Starting point is 00:00:00 Just don't call it a podcast. The Ebro-Lara Rosenberg shows. Ebro-Lara and Rosenberg today. Getting to a few things here. It looks like we got, wow, outlawing abortions nationwide. John Stewart and Fetterman, I enjoyed that. Oh, me too. That was a good one.
Starting point is 00:00:39 Abdul-Sayed. Are you saying like Trump? Abdul. Because you know, they say he's a Democratic socialist. Spooky policy. Oh, and he's got a Muslim name. Not skinny like Mom Donnie either. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:01:02 He's got a beard and he's Muslim. But yeah, he's the Democratic nominee for Senate in Michigan now. Yeah. Well, let's jump right into it. Then here he is. Clip 23 there, Rassant, calling for unity as they moved to a, go against the the MAGA endorsed Republican nominee in Michigan for November. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people, instead of government of the
Starting point is 00:01:27 corporations, by the special interests, and for the billionaire. You had the audacity to believe in that. They weren't going to give up lightly. We all knew they were going to spend their money. We didn't know they were going to spend $70 million of their money. We didn't know that they were going to outspend us $11 to $1 to $1. And yet we're still standing. We are not a purple state.
Starting point is 00:01:53 We are a state in need of a movement. Praise, how are you going to beat Mike Rogers and their money? I want you to remind them that if we come through this, when we come through this, inshallah, that will have taken $70 million on the chin and kept fighting back. But I also want to speak. To this moment, we've got 13 weeks to defeat Mike Rogers. And however we might feel about the campaign we've just come through, I want you to understand that it pales in comparison to the cynicism,
Starting point is 00:02:38 in comparison to the corporatism, in comparison to the lies that Mike Rogers and Donald Trump are going to tell. However much, we might disagree with our Democratic. opponent, there is so much more that unites us than divides us. So to all of our supporters here tonight, watching on TV, tomorrow we begin to mend fences. Whatever happens tonight, we have a responsibility to assure that we unite to make sure that Mike Rogers never sees the inside of the U.S. Senate. So right now, right now, the... The Republicans have 53 seats in the Senate and the Democrats have 45 seats in the Senate.
Starting point is 00:03:29 And there's two independent seats. But both of those independents, well, I don't think is burning. So they caucus with the Democrats. Right. Both with Democrats. Both with Democrats. Okay. And so that, let's just call it 53-47, which if you get, and now this seat would make it 48.
Starting point is 00:03:49 If you win it. If you win it, right? 52-48. 5248. And I'm not, and Griff, can you do the research? What are the other Senate seats? I mean, it's a bunch. Up for grabs that would, you know,
Starting point is 00:04:02 create some sort of balance of power, right? Some sort of check and balance in. Because that's what everybody's gunning for, just so everybody's clear, which is why we're paying attention to this in Michigan so closely and midterm so closely is because what you're hoping for in November is a situation where the,
Starting point is 00:04:23 Crimes you have become aware of Like this one right here Go to clip 12 Rassan Where you have Capital One bank closing 300 Trump bank accounts Okay
Starting point is 00:04:45 Over money laundering concerns Yep Yeah So now How do you enforce that though? The only way you're going to enforce that is if you're you get some sort of balance of power in the legislative branch, which is, you know, Congress, which starts, is,
Starting point is 00:05:09 and then you got to get it in the Senate and in the House. 33 Senate seats are up, and another two are up for special election. Of the 33 scheduled, Democrats control 13, Republicans, 20. So there's a lot of, room for change. So that's what everybody's fighting for. That's the one or that's the big
Starting point is 00:05:37 conversation going into the midterms. Republicans want to maintain power so they can keep doing what's going on right now. Essentially you win a few seats. If you win a few seats, you would essentially shut down most of what Donald Trump would be capable of doing for the next two years. That's right. So it's I mean
Starting point is 00:05:53 I don't want to say it's about saving society as we know it. But it's pretty close. There's some pressure. There's some pressure on the midterms. There you go. Farah, Laura, what are you looking at for the rundown today? There's a couple of things. There's one thing that shocked me this morning.
Starting point is 00:06:11 Perez Hilton. I saw this. Yeah, he had to be, he was self-harming himself. And police came and it became a whole thing. It's a very scary story. I was shocked when I read the detail, so I'll give you the scoop later on. I'm very curious because when I looked, I was about to go to bed at the one article I looked at, It didn't get into what the details were.
Starting point is 00:06:31 I just read that they showed up and his family was there. It was kind of like, hey, we got it. It's okay. Yeah, it's darker than that. It's darker than that. Yeah. So we'll cover it later on. And then, you know what?
Starting point is 00:06:43 I'm excited about Joe Button's new project. Yeah, it looks pretty good. That's right up your alley. I mean, so we'll talk about that coming up in the rundown. Right up Laura's alley. Uh-huh. Now, you guys are saying people, I didn't see this. So I don't know who sent this over, but people upset about,
Starting point is 00:06:59 Abdul al-Said's win. It's official Abdul-El-Said won, and here come the meltdowns. His policy believes they are dark, they are scary. El-Saiad is vowing to eliminate private health insurance in favor of a single-payer system. El-Sahad wants to abolish ICE, reduce military spending. No! Learn from the young voters who are, you know, for Haley Stevens. They're afraid.
Starting point is 00:07:24 Abdul, we're looking at Mao. We're looking at Che Guevara. This is literally a communist takeover of the Democrat Party. A man named Abdul al-Said is about to become the first Muslim socialist ever nominated for the United States Senate in Michigan. And does he kind of look like somebody you might be familiar with? Maybe that other socialist Muslim who's always smiling, the one in New York City. Not in the slightest, you racist fuck, but a common theme of the election coverage had to do with Abdul's criticism of Israel. At its core, a platform of obsessive dislike of Israel.
Starting point is 00:08:03 El-Saiad seems to bring up Israel and A-PAC constantly. And the Democratic Party is making clear they want nothing to do with anybody who supports the fact that our ally, Israel, is fighting against these terrorists in the Middle East. His position is for a full military embargo of the state of Israel. We can't even sell weapons to Israel, even if they're defensive. Okay. But the reason he talks so much about Israel is, so much about Israel was because interest groups like APEC spent nearly $30 million trying to influence the outcome of this race. And a lot of those pundits want to speak for voters and say
Starting point is 00:08:39 that his views are just too extreme. Well, the voters made it clear what they think. Abdul. And why is that? Because he doesn't take money from APEC. I'm not voting for anybody who takes money from APEC. And why is that? Because the money should be spent here. I don't want somebody in somebody else's pocket. Overall change and people who had an independent view and thought process of what's right for the voters, not what's right for corporate packs. Hey, Democrats, the voters just sent you a loud and clear message. Listen to them.
Starting point is 00:09:13 There's a lot of messages coming to the Democrats. Not lots. Now, the interesting part will be like Abdul just said, the general is going to be a big fight because Michigan is a tough state. This isn't like a guaranteed win for the Dems by any means. No matter who won. Right, right, right. They're going to have a battle with Rogers come November either way.
