Now on to today's program.
Don't help me.
You are listening to subscriber-only content.
I was married for two fucking years.
I'm Blake Jones.
Fudy CK is here as well.
I see intern Henry here.
I see Julie C.K.
Hey, Julie.
Hey, what's up?
We are, we're not at the Game Day Men's Health Studio,
although we do love the Game Day Mensell Studio.
GameDay.com.
We're not high atop my garage.
We are in Allen, which is interesting because this morning I just got online and I said,
all right, I'm here at the remote because you said we were going to do a show at Fairlees.
Right.
You're in a shower online.
Fairlees is wherever you are.
That's the whole bit, right?
That's a concept.
If you're out by the pool, you could shop for your new car.
Running from the cops?
You could do, yeah, wherever you are, as long as you got a couple of boxes.
cars, right? You got to get on the internet. Sure. Maybe you have Clayton's expensive router.
Yeah, so I thought it was like Tron or something. If I was at Fairlees, I'd be all like,
no, but that's what I'm telling you, man. There's some good kid movies out there, and one of them
is Reckett Ralph, and in particular, Reckett Ralph breaks the internet because they live in the
internet, and it's like, we've got to get over to eBay. It's a very fun concept. That's what it
would be like you'd run by Fairleys.
You're like, well, they'll treat me well in there.
But they're just a bridge to the future.
They're not actually in the future yet.
So they do have a physical location.
You know, I guess because they will deliver a car to you.
Like, they delivered a car to Brandon Aubrey on a football field.
I'm not kidding.
But they actually have like a, they have to keep the cars somewhere.
Some of them, yeah, some of them, they'll,
They'll go pick up, you know, like a minor leaguer that's hitting well in another part of the country.
They'll just call them in.
But they also have to have offices.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's people and there's desks.
They have not replaced them.
You weren't here the day that Julie and I came in here.
It kind of was like my little mini sports center experience.
Like they walked us in there and there were people that were like very excited.
They're like, oh, Julian jaker here.
Like the Fairleys floor was a buzz.
Well, they walked me through there, and there was like, nothing.
There's a bunch of people working over there.
They didn't care at all about when I walked through.
Keep working hard at it.
Yeah.
You have some time left at your career.
Not a lot.
Oh.
To my wife, he's right.
Listen to this.
This is kind of a personal thing, but my wife last night and I were just whatever.
She's like, when do you think Dan wants to retire?
Oh.
I'm like, that is, what sort of, do you think dudes talk like that?
Like the things that they think we talk about.
Like, you and I are.
sitting down like what's your dreams buddy
how do you want to
how do you see yourself
is she like feeling that's within the time
I should start thinking about like
no I think it was more just like
you know women don't want to
they don't see themselves a lot of times
as working into the grave I've never
considered there being a time where I didn't
work but I don't know
maybe normal people do whatever the point
is that you don't consider it work right
you know my wife thinks that you're a snack
and that you're in great shape
but she's very happy for you for how well you take care of herself.
And that I probably would not be here today had you not gotten me where I needed to go.
So leave that aside.
I just don't, it's insane to think that you and I would have personal conversations like that.
Like what do you want to, what's on your bucket list, bud?
What's your five-year plan?
I know the one thing is what Dan has like that day for the show.
I know nothing else about his life.
I don't like to plan things too far ahead.
One day at a time.
Yeah, it's very Belichickian of me, right?
You're trying.
Yeah, I'm trying.
I'm out at the hospital.
You've got news on that front as they appear to be in serious hot water out in North Carolina way.
Why?
They're 1 in 0.
They are 1 in 0, and he's able to compartmentalize all this other stuff that the media makes up and tries to...
In his son's health condition.
throw it down.
Poor son.
In the event that you're going to be accused of being the result of a nepotism hire,
is it good if you can get suspended and no one really notices you're gone and things actually get better?
I don't think that is good.
Like Steve Belichick, they're not exactly missing him.
But, yeah, the investigation has resulted in Michael Lombardi resigning.
He was already on leave.
And now they say that...
That's the highest paid GM in college football.
They have GMs now.
They call them GMs.
Yeah, and they should.
But they kind of, they were calling themselves the 33rd team.
Yeah.
But apparently Steve Belichick was like selling drugs, the players.
It's a two-year plan.
There's some sex involved in there.
Selling or giving?
Don't know.
Okay.
Don't know.
But he always like yacked out of his mind on television.
Yeah, you know, it's intense.
When you sleep in the office, you know, watching film all night, that's what happens.
Yeah.
Isn't that a good excuse?
Can't you sell that?
So basically Sabin is right now still kind of the idyllic image of Sabin is intact.
He's got his, right, his old wife that is actually his age.
Miss Terry.
And they're still married.
And that's kind of sad because isn't he kind of like a big A-hole?
If he's the now ideal college coach that everyone's looking up to
because he hasn't done anything terribly wrong with his life.
I mean, Belichick was the big A-hole too, right?
Yeah.
And then...
I think the thing is, is that you're okay with them being an A-hole if they fully live it.
Like, if their whole thing is that they are super, super disciplined and their military-like,
then you're like, okay, that's how you are.
But if you're like that at work and then a video comes out of you climbing out of a woman's window
shirtless trying to escape...
People love that.
sex with a 19-year-old that nobody wants you to know about.
Like now, I feel like you're speaking out of both sides of your mouth maybe.
Yes.
You love to see it when a Holt gets busted.
Whoa.
That sounded terrible.
Yeah, no.
But we are at Fairlees' physical location, and it's Friday.
And it's football time.
It is Friday.
It's football.
So we'll have Jared Sandler on today, the Sandlot.
Sandlot football.
That's a thing, right?
People have said that.
Okay, so that's what we're doing this week. And every week, throughout the football season.
Thursday is going to be picks. Friday is going to be Jared. Every Tuesday will be the Brandon
Aubrey program. Every Tuesday, except for like half of the weeks that they play on Thursday, right?
Yeah, I feel weird even putting a day on that. But I'll let you.
His free day. Correct. Every week we will have a Brandon Aubrey show. He will join us.
He's got a fairly speaking. Will it match up with his kind of?
Coach's lazy day.
Did you guys know?
He's got a Fair Lease vehicle.
I'm wearing, we shot some video with him for some Instagram stuff that you can watch for
soon on your feed.
And I am wearing the very jersey he was wearing.
Wow, his nips have touched where your nips are touching.
That's right.
So I just kind of feel like, I don't know, I drove over here in this and I stopped off at a
couple of junior highs to just kick the few field goals.
Just work it out.
Well, yeah.
The shock collar they make you wear it and go off.
It'd be calling me.
I just saw the uprights and I feel like I could kick something through there.
And I did.
It would have been really cool if when the two of you guys were doing this,
you would have been like, hey, there's a third one of us.
He's just not here right now because we get a third football jersey for the third guy.
I guess we could train it for all the stuff you brought us back from Hawaii.
I think I did bring Blake water.
Which was, my wife, that's a whole other fight.
How'd you get that?
I checked the bag.
She's like, what?
Just to bring black water?
I'm like, yeah, it's the only way I can get it back.
And that was a whole fight, but whatever.
I was winning a lot of fights, so.
Yeah, but.
I feel like I'd cause a lot of fights between you two, and I'm sorry.
Oh.
That was a big addition.
And he's not rushing in to say, no, no, no, you're cool.
Well, I was thinking through it.
I don't, I think you think that, but also you're a friend that helps a lot, you know, by being,
fairly absent as a spouse and father.
It is someone that I can always look at and be like,
dude, I got to be at that level.
This guy's family's gone.
This guy's family might as well be.
Yeah.
Thank you for recognizing I set a low bar for the two of you.
Yes.
It's true.
And it's just like I was telling Dan before the show this weekend,
you know, we're not doing a show on Monday.
We will have a Tuesday through Friday week.
Because what is Monday, Dan?
The Memorial Day is May Memorial Day, Labor Day.
Yes, I'm going to do that every time, just like Winston Wolf and spelling McConaughey.
So we'll be off Labor Day.
We were going to have people over to the pool on Sunday.
That was my wife's big plan.
Yeah.
But my wife didn't know that Sunday is Fantasy Draft Day.
Oh.
For many of us.
Because I don't participate in fantasy draft.
What's the buy week before the regular season?
Dude.
So.
I have been taking in the action is the GEOPLE.
It is a seven, it was three shows, but Blake stitched them together.
Yeah, it's a magazine.
A seven-hour show, and I am, it's awesome.
These guys know their fantasy.
Mike Marshall is.
But I don't like to talk about it because then other guys in my fantasy league will listen to it.
That's tricky.
It's on our feed.
So it's on our YouTube page, or it's on our lookup action is the juice.
Sorry.
He's got his, he knows his stuff.
No, but so I don't do that.
I don't do fantasy football.
So I'm just saying that much like with golf, if you're a guy who's looking for things that you can get out of and use his credits.
Like now I have a whole day.
It's good to know golf friend.
That's the thing.
And especially if your wife knows his wife.
Yes.
That's what I'm saying.
Then it's like he's gone four or five hours every Saturday.
Yeah.
And where are you?
At home.
I'm not doing this fantasy thing.
I guess I'll just hang out.
So you don't do fantasy and you don't do golf.
I don't do fantasy football.
No, yeah, I don't.
You're kind of, I mean, it's kind of perfect.
Like, that's the perfect husband right there.
Now, it turns out I'm going to need about a month off.
If things get too hot, you'll have to send me away for a month.
Right.
Yeah, but now he's always around.
I find ways, no.
I'll get little side quests.
He's out of the house every day for work, like a decent amount of time, four to five hours.
He's there for bedtime.
He's there for morning drop-off.
he's there for pickup if needed.
I think that's like the perfect setup.
And then you're not gone every weekend all day, Saturday, and or Sunday for golf.
I think he is the perfect.
Because the fantasy isn't just the draft.
It's the staring at your phone for the entire football season.
They're not even present anymore.
And obsessing over every little thing that happens with your league.
And then your wife doesn't know anything about what's going on in your brain with your phone,
with your friends.
You just have to sit there.
And if you say anything about it, you get in trouble.
If you say anything about the golf, you get in trouble.
So we just have to sit there and deal with all of it.
That sounds awful.
I am just, I mean, not that this has happened to me or anything,
but this is what I've heard about golf and fantasy football.
It's a beat down.
I spend most of my time just talking about charity.
Right.
He's the perfect husband.
One more thing you could throw on it, so no golf, no fantasy football.
Uh-huh.
Also, watch this.
Drum roll, please.
See?
Okay, I'm not speaking to that.
What?
What do you mean?
Anyway, we're out here at Fairleash.
I kind of walked into that without knowing what I was doing.
Oh, gosh, Dan.
Hopefully that's not the reaction that is elicited when that's, you're so funny down there.
Stop.
Take off the snorkel.
I'm going to go take a lap and look at the cars.
Yeah, it's about sports time.
You may want to.
We are going to do sports out here today because...
I really might.
I'll be back.
Do we have our guy?
Yes.
Yep.
We do have our guy.
All right.
We'll call it this.
From the wonderful world of sports, radio sports, scoreboard.
Oh, yeah, I like that.
Maybe we'll get a little intro made for Jared Sandler.
But Jared Sandler joins us now.
We've been certainly well.
He is.
You may know him from the Texas Rangers.
back when they were on TV and you could find them.
But we know him now as joining us every Friday for Sandlot football, the great Jared Sandler.
We heard.
Dan, since...
Oh, I'm sorry.
Well, no, since you opened that toothpaste tube, I just thought I'd let everyone know that, you know,
while I'm incredibly sorry for all the people who lost their jobs at Victory Plus, that's first and foremost,
this is exactly why the Rangers made the switch when we did, or I say we, I had nothing to do with it.
What if on September 3rd, there was no way to watch the Rangers via streaming platform.
That would really suck, right?
So it's the whole...
Victory Plus is dead now?
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
And I didn't realize it was fully dead.
I knew the stars had announced they were...
Well, it is the star.
I don't know. Am I losing my mind? Why do they, why does everyone keep putting this in the press releases like to obfuscate what is happening here?
I wasn't going to bring this up, but I also want to go back to when the stars went on for free.
And the Mavs had to charge people. And all the people in the Mavs were taking it in the dick because the stars are free. It's free.
How are they making this free? What happened?
They didn't know what? None of those people had a clue what they were doing. And we talked to some of them and I knew it the entire time.
I'd say this too about the payment stuff.
And I love hockey.
I'm a huge star stand.
This is not a shot at...
Did you just...
I have a black friend, the sports world?
No, no, no, no.
Because I know a couple of black guys.
All right?
What I'm about to say is that the stars aren't in a position.
Hockey teams, especially domestic hockey teams,
and one's not in hockey crazy markets,
really are not in a position to take on a huge rights fee.
Like, that's just not...
They don't have that value.
So I'm saying that because it's not like I'm the...
Oh, you don't like hockey, so you don't care.
No, I love hockey.
I'm a huge hockey fan.
But I can also recognize that hockey doesn't have that leverage.
So the MAVs charge because the MAVs otherwise could make money, you know, if they were to sell their rights, right?
So like that is, it is, I hate to say it, it is a more valuable product.
Same with the Rangers.
The Rangers baseball, a more valuable product.
There are, you know, more eyeballs, more ears.
And so, you know, I hated that as well when the MAVs got, you know, got criticized for charge.
while the stars did it. It was great that the stars did that. But they would not have done that if
there was a honeypot of money waiting, you know, at the other end of the street. There just wasn't.
And so it made sense for them to go about it this way. Now, as to why victory didn't work out,
I'm not smart enough to know that. It's not a good situation. Again, like it's, we're all
trying to figure out the RSN stuff. And we haven't. And I don't know what it's going to look like in
a year, three years, five years, but ultimately, while the buzzer situation I know isn't perfect
to everyone, because not everyone has access on this or that, it's a whole lot better than not
having anything. And that's why the switch was made. And it's not like you can just flip a switch
and all of a sudden like, oh, victory dissolves on September 2nd. Well, we're going to have a solution
on September 3rd. There would be no streaming the rest of the regular season. And so that's
ultimately why the decision was made when it was made. Once again, Jared is right.
he told us this a month ago
but he's often right
just ask him
I'll let you know
anyway
we're not here to talk about
where the stars are going to be
broadcast I just want to know this out of the gate
what is your football
exposure
like what is your picks
pool like what all are you in
I got another text from Kevin this morning
yeah I thought I
Did I not type stop to opt out of these?
I didn't get into that yet.
I was planning on that today.
But I just wanted to read that to Blake.
Good.
Just so many picks and pools.
Did you get invited into KT's new?
No, what is it?
I'm sure it's awesome.
It's complicated.
Two leagues.
One is you pick a running back wide receiver,
tight end each week,
but you can't use that team more than once.
If he scores a TV, you get a point.
This runs through the Super Bowl.
Then there's something called the Three Strikes League.
Works like an Eliminator, but you get three strikes.
First is Anytime TV.
With one strike, you'll move to normal Eliminator and selecting teams.
