You will do the show pretty much from the plaza.
Yeah.
And I will stay here in the cozy confines
of the DZTV studios.
With Poppy, the dog.
Because I don't...
Just to make sure we can stay on the air.
Yeah, it's gonna be probably some pretty serious
pandemonium down there.
We're not sure how the cell service or my ability to join via video will be but we're gonna try
Dan's predicting mayhem
I'm predicting mayhem in the building. Yeah, like I feel like there's gonna be drinks thrown on the floor
Maybe I'm wrong. Yeah, maybe I'm wrong. Well, I have all this glue. I want mayhem.
So.
Are you gonna glue yourself to the floor?
Yeah.
To protest?
Yeah, Minnesota,
Minnesota,
PETA lesbian style.
Didn't we interview her?
Yeah, a couple of them.
We should get them back on and ask what would you do?
WW, MPL. I was thinking about this the other day,
like about people who do protest and things like that.
So it was the Timberwolves, and maybe one of them
happened in Atlanta also.
But the owner of the Timberwolves
owns a bunch of chicken farms.
And due to some mismanagement, they
murdered millions of chickens.
So that's what they were protesting, right?
I was thinking about this last night.
Has the Luka trade been worse personally
in some for you than 9-11?
What?
Hmm.
Because when I added all of them.
In a way, for sure, yeah, in a way.
Now 9-11 was a banger.
I don't want you sleeping on the back of the card on 9-11.
They're pretty far-ranging impacts.
But...
So I was just...
It's more explainable.
Yeah, well, yeah.
9-11, I think you can trace the reasoning.
Well, in both cases.
Easier. It was highly avoidable. If in both cases. Easier.
It was highly avoidable.
If not for ego, I guess, I don't know.
But I was just thinking,
this has definitely been worse for me than 9-11.
So if there was something I was going to physically protest
and get arrested for,
this has certainly had the most negative impact on my life.
Which is saying something I get it but I mean you got to take your shoes off at the airport now
I know unless you have pre-check
Unless you pay for it. Yeah, you could pay for things. They should just call that the al-qaeda bypass to really put it in your face
Hey al-qaeda bypass line. I
Just want to know if when you go to get the pre-check,
because you have to go to the airport
to have a little sit-down interview for a pre-check.
But it's largely performative.
It's just, I want to know who gets turned down from that.
Yeah, I know.
If they say, yeah, you got to the last stage, which is go
to the airport and have the interview.
You just sit with someone, they kind of size you up and down, at least in my experience,
and say, you're a white guy, okay.
That's what it seems like they did.
Like why else did they want me to go there in person?
They didn't really ask me anything.
Didn't follow up on any of the stuff I put down on the sheet.
They just kind of said, all right, here you go.
And I got a pre-check.
And I'm happy.
Now they're dangling clear in front of me.
Yeah, even more.
What is that?
No, it doesn't matter.
I don't know.
I thought they were going to bring up
that I'd been arrested before.
And I was in my mid-20s, and I just
assumed I had a folder, a record somewhere, but they didn't even bring that up.
And I had recently traveled and I had a shirt on
that said, I went to Iran and all I got was a love for Jihad.
And I wore that to the screening appointment
with my little pocket Koran and nothing.
They just green lit it right there.
That's good, man.
Anyways.
So are you?
I'm fired up.
My concern is your health.
Feeling good, bro.
OK, but you said yesterday you had a little kid with a flu
and a wife leaving.
I got hella lucky so far, man.
I actually got a, I got a pill.
What the heck was it called?
RU486. No, what is that, what's the reference?
Anybody know?
Anybody know that cool reference?
Root root eight.
Type in RU, the letter R, letter U, 486.
It's a very popular drug back in my day.
Oh, it's an abortion bill?
What?
Okay.
That's cool, did you do little puns like that,
like where you were knocking a chick up
and you'd be like, are you for 86?
That's right, 86 and something, right?
It's killing it.
