Starting point is 00:00:00 Just don't call in a podcast. The Ebro-Lara Rosenberg show. All right, Friday vibes. What's the, it's a Patreon day. It is. So we got a fun Patreony episode today. If you're not a Patreon, I suggest you head over there right now, ELR show on Patreon and join us.
Starting point is 00:00:36 All right? Absolutely. It's a lot of fun. I really enjoy it. Patreon episodes, by the way. I've been, they've been taking shape. Yeah, we Kiki in a different way. People love all the behind the scenes.
Starting point is 00:00:48 We Kiki you're saying. Yes, it's fun. Now, we did. I highly recommend you become a Patreoni. Oh, and I will say, if you care about Bascom's health journey, you're going to want an update of what's going on. Yes, yes. He was very
Starting point is 00:01:03 honest with us. Too bad Ebro doesn't listen to the Patreon shows because he, he's going to be interesting. All right. What are some of the things we missed this week? Oh, our, our mayor. Ah, the great mayor. Mayor Mamdani. Yeah, he announced something very big. Let's see. Over the last year, I've met with Jewish New Yorkers across the five boroughs. I've met with them in their dining rooms, sat with them on the subway, and spoke to them in their
Starting point is 00:01:29 shules. Time and again, I've heard the same thing. Antisemitism is real, and it is growing. Here in New York City, while our Jewish neighbors make up only 12% of the population. This stats crazy. The PD statistics show that anti-Semitic hate crimes account for more than half of all confirmed hate crimes. And that doesn't even have to do with my social media. It's something we all have an obligation. Way more crimes in them.
Starting point is 00:01:51 And City Hall will lead the way. That is why today I'm proud to announce the nation's first ever municipal strategy to combat anti-Semitism. A roadmap for how our administration will confront the scourge of anti-Semitism now and in the future. We are increasing hate crime prevention funding by $26 million. And it goes on and on. There's funding for a Holocaust memorial. There's funding for a Jewish center.
Starting point is 00:02:18 Another one? It's no, no. They're giving money to, you know, do whatever for this. It's all lots of really good stuff. Okay, okay. I've been to the Holocaust Museum and Battery Park. It's a phenomenal museum. So, no, it's not that.
Starting point is 00:02:32 I think it's one in Brooklyn. Okay, and it's huge and it's beautiful. And he just goes on. I know it's a lot of dark stuff in there, but, you know, it's well done. He goes on to basically say like, you know, Jews are such an important part in New York City. It is the biggest hub of Jews on planet Earth. And he takes all this stuff very seriously. Obviously that stat, 12% of the population, 50% of the hate crimes is jaw dropping.
Starting point is 00:02:57 I can point a lot of that at Bibi Netanyahu, but whatever. It doesn't matter where it comes from. It's here, right? Yeah. I just wonder now, what are the people who put up the anti-Semitic propaganda about Mondani going to say today? between him playing with the Orthodox kids on Russia Shana. He put out a beautiful Sukkot message. Yo, you guys think he's this good an actor?
Starting point is 00:03:19 He just hates Jews. Every minute he gets home, he's like, I'm going to find a way to exterminate these Jews. I'm going to start with a $26 million plan for anti-Semitism protection. I'm going to lull them to sleep. So you have these assholes like Mike Rappaport and Sid Rosenberg and these yo-yos, these Islamophobic lunatism,
Starting point is 00:03:39 what are you going to say this guy is literally doing more actively than anyone else we can recall Eric Adams de Blasio etc and the money also because this is the part that I felt it stood out it's it's a lot for more security at synagogues yes that is a huge thing and being and being preventative as he put it before these attacks would happen again yeah I think to me listen the more money towards memorial all of that is super important yes but we need the security and I think that is a huge component to this. Yeah, because the fact of the matter is, if someone were going to try to harm Jewish people in New York and make a statement, yeah, a big, there are these famous New York synagogues and have like 15,000 people praying on a weekend, whatever the number is.