And once you have two strikes, you transition to kickers.
I don't have any idea of what this means.
And I replied, I am in.
I am in just so I can talk to him about how confused I am every week when he joins us.
You're sick.
Anyway, what are you in?
Jared, because I'm in a Jared pool, too, that he pressured me to get into.
Yeah.
My response was, I'll do both, even though I had the same feeling you did, Dan, to KT.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, I'm in our Monopoly pool, right?
I'm in the pick-em thing that I run.
We have a Dumbzone Knockout League, if you want to get in on that.
I'm in.
I need to do that.
I need to do that.
Go to Dumbzone.com, and there's a knockout link up top.
Blake, did I pay you for that or did I pay you for a different one?
That one's mine.
Okay.
Oh, Blake has his own knockout league?
Okay.
Yep.
It was a personal league, but thanks for that cat's out of the back.
Thanks, Jared.
I'm in Harlan, you know Harlan, the sports guy?
Did you see what happened to Bill Simmons?
I'm in Harlan, the sports guys.
Yes.
What?
Bill Simmons was just shooting the shit about his daughter's boyfriend placing a bet for him.
Oh, yeah.
I cut that audio.
Yeah.
You want to hear it later.
Well, the next day, he's like, apparently that's illegal.
So.
Oh, he did address it?
Yeah.
Did he get in trouble for that one?
Well, I think they said, yeah, we're going to have to.
He's in, yeah, three years or what?
He'll do more time than Ethan Couch.
You're in a, oh, God, bingo.
You're in a league with Harlan?
He has a loser's league.
So it's the same as a knockout league, but you have to pick a loser.
What is wrong?
Do you guys not just like, I had no idea how bad this has gotten.
So I'm in like seven or, like I have a sheet.
This is insane, dude.
This is insane.
This is insane.
This was last year's bit.
I have to add a couple more now.
I was going to.
Like weekly, I have to go in weekly and just make sure I do everything.
This is a take that's going to piss people off because it's way more arrogant than I normally even am.
You guys are losers.
You don't love football.
Do you not love just watching ball?
Just watch football.
Why are you having to put a ball gag?
and like a Sibian and like all these
This is really more invested.
Crazy like add-ons.
You were the king of asking your wife to put a digit somewhere.
What do you mean?
But it's football though.
That's what you need that for like baseball or for some.
This is football in Europe.
We just want a little juice.
We don't need to spice it up like all right.
Just a little juice.
What are you?
A losers pool.
What are we talking about?
I might win like 80 bucks at the end of the year on that.
Okay.
Do you have like, how do you keep track of all it?
I'm legitimately interested.
This is my, how I keep track.
And then I highlight it or I whatever, italicize it.
I just have all my lists.
This is last year, like I said.
That's like 10 things.
Right.
So every Friday or Thursday, I got to make sure, okay, did that knockout.
I sent Blake my text, our show knockout.
It's great.
And in a couple of my knockout leagues, I just bought four entries, too.
Oh, my gosh.
Yeah, that's only 20 bucks.
So I would do that.
I would do that.
And then I would be the bitch shit who would then have the same, like, oh,
certainly this team's not going to lose this week.
So I'll just do it for all four.
Right.
And you're out of the whole thing now.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like, that's what I would do.
So I stick to one.
Well, what are your big themes in making your picks?
Do we want to go division by division first?
Yeah, so today, I mean, I'm sure Jared has a play or two he'd like to tell us about for
the college football weekend.
But today we thought with the NFL coming up, we don't have major picks this week.
Let's go over our division winners, that kind of thing, the four of us here.
And just get it written down so at the end of the year we can bask in our glory how we actually pick the right division winners and Super Bowl.
We'll pick our Super Bowl today as well.
So did you have a question about that to him?
I can't interrupt you on that.
No, I want to do that for sure.
I know he usually comes into the year with like a couple things he's like, I don't know,
almost like the Jared intro chapter to the football season.
I didn't know if there was anything you were burning on that you wanted to address.
For the NFL, or college.
Either way.
Either way.
Yeah, I don't know that there's a, I mean, I think like Oregon is my pick on the college side
to win the national championship.
I think you can get it at seven, seven and a half to one.
I just think they're the best team in the country.
So I like Oregon.
And then on the NFL side, I'm trying to think of any particular theme.
I don't know that there's one that's burning right now,
other than I think we're going to find out pretty quickly
how much the strength of schedule influenced the Patriots last year
because it's easy to say, and I do believe this.
I believe the Patriots are, I think I might have shared this with you guys a month or so ago.
I took the Patriots under and wins.
And a part of that is because I do think that they benefited from a really easy
strength of schedule.
Drake May was not nearly as good against, like, above average to good defenses or better,
and he's going to have a much tougher road this year.
But at the same time, guys who win sometimes just figure out ways to win, right?
Like we always early in Brady's career looking for reasons why it wasn't going to be replicated the next year or the next year.
And maybe that's the case.
I think we're going to figure that out pretty quickly.
And then with Patrick Mahomes, similar to Brady as well, people kind of doubting the chiefs to some extent.
You know, Mahomes coming off the injury.
How good are they really going to be?
But again, we have these conversations with Tom Brady.
And if you think Patrick Mahomes is that level of elite, like one of the all-time greats, those guys find ways to.
to win. And Tom Brady continued to do it, no matter if the three of us were his receivers or
if he had a receiver you'd heard of like Randy Moss and then Grong. And so I'm just curious to see how
the Rams or the chiefs do, also now having Kenneth Walker and maybe having like a viable
running back, which they really haven't had here in the last couple of years. I think the Patriots thing
is very interesting because they're adding A.J. Brown. And I think it's the perfect team.
And even if they're taking a step back elsewhere, Drake May to me is just white Jalen Hertz right now.
He's living on three routes, but they got him a guy who can just go deep.
So it's almost like with Dak early in his career, you know, they gave him things to ease into being a, like Drake May 5 years from now may be great.
I thought he was wildly overrated last year.
But that A.J. Brown thing is going to be huge for them.
And then I do love an NFL storyline like the Chiefs,
like an actor that just went away for a season in the middle of a series.
And then they show back up.
You're like, oh, yeah, I forgot.
Because that's nowhere near over.
There's no reason to think that at all.
Well, I mean, have they really improved their roster overall that much?
Recording in progress.
Huh.
Sorry.
Is that the feds?
No.
Maybe.
Internet.
Huckup.
Hickup.
Sorry.
We're in the Internet.
We're at Fairleys.
That's right.
Right, you know what?
Fairlease.org is on the internet.
That was a virus that just came by.
Right.
No, I mean, it's a point made, but the Kenneth Walker thing, I think, is interesting.
And like Jared said, they've been able to figure it out plenty of times before.
I think that their defense is still pretty good.
Yeah, the Kenneth Walker thing is interesting.
You wonder, did he get the, you know, Super Bowl MVP overrating?
I mean.
I'm comparing him to Fern because that's who they've had playing running back, despite their best efforts.
They've never really been able to consistently.
And some of that is Andy Reid as well.
You guys want to start with the NFC?
NFC East?
We want to get right to it?
No foreplay?
Just jump right down there.
Of course, we had the Eagles for the first time in, what was it, 20-some years repeated as NFC East champions?
So we got that out of here.
Personally, I'm going Eagles to win the division,
and I am not taking another playoff team.
I went through the Cowboys record.
Schedule.
Schedule.
I could get to 9 and 8 if I try,
but I'm going 8 and 9 on the Cowboys schedule.
I just don't see them making the playoffs.
What say you guys?
Well, I mean, I guess it's more
We could talk about this for three months
But how do you think they get to that record?
You want me to go?
No, no, no, no, not that.
But more like that to me
would mean that their defense was still just abhorrent
Or you're just sort of baking in like Dax probably heard
I don't know that the defense is going to be that much better
I really think Micah changed things so much
A guy like that
I mean, you saw what the Rams are ready to do
just to get Miles Garrett, and they gave up Jared Verse.
The Cowboys would have never gave up Jared Verst.
What does Micah have to do with anything?
That's like a completely different group of players he was playing with.
Like, Micah wouldn't be playing with the group of players they had here.
I'm not sure that I believe that interior defensive line strength is going to make the cornerbacks who suck that much better.
I think Micah did, or Micah and DeMarcus Lawrence.
Sure.
You got to remember, they both left.
You know, you lost, that's what everybody does talk about last year.
You lost Micah.
Yeah, but you also lost to Marcus Lawrence.
The other guy wouldn't hope went to win a Super Bowl.
Yeah.
Pretty big deal too.
So also with the Cowboys, you know, schedule, you know, a fun thing to do every year is look that the NFC East is playing the AFC South.
Not that difficult.
And the NFC West.
Extremely difficult.
So, you know, that's what I got.
That's me.
Don't get mad at me.
No, I'm not getting mad at me for just laying down the logic.
Yeah, I mean, obviously I'm taking the Cowboys to win, and I'll put the Eagles as a wild card.
Blake?
I got the Cowboys in the division, and...
What a Homer?
I guess you've got to go on there playing every week.
Yeah, give me the Eagles on the Wild Card.
All right.
Sandlock?
I think the Cowboys make the playoffs.
I think the Cowboys made the playoffs.
I have them as a wildcard team, Eagles winning the division,
but I do like the Cowboys as a value bet to win the division at plus 170.
And then I think they might be 13 to 1 to win the NFC.
And, you know, if things click, like that's not a horrible.
Like, to me, that's not a horrible, if you want to throw a little bit on that,
like I don't think you're just throwing your money away.
You might, well, if they don't get there, you're throwing your money away, sure.
but I do think that the Cowboys have the capacity to get there.
And I would not be surprised that they won the division.
But I can't do it yet.
I have the Eagles winning the division,
but I do have the Cowboys making the playoffs,
and I like the Cowboys over nine and a half wins.
In the NFC North, very strong division.
Perhaps the strongest.
Perhaps the strongest.
We had the Lions missing the playoffs last year, right?
The NFC North is going to play the AFC East and the NFC South.
Is that right?
Yeah.
I have the Lions returning to prominence coming back to win that division.
I also have the Packers making the playoffs.
And I also have the surprising Vikings.
making the playoffs.
I like KOC a lot.
I think he's going to be what
Kyler Murray needs.
And although I think
Ben Johnson is awesome,
I'm seeing the Bears take a step back.
They will not make the playoffs this year.
Did I say that because T.C.'s here?
I don't know. I may have.
I'm interested in this concept
that Kevin O'Connell is what
Kyler Murray needs when Kyle the Kyler Murray's been able to run whatever offense
Kyler Murray maybe that's your point is that he needs a coach but Cliff was
coaching him I just think he kind of doesn't care enough but I don't know I I'm surprised
that you have faith in Kyler Murray at this point I guess I'm taking the Bears to win the
division and I'll take the Lions as a wild card Packers and Vikings out
Okay, so for the second division in a row, you take the guy, you take the team to win the division that is not in my playoffs.
Correct.
What a battle we have.
Yeah, he did.
I'm with Dan.
I think the Lions come back.
They just had a hiccup year after Ben Johnson left.
Jimmy Dan Campbell's back taking the division with the Packers in the wild card.
Who's the Lions OC now?
I don't think it matters.
Jim Bob Cooter.
Drew Petsing.
Drew Petsing.
Oh, yeah.
All slinging around Drew.
Oh, that's right.
They were kind of interested in kicking the tires on David Blow, right?
And that's why they elevated him in Washington.
That's right.
Okay.
Yeah.
There you go.
Okay, so you said Lions win it?
Packers Wildcard.
Packers Wildcard.
Jayrod?
So the Bears defense is awful.
But you guys know that I love Caleb Williams.
I love the Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson, combo.
So I got Detroit winning the division.
I got the Bears getting in the playoffs.
Always love the ice man.
I have the Packers missing the playoffs the first time in a little bit.
What a sandbagger.
That is.
Change the name from San Lodge.
No, no.
That's the open I'm going to make.
The sandbag pick of the week.
Sandbag pick of the week.
pick against the Packers every week.
Or the Trojans.
Yeah, maybe I just, I see the flaws.
But I think they're the third best team of the division.
And so I don't see this division getting three playoff teams.
It's tough for me to justify putting the Packers.
We go to the NFC South, one of the worst divisions in football.
The worst might battle the AFC South, right?
if you're looking for
aren't there places you could bet on most losses in the division
it sounds like you guys would know
somehow I'm not in that pool
junkies
I see some buzz about the Saints
that's exciting would love to see that happen
man I do not get that at all
I'm not getting it because
the Falcons are a mess
the Panthers backed into the playoffs
Like that was a that's a fake playoff team right from last year
That's an easy one to say that won't make the playoffs this year
But you know who what didn't make the playoffs
It was a it was just injuries it was a lot of
Tough luck things conspired against him somehow
But he'll be back
This is right when no one believes in him this cycle
This is where the cycle is right
No one believes in him
It's signed his team isn't giving him a contract
things, you know, this is where Baker Mayfield thrives.
Do I already have an MVP?
I think I do.
I think when he came out with that audio where he was mad at the ownership for not giving
him a contract, I went in that day and got great value.
You did the right thing.
So, yes, our MVP will lead us to the playoffs for sure.
The Buccaneers will win the division.
No other playoff teams there.
Wow.
I don't think that's a while.
Isn't that the chalk?
What do you got?
That's what I've got.
I just think, you know, the Baker framing.
I'm going to take the Panthers to win the division
and no other teams here to make the playoffs.
Yeah, give me bucks.
I'm a Dan.
Not so much Baker MVP,
but the division stinks and they're decent.
I think the Panthers started to put something together last year.
I mean, they seem to be able to run the ball pretty well.
But you're forgetting Rico Dowdell left.
I don't think it has, I think Rico Doudal is a guy.
as teams are finding out, you can, if you have a good offensive line.
But we'll see.
No other playoff teams there that kind of tips a little bit of the hand on the NFC West.
Jared?
Yeah, I got the Panthers winning the division, no other playoff teams.
I think the Bucs are a little old.
And I agree, Jake.
I think the Panthers are, they're not great in a different division.
They don't win it.
But I like him, and I especially like the value in the bad.
They're plus $3.50 to win the division.
for such a bad division that I don't think anyone's going to run away with.
There's definitely not like, even if you like the Bucks,
and maybe they end up winning 13 games.
I don't know, but it'd be tough to look right now and say,
I think the Bucks run away with this division and no one comes close.
And I do like the Panthers.
So I like the value of that bet, but I did think that they win the division.
All right, and then the NFC West, possibly the best division in football.
You know, you can argue it.
The Cardinals will have something to say about trying to bring them down, though,
as they're probably the favorite, if not the Browns,
for the number one overall pick next year.
For March to Arch.
Is that what we're going with?
No.
I like it.
Let's go.
You just come up with that?
Brilliant.
Anyway, Rams are the heavy favorites.
Everybody loves the Rams.
loves the Rams folks. They got Miles Garrett, what's his name just came out of
retired. Aaron Donald will be there. Their, you know, answer to, you know,
their 20 snap a guy, snap a game guy or something just to just to come in for
past rushes. Certainly, you know, a Matthew Stafford injury away from real tough times,
but
they got a guy?