That's crazy.
You never, that was like the first-
I know 86ing from the kitchen,
but I didn't know that- I didn't know that they would, yeah, I don't think from the kitchen, but I didn't know that.
I didn't know that they would,
yeah, I don't think that's why,
but it just turned into a really cool name that kind of fits.
Oh, this is the one that's out now.
Okay, I didn't know you guys knew the,
what do they call that in the animal world?
Like knowing the actual name?
When it first hit the market,
I just remember this being a big thing
and hearing about RU486.
And then thinking that's an odd, ironic named thing.
It's an odd, ironic thing unless there was a guy
with Dan McDowell's blood hired by the FDA
and then it makes all the sense in the world.
They're just doing bids.
You think he's just doing a bid on that?
Yes.
Okay.
I do because I think that drug was created by a man
and men are pigs and even the ones who are into science
are like, wouldn't it be funny?
The same way the richest guy in the world
just named his government agency
where he ruins everyone's lives after a fucking meme coin.
The one that, yeah, he's really into.
That he's really into, yeah.
I think that for sure, but no, the kid did test positive
and he looks like doodoo.
But the wife, so far so good.
And they gave us medication, it was one pill, huge pill.
It's like if you think you might've been exposed,
take this.
Never heard of that.
I know, and it was, insurance, it was $200 a pill.
A pill?
No insurance.
I got a coupon online for like $20 off.
I was like, I don't care.
And they didn't even have it at my local Walgreens.
This is how much I care about you in the show.
So wait, you-
I drove like 30 minutes last night to get the pill.
How many do you have to take?
One.
One $200 pill.
I'm God right now, basically, is what I'm telling you.
Do you feel great?
Five miles was the best time this morning.
I've never heard of this.
I looked at a book and read it.
Does that count?
What's that pill called?
It was called like-
I wanna know.
I can find it for you.
You take it orally?
Yeah, it was big.
Not like train spotting?
No, I don't know if that's shooting up or suppository
or what, but.
He put it in his bottom.
Yeah, suppository.
And then he went to the dirtiest toilet in Scotland.
Unleashed, but then he had to dive in that toilet
to get it back because he hated it. One moreashed, but then he had to dive in that toilet to get it back, because...
One more hit.
He lit.
Yeah.
No, I feel, I'll find the name of it, but I feel fine.
She moved her flight to later, just so she could,
she's kind of like around him, but not on him.
And then there was big concern over,
like my mom's gonna have to watch him tomorrow.
If you wanna fight with your wife,
because you're so forward with us
about things you fight with your wife about.
We settled it, I think it'll be okay if I,
we had a fight over tomorrow, pretty big fight.
You were fighting with your wife?
You need to miss the show,
I'm like you're out of your goddamn mind.
Oh, she was like you're just gonna skip the Luka show? She was like, well, I mean, we literally don't have
anyone else to watch the kid other than your, you know,
your somewhat immuno-compromised mom.
Now, to my mom, she's like, I don't care.
You're doing the show, I'm watching the kid.
If I get sick, I get sick.
And in her mind, she just says, I won't get sick,
which is kind of what I do.
Worked out well for Steve Jobs.
But she's like, yeah, you know.
And this is an interesting thing, right?
I could have done what I should have done,
which is be Esther, and I told her this.
What I should have said was,
go on your trip, we'll see how it feels Wednesday,
we'll work it out.
Worst case scenario, yeah, all the while knowing
I was never gonna miss the show,
but I should have done that, right?
You just BS him.
And then you make the call when it's time to make the call.
Which is a nice way to lie, yeah.
But I started the entire interaction by saying
there are a lot of things that are gonna happen Wednesday
and me missing that show is not one of them.
We were on a bit of a the wrong path. Yeah I would have done the BSing just to get it over with. Yeah. To get it out of the way. But in my mind I'm
like well I'm gonna tell you the one part of this that's constant and then we
need to work out how we get to that point because that's what's gonna happen
and that did not go over well. But the result is the same which
is that the kid will be watched and I'll be here to have fun with the dummies.
