Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, I'm professional broadcaster Julie Dobbs, letting you know that you're about to hear one of our free podcasts. But if you'd like to subscribe at dumzone.com, you'll get four shows per week, plus the weekend wrap up in any bonus episodes like our business Wednesday interviews. So if you forgot how to use the 15 second rewind, that's dumbzone.com to subscribe. Now on to today's program. Don't help me. The reviews are in. And they're saying Bafo, Jake, about Plum Quick, our plumbing sponsor. I know you're about to read a review, and I think you can still do that,
Starting point is 00:00:41 but I was on the phone with Robert today on the way here. He will be at my house tomorrow. He would have been there today if I needed. But I said, this is not, I need plum medium pace for tomorrow. So they can do that, too? They can back off a little bit. Yeah. They're on it.
Starting point is 00:00:57 I'm a customer now, signed up for the whole home inspection. And what does that feature, Jake Kemp? Well, I should have had the copy in front of me there, but I know it features a camera because he said that you do get to watch the footage. That sounds interesting. Yeah, they put it like in the drain. You can follow it through there.
Starting point is 00:01:15 It's a great show. The annual standard tank water heater flush, one drain cleaning per year. Priority scheduling, that's a big deal. It puts you to the top of the line. The front of the list. The, is there anything else that would indicate the priorities? Anyway, and 10% off repairs up to $500.
Starting point is 00:01:38 The Jet York. 469-331-3669. That's a special number just for you, the person listening to this right now. You're special. And that number, they'll know that you came from the dumb zone. And plumquickcompany.com. I didn't even read the testimonial. We'll save that for next time.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Didn't need it. All right. Men's happy Thursday for those who celebrate. This is the Dumb Zone. We're on the road today. We are not at the Game Day Men's Health Studio. That's pretty close to us. I guess closer than we usually are to it.
Starting point is 00:02:51 That's downtown Dallas. We're in Dallas. I'm Dan McDowell. I'm Jake Kim. I'm Blake Jones. Also with us is Foodie C.K. or maybe fast-foody-C-K. That is.
Starting point is 00:03:09 You like that? Yeah, I do. Fast-food-E-C-K. I don't want people thinking they could come to him for, what's the thing they banned in Portland? Walk-Raw. Wog U-C-K. Anyway.
Starting point is 00:03:25 He took offense to that. We're not here to talk about what was banned in Portland or about what we call foodie-C-K. We are here to tell you where we are, first of all, we are at half-price books, but not any half-price books. The half-price books. You could fit all the other half-price books inside this half-price books, I think. And it's a little pouch.
Starting point is 00:03:53 I've been to a few of the other ones, yeah. This is in Dallas, Northwest Highway. It is the Mecca, the Hub, the mothership, the OG. And we are here at the behest of an old friend. He is an author. We have, he's been down to the Game Day Men's Health studio before. Do you remember that?
Starting point is 00:04:16 Old comma. M.F. Yeah, yeah. He is M.F. Hamlin. All right. We all, that old M.F.er. M.F. Hamlin.
Starting point is 00:04:31 Yeah, I think that's misunderstood. C.K. over there is another initial guy. It sounds like, did he give himself that, or that's your moniker? You don't like it. Yeah. Mine, I was a music major. Metso Forte. Just right down the middle. Middle is the riddle. Do you have any awareness of MF Doom? I don't. Oh, wow. Is that the Mafa thing? No, MF Doom is a rapper. A cult hero rapper. And it's occurring to me after you said that, that that's probably what the MF and his thing. Would you say Mzo Forte?
Starting point is 00:05:05 Mato Forte is slightly strong. Not, you know, kind of weak. The double meaning thing, though. The whole, that's wonderful. Diometric. Millennium Falcon. And authors too, right? We'll go two initials and last name. Particularly British authors. Which I fancy myself with.
Starting point is 00:05:22 God, how pretentious could you get? Just go right for it. Yes. Lean in. I love it. Yeah. The book is skinny dipping at low tide and old MF over here. It's just weird to call you that in person, I guess.
Starting point is 00:05:38 My real initials are FN. frequency modulation and so we modulated it but you've decided to go initials as an author not or as an author not to use your the first name that we are accustomed to calling you off the air
Starting point is 00:05:54 correct why is that uh well no I'm full of self-loathing you know I'm afraid of my own shadow I like this actually the gnome de plume you can just uh how many chances in life are you going to get to choose a different name and everyone not be like that really not okay. You can't just at 40 be like, here's my new name. Well, you can't, kind of.
Starting point is 00:06:17 But if you're doing that, I think you actually, I think you have to do that or like kill a president because then they're going to move your middle name in there and you'll have that now. Yeah, any share killer will get that, right? Right. It's a good point. But I, I didn't think of that. Yeah. Many benefits. You guys, why do you guys not have nom de plumes? Like slim pickings or, you know. Is that me? Yeah. That would be awesome. You know, I think it was probably the ticket. That's not a thing that would vibe with the vibe of the ticket at all. Rich Phillips did it.
Starting point is 00:06:48 And it felt weird. Well, and then people would just call him by his real name. Right. Dick Hicks, yeah. So. Rick Arnett, that's a fake name. This is true. What?
Starting point is 00:06:56 You didn't know Rick Arnette's name is Rich Wisson. For real? Yeah. Oh. Didn't you ever wonder why is... Did you just find out about Santa Claus? Like, that was he was crestfallen about the co-host of the golf show. Well, that's his real name, right?
Starting point is 00:07:08 Santa Claus? Yeah. That's right. You've met Matt Whisson, right? I have. Can make some theme songs for us? Oh, yeah. That's Rick Arnett's son.
Starting point is 00:07:17 So is this when you decided to write the book, was the book signing kind of the end goal? You're like, I really want, that's what I want more than anything. No, that's honestly, the honest answer is there's a whole other novel I want to write that my agent said I had no chance in getting published initially
Starting point is 00:07:35 and that I should go with the thing that was in the zeitgeist, which is GameStop. But you told us, You told us a little bit about this novel, right? Oh, yeah, yeah. Where your family's from? Yes.
Starting point is 00:07:45 Oh, yeah, the next one? Okay. Is that what you're talking about? No, this one, and this is a good book. The next one is a much meatier topic and it's a harder topic to tackle, which is, you know, racism in America. My father's real name was Jefferson Davis Hamlin. Ooh, yeah, go with MF. Could have gone with J.D., I guess.
Starting point is 00:08:07 and but he uh you know in a very separated jim crow society grew up in danville virginia on a tobacco farm and he was best friends with the they had a sharecropper that ran the farm and he was best friends with the son and if you look historically at the lives of those two individuals uh not that it's science but dad ended up being a remarkably accomplished guy and the other guy ended up in jail and I don't know the story yet, but I think there's a rich line of American history within that. It must feel good. Back when America was great, you know.
Starting point is 00:08:44 But it must feel good for you at this point of your life to have the agency to go find that out. Yes. It does feel very good. I don't know a lot of people with your financial flexibility, but you're doing exactly what I would hope everyone would do. Be curious. It does provide flexibility. That is the thing, but also creates a lot of guilt.
Starting point is 00:09:04 Different rapper, Notorious B-I-G. Yes. So your financial flexibility, for those who don't know, it's because you were a big wig at GameStop when they were going through the whole meme thing, their stock all of a sudden for reasons we couldn't understand is going through the roof. And you are working there and you have stock, right?
Starting point is 00:09:27 That's part of like your compensation there. And all of a sudden you're like, whoa. Yeah. Look at all the money I now have. Well, it was initially like, whoa, this isn't real. It was three months before you were able to exit because I was a named executive officer. And in that role publicly with the SEC, you can't trade except in non-blackout windows. And the meme stock peak happened late January of 2021.
Starting point is 00:09:57 And the executives initially weren't able to sell until late March. and so when it happened I was like this is really hilarious this has gone to the moon on paper and it's going to crash down to nothing which it did do a degree after the the peak well after the peak but Robin Hood the app closed buying on it but they only allowed selling which you don't know anything about stocks yeah selling drives price down buying drives it up and if you can only sell
Starting point is 00:10:30 the only thing that's going to happen is it's going to go down So it and it did and I was like okay this is this is the poetry of it and and then lo and behold the redditors held hands and started moving forward and I had a good contract and was able to exit but there's you know it's just pure dumb luck and I think a lot of you know in reflection a lot of wealth comes from luck. I think there's very very much many people and I completely don't trust anyone who doesn't give some of their wealth to the fact that they were just plain dumb and lucky. Yeah, but you think about like oil, right? Yeah. I mean, it's treasure hunting.
Starting point is 00:11:20 It's just treasure hunting. And yeah, so the book you wrote is a fictional account in that universe, kind of, right? Yeah, to use another British, although it's a French term, it's a Romana clay. for the literati that are here at half-price books, they probably all know what that means. A lot of nodding. But from your dumb zoners, what that means is it's fiction with a key. And, you know, I just changed the names and protect the idiots.
Starting point is 00:11:49 So it's super, super true. It's interesting to know that that has roots in, like, French literature, because to me, it feels like a move to not get sued. And I didn't know they had lawsuits hundreds of years. years. Maybe. I don't know. Yeah, and I think they did it around scandal.
Starting point is 00:12:08 And there's no scandal in this. There's no whistleblowing. Honestly, the main motivation for, I had that the only thing I ever changed that a lawyer told me to change was the name of the company. I initially had it as GameStop and I just changed the names of the characters because A, I want to be known as a fiction writer. I don't want to be known as a nonfiction writer. And B, you know, every one of those characters is an archivalry.
Starting point is 00:12:32 type that exists in every company. And by putting a name on them, then everybody wants to look them up and who are they, and that's not the story. You've got to commit to the bit. Yeah. Fully. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Well, it's cool to be out here. I do love, I love this, half-price books. Do you have kids? I have three kids. They're all grown. Last one, Nest is not fully empty one, is a fourth year at the University of Virginia. What do they want to be?
Starting point is 00:12:59 He is a double major in music. He's a hell of a guitar. He's a double major in music and philosophy. He worked the summer in Nashville for a label called 30 Tigers, which is kind of a cool 360 label. That's Sturgle Simpson, Jason Isbell, kind of an Americana label. And I think that's what he wants to do. You know, he studied a lot in the summer for the LSAT,
Starting point is 00:13:23 so maybe entertainment law. And that's a weird area right now. That's cool. Yeah. Yeah, did you guys used to, like I took, my kids here all the time. All the time. Half-price books is the best. Yes. When my wife left, and I was alone doing the zone defense on all three, a Saturday was, you know, you'd come here, they'd mill about in the children's section. I'd go look at old records predominantly. I buy all
Starting point is 00:13:55 my reference books here because they're, you know, less than half price typically. Yeah. And then we'd go to Luby's cafeteria, which they to this day thought that that was a big treat. It is a big treat, yeah. Yeah, I told, I told T.C. Long as you don't go to that one in Lubbock.
Starting point is 00:14:14 I told T.C. I felt inferior. Was it Lovic? Was it Lovic? With the gang shooting? Was that the Twin Peaks? It was Waco. They're both Waco.
Starting point is 00:14:23 Yeah. They're both Waco. Oh, was Waco? Or, okay. Lubbick? No, Waco? Yeah. I'd never been to this location because I lived in Tarrant County where we have our dollar store version of whatever.
Starting point is 00:14:41 Like we have a much smaller version. I didn't know this mothership existed. Everything you have that's over here in Dallas. Okay. So you went to the one in Ulyss or whatever. Yeah. Yeah. And this felt like, not dollar, but it's smaller. And then you walk in here, you're like, what? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's Tarrant County existence. You just have a smaller version at home. But yeah, certainly somebody has bought one of my CDs here. I got rid of, did we all do that, right? I mean, my main move was, you know, they'd give away a lot of books at the station. They gave me like 30 bucks. I'm like, whoa.
Starting point is 00:15:14 And I would take them here and they would say, you know, we'll buy one. Like if you had a press run of books, they were not just going to take them off. Oh, so like M.F. Hamlin, let's say. Yeah. When you're making $7 an hour at the radio station, and there's... sending books out to every radio station in town. And some intern there is like, you know what? I'm going to go sell these at half-price books.
Starting point is 00:15:35 Yeah. Well, everyone had taken, three or four had been taken out. There's six or seven left. That's why they drill them, though. Those are the promo copies. Yeah. Yeah. They figured it out.
Starting point is 00:15:43 They're not worth as much. But here, today at half-price books, ironically, you can get a full-price book from MF Hamlin, right? Correct. Because it's new. But an absolutely free autograph? It's very gamestop here. You know, it's play trade, save, repeat, which was a slogan that I invented at one point when I was told all we should do is continue to sell used video games. But this is kind of a metaphor for GameStop, and they've done it right because they've created a hang, which was sort of the plan for GameStop.
Starting point is 00:16:17 And, you know, there's people over there, I think, playing Warhammer maybe. I'm not sure which role-playing game it was, but there was a table over there doing that. You love role-playing, don't you, Blake? Yeah, there's a lot of ways. Furry. The Third Spice. You do scan furry. All right, so are you signing during our show and then you're coming back up or is it after the show?
Starting point is 00:16:37 Signing during the show. I'm going to let you guys do your thing. I mean, you'll, you can do it whether I let you or not. I don't have that power. This is your time today. Yeah. He could buy you. No.
Starting point is 00:16:47 He could buy and sell you. Yeah. But I just, I thank you guys for being out here a ton. That's super cool. And thanks to all those folks out there in the audience that came to listen to them. Well, thanks for having us. Yeah. There he is, folks.
Starting point is 00:17:04 There he is. M.F. Hamlin. Ask him his real name. See if he'll tell you. Yeah, we got to slide right into some sports stuff, as we will. Guilty is charged with the sports. And it will be brought to us by, let's see. Oh, let's go with fairlease.org.
Starting point is 00:17:26 Fairlease.org, 972705-4815. That is the Dumb Zone hotline. Be like many of our listeners. Hey, sports people that are on our show next, this is the time to walk up while we're doing the... You. Indeed. You're on the show, aren't you?
Starting point is 00:17:42 Yeah, it's Picks. Jesus Christ. Does nobody know what we're doing? I know. I thought we were doing a Fairleast. Here's what I know. They're going to shoot you straight at Fairlease. They're back by the Credit Union of Texas,
Starting point is 00:17:53 which means that whatever profits you're thinking of, They just roll them back into the community. They'll give you a lower rate. They'll work with you on your credit history, your employment history. If you need a commercial vehicle, they'll find it for you. Yeah, fair lease.org. Brandon Aubrey recently got himself a vehicle from Fairlease. We have a number of business customers, community mechanical, a bunch of their automobiles are from Fairlease.
Starting point is 00:18:17 Whatever automobile needs you have, they'll work with you, Fairlease.org. Hey, we're going to be, did you mention that we're going to be there next Friday? I did not. Well, let's toss that in there. Next Friday, they do have a location. Now, their location is online, so we can be there with you every day. But next Friday, we're going to be at their brick and mortar, their official location. What is mortar?
Starting point is 00:18:41 It holds the brick together, I think. Okay. Right? Just glue. What do you know about bricks? Well, it's in Allen. Bricks? And we'll be there next Friday.
Starting point is 00:18:52 Look it up on your phone. It's in Allen. Oh, all right. Well, I don't know. I didn't say. What you want me to do? Give the latitude launch? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:00 So, but yeah, next Friday, we're going to be doing a show out there. It's going to be great. I can't wait. It's what I'm trying to say. Food trucks. I think they're giving away a big TV. You don't even have to beat Justin Anderson and Madden to kid it. T.C., you could win a TV out there.
Starting point is 00:19:14 Fair least when you don't know what to do about a car of this hard. Don't need a dealership, baby. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages. It is time for D. That is right. We're doing it again. What's your job? A tingle runs through my spine.
Starting point is 00:19:51 Same. Hearing this production. Football is happening, guys. Don't like the School of Mines play tonight or something? They're really good. Henry's got big plans for the Furman game. He was telling me. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:06 Balls back. South Lake Carroll plays at the conference. Cotton Bowl tonight. That's... Who do we got? Full of imagery that I'd rather not... Who's in our cross-hairs? I think a team from Oklahoma.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Yukon, maybe? Okay, I was going to say, please don't be SOC or something. Well, at the Cotton Bowl. Sock played Melissa that there last year. Well, anyway. You were screaming at me to get on here, but am I on here?
Starting point is 00:20:33 No one's told me I'm part of Picks. Jesus Christ. How often do you guys? I thought you guys talk every day. You talking to me? Yeah. No one has known who you're talking to. This is T.C. Fleming.
Starting point is 00:20:46 He is part of Picks, folks. Yes. This year, along with KT. Kevin K.T. Turner. Just do all the clapping, yes. And Mike, Mike Suroy. Yeah, I don't want to get out of the gates with a fight here, but I distinctly remember asking you if you talk to T.C. about this, because I said he had objections about the payoff.
Starting point is 00:21:08 and you go, no, no, no, he's good. Yeah, I thought we talked in. I'm like, are you in? And you're like, yeah, I'm in. You asked why I thought of the payoff. You thought you were a consultant? That's pretty cool, though. I mean, we would use you like that, but no.
Starting point is 00:21:22 I just wanted to make sure you were cool. I just, I thought we're not done. We're not done choosing the payoff, though. That's why we're here today. I thought my lawyer would receive the formal drawn-up contract, and when that didn't happen, I was confused. Oh, okay, no, you are in, man. That's exciting news.
Starting point is 00:21:35 Grab me on, all you? We're very excited to have TC part of this. thing. Oh, is there not? And we can follow Notre Dame all year long to their three lost national championship. Is that what we're going for this year? No chance. I don't know how, I don't know if people are prepared for what an asswhip is going to be.
Starting point is 00:21:53 Because they play like no one, right? In their hardest game against Cincinnati or something? Heisman favorite at quarterback. I mean, if you think Miami's no one, I guess you're kind of killing on yourself there. I do. It's going to, I mean, this is the year. But that, as a cowboy fan, I know, that means it, however the peak you climb to. It's just a fall from the top. This will be their year to crash best. Do you want to
Starting point is 00:22:13 rerun our Notre Dame Miami bet? The one that I'm made fun of by a 12 year old? The one that I'm won an 0 in? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know. What'd the kid go with? Just Avery's why. That's her name, right? Yeah. Yeah. I was, she had a charity golf tournament with Mike confusingly. She's a 12-year-old female prodigy golfer. That's right. I mean, now she's got to be like LPGA champ, right? She's at A&M right now. So I was just, at a hole, I was like the celebrity, like I would take a shot and then they could either choose to play my ball. With a sixth grader.
Starting point is 00:22:51 It was either yours or hers? No, it was so like these big scramble sometimes. There's like a long drive guy, right? And you get up there and he's like, hey, boys, I'm Biff, whatever, for 50 bucks, whatever. You can use my drive and he smashes one like further than I could ever dream of it. So we want to. to TC up there.
Starting point is 00:23:09 Dressed as full Ricky Fowler in orange from head to toe, basically kind of like welcoming everyone to the tea and letting them know if they so choose, they can use his drive. And then he would drive? And then he just kind of passes it out there toward the ladies' teas. And he's like, you can choose mine or you can choose your own.
Starting point is 00:23:28 That's incredible. Yes, I'm like, this is fucking perfect. Whenever she came through, she saw it, and she was like, are you kidding? She's never seen an adult man that can't golf. Watch this idiot. It was incredible. It was really funny.
Starting point is 00:23:44 No one chose T.C.'s drive to my knowledge. Getting made fun of by kids is something. There's something there. But I don't know if we just want to unleash the ideas we have or what. Yeah, let's go through all the ideas we have, I guess. Wait, before we do that. A check on the, yeah. Before we do that, sometimes, like, before,
Starting point is 00:24:08 I read a book. Sometimes I like to finish my other book. You know, I'm still reading skinny dipping at low tide. I got to finish this before I start my next book. So last year, we did picks with the Soroy's, Cirque de Soroy. Remember that? You were there. Yep.
Starting point is 00:24:26 You were part of it. Mike Soroy, his brother and Danny Bayliss. You guys lost. A controversial in close. No, no, no. Like a blowout. It's not a blowout. decided like last the last week.
