Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, I'm Dan McDowell, long-time professional broadcaster. Why subscribe to our Patreon podcast? Well, perhaps you support our struggle to get out from under the oppressive thumb of the man. Or, objectively, if you sign up at patreon.com slash the dumb zone, you'll get the two episodes per week that are available on all podcast platforms, like this one, plus an additional two episodes each week that are exclusive to Patreon. So subscribing on Patreon gets you four episodes per week. Oh my, what a bargain.
Starting point is 00:00:35 Now on to today's program. The dunza. The duns a dumps. Ah, yes, happy Thursday, Jake. Let's talk about Fairlease. We're going there on Friday. Tomorrow. We are, it's Fairlease Eve.
Starting point is 00:00:50 Fairlease.org. It's a Fairlease kickoff event. They'll have food trucks. They'll be giving away televisions. But mostly they'll be... I love both of those things. Talking to you about the good word of Fair Least, they're backed by the credit union to Texas.
Starting point is 00:01:04 That means they can work with you when it comes to your credit history. They can also work with you when it comes to finding whatever vehicle you need, be that for your personal usage or commercial. We've got a bunch of friends in the business world that get their vehicles from Fairlease. 972-705-4815. That's how you'll get a hold of Connor or Nick, Fairlease.org, or you can come out there tomorrow. and meet people who have met Brandon Aubrey, several of them.
Starting point is 00:01:33 That's a weird copy point. What was Brandon like? You got new people you can ask. Brandon Aubrey recently got a vehicle for his family from Fairleys. How's his credit? You know, they worked with them. They can ask. I'm just saying you can ask.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Pre-contract. Hit them up, Fairlease.org. We'll see you tomorrow. Fair lease, when you don't know what to do about it, I need a dealership, baby. I'm Jake Kevin. I'm Blake Jones. Booty CK.
Starting point is 00:02:41 That's why they call it the dumb zone. We are in an odd location today. The Game Day Men's Health Studio. Remember Game Day Men's Health Studio? I knew I felt a little tingle downstairs. I know you remember Game Day Men's Health, but we just haven't been at the home base in quite some time. The place that helps you get to home base.
Starting point is 00:03:04 We were in California. Then Blake had a... Girls basketball thing. We had to go broadcast near. Champions aren't made during the season. It's the offseason where the gold medal is achieved. That's why he shaved. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:25 They didn't want to be the mustache guy. He stepped on that landmine before. I saw an article the other day in one of the woke papers describing something called the Pajama Mafia. and it is the proliferation of people on the sidelines at high school football and basketball games that have been credentialed to shoot the game. So video, we actually have a friend who's little brother, right, does Dallas Hoopsine. Yeah. But all these little, all these Instagram accounts, not little, but, and it's just you've got tons and tons of kids in pajama pants with $1,000 cameras hired by the parents often.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Really? Yeah. I read where schools are going to start charging those folks. I mean, at some point. They're monetizing off of your content. That's a great point. You see a lot of videos and, you know, they don't totally have the decorum of like Fox 4's photographer.
Starting point is 00:04:25 Just put it that way. Speaking of monetizing, we have a, we're in the Fox 4 building, of course. That's where the Game Day Men's Health Studio is, GameDay.com. We have a sit-in. It is Kyler. I don't like to say your last name.
Starting point is 00:04:42 because then it makes people, that distracts me from your company. This is our newest advertiser. His name is Kyler and his company is Atlas Foundation Company. But his last name is Ford. So Kyler Ford, get out to Kyler Ford. That's what you're hearing? Right. That's in my head.
Starting point is 00:05:05 I do that. their head. So can I just go with Kyler? If that works for you. Just Kyler. It's called Atlas Foundation Company. And we did a soft launch. Remember that?
Starting point is 00:05:23 I do. Just a tip. On Monday's show. So today is a very hard opposite of Flaccid. The thing is that in between then and now, he's been inside my home. And all the way up inside it. I did. I walked in my house yesterday and this guy was dressed like Walter White in my living room.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Do they set an egg in the middle of the floor and see if it rolls or what do we do? How do we do it? Yeah, no egg needed. I had to crawl around underneath it. We knew we needed a guy. I know the house? Tough times over there. It's where I live.
Starting point is 00:06:03 It's where I live. We got peer and beam or slab? What are we doing there? Peer and beam. Oh, yeah. So I had the pleasure of peer and beam. See in the bottom side of Jake's house. Got all the way in there.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Like you yourself or do you have people? I did. I'm pretty sure I poked my head out and waved at Jake as he walked by. He's in the month. He's in there. Okay. Taking bullets. And we do understand there is a brand new phone number.
Starting point is 00:06:30 You have gotten just for the dumb zone listener. That's correct. Now it's such a nice thing you've done for them. It's called, it's 817. 672-9950 if you suspect you have foundation issues right cracks in above the doorway or if you're Jake and you just know this place is 80 years old and there's something wrong it's part of the game call kiler they've been doing it since 1958 dan he looks so young i know the uh the copy point Kyler was telling us about is that they don't have like high pressure salespeople in fact
Starting point is 00:07:13 they don't have salespeople you're going to talk to Kyler right that's correct no salesman okay so nobody's going to be up your ass and uh they they do good work if you would like this good work done uh but uh free estimates right you could just yes free estimates especially for Dallas we used to charge but if you mentioned dumb zone it's free Okay, because you're located over Tarrant County Way. Correct. All right. So he has said in the past, he would not go past the bush if, or you would charge money to come out past there.
Starting point is 00:07:51 But if you are a dumb zone listener and you live near Blake, he will actually go to your house for a free estimate. Blake lives in Wiley. Yep. You've been to Wiley? Collin County. I have. It's a little far out there, isn't it? That's up there.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Everything's far for you. Everything is far. side of Dallas as far, but we'll do it for Dumbzone. All right. The commitment. Well, there you go. Atlas Foundation Company. What's the website if you want to go there?
Starting point is 00:08:16 Does everybody know that? It's on the screen, but yes. No, I'm asking Kyler. He's the guy. I waited. It's www. Atlas Foundation Inc.com. Inc.
Starting point is 00:08:25 I-N-C. Okay. All right. So welcome. Welcome to the, the Dumb Zone family. I guess it is. Thank you. Glad to be here.
Starting point is 00:08:36 You know, we're just a family. I don't consider this to be anything, but just a bunch of people. I'm just a people person. I've been listening to a lot of Shadi this morning. You appreciate the approach of Jeff Fisher and the Vince Young documentary. He's like, everybody says these teams are families. Every family I know is dysfunctional and effed up. Dude, I walked away from that, like Jeff Fisher's a great guy.
Starting point is 00:08:59 What? I'm not surprised by that. I did not walk away from that thinking, boy, I would hate to have Jeff Fisher. Didn't we got a text? from a guy who was in training camp with Jeff Fisher. Yeah. Well, we could say it, right? John Hampton.
Starting point is 00:09:14 Yeah. Former SMU. He just said he was great. He was like everyone loved him. He said he was awesome. McNair loved him. The whole team loved him. I don't know, man.
Starting point is 00:09:22 I liked it, and I told John this. I liked hearing him on pardon my take. He was funny and entertaining and he's got coach quips. But I just think I want to Greg O'Shawn Salisbury him. He talks and acts like he's Bill Belichick. like a fern could have done what Jeff Fisher's done. I've been, you know what? I've seen all these guys flame out too from the draft,
Starting point is 00:09:45 like especially the Michigan guys. None of these guys know what they're doing. How about that? None of them know what they're doing at all. The NFL draft is a complete crapshoot. The scouts have barely any impact on it. That's where I'm at these days. Yet they all talk as if you couldn't possibly understand.
Starting point is 00:10:02 Jeff Fisher is a moron. is what I'm saying. There are guys, but I feel like it's the guys who don't act as if they know everything. The guys who are, like, curious about the game. Jeff Fisher seems like he's in there to tell you how it's going to be. Can I give you a sports note to start? Or can we do whatever you want, man? Just because I don't know how much time we're going to get into the,
Starting point is 00:10:28 or have to get into this later. But the Clippers, man. Pablo Torre. taking his victory lap The Clippers Is that him prancing around over there? Is he gay? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Oh, okay. He's WHL. I just don't like him. Probably, yeah. But he does fantastic work, and I never for one second doubted that he was right about whatever he was doing here. He's the best in the game.
Starting point is 00:10:59 I mean, it's a, yes, it's a major allegation. Like, you would think they've done all the work. What is even funnier about this is that Pablo Tori breaks this after breaking it, after everything, you get that ESPN article by Don Van Netta, no less,
Starting point is 00:11:17 among others, which totally did all the investigating with the NBA and they determined there's nothing to see here. The NBA will not press forward. Because everybody wants to get, be first. So hey, should we just
Starting point is 00:11:33 wait for the NBA to announce whether they're going to no, no, no, no, no. We got to break this story. So they broke a story that the NBA will, there will be no sanctions against the Clippers or Kawhi Leonard. That was like a week ago. And then yesterday the NBA actually did release. Hey, actually, five first round draft picks, consecutive years, which I find odd.
Starting point is 00:11:57 Like, that's such a horrible thing to the NBA. We had to have the Ted Steppian rule. You can only trade draft picks every other year. because that would just kill a franchise, debilitate it, if you were to be able to trade, you know, multiple years in a row. And they were like, yeah. Turn up the pressure. That's what we're trying to do, is debilitate your franchise.
Starting point is 00:12:24 Suspending Balmer for a year. Suspending the president of basketball, Lawrence Frank for a year. Oh, Lawrence Frank, man. What a career. Or six months. He was... Is he the guy fired by Kyrie? No.
Starting point is 00:12:42 No, but... What coach was that? Kenny Atkinson. Lawrence Frank was once the Nets coach, I believe. But he got in a parking spot fight with Mark Jackson. He got crossways with Jason Kidd once. Great career. Yeah, I bet the biggest thing for Ballmer is probably not being able to go to the games for a year.
Starting point is 00:13:03 where you can just scream. No, I mean, I never doubted that Pablo Torre was right about this. And I don't even really know who his financial backers are. I know he has some, but I know they're not the NBA. And when a famed member of the Miss Piggy panel, Ramona Shelburne puts her name on something, it means about the same thing as just, you know, they're just mouthpieceing for the owners. Yeah. That's all the...
Starting point is 00:13:34 It's no different than when they do it for agents. So if you're going to ESPN for investigative reporting, then you've missed the boat. It appears that's in their past. Yeah. I mean, but really, it's weird it ever wasn't. They commercially benefit from the games, right? Like, it doesn't... It's always been an odd situation.
Starting point is 00:13:58 You know, cable news is weird, right? But still, it... it's pretend news. Yeah. And some of these other people, Pablo is not a pretend reporter, you know? So there's probably lots of this sort of stuff going on to be honest with you. The only way to do this anymore is to be independent. Oh, without a doubt.
Starting point is 00:14:18 I mean, but that's actually, that's probably been the case to some extent for some time. But I bet you there's a lot of this stuff going on, you know, look at the Dodgers thing. Oh, yeah. What do you bet? Like, what, 75? 75% of the owners right now, if you could really just crack their shit and open it up, they would end up in jail. And it's because they usually control things. They control the narrative. If any reporters do kind of step out of line. What if we just, we don't allow you in the building anymore? There are plenty of ways.
Starting point is 00:14:51 The Titans guy who is after your favorite quarterback in NFL history, Cam Ward. Yes. I'm hoping Cam will step in. You and Blake, like, there's a reporter that asked, you know, how would you assess your performance this preseason? And he said, well, how would you assess my performance? And the reporter said, not good. And they just, all right, you can't come to press conferences anymore. He was just answering a question, like, should I have not answered that question from Cam Ward? Should I have not asked him a question that might lead him to have to say something mean about himself?
Starting point is 00:15:27 I see how you've done nothing but blow them or whatever for the, you know, we see hard knocks. We see the way you treat Cam Ward. You know, maybe he does need somebody to get up his ass. That's all that reporter was trying to do. No, that's chicken ass big time. I wanted to get, so just saw this online. So totally, what did the clippers give up for Kawhi Leonard? You know, this penalty plus what they gave up.
Starting point is 00:15:57 and all that. Ten first-round draft picks. Two first-round pick swaps. The two-time so-far MVP, SGA, $30 million in a fine. Owner suspended for a year, the GM and everything suspended. All this for seven years, an average of 47 games per season. in the last five years of that,
Starting point is 00:16:30 they did not get past the first round of the playoffs. Two of those years, they didn't even make the playoffs. So it's amazing to see these guys with all the – because Balmer has all the money. He could buy all the other owners, it seems like. But, hey, I'm going to – you want to see it as a sports fan. Hey, he's going to throw tons of money at this? Great.
Starting point is 00:16:53 He's going to do everything he can. And it still blew up. his face. It's kind of like the Carolina Panthers owner. Remember? Saw that hard knocks. He comes in. David Tepper. Yeah, I'm coming in the NFL and it's sports can be very humbling, I guess. Yeah, I don't know if this is all connected or not, but you know, in some other countries, there's situations where you can't really be rich unless you've really, really earned it. and if there's oil in the ground, it's owned by the government, things of this nature. And it's almost like the random-ass nature of how this happens in America produces some real fucking morons who end up at the top of the food chain.
Starting point is 00:17:39 There's really no rhyme or reason to how a lot of these people ended up where they are. They just are. And now they're expected to have an acumen that is 99th percent. because they have 99th percentile influence and money. I don't think it works out that way. You get a bunch of people who end up just kind of running by the seat of their pants. Get up! Like this guy.
Starting point is 00:18:09 Come on, get up! I desire! Well, you did indicate if I'm as psyched as you are, so I'm going to stay sitting here. Soroy's in here early because of we're going to do picks in a moment. and that reminds me of an advertiser that we share with the Soroy program, Puddle Pools. Oh, yeah. And it looks like Patrick has tried his hand at writing some more Puddle Pools copy. Would you like me to read it for you?
Starting point is 00:18:45 He says Puddle Pools is making a splash in South Lake, Grapevine, Flower Mound, and Trophy Club. So note how he used Splash there. Yeah. This ad has a dad-joke budget, and we intend to use all of it. Fall is actually the perfect time to plan your backyard paradise for next pool season. Were you waiting until it's 105 degrees to call a pool builder? That's a shallow decision. Puddle pools does everything from renovations, plaster, tile, coping and decking to brand-new custom pool builds.
Starting point is 00:19:15 They'll take your backyard from pool excuse to pool party. And if your current pool has more cracks than Jared Sandler's football picks, they will take a look at that. Quit treading water, start planning this fall. It's puddle pools. We have a dumb zone offer. You sign up for one year of maintenance. You get your first month for free.
Starting point is 00:19:37 I actually think it's better to sign up for the year and take the fourth month for free. Ooh, I'm a six-month guy. I like to get that six-month free. Q-2. You just kind of feel good heading into the second half of the year then. I like where your head's at. Go to puddlepools.com slash.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Dumb Zone to find out. All right. I know. What are we doing now? Oh. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages.
Starting point is 00:20:11 That's right. Soroy's here. It is time. Thanks for your all these time. I was ready to rock. And I agree with you because you're getting a mental budget of those payments coming out. And then like right around month five, it's like, oh, freebie. Whip,
Starting point is 00:20:24 Whip, Whip, like that's a really good idea. Yes, these picks this year will have six members, member. Of course,
Starting point is 00:20:38 the old Blake, Jake, Dan, we're obligated to be there. But we have invited some others to join us this year. We have... Mike Soroy.
Starting point is 00:20:53 Hello. We have Kevin K.T. Turner. And we have... 92-5 Lone Star. We also have T-C. So welcome. Welcome one and all. Mike.
Starting point is 00:21:07 Just to prove I support your sponsors, I've been shopping. I think Jake knows this for an F-150 recently, just kind of looking around. And I got up to Kyler Ford. I swear to God, dude. And for a while, I was confused because there was no salesman anywhere on the whole lot. Well, that's the thing. He doesn't have salesman, right? Angie Stevens was out there.
Starting point is 00:21:26 What if Kyler Ford? This would be less disappointing if he had not come in one day and done a live spot for a separate leasing company one Monday. A live spot. He's like, oh, you know what I did this weekend? I mentioned. I like whichever one of you guys use, and I apologize. What a failed car dealership that would be? It's Atlas Foundation Inc.
Starting point is 00:21:46 Yeah, but Atlas Foundation Company doesn't have salespeople. What if that's just Kyler's bit? And he's like, my car dealership doesn't either. Yeah. Like, what do people do? How would you sell a car? you wouldn't have to go talk. Maybe that'd be cool.
Starting point is 00:22:00 You just kind of grab it off the rack. Anyway, well. Welcome, guys. Hello. Can I ask why don't we have an intern Henry today? He blew a tire on his way in. Nice. You think that kid is rotating his tires and balancing them and, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:20 That's a real Henry-ass thing that have happened. Dude, it was not surprising in the least bit. No, Dan suffers from not. Sometimes not remembering that he was 22 occasionally, I think. Tire's going to blow. I mean, you know, like, what do you think he the last time he got his oil changed was? Although his family is, I think, quite wealthy. I once ruined a car because I just didn't get my oil change for like a couple years.
Starting point is 00:22:44 Yeah. And then it just, it somehow died, like, it was a weird experience to have that die on the road. I was going like 55 or whatever. Final destination type. Yeah. And then they're just like, well, you can't have this. car anymore. It will not run at all. So we had to just get another car.
Starting point is 00:23:01 Imagine if it just caught on fire. Yeah, like this guy, he's lived to a car fire. That's my biggest fear, Mike. On my 40th birthday. On my way to the ticket. Collection of heroes here. Got a narcoleptic. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:15 Car fire. I've never had any car incidents. No, but fend it off an attacker. Yeah. That's number one ranked. All right. So every week, we're going to do picks. We're going to do 10,
Starting point is 00:23:27 He's just laughing because one time TC accidentally drove forward off of a loading dock, and I feel like we should re-release that story. We should put that back out to the wild. It's probably been 10 years since I mentioned that. Just like dropped in the middle then? How do you get that off? Well, I don't know. Did you fall totally down or just it's just left hanging there?
Starting point is 00:23:48 I was stuck, and then I gunned it and I made it off. Wow. You didn't slowly tump forward through the windshield. I don't know if I wish I had that. that video more than, or if I had the video of TC running through my backyard and then trying to jump the literally seven inches up onto my deck and he didn't quite get there and he lifted it. Yeah, I tried hard to get that file off that disc, but no avail.
Starting point is 00:24:19 What a time. Anyway, we talked last week about a bunch of possible payoffs. we have chosen one, but let's talk about some of the ones that we're not going to do. We're not going to do the Pat McAfee album recreation, right? I do love it. That's a great idea. And I love it as a bit. Like, I feel as if we should all combine forces and produce our own album, just about all the haters
Starting point is 00:24:46 and how much people are hating on our takes or whatever his album is about. I assume that's... That does seem fun. Yeah, and we could do videos. I think it'd be fun. The problem with that bit entirely, though, is getting other people to do stuff for you because you would need the music experts,
Starting point is 00:25:05 which we know with George and stuff, but that would just be a burden. It would be a burden. I think if we used a considerable amount of AI, like Pat Mac if he did, it would be probably just fine. You know, we're not selling it. So there's something here, I think.