Starting point is 00:09:33 So the hope is, as he talked about mending fences, is he able to grab some of those other Democrats and get enough to win in November? Because according to Van Jones, they're scared. Scared for their lives, man. They're walking on the street. They don't know what to do. The word was that Abdul-Sahed doesn't consider himself a Democratic socialist. Like, that's not what he's...
Starting point is 00:09:58 He's not of the DSA. A what? Democratic soldiers. But who cares? Clearly, a lot of people in the Democratic Party, so I was going to talk about like this mending of fences or whatever this mending needs to be.
Starting point is 00:10:16 Well, he just means, I think, that they went to war. He went to war with a centrist Democrat. Right, right. And in that, it got nasty. Hey, let's all get together. We really only disagree on a few things. as opposed to the bag of dude we're up against.
Starting point is 00:10:27 I know, but I'm curious. I'm curious Rosenberg if they're going to support him. Yeah, well, yeah, I don't. Listen, some will. There will obviously be some people who are voting for the Democrat who may have just liked the other Democrat because they did. And they're like, all right, now I'm going to support this guy. And then I'm sure there were some who were like, oh, my God,
Starting point is 00:10:45 he hates Israel or he, you know, I just wonder why people care so much about the, we talked about the some yesterday, I believe, the DSA labeling. It's like I don't And John Stewart talked about in the clip that we'll get to with Federman I was gonna just go to that right now Because the whole labeling of what you are It's a two-party system
Starting point is 00:11:05 I don't really care what Well yeah I don't know which part of it Because John Stewart clips kind of long So I don't know what Rassan actually clip from it But It's good The question because inside the Republican Party
Starting point is 00:11:17 You have different factions Sure That all kind of lead up into the main part Even when they did the Tea Party thing Right The Tea Party thing didn't break up the Republicans. Well, you've also had
Starting point is 00:11:26 you've had progressives inside the Democratic Party. AOC's been in there. Bernie's been in there. You've had different factions inside the Democratic Party for a long time. Independence, we just talked about, there's two independent senators in there, caucusing with the Democrat.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Yeah, all the squad are in one kind of area. Jamal Bowman was in that, you know, so there's always been different stuff. The name DSA, it's honestly more important to the way the right will attempt to divide the Democrats than anything. And clearly the Democrats are okay
Starting point is 00:11:58 playing into their strategy and giving them ammo, which is something we should pay attention to it because that's kind of peculiar behavior that you would give your opponent. Ammunition. Show the fractures as you're going into a very, very
Starting point is 00:12:17 important midterm. Yeah, they've been... Like, that's odd, right? Am I on the only... which I think points to the money involved that goes to the likes of the Van Joneses and the Corey Bookers and these people who are, we know, very, very cozy with A-PAC and Israel and I don't know what other corporate packs they're interested in, right? Like playing this middle ground when you see voters saying, hey, this isn't
Starting point is 00:12:46 what we want, guys. So let's look at Federman and Stewart real quick. So for you, you could agree with them 90%, but Israel is the red line. Absolutely. Israel, for me. Like I can't ever turn my back to Israel after after where it's at. So and and I mean no disrespect on this, but that is not our country. You're saying that these candidates may have great ideas for our economy. They may want to do the exact same thing you want to do in terms of getting money out of politics. They may want to increase the social safety net. They may want to change the balance of power from capital back to labor. But if they don't agree with you on Israel, you don't want them in your party.
Starting point is 00:13:31 Well, I don't know who you're referencing to specifically. No, I'm referencing what you just said. So in other words, Syed or AOC or Bernie Sanders, I assume you agree with a lot of what they say economically. And what I'm saying is like if you are a DSA member, if you are a member of a specific political party, run under your own banner. And now I think Bill Maher said something very unsightfully, said, you know, the DSA are colonizing, colonizing the Democratic Party. So just be Democrats, if you're going to run under the Democratic Party for that.
Starting point is 00:14:10 Why have a DSA party for overall? So run on that. And you all understand. It's just an organization. It's not, we have a two-party system. We don't, it's like the Freedom Caucus in the Republican Party. There are, you know, there's Randy Fine and Ogles and all these. nutbags that are also part of an area and Republicans, I'm sure, may not agree with all of them
Starting point is 00:14:32 on all kinds of things, but there is no other party. I guess you could try it, but my point is, if you don't disagree with them on a lot of things, why not use some of that energy? And even like, Mamdani in New York is DSA, but there are things in the DSA platform that he disagrees with. Federman is one of the weirdest people in the Senate. And that's a very strong thing to say. Why? Because there's a lot of weirdos. Yeah. And he's, he's truly like... I think it's clear, after watching that, it's clear that he knows he's not going to get elected.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Yeah. And he's getting paid. But he's been, this is what he's been like. He became like this weird APEC drone a few years ago. That's what I'm saying. It just kind of happened. Well, someone in the comments says he's a stroke patient with expressive ofphasia and verbal processing deficits. his own chief of staff published a letter to the Walter Reed officials
Starting point is 00:15:30 that Federman was out of control and ignoring all medical instructions. Yeah, that was like a year ago. Something like that. That there were people around him saying like he's not well. This is not who we know him to be. But it's been a weird, it's been over time. It's really been like since October 7th, he's like really been a crazy person. And that's now coming up on three years.
Starting point is 00:15:54 But like people used to really like John Fetterman thought he was like a true progressive. Well, it was the hoodie. Yeah. See, I told you guys he stopped wearing the hoodie as much. Now he's got a student tie on that. I know. He was all tidied up. So funny, because what I didn't like was the hoodie.
Starting point is 00:16:09 Right. I remember you saying you were like, I don't like that. It doesn't look good. Like it was, it wasn't like, listen, we're a cool hoodie. I'm all good. But, you know, a luxury hoodie? No problem. He was like your Russell athletic joint to the Senate?
Starting point is 00:16:20 Well, but that's how easily people were conned, right? Just something that simple. like he refuses to dress. I like that guy. He's going to go in there and change it up. A lot of people fall for that stuff, man. And by the way, I think on both sides, we all fall for like this hopeful thing
Starting point is 00:16:36 that someone's going to go in there and change it up. That's the whole thing that we're doing right now with the whole Democratic Socialist. True. That clip is good, though, because it really shows you. And I encourage everyone to watch the longer version because John Stewart just lays it out for him.
Starting point is 00:16:55 He's like, so this is the only thing. And he's pretty much like, yeah. But it confuses me, Laura. Guys like him are what make me think I really go back to the Jews being the pawn in the Israel thing because I don't understand his commitment to it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, even though I will fight and really get angry
Starting point is 00:17:17 with Jewish people that I know who are dumb on Israel, I at least have some understanding of how they got there and how they're being misled on it. I get the heartstrings being pulled out. Yes, yes, yes. I don't get it. John Fetterman's not Jewish, guys. There's no connection.
Starting point is 00:17:33 He doesn't have some. Maybe it's the U.S. ally thing. Maybe people have that. Like, just because they're an ally means you just believe in like what it's the only. We have a mad allies. No, if you mess with England, I'm not rocking with you. No, that would be a thing for some. For sure.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Maybe somebody closied up to him and like had a one-on-one. and then the check and then you know what I mean? Maybe it was a whole... Well, I think that's a part of it too, but... Yeah, I'm just like, it just seems so, like, weird that you become like this bot. I hear you. That's all I care about.