Starting point is 00:24:40 We didn't hard decide. That's what we're doing this year. Like every year you want to improve a little bit, right? You stop drinking a Pepsi every night. Maybe you'll work salmon into your diet. Do more of what Jake said each year. That's how to improve yourself. I'll wait over here.
Starting point is 00:25:00 Okay. Anyway, I thought it made a lot of fun talk on every show last year as to what's the payoff. But as we slid the payoff in the direction of if it looked like we're losing, we're softening the Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then we take a two-game lead. We're like, all right. But for the whole year, it seemed like it was going to be a 24-hour broadcast. That's the thing you guys wanted to do.
Starting point is 00:25:22 Yeah. But then when they were winning, the loser had to enlist in the Marines. That is right. No, didn't you have to, what was, we had another really dangerous one. It was like D.M.L. Chapo's wife or something. No. And then one loss. It is exciting, but it also allows us to get to this situation.
Starting point is 00:25:42 So there's a pro in a car. Right. And so we don't want a repeat of last year. Right. Let's put it all together. The payoff we did end up with felt like a good one. And it's all in the eye of the beholder. Blake has told me, he's like, man, a lot of people would think this is great to be able to go do this.
Starting point is 00:25:59 Yeah. It's true. A lot of people saying, like, what, going to three baseball games? What's the problem? Yeah. It's true. Yeah. So you'd have to go to.
Starting point is 00:26:06 a weekend series. Friday, Saturday, Sunday. And your goal is to catch a ball on the fly, foul ball or home run. You could go the second the gates open, you can go to batting practice. Yep. If you catch it, the payoff is over.
Starting point is 00:26:26 Yeah. So it could be Friday night. At 5.30. Friday afternoon. Burger time. You're catching a ball and you're saying bet payoff and you have video and it's fun. The whole thing, though, is you have to go to the game first to be able to...
Starting point is 00:26:41 You guys haven't done it. That's a hard part. Are you going to? Yes, we're going to do it. I'm going to damn do it. That's why I'm happy this one's going to be individual and not team. So if I lose something, I can do it whenever the hell I want, because it's a little bit more... So you are passing the buck.
Starting point is 00:26:55 It's not you. You would have done it long ago. The bus is rolling. Passing the buck, but it's definitely Cash's Rowling Danny Bayless's fault. Cash is busy schedule. Yeah, cash has got... meetings. Danny's got a
Starting point is 00:27:08 new. He's got a fresh babby. Yep. He's like seven. He's taller than me.
Starting point is 00:27:13 He's like 6.3 already. He has been using the baby thing. He still does a lot. Get a job. We are going to do it. I do have a formal
Starting point is 00:27:26 question though to ask of the dumb zone. This came up a month or so ago and Dan seemed interested. We're going to do it. We're going to do it exactly how it's
Starting point is 00:27:35 you know written if we have to. but I will propose that we go to one game, a Friday night game, a single game, and we talked about this, you didn't hate it, dressed in full tuxedo. That's spectacular. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:50 And it is rooted in some people's schedule for an entire weekend is difficult, whatever. I don't, not my thing. I'm going to three games, but I don't like Blake's little look in his eye already. Well, my client. So you want you now renegotiate the bet payoff that we renegotiated at the VIII.
Starting point is 00:28:06 very end of last year. We're talking is what we're talking. Listen, there's a chance we get nothing from them. We've been here before. We know how this mediation thing works. At this pace where you are getting nothing. So I say, I would say that you've got to be there when the gates open. Oh, from the second the gates open, I'll even throw in an hour after the game.
Starting point is 00:28:26 Well, I mean, what if you catch one? Oh, yeah, we're gone. Yeah. No, then you have to stay the whole game. I think that you're going to wear a tux. I'll take that deal too. I think that if the talks. try and get on TV.
Starting point is 00:28:36 What are they on these days? What buzzer live? Some app. Buzz hub. Yeah. Buzz up. I don't love it, but I just, I need us to, you know how I am. I like decks cleared.
Starting point is 00:28:48 You want to close a door, yes. Done. Is there something besides Tuxedo that you guys would like more? I thought full base. He was going to say baseball uniform looks funnier to me. Because T.C. and I went to a Dodgers game recently, and there are retired wealthy men dressing up in full Dodgers. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:29:06 And going to weekend games by the dozen. Pants? Pants. Pants, full-stern. Like, dude, old jerseys, like, throwbacky? It's hot outside. We're in a vulnerable position. I am all years.
Starting point is 00:29:19 I will accept the, I would accept the one-game tuxedo payoff, but the three of you have to go to three separate games. Because it lessens the payoff if you're with your buddies. Right, because you're like, look at us. We're all together. Who's all together? It's a picture. One guy in a tux.
Starting point is 00:29:34 Okay. You went to three separate games you can do it in one day. If there's only one of them, does it draw enough attention? Because, like, we did Rangers' Dumb Zone Day when I threw out the pitch. There was a guy in the stands who was dressed like the lone Ranger, and no one was really, like. That's funny. That's better. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:53 I think that's what you wear. It'll draw too much positive attention if they're all together. Okay. But I just want, you know, you want someone. If one guy is dressed up as green man. But I guess a guy in tuxedo in center field at 3 p.m. is going to be Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:07 Someone at the plate is going to notice. Tails. I don't even, I don't, whatever that, the tuxedo is. I've never had tails. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Do you guys all have tuxedos? No, but it's like over 200 bucks these days. So the rental. Someone will hit you up. To rent, really?
Starting point is 00:30:21 Yeah. With the cheaper rental, I bet. Um, okay. Is, so that's your official? I'm just,
Starting point is 00:30:27 that's my table talk. I thought we were just talking. Now we're negotiating. So we'll have this one closed around February of next year. Yeah. Let's take our time on this. I think the baseball uniform, you have to be in catchers gear. That's pretty good.
Starting point is 00:30:42 That is pretty good. Full kit wanker. I think you get a real glove, though. Like, I'm with the back. I'm like, that's going to increase your chair. Hey, don't handicap them too much here. Net? That is funny.
Starting point is 00:30:54 No net. You're not allowed to have a net. Oh, we discussed it's funny. Massive nets. Fishingnet.com. Deadly's sketch. Like the size of this roof. Three guys standing out with three giant nets.
Starting point is 00:31:06 Yes. You just have the tarp. Yeah. Rolling it down to one of you at the bottom trying to catch it. Exactly. All right. So our goal today is to table talk a payoff. By next week, we will choose that payoff, and it's going to be in stone.
Starting point is 00:31:25 And then the following week, we will start picking games. Before we start the table talk, let us celebrate. There's ticesterone high today. Ciceroon, cacetorone, whatever the fuck it is. Cicesterone. Get yourself feeling right at one of 12 game day men's health locations. And right now, they're going to, I'm going to shoot you straight. They're going to check your prostate without fingering you.
Starting point is 00:31:55 Yeah. That's what they're selling for the month coming up. So they'll give you a blood test. I don't know. I was reluctant to do these copy points. Because you like the finger. They reacted negatively when I said, can you request it? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:10 On the call. No real answer there, but you can get this done in just 15 minutes. We actually had a guy email us a few months ago and say that he caught something, getting his blood test done and his tea checked, because you can do him at the same time at Game Day. Game Day saved this guy's life. Sent him to the doctor. He had tumors removed weeks later. The check is free.
Starting point is 00:32:29 The check is free. And if you do it, they'll put you in a drawing, and you could win a... A table for two at the Dumb Zone game watching parties. You might be there with Kevin Turner, Mike Soroy. Yeah, who knows? Can you imagine. You'll get 10% off Game Day services when you mention the Dumbzone, but when you go in and get that check,
Starting point is 00:32:48 please do tell them, we're here from the Dumbzone. They'll know by your muscles, but gameday.dumzone.com. All right. Now, I did see people say that there was not a lot of thought put into last year's payoff, And I just want to say, if you don't like it, fair, fair, way too much thought is put into it. The collection of how do we end up in the three here? A lot of politics involved there. Very difficult.
Starting point is 00:33:17 The issue, too, is if you introduce some people into the group, some payoffs become impossible. We basically rated this on who are the three people we think we could get to do anything. And that was my final check with TC in California. It was like, hey, what do you think? Like, we love us some Julie. We want Julie on the show every couple weeks. She'll be on the show tomorrow maybe, or today, right? Later today.
Starting point is 00:33:40 But Picks, you know. Well, anyway, we really like one of these payoffs. Who else do you think would be a bad idea for PICS? Do you want to give your full list? No. Not really. Anyway, my, if others have ideas, I'd like to hear payoff ideas, but I think this is a good one. I don't know what form this would take,
Starting point is 00:34:06 but this is a story that I've recently seen, and maybe you guys did too. It was a streamer who played... Have you heard about the Roy Oswald Perfect Game Challenge? Yes. I have no. No. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:23 Familiar with this, T.C.? Yeah, from you. Oh, okay. So a guy named Jay Luccarelli, 31 years old recently decided to try and throw a perfect game
Starting point is 00:34:45 on the video game MVP Baseball 2005. Do you know what that is? That's the best one. Is it? Yeah. Manny on the cover. And so his bit was
Starting point is 00:34:58 I'm going to try a to throw a perfect game with Roy Oswald. So Roy Oswald, was one of the top pitchers in the game in 2005. I think he chose he would play just about every game against the Boston Red Sox, who I think were World Series that year, Gabe on that team?
Starting point is 00:35:16 Year before. Okay. But anyway. We all know who won in 2005. Oh, yeah. Southside. White Sox. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:35:28 Steroid fueled by Frank Thomas. He wasn't on the team. Hmm. Damn it. He might have been on the team. He wasn't playing a big role. He was hurt by the playoffs. Okay.
Starting point is 00:35:40 Anyway, so the guy would, if he, if there's two outs in the first inning and somebody gets a hit, he restarts the game. He ended up having to play, let's see. It's like 1,800 games. Oh, my God. But he finally got a perfect game. And he had a couple with one out or two,
Starting point is 00:36:04 outs in the 90 that he would lose the perfect game. But he had to stream this whole thing. Now, it didn't have to stream consecutively. We've seen that, right? The challenges and guy who has to hit a hole in one on the golf simulator and he just till he does it. So this guy would do it though. I mean, we could, if we did this, we could say you got to log in at a certain time and you do it every day for two hours from 6 to 8 p.m. every day until you get one. Can I ask a couple reset questions? How old did you say he was? This guy's 31.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Because when you told me this story. I thought, yeah, I thought it was a 12-year-old. And it was summer, and he was just doing what we all did with Ken Griffey's baseball and playing a full. When I first heard the story, yeah. So when you said 31 a minute ago, I'm trying to do this in my head. I'm like, okay, this guy just did this instead of killing the United Healthcare CEO. Like, this dude is just, like, this guy's got nothing. Nothing.
Starting point is 00:37:00 How could you go through the hours? Well, it's like 12 hours a day for... He is 31, and he did this challenge at his mother's home in Jackson Township, Ohio. There you go. I'm telling you. That sounds so Ohio. This is keeping this young man out of trouble. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:19 He would pound energy drinks and play... They put it in... They put it on tap, actually. It's what comes out of the faucets in that part of Ohio. Until... Until... Like, Brondo? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:32 like yeah the idiocry yeah he would just play video games for like 15 hours a day now he chose to do this which you would think means that he's got to be or in his opinion at least a little bit good at games are you sure that we could no you I think you probably couldn't
Starting point is 00:37:53 well no he put it on it's level two on difficulty there's four I guess he said this is level two difficulty he didn't want to make it too hard or too easy. He said he thought he could have, you know, maybe accomplish this quicker if he chose Randy Johnson, who was real dominant that year. But he chose another good pitcher, but...
Starting point is 00:38:12 Top five saw Young Man. Someone not in... Not overpowering. I saw a couple of clips, too, where he was in the ninth and got squeezed on a call in the comment. Oh, my God. What do you get... Robot arms.
Starting point is 00:38:23 We got... Certainly could, you know, feed good numbers to your YouTube channel or whatever if that's your goal, too, so... I'm on kick. All right, so that's my first thought for what could we do is this. Blake was really into the physical challenge over, like, your film, you've got to be filmed doing the hole in one thing or something. Some sort of endurance you have to achieve this by this,
Starting point is 00:38:49 or you can't leave type thing, which feels very Mike Soroy. I like that. Yeah, like if. Oh, you like the golf idea, Mike? Yeah, it's your golf thing. You have to play golf every day. The other guys have to pay for it. It's funny. It's funny. Last year, I remember all these were presented and all I did was picture you guys having to do them. I'm like, that's great. That's good. Now everything. I'm like, I'm Roy Oswald. I'm going to be Roy Oswald. So I don't know.
Starting point is 00:39:17 We have a physical challenge option. Is that what you're going to get to? Do you have an option? I just, I like the hole in one. You're at X golf until you hit a hole in one on a par three. Kevin and I discussed something along those lines. We just came up with one. I don't even know if it makes any sense. You have to make a thousand. three-pointers. I don't know how much sense. NBA line? God. Is there another line? The camera in the corner of the gym, and you're just having to go chase the ball
Starting point is 00:39:46 every time you clank one. Self-rebounding or what. Or if you could even freaking do it or how many days it would take or one day. That would take forever. Or if your arms would stop working after three hours? So how would you make it, like you can't just give you infinite time. So how do we crunch it? You can't leave the gym until you hit a thousand.
Starting point is 00:40:07 I think you do. But you can't leave the gym? Oh, well, it's up for discussion. We should go, you know. See what you can make in 20 minutes? Yeah, or yeah. Go try to make 100 and then just see how long did that take you. I can do that this afternoon.
Starting point is 00:40:22 Shut up. No, I have a gym that I can try it. Yeah, yeah. I'm not saying what I can. I thought he's like. I'll do a thousand. Going through the JJ Reddick workout. Like, hit me over here.
Starting point is 00:40:31 How long does 120 shots take? I can see how long it takes me to make 50. Dude, I don't. I mean. And then you'll turn into that old guy that they have at halftime shows. Yeah. That makes all the things. He can make everything.
Starting point is 00:40:43 TC would like a word. I don't have to worry about any of this because I know the league. I can feel how the teams are going to do. Yep, yep. But I've never made a three-pointer in my life. So we'd be starting. Well, he did free throws, right? I thought you said free throw.
Starting point is 00:40:59 Did you say three-pointer? No. He said a thousand three-pointer. Sorry, my bad. A thousand three. It's like, Jake said NBA line. I'm like, what do you mean? If I tried for the rest of my life, I couldn't make a thousand threes.
Starting point is 00:41:08 And like the hole in one? Hole and one. It's got a shot. No. A thousand three. I would die on that three. Three throws would take forever. I was thinking it was free throws.
Starting point is 00:41:18 We could do free throws, which puts him back into play probably. A thousand free throws. None of this stuff feels fair. Well, well, again, we all have to sign off on the bet payoff. I have a couple of voice. Roy Oswald is leading the pack right now. Old notes here. Enter bodybuilding competition.
Starting point is 00:41:35 I love that. So you don't really, you terribly prepare, but you put the stuff on. Because you can enter if you pay. And you're out there. Really? They don't have some kind of gatekeeper on that? I don't.
Starting point is 00:41:46 I've seen people do it. Well, you need a cover. That's how the USPGA thing happened. A real golfer signed up, and then his buddy showed up for the tournament. All right. And I got a buddy.
Starting point is 00:41:59 What about enter the WMBA draft? Okay. Well, hot air balloon. I don't know what I have. I just wrote that down. Who set out? Me. Oh, I thought you're a thrill seeker.
Starting point is 00:42:12 The last thing on Earth, I'll do is going to a hot air balloon. It doesn't feel... Hot air balloon or helicopter. They're both sitting there. Helicopter. You do helicopter, but you don't love it. I like helicopter. Have you thought through the beginning and ending of the hot air balloon ride?
Starting point is 00:42:27 I guess I'm thinking more of blimp. that it's like, whenever it's, like, cantered over, whenever it's not inflated? Yeah. Well, yeah, I guess is the balloon? Yeah, maybe the balloon's lying there too at some point. Yeah. Yeah, I guess hot air balloon, the basket's got to be upright the entire time. I'm thinking more of blimp.
Starting point is 00:42:43 And then the other one we have. But Norm got into the hot air balloon. They laid the basket on its side and kind of put him. Oh, really? Yeah. In surprise, yeah. It was really sweet. So the other idea.
Starting point is 00:42:55 How about bungee jump off of a hot air balloon? What? What? Can you not do that? We had the idea that from the Super Bowl until the start of the next football season, you have to get your ear pierced and have an earring in the whole. You just have to be earring guy. Now that's kind of our favorite one right now.
Starting point is 00:43:15 And that's, you can theme it up. Football season, you got a little football in there, Halloween, maybe a pumpkin. I don't hate that. I've been thinking of that recently, too, that you don't see the earring all that often. See, I feel like that. Compared to 20 years ago. That's why, yeah, that's. Truly, that's the one we were talking.
Starting point is 00:43:30 I ran by TC in California. Because Blake was like, oh, you got to get gauges. That was on the list. That's what we're settled out. That's the giant. That's the giant whole. Yeah. No, but I think the day after the super, like, we have someone from Forever 21 or whatever
Starting point is 00:43:47 the hell. Pretty heavily featured in the Epstein file. So let's pick a difference. I think that's the reason you do it. Right. Bring them back. Yeah, like the Monday after the Super Bowl in the Game Day Men's Hell. studio in Dallas.
Starting point is 00:44:00 They're there ready to give you an earring and you have to wear it until what, preseason opens? Sure. Training camp opens? Hall of Fame game. Hall of Fame game. Yeah. There we go.
Starting point is 00:44:13 Okay. TC might be there again. The six months, that was an earring guy. I have an idea. And you have to, so you got family pictures, you're wearing an earring. Oh, yeah. Okay, you have a daddy daughter. Well, you have a daddy daughter dance.
Starting point is 00:44:28 you're wearing the earring just because I went through this when my daughter was like 11 or whatever I'm pitching to my nephew's team with an earring You have an earring? Dangling. That's the year I had to grow my hair out. And Daddy Daughter Dance Picture
Starting point is 00:44:45 with me with a Nottie Ben Franklin. With a half head of hair because I was balding. God, that was tough, dude. And if you go back to California, that's the look. What?
Starting point is 00:44:56 That look is very... wearing an earring? No, that flowing, like, that was very, I'm on the beach. Oh, give up? Yeah. Let it grow. I don't do anything now. I don't have a razor.
Starting point is 00:45:06 Loved it. But, yeah, no, we'll go through it. Do you remember when we did the Cavs Warriors? I think that it was me, Jake, and Bob, right? Yeah. All lost and I had to wear full Cavs uniforms. Absolutely. I remember one of my few wins.
Starting point is 00:45:19 There was a day where I was doing the bad radio calendars, and I was trying to drop off a bunch of calendars. But you had to wear that? I wore it into the post office and then I dropped off the box and one of the guys in line started jawn about like I didn't wait in line which I didn't need to because there was a post
Starting point is 00:45:36 that John him already but like then I'm arguing with a guy dressed like LeBron and so that's the thing I'm thinking about with the earring like if someone like if a parking attendant's giving you shit then you're John with a stranger but think about
Starting point is 00:45:50 how you know people will visit the den or whatever and bring some canned fish or something that you're you know Oh, you will have just so many, so many choice earrings. I'll have a little Jurassic Park one. You'll have a canned fish earring. Absolutely. It could also, let's just say, for instance, Jake loses one, two, three, four, five.
Starting point is 00:46:10 Each of us can submit an earring for the month. Oh, yeah. Oh, there you go. On Fridays or something. Here's your earring for the next month. Yeah. And the only way you could, yeah. I went to like a school board type thing last night where you're in little small groups
Starting point is 00:46:24 and I'm just imagining a little dangly book. It has a bag. Look. Off right here. Let the other guys pick the other. I start to be nervous. Nobody's going to pick like a swastika. Nobody's going to pick a cool-looking one to make.
