Starting point is 00:00:43 What we missed Honestly what we didn't have time to get to We over yapped Yo we over yapped on What was that Wednesday Went ham It was like a whole Netanyahu Israel
Starting point is 00:00:54 On Wednesday Remember we went off the deep end That was like the most political Of the week probably Yesterday was I mean Tuesday was a lot too It was? It's been a lot
Starting point is 00:01:04 Yeah, we do a lot, bro. There's been a lot. But in our defense, there hasn't been a lot of, like, great entertainment stuff. But fortunately, today's shit we missed. But I wanted to start with something, a positive thought. Okay, I like this. Because we just were having a fun conversation in the room about a topic among all of us. And it's Family Friday.
Starting point is 00:01:21 It is. Should I play the Family Matters intro or no, we're out of that? No, we do that anymore. Well, we do that on Patreon. Oh, so join us on Patreon after this 20 minutes. It's on the Family Matter. Yeah. But no, I was going to say, it's nice that Mendez is back with us.
Starting point is 00:01:32 Okay. Because last week we were talking about how, like, hey, you know, I was saying I haven't talked to Shawnee that much and Juanito we haven't talked like And so there are some sad things I see Juanito every day by the way Yeah and by the way that's probably a bit much for me But no no but so
Starting point is 00:01:45 He's still quiet Juanito so he's not Right right right well especially at like that A jobby job yeah he's not as annoying as he would be at No he's not trying to play himself But I The point of the nice thing I was going to try to get to is Is that while we talked about how it's a bummer That we don't see certain people
Starting point is 00:02:00 It is cool that Mendez is back in our life Yeah And part of the show. Yeah, for Mendes. I love it. I thought that was, you know. You like Mendes. I love Mendes.
Starting point is 00:02:08 She's good. I'm in men. Well, I assume if you hated her, she wouldn't be sitting in the room with us. I don't know. She's good at what she does. That's, you mean, so even if you did. There's a lot of people I don't really like that much, but they're good. But you're saying, but that's not her.
Starting point is 00:02:23 You're saying you also like her. Yes. But even if you didn't, you think she brings something in the table. Absolutely. Got it. Absolutely. I'm only, listen, this is, we're showing up to, put together a program.
Starting point is 00:02:34 Right. So who's good at doing the job? Who's going to help us put together the program and make sure that the program is doing what it's supposed to be doing? So what do we miss this week, folks? Well, I want to go to, uh, I didn't know that there was an S&L in the UK. I didn't either. So if none of us did.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Is this real? Let's watch this. Let's watch it. Wait, wait, wait. What did you say? This is the second season. Oh, so it's new. So this is new.
Starting point is 00:02:58 Griff says SNLUK is a new phenomenon. Let's go to clip eight. This week, the. Israel-Palestine conflict just got serious. That's right, Ed Shearin's U.S. tour is under threat. Shearren's support act, McElmore, was dropped after saying, Free Palestine on stage. Will Sheeran have to cancel the tour?
Starting point is 00:03:20 There's a very real risk that he won't. Genuinely, though, this crisis is the worst thing that has happened to Ed Sheeran fans since their head injury. Damn. That is tough. Good guy with bad music, Macklemore, was dropped at the insistence of pro-Israel billionaire Robert Kraft. 85-year-old Kraft, seen here picking a coffin, has released his own statement on the Israel-Palestine conflict,
Starting point is 00:03:55 saying, quote, our goal is to work together to build bridges. Oh, Robert, it's going to break your heart when you find out who's bombing those. Wealthy corpse-maxer Robert Kraft has a checkered pass. After being charged with soliciting prostitution in 2019, he appointed one of Jeffrey Epstein's lawyers to his legal team.
Starting point is 00:04:20 But, not wanting to be associated with the evil dead guy, Epstein had himself killed. To his credit, Sheeran, seen here, looking at both sides of the issue. Yo, come on, man. Has been a long-standing supporter of Ukraine. Say what you want about, Ed, but he's always been a passionate advocate
Starting point is 00:04:48 of causes that are allowed. Yo, they could. So, this is a thing now, this SNLUK, buckle up. Yeah, because they don't hold punches over there. They do not fuck. They don't care. They don't, even on, like, the BBC,
Starting point is 00:05:04 they don't care. That was good. Now I'm in. for SNL UK. Me too. S&L you can. And S&L's back this week in the U.S. with Jalen Brunson.