Starting point is 00:18:00 It's like, well, there's money in it too. Like, let's never forget the money part. The part Laura mentioned, but also even like right now when we're talking about Iran, right? People are paid by the military industrial complex lobby. Like, that's a thing, too. The Lockheed Martins and people who go to Capitol Hill and pay, you know,
Starting point is 00:18:20 lobbyists to get more military spending, right? The big headline the other day was that we'd unused all of our stockpile, which means somebody's got to buy more. Got to fire them up. There's a report. I'm sure it'll start circulating. I saw it yesterday. I didn't bring it in, but there's a report about how much money the oil companies
Starting point is 00:18:42 have made since the Iran. conflict, let's call it. Like, I think one of the Saudi oil companies has made like $33 billion. I think, is it Shell, one of those, BP or one of those, $6 billion. And that's directly coming from us, the people who have to pay more in gas prices.
Starting point is 00:19:16 And then obviously people who own stock in any of these oil companies. companies, they're going to make a lot of money too. Right? And so there's financial interest in some of these alignments. It's not just some moral issue. Yeah. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:19:33 They're playing with people who they know have a moral issue, right? But for their own financial gain. And that's the piece you, you know, you got to pay attention to. And remember the Saudis in Iran, they don't really get along and they compete for the oil. And now Iran's like, they'll never be a time. when the straight of Hormuz is a free-flowing open waterway. Somebody's going to have to pay.
Starting point is 00:19:57 That's a part of the negotiation. Remember, this used to be a free open waterway before this conflict. Visit BetMGM Casino and check out the newest exclusive. BetMGM operates pursuant to an operating agreement with Eye Gaming Ontario. Now they're like, yeah, nah. We had never heard of it because it was just open. Right. And now all we know about is, oh, we got to get it open.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Yo, hit the button, bro. It's crazy. But I guess what I'm saying is that is a part of the strategy. Somebody people are making money on this Yeah Off of us Oh yeah There's an and they're the only benefit
Starting point is 00:21:01 What's the benefit? There is no benefit Not for us Nothing But what about for Lockheed Martin Well You know
Starting point is 00:21:09 They get into that guap Yeah I don't have a horn I don't know I wanted an air horn Yeah for the guap Did you Speaking of an air horn
Starting point is 00:21:22 Ebrod you see the Yankees' newest, biggest prospect debuted with a home run yesterday? I did not. George Lombard Jr. Shout to George Lombard Jr. Great job. He is the guy who everyone was excited about potentially. You know, Yankee fans get really obsessed with.
Starting point is 00:21:37 The farm system. Who the next prospect is. Let's go to our resident Yankee Paine. So he came up. The Yankees basically didn't make any big moves. And the word is it's because other teams were asking for George Lombard Jr. And they're like, nah. So then immediately the second after the deadline, they brought him up.
Starting point is 00:21:57 Kind of like, hey, we didn't make any moves. We're about to show you why. Okay. This is who we got. Balpy out. Lombard in. Shortstop. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:22:07 debut game. Home run for the kid. Yankees win. King Lou. That was his first hit. First hit. First home run. First home run.
Starting point is 00:22:19 Yeah. That's fire. And Ebro. I thought you would enjoy him. Give me the little article on George Lombard Jr.'s grandma. Grandma's a criminal. Yeah. George Lombard Jr.
Starting point is 00:22:32 Looks like she got in some good trouble. That's that good trouble. Selma, 1965, ends up jailed. 300 pages of an FBI file. His dad's black, his mom's white. All right. And apparently that good white, grandma was down there in Selma fighting for people's rights.
Starting point is 00:22:51 So, you know, the Yankees, we've always had some conversations about the leanings of the Yankees. So nice to have a star maybe on George Lombard Jr. who comes from good stock, someone to root for in the Bronx. Well, I mean, look, you know, we don't really know people's, you don't really know too much about Yankee players' private political leanings. That's never really been a thing. No, but that's why you're kind of like. You can assume things because none of them have facial hair and they don't get to talk. So you just figure like they're all aligned. And when Trump came to the thing, they all kind of just lined up except for two of them.
Starting point is 00:23:34 Stanton and Jazz Chisholm were basically the only people who weren't seen. What about the big Charlie Kirk Memorial thing that they did? And they did the Charlie Kirk Memorial thing. But you didn't hear, but I guess my point is it's not like being outspoken traditionally is a big Yankees. I mean, it's not really a big baseball thing. Let's be honest. But you have to be honest, too. It's not a big baseball thing because baseball really also isn't that progressive a space.
Starting point is 00:23:59 If we're being honest about it. Yeah. Well, there's also like my main issue, one of my main issues with baseball for the last 15, 20 years. There's no black players. Well, yeah, there's also not a lot of black American players at all. So. And then the white players are just, I think, I have been told by a lot of people in professional sports that you show me a white pro athlete. they're basically at this stage
Starting point is 00:24:24 a very high percentage are magnet which I find to be fascinating because so many athletes if you were a serious athlete depending on your sport of course but you were likely playing and teammates with so many people of diverse backgrounds
Starting point is 00:24:41 and yet privately what you decide to support is that I just find it bizarre of so anyways to just hear of a player I mean that's just America I know I know You mean to be in the world with all these other people? That's right. And then just go home and be a racist.
Starting point is 00:24:54 That's right. Yeah. I guess it just hurts more for sports because I enjoy it and want to believe in the team camaraderie and the whole thing. Well, there is camaraderie around the game. But you go home to your family and thou shalt never mix. That's right. So it was just cool, though, to see that this kid, the first story out about him is this thing moving around. No, it's a cool.
Starting point is 00:25:14 It's a cool little tidbit. You know what I mean? And now he's got to perform because if he doesn't, they're going to throw it in his face. Yeah. Yeah. If he turns out to be all-time great, it's a positive thing. That's right. If he turns out to suck, negative.
Starting point is 00:25:27 It's your grandmother's fault. Oh, my God. She was a race mixer. Oh, no. So anyways, shout out to George Lombard Jr. I thought that was cool. You know what I mean? Cool story, bro.
Starting point is 00:25:37 Very cool. 844-E-L-R-3. We always love hearing for you if you got time while you're moving around today. We have, I know we did some Envision Fest giveaways earlier this week. Do you still have any left? Yes. Yes, yes. Do you want to do some official ones here? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:53 And then because Beverly Monroe, remember we shouted out that company earlier. Do we still have that stuff? Because we're going to give away some Beverly Monroe products, which is, this is easily the most glammed out femme thing I've ever given away in my history. No, maybe not in the history. But it's pretty close. No, listen. Look at, look at the brush is blinged out. What is it the sparkles, you bro?
Starting point is 00:26:18 Or the pink? streamers. I just, I don't think I've ever given away eyelashes. There's some, yeah, there's some lashes in here. It's a cute box, a mix full of a lot of good things. And shout, it's Beverly Monroe.com, but it's just a dope box of, uh, box with the chart with the, it's a stunning too. It's a flat iron.
Starting point is 00:26:35 A mini, a mini flat iron. Yeah, so it's good for travel. That's dope. So it's cute. No, listen, anyone who receives this will be very happy because there's, there's a mixture of must haves when you travel. So it's pretty cute. So how about this?