Starting point is 00:46:37 It's understated. It looks cool. It's going to be a Navajo feather with turquoise. That's good. Tune into DZ TV tonight. I like it. I have an idea. So we all have like friends in the music industry.
Starting point is 00:46:55 And I was thinking about this. this like Pat McAfee album. So the loser has to make an album about themselves and the other five get to design the cover and write one song each. It would be a five-song EP that would have to go get professionally mixed in a music studio. I think we have enough friends to make that work.
Starting point is 00:47:16 I like it. Because you know George Richardson would be all over it. Most of that McAfee stuff is AI now. Or, you know, those type of artists. So what do you have to do? What do you have to record? Well, so you need to be familiar with what McAfee's album is first, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:31 It's like an auto... Who's not? Do you know? Like, have you heard what the song? It's like, hey, I'm the haters. It's about like, it's an autobiography about how he's just different and the haters are out to get him. Polarizing things.
Starting point is 00:47:43 So it's not like they'd be writing it like, I'm really cool and I love spreading joy and people like me. They would be writing songs to make fun of you. And then you would have to sing them. Okay. And you'd have to do a cover art where it looks like you. you're a tortured soul. Pretty good, yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:59 I like it. The only problem with it is that the five winners would have to do the work of writing a song. But whatever. I would love to write a song. That would be awesome. That'd be unbelievable, yeah. Are you guys familiar with the title My Tiny Dick? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:48:16 Yeah, no. I mean, you can't rewrite like Kanye's last hit, but, you know, you can have fun. Are you guys familiar with what an Instagram haircut is? No, that's a good one. Okay, so we have a listener named Alex, and he has a son who's in high school, and he sent me a video of this kid. He looks like every, you know, figuring out his physical appearance, 15-year-old. He's like a streamer.
Starting point is 00:48:44 But there's some barber in the city that you can pay, go to, and he's got a big Instagram account. He'll mic you up, and he's got a cool backdrop. And he gives you like a, you know, he got like the super. kind of Blake haircut, but then he's got a chain on in the photo and they style it, and it's just I put the video in there if you want to try to play it while we're talking, but
Starting point is 00:49:05 like you just get a makeover basically. Like you let somebody, but you guys were lacking in a hair. I get these from time to time. They're amazing. And yeah, I would love... It's kind of a one-time deal. I would love to see Dan getting one. Like, I don't know if you have to dress that way
Starting point is 00:49:19 for a month, but like there's like a full makeover. But I don't know. Earing, I feel like, has got more staying power on the physical appearance side of things. Plus, you're scarred for life. And you guys don't have hair. A little hole.
Starting point is 00:49:34 Yeah, earring also isn't so in your face. Like, you don't know until they, oh. Like, you know what I mean? You're not a guy walking in a tuxedo up through, like, but all of a sudden, there you are with your. You're seeing your regular gas station guy every morning. Oh, my God. And then he's like, oh. It's so long.
Starting point is 00:49:55 Like, what a jarring change you have made in your life, you know? Soccer coaching. It'd be cute, a little soccer ball, though. Yeah, how are you going to argue with the refs with that in, dude? Oh, my God. Yeah, it's pretty good. The haircut one is so much lighter a penalty, but the... Yeah, you can see on the...
Starting point is 00:50:16 If it doesn't go to this, do something else. Like, do it for something else. Because I... Just one of you in that video would... That would really hit. do like the slow turn and reveal of your... Let's quickly mention early bird CBD. We need to promote, promote every 15 minutes or so.
Starting point is 00:50:37 Early bird CBD gummies are not your grandpa's CBD, Blake, that he used to take before taking a baseball bat to that dog. Had he had early bird CBD, dog might still be alive. Yeah. You know who ate it paid full price? or still those. Blake's Grandpa, probably. Anyone with my last name?
Starting point is 00:50:59 Okay, that seems really like there's, that's like Muhammad or something. That's pretty common name is Jones. Dumb Zone is the promo code to get 20% off at Early Bird CBD.com. The laws they are are are changing, but as far as you know,
Starting point is 00:51:15 early bird's still good to go because it's got real THC in it, but only two and a half milligrams. So they can ship it to you now. The promo code is DumbZone. Yeah, it's got the THC. Got an email from our guy with Early Bird, and he says, you know, the reality is we may be forced to stop sales at the end of October. Given this, I encourage the guys to strongly encourage people to stock up or try it out.
Starting point is 00:51:41 So like Jake said, even if you use that code Dumb Zone in the past, it's reactivated. It'll work for you and fire it up. Early Bird CBD.com. Mike Soroy is done. Yep. He is no longer interested in it. End to the ballpark. You don't have a lot of opportunities left here, bud.
Starting point is 00:52:01 Any other? Look it up. It's Toronto, like September. I don't know. Okay. Sounds like a lot of motion. Anyways, what's that, Dan? Any other, anyone else have an idea for a bet payoff?
Starting point is 00:52:14 Are these the ones we will choose from throughout the week and then next week decide? Yeah, and I'm down for people to hit us up. Twitter, email, whatever. We get a lot of good ideas from these things. The 24-hour stream is still on the table. I think that is still something that is good. And now that it's solo. Solo 24-hour stream is...
Starting point is 00:52:31 Yeah, that's a different thing. Maybe solo see how, like, just 24 hours of trying to get a perfect game. If you get it, you can leave early. Okay. Ooh, that's a great one. Yeah. Because you still have to talk. Combine a couple of these, yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:44 So you started... Or what about a loser has to bake and eat a chocolate cake? TC's Do you think this is like Disney adult? I don't know any other men Like grown man You're in your 30s You will just make a whole cake
Starting point is 00:53:04 And then eat it Man You do you do the double layer thing And then layer the first one And then set the other one on top And spread the It's been a while since I actually It was more whenever I was with Jake
Starting point is 00:53:18 Now, there is a cake made in my house at 24 hours a day, but that's a wife and daughter thing. I don't even eat it much. When they came down to, when we go down to the lake or to the beach together, you know, other people are buying like, oh, get a couple of cupcakes. That's just, speaking of first downs, there's just no point. T.C.'s family rolls in with a party-sized cake, a full cake, and you've never run out. Try it. A good weekend. Dude, I've been having ice cream cakes delivered to my house.
Starting point is 00:53:45 You can get them, like. Delivered? Insane, dude. They're not all melty? No. Ice cream cake is incredible. I love it. I'm addicted.
Starting point is 00:53:54 Back to the guy who said I would get fat when I quit drinking. Cake, embrace cake in your 40s. He was right the whole time. Okay, yeah. Maybe it's not so much the 35-year-old man, although it would be. But two 20-year-old stoners living in a rented house, but one of them makes full cakes and then just leaves it on the counter. And just did you even, did you just get a fork and pick at it throughout the week?
Starting point is 00:54:23 Like you wouldn't actually cut a piece, right? I feel like fork is giving him a level of sophistication. What? The claw. The tensile involved at all. No. It tastes the same either way. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:39 Like a bear. I like the McAfee rap album. I like hearing. I like all of these. I like bodybuilding. I like 24-hour stream. By doing all that on one stream, why you get up Prince Albert Pearson? We should just decide to keep thinking about it all year long until like the end of the year.
Starting point is 00:54:54 There it is. That's the play. I mean, that's fun. Then you can keep talking about it. Well, thank you guys for coming out. We're not asking you to leave or anything. But hey, how's your game stock doing? Did you make out as well as he did?
Starting point is 00:55:06 Were you riding that wave? No, I wasn't. You feel like a guy. Despite your brother telling me to jump on. Yeah, I don't know how that worked out. Yeah, had that work out for Jeff. I have no idea. It's ongoing.
Starting point is 00:55:17 He's still involved? Absolutely. Okay. And at his, I don't know, excoriation, what is the word for when someone forces you to do something? I got $100. Let's see what it's worth right now. So you went in at $100. You set out by $100 of...
Starting point is 00:55:34 Years ago? Last I checked, it was... That's down to $81. That's not as bad as some of the advice I've got from Blake. Sure. Yeah, yeah. It could be so much worse. I'm so glad we're through that.
Starting point is 00:55:46 What? A little span of time where you two, I almost said something that would have got me kicked out of half price. By Shiba. You two were coming in and talking meme coins every day. Like you understood a goddamn thing about economics. One cent. All right, I'll buy $100 of that. Listen to these two guys talk like they were acts from billions for six months.
Starting point is 00:56:05 Shut up. Because he nailed Doge. I did. Like, Doge went through the roof and it's like, this is my new financial advisor. To the moon, bro. To the moon. To the moon. To the moon.
Starting point is 00:56:15 To the moon. The wealth management. Soroy did well on Doge too, right? I'd love to see what's the leaderboard on Doge earnings. I think I'm leading. We bought $15 with a Doge way when it was point zero, zero, zero, zero, zero. The first time I ever heard about Doge was just him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:31 Oh, me, Austin. Thousands? What'd that turn into? It turned into thousands, yeah. I think basically we were five bucks each and I turned into about $5,000. And didn't you like a swindle Austin out of his? I made a bet on the Masters with Austin for all of his doge coin, and he lost, and I did not obviously take $5,000. What a good guy.
Starting point is 00:56:52 Yeah. See? So if you had a time machine, would you go back and buy like $10 of it? Yeah. Maybe $12 worth. Yeah. You guys fired up about Dolly Parton dying? I was pretty in my feelings about it until I saw one of our thought leaders.
Starting point is 00:57:13 in 2026, post something on his Instagram about it. You're an Instagram guy now. You're always talking about Instagram. It made it to Twitter. Sure, yeah. Who? Is this Ricky Schroeder? No, this is...
Starting point is 00:57:26 This is from the Instagram account of noted pop star Vin Diesel. Yeah. He had a song where, I don't know, can you pull me up, Blake? Let's see if this will... Oh, my bad. Hang on. I should have prepped you for this. It's so good.
Starting point is 00:57:41 Vin Diesel has put out music before, and it was confusing. All right, go ahead. And now he put this out here. If I should stay, I would only be in your way. This is the guy from Fast and Furious. How long is this? Pretty long. We're not even close.
Starting point is 00:58:21 Let's get to the hook. There comes. All right, this is pretty big pause here. Pretty big pause here. Wait, wait, wait, wait. I feel better now. Is he playing this music? I think a machine is.
Starting point is 00:58:45 love me love you. Why? What do we do? This makes me want to do the album bit for picks. Yeah. Yeah, he lost his picks game. Well, as I was walking through the living room last night, of course, my wife is catching up on that morning's Today Show. And there's bits going on, and Jake loves these kind of bits. Well, tributes are pouring in now from all around the world.
Starting point is 00:59:12 Take a look at the Empire State Building last night. up in pink sparkle, of course, starting at 925 or 925. Get it in honor of Dolly's signature song? Get it? Get it? Do you get it, Jake? Yeah. She had a song called 9.25 and then if you say 925. Nope. Right. We live in the constitution between it's fun to create things and it sucks to have other people talk about them. Right? This dork. It's New York City. The whole... Philip Kingston tried to Kempspin Dolly in my text.
Starting point is 00:59:51 He's like, oh, if you're going to follow up on this. Oh, what? Interested? Nah, it's just... She had up a theme park, operative. I don't know if it was... Slaiwood? Dollywood?
Starting point is 01:00:01 I don't know what it's called. Yeah, it's Dollywood. They got a thing out there. They got the stampede, and they would have a north-south dynamic without really explaining what the South was there to fight for. So pretty close to slaves. They weren't really, like, showing you like, hey, this is all... of slavery.
Starting point is 01:00:16 It was just like, hey, isn't this how the Civil War is happening and they're not providing context. In 2018, that was a sort of thing that somebody would go to a show and be like, burn Dollywood down? You probably got to change this, and I think they did. Okay. But, I don't know. She seemed like a, yeah, she seemed hard to Kempspin, yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:35 Awesome. And we have an update from the world of the Dallas Cowboys, do we not? No. I thought, there is a moment of silence before the game. It's not for her, though. but I've been told What's it for? Let me find it.
Starting point is 01:00:49 What could be bigger than Dolly Flux Flood in China? No. He was a former player. Marshawn Neeland. John Nyland's Ford. John Nyland. Neeland's getting a moment. It sounds anyways.
Starting point is 01:01:08 She seemed pretty sweet. So I don't know. This seems like one of the rare ones where people die and everyone's pretty on board. You got to wonder if having a giant tits has anything to do with that. It's got to have 100% of this stuff to do with it, right? I'm on board with her dying. I'm so sick of this bitch.
Starting point is 01:01:25 Oh, no. Jeez. Everyone acts like she's like, oh, yeah, Dolly part. I take my cues from our music buddies and they all say she's like a god. She had a lot of hits songs. And her vibes are impeccable. The people said, that's what I, it's just people saying that, like, whenever I think of her, I think about, who gives a shit?
Starting point is 01:01:43 Like, it doesn't mean anything. It's not like her songs inspired me or like I'm listening to that album all the time It's just you know Her PR machine just did a better job Than the other celebrities PR machines Of making this idea of like She's just everything I like
Starting point is 01:01:59 And there's nothing behind it There are a bunch of women who are straight dolly-pilled Like their whole existence It's not quite Disney adult But it's theirs She's also obviously extremely popular In the gay community She has frozen TV dinners
Starting point is 01:02:12 It's too far It's too much No, she doesn't. I got pictures of them on my phone. I catalog this stuff. There's too much Dolly Parton in the world, and now there's none, and I'm overjoyed. But I'll tell you...
Starting point is 01:02:23 That's a beautifully put, D.C. Ease. But the Today Show basically was all about... Yeah. Like, the whole thing. There's nothing else going on. They're doing a half-staff White House thing, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:39 Do you think that's reflective of her music, in your opinion? Like, are there artists that... that you think probably had a bigger output. She's just a cultural icon. That would not have gotten the Today Show. She is a cultural icon, but I believe her chest has a lot to do with that fact. Probably everything to do with that fact. No, not everything, but like there, because there's plenty of that out there.
Starting point is 01:03:00 It's like Cliff Lee, you know? You got to be like, all right, we got here. Now what else you got? Yeah. But still, he's on to something. The TV dinner thing is a bit much. Well, moment of silence for Doug. Do you guys talk about that on your show today?
Starting point is 01:03:17 Hell yeah. Kevin Turner hosts a country music morning show now. It's not country. What is it? The word Lone Star does make it sound like that way. Yeah. It's DFW's best rock, bro. Okay.
Starting point is 01:03:31 Yeah. It's like Just Easy Top. Not the Eagle? Not the Eagle, no. No, we've moved. Did you guys get Bowen Jim fired? No, Jim retired three years ago. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 01:03:43 You're a good friend. And you should send him a fruit basket there. Bo was let go in October. Oh. So you planned this a while ago. Well, that's what many Boe and Jim fans think, and it's been beautiful to see their feedback online. What did they do?
Starting point is 01:03:58 Because they're like, where's Bo and Jim? I was like, if you cared so much, you would have known he's been off the air for about 10 months. Okay, whatever. That's a good way to get him on your side then. They're out of the demo. It doesn't matter, does it? Oh, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:04:09 Do ratings matter. Everyone matters to me. Do ratings matter. It's wild. It's wild to me. The game has changed a lot. I'm looking at them like, I don't see the cumulus. Like, we don't even.
Starting point is 01:04:19 They don't have ratings. Yeah. Because they got in a pissing match with Arbitron or Nielsen. Yeah. But they have a new ratings provider, right? Yeah, but only they signed on with. It's a weird story. I don't know that anybody cares about it enough, but it is a weird.
Starting point is 01:04:35 I like learning about that. No one should care. Yeah, yeah. It's not important. Yeah, yeah. Or is it? Just bonus time. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:43 Or have they taken that out of everyone's contract in the industry? How have they handled the bonuses? How do you think? I think they haven't given any out. They're not in anyone's contract anymore. But it's a considerable part of the compensation, right? If it's in your contract. Yes, it can be.
Starting point is 01:04:58 They do. They want bonuses to be a lot of your compensation. Has junior lost 90 grand because Cumulus is in this pissing match? I can guarantee you. I was going to say, I'm going to leave this one up. There are like five or six guys that haven't lost a penny. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 01:05:12 Okay. But again, that's irrelevant. Do we say goodbye to you now? I got to go. Thanks for having me, guys. 92.5, 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. The Benz-Skin show. What are you guys giving away tomorrow morning on ZZ-Tob Zoom?
Starting point is 01:05:29 I'm not sure tomorrow, but next week we have the wheel of meat to figure that out. Oh, yeah. Hell he goes. I love her jersey, by the way. Yeah, go mean green. What's the story this year? We're going to be real bad because the whole team placed for Oklahoma State now. I thought we said goodbye to KT a while ago.
Starting point is 01:05:43 I wanted to talk football. I'm glad we got everything settled today. We know what we're doing for picks this year. Yep. All sorted. As a loyal consumer of your product, that drove me crazy last year. Goodbye.
Starting point is 01:05:54 Thank you. All right, man. All right, man. See you guys. Thank you. Good to see you. Bye, Mike. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:00 See you later. Great to see you. Stop. I'm muting it. What? This America. Can't just mute me? It is what you want me to do?
Starting point is 01:06:11 I haven't taken the pictures from the back that you like so much. Love pictures in the back. Do whatever you want or whatever he wants. Yeah, just hang out for a minute. Put a headset on. We're going to do some viewer mail, and it's going to be brought to us by Community Mechanical.
Starting point is 01:06:28 That is our HVAC company, the sponsor of the Brandon Aubrey Show once again this year. Absolutely. They're going to be around. They hooked up Brandon Aubrey. He was one of the many people that kind of called community as their second. thing. Like, that's what Brandon said, hey, we had some people over and they were saying that it's going to cost us like 15 grand to replace all this right now. And can you give me the community number
Starting point is 01:06:55 so I could just kind of see, let them do a second, you know, look at it. They did. They actually said, you know what, this could be repaired for about a hundred dollar part. They repaired it. It's still working fine today. They're not trying to screw you. They're trying to. help you out at community dfw.com. Many such cases. We get a lot of viewer mail about community. CommunityDFW.com 469, 66777290. I got one from Lance.
Starting point is 01:07:26 This might be a generational thing. He's 32. But I ID with this. What happened to all the Cody's? When I was growing up, there was a lot of kids in my classes named Cody. They usually were like troublemakers. And I don't know a single adult who's like 41, 42. All these guys get locked up?
Starting point is 01:07:45 Was it because of Agent Cody Banks? What's that? That was a big movie. Wasn't that the... Oh, I'm well older than that then. No, I'm in the middle. Talking people that would have been born in 84, 85, 86. Cody, Kobe, Corey, Cobby.
Starting point is 01:07:59 Maybe they're all K-Kodys now, and I just don't interact with them, but I feel like there are names that just die off. I mean, Cody Campbell is still holding it down, right? That's a good one. I mean, I hadn't thought of one in some time. I knew tons of these kids as a kid. I've lost contact with the big Cody in my life. I hope he's doing great.
Starting point is 01:08:18 Anchor word from Byron, venereal. Yes, what else is venereal? I mean, I guess a lot of things technically, right? I don't know. What does venereal mean? Stuff in the crotch. That's definitely not in the book, but... Is that what it means?
Starting point is 01:08:37 Yeah, I mean, it's got to be... Yeah. Relating to sexual desire or intercourse. Oh. Okay. So that could be your ear. Yeah. Okay, because I was thinking, could you have a venereal...
Starting point is 01:08:49 If you're Greg Olson. I was watching a venereal movie last night. Veneral piercing. Yeah, you could, I think, but no one never says that way. Is that how you got your warts? T.C. and I were talking about warts more last night. Brian warts. I feel like warts were a country thing.
Starting point is 01:09:05 Yeah. I don't know why. Because I don't know how you get him. I did get him on my finger, so maybe. your country let's see I'll keep going I got one from the WNBA
Starting point is 01:09:21 did you know about this you have to search it I think Adrian says it feels like the WMBA is trying to troll Fox News with the new Toronto mascots God I can't wait for whatever this is search the new Toronto
Starting point is 01:09:39 WNBA mascots and they're And they should be trying to do that. Yeah. Go ahead. Tell us. It's a turtle and a button. Well, you get a description of what they are, yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:59 They're lesbian basketball players. Is that what you want me to say? That's not what they're promoting. You've got to read it like they're promoting it. Meet the official. I must be looking at the wrong thing. Okay. Is it called, are they called the lesbian mascots?