Starting point is 00:05:13 Okay. As the host. Oh, really? Who's musical guest? Cats' eye. Cats eye. Got it. Cats eye.
Starting point is 00:05:19 Cute. So, yeah, but I'm excited to see Jailen Brunson, you know, because the summer's over, the Nick Summer is officially over. Basketball's almost back. Yeah, you got football. How's your football? See, this was things we missed. How's my football?
Starting point is 00:05:30 Yeah. You really don't know? Nope. You honestly don't know anything. I don't know. I don't know that. I think the Jets are one in one. The Raiders are 2 and 0.
Starting point is 00:05:43 Jackson Dart got hit in a sandwich. He's out for the season for the giant. And you don't know about Jaden Daniels? What happened to Jaden Daniels? Yo, my man, we knew you were out on football. You didn't know he had the exact same thing happen and his arm bent backwards again. Ew.
Starting point is 00:05:57 Really? Out. You didn't know that my life exploded in front of my very eyes and I've been powering through to come to work for the team knowing my life is in shambles, pretending I care about these other world issues when really the only thing that matters is that my quarterback may not play again this season?
Starting point is 00:06:11 RG4? Cowboys won, don't. Shut the fuck up, you. I'll tell you one thing I'm concerned about. Oh, yo, fuck the Cowboys. Well, no, and so it was against the Cowboys. And basically, Cowboys started out great. They were up 17-3. Commander's cut at 1710 because Jane was playing,
Starting point is 00:06:27 I'm sure you'd agree, like 20-24, Jaden. Unstoppable. It was great. He was just absolutely unstoppable again. And this version of Jay not taking hits, throwing the ball away when he needs to him, sliding over and over it.
Starting point is 00:06:41 But he was unstoppable. So we went from like, oh, God, we're going to get blown out. Oh, so they plotted on him and hurt my guy's arm. No, no, no, no. 1710, we get the ball again. We basically take the ball the entire second quarter, and we have a chance now to come down and tie the game before halftime.
Starting point is 00:06:56 They run a series of, they get down to the two-yard line. I want your unbiased opinion here. Okay, they're on the two-yard line. Commanders are about to. score. There's like, there's like 12 seconds left. And they run a couple of plays. Okay. Like running plays. No. They're trying to throw because they're out of timeouts. Okay. So they're trying to get the ball in the end zone. All right. In the end, they throw, Jaden kind of throws the ball away. I don't even know what down it was. Second down, who knows.
Starting point is 00:07:21 But after the play, it's now two seconds left on the clock. Was it two or three? Three. Three seconds left in the game. No timeouts. In the half. In the half. So it's 1710. They have dollars. nominated the quarter and they are down to three seconds left. What are you doing? kicking a field goal. Absolutely. Not. Dan Quinn lines Jaden Daniels up under center.
Starting point is 00:07:47 The guard steps on his foot. He falls down, braces himself with his left hand, twist the shit the same way he did last year. Yo. You plagued yourself. Why are we? And people think I'm a bad guy because I'm like I've had enough with Quinn. Yes, of course it's not your fault.
Starting point is 00:08:04 He got hurt. say, but why are you doing that? Take the fucking three points. We were getting the ball in the second half. Like, it would have been 1713. You went from down 173 to 1713 getting the ball, dominating the quarter. Listen, what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:08:19 If I want to, so yes, I'm kicking a field goal. Me. I'm not a head coach. What? Griffith. Field goal? I'm getting my points. You get the ball back. You're getting the ball back. You're getting the ball back.
Starting point is 00:08:29 You're getting my points. I'm getting the ball back. And we're getting out of here. And it's, by the way, we're down by three. Even if we missed the field goal, we're down by three and a half. So what? No, you missed the field goal. You would have been down by seven. Or would you say it was?