Starting point is 00:25:20 And one song might be more realistic than a... Maybe a posse cut. Fine. I mean, four or five songs. I think the AI music thing is very easy. We're all capable of writing a parody verse. There's something there for sure. I like it.
Starting point is 00:25:37 A ska jam for Blake because I think Blake's going to lose. I already got a written ready to go. I don't know, man. Scott Blake is funny to me. That would be hilarious. It's like real big fish. Do you have any others that we almost picked? Because we're not going to do it.
Starting point is 00:25:55 Well, we already got the pick. Are we doing? Tyler, who's unaffiliated to my knowledge with a car dealership, did reintroduce digging a hole. Oh, yeah. As that is part of the process, I think, of foundation work. And if we were to live stream, you know, someone just digging a grave,
Starting point is 00:26:14 that's, I think that's got legs for something. I've done it before. You guys, you're not going to like it. It all sounds fun now, but. Child rehab. teen rehab. Yeah. Damn.
Starting point is 00:26:26 That was a big punishment. It's just like the movie. How long? How much can you dig in like an hour? I just wonder even that. Way less than you think. Way less. Like, did you ever have to dig enough like that it would be an actual grave size?
Starting point is 00:26:41 Not me, but kids would have to. I was a good boy. Really? How long would that take, do you think? Multiple days? Days. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:26:50 I've done a large in-ground pond. in West Texas, and that soil is not forgiving. And it took seven hours with like three or four breaks. And that was about half of a grave. The pluribus lady did it in just a few hours. Yeah. Okay, when he said pond, I thought much bigger than grave. Okay, so that's half a grave?
Starting point is 00:27:10 Yeah, like the in-ground pond things. Yeah. No, if I was doing a big pond, I'd have a backhoe. Okay, so that was interesting. It is apparently hunting cizzen. So there were some hunting related. but the thing is I just know that's no pun intended, dead on arrival with Dan.
Starting point is 00:27:28 But like having to... I'll hunt milf. Having to go, I know, you will. You have to bag one milf no matter how long it takes. Yeah. T.C.'s following me around, a video camera. Nursery store.
Starting point is 00:27:41 Awkwardly interact with people at a bar. Dude, the grocery store one is great. CVS, dude. I thought that this is probably going to be my life. Every time I go in... Oh, you're looking at sunglasses. Coyler's talking hunting. You have to go fetch ducks.
Starting point is 00:27:56 He said that he bagged his limit this weekend, probably not the right verbiage. And I said, what's your dove limit? He said 15. So I'm like, all right, that one of us would have to stay out there until we bag our limit. Losers got to catch a boar, trap a boar. Is that what you guys saying?
Starting point is 00:28:15 I mean, I'm like most hunters, I want to kill every animal I see. I just get pretty pissed inside. But I want to do it with my hands. You can do that then. Yeah. You can. I need to see the life.
Starting point is 00:28:26 I mean, you do have to dispatch the dove by pulling their head off. Oh, you do? Oh, yeah. Boy, that sounds like, pop the top. You're always talking about your... Anna K. You're always talking about how you're the hunter-gatherer of your family. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:38 I don't know. Anna K's deal. Don't let her off lightly on that. That involves a saw. Popping a dove's head off feels like opening a 20-ounce bottle of Coke. She's a sicko. Anyway, so what we are going to... going to do, we have decided.
Starting point is 00:28:54 All right. The payoff will be from February 15th until the Hall of Fame game. I don't like it. Wearing an earring. Yeah. However,
Starting point is 00:29:08 we here at the dumb zone have come up with a bit of a twist. Because... The right ear. Whatever the... You're so gay. Well, yeah, when I was a kid, people were starting to do earrings. And it was like you had to know which ear, though, because if you wore it in your right ear, that's cool. But if you wore it in your left ear, you're telling everyone that you're gay.
Starting point is 00:29:33 So the right side ear was the gay one, apparently. It's correct. All right. In Miami, Florida, as well. I bet. I do not have intern Henry here, so that's where we treat Kyler like the intern. Kyler, come on over here. Kyler from...
Starting point is 00:29:49 There he goes. from Atlas Foundation Co. So what I'm handing, Kyler, is our sardine bag. Remember somebody gave us a sardine bag? Yeah. In that sardine bag are three balled up pieces of paper. Take those over by Mike Soroy, please.
Starting point is 00:30:09 What's happening? Are we doing it? Okay. On those three balled up pieces of paper is... Oh, isn't a Soroy complaint? This is too complicated and convoluted. I'm realizing that you might be pulling. I don't want.
Starting point is 00:30:20 I was going to say, I don't want to hear a word. We'll hold that bag for you. You will pick a ball of paper out and you will see your teammate. That's exactly what I odd. We are doing teammates here. Shit. So, Dan, Jake, and Blake, one of those guys will lose and have to be wearing a earring on camera from February 15th. And one of you three will also lose.
Starting point is 00:30:49 Okay. TC. Okay, so two of us are going to have KT. That's right. But it'll be determined by the other person's record? Both together. Like I got to have Blake's shitty picks saddle to me. That's right.
Starting point is 00:31:03 That is right. So it's a team concept. And your teammate, Mike Storoy, will be. Drum roll please. This feels like a balled up. Just a wrap one piece of paper and unballed. it and show it to the camera. My man.
Starting point is 00:31:24 Dan. Oh, yeah. Hey, I told you. I'm happy. The right ear is the gay one, boys. And I'll let you know that this morning was the first time that I pitched this to the wife. And she had a much more negative reaction than I was expecting. Because you're going to have to wear it in family pictures?
Starting point is 00:31:47 Family pictures. your little school board meeting, soccer coaching. You are doing school board meetings. On stage. Yeah. A new comedian, Jake. Yeah, a little... Prop comedy.
Starting point is 00:31:59 I was sold zero sex with earring. And I said... Right. Because I'm married. I said, I'll put the little, like, clear one in, right? I assume that was something you could do. And she indicated to me that this is a much more involved process than any of us. She's like, the beginning, there's a lot of maintenance.
Starting point is 00:32:26 Like, you're going to have to take care of it to keep the hole from closing up. It's all crusty. You have to leave. Let's just not do it. Yeah. The Roy O'S felt perfect game challenge seemed fun. I'm just saying, I think the upfront, whoever this is is going to be bitching. Like, you're going to be like, oh, this is fine.
Starting point is 00:32:42 It's cool. It's nearing. And in week one, you're like, the ladies just do this? It's not as bad as nipple piercing. See, that's what you should know, right? Yes, I do know. And you have to leave it in no matter what. Blake had his nipple pierced, and then he did not leave it in because his wife got pretty excited one night.
Starting point is 00:32:57 Right. Removed it orally. I'm saying with an earring more sex will be happening. Damn. Like, orally? She removed it somehow during passion. Ripped it out. She just saw it and went for it.
Starting point is 00:33:07 She got naughty. A fish and a lure. All right, so Dan and Mike's Lurie. If you get the, uh, spinner bait on there. Oh, what a good earring. We need to, every 15 minutes or so, something like this happens because you were just talking about maybe you could, you have to do maintenance. Would you be able to do preventative maintenance to get your ear ready? They're good.
Starting point is 00:33:33 Like you would for your home with community mechanical. The PM is what you want to sign up for. Preventative maintenance, that's how they get you out and get you into their system. and that way if something does break down, they can take care of it and limit the damage there for you. We've had a bunch of people who have had community come out and look at quotes that other companies have said
Starting point is 00:33:55 where thousands and thousands of dollars they were able to replace the part for a couple hundred bucks. Thereby earning your trust. If you do replace your unit with community, you will get a sin. You will get to come live the dreams of Kyler from Atlas who's having a grand time today. It's communitydfw.com.
Starting point is 00:34:14 Hit up Travis anytime, I think, pretty much any time. Probably business hours. And he'll get back to you. Communitydfw.com at communitydfw.com. Community mechanical. Travis and the team real cool. You don't want your house to explode. Don't be a bitch.
Starting point is 00:34:32 So pick up the phone. Dan almost died. Back up. All right. So it's the two, one team is settled. It is Mike Soroy And me I kind of like it
Starting point is 00:34:46 Dan Soroy Now I guess Based on KT Picking his partner We'll know who TC's partner is as well But let's go Drumroll for KT Jake or Blake
Starting point is 00:35:01 Who do you want? The ladies love what Jake is doing right now All I know is Blake does not want KT Yeah that's what I want Blake does not want KT. Let's go, Blake. Yes. Let's put our differences aside.
Starting point is 00:35:17 IJB. Let's see. Show it to the camera. Prove it. It is real. It is real. It's real and it's spectacular. No, no doubt, dude.
Starting point is 00:35:28 We'll ride the Golden Dumbers all year long. And then, yes, the two little butt buddies, they love each other. We knew each other for a long time. God, cowboy and Notre Dame fan coming in. hot, overconfident. Because this is what we were trying to, well, not trying to avoid, but we're like, we could just dole out the teams. And Jake's like, well, I'll team up with TC.
Starting point is 00:35:50 And Blake and I were like, all right, I don't know about this. Yeah. But he just sat back. God's will, brother. We just saw it all work out. God's what they have happened. IJB is just going to be strategy meetings for the rest of the fall. No, and that is a, there is, despite the connection there, Dan, Blake and Jake have a, a
Starting point is 00:36:09 code of honor. I'm a little worried about the Danceroy Union because Soroy can get anyone to do anything, but If you watch is too much Survivor. No, I know that, exactly. And chicken or the egg there, right? But I think we all
Starting point is 00:36:25 know you can't collude. It would not be fun to do so. It would be counterproductive. With your own partner? Yeah, like you could fade your, you could run like an average, right? If you wanted to. Yeah, like, oh, we're up five games. And so because of that, you cannot have the same triple play.
Starting point is 00:36:43 Like, even the same game. Yeah. So we can't. Is it colluding to discuss picks and be like, hey, I love this game. I don't have room for it. Dan, do this. Like, discuss picks. And that's strategy.
Starting point is 00:36:54 Yeah, like with your. That's a good question. Partner that you've selected out of them. I think they can do that. It's just going to fall on deaf ears on this side of the table. I think just make your picks. Yeah. I mean, if you do triple, I guess.
Starting point is 00:37:04 I just don't want you to like go down every, like, with six weeks left, be like, like, We could just push this and fade all the slate other than the triple. Now, you could end up that could backfire because the triples can screw you, right? Yeah. So I don't know. I feel like we just don't have the triple rule and we'll figure it out from there. Triple rule makes perfect sense. Yeah, I mean, whatever.
Starting point is 00:37:24 So how many games each week? Ten. Yeah. Or seven games, one is a triple play. Yeah. So we will give out the, you know, it's usually four NFL games, three NFL games plus the Cowboys and then three college games, and then you can pick any game for a triple play. Yeah, so that's what we're doing this year.
Starting point is 00:37:45 Every Thursday, at 1145, we will do the picks. And so in the event that... And then KT will go do his work. Father crap, yeah. I would like to formally invite you to join us next February to football. So in the event that you're wearing an earring, you'll at least be around on Fridays. You have a show Tuesdays and Thursday nights. we would expect you to have it on during that.
Starting point is 00:38:11 Same goes for you. And Haymaker, the earring is on, right? T.C.'s around a lot. Will Mrs. T.C. be upset with T.C. wearing an earring in family photos? Man, we're more good friends at this point. I don't think it's a big factor. I have questions. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:34 So just the two, let's say Dan and I lose. We lose the bet. We both get our ears pairs. This would be perfect, too, because you only wear one earring, right? Well, that's, yeah, that's among the... Is that where you're going? Like, we buy some earrings, but you could just have one and I'll have one. Oh, so we wear matching earrings?
Starting point is 00:38:51 Money saving? I guess we don't have to. Sometimes it might be fun, though. I'm trying to get the first one. You know, if you don't want to match, it's fine. Do we pick our own earrings? Yeah, I think you do. I mean, I think probably you...
Starting point is 00:39:04 You got to be able to see it. Okay, but... Can't be the tiniest little. A small silver tasteful stud. Yeah. It's good. Meeting the minimum requirement of wearing an earring. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:15 Like Blake wanted to do the one that the big gauge. The gauge. That takes months. That's insane. And it's permanently scarred. But Blake can do that when he loses. He crossed that off when he crossed off DML Choppos' wife. I thought that hoops.
Starting point is 00:39:29 I thought you should have to do a hoop and it gets a little bit bigger each week. Well, no, here's, I don't want to hear a guy that's not playing. You end up as Ricky Waters by the end of it. No, I think it is incumbent upon all of us to know that there are bits to be done. I want T.C. to have a little pepper hanging like he does on his Cortina's family reunion t-shirt that he wore to Barry Switzer's house. I want a hoop. I want some sort of magic-related earring from Mike's room.
Starting point is 00:39:57 A little golf club. A little cheesehead stud in KT's ear. The head of a dove that Kyler blew to Holy Hell. Yeah. Whatever. And there's no, and I don't, this is too much, but we originally discussed if the winners could pick the earrings. Should we maybe add, like, one month?
Starting point is 00:40:15 Like the first month when you lose, the winning team selects the earrings for the losing team. I like that. And then after that, you can go down to a stud or whatever the hell you want to try to hide. Why do we want to make this more confusing? No, but I think there's something to do that. Does we don't get anything right now? Because, oh, you and I won't get any satisfaction after we win.
Starting point is 00:40:33 Well, no. You're right. The winner should. Maybe that's picking the earrings. Yeah. Okay. The winners pick the earrings. For at least a month?
Starting point is 00:40:40 For the first month. Just because I know listeners are going to give earrings, things like that. On World War II stuff or whatever, just don't. Like Blake, when someone gives us a T-shirt, Blake will wear that shirt the very next day, I think, right? I will. And so don't you think people are going to want to see Blake's earring? I think of a sit-in gifts and earring, yeah, you got to put it in. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:02 That's the move. Your sardine earring. So many earrings. Yeah. You have so much shit in here already. So KT. Hey. You have a tackle box.
Starting point is 00:41:12 Did you guys notice? He didn't have truck nuts hanging from your ear. That's a good one. Now, maybe he did ask you guys, but did you notice KT didn't even bother inviting us to his fantasy league this year for Saturday Night Live? Yeah. Oh, I didn't even ask. Oh, you guys didn't get in?
Starting point is 00:41:27 No, I mean. Are you in? Yeah. Hell yeah, T.C.'s in. One of his real friends. I saw a mic on the stream the other night. Oh, man. Took it seriously.
Starting point is 00:41:37 I did. I bet you some people from my list last year will get picked because that's kind of how I'm a little early on culture usually. Yeah, yeah. You're way ahead of the game. That's probably what happened. I invited because he's been knocking down the door for a couple years. Chris Spinks and he had the number one pick. And he took Turnstile with the number one pick.
Starting point is 00:41:58 Worst. Worst number one pick in history. Wow. And I was a hand. Dan, have you heard of turnstile? Of course. I mean, her. It would have been a good, like, eighth round pick.
Starting point is 00:42:09 I was just, after that happened, I was like, dang, I should have asked Dan and Jake if they wanted to do it. Yeah. Dan forgot last year, so I had to step in and I was not prepared. I would have just hired Spinks anyway. I know. It's what happened in year one, and it's why you weren't asked. He was my GM. What is the point?
Starting point is 00:42:28 I don't know. It's fun. Made KT mad. He still talks about it two years later. Do you think that's a good point? Well, worth it. Two minutes. Yeah, I guess so.
Starting point is 00:42:36 What if there's a tie for the losers? I have more questions. We're going to get out of that. We'll have tiebreaker. Whoever can make a thousand threes first. Right. That was T.C.'s only request was no physical. Yeah, that's why we...
Starting point is 00:42:50 Dan doesn't want to be outside. That's why we threw out the digging the whole thing. How's your baseball planning going? Good. It's happening. Okay. Can listeners come meet you at these games? Or would we be able to circle holics everywhere?
Starting point is 00:43:05 I mean, we're not going to like set up a big. come out but if people want to come out we're going to the last weekend home series of the season well that's not putting it off which is against the the bets hated Toronto Blue Jays and when is this it's September 18 19 20th because that's last weekend Friday so the Sororys will do their bet pay off we always were we're always going to do it and we're doing it we'll be out there we should have had this done by now yes because that Sunday it's played concurrently to a home Cowboys game. Oh, terrible planning.
Starting point is 00:43:41 Oh, man. You might be done Friday, though. Oh, that's awful. Are you going to take Trey? Are we going to have some film proof? We're going to take Trey, I think. All right. And he's not going to shoot us.
Starting point is 00:43:53 If we happen to catch a ball during the game, the odds that he's not shooting the whole game, but he'll shoot us BP beforehand if they're doing it, which I think they only do on Fridays, maybe. It doesn't appear they've been doing a lot of BP this year. He was Kevin Turner. I'm Mike Soroy. One of the, I think probably one of the drunkest times I ever had in public was walking over from a Rangers playoff.
Starting point is 00:44:18 No, a Cowboys game to a Rangers playoff game. Do you remember how deep we were mobbing that? Yes. That was. Because we did the double, which was so fun. A ton of dudes from the ticket were there and you're just like, you just see guys separate from their group just walking around like zombies. You're just like, where are you trying to get to? It's a longer walk than it looks. It's so long.
Starting point is 00:44:38 You ever try that in an NFL MLB doubleheader? And the baseball game was a playoff game. So everybody was just... Didn't they lose both? Yeah, I think so. Did the Cowboys? The Rangers both lose. We're like, whoa.
Starting point is 00:44:51 That was a long day. So much fun. All right. Well, that's picks. Good times. And we invite you guys back next week to actually make the first picks. I think next week we're doing Oh yeah, it's regular
Starting point is 00:45:06 Tuesday through Friday, right? The following week it'll be Monday through Thursday So But there's our guest pickers For being guest pickers this week This year We have some dumb zone shirts Wow
Starting point is 00:45:19 That Raymond made us And I want you to know Note something So he made some dumb zone football shirts Okay One of these is for Kyler as well So these are football based And it's got a little
Starting point is 00:45:32 helmet on it. Do you see that? Yeah, yeah. We're Scott Hansen. What's on that... What's on that helmet is what might be a collector's item soon. Ooh. That dumb zone logo. That's all I'm gonna say. Wait. That's all I can say. Damn. So here, take your pick of shirts and there's a 4x in here. Will that go for you? Doesn't have a T on it. Okay. Well, it's a 4X. Thank you. Yeah, they're always adding letters. All right. Now we're saying goodbye.
Starting point is 00:46:02 All right. Here you go. Yeah, here you go, Kyler. Intern, Kyler. He's here handling things for the boys. Thank you, boys. Thanks, y'all. Good times.
Starting point is 00:46:13 8.30 tomorrow, Beninskin, show, I'm starting 825. Nice. 8.30 tomorrow morning? Yeah. Okay. It starts at 8.30? Dirk is on it.