Starting point is 01:10:13 Des and Dot. Yeah. Des is a tourist who uses she they pronouns. Okay, I didn't see all that part. Dot, the Arctic hair, is an anthropomorphic. Is that how do you say it? Yeah. Are you supposed to say it with pauses and everything?
Starting point is 01:10:32 I've never got that word. Correct. Anthropomorphic. Okay. Arctic hair whose name plays off of, quote, T.D. That's a nickname for Toronto. T. dot O.D. Does Des not talk?
Starting point is 01:10:45 Is Des not also anthropomorphic? Dot is a Gemini who uses she her pronouns. Dez the snapping turtle is a borealis blue snapping turtle from Muscoga, Ontario. Des is a Taurus who uses she they pronouns. Having a they tortoise is your mascot fucking rips. Yeah. The pair marks WMBA's first ever two mascot duo. Yeah, making history.
Starting point is 01:11:11 Everywhere. Inspired by a modern, steady versus swing. Swift spin on the classic fable, the tortoise and the hair. This is like the Cleveland Guardians being named, you know, the Guardian at the Bridge. You know, the Bridge. You're like, what? Where? No, no, no, that's why we're naming the Guardians.
Starting point is 01:11:29 Everybody knows about the Bridge. Have you seen anything about, like, the rivalry uniforms, the NFL this year? Every single one of them is like that. Like the Texans, it's like it's the blue for the B-something bridge. And I'm like, who the, what is? Like in Houston? Yeah. You know that famous Houston B-something bridge, Dan?
Starting point is 01:11:49 They made their debut during a halftime of a game against the fever. We do everything against the fever. Just start making out. I don't know. I don't know. Why do they need? I mean, you know what, I guess I do know why. You're doing it for representation.
Starting point is 01:12:06 And if it makes, their argument is this is going to make some people feel more comfortable. So go for it. I'm still going to laugh. But another WNBA note, we played that audio. the other day. They actually only met a couple weeks ago with them moving pretty fast. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:19 You got to run it by the parents. The wings have a player called... You all mascots. The wings have a player called a walk queer. And we had a listener who added a suggestion for a hack-a-stract, a hack-shack-type strategy. Uh-huh. Who's next?
Starting point is 01:12:44 I've got a movie trope. from Jordan. Anytime the protagonist encounters full gridlock traffic, you're given the audio track of hundreds of cars sitting perfectly stationary, most of them consistently honking their horns. Yeah, settle down. We know what traffic is like. Don't need it.
Starting point is 01:13:02 I was watching something the other day I thought of a movie trope. It's the... Because you've been to, like, local politician things, right? So it was like a local politician. but then he was in some kind of a, I don't know, he was just giving a speech, and then it's the, everybody's screaming for right when you're done.
Starting point is 01:13:26 It's like, ha, ha, and he points at you. Okay. What was the, like, as if it's Trump with 40 White House correspondents. There's no one there. I got a W.H.L. from William, who says, Hello, friends. I was recently watching a movie with my kids,
Starting point is 01:13:45 and at the start of the movie in the upper left corner, I saw the familiar pop-up with alerts about what may appear. I expect and can't understand warnings about graphic violence, language, nudity, and the like. Unfortunately, I got none of those. Instead, I was warned that, quote, this movie contains product placement. That's good. That's what they should be doing.
Starting point is 01:14:07 That's way more important than language. Let people know they're getting manipulated. I like that. Okay. He says, obviously, I was aghast. I had to turn off the movie immediately. Yeah. Won't someone please think of the children?
Starting point is 01:14:20 Oh, no. Let's think of the poor companies that can't put their products in our home. And, dude, you know how this battle. Your kids are like indoctrinated as capitalist from the second they're born. Everything, they want everything, all the time, from TV. So we protect them from it once in a while. I'll take it. I'd rather have the Siamese cats back, too.
Starting point is 01:14:41 Oh, I got to. good one here too. You can find it. This one's from Sophia, who signs off as Sophia publicist, and then there's like a name of a company. This came to our Dumb Zone email account. The subject line is trucking beyond the headlines. I don't know. I just like that as a series.
Starting point is 01:15:05 Yeah. In the body of the email, are you currently covering conversations around logistics, transportation, policy, or labor equity? That's a big yes. Most trucking and freight coverage comes from the executive's desk. Oh my God. Policy analysis written by people who have never sat in the driver's seat.
Starting point is 01:15:26 Valerie. Does that? Okay. The founder of Driven by Valerie flips that script. A professional truck driver of over a decade, CDLA trainer, and autonomous vehicle consultant. She writes about freight, logistics, and policy from a firsthand experience, cutting through the legislative noise to focus. on how drivers and communities are actually affected.
Starting point is 01:15:48 This is a great bit. Let me tell you why. They're trying to pitch a guest for us to have this person as a guest. Paige Spearneck got popular because she's a hot lady in golf. What if you became the hot lady who can talk trucking industry? Like you thought this was going to be some guy. Just add a hot, yeah, add hot lady. When's the last time you guys had on some of their CDL? I'm kind of surprised Clayton just doesn't have one in his back pocket, just as a
Starting point is 01:16:12 They list. Just again. Some things that Valerie might talk to us about. What trucking industry policy misses when it's written without input from drivers? We got it. You don't want to hear about how autonomous vehicle technology is reshaping the driver's job for better or worse. I do. Or the human cost behind, quote, supply chain efficiency headlines.
Starting point is 01:16:36 That was part of me and Binion's review of Ohio was it just felt like a lot of women who had a CDL. Please let me know if this could be a fit. for an upcoming conversation. I'm going to keep it moving here. I'd be happy to coordinate and share additional discussion topics tailored to your audience. Are you? We can have... I don't know why.
Starting point is 01:16:54 We can have additional topic. Those three topics, you thought, my God, that'll be like an hour and a half conversation. Sophia, the public could get additional topics tailored to your audience. See those people right there? Yeah. This is the bet payoff. Right for you. Yeah, how does this work into the bet payoff?
Starting point is 01:17:13 Could we try to pitch a perfect game with Valerie on the line? The other day was Matt Boutte's birthday. A 24-hour, how, I got that one. How long until you make her hang up? You got to, if she's going an hour? Yes. Keep going. Rodeo?
Starting point is 01:17:32 Yeah. You never, like, can you go two hours with Valerie talking about trucking? And then keep going on. When will she say, like, you can't end the interview? She has to end the interview. That's very good. I like that a lot. Because that could be a twist.
Starting point is 01:17:47 We used to try and do these, but it seemed mean because we were just, whatever. This one doesn't seem mean at all. That'd be great. You're giving them a platform. Yeah. Sorry. Dude, the lady, like, sent books to my house after I pranked her. Now, you know, I gave him to my kid and whatever, but you feel really bad.
Starting point is 01:18:02 We're getting, we get pitched like this all the time for various stuff. And we once did a bit, we never played them, right? Because we said, well, let's do a bit where we interview these people and we use a lot of ticket terms or whatever. And then it just seemed mean because they weren't, you know, when you're doing it with a star or somebody famous, they'll let you do it. Well, you know what I'm saying. So the other day was Matt Boutte's birthday.
Starting point is 01:18:27 I told you that I once was at his apartment in Dallas and he said, hey, Rick Solomon used to live in this building. Rick Solomon is the guy who filmed one night in Paris with Paris Hilton. And he also has been married to Pamela Andrew. and twice for a total of less than two years. Both marriages annulled before, I think, nine months. And that were like 12 years apart or something, too. Getting the second bite of the apple there.
Starting point is 01:18:54 I know. What a king. I don't know that the apple was, it doesn't matter. But he's a big poker guy. And a guy emailed me and said, hey, this is from John. I used to work at the Jewel. It was like 2016. Rick would host poker's in the penthouse there.
Starting point is 01:19:09 He'd have housekeeping hang sheets all over the mirrors before the games, Two notable people would join. Dallas billionaire Andy Beale, who you hear stories about all the time, and Anthony Kim, who's the golfer, bit through his struggles. He said typically on Sunday, we take Rick to Love Field using the hotel car. In one particular morning, we pulled up to the private hangar gate, rang the intercom, and he told the attendant he was here to fly out on a tail number that started with AB. This is Rick Solomon.
Starting point is 01:19:38 Once the gate opened, he told his passenger that he took so much money off of Andy Beale, The part of the payout was a flight back to Vegas on his PJ. That's awesome. He said Rick was a nice dude. He'd leave you a great tip. Anthony Kim was a disaster because of his habits, but had a cool dog and his wife was sweet. What's his habits? Anthony Kim is drugs and alcohol.
Starting point is 01:20:01 He lost a lot of money, right? I mean, he had an insurance policy or something. Oh, is that guy? And then he got live money and. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:20:11 He says, tell Food E.C.K., we need a food refit. few on the new Chick-fil-A sandwich and Waffle Breakfast Sandwich. Oh, yeah. There you go. Rick Solomon, Dallas Resident. I have two playground topics. The first, spontaneous human combustion. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:20:28 Dude, I was walking around. Every day. Constantly worried. We had a book with, like, a chapter on it. It was just passed around. Fuck, just explode. Don't hold those farts in. That's from Jonathan.
Starting point is 01:20:40 The second one from David. gang signs at some point would get you in trouble yeah yeah for sure I don't even know the suburban parents
Starting point is 01:20:52 were very worried about learning gang signs I don't know that I knew anyone who knew any real they treated it like it was a beetle juice is that related to the
Starting point is 01:21:02 like if you blink your lights yeah gang initiation time yeah yeah yeah this from Paul, quick hit, Kevin James is Timu John Goodman. Uh-uh. No.
Starting point is 01:21:16 Won't stand for it. I think that's a compliment. Yeah, I also won't stand for it. He's nowhere near Timu John Goodman. He's several levers below. Nope. Got a bunch of emails about the death in my fridge when I got home. My freezer, actually.
Starting point is 01:21:32 Oh, somebody unplugged it? Yeah, one of the people who lives in my house. You'll never know who. It's really... Can't investigators have... reached the bottom of it yet. Why? Somebody who, like, had people over when I was away and needed to plug in, like,
Starting point is 01:21:48 pumps for pool floats and, uh, like a thing to run. Bad idea. Um, yeah. When I got home, it was, I'm sure this plug doesn't go anywhere. Yeah. Incredible, dude. And, uh, I got to say, I'm not a hunter, but if that's what you're, I mean, I guess once it's rotting, that's got, that's death.
Starting point is 01:22:07 And I had a couple people email me and were like, I, uh, I'm an EMT. that's, I've had this happen in my freezer. I don't know, we might have to throw it out. I've got it to a point where it's acceptable, but I feel like it's never going to not smell like bleach. But what if you plug it back in? We tried that. And it's still bad?
Starting point is 01:22:26 Oh, I plugged it back in and let it run for a couple days, and then it was like, that's it. We're cleaning this out. And then it was, I threw up. Wow. Yeah. Wow. Yeah, try water vinegar and a little.
Starting point is 01:22:41 Leverner. Got it. Anything with vinegar to fix something is very country. Man, I was thinking about the sawdust. Got an ear infection? Poor vinegar. The sawdust in the classroom the other night. Are we still doing that?
Starting point is 01:22:54 I heard my daughter's gossiping about a kid who threw up in class. They were laughing about it. And I was like, they put down the dust. Did they? They were like, I don't know what that is. Well, they used to put something down that smelled worse than throw up. Well, now. So we knew somebody threw up.
Starting point is 01:23:08 Like turpentine or something. Well, they already have a box of it. here so they just use some of the kitty litter that's right yeah mandated my daughter's class for sure if that's what she wants to be that day some days and i had a beaten morning some days a giant man i uh got out of the shower and was uh you know drying off and picked up a slow picked up a towel one of the new cats had apparently diarrhea all over the towel dude what are we doing here i'm going to do all this just picking it up and sent it flying everywhere now i got i just got out of the shower and there's cat diary on my leg.
Starting point is 01:23:44 We were recently talking about, uh, yeah, why did you bring that up? I don't know. That didn't fit any, what were we just talking about? No, I don't. How did that fit the store of the fridge? It was gross. He wanted to, he was like, that's a gross thing. Hey, I have gross things.
Starting point is 01:23:57 I was, you don't think that that's like the fridge situation? I was just following up. I wouldn't, in any, in any case, yeah. Okay, I told you guys, climate pledge arena. I got fooled by that. Yeah, I thought it was like. Seattle? Yeah, Portland, Seattle.
Starting point is 01:24:12 Yeah, Portland. Do you guys know the name of the ballpark in Cincinnati? Great American Ballpark. Riverfront. Great American ballpark. And I think I also foolishly have always thought that was just some, boy, that's nice. No, I've known. Yeah, I thought I was like hot dogs or something.
Starting point is 01:24:29 It's Great American Insurance Company. Yeah. You just name your company. Great American. Feel Good Emotions Incorporated. And then you can be Feel Good Emotions Ballpark. Park. They must be doing well.
Starting point is 01:24:44 They got a stadium. They do. It always means you're doing well. Enron was doing excellent. Well, at one point. What was the bell? Southwestern, no, Liberty.
Starting point is 01:24:59 AmeriQuest. AmeriQuest. American Quest. Didn't they kind of? Had some bad times? But I had some fraud. Someone got to keep that bell, right? Isn't it in like Chuck Morgan's backyard or something?
Starting point is 01:25:09 No, it's in John Blake's bedroom. Yeah, there you go. You know, I had a... Maybe he's got another one. Home insurance policy from like an old faithful insurance. And I was just thinking about founding a brand new company and calling it old, like, this isn't... They're committing a bit of fraud on me.
Starting point is 01:25:27 But you still used them. Are we done? I'm done. All right. We'll take a little break here at Half Price Books, the greatest half-price books in the world. Is Half-Price Books only Dallas? There's some in other cities in Texas
Starting point is 01:25:46 Is this where it originated though? Yeah This very one This was once a field All right The Dunza Dunza Miccaraba
Starting point is 01:25:59 Hello Doddy It's me, Peewee Who were you calling from? Listen, I'll prove it You're listening to The Dumzone Yeah we're here at half-price books the flagship, the first one,
Starting point is 01:26:31 had a very angry employee come up to me and push me against the wall during the break. And it's all because of you. Because you had said, you think there's a few other locations around Texas. They said there's actually 188 other locations across the U.S. No puppet!
Starting point is 01:26:54 Half price at all of them, well? We're at the first. We're at the first one, though. The Qualis drone is here. I don't know if you knew that, but we have the drone outside. That's just like the Gidger Blimp. The what?
Starting point is 01:27:07 I don't know. What did I say? The Gidger. Gidger. I like it. Gidger blimping. Anyway, there you can see. High atop, if you watch the YouTube show, you can see right there.
Starting point is 01:27:19 High atop. There it is. There she is. Look how big it is. What coverage. That's what she said. Look how big it is. And, yeah, we're at half-price books.
Starting point is 01:27:30 We're here for M.F. Hamlin and his book, Swimming at Low Tide. And we'll talk to him during closing remarks a little bit more. And right now, we want to promote a couple of things. One is, we did it earlier, but we'll do it again. The next Friday will be at Fair Lease up in Allen. I wanted to tell you exactly where. I've been told that you have a phone and you can just search it. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:27:57 So do it. Figure it out. There'll be food trucks, I think. There'll be some TV prize giveaways. We're kicking off football season. That's right. That's how you get football season started by kicking it off. That's right.
Starting point is 01:28:11 And here we want to promote a couple of things as well. Now, joining us, we have Julie Dobbs. We all know and love Julie, don't we? We love Julie Dobbs. From the long game. Hi, everybody. From the freak. Hello.
Starting point is 01:28:23 Yes. That's right. That happened. From Stars' sideline reporter. What do you call? What are you called when you did that? Rinkside. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:28:35 Rinkside reporting at hockey games. Did some football reporting, did some baseball reporting, did the freak, did the ticket, did too many things in my life. You know what I'm thinking. The fishing show. The fishing show. Yeah, that was the biggest one for sure. Do you still do it?
Starting point is 01:28:50 You know, I don't, I guess I don't. They didn't ever reach back out. Dude, I'm not kidding you. That's the best way to break up with it. I would not text her this because I didn't want to be weird, but sometimes I'd be at the bar like 1 a.m. fucked up and you're like, Julie's on TV. Why are they running this right now?
Starting point is 01:29:08 They're like run Fox Sports Southwest programming. I'm like, all right. It'd be like after Rangers live. So it was actually great for popping up on TVs at the bar. It was like my claim to fame. Very funny. And cancer. Oh, and cancer, yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:24 Well, she defeated cancer. She beat it. Yeah, I beat cancer for me for now. That's why she said she's way better. I don't want to say forever, but I'm so far so good. She said that? Whoa. She said that?
Starting point is 01:29:36 You said it, yeah. You're like, I kicked cancer's ass. Dolly succumbed. Dolly's like, hey, whatever, cancer. That weak bitch. Go ahead and take me. That's not even okay yet. It's like been a day.
Starting point is 01:29:47 Oh, don't do okay yet. Let's say it's not okay. It's Dolly. But don't bring me into this. Or it is. Why didn't you get a couple of dollies after the cancer thing? Like dolly size. Do they have dolly size?
Starting point is 01:29:59 Why didn't you get a couple of dollies after the cancer thing? I mean, you had the chance, right? I'm going to go back home. I'm just saying you, did you sit there and have an opportunity and was your husband, like, with you in the room as they're like, how big do you think? We're here. Right. This is where we're at.
Starting point is 01:30:14 Were you just like how. We're already here. The doctor is saying, how big? And you're like, well, I just want it to be normal. What do you think, honey? And he's like, oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, normal. Just make it...
Starting point is 01:30:24 I think he, like... Tasteful. Tastefully huge, please. And then as you turned your head, like, he's doing this to the doctor, like... No, I think that actually happened. I think that actually happened, and so it got... They're a little bigger than you. I didn't originally.
Starting point is 01:30:41 You know, it's a delicate... He slipped him a 20. It's a delicate balance because it's a weird... It's not like you're just getting a boob job like any other boob job. So you have to... You can't go crazy with it. Oh, you can't? No.
Starting point is 01:30:52 Oh, no. Yeah. But your husband believed in you, though. There's a lot of technical stuff. Who knew cancer was that bad? Yeah. It can even affect. Anyway, also joining us here to talk about Julie is the great Jimmy Nelson.
Starting point is 01:31:07 He is our comedian friend. Wow. Thank you. Oh, my God. Stop. That's enough. He is a firefighter. Local firefighter regional stand-up comedian.
Starting point is 01:31:18 He's a stand-up comedian. And he has been. out of the game for a little while? Yeah, just had a baby. Wait, you had another one? I had another one.
Starting point is 01:31:28 Wow. Yeah, really trying to stack them up. He's been on the sidelines, but he's willing to come out of this mini retirement. We had to land a helicopter on his field. Walk over. For Saturday at five.
Starting point is 01:31:41 At Dallas Comedy Club, yeah, that's right. It's a perfect time for the young father, the new father to. Yeah. You'll be home. I'll be home, honey, in a couple hours, you know,
Starting point is 01:31:50 before bedtime. I'm excited. about it. Yeah, you decided to leave the house? Yeah, show up drunk right in time to... Right at bedtime. Right at bedtime. He'll sing a nice little song for him. This was a case where Jake, who's been an instrumental in putting this thing together at the Dallas Comedy Club, but after the last one, they were like, how can we make it
Starting point is 01:32:10 a little bit better next time? And Jake's like, we need the best. And I was like, no, he's not doing comedy now. He's like, we got to go get him. And so we went out to this old. It was an old boat out in the swamp. I didn't know he'd moved there. And, yeah, we kind of woke him up. He had bottles knocked off. Yeah, he's drinking.
Starting point is 01:32:32 He had his gun lying next to him. We need you for one more job. We're like, Jimmy. And he's like, I haven't heard that name. But he'll be there. He will be there. He will be the headliner. How long have you been off from comedy?
