The Dylan Gemelli Podcast - Episode #167: I Studied Health for 25 Years. The Answer Is GOD! Dylan Gemelli LIVE Speech at the Breakthrough in the Desert Event!
Episode Date: September 26, 2026Most people are chasing better health in the wrong order. They look for the next supplement, peptide, diet, drug, or shortcut... while IGNORING the foundation underneath all of it. After more th...an 25 years of studying hormones, peptides, nutrition, health, and wellness, Dylan explains why optimizing your bloodwork or diet may not be enough if you’re constantly stressed, unhappy, sleep-deprived, or stuck in fight-or-flight mode. He explores the connection between faith and health, mindset, nervous system regulation, gratitude, discipline, sleep, nutrition, stress, peptides, and longevity, and explains why the basics still matter more than the latest health hack. This episode isn’t about another shortcut to losing weight or feeling better. It’s about building the foundation that allows everything else to work. In this episode: ■ Why Dylan puts God first in his approach to health ■ The connection between faith, hope, love, and well-being ■ Why gratitude may be one of the most underrated health practices ■ Knowledge vs. Wisdom: Why knowing more isn’t enough ■ Why self-control and discipline affect almost every area of health ■ How chronic stress and fight-or-flight can affect how you feel ■ Ways Dylan uses prayer, breathwork, silence, and alone time to decompress ■ Why chasing health shortcuts usually leads to a longer road ■ Where peptides and supplements actually fit into a healthy lifestyle ■ Why sleep needs to become a non-negotiable ■ How your food choices affect more than your weight ■ Dylan’s framework for aligning your faith, mind, and body Chapters: (00:00) The Missing Piece (00:51) God First (02:27) The Virtues That Shape Your Health (03:40) Why So Many People Have Lost Hope (05:06) Knowledge vs. Wisdom (05:51) Self-Control Changes Everything (06:38) Vitamin G: The Power of Gratitude (07:53) Humility Matters (08:30) Are Happier People Healthier? How many people that are angry and negative and talking shit online all day and making comments about people and everything about them is negative?
How many of those people do you look at and say, wow, they look healthy?
I'm guaranteeing you the answer is zero.
I can fix you hormonally on your blood panels, do everything under the sun.
But if you're not right mentally, if your nervous system is off, those numbers are never going to fully align.
And we're going to be looking up and down on panels going, oh, wow, this looks good.
What the hell's wrong with me?
All of the knowledge in the world doesn't get you anywhere.
If you don't have the wisdom and what is wisdom, wisdom is knowing how to use it, how to implement
that throughout your life.
People ask me, what secret?
What's the magic?
How do I lose weight over night?
How do I do this?
How do I do that?
I have one simple answer.
It's no secret.
It's free of charge.
Welcome, everybody.
I'm really honored and excited to be here with you today.
And as Dr. Anthony said, you know, I've been studying hormones, pep,
peptides, nutrition, health and wellness, 25 years at least.
I started studying nutrition when I was 11 years old.
And I've been on this journey and this path of trying to figure out how to obtain total
health alignment.
What do I have to do?
And why am I not getting there?
Why do I feel like I have perfected my training, my diet?
And then I started to realize something was missing.
But what was it?
What is it that I'm just, I feel empty.
I'm not happy.
I feel like I have everything,
but why do I have nothing when I go to sleep at night?
So I started to piece things together,
and then everything came clear to me when I became God first.
And it's mind and body that people always talk about and spirit.
But in reality, for me, it was mind, body, and God.
And I'm going to explain to you how the answers are sitting right in front of our face.
and when we make the changes
internally
then it can come out externally
and
I want to drive this home
in a way that is easy to understand
I don't lecture
I don't do any of these things
I'm not Mr. PhD and everything
I don't have 25 letters after my name
I tell everybody I have a doctorate
in faith, hope and love and that's what I'm going to instill in you today
inspiration drive and motivation to teach you
how to overcome all of these things
that are present in the world today that are dragging you down health-wise, and we're going to
piece it all together, and I'm going to show you the way, the way that I have developed and the
way that I understand. You have to have a foundation. Foundation is everything. Every structure,
your marriage, your contracts, at your work, whatever it is. There's a foundation there,
and without a strong foundation, everything's going to fall apart. But something has to be constant,
right, because everything's ever changing. So the one constant that I have found that is,
everlasting is God. God is the constant that's not going to change. It's the one constant in the
foundation for how I've been able to obtain total health alignment. When you're able to prioritize
that first, it leads you into the direction that you need to go to get to where you want to be
health-wise. So what I want to talk to you about first are some of the virtues that are present,
that are talked about in the Bible, but then resonate throughout your whole life. Because I don't want
this to just be a Bible class. That's not what this is. But it shows you that there's actually a handbook
to life. Because I always used to tell people, there's no handbook to life. There's nothing there to tell you
exactly how to live. Life is trial and error, which a lot of it is. But there has to be guidance.