Starting point is 00:46:21 I think they started 6. Oh, he said, Dirk is on at 8.30. As Dirk asked you how many times he's going to introduce your new venture? Yeah. He likes doing it. Hey, anytime we launch something, let's get dirt. Hey, we just did Haymaker. Can you come on? Hey, we're on new radio station. Can you come on?
Starting point is 00:46:35 It's a good card to be able to play. He's on like every couple weeks. I don't even tell you about the science stuff we're working on. We're making a person. Whoa. All right. Say no more. There they go.
Starting point is 00:46:48 Let's do some sports right here, and then we'll do viewer mail. Okay. This will be brought just by Plum Quick. Another company of which I am a proud customer. Oh, yeah, I like that. What happened? Well, we had toilet backing up. I got an old house, Dan, and some of the plumbing, some of the foundation, it's going to be an issue.
Starting point is 00:47:10 And I called Robert out of Plumquick, and I said, hey, this is not super critical. But if you could get out here, and he did, and they did great work on clogging the toilet. There was a tile that had gotten somehow lodged in the pipe. Oh, that's right. Okay, yeah. Like a kid threw a tile down the toilet? I'm hoping it was a kid, Dan. Oh, okay. Went ahead and got myself signed up for that, for that annual, got the home membership.
Starting point is 00:47:36 That, of course, comes with whole home plumbing inspection, one drain cleaning per year, a camera inspection every year. Priority scheduling, a wave service fee and 10% off repairs up to 500 bucks, which I got. And I got it from PlumQuick. Plumquick Company.com. The special, Dumbzone phone number, 469, 331, 3669. You need a plumber. You need Plum quick. We need a little plum quick jingle. It feels naked to not have one at the end.
Starting point is 00:48:04 Yeah. Sing a little something, Blake. Get the boys in the lab. A little plum quick thing. Plum quick. There you go. Yeah, the stuff dreams are made of right there. I told you I was listening to some shoddy this morning.
Starting point is 00:48:18 Just the press conference after all the cuts and the moves and the Joe Milton back on the practice squad. What is going on? So, and they're kind of talking as if nothing really happened. No, we didn't release Joe Milton and expose him to like, no, no, no, we wanted three quarterbacks. So that'll be the three quarterbacks, you know, on game day. Certainly they are, you know, they do save money here and there at the low ends, right? They'll, hey, I'm not going to sign this guy because I can sign him next week off the practice squad. and I won't have to guarantee a contract for a year, something like that.
Starting point is 00:49:03 But I would have almost thought you would have exposed Sam Howell, and then if another team takes him, well, they take his $2 million contract off your hands, right? Right. But I guess they thought highly enough of him, or maybe they're just being really wise with Dak Prescott's age and the fact that he's likely to get hurt at some point this season. and then what if you only have one of those guys you know yeah that's my theory you're uh i guess
Starting point is 00:49:35 the idea is that you want three of them they're coming back yeah you're you're gonna expose one of them and you just hope that they both end up back here but at the end of the day i just don't see what sam how has done since he's been here that to me has said this guy's got a career as a backup he did start one year but what does that he's been here right yeah you said since he's been here what is he shown yeah and he started one year uh you know earlier in his career but that is the result of someone else making them their quarterback and that's it it's not like he beat out a team of suitors to become the commander's quarterback that year yeah so that it feels like an odd thing to just somebody's going to have to get experience at some point i would be surprised if sam how is able to go
Starting point is 00:50:24 out there and even do what Cooper Rush did. Because at least Cooper Rush had been in the system for years. So I don't get it. But it's also, if DAC is out, probably going to have a pretty tough road ahead anyway. So it feels foolish to get too wound up about it. I am interested in Sam Howells, Here We Go. Does he have a good, because Cooper Rush at the end was sounding exactly like Dak? It's an acceptable code switch.
Starting point is 00:50:50 They'll let you talk like a black guy if you're doing, if you're doing, if you're replacing him at quarterback. So another interesting storyline, or I guess a storyline, is that they made a trade for a backup lineman with the Steelers right at the end of training camp. And you're like, okay, so they don't, they're not happy with their backup linemen. This is a guy, though, that they're saying might start at some, like, here's the message. The message is they don't like Terrence Steele. And let me play you a little shoddy.
Starting point is 00:51:30 You said he won't play on the size. Drew Shelton, you're currently your backup left tackle? Right now, I also called Tyler Geithen when we made the trade, and I wanted to make sure Tyler Geithen understood that this has nothing to do with him. He's playing his tail off. He's doing great. And, you know, so at some point, as the competition, you know, comes clear, everybody has to swing.
Starting point is 00:51:52 But right now, left tackle, Tyler Guyton, backed up by Drew, and then right tackle was a competition between Terrence and Broder. He just kind of talked about how he called Terrence Steele, told him, look, you're in a competition now. We brought this guy in. He's gunning for your job. But he also made it a point to call Tyler Guyton to say, hey, man, don't worry. This is no reflection on what you've done at all.
Starting point is 00:52:18 You are the locked-in starter. This guy ain't even your backup. We're not, he's only, he's competing for the right tackle job. Another guy is your backup. You have no issues at all. And I just found that interesting to, I almost thought the way you usually do it is like, we're all, everybody's always competing for their job every day. But he wanted to make sure Tyler Geithen knows he's fine.
Starting point is 00:52:45 So I don't know if you have any thoughts on this. It just seemed odd to me. Well, I don't want to seem like a shoddy Homer, but I like it. I like it because I can't imagine Jason Garrett or Mike McCarthy doing it. And I also think confidence matters. At the end of the day, I feel like I'm using that crutch too much. It's millennial athletes. And I do think have to talk to them differently than you did before.
Starting point is 00:53:15 And even though Tyler Guyton's not a quarterback, he's still a first round pick that a lot of people think was headed towards bustville and for the coach to gas him up a little bit publicly and say actually you're the least of our worries right now this other this other guy we're plugging holes in the dyke here and that's what it feels like on the offensive line always so I don't have a huge I don't have a problem with it and I like that he called Terrence Steele now this is not shocking because
Starting point is 00:53:42 they thought Nate Thomas was going to unseat Terence Steele that's why Nate Thomas was here and they gave him every opportunity to do so and he was so bad that they're like we got to get another guy to try to fight for this spot it ain't the terence steel won the job like tyler guyton did they want tyler guyton to know that they're not looking at moving tyler smith it's his job he's the left tackle that's important but terence steel has not played well he's been okay but he's not he's not played well enough to lock down a spot this guy's a former top half of the first round draft pick you're going to take a run at it i like
Starting point is 00:54:19 motivating both guys in different ways. It works for me. Okay. It's interesting that, yeah, they're now just saying, because that has been the thought. Tyler Guyton was not your long-term left tackle. But at the same time, you have a better one. Somebody else plays.
Starting point is 00:54:37 Four or five years ago, Mike McCarthy got up there and was like, hey, this isn't fantasy football. We can't just move these guys around, which no one, you know. Turns out, first of all, two weeks later they did when they moved Zach Martin to left tackle. But also, you're not moving linemen in fantasy football. It's just an oaf.
Starting point is 00:54:55 I find this interesting, too, because they're talking about steel, and I guess they gave him a pay cut. Yeah, they re-works. This off-season? Yeah. And he took it. Here. What does it say about steel?
Starting point is 00:55:07 I made a contract decision with him, lowering his money, kind of called him out in camp, say, hey, we're challenging you. Then you trade for a guy, you know, and he's been a very doable player. If it was to say about him about his professionalism. Elite, you know, elite professional.
Starting point is 00:55:24 Terrence is one of those guys. And one of the things I said to Terrence, just sharing with you guys more than I probably plan to, was, you know, we need to figure out the right way to get him his work, but also not overwork. Okay, so basically, though, I mean, the media likes to frame certain things the way they want it to be. Because the way I frame it is,
Starting point is 00:55:46 what does it say about Steele that you attempted to motivate him time and time again. And he's still underperforming in your eyes so much so that you have to go make a trade. You're like, oh, yeah, you gave him a pay cut and then told him at the beginning of camp you wanted better play. And then you had to make a trade. Like, to me, it says this guy is not. I don't know. Well, he could be trying real hard and does not be, not have it anymore.
Starting point is 00:56:15 It's just that he's too much tread, too much wear. injury. There's also the fact that he kind of came out of nowhere to begin with. No one had Terrence Steele on their radar. And suddenly he was starting at right tackle for the Cowboys and had a multi-year extension. How'd they get him? He was undrafted. This fell so in their lap. Okay, that's amazing. And so then he had a good year, then a great year, and then he got hurt. And that's basically then since, you know, he's had a couple up and down years since then. So if you look at his career zoomed out, there's one anomaly, and it's not the last, you know, three years of play. So, but that's the thing, man.
Starting point is 00:57:00 It's an offensive line. No matter what you do. And that's why even though I think in my 40s, I'm now just happy that I do root for a team that values the offensive line. and at least you got that. Every year, you know, top half of the league, offensive line makes it tolerable to watch games. You're not just getting your whole shit wrecked right from jump every week. But at the end of the day,
Starting point is 00:57:27 sometimes it's like how many picks do you have to use on this to make it work? Because one of the guys is going to suck. And that's before anybody gets hurt. You know, they used to say it was a weakest link type thing. And I think that's somewhat true. You can also help. Chip, tight ends, whatever. But yeah, it's a problem.
Starting point is 00:57:49 But most teams have a problem at tackle. But he likes Guyton. They like Guyton. Or he wants to say it again. And then I slipped a little something in here for Blake. And there's a different look in his eye. And that's why I wanted to call him and make sure he understood that the decision to add a very talented player like Broderick is great for our room. It's going to be welcomed by the room.
Starting point is 00:58:14 the offensive line, but that he's done an interesting job, and I wanted to make sure that he knew very clearly that this does not affect him. You ready, Blake? Go ahead. Hi. Hey, coach, Patrick Falkendellas, Cowboys.com. Obviously, you preach and execute culture quite a bit around here. Obviously.
Starting point is 00:58:33 Can you talk about when it comes to Camden Brown, his journey from the ranks of the undrafted, to climb up and produce work ethic, his relationships in and on off the field. Can you just talk about his journeys at this point? Yeah, I mean, I'll be honest. You know, when the draft ends, you know, the coaches and scouts really go into
Starting point is 00:58:51 warp speed, trying to make decisions to sign your UDFAs. And I usually pour myself a shoddy. Actually, it's frozen margarita, sorry. It worse. I was feeling so good. And then we're going to end with fun. I was feeling so good. Usually we start with fun,
Starting point is 00:59:13 but there's a somber occasion. because we just cut a lot of people, and we talked about how that's a very emotional time. And, you know, Shadi doesn't like that, the cutting people. But we're going to, so we're going to end with fun. So right as he's walking out, he remembers something. All right. Thank you, guys. Hey, real quick, shout out to Brad Sham. You guys want to know why Brad's one of my favorites, if not my favorite, is he gives me gifts.
Starting point is 00:59:37 He gave me some pens. I'm a big pen guy. Bless you. But so I can be bought. I'm just saying I can be bought. If you guys got gifts, I can be bought. Pins. He's a big pen guy.
Starting point is 00:59:50 He's also a bless you guy. No doubt, right? Everyone had that on their bingo card. Pins and gifts. I'm a big pen guy. That's the least shocking thing ever, dude. Well, we got to remember. Let's bring pins to camp next year.
Starting point is 01:00:05 Ooh, that's a great idea. Will you write that down? Because I forgot already. I need a pen. I'm going to bring a hot dog. So the draft is over, and he's like, hey, plug in that Margaritaville over there. Uh, buddy, you ever been out there? That thing's plugged in.
Starting point is 01:00:18 Oh, it's already going? Yes. You see those cups they bring up there for the post-draft press conference? Those guys are half in the bag every time the draft round ends and they have to go up there. It's part of it. It's part of the deal. No sugar on the rim. I'm trying to cut back, you know.
Starting point is 01:00:38 Do you guys see Camden Brown's number? No. No. 80. Yeah. You like? He's spoken into existence. Oh, I love it.
Starting point is 01:00:48 We talked to him about it, and I don't think he's feeling it. I don't know that he picked it, but to me, he's a throwback type guy. He just seems like a 90s football player to me, just a dog. Who's 40? Ooh, that's a good question. Vaughn got it? Let's see what it says on this current chart. Yeah, they've got both of them on here so far.
Starting point is 01:01:13 Haven't settled yet. CBD. Something to keep an eye on. Let's do viewer mail. Unless you have any more sports. No. Do you want to slide in here? Maybe some sports-related mail.
Starting point is 01:01:32 Viewer mail, let's make it brought to us by Early Bird CBD. Load up. You can still get that THC stuff in Texas now. Will you be able to in the future? Do any of us know the future? We only know the present. And that is that the promo code DumbZone is active again. So if you've used it before, refresh.
Starting point is 01:01:58 DumbZone will get you 20% off at EarlyBird CBD.com. Two and a half milligrams of THC in each gummy, real THC. So if you have to take a drug test, no dice. But if you have your freedom, then go to EarlyBird CBD.com. Use promo code DumbZone and you'll get 20% off. Should we start drug testing our employees? Just to make sure. Make sure they're using drugs.
Starting point is 01:02:23 Yeah, hell yeah, bro. We love the THC. Got a couple emails on the DUBHL front. Do you guys know the circus was here last week or recently? My wife asked me about it. There are no animals now. I did hear that recently. What?
Starting point is 01:02:43 Yeah. They don't have any animals at the circus. I thought that was the circus. No. Well, it was. and a lot of times And they kept killing him and being mean to him All those Russian guys
Starting point is 01:02:55 Yeah Isn't that the only guy It's probably because I watch Secret Life of Pets a lot And there's a captive tiger But that feels like the The ever-present bad guy It's just a Russian guy at the circus
Starting point is 01:03:12 Like I feel like every guy who runs a circus Has a whip And they just They're just mean And I think there was a lot of truth to that. Actually, like a bar stool. You're holding a stool and a whip.
Starting point is 01:03:24 What's the stool for? Yeah. Tiger. But I like this. Robert says they replaced the animals with a Boston Dynamics robot dog. Hell yeah. No way. I say yes.
Starting point is 01:03:36 I say the circus being full of... That's incredible. It's like a drone show. Exactly. But with dogs. Exactly. You can beat them and stuff and nobody gets mad. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:46 I love it. Yeah, just wait. Wait. You got Clayton there. What do you mean? Just wait for what? Gun it down. I don't think there are going to be the whatever PETA equivalent is for robots. Yeah, well, they could suck it.
Starting point is 01:04:01 That is going, there's a hundred percent. That probably already exists, you know? Like for robot rights. Anyways, one of the hosts introduced himself as a content creator. Of course. Same. They did away with the BMX gauge. That I loved.
Starting point is 01:04:22 That I loved, man. What is that? It's like a rolling cage, a ball, and then there's guys in it that are riding BMX bikes and crossways with each other. They're sort of rolling the ball with their momentum. You never seen that before? Why do they do away with it?
Starting point is 01:04:39 It's got to be insanely dangerous. That's why we're there. I know. I know. The ASPCR was founded in 1999, a group that argues, the rights of non-human artificial intelligence. I use the hardest slurs.
Starting point is 01:04:55 What's their list? And let me know what words to use to trigger. It was created by Hawkeye. Hate crimes. I've got one from Saxon. Okay. Who says, do a quick Google search on when Dolly Parton first got breast augmentation.
Starting point is 01:05:10 You'll be stunned. Was she like 12? It was in 1967. Which my first thought was Pablo Picasso was alive whenever Dolly Parton got her first to improve job. Oh, it's just the date, not taking a look and that'll stun us. Did you? No, I'm asking you.
Starting point is 01:05:29 I didn't. I think it was the date. Okay. She was 22. Yeah, both of them just catching an era there. Her and early adopter, him living too long. Chaz with the W.H.O. His wife is an elementary school PE teacher.
Starting point is 01:05:43 They've done away with the regular whistle. They now have a handheld electronic whistle that has a button on it. Wait, in what? In P.E. This kind of died over COVID, didn't it? But they have a whistle now that just has buttons on it that, well, they make a whistle sound. But you can control the volume, I guess. If you don't want to yell, you don't want to get too loud.
Starting point is 01:06:12 I was whistling with your fingers going. I remember whatever grade I was in, we were walking home from football practice. So it was pretty young. Fifth grade or something, sixth grade. I remember a guy teaching me how to whistle with your fingers. Do you know how? You never done this? Don't you know what I'm talking about?
Starting point is 01:06:32 No. There was a guy just as we were walking home. He just taught me. Did you go home with it? Like how? He goes, you got to practice it a ton. And then your parents will be pissed later. And I was like, you're speaking to me.
Starting point is 01:06:46 Let's do it. So he just taught me the airflow and how to do it in the middle of the tongue and all this kind of stuff. then yeah. Okay. I can't do it one hand as well. It just felt like that was headed towards being a super traumatic memory. Did you get in his van? I'm walking home from school or from practice.
Starting point is 01:07:02 It wasn't a man. You said guy. Oh, well, I'm a guy. There was a guy. That felt, okay. I can't whistle. Can I still do it? I haven't done it in a while.
Starting point is 01:07:16 I think I've heard you do that to the dogs. That's when I know you're serious. Oh, that was good. Yeah. My dad could do it one-handed. Yeah, the one-handed is tough. Cool. Can't do it.
Starting point is 01:07:26 Nate from Denver with a movie trope. Bartenders always have a towel over their shoulder. What's that for? Not sure. It's more of a barback move. Yeah. Stu with a quick one, will there ever be homeless people in space? Well, that's a gummy thought.
Starting point is 01:07:46 Okay, well. It's a thought. Yeah, like in Elon's space thing someday. The other movie trope I have is Michael says, whenever you find yourself suddenly waking up in a mysterious hospital room alone, first thing you've got to do is yank a bunch of IVs right out of your arm.
Starting point is 01:08:09 Just yank them. Nurses love that. I bet that happens. It does. Does it? Yeah. Yep. Trying to go AMA?
Starting point is 01:08:18 Sure. Another movie trope, doing anything than getting so deep in thought that you overflow a glass, you keep walking past your destination, or burn your food. People forget what they were doing two seconds ago. Yeah, that is a good one.
Starting point is 01:08:31 That doesn't happen to me ever. No. This one, on digging a hole, Adrian says, I don't know if this was Border Patrol of the military, but my father said back in the 70s, when recruits would have to go to Fat Camp before actually starting trading, they were forced to spend all day digging holes.
Starting point is 01:08:51 You dig a giant hole, the instructor would come over, flick his cigarette butt in it, and say, bury it. life used to suck movie trope the action character that is shooting two identical handguns simultaneously that does not nobody doesn't yeah i don't think so i don't think so all right i have a couple that have video
Starting point is 01:09:18 and then that video will also have audio uh but the pictures will go before the video on this one clayton this is from uh letty remember letty with the bang bus every year we do a show from his His tailgate location at Rangers' opening day, he's a big man. And he says, gentlemen, there's been a lot of cameo talk lately. I thought I would share this story with you. When our daughter was born, I decided I need to get healthy for a lot of reasons to be there for her as long as possible.