Starting point is 01:32:44 Since that punchline show, like May. Yeah. Yeah. Have you been making your family laugh? So it'll go good. Yeah. Everybody. You trying your jokes out, though?
Starting point is 01:32:55 Try it. Baby suck, though. They're really bad audiences. You need to train them better. Yeah. I like to do if I want to work on something. I have my wife get in the shower and I, because then I can hear but she can't see me and I can't see her.
Starting point is 01:33:08 Like I don't want any visual like pity. Like a joke glory hole. Exactly like that. I can hear it, but there's no, that's exactly what it is. You will do your set. Yes. In the shower and she'll react possibly to the other room. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:33:21 Is the shower? on. Yeah, yeah. When she's in there, yeah. It's the best thing I can do some nights, right? If you can't get out. And she's very honest.
Starting point is 01:33:30 Like, I don't like that. Well, yeah, I would almost think it's too much, like maybe to a fault. No, I mean, she's cool with whatever content.
Starting point is 01:33:40 She just is like, eh, you know, that sounds stupid. But also, my father-in-law is going to be there Saturday. It's coming in town. Oh, no.
Starting point is 01:33:47 What do you mean? Oh, no. Was he, do you want him to see your comedy? I don't give him. Okay, I know he's... I don't care.
Starting point is 01:33:52 There's no one that I care left of what they think of me. Oh. In this whole world. I was just trying to scan it and being like, I just don't think... No, in some form or fashion, dead.
Starting point is 01:34:03 So if you go to dumbzone.com... Don't do it this way. Our events page. Is that the easiest way? I thought you were doing a bit. No, I think it's very easy. I was trying to be... Okay.
Starting point is 01:34:14 I was trying to do it the way you yelled at me to do it before. Now it's muddled. Okay. Well, you know, before it was what said people to wrong, Connie Roso is a joke. Yeah. Dumbzone.com our events page, and there's a link right there.
Starting point is 01:34:26 Okay. Now, I could tell you to go to DCC that website and scroll down, like, I'm trying to make it easy. Got it. That's all I remember. You want the traffic, bro. You want the DumbZone traffic. Oh, my God. I can't wait to go to the mailbox for the DumbZone.
Starting point is 01:34:39 I bought a jet ski with my traffic in check out the other day. There you go. Paid. Hell yeah. Paid an impression. So why Julie has a cast. Julie does have a cast She has a broken right arm wrist
Starting point is 01:34:55 I have a broken right wrist It's like some sort of radius bone or something Right here it's a fracture And that's a full that's an old school cast Like nowadays they kind of air cast year What I had was nothing like that I could take it off I think I think that there's way cooler casts out there now
Starting point is 01:35:12 And somehow I got this thing And yes people can sign it And I already have lots of kids And anybody I know signing it. I think we, I don't even think I have to open it up for guesses. We know what this was, right? What?
Starting point is 01:35:26 Tennis? No. Not tennis? Oh, pickleball. Pickleball. No. It's probably pickleball. This was neither of those.
Starting point is 01:35:32 Skateboarding. No, it wasn't skateboarding. Go ahead. I'll tell you, unless you have more brilliant guesses. Naked twister. No. They're only going to get more and more like. Okay.
Starting point is 01:35:45 So the short version is I slipped and fell at the pool. Okay. It was really slick. That used to happen to me a lot, too. What are you trying to say? Climsy. She only does have a Yeti full of a lot. What does keep happening at the pool?
Starting point is 01:36:00 It was, I had like one sip of my margarita, so it had nothing to do with that. It's only one, yeah. I mean, at least I admitted to having one sip and having a margarita, but that's truly all I'd have. This is like Bill Belichick watching football. Like, I just am like, I know that point. Right. I used to run that. The play of I'll admit to having a.
Starting point is 01:36:19 Little. Why, I admit to that. If it was that. No, it was like Thursday. Rumma only had one. Red herrings everywhere. It was Thursday at, I don't know, 6.30 or something like that, a week ago today. With the kids.
Starting point is 01:36:31 That seems like prime time for you. With the kids. We'd finally gotten everybody else situated from school. They each had a friend. We went to the pool. There's only like a week left of the pool being open. This is the DAC, right? Can I defend her briefly as a drunk and she's someone who likes to drink?
Starting point is 01:36:45 The problem with her and me, don't take this as a shot. she's not like the most court like we're both kind of clumsy people yeah so you're already going to be falling yeah or kind of looking goofy and that also does not help like so now anything that happens everyone's like oh you see she did you think of julie as like uh like i don't know i'm not saying you didn't play sports but i did thank you very much i've just so did i can see that it's a clumsy personality at least there you go i like the the gentle toss up to danes You think Julie is an oath, right? Dan, don't leave me hanging right now, man.
Starting point is 01:37:25 Totally uncoordinated. Kind of surprise she's made it this long. Walking into walls. Have you contacted Frankl and Frankel? Was there any... God, he's good. You know what? No.
Starting point is 01:37:34 214 or 817, all threes. That would be a great, if indeed you had to call, you had a personal injury, maybe the insurance company is fighting you. The evolution of your participation in lawyer ads. There you go. I mean, that's the first person I would think of. about one of them that's funny.
Starting point is 01:37:49 Would it be? Yeah, Franklfirm.com. Of course. Who you go to when you call, you will get a partner on the line. Ooh. Not just some idiot like Blake. You'll get somebody really important, like Jake. There we go.
Starting point is 01:38:03 Yeah. And then they'll kind of shoot you straight too if your case isn't for them or, you know, what next steps would be. They're awesome to work with. They're very cool dudes as well. So call Frankel and Frankl. Frankl, thank you, Jim. Who's at fault here?
Starting point is 01:38:19 So I think I'm at fault, but well, actually, no. Don't say that. You're on air. I'm not trying to make any money from the situation. It was just an accident. But I actually was not at fault. You know who was at fault? These damn crows.
Starting point is 01:38:34 And I'll tell you why. I'll tell you why. Have you all seen a lot of crows around lately? Like, they're all over the place. Although I just heard today that maybe they're actually grackles. This is like getting into witchy terracques. Yeah. Have you guys?
Starting point is 01:38:48 Notice the southeasterly wind whipping over the head and loathe? You can't find any good nudes to boil anymore. Have you noticed this? There's so many crows around. Okay, so here's what happened. So we're at the pool. It's like 6 o'clock. We get there and like any mom with kids knows.
Starting point is 01:39:04 Am or PM? At PM. And I've got the kids out of school. Found them each a friend, which is like a whole thing. And we get to the pool. Kelly was getting off the golf course with, with Ryder and his friend. and then I had Anna and her friend, and we all met at the pool.
Starting point is 01:39:20 I was so excited. Are you with some of your lady friends, too? No. No, I was by myself. I was trying to get a good visual. Well, you're making a lot of assumptions. I'm trying to get a visual. It was truly like very.
Starting point is 01:39:30 I just have Julie and all her lady friends are in bathing suits. They're all jerking. Every time. I'm very excited. Everyone has baby oil. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's just like moms at the pool. Where the cocktails made at home and brought in or was there like a back of the car bar set up?
Starting point is 01:39:45 Yeah. How do you get a margarita at the local pool? It's a country. club. I mean, they... Oh, wow. You've been put in your place. You guys have been there. You know this. You have been put in your place. We just got a water fountain. Here's where I'm at. Here me's a man of the earth, a man of the people. Well, that's where I play tennis. That's where Kelly plays golf. You guys know all this. Come on. You said DAC and I was like, oh, Dallas Aquatic Center. No, Dallas Athletic Club. And it was tropical night. So I'm...
Starting point is 01:40:12 What are you going to do pass on a much? I'm so excited. Yes. They'd already had like Hawaiian night, so I think they had to make. this one tropical night, not to like double up. Sure. I had my three free mites. I was all the same like lays and stuff left over from Hawaiian night. But I get real excited about a tropical night. God.
Starting point is 01:40:28 No doubt. Yeah. So I sit there. I'm like, man, I have solved week nights. The kids are swimming with their friends. I can just order a drink from the bar. The lady comes up and she asks if I want anything else. I'd order my margarita.
Starting point is 01:40:40 And I'm like, she's kind of staring at me. And I wasn't quite ready to order. But I felt like I should because she was staring at me. And so I'm like, well, sure, bring me some caseo and some chips. She's like, okay. She brings me the queso and the chips. Then I order the kids food because kids are, like, if you don't feed them by 6-10, like they turn into monsters and it was 6 o'clock.
Starting point is 01:40:57 So I ordered all their food. It gets delivered. So I'm on this lounger. I've got my book. I've got my queso, my margarita. I'm living the dream. Tropical night, okay? And then she puts the kids food on my lounger.
Starting point is 01:41:10 And I'm like, no, no, like, let's give them their own table over there. They're going to sit at the table once they get out of the pool and eat their food. base is not an issue? No, there were not many people in tropical night, this particular night. Thank God. They all would have seen me go down. And so the kids' food gets put on this table over there. That's when the crows come in.
Starting point is 01:41:31 And I'm talking like 15 crows, and they go towards all the kids' food that I had just ordered. And if your kids don't eat the food, like I said, they turn into monsters. And I don't want those crows taking their food. So I start walking over there real fast and kind of like gesturing for help from the people. I'm like, oh, there's a lot of crows here. on the food and then I turn my head and I see one of the crows with a chip in his, a whole chip in its mouth is like half the size of the crow and he's flying off like into the sunset with
Starting point is 01:42:00 one of my chips and then I see his friends going for the queso. And then I saw that I had a lid that had been removed from the queso by me just sitting there. So I'm like, okay, okay, I can solve this. I'm trying to figure out how to protect two different places full of food. Food that is very important to them and me. I see the chip flying off. And so I go back and I'm like, I'm going to just grab this casso lid real quick, put it on, and then I'm going to go back to protect the kids' food.
Starting point is 01:42:25 And somewhere in between, I'm not running, but I'm like fast walking to save the queso. And I fly, I slip and fall and catch myself with my wrist. And that's when I fractured it. And I don't know. Footage? I don't know if the... Security footage.
Starting point is 01:42:46 It's got to be footage. Oh gosh. It's got to be footage. You know our emails. Yeah, we know someone who works there, right? Plenty of people who work there. I don't know. And I was like, if you're a lady, you always think, like, you overthink what you're going
Starting point is 01:42:58 to wear to the pool because you know you're just kind of walking around and everyone's... I wasn't a two-piece. And I don't do this very often. So I was very, very embarrassed. Not only to lose my case, though, fracture my wrist, but eat it in a two-piece at the pool in front of people. It was terrible. Exposure, you're fine. Yeah. Kelly's like floating around, frolicing with the kids in the pool and I'm like, hello, I just fell. And he's like,
Starting point is 01:43:21 oh, ha, ha, because, you know, I'm kind of goofy like that to your point. And I'm like, no, Kelly, this was a real fall. Bone sticking out of your arm. Yeah, like this was bad. And so he comes over. That's a compliment. Yeah. That's a compliment that they didn't rush to your aid. It is. If you were older, they'd be like, oh, Jesus Christ. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Call 911. There you go. That's good news. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:43:42 Yeah. Yeah. There was a Dom's own listener there, too. I need to get his name, but he saw it. Yes. He saw it. Yeah. But all the two-piece stayed on.
Starting point is 01:43:52 That's what we're going on. The two-piece did stay on. Nothing fell out of it. Oh, God. I'm just trying to just paint the picture for the people. Does he do this to you or just me? Oh, yeah. He asked me if my balls come out.
Starting point is 01:44:02 Way more than I'd like. He even texts me outside of the show. They come out way less than I'm like. Let me see those things. I'm like, Dan, please. Yeah. Ask you about your boobs and everything else. Well, so that's what happened.
Starting point is 01:44:15 So it was the crow. The crow got the best of me. It took my case, so it took my chip, took my pride, and I am in a hard cast for six to eight weeks. No surgery, though. No surgery. It is a non-displaced fracture. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:44:30 And it sucks. Did you know right away? Could you feel it break? Or like... It hurt really bad. Did you go to the hospital right there? No. I sat there for two hours.
Starting point is 01:44:38 I sing it while the kids swam. And then I was. I, well, yeah, with my left morning. I did finish the one margarina. It's tropical part. It's tropical night. I didn't go for another, though. Drove home one-handed with, you know, just making sure that I could at least get the kids home.
Starting point is 01:44:57 And then the next morning we did urgent care. And then I went straight to an ortho and found out how bad it actually was. Oh. Yeah. He just went to sleep with it. I slept with it, yeah. Damn. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:10 So here we are. That's why I didn't want to tell you like over text or something. I'm like, I have to explain this to you guys in person. I'm glad. A very long text, yeah. Yeah, it would have been. I mean, but the short version is I slipped and fell. I slipped and fell.
Starting point is 01:45:23 So if you haven't been up in a few months, do you, Jimmy, are you just like writing all the time or you just take the time off? Take the time off. For real. Yeah. You're not keeping notes? I'm keeping some notes. I'm keeping some notes. I'm keeping some of the baby did something.
Starting point is 01:45:36 Man, I, I, so many people are doing those. The baby jokes? Yeah. That's okay. They're funny. Yeah, I get it. We'll see. Come out Saturday and find out.
Starting point is 01:45:47 The set's not really created yet. It's, uh, you know, you get, it's like jazz sometimes. I love that. It's about the notes you don't play. I love it. Yeah. You know, this guy? A hush goes over the crowd.
Starting point is 01:46:01 He's being weird. You know, this guy's been doing stand-up? Oh, yeah. Okay. I didn't know how familiar you were with his career now. I heard the tales. He, uh, he was very, he, he, he was very, he, he, he, he, he, he was. couldn't make the last one. He actually, I think initially committed and then was like,
Starting point is 01:46:14 I just checked my kid as being born two days before. I like checked my calendar. The ultimate dad. Nothing on the calendar. Signed me out. I was like, all right, good deal. And I was like, oh, wait, two days prior to that, I will be having a baby. But like the second I got my phone after we got done that night, he was like, how to go. So I was very proud to report back like we got through it. But man, yeah, you know, I'm not going to, he knows the whole deal. I'm not going to tell you how depressing open mics are. Open mics. He's He's got to grind through it. The saddest thing.
Starting point is 01:46:42 He's got to grind through it. Gosh. Is that how you started? You have to. It's the only way to start. There was one in Fort Worth at Houston Street. Don't even know if that bar is still there anymore. Big Laugh maybe?
Starting point is 01:46:53 No, it was called. It was called Houston Street. Okay, Houston Street. And there was a homeless guy that would be there. And he kind of lived in the alley next to it. And he found out if he put his name at last on the open mic list. They'd let him hang out. They couldn't kick him out.
Starting point is 01:47:08 Oh, wow. So that's Jesus. Every Tuesday night you'd go down downtown Fort Worth, an old Larry would be there. And he'd just go in the back and like nap. And then he would. And he'd go up to the mic at the very end and go knock, knock. And everyone go, who's there?
Starting point is 01:47:26 And you'd go 9-11. And you'd go, 9-11 who? I thought you said you'd never forget. And it was set up to where the microphone was like in front of the door. So he would do that joke, same joke every time, and then just fade into the mess. That is awesome. I don't even walk out. I want to ask all the people there and they're like, Larry's been dead for 25 years.
Starting point is 01:47:49 What are you talking about? That's, yeah, you get people who just kind of want to talk. It's like a social thing for a lot of people. Like, you know, they're not trying to be the next Ralph Barbosa. They just want to get drunk away from their family on a Tuesday. And it's. Take up a hobby. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:48:06 Yeah. Jake, what's your like? What type of things do you joke about? Do you do the family, dad, like Nate Burgatsi kind of humor? Or what are we talking about here? Are you like super dirty and raunchy? I don't know. You'll have to come on out.
Starting point is 01:48:22 Well, I'm going to. Are you going to know? I want to. She asked me this. She texted me this morning and was like, yeah, how do I go to this? And I didn't want to just be like, well, buy a ticket. Yeah, no, we'll get her in. I should text Dan.
Starting point is 01:48:39 You should text Dan. I knew you wouldn't reply. I knew when I was texting. I was like, I'm not going to get anything. But I was all excited. I didn't know what to say. I didn't know what to say. I'd be like,
Starting point is 01:48:46 I don't know. The link is out there. Buy a ticket. I'd love to come. I'd love to come, but it's Tropical Night of the Rec Center. I'm going to have to skip. I'm really excited to see this.
Starting point is 01:48:56 Yeah, you want to do five? It's not my show. No, absolutely not. Do you want to do tight five? No. Absolutely not. But I am going to come. The five o'clock thing did throw me off because when I saw that,
Starting point is 01:49:06 I was like, oh, because I've got a couple places to deliver kids, but I want to try to figure it out. I need to see this. Will you be there? Is everyone going to be there? Absolutely. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:49:16 Okay, good. Wouldn't miss it for the world. Go to dumbzone. com. Oh, I wanted to ask you about one more thing. I think you had told me, maybe you sent me a website before that had some like scanner audio types that were on crime radar app now. Ooh, okay.
Starting point is 01:49:32 Love it. Yeah. Like, it just gives me a look at your life a little bit. I think you say, yeah, I forgot what an event that was. Some big fire. Oh, the explosion. Okay, yeah. And I sent you, there's like, that's all public record.
Starting point is 01:49:45 So, like, the radio traffic on those, you can go see. Yeah. I sent that to you. This one is just the dispatch calls, but just putting in your address and getting all the calls in your neighborhood. You don't want to flip over to offenders. Ooh. But if you just want to look at. Graveind is probably not too bad.
Starting point is 01:50:02 It's not horrible, but yeah, there's a lot of woman fall. There's a lot of tree, like a cat in tree. Yeah, there you go. But it's just nice to see the constant flow of like the stuff that people have to respond to. There's a guy on the train tracks laying down near my house two days ago. That was on the thing. Yeah, there's a guy laying on the train over by Main Street. It feels like a YP.
Starting point is 01:50:28 Why is that an MP? Yeah, it looks like he's got a goal. Let him fulfill that. Yeah. Yeah. When you are a fireman, we've learned about your schedule, like, what is it, two days on, three days off? One on, two off. Okay. What does paternity leave? Get 12 weeks. Wow. A quarter. That's awesome. Yeah. That's why I have a beard. Twelve weeks a quarter? A full quarter. Oh, okay. Got it. You get a quarter. A little business talk. Julie, you wouldn't get it. If you weren't having so many marks at Tropical Night.
Starting point is 01:51:00 I know what a quarter is. Thank you very much. Yes, you look unrecognito. I mean, you're a different person from the guy I first met. This is my midlife crisis. I'm going to have different facial hair every time I come on the show. This is the third look. It's better than doing stand-up. You had a real strong, you know, strong in many ways, mustache.
Starting point is 01:51:22 Thank you, Dan. Yeah, it just could be offensive or could just be, you know, I don't know. He's just. No, no, he just had a fireman. He looks like the most central casting fireman. But with your smile and your, you know, your comedy, I don't know, it just fit. It fit all like it was weird, but it was perfect. And then you went totally shaved and you look like a little baby.
Starting point is 01:51:45 I'm like I'm too handsome to be funny now. This guy gets mad when we call him a little baby fate. But when you shave a mustache after having one for so long, it does make you look so much younger. Yeah. And now you have aged a little more, I guess, but you're somewhere in the middle. That's what I was going for. The beard. just I'm off. Do they make you shave your beard as a fireman?
Starting point is 01:52:06 Not allowed to have one. Oh, like the Yankees. It could catch on fire. Oh, is that why? Yeah. That's the seal of the face piece goes around. You knew a guy who knew a little something about that, right? There is a guy once back in World War I who would, they had a gas mask type thing, you know, because of a germ warfare or whatever. Yeah. So they would have to wear those. But he loved his mustache, so what he would do is he shaved the mustache here and here, and then it would just fit right on there. And then some Jewish guys made fun of
Starting point is 01:52:38 them for it. What happened to be? I don't know. You ate 15 years? Certainly somebody did. The guy I'm going to kick some star, some shit on. The guy I speak of is Charlie Chaplin. That's right. He would go on to become a famous movie star. That's right. Probably only married women of age. Well, they were
Starting point is 01:52:54 of a certain age, and then when they got a little older, he would get rid of them and get another one that was that age again. Isn't he one of those that? Yeah, I'm almost positive, yeah. One of the very few. The original Decaprio. That's interesting.