Starting point is 00:04:26 Protecting those people is really important. Yeah. He's just doing a wonderful job. I'm sorry. I had no notes right now. I saw some of the negative comments, oh, wolf and sheep's clothing. Don't believe it. This all propaganda to put you to sleep. I already saw, didn't, you saw the same, you saw what I saw. And I was going to bring that up. I'm like, you think it kind of,
Starting point is 00:04:45 I don't want to say he hurts him because I, but I think it's a great thing. But I think, do you think he will get more backlash off of this? So people are saying, oh, well, you see the Jewish people are paying him off to do certain things.
Starting point is 00:04:57 You know how that narrative starts and things like that. And I do wonder, like, will that hurt him in that narrative? You damned if you do. You damned if you don't. Yeah, you're an asshole. Yes, I didn't see what like literally
Starting point is 00:05:09 I didn't look up like Rappaport. I don't know if he said something. I didn't see anything. He's been on his neck. But if you want to be an asshole and you've made up that he hates Jews because he is not into Israel as most people aren't at this point,
Starting point is 00:05:21 then you'll never be satisfied. But I am telling you right now as a Jewish New Yorker who is very annoyed by how long it took for him to do our show. I think he's doing a fantastic job and there's not even an ounce of anti-Semitism. That guy's blood. Nothing.
Starting point is 00:05:33 But these people are idiots. They also think he's Middle Eastern. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They don't even know. They literally are like, I know these Arabs. He's not Arab. He's African.
Starting point is 00:05:42 It's so crazy. You don't. Anyways. Anyway. By the way, do you see him at all on Kimmel? I saw a clip. Did you see the clip of Kimmel making fun of Trump to him? No.
Starting point is 00:05:51 No. So Kimmel does this whole thing and shows the thing that we showed of him blinking as Trump saying crazy thing. Yo, I tried to tell you guys a couple of weeks ago, he's like a Jordan figure of a politician. Kimmel does an entire bit kind of. of clowning Trump and you know how Kimmel in and Mom Donnie puts on a masterclass of being fun and engaging with Jimmy Kimmel
Starting point is 00:06:18 while never providing one thing Trump could be offended by even in this and at one point Kimmel does a thing he starts talking to him about texting with him and Mom Donnie's like yeah we you know occasionally this that he's like always using all caps like he does on so you know and Kimmel's having fun blah blah and Mom Donnie's just boom
Starting point is 00:06:35 handling it And then he's like, what about if we sent him a selfie together right now? Kimmel says that. And Mom Donnie is like, dude, he's like, I love you, Jimmy, but I love housing even more. Like he's the best. He's unstoppable. No, we've never seen it. I'm telling you guys, you think I'm lying?
Starting point is 00:06:55 We will one day look back and we'll be like Clinton was great. Obama was epic. Like we've seen Kennedy, we've seen politicians, you know, really be able to connect to people. I think this guy is going to have books written about him about how good he is at this level of it. He's not giving you that clippable moment. He is not falling for it. And he's operating in a time when it's the easiest
Starting point is 00:07:16 to make those mistakes. He's the youngest, you know, on this stage, when was someone young like this? On this biggest stage, he's unbelievable. And you see, all you people wanted me to do is praise him and all it took was him having us up there and now I can freely glaze the way I've wanted to. He's a man of his word.
Starting point is 00:07:38 So, anyways, that was very cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now, another thing we missed Laura was that we didn't get to the sunny Holston clip from the view. Right, let's play it. Let's play it. Because this is something that has been very controversial, a lot of emotional reactions to it. This is about the Cornell situation. I understand why, but take a look.
Starting point is 00:07:56 That under current New York state law, voluntary intoxication or drug use, and she voluntarily drank a lot. She voluntarily took snorted ketamine. off of one of the boys' body parts. Even though she was highly intoxicated when she arrived at the frat house. She was highly intoxicated, but had made plans to meet one of the young men. She allowed other boys
Starting point is 00:08:22 and consented to other boys snorting ketamine off of her body. And under New York law, voluntary intoxication or drug use that merely impairs judgment does not legally constitute an inability to consent to sexual activity, right?