Starting point is 00:26:47 Yeah. Let's say we give away Not only a box of Beverly Monroe goodies And that same person wins a pair tickets to Envision Fest All right, call right now 8-44-E-L-R-E-L-R-3 Yes, producer Griff from downtown Yeah, we only have one box right now Yes, but you know, producer Griff, two people
Starting point is 00:27:05 Get two callers for Envision Fest ticket And then it's cool, on Sunday we have the girl J-T will be our keynote speaker Okay And then we just have a lot of fun things A lot of activations, brand activations, Foot Lockers are main sponsor. They're doing a pitch competition, giving out small grants.
Starting point is 00:27:22 It's going to be really cool. You know, we've been talking off the air about how much politics we cover on the show because I think all of us agree. We get tired of it, right? Yeah. And we could talk about random rap messiness and whatnot. But it feels like everything leads back to politics. So Laura's been doing Envision Fest for seven years.
Starting point is 00:27:43 And Envision Fest purpose is. So the festival. The festival helps us fund our foundation. We're a 501C3. Okay. I have a mentorship program that I launched at the beginning of the year where I team young folks with incredible women in their fields, right? Or in their perspective fields, along with their parents.
Starting point is 00:28:02 So we carry them through, and then we give them just access to cool things. Like last year we were able to take 30 girls that had never left the city before, up to Cold Springs for a day of just, like, hiking. It went to a farm to table restaurant. And it was just beautiful. we do a huge prom drive. I dressed me and Sharifa, dressed and our team,
Starting point is 00:28:22 dressed 200 girls that we're not going to go to prom. We work with NYC homeless youth, after school programs, public school teachers. I mean, I just feel like every young person deserves their special moment. You know,
Starting point is 00:28:34 these girls didn't have a quinceaniera, Sweet 16, so it's important for them to go and be able to get a quality dress. So we team up with the, with Bam, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, which have been wonderful partners. Because getting a space in New York City,
Starting point is 00:28:46 to activate his world. Very hard. There's hell. But yeah, we do a huge hygiene drive at the end of the year where we team up with the community to build these what we call dignity bags where we fill them up with essentials, feminine hygiene products, shampoos, lotions, toothbrushes, just essential things that women and homeless shelters do not get. Got it. So, and on top of that, you know, we try to get them cool workout classes, maybe a Pilates
Starting point is 00:29:11 class, you know, just things that cost money that these girls don't have access to it. And if you pay attention because it's always political, they have cut so many programs after school programs. So these kids don't have nowhere to go. Well, so that's why I was bringing it up because while Laura's out here doing something positive and you go, hey, yo, Laura's doing something awesome. She has an event.
Starting point is 00:29:30 The girl JT showing up, da-da-da-da. Yeah. Laura, you guys have been doing it seven years. And in the last year, how has been, how has getting sponsors and corporations involved in Invention Festco? It's been incredibly difficult. I told you guys, like last year I told Rosenberg, he was like, why are you so bummed? I was like, yo, a lot of the incredible women who saw and believed in our work that worked at all these companies got fired.
Starting point is 00:29:56 Specifically, black women and some Latino women, but black women because of DEI. So those are the women that worked at those corporations that saw the work that we did cared enough to be like, hey, I want to help fund your work. And now they're gone. So it's always political guys. That's the thing. It always goes back to it. Yeah. Well, unfortunately, the whole nature of why you need to have the program in the first place is political.
Starting point is 00:30:18 Right. Well, I guess, you know, as much as we just try to have fun, the funding of everything, like even I saw, I saw speaking, and I know you're going to cover this in the rundown. Yeah. Joe Button's new podcast or a new endeavor, which we all think is awesome. I saw him and Ian Schwarzenman being interviewed about it. Yeah, by Forbes. By Forbes, yes. where Ian Swartzman brings up the fact that even Joe Button,
Starting point is 00:30:45 one of the biggest podcasts in the world, doesn't get on certain advertising buys because of racism. Is Ian Schwartzman talking about it? This isn't Joe Button talking about. It's the white guy saying, I'm in the rooms with people and they're not quite sure if we should be. And Ian basically says if Joe Button was a white guy, the money would be much bigger.
Starting point is 00:31:12 Yeah. Which is crazy because he already makes a lot of money. But yeah, I believe it. But it's not Joe Rogan money. Correct. You should I mean? Or it's not. And then when you look at the Forbes list, you go, you have to get out of the top 10 before you see, I think, any women faces, let alone black faces.
Starting point is 00:31:27 Oh, there was no, black women on that list. There was no, no, no, Alex Cooper's there. By the way, I don't believe a lot of the numbers in the entire list. You feel better. But it doesn't change the order of it. That's right. Or who's represented. That's right.
Starting point is 00:31:39 Yeah. No women of color, I don't think. No. Just a couple of white women. And this was all about money's made. Yes. This necessarily wasn't. Human monies made, someone's said.
Starting point is 00:31:48 That's right. But once again, we're just talking about podcast, content, sharing content. Still political. Still political, yeah. You know what I mean? But also we're affected by the fact that just hasn't been like just hip hop doesn't have stories to move around that are fun. I've been, like I've been, you guys know this, I've been a radio 30 years. I remember the day the advertising agency sent a facts.
Starting point is 00:32:12 to radio stations telling by accident, what happened by accident, an advertising agency said a fax by accident to radio stations. It was intended for ad agencies telling them to not advertise with hip hop genre radio stations. And it said, do you want clients or culprits? Nah, that's crazy. What?
Starting point is 00:32:38 Al Sharpton got a hold of it. There was a whole thing that turned into. this agreement between advertising agencies saying they were mandated to do certain advertisement with radio station had to spend a certain percentage. And this is the 90s, bro. No matter how high hot 97 was in the ratings, Z100 still got on more buys and made more money. Oh, yeah. Yeah, of course.
Starting point is 00:33:03 When I got to ESPN, we didn't have nearly the numbers hot 97 had from an overall, you know, listener standpoint. and the money coming in, I feel like, was already better. Yeah. And with way less listeners. And I could feel, I mean, as much as I loved working at the station still do, and the business has now changed a lot, you could feel that it didn't have the cultural impact day to day that hot did at that time.
Starting point is 00:33:26 That's right. I'm not going to lie. It's not the same at this moment. But at that time. And the money was just immediately different because there's just people willing to, who want to spend. They want to do buys with the guys who they relate to and that they feel like are their people. And the people running the advertising
Starting point is 00:33:41 agencies are mostly not us. Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, you hear Roland Martin always screaming about this. Like, he's like, yo, advertising dollars do not come to, like, black media. It's a thing. Like, he's, like, I've listened to some of his rants and I'm like, oh my, it's
Starting point is 00:33:57 everything he's saying is facts. Yeah, they don't believe that the, they basically don't believe that black consumers have money. Then they basically don't believe that black consumers or brown consumers want to buy normal products and spend money on things that everybody wants to spend money on. So it's just up and down the board,
Starting point is 00:34:12 it is completely biased. And if you were to look at something like the breakfast club, someone would probably say, oh, well, look at them. I bet they're doing great. The breakfast club's buys are definitely all rolled in with Z-100's buys. Right, now it's to ran in the morning zoo.