Starting point is 01:53:07 I think he's gay. Decaprio? Yeah. I think it's a beard thing. Okay. Right? You're from enough people that are like he's living with the same dude forever. Really?
Starting point is 01:53:15 Yeah. And then all the ladies are just some sort of cover up? You know, it's just a hang out. Hmm. You think I personally think it's possible to hang out with women with just out viewing them as a sexual object that I have to. But they're all like supermodels. I mean, if that's not how you, that's gay or Leonardo de
Starting point is 01:53:29 Capriotia. So we're going to do news. It's going to be brought to us by Brain Topia. You ever hear of Brain Topia, Julie? Yes, my kids will be there in 45 minutes. Mine were there yesterday. What's Brain Topia? And speaking of, it is neural feedback.
Starting point is 01:53:42 And it is, like if you deal with sleep issues, autism, anxiety, PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, people who are, like, rewiring their brain. We actually brought up the, I was thinking about Easton Wolf recently, our helicopter crash, Amigo. He is now a Braintopia customer. So if you've experienced any sort of memory loss or sometimes sleep issues, Brain Topia is good for that stuff. I've got both kids going for different reasons, and I learned from you from your experience with your son. Yeah, it's amazing. Both my kids go, I've been, our kids were kind of similar in their,
Starting point is 01:54:20 I don't know, ADHD, anxiety, whatever you want to call all the diagnoses that they got. And I didn't know where to turn. And I found Braintopia and it's been super life-changing. And that's why I like to spread the word now. So there you go. BraintopiaCinters.com. Here's Jane with the Dobs Zone News. All right. Among the numbers that I think we're just kind of guessing at,
Starting point is 01:54:46 economic development provided by the Olympics or the Super Bowl, the number of... No, it's exactly $400 million. I know it. I put pen to paper. That's how much business will be brought in here. 400 million, exactly. Well, can I see the numbers that you use to come up with that?
Starting point is 01:55:03 Do you have any sort of way? You just won't believe the people from different regions that will come in here and spend $400 million. They also will, a lot of times you'll see a number around the Super Bowl. Well, they'll guess it how much prostitution money will be. They're like, God. Oh, yeah. This is the biggest 90 of the year for that. Here's another one that I think is bullshit.
Starting point is 01:55:23 I'm going to run this by Jimmy Nelson. We have a big fire out in Palapinto and, Jack counties right now. Yeah. The Ross Fire. Now by like a Possum Kingdom Band. Okay. And in every one of these news stories, you will see a...
Starting point is 01:55:39 Why didn't they think of that? Every one of these news stories has a percentage that the fire is contained. Oh, yeah. Okay. Ross, this morning, 12% contained. Oh, really? Now, what are we doing there? Is there an aerial view of that where they actually...
Starting point is 01:55:57 Fireman. I don't think they're sending those numbers off to NASA for verification. Okay. They're not satellite photowing it. Yeah. Okay. It feels like a guy guessed. Like, why not just say 10?
Starting point is 01:56:08 We got, we all understand what 10% mean. 12 makes you think that they actually do have a thing, though. Right? Yeah. I mean, it does feel. If they just said 10. Yeah. I guess that's true.
Starting point is 01:56:17 Now, is there, uh, like, I know that if you're a firefighter, you can go do, um, like, mobile IVs in my past life. That was a pretty big part of my opinion. Can you go do, like, contract firefighting? Yeah, there's actually all sorts of stuff you can do. I don't know about, like, hot shots or are they, like, fire around. Well, that's called Wildland Firefighting. Okay.
Starting point is 01:56:39 That's like a different set of certs. The real men. The real men. Yeah, just the gardeners of the fire department. But, yeah, Dallas has a wildland team, and they send guys out, and they go to those events and go all over the country. Well, I mean, yeah, events makes it feel like it's a tropical night. Yeah. Festival.
Starting point is 01:56:59 It's not really an event. As is all the rage, Blake, the city of Wiley has voted to end their contract with flock technologies. Oh. Wow. I just got into that Ben Jordan guy, you know, his YouTube. He's like an IT hacker-type dude musician, but he's like the one that hacked him and could record himself on it and be like, I just did this pretty easily. Okay, I saw one where they went to a police convention. And they booted him.
Starting point is 01:57:34 Yes. And then they canceled his hotel reservation. Yes. So they set up all around the convention and used all the equipment that the flock people use to get all of the cell phone conversations from all of the flock executives, all of the politicians, all of the police departments that were there. They had photos of all of them. They, like, completely turned this thing upside down. That's awesome.
Starting point is 01:57:57 And we have all your info now. We'll be using it going forward. We have your cell signals now. And it's stuff that I don't understand, but it looked like... That's great. Yeah. Well, I watched probably an hour and a half of his videos, and I am unable to communicate how any of it works.
Starting point is 01:58:11 Yeah. It's all very complicated. Like Bitcoin. But I don't know. When I see stories like this, it makes me feel that it probably feels good to vote against flock, but there's probably something worse. That they're like, okay, we'll take that one down. Yeah, I mean, this infiltrated our lives, and how come now we're all going nuts over it?
Starting point is 01:58:34 I guess just the proliferation abuse, the cases of abuse being reported are out of control now. There's a bunch of cops, like stalking ex-girlfriends. I saw one story about that, yeah. A lot of them. There was a couple where there was a... She was doing that? No, there was like kids gymnastics school that had a flock camera or something, or they could get in on the network. work too.
Starting point is 01:58:57 There's a bunch of weird, very weird. A good guy watching his daughter do gymnastics. Maybe just a guy loves gymnastics? Or, yeah. His daughter. Or just loves his daughter? I saw one about a female cop that was tracking her boyfriend, and I thought that was about the hottest thing I'd ever.
Starting point is 01:59:12 I want to be surveilled to that degree. I want someone to care that much about me. I like how Jimmy, though, firefighter is like, yeah, it's the cops. Right, we would never. Yeah. I mean, if we had access to it, we wouldn't treat it right. Are you tracking this story at all, Blake, of TCU and the Fort Worth Star Telegram? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:59:36 Sort of rewind to the very beginning. So a safety that they got in the portal was dismissed from the team after he got in a fight in the locker room. Apparently he sucker punched somebody and sent him to the hospital, and they kicked him off the team. Damn portal guys. Yeah. Are they signing contracts now? The victims. Suppose a dad took to social media and kind of explained everything,
Starting point is 02:00:02 including practice footage when it started and text messages were leaked. Well, that's where I think a lot of this information from the case came from. TCU, I think, felt that that was a little too intrusive. Maybe he got details they didn't want out. And so they have revoked the credentials of a Fort Worth Star Telegram member who's been my go-to for TCU news for quite a while, Stephen Johnson. So they revoked his credential, but he had already booked everything for Ireland. Remember, they're opening up the season this weekend in Dublin.
Starting point is 02:00:33 Yeah. So he will be on the trip, but the rest of the season, his credential has been revoked. Wow. It's a really bad look for the university. He'll at least get to meet Jordan Hudson. Wait, so they've decided, okay, you're a reporter who covers the team. You report something accurately, but they think it's you reported too much. that's well they haven't said anything he's done a coaches show he's done a press conference i'm talking
Starting point is 02:00:59 about the head coach sunny dykes he's not been asked about it he no one from the university's talked about this since they revoked his credit oh they just did it and so so it's just speculation the star telegram is controlling the narrative and it was only him yeah and he was not the only one to report on the story but for some reason they picked him and he got slapped on the wrist this will help him for sure i thought to have him on this is a great yeah let's have him on do you know Not personally, no Your go-to guy What happened to go-to guy?
Starting point is 02:01:29 I thought you guys were maybe doing dominoes together Or why don't you hang out with Stephen Johnson Why don't you hang around with more people? I would love to play NCAA with him Well, I love this story because Blake kind of brushed past There was a video where the kid who got punched Flok video?
Starting point is 02:01:46 No, the kid who got punched is talking with an adult male The Star Telegram can't confirm whether or not that adult male's his father or not. But they're discussing the situation. That video has now been deleted, but it was posted to the Instagram account, Yaso Christo Black Jesus. Oh.
Starting point is 02:02:06 Yeah. Which if you go to now, that's the guy's handle. It's just all the hard hitting news. It is full of like the most, like you walk up to a rap concert and there's like Nation of Islam guys or like one of the black Israelites. It's everything Kyrie got to spend in trouble about.
Starting point is 02:02:22 It's great. Look at this. This is the guy's page where TCU football player was like, one of these videos in here where there's a snake and the star David. It was just a guy like I got punched at practice. And the Star Telegram has to print the name of the Instagram page. In a now deleted video posted to Instagram user, Yaso Christo Black Jesus' page. And we got another court ruling on SB 12, Dan. I know that's a state bill that you were pretty fired up about.
Starting point is 02:02:54 This one addresses? No. Even better. Litter boxes. No. Something even more pressing to everyone's daily lives. Trans people playing sports. Drag shows and what you can dress up as or not dress up as.
Starting point is 02:03:12 As another judge. Also ridiculous, but there are probably more drag shows than there are trans people playing sports. There's a Reagan appointee who has handled this decision. twice now and his rule. I love when they mentioned that. Yeah, I mean. Now in the stories they have to put it to Reagan appointee, just so you don't be like,
Starting point is 02:03:32 what dirty liberal? Oh, wait, a Reagan appointee? Or are we mad at Reagan too now? Well, I mean, me. That does mean the guy's 82 years old. Yeah, okay. That's a better point. Yeah, Reagan.
Starting point is 02:03:42 He was an excellent lawyer. Like, he wasn't a kid. If you were a kid when Reagan was doing his thing, you're old. Right. At the end of the story, it's like, you know, the judge who handed down his ruling with a quill and like a scroll. No, but this is topical. The ruling described SB 12 as overly broad and its definition of performance and nudity,
Starting point is 02:04:03 stating that provocative cosplay at conventions, swimming athletes, or Dolly Parton impersonators could potentially be penalized under law. This is the best time for that market. This is the best time to say that this cannot be enacted. There was a local comedian Dean Lewis at Dolly Parton. They've decided to have an open casket after multiple attempts failed to close it. And then everyone yelled at him. I think it was like 25. That was his first thought when he heard the news.
Starting point is 02:04:35 Oh, that's awesome. And it went to the internet. And 70 people were like, you're a piece of shit. What? She would love that joke. That's what I was going to say. That's the problem with. She always made fun of herself.
Starting point is 02:04:45 Yeah. Just laughing for. like denying laughs for other people they would have been into. That's no fun. Especially, yes, girls with giant jugs will, that's, oh, that's myself deprecating. I'm just saying that she'll laugh at herself. Yes, of course she will. She's Dolly Parton, you know?
Starting point is 02:05:07 Yeah. But if you're kind of making a- She made lots of jokes about her boobs. Yeah. Like, that's on the record plenty of times. Yeah, how do they decide? Well, I guess I don't actually know. I've never been to a, I guess,
Starting point is 02:05:18 a drag show in Texas. How often would she get new boobs? Dolly? Yeah, don't you think they've been replaced a few times? I think it's supposed to be like 10 to 15 years. Yeah, you don't want them to start leaking and stuff. Every 10 years you get new ones? 10 to 15, yeah.
Starting point is 02:05:36 What was that? I'm just the guy thinking. He's been thinking a lot today. I'm thinking about a Google I'm going to make later. I'm just thinking. The replaced. ones, though, did they keep, where are they? You can buy those discounts.
Starting point is 02:05:52 Dumpster, there's no way. Yeah, those have got to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Yeah, they're in a Smithsonian. Oh, for Dolly? Yeah. So you think some doctor just, like, stored them somewhere for longevity? I would hope so. To put in a new AI robot? That'd be super creepy if you didn't, and she didn't know it. What a fun,
Starting point is 02:06:10 like, I'm imagining the glass case, which just they just slowly get bigger. Implants. I'm sure they're in a dumpster, just like everyone else's Dan. No, no, no, there's no way. No, there's no way. And also, like, I was, you know, I'm not going to ask you this specifically. But when Tom Green got his testicle removed, he did a special about it.
Starting point is 02:06:33 Like, they filmed the whole thing. They gave him the testicle. I'm sure he asked for it. I think they like don't do that anymore. Really? Yeah. Why? I don't know.
Starting point is 02:06:42 I mean, why? Yeah. It's yours. Hey, preaching to the choir, Jake. My body, my choice. Not once they cut it off. I mean, it's theirs. Man, I don't know.
Starting point is 02:06:53 They can do whatever they want with it. It's not on your person anymore. That's disappointing to me. Extremely disappointing. Let's see here. There was a massive settlement handed down yesterday from MEDA. And there were... Facebook, right?
Starting point is 02:07:11 Yes, and Instagram. There are several states that were party to one lawsuit. Texas actually had its own. and we're all going to get our portion of $1 billion for META. They'll be seeing that in your account. Tuesday's the first, I think. We'll get our big dividend check there. For what?
Starting point is 02:07:30 So Texas got one? Because they had to pay out 17, right? Yes, but that was for like a ton of other states together. So every state gets like a billion? Not every. But the point is, no, it's a joke. They're not going to give this money back to people. It goes to mental health services for training.
Starting point is 02:07:47 for future. But the point is they're hitting them for... It'll go to the red tape that gets in between those. I'm sure. You know, just for hacking kids' brains
Starting point is 02:07:57 with their products, for using gambling and addiction-based tactics to get people addicted to stuff. Remember we did the story a few years ago of that girl in California who sued Meta
Starting point is 02:08:13 because it's too addicting. And that apparently caused the first domino and led to what it is today. But it's really like now they have to limit how often you're on the platform. They're limiting the addicting parts and they're taking away filters because a big part of the lawsuit was now you've made people feel bad about themselves. What do you mean by filter?
Starting point is 02:08:36 What is that? They used to Instagram, you have all these filters to make yourself look better. Yeah. And they're taking that away? Yes. Yeah. They're revoking a lot of features. Oh, no.
Starting point is 02:08:47 But that certainly exists somewhere else. They could just, so you could do it somewhere else. They'll go to Snapchat. Yeah, you can still do it. You're going to, there's a huge difference between natively in the app being able. What are you going to do? Go over to your Photoshop on your phone and no, no one's going to do that. I mean, the influencer will, but the average person who just fell at their pool.
Starting point is 02:09:08 Were you making this look hot on our Instagram post? I think Henry was, yeah. I feel like that was a shot. Well, you're a big Instagram person and I doubt you're going to edit your own photo. No, but I have messed around with chat GPT photo editing, and it's pretty good. It's pretty good. There's always like the uncanny valley of like, there's something off with it. Yeah, like it happened to me.
Starting point is 02:09:33 You know too much about this, Jimmy. He's been editing his own photos. I had such a fun time. We were trying to do making a, I don't know, I can't mind it. What if I had a beard? What would have? Yeah. No, it was somebody, there's this old saying that they used to make fun of arson investigators for saying like a guy would walk up with a cigarette in his mouth, flick it and be like, rats with matches.
Starting point is 02:09:58 And so we wanted to make a t-shirt that said rats with matches. And so we designed a logo, put in chat GPT. And then randomly we were like, hey, what if the rats are in bikinis and have big old chugs? Now, if you ask chat GPT to do that, it will deny your request. And so it became like an hour-long game of trying to word it correctly. We dealt with him on this yesterday. It's because both of you were too horny. You should not be asking the machine anything related.
Starting point is 02:10:27 The machine should do what we say. It's a machine. Thank you. I tricked it, though. We had to go like, I want to do human, human ladies and bikinis, classy. Nothing sexual about it. And then I was like, now make them look a little mousy. Oh.
Starting point is 02:10:43 And on their skin. That's the weirdest thing I've known. But it did it. It gave it to me. It wouldn't give you a mouse in a bikini. No, it would not. Interesting. Because it would not anthropomorphize pornography, which is, come on.
Starting point is 02:10:55 That feels like cake shaming? Yeah. It's the internet. Let me have my fun. Well, we did it with like, just to wrap that up, the thought, we did it with, um, so, you know, if you're a lady, you can wear these certain dresses that are kind of balloony and then maybe from the side, it just looks extra balloony. and so I had a balloon dress situation and then that's amazing.
Starting point is 02:11:19 Can we get a close up? Yeah, I'll get you in there. What is that? Is that the mouse? Those are the mice? Yeah, you can take it with busting mice. Yeah, busty mice. So I had a balloon dress situation and then one of our guests on the mom game.
Starting point is 02:11:32 Can you send me a picture? I had a balloon dress situation and you can put it into chat GPT and say, keep me in this same dress but make it look less balloony in like a normal dress because it was just a really bad angle. I didn't post it or use it, but I was just experimenting, and it did it. And it, you look like, I mean, but it's weird. And so I think all this is good because I don't think that should be allowed. Yeah, we couldn't, we couldn't get everybody together for the group photo on the beach trip.
Starting point is 02:11:57 And somebody was like, well, just chat GPT them into the photo. I'm like, what do, then what does it matter that you took it if you're just faking it? We did that for the first day of schools, the fifth grade boys that couldn't get in the fifth grade boy picture, got their little heads put in the photo. For dry boobs on them. Some guys in my fantasy league were like, are you going to come to our draft this year? Are you going to do it remotely? And I was going to do it.
Starting point is 02:12:19 But I could just have them chat GPT me into the photo, so it'll be like, yeah, you guys can remember I was at the draft. Yes. You should tell them to do that. Yeah, it's a great bit. So as part of this. Don't tell anybody. What is it?
Starting point is 02:12:31 It'll remove watermarks. Don't tell anybody. Oh. Interesting. As part of this new settlement with meta, you get a, every 15 minutes, teens get a, hey, you've been on. 15 minutes.
Starting point is 02:12:45 Well, I can tell you what, teens don't really react. They don't stop when you do it. Well, they'll stop when they have a two-hour daily time limit for users under 18. Wow. It'll just straight up, turn it off. So this is happening. It is happening. It is happening.
Starting point is 02:12:57 Good. Wow, I think that's great. It's always been like the consumer protection stuff in Europe always kicks ass. Yeah. We're always just like, just be a slave to corporations. I mean, I'm going to be honest with you. I don't obviously like Ken Paxton, like, you. she's on his wife, whatever.
Starting point is 02:13:11 I don't care about any of that at all, like at all. But the stories where sometimes you do see, like, they'll bust these companies up. Like, you forget what his job is. Because most of the time you see him, he's just like, Muslims? You're like, what does that have to do with? Like, I forgot the attorney general's job is actually, like, take care of people, the consumer. And he's gotten three or four massive settlements against these technology companies. Yeah, that's a big problem.
Starting point is 02:13:40 That's great. This section is paid for by Ken Paxton. Just watch you know. Blake? The dumb zone. The dumb, the dumb, the dumb, so dumb, don't. Now you're problems with him, not me. Like and subscribe.
Starting point is 02:14:02 Like and subscribe. That was a good news. Happy birthday. Thank you. Talking wallets. Not any wallet. Ridge wallet. The Ridge Wallets.
Starting point is 02:14:18 Ridgewallets.com is your place for shopping for your next wallet. They've got RFID blocking. They've got 50 plus colors and styles to choose from. This is a wallet that will last the test of time. Nice, unique, slim, modern design, 12 cards plus cash. I think you can hold it up and someone can shoot it, and the bullet will just bounce right off there. So go to Ridge Wallet.
Starting point is 02:14:39 or excuse me, Ridge.com, and use a promo code DumbZone at checkout. I don't know if it'll stop a bullet, but definitely an arrow. I have a... You tried that. First-hand experience that it will stop an arrow from going through your heart. They have... You think you're lying. They have a sweepstakes for you right now, so go enter that at ridge.com.
Starting point is 02:14:58 Use promo code Dumbzone. All right. All right. I got me an orange one for the Browns. For Deshawn Watson, I got excited. I think this is the year. I mean, we didn't talk about that today, but there is a lot of stuff of, you've got to ask yourself how much do the guys in an NFL locker room care about what he did?