Starting point is 01:09:54 So I lost 100 pounds over the next year. Now I realized to be a hero I need to go to rehab and have a quote disease. Thank you. But I digress. Now during the same time I was on a Twitter mission to remind Ray Lewis that he was a murderer daily. Okay. That's, you know, modern man. A few examples of tweets attached.
Starting point is 01:10:23 But it took Ray's people about two years before I was finally blocked. So Ray Lewis would tweet something like, we must wake up, the time is now, uh, oh wait. Yeah, wake up, time is now, evil is now attacking our kids. Lord, please show us another way. Okay, so that's Ray Lewis's tweet. He says that. Letty jumps on and says,
Starting point is 01:10:48 uh, so true we must protect the kids. Now grown men outside clubs, stab them and throw away the coat. Yeah, a distinction. Uh, what was another one? Ray Lewis, can you explain to so-and-so how what Ray Rice did is way different than your situation other than his victim is alive? Anyway, so he's trolling Ray Lewis. Every day, apparently. Right.
Starting point is 01:11:19 For years. And then he got blocked. So I wonder how often this happens. Anyway, he goes, so in 2020, I got this gift from the bank. bus lacrosse bro, Ledytes, who paid for a Ray Lewis cameo. They told him I was a hero. They told him I wore his number, which I did not. They told him I used his workout.
Starting point is 01:11:44 No idea if he did. Basically, I just ate broccoli for dinner every night. Respect. Anyway, I still have no idea what the F he's even talking about. So here's the Ray Lewis cameo that this guy who hates Ray Lewis, his buddies got him this cameo from Ray Lewis. Now, Letty Foster, what are you trying to do? Make me get emotional?
Starting point is 01:12:09 Oh, my goodness. This is booked by your buddies from college, man, North Texas. All right, we have technical difficulties on that. So we'll hope that the next one can play. So that's Ray Lewis. It's paused. We can't do it. It's just the video's corrupt or something.
Starting point is 01:12:32 It just won't play. He killed it. Ray Lewis killed the video. I appreciate the era of cameo bits. I'm glad we're past it. You know, it's like Tiger King. Yeah. Glad it happened.
Starting point is 01:12:51 Again, probably ball sacked, but I saw a cameo itself was tweeting that Dejan Love had reached out to their platform. But, again, probably fake. The fake football player, Dan. Now, I got another cameo, though. Okay. I don't know why, but, you know, 690 scene.
Starting point is 01:13:10 You know, Sean Kernan from... Quite well. He sponsored Business Wednesday yesterday, and I got a haircut and an MRI. He's from 360 wealth management. He can help you manage your funds. Which he does for me. Anyway, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:13:26 I guess it's because we were having cameo talk. But he sent me this cameo. Let's see if this one is corrupt and won't work. But I hope it will. And Sean asked me to come and give you some tips and help you out a little bit. here trying to start a little podcast, but really the best advice I can give you is not necessarily like how to grab the spotlight, I don't guess, because I didn't intentionally do that.
Starting point is 01:13:51 I don't guess, but I wish I could go back to my podcast and have more fun with it and not worry about what other people think or how embarrassing something is after you fucking post it and, you know, just be yourself and have so much fucking fun. Don't overthink it too much because I regret them. not. As we speak, I'm sitting here and I don't do it anymore, if you can't tell. But I wish I wouldn't have cared what other people thought about it, and I enjoyed it more, because I really did like doing it, but I don't know.
Starting point is 01:14:23 It just, the people around you, too, the ones that help you do it, that matters a lot, too. Don't put anyone in your circle that just makes you miserable. And if that's the case, don't be a pushover like I was. And give them the fucking boot, realistically. If they're making it miserable for you to a point where you hate it, give them the fucking boot. It's your show. You have so much fun with it.
Starting point is 01:14:44 Do it the way you want to be done. And I'll also hear you know about the football sports team. So, get on there and let them know what the fuck is up. If you're that and all to do about something else. I've had enough of Haley Welch. So there's... I think she's amazing.
Starting point is 01:14:58 So that's where she is. Every morning before I come in here. Amazing at what? I think she's a real person. I like her, I like her vibe. You could tell that she was, you know, I like people like that. She could tell she's...
Starting point is 01:15:12 The machine chewed her up and spit her out. Didn't they? Yeah, I mean, I'm not saying none of that was her fault. Obviously, she got greedy, you know? But I think she's got something. And that something is just being a real person? Yeah, I think a lot of the people that end up famous now, clearly, like these slap dick fucks from good, good golf, I'm having shoved down my throat. These are just church kids from Frisco.
Starting point is 01:15:37 These are non-playable characters. Get the fuck out of my culture. This lady's got sauce. See, he loves another potty mouth. This is not a potty mouth. This is how this woman talks how the people I know talk. That's what I'm saying. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:51 That's what I'm saying. She's real. I like when someone like that gets famous. I guess your point is just she's the opposite of Dude Perfect, but I don't think she has any sort of juice. She's just a normal person from Tennessee. Definitely. I mean, listen. And her advice for Dan was just half.
Starting point is 01:16:07 fun. There you go. Well, I think her advice was great. She's helping the podcast. We all need to just come in each day thinking, I'm the one. I wonder what that cost, Sean. Do you think 50? I hope not too much more than that. But, you know, good for her. She looks like she's doing well. I thought she was only fans. No.
Starting point is 01:16:30 Bad Barbie, not fake. I mean, the account, she may be mostly at this point, but. She's making millions. Letty also had a follow up on Denton Spider-Man. The guy that got bit by snakes. Read that story the other day that there was a guy who became famous for going to children's hospitals dressed as Spider-Man. And then it was in the hospital because he got bit by a bunch of snakes. Letty said he was a personal trainer of this guy.
Starting point is 01:16:59 Of course. During COVID, he couldn't do anything. He was in decent shape so he would go to the square and be Spider-Man to try to cheer people up during lockdown. people would drive their kids by it was a cool story it evolved into hospital visits and parties people donated money he ended up wrapping his truck did a lot of free stuff but the birthday parties were for pay but then he started this ranch earlier this year and started posting tons of vids of him fucking with snakes offered relocation services for snakes he was bit three times by a huge water moccasin and i find it strange that he hasn't said how it seems to me he's he might have been in a little over his skis. Snake's not an area where you can kind of wing it. Yeah. You need a little expertise.
Starting point is 01:17:50 Sure. I got two more. One from Seen, who takes offense at Dan's Jim Tomey hate. Jim Tomey hit 337 home runs with the Indians, 275 with other teams. He's saying he did hit the bulk of his home runs with your tribe. I still don't think you get a statue. That's a 60% at best. You shouldn't get a statue at that stadium.
Starting point is 01:18:14 Okay, you've been denied, seen. Yeah, this is Cleveland Dan. He experienced it. The other one is from Drew. It requires a picture in there, Clayton. He says, don't know if this counts as a 9-11 memorial, but I saw this in Carolina Beach, North Carolina a few weeks back. I've been going there for the past four years, never noticed it.
Starting point is 01:18:33 What we have here is an outlet mall of some sorts with a sign that tells you everything in that strip center. Yeah. One being shipwreck neon mini golf. Right. Fairwind's insurance. Sure. The one at the top is just an American flag and it says, Never Forget 9-11.
Starting point is 01:18:51 So we have a little extra advertising space here. Right. Don't let it go unused. Make sure nobody's thinking about forgetting. Like, why doesn't that say the dumbzone.com? Just dumbzone.com right there. Sure. But people in North Carolina are forgetting, I guess.
Starting point is 01:19:07 He also says, P.S., my wife just got some heppolas, the sun just shines a little bit brighter now. Way to go. We have Sarah Heppel on our show today. We do. And do they allow kittens in the building? Where do they go? I don't know. I know poppy's here. I have one more.
Starting point is 01:19:28 Do you want me to end it all? Sure. Whoa. After we go to break. So please respect my anonymity on this one. Interested. Dear little vice admiral in the boat And this is the subject line is first down Okay
Starting point is 01:19:48 I stumbled upon the mother of all first down today And in the most unlikely of places But I'm generally a law-abiding citizen But my one vice is that I will occasionally Visit the variety of massage therapist That Deshawn Watson once mistakenly thought he was visiting Interesting
Starting point is 01:20:11 So the happy ending type massage place. Yep. I believe it's that, which we're talking about. After the massage was over, the therapist handed me a piece of paper while ushering me to the front door. When I got to the car, I was able to fully inspect it. And he gave us a picture of it. I don't have it up, but he said, this is an authentic, quote, Buy Nine Sessions Get the Tenth Free Stamp Card.
Starting point is 01:20:38 in my post-massage clarity I was revolted by the concept of coming back to that establishment nine more times in order to cash it in but I also sadly can't find it within myself to throw it away respectfully and anonymous day two DF so they actually have punch cards at the as it were at the happy ending massage place trying to get you to get you to get you to
Starting point is 01:21:08 go back. I think that makes all the sense in the world. It's like an Andy's ice cream cone or something. Think of how great the 10th one's going to be. Yeah, maybe you could roll them over into extra credits. They'd be giving that much effort. They'll be like, oh, this is free. I feel like they're going to say he's earned it.
Starting point is 01:21:26 I feel like they give Max effort every time because they don't want to be doing it. You think they're ever like, oh, this one will probably, I'll probably take my time here. This is. No, if they were with you, they'd want to, dude. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. You're like at home practicing trying to last longer. I mean, oh, no.
Starting point is 01:21:45 It's disgusting. So I would not do the Lego thing. Yeah. By myself. But zoo, I might consider it. I might consider it. Yeah, no. No?
Starting point is 01:22:00 Nope. I'm not that big of a fan of seeing animals in captivity anyway. Just the general. Makes me a little sad. Don't you feel like it's gotten better, though? It's definitely gotten better, but it's not gotten better enough to where you're, like, comfortable with it? Probably better, yeah. I mean, when we were kids.
Starting point is 01:22:22 In fact, I might let these dogs just go today. Yeah. Be free. Not in the wild where you belong. They'd be dead in an hour. I know. So aren't they kind of helping the animals? Give them food and stuff and...
Starting point is 01:22:36 Yeah, I guess. But if they would have kept them on the Serengeti or whatever they got them. They could be murdered by anything. That's true. Very true. Yeah, you're right. So I guess what was the guy's name in Cleveland? Harambe.
Starting point is 01:22:51 That's Cincinnati. The guy that kept the girls in his basement. Ariel Castro. Was he just kind of helping them? I mean, they could have been... Think of all the terrible things that could have happened to them outside in the real world. Yeah, they did have a nice place of shelter, didn't they? You're listening to The Dumb Zone.
Starting point is 01:23:19 A reminder that tomorrow, I suppose providing you're listening to this on Thursday, the 3rd of September, then tomorrow will be at Fairleason Allen, from 1130 to 230. Actually, let's go 1130 to question mark, man. Who knows? Might just hang out. I got to go. No one thought you were going to hang out.
Starting point is 01:23:44 I'm the guy that will hang out with you on the show. At least the guy that says that on the air. And then once we... I have a monthly meet up with the subbies. I will come to your birthday party. Learning a lot about the difference between on and off air, boy. He's so different, folks. Anyway, yeah, we'll be at Fairleason Allen tomorrow.
Starting point is 01:24:07 They're giving away like a big screen TV. Do you even have to say that? I don't know. I almost think it would be funny if somebody... Yeah, I think that'd be funnier. Why don't we do that sometime? Why not? We're giving away a TV.
Starting point is 01:24:17 GSE. And it's just the teen-inch. A VHS in the bottom of it. Anyway, it's been a long time since we've had this next guest on our program. You may know her from the New York Times best-selling list. You may know her from the Dallas Morning News. Or you may know her from constant fights with the Dallas. thumbs out. She's Sarah Heppela. All right.
Starting point is 01:24:47 Hi, guys. Anytime feminist luminary dies, we have Sarah in. I'm the Dallas go-to girl for feminist luminaries. That's right. R.I.P. Gloria Steinem. Wow. See it at the crossroads. Dead at 92. Good long life. She wrote something called If Men Could Mestrate,
Starting point is 01:25:19 which I read when I was in college and I took a course called Women's Studies. Did you really? That's right. Was it to get to understand women better so that you'd be better at seducing them? Probably. I also took like ballroom dancing thinking with a buddy of mine
Starting point is 01:25:37 we're like, we'll meet chicks, bro. He took African-American studies just to be able to use the world. They were like, that's not how this works. It's great. I have the card. That probably was pretty early in like cultural critical studies, though. You were at the fleeting edge, I feel like. And then they brought a lesbian in like an animal.
Starting point is 01:25:58 They brought a lady. Do you remember this? Yeah. I've told you that, huh? That's such a funny story, man. Look at her, folks. A guest to speak to the class. What year?
Starting point is 01:26:08 Probably 91. Perfect. PCU- It's just coming out of their cages. And they're like, well, this is a lesbian. And so she's a girl. And now I got a, I'm bricked up, right? I'm fired up.
Starting point is 01:26:22 No, but it's a girl. And they're like, yeah, she, and so she just talked about what is it like? She was just a student. She was a student on campus, and she's like, she would talk about, that's the first I ever heard of Gaydar. She'd be like, yeah, actually, there's a lot of us on campus. And we're like, whoa. She was like, a lot of us are on the basketball team, and you were like, no way. Teaming with them.
Starting point is 01:26:48 Yeah, so anyway, she told us, yeah, she's just like, yeah, when you're walking on campus, I'll kind of see, and she'll see, we give each other knowing nod and all that kind of stuff. And I was like, all right, this is great. Who's on top? But yeah, they also had us read this thing called If Men Could Men Can Mestrate. And it's pretty, is it pretty popular? Is that a famous thing she ever wrote? No, it did not.
Starting point is 01:27:09 You know, she's not really known as a. a writer, she's more known as a public figurehead. She became the public face of the feminist movement. It wasn't really her choice. Betty Friedan, the author of the feminine mystique, is arguably the mother of second wave feminism because she wrote the book, which I'm sure you guys have heard of, the feminine mystique. Sure. Okay. So that's really the original text of the second wave feminism, but Betty Friedan was not, did not look like Gloria Steinem. Let me say it that way. Okay, she wasn't attractive enough to help push the cause. Gloria Steinem was so beautiful. and she really was so good with men.
Starting point is 01:27:45 And I think that's one of, you know, she had written that really great story about going undercover as a Playboy Bunny for, I believe it was for New York Magazine. Oh. So she went undercover as a Playboy Bunny and then revealed sort of all the demeaning things you have to do because at the time it was seen as very high status
Starting point is 01:28:02 to be a Playboy Bunny. She talks about how there's a rule book and you have to like, you know, you get your body inspected and stuff like that's a great, it's actually a great story. She was a magazine writer. And then she kind of gets inserted, much to Betty Friedan's resentment. She gets thrust into the spotlight as the face of the feminist movement.
Starting point is 01:28:22 Look at them. They'd be their own people. They can't even get on the same page. 100%. 100%. They get upset with each other because the other ones... One of my favorite quotes about feminism by a second-wave feminist is sisterhood kills, mostly other sisters.
Starting point is 01:28:38 So that gives you a sense of some of... the interneesign battles of the second wave feminist movement. Gloria Steinem always stayed above the fray that's made her a very beloved figure, but also kind of a non-intellectual figure. She doesn't really take a stand. She's your Switzerland. Yeah. And, you know, she's a very eloquent woman, beautiful woman.
Starting point is 01:29:02 She famously said a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle, later made popular by Bono in a U-2 song. Do you know that song, Jake? You're barking up the wrong tree. Did they make you listen to that on your iPod? And it's interesting that you bring up U-2 because I feel like somehow you-two and Greece remind me of one another and that, boy, just missed it.
Starting point is 01:29:30 Just missed it. Didn't have this one at all as a kid. So I don't even know how we ended up here, but Sarah asked me if she could come on to, She happens to have a book coming out. Yes. I've never had an advanced copy of a book. It's called a galley.
Starting point is 01:29:48 I guess I, what does that mean? It means that it's a, it's got typos in it. Oh, wow, collectors. Yeah. And it's a non-final, like the first line actually has changed. Wow. Yeah, because I take this broadside, excuse me, I take this broadside at classical music.
Starting point is 01:30:08 and it was around the time that Timothy Shalmay got dragged. And I was like, do I need this? Do I need this in my first sentence? That's part of the process. You've got to read the wins and make sure. I just thought it's not that funny and I could do better. So the first line has changed and there's some very obvious. There's like an extra paragraph somewhere and some typos and stuff.
Starting point is 01:30:33 But it is kind of a collector's item. Somebody bought one on the black market because they put it on Twitter, and they were like, so excited to get this. And I was like, that's illegal, but that's fine. I wonder what half-priced books would give me for this today. Nothing. I'll certainly find out within the half hour of leaving this show. You can't.
Starting point is 01:30:53 I inscribed that to you. That's why it'll be even worth more. She wrote, to Dan, you're my favorite. Don't tell Jake. That's not fair. Jake, do you want to read your inscription? No, I'll be too heartbroken. No, why don't you read it now?
Starting point is 01:31:11 Certainly it's the exact same thing. It in fact is the exact same thing. Dan's my favorite. You're my favorite. Don't tell Jake. But she asked, hey, that's what my sticker says. Do you guys have any... You're my favorite. Don't tell Dan and Jake.
Starting point is 01:31:26 That's not what it says. What does it say? Please give to Angelou? Yeah, we broke up. Well, you need to find him because he needs that sticker. Do you not know how that ended? No, I know how it ended. Okay, good. I was just making an old joke.
Starting point is 01:31:40 I'm just making sure you were aware that the male loneliness epidemic struck. Wait, what? Wait, wait, wait, wait. What? Did you hear how, like, why it really ended? No. He thought I was giving him money so that he would sleep with me. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:31:59 What the, no, he didn't. And he waited, like, 10, 11 months before he said anything, he was like, are you going to make a move or what's the deal here, bro? Well, it is odd because right after he did. indicate, absolutely I would not sleep with you. Blake stopped giving him money. So, I'm not sure who's in the right here. He got really mad at me. Did you or did you not stop giving him money right after that? Yeah. It all happens so fast. I rest my case. He invited me to his birthday party with his other benefactor, Grayson, I think was his name. He has another benefactor? All right, look. I know. I know. We got to get into some other stuff. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. We have a book to plug. And then you
Starting point is 01:32:35 are dressed as a pink lady? Yes. From the movie Greece. Correct. Why? Because I was watching the 1978 musical Greece and it occurred to me that there's a certain swat, like it was such a blueprint, like an absolute like, it dominated my childhood. It came out in 1978 so I'm four years old.
Starting point is 01:32:56 It's the first musical I ever see. I had the double vinyl album. It was a fold out. I was in the musical in my senior year. I know, I swear to God, I could be in late state. dementia and I would know that every single word to we go together. Like Ramalama dinga, Ramma, wait, now I'm going to forget it.