Starting point is 00:34:26 And I guarantee, and I am speaking out of school because I don't know this to be a fact, but based on what I know, I would guarantee historically that breakfast club are selling for pennies on the dollar compared to Z-100. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:39 Because they value the pop white audience who's there for Elvis. And if you're not from New York, Elvis is the pop morning show. But he's all over the country, though. And he's all over the country. But this is his biggest, I mean, I think he's still most known and most successful here. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And that has always been a more valued thing. And that was one of the ways that at Hot, we used to struggle to deal with I-Hard is they could get lots of people to come in because they go, hey, come to power.
Starting point is 00:35:03 Oh, you're going to Z-100. Jump on, we'll get you over power too. Hot never had that as an option. It was hot and BLS or Hot and Kiss, which of course, black. Black, but not the same value on the dollar is coming to Z100. Well, it's Z100.
Starting point is 00:35:17 Remember, I heard of Z100 KTU Light FM. Wow, wow, wow. Power 1 of 5. Yeah. Right? And I'm leaving something out, but there's something else in there too. But I know for a fact, right?
Starting point is 00:35:29 Like, because remember, I got hired in New York City because Hot 97 had just gotten competition and they had never had competition before. And so no, the, the strategy and people at the stations didn't really have a lot of programming strategy in their background. And that's one of the reason I even got hired to New York was programming. Because they had been cruising with no competition. Right.
Starting point is 00:35:51 Right. And so the creation of Power 105 was about pulling money away from Hot 97 and dominance away from hot 97 and helping that cluster. That was the whole strategy. What was on 105 one before it became power? I don't know. But I worked there when it launched and it was all old school. It launched his old school?
Starting point is 00:36:12 Mm-hmm. It was a throwback station. Really? Mm-hmm. I didn't remember that either. How throwback? Throwback. Throwback?
Starting point is 00:36:18 Throwback throwback? No, no, just hip-hop. Got it. Yeah, yeah. Throwback hip-hop. Yeah. What? Rhythmic classic soul.
Starting point is 00:36:26 Oh, that's what it was prior? Jammin. Jamma 105. So they went from, so they went from trying to be a competitor of like Kiss. Kiss. to being a competitor of... Yeah, and they probably figured
Starting point is 00:36:39 let's wiggle our way in between what BLS... With old school hip hop and then... And pull black women because, you know, Power 105 is considerably more R&B-based, right? To pull black women listeners away from how 97-1 strategy. And then they also, once again, to your point, on the buy, on the ad buy, they can walk into an advertiser and say,
Starting point is 00:37:00 hey, here is our portfolio, right? Oh, and do you like black people? We can give you some here, too. And you get credit for that buy. You don't have to spend as much. It's not a premium, but you get credit for it with the mandate. Right. And so thus, you don't have to worry about buying any other black because you just say, I bought it all.
Starting point is 00:37:17 The advertisers are like, yeah, no, no, we spent. And KTU was our Latin because of playing freestyle and all of that. So that's kind of like the advertising strategy. But once again, I bring all this up because it's all political when you're wondering why you don't see certain things on television. You don't see certain things or hear certain things on the radio. It all goes back to politics and being able to play that game. You're going to see certain foods in your supermarket. Everything, everything.
Starting point is 00:37:41 All of it. All of it. Let's get to the rundown. Laura got the rundown. Turn that up. Screen's on glow when she pulled up. Headlines heavy, but we still cut up. Life still flashing.
Starting point is 00:37:53 We don't slow up. All right. Now, this is a very sad and scary story. So Perez Hilton, police were called to his home after he was live streaming himself covered in blood, self-harming himself. I have not seen any of these videos, and I do not intend to. People say that they're very scary, and it's disturbing footage. They're saying that he's seen taking a knife to various parts of his body and cutting himself.
Starting point is 00:38:21 So, you know, Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office released a statement saying they spoke with family members. He was home alone at the time of the live stream, but police were able to technically disengage and, you know, and we're able to help him. Oh man, this is so sad. He has three children. Wow, Perez Hill and three kids. Yo, so what do we know about like his mental, has, has there mental health ever been a part of his public? So, so I used to follow him loosely just because I follow like a lot, you know, all these media personalities. But I know that he had gotten ill a couple months ago.
Starting point is 00:38:59 I do not know what was wrong with him. But he ended up in the hospital multiple times. I think he was in the hospital one time for like a month. He almost died. I think he was septic at one point. So I do remember him coming out on the other side, learning how to walk again. It was like, I found Jesus.
Starting point is 00:39:15 Oh, wow. Like, yo, I found a new calling. I almost died. Like, and I don't know if that traumatic experience, like, really, really triggered something and messed with his mental health. You know, the Perez. I do not know. Yo, I've never seen more like videos like blurred out.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Like people really don't want to show it. I, yes. The way there people are describing it, I was like, oh, I do not want to see that. I mean, oh, so scary. Don't look, Laura, this still, though? No. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:39:48 It looks like a horror movie, bro. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, he's got, Laura, he literally had blood, like, wiped all over the other. Horrible. And he was just on live stream like that. Yeah. So he's crying out for help.
Starting point is 00:39:57 Like, he's crying out for help. And then you go, okay, you got three kids. Do you have a lot? a partner. He's raising his children with his mother. With his mom. Yeah. So his mom's mom. His mom okay. Like, where's the support system here? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:14 This is all scary stuff, man. Yeah. And these kids are young. I think they're between the ages of like eight and 12. Oh. It's just beyond. It's horrible. Horrible. So people are saying he was posting crazy stuff. It looks like prior to it all getting that bad. Man.
Starting point is 00:40:32 That's sad. And we, And the, and the, all we know about the, and I got to tell the audience, the only reason I'm asking me questions too is because this is a person who's put so much in public for so long. So I'm assuming the public knows a lot, right? Because sometimes you're a situation like this
Starting point is 00:40:51 and you're just kind of like, well, you know, sending love and light to the family and y'all get well. Right. All we know is he was septic and almost died. Or is there more information that was public at that time about, what was going on with him mentally and physically.
Starting point is 00:41:07 I'm sure. I just didn't follow it at the time. But I just remember when that happened. I remember him trying to like learning how to walk again. And I was like, oh, my God, this is crazy. Yeah, he's definitely looked like there's like something going on for a while. Like you got very, very thin. Remember, he used to be like heavier, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:22 And I don't know. It's just sad. It's a sad situation. Not great. Real Canadian Superstore has everything you need this back to school season. Save on lunchbox savers like Ziggy's slice. deli me products for always 375 and get Life Brand Pure Vita shampoo
Starting point is 00:41:38 or conditioner for $8 each. At Real Canadian Superstore, when you're ready, we're ready with a whole world and more. In other news, so Joe Button is gearing up to release his brand new podcast in collaboration with Dick Wolf. Speaking of what's heavy and is now very thin. And it's all about true crime.