Could we crowdsource that? Just say hey anybody want to watch my kid? Because
we'll do that you know you want to get a smoothie or something hey anybody who's
watching brings us a smoothie or whatever, you know?
Anybody wants these Stavi tickets?
Hit me up, anybody wants this kid for a couple hours?
If you already have the flu, yeah, that'd be great.
Get a little blanket party.
Yeah.
Nah, dude, I'm super fired up for tomorrow.
Because the way I look at it,
and we can talk about this tomorrow,
I'm gonna go watch like one NBA game a year for the rest of my days, and it's gonna be when he's here.
Yeah.
Maybe two, you know, but one for the most part.
So anyways.
No, I'm into it.
I'm into following the Lakers
and seeing if they could win the title this year.
Like, that'd be the greatest thing ever.
We need it. I have a lot'm into following the Lakers and seeing if they could win the title this year.
Like that'd be the greatest thing ever. We need it. I have a rooting interest now.
It is very interesting how in the, you know,
the, Nico wanted to make this move to make the Mavs better this year and you would think the
Lakers would be kind of bad for a while and then they'd get good because
they got Luca but they actually might be good now. Might be. After Sunday that
looked pretty good. Do you see he's on the injury report for tonight? No. Like
it's a really funny injury report. It's like, Luca left knee contusion,
LeBron right knee, even Austin Reeves, like elbow.
They're listing everybody,
but they're not giving him the same injury.
Yeah, why not just-
Like they're giving like Rudy's got a,
or Rui has like a thumb.
Like it's really funny.
Yeah, you don't wanna make it too obvious you're cheating on
the test.
And it's not a nationally televised game, so I believe Oklahoma City might be wrestling
a lot of guys too, because they're kind of, they don't care. They're so far ahead of everyone.
They're locked up, yeah. I mean, it didn't look like they cared the other night. And
I don't know what to put in this, but if you think back,
let's end this in a second. I wanna talk about other things.
If you think back to the first game in LA,
he clearly was in feel it out mode,
and he was still in shock, and what is this?
I don't know Luca, and I don't even know firsthand
anybody who spends time with him.
But fifth hand, I've heard people say
like he's gonna, his goal is to bust their ass tomorrow.
I mean, he's going into tomorrow night,
like this is not LeBron, this is not,
like he wants tomorrow night.
Which makes me happy.
Hope he does.
Hope he's playing his little guitar.
The team loves him, so they're gonna be feeding him.
They're gonna be trying to make him have
the best game that he can have.
I've mentioned this a few times,
and maybe it's obvious, but it seems weird to me
that more people don't focus on the language
that LeBron has been using.
Because every single time he can,
LeBron will be like, yeah, I mean,
you give a city everything,
and then they turn their back on you so he's been like
gassing him up since day one yeah like oh you know you know you come over here
when you're 18 you're in the community you're giving them every single thing
you've got and then they just they turn you that that's because LeBron knows his
best chance at another ring is a pissed- Luca. So he constantly reminds him about it.
You don't think he's gonna be doing that tomorrow night
when that fat fuck's sitting over there courtside?
If I'm LeBron, I just point at him.
I'm like, that guy.
So I've been watching more Lakers than I ever have.
What do you think of their play-by-play guys?
You ever deal with them?
They're very different. They have like a, they're real guys, you ever deal with them? They're very different.
They have like a, they're real LA, you know?
They like to call them the Don.
Like no one was doing that.
I hate that, I hate that.
But I'm just amazed really at how good LeBron still is.
You know what's crazy about it is I feel like with Luke,
and there's probably numbers of this, but with Luca, LeBron just gets to run so much more.
And the weird thing is like, it feels like that should be the first thing to go.
Like when Dirk started to really tail off, he couldn't get back down the floor.