Starting point is 01:33:12 I forgot it. Ramma lamma ding-da-ding-da-dong. And I have noticed with some younger men that they don't even know this musical at all. So I texted Jake and I said, do you like the musical Greece? And he said, actually, that's funny you mention that because Dan and Blake really like it. and I hate it. And so I just said, can I come on and debate you?
Starting point is 01:33:40 Debate. Okay, I don't think I'd ever actually watch this movie in full until this week. And I think it's just broadly because this movie is why I hate movies like this. Musical right out of the gate. Just a tough sell. Okay.
Starting point is 01:33:59 Just a tough sell. I like movies to feel like life. You know, you want a talk show to kind of feel like you're just hanging out. If you were just hanging out and then your friend started singing, you'd, whoa, that's a... So, Jake, you don't like John Wick or any action movies or anything like that, superhero movies. Those are all off the table for you. That is a good counter. It's not like they all have to be depictions of storming Normandy.
Starting point is 01:34:21 I suspend belief or disbelief a lot, but the... Like blowing up an asteroid? First of all, that plan sounds scientifically. I was explaining the plot of Armageddon to my daughter the other night. She was like, no, no, there's no way. Why would they? But I just, I think that's what it is right out of the gate. I think I thought this movie for a long time was made in the 50s.
Starting point is 01:34:50 Sure. Well, I mean, it's set in the 50s. Right. And it's not a movie, right? It's a play. It's originally a stage musical. Right. That became a movie.
Starting point is 01:35:01 Right. So if you're taking a stage musical, that's the whole point. So you've got to think of it that this is a play. Which I would never be in. I would never, you know, there's a zero percent chance I would ever be it. You know, it's singing. Another interesting thing to consider is that it is a movie that is nostalgic about the 50s. It was in that Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, all that stuff was going on.
Starting point is 01:35:24 Fonzie was originally offered the role that Danny Zucco, that John Travolta got. So Henry Winkler was offered Danny. Really? Yes. That's surprising to me. he didn't he turned it down because he didn't want to be typecast in that kind of role so so it's a movie with nostalgia about the 50s that comes out during the white hot center of the sexual revolution 78 and the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders are like break huge in this year and this is when you know like deep all the
Starting point is 01:35:56 porno chic is going on so it's a movie that is winking and nodding at the sexual revolution with a lot of Randy racy lines. So horny. So horny. This movie is so horny. Everything is wet. And we're always just, she's getting wet and she's getting damp and she's creaming. And I'm like, dude, every song is like.
Starting point is 01:36:15 Creaming. Greased lightning, I mean, I didn't know. I knew all the lyrics to this except for a few. And one of them I didn't know was she's a real pussy wagon. Yeah. What song is that in? Greased lightning. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 01:36:29 Yeah, the cream line always stood out once you, uh, got older and understood what things meant. Yeah. I mean, I knew every line, but I didn't know what it meant. You know, it's like when you see little kids doing like gangster rap and you're like, do they get that? And it's like, no. Okay, so this is right after Saturday Night Fever, too.
Starting point is 01:36:47 Correct. So that's, they couldn't have got a bigger star. So John Travolta gets cast in this. Kinniki played this role on Broadway. So Jeff Conaway, later known from Taxi. He played... And later known from like celebrity rehab, right? Correct.
Starting point is 01:37:01 Wasn't he huge in that? So he originally played Danny Zucco on Broadway. But then John Travolta, who had played Doody. Dude, we should do a bit like that. Let's do like D-List Celebrity Rehab. You can get back into it. Like we do all the whole thing. Get Sarah in there.
Starting point is 01:37:16 Dude, it was D-List when they did it the first time. How much more? Okay. I mean, I don't know. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Go ahead. No, no, no.
Starting point is 01:37:24 It's okay. It's okay. But my point is that Kinnicki steps aside, or I should say, Jeff Connoeys steps aside, let's John Travolta take the lead because he's just done Saturday Night Fever, which is the biggest movie. I mean, the biggest selling soundtrack of 77 and 78 is Saturday Night Fever. The second biggest selling album of 78 is the Greece soundtrack, which was the top grossing movie of that year. I guess, okay, so that does make sense to me because when I'm watching this, I'm like, listen, if I wanted to listen to music, I'd listen to music.
Starting point is 01:37:55 But people were listening to this music. Yeah. This was actually, it's like when we talk about TV shows that had like charting theme songs. Yeah. That's just a very foreign concept, right? You just don't really get that anymore. Boy, what a run outside of like Pixar. Three out of four movies, Saturday Night Fever, Greece, and Urban Cowboy.
Starting point is 01:38:15 What do you, what else could he do? The thing about Travolta in this movie is that he's the only believable one because he's the only one that's not 40. Yes. Every guy who's supposed to be. He's 23. He's 23. And stalker chaining. So that's the closest to a high school age that we're going to get?
Starting point is 01:38:32 Correct. And stalker chaining is 35. Dude, and looks like 35-year-olds looked back then, which is 50 now. Like, she's too old to get pregnant, but she's the one that gets pregnant in high school. It's jarring. I don't understand. And I don't know when we shifted that culturally to where, I mean, maybe they couldn't use high school kids back then. Because any time they put a kid near a Hollywood set, someone would have sex with them.
Starting point is 01:38:56 Yeah, you're of the Disney. so you grow up with these shows like Hannah Montana that are actually starring people that age. But you have to remember that they were coming from the stage tradition. You know, where older 30, it's not unusual for a 35 year old to play a high school student on Broadway because the rigor and the talent that you need for that role is such. And plus you need to be out of school in order to do the rehearsals and stuff like that. We didn't have twins yet. We didn't have twins yet.
Starting point is 01:39:24 That's correct. They couldn't just, you know, abuse one while the other one was sitting back. and then trade them out when the one started to cry. So, what a good bit. 28, Olivia Newton-John is 28 when she gets cast. She doesn't think she's going to get cast. They originally wanted Marie Osmond, and Marie Osmond took the role, but then she learned about the slut part.
Starting point is 01:39:47 What, does she had to be a slut at the end? Yes. And it went against her Mormon religious upbringing. I didn't know that people were like smoking weed and drinking in the 50s like this. Oh, yeah, very much. You've seen Animal House. Was there weed?
Starting point is 01:40:03 Well, I don't recall weed in this movie. Because there's a lady sleepover and they're smoking something they're passing and they say, yo, you don't inhale your first time. That's a cigarette. Whoever talks about inhaling with a cigarette? In 1954. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:40:17 Yeah. No, they're smoking. But while they're smoking, I can promise you, my mom never smoked cigarettes. That's the one. That's the one. Lume large, right? I never smoked a cigarette. They're piercing their ears, though.
Starting point is 01:40:31 Yeah. It's a sleepover. That is our payoff for losing our picks with friends. We get to do it. We get to do it. I have a professional, though, right? Right. But my wife was telling me this morning,
Starting point is 01:40:42 yeah, I had like a babysitter do it to me once. Wait, what? You'd had a baby. Like trying to pierce my ear. A boy or a girl? Girl. A boy? Where's there ever a boy babysitter?
Starting point is 01:40:52 I had a boy babysitter. And he was abusive to my brother. and so we never used him again. But we had one. Checks out. Yeah. I'm just learning that piercing your ears is a bigger operation than my wife was like, you've got to take care of that for the first couple weeks.
Starting point is 01:41:09 Oh, yeah, it can get easily infected. I don't remember any of other payoffs coming with that, Dan. But in any case, it's a big deal. They're smoking cigarettes here and piercing ears and drinking. You know what there aren't in this movie is any black people? That's decidedly. like this is the 70s, we're like, what if we kind of made a movie about when things were very 50s?
Starting point is 01:41:31 I'm sorry, you wanted various similitude. Schools are segregated in the 50s, and you know this. No, I know. I just, it's jarring to me to see a culture where all the cool people are white. Yes. Like, I didn't really grow up at a time. It's weird, you know? And it's also the football guys are not the cool guys.
Starting point is 01:41:51 That was also not something that made it through to at least when I was in high school. It was like, who are these? These guys are fucking burnouts. Let me tell you who Danny would have been by 2003. On a list because he would have been a projected school shooter. Like, we didn't have those type of guys. Well, this comes out of the greasers, you know, like the outsiders and West Side Story and stuff. That's why they called it Greece because they were riffing on the idea of the greasers,
Starting point is 01:42:21 which were the cool guys in school that were, they were in a gang. What are they called, Jake? What's the gang called? The outsiders? No. No, the, I'm just saying the movie. Yeah, there you go. There you go.
Starting point is 01:42:33 I couldn't remember which was which side. But yes, they've got jackets, you know. Yeah. And then the girls have their own unofficial group. The pink ladies. Let's go get them, girls. I don't know why everyone talks like that either. Was that a thing we were doing?
Starting point is 01:42:52 I think I might have a little. Talking like this. Is this it? Blake? Let me see if this is. I feel like when you're putting out media about the 50s back then, it's all fake, right? Or it's, there's some based in reality, but a lot of it is like leave it to beaver type stuff. Like that's fake?
Starting point is 01:43:08 Did you like Happy Days at all? Have you ever seen it? I have and I don't. But I don't, I'm not trying to be a stick in the mud. I just, it just fucking all this stuff just, it feels fake to me. It feels like from a time when entertainment was just so fake. Right. Not like the Superman movies and the Avatar and Odyssey.
Starting point is 01:43:25 and stuff like that. Now, I will defend myself and say, generally, I'm not into, the less real something feels, the less into it. Well, don't you like Travolta's more realistic roles like Face Off? Yeah, exactly. Yeah. A criminal justice mishap. That could actually happen.
Starting point is 01:43:43 Anybody. Could happen to anybody. But, yeah, it just feels very theatrical, all of it. And I guess that's what it is. There's also not really a plot. We could probably address that. Do you like what are we doing? What's the plot?
Starting point is 01:43:55 We're getting to a car race, but the car race we didn't really even know about until halfway through the movie. And then the guy who's going to race the car, well, he hit his head on our car doors. Now there's other guy, now he's got to race the car. What was the point? I'm sorry, there's a very important narrative. That's the two that the boy and girl are going to get together. That's right. This is a romantic comedy, Jake.
Starting point is 01:44:15 The boy, what is the first scene we see? Boy and girl meet and fall in love. On the beach. On the beach, yeah. Summer 11. Next scene, boy and boy. loses girl. There you go, Blake. Blake's singing it over there. And also, I don't find it all that believable that boy would have, what is he embarrassed? He's getting pussy. Like, she shows up and he's all
Starting point is 01:44:35 like, oh, I don't even notice. Certainly that's the, uh, whatever, dude, he's the hottest woman here. Unreal point. But it was funny, it is funny when that first happens because he's like, Sandy, Sandy, and he's all excited. And then his boys and he's like, but the posture that he goes, yeah. Everything he does. I don't know. Yeah. His entire after. Oh, yeah, it was okay when we saw each other in the summer. So. What's the biggest of one else?
Starting point is 01:45:00 Why are you acting like this? But it's an overt, it's an overt depiction of what actually does happen, right? So this is. Guys got to act a little cool when you're around your boys and then you'll act like a total puss when you're with her a lot. Like, I'm sorry, honey. That was just a, we still do it. And Summer Levin lays all this out.
Starting point is 01:45:21 So Summer Nights is actually the name of it. Summer Nights is the, the. classic song that kind of sets up the whole narrative and it's a he said she said he's telling you about the summer and they got it on and it was crazy and she telling the story and he was so sweet and he held her hand they're both explaining the traps that they're stuck in in the 50s he's stuck in the masculine tough guy mode where everything has to be like yo she was great and she is in the goody two shoes mode where she's like we did nothing and of course the truth is somewhere in the middle this movie is going to trace an arc to the place where they can find each other in the middle.
Starting point is 01:45:58 You just, it's just too deep for you. Yeah, I think that's what it is. Thank you, Dan. I think that's what it is. Who's the guy who, is that, not Donnie Osmond, but who's the guy who showed up in all white, staying in school? Where the hell did that guy come from? Frankie Valley, Frankie Valley is a very popular, pre-British invasion.
Starting point is 01:46:20 So they first offered that role to Elvis Press. and then something happened. He's dead. He died. So he could not take that role and they gave it to Frankie Valley who also sings the theme song. Okay. We've got a news anchor who's there to judge the dance competition at the high school and he wants to fuck everything that moves, including the students. Realistic. Realistic.
Starting point is 01:46:45 It's probably realistic. Realistic, Jake. Give me a break. It's probably realistic. Okay. Let me ask you some questions. Who is the hottest girl? in this movie. Which is the one that got pregnant, to me. Interesting, Rizzo.
Starting point is 01:46:59 I thought it's Sandy. It's definitely sandy. It's not Marty. See, I think Marty's the hottest girl. The one that flirts with the... No, she flirts with the... Oh, with the guy, yeah, yeah. She's attractive lady.
Starting point is 01:47:14 Marty Maraschino. The old newscaster. Yeah, she's very hot. Maybe... Or dance show. This might have swayed. me on Rizzo a little bit. I do have a little bit of audio.
Starting point is 01:47:26 She obviously will have sex. That's why you thought she's hot. Hey, what are you going to? Okay. So what you guys think is is a gang bang? You wish. I didn't know we were doing that. I didn't know it would be a joke where a lady walks up to a group of eight guys and she's
Starting point is 01:47:41 like, what is this? A gang bang? Well, Rizzo is a baddie. You know, Rizzo is your classic tough cookie character. And her character arc is going. going to go into being vulnerable enough to letting herself be loved, which climaxes with the classic song, there are worse things I could do,
Starting point is 01:48:01 where she talks about how hard it is to be somebody that has to keep all that on the inside. Here's a casual bit of racism. Personally, I'm getting rather ashamed. Hey, what's that? From Bobby in Korea. There's a photo of a guy. You go with a Korean?
Starting point is 01:48:21 Dummy's a Marine. Don't be worried. It's just one of our devil dogs. I just want to let you know. I was in the stage musical and it's originally you go in with a jab. I figured somebody had done some work. Korean felt respectful for 1978, to be honest with you. Wow.
Starting point is 01:48:44 I'm surprised they bailed from the other line. Yeah. Well, the World War II was very far away. in 1978 and the Korean War was closer. So it was more realistic for her in the 50s to be dating somebody from the Korean War. Ah, okay. They would have been familiar with the timestamps, right?
Starting point is 01:49:03 That Marty's not going to be dating somebody from the World War II. I just meant based on popular culture, at least in my family. Sure. I always told you my uncle. Yeah. Was not happy if you would drive up in a Japanese car.
Starting point is 01:49:16 Oh, God, yeah. Like during... Oh. While everybody's watching TV or during dinner or something, my uncle would go outside, literally take a box of like rice errone or something. He'd pour the rice out on the ground next to the car by the gas tank. And then when we'd be leaving and he's saying goodbye, he's like, oh, it looks like your rice burner is leaking. Like he's, I'm.
Starting point is 01:49:39 Oh, my God. Six years old going, what? I don't get it. I don't understand. That explains so much about you. Yeah. What's your favorite song in this musical? You know what?
Starting point is 01:49:53 They were all on times two speed because I would press fast. Jacob. And fast as fast and fast as I can. Let me tell you, to me, dancing is a lot like video games. If you want to do it, I like it, but I don't want to watch other people do it. Fascinating. I like it. Does it make you feel embarrassed?
Starting point is 01:50:12 No, it doesn't. I really, see, we know each other fairly well, but I'm a guy. the audience will clock me. I will dance. I'm a dance guy. I have no problem with that. Alcohol or not. It's not a cringe thing.
Starting point is 01:50:26 It's just like, God, this guy, and it's five minutes long. Who wrote the song, Grease? You guessed it. One of the Gibbs. Barry Gibb. Wow. I did not know that. And Peter Frampton played on it.
Starting point is 01:50:40 I can't take all the singing just has a lot of vibrato. It's just a lot of up and down. That, you're doing an imitation of the Born to Handjive in the dance competition. Hand jive's fun. That's such a great scene. So the one that Jake hates, which I get it. I mean, it's just, that's just like, that's like a, you know,
Starting point is 01:51:03 do you like Coke or not? Right, right, right, right. It's like, as you do or you don't. I find that scene so exhilarating. It completely confused me. I thought there were going to be so many more dance competitions in high school. I was so disappointed when there weren't. And John Travolta's dancing.
Starting point is 01:51:18 you guys is a fucking sexual act for me. Like watching that man move. It's very exciting. More men need to watch that and realize what that does to women. Because I think men are super uncomfortable dancing and I get it. But it is so sexy to see a man that feels at home in his body and can move because you know if he can dance, you know what else he can do? I have a good idea. Yeah, he, yeah.
Starting point is 01:51:46 Pay for insurance. He can pay. for insurance. Will you guys come to my dance party? I'm all about it. What are you saying? We used to go to a place in Fort Worth called Studio 80.
Starting point is 01:51:57 What is your dance party? Downtown Fort Worth is crazy. Like it's a fully 80 themed giant, giant place. I'm having... I'm having a private dance party at the new wild detectives. The wild detectives are opening up
Starting point is 01:52:09 a new location down the block and they're giving us the whole house for a party to be determined, but y'all are all invited if you'd like to come. And not you two gentlemen, because I don't know you well enough, but I want you to know that you're on the wait list. Okay.
Starting point is 01:52:27 Yeah. And it's going to be a fucking banger. I'm going to bring Kyler as my plus one. You don't get a plus one. Oh. Oh, because I can drag something out of there. No doubt. Be good.
Starting point is 01:52:39 Get some literati action. Yeah. But all I'm saying is like this is an open bar. This is a light bite situation. Should you be promoting that? to Jake? Like, don't you know who you? Are you Blake? I'm saying Blake is the guy going, hey, dude, have a beer. It's fine. Just one. I, for sure. And now you're like promoting, hey, Jake, come to my open bar.
Starting point is 01:52:59 First of all, I know Jake is strong enough. You just want someone else to fail so that you can feel. I've been plenty of open bars. I know. I've been watching him. He's so, he's gotten so strong. He's never going back because he now knows this different way. Dude, Winston Wolf. All right. She's Winston Wolf on you. Now you have to ask her. Why? Add the guy adds to the counter. There's a guy doing a counter. You know the Winston Wolf reference, of course, right?
Starting point is 01:53:23 We all do. No. So there's a reference that Dan makes five, six times a week. Okay, you guys. You guys don't know how busy I've been. I'm not talking to you about listening. I love you guys. This is about him.
Starting point is 01:53:36 Off air, on air, group text with strangers. Everybody at me. Winston Wolf. Yet, every time now that he has asked someone, do you know this? They don't. I can't help it if I'm so far above everyone else And I respect it. So you were saying, hey, it's Jake's strong, he's got this thing.
Starting point is 01:53:57 And Dan said, hey, Winston Wolf. All right, hold on. Is it in the drop box? I need to get this. I just want to say that if Dan ever texted me back, he might make that joke and then it would sink into my consciousness. Right. That's not happening. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:54:14 It's a problem for some people. You must learn to just accept it. I asked you to send nudes and you didn't. Okay. That's not for on the air. That was just between us. Okay, let's see what we got here. Will this...