Starting point is 00:41:56 I'm excited. Joe Zempic. Oh yeah, that's right. He said he was taking something, right? I think it's out there. I mean, I didn't hear from him personally. So that's what I've heard. No, I remember seeing him talk about it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:08 Does he calling it Joe Zempic? He did not, I don't know if he called it Joe Zempic, but I like it and I don't think it's offensive. Zepound. Zepound. Not O Zempic. Who cares, Baskom? Wait, what did he say? Yo, Vaskam goes, it's Zepound, not O Zempik.
Starting point is 00:42:23 What's the difference? Nothing. Brand. Oh. They're just brands. It's Wagovi, not OZempic. I don't care. I mean, the point is they're all, it's clean X.
Starting point is 00:42:33 You get the idea. But Joe Zembek. It sounds better than what was the... Zetbound. Zetj... None of that works. It doesn't work. You gotta go Joe Zemba. Can you leave the broadcast to me for God's sick?
Starting point is 00:42:42 Oh my God. Well, definitely leave the comedy. Anyway, his new podcast is called Crime in America, and it's going to debut its first episode, August 11th. Crime in America. Now, I read, I read that Joe is very into, like yourself. I am no expert. I've just got into it recently.
Starting point is 00:43:01 Well, no, no, no. Like the, I mean, But you're a, you know, you watch crime shows. Yes, yes, yes. Whether they're scripted or unscripted. Yes. Right. And then it said that this show is honestly about crime going on right now.
Starting point is 00:43:14 Like it's a covering crime right now type of show. Got it. Not like some looking back 10 years, 20 years. It might do that also. But it said that they were going to have people on that they're actually following stories that are unfolding right now. Yeah. Are you going to do a crime story about this fly coming after you? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:33 Yeah. looking at it. Oh, you got, yo. Damn, that was good. Oh, dang! What? You were like, got it. It was Miyagi in this,
Starting point is 00:43:41 yo, that was Miyagi at Jace, bro. Yeah, very cool, though, man. Yeah. So it's like a doc series kind of podcast. Yeah. So I think it's dope. I think it's a dope move for Joe. And is he hosting it too?
Starting point is 00:43:55 Yeah. He's hosting. He's a host. So I think this is a step into, instead of just podding and chatting and talking shit, this is a step into like, Broadcasting. Yeah, but just, you know, more of a host and cover, you know, being scripted and...
Starting point is 00:44:09 And by the way, I'd like to see him in that role because he has the voice, I think he has the voice and the chops for it. That's right. So that's dope. So super cool. Jafar Jackson is going to appear alongside Will Smith in a new action thriller called Supermax, according to the Hollywood Reporter. It's about two FBI agents, which is Will Smith and Anna Sophia Robb as they investigate a murder inside a maximum security prison. So his role hasn't been released it But this is going to be his first
Starting point is 00:44:35 Not project after post Michael Yeah The Biopike I mean listen it had to happen right Jafar was the talk of the town From that movie Yeah and he did his damn thing So now see what his chops are really like
Starting point is 00:44:45 Yeah because when you're not just being amazed At how much he seems like Michael His uncle How dope? Yeah how dope is he beyond that We'll find out Right now are we concerned Because Will Smith's batting average is kind of
Starting point is 00:44:57 Slid off with the movies a little bit It happens to all the biggest ones It does. Once you're like the big action guy, your percentage just goes in the toilet. Isn't that crazy? Like why when you start doing huge budget, you know,
Starting point is 00:45:11 multi-hundred million dollar movies, is there such a high percentage that the movies suck? Isn't that odd? Wouldn't you think it be the opposite? The movies that people spend that much money on always have a good script. And yet, respectfully, The Rock,
Starting point is 00:45:24 Will Smith. Is it the script or is it like, you know, I don't know much about movies. So I know there's the script. There's the actual editing. Yeah, the director. There's so many layers that could make a movie bad, right?
Starting point is 00:45:40 Beyond the script. That's true. But I'm just saying why you would think that the more money you spend, the tighter you would be. And yet it's not like that. Seems like a lot of these big action movies just don't have it. Although right now, have either of you guys made the attempt to see Odyssey? No. No, no.
Starting point is 00:45:56 I haven't, I'm trying to carve out the time. What was that, bascom? Someone say something? I'm going on Saturday. You got to get 70 millimeter or not? Where? In Jersey? Yep.
Starting point is 00:46:07 Garden State property. Sold that everywhere? Yeah. I was looking up tickets all the way into like September in New York. Oh my God. Wasn't there. In Manhattan, you couldn't find tickets. Not to see the 70 millimeter.
Starting point is 00:46:19 Not to see the 70 millimeter. No. It's a three. Go to West Chesta. 70 millimeters. Why do you keep saying West Chesta? It's not a Boston suburb. Because you do remember that comedian, Yanis Papa's.
Starting point is 00:46:30 Yeah. And remember what was that character? Maruisa, Maruca. Yes. And that's how she would say it. Westchester. But why? But that's like a Boston sound.
Starting point is 00:46:40 That would be like, what's the mass? Anyways, in New York City, there's no, you can't see this. Now listen. Do you need to see the 70 millimeter? I saw centers on 70 millimeter at the, that was like the premiere I went to. Yeah. And it was phenomenal. It's a big ass scream, my gee, like that is.
Starting point is 00:47:00 So, like, maybe that's how you're supposed to see Odyssey? Well, no, no, no. Odyssey, that is literally exactly what it's made for. Yeah. Sinners, I think they did. I don't know if they shot it for that or if they just did it. No, they shot it for that. Like, that was a thing that he would, remember those, remember Coogler was like, I didn't, you know.
Starting point is 00:47:17 Yeah, I learned at the time. He was saying how, you know, mostly black, black films never get this kind of roll out. Like, it was a big thing. Got it got it. Yeah. Well, it's not. And these days not a lot, get them, period. Period.
Starting point is 00:47:29 Yeah. Yeah, yeah. So this is, yeah, that does sound familiar now. But again, of course, it wasn't made as big a deal because... Blat. Yeah. And Ryan Coogler's not Christopher Nolan. Right. The movie's not.
Starting point is 00:47:40 But anyways, this movie's supposed to be incredible. And then, you know, Spider-Man had a gigantic weekend, too. This is like, this has been a big movie summer. Well, this has been like a kind of, it feels like a comeback, a movie comeback summer. Shout to my guy, Eddie Francis, who I work with at Apple. He's kind of the closest guy to me that I know is a true, I mean a Marvel dork. Got it.
Starting point is 00:48:02 Like, Big MCU dork. All the comics. Like, he's in it. Video games, he's in it. This is life. He collects all the things. He said this Spider-Man nailed it.
Starting point is 00:48:13 Our guy, Crondon is in it. Oh, word. Shouts to Cron Don. He's been in the MCU before. And, and D.C. He's been in TV and film. He's like one of several rappers. Shout to Crondon.
Starting point is 00:48:26 Like, he, he's been doing acting things. Yeah, yeah. No, Crondon's been active for a minute now. I just can't remember the other stuff that he was in. That's dope. Do you know what number of MCU this is? I have no idea. Because I'm not in on the MCU.
Starting point is 00:48:38 It's 38. I was going to build it up longer, Griff. But yeah, at 38. So when Issa was about seven, I think this was during a pandemic, we went and watched, because you can do it on Disney. You can watch all of the Marvel movies in order. And did you like how the storyline actually goes? Right, right.