Like Luca will just get a rebound and I'm like, is that LeBron at mid?
Yeah.
He's still like the fastest full court player in the league. That's the part that's insane to me about it.
He might be faster now than he was 10 years ago.
He's 40.
Do you enjoy the burbling LeBron steroid debate?
That seems like it comes up every couple,
couple months or something.
Look man, I wouldn't every couple of months or something.
Look man, I wouldn't be surprised if there's something.
Sure.
Like he's 40.
Figure it out.
Now there is no line, like Barry Bonds had a line where he all of a sudden changed, like
he looked different, his stats were different, like he was already one of the best players,
if not the best in baseball.
Then he started taking steroids and then he like went up. LeBron's has
just continued to be kind of where he is. In fact, his numbers are, you know, down
for who LeBron is. But when you look at 40-year-old LeBron, and I guess I remember little Dan remembers 40-year-old
Kareem.
And Kareem, at the age of 40, did play 80 games.
For what team?
For the Lakers.
For the Lakers, okay.
I didn't know if that was a random...
No, he retired with the Lakers.
He did the tour. Raptors jersey or something? But the Lakers, okay. I didn't know if there was a random. No, he retired with the Lakers. Okay.
He did the tour.
Raptors jersey or something.
He did the, I announced I'm retiring
and then every city had a thing for him.
Boots.
Yeah, like Cleveland had a motorcycle
or I don't know what it was.
How many guys have got motorcycles or guitars in Cleveland?
I think some people also gave out rocking chairs,
as I remember.
That's a fun list I should look up.
What was the LeBron or the Kareem tour?
Because Kareem did it.
Dr. J did it.
Was Cal Ripken?
Or no?
Did Cal Ripken ever announce that before the season?
I feel like he must have.
Because that's when the Rangers honored him with his own locker stall.
That's how I put those two stories together, yeah.
Anyway, LeBron at the age of 40, though, averaged 14.5 points a game.
Let's see. 14 and a half points, six rebounds a game. Hakeem. Hakeem went to
a random team. Is that who you're talking about? No, I'm saying who averaged 14 and
6? Oh, uh, Kareem. Okay, Kareem. That's okay. Just making sure we're on the same page here.
I don't know. Yeah, but I'm just looking at players who have played at the age of 40.
Remember Dirk. Was not anywhere near what Dirk was at his peak. LeBron's
averaging 24 and a half points a game. Eight and a half rebounds. Oh no, eight
and a half assists, eight rebounds. At 40.
I mean, in general, he just looks,
I mean, what's the minute?
Could he play five more years?
35 minutes a game.
Or will he never want to be like really,
Nah, yeah. Is he a top 10 player
in the NBA still?
Close, but no, I don't think he wants to be 44
and, you know, coming off the bench or something. I don't think he wants to be 44 and coming off the bench
or something, I don't see that.
Anyway.
Own a football team, but yeah, tomorrow night,
tomorrow night will be, is the most excited I've been
for a sporting event in my life.
Flat out.
Well, you're gonna be in it, I'm not excited as much as it's,
obviously anticipating it, but it's like,
it's just a sad feeling, it's a weird,
yeah, it's a weird feeling, it's not.
No, I'm gonna write an article about this
that I've started working on.
Basically, this is, I forgot to mention this
when we were talking to, when I say forgot,
I mean, I was scared. We were talking to a when I say forgot, I mean I was scared.
We were talking to a couple people on the street
in San Antonio and they were really into ghosts.
These people happen to be Latino
because I don't think it's even really a theory.
I'm interested in how much Mexican people
are interested in death.
They love it, folks.
And this is my, Luca coming to town
will be my annual sports Dia de los Muertos.
I will go to one game every year, I will yell,
I bought my tickets, I can say what I want,
and I will yell at anyone who will listen one time a year,
and this will be like my morning.
I will celebrate the dead.
Hmm.
The Dungs, the Dungs, the Dungs, the Dungs, the Dungs.