Starting point is 02:15:20 And the answer appears to be not very much. I think it's more of by March 13th, do they want to pay him $200 million? Yeah. And the answer is most likely no. Well, so what are you saying? Then they'll be cutting him then. Oh, yeah. Okay, yeah.
Starting point is 02:15:35 On March 12th. Why are we even starting him now? Maybe if he kicks ass, you know. obviously a chance. I feel like that's the funniest Brown story. Without a doubt. I want him to play really well. Lights out.
Starting point is 02:15:49 And all of a sudden they're like, you know what? We have to extend him. Every time he goes to the end zone, he just lays down in happy baby pose. Yeah. He's like, look at it. Oh, no.
Starting point is 02:15:58 That's what he was doing. Good odds for a comeback player of the year, maybe. Would they ever? That would be very, the comeback. No. Think of the value. If he throws for 4,500 yards, what are you going to do that?
Starting point is 02:16:10 The emotional package, They try to put together on what he came back from. Yeah. From his emotional package, you know right? Hey, Saturday at 5. That's right. Dumbs on Comedy Night. George Brown, Scott Crisp, the great Kenny Lee.
Starting point is 02:16:24 Kenny Lee, fresh off of JFL, new faces. That's a big deal. Dear Dumbzone boys, I want to reach out so we can all wish the great Sarah Hepila. A happy birthday. Her Ray Lewis birthday was yesterday. All right. Her crushes, not leaders, include John Taylor, Rob Lowe, and Johnny Depp. That's from Will from East Dallas.
Starting point is 02:16:50 Oh. Hey, Amy. They went on a date together. How'd it go? She went on a date with Sarah Hepelah? No. I wish. Happy Business Wednesday podcast leaders.
Starting point is 02:17:06 My wife, birthday son on Monday. everyone is happy and healthy, but sadly I had to turn in my girl dad's status. And I've had the opportunity to catch up on some reading. I'm working my way through Mike Shropshire's Seasons in Hell about the mid-70s Texas Rangers. And lo and behold, a reference to a dumb zone landmark. I think I have a picture in there for you. He sent us a picture if you wanted to look at it on our YouTube show. But it is something that does highlight.
Starting point is 02:17:37 it says here the Jacksonborough Highway, also known as the old jism trail. Couldn't believe it. That's not Chisholm. No, they wrote it out with a J and Z Z-Z-Z-U-M. And it's specifically talking about that part of town. And I lived there forever,
Starting point is 02:17:57 and it took me meeting Dan to think of it as a dirty place. No word yet if there's a 9-11 memorial at that spot, but I'll check next time I'm in town. This is yours and dumb Tim DF number 1074. Great book, Seasons in Hell. You're a baseball guy. You ever read that?
Starting point is 02:18:23 I bet you they have it here for roughly half off. You got to find it. It's great. Wonderful book. I want to send a happy birthday to my personal leader and husband, Michael Tan. My leaders are Mazi Smith, being last off the snap, Nico Harrison's trade deals, and the icon of dance, Ray Gunn. Michael has a special place in his heart for all the people who have summited Mount Everest, despite being gay, I mean blind.
Starting point is 02:18:58 RIP, D-D-D-Mega-Dou, and Genelope. Love You, Bitch, from Stephanie. picture of Stephanie. Can you zoom in? Oh, guys. I can't believe that. Get a room. There you go.
Starting point is 02:19:15 I'll look at Stephanie. Blake's family is here. Go zoom in. They left. Dear Uncle Piglet Polisher. Yeah. I want to send my son Hayes a happy birthday shout out.
Starting point is 02:19:28 It's a cool name. It's his Dale Earnhardt birthday. Nice. Three's up. His leaders are second round Blake, Jake's Immortal Dog. God bless, man. And walking indoors,
Starting point is 02:19:42 I'd like to hear some angry Dan drops from Brandon. When's the party? Big debate yesterday. Not really a debate, but I took both animals to the vet, different vets. And my wife is like, why are you taking the dog to get shots? Oh, just let's... I don't know if I believe in vaccines anymore. Yeah, now she's like, I got to do my own research on this whole...
Starting point is 02:20:06 It's like how long is it going to take heartworm to take her down? Yeah. It's like, I think we're within that frame. I've been trying to figure out a bit on that because it is so funny how when you meet a woman and you're dating and you get together and you get a dog and they love the dog and here's a dog on Instagram and oh, it's such a family. And boy, the second that thing drops out of their body, the dog becomes a nuisance that could be disposed of at any day. It's not as fun And oh look at our little puppy This is your fucking dog now
Starting point is 02:20:40 Get it out of here It's either pre-if it's pre-baby dog Then it goes that way Also if it's post baby like post enough To where your kids like 8 to 10 Like kind of just annoying Then you get a dog That's good timing because then it's
Starting point is 02:20:54 Clayton's raising it Yeah you're like oh now I'm very interested in the dog You take care of the kids I like that Yeah And our last one is dear uncle Minge Muncher and master of the penis fly trap. You think it was going to get better?
Starting point is 02:21:08 I don't know. They're just getting so much worse by the day. The piglet polisher was. What's up, you crazy MFers? I want to wish my husband Ryan Tapley a happy birthday. He's a man. He's 40. Good dude.
Starting point is 02:21:23 I woken him up in that special way because I'm not a bee. That's where you draw the line. Hey, the kids book area is right here. Blake, come on, man. Those cops liked your email names. I'm not going to be able to read a lot of this, uh, Ryan Tapley's wife.
Starting point is 02:21:44 Um, just because of our locations with ladies with ladies. I'm glad he actually omitted something for one. She said he can't read it. She's very sweet. I went to their kids' birthday party and they got Brooks a gift. Wow. Is there a picture of her in the email? Jimmy's getting warmed up.
Starting point is 02:22:02 Uh, she says I welcome, uh, We're the jerks that got Brooke Jones a gift when he came to our kids' birthday party. I'd do it again. Oh. He loved it. Very cool. Yeah, look at this. There's no way.
Starting point is 02:22:17 Could you read that? Let me take a look. Either one of you guys read that for his leader. No. I'm proud of y'all right now. Read the part about the proud member of the beehive. Yeah. In fact, I'm a very.
Starting point is 02:22:32 That's from Mikey. Her name's Mikey? Yeah. I'm a dirty fella. and I'm not sure I've ever seen those two words next to each other before. God, I'm so curious. Yeah. That's for a, you know what?
Starting point is 02:22:42 We'll save this for a subscriber-only show tomorrow as well. I will reread this. So for those who... We're in the comfort of the din. Who want a subscriber-only, dirtiest birthday we've ever had from Mikey. We'll get that tomorrow. All right, right now... Where's Mr. Hamlet?
Starting point is 02:23:02 We go to this. See a story out. Direct's DFLU presents on this day in history. Oh, we want to bring MF in here? Get him in here so he'll be ready for some closing remarks. You don't have to leave. Are you leaving? Are you out?
Starting point is 02:23:20 There's another mic right there. There's another mic. Somebody could have the mic. We'll be done it 15, 20 minutes. Yeah. Anyway, can me, Flooring Direct DFW? Yeah, that's who we want to mention here. You know Dan's getting new floors?
Starting point is 02:23:34 I've heard about this. Yeah, we talked floors one day on the phone. That's right. Julie got new floors in the past, and one of the bad things about her bit, she was telling me, she had to pay movers to take her stuff out and then pay the movers to put the stuff back in
Starting point is 02:23:51 and everything with flooring direct dfW.com slash dZ. They'll do that stuff for you, man. I even talked to Dan, my flooring direct man, the other day. And he was like, you won't believe the amount of stuff that these guys can kind of work around. You know, you want to clean up a little bit, but he's like, they've got it, man. They will replace your floors.
Starting point is 02:24:15 They will do the moving, everything. They have a local phone number. Excuse me? My mom's really excited. Oh, yeah. Where did you say as that is? Cedar Creek Lake. And don't hit that up.
Starting point is 02:24:27 His mom has a lake house out there. Yeah, most of the people we work with parents seem to be doing. She's got a ranch This guy's got a lakehouse Dan said like that Cedar Creek is kind of like the new Possum Kingdom He's like
Starting point is 02:24:41 People are going there now Because the other one's on fire? Like that's a kick-ass Location Anyway he said yeah They'll even He just meant They'll do there
Starting point is 02:24:50 There's already a new hot spot in town And you know the best thing about it If you have a lake house in Cedar Creek And you want to get new floors And you're like God, I don't want to drive to Dallas to go to the showroom and all that. Guess what? Direct.
Starting point is 02:25:06 Clayton's mom will just stay there in her lakehouse, and they will bring the floors direct to her. That's why it's called Flooring Direct. Yeah, she and I won't even leave the house. 972-449-9456, FlooringDirect, DFW.com slash DZ. We re-welcome to the program, MF, MF Hamlin. All right. We've been signing books. who has been selling books.
Starting point is 02:25:33 First he wrote the book. And then you sell the book, then you sign the book. This is a weird angle at which I'm sitting. I'm seeing the testicles falling out of his shorts. Don't tell Dan. He's excited about it for later. Indeed. Get those things breathing.
Starting point is 02:25:50 Oh, where are we? We're doing today in history. Thursday, August 27th. That is our day. On this day in 1889, boxer Jack Dempsey, defeated for the first time ever. George LeBranch knocked him out in the
Starting point is 02:26:08 32nd round 1989 18 did I say 19 19? I might have misheard you okay 1889 okay it was a bare-knuckled bout he used the pivot punch see
Starting point is 02:26:23 it says here the punch would later be banned from boxing so I believe it's the one where you go you wind your arm I think it might kind of be. Is it like a swing around type thing? I don't know. It's the cartoon always has a...
Starting point is 02:26:40 Oh, it's this? Oh, it's backhanded. Yeah, you turn and you hit him with the side. Oh, I got it's swinging back, what do I call those UFC things? Swinging back fist. Spinning. Yeah, spinning back fist. Swinging close enough.
Starting point is 02:26:51 Is that legal? Yeah, oh yeah. In UFC. We've come a long way. Yeah. But not in boxing in 1880. Or it was in 1890. Yeah, 195, the Guinness Book of World Records first published, would bring me great joy throughout my early childhood.
Starting point is 02:27:07 Oh, yeah. Kids are still talking about that. Oh, really? Trying to set records and stuff. They still make them? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. It's very much alive.
Starting point is 02:27:14 Yeah, it feels obviously devalued now. Like, I get a lot of PR emails that are like, come see someone set the world record, Guinness World Record for most handicapped people doing yoga at once. I don't know. That's exciting. but doesn't feel like a world record. Right. It is PR-fied,
Starting point is 02:27:34 but the kids are trying to still break records, at least. I think that's cool. 1984, we had a classic yay-boo situation. You know the yay-boos? Sure. So President Reagan announces that a schoolteacher would be the first citizen astronaut to fly aboard a space shuttle.
Starting point is 02:27:50 Oh, good. Yay. Rest in peace, McAuliffe? Whoa. Hold on. Oh, yeah. I'm still very engaged in the outcome of this story. We need another seven astronauts.
Starting point is 02:28:01 It's a yay boo. Yes. Yay, we're announcing the first citizen. The eventual choice is Kristen McCalloff. She would die in the Challenger disaster in January, 1986. That's the boo. That's a big boo. That is a boo, yes.
Starting point is 02:28:13 Did you guys read your kids the fortunately, unfortunately book as children? Go on. Same. It's the same deal. It's a yay boo. Oh, okay. It's like a guy fell out of a plane. You know, fortunately had a parachute.
Starting point is 02:28:25 Unfortunately. I remember seeing this in our house. Yeah. Oh, that's a good bit. Yeah, yeah. It's life. Yeah. Kids, they love parachute-related dance.
Starting point is 02:28:36 He just tuckers out. He's falling asleep in my arms. And in 2006, there was a jet that crashed after trying to take off from the wrong runway in Lexington, Kentucky. So there was 50 people on board. 49 died. The sole survivor was. the pilot. All right, bud.
Starting point is 02:29:03 Whoa. Do you feel like that's the fantasy commissioner winning the league? It's not fair. It's a little too inside, yeah. So August 27th, Blake, this day in Dumb Zone history. Let's go back to 2021 when Cam Newton was a New England Patriot and once Scott Zolak was not happy about it. God, that was fun. I don't think enough could be said about the culture shock they went through from Brady to
Starting point is 02:29:30 Cam Newton, but it's like still the same broadcasters. They'd just be like, they're like, what the? What is he doing? Right. Why? Well, he also does a radio show, and when we were out in California, we noticed they'll play music at practice. Scott Zolak thought it distracted Cam Newton.
Starting point is 02:29:47 I turn off the rap music, first of all, because I think it's distracting for Cam here. Because in between every throw, he's dancing. I did see Karen Geregian of the Herald tweeting about that as he took the field. He's doing it in between drills, you're saying. Yeah. Yeah, he makes a throw And the music's still cranking here I know you could hear faintly in the background here
Starting point is 02:30:05 I think it's distracting him for you No It's when they play Bon Jovi That's the only thing No kidding Anyway But yeah That guy's great
Starting point is 02:30:14 Does it full-on meathead In 2024 We had a run of broadcasting It really nice houses Until this day When we did a show at Cass's apartment Excellent Excellent
Starting point is 02:30:27 Oh That was so good. So we were at people like... The guy with the sign. We were at people like M.F. Hamlin's house for like all summer. We were like, what are the fuck? How are we at all these people's houses?
Starting point is 02:30:38 One guy was like, I bet. And he had us come to his one bed apartment. It was like not, there's nothing in it. I did lug all the gear upstairs. It seems more appropriate, though. There was a sign on the door that said, uh, thinking about Uber Eats, look in the fridge. Yeah, it was written to her. His wife, damn.
Starting point is 02:30:56 His wife would make him handwritten. It said like, and then number of it. two, have a glass of water. See if you're still hungry. So condescending. God. And then 2025, couple things. One, a bad bit.
Starting point is 02:31:08 A lady missed her high school prom. And like for her 80th birthday, she threw herself a prom. God, so Julie-coated. I think that's what we said. You know I was that right from? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:31:20 But if the internet love that, right? Something happened, though. Was it tropical theme? Tropical problem. So that's why I can get in. We're running out of time. And then. We're grackles eating.
Starting point is 02:31:30 Yeah. Sounds like my hell. Participate in your bit. I don't remember. Darn birds. There was a, this time last year, there was a shooting in Minnesota. Right? I don't know.
Starting point is 02:31:42 I don't remember. Anyway, the shooter put out a manifesto, and here's today's culture. The top comment on the video, first that there are comments about it. But the first comment was, too long, I ain't reading that. That's what they said about mind comp. Kids these days, you know. You've got to break it down to them. That's why I'm investing in a new short-form platform called Quibi.
Starting point is 02:32:09 Ooh, Blake. You're good things. Other birthdays today we have Buddy Bell 75. Who's that, Blake? I think it's my mom's favorite Texas Ranger. Wow. Buddy Bell. Former Indian as well.
Starting point is 02:32:22 I've heard of that one. We have Mike Maddox is 65. Oh, sorry Mike. Hot daughter. Recently been fired, right? Didn't he get fired from the Angels? The Angels. If you remember back in spring training, he got in trouble
Starting point is 02:32:36 because he wouldn't allow radar guns at spring training. He didn't want them fascinated by how hard they were throwing. God, that's such a high school coach move. Take the names off the jerseys. Darren McFadden is 39. Once featured at the Perot Museum But it worked Kind of, it's 1,000 yards
Starting point is 02:32:57 Former Ranger Mike Oldt is 38 He was traded for Mike Garza I'm positive I had Mike Old in the Hall of Fame You did Like good God He's his profile of his power Mac Brown 75
Starting point is 02:33:13 Well Jim Tomey is 56 I'm gonna do the new vent stock this weekend I love Jim Tomey me. Clayton, Dan. What's it on? It's untold, which is Netflix. You know, they just do like one hour of...
Starting point is 02:33:27 Okay. Great. Worthy? Okay, yeah. I haven't seen it yet. Does Tommy have a statue in Cleveland? I'm going to have to play the audio because there's a piece where Jeff Fisher said that...
Starting point is 02:33:39 Vince Young once wrote him an apology letter, but he never got back to him because Vince had misspelled Jeff Fisher's name. And I have just so many questions about where and how. That seems like misspelling Blake Jones. It's got the backwards ease. Yeah. Yes, there is a statue that's controversial to me that the Indians would put up a statue of Jim Tomey.
Starting point is 02:34:05 He left. Left as a free agent. He's hit the bulk of his home run somewhere else. That's why I won't let him put the damn McDowell statue up. Thank you. It's true. The guy's great, but he did most of his work elsewhere. Thank you for fighting for that.
Starting point is 02:34:25 Adam Oates is 64. He's a hockey man. There were more than one of them. A lot of O names. He would play alongside Brett Hull in... I'm not kidding. Don't you know this for real? I mean, they were line mates in St. Louis.
Starting point is 02:34:41 That's excellent. Do you know that? No. Oh, I thought you were into hockey. Well, yeah. I don't know everything about Brett Holes, all of his line mates. Hull and Oates. That's why you would know.
Starting point is 02:34:51 You don't have to know all of Brett Hall's mindings. Just the ones that are called Hall and Oates. Okay. All right. What year was that? I don't know. Ask Kelly. See if he knows.
Starting point is 02:35:04 Mr. Information. I was little. Brett. That's just a bad argument, I believe. You know, there are things with words in them that you could read to learn about things. Too busy at tropical days. Some places you pay full price. Some places.
Starting point is 02:35:22 Not here. The worst places. Brett Bochie is 39. Boy, that's got to be. He's in the game, right? Who is he drafted by, I wonder. Oh, no. Oh, he was drafted by the Giants.
Starting point is 02:35:34 Okay. He's 39 now. I wonder where he worked. Oh, he's a current ranger scout. Nice. Shut up. It's good for him to land on his seat. So for the rest of life, he can have a job in baseball because his last name is Boch.
Starting point is 02:35:47 Okay, and I'm drawing the line. We're doing the NEPO. baby thing because like the guy who like wrote the book on innovation's daughter has a band that doesn't count if you're the manager of the giants and they draft you to the giants that's a nepo baby right i think they just thought this is the best player we could have in the 50 second round there would only be a nepo baby if m f hamelin's son wrote another book about a fictional video game company he already is a nepo baby if he's just successful that's not He's going to write skinny dipping at high tide.
Starting point is 02:36:21 Yeah, he is. Yeah, he's fully dressed. Brianna Stewart is 32. Baller. Is she good? That's what they say. She's checking his canter, right? I've been watching more.
Starting point is 02:36:38 You guys may have seen a subscription come through on the credit card. I did, yeah. What's that? I got WNBA League Pass. I needed to pull some audio, and it's way cheaper than you think it is, buddy. You're right. He is the spender. Can I play you the audio?
Starting point is 02:36:55 This is from last night, Seattle Storm, which is where their owner got in trouble for going down and yelling at people for yelling pro-Sophie Cunningham stuff. So this is just, you know, you let me know. But they have a bright future ahead of them as Connecticut and Washington have the two top youngest teams in the W.
Starting point is 02:37:16 And how about those young hoes from Washington as they like to be called? Whoa. I mean, I will call you whatever you like, but didn't know you could just... Okay. Wow. Young hose from Washington, as they like to be called. Yes, that is what they like to be called.
Starting point is 02:37:35 Thank you to Lauren Betts on that one. I'm not making it up. I like it. I think it's Asian. It's been fun watching. Big fans of the Falcons. I just wonder how far you can take that. Like if the defense in Dallas starts calling themselves Y-Ns.
Starting point is 02:37:53 Hey, I like to be called that. Yeah, hey, here they come out on the field. I mean, they like to be called it. So, listen, they told me that. Yeah. Shut down Tom Brady in the booth. Right. I'm not, I don't.
Starting point is 02:38:04 I'm not reading it. It's spelled out. Why would you spell it out on the teleprompter? Man, yeah. That was WNBA? Yeah. Yeah. That's on USA.