And when you start to develop these virtues, then you can see how it translates to neuroscience,
how it translates to everything that we do within our bodies, how we train, how we act, how we
function day in and day out. So you look right first you see faith, hope, and love.
Well, one of the things that we hear all the time is God is love. So if God is love and he created
us of love, that means that we have that inside of us. And I'm going to show you in a second
even studies that they've done at Harvard that show that the people that have the most love
are the healthiest. And I'm going to give you the full breakdown on that.
But one of the things that I see lacking so much everywhere is that hope.
People don't have it.
A lot of people feel hopeless.
And I'm going to cover that as well.
People become hopeless because there's so many different types of confusing information.
There's things in our ways day in and day out.
And then there's narratives that get passed around.
And I'm not going to get political by any stretch of the imagination.
But narratives all over media, social media, wherever.
that make people hopeless because of all the negative things that are present in our lives that are
getting thrown in our face every day. So developing hope gives you strength in all aspects of your life.
And then faith, when you have faith, when you have belief, you're ultimately going to create
yourself this sense of well-being, which is then going to translate into your overall health.
If you don't have faith in what you're doing, you can't have direction.
See, faith is what gives us the ability to move forward and to achieve.
You're not going to find negativity in people that are hopeless having total health.
And so developing these things intrinsically are then going to help us to become healthier.
Now, I talk about this a lot.
Wisdom and knowledge.
and I do this often because I know a lot of smart people.
I spent years studying, reading, memorizing, coming up with every single situation scenario
and study that I could put my hands on and read.
But all of the knowledge in the world doesn't get you anywhere if you don't have the wisdom.
And what is wisdom?
Wisdom is knowing how to use it, how to implement that throughout your life.
A lot of people are very smart.
but they give you the knowledge and they don't teach you how to use it or they don't know how to use it,
which creates chaos.
And that's going to affect us internally because our nervous system will deregulate when we have confusion and stress.
Then another one that I want to talk to you about is temperance.
And what is temperance?
Temperance is self-control.
Temperance is having the ability to stay moderated in what you're doing.
See, self-control affects us in all acts.
aspects of life. Think about people that don't have self-control when they're eating, for example,
which is part of the body that we're going to talk about. See, self-control is imperative.
If you don't have self-control, then you're not going to go to sleep when you need to go to
sleep. You're going to eat whatever you want whenever you want. You're not going to put forth
the most effort that you need to. You're going to have these habits like drinking, smoking,
or things that are going to be unhealthy. See, self-control will stop you from.
doing that that's temperance and then my favorite that I feel is the most
imperative vitamin that you can't buy you can't eat it it's vitamin G and it's
called gratitude the people that have gratitude and that have appreciation for
everything that they have going on in their life you're gonna find them to be the
healthiest and the happiest people you have to have gratitude and appreciation
to understand life.
Every single thing that we get to do.
From the moment you get to wake up,
the food that you get to eat,
the people that you get to talk to,
the fact that you even have a job.
See, I used to say this all the time.
I have to do this.
Oh, I have to go to this interview today.
Oh, I have to go and do these different types of things for work.
No, I get to.
You get to do these things.
These are blessings.
These things that we complain and,
moan about, ask yourself this. Sometime look in the mirror and say, well, what if I didn't have
this? Then the complaining would start. All of these things that you take for granted. See,
when they're gone, that's when you start to realize, uh-oh, uh-oh, what just happened here. So
gratitude is imperative. And then humility. And this one's lacking. I lacked this most of my
life, the more humble that you are and the more gracious that you are, the more you're going to
resonate with people, the more positive energy you're going to bring in the room, the more
people are going to be around you and the more successful you're going to be. But humility's lacking.
