll receive coach at Tulsa. So, as Araucoo moves off 41 to 6. Let's just talk like you've made the team. What number are we looking at? If six is taken. It don't matter. Were you doing 80 for me, like an 80s number?
Starting point is 01:27:13 Is that just so? There's just no chance? I don't know. We'll see. I don't know. If anybody can do it, it's you because you look like a guy who 10 years ago. Yeah, if I go 80, I go 80, I go 80. But if I go a smaller number, I go a smaller number.
Starting point is 01:27:26 Which one? I don't know. Whatever open up? That's a tricky thing. Because for a big receiver, there's certain numbers. I just, six looks good. Nah, six do look good. It's really good.
Starting point is 01:27:37 But it's taken, man. So when you were in, you were at Georgia Southern? How long were you, Georgia Southern? I was at Georgia Southern for a year. A year. Roll the dice on myself. Probably the best opportunity, best decision I ever made in my college career. I'm standing in Arvin for three years.
Starting point is 01:27:54 Finish out of Georgia Southern. Clay Hilton, great guy. USC's Clay. Yeah. What did you just think? I'm going to get more. more reps, more chance to show what I can do or what? Yeah, I need an opportunity.
Starting point is 01:28:06 I wouldn't be here, standing here with you guys, if I'm over here catching 10 balls a year. It's not going to give me where I got to go. And me, the type of guy am, I'm going to compete. That's who I am. I'm going to compete. That's just who I am. And I'm going to enjoy the process,
Starting point is 01:28:24 but once it was time, it was time. So me rolling a dice for my last year was never about money for me. And I was like, I'm going to roll the dice on myself because this is what I got to do. Be the best version of myself. And I believed in Ryan Applin and Clayhleton offense. I believe everything they said to me in my recruiting. It was never about the program.
Starting point is 01:28:46 I was like, if the NFL for me, NFL for me, I know what God got for me. So I'm here and I'm blessed and I'm thankful. So just believing it. So, yeah. Two quick things. Can you feel the guardian cap on your helmet? Like if you took it off, can you feel that it comes? comes off?
Starting point is 01:29:01 Nah. No, I don't really feel it. Some people say it's heavy, but. That's what I was wondering. I just, I don't know. I just be playing football a bit, though. I mean, if you got to wear it, you'll wear it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:15 And then this is the last one. I want you to take this to the offensive meeting room, okay? Saturday night, it was Seahawks had the ball. Into the first quarter, right? This is something that drives me crazy. We're going to go up in hard count, but we're never going to snap the ball before the end of the quarter. Teams need to snap the ball with two or three seconds left in the quarter. I do that in
Starting point is 01:29:34 Madden. Of course you do. Look at everything all your coaches do in Madden now. It's what we did in Madden 20 years ago. Why are we even hard counting? Jalen Milrow comes to the line and we're like there's seven seconds here. I think it's called like game management that way. But imagine me personally I'm gonna go for a shot. Keep them off guard. Yeah. Off balance. But that's that's I don't know in madden though I'll do it but not in reality I won't do it. What are we doing here with camp? I don't know if you call it hazing still, but making the rookies do stuff,
Starting point is 01:30:09 whether it carry pads or singing songs. I got some great vets. They're great people. Probably the most I ever done was probably buy snacks. That's probably it. But it's been a great environment. That's cool. They are great people.
Starting point is 01:30:24 You know the Des Bryant story? His rookie year, they were like time of carry. Des is tweeting at you. See that? That's awesome. Yeah, yeah. Now, Des actually came and talked to us in the summer. I asked him a lot of questions.
Starting point is 01:30:36 He probably remember who I am now, but I asked him a lot of questions. They asked Des to carry pads, and he said, yeah. That's not really my bit. And he's my favorite player of all time. Yeah, it is what it is. But I feel like you got to just pay your dudes and just keep it rolling. He was doing it in different ways. You know, Des, once the training camp talk was about the fact that,
Starting point is 01:30:59 that he owned a monkey. Yeah. And that was his pet. Could you see that in your future? Is that a Camden Brown? Are you from the country like Monroe? Like, you've been around some animals. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:31:11 I've been around some animals. Horses. Yeah? Yeah. Nah. No exotic animals. Monkey is not in your future? No, no, no.
Starting point is 01:31:19 I got a dog and that's it. Frenchie named Louis. Louis B. Would you, okay, settle one thing for us then? Because I know we're wrapping it up. You got to get out of here. What do you got going tonight?
Starting point is 01:31:32 What do we do at camp at night? You just practiced all day. Then you went, worked out. Now you're doing this. Yeah. This is a waste of your time. Then what are you doing? Then we're eating.
Starting point is 01:31:43 Yeah, right now, I'm going to go eat. Did we do any studying? What do we do it now? I'm going to go eat right now. Harp on these means. And to be honest with y'all, we really been honest. Like, once I'm in that room, I stay in the room and study my plays and harp on the details and talk to my people. to talk to family friends, but...
Starting point is 01:32:00 Maybe beating an 11-year-old and Madden. No, I ain't on that matter right now. Yeah, I ain't on that matter right now. Yeah. No, do you shower with your dog? No, I ain't shower on my dad. That's not how you ask that question at all. This is how you ask the question.
Starting point is 01:32:15 So sometimes, and you know, you're young... That's how I clean my dog. I sometimes... Man, no. Not every time. I have a lab. I don't take the dog to get bathed at the professional every time. Sometimes dog gets muddy.
Starting point is 01:32:26 I got to bathe the dog in the shower. I wear a bathing suit. No, that ain't it. He wears no bathing suit. I just go shower. See, that's what I'm saying. You have to present. There's a lot, though.
Starting point is 01:32:39 But bathe the dog. That's so dirty. Why? I can't even lie to you. Do you feel you'd be too attracted to your dog? It's not even attracted. You got hair on you already. You're about to get more dog hair on you that's not even getting cleaned up.
Starting point is 01:32:54 It goes down the train ice, too. My dog don't need to lay in my bed. No, no, listen, I'm not that type of white. I want to get it. He does. Shout with your dog is insane. That's crazy. Like, no.
Starting point is 01:33:08 I'm not talking about 30. We're killing so many birds with one stone there. We're cleaning the dog. I use a washcloth. These guys just use a bar of soap. Nah, that's called lazy. Oh, come on. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 01:33:20 I don't do that no more. What's your wife say? My wife? I don't know. I don't look at it. He only has that dog, dude. I'm only attracted to the dog now. We're pulling for you, man.
Starting point is 01:33:32 Awesome to meet you. Great, good luck to you, and hopefully we're sitting down here next year and we'll do it again. See you. Thank you. Yeah, have a good one. All right, there he is. That is Camden Brown. Good times.
Starting point is 01:33:45 Good times, indeed. You're listening to The Dumb Zone. There you go. The Cowboys Camp coverage brought to you by Plum Quick, Parlay Collective, and Puddle Pools. You go to puddlepools.com slash dumbzone. Get yourself signed up for their monthly bit. You know, the cleaning, kind of everything. They take care of everything at puddlepools.com slash dumb zone.
Starting point is 01:34:20 Peace of mind is what you're getting there. What I really like to say about them is they keep the main thing, the main thing. They'll harp on the details. Yeah. I love that guy. Camden Brown? I was telling Mac Graham before. it's kind of fun when you
Starting point is 01:34:39 I don't know, when you get old in life but he was very nervous to talk to us and when you see somebody who's very young and very nervous to talk to you, even though they're like, you know, much more higher Q rating than you. And then you can kind of get to settle him down, you know? It's like meeting a lady or something.
Starting point is 01:34:58 It's like, hey, it's going to be cool, man. We're having fun here. It's okay. Here, have a drink. Yeah. There's a little something in there for it. I have a story in the news about here's something of the drink. Anyways, yeah, he was, he warmed up to us and it was fun. So, initially, I just, I think I, my whole life, and in fact, I once gotten a shake-joint
Starting point is 01:35:16 yelling match with Sean Bass over this, I've always just hated how much we overreact to preseason. I feel like it's a product of the NFL content machine. I don't think it, I think it's like horse race covering politics. I think it produces bad takes. You've heard that in politics before, right? covering it like a horse rate. It's what?
Starting point is 01:35:39 He's ahead. Now he's ahead. Now he's ahead. Now he's ahead. And it's like, no, it's the same. And I think it changes the way we talk about it. It must be especially now that starters don't play in the preseason. Oh, yeah, because you've got even less, but you have to do the same thing with it.
Starting point is 01:35:53 And so I've always just been, I'm not reacting to the preseason, basically at all. Now, there are situations like this where you have an entirely new defense system-wise where it might make some sense to look at what they're running at a very basic level because they can't hide their base defense. It's going to be different than last year. But a guy making like a circus catch or having three big runs, like how many times have you seen that in a guy not make the team? 95% of them, I would say. He, Camden Brown, though, happens to find himself in a very fortuitous situation, which is you can argue the wisdom of having $60, $65, $70 million tied up in your top two wide receivers. But I don't think anybody would argue that once you do that, the rest of them have to be very cheap, like the cheapest possible.
Starting point is 01:36:53 And so you're going to fill the rest of the room out. Terp's got a spot because he's a return specialist, but they've got, you know, in years past, I don't know. It just seems like in years past, there was a lot of guys fighting to be, you know, like, that were fighting to be the two or the three who were really four, five, six guys.
Starting point is 01:37:16 Now, they really only need somebody to be a five or six guy. Well, they're locked in for four, right? With the, uh, Furnoy and Turp. CD Pickens, Fleurneau, and, uh, Turpin. Yeah. So now you're on Mingo.
Starting point is 01:37:30 You're, so all these other guys are fighting for one. spot? You could see a situation where they have two because of Turpin. Okay, so if, if warranted, but that would be tough because you got to do that across the roster, right? Yeah. All right, so let's just see who do we have. Marquez Valdez Scantling, I thought when they signed him, that's probably the guy. It's been hurt all camp, might not have anything left. Yeah, I don't know what how much he had overall anyway. Right. Mingo.
Starting point is 01:38:07 That's kind of the big wild card, right? Yeah. Is it because... I don't think since Parcells have they shown a... You know, the ability to get rid of a guy once they have them in their building and they just know that... I know, even though we spend a lot on them, we just want to get rid of them. So that's part of the tapestry.