Starting point is 00:49:00 We had a great time. Wait, how many did you get? We watched them all. We watched all the way up to... Through the pandemic? Yeah. So you think you've watched like 25, 30 of them? Easily.
Starting point is 00:49:11 Wow. Wow. But no, this was a few years... You're not fully believing, are you? No, no, no. It literally gives it to you. You just click it, click it. Like, it was the pandemic.
Starting point is 00:49:21 So it was like... Oh, yeah. You had nothing to do so. We had nothing to do. What does that include besides... That's all the Iron Man's. That's all the Avengers. That's, um, all the,
Starting point is 00:49:30 Captain America's, that was the Antmen and wasps. That was, no, say again, Guardians of the Galaxy, which I love. Trying to think what else was in there. Thor's, all the Thors. You've seen all of them. Yeah, I've watched them all. So I think the closest thing I have to an MCU nerd is sitting right next to me.
Starting point is 00:49:52 It sounds like you're all the way caught up, bro. On the movies, but like, that's the thing is the movies. Yeah, yeah, but I don't, I couldn't, you know, I don't remember, like, Like storylines. I was told that to see this Spider-Man, you really should have seen the last couple of Spider-Men's. And so I, thus, will not be seeing the Spider-Man. And I'm past being able to catch up.
Starting point is 00:50:14 It feels like 38 is too overweight. No, no, no, but just a couple of Spider-Man. The Tom Holland, what's her name? Zendaya, Spider-Man thing is like three. It's like three of them, right? Four of them. Yeah. Four.
Starting point is 00:50:28 Oh, my number keeps getting bigger and bigger. Laura, that's the thing, the time goes so fast as an adult that I remember being at one point, like, oh, I'm going to catch up. And then a couple years ago by, I'm like, wait, how many have they done now? And now you're up to 38? It's like, I'll, I'm out. 25 series, too. 25 series. I haven't watched a lot.
Starting point is 00:50:45 What do you mean series? Different movie series? No, no, like TV. Yeah, they do TV series about. But you don't need to have seen those, great? No, no, they get off in it. And I've seen a couple of those. All right.
Starting point is 00:50:58 This is, yo, man. I'm not saying they're not great. Like, you know, it's Disney. God bless. People love it, though. They love it. But it's just like, it's just, we're in a weird time in terms of, like, the, what's popular art. Like, that's the only thing that gets made, it makes money.
Starting point is 00:51:13 What the, or the MCU? That's like it feels like they're the only truly big movie releases. That's why the Odyssey is a big deal. There's finally a movie that's not an MCU movie that's actually doing big numbers. Because basically just all these movies. For the Marvel thing, they have a follow. You know, whether you were. because let's say you were a comic book nerd
Starting point is 00:51:32 back in the I don't know 70s and 80s and you have children I remember when the movies first started coming out we was going to see this and I wasn't even a comic book kid like that I just used to watch Spider-Man cartoon
Starting point is 00:51:45 but I was like yo they're doing like full on I was in there but it was so sporadic when we were young gigantic comic book movies were very sporadic well no I'm saying when they started this version of like since 20 what is it 2008 or oh no no no it's like Ironman is the first one
Starting point is 00:52:05 and that's what oh two oh three oh oh nine oh is that late oh nine are you sure yes it's not that oh wait oh wait yeah where they were the CGI was kind of at the level it's at now and the you know what I mean like that's all kind of recent Iron Man was the last was like Iron Man and Black Panther were the Only ones I feel like that I ran out to the theater and saw maybe Iron Man 2 and that was basically it We saw one together that was Avengers wasn't it? Yes You guys saw end game game that was fire I didn't go Wait you and Rosembourg didn't go no oh it was fire
Starting point is 00:52:49 Yeah you guys left during the show remember I stayed back and finish the show Is that the one Juanito ruined the ending for no that was infinity war got he's ruined so many things. It's hard to keep track if we're being honest. Yo, you guys ready to get to the guru? Yes, let's do it. Let's do a guru time. Hey, yo, it's top of the gurus. Rosenberg. All right. You know you are a beautiful queen.
Starting point is 00:53:14 Ebro, don't ever play yourself. You're not a guru. The original gurus at gmail.com. The original gurus at gmail.com. Where the gurus unite. Shine the light. Ebro, burn the sage. Rosenberg Who's out there?
Starting point is 00:53:36 Who's writing to us? Who needs our help? The original gurus at gmail.com. The original gurus at gmail.com. Your destination for clarity. I'm a 40-year-old single mom with a son who has almost 10 and has special needs.
Starting point is 00:53:59 I am finally finalizing my divorce from an abusive narcissistic. Damn it. A process that has taken seven years. Six of those years have been with an incredible, patient, loving, caring, understanding man. He's a hard worker. He loves me.
Starting point is 00:54:12 And my son as his own gives me balance in my crazy roller coaster life, handsome, great in bed, all the things. He was also divorced for two years when we met. No kids. Everything seemed perfect. Fast forward six years and he's fallen off on all those qualities. I don't feel secure. I can't rely on them for basic things.
Starting point is 00:54:31 feels like I have another child. He needs a mother to tell him everything to do. He's not motivated, not determined to take this relationship to the next level. However, a major problem is money. I make more than him, but because of my divorce is dried out, my ex owes me over $100,000. I can barely afford groceries. This is why I can't afford Patreon.
Starting point is 00:54:52 Oh, we feel you, Doug. I know it's not his problem, but he can't support me financially. He's not bringing our relationship the next step, like saving money for a ring or buying a house. my biggest life dream. I've never been in this position of my life and it sucks. Not only that, he's not motivated to get a better job.
Starting point is 00:55:09 He's been doing the same thing for over 20 years and he's scared of change. He's gained weight. He's always tired because he works two jobs so he doesn't make time for the gym. He uses the excuse that he takes the time to come see me. We live an hour away from each other. Okay.
Starting point is 00:55:26 He has stuck by me through a lot and made major sacrifices to be together and I do recognize that and appreciate it. I love him, but love isn't going to pay, the bills or give me the life we deserve to have. So he's 45 and I'm 40. Do I let it crash and burn and start all over again?
Starting point is 00:55:43 Something I'm dreading or do I keep painting this picture that I know deep inside will never happen unless by some miracle he wins the lottery and gets us out of here. We aren't in our 20s. I'm not looking to struggle with a man for another five years to have the life I know I deserve. I'd rather be alone. I'm skipping. There's more and more and more, but I'm going to skip past there.
Starting point is 00:56:04 Ma'am, you deserve to be alone. You deserve to be alone. That's right. What does that mean? Because you're not, if you want to do something long term with this, man, there's going to be ups and downs. You said this started great. Everything was great. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:18 Then bro is working two jobs, put on weight, and sexy time and time with you and money becomes the issue. This is, by the way, and I'm not trying to be shady. I'm just being honest. Like, this is what life with someone could be like. whether he had a bunch of money when you met him or y'all get a bunch of money later on things can always go south and you're not willing to tough it out so not that you're in the wrong but you could go think the grass is greener somewhere and end up in the same predicament yeah and if you think if you would rather be alone then continue this life with him then be alone Well, did you hear where she said everything was great, and in the last four years he's become what a narcissist? No, not even a narcissist.