It's lacking and it's not easy to have. But when you have humility, you're able to put others ahead
of yourself. The sky's the limit on what you can do. So that's going to lead me into what I want to talk
about now when I said I had a Harvard study for you about health and happiness. And this study that
was cited in 2017, and they did it over, I think, 20, 25 years, it was showing how happiness
improved overall health. And this is why I talk about this so much. And I say this, this is a
rhetorical question. How many people that are angry and negative and talk about, and talk about, and I say, this is a
rhetorical question. How many people that are angry and negative and talking shit online all day
and making comments about people and just everything about them is negative? How many of those
people do you look at and say, wow, they look healthy? I'll wait. I'll wait because I'm,
guaranteeing you the answer is zero. People that are negative and angry and have no accountability
are always looking for excuses, I will bet you everything I own, you don't look at them and say,
wow, I bet you they're healthy.
No, you never will.
Because happiness and our mentality is one of the keys, I mean, healthy.
And the people that they found were happy, lower stress, stronger hearts because blood pressure
was lower, stress levels were lower.
See, what happens is when you have high amounts of stress, negative attitudes, guess what?
inflammation builds up and inflammation is basically where every disease starts every disease that we have in our bodies
generally is cellular we could argue some originate in the gut but mostly cellular but cellular disease comes from inflammation and all of these negative energies and things that are going on well guess what
it's because people aren't happy they're not fulfilled this is all proven this study proves it harvard and all be all even said it themselves you make
better choices, you're more active, you're happier to get out and do things, you're less secluded.
You have the ability to go and talk and communicate with people, which we need, we're designed to.
There's something that I want to point out. A lot of people are stuck now, texting, you can buy
a house over text. I make everybody get on the phone with me, I make everybody talk to me.
So there was a reason during COVID that we couldn't get out and interact and we had to do that.
now it's just an excuse. See, I believe in reasons and I believe in excuses and people like to
lean on crutches. There's no excuse for not getting out and talking with people and doing everything
the old school way where we can actually learn how to communicate. See, part of the problem why people are
unhealthy right now is because they do that and they don't know how to communicate. So we have to get past
that. No more excuses. Reasons foundational, yes. Excuses, no. We don't want to have that. And then people that
are happier have better immunity, your immune system will start to go down and be weaker. The
unhappier you are, the more stressed you are, and the more negative you are. I want to talk about
some health and happiness habits that people generally practice the healthier they are. So, you know,
people have more deep bonds with others, like I was talking about. They have better relationships,
better communication levels. They eat good foods. It's easy to fall into a
a trap of eating bad foods.
But ask yourself this.
McDonald's meal, Burger King meal, great for
five minutes. How do you feel after?
I'll wait again
because I guarantee you,
quote unquote, you feel like shit.
Because you do, because that's the foods that you're
eating, and the more that you eat
like that, the worst you're going to feel.
Remember, you are what you eat.
And so I'm going to get into that in a minute. We're going to go down
a list now of different types of foods
and why they're good for you and why some may not
be. But
But when you have this ability to cut out the habits, and this is what happy people do,
lead you to a healthier life, consistency and discipline.
These are some things that are quite hard to do, but once you develop them, you don't want to not have that.
See, that's the key that a lot of people have struggles with.
Reaching the goals, not the hard part.
Once you're there, then what?
when you win the championship great but the hard part is defending it or keeping it everything gets a little
bit harder and more difficult obtainment is one thing but then the consistency and the discipline is the
next thing so i want to talk to you now about the mind because once again after i got god first
then i realized uh-oh the mind is actually what is more important because it controls the body
See, some of the things of virtues that God gives us, perseverance, endurance,
yeah, those sound physical, right?
But your mind is telling you, I can or I can't.
Your mind is in control of everything that you're doing.
So your mind is telling you, I can't, when you actually can.
So you have to ask yourself this when you say, I can't.
Is it that I can't or I choose not to?
Well, chances are you're just choosing not to.
You have to learn how to get control of your mind.
So what I find now, especially over time,
and as I've talked to more neuroscientists and studied neuroscience myself,
we are stuck in a sympathetic state,
meaning we're constantly in fight or flight.
You have to get your body into a parasympathetic state.