Starting point is 01:38:31 that that is the Dallas Cowboys. There's no doubt. If your owner behind everyone's back made a trade because he thought it could be a steal, and then it wasn't, how many years do you have to kind of like make sure that it wasn't? Yeah, and I don't. This is year three. I can't stand that sort of sunk cost thinking. But the same guy or operation or administration that might over-index that sort of sunk-cost thinking,
Starting point is 01:38:59 I think they might also overreact to one guy making two huge catches in a preseason game and everyone being like, hey, this guy's story's great. I think they see, hey, there's a story in Camden Brown too. So I don't know that it's too much of an advantage or when we're waiting the intangibles.
Starting point is 01:39:20 I wish stories really didn't cloud their thinking, except when it comes to your kicker. I love when you like a story. Well, good news. he doesn't need the story. Well, I know, but it was part of the bit, right? Sure. He's also got a great story.
Starting point is 01:39:35 Sure. And, yeah, they always have, and they love, you know, Dez, and they love rescue missions. But Mingo's is a bad trade, and the contract's over. What's Belichick's girlfriend's name? Jordan Hudson. Says here, a wide receiver on their depth chart is named Jordan Hudson. Originally committed to TCU and then flipped to SMU. Garland?
Starting point is 01:39:57 Yeah, local kid. I think he might have played it. at TCU. Did he not? Yeah, his freshman year. He was on the championship. He's with an A, though, right? What if Jordan Hudson is my Jordan Hudson? And I become gay. I love that for you. I think you have great taste. Okay. Jaden Smith, well,
Starting point is 01:40:13 the point here is that it looks like he's at least number six here, right? Yeah. It feels like he's going to have a $300,000 tax return minimum, which for a guy like that, you know. You think he'll make the team? I think he'll make the practice squad. at least. And he'll get stolen.
Starting point is 01:40:31 And he'll get called up or he'll get stolen. He's done a good bit of work here. That's good. That's the main thing. You kept it. And we keep it the main thing. But yeah, my shake joint fight was over DAC. It was the morning after Dak balled out.
Starting point is 01:40:49 I want to say the Rams. Yeah. Preseason game. Dez played in that game. You said that he'd be nothing. I was just like, dude, what are we doing? You're like he's just a fourth round pick. Yeah, Mike, and if you go back and watch it, which I have since then, more than once,
Starting point is 01:41:03 it is, I had a bad take. He was doing stuff that was out of, it was more than just running the offense. It wasn't much more, but it was, in hindsight, if someone did that now, people would lose their minds. Like if a Cowboys quarterback that they drafted in the first round, went out and played like that in his first preseason game, Super Bowl. People would lose their minds.
Starting point is 01:41:28 What do you have? I have two quick things. So does the passing of Bill Rasmussen mean anything to you guys? Does he polls? He co-founded ESPN. Oh, okay. So it's all over ESPN today. Oh, okay, no.
Starting point is 01:41:43 Never heard the name. Okay. So the end of... Maybe I've heard of them. The end of first take, you know, they all go around the room and act like it's a big deal that we lost Bill this morning. And, you know, here's Maurice. Scott Rasmuson, I've heard that name. It says it's his brother
Starting point is 01:42:00 That they both Okay, they co-founded it together Yeah Anyway, so first take These people have to pretend to speak on the importance of Bill Resmussen or whatever And so this is the end of first take They've got his picture up with 1932 to 2026
Starting point is 01:42:20 He passed away this morning It is The problem with TV Is you have to be on time to the second and if you go over, you're cut off. Oh, no. This touching tribute was cut off by the Pat McAfee show. So it's perfect where this guy founded ESPN in all of its glory
Starting point is 01:42:43 and is now just being trampled to death by Pat McAfee. Wake up early to try to catch it on the news. So now we got sports all day every day. His legacy lives on. Hello. Welcome to our home of the boat. The Draft King's Thunderdome. It's a blasting right into your face.
Starting point is 01:43:03 Dude, yes. It's so, the music starts. They're in the Thunderdome. It's sponsored by Draft Kings. We need whatever that. I want to feel more like we're in an Oval Office. That was a very just riveting intro. I'm going to play it again.
Starting point is 01:43:18 This picture of Bill Rasmussen is up. It's in black and white. It's a very touching tribute. Then two, it's, bam, this is the Thunderdome. Now we got sports all day every day. His legacy lives on And welcome to our humble-a-vote The Draft King's Thundergown
Starting point is 01:43:37 On this Big Ball Tuesday Big Ball Tuesday Is that what his Tuesday is? Big Ball Tuesday? I don't know, dude, I can't keep up. I want to be Big Ball Tuesday. No. We need our own.
Starting point is 01:43:50 Two shrivel balls. Boiled C Tuesday in honor of Dustin Hoffman. So there's that. The other thing Yeah, you couldn't write that better. No. Like going to an ad would have been funny.
Starting point is 01:44:04 Yeah. Going to, but going to McAfee. She was about to finish her heartfelt thoughts. McAfee talking like he's the president. Hello. Yeah. Welcome. He's standing up and his black tea.
Starting point is 01:44:18 Saluting. Yeah. I love it. The other thing is around this time is when I'll crank up some fantasy football podcast. I've got to start my prep. or just for the NFL in general. And I'm not sure if you guys were familiar with Move the Sticks. It was a podcast with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
Starting point is 01:44:36 This guy. This guy. Yes. This podcast has been around forever. It's one of the OGs. Okay. Forever, forever. Resetting for the general population who may not know everything.
Starting point is 01:44:48 There was the one time that you thought that... This is AI Jake. You're talking about. Gulag was from video games. So I sometimes do have to just remind you things existed before. Sure. This is me being Bob.
Starting point is 01:44:59 Well, this is the great, this was for a while the best NFL podcast out. It was an NFL network product, and they were the best of the best. Respected. Well, they don't do it anymore. No, they don't. But an episode was uploaded like a week ago, and it was done by AI. Now, I don't know if someone infiltrated, like, their podcast feed, obviously ESPN or the NFL is denying any involvement. But it seems like someone just took AI voices of Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks
Starting point is 01:45:31 and did like an NFC preview on the Move the Sticks feed. It's really weird. ESPN says that it isn't AI. They said it was like from their team previews that they just like plugged it in. But it's very weird. It still says their names on it. It's still under their podcast feed. Daniel Jeremiah was tweeting about it.
Starting point is 01:45:53 I have no idea what's going on here. But that's what, remember when they fired Ryan Clark, mid show or yeah yeah and then they still put his hey watch out for the cowboys take on social media like as the news is breaking that he's firing they put his take from that show on and I saw Todd McShay who's done a bunch of work with Daniel McJermaya before Todd McShay was tweeting like hey I'm still listed as the co-host of a
Starting point is 01:46:23 podcast I haven't hosted in four years on ESPN.com there might be just incompetence. Like, somebody, they fired them, but they're like, I don't even know. How would we even change it? I've never seen anything like that. You think, yeah, you think that it's like ESPN, and they would honor Bill and Scott Rasmussen by dotting all the eyes and crossing the T's. But their shit is just as effed up as whatever else. So I think they probably were, some intern was like, well, we got to put something up today.
Starting point is 01:46:53 Grab one of these files. Did you listen to it? Uh, no, but I mean, some people were saying it's hard to tell the voices. I would have thought that's, yeah, my guys, I'm listening to, I guess. Wasn't there another ESPN, I don't know if it's a mess up, but Shams reported one thing about the Lakers sale, like that the bus family were selling the rest of their percentage. They had a certain percentage still of the team, a Jeannie Bus still was the governor. Yeah, very weird.
Starting point is 01:47:28 And then she has put out a statement saying that is not true. And is the NBA jumping in saying actually, or no, there was another thing with the NBA and the Balmer thing. That's on the Clippers deal, yeah. So the. So much. I'm pretty sure ESPN said, hey, there's nothing to this Balmer Pablo Tori thing. And then the NBA came out. It was like, actually, we're not done with that at all.
Starting point is 01:47:52 Yeah. The letter from Jeannie Bus's lawyer, I think. Gentle Persons. Do you feel like we're already... It does not say that, does it? Dub H.O. Yes, it does. Edwin sent me the email and I screenshot it in.
Starting point is 01:48:09 Gentle Persons. As you know, this afternoon, Shams Sharani of ESPN falsely reported that the six bus siblings voted to sell their 17.8% ownership stake in the Lakers to Josh Kushner and Bob Eiger. and that my client, Jeannie Bus, is, quote, out as controlling owner. This is just the latest instance of a year's long pattern whereby Joey and Jesse Bus leak face defamatory and pernicious information to Mr. Sharania for the malicious purpose of doing harm to the L.A. Lakers. So long as Dr. Bus's chosen successor,
Starting point is 01:48:41 Jeannie Bus carries out her father's wishes. So she's not going anywhere right now. She's And you know It's very overworked Twitter joke of the week But succession could never I mean this is
Starting point is 01:48:57 We're in the middle of a Succession Situation here At Cowboys Camp as we are every year But Yes all of these Family-owned And maybe that's why we should give
Starting point is 01:49:10 The Cowboys more credit I never heard of this stuff With like the Rooney's Right Pittsburgh And you don't really hear about it With the Cowboys dude Like we know
Starting point is 01:49:18 That we have the personalities of it, but you don't think Jerry and Stephen Jr. and Charlotte don't know their place. The plot of succession was them trying to like big-time daddy. Okay, yeah. And when they tried, they showed their asses. And that's sort of more to me what's happening. We do have a kid that showed up out of nowhere a couple years ago. It's very succession personality-wise.
Starting point is 01:49:39 But just as far as like the chaos of... Like we kind of think maybe Charlotte... I think it's because they have too many kids. My theory, my whole life. The Lakers have too many kids? Because my mom's family was all, you know, like she doesn't know. My mom family was all effed up. And there was too many of them.
Starting point is 01:49:56 But they were also like not very well off, right? So I assumed it was like, well, poor people fight a lot or mid people. But then I met, his mic's off. But then I met like my stepmom's family and they had a lot of money. But they had too many kids. There's just a matrix. The dynamic becomes too. Too many kids and too much money together probably?
Starting point is 01:50:15 Yeah. But what I'm saying is even when you're broke, I think having too many kids is bad. Well, that's when you have to eat cereal with water. I know. One of 17. Steven's constantly trying to get a little more, right? I think he has. Like, whenever you're talking about who's going to be the fifth receiver and talking
Starting point is 01:50:32 about storylines, I think it's been years since Jerry weighed in on who's the fifth receiver. Oh, yeah. But that's, yeah. So I think there is success. He still lays back and when they're. Man, he's. He still acquiesces. He loves that.
Starting point is 01:50:46 Yeah, no. He's not like his best friend. It's like the sorrows. They legit are. like best friend. He's not going to stop being owner until he dies, but as far as what exactly... Will he even stop then? What if they upload his whatever to the cloud?