Starting point is 00:08:38 So that means if you voluntarily ingest drugs, you voluntarily take alcohol, you can agree to have threesomes, which in her statement, she agreed to have two separate threesomes. One boy did walk in. One young man did walk in and say, everybody out. So there was one person that did that. And according to her statement, three of the young men
Starting point is 00:09:02 did not touch her. And so I say all the thing I I wonder sonny is. But I say all that to say the pictures of these young men who have not been charged, not been adjudicated, are being plastered all over the internet. I think people are reporting this story inaccurately. I think they're reporting it unfairly. And while this is something that we have to take very seriously,
Starting point is 00:09:26 there is no way, according to her statement in 2024, that any prosecutor would have brought forth the case. Yeah, but she was intoxicated. How did she? Under New York law, again, under New York law, voluntary intoxication. If you voluntarily drink 10 beers and you voluntarily ingest ketamine, but that intoxication-
Starting point is 00:09:48 That doesn't have anything to do with the fact that the guys attacked her, whether she's drunk or not. No, no. According to her statement, she says they did not attack her. Her statement in 2024, she, she, she consented to the sexual activity. She consented to it according to her own statement in 2024. Now, I prosecuted sex crimes for 10 years.
Starting point is 00:10:12 I believe women. I am not saying that we shouldn't believe her. But in 2024, she said one thing. And now in 2020, she's saying another thing. So a lot of people had issues with the way Sunny was delivering. Shocking. You know what I mean? And they didn't like what she was saying.
Starting point is 00:10:28 So they don't like the way that it's going to deliver. Right, right. But I was desperately trying to find this one lawyer who broke it down in such a beautiful way, and I thought it was, like, the best way to present it. Now, mind you, I'm not going to tell you. I don't know all the details of the case. I do not. You know, I know bits and pieces, and I have to read up a little bit more, and I haven't
Starting point is 00:10:46 read her statement. I haven't seen the text messages. I've heard, you know, and this is what I've heard, that there was Snapchat messages that were said free PUSS. Oh, no, that we've seen. Yes. Yes. Yes.
Starting point is 00:10:58 Yes. So all of that. But the one thing that we should really pay attention to is the New York. law because what this lawyer was breaking down, I'm going to find it. I'll have it for you guys on Monday. But the lawyer was saying like in California if you are intoxicated, you cannot consent
Starting point is 00:11:14 to anything. New York, it's different. Correct. And that we should be paying attention to that law and fight to change that law. Because she believed that because of that law, that's why these men will not be prosecuted. So yeah, it sounds like the law here is going to
Starting point is 00:11:30 make it basically null and void. Like it'll stop before it even start. it sounds like, which is crazy and something we need to fight. Because the idea of being able to consent when you're that intoxicated seems horrifying. Yes. But the fact of the matter is we're going to end up, this is why I just hate having discourse these days with social media because if you don't go with absolutely every thought lining up with one way, you are now seen as a supporter of the other. So if you point out there Like Sonny did there and say
Starting point is 00:12:05 Hey she said one thing in 24 She says something different in 26 And then you see as Joy Behar describes it They attacked her And she's like well The wording and stuff like this all matters Right she's saying she consented to a sex act
Starting point is 00:12:22 She wasn't like attacked on the street right And by the way we're saying like you can consent to a threesome That doesn't mean you consent to a gang rape Or a group sex act Which, by the way, went on for hours and hours and ended supposedly when she passed out completely. So the point of the matter is where I'm focusing my attention because it all seems very convoluted is just on the fact that for whatever consent was given, whatever drugs were done, the fact that parents raised boys who when they got to college saw a situation like this, some of them straight up advertised. it on Snapchat as if it was as if she was a piece of property everyone could come use right and then others said when they found this was happening oh this looks like fun I'm gonna jump in right to me
Starting point is 00:13:14 as someone who's not a legal expert but is the father of a daughter all I think think about is what a failure it is yeah to raise boys who would think that participating in that whatever version it was yeah that you were like I could try to stop this I I could leave. I could tell other people about what's going on. I could tell the authorities. Or I could just whip my dick out and jump in. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:42 That is a, if I were a parent of those kids, whether it's criminally liable or not, I don't know what I understand enough about the law, but it is a moral failure. It's reprehensible and disgusting. And also, just on like a personal level, like, y'all just want to like jump in have sex with other dudes around?