Not only do they have a guy
or who are you saying?
Ty or Stetson Bennett?
You like Stetson Bennett enough
as a backup?
I don't,
but I believe that those sorts of teams,
McVeigh teams and stat like
I think a lot of those players
are fungible in one game scenarios,
you know?
I think you can get you through a game,
get guys open.
The coach helps too, right?
Yeah.
I think what you said about McVeigh,
I think if it's Stets and Bennett
with Phil and the Blank coach.
I don't know that it feels good about Stets and Bennett with Sean McVeigh.
I think, like, that's Matt LaFleur has done a great job.
Like, I don't know if Malik Willis has been any good.
Matt LaFleur made Malik Willis a shit ton of money
because he was able to put him in positions to succeed when Jordan Love was at.
And I think that McVeigh is obviously cut from a similar cloth.
And I love, McVeigh, I love.
Everybody loves McVeigh.
Why wouldn't they?
So the Rams will win the division.
I tried to talk myself, I was trying to make it so the Seahawks can't make the playoffs,
and I couldn't do it.
So the Seahawks also in the playoffs in my book,
and that's it, though.
49ers will be on the outside looking in,
looking up at that power plants,
wondering why they're all injured.
Dude, speaking of that,
what a crazy story on the difference in trips to Australia.
I wanted to get into that today.
You want to do that right here?
Yeah, you have a moment.
I didn't read the whole story, but.
Yeah, so the Rams and 49ers are starting the season in Australia.
I think the 49ers already went over.
Correct.
They went over yesterday, which actually is five days ago because of the international
dateline.
Whatever.
Right.
They've never played a game in Australia before, so there's no template.
But they're going over a week early to get acclimated.
But I guess the time zone isn't off by that much.
Like it's a 15-hour flight, but I think your body clock.
Is that what you were reading?
Man, I don't know.
You're a, you're, we need her all about for this.
You travel the whole time zone, but then it'll only be, like, you'll kind of spend a whole day in the plane almost.
Sure, I guess that makes sense.
But so McVeigh is, you know what, we're going the day before.
We're just acting, we're, we're, we're acting like we're not going on a vacate, you know, like the 49ers are going to be there.
They're going to be mingling and, you know, they're going to see some sights.
They're going to.
With kangaroos.
Yeah.
the Rams are going.
They're going from the bus to the hotel,
sleep on your normal schedule.
You know, it would be like,
I think I was reading it.
It'd be like a 5 p.m. West Coast game.
So their bodies will be a 5 p.m. West Coast start.
And that's the way they're just going to do it.
So he's going to, it is a very interesting thing.
I mean, I'm sure they both have science telling them that this is the way.
But, man.
Well, two of the most coaches that you would guess have really done some work on this.
I don't know if you guys followed up at all on the work that people did looking into the substation,
but there's a dude. Do you remember John Boyce, SB Nation Days?
He has a blog now, and it's great, and he did like a really exhaustive breakdown of the 49ers injuries.
Guess what? They practice harder than everyone else, and they always have.
like he pulled together
hundreds of quotes
of guys coming from one team to another
or from college to there
just being like they fucking thump out here
like we don't this they just practice
harder here he doesn't let anybody
take plays off he doesn't let anybody
take days off he runs his team
into the ground and like
surprise they're hurt all the time
so if there's a blame
it's possibly a blame on the way
they do things they do things differently
It's also kind of hard to argue with the results.
It is not because of a power plant,
although it is very funny that their hotel in Australia
appears to be next to a substation.
Oh, really?
Possible Photoshop.
I don't know, but it's very funny looking.
But I will retweet and just take,
I'll take the Rams and the Seahawks as well
with the Rams winning it.
Boring.
I only have six for you.
Oh, I thought I gave you seven.
Cowboys, Bears, Lions, Panthers, Rams, Seahawks?
I thought I had seven, but I will then put the 49ers in.
Okay.
Because I wanted the Cardinals out, but I thought I had seven.
I'll go back and look.
I've got the 49ers winning the division.
They were very depleted last year and still made some ruckus in the playoffs.
Maybe their muscles get used to the substation.
I don't know.
I think it's the year of Chanahan.
Shanhan.
I too think the Seahawks miss the playoffs.
I think they just hit on everything last year.
Donald had his year, but I'm not buying that he can do it two years in a row.
They're all high and mighty on hard knocks.
They're going to fall back down to Earth.
So I've got the Rams and the Wild Card.
Maybe they got off to a slow start, Stafford, with the MVP last year, Donald, Garrett,
but they figured out late and win the wild card.
You had the guts to do it.
I didn't.
All right, I'm changing my pick.
49ers in the playoffs, Seahawks out.
No, I got to keep what I said on that first.
Sorry.
I was getting wishy-washy there.
Jared?
Stay washy.
I reverse Blake.
The Rans winning the division, the 49ers making the playoffs, the Seahawks missing.
I agree with Blake on Darnold, plus Darnold's getting a good, you know, he's lost,
Quint-Cubiac.
The Seahawks said some secondary losses to,
free agency. And if you go back and look at their schedule last year, they had a nice little run
of backup quarterbacks, and they didn't really dominate some bad quarterbacks either.
And so, yeah, I just don't, there to, like, I don't look at them and say, yeah, they suck.
They're not a good team. I just, if the trend, which is time tested in the NFL holds where you have
a certain amount of teams that make the playoffs one year and dealt the next year, and it's kind of a
surprise, the Seahawks to be a perfect candidate to be one of those teams. So 49ers bounce back,
wild card, and the Rams win the division. Yeah, Jay, that's how I tried to look at it, is whether it's
40 or 60 percent miss from the year after they make the playoffs, I try to look at the teams who
won a lot of close games. And for those, it was the Bears and the Seahawks. And so I think they're
easy candidates to fall out of the playoffs. Yeah, I agree. And the reason the reason I'm sticking with
the Bears, I just didn't have a quarterback on the rise, whereas I think last year, the Seahawks
got the very best that they're going to get for a full season out of Sam Darnold. And I just don't,
like with Caleb, the arrows pointing up, plus the combination of Ben Johnson, Sam Darnold,
to me, the arrow is not pointing up, plus he's lost his offense coordinator, I think, made a
significant, tangible difference. And so that's why I'm not as high on the Seahawks.
the AFC East
They'll play the NFC North and the AFC West
That's tough
And I have
Like I said I was trying to talk myself into
Actually both Super Bowl teams
Like which one won't make the playoffs
Initially I had both of them out of the playoffs
I put Seattle back
But I've taken the Patriots out
So I have just the bills from the AFC East
Going to the playoffs with a new head coach
Yeah I do as well
just because of the schedule with AFC West, AFC North,
you're taking just the bills expecting the...
I would have thought the Patriots made your close games list, Blake.
But definitely weak schedule.
Even with A.J. Brown, I'm having a miss.
And just, I don't know how the locker room could rally
and even respect a guy like Mike Grable anymore, you know?
I mean, he possibly cheats on his wife?
Yeah, I heard that that's really causing problems
in an NFL locker room.
Yeah.
No, I've got both Super Bowl teams missing the playoffs,
and Internet said this has happened a few times.
It's happened five times in NFL history
where both Super Bowl teams have missed the playoffs the next year.
I think it happens again.
I've only got the bills in the AFC East.
Sandlot?
Yeah, I got the bills, only the bills.
I think the Patriots do for a little regression.
I don't think they're like a fluke and booked.
I just cover schedule this year.
They got a really rough run of games in the middle of their
schedule, step back, and only one playoff team of that division.
Well, I forgot about the Dolphins when I said it's probably the Browns and the Cardinals
looking for the first pick.
And I guess I shouldn't throw the jets, elevate them too high either.
What do they got going?
Gino Smith?
Yeah.
Aaron Glenn.
Not much.
What are we doing?
Why do we sign, if we want a tank, maybe Aaron Glenn doesn't want a tank.
Maybe he's like, I'm going to get fired if we don't win a few games.
So I'm going to get Gino Smith.
Yeah, I mean, it worked for Seattle for a couple years.
If you've got a perfect roster around it, you might be able to get to eight or nine wins.
But I'm not, I just don't understand.
You saw last year without a perfect roster.
Yeah, I don't understand them and the Saints to me.
Like, why are you even playing?
What's the point?
Is this guy, do you really think this guy's the future?
You don't like Tyler Shuck?
Absolutely not.
Okay.
Well, you want to make a Cam Ward bet?
No, I'm not as high on Tyler Shuck as you clearly are on Cam Ward.
I'm getting...
Or at least you guys were, because you got sucked in by Hard Knocks, right?
I think he's good.
A little bit.
Okay.
But I just want to keep my credential.
The AFC North?
You've been credentialed.
What are the Brown's value to win the AFC North?
I bet that'd be great.
25 to 1 around there.
Okay, well, I like the Ravens to win the division.
I like the Bengals to be the Cowboys of the AFC.
Let's go.
As they do have a quarterback and two great receivers,
and all they had last year was just such a horrible defense,
although they've got a pretty bad offensive line, too, from what I understand.
but I do have them getting into the playoffs too.
I really wanted to talk myself into the Steelers.
I want to see all Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rogers make one last run,
but I don't know.
Boy.
I just couldn't do it.
I loved the experience of watching Peak Aaron Rogers,
even though it was usually happening to my team,
but there is nothing that would make me happier than the league sending those two
F. Tards out on like a 3 and 14 record. Just Jesse Mentor, just you're confused. You don't know
what's going on out here anymore, Mike. And I hope that this is like legacy ruining for them.
I hope they both have a very bad time because they deserve it together. Not like they're bad guys.
McCarthy? Why are you against McCarthy? Because he was the coach here and now he's not.
Okay. He's on the enemy list.
What's your division?
I'm going to go Ravens winner,
and I will also give the Bengals a wild card.
I think the Ravens are going to be really good.
I kind of think Harbaugh is a little,
not a fraud, but I think there's a lot.
I think the institution had a lot more to do with it than John Harbaugh.
You had Trey Hendricks, and I think they're going to be good.
I don't, I think John Harbaugh is no Jim Harbaugh.
Correct.
I think the other Harbaugh is much better.
I'm copying Jake.
I'm a big fan of Jesse Mentor.
Lamar was injured and not great last year.
They're going to bounce back.
And their defense was atrocious.
And so even if they get back to normal, even maybe.
The Ravens.
Yeah, even the top 10-ish defense that they're capable of.
I think they could be really good.
So Ravens to win the division, and I like the Bengals.
Joe Burrow has to get back to being good at some point.
I think it'll be this year.
Jared?
Give me the Bengals to win the division, the Ravens to make the playoffs as a wild card.
I don't know if Lamar will stay.
Like, he is a health concern for me now the rest of his career.
And so I could see the Bengals winning the division
because Lamar misses three or four games
and that ends up being the difference.
I do not think the Steelers make the playoffs.
The fact they made the play,
and I love Aaron Rogers,
but the fact they made the playoffs last year is kind of a joke.
The AFC South will play the AFC North and NFC East.
And we'll be one.
by the Houston Texans who have a very interesting quarterback situation right now, I think,
at least decision to make.
I don't know if we want to get into it here, but C.J. Stroud, it's that, I don't know,
let's talk about it a little bit.
The middle ground.
Yeah, we don't know the exact numbers that are being tossed back and forth.
Obviously, the team is always going to throw some number at you, and you don't know what's
guarantees and all that.
But they're saying they're offering him a $50 million a year contract, and he's holding
out.
He wants at least $60 million a year.
And this is one of those things where, yeah, is C.J. Stroud the next, you know, Mahomes or
Josh Allen, or I think we think he's not.
I think the Texans also are like, yeah, we gave a huge contract to our last quarterback,
and I don't know, what's wrong with just letting it play out one more?
year. I think the franchise tag is going to become more and more prevalent with quarterbacks.
Like even you're looking at DAC and you're like, yeah, they're paying him top of the market now.
And maybe the Cowboys are like, well, at least, you know, we could have had him for less,
but we had to make sure because we didn't want to be really in the hole for a guy that
that we don't believe in, you know, in the long run.
The thing that's at the backdrop of all this to me, and I think you kind of, as Blake would say,
they poo-poo it, but it's the mental side of it.
I think it does matter at that position to feel, or in any job,
but at that job a higher degree of, do they think I can do this?
Does everyone here think I can do this?
Well, is there any way to convey like, hey, obviously we think you can.
We just don't think you're Mahomes.
And somehow we can't just elevate the next guy into the highest-paid contract.
What if we slot you in at the seventh highest paid contract?
And ultimately that's what a lot of guys do.
That's what it comes down to.
But that process of getting there is a messy one.
You might have to get to another team though.
That's the thing.
Or you might just, dude, here's the thing that I think about a lot when these things happen
is we went back and watched or the gambler, right?
They put out the gambler and that showed us what the Emmett negotiations were like.
That ended and Emmett is sitting there with Jerry and Emmett looks fucking pissed.
he's not happy with how that turned out.
Jerry's like, oh, yeah, everything's great.
The player's sitting there like, I don't like this.
This sucks.
So, like, yes, it's going to get done, but nine times out of ten,
I feel like by the end of it, that whole, it's just business thing,
does not play.
There is acrimony that holds over in these things.
So the team, especially with their quarterback,
usually trying to avoid it if they can.
I would counterpoint that, for the Emmett thing, at least,
is he then did go on to.
lead the league in rushing and had the most rushing yards in NFL history after that.
Definitely.
So I don't know how.
But you're right.
The quarterback is a different position, but if you have, wouldn't your quarterback of your
dreams be able to handle that?
Yeah, and plenty of them have.
I mean, Josh Allen's not the highest paid quarterback.
Is that a mental state type of test for my quarterback?
Like, hey, if you're going to fall apart because of this, then I'm not sure I need you
in the fourth quarter of a game where training.
trailing in the Super Bowl.
Like Brock Purdy just signed a couple years ago a five-year 265.
He, yes, he accepted himself slotted into like, he can't believe where he is.
Now, of course, he was, right?
Was he Mr. Irrelevant?
What about Jared?
He was.
Yeah, but what about Jared Goff?
Yeah.
Jared Goff's making 53.
I mean, I personally.
Right.
Why can't you sign for Jared Goff money if you're C.J. Stroud?
Yeah.
We're not, and we're not sure about you, dude.
You haven't been that.
You threw four interceptions.
Didn't he throw four interceptions against the, uh, against New Year?
There might have been some fumbles.
It was disgusting.
It was an awful game.
Like I'm not, I've never really been a big Jared Gough fan independent of like thinking,
if you just had Jared Gough and everything was equal.
But I'm to a point where I would prefer golf over Stroud.
Yeah.
And Stroud, I've always like, gosh, there's something there, man.
He got to stick with this.
But he, he's, he's.
pissed himself too many times.
Yeah, I think he's going to win a lot of games this year, I think, but I don't, I mean,
they will win a lot of games, right?