Starting point is 01:51:00 And then we got a press conference with that. I think Stephen... AI Jake will ask AI Jerry some questions. Stephen versus Charlotte is going to be more interesting than you might think I would guess. Yeah. But to your point, it doesn't happen in every family. The Lakers one. And so I don't know where this goes.
Starting point is 01:51:25 T.C. was mentioning to me off the air that the guy that just sold the shares he bought last year, Mark Walters, he was also the owner of Chelsea in the Premier League, and he sold out that. I'd never even heard of this fucking guy until like a week ago. But apparently there's some. He looks like he might be in trouble. Yeah, dealings going on. He's trying to unloaded. He made it like $12 billion or $20 billion in like two years. You don't sell the Lakers a year after you bought the Lakers because everything's going good.
Starting point is 01:51:57 Well, he didn't want to do this. Unless you could get a very much higher valuation, which they did. Yeah, I mean, he made $2 billion in a year. It's an absolute. If that's one year, think about 10. And that's what people were, well, that's not necessarily, you know, linear. Especially if you're, you, you, who. who's like smugly claiming that the Earth won't exist next year.
Starting point is 01:52:21 Yeah, but that's not going to be a problem for him. He'll have his own planet? Bunker. No, he'll die with the rest of us, and then who cares who owns the Lakers if everyone's dead. Well, I care. Care about Luca. I'd rather own the Lakers than not on the Lakers,
Starting point is 01:52:37 and Mark Walter until very recently appeared to. Well, but the thought, yes, he's got other problems, it seems like. Yeah. But it does seem, too, that the kids, the other bus kids saw that Jeannie Bus, when she sold it, what she did, highly undervalued the Lakers, and they're upset, and they want their peace at this value. Yeah. I just think any shot to knock her out.
Starting point is 01:53:05 I think it's probably more matters to them ruining her plans to continue to be governor than any money involved. Probably. That's definitely true. They have $5 million in the billion or they have $7 billion in the bank. Does your life change at all? No. Your life changes based on what is the dynamic when you go to games. And if your sister's mad at you,
Starting point is 01:53:26 and if you can get her out of there and get your scene back. Yes. If you know that she wishes she was making trades and stuff, your life feels great. It's triggered a new set of questions that all will have to be solved in court. And what if I could do that? And they were rushing to do that. And make it.
Starting point is 01:53:41 So now you're saying I have $7 billion and my sister is mad. Oh. Like that's Heather Locklear for a million dollars. Find the fleas on that dog. But wouldn't it just be better if you didn't have six of them to fight with? What are you saying now? Get a hit man? No, I'm just saying...
Starting point is 01:53:58 Yeah, now you're talking about hitback history. And this is also why I respect whichever one of the family members for succession that basically took the... I think they were more removed from the nexus of power. But you take the lump sum and you just go. You're like, hey, could I cat... What would you guys give me right now to be like, out of this family. So, okay, you die, I get $100 million. Can I get five now?
Starting point is 01:54:22 I don't want anything to do with this anymore. You guys don't have to worry about me. I won't show up. I don't need to vote on anything. You're kind of a Connor. Yeah, Connor. So you can run for office? End up replacing Herschel Walker, his ambassador to the Bahamas or something. No, you might end up health, the guy in charge of all of health. I guess that's true.
Starting point is 01:54:45 Which appears to be going great. For the entire nation. Yeah, every day, dude, your Yucca app is going to eventually, that'll be the least of your worries. Every day there's new foods. You can't eat that anymore. It's contaminated. Did this used to happen all the time?
Starting point is 01:54:58 Do I love the Yucca app? I love app. There's probably a bit in there somewhere. Somewhere. So what we understand is there might be a Von Miller press conference coming up in 15 or 20 minutes or so. Well, you just ask him if he's been to Vaughns. Have you been?
Starting point is 01:55:16 to Vaughn. Why do I have to be the... Why am I your clown? Dan McDowell. Why am I your dancing monkey? Fox 4 Plus. Well, you are the biggest Vons fan, I know. I do like Vons.
Starting point is 01:55:26 Fox 4 Plus, Dan McDowell. It's just a tough thing. I'm the guy that likes gross. No, so what we're going to do is for the live listeners who are watching on YouTube right now, um, we're going to carry the Vaughn Miller press conference. because we have to, right, basically?
Starting point is 01:55:49 We can't be doing anything else during it. Our booth is situated right next to the press conference area. We could yell questions from here if we wanted to. That's how close we are. So that's why if they start a press conference, we can't be doing this show with all this projection I'm doing. So we will carry the Von Miller press conference, and then afterwards we will edit that out for the audio program.
Starting point is 01:56:14 So if you're hearing me say this and you're listening to the audio program and you're like, oh man, I didn't get to hear Von Miller. Don't worry. I didn't ask him about Vons. Don't worry about it. So that's the deal, right? Yeah. Just so we all know when we see him walking up there, we're going to carry that. Anything else you want to do before we get to today's news?
Starting point is 01:56:34 No, I think that'll time out nicely. All right. Better fan. Here's Jane with the Dumb Zone News. Yeah, just a quick. Quick hit here because I saw this story, and you mentioned it earlier. I don't think this is in the list of things that I thought would be a bigger deal. I'm probably not really in a position to comment on them,
Starting point is 01:56:55 but I saw a story that Austin's new city budget had been announced, and one of the things that's in it is the continuation of $20,000 a year for their SIP Safely program, which is like an anti-getting-your-drink-spiked program. Oh. Yeah. So we're putting $20,000 a year into that. What does that mean? What do I do with that $20,000?
Starting point is 01:57:26 So they, at the bar now, a bunch of the bars down there, the city has purchased drink-spiking test strips. So if you're at the bar, you can ask and be like, can I get a, you know, hypothetically, if you ever were buying ecstasy and it was during a time where people had started putting fentanyl and things, you can get a test kit for fentanyl and test whatever drugs you have
Starting point is 01:57:52 to see if they've been anything put in them. You can do this with drinks. Or could you just build up a resistance to it, like the guy in Princess Bride? You just drink a little of it every day. Well, I don't know. That's a good question. I assume it's like GHB.
Starting point is 01:58:11 usually what's used in this. You don't need very much of that. So you would have a hard time, I think, microdosing. Roofie? You could try. Give it a run, though. That'd be fun. Silicon Valley CEOs. Yeah, it just kind of keeps me chill. You know, and it's got a low-key sexual vibe. I'm microdosing roofies every day. It says it raises awareness also. Of how to drug drinks? How to not get drugged. How to not get drugged? Oh. Yeah, training. I don't need that one. I need the other one.
Starting point is 01:58:44 Blake bringing up the word Rasmussen made me think of this story we saw last night. So there's a mayoral election coming up out here. You may remember that the guy from Spencer Pratt. Gribble's favorite show. The Hills? Yeah. Heidi Montag? I remember when I learned it.
Starting point is 01:59:04 They had their own spin-off, I think, too, just him and her. Maybe more than one. That was a primary. So that was just to see who would be the Democrat? It's the top two. It's not a... Regardless of party. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:59:20 So you basically have a Democrat and a Democrat running against each other, but one of them sucks. The one that's in charge now, way more. And they had a story last night on the news. And I saw these numbers early in the day yesterday. But there's a poll that came out from a company called Median Strategies. And they released this poll showing that the incumbent Karen Bass was leading the challenger by 12 points, which is like not in line with anything that anybody's seen at all. From what I've seen, it's a pretty close race.
Starting point is 01:59:57 Karen Bass is the current mayor? Yeah, with the challenger probably the favorite at this point. And this poll, so Karen Bass's campaign posts it, they're like, yay. Shit's rocking. And nobody really followed up until a couple people in the news, I assume in L.A., called this company and were like, hey, Brunig style, let me see your numbers. Let me see the data. We want to run it. And they're like, oh, we don't have it because it doesn't exist because we're not a real company.
Starting point is 02:00:33 We just made all this up as a social experiment to see how quickly fake news. and fake polls can spread through the political information ecosystem without any independent verification. That's interesting because I would think your side,
Starting point is 02:00:55 like if it's the mayor, I feel like the text that I get, I'll get them from like both Tala Rico and whoever's the Republican. Pac-Man. But it'll say
Starting point is 02:01:10 Talarico now polling ahead this is why you need to send us money I'm James Paxton or what's Is it Paxton James Taylorico? Yeah The point is
Starting point is 02:01:25 like you want to downplay your poll you wouldn't want to say look how we're winning by 20 you'd want to say I guess if you want money you want to say look at how these these you know Dems who want to kill abort four-year-old kids.
Starting point is 02:01:42 I got one. Send me money. Yeah, I think you're learning that the spin people, their job is to take the news whether it's good or bad and then put the spin on it. There's a way of being like, look how great we're doing, this machine's rolling,
Starting point is 02:01:57 don't you want to join in, send us a couple bucks. That's the other way. There's been thousands of dollars of research in countless, pointless hours trying to figure out the answer to the question you just asked. Like, well, how do we present which is better for voters to present. No, most social science's fault is,
Starting point is 02:02:14 you can't broadly apply it because people behave differently. Remember Donovan? Only wanted to vote for winners? This would be big for him. Like, that's what I'm saying. Everybody's, there's different psychology's involved. But the point is, it didn't exist. This is completely fake.
Starting point is 02:02:29 Now, what I would do is what the Challenger did, which is you take this and post it, and you're like, this is sort of shit we're talking about. These are not serious people. They didn't even follow up to see if this was a real pull. Oh, they just retweeted it. They just posted it on their account. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:02:43 But of course. Because if you just do that, you could never win an election and stay in power. Right. I mean, I still had one of the KubiX in New Orleans missing his Super Bowl win with the Seahawks last year. You can get to the top faking it. But it, of course, makes me think of Marshall Henderson. L.D. Bell's own, Ole Miss, Gunner. the hero of March Madness one year
Starting point is 02:03:10 who once tweeted like a ton of pretty homophobic stuff after Michael Sam made out with that guy during the draft and then when everybody got mad about it the next day he was like okay pull back the curtain my friend's doing a research paper
Starting point is 02:03:27 and we just wanted to kind of see how this would play out it was a social experiment you guys played along thank you I'm an academic me Marshall Henderson and I've always loved I love that story. I was just testing you guys.
Starting point is 02:03:41 Some of you passed. And it's also an excuse for me to say, I really want to talk to Marshall Anderson. So if anybody knows him, I think his dad has a new phone number. His dad used to be the coach at Bell. I envision a world where we can produce like little mini documentaries about like Metroplex legends. And that guy was one. Let's see, we'll move on here. I thought this was dramatic.