Starting point is 01:54:30 This is from the film Pulp Fiction. Yeah, I don't know if this is the whole thing. Harvey Keitel's character. Fine job, gentlemen. Okay, so yeah, what they are doing is somebody was shot in the car. John Travolta is right there. We didn't even think about that. That was his comeback.
Starting point is 01:54:48 John Travolta's comeback after his come up was grease and whatnot. His comeback is Pulp Fiction. He had accidentally shot a guy in his car. The car is all bloody. They got to get it cleaned up. Winston Wolf comes over. He helps them get the car cleaned up. And they still got to get the car to the junkyard, though.
Starting point is 01:55:09 So here's Winston Wolf looking at the job they have done. having just cleaned the blood and the bones off of the car. Fine job, gentlemen. You may get out of this shit. I can't believe this is the same car. Well, let's not start sucking each other's d' quite yet. I didn't even know that was the beep version. Anyway, let's not start sucking each other's D's just yet.
Starting point is 01:55:33 We're not going to celebrate, but the implication is that we will suck each other's D pretty soon, so get excited. Yeah. Which I always do. But yeah, so people don't know the Winston Wolf. I just got to change everybody's perception one person at a time, which I will do. So Harvey Kytel's character is named Winston Wolf? Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 01:55:56 So that's a great character in Pulp Fiction. And if you had said Harvey Kytel in Pulp Fiction, I would have immediately known who you meant. But I don't. Now you know the reference. See, the book, you're at desucking point, I think. Right, like your past, the last like six or so months, if you're like, I think it's done. Yeah. He would have said, hey, Winston Wolf.
Starting point is 01:56:17 Yeah, don't get ahead of yourself. These everywhere. Yeah, it's time to beat my beep. Overall, A-plus, it's a great movie. What are you talking about? You hated it. No, I don't, I don't like it. I don't like it, but it's funny.
Starting point is 01:56:34 It's funny to watch people act like this. It feels very anachronistic. Like, there'll never be another movie. made. I think the fact that I think the tunes are good makes it better. It's such a good. Like it wouldn't be a good movie if there wasn't tunes. It'd be too ridiculous. Dan's exactly right. And as usual, now I'm just mad at you. Thank you. So it is a vehicle for the songs. And the loose narrative around it is flimsy. And so it doesn't surprise me you didn't like this movie since you fast forwarded through the best
Starting point is 01:57:06 parts. It's like me watching an action movie, fast forwarding through all the action scenes and then declaring the movie not very good. I would say the same about the movie Saturday Night Fever. There's certainly iconic dance scene, but it's a crap movie. It's terrible. It's very depressing. And I think people forget that. Somebody jumps off a bridge.
Starting point is 01:57:23 But the tunes are so awesome. There's a really funny part in this movie, Blake, where Troultta has decided he's going to give up on the street life and become an athlete. Yes. And he goes out to the basketball courts and he's never played, he has no concept of basketball. He picks up the ball, throws it at it. a guy. They're like, no, dribble it like this. He starts bouncing the ball.
Starting point is 01:57:44 My thing, yeah. I mean... No, I brought it up on the show. I watched it recently. He's playing baseball. And within three swings, he can just like knock a home run. Oppo. Just whatever he wants. Call a shot. Yeah. But that scene with the basketball really brings home what an absurd thing basketball is, right?
Starting point is 01:58:01 Because people start coming at him and his instinct, his human instinct, is to attack them. All he knows is to fight. Yeah, all he knows is to fight. I like when Jake and Dan do Danny Zucco impressions. Will you do more of them, please? Just do just a couple more. Please. Do a whole spot like that.
Starting point is 01:58:16 Really, I want to talk about game day men's health. Can you do it like Danny Zucco, though? Dot dumzone.com. I can tell you that the closest you're going to get to being Danny Zucco is going to be via testosterone replacement therapy. At one of 12 area at game day locations. Gameday.dumzone.com. Starting point is 01:58:40 I mean, peptides are everywhere. They're like the new smart foods. There you go. Well, they've got them for it. And you get 10% off at any of these game day men's health locations. I've tried a couple of them. And they're fantastic. Help you sleep better.
Starting point is 01:58:56 Help you recover from injury or exercise a little bit more effectively. If you're feeling down, just mood-wise, just pop in there, get your levels checked. That will come with a prostate cancer screening. They don't even finger you anymore. Nope. Oh, they don't. No. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 01:59:11 No. They use the whole forearm. No, unfortunately they don't. They can find that out with just a simple test. They just get the horse from Enum Claw. Also, if you go in for that test, it's free. Why is there a horse in here? It is a free test.
Starting point is 01:59:26 And just for going in, you will get entered into the drawing to win game day box seats at the den. That's right. watch one of the Cowboys streams with us. Why don't you come watch a game with us sometime? I would love to. It's catered by Connie Roso. Do you want to do it? Yeah. Yeah, they'll either bring their burger grill, they'll bring the pizza oven, and two people from Game Day will be at each game.

So please go there. Had a guy last week, tell us how he went up to the. the Plano location. So you don't have to report to us. Just go to them.
Starting point is 02:00:12 But we did have a guy kind of gave us an email about that. So gameday.dumzone.com. Go to any location and get the free test and then get in that drawing. And you might be in the den. And you might be on a show where Sarah is there. Wow. Could you imagine that? Wow.
Starting point is 02:00:30 You just lost half your audience. Can we slide into the next? news? Uh, yeah. Here's Jane with the dumb So news, news, news, news, news, news, news, news, news, news, news, news, news, news, news, news, news, news. This is one of the good things about never becoming an attorney. I feel like never becoming an attorney limits your exposure to the types of crimes that you're capable of committing.
Starting point is 02:01:01 Like, once you have a law degree, your chances of being involved in money laundering, Ponzi scheme, these things go through the roof. A 70-year-old... You know how to get around it? Yes. Exactly that. A 70-year-old dude from Grand Prairie and attorney arrested on federal charges.
Starting point is 02:01:17 He had about a million and a half-dollar Ponzi scheme. His game was property tax lien investors. So this one has a fun note in it where the court documents say that he had pressured one couple that he had taken a bunch of money from. and they were tied up in this that he had suggested that they take a little vacation to Mexico for a few years which is kind of a baller thing to say
Starting point is 02:01:49 and I don't know if I wanted on my list but I like the idea of just like telling somebody hey, a few years I think you should take a vacation for a few years this was right before the female in question was set to testify against him he showed up at her home unannounced warned her husband that the FBI was looking
Starting point is 02:02:11 forum and urge the couple to take a vacation suggesting Mexico. Do you think that guy stopped and, like, got a water on the way over there? Do you ever think about, oh, I got one? There's a documentary on Netflix right now called The Pastor's Wife. Oh, yeah, it's number one. I saw it, I saw it advertised. Okay. My wife watched it.
Starting point is 02:02:32 My wife is watching it right now, yeah. I watched the third one last night. I happened to be around. I'm not going to watch the whole thing, but she kind of got me up to speed. Fucking crazy. I mean, it's the same story. Blake and I feel like went to churches like this sometimes. I went to some small churches as a kid.
Starting point is 02:02:51 Occasionally, they were like a... What's the crazy thing about it? Well, there's a lot of, you know, pastors who have very small flocks that will follow, no matter what. They're never going to believe that the guy was this or that. And it's usually sexual. Like, he left his wife for a lady that he met when he was, when she was full. 14. And now she's 18 and they're married. And she was, or maybe 20, because she was married 18 to someone else. So his followers are still like on board with him now? Yeah. Move churches.
Starting point is 02:03:22 She's a sweet gal. Yeah. And now he's like on his third and she's now the pastor. This guy's still preaching. His spoiler alert, the wife in question is not living. I think it's actually called the death of the pastor's right. So it's not, it's front loaded. Yeah, they let you know. know. Okay. So, but on the way, there's, there's question as to whether or not she committed suicide. And a lot of thought is being put into the idea that basically we need to acknowledge something called murder by suicide. That her husband, because there's some gnarly stuff that he was making her do. Narnly. Like, and he was drugging her. That's a big part of the argument here, like that he, He was forcing this woman into all kinds of mental distress.
Starting point is 02:04:14 But they have video of her driving to the forest and, like, where she calls and says she is going to kill herself. And she stops on the way and gets, you know, gets gas and, like, goes in and just stands there and pumps the gas. It's very eerie. Do you fill up totally? Well, I guess, yeah, whatever, right? You're not going to pay it. Yeah, you're not like a rental car. But you are at least leaving it full.
Starting point is 02:04:37 and you're not worried about the money aspect because you're not going to be there. Why could she not leave him? Well, there were some elements of like literal and like imprisonment. I mean, he was... I believe Sarah's starting to victim blame here. Let's let her go.
Starting point is 02:04:54 Yeah, that's one of my specialties. Yeah. Just leave. Truly. Truly. I'm going to introduce a nuke to you here. It's very disgusting. So if you have trigger warnings,
Starting point is 02:05:05 but they had gotten into some pretty kinky sexual stuff, meaning him. He was heavily into testosterone, and she eventually needed to be as well because they were doing it like five times a day, and she needed to keep up. But he was like trying to get other people involved to have sex with her and him watch. And at some point, that turned into homeless guys that he would pick up and bring and make her. Is it because of the demoralizing fact that she's? she'd have to, or is it because they were cheap to?
Starting point is 02:05:40 No, I think it was as disgusting, like, as possible. Okay. Yeah, and he would film it. I'm just going to say some homeless guys are hot. I'm just going to say that. So, I mean, steps, for sure. More homeless guys are hot than women. They're burning calories day by day.
Starting point is 02:05:54 Steps. They definitely get their stuff. Yeah. Probably so. But in California, a lot of, all the homeless are male, female, whatever. Very beautiful. Good looking homeless people up there. You really cannot tell them.
Starting point is 02:06:05 We used to have a game in Brooklyn called hips. hipster or homeless. Yeah, I could see that. I was trying to save some of them. Well, she was like on lithium or something. She was on some sort of disassociative... Lithium is what's used for manic depression. And he's trying to give it to her.
Starting point is 02:06:23 She's... I understand that she had some agency here, but without seeing the whole documentary, I'm telling you, the dude was definitely like able to keep her away from her family. Right. She didn't have a job. So the question of coercive control is usually what that's called.
Starting point is 02:06:41 And so, you know, I just want to defend myself on or sort of explain why I'm a victim blammer since that bomb was dropped. You know, I am such an advocate of women's power and ability and responsibility, taking responsibility for their own lives. And so I don't really like narratives that try to say, no, men did it. Men are the only ones with power. No, women have extraordinary power. And I want women to remember that.
Starting point is 02:07:09 And I think men know that. And I think, you know, but when you get into, this sounds like a show that I would really like. I think so. Because I actually saw it last night and I ended up just watching chaos again, that goddamn Manson murder, co-intel probe conspiracy theory thing.
Starting point is 02:07:26 It's so fascinating. Do you know about it? I mean, I'm aware of like the intelligence and acid. So the idea is that his theory is that co-intel Pro trained Manson and taught him how to brainwash, and that essentially he was a Manchurian candidate that went rogue. And that's how he so powerfully brainwashed those girls. And so, you know, and the Manson's story, which everyone's obsessed with, at least in the girl kingdom, it's a story about brainwashing and how much control did those people really have. They were
Starting point is 02:07:59 like deranged by acid. So, you know, this sounds like this might be, I mean, especially when you get drugs and stuff. But, you know, I just, it's, I think it's very legally slippery slope I don't like. We have to be responsible for something and our own death would be one of them. You know, when suicide is in many ways the ultimate form of agency. Because you don't even consent to being born, but you can control your exit. So I don't like the idea of somebody else did that, but I can hear that somebody is responsible for some sort of manipulative aspect of that. You that he can still, like, be tried for some sort of abuse. Well, the only thing they were really able to get him on so far was, like, lying.
Starting point is 02:08:42 Because, dude, it's crazy. He, okay, so a lady kills herself on a Saturday night. He preaches on Sunday morning. He gets up there, and I swear to God, starts with a parody song. Because he's playing piano, and he's just trying to play it away. Like, blad-down. And then at the end of the service, he's like, by the way, my wife killed herself last night. And then from there, he's just texting everyone she knows.
Starting point is 02:09:09 And this is the crazy thing about this is realizing that this is how, this is so much easier to make these documentaries now. Oh, God. Because this is all happened in the last like four years. So they have so much iPhone footage. Every sermon this guy's ever done. They have every email, text message, iPhone video, and they're just piecing it all back together here.
Starting point is 02:09:28 And he's trying to get all of her diaries. He's trying to get all of her phones. and he's panicking and they're just watching it happen in real time. It's interesting. It's also kind of like what I expect is happening at small churches. People get married. Like all of them? I mean, you ever been?
Starting point is 02:09:49 It's a weird vibe. It's a weird vibe. There's something about deciding that this small enough amount of people are the ones who have it right. I need a much bigger group of people to be with to be like, yeah. Well, I guess maybe I would say, say it differently that I think there's always a truth underneath the truth or there's always a lie underneath the performance. And the question is, what is it? It sounds like this one was pretty gnarly.
Starting point is 02:10:13 I think other times it's like, okay, maybe there's a side chick or maybe there's some money that... Oh, there were side chicks. Yeah. There were multiple side chicks. In fact, the lady that he's married to now, when he met her, she was married to a guy in a wheelchair. What are you saying about that? She was his therapist. Like sex therapist? He died in a swim. swimming pool. No. The guy that the pastor is married to now. The woman. She was previously married to a guy at their church who was in a wheelchair. She was his therapist. Like physical therapist. That guy died in a wheelchair or excuse me in a swimming pool. He didn't swim there. He didn't walk over there. Wait, is the implication that the pastor killed the ex?
Starting point is 02:10:55 Yeah. Oh, wow. Or was involved. Oh, wow. This is gnarly. That's right. Are you following Sarah at all? the murder trial of the killer of Mo Three, the local rapper. Oh, no, I've missed this. Will you fill me in? Well, Mo Three and Yellow Beasy were beefing rappers. Yeah. And Mo Three was gunned down on the freeway.
Starting point is 02:11:23 Is this the one that happened in Dallas? Yeah, yeah. Are they the Atlanta rappers, or are they from Dallas? I'm going to say they're from, pretty much from Dallas. You're thinking of when Gucci Maine and somebody else got arrested in Dallas. I am. But yeah, they're going through their lyrics. They're going through, now they're making like the baby mamas and girlfriends testify.
Starting point is 02:11:51 The questions they were asking yesterday, the defense is questioning if the social media rat beef was legit between them. So they're sitting there listening to the songs. Some of these are from as far back as 2019. And then they just sit there and ask yellow bezy on the stand. Okay, what do you mean by? What you mean here? I'm going to kill him and get away. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:12:17 Didn't the same thing happen kind of with the Tupac trial? Do you see that recently? Yes. Oh my gosh. My buddy was telling me about that. I'm so fascinated by that because they convicted him based on his memoir. What are they going to get me on? Dude.
Starting point is 02:12:29 But he wrote in the book that he did it, yeah. Yeah, he did. And I went to Amazon and it only had like 300 reviews, which is usually the sign of a book that didn't sell that well. And I was like, that is so sad. He confessed for clout and then he, he's going down. Few things worse, you know. Yeah, this has been a thing where guys have been going on podcasts and documentary. Podcasts are a great tool for the criminal justice system.
Starting point is 02:12:56 Absolutely. Feel like that's an untapped. Fish in a barrel. Because these guys have been going on There's all these like street YouTube channels now Or like here's these old gangsters Just you can get a mafia guy Or like a Crips guy from the 90s
Starting point is 02:13:11 And they'll just tell war stories Like oh it's probably fine now But here's my question Jake He might they might be bragging and lying Because they want the clout of being a thug When they're actually not Like in the real world They pissed their pants and left
Starting point is 02:13:29 but they're going to tell the story on the podcast about how they held the gun, and then the criminal justice system is going to take them down for it. Numbers on the board. This guy says, for nearly 18 years, Dwayne Davis has told the police, television, books, YouTube interviewers, anybody that will listen. He is told that he is responsible for the murder of Tupac Shakur. So there you go. Now, obviously, the prosecutor's like, why is he doing this now?
Starting point is 02:13:55 Why is he doing it now? Somebody up for election? Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I think it's probably the book. But the book came up a while ago. Yeah, I mean, this started 2023. He's being sentenced next month, but they just found him guilty. I don't think there's any, like, crime crimes.
Starting point is 02:14:21 Did the ditty stuff re-ignite it? Because, like, that documentary came out and then, This is kind of been happening in the background. People like me learned that Diddy had something to do with that. Like you were like, yeah, I knew that, right? I did know that. But I take your point that there's probably a lot of people that didn't. But I mean, did this reignite the whole...
Starting point is 02:14:46 The Tupac thing. I don't know. You think Joe Paterno is innocent? Me? Meaning, do you think Jerry Sandusky's innocent? Are you guys aware of this? No. There's a big push now.
Starting point is 02:15:00 like one of the dudes recanted his statement. Yeah. One of the kids? Yeah. Or they were a kid? Yeah. And what did he say? Did he say that he was coerced into, he's pressured into?
Starting point is 02:15:15 I don't know that. I know Sandusky's statement was, you know, I'm innocent. This has all been, you know, a send up. But the court documents say that the victim's accusations were a result of investigative pressure and psychological manipulation. I don't know if that comes from the victim, but that's what the police are saying. That's so interesting.
Starting point is 02:15:36 I will say that it's very, very hard to get those huge stories correct in real time, whether through the media or the criminal justice system, there's just too much pressure coming from various sides, and it's just really, really hard to get a real picture of what's going on. The kid he was banging in the shower, though, is certainly not recant. Anybody can recant that they want, right? Well, my question would be...
Starting point is 02:16:04 I was doing the slap, slap, slap, slopping son in the shower. My question would be, how old was that, boy? They were all under 18. Right, understood, but was it a teenager or was it a prepubescent? I think it was... Does it matter? Well, for memory purposes, it might. Oh.
Starting point is 02:16:21 Maybe, but... What about the older... Well, no, I'm sorry. Coach's assistant was outside the shower. A prepubescent versus a post-pubescent individual. That makes a big difference. That used to be the line of consent. And we've moved it.
Starting point is 02:16:34 And that's fine. For a 40-year-old guy banging you, it's okay if you're 16? Yeah, that's still legal, Dan, in some states. Look that up. I mean... Oh, awesome. To an extent, she's making the case we've made many, many times. Barely possibly may be legal because no one has addressed this and they didn't think they had to.
Starting point is 02:16:55 She's making the difference between 7 and 16 case, and I think it's a legit one. Yeah. He had a charity that would help, you know, kids without parents. It's always interesting to me when I trip over a landmine with him. I never see it coming. Are you trying to argue that Jerry Sandusky, like, they might have consented to banging in the show? They want a playing time. Legally, they can't.
Starting point is 02:17:22 What do you mean? You just said that in some states you were pretty excited about it. Well, I wasn't excited about it. You were excited about it. and I don't know what state they're in because I'm a sports idiot. So I think it actually is germane to the argument about legality. And I think what I was going to say was, did you know that the age of consent in Germany for a very long time was 13?