They're a team and they have good defense.
Anyway, so I just like the Texans.
Jags missed the playoffs.
I love the Colts owner, but, you know, can't see them.
You know, Daniel Jones.
I don't like Daniel Jones anyway, but Daniel Jones coming off a major injury and the Titans
of the Titans.
I'm going to take the Jaguwars to,
win the division and no one else to make the playoffs.
You like the Jags, huh?
Liam Cohen?
I'm a big Trevor Lawrence guy, and I've got to double down on this to try to be right so that if I am, I'm extra right.
They were really good in the second half last year.
I think he's really good, and all of my friends think he sucks, so now I have to be here.
I'm in that camp where I think Trevor Lawrence is pretty spare.
That's another team that will miss the playoffs that made it last year.
I think, yeah, C.J. Stroud has lost it, and they're not going to be able to recover.
They're going to implode. The only team making it out of this division is the Colts,
and they're going to be the inverse of last year where they got up to, what, 8-0?
I think it's the other way around. Daniel Jones is coming off the injury.
I think they catch fire late when the division, and that's it from that division.
Wow.
And Jared's got to run, so hammer out the rest of your picks.
Yeah, you go.
Okay. So I think the Texans win the division.
but I will say that of any of the divisions,
if you want to like just be zany and take the team
that's got the steepest odds,
I would take the Titans.
I don't think they're going to make the playoffs,
but I think this division just kind of sucks.
Like I think the Texans are the best team,
but for the reasons you pointed out,
they're incredibly flawed.
And on that note, on the NFC side, the Giants,
like I don't think they're making the playoffs,
but like that's the team where it's like,
no one's picking them.
And if they were to make the playoffs,
I'd be like, you know what?
Like, if I would have looked closer at it preseason,
I could have seen that path.
I want to feel that way about the Jets.
I just think Aaron Glenn's probably one of the four worst coaches in the NFL, so I can't.
So we still have the AFC East, right?
And we did that?
No, we did the Bills.
AFC West.
Yeah, the AFC West that have the...
AFC South is what we're doing.
What did you like for the South?
Texans.
Texans.
Oh, you did Texans.
Yeah.
Yeah, and then AFC West.
Yeah, I got three teams there.
I got the Chiefs winning it, and I think the Broncos and Chargers make the playoffs.
So I think those are my seven.
and then I think this is the year the Bills get to the Super Bowl with Josh Allen
and I'm trying to talk my way out of the Rams.
I really kind of want to, I kind of want like, you know what, fuck it.
Bill's Cowboys.
I think this is the year both of those teams.
I'm not a Cowboys fan.
I think this is the year of both those teams who have not been able to push through the Cowboys,
certainly more so than the Bills.
Get in. I'll go Bill's Cowboys in the Super Bowl.
Wow, what would that look like from McDermott?
Well, you know what I was going to say is,
do you remember a few years ago,
Junior Miller did, like, an exhaustive study on coaches that have won titles,
the number of them that didn't do it in the first,
I want to say three years with a team?
Doesn't happen.
Extremely low.
What, if you don't do it in the first three years, you just don't do it?
Yeah, and so, like, with another team,
maybe it doesn't have to be your first one, but like, it's got to happen then.
Interesting.
And I don't know.
I do, the more I think about that, the message, I think, you know, that team is still really, really good, and it would look bad for McDermott.
But, you know, Mark Jackson needs company.
And Mark Jackson still gets a lot of credit for those teams.
So, yeah, that Joe Brady might be the bell of the ball.
I like the Chargers to win that division.
I like the Chiefs to get back into playoffs.
I love the Broncos, as you know.
And so I have them in the playoffs.
Three teams in that playoffs.
And if you're fast-forwarding everything, Jared, I will give you my Super Bowl teams are the Lions will be facing the Chargers.
Wow.
That's right.
Dan Campbell gets to the Super Bowl.
And I don't think I gave a pick.
The Bills over the Cowboys.
Bills over the Cowboys?
Yeah.
Okay. Give me the lions.
Bye, Jared.
And I got to run, guys. See you guys.
All right.
This is a sandlot.
Sandbag.
The sandbagging
Yeah, we'll wrap up here.
I'm going to take the chiefs to win the division.
Broncos, Chargers, Wild Card.
I do like the bills
winning a Super Bowl, and
I can't put the Cowboys
in there, can I?
Sure you can.
If you had some sack, you would.
Now, we'll go Rams.
What does it matter?
What is it matter?
What is the game?
Does it matter?
I thought you liked the Cowboys.
I would have picked him without you.
Ribs, boring pick.
We're all doing the same thing.
It's three teams out of this division.
I've got the Chargers winning it, though.
I think McDaniel and Herbert is going to be great.
And Broncos and Chiefs will be good enough to get in the playoffs.
My Super Bowl, I saw this stat where the team that opens with like a better than plus 500 odds to win the Super Bowl has never made it.
but I can't not put the Rams in there.
And I too think they'll play the bills.
I'm interested in what the best odds preseason to win a Super Bowl ever are.
I mean, I know the Rams aren't repeating,
but I feel like this roster has to be considered,
at least in the era of free agency,
like the most stacked roster of all time.
Like this just doesn't happen that often
where you can have a quarterback like that.
and all these other guys.
And obviously they've done an incredible job
from structurally drafting free.
But I wonder, I mean, this is like the freaking warriors type thing, you know?
Very weird.
It could be.
I mean, what's Aaron Donald?
You just don't know.
He hasn't played in three years.
I know, but when you don't ask guys to do as much as they did before,
like I really think it lets them do disruptive.
things. I mean, we'll see. I just, I want to
look up and see.
They've got to have
some of the best odds of all time.
Yeah, I wonder. Just
because obviously there wasn't as much parody
back in the day.
You'd have to go free agency for sure.
Did the Steeler? Yeah.
I would think one of those chiefs teams
or the Patriots
would have had
really good odds. Anyway, there we go.
94-49ers
plus 200.
Wow. And what are the Rams right now? Five.
The 94? Was that deep into free agency? Does Plan B free agency?
That would be like year one or two, if that. Because I believe it is the case that the Cowboys have not played in a conference championship game since we had real full free agency.
Yeah, and back then it was all you knew the Cowboys were playing the 49ers in the championship game.
Sure.
In the preseason.
You know, I have an article coming out next to.
week, so I referenced
listener in's
emails, and I know that this
gets tricky every time we try to talk
about the math.
Like every time you flip a coin,
it's 50% heads or tails,
but it's not 50%
each time that it's going to...
Wait, for what?
His compounding
math on the chances
that the Cowboys, if you took a purely
random NFC team over the last
30 years,
they would have a 98.2% chance of having appeared in an NFC championship game.
Just by virtue of the fact that there's 30 seasons,
some of the time there were 16 teams, some there were 15,
one out of that thousand, whatever.
Are you taking into account their record?
You can, because if you do, it gets much worse.
Yeah, because the Browns also haven't, but they've also been really bad.
In the last 30 years, the Cowboys, I think, have the ninth best regular
season winning percentage, and there are only four teams that have won fewer playoff games
in that stretch.
The Browns, the Lions, the Commanders, and someone else who sucks that I don't have in front
of me.
I think what was our stat a couple of years ago?
The Cowboys are the only team in the big four sports to have a top 10 winning record
in the regular season and not make their conference championship game.
Correct. They have multiple odds-defying streaks going right now.
Truly. It is harder to pull off what they've done than winning a Super Bowl.
Hang that banner.
The math is actually there.
What about the listener who bet us last year, we do a remote at his house?
Feel it down on my plums.
I feel like it was trying to be a convoluted bet.
Do you think he'd go for simply over 500 or under?
Because I think...
Or would we go for that, right?
You would, for sure.
You think they're going to be so great.
Yeah, and I like going to his house.
Like, would he do that?
I like him losing.
I like all of it.
Would he accept just the 9 and 8 versus 9 and 8?
9 and 8?
9 and 8?
Yeah, I mean...
Sure, whatever.
9 and 8 to 1.
Yeah.
So yes.
I wonder if he would go for that.
Because last year it was like four games under.
It's KT designed.
Yeah, well, plus we don't understand math.
I learned girl math because I have daughters.
And so I don't know how they do real math anymore.
Well, anyway, there you go.
Good times.
Good times.
I'll take a break here at Fairlease.
Sure.
Let's see if Julie's broken any more bones.
This game is a game of defense with pitching being the first line of defense.
And another thing that they didn't say on those taglines in that movie was the fact they said that the 04 Red Sox won a world championship employing Billy Bean's Sabromatrix.
Well, they forgot to tell you they had over $200 million payroll as well.
All right.
All right.
It was a movie, though.
Did you read the book, buddy ball, at least?
Did you read the book?
No, I didn't.
You know, I promised I wouldn't even, you know, read the book or see the movie.
My wife bought it.
We saw it on the way out of spring training.
But, you know, pitching, baseball is the best game ever invented because,
really, it's not played against a clock.
Okay, you can't score when you're on defense, and when you're on offense, the other team
controls the ball.
And there are things in, numbers, if you'll revisit that thing that I said, I also said
there's a place in baseball for numbers.
But I also said that it's the most overrated issue to come into baseball in the last 10
or 15 years, and I stand by that because it's not ready yet.
Down the road 40 or 50 years, when you can put some of those categories, you know,
you got your OBPS and all that and the VOR.
When they can put in TWTW and then interface those numbers with TWTW under that category,
then you might have something cooking.
TW is?
Yeah, what is that?
That's the will to win.
You're listening to The Dumb Zone.
Aaron Allen today.
Blake was pleased with our choice of location.
Collin County.
At Fairlease.
This is Blake's side of.
town where are you going tonight for high school football we are headed east out to tarrell
we have the taril tigers tonight home of willie beeman and jamey fox it's willie beaman
oh no puppet of the sharks what is this a tough test or are we going to no have a pretty easy victory
um last week they played a team from out of state
That's a whole other topic.
I don't know.
The team they lost to might not fit into the category of like IMG.
Oh, you guys lost last week?
Yeah, and Argyll just built their new $45 million stadium.
That was the first game and they lost.
Oh, no, you got to schedule a cupcake for that.
Even after scoring on the first play from scrimmage.
No, respect, though.
They scheduled a dog.
You're not going to.
Don't schedule cupcakes if you're Argyle.
I know Jake takes in the Eagles Nest podcast each week,
so he already knows all of this.
But Oak Ridge, yeah, out of Sacramento, flew into Dallas, went to the South Lake game at the Cotton Bowl.
They toured TCU, did a walk-through at SMU.
Like, it was an awesome trip if you're a high school kid.
And, yeah, so Argyll lost last week.
And then, I don't know, I think we got a plus or minus 24.5 spread tonight.
Now, when you say spread, that's a line.
The line must be, oh, okay.
Yeah, that's what I was getting here.
You have your own spread.
This is not posted.
If you're asking me, that's what I would.
No one did.
You're handicapping your own high school.
Dan asked what kind of test we have tonight.
I was saying, I don't know, this is what the sharks were saying.
So, the sharps.
We were talking a little bit yesterday about the Balmer, the Clippers, the
unprecedented suspension for Steve Balmer a year.
Yeah.
They docked them five first round picks.
Listen to Wendy and Tim McPen.
Talk about that.
Oh, that's interesting.
I'd like to hear that.
Their next first round pick is in fourth grade.
Is that right?
Yeah.
Oh, that's awesome.
So Kauai Leonard, though, when all this went down, put out a statement.
He says,
integrity and respect for this game are fundamental to who I am.
I accept full responsibility for lapses in judgment by people.
within my inner circle.
And regret the distraction of the situation has caused the fans of my family.
I entered into my contract with Clippers as well as the agreements and questioning good
faith, fully committed to fulfilling my obligations with no knowledge of any intent on anyone's
part to circumvent the salary cap.
For 15 years, my priority has been giving anything to my family the game and those I share
the court with.
You know, look forward to closing this chapter, moving forward to the clean slate.
And I guess, so Pablo Torre is just on a huge victory tour, right?
He's just lapping the stadium, high-fiving all the fans.
They're putting the microphone out there on the pitchers mound for him
to kind of go say a few words.
And then he quote tweeted there was a story that said,
you know, Kauai didn't have any knowledge of everything.
And I guess he's got a – this guy's got a lot of receipts, dude.
Mm-hmm.
He's got a receipt of Kauai Leonard signing a contract,
acknowledging that, and obviously Kauai is saying it is a guy,
my guy said, here, signed this, and I did.
Right.
My trainer gave me a substance.
So on this, though, I believe both Pablo Tori is right,
and I believe Kauai is probably right.
Don't you think, like, do you think Kauai?
knew, hey, this is getting us around the salary cap?
Man, I knew, I'd think that he knew he was getting paid a lot more than he was supposed to be getting paid by an NBA team.
So he knows I'm getting a whole bunch of shit going on.
But now you're telling me I'm signing this thing.
This is not a one-off deal.
Kwai Leonard is shady A-F.
He has been from day one.
His uncle being involved in all that stuff, the way that he got out of San Antonio.
Quiet as his people are shady.
So if they have it set up like the mafia or like Baylor football
where the Don never actually hears the words go kill the guy
But the Don knows, hey, we're making a lot of money here
I don't buy that for a second
Yeah, but he said integrity and respect from the game
Or fundamental to who I am
And do you have some backlog of information about him
Where you're like, that checks out?
Could he lie?
Like if Kevin Durant typed that, I would actually
believe it. You know, Kevin Durant's a weird, emotional guy in the media, but I believe that he
lives, dies, and breathes about basketball. I don't know. Quai's whole thing is weird to me.
I don't, I don't trust him at all, and I don't know. I feel like Tom Hardy and Mad Max, that's
bait. You just commenting on Pablo's victory lap. A guy literally tweeted me last night,
he's like, where's Jake tonight? And I was like, uh, what is it? What is he?
this in reference to, bud.
What are we talking?
And he's like, Pablo.
Big dub for Pablo, how are you taking it?
What does that mean?
Like, I'm a guy who it's like...
Did you say Pablo sucks?
Yeah, I can't stand it.
Yeah, yeah, we've all said that.
But I did not, I don't root against him like a sports...
I was shocked that someone could listen to our show and that be their takeaway that I'm
like, yeah, man.
Well, I mean, yeah, we have played Pablo Audio where it's like,
this is the cringiest thing I've ever.
heard.
Yeah, I can't stand him, but...
Possibly why?
Very, very good work.
We're in a certain state we are in this country.
Okay, so I want to play a quick thing for you before we get into weekend of fun.
Football season is here.
Last year, we told you we found a trailer for the Cowboys Hard Knocks that never made it
to air.
They shoot several of these, you know.
We've heard that from producers before.
Like, they go to four, five, six different camps and put stuff together.
And we had one last year that was for Shotty's first season.
And if you remember, we were just getting to know Brian Schottenheimer,
all of the words that he used.
He loved ping pong and putt, putt.
And that's pretty much what the focus of camp loves.
Things with two Ps, he loves.
Right.
N3F's, Faith, Family Football.