Starting point is 02:04:07 was dramatic. The Conroe City Council voted to do away with flock cameras. And they staged like a dramatic thing where the mayor unplugged one. All right. Was it what a giant plug? Like Kyle on South Park, getting the router to work again. And did they cheer as if he was a war hero dog? Yeah, the city of Conroe is certainly a clean record on all things.
Starting point is 02:04:37 What do we got there? This is where I was sent to boarding school. Oh, wow. They were absolutely fine with... They were complicit. They were probably encouraging you. There was probably a public privacy partnership. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 02:04:52 Where they were like, yeah, bring them down here. No, there was cops on the city payroll that were showing up and getting a little extra doing that. State Fair of Texas dropping prices. We'll go down to $10 a day. for child admission. That's two bucks down. Parking rates go from 25 to 20. You may remember last year,
Starting point is 02:05:17 and this resulted in an exchange of emails that I should probably follow up on for maybe a business Wednesday, because one of the guys from the fair is quoted in this story reached out to me because we were ripping on the fair. But we were ripping on it kind of like
Starting point is 02:05:32 because everyone that I know, who seems to know, says that it's like, a giant grift. Like it's not going back to the community it's supposed to. There's a lot of hands in the pockets. And so it's not only crazy expensive. It's not going where you think it does. Yeah, but all those people, I'm so glad they're doing those stories. That's great. Is the reason you go to the fair because you hope that it benefits some kid or is it because they have delicious food and fun rides? Yeah, it's for a benefit my kid. Who cares? Yeah. So last year they were taking it in the shorts, though, because
Starting point is 02:06:06 people were posting, like, you know, light crowds and claiming it's, not claiming, it's too expensive. You have to have an adult with you now. You can't bring your gun in now. These are all things that they did. I mean,
Starting point is 02:06:22 it's part of it. It is part of it. So they're saying this is, you know, it's not a decrease in quality. This is just we're meeting people. where they are. You know, out here, parking out here, you do have to pay, and I guess it's free to get into camp. But I just found this out yesterday from Blake 2, that parking is cash only in 2026.
Starting point is 02:06:53 Like Blake's homeless guy isn't even cash only. Right? Right. And what are we doing? Yeah, we go to a little taco stand by the house that's cash only, but you can Venmo, cash app, do whatever. right they got the thing right there that's what they do with valets and stuff now we checked out the other day from the hotel and that way the reason i think things aren't cash only anymore is because of people like me like if i was the parking attendant and it was cash only a couple of those 20s might slide right into the other pocket
Starting point is 02:07:25 yeah but it's probably less than uh what the government was taking out in taxes yeah and also probably like processing fees and stuff for I felt like cash is still going to be cheaper No Wait oh Then the stealing Yeah I think even with stealing I think cash you know what are you going to take a couple 20s
Starting point is 02:07:44 But Vimbo or whoever wants a piece on everything Let people steal It wasn't as bad as you thought is what I'm saying But it makes people bad because they can see a person It helps young promo guys too Sure Kind of get through country music festivals No doubt
Starting point is 02:08:01 That he had to work God I was thinking the other day man just I don't because I think it's important to remember like down times in your life like I'll read my journal from rehab I uh I should have wrote more stuff down did you just check off me bringing up rehab then just got a piece of paper I was like alright for the video bingo no I was looking for the gay drop no but uh the standing at a cell phone store for two hours for $75 which, you know, hourly, it works out, but you're driving out there. And you stand there, possibly one person comes up
Starting point is 02:08:42 and knows who you are and says I'm here for the station. The people at the bank, the cell phone store, the tire shop, they may not even know you're coming. In fact, they usually don't know you're coming now that I think about it. They're like, oh, we heard something about that. What are y'all here to do?
Starting point is 02:08:56 Go for it. And you just stand there. And you stand there in a ticket polo and it's 100 degrees. and you feel like an asshole. It's the weirdest thing I've ever done in my life, and I did it a lot. It's good money.
Starting point is 02:09:12 Now you have to call in. You know, you've got to pre-record these or call these in, and it's a nightmare. You're like, well, we don't really have any spots left. That was not the beaten part of that job. Oh, man. That was the only thing. It sucked so bad.
Starting point is 02:09:23 I'd rather run the board. My favorite is I had one where there's a giveaway. We had one item to give away. Emmett Smith Bobblehead? Killer was handling the how we're going to run the contest. He was running the contest. He reads out the number. There's two small children with the number.
Starting point is 02:09:44 No, he's got to handle. There's only one item. He's got to tell one of these 10-year-olds go home. That's the exact number. That's incredible. Yeah, we would always tease a signed like Troy Aikman thing that I knew didn't exist. I'm like, I don't know, I guess you can put your name in there if you want. In Puerto Ranzas, a man celebrated his 90th birthday,
Starting point is 02:10:11 surrounded by friends and family yesterday at Waterberger. This is one of the 730 Waterburger locations across the country he's visited. He first started going in 1963. This is like Matt Birmingham and Del Taco. Like this guy lived Waterberger. I've been to all the Conne Roses. That's nice. That is nice.
Starting point is 02:10:43 There's only like seven of them or something. Five? Do you think we could do your, any sort of like, if you get old, we could do something at Conne Roso? I don't like talking about getting old with T.C. here anymore. He's fucked my whole thing up. Why? Why? You're fine.
Starting point is 02:10:58 I won't do it. Because he won't get old? No. No, that's not. He's very honest about that. honest about all, but it's the whole... No, not because he's going to die young, because we're all going to die. We're not going to have camp next year, so I even talk about it.
Starting point is 02:11:10 And buddy, I'm old already. We have robot footballs. I swear there's 60-year-olds that feel better than I do. Game day, buddy. Gameday. com. Game day. Is where you can go.
Starting point is 02:11:24 Get on that peptide train. Where do you want to have your 90th birthday party? Me? Yeah. Out here, Spencer. Spencer McKinsey's. Maybe go back to Bob Evans, make it full circle. We'll see if they lock in for an annual.
Starting point is 02:11:44 And I did see this story last night on the news. We have a regarding the actress who pass away from Hero. Hayden Panetieri. Big news out here last night. They led with it. As they should, as they should everywhere in the United States. The police report is out that's heavily redacted, but they say. redacted stuff, man.
Starting point is 02:12:09 Yeah, dacked it up. Why not dacked it? Make it dacted. Her on and again. Her on again, off again, boyfriend, and his brother were at the scene inside the apartment complex and were seen leaving. Boy, that's... Was it Nick Reiner? No.
Starting point is 02:12:28 No. They're not letting him out right now. Oh. I just keep an eye on him. His tentacles have great reach. They say there was no signs of trauma discovered. Wasn't she married to, like, Vladimir Klitsko? Yes.
Starting point is 02:12:43 The boxer? Yeah. No, the... I don't know who that is. Okay. It sounds like an arms dealer. The wide receiver. He's the Lord of War.
Starting point is 02:12:52 Yeah, I mean, what happened to that guy? We traded for Brittany Grine. So she was married to him, and now she's... Yeah. Was with this other guy? Okay. Are we alleging that the other guy... They said there was a bag of medication?
Starting point is 02:13:06 Yes. Was there any signs? Signs of foul play. I love that. Yeah, I think that's what we're... I love a sign of foul play. And tell me if this trip, this lead and headline would have tripped up young Dan.
Starting point is 02:13:19 So in Galveston County, they got a tip from a concerned citizen. I like that framing. That's an only in journalism. Would you ever say that out loud? What, I'm just talking to your buddy? I'm just a concerned citizen. I punch you in the face.
Starting point is 02:13:37 Concerned Citizen in Galveston gets a tip. And the result is a big bust in Texas City at the Texas City Dike. Hmm? They just got one? Yeah. So much so they have to proper noun it. So what happened? What are we saying?
Starting point is 02:14:00 What did they do? This is like an illegal fishing spot. Oh. But so you call the game word. that you care about it because they call it the dyke and that really was a problem for me as a kid because they would what is a dyke is it a dam yeah i think so no as a kid sure you loved i mean now i wouldn't find that funny at all i don't find any of that childish stuff i've grown beyond it they're they were using like they were using what are called gill nets so it's like a legal
Starting point is 02:14:31 fishing you get he's clayton shaking his head a bunch of catch crab this way uh But I just... The Dyke had crabs? Yeah, I see, okay. I thought we'd get there somehow. That's all I needed. It's all I needed, folks. We can get out of here.
Starting point is 02:14:48 Terrible ending. Terrible ending. Terrible ending. I was really hoping you'd take us up to Von Miller. But, you know, hope is not a strategy. Nope. Hi, birthday. Thank you.
Starting point is 02:15:01 We don't have to do that either. We could just kind of hang out, right? Oh, do you want to just hang out? It's only going to be a couple of minutes. I at least do via mail or no? I think Hunter Lipke's jersey is in trouble because Von Miller's Instagram post this morning was a cowboy uniform laid out on a little bed
Starting point is 02:15:19 and him sleeping. It was like an AI image. It was Hunter Lipke's number? Yeah. So Von Miller at the age of 38 or whatever can just come in here and... Well, who's more valuable to the team? That's the dumbest thing.
Starting point is 02:15:37 ever said. I would say maybe a pass rusher who could get you five to eight sacks. There's all drafted free agents that could knock Lipke off his number. That's insane. Special team's demon. Probably RB2 right now. Unfortunately. Contract. Jaden Blue's clear RB2. Jade Blue will not be here next week. But I would love a world where Lipke tries to play a little hardball. I saw Devonte Adams telling a story the other day.
Starting point is 02:16:03 Oh, that was great. He got traded and he's like, yeah. Somebody, some kid had it. He's like, you know, I'll give you a 17 grand for it. Set number 17. He's like, yeah, that's cool, OG, but I'm going to need a million. He's like, the fuck you will. I went right to the GM and was like, get my jersey.
Starting point is 02:16:20 I'm not giving him a dollar. Hell yeah. Oh, really? Yeah. Like, you don't play with me. It was like some, it was a young guy. He's trying to be nice. Nah, dude.
Starting point is 02:16:27 I'm not giving you a million dollars. Wow. Now he's got a Taco Bell in his house. But can Hunter Lipke make some small play? No I'm going to ask him today That's my goal You take that
Starting point is 02:16:43 Hunter I know you've probably Seen my emails and letters I'm the president of the Hunter Lipkee fan club What are we going to do with this number? Don't tell them about Selena Did you have president of her I got it yeah yeah That's a very high level
Starting point is 02:17:00 Deep joke Fan club president stuff Took me a second Sorry not part of TC Sorry 69 I'll say something Crabbs. Crabbs.