Starting point is 02:17:46 And I think France just changed theirs. Back to 13. Yeah, back to 13. Yeah, France is. But I do think that the age of consent conversation is one of the most like, fraught difficult to have, especially I have noticed for men who have teenage daughters. It's just an incredibly fraught conversation because it brings up stuff that is so uncomfortable, which is that an individual is really technically sexual after they hit men.
Starting point is 02:18:15 That's when nature has kind of pressed the button. And for me, that was 10 years old. So that's absurd in a modern world. But you know, you're having to kind of negotiate nature's mandates with legal and social and cultural mandates and how each culture works that out. You know, I've been reading a lot of about the Greeks, you know, man, they were sandusking all over the place. Big time.
Starting point is 02:18:41 People don't talk about it. And it's really like they weren't really, they didn't think of it like they were gay. No, no, no, no. It was like, I just like to have sex with my boys every now. It was like honorable. It was like honorable. We do everything together, me and my boys. All right.
Starting point is 02:18:58 There's your news. The Dumb Zone News. Like and subscribe. That was a good news. Happy birthday. Thank you. Your Romeo birthday is brought to us by Frankel and Frankel, personal injury attorneys. If indeed you get in an accident today, Sarah, we don't want that.
Starting point is 02:19:15 Are you sure? I'm so sure. Who would I argue with? Are you mad at me right now? Love is never having to say you're sorry. You guys should get up and dance around and sing a song about how you actually love each other. We go together. Anyway, no, Frankel and Franco could help you if you were involved in an accident.
Starting point is 02:19:42 They are personal injury attorneys. They are available at 214 or 817. Then you dial all threes. Franklfirm.com. When you do call them, you will talk to a partner. They'll take you step by step through your situation. Might end up telling you, no, actually, this is a, you know, they'll refer you somewhere else. But if you're fighting those insurance companies, if you need to get what you deserve, call the Frankles.
Starting point is 02:20:08 We love them. We love them long time. I found out the other day that, you know, the product Ajax. Yes. As we were talking about the Iliad and home. Yeah. Ajax. The character.
Starting point is 02:20:27 Tough on Greece. Oh. Like you. They named it that because he was, you know, he was terrorizing the Greeks. Did you see The Odyssey? I did. Did you like it? I thought it was like Barbie for men.
Starting point is 02:20:43 He hailed it. I thought it was fine. I thought it was too long. Long movie. It was too long. If only they could have indicated that. It's a good line. That's a good line.
Starting point is 02:20:56 That's what he said. too. He's like, what's this guy? He's just riding around? I'm like, no, he's on an Odyssey. It's the fucking... For it to come full circle, hey, the main character ends up being the bad guy. Could have been solved in 89 minutes.
Starting point is 02:21:09 He's not a bad guy. He's a flawed man, explaining the flaws of man as he understands the world and learns that it's not what he thought it was. Well, I don't need Christopher Nolan just coming everywhere, and we have to respect it because it's
Starting point is 02:21:23 Christopher Nolan. I got to respect this three-hour masterpiece of this guy who's sucks. This lady didn't like it. At no point he was like, for no reason. Well, okay. We're going to get into a horse and then we're going to bring it in the wall.
Starting point is 02:21:35 So she's out. And then he's out because there's no video games in. And out of Greece in two hours. This guy, not enough tits for him. A tight 90 minutes. Even better. Dude, the Spider-Man movie is two and a half hours. This guy loves Kevin James fighting in a cage.
Starting point is 02:21:49 So we can't really take. Frankie Valley's Greece or whatever Swan song he had to listen to that you admit it sucked. Which song is better? Oh, give me the siren song A Million times out of a million Can I say that the sirens really got short shrift in that movie? Like I was looking forward to the siren scene I think they could have
Starting point is 02:22:06 And a lot of kids movies that I watch are like cartoons They take the ass slider on the lady And they put it way up, way up The siren Fives at best Six is maybe There were nothing over there No meat on their bones
Starting point is 02:22:20 I know And a Colista Flockhart Do you think I'm going to the Hades for that waif Jake's love of a meaty woman is a charming thing. I just want to say, Blake, I have your back on this. Thank you. You are correct. All right.
Starting point is 02:22:35 Well, with Sarah's backing, Blake's review, or actually the movie, the movie itself, The Odyssey gets our donkey of the day. Oh, wow. Wow. The movie, Christopher Nolan, is our donkey of the day. What am I doing here? Oh, viewer male birthday. Greetings Dan Dan the venereal man
Starting point is 02:22:58 It's cute Tuesday was the 80th or is the 80th birthday of my wife's grandmother Sibb Her leaders are not dying as an infant Or during childbirth Yeah Indoor plumbing
Starting point is 02:23:13 And racism That's from James She's 80 I'm way more okay with Dated racism than I am The sort of cancable stuff in Greece I just feel like Can I say
Starting point is 02:23:28 Can I challenge you on the racism stuff? There's a chance that I would have owned a slave. There is no chance that I would have been drugging drugging women to try to have my way with them. That's just not a lot. I'm the opposite. And I feel to each the row.
Starting point is 02:23:43 But like if people used to use different words, whatever. The themes of Greece where it's like constantly just like yeah maybe she'll give me some pussy. It's just gross. I don't think he's, knows what it is to live in a world presexual revolution. It's possible, but grosses me out. Every dude is just like,
Starting point is 02:24:01 meh, now I'm under the bleachers with a mirror. It's like, give it a rest, dude. But can I... So horny. Sorry, Kyler. I'm losing my cool. Can I say that you characterize this as racism before you went on a very good rant? And I just want to say, I think the racism charge was a little undercooked. Agreed. And I think that what you're describing is... what would you call it? Casual.
Starting point is 02:24:27 Sure, just national xenophobia. But what I'm saying is the racism of this guy's grandma. I support it. Oh. Hello, friends. This is from Lance. Another year, another instance of wishing myself, happy birthday, like I'm effing Stephen Glansberg. Super bad.
Starting point is 02:24:50 Here, let me play it real quick. What is this? What, so I got to sit here and you dessert alone like I'm fucking Stephen Glansberg? What a pool. Who's Stephen Glensb? Some kid in the lunchroom. He's sitting there eating pudding by himself. That's a good one from Lance.
Starting point is 02:25:08 Today is my Chidaebe Awusier birthday. What a guy. My leaders are Dan pronouncing rapper's names during today in history. Jake hyena laughing through the pain during his TV interview about him throwing a baseball. And Blake's grandpa's son. slugging percentage. A couple of movie tropes. A wanted criminal throwing on a baseball cap and maybe a coat and instantly becoming
Starting point is 02:25:38 unrecognizable. Again, I was going to bring this up on the pastor's wife thing. She just puts on a baseball hat and is like, all right, now I'm hitting the road fully in disguise. Another movie trope. an actor pulling out a container of ice cream from the freezer, and it's somehow being of soft-served consistency. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 02:26:04 Just kind of dig right in. Yeah, every time. Not like when you get your Schwann's delivery, and it's just rock. Cranked at Soldier Hogg from D.F. Lance. P.S., Jake got ball-sacked by the mother-daughter dad clapping video. It is most certainly an AI-generative video. I thought I said I thought there was a chance it was, no?
Starting point is 02:26:29 Jake was talking about a video where it's like kind of a guy in the South and he's standing in the middle. There's more than one of them. Nice looking older lady standing next to him and a nice looking young lady standing next to him. One is I guess probably late teens or maybe 20 years old and one is like 50 years old. And they're both well and down. loud ladies. Okay. And so it's the clapping challenge to where this guy closes his eyes or he's blindfolded.
Starting point is 02:27:03 And then one of the girls jumps up and down, thereby you hear the boobs and the butt kind of smack against each other and everything. And he's like, that's my daughter. Like he could tell based on the sound. And, yeah, Jake said it was the next big thing. I had an open-made noticing. Cheetah Bay-A-Wosier, not Anthony Brown. Anthony Brown, I was just going to tell Sarah that there was a Cowboys player who once got a Ruffles potato chip
Starting point is 02:27:38 tattooed on his shoulder because he misunderstood the chip on my shoulder. Colloquialism. That's cute. Hey, did you guys see that I met Doc Prescott and we're going to fall in love? I see that you've been spending a lot of time with DEC. Yes. I did see that. Is he a dork?
Starting point is 02:27:57 He's such a good man. Do you know how much he likes the band? Just say yes. The band train. I can. Dr. Daniel. I can totally see it and I can forgive him. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:28:09 You know, he tore down his house and built a whole new one because his fiancé was mad that he had sex with other ladies in that house? You wouldn't make him do that. And do you know. I would never make him do that. I would make him go to the house. bed and do it with me better. No doubt. Did he ask if you do anal?
Starting point is 02:28:28 Good callback. Wouldn't that be weird if I was interviewing him and that was like his last question for me? He could get away with. Do you need to explain that? Like, Kyler's like what? Oh, I'm sorry. That was like some guy asked you out on a date and that was his first question to you. I once went on a date with this guy and I said, you can ask me any question you want and he said, do you like anal?
Starting point is 02:28:51 The guy's going right for it. Right. Respect. Yeah. I mean, he doesn't got time to mess around, right? Let's go. Yeah. Like, did we need to do the 18 dates and then we finally, like, let's find out now.
Starting point is 02:29:03 Got wait till my birthday. Dr. Daniel, today is either the 32nd or 33rd birthday of good D.F. Big effing owl. His leaders are hot slutty moms and Corey Taylor of Slipknot. Okay. Who are the hot slutty moms? I think just in general. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 02:29:24 Yeah. He wants it known that saying Grady Spencer has a giant bag is an insult to giant bags. More T.C. more gummies. Three yards every play is the first down from Mason. That's mean. Well, I didn't know if he was buddies with Grady Spencer and busting his balls. I hope not. Oh, you hope he actually just hates Grady Spencer?
Starting point is 02:29:44 No, I don't want him to make fun of Grady Spencer. I'm saying if he's a friend of his... I just said if he's a friend of his... I'm sorry with all the confusion. All right. Blake doesn't understand anything. Why am I so deep and ahead of everyone else? And able to grasp grease.
Starting point is 02:30:02 Flooring Direct's DFW presents on this day in history. All right, let's tell you about Flooring Direct DFW. Dan's getting new floors. That's right. That'll be beautiful. He's going to christen each one of them. You know it. That's what I do when I go into every house.
Starting point is 02:30:25 Yeah, they come direct to you. So their name kind of says it, right? It's nominative determinism. Wow. Yeah. And they do floors. So they bring the showroom to you. They have a showroom in Addison, but they will take their showroom to your house.
Starting point is 02:30:44 Sample, sample, samples. Right now it's just decision-making CISN, which is not a quick thing in my household. but she is looking at a ton of samples. What's the kind of floor she likes? Herringbone. Oh, it's so classy. Have you ever heard of hearing bone? Of course.
Starting point is 02:31:01 Oh, you have? It's a classic design. Okay, I have never heard of it. But now, all of a sudden, I've known my wife all this time, she's like, I've always wanted herringbone. I'm like, really? Yeah, I'll give you a harrying bone. Wow.
Starting point is 02:31:14 Anyway, right now, 36 months, zero percent free financing, new floors in your home for nothing down the exclusive five-star installation package. They move your furniture, treat it like our own. Put it back when we're done. And they're from here. Dan, Dan, my flooring direct man, I've known him for two decades. He's awesome. Goering Direct, DFW owned.
Starting point is 02:31:35 Your dumb kids are back at school. You can get the floors replaced without them screwing everything up. Flooring direct, dfW.com slash DZ. Or 972-449-9-457. You know, I've always wanted a herringbone floor, too. I had a backpack once. I'm very proud of it. You ever seen the Brooklyn Nets floor is herringbone?
Starting point is 02:32:01 They're past their hardwood. Are you serious? Very cool. Dang. Classy. Okay, this is today in history. Thursday, September 3rd. On this day in 1975,
Starting point is 02:32:14 Steve Garvey returns to the Los Angeles lineup after missing two days with the flu. He would not leave the lineup again until he got a National League record 1,2007 consecutive games. He would later co-host Garvey in Company. We would learn this when Jimmy Christopher, who used to work at the ticket a long time ago, once had to interview Hank Blaylock.
Starting point is 02:32:50 Hammer and Hank. And Hank Blaylock was from Southern California. That's where Jimmy Christopher was from as well. And he had a really long question to Hank Blaylock. Hey, Hank, do you get back to Rancho Bernardo very often these days? Yeah, it's just on the off season. Because the reason why I ask is I live there in 89. I worked for a station in Southern California.
Starting point is 02:33:13 I worked with Steve Garvey, Garvey and Company. I was basically the N company. And I lived in Rancho Bernardo for a couple of years. We had two dogs, my girlfriend, and I used to walk those dogs. You just got to know the second you start telling your story, this is over. And he's been in radio for a long time, but I know. But just the ripout point is so quick and there's so much more. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 02:33:38 We don't have to play it all. It's tough. I just wanted you to know that there was a Garvey in company and Jimmy was the incumbent. And I was the in company. Yes, the question keeps going 30 more seconds. How does he respond? Blaylock. every night by where Rancho Bernardo high would play.
Starting point is 02:33:54 Of course, this was back in 89, so you're probably... Right before the school was built. Yeah, exactly, exactly. But that little ballpark there we used to walk to, and I saw where you played a Rancher Bernardo, so I just thought I'd ask you that. It's a nice setting. It was a nice setting to play ball.
Starting point is 02:34:07 Do you like playing there? Yeah, I was really trying to have a good team with my uncle with the coach, so... That's the question. Did you like playing there? Did you like playing in California? That wasn't... That wasn't the question at the outset.
Starting point is 02:34:21 He just wanted to start talking and then he found his question about halfway through. It happens sometimes. On this day in 2002, Rangers pitcher Joaquin Benoit got the longest save in Major League history. It's the most Rangers stat of all time. Longest save. Seven innings of one hit ball in relief. Dang. You know the save rules if you pitch more than three.
Starting point is 02:34:50 three innings, I think, to close the game. Anyway, he was relieving because Aaron Maillette was ejected after throwing only two pitches. Oh, my. What a name? Aaron Maillet, what happened was A-Rod, Alex Rodriguez, came up in the first inning, was hit by a pitch. So Aaron Maillette's first pitch of the game was, I think it was Melvin Mora. He was thrown behind the batter, like behind him. And his second pitch, behind him.
Starting point is 02:35:22 He kept trying to hit him and he kept missing him. And then they disjected him. Hit him in the butt. And on this day in 2017, you remember this game when Aggie, Texas A&M, 2017. Oh, yeah. They're winning by 34 points. They're beating UCLA. But then UCLA has a tremendous comeback.
Starting point is 02:35:45 At the very end, 43 seconds left. Josh Rosen fakes a spike and throws a 10-yard touchdown pass. And they win 45 to 44. That was big on my, the Rosen won. Four minutes and eight seconds left in the third quarter. So four minutes left in the third quarter, they were losing 44 to 10. And they won 45 to 44. There's a pretty good chance that Tony Busby wrote a letter after that.
Starting point is 02:36:17 Because it was one of those early games where Tony Busby started, do you know Tony Busby, Sarah? No. He's the attorney that represents like every woman who's accusing some, like all the Deshaun Watson ladies. He's the Gloria all read of sports. Basically, yeah, he's a Houston guy. Gotcha. And he's also a big Aggie booster.
Starting point is 02:36:37 So the type of guy who buys a tank and parks it in front of his house in Houston, he was writing letters often that year. Like, get this guy out of here. Got it done. So it is September 3rd. this day in Dumb Zone history. Just one show on this day. It was back in 2024. We're getting ready to go to Cleveland.
Starting point is 02:37:00 So we're coming up on a special two-year anniversary. Jake's wife... Right before September 11th, isn't it? Yep. Never forget. Jake's wife, her wallet, got stolen out of the car. Oh, my God. That was a wild scene, dude.
Starting point is 02:37:18 That was one of those. There's a lot more going on out there than you think there is. It was her purse. Like her whole purse got stolen out of a car in a park in freaking South Lake. And from then on, it was on. Because a lady who looked like her had the ID and was using it. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 02:37:38 And there was a whole like system. And a lady contacted my wife on Instagram and was like, hey, I think the same lady has my ID. I've been working with like a investigator. It was a whole web. the lady had gotten money out like legitimate money you got blamed didn't you I did
Starting point is 02:37:58 I don't think I locked my car not totally not unmorented right it wasn't also didn't leave my purse in the car see who's the victim blamer here well trust me I had to wear it it it was not like my argument went over well at home but
Starting point is 02:38:20 she got it back what year is that was that Was that right before? She said, I'm going to get rid of you for a little while. Yeah. Also, Dan had to buy a new battery for his phone. It was without his phone for two hours and hated it. He had to print his workout to go to the gym.
Starting point is 02:38:40 Fucking Mapsquested your workout. That's cute. Other birthdays today, James Neal, former Dallas Stars 39. He looks like the Sabatka guy. That's right. Not Ziggy. The older one. Nicky.
Starting point is 02:39:01 Oh, from the wire? Yeah. He was in a major trade, right? Yeah, he's in a trade that ended up getting them like Miro or... Gologoski. There you go. That got him, Gologoski? Dick Mata is 95. He's today's still alive.
Starting point is 02:39:22 That's a former Rav coach. 95. I want to be 95, Sarah. You will. Thank you. You're taking good care of yourself. Javon Curse is 50. The freak. We knew his brother. Brother played for the Cowboys. Devin Singletary is 29. He's usually too spare to put on this list.
Starting point is 02:39:46 But I wanted to bring it up because I have a fantasy draft this weekend. And I always end up with him on my team. He's terrible. I had one last night. You had one last night? Yeah. Who's your first pick? I had the 10th pick.
Starting point is 02:40:03 I took CD Lamb. Okay. This is so cute. There's no way CD drops to 10 in our league. Hold on. You had a dream about a fantasy draft? No, I had a real one last night with my friends in real life. Oh, you had a real draft.
Starting point is 02:40:18 Fun. A real draft. Good camaraderie. It was a real draft. Real fantasy. It was a real one. That doesn't make sense. Rahim Morris is 50.
Starting point is 02:40:30 He was hired over Bill Belichick to coach the Falcons. How'd that go? Where's he at right now? He is the San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator. Okay. You can do worse. Miles Jack is 31. Man.
Starting point is 02:40:47 Miles Jack versus Jalen Smith. Well, neither one of them worked out. But God. He was... Do you know what Miles Jack is doing now? It's very odd. He is the owner. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 02:41:04 Of the Allen Americans. Yeah. Hockey team. Why? I don't know. What is that? Did he get in trouble? It's a minor league hockey team.
Starting point is 02:41:13 Like a low minor league hockey team is the... In Allen. In Allen, Texas? Yeah. Yeah. And Miles Jack is a former NFL player who never played here, but somehow he owns the Allen Americans. Mason Crosby.