But it was all getting to know Shottie.
Then you go into this offseason.
And I really just think comparing this one to last year's is a fun exercise.
So I found actually this is the trailer for a hard knocks for this training camp for the Cowboys that did not make it.
Here we go.
The Dallas Cowboys' 2025 season ended just like it started with disappointment.
Tom Pelliserro here with some breaking news into the NFL network newsroom.
Micah Parsons is a Green Bay Packer.
Before first year head coach Brian Schottenheimer ever took the sideline, his training camp was full of distractions and drama.
We expect a player paid like Trevon to be here all the time.
That kind of hurt my feelings.
Michael Parsons.
I mean, there's not really much movement, man.
You know.
I was laying on the table in the middle of the game.
Have you had a discussion with him at all of any of that stuff?
Does that stuff matter to you?
What followed was an underwhelming first year for Schottenheimer,
or Shottie, as he demands to be called.
Maybe the fact that Gritz tattooed on my hand as something to do.
that we look at that.
Despite last year's meager win total,
you know, six, seven, six, seven.
The vibes heading into year two
could not be any higher.
I just love how quiet has been in Dallas
this off season,
but just a lot of like business being handled
and not a lot of drama.
That's right.
The Cowboys went one off season
without needlessly dominating
the headlines on a daily basis.
So what were they doing instead?
Well, it's something that I'm working on here,
you know, kind of in the back of my mind
is, you know.
Defensive coordinator Clayton Adams.
How can you really have a break room or a snack room if you don't have a hot dog fridge?
Goodbye holdouts.
And if you're going to have a hot dog fridge, you've got to have high quality hot dogs in it.
Hello, hot dogs.
Do you know that a secret miced up is a $1,000 fine and $100 donation to the hot dog fridge?
Last year.
And Jerry, as he said, doesn't speak to many agents.
I do.
This year.
And if you're going to have high quality hot dogs in it, we've got arioche buns and maybe some pretzel bonds.
Last year?
When do you just be doing more than what you've done to do that?
Hmm? This year.
And then one of the things I learned from going to Disneyland with my kids because I was trying to steam the bun, I was trying to toast the bond.
And the guy at Disneyland goes, no, man, put it in the bun and wrap it in foil and let the hot dog steam the bun.
It's been revolutionary.
Hot dog master himself.
Wonder if he's got a hot dog fridge up there.
Oh, I think Mr. Jones might have been listening when he spoke to the media after last week.
Oh, this is a guy of bun.
We need it.
How do we find this bun?
This bun.
Oh, man.
This is a hot dog bun.
I think it's a hot dog, too.
There you up.
Oh, that's great.
It's true.
It's just where does the route go?
You know, do you have it on,
Wednesday or Thursday, how many days do you need in between the, you know, the Super Bowl and
then the parade, how many days is the proper amount?
Right.
Do we do a Fort Worth one and a Dallas one?
Yeah.
Is it Arlington in between?
Is it a tour?
Everything's so handled.
Did we go around the star?
Yeah.
Did they just do a frisco thing?
Man, I had a lot of fun putting that together, but it really drove home for me.
Like, I came home from camp this year, and I just was, it was.
so chill.
I came home and just thought, boy, and we're there at the end that I know the beginning
is when all the hustle and bustle is, but it's concerning.
Dude, we were there last, no, it's concerning, but it's also just normal.
When we were at camp last year, dude, I went back and watched the entire nine minutes of
Micah and Trayvon on the field together last year, acid trip.
The two of them are just, hey, we can't, we can't wait to lead this defense.
We're both here.
We can't wait to be here a long time.
practice is happening behind them, but they're just over here kind of doing their own podcast.
Trayvon's like, pay him, pay him.
And Micah's like, he's doing everything right.
They're just back and forth, hyping each other up.
And then poof, just gone.
Now we're talking hot dogs.
I still firmly believe even all that Jerry was ready to lock him up.
Then that goes back to what you were talking about earlier, right?
You're a bit, you know, what mindset do you?
take? I mean, you've had it on the low level of radio contracts, though, where it's like you're
through the ringer and you think it's the worst thing ever, and then the big man, like the next day
after you sign it, it's like, all right, yay, things happen, things get contentious. But here we are,
ready to move forward. And you weren't feeling at that. No, no. But that's how Jerry would have
been. Had Micah not laid on the table. I think Micah Parsons is on the Cowboys right now.
and they don't all of a sudden.
I wonder how it would be.
I wonder.
I definitely wonder how it would be for a number of reasons.
One, I don't think you can,
I don't think you hire a coordinator like the one they did if Micah's here.
And I know that sounds counterintuitive.
Like wouldn't every coordinator want Micah Parsons here?
I think those, I think Micah is going to,
would have a tough time playing for a guy like that.
Would the defense have been better enough that they don't even fire Iberfruse?
Yeah, probably.
Something.
Even if they're very mid, that would have been better enough.
They were so bad.
Yeah.
But I think they deserve credit, though, for when Jerry talks about this saying,
we were not as good defensively as it looked like we were.
We had a guy, and he was making up for everything.
Now, it's his fault that it was like that,
but it still takes realizing we're punching above our weight because this guy's keeping us in it.
It'd be better if we built a foundation to where one guy is not the end.
entire operation.
That is a more modern approach to defense that we're going to be good at all three levels.
And the guy that we're overly leveraged on here, he's kind of crazy.
That also is tricky.
Now, if we weigh that all in.
Yeah.
No, if you, you would never say, I don't want a guy like that.
No, you just have to make it work right.
That's where the numbers get.
I think it's a fascinating football decision.
If you have that guy on his first contract, maybe that's where you can work on building
the whole thing around him, which they didn't do.
They should have done it immediately.
You're right.
I just think that two things can be true.
Him laying on the table was a dick whip out to try to upset his bosses
and it got emotional and about more than football.
At the same time, I think the decision they made there and everything wrapped up in it is fascinating
because it resulted in, you know, not only the Packers getting a guy that they pay that to now,
but the Cowboys getting defensive tackles and a safety.
It's a very, they made a decision.
It's just that they made that decision because they'd made several bad ones leading up to it.
But I think it's really interesting.
I can't wait to watch it.
It's been the same thing for a long time around here on defense.
Yeah.
Now we got hot dogs.
Now we got hot dogs.
What's at the food truck here at Fairleys?
Hot dogs.
Are they really?
Yeah, there's hot dogs.
Was that clean?
Probably not.
I was talking over it.
I'm sorry, Julie.
Wait.
Hot dogs!
There you go.
It doesn't hit the same, you know?
No, it doesn't.
Brisket nachos and veggie burgers.
That's what we got.
Oh, a little veggie burger?
Yeah.
You, bud.
Why does everybody look at me?
Because you're the veggie dork.
Get a free meal.
Pre-can check before we go into the news and such?
What do you got, Blake?
Anybody got anything for this?
big holiday weekend.
Friday night football.
Friday night football, got a fantasy draft on Sunday,
having some boys over.
Oh, you're the house now.
You're hosting the fantasy draft?
I'm the guy with a half cow and a grill.
Damn.
So, yep, happening spot is at my house on Sunday.
Do you kick the fam out for that?
Or do they just kind of float around?
You know, I'm kind of a single dad on the weekend,
so getting rid of her wasn't that hard.
Uh-huh.
The boys will be with me.
Okay.
So.
They're going to be a punt.
Art of the fan, that's going to be a mess.
No, Brooks is fine.
He'll hang out, watch.
He's watched y'all shows.
Yeah.
What else is he going to see?
Yeah, that's good point.
He's already been ruined.
He can come out of it, though, not ruined for life.
No, he's still young.
Yeah.
Blake's wife works pretty much just on the weekends.
Oh, okay.
I kind of forgot about that.
But like 12-hour shifts or something, right?
Ships passing.
Wow.
Your turn.
That's tough.
So you're weekend, Dad.
Yeah.
This is our last weekend of.
No scheduled sports.
As far as soccer games or whatever?
Yeah.
Okay.
We practiced last night.
Thank you to the, it was under 90.
No, I think they'll let us go under 100.
But we finally got a regular practice.
There's a little cloud covered and a little breeze last night.
I think things are okay.
Yeah, so it's all last Saturday for that.
Thank you, Mayor, Mayor McDowell.
Yeah, I talked to T.C.
because we're talking about some,
oh, actually he's working on some new videos for Fairleys.
Very exciting.
Very exciting.
We did this a while ago.
We went out to a football field early one morning.
And I mean early.
T.C.'s like you could get the best video when the sun is just rising.
He's an autour.
An autistic autour.
And they were like, all right.
And, you know, Brandon's kind of happy to do
before the sun rises.
So, yeah, we went out to football field.
Brandon Aubrey is kicking field goals and doing stuff
and Fairleased, like, delivered him a car on the field.
It's really cool.
Anyway, he called me last night because there was a concern
over editing one of those things and what should he do on this.
And I'm like, well, we should get Jake in on this conversation.
He's like, no, man, he's just walked into practice.
Like, he's, did he just get off the phone with you?
And I was late.
He sound, yeah, he didn't sound like he had time to, yeah, to get it going.
It's a big deal being the head soccer coach for, what, eight-year-old, seven-year-old?
Oh, it's a huge deal.
It's a big deal.
It's like the son of Marty Chattonheim.
I'm extremely excited, so we start that a week from now.
The boy's going to start, like, three-year-old.
Fuck.
No.
Mine neither, yeah.
No, my dad, I didn't live with my dad.
Yeah.
So it would have been weird for him to be like, I'd see you.
Tomorrow, son, like, leave in practice.
You know what I mean?
My dad came to all the games, no matter where he was,
but he was not involved, like, that at all.
Okay, yeah.
I was the kid who would tag along with, like, coach's son
and was very formidable for me because the first,
it was actually the second football team I played on.
Because I started in kindergarten, like tackle football.
What?
That's what we did.
You tackle?
in kindergarten?
That's ridiculous.
That was five.
Five, six, you could start.
It does seem a bit early.
It kind of explains a lot, though.
And the first team, I don't, the first team was the Broncos.
I don't remember that coach.
But the first, second, and third grade, I was on the black team.
Like, it was coached by two black guys.
Their sons played football all through high school.
At the other high school, I stayed friends with them.
We were the Falcons.
This is when Dion was, like, hot shit, dude.
Is that why you said you're allowed to say that word?
Back then I did.
Okay.
But I remember, like, it was, I was a coach's son tag along, you know?
I was always with them.
Because my mom would, like, help out with the team a ton.
You never hear about that guy.
When they're doing NFL scouting or you talk about a player, you never hear about that guy.
No.
You always hear about the coach's son.
Oh, my dad, you don't hear like, yeah, no, I was friends with the coaches.
But my mom was raising money for the team doing whatever the ladyside stuff does.
So they were like, all, all, we'll take care of your son.
Team moms are great, dude.
That we had on lock.
You got one now?
It's good to have a team mom.
I feel like now they all want to be team mom.
So everybody's just sort it out.
It's true.
It's a badge of honor.
The more involved you are with your child,
whether it's school or sports or whatever.
Are you comfortable talking about that on the air or no?
Probably.
Never mind.
More moms want to be team moms.
We were talking about the other day just how different kids get treated.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, sure.
More moms want to be team moms than dads want to coach.
Definitely.
Yeah.
Definitely so.
Yeah.
Well, and it's sad.
Like, writers got into the point because he played soccer still to where he still wants to play,
but no one wants to coach.
And the boys who are really getting competitive with it are going to play club.
Right.
So he's just kind of stuck, like, waffling.
Rec leagues are dwindling.
They're dying.
And it's very sad.
Like softball even.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's very sad.
a certain, it's like, well, no, if you're already 10, you need to, like, what?
And I've seen people say, like, it's not that I want my kid to be, like, elite or something.
It's just that, like, I tried a rec league, and it was not fun.
There's no, there was no commitment to it.
There was no organization.
Like, it wasn't like the rec league when we were kids.
So let alone.
Because the good parts have been siphoned away from it.
And everyone's just given up on trying to make them better.
They're like, well, I'm just going to go elsewhere.
Yeah.
So we were bemoaning, we society,
bemoaning the fact that you just don't see kids
in pick up games in the front yard anymore.
Like it used to be just run out in the neighborhood.
Yeah.
You'll find you didn't have an organized league you had to play in.
You would just make games up and stuff.
And then it became too much rec league.
And now we're saying even rec league,
they've just moved on from that.
Yeah.
They're just kind of dying.
Next, it'll be just the robot kids playing against.
But then you also, like, you talk to, you know,
this is what we do on the mom game often,
is we'll talk to a professional athlete or former or whatever and ask for their opinion on this
type of thing and they all say keep your kid in as many sports as you can like that's good for
them even if they say like i love baseball i want to be a baseball player wait to specialize until
you're older play all the sports so you try to do that and you can't because you don't want to
put them yeah you can't do club everything like maybe one club and i wonder if those those guys
are just being a good old day syndrome guys too even former athletes i mean you do want to
to have a variety of training in your body.
It's good to play soccer.
I think that's provable.
Like look at Dirk, dude.
Look at all those guys that like.
But are there a new batch of pros that are even better because they just started playing
basketball at eight and that's it.
Luca.
Well, Luca played soccer.
All those dudes did.
Yeah.
I think that's just the culture is that your feet are involved.
Right.
Always.
Here, if you just play baseball at your feet, you could lose because of your.
feet, T.C. I guess I'd just go back to our Willie Colley-Stein conversation for many years ago,
where he was like, yeah, maybe I should have specialized in basketball. Maybe it'd be a lot better.
Yeah, but a lot of kids, you know, especially in baseball and pitching and all that, they're just like
only pitching and then they blow their arms out when they're 13.
You're referencing, not to refute your point, but I think a specific athletic thing, which is
big guy who was forced to play basketball, who at some point realizes I could have tried a lot harder.
You know what I mean?
Like, he realizes now basketball was his best chance.
But that doesn't mean he liked basketball.
We all know a bunch of guys who were tall who had to play basketball.
And if you were really tall, you probably had to keep playing.
And at some point, you're like, damn, I could have actually tried.
I think Sean Bradley hated basketball.
David Minow once told me Willie Collie Stein was the best high school football player he ever saw.
Oh, really?
Like a 6-9 wide receiver in Kansas.
Who were you just saying?
Sean Bradley oh yeah
Sean Bradley
Most of them don't like
I think hated bad
He loved bike riding
He's got all these adults
yelling at you do this
Play this sport
You're good at it
Until he didn't
I didn't fully appreciate
Your moment sorry
My dad was always the coach
Which meant my grandpa
Was always the assistant coach
Oh man I remember that guy
Why is he here?
Because he's got time
And so he had so much time
He was retired
All he did all day
watch court TV.
And during baseball season, a church gave us a field out behind their building.
And he drugged that field into the perfect practice field for us.
Incredible.
Like that's what he, twice a day, he'd take his truck up there.
Grandpa?
Yes, drag the field.
What a hero.
Go back home, watch court TV.
Kill a dog.
Come back out.