So we have to work on resetting our nervous system.
I can fix you hormonally on your blood panels,
do everything under the sun.
But if you're not right mentally,
if your nervous system is off,
those numbers are never going to fully align,
and we're going to be looking up and down
and panels going, oh, wow, this looks good.
What the hell's wrong with me?
And that's when a doctor will tell you it's idiopathic
because they don't know the answer.
But I do know the answer.
There is no such thing as idiopathic.
There is no such thing as not having an answer.
God gave us a cure for everything.
And you can go back and read,
what does he talk about over and over and over?
Don't have fear. Have faith. This all ties into your mind and he was on to something clearly since he designed us
Those things are written in there and people take them in a literal sense but they apply to our everyday life
Don't have fear don't have stress why because then you're stuck in the sympathetic nervous state
Stimulation of vagus nerve just doesn't have to be by a wearable or a modality
That can be done through breathwork through prayer through time alone through silence
See, silence once in a while is a great thing because it allows us to decompress, to open up our mind,
to then open up our hearts, to then understand what life was meant to be.
See, we don't take the time to do that anymore.
There's too many moving parts.
There's too many things to scroll and too much nonsense to listen to and too many negative
things going on around us.
It create distraction.
But you've got to take the time for yourself, to find yourself.
see alone time is a good thing to then allow you to move forward in your life so that you can gather your thoughts
I go through this daily where I have to tell myself man you're too distracted chill out like relax
take some time do some breath work and get your mind right but so many people are under these high levels of stress
lack of sleep and they're not taking care of their mind which then in turn doesn't allow us to take care of our body so then we get to the body
This is my specialty, my expertise area.
But we have to go through the other things that I was talking about first.
And then we can really work on the body because, like I said,
if you don't have temperance, well, you're not going to have good eating habits.
You're going to overeat.
You're not going to be consistent, et cetera.
All of these things, these points that I brought up, see, they trickle down into everything
else that we're doing.
So let's talk about the body.
Let's talk about what people are always after and chasing, the shortcut.
Let me find the next drug that will help me lose weight, the next GOP, the next supplement.
Guess what?
Shortcuts lead to a longer road.
There is no shortcuts.
Everything in life that we do takes time.
Now, I say it's a marathon, not a sprint.
I need to be sped up a little bit.
I get that.
But when we try to chase everything and get it all at once, which again, I can speak on very well
because I did it most of my life and realized how wrong it was,
you're never going to get what you want.
See, patience is a virtue.
Again, one of the virtues.
So we have to be patient and understand
you're not going to lose 50 pounds overnight
and if you do it's bad.
It's unhealthy for multitudes of reasons.
And I see people constantly looking for this shortcut.
When it comes to anything that we do
with our bodies, with our training, with our health,
we have to be willing to put in the time
and put in the effort
and going to have to suffer a little bit,
that that's part of this,
because without suffering and without loss or struggle,
how do we even know what success is?
You can't.
You can't define it, because you never know.
It's important to embrace it.
See, and I'm going to relate this back to the Bible again,
when Jesus says, and they tell you to carry your cross,
that doesn't mean actually physically picking up a cross
and carrying or getting crucified.
What it means is being willing to suck it up
and to endure, to go through some things, to then win, to then win and know that you can overcome
anything.
I have gone through so many things where I made mistakes, and I used to beat myself up over it and
go, why would you do these and why did you do these things?
But it got me up here talking to you now to explain to you that you're going to make
mistakes, you're going to have all of these struggles, and you're either going to let them
make you or break you.
They don't make me, they shaped me for who I became now.
And that's the key. Getting down on yourself and beating yourself up is not going to get you anywhere.
If you have a bad day, you eat bad one day. So what? Fix it the next day. Use it as a learning tool and as a
mechanism to help you to get through the next day. Yeah, I did that yesterday. So what? I'll fix it
tomorrow. Don't be reliant on supplements. Supplement. What does that mean? It means it's a supplement
for what you need to be doing. They're there for a purpose and a reason. I'm all about it.
I can sit here.
I discovered peptides in 2011.
I've been talking about them forever.
They're beautiful.
They're alternative medicines.
I think they're the future.
But once again, what good is it if your nervous systems deregulated?
Do you have all these other problems?
They're not going to fix that.
So these things, they're beautiful.