Starting point is 02:17:10 Dikes. Almost. I bet nobody asks about his troubled past. Well, you're right here. Which part of it? The steroids? No. Or the little dust-ups.
Starting point is 02:17:27 Yeah, just go up there and say, what was it that she said? No, what? We'll go up there. Doing improv. We'll go up there, and Dan will sit next to me, and he'll kind of start slapping me, and I'll go, who am I? This is okay, right? Well, I mean, it's a news story, bro.
Starting point is 02:17:45 Everybody thinks it's okay. It happened. I mean... I mean, she says it didn't now. That's a long time ago. What we do here is look forward, you know? Put your feet where your feet are. I think it's interesting.
Starting point is 02:18:02 The main thing, the main thing. I do think it's interesting they signed him just from a how much, not do they need it, but like how much of an upgrade. I mean, obviously you look like Sam Williams or Maris is out. and that's a second and third round pick so if they move on from those guys that is some level of bucking year they just won't let these guys go
Starting point is 02:18:24 those are fails straight up fails Williams they did resign I thought Sam Williams as a body yeah yeah one year but does plus he's shown some flashes yeah but same thing with
Starting point is 02:18:35 with more than Mingo Mingo's back so my point is just like if you're talking sunk car This isn't Mingo's last year on his rookie deal? No, they did like a rework, but yeah, it's... Okay, well, I'm sure there's not much guaranteed. Barely anything.
Starting point is 02:18:52 Barely anything at all. I mean, he fits the mold, Vaughn Miller, for sure. But you look at that room, and they got a lot of guys. Seems like you'll probably play like 20 snaps a game. I think it was 25 a year or a game last year. I had nine sacks. With Washington, Pat. Pressure numbers are sold.
Starting point is 02:19:16 But that's pretty great. I mean, that's all they used them for, right? Yeah. That's it. The pressure numbers support the sack totals. But you need rotating. Yeah. Keep the guys fresh, put him in there on passing downs,
Starting point is 02:19:30 which is every down, kind of. Yeah, it seems... I guess it's the theory. The theory is that the tough run defense and all that is going to put these teams into quite a few long third and third. Quite a few third and longs. Now, that's all great theory. You just got to get that first and second down to play along.
Starting point is 02:19:50 It can't be worse. But it also can't be worse. I mean, it got better as after they got Quinnett with no T. Is that why they ended with such momentum? I don't know that they ended with momentum, but I know that he definitely made a difference. I would expect, yeah, I think they'll finish in the top half of the league and the defensive numbers we care about, EPA or DVOA.
Starting point is 02:20:12 That's my prediction Write it down You know who I miss out here I miss bones man Big time I almost said it Fun to have bones I almost said it to
Starting point is 02:20:24 Butler but then I realized like Bones was gone last year Yeah I'm all messed though I saw a guy walking by And let me tell you something I know we just do like Hey if we like this guy
Starting point is 02:20:35 When he does it It's cool if we don't That it's gay Bones Big fan of playing with the kids Bones was like all about it, dude. And he had Angers kid out here. I think Brandon's kid might have just been born, but it was awesome.
Starting point is 02:20:51 He's fun, fun, dude. That was real stuff. Those are guys he's in the room with every day. Here we go. It isn't playing with Aaron Andrew's kid. Anyway, walking towards the podium right now, I'm just going to guess. I only see the back of him, but I'm going to guess that's Vaughn Miller. Von Miller.
Starting point is 02:21:07 That is a big butt. We will get to hear from the newest Dallas Cowboys. And if you're watching our YouTube live, you'll get to hear him as well. The Dumsah! The Dums of Dums. Well, as I said, you know, these monkeys are not pets. They belong in the wild, and when they can't be in the wild, they belong in accredited sanctuaries where they can get the care that they deserve.
Starting point is 02:21:32 Previously on cereal. Well, Pita has a problem with Des Bryant's new pet, monkey, calling it illegal and wants to be a little. the city of DeSoto to seize him. He got a Michael Jackson syndrome. Michael had a monkey, he won a monkey. That's all it is. That the man had a money.
Starting point is 02:21:53 He needs a friend. Yeah. Everybody needs a friend. Dang, we're talking about no pet monkeys around here. This is a global tail link prepaid call from. The real bottom line is we have no evidence that animals even in the city of DeSoto. All we have is a picture on social media.
Starting point is 02:22:19 From this American life in WBEZ Chicago, it's serial. One story told week by week. I'm Sarah Kahnick. You're listening to The Dumb Zone. All right, two break day. Kind of. Two press conference day, too. Shottie will be back up there later.
Starting point is 02:22:47 That might all go together, yeah. Von Miller, for the audio portion, we won't have that in here. But we'll play some stuff tomorrow. I'm sure we will. There's some good stuff there. He kind of started out hot, very C.J. Wilson's. C.J. Wilson level cockiness. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:23:06 But I liked it. I liked a lot of what he had to say. You know what I also like? Plum Quick. I want to just give them another little shout out, plumquick company.com. We have the Parlay Collective at Parlay Collective.com. And we have puddle pools. puddlepools.com
Starting point is 02:23:29 slash dumb zone. Oh, and Game Day Men's Health sponsoring us out here at Cam. And sponsoring my life. Yeah. And Matt Grimm's too. Probably top two an MVP right now, those two.
Starting point is 02:23:42 You and Matt Grim? I bet Plumquick also knows what a dyke is. And I looked it up. And it is, it's like a, look at this on this map. This is the Texas City dike, which is where Edie Paddy and
Starting point is 02:23:57 kind of Christie Scales is from. So it's like it juts out from land to what, like it's preventing flood,
Starting point is 02:24:06 but it doesn't connect. Oh, D.I. So that, obviously, but I didn't know, as a kid, the only thing I knew
Starting point is 02:24:13 when people referenced to Dyke was like, he got to plug the dyke. You got to put a finger in a Nike. Why are we do, the only word we have
Starting point is 02:24:21 is Dyke, the only thing you do is put a finger in it. Yeah. There's got to be another way this is used. And it turns out, not really. You got to put fingers in it.
Starting point is 02:24:31 Blum quick. It's important. Happy birthday. Thank you. Your male birthdays is where we left off. So here we are. One more note. Why don't we flush all toilets with our feet?
Starting point is 02:24:41 Why is this only, why are we doing it out here? I do think of that. In these porta-potties, these upscale ones, they all have foot flushes. Make some bars have it. You're doing the wipeage and stuff, so much so that you always say I got to wash my hands after I go to the bathroom. Right. But you're in the middle of it. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:24:59 You reach back, you flush, and then you go wash your hands. That means that is the dirtiest thing in your whole house, that handle. It's covered with poo. Perhaps in the one out here, no. Fiscaling. You'd eat off of it because it's just a pedal. You've got to pedal by your foot. Step on it either way.
Starting point is 02:25:17 In the porta potty that's air-conditioned better than our Airbnb. How far do we make it today? It's just kind of like the bowl is full of water. You go potty, and then you just push your foot down. and there empties that thing of water. There's no way that it's not possible to get a foot flush at home. I want it. Plumquick Company.com.
Starting point is 02:25:38 He picks his foot up to the... I absolutely use your foot. Matt Grimm also has black toilet. You don't? I thought he did. We've been to a lot of sit-ins. Do you think I should get a colored toilet for the den so that people that visit can use a...
Starting point is 02:25:56 A different color toilet? I have mixed feelings about it. They're gross. Why? So you probably don't want to know. But, I mean, I feel like I'm pretty well-traveled on toilets. And I've seen a lot of them. That's why I'm asking you.
Starting point is 02:26:10 The black ones, okay, it looks cool. You're my toilet guy. Until there's poop on it. And then it looks really gross. What color? Well, let's do like tie-dye. Yeah, I think like a seafone green. My dad lived in a house that was real 70s.
Starting point is 02:26:25 Now we're tall. talking Dallas Cowboys toilet. Like a star in there or something. Not toilet paper. No, no, we're hard-cour. No, inside. Yeah. Anyway.
Starting point is 02:26:39 Seems like probably not normal to have like the cowboy logo peeing to be peed on at your cowboy watching party. No, that's why we should make it Philly, right? Right. Because we love the Cowboys. You say that you thought you'd be guy who started the wave at baseball game when you were a kid. Yeah. I 100% thought I'd have a truck. with a little kid peeing on an eagle's logo when I was a kid.
Starting point is 02:27:01 I was like, those guys are the coolest. Yeah, those are awesome. I'd love to have lots of stickers on my truck. Well, we had Nico Harrison urinal cakes at the GSE. We did. Big success. Ultimately led to his firing. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:27:15 Today is my wife Cynthia's birthday. He says I didn't wake her up in that special way because she's dead. All right. What? Anchor word unrequited. Love. More Danny B. Alas.
Starting point is 02:27:31 Leaders are Fudy C.K. And the smokers at a European AA meeting. Always punt with runners on the corners from Mustash Josh. Have we talked about the play where... No.
Starting point is 02:27:50 I wanted to. Somebody got a sacrifice fly. Yeah. Okay. Runners on the corners. There was one out. fly ball to center field neither of the runners tag up
Starting point is 02:28:07 they thought that there were two outs so the runner at third scores did you see this one no okay so yeah both runners just sprinted okay they feel there's two outs there's a scoreboard out per runner it's error the runner at third that run it count no
Starting point is 02:28:21 yeah go ahead sacrifice run scores they catched a ball in the outfield for the second out and then they throw a ball to first and get that guy out for out number three but that was after the run had scored and so it counts.
Starting point is 02:28:37 Now, had they just thrown the other guy out as well, the run wouldn't have. But since all the players left, the run scored. Or just, all they had to do is just do the runner at third. Sure, yeah. And now it's a double play. But because, not that I knew this, a bunch of people broke this down,
Starting point is 02:28:55 you can technically get four outs in the inning if you would have gotten the other one. Right. But because they didn't You see that In fact, John Boy did a good 15 minute breakdown on this whole thing Did you see that?
Starting point is 02:29:07 Okay, so in today's game because of replay you will often go for the fourth out So let's say there's two outs in the inning I don't know, there's a double steel you throw down to second umpire calls them out you see the runner is running around third though now
Starting point is 02:29:28 you're going to go ahead and throw and get that fourth out just in case. It's like the football and football. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Never thought of that. So there, and then John Boy showed about 10 examples of, see, here's what happened last week, here's what happened two months ago.