Now, this is other grandpa.
This is the grandpa that took me down to Waco during that whole fiasco.
The ATF standoff with the branch to video.
Which grandpa do you go visit still and pretext?
play 42 with?
That's dog grandpa.
Dog killing grandpa?
Yes.
But court TV and wake up different tar.
But dog killing grandpa wasn't
Waco Tour Grandin?
No.
It's not field-making grandpa.
Yeah, Waco slash field-slash-court TV
grandpa.
Yeah, had time.
He'd go pick up his two kids
to bring to practice.
Me and my dad would go pick up the other two kids.
Because if you want him there,
you got to go pick them up.
Oh, Dan knows.
Well, certain players,
we will certainly go out of our way to pick up.
No, I would have picked up anything for sure.
One thing I forgot to tell you was I sent a text to Dan this morning
because I got my birthday reward this month.
Oh.
And it's always a surprise, like, okay, which restaurant did I sign up for this month's birthday reward?
Do you know his bit?
He tells various restaurants different birthdays so he can continue to space out the rewards.
It's the 15th every month.
You can't use them all in one month.
It's so brilliant.
Thank you.
Yeah, no, he did.
Until you get busted.
Like, how embarrassing would that be?
Like what was it last month?
This guy's lying to us.
It's not your birthday.
Last month was a McAllister's cookie.
Oh, that's right.
This month, pot belly.
Oh.
Wow.
So it's a big month.
It's exciting.
Do you get a sandwich or a smoothie with a little cookie on the straw?
I got to see.
I think it's just a cookie.
But that was a nice surprise.
I like finding out, oh, where did I sign up for this month?
So they'll email you and then you got to go in and get it, though?
Yeah.
And you felt the need to text Dan.
I thought he might be excited for me.
He's my guy that will tell me if there's a bogo somewhere.
Dude, I didn't know about that food being thrown away thing,
and I'm going to try that this weekend for sure.
Yeah, I saw that.
I'm down.
I was reading the comments.
People were like, I got a year's worth of donuts.
My mom, all right.
I got a freezer.
Yeah.
So you don't have anything going this weekend then?
No, well, that's what I was saying out of the gate.
I got a full Sunday, so I, uh,
I'm going to the den.
Dan and I will just kind of hang out, probably getting his pool.
Train.
You and Dan are going to go swimming?
Why not?
Have the pizza party.
Yeah, I have Matt.
Not Champ.
We keep getting in trouble.
Rangers Captain.
What's Champ?
Champ is the Mavs horse.
Fatigued.
Only on seats or soldiers night.
What about Mavs, man?
I thought that's the Mavs thing.
All right.
You got a thing?
You want to promote Julie?
or should we just go to the news?
I'm going to the ranch.
Oh.
That's about it.
Did you wish you had a ranch?
I'll tell Daisy the cow you say hi.
I'm just happy to know someone who even knows the ranch.
She's so high tone.
She has a gate and a ranch.
That's right.
Unbelievable.
That's big time.
I've made it.
Oh, did I have the volume down?
What if I do this again?
Here's Jane with it.
The GoZone News.
News, news, news, news, news, news, news.
I told you this story a few months ago when they were arrested,
but a North Texas couple,
the wife of which I believe went to high school with my wife,
so the same high school as me, but maybe younger,
they were running a custom home project scheme,
a fraudulent scam.
Sounds hot.
Yeah, and they were definitely, like, putting themselves at the front of the marketing.
They were trying to be Chip and Jojo light.
The lady had...
Your wife knows that lady?
Yes.
The scammer?
Yes.
And my cousin, I think, knew.
This is one of the things where you and I talk about this often, where you stay where you grew up.
You see people you know in the news sometimes.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, if you were in Cleveland.
I might miss it.
Yeah.
So yeah, it was a whole thing of taking people's money,
and then they'd come back and say that they needed more money.
They would not do the work.
They would offer like these crazy below market bids, you know?
But she and both of them, their images were...
Go ahead.
You said the word bid, and it made me think of something
I really wanted to bring up to you.
Okay.
Finish the story, and I'll tell you my bid.
So they get some jail time,
and I feel like this is probably second.
The 35-year-old man, he gets his max, which was six years, six months.
His wife gets a one-month sentence.
Why?
Why?
Why?
Because.
The blonde-hot clause?
No, this is the burden of having all the brains, you know?
She was just as on board, but he's probably the one who had to actually write the emails and do this or that.
So now his name's on everything.
I'm telling you, if you look at their marketing stuff,
a lot of it's just her and a lot of it's both of them.
There's not too much of just him.
She got a month, and he's got how many?
Six years and six months.
Six years, she got one month.
Yeah.
What if bet pay off, whoever of us loses the bet,
has to be there to greet her when she gets out
with a box of hard-shaped box of chocolates and a bouquet of flowers.
That's way less dangerous than El Chapo's wife.
Like, what is this guy?
He's bum.
He's going to be gone for another six years.
I know, man.
So she's going to be, like, single, huh?
Now, she's in the hole.
Look it up, dude.
This is not even a good picture.
Raquel Judge.
This is not even a good picture.
So you're a fan.
Well, I mean, well, I'll tell you this.
They were using some of the money on plastic surgery
because that's in the affidavits.
And I'm fairly certain her teeth are fake.
Nice.
So.
Both of them have.
plastic surgery with their dirty money?
It didn't say specifically who it was for.
Okay.
But it did say, it did say plastic surgery.
There was a bunch of vacations.
See, those are fake teeth.
Fans looking at it now.
Those are got to be fake chompers.
Definitely.
Needed them that bad, huh?
David Centenary from Fox 4.
We all want fake teeth, Julie.
I want them bad.
Just get them.
They're a pretty penny.
They're so expensive.
It's worth it, though.
It's your mouth.
She has a point.
It is your mouth.
Lots of people see it.
These stories are so bad.
But you just worry if it's too, like the teeth are a little too big and too white?
Oh, there's so many bad cases.
Stivo has bad teeth.
Yeah.
You see a lot of them.
I feel like Shannon Sharp might have.
They may be too, too much.
Clayton, not sure why you didn't clue us in on this.
Oh.
Do you want me to tell you my bid thing?
Sure.
Might say, oh, just shaving a head.
I'm sure it's the same as anybody who has shaved your head.
It's not.
She's the fair lease of cutting hair.
The fair lease of hair cutters.
That's great.
So she's at the grapevine barbershop.
And so I sit in her, you sit right there too.
You ever look up at the, they got old newspapers.
Of course.
All around, you know, like framed.
And one is like the Dallas Times Herald or whatever they were back in the old days.
and this is the day that the astronauts landed on the moon
or maybe they're about to take off for the moon,
something like that.
A lot of moon stuff.
Okay.
Something to do with the moon.
But it looks like at this very time,
the cowboys are looking to build a new stadium.
And this must be at Fair Park, right?
Yeah.
1960.
Or Texas Stadium.
Yeah.
So they're already a Fair Park.
Yeah.
Moving from Fair Park, yes.
Yes, because it says Cowboys New Home, headline Irving Council to weigh loan bid to build stadium.
Wow. Okay.
Lone bid.
That seems weird.
And so I just started reading the article, and I thought to myself, I need to go look this up and find the article.
I never did that.
This is just since Wednesday.
I don't have all that kind of time.
So now I did take a picture of it through the glass.
And I just want to read you the first two paragraphs of this story.
So this is 1969.
Cowboys are going to move to Irving, but they're looking for bids.
They only got one bid.
A loan bid received Friday for construction of Texas Stadium will undergo a close study
by the Irving City Council before the next step is taking toward building the Dallas Cowboys' new home.
Irving Mayor Robert Power said the only bid
that met Friday's deadline
came from the Texan Corp
which is owned by
the trusts
for the children
of Cowboys owner Clint Murchison
and his brother John
so basically
they bought it
Clint Murchinson
via the city of Irving
owns the
right his company got to build
his stadium
Nice, that's smart.
That's a complete rip-off of Irving is what it is.
That's what I'm saying.
That's a complete rip-off of Irving.
That's insane.
There's no market.
And they claim there was no other bids.
Like everybody else said, nah.
Football won't make it.
Don't want that.
That's crazy.
Only one that met the deadline.
The bid was to build the stadium.
$17 million.
Actually, they made it look real.
$17,964.
thousand dollars you gotta get that 64 in there and what is the new argyle stadium 45 million dollars
you could build three texas stadiums jeez um this is definitely a new story
was that worth me interrupting or no i like it i like learning that stuff i just wanted to
blake it taska anything walpus cats well in attasca a former police officer was given three
life sentences for possession
Why?
What do you mean why?
Three?
How about you're just in here until you die?
Just say one.
You only have one lie.
Why do you have to say three?
Because it's child pornography, Blake.
Oh.
So if you just want one life sentence, then you're soft on.
So somehow...
That's it.
It's all you get from that guy.
What if he is stabbed?
His heart stops beating, but somebody does CPR on him in prison.
Like the guy from Motley.
crew.
But what if this happens like four times does he get out after the fourth?
Oh, he used to die three times and then he finally gets to live again.
Yeah, he said about finding out.
Yeah.
He's like a cat.
So this guy got caught by one of these like YouTube pages.
One of these like vigilante pito nabbers.
This is a brand of content that.
happens on the internet, Dan.
They basically, I mean, did you watch the Catcher Predator documentary?
Yeah, we did it.
Exactly like that.
But there's some of them that are even more unhinged than that.
There's people who just go beat the shit out of them.
I saw.
And just random celebrities.
And they film it and stuff?
Yeah.
I saw something like this, not this story, on crime radar.
Really?
The police had to respond to these people beating up this sexual offender.
Yeah.
So this guy, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh,
obtained this material while he was a police officer as part of an investigation into human trafficking.
The guy who is a current pedos.
Yeah.
Fox 4 interviewed the guy who poses.
Collie.
They have a, the Dell.
Ball Knower Clayton remembers.
They just poses a 15-year-old female.
But it's, you know, an adult decoy.
anyways
McDonald's has launched a Texas
exclusive meal bundle
Clayton I saw this I almost
ordered it yesterday
okay
so it almost worked
you get a really cool cup
are you a regular at McDonald's?
Not really but Anna
takes singing lessons right by
McDonald's and when she gets out it's 4 o'clock
and she's starving and it's right there
and I usually will get myself a Coke and some fries
so yeah I guess I am
It's the most mall owner.
Like, I'm not doing anything too bad, right?
Like a small fry and a large coat.
That's a girl dinner.
That's a girl dinner.
I actually didn't eat after that yesterday.
That was it.
So healthy.
Our friend Scott Crisp, who is a dumb zone comedy night, has a bit about trucks being marketed to us as Texans.
And why stop there?
Yeah, McDonald's has a special Texas cups you can choose from.
This marks the return of their spicy nuggets, Dan.
Because if you're going to live in a place where they're like, we're going to spend no money on education at all.
And you're just going to deal.
You're still going to pay a lot of taxes?
You've been going to school board meetings?
School board.
Not so much.
In effect, yes.
But I don't care.
And that's because I can get a Texas edition of my truck, my nuggets, my cup, whatever I need.
Do you mention?
Carry a gun.
It's true.
I've never opened that app before now.
Crime radar?
What?
I need to open it near my house.
So this just gives you because...
You're familiar with this?
We're on a whole other deal.
A little bit.
This is very exciting.
This is very exciting.
A person found unconscious near West Spring Creek Park,
or Parkway.
We have a hit and run in Cheddar's parking lot.
Oh, no.
Not Cheddar.
The funniest ones are where it lists the restaurant.
where you'll see it'll be
it'll be like
confused man outside tropical
smoothie
okay that's a bit of detail
why are they charged me $8 for this smoothie
a lot of child stuff we have
child reports sleeping overnight
in school park
oh dear
okay so we're just to believe him
we have
that's a six year old who ran away from home
yeah come on teen overdose
in school bathroom in Plano
oh damn dude
And we have...
I hear that's kind of normal.
Can't run from your history.
The drug and bathroom.
Right.
And finally we have...
Abilene running the...
Run and shoot or whatever.
Yep.
In Lucas.
Nude child reported in neighbor's yard.
Okay.
Come on.
It's not that bad.
I don't know.
I don't think you'd call the cops over that.
I don't feel like that's worth that.
Wow, this thing's great.
It is.
You'll lose some time in it.
And then I'll close the first one.
Customer refuses to pay at Frisco Restaurant.
Well, prices are too high.
All right, sorry, I won't look at this.
No, you're fine.
That's the news.
I mean, that's actually the news.
80 day and to Dan today.
If you ever go to the nationwide tab, there's some crazy ones.
Really?
Report of Loose Lion near Cleveland Zoo.
Oh, my gosh.
That's a big deal.
Yes.
Juveniles reported to have put peanut butter
on school playground slide.
Okay, that's just mean.
This is like young Jake.
Sports Center top 10 plays.
Yeah.
Dog reportedly forced to pull a boat
near Madeira Beach.
What the hell does that mean?
Well, how are we going to get it out?
I'll hook it up to the dog.
The dumb zone news.
Like answer, scrunt.
That's a good news.
Poor dog.
My son got stuck on the slide.
I think there's peanut butter on it.
They march right up to the school.
You're right.
That is Jake watching from the parking lot.
I got him.
Happy birthday.
Thank you.
Hey, while you're here, my neighbor's kids, I think he's naked out front.
You're calling the cops?
It's really weird.
Because the neighbor's kid is naked?
Really weird.
Why don't you just not look?
You fucking creep?
Hey, get out here.
Get out here.
Get out here.
I'm worried.
All right.
male birthdays.
Tell on yourself, bud.
For this Friday
and into the weekend.
Man, I haven't had a Dr. Pepper.
It's good, right?
It's 15 years.
Wow, you just had a soda?
Yeah, because it's the tiny size.
Is this my fault?
Oh my gosh, look at that little bit.
I like the tiny size.
I love everything about Fairleys,
but like every place affiliated with cars,
they have to have tiny waters.
Yeah.
But I like a tiny little treat here.
See, it's like the small fry.
Like, you don't feel like you're doing anything that bad.
Have a tiny Coke.
have three to four a day, but it's just little.
Yeah.
It's just cute.
Do you wear what people like Julie in her ilk called Diet Coke's?
What?
No.
Fridge cigarettes.
I don't say that.
Thank you very much.
My wife's friends do.
That's funny.
Fridge sick.
I go Coke Zero or Diet Dr. Pepper.
Coke Zero.
Yeah, that's my fridge.
I have Dear Inspector of the Meat Curtains, I'd like to wish D.F.
Eric Drake a happy birthday.
I can only hope he was woken up
in that special way because he's no longer
married! I was
married for two fucking years!
You text Connor.
That's from Denver, D.F.
Jeff Kala.
No, you want to?
Or do you have his digits?
I can go find him.
Okay.
I'm right here, guys.
You don't have to call me.
Oh, hey.
We have...
Hi, Dan and Jake.
I probably should have emailed way sooner.
Can you give my boyfriend Scott a birthday shoutout on 9-4,
or you know any day near it that works?