They're great.
But you have to prioritize.
Sleep.
Sleep is literally one of the most important aspects of health and recovery.
And I bet you you go around the room,
most people probably don't either prioritize it
or do it the best.
And one of the things that I've learned is lack of sleep
is one of the biggest causes of disease.
It will break your attitude.
It will break your rhythm.
And it will make you far less functional and far less successful
in everything that you do.
That has to be one of the main priorities that you have.
But why do people struggle with sleep?
Well, they scroll at night.
They're stressed.
Their minds are all over the place.
There you go.
So what do we do? We have to decompress. We need that alone time. That's where we revert back to the breathwork. So we have to prioritize sleep.
You know, your diet will hurt you with your sleep. If you're eating garbage throughout the day, processed foods, high sugar diets, it's going to affect your sleep.
Remember what I said earlier, you are what you eat. Food is medicine. So if you're eating things that are harmful, guess what?
if food is medicine that can also be something that harms you if you're not eating the right kind of foods
i understand and this doesn't make any sense to me but this is the reality that we live in
there's some things that are unavoidable eating healthy unfortunately costs way more so you have
to prioritize what am i spending my money on where could i cut something off and change it to the food
that i'm buying because let's face it you're putting this in your body so what's more important
than what you put in your body.
Is it the beer or the alcohol you needed?
Is it going out to dinner one night?
Or could you avoid that cook at home and take care of yourself?
Remember something too.
And this is another thing that relates.
There's selfishness that you don't realize you're being selfish on.
Because think about if you have kids, grandkids,
even people that you work with,
if you're not healthy and you're not taking care of yourself,
isn't that quite selfish to the people that love you and care about you?
So you have to remember that too.
Another lesson that I had to learn on all the things that I was doing wrong,
and I wasn't caring about the people that cared about me.
So keep note of all of these things.
When you have that God-first mentality,
it's direct in everything that you do.
It's direct in every single thing that you do.
When he teaches you to love, when he teaches you all of these virtues,
they relate to every aspect of health.
See, I used to think science was evil.
bad. I had it in my head forever. Think about how intricately detailed our bodies are. How many cells are in our bodies.
How we're constructed and made. That wasn't by chance. That was by design. That was planned out.
So there's things here for every aspect of life. There's something here to heal everybody. I don't care what anybody says. It's there. I'm not going to be conspiratorial here, but we're
We know what goes on.
There's things here to heal.
There's ways of life that will make things better for you.
That people try to take away from you.
Don't let anybody take those from you.
Everybody's going to believe what they want to believe.
I'm not up here to force feed anybody, anything.
I'm not your dad.
You will do whatever you want to do.
But what I'm telling you from a person that's coming at you
from real world experience that's gone through everything
that has had an abundance, got it taken away, reduced to nothing, and back to everything,
and in between.
All of that stuff is minimal.
It comes and it goes.
Your health doesn't.
You've got one life, you've got one body, you've got one...
Prioritizing that over everything else, all the noise, all the nonsense.
All of these things that are just here and there, put yourself first.
Take care of yourself.
get everything aligned
be happy be healthy
be gracious
be somebody that is a beacon of light
to people around you
I'm not saying every single person's got to get up stage
and whip up this big speech
like I'm doing right now everybody's got
something special that you do
every single person in here
we're all the same
nobody that gets up here or does anything
or all these celebrities and all this bullshit
everybody's the same don't look at anybody
and act like they're God
or something special. They're not. Every single person in here has something special they do
that they can offer and you have to find that within and then do it and do it your best.
That's what you were put here for. You were put here for each other. Everybody here will be
the healthiest and the happiest they are if they carry gratitude and they realize that everybody
here is all on the same page. We're here to love. We're here to live. And we're here to be as
happy as we can. And the more of that that you have, the healthier you're going to be. I don't,
People ask me, what's your secret?
What's the magic?
How do I lose weight over night?
How do I do this?
How do I do that?
I have one simple answer.
It's no secret.
It's free of charge.
Become God first.
You love everybody else around you and everything else will fall into place.
That's it.
So, prioritize that.
Prioritize your health.
Prioritize taking care of your life and those around you.
And I assure you you will always, always, always find yourself the happiest you can be.
and that, my friends, is my way of obtaining total health alignment.