Starting point is 02:29:44 Here's, like, you're chasing the fourth out in baseball nowadays. But you wouldn't do it just on a simple double play, right? You wouldn't do it on a, very obviously, it's a caught fly ball. That one for sure. Yeah, that's. But if it's a kind of a close play, just go ahead, try, just make sure. and that's very heads up. But it was the Red Sox or the Blue Jays, it wasn't very heads up.
Starting point is 02:30:06 One of them was not heads up enough. They got that thing, and then they all ran off the field. Once you run off the field, then you can't now go appeal a play. You know, another play hasn't been. God, I've learned so much about baseball this year, guys. Isn't it great? It is. Dear Guru of the Pink Canoe.
Starting point is 02:30:23 What are you going to do next year with no baseball? I'll probably. Learn how to bump set and spike, something? No. What else did you miss out on? Soccer feels like it's right there. Can you ride a bike?
Starting point is 02:30:36 Can I ride a bike? Oh, that's a ridiculous question? Right, you can't throw a ball. Yeah, become golf guy. Ooh. That will not happen. I'm writing to wish a happy birthday
Starting point is 02:30:50 to my best friend and business partner Ryan. We are the I Butler guys who have sat in for a couple of soads. Nice. We have more anchor words for you. In cahoots.
Starting point is 02:31:05 Her cahoots is within. Is that we say? Nitty. Gritty. Champing. At the bit. At the bit. Movie tropes.
Starting point is 02:31:20 Along the lines of cleaning up after sex. Two people waking up together next to each other, immediately kissing and speaking in each other's faces like their breath doesn't start. God, That's a great one. That is a great one. Oh, God, yes.
Starting point is 02:31:38 My wife and I have a strict bubble around ourselves. Don't even a hug. I will smell your breath if you get close to me. Here's another movie trope. Teachers and college professors yelling at students as they run out after the bell is rung to read pages one through 50 or don't forget there's a pop quiz next class or so and so. We covered all this. We were in here for three hours. There's no need for you to yell at the buzzer.
Starting point is 02:32:06 Okay. Dallas Cowboys riders have to film a TikTok together. This is great. Interesting. What's happening? This is behind you. They're doing silly. Feeling of TikTok.
Starting point is 02:32:17 Everything's TikTok these days. Blake's asking if I can ride a bike and be being offended. Does bring us to an interesting question, though, because TC can't, but that's an outlier in my generation. Why is his headphone not on then? But the throwing thing, I understand there's a, whatever. I bet there's guys out here who can't ride a bike. And I bet there's a lot of them.
Starting point is 02:32:42 And I'd like to find out. It's racist. No, no, age. Like when we were at the ticket, we realized that everyone younger that we were hiring didn't know how to ride a bike. Is the e-bike bringing it back? It might be. But you don't really ride it, do you? Yeah, you've got to bounce on it.
Starting point is 02:32:57 But you're not pedaling it. No, but that's the... It depends on which one you have, but most of my pedals. And you can just turn it to where you don't have to pedal it? It just helps you. Like if you're going up an incline, they're very popular out here. Oh, they've been on the news out here, too. They've had several city meetings on the e-bike.
Starting point is 02:33:18 And then I just started thinking about how terrifying that is, dude, the L.A. kid. My fuck, he's barefoot coming back from the ocean, just on his e-bike. They appear to be banned in Ventura. I was trying to find one. No. When you walk to the pier, they rent them over there. That little fun place that we were at. All right.
Starting point is 02:33:36 So you can get regular bikes or the regular bike is like $15. The e-bike is $75. Okay, that's too much. Yeah. What is this fun place you talk about? It was called Fun Place Rentals. Like it's literally the name of it. Because I was texting T.C. on where to come meet me to film our fun place.
Starting point is 02:33:56 Our viral TikTok. He said, come to my fun place. And I said, yeah, there's, it's near the, I said, the parking's near the fun place on the map. Do you think their producer gets mad when people leave comments? They're like, that wouldn't fun. I thought you said this was a fun place. Why'd your name it the fun place?
Starting point is 02:34:11 Yeah. Like Blake does. What's the one called? Dumb Zone. Things I thought would happen more when I was a kid. The idea of stop, drop, and roll was hammered into our mind so much. I thought I would have to be shouting that or utilizing the method that put out of fire monthly.
Starting point is 02:34:26 Yeah. It's turned to do a DMX anthem. Our leaders are run the ball, Blake, pond guy, and Jake's $50 pizza instead of free no-bo sushi. Always punt unless your kicker is Brandon Aubrey, then kick from 70 on first down. That's Danny from I Butler. If we remember 20 minutes ago, it was Ryan's birthday.
Starting point is 02:34:49 And T.C. can't ride a bike. You just don't know how to ride a bike? I do. He's lying. Typical Jake. It took me a long. is a much later in life. It was a formative thing that my friends are just having a great time riding bikes. I couldn't really figure it out.
Starting point is 02:35:03 The balance was tough for me. That and hopping the fence. I don't know how big. These were the two things that really like, you know, cemented to my mind. Just a little chain link fence? Run up to it, hop it? I mean, no, like if.
Starting point is 02:35:19 He lived on a golf course. Yeah. So like it was a wrought iron fence around the golf course. And you were not able to hop. it. It was too tough. I just didn't have stomach muscles for it. But the other kids could. Although you were, this is not bigger TC.
Starting point is 02:35:33 This is, you were just a normal skinny, little rail kid. Yeah, it wasn't big until I was like 20. Yeah. When you're allowed to eat all that stuff. I'm sorry about the bike. I didn't even know, I thought you couldn't. So I didn't even know you struggled. Tim K. Get one out here right now. Tim K. was not of the young, young generation.
Starting point is 02:35:50 He was like 30. He couldn't ride a bike. Huh. I mean, I think it's in line with Blake Blake's cousins or a nephew's thing. Nobody throws or rides bikes anymore. I haven't taught my kid. I'm working on it. I'd like to, but she has less than no interest.
Starting point is 02:36:09 Mine has interest, but it's just, she's very unathletting. My second kid didn't have an interest in learning to drive. Yeah, but that's like... That's a common thing, though, in kids. It's common now, but it's surprising. I guess it's all the same thing of, like, staying at home is more compelling than ever. But just when I was a kid, the only thing I wanted to do is get gone. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:36:31 But yeah, it was to leave. However we could do it. And finally, in viewer mail birthdays, Uncle Daniel, please wish my wife Amanda Sadler a happy birthday today. She is chilly to my bandit, but without the swinging. Well, it's part of the allure. I haven't seen that episode yet. I think I grew up with the Sadlers or adjacent to them. You are her weak coffee leader, but she's also a card carrying.
Starting point is 02:36:55 member of the Beehive and agrees that Blake is the manliest and the gayest member of the show. Yeah. That's so hard to pull off. That's so true. Depth you guys don't understand. I kind of think that's true. Yeah. It tracks. Deal from strength or get crushed every time. That's from Justin. That's the Trump Girls chorus, the USA. You grew up with them, and they mentioned 10 people in the email, and you can't even get one? Okay. All right. So are you going to Rio? No.
Starting point is 02:37:28 It's not. It's off. Okay. Yeah. I couldn't remember if anybody else from your, will there be a NAT? If the Cowboys aren't sending people. Well, but Christy's going. So there's obviously some.
Starting point is 02:37:39 Are we doing that game? Her producer's not. Probably. Probably. Are we doing it and streaming it? Is it on our schedule? I don't know. He doesn't.
Starting point is 02:37:49 He's not affiliated with the streams. Fairlease. org presents. I did think it was funny when she was like, yeah, so she's like, as far as the... Unplug and unplug back in? You got it muted. How is it?
Starting point is 02:38:03 Let's try it again. It's worse. It's worse. All right. How's that? History. Better. Hey.
Starting point is 02:38:14 Worse. I got something for that. I did think it was funny that she's like, yeah, it's going to be, uh, for all intents and purposes, a Cowboys home game game day. a presentation. I'm like, yeah, but if you look up in the stands, it'll feel a lot like that. Our people will be represented. Today is Tuesday, August 18th.
Starting point is 02:38:39 I would love to go to that. On this day in 1587, Virginia Dare became the first child of English parents to be born in present-day America. Damn, I didn't know that. How about the fact that someone brought up the Nazis on the show today, and it wasn't any of the main crew. Christy Skills. Growth.
Starting point is 02:38:58 That sounds like a WMBA team, by the way. Virginia Dare? Yeah. Ha! And it is, the concept of a dare is like lightly risky enough to be the name of a team. Like, it's not like... Not the Virginia...
Starting point is 02:39:15 Bonsai Bomber. It's like, yeah, just... What do we call it? Do we have a thing called, like, is this a bad bit? Something like that, right? Bad bits? Well, I mean, you have to decide. On this day in 1920, it was the 19th Amendment to the Constitution,
Starting point is 02:39:31 guaranteeing all American women the right to vote. There's a heady debate on Twitter these days. No, there's one guy. It is kind of a right-wingy thing that you're supposed to... The thing that I see a lot is guys saying that their wife has no choice but to vote with them. Yeah, I agree with that. Like, that's the way it's, you know, the household. That's the way it should be.
Starting point is 02:39:57 It's in the Bible. On this day in 1983, it was the continuation of the Pinetar game that takes 12 minutes, 16 pitches, and there's a crowd of 1,200 people there at Yankee Stadium. I'll just point at you, say yes or no. Do you know what the Pined Tarr game is? Yes. Yes. Yes.
Starting point is 02:40:23 Oh, you don't care. And yeah, you do, of course. You're Matt Grimm. I'm surprised that Blake does. He loves Paul. Or is it because we've talked about it before here? Who's the big name involved here? George Brett.
Starting point is 02:40:38 George Brett. I was going to say Kurt Gibson. Billy Martin, the other big name. George Brett actually shares my literal birthday, and so I'm familiar with this incident. Okay. Not my McAllister's or McDonald's or Chick-fil-A birthday. I don't know about peeing on the hands,
Starting point is 02:40:53 but I do know that George Brett was one of the guys that didn't wear batting gloves growing up. I also messed himself. Yeah, I don't know about peeing on hand. I know about pooping pants. Anyway, yes, George Brett hit a home run to beat the Yankees. But Billy Martin, always looking for the edge.
Starting point is 02:41:18 Matt Burnick would probably love Billy Martin. His Billy Martin had seen, like there's a rule that you can. can't have pine tar more than 18 inches up your bat. Not that having pine tar would really help the ball travel farther if it was 19 inches up, but that's just the rule. And Billy Martin had noticed that George Brett, man, he's always got pine tire up there. But he didn't bring it to anyone's attention.