Starting point is 02:38:18 That's not a college or high school broadcast. That is national broadcast. Have you guys, this was an observation. It's probably not original. But why did WNBA teams not have female animal names? Like bulls, broncos, rams. Why do we not have, you know? That's a good one.
Starting point is 02:38:40 The cows in the sheep. The heifers. We had that because they did that out where the U. The U.S., which is a female ram. That's a great idea. I don't know. Why would they not embrace that? Is there widespread knowledge of the female animal name?
Starting point is 02:38:56 Cow? But if there's not, they could raise that awareness. They're putting on females. Someone needs to fight for female animals to be more recognizable. They call that. Birmingham, maybe. Yeah. That one I know.
Starting point is 02:39:08 But they have to be singular. Burmian. Because it's like... Literation, yes. I'm following you know. All the NBA teams are singular. I'm older, slow. So yeah, the young hoes from Washington.
Starting point is 02:39:20 So they like to be cold. Jeez. Was that not worth the subscription? It was $4 for the whole season. Yeah, you're right. There's just like three seasons in the year, though. Peter Stormar is 73 from Fargo, the movie. Tony Canal is 56 from No Doubt.
Starting point is 02:39:41 Oh, drummer, probably. I think he used to be... Was he the one Dayton, Gwen Stefani for a while? Yeah, when they first came out, I think. Alex. Alex Lifeson is 73. Ooh, greatness. Who's that?
Starting point is 02:39:57 Guitar player for Rush. Ooh. Let me tell you. It's another old guy thing. It's not just an old guy thing. I did read your book. You worked at Guitar Center. Every guy who worked a guitar center thinks Rush is,
Starting point is 02:40:10 that's a different level of fan. Yes, it is. I feel like they're the official band of Guitar Center. They're the official band of Lonely Guys. Yeah. who can be found often Saturday afternoons. They've doubled the number of females at Rush Concert now that they have a female drummer.
Starting point is 02:40:29 Actor Carl Marino is 56. The great. Dan. Is that not the guy? I'm thinking of Ken. Ken Marino's great. I recently have been going through all of his stuff. Party down.
Starting point is 02:40:40 You know why I like Carl Marino. I do. Or my wife does. Got a cameo. He plays young Joe Kenda. In the reenactment show or something? He's the reenactment guy, and my wife loves that show, so I got a cameo. Like, she's like, oh my God, this is great.
Starting point is 02:40:58 And I'm like, it was a $20 birthday gift. It's great. This is awesome. How's Camio doing? I think they're popping, man. Brad Sham is on there doing drafts now. Emily does it? She's sending out videos to people and getting paid left and right.
Starting point is 02:41:12 The state is the Ken Marino sketch show that I've recently been. Yeah, season one and two strong. I don't know if I haven't got the two yet. So Emily's on only fans? Camio. Young hose. She's on cameo. Not only fans.
Starting point is 02:41:29 Sorry, Dan. Barbara Bach. Would Emily clean up on only fans? Absolutely, right? What about Barbara? 40 years ago, she would have. Barbara Bach is 79. She was a bond girl and then married to Ringo stars.
Starting point is 02:41:49 She still married to Ringo. Ringo Star? She's got to be pretty hot. There's no way Ringo Starr is married to some old 79-year-old hags. I wouldn't think so at this point. I think he's got like a 24-year-old. Lovingly betrothed to Ringo Starr. Oh, yeah?
Starting point is 02:42:04 I get that. True love. It doesn't matter your age. They both practice. What was the caveman movie they did together? There was one. I think it. I was not aware of this,
Starting point is 02:42:13 but it appears to be just called caveman. Yeah. And that's where they met. With those two? Those two. The star is in a movie called Caveman? They met in 1981 to do the movie, checked into rehab together shortly after, and lived on. That's romantic.
Starting point is 02:42:29 That is true love. Eating nothing but vegetables together. And they had like troglodyte language in the movie. Like ZugZug was the nasty. Ringo star Dennis Quaid, Shelley Long, and Barbara Bach. This looks a, I got to try it. Yeah. I think you'd love it.
Starting point is 02:42:48 Wow. Where was I? Downtown Julie Brown, 63. An MTV Vijay. Robert Remus is 77. Do you know who that is? Uncle Remus? Pro wrestler Sergeant Slaughter.
Starting point is 02:43:10 I'm familiar with who he is. Cesar Milan. Oh, yeah. Is 56? Dog Whisper? Great South Park episode. Very. That's the dog whisper.
Starting point is 02:43:23 Yeah. Boy, how many people were trying that? Dude. Gosh, I guess I just kind of hiss at it. Well, I think it probably has like a much deeper psychological approach where you're, I don't know, breaking the dog down and building it up. But I was just kind of, would it work? No. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 02:43:44 But I would do it to like my brother. Oh. But yeah, there were a couple months run where people were trying to be dog trainers. Oh. I know one guy who did it, and I'll shout him out every time because he's a huge listener of the show, and he was on Julie's show. And he was, uh, Lucas, he trained Lucas dogs, a buddy I played in bands with. He made it as dog trainer to the stars. I hadn't thought about Luca all day until now.
Starting point is 02:44:09 Sorry. Oh. Sorry. My bad. Would I trade places with one of Luca's dogs right now? Oh, that's good. But you're a dog? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:44:21 Yeah, I'm a dog. Your parents are going through it. I'm a dog, but I'm with Luca. You know Luke is leaning on those dogs right now. Yeah. They're as close as they've ever been. And he's like, you know what I'll do? I'm going to leave the TV on so you could watch game when I'm gone.
Starting point is 02:44:36 That's what he says, and he leaves. And he's got a huge TV. Leaves for weeks. He's got a 95-inch TV. Got a little dog hookah set up. Then he leaves like the, yeah, remote laying there, and you can just kind of mess with it. Is that your dream? It is starting now.
Starting point is 02:44:57 Jake, our Dumb Zone, birthday of the day runner up is Eller Coltrane. He's 32. He's the kid in boyhood. Oh, wow. Does he done anything else? Is that a nepo grand kid? I think he didn't, like, act.
Starting point is 02:45:14 He, like, didn't want to be an actor. I think he left, and he's now a poet. Nice. The Ethan Hawk movie. Does he know it? It's, like, the kid actually growing up. Richard Lange. Link Laddered, probably better than you say there.
Starting point is 02:45:24 He started when he was, I think, age six. I thought he was like a baby, but that's right. Is he related to John Colterine? No. Saxbler, no. Yeah, I think he's just an Austin kid. Yep. But Richard Linklater, yeah.
Starting point is 02:45:40 So he started filming him every summer. I think they did a total of 45 days of filming. Do you not know about this? Then he started, they would film every summer for 13 years and then he released a movie called Boyhood and it was about this kid growing up
Starting point is 02:45:58 and it was actually instead of... I didn't really it was it was culturing but... Yeah, yeah, and then the kid I don't know. I thought it was a great movie and it took me years to make Jake watch it and he just didn't do it
Starting point is 02:46:09 because I wanted him to and that's usually how this goes. It was a whole thing. But also because he might shed a tear knowing that I'm watching my life. Because that's what I did. For sure.
Starting point is 02:46:23 You know, dad coming, dad shows up in, uh... Hey, look, I got a Nerf football. You want to know the most thing that hit home for me on that? So Dad shows up. Uh, he's always got like a cool car. But then Dad gets an extra wife, new wife, and they're going to have a new kid, and now Dad drives up in a minivan. Yep.
Starting point is 02:46:45 And it's like, oh, no, Dad, you now suck. Never would have got a minivan for us. Yeah. But our Dumbzone birthday today is Aaron Paul is 47. Do you want Henry's birthday? In front of God and Country here, can we run that play? Let's try it. He's already brought it up.
Starting point is 02:47:03 Yeah, I know. Now he's brought it up after I've given Dumbzone birthday today. It's really weird to be anticlimactic. But that is Henry's middle name, anticlimactic. So yes, joining us now, folks. Grab the mic from Jimmy. Joining us right now is intern Henry, everybody. who's representing Game Day Men's Health, he put out the signs.
Starting point is 02:47:23 You don't have to go far. I fixed your sign. It had fallen. You're not all right to move. Just grab the mic. There's not enough slack. I fixed your sign out front, Henry. Okay.
Starting point is 02:47:33 This is for you, Dan. This is the subject of your recent sauna story. The rapper you were listening to that was blaring on the beats pill, that is Rod Wave. He's 28. Rod Wave. Okay. Very nice. And how old was this?
Starting point is 02:47:48 the gentleman in the sauna. He was older than 28, right? Or was he a younger guy? He was younger than me, but he might have been like 35 or 40. Okay. Yeah, but he was, yeah, he was a younger guy. Younger, he wasn't. Dan caught a guy in the sauna at a... I didn't catch a guy. But he just went to him. He walked in. With your net. Beats pill playing music. He's got a huge. He's got the beats pill in the sauna.
Starting point is 02:48:15 And I had my headphones on listening to something. And Rod Wave, say words that Brad Shan won't. Oh my God, it was very... Was he skinny dipping? It was the dirtiest. Or did he have a towel on? You had naked and a sauna guy, Dan?
Starting point is 02:48:29 No, no, no. This is a... Commercial gym. It's a 24-hour fitness sauna. This is no Julie. There's dudes. That doesn't... Ladies.
Starting point is 02:48:37 Maybe I've been treating L.A. Fitness wrong this whole time. No, so the thing I did, and I only did it because I was brave because there was another older white guy in there with me. This is a younger black dude. So he's probably about 30. I don't know. I tried to get his beat, like his beats to play my podcast that I was listening to for his beat. But it didn't.
Starting point is 02:49:03 It didn't work. Intercept the Bluetooth. Yeah. Born on This Day Now Dead, Lyndon Baines Johnson. Jumbo. Not a lot of Linden's. Don't hear that a lot. Great name, though.
Starting point is 02:49:18 Yeah. It is good. You would think Texas, you know, he's LBJ and everything. But do people hate him? No, I mean. I mean, he killed Kennedy, but other than that. Right. Depends on where you're on that whole deal.
Starting point is 02:49:32 Vietnam wasn't that bad. Daryl Dragon, born on this day. From the Captain Antoneal. Not the Captain and Camille? Camille. Is that the captain, this guy, Darry? That's Darryl Dragon, yeah. What a name.
Starting point is 02:49:48 That's an awesome name. Yeah. Ed Gein. Rest in peace. The serial killer who inspired Silence of the Lambs. Andre Emmett, Jake. He's dead. Did you know that?
Starting point is 02:50:03 Texas Tech. Yeah. It was like their star player when we were doing the Bob Night Show. Really? Yeah. Well, rest in power. And born on this day now dead. Paul Rubens.
Starting point is 02:50:24 Pee-wee Herman. Inventor of the sandwich. Ernest or Pee-wee? Yes. Pardon? Ernest or Pee-wee? Ernest or Pee-wee? Oh, wait, wait.
Starting point is 02:50:37 Who's funnier? Ernest or Pee-wee? At the time of viewing them, I will go earnest. Yes. Retroactively, we will go pee-wee. It's fine. it's fine whatever sort of woke 1.0
Starting point is 02:50:57 answer that was I think only one publicly has been on the jism trail they call that a callback in the bed excellent work dead in the stay still dead in honor of Soroy
Starting point is 02:51:13 Robert Shaw he was Quint in Jaws oh good character doesn't Soroy do that speech dude it's one of the coolest things And I'm sure there are a bunch of guys that can do it, but for some reason, him being able to just all of a sudden you're talking, it was a cold night.
Starting point is 02:51:29 He just flips. He can do the full five minutes. True story, they had to film that across either two or three days. Because that guy, who's like 39 when they filmed that scene. Really? Yes. He definitely looks 60. He died like 10 or 11 years later.
Starting point is 02:51:45 Hardcore, hardcore alcoholic. Oh, yeah. He died at the age of 51. Yeah. And they had to film that a few times because that's, scene in particular, he just kept getting blackout. And they're like, all right, well, we'll come back tomorrow. Nice.
Starting point is 02:52:00 As long as you get it done. Got it done. It's phenomenal. I also died on this day in 2019, someone named Jesse Combs, a lady. She set a world record as the fastest woman on four wheels, reaching a speed of 440 miles an hour. Jeez. What does that mean? like in a car
Starting point is 02:52:23 then she was four wheels I got the car on my own but my first reaction was wheelchair I was like yeah are we counting the foot ones
Starting point is 02:52:35 that steer is that gnaws on it and then she was attempting to set a new land speed record and died in the crash doing that likely what she loved
Starting point is 02:52:48 dying died doing what she loved so it's one of those rocket cars in the salt flats it's one of those things that's what it looks like yeah you got to be on like sand 400 yeah and then died on this day in 2025 it's Steve hayden he's the ad executive that created apple's 1984 ad have you ever seen that it's legendary yes yeah and that's what happened on this day in history it's true And now we close the show with the great MF Hamlin, author, former GameStop employee. Rush fan.
Starting point is 02:53:34 Rush fan. There you go. That's good. Currently perhaps working on another book. Are you working on that other book? Yeah. It's starting to come together. Is it called racism in America?
Starting point is 02:53:47 No. Because Blake was working, he told me during the break. like I was actually writing a book with a similar title. He said it's called racism in America. Is it really that bad? Was it really that bad? Yeah. Our buddy here, Courtney, gave me what I think might is a working title, at least,
Starting point is 02:54:05 which is naked from the waist down, which is how my dad used to sleep. The old Winnie the Pooh. Yes, poo bearing. Pooh bearing is what we call it. And dad used to walk around with his t-shirt, put it around. It's like, why do you not just put on the pants? It's traumatizing. It's a little peak.
Starting point is 02:54:23 Yeah. It's a little peak. He was a character. My dad had tidy whiteies that he would tuck an undershirt into, like the big V ones. Oh, that's a good look. That's a really good look. We used to laugh. Superhero.
Starting point is 02:54:33 When you have like a friend over and he had shorts on, we'd be like, I think he likes you. Because he didn't give a shit. Good stop. Captain Hunterpants, yeah. Boy, you got to kind of watch yourself when you're walking around your house just to make sure, you know, if your kid has a podcast in 20 years. Man, I don't. they will. Statistically.
Starting point is 02:54:52 Everybody, yes. Cavalier about that. I don't know. I was at a rec center place last night. A guy was holding the door open while his kid was in there going number one. It's like, all right, well, you know, everyone could just kind of see you in there, right? I don't even let my, I don't like my kids walking around my house with no clothes. Like, it's not good.
Starting point is 02:55:09 No, yeah. It's not working. They want to do it. I feel like in the past, kids used to run around outside naked more, though. Definitely. Yeah. Definitely. My kids are completely...
Starting point is 02:55:21 Never nudes? Never nudes. Yeah, yeah. This came up on... Middle school for us was so tremendous. Actually, there's a thing in the book about it. Yep. But, you know, we used to have the...
Starting point is 02:55:33 Yeah, it was a, you know, a pole shower with six heads and you're all gathered around, you know, like lemurs playing grab ass. I loved it. Soap up the floor from one end to the other. Yeah. Just go sliding down there. Good clean fun. Good times.
Starting point is 02:55:49 And our kids will go to a place with an open shower and they're like, I'm snuck in a shower. Yeah. Yeah. NFL players are talking about this now. Are they all get naked together? No, the vets are like the game has changed. These kids don't want to shower at work anymore.
Starting point is 02:56:06 I'm serious. Pull it out. You some kind of loser? I can see that. Yeah. And like I remember when I went from football to basketball, there were two or three of us. And like the season ended, we go over to basketball.
Starting point is 02:56:15 We're in there and we're like, y'all don't shower naked? They had their shorts on, they would lean their heads into the water. We were like, we're like basically having sex over there in the football field outs. We're wrestling naked. Yeah. Was your dorm, obviously? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:56:30 I think kids dorms now have the individual. Yeah. Different world. Different world. But the good news is that you don't. Probably a better world, right? It's better because it's still, it's shocking now when you see an old guy at the gym just hanging out. It's, yeah.
Starting point is 02:56:45 It's still. And that used to be very common. You don't know. He's got a title for the book. As a little kid. No, I don't think that will be the title. But somehow I've found the guy that owns the house now and he's redoing it. He's invited me to go to Danville, Virginia, and stay in one of the old slave cabins as I start to do research.
Starting point is 02:57:08 Oh, wow. Yeah. That'd be wild, man. What a good concept for a B&B. Yeah. Tiny house. Yeah. It's $100 a year.
Starting point is 02:57:19 It's real good. You have to do yard work tomorrow. Yeah. It's part of the deal. Are you going to make sure it has air conditioning though? I don't know. Well, it'll be November when I'm there, so hopefully it has heat, but we'll see. All right.
Starting point is 02:57:35 I doubt, I'm doing a vent in Danville. I really doubt an old slave cabin had heat. Oh, I'm sure, yeah, I'm sure it's been updated a little bit there. Oh, I thought they, oh, okay. Oh, okay. Yeah. I thought you wanted to do research.
Starting point is 02:57:52 My son who's a... You're doing research, right? Obtuce, not full non-sequit, but a bit off. My son was just in New York, and on the subway, he was asked by an African-American guy for money, and he didn't give him money, and he said the guy looked at him and he said, you're a slave owner, which is where we are. Yeah, well, I would have given some commands then. You're like, oh, okay.
Starting point is 02:58:17 Well, well, I'm going to want... I'm trying to help. I mean, yeah, you threw me that ball. It's, yeah. It's the train. What is he going to do? Well, yeah, I don't know. You get on a dart bus and see what interactions you have.
Starting point is 02:58:34 You might get to know one a little too well. Yeah. Have you heard from him again? No. Just gone? Good. You're a homeless guy? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:58:45 What a shame. Well, but he was his friend. We did become friends, yeah. Just not the type of friends, Angela. wanted. He told me, yeah, okay, yeah. You're a good dude. All right, so, um, Dumbzone.com, you can get tickets for the comedy event Saturday with Jimmy Nelson,
Starting point is 02:59:01 um, and you can buy Mr. Hamlet's book wherever you, I don't know, where do you make the most money if people buy it here? Uh, well, all of, it's all going to,
Starting point is 02:59:09 uh, you think it's all about money for him? No, that's, all the proceeds go to, uh, the University of Virginia. We establish a program called the Causeways program,
Starting point is 02:59:18 uh, and it's about social discourse. Um, and a great professor that's been hired, and it's working through all of these things, like what happens on subways, and perception, not outrage. That's cool.
Starting point is 02:59:35 Yeah. I recommend the audiobook. It's great. Audio book is really, really good. They're all good. The audiobook, no, it's an actor out of L.A. Ray, and he does a fabulous job. Thank God I didn't need it.
Starting point is 02:59:47 Yeah. I did want to do my dad's voice. They wouldn't let me do that. You know, I don't know. Because you were dressed like he sleep? No, it's just he's got a very, he's. Frank, we told you about the pants. Yeah.
Starting point is 03:00:02 I'm the opposite. I'm naked from the waist up when I sleep. Okay. But he, I, uh, I lost my train of thought. What happens? I'm sure. You had me thinking about my sleeping habit. Right.
Starting point is 03:00:16 The train will come back around sometime. Sometime. Sometime. Yeah. Just call us. Yeah. Just call us, whatever. Yeah, any other closing remarks, though?
Starting point is 03:00:24 Anything else before we get out of here? No, I thank you very much for having me on again. Super appreciative. Thank you for having us out here, man. Yeah. Thanks to half-price books. We love half-price books. Great people in charge here.
Starting point is 03:00:41 One weird deal that you may or may not be aware of you, you had the AI conversation just to bring it back briefly to that, is there's a book out that has now been pulled. because they've proven that a good bit of the authorship was AI. And it had two big publishing companies bidding on it. Wow. And it's, you know, Brave New World stuff. Not a single mouse with breasts in that entire.
Starting point is 03:01:05 They wouldn't allow it. It's a damn shame. They're censoring us. We'll see you guys. Adios, mofo. We've got to go before this becomes a zoo. See you guys for drinks later. Thank you for watching my video.
Starting point is 03:01:17 Subscribe and type for my name if you want to watch more of my video. Okay, man, I need you guys to take a couple steps back. They're getting smashed up here.