Starting point is 00:08:41 17. 10. Oh, sorry. But why do we need the touchdown to tie at this moment? The drive stalled? You don't. You don't. But he's also probably thinking, if we want to be honest, he's probably thinking,
Starting point is 00:08:50 let's get this month. Like, let's get a big score here, keep the, and get the momentum because they dominate. You said, Cowboys play great. Then we played great. And he's thinking, you know what? Let's go for the jugular. Let's make them bleed. That's what he's thinking.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Being aggressive. Stupid. And you're into. up with the relations you play so so yeah now and and basically the same arm another surgery
Starting point is 00:09:12 no no he didn't have surgery last year and the question that it's going to come down to it this moment is so first of all I can't believe you didn't see any of this bro I know you don't watch a lot of football Tom Brady said oh shit on TV you didn't hear about anything nope so his elbow makes the nasty turn like it did last year and Tom Brady goes
Starting point is 00:09:30 oh shit it looks like it's sticking the wrong way and Brady goes Radius paid $30 million a year to be a broadcaster, by the way. He just started so be easy on it. It's like three years in now. He's pretty good, by the way. But he's like, oh, shit. I'm like, calm down, bro.
Starting point is 00:09:43 I thought he was dead when he said that. Go ahead, Louis. Well, I was going to say, to put in perspective, when we saw him down because you didn't get the close-up shot. So because of the lineman that stepped on, I think everybody's eyes were on his ankle. Right. So we all thought, like, oh, he's messed up his ankle because the lineman stepped on him. Right.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Then when you get the close up on it, that's what made him say, oh, shit. because he was like, then you see the brace and then you see his elbow. Well, yeah, but also if you're Tom Brady who has been, you know, hit by multiple 18 wheelers in his life, I can tell you as somebody who's been injured a lot, when you see other people get injured,
Starting point is 00:10:18 you're like, it catches you. And I know he has a friendship with Jaden. They're all hanging out of Fanatics Fest. Like, you know, he knows him and likes the kid a lot, I'm sure. But I was like, oh my God, what happened? I was worried it was his knee. I'm sitting there like it's all over.
Starting point is 00:10:31 the elbow injury while gross was it nearly as gross as the one a year ago but it's still two injuries on the same arm so 10 minutes later you see him again it's back in place they put it back it's back in place now the conversation there's no fracture they're testing right now
Starting point is 00:10:50 the conversation will end up being does he rest for a few weeks and come back with a brace or do they say F that we lose this season and we just do the surgery And it's his throwing arm No no
Starting point is 00:11:05 It's not his throwing arm That's what makes it complicated But do you want to keep dealing with this Because if you do the search If you try to make it the whole season And you do the surgery in January He will be out All the way until
Starting point is 00:11:21 Maybe he gets back By the time the season starts the next year Or you do the surgery now And it'll be this year's done And it's over. But it's hard because they're not winning shit this year anyway. So they might as well get a surgery. I don't think we're winning shit this year.
Starting point is 00:11:37 Yeah, but could you win eight games without him? Can. Can you be competitive? You don't sell competitive. You know what I'm saying? Can you? Well, the harder thing is they'll also, we should move on. I know it's probably boring for people who don't care about sports. But like it's also tough because this is year three.
Starting point is 00:11:52 So they'll have to make a decision on his future contract. And that's two years in a row where we'll basically miss the whole year. I think we've seen enough to know we want. him to be our guy. And I think this elbow, if this was another thing, if this was knee or throwing arm, I'd be a little more freaked out about it. It being your offhand elbow to me is something you can do surgery now and you make a figure out the contract thing. That's my vote. But listen, I'm a new commanders fan. Well, yeah, and I would call you a light fan if you didn't know this happened. Well, I'm a casual. What's more than, what's like, what's 10 times casual?
Starting point is 00:12:23 Like dead body. You're like a corpse of a football fan. Like you're just there and it happens. Yeah, it's just out there. The Raiders R2 and O, though. Raiders R2 and O. Listen, I didn't even know that John Harbaugh was the Giants coach until a month ago. You know what?
Starting point is 00:12:41 We're done. I was like, yo, that's a good pickup. By the way, no, we're done with Laura. We're done with sports. Laura, you can surpass him in sports on this show. If you want to become the second sports person, I understand. Football is brutal.
Starting point is 00:12:54 Listen, I know that I know judges out going into the wild card. I've been paying them. I do, I have become the kind of like, you're not getting me emotionally tied up in sports too soon. Football is an exception because every week counts. So I kind of pay attention, but I'm not really a fan of any team. I don't have a team. Kind of feels like the right thing. Yeah, well, I get it.
Starting point is 00:13:15 Football sucks in a lot of ways, too. Like, I don't really have. Laura's give us a thing. All right, let's go. I want to touch on video 11. 11. We miss this one. Flights?