Starting point is 02:41:41 He wanted to wait. And so he waited until George Brett hit like a game-winning home run, or a game going ahead home run in the ninth inning to beat the Yankees. and then he called everybody out. The umpires had to agree. Yeah, actually, that's the rules. They called him out. And he went nuts, just kind of a Joe Carter like trot out to the mound,
Starting point is 02:42:07 just like a wild man, if you've ever seen that video. It's funny. I'd like to. And then it was a big controversy all summer long. I'm glad to hear that this is revered in the sports. world because I'm not a good athlete, but I've done stuff like this many times. And it is generally hated. To try to, you're catching a rule.
Starting point is 02:42:34 Like if somebody has their pockets exposed in a flag football tournament, then they're down when they catch the ball. And I've like pocketed, no pun intended that, until I needed it and been like, yeah, that doesn't count. There you go. And the guy's like, what the fuck you mean. You have pockets the whole game. You have no muscles?
Starting point is 02:42:51 You use your brain. Yeah, but we need it now, though. Yeah. That's why you're on the team like Von Miller, man. Sometimes your teammates are like, I don't know that I'm on board with this. Why did they replay it? They didn't replay it. They picked it up from that point because it got out of hand.
Starting point is 02:43:10 The American League Office upheld the appeal. There was an appeal to say, hey, you can't, the Pintyntar didn't matter, even though it was the letter of the law, blah, blah, blah. and the American League office said, actually, that's right, we uphold your appeal. We will pick up the game from that moment. It just seems like today. There's all kinds of times where the NBA comes in.
Starting point is 02:43:33 It's like, yeah, we've missed the five most crucial calls, but that's the result. Right. No, so this was huge. This was the story in Major League Baseball that summer. So, yes, they put the game back to, yes, George Brett's home run counted. He has scored, your team is up, we got to finish the ninth inning.
Starting point is 02:43:55 Okay. And that's what they did. And that's why it took 16 pitches or whatever. It's crazy. 1,200 people decided, I want to see this. I'd be there. That was the whole, it wasn't like, because they weren't going to play the Royals again that year. It seems like an ideally lengthed game.
Starting point is 02:44:08 Yeah. It's funny when you go to YouTube, though, if you search George, Brett, and then the letter P, you have two options, really, that come up pretty quickly there, and that's a unique. It just says pintar and poops his pants. Pine tars first, though, right? Still? It is.
Starting point is 02:44:29 Okay, good. It is. Is this the news? What do you got? Rest in peace to Frank Beard. Oh, wow. They all need to start. Training camp.
Starting point is 02:44:44 They need to start taking care of themselves around training camp, man. It's a final destination. type deal for ZZ Top every year. Wow. As soon as... Boy, as soon as Dan hits his fifth, Spencer McKenzie's Burrito of the Year. What a... The drummer of ZZ Top feels a pang.
Starting point is 02:45:07 Yeah, who's left? Voodoo doll. Are there still guys left? How about Billy Gibbons? Is that a person? Sounds like a person. In ZZ Top. Who was the one that died?
Starting point is 02:45:18 Frank Beard. Last year. Or last time? Um, never mind. This day in 1993, this was interesting. I was looking at this. Dusty Hill. Dusty Hill.
Starting point is 02:45:32 No. Wait, not Dusty Hill? I think it is. Why are you laughing? Yeah, that's his name. Yeah, you're right. Don't you laugh at me. AI doesn't know Dusty Hill.
Starting point is 02:45:44 On this day in 1993, a judge rules that Kimberly May, she's 14 years old. judge ruled she doesn't have to ever see her biological parents if she doesn't want to that's what she said she was switched at birth with another baby and didn't find out till she was nine years old wow so I went to look into this story this morning
Starting point is 02:46:15 yes please and indeed they were switched at birth in the hospital. And at the age of nine, they were like, oh, my gosh, that was a total mistake. But the going theory is, so Kimberly and some other girl, let's just say her name is Jennifer, switched at birth. Kimberly was born to a lady who already had five kids. Jennifer was born to a lady that had quite a bit of tributtal.
Starting point is 02:46:56 trouble giving birth had gone through this and that many you know and then finally was able to give birth to a baby the birth she the baby she gave birth to they knew right away there's a major heart defect i don't know if this kid will live past like four or five oh my god you can't do that and this lady's over she can't so at the age of nine falling out of the window she's got so these babies were switched at the age of nine is when the heart defect you know whatever She lived beyond what their initial projections were. So now when they're going in to start doing some tests and everything, they find, wait, the blood type, like, this can't be your, either one of the parents' baby,
Starting point is 02:47:41 this blood type. And so they went back, where was, you know, let's go back. Where were you? Who was born that day? Who was, and they found out there was one other baby. They did the blood tests. And yes, actually, they were switched. and the thought is a kind-hearted nurse
Starting point is 02:47:59 or somebody that thought I need to this poor woman who finally gave birth to a baby but it's about to, it's just going to die. That's real socialism right there, buddy. I'm going to give her the healthy baby. I understand that they're going for. And I gave the other family the baby that will die. It's insane.
Starting point is 02:48:17 And yeah. It's insane. They're not God. Yeah, for, I mean, I know this is like probably a pedantic point. But the reason you don't do it is because you couldn't, other than moral reasons, is the medical reason. You need to know about what your family has, can get, like what to look out for. I don't know that stuff.
Starting point is 02:48:38 Well, I mean, most people. They always ask me, what is, is anything running your dad's family? I'm like, I don't know. Yeah. Wish I knew. I wish we knew. He gave up on me. Unlike, you know, and he didn't send me $200,000 a year, whatever Jerry did, his baby.
Starting point is 02:48:55 On this day in 1995, Jose Mesa of the Indians Ties Dennis Eckersley's record recording his 36 save in his many opportunities. Every time they threw him out there, he saved a game would have gone on to probably save Game Sem of the World Series as the Indians would have won that. They probably would have won the World Series, but there was a strike. If it got that for it.
Starting point is 02:49:20 He never had any big stumbles in World Series or anything, did he? Jose Mesa? Nah. I mean, he would later, but that wasn't, they would have won it in 1995. All of baseball agrees with that. On this day in 2001, Danny Almonte through the first Little League World Series perfect game in 44 years. What a talent. He was only 12 years old, struck out 16 of the 18 batters he faced.
Starting point is 02:49:48 And then they found out he actually wasn't 12 years old. He was 14. It's a big two years. And then they found out he actually wasn't Danny Almonte. He was his cousin. He was some other guy. Yeah, that was a big story. I thought it.
Starting point is 02:50:06 I believe Pooholz has lied about his age his entire life. Yeah, I think there's a handful of it. Lider don't know. That was a big story for me. No, he lied. If he had been the age that I think he was, he wouldn't have been able to play high school baseball. Like, it wasn't like a wacky, you know, record-keeping.
Starting point is 02:50:25 thing. It was, I'm going to cheat the rules. Well, it's tricky because don't they cheat, they cheat young a lot. They cheat old. They say they're older. No, they say they're younger. Yeah, they say they're younger. Some say they're younger so that they are viewed as a good prospect. Yeah, because like if you're, if a team scatry and MLB, if you're 17 or 16, they're like, oh.
Starting point is 02:50:46 But a lot of times it's like a 20-year-old. That's, which way did Poo-Holes go? He said that he's actually older than what he says. his ages, which is consistent with what you do. And on this day in 2016, Darren Sharper, former NFL star, do you know his captain's name? Did he hit some, one of the hardest hidden safeties in the league? He was sentenced to 18 years in prison for?
Starting point is 02:51:10 Oh, dude. Is it old ladies? No, it's not old ladies. This one is, it's rape, though. It's one of them. Yeah, there's more than one, too, I think. Yeah, that's what it was. They did not build up their resistance to that drug.
Starting point is 02:51:25 No. No, that was a... So you're victim blaming because they didn't build up the resistance. I didn't even... So today is the 18th of August, this day in Dumb Zone history. Let's see. Back in... Dusty Hill? 2021 now. Oh, okay. Dan once had to apologize for calling Neil Diamond, the Jewish Elvis.
Starting point is 02:51:48 Which is what he's known as. Not even kind of offensive. But I went... I had to do an on-air apology. Really? Oh, yeah. How many of those did you do? That's like my TMS. I don't know.
Starting point is 02:51:59 It was every Thursday in Dayton. Today's apology is brought to you by local Lions Club. That's right. Man, that's confusing. Did they? No, but it's like the cat TMS PMS thing. It's like when your boss doesn't even know the joke everyone else knows. But it was a Jewish person that was listening called or probably typed a letter and sent it into the GM.
Starting point is 02:52:21 And they were like, ah, you know, come on. can't be getting these they didn't want to be associated with Neil Diamond just calling in the Jewish Elvis and they're like oh that's offensive I think it's a compliment to everyone involved yeah
Starting point is 02:52:36 Jews Elvis Neil sorry I would love to hear that apology if you have it interesting I do have a lot of audio go ahead I'll write that down I'll try and find that
Starting point is 02:52:52 I have some audio This is the day that this happened. This is Jack Morris. The player in question is Shohei Otani. Let's play Is it Racist? Oh, okay. I've got him. There it was.
Starting point is 02:53:06 Good call, Jack. Perfect pitch, perfect location. Great result. Now what do you do with Shoahe Otani? Be better, better careful. You walk him. Elmer Fudd. I think if you consider the generation,
Starting point is 02:53:32 If he were Busby, it's 100% the Orient. If it's Jack McDowell, there's a chance it's... Excuse me, Jack Morris. Be very, very quiet. We're hunting wabits. Right? Did he get in trouble? Suspended.
Starting point is 02:53:51 This is a sensitivity training or something? And the mandatory, yes. Come on, man. You think it's 100%? I just... He's just trying to live life. He's just trying to call baseball games. So many of them.
Starting point is 02:54:05 Jim Knox crazy. There is a lot of time in baseball. How many people died from him saying that? Now, if he said this during the continuation of the Pintar game, then you'd have to criticize him. There's only 12 minutes in that game. That's a good point. You have to drive in, put on your uniform, do all the whole thing.
Starting point is 02:54:23 The president was saying that people had the Kung flu. And we're supposed to. I can't do a little vetty, vetty. But that was gold, yeah. Did you guys extensively cover Mike Tyson finding out on stage that show Hey was a man? No, it was during the SBs. I think we might have been off, but it was. I really enjoyed it.
Starting point is 02:54:45 It was really, maybe it's worth looking at it. Dan, you saw that? Yeah. Okay. And we also had Jackie the Joke Man on this day in 2021. Your good friend. Yeah. One of many visits, at least two.