Starting point is 02:41:25 is 42. He was a Packers long time kicker. Miles Jack was shooting his gun in his house. Oh, okay. My gun, my house, my body. Jenny Finch is 46. Struck out Arod. She could strike out Barry Bonds. Yeah, like
Starting point is 02:41:45 no wonder she could throw perfect games. Right? Like, Major League Hitters couldn't hit her from that distance. Major League hitters are not used to seeing... Major League hitters have less of a chance of hitting her. Right? I think. That's what I remember. I'm all saying.
Starting point is 02:42:00 You're not used to it. Yeah, it's coming up. Now me? Now, what if A-Rod decided to be a lady and just goes and plays in the softball league with her? My son exclusively chooses to play with women on FIFA. All right. They won't. I don't think they'll let you play a man's team with the women's team.
Starting point is 02:42:25 It switches it over. That idea. Sean White is 40. The Olympic gold medal snowboarder. Luis Gonzalez is 59. Today's War Games winner with 51.7. Holt McEleney is 63. He's an actor who was in Mind Hunter,
Starting point is 02:42:43 among other things. Jack Dylan Grazer is 23. He is an actor in the movie It. You know the movie It? Yes. Anybody into that? I was into the Stephen King book. I read it in ninth grade.
Starting point is 02:42:59 Is it great? I loved it. I have it, but it's very big. Not enough dancing. It's, yeah. It's such an immersive read. You know, you go back into the lives of these characters, and Stephen King is so good at creating those books
Starting point is 02:43:17 that feels like you're walking inside of a world, and then you're just lost in them. I remember reading it. I was sick over, like, Thanksgiving vacation or something, and I read it in three days, you know. So you had to read, like, 350 pages a day, because it's a thousand pages. Child orgy scene in there?
Starting point is 02:43:35 I'm sorry? It? Is there? There's a child like orgy part of that. Yeah. That's why you were immersed into it. Yeah, I'm sure I was into that. When I was in ninth grade, you know, in ninth grade,
Starting point is 02:43:51 all the girls were reading this thing called Flowers in the Attic. And it was the thing about it. I didn't read it, but it was the brother and sister get it on. V.C. Andrews. Look it up. See, we got nothing new. Musician Todd Lewis is 61 from the Toadies. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 02:44:12 Malcolm Gladwell is 63. I know Malcolm Gladwell. Blink. You know him personally? Yeah. Drop a name? I did a... I'm dropping a name.
Starting point is 02:44:22 Boink. I did a book event with him at the Texas Book Festival. Because he wrote a book called Talking with Strangers that had a chapter about alcohol. And he wanted me to... Moderate. Didn't work the first time. Hey, rummy. Moderate, get it?
Starting point is 02:44:42 Yeah, that's funny. It was too clever for me. You've gone into your comedian mode, and it's too clever. Seems like he's a tiny guy. Little guy? He's a runner. He's very strong, but he's probably like five, eight, very skinny, you know, but muscular. And he runs hours, hours a day.
Starting point is 02:45:07 Rapper Red Fu is 49. From the duo L-M-F-A-O. Oh, okay. Yeah. They're called rappers? You're a big Red-Foo guy, right? I can't say that I know any of his solo word. It's sexy and I know it.
Starting point is 02:45:26 Dave Ramsey. That song is insane. Dave Ramsey? Dave Ramsey is 66. So how much money are you spending? Well, I got $3.25 up on the house. I got 90,000 tied up in my cars. Credit card debt?
Starting point is 02:45:41 Yeah, we're paying off about 45,000 credit cards. Do you have any envelopes? Get an envelope. I don't have an emergency fund. Hey, do you got to mark a right bills on this envelope? Okay, Dave. Now there's a new guy trying to beat Dave Ramsey. So what, Spend?
Starting point is 02:45:56 He has co-host. Oh, he does. Oh, yeah, the guy in Austin. Caleb. Yeah, Caleb. Caleb. He probably wants to retire. Hey Dave, I was thinking about getting a jet ski kind of front load the thing.
Starting point is 02:46:12 It's always some guy who wants a fucking personal watercraft. Every time, Dave's like, no. Anytime someone tells Dave that they have a boat, sell it. Sell it. Hater. Sell the boat. Pay down the dead on the house. Hey, hold on here.
Starting point is 02:46:26 Hear me out, Dave. Oh. Steve Sharipa is 69. That's Bobby Bacaliari in the Sopranos. We have Amber Lynn is 62. Oh my God. She may have been in the porno that my RA invited us into his room to see. I love that you remember that.
Starting point is 02:46:59 It's really gross. You're going to remember what was on the screen. Ron Jeremy, too. And Dumb's own birthday of the day, 61 years old. Charlie Sheen. Wow. Dan. Winning.
Starting point is 02:47:20 Or won, right? AIDS. Do you remember he was doing a tour? Like he did, it was called the Sheenius tour. Yeah. Did you go? Absolutely. Of course he went.
Starting point is 02:47:32 It was at the AAC. Yeah. Me and like 15,000 of my friends. Maybe 10. That was a weird. I don't know. But the point is there's a lot of people there and it was great. It was an electric night.
Starting point is 02:47:46 It was unbelievable. You're like live streaming every day or something? It was so great. That was a weird moment in culture. Tiger's blood. Born in this day now dead. Jeremy Glick. The interviewer.
Starting point is 02:48:01 No, that's Jiminy. Oh, tried to stop the hijacking of United Flight 93. What if that was the guy? Jiminy Glick is the funniest thing Martin Short's ever done. It's great. Go back and watch you probably have. I've just started, actually. It's so good.
Starting point is 02:48:16 I've just kind of discovered it. He's done a million things, and I didn't know it. Whitey Bulger, born in the stay now dead. Arrested because of breast implants. I'm sorry? Yeah, I'm pretty sure he paid for his wife's, like, or his girls' breast implants on the run. And then when she went in to get him replaced or something, they checked. It was like a serial number thing.
Starting point is 02:48:39 That's how they got him. Yes. Oh. That's right. It's a rough one. And born in the standout dead, Valerie Perrine, she was the girlfriend of Lex Luthor in the original Superman movie. She's nice looking. Hubba, Hubba. That's what I said when I saw her in that movie. You say it out loud in the movie theater?
Starting point is 02:49:01 Yes. On this day in 19, or excuse me, dead on this day, still dead in 1970, Vince Lombardi. Frank Capra, who directed It's a Wonderful Life, Jake? Banger, loved it. Is that your mom's favorite movie or something? Last year was the first time I'd actually watch the whole thing and I did love it. Yeah. My mom was a James Stewart fan. James. Also dead on this day, still dead.
Starting point is 02:49:28 She went to a book signing when he was like 90. Walter Becker from Steely Dan. Legend. Chandra Dangy says here the shortest man in history. He was one foot nine inches tall. What? Live to the age of 75. In little guy years, that's...
Starting point is 02:49:47 Yeah. Really? And died on this day in 2013, Ariel Castro. He, I believe, took his own life behind bars, Dan. Yes. Here's his neighbor talking about him. See, the girl Amanda told the police, I ain't just the only ones. It's some old girls up in that house.
Starting point is 02:50:12 I forget. It's some more girls. You know, 30-40 deep. And when they came out was just up. astonishing because I thought they were going to come up with nothing. I figured, I mean, whoever she was, and like I said, my neighbor, you got, you got some big testicles to pull this off, bro, because we see this dude every day. I mean, every day. How long have you lived here?
Starting point is 02:50:31 I've been here a year. You shouldn't come up from? I barbecue with this dude. We eat ribs and whatnot, and listen to salsa music. You sure I'm coming from? And you had no indication that there was anything else. No, bro, not a clue. Do you know what this is?
Starting point is 02:50:45 No. This is in Cleveland in 2013. They, this new story ran. This was a neighbor. A white girl had ran out of a house. Apparently this guy, Ariel Castro, was keeping these more than one, like three girls. Two or three girls. I don't know.
Starting point is 02:51:07 One and some Mo girls in there. Yeah. He says it like the Christopher up in his basement for like a decade. Yeah, it's all coming back now. For like a decade. The Castro last name had me on the wrong track. Yeah. Anybody else was in there against their will.
Starting point is 02:51:21 Because how he is, he just comes out to his backyard, plays with the dogs, take it with his cars and motorcycles, goes back in the house. So he's somebody that you look and you look away because he's not doing nothing, but the average stuff. You see what I'm saying? Nothing exciting about him. Well, until the day. What's reaction on the girl's faces?
Starting point is 02:51:40 I can't imagine to see the sunlight to be around people. I knew something was wrong when a little pretty white girl ran in. to a black man's arm. Something's wrong here. He's doing bits. Dead giveaway. Dead giveaway. Giveaway.
Starting point is 02:51:53 Thank you very much for your time. Either she's homeless or she got problems. That's the only reason why she runs to a black man. We ate ribs. I'll tell you what. So, because of this, you know, I'm searching for what audio. The auto tunes and.
Starting point is 02:52:07 But everybody, he was on like George Stepanopoulos that week. Like, everybody is like, I got to get this guy in my show. And that's what they all. booked. This guy did a huge media tour. I wonder, is he still around? Yeah, he's leading health and human services, I think. I don't know. And that's what happened on this day in history. Now we come to the portion of the program called Closing Remarks. It's the last thing we do every show,
Starting point is 02:52:40 Sarah. Are you familiar with that? I'm excited about it. Are you losing weight? Yeah. What's the deal? Book tour. When you go on a book tour, you get So many pictures taken of you from so many different angles. I know I don't need to explain this to y'all. But it is really, it makes me feel more comfortable if I'm at a kind of optimum weight for myself. You know, instead of the sort of dirt bag eating cheeseburgers for lunch and dinner. That's commonly who you usually are? That's more my, that's my writing mode.
Starting point is 02:53:13 Okay. And this is more like performance, Sarah. So I'm... What are you doing? Bulimia? No. I never do bulimia. And I was more like at 13.
Starting point is 02:53:25 I tried anorexia, but I just really like eating. Eating. Eating too much. So I think what's really helped me is just getting more like high protein and lots of water and just very simple like nuts and cheeses. You know, I just had to get off the treadmill of like the carb. Yeah. You know, I just, I like. I really just asked a yes or no question.
Starting point is 02:53:50 You didn't actually. We're just having fun. No, we just want to have Kyler have his time as well. No, you look great. My point is that not that you needed to lose weight. I know he likes a little more full-figured lady. Like you were complimenting him before. Anyway.
Starting point is 02:54:13 No, let's talk more about my weight. Does anybody want to rank my weight from 1 to 10, what it used to be and what it is now? I think people absolutely will. Okay, well then why don't they do that in the comments? As long as they buy a book. As long as they buy a book, it's available for pre-order. Did you know Dan and Jake that pre-orders really matter to authors?
Starting point is 02:54:35 They actually signal to booksellers. That's when you go to a bookstore and you see books on N-Caps or you see them on tables. There's been a whole drama behind that. Oh, wow. And basically, they're looking at all the pre-orders, who puts it in the, their card on Goodreads. That's basically what, so it basically like defines the trajectory of your book. It's crazy. Art Stavi talking about this with his special. It doesn't come out till next week, but he was like, go on Netflix and add it. Right. Like put that you want to watch it so they'll know
Starting point is 02:55:04 that people are waiting for it. So now they have all these metrics. And, you know, it used to be a little bit of a guessing game and you had to be like a really smart bookseller that knew about things. Now they're just looking at these metrics, what's being added on Goodreads. Like Barnes & Noble, the entire chain of Barnes and Noble just looks at your pre-orders on Barnes and Noble. And that's terrifying because I'm sorry, but who orders their books from Barnes and Noble? Or ahead of time, like, by a lot, you know? Did you get a boost from like Oprah or something? So I just got a review in Oprah's Daily Picks. That's got to be huge. Did you see that? I saw you tweeted it. Okay, so she called me wickedly lovable. Wow. And then the last line of
Starting point is 02:55:44 it is this might be the perfect book for your friend going through a breakup. How about that? Come on. So I don't... I'm reading it, hoping to go through a breakup soon. Let's be ready. Have one on ice, you know? Okay, I will say this. Robert Wolonski read it.
Starting point is 02:56:00 Robert Wolonski, fabled voice of the Dallas Morning News. And he said that it is a very good book for men who are trying to understand women or hope to understand women. Okay. I feel like I'm already there, but I mean, I'll check it out and see if... Oh, okay. You've already... Well, Jake, you don't read books, and I know that. I'll read this one.
Starting point is 02:56:20 So I have very low-x. Go order it. What is the preferred way to pre-order? I don't give it. Okay. I mean, Amazon. Got it. There's a cool thing.
Starting point is 02:56:30 There's a site called Book Shop, I think, and you can do orders for indie books sellers, and then they get the kickback. Like, if you want to do the indie store route. But, like, I do not give it crap. I just, it's called the only thing there is to want. I know that's a mouthful. and it's by Sarah Heppala, you know, regular, semi-regular on the Dumb Zone podcast, of Dumb Zone podcast fame. I just want to note that she said things like mouthful and protein, and I just didn't say anything.
Starting point is 02:57:07 She said nut right there with it. And I did not offer anything. Stayed on sides. I'm just letting her promote. That's right. Speaking of growth, I'll give you some growth. So Kyler, let's tell, it's Kyler Atlas here. Kyler Atlas, I'm going to call him that.
Starting point is 02:57:22 It's works. Because I don't want to call him Kyler Ford because that's his real name, but then he's going to have to sell me an F-150. Atlas Foundation Company. Now you said you actually heard someone else doing closing remarks, and you're like, all right, I'll probably call now. Yeah, the guy y'all had on for Plum Quick, I heard the closing remarks with him,
Starting point is 02:57:43 and I had considered reaching out to y'all before. hand and I think that's what tipped me over the edge. So you're a small business owner, fellow small business owner. You know what an LLC is, right? Yes. Yes. Yeah, we're a small company. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:57:56 Do you? But you do cover DFW. Correct. Now, you're more fly by night or fly by day? All day. All day. No nights. And family business, yeah?
Starting point is 02:58:10 Did you ever have a choice? I just, I thought I did. Yeah, kind of. You know, I went to college to get out. of digging holes for as long as I could, but inevitably came back to dig some holes. Where'd you go to college? Texas State. I think you accused me of being an Aggie the other day.
Starting point is 02:58:25 He did. I don't know. But it was Texas State. I just wanted to set that record straight. I think I erroneously said your name was Kyle. Yes, and Jake said maybe Aggie. But you went to Texas State too, right? I did.
Starting point is 02:58:38 You didn't even recognize a Bobcat? No, I guess not. We don't have to advertise it like some other schools. Oh, okay. I like that Well, he was under my house yesterday And he'll get under yours Or have someone else
Starting point is 02:58:54 So you have first hand He's not lying about the whole thing How he does stuff No, it appears to be very legit Okay Got a legit website They've been around since 1958 Yep
Starting point is 02:59:05 And they've got no salespeople So have him come out Do an estimate Yeah, I guess you laid some of that out In the beginning of the show Do you know want to any other stuff Or I know you're So you're a listener
Starting point is 02:59:16 You were listening through closing remarks and everything. Yeah, absolutely. Just touch on what Jake did. You know, we come from experience. That's why I don't have sales guys because sales guys don't have experience in foundation repair. They have experience in selling. So it's really hard to evaluate a house, much less know how to fix a house without having done it yourself. That's kind of what we pride ourselves on.
Starting point is 02:59:39 And the next most important step is in not having to salespeople is the people that lift your house. That's probably the hardest part about what we do is lifting your house back to where it needs to go. There's an art to it. And I don't let crew leaders do it. Our superintendents, that's what they do all day, every day, is lift houses. That's where the quality of the repair comes from because you can hurt a house as much as you help a house if you do it wrong. So we really pride ourselves and lifting a house correctly. And I guess that's where the being in business since the 50s or whatever.
Starting point is 03:00:13 Yeah, that's right. comes into play like you're going to be there. When I started to work at Atlas, I was three guys in the office, and between the three of them, I was surrounded by 100 years of experience. Not everybody has that when they go to work. So I was able to learn a lot before I'm in this role now. Before you plotted their demise and took over. Shub them out the door.
Starting point is 03:00:37 That was the only way to get the shovel out of my hands was for them to walk out the door. So it was a happy time. Yeah. So could you dig? Just with your hands, you could dig a grave and how long? How long would it take? Like a real live grave? Yeah.
Starting point is 03:00:52 A day at least. You could do it, though? It would be difficult. We've been discussing digging a hole. I don't think you could, no. Not a whole grave. And you've got to dig a grave-sized hole. That'd be so hard.
Starting point is 03:01:06 Is it so... Plurvis? Yes. You saw the movie? Do you remember? She had to dig a hole. She dug a huge grave hole in one day. I do remember that.
Starting point is 03:01:15 it just looks like so much work. Yeah. On the second half, all the dirt's above your head. So just throwing it that high is the hard part. Then it's all coming back in on you. You don't even think about that. That's a guy who's done it before. Yeah.
Starting point is 03:01:29 That's just a lot of work. I would definitely want to hire somebody to do that. That's what equipment's for. Maybe you could have, if Atlas Foundation Company, if somebody called you and said, I actually, my foundation's high, but I do need to pay off a bet. Could you just come out and dig that hole real quick? And then I'll pretend I did it.
Starting point is 03:01:50 They may charge you for that. Yeah. But we can probably do something out. Yeah, not a free thing. We can make a hole appear for you and say you did it. But you will come out to everybody else's house for free. Absolutely. Even in Dallas County, you don't usually do a lot of Dallas County,
Starting point is 03:02:04 but you'll do it for free for a dumb zone listener only. Absolutely. We just ask that you mention the dumb zone and we'll make a lot of, a priority to get out to Dallas to take a look at your house. Sarah Heppala, what's that phone number? Do you see it on the monitor there? Oh, you know. You know what it is.
Starting point is 03:02:20 It's 817-872. No, no, no, no. No, no, no. It's hard to read from here for her to facts. It's 817672-9950. Sarah's book is called The Only Thing There is to Warned. We do not give a box. Sorry.
Starting point is 03:02:36 That's the GSE TV next year. Yes. Yeah. Give it away. All right, well, I'm going to go to the bathroom. Yeah, I'm just going to go. All good? We good? I'm good if y'all are.
Starting point is 03:02:48 I appreciate you all having me out here. I wanted a live name rating real quick. Oh, okay. Well, you've got to get that in. Sorry. Boy, he's yelling at you. Has this payment gone through? It's a Hollis James Ford.
Starting point is 03:03:00 That's fantastic. That's fantastic. Girl or boy? Boy. Both are great. Hollis James is a good name. That is a good name. It's pretty.
Starting point is 03:03:08 And Ford is a cool last name so it can get a little trick. you with the front end and I like, it works. Well, good. I can let my wife know that. She'll be happy. All right. Well, thanks, Kyler. Thank you, Sarah Hepila. I want to go to your grease party. I want everybody to buy the only thing there is to want. A memoir of three loves. Yeah. Do you think that two of them are each of you? The story of Sarah Hepelah's dating life.
Starting point is 03:03:41 Adios, mofo. We got to go. before this becomes a zoo. See you guys for drinks later. Thank you for watching my video. Subscribe and type for my name if you want to watch more of my video. Okay, man, I need you guys to take a couple steps back