Starting point is 00:13:26 Oh, you mean when they stopped all the flights at the airport? the other day? Oh, yeah. But we've had a fix on this, right? Oh, yeah. Everything's back moving. Yeah, we're back, though. We're back.
Starting point is 00:13:34 Yeah, but the fact, hold on. No, if you had a flight that day, though. 7,000 delayed and canceled flights. Yeah. $1,400 at all the NYC airports. Half of Newark's flights were canceled and over 100 flights were diverted. Because Amtrak cut the backup line. And most people don't know that.
Starting point is 00:13:53 Amtrak cut the Verizon fiber optic line by accident somewhere between Newark, New Jersey, and Philly. I think was the location of the fiber optic line, right, Lou? Yeah. Whoops. And Verizon on social media was like, yo, this ain't us.
Starting point is 00:14:11 Amtrak cut our line. Yo, that's the biggest hit the button, bro. Hit the button. Congratulations, you plagued yourself. What a disaster. But the bigger congratulations you played yourself, I honestly believe in 2026, that someone could cut a line.
Starting point is 00:14:28 I know. How does that even happen? How do you have all of this transportation, people in the sky, people taking off all of this stuff that we pay for and pay all these prices for? And we still live in a world where a line could still get cut. And by the way, the backup line. There's only one backup? I know. I don't understand.
Starting point is 00:14:48 I don't. How could this happen? Like, that's lives on the line. Yes. What if that happens? Like during mid-flight, nothing happened, though? I guess they're obviously planes in the air. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:58 Yeah, yeah, yeah. And everyone's able to figure it out and get, yo, bro, it's a miracle, especially with our current federal government that, like, that doesn't just lead to like a, it's like Sim City and people are just crashing into each other. Well, if you're really looking at it, right, when we talk about what else is going on in the world,
Starting point is 00:15:14 you talk about, you know, China or in Japan or, you know, other countries making, you know, advancements. Yeah. And in society and infrastructure. We're so behind, bro. That's a real. It's becoming a real thing.
Starting point is 00:15:29 No, no, no. We are, we're still living in like 1970, bro. Mm-hmm. Maybe even 1960, like right after like baby boomer time when a lot of this infrastructure just went in. Yeah. Like there are things that we drive on, trains, all that. They're 70, 100 years old sometimes.
Starting point is 00:15:48 Subway stations here in the city, they'll be like, yeah, this line's 100 years old. It needs to be fixed. You don't say. And we talked about, you know, how much that's affecting us with the rain. Yeah. with the sewage system and everything we have.
Starting point is 00:16:00 We're not built for a lot. And I worry that for like every storm, like they're saying there's a Norrister this weekend. It's going to hit us, yeah. I'm like, all these storms worry me that one day it'll be like more than just like kind of bad. No, we'll get another. It'll be, we're almost due for another Sandy, bro.
Starting point is 00:16:16 Don't say that. No, we're due for a big hurricane coming up the eastern seaboard. And remember how we will watch them, right? Is it going to turn left and go ahead? hammer into the coast or is they're going to turn right and go back out to sea? You guys, remember that watching it? What's it going to do? You guys, you know, Mother Nature is going to Mother Nature. Well, look what's happening in the Pacific with Polo, with Hurricane Polo. One of the
Starting point is 00:16:41 strongest storms ever, I think, is the second strongest storm in the Pacific history, Pacific Ocean. Well, because we're in a super El Nino season. You guys know Los Angeles has never had mosquitoes before? They have mosquitoes now. That's not true. I've got been. up by mosquitoes in Los Angeles. Yo, people were like, yo, I have never gotten bitten by mosquito. It's like a news story where they're like, yo. More than usual, but there's been mosquitoes. Maybe.
Starting point is 00:17:08 They were like, yo, it's humid. There's mosquitoes. The humidity is a thing, though, because, you know, it's dry as hell. Well, there's a desert. And it has definitely been way more humid than I've ever experienced. Let's close out with this last clip right here. I think it's my new favorite song. It's clip number seven.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Okay. he fucked up the reflect that's not nice you mean the the cartoon yeah I think the whole thing probably even this I wouldn't even doubt that song is probably made by AI
Starting point is 00:18:39 I wonder I wonder because that's really that was really thoughtful I bet that's real people who wrote the song maybe they wrote it and had someone else you know had AI singing