Starting point is 02:54:59 because he hopped on with Leno. And then Leno got mad at us. For surprising him with him. Jackie, the joke man, joins us. We made Jay Leno mad. Isn't that cool? That is cool. Guy that seems like nobody could make him.
Starting point is 02:55:15 You swore that you'd get revenge one day. Somebody made him mad enough to roll him down that hill up. Tear his face up. Yeah, we had a joke off between line four guy, Dutch, and Jackie. That's great. Other birthdays today, former cowboy David Irving is 33. Blitz over pills. David Irving wants the star of one of my favorite local advertisements.
Starting point is 02:55:45 Now, I personally recommend Frankl and Frankel. But the Ben Abbott song slaps. An associates, don't let an accident wreck your life. Hello, Ben. David Irving was a spokesperson and they're very low-rent commercial. There was also a time... He was replaced by Dory and Finney Smith. Where David Irving, Jake was predicting a Von Miller-like career.
Starting point is 02:56:11 He saw no daylight between the prospects of David Irving and Von Miller. The league? It's because the league wouldn't let him smoke. By the way, okay. You made me freaked out earlier when you were like, hey, I'm sure we're cool here. I'm not judging, but it is crazy how we judge. treat different guys with different, here's the list of what people said happened and other guys differently.
Starting point is 02:56:37 It's nuts. If you read the case that he got suspended for, who? Vaughn Miller. It's, I feel like Dale Hanson would be mad if he were here based on some of the camp reactions I've seen to guys they've signed before or Greg Hardy or whatever. I actually heard he was the greatest teammate in the history of the NFL. And he might be, and he might, that doesn't really conflict with being great teammate. I think it knocks you off number one in the entire league.
Starting point is 02:57:03 Just teammates having to answer questions. What year are we talking, though? Like 23. Oh, 2023? Yeah. Yeah. 23, suspended in 21. Like, it wasn't that long ago, and nobody asked about it at all.
Starting point is 02:57:16 And I got to be honest, I don't, it's not that I don't care. It's just I understand people fight in different ways at home. I'm just more talking about how we decide which ones we're going to be like, oh, that's the guy that has this. Because there's not a width of that on him right now. It's not like he got a quarter of Greg Hardy. No, it's either I'm doing it in an editorial or... Greg Hardy also was...
Starting point is 02:57:42 We're happy about that because he's going to help you win games. Oh, but people... That's all that you got. No, the media would never stop bitching about that. In sense. Ask Bob. Bob was taking that one in the shorts daily. But I know.
Starting point is 02:57:57 And what end... Taking in the shorts, but what does it mean? just he was aware that people were pissed off that that guy was here the whole time even but what did that mean that probably caused their valuation to dip I mean none of it means anything how about that anything in the whole world nothing means anything ever what is your life meant ask AI Willie Collie Stein is 33
Starting point is 02:58:25 he's plants over pills friend of the show Which edit did you use for the Instagram thing this morning? Did we use the man's search of himself? The less spacey one. Okay, not the... Not the man's search of himself. Not the final one. Willie Colleystine...
Starting point is 02:58:43 Should we put them all out? Every attempt? Just my different edits? I think that'd be confusing. I think you mean Willie Trill Collie Stein because he legally changed his name. Really? One of the coolest stories, he was raised. It's either William...
Starting point is 02:58:57 William, Willie Colley or Willie Stein, but he got adopted, like stepfather type situation, and he wanted to honor the guy. He was like, I want to have your last name. So he goes down to the office, and they're like, all right, you're changing it, Willie Collie Stein, is that it? And he's like, I can do other stuff and just added the name Trill before Colley Stein. Like, oh, okay, well, I'm here. If it's the same price, I would like a new name in front of it.
Starting point is 02:59:27 Austin Hedges is 34. What could have been? Dan Orlovsky is 43. Dude, back of the end zone. You know what he loves? Big fan of Pat McAfee's the album. Apparently, I don't know where we were. Maybe you were Spencer McKinsey's.
Starting point is 02:59:45 It was his birthday the other day, or today. Is that why we were doing the name? Yeah. They brought him out a plate and a candle on a piece of grilled chicken. Yeah. Like, you can't be bothered to have a cupcake on your birthday, you douchebag. Nah, he's got... Eat a cupcake on TV.
Starting point is 03:00:05 Dork. He's terrible. That's how you're... That's why you're so fat. In service of what? I'd rather be fat and... Right. He worked out so hard that he could be a bad backup for the worst team in the league.
Starting point is 03:00:17 Or even now. Like, so you can get better takes. Yeah. Yeah, when's it going to kick in? When's this fit? To your, what does this matter? What does his eating chicken matter? It's a good example for our kids.
Starting point is 03:00:29 A lot of kids are watching Dan Orlovsky. Evan Gaddis is 40. That's a hell of a story. I think Weatherford? Forney. He was cleaning an office building off of 635 whenever he got the call. He was a cart boy at Firewell Golf Course. Yeah.
Starting point is 03:00:48 Bishop Lynch High School means they call you when you live out in sticks and say your baseball team is barely a baseball team. It's a gay club? We got a job for your mom. Yeah. Private school, too, so. Greg Pruitt is 75. That's a former Brown and sooner. Liz Cambage is 35.
Starting point is 03:01:09 Record holder? Does she have a record for most points? She did it one time. Okay. She was a wing. Oh. Roman Polanski is 93, Jake. Be condemned in the strongest possible language.
Starting point is 03:01:23 I don't know why that's Jake. I thought you were going to Kemp's in him. Oh, I thought you just meant film like... And you're just a huge fan. T.C. probably is. I don't know really anything about the guy other than he's not allowed to come back to the country. He's probably the first time that I started associating weird sex with Asia. Asia?
Starting point is 03:01:43 Was it like... He's France. I thought it was like Istanbul or something. Do they let him back if he turns 100? Like what should there be like some kind of age? I don't think they should let him back. The allegations are exceedingly serious. I thought he just was having sex with 13-year-old girl, right?
Starting point is 03:02:01 I would count that as exceedingly serious. Okay. But back then, that was probably the days. He was 93. Ah, never mind. Dennis Lirius, 69. I got to admit, there was probably at least a two-year period
Starting point is 03:02:21 where he was my favorite comic in the world. That was probably 12, but he was great. Is he the one that you guys had on at the Super Bowl, that called himself Willem Defoe? Maybe. An aliner? He kind of looks like... Yeah.
Starting point is 03:02:34 He was like... He's like... Yeah, these people walking by, they're going to be like Willem DeFoe saying some crazy stuff, but... Yeah, they did have the FX hookup, so... That was a great interview. You guys killed it. He killed it.
Starting point is 03:02:46 That's awesome. Rapper. Master Killa, 57. Is that Wu-Tang? What is he? That is Wu-Tang. Our Blake music birthday of the day, which is really intense. Not for Blake, but he delivers it for us.
Starting point is 03:03:04 John Schneck is 45 from Reliant K. Okay. You're into that? I don't know. I think that's it. You've definitely pretended to like Reliant K to get the church girl to like you. You are, it's funny. You're wrong, but I do remember there being a band called Reliant K.
Starting point is 03:03:28 But I'm pretty sure they were a God band. I was a bad boy, dude. Christian Slater is 57 from Mr. Robit and Broken Arrow, which came up on the show the other day. Really underutilized, great talent. Edward Norton is 57. Fight Club?
Starting point is 03:03:46 Oh, so much, though. You a primal fear guy, then? Love primal fear. Yeah. Isn't he in a new show? It's like an actual show. I stutter. Andy Samberg is 48.
Starting point is 03:04:02 from Hot Rod. Makes me feel better about my age. And our dumb zone birthday of the day is Caitlin Olson is 51. Okay. From Always Sunny. Born on this day now dead, Mary Weather Lewis.
Starting point is 03:04:16 Is he the one that married Sacagawea? I don't know, but he committed suicide. Wow. At the age of 35. You know they lost track of Sacchia? Because she just wouldn't stop yapping. We don't know what happened to Sacchia. Yeah?
Starting point is 03:04:31 She finished the expedition and then she went off somewhere. That's where the story ends. I'm sure she's fine. She's with Amelia Earhart somewhere. That's right. Marge shot, born in this day now dead. And then, wow. These are two big names right here.
Starting point is 03:04:53 I don't know who to rank above who. Because on this side, you have Rosalind Carter. the former tiny tiny first lady so small we would have brought the chairs to camp we could have put the players in the chairs we would have shipped them damn it
Starting point is 03:05:11 and Patrick Swayze born in this day now dead the original Bodie I hope they're hanging out together somewhere in a chair or he's got a chair Roadhouse kicks just as much ass point break in my head
Starting point is 03:05:26 I know we don't talk about it like that And it probably doesn't have as many quotes. But that movie's awesome. You don't like it as much? I'm not trying to put dirty dancing on you, but... I think the only time I've seen Roadhouse is in the theater for a high-team movie of the week. It's just a lot of serious ass kicking. Point break was kind of like just a...
Starting point is 03:05:47 Be nice. I've kind of lived it. That's true. Absolutely. Until it's time to not be nice. And then Dead on the Stay Still Dead. I'll give you Don Pardo, the S. SNL announcer.
Starting point is 03:05:59 Absolutely. What if he calls my mother a whore? And that's what happened. Is she? On this day in history. So today, what do we have? Well, one hour from now, Kubiak and his New Orleans Saints will be here.
Starting point is 03:06:19 There's a practice at 4 Central, so an hour from now. That'll go for probably two hours, full on. Like, this is actually what they're, Nowadays, they say this is the best football that you can see at a training camp. Correct. When you have the joint, because your actual quarterbacks will play, real players play.
Starting point is 03:06:44 Yeah. They'll do some like putting in situations where they'll, you know, it's not like they're running, it's not a scrimmage. But it is full work. And they'll probably be the spark of a fight, which I am very excited about because we can get very close to it when it happens. DC will have a camera. Shottie might kick you out. Shottie might kick. Who got kicked out?
Starting point is 03:07:06 As a Raku. Which I don't love that. Like, oh, we want you to be crazy. Well, then what happens when I lose my shit? It's an interesting debate because he also is like, well, you have to, you'd be kicked out in a regular game, so I have to kick you out of practice now. And they got their ways, whatever. But after that, after a couple hours of practice, we'll have, never.
Starting point is 03:07:28 We'll have a player, I think. and then there'll be another shoddy press conference. So we're going to be here for a minute. Well, we'll be here for a minute. Once we go grab a burrito and come back. And by we, I mean me. So, adios, mofo. We've got to go before this becomes a zoo.