He listens to you guys everywhere, in all caps,
in the shower, in the car, on a plane, on a train.
In fact, he listens to y'all better than me.
Because it's my harrow.
Well, duh.
So please, the picture attached is an actual photo of him listening to your podcast.
I put the picture in there if you wanted to take a look at it.
Of him?
That's hot.
Well, it's a bit.
Really hot.
This is from Olivia, who signs it a fan by default.
And I forgot to say he's turning 33.
You know, test it out.
Just like J.C.
Oh, it fell out.
Julie's got it.
Let's plug it in.
All right.
this one.
The title of the email subject line,
Dead on September 2nd, still dead.
Yeah.
Boys, my buddy and co-sit-in from back in April,
Chris Philly passed away September 2nd.
Whoa.
Jake was kind enough to ask about Chris
while urinating in the Half Price Books restroom
during the mid-show break.
I texted Jake, or I texted Chris
that Jake was thinking of him.
Chris responded he was grateful he'd be listening to the show that night
that would be the last conversation I've ever had I'd ever have with him
Chris was a hilarious prick
I will miss him so much
I am glad I did a sit-in with him while I could
I'm eternally thankful to y'all for that memory
I thought I'd have more time with him there's never enough time
I'm also pretty sure he bought an annual
Yeah.
So y'all are good for at least a few more months from KV.
Well, there is a silver lining, then.
Yeah, man.
Super heavy, but very cool.
Moment of silence for the guy.
Chris, Chris Philly.
Sorry.
All right.
Why is no one here a good person?
No, the movie.
You know what?
Dan accidentally said Cliff during
the tribute.
What was he?
Not even close.
Guys, barely even dead.
It didn't say what he died of, right?
No.
Do we know?
Did you know already?
What?
Yeah, he had a brain.
You had a brain tumor.
All right.
Why are you laughing?
Today, I will award.
That brain tumor?
Donkey of the day.
Donkey of the day.
Rest in power.
That brain tumor ain't getting out of here on my watch
without being noted as the talkie of the day.
At least a talking to.
Connor from Fairlees joins us here too at the table.
What did you think of all that, Connor?
What a perfect part to walk up to you.
These guys.
Yeah, Julie laughs at our listeners that die.
I don't.
I just love to you.
That's what Julie does there.
A moment of silence for the guy.
The guy.
RERAC
Dear Daniel hotmail
Down under D.F. Keith
bringing you thoughts
on your two favorite athletes
with Dirk plus
Brant
Dirk plus Brandon Aubrey
birthday wishes for my big brother
Wes Stevens.
His birthday is Sunday.
You may or may not remember him
from around a week ago
when he wished me a happy birthday
and he went off on you guys
a bit about the toothpaste rinsing
thing.
Yeah, that guy was rude.
You spit it.
after you brush your teeth you rinse
100% you don't need to
you do need to you no keep being a
civilized human being definitely rinse
consult your dentist are you swallying it then
I guess I kind of spit it out but I don't
I don't rinse it and I've never
had a cavity and we have since
learned that dentists recommend
not not rinsing the
toothpaste out of your mouth you've talked to every
dentist four out of five
they can't agree on gum
she kind of spits it out
Anyway, you did not seem impressed at his toothpaste rant,
a far cry from last year's,
what a guy comment from Jake when I said he pays for my dumb zone subby,
making him a too subby household.
I'm agreeing with him on the toothpaste thing.
What do you want for me?
Jesus.
Anyway, his brother is named Wes.
Happy birthday.
From the down under D.F.
Oh, maybe he can go see some football.
Do you think that's like that in Australia
were people in Cleveland.
Yes, absolutely.
You know what?
I knew a guy named James in Cleveland around.
You know him?
The World Cup's in New York City.
You go?
Australia's like a 20-hour drive across.
A couple came in today.
Good morning, fellas.
Please wish my wife Bailey Dairy Berry a happy 30th.
Hot name.
No two ways about it.
He's been in the din.
I would wake her up in that special way, but I have asthma.
What a great cop out?
I would go off for the asthma field.
Do you guys have any advice for a woman entering her 30s or advice for a man who now is a 30-year-old wife?
Well, I would say my advice for the guy, start scouting for the younger, getting younger at that position.
Because my advice for the woman is it's over.
You're now over 30.
No one will look at you.
No one is interested in you anymore.
You are a gentle flower entering your person.
prime is my advice.
Call me in 10 years.
Then you're when you're ripe.
Her leaders are crocheting.
Gina, Hina Josa.
That's Hina Hosa.
She's running for governor that's an election
in the two months. It's not a
bit name.
Oh, all right.
Hina Josa?
Not a local office.
And Jake's pronunciation of
the Colossians.
What is that?
Colossians?
Bible book.
Oh, so maybe it's my pronunciation.
I say two Colossians.
Fun fact about Bailey, she hates when I listen to the show in the car
because all she can hear is your breathing and mouth noises.
Oh.
Jesus.
Sorry.
We're having a tough day.
This is from Jordan Derryberry, the guy that brought a bong to the sit-in.
That guy rules.
He gave us Mavs tickets.
He's a very smart guy.
and he did bring a full-sized bong to a sit-in.
I'd never seen that move before.
Was he firing it up?
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
At the den?
Not inside, but...
Oh, okay.
I was like, I don't remember smelling that, but I don't know.
Dear Professor, excuse me, dear Professor Prostate,
please help me wish a very happy birthday to me.
47 years young, listening since the ticket days.
Remember that?
And I have an unhealthy obsession with you guys.
You might say I follow you religiously.
When I need to close, you clothe me.
A shirt you gave me before the half-priced books event.
That's a good bit.
When I was hungry, you fed me at the GSC.
And when I was without a car tray, you cartrayed me.
Praise B to DZ from D.F. Stephen Brunson.
Man, yeah.
We provide all necessary.
You left?
Oh.
Jake, thanks for being a good dude.
There's like 10 people here.
The one guy that was email and his here is gone.
Thanks for being a good dude.
Not kicking me in the nuts for TRTing,
dressing, vaping, and pouching just like you.
Thank you, lucy.com slash dumzum.
A modern man right there.
And when he needs a car.
When he needs a car.
He knows what to do.
Fair least when you do.
God it is.
It's.
You don't need a dealership, baby.
That's the best part.
Is that what you're thinking?
Yeah.
And one more.
Dear Dumbzone,
happy birthday to Blake from your friends at Pop Belly.
Ah, yay.
That's super thoughtful, then.
Yeah, super thoughtful.
All right.
We now go to...
Pop Bellies.
Presents on this day in history.
So now we do today in history.
Again, we have Connor from Fairlease over here.
He's the star of the new Brandon Aubrey commercial.
Brandon got second billing.
Give him any autographs yet, Connor?
Yeah, right.
Very dim star.
No, it was awesome.
It was great acting.
It was a lot of fun.
We had a lot of fun.
Brand's a good guy.
I laughed very hard.
Isn't it weird?
You're like, when's he going to start being a church?
Well, when you don't see it, well, yeah, no, he's, and he's, yeah, he's a real minch.
But, yeah, you don't see it coming together at the time, and then when you see it, it's, that's, they were so funny out there.
Oh, yeah, T.C.'s, he's great. Just don't let him hear us say that.
He's not living. You're safe.
Oh.
Today's Friday, September 4th on this day, in 1957.
The question was, where was Jimmy Haslam?
Where was Robert Kraft?
Where was Stan Cronkey?
Well, let me just tell you what happened.
On this day in 1957, the Arkansas governor used the Arkansas National Guardsman
to prevent nine black students from entering the all-white Central High School in Little Rock.
Oops.
So I was trying to go through my Rolodex.
Where was...
You don't have to go through.
You know there was only one owner there, and it was Jerry.
Oh, that's right.
Jerry Jones was actually there.
He was observing a conscientious observer.
I'm just looking at what's going on.
Those photos are tough.
It's an incredible photograph of him.
Like it looks so Jerry.
He's where the action is, man.
Yeah.
The juice.
On this day in 1971, I think I told you details about this last year,
but it was the Jets and Giants both participated in what would be the last
single stadium double-header in NFL preseason history.
I love this bit.
And they did this in Cleveland.
They would have double headers.
What?
I do not remember this.
Yeah.
They had the Browns play twice.
It would be like the Browns would play the Jets in a game,
and then the Steelers would play the Giants,
And it was like two games, one price, come on fans, doubleheader football.
And they were probably playing all the starters the whole game.
Sure.
It was the last pre-zing you need it for the warm-up for the season.
Yeah, these guys have been selling insurance, if that.
Wow, that's great.
Art Maudel, a lot of innovations.
I feel like they could do that.
Maybe you should be in the whole game.
Today in college football.
Like today, the Friday it starts.
Like that we should be having games all day.
They could kick it off like that.
Yeah, but this is the same stadium.
No, I'm saying, even like Jerry World could do something.
They do this with the state championship, for example, right?
The Ford Center, they'll play three games.
Tell me you couldn't get two college games?
Are you telling them that?
Leave it to Cleveland to figure it out.
I know.
The Can-Doo City.
Well, in that vein, the Browns on this day in 1994,
became the first team in NFL history to score a two-point conversion.
Because they didn't have them before this.
Have you guys read about the one-point safety?
No.
Is that a thing?
It's possible.
There was some guy, like the guy, trying to get a Roy Oswald perfect game,
some guy trying to get it on a, you have to,
it has to be on a two-point conversion, obviously.
Oh.
But there's like this really weird.
But as you somehow run backwards and you get tackled in the end zone?
Correct.
That would be a...
Correct.
If you imagine getting titled at 98 yards behind the line of scriming.
Okay, so you try for a two-point conversion and there's holding.
Yeah, that is actually how it's happened.
And then so now you're back to like the 40 or whatever.
And then again, let's run the two, let's not kick it, two-point conversion, holding.
We liked what we drew up the first time.
Yeah.
If it wasn't for the holding, it would have worked.
Yeah, it's very funny to me.
Today is September 4th.
So it's a video game, right?
The guy's trying to do it in the video game?
It's happened in college before.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
This day in Dumb Zone history, September 4th.
Let's go back to 2020 when on the show Jake said that he deleted his Facebook
because Dan made fun of his profile picture with his girlfriend.
That's not far off at all.
Current wife.
I think I had in a relationship as my Facebook status,
and I got hired as their producer,
and it was like they had my profile open on their laptops when I walked in.
They were just like, your likes are what?
Spending time with your girlfriend?
We did find that we could change your behavior just by making fun of you pretty easily.
Well, it's like a dog, you know?
It's like a dog, rub his face in it a little bit.
He's like, I don't like that.
Yeah, but we can make fun of Blake all day long,
He will not change.
Like, he's just who he is.
You guys were also just making me a better person.
That's probably true.
There's no, you don't need to have.
That's all I doing.
Getting off Facebook saved me a lot of problems, man.
I'm like a life coach.
Really, truly, for me.
This is also the day in 2020 when the Nets hired Steve Nash is their coach.
Coach of the Cooch.
But we're going to have different coaches, you know?
Yeah.
Dan predicts massive failure, doesn't know if he'll survive the next.
year. Not far off, fired seven games into year three.
I didn't even feel like he made it three, man. I know. I looked, yep.
What a mess. They started two and five in year three and he got the can.
So a win for Dan. That is weird. All off season two. Nope, we're committed to you.
Oh, tough first week. That happened so much in basketball. Stupid.
Other birthdays today, Terrence Newman is 48?
Terence.
One time my friend's wife
walked in when we were watching a game
and was like, could they not get him a jersey
with his name on it in time?
And I don't think she was kidding.
Why?
Wow.
Sent that one into darndest things on the musers.
She thought his jersey just said,
New Man.
Okay.
Come on.
We'll give the new man this one.
I like it.
I'd like to date her.
She seems gullible.
Did you know him?
Did you work for the Cowboys at the time when they had him?
Yep.
He was a good dude.
He didn't hit on you or did he?
He kind of dated my roommate.
I don't know if you want to call it dated or whatever.
He bought her presents and stuff.
Bought her presents?
Yeah.
So I got to know him.
What's your experience of athletes buying you presents?
Me?
Yeah.
They don't buy me presents.
I'm just, they buy my friends presents.
He used to work for the Cowboys.
Yes, yes.
Briefly.
And, yeah.
I'm just the one that's there, but they usually go for, like, the friends.
And that's fine.
I like it that way.
They never bought me presents.
But I think he bought her, like, diamonds or something.
Diamonds?
Yeah.
Diamonds.
It'd be way funnier if we actually had the audio.
Did it work?
But one time...
Did he get to her diamond?
Bad Radio was sitting down at camp with parents Newman.
And it's just Bob and Dan sitting there.
I don't think Donovan was there.
And he sits down and puts on a headset.
And the first thing he hears.
hears his groups from back at the station go,
what it'd do?
And he, like, looks around.
That was always a good bit.
He was really nice, though.
I loved him.
He was great.
Never really returned punts like we were told.
Was that part of the sales pitch on?
Big time, dude.
Think about the age I was.
Every player, I'm like, can they return punts?
Montes Sweat, 30.
Is that a bust?
Does he, would you say he's above the?
I think he's a late one, right?
Early two?
Yeah, 26.
The next three of these names all have the word Kempspin next to them.
Feed me.
So you ready?
I'm in the corner.
Rapid fire.
John Van Biesbrook, 63.
He used the N-word in a hockey game.
Oh, dear.
Hank Basket is 44.
He was married to that Playboy playmate.
Kendra Wilkinson, and she found him cheating on her.
her with a trans person.
This is going to be the tough one
because I searched
this guy's name and controversy online
and really couldn't find anything.
I couldn't remember it.
Golfer Raymond Floyd
is 84. This barely
counts. It's just
Soroy grew up next to him.
Like, Soroy grew up getting yelled
at by Raymond Floyd for
dicking around in his pond or something.
Being naked in his yard.
Yeah, for being naked.
Yeah.
Yeah, I don't know why that, why is that on the Kemp's Finn list?
All right.
You can remove it.
We can, it's a living, breathing document.
Sir.
You can remove it.
Mike Piazza is 58.
Many thought, homosexual.
Oh.
Today's war game winner, 59.5.
I think he was the last pick in the Major League Baseball draft.
Just as a favor to, like, Tommy LaSorda was friends with his dad or something.
Crazy story.
And he ends up in the Hall of Fame.
He was on Letterman a lot.
Give us a 30 seconds or so on that story, Julie.
What's that?
Dr. Drew Pinsky is 68.
Did I nail it?
Spent a lot of my youth evenings with Dr. Drew.
That was on the radio quite often.
Is that the guy that dressed up like Charlie Kirk's wife?
Drew Pinsky.
Drewski?
Oh, yeah, I'm sorry.
Couldn't be more different people, I think.
Where's he looking for?
Okay.
Got it.
Yeah, easy confusion.
All right, you know the one guy?
Do you know the other co-founder of Facebook?
He's 43.
I know the other, the Vye, the Winkle Vi, but I can't remember the other guy's name.