Starting point is 00:57:12 No. I think he's just gained away. No, that's what she said. And that he, the ex, yeah, the ex. The ex is narcissist, not him. He just doesn't want change, doesn't want more for himself, like is working the same job. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:57:25 He's, I guess, not interested in making more money. He has two jobs. They live an hour away. So she feels like there's no growth. And she wants growth. Do you think you'll find growth if you're alone? If you leave him? You know, you have to ask yourself that question.
Starting point is 00:57:43 And there's a chance that you might end up alone. Go shopping, Ma. See what's out there. See what you can find. Yeah, go. It is tough. That is tough because the way she's describing him, I can't tell if it's really bad or if, like,
Starting point is 00:58:01 he's going through a tough time. Yeah, and he's worn out. and tired, and she's like, I have to tell him to do everything. For the record, I would say 70% of women feel like that about their partners. They don't do it. I got to tell them, you wash the dishes. I got to tell them to go do this. I got to tell.
Starting point is 00:58:18 That's like a very, so that could be like, if you, if you listen to what she's complaining about taking a face value, it's like, man, this guy like lost his mind. He's a loser. But sometimes that is just. Well, no, but the thing that stood out to me, the thing that stood out to me is that they live an hour. They don't live together. No.
Starting point is 00:58:33 Yeah. They live an hour away from each other. So I would ask, is he doing most of the driving and visiting? Are you guys sharing that? Because you also said he works two jobs. So he's working two jobs. Right. Sometimes driving.
Starting point is 00:58:45 I'm saying sometimes because I don't know. I'm assuming y'all share. And sometimes he goes to say he says the reason I don't work out is I spend my time coming to see you. So it sounds like he's the one coming to see you. And it also sounds like they don't even live together. Exactly. So what do you mean he can't do anything for himself? He's living by himself.
Starting point is 00:59:03 It doesn't even sound. like you're taking care of this man. Which is why I started with, you should be by yourself. And he's working two jobs. And driving an hour to come see her. And she's the one bitching. So, I mean, her whole thing is like she doesn't want to be with somebody who doesn't want to grow. And she feels like he's kind of...
Starting point is 00:59:20 He can't grow. He's in the fucking car coming to see you. And he's working his ass off. And paying for gas and shit. You know, I don't know if you've seen these gas prices out here. And, and I mean, she said it. She said it's not his problem, but she's still. like complaining about it.
Starting point is 00:59:35 He's not the reason you're $100,000 in the hole to your ex. That's your own bullish. Yeah, that's your life and your issues and you have to deal with it. Yo, my man, you should leave her, bro. Yo, yo, tell your guy to write us so we can give him some advice. You're not appreciated. Yes, King. You have to make a decision.
Starting point is 00:59:55 But if you're truly not happy, you know, leave that man alone because it doesn't sound like he's lazy. I mean, you can have a pep talk and try different things. Or you could say, Hey, hey, come see me less. I need you to work out. So if you were seeing me three times a week, let's make it two times a week.
Starting point is 01:00:11 Let's start working out once a week. Let's start. Help him do the things. If you really love him. If it's important to you. Because you're saying he is supportive. He loves your son like his own. He's been there from the jump.
Starting point is 01:00:23 Like the worst thing you gave us is he hasn't saved up for a ring or, but y'all are in your 40s. You already have kids. Like, I'm not saying you should never get married or dream of a house or all of those things. Like you said, ma'am, y'all aren't in your 20s. Well, and you're living life together. And that marriage thing, she was like, you know, to give me the day of my dreams. You didn't get the day of your dreams from the motherfucker you had a kid with.
Starting point is 01:00:45 Now it's this motherfucker's fault. Think about like, or are you on the second day of your dreams? And they look, and they don't even live together. Maybe if they live together. Yeah, can y'all, can y'all move to a halfway point between each other and live together? And split bills and find a way. responsibilities, maybe that's some extra income right there. He don't even know if he want to live with you.
Starting point is 01:01:07 That's why he ain't got a ring or even has even asked you that. So say, he hasn't even presented to you. He hasn't even asked. Now he's speculating. Now he hasn't. Objection. Speculation, your honor. If he hasn't said, hey, babe, you know we should move in together so I don't have to drive an hour.
Starting point is 01:01:26 That means he don't want to live with your act. Hey, I have. Don't know. I have a new validate me dropping tomorrow. If you haven't subscribed, go subscribe. It's a good one. I have not been plugging it at all. I realize on the show where I actually have listeners.
Starting point is 01:01:38 So I probably need to tell them every once in a while. Go subscribe to validate me. Steal from Smith & Wessons on tomorrow. Rory, the great Rory from Rory and Moll was on last week. We talked about his stroke, which scared me half to death just to relive the story. You saw him that night too, right? Yeah, at the thing, he looked. Yeah, I remember seeing him and speaking to him,
Starting point is 01:01:58 and he was just kind of like, and I thought he was just running off to get more. JZ merch. Yeah, some JZ t-shirts. He was like, yo, hey, hey, good seeing you. And then scamper out. Yeah, that was so funny, though, when him and Moll were talking. And he was like, I got to go to the concert,
Starting point is 01:02:10 Yankee Stadium, see if I stroke out again. Oh, my God. No. Good time. By the way, speaking of which, I saw that Rory and Moll went to the J. Cole show. Yeah. Did you, you didn't go to either of the Coles shows?
Starting point is 01:02:22 I didn't go last night. I was going to go last night, but then I had a meeting. Was last night, Barclays or MSG? Last night was MSG. It was last night of MSG. And I wanted to take Issa. Like that was going to be her first like rap show Yeah I couldn't pull it all together guys
Starting point is 01:02:36 Work work work stuff All right I didn't go I didn't get reminded by it I'll get a Dreamville sweatshirt every couple of years You're not you're not you're not I'm not a dreamville loyalist enough I never get the like hey heads up you want to go to the show we're having a show I'm complaining I'm complaining I'm complaining who are you complaining too
Starting point is 01:02:55 Just the world about the J Cole world You know my last J Cole interview was like 2007 We haven't been loyal enough to the J. Cole world? Apparently not. I feel like we have been. You haven't? I haven't? No. Even Dreamfield?
Starting point is 01:03:08 What about all the other? What about Baza and J.I.D.? Not good enough. We supported every artist they put out. Not good enough. God damn it. It looks like a good show, though. It was damn good show.
Starting point is 01:03:15 I was mad that I missed it because I saw it happen. I was like, oh, damn, MSGF. Yeah. And I love that new album, too. Yeah. It's great. I really wanted to go. I even said there were no skips on the whole thing.
Starting point is 01:03:24 But is that why you said it so you can get free access to the show? No, I meant it at the time. have a couple skips. Oh, so now you change your tune. They didn't invite you to it. But it was a great album. We'll see y'all tomorrow, man. You brought all Rosenberg.
Starting point is 01:03:39 Yes. Oh, Patreon dropping today, right? Oh, yeah. Patreon dropping today and boxing fans. We're going to have the great Edgar Berlanga's going to stop by the show tomorrow as well. There is. Don't call in a podcast.