Andrew McCollum.
Candy Alexander is 69, the actress.
She was in news radio and The Corner, which is hilarious.
No.
We need to bring the name Candy back.
Isn't that very stripperish?
Yeah, but like it needs a rebrand.
You vote for President Candy?
Candy.
Candy wouldn't run for President.
That's what I'm saying.
I know.
That's a cute name, though.
I'd rather just start naming women book.
Damon Wayans is 66.
Major pains.
And Bulletproof.
Dan, you would love Bulletproof, man.
You may have seen it.
Disneyland.
But it's like Adam Sandler before he was, had to be PG, Adam Sandler.
It's a cop, funny cop movie.
It's rated R comedy from like 92, 93 something.
Wow, I've never heard of it.
God, it's good.
Rented that very many times at Blockbuster.
Yeah, that was a big fan.
Was Damon Wayans handyman?
Yes.
I want to say, yeah.
He was the first one.
Do you know Handyman, Julie?
No.
Do you know in living color?
Yeah, not really.
I mean, I didn't like watch it.
I know of it.
He was mentally and physically handicapped, but he was a superhero.
Well, good for him.
He overcame the odds.
He was handyman.
Good for him.
Good for him.
He's like, Handyman is here.
Okay.
I see.
I see now.
It's not my thing.
I'm just pointing out something that Damon
I'm glad that he could become a superhero when he's dealing with everything he's dealing with.
Oh, yeah.
No, it was really to honor.
The Handy Capable.
Yeah.
Put your mind to something and you can make it happen.
Mark Ronson is 49.
Should be on some sort of Mount Rushmore of guys who have made great music that people don't mention their name.
Because he's behind the scenes guy, but he's awesome.
did all of Amy Winehouse's album
all that
Bruno Mars like uptown funk stuff
he's a power hitter
Noah Taylor is 57
that is Locke in Game of Thrones
Lock
I don't know who that is
I don't know anything about Game of Thrones
Iona Sky
is 56 she's in Say Anything
and really
I don't feel like anything else ever
The movie
She probably was
Yeah the movie say anything
actor Wes Bentley is 48
that was Ricky in American Beauty
and from what I understand
he's a big player in the Hunger Games
That's another thing I completely ducked
I miss the Hunger Games
My daughter's huge into it
I was into that a bit
Harry Potter may be being released into my home
Oh yeah
Contagion
No it's great when it happens
It gets them hooked on reading
And like that's a trade I'll make I guess
Yeah, yeah, it's great.
It's better than being named candy.
It's a book by reading and trans hate.
For Harry Potter?
Nah, you know, the writer's a turf.
Oh, well, that's a trans-exclusionary radical feminist.
Goodness.
I don't care.
It's just a book.
The kids don't care.
Beyonce is 45.
No, the kids by reading that book are supporting that.
That's right.
Everything she's ever done.
Beyonce's country album is awesome.
Look it up.
Whitney Cummings is 44 comedian.
I used to think she was really, really funny.
And she's still pretty hot.
She's had like a lot of work done.
She lost her funny?
Well, you know what?
I feel like...
Usually you lose your hot.
No.
You just look different.
But, you know, it's like anybody.
It's harder to stay funny, I think, when you're super rich.
But for some reason, it happens more to women.
Just don't care as much?
It seems like it.
A little out of touch.
Your jokes don't land.
She put her special on...
Only fans.
You can't be hungry when you're fed.
You had to like, seriously, because I watched it.
You had to like get the app on my Apple TV.
I was like, what are you doing?
Why are you trying to jam all of us up here?
Now I'm here.
She's just providing a cover, actually.
Now I'm here.
I'm at an only fan.
Let's just see what else we got here.
Weird.
Weird.
I call these female creators who are contributing to the economy.
Okay.
Even Connor's not buying it.
That's what I know.
You're like, all right, dude.
Even lost Connor.
Speaking of funny, Cooper Hefner is 35.
The funniest Hefner.
Yeah, the son of Hugh Hefner.
Kyle Mooney is 42.
So funny.
Don't know what happened to him necessarily,
but I love that guy's bit.
Is that good neighbor stuff?
Yeah.
Right?
Yeah, he's great.
He was on SNL for a few years.
Do you have anything for us, Henry?
Okay.
No Henry birthday of the day.
El S.A.
Henry taking the day off.
How's your tire?
His third day off in a row.
I actually don't want to.
Do we have a handheld?
You're so nice for a hot second there.
Come here and tell us about your tire.
My Jake birthday of the day,
Lacey Sturm is 45.
It's on the speaker.
She's in a, is this a band?
It is.
Blake.
Fly Leaf.
That's not your bit?
I've never even heard the...
Come on, Jake.
You listen to Fly Leaf to impress the...
girl at church.
First day I met Jake, he was like,
you heard of Fly Leaf?
No.
Bro.
Dude, everybody's going to know Fly Leaf.
You could be the first one in your neighborhood to know Fly Leaf.
I tell you what's happening here.
Do you guys know how Quentin Tarantino
famously just really wants to say the N-word?
But like, when he can't,
he writes other people to say it.
And he writes it a lot.
Yeah.
Blake has some weird thing where he's trying
to like benching bands that he knew and kind of home along get it out there with that
because this is like the fourth time now that I don't know any like what he's talking about
and then all of a sudden he'll be like you know it was just kind of a little popular so he wants
us to call it the Jake birthday of the day he starts singing it and I'm like the Blake
birthday of the day like so excited about Lacey Sturm yeah no I'm like what is happening
I don't know any of these they're primarily rock bands in that era who suck and I thought I bet you
teenage Jake was into this.
You do have a good hit rate.
And so, well, you can't win them all, I guess.
I'm saying you have a good one.
Usually Jake's like, oh, yeah.
Keep trying.
I'm going to keep trying.
We run the analytics on this.
Before our Dumbzone birthday of the day, so we bring in intern Henry, who hasn't been here
in three days.
He's been gone.
We understand you were sick one day, right?
The entire explodes, Dan.
You need some time.
Here's how microphones work.
They pick up, like, what's in front of it.
So if you stand in front of the speaker, it's just going to loop forever.
And ever and ever.
So go anywhere else in this room.
Oh, he stood right in front of the speaker?
He'll be right here.
In his defense, it's an interesting looking speaker.
He knows now.
He sets it up everywhere.
Okay, well, I got nothing.
Okay, so we, at least he called off sick one day.
He's like, I'm sick, right?
This kid is a natural.
Sick Tuesday?
Yes.
Okay.
You look a lot better now.
Thank you.
I don't want people that are sick coming around me.
That's one thing about Dan.
Give you COVID a few times
And all of a sudden it's a
So yesterday you weren't here
Because you claim tire blew out
Yeah so I was on the way
I was probably about five minutes out
On the tollway by Mockingbird
And I heard like this pop
Ooh the tollway there's no nothing
Berm there's no side
But I took the Mockingbird exit
It was about half a mile after it popped
but I was just kind of grinding metal on pavement.
Ow!
That's good for it.
Yeah.
But the wheel wasn't damaged somehow.
Because you're blessed.
I guess.
Things just work out for...
What'd you do?
So, yeah, I pulled over, got a tow truck.
Obviously, I called my dad.
I was like, hey, what's the deal here?
Did you even contemplate?
You know what?
Maybe I'll put the tire on.
I don't have a spare.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Would you have been able to do that?
Oh, hell no.
Oh, okay.
So it's a nice excuse to not have a spare.
Yeah.
Yeah, why not?
I don't know.
Would that be a good?
Look at all these old men.
Why don't you have a spear?
I'm not.
I mean, I am.
How about we?
What if we do the tire change challenge?
We just put a camera on Henry.
Sub-a-thon?
Yeah, and we just check in with him.
That's a great idea.
Just see when he gets it done.
Just hope that it doesn't fall on his head.
Yeah, with someone else's car.
We get a professional to, like, Jack.
it up.
No.
That's the problem for me, man, is that I just, I know I'm the type of guy to end up having
a car fall on my head.
I just know that I would somehow screw that up.
I do it.
Yeah, but you're all game day men's health.
You just catch it.
That's right.
Spin it around.
Fairly as far as I'm scared, right?
Anyway, why?
Is this your car?
Yeah.
Or like, parent?
Okay.
Yeah, it's mine.
So tell me about your history of, uh, do you,
treat those tires well why would this blow out yeah no I mean I had but yeah over the last week my
front right was probably on like 24 25 pressure and I was like oh you could see it every day
and you're like okay this is this is I'm fine I'll just hop back on the tollway this is another
idiot intern thing but like no this could happen to me right now though none of my sensors are
working but yeah no I I made it work for like a week
and I was planning on going in probably today or something like that.
Ooh, the plan.
You were dead.
You always got the plan.
Yeah.
And.
So you're not big into rotating the tires or making sure you're...
You'll get there.
He's 22, 23.
What are you rotating?
No, I...
But the point is...
I'm trying to rotate these blunts at that age.
Don't we make mistakes so that they can learn?
No?
Sure, no.
Well, no.
Do you change your...
Do you change the oil?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Could you do that on your own?
No, why?
Tires below oil.
No, I just didn't know if you've ever, did you ever have to?
No.
Did you ever have to?
No.
I learned to change a tire.
I never learned to do oil.
Like there's somewhere that my dad likes, and I just go there, and, you know, obviously I have, like, the number up on the left side of my dashboard, and I know when I need to go in.
Yeah.
Well, I'm glad you're here today.
We're glad you're alive.
Thanks, guys.
Intern Henry, folks.
I'm not going to clap.
Oh.
We love intern Henry, folks.
And the Dumb Zone birthday of the day, not just for TC, but mostly for T.W.
T.W.
It is Ken the Hawk Harrelson is 85.
Wow.
Is he still on the broadcast?
Nah.
Hawk.
What's here?
Long gone?
Okay.
They got Benetti, right?
Is Benetti their guy?
Okay.
I thought Benetti was.
Benintendi?

She invented vegetarian.
Wow.
Paul Harvey.
Good day.
John McCarthy, who is a scientist who is a scientist who coined the term artificial intelligence.
Thanks, bud.
Terrible.
Appreciate you.
Just coining that term, it looks like Al.
When you write it, it doesn't look good.
I agree.
It should be like a...
Weird butter combo.
DZ or something, you know, it should be something with power.
FL.
Just something that you can definitely tell.
And I hate writing AI.
Just writing...
Just cross your eyes.
Yeah, or do a heart dot.
What if we call it something else?
It's too late.

Johnny Roso had a press box hot for one of Zoles.
Yeah, it was for me.
It's been retired, I guess.
Just like you?
That's right.
Maybe I just got more hot.
No.
Finish the sentence.
The press box is gone.
She's out of the press?
Yeah, exactly.
You can't limit her anymore.
Into the world.
It's now country club pool hot.
Fair least hot.
Which is where she broke her wrist.
Probably.
Ma'am, are you okay?
I'm a mess.
That's such a mess.
And then her husband just takes her home.
Like, hey, should we get her urgent care?
Nah.
You'll be fine.
My dinner isn't made yet.
Waited it out.
Upper body injury.
Waited it out, lady.
You need both arms to make dinner?
All right.
Dead on this day, still dead.
You have Steve Harwell.
Is that the guy from Smith?
Mashmouth?
That is correct, Jake.
Wow.
I'm certainly not
beating the allegations
on that one.
I think he turned
into a Nazi.
Oh.
Like late in his life,
he was really
going,
hard,
politically.
Also dead on this day,
we have...
Never mind.
Just think of the song.
Hey now.
Yeah,
yep,
yep.
We have Joan Rivers.
I mean,
We can all write a parody lyric.
That's right.
Did she invent Bits Stole My Look?
I think she did.
On E?
What was that show?
No.
Fashion Police?
Fashion Police.
There it is.
Of course, her dog, got a hot daughter, too.
Looks just like her.
And then Dead on the Stay Still Dead.
2006.
Steve Irwin.
Damn.
Crocodile Hunter.
That's what happened.
Day in history.
Killed by a stingray.
On a boat.
Did the stingray
had to marry his daughter?
That's right.
Step-dad.
Grab a mic.
All right, guys.
Have a good weekend.
All right.
Clayton, you got to grab a mic.
Got to grab a mic.
All right.
Closing remarks.
That's what we do here
after all this other nonsense.
And we are here
with Connor from Fairlease.
Thanks for being.
here. Thanks for having us. Oh, please. Thanks for the business. Thanks for starring in our commercial.
He's the guy. He drove my car up to my house when I got it delivered. Wow. My new car.
Oh, really? It's a pleasure, yeah. You really do? So they actually do deliver it to you?
That wasn't just for the commercial, yeah. Oh, okay. They actually do. And my mom happened to be there.
I got to, yeah, I got to meet the whole thing. She took our picture together. It was like first day of school
like prom. Like prom? Yeah. It was prom and the car. I picked her up and was a highland.
walked out and was kind of like, who, what's your name, sir?
Like, we had this whole weird.
It's true.
My parents are strange.
Have you ever delivered a car to anywhere weird?
Not you even specifically, but maybe the company?
Not really.
There's a good vetting process that has to happen for, we send anything that
expensive out to remote locations.
That makes sense.
Just the football field.
We had weird ones.
We had one that got delivered.
a couple months ago and the wife came out
and she had no idea that the husband was getting truck
for the company.
And so we were like, eh,
we were just told to bring it here.
That's where you are the middleman.
Right.
You're like, I don't know, I didn't.
Right.
But we've eliminated the middleman.
We got Fairlease.
It's Fairlease.org.
I got that special phone number.
Should we give that out?
You want to give it out?
Do you know it by heart or no?
I have my phone number I could get it.
But yeah, that's on our end.
What is the Fairlease special?
phone number there, Clayton. Do we have a thing?
972-705.
4815. That's like the hotline just to you and Nick, right?
It's a special dumb zone hotline.
That's right, yeah. That's right. How's Danny doing?
He's our guy over here. We met him. He's hiding somewhere.
Years ago. I tried to get him out here, but he's hiding somewhere.
He always looks like he's headed from one place to another. Yeah. He's in a hurry.
He's a brisk walker. I like that. He's getting stuff done. I like that.
What's your, what do you got going at Fairleys this weekend?
We're closed?
Long weekend.
Yeah?
Yeah.
My wife and I just had a baby six months ago, so we're going to hang out and.
Look at it?
Yeah, that's it.
It's a holiday.
Yeah, that's what you do.
It's too.
It's kind of lays there, right?
Yep.
Yeah.
Does it do anything at six months?
Does it roll over?
Yeah, she's rolling over, so that's a whole thing now that you got to, like, not leave her
on the bed or she'll go flying.
Okay.
You learn that the hard way?
Or we'll put her on her play mat.
Matt next thing she's like on the tile floor somewhere and so you got to keep an eye on her.
That's cool.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, thanks for having us out here.
Thank you guys for being here.
Thanks, Julie.
Yeah.
Adios.
We got to go before this becomes a...

Want to grab a mic?
Oh.
Let's not stop yelling off the air.