Starting point is 00:14:02 Like I just find it weirdo behavior. To me it's weirdo behavior, period. Yeah. I've never understood dudes who want to have sex with other hard dicks in front of them. It's not for me. Yeah. So I just don't relate to it. But it's all just so sad and awful.
Starting point is 00:14:14 Yes, Lou? Yeah, I was going to say, even to add to that, even some of the boys that might have been there that might feel the pressure because this happened at a fraternity, right? To feel the pressure that they have to do or engage in such acts or else their fraternity brothers might make fun of them or maybe they'll get killed. kicked out of the frat or something like that. Even those people that having to feel that pressure for that,
Starting point is 00:14:38 knowing that these guys are going to make fun of you because you didn't engage in the act while everybody else did. Yeah. That like those guys like having that culture around, you should be ashamed of. No, they should be ashamed of it and that you'd be weak enough, that you'd be weak enough to be worried about that rather than the, this person who you can see isn't doing good. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:14:58 Like you can see, you know, it sounds like based on. what's in there, she was at certain points clearly off and not doing well and pushing people. Like there was confusion and it wasn't, you know what I'm saying? It was not the set of a porn film with an adult making a choice to do these things. It was a really bad, clearly immoral situation and you decided to just like be good with it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's just what I was, I'm sorry, what I was trying to search when we were having this discussion that I saw a trailer to this documentary and listen we've all heard of how much sexual assault in college campuses specifically is swept under the rug no college wants that their name plastered in headlines they do not want
Starting point is 00:15:46 any kind of bad light to hit them we have heard stories over and over again and the documentary that was going to bring up it was just like a series of women telling their stories how they were coerced by police a lot of times to basically change change their story and for this mere fact like, hey, you cannot ruin this poor young man's life for a mistake that you probably took interest in. I mean, it sounds like you were into it. It sounds like you really wanted this. Like it that when I saw that trailer, I was like, oh my God, my head hurt because how many times and I work with young women, we hear about this all the time. Yeah. It's so, the whole thing's super upsetting, man. And I just for the parents of daughters,
Starting point is 00:16:28 it's upsetting. For parents of sons, it's upsetting. Yeah. Like, And listen, but the fact of the matter is before everyone, they're just going to scream on Twitter, if you're going to have legal conversations about it, you're going to hear things that sound irritating. Yeah. Like, why are we discussing it? It's clear. The fact of the matter is, though, these people, they can't just be immediately punished because on paper we see a story that disturbs us. That's just not how law in America works. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:16:55 We have to like hear what it is and then you're going to have to let it play out. And if someone up there like Sonny is describing as someone who's prosecuted, sex assault and she's sitting there saying, hey, this is how it works. You can't just shout her down because you don't like the words that come out of her mouth. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:17:09 So we're going to have to wait and see how this all plays out. I hope justice is served, but I urge everyone to just pay attention to this specific law. And if anything comes out of this, is that we should fight to change it. That's right.
Starting point is 00:17:21 But we also have to say when we hope justice is served that that may not mean it's the exact result that we right now are hoping it is. That may not be what justice being. served it. Yeah, it may not. But right now, you know, we, the, every day we hear more information on
Starting point is 00:17:37 this. So we're just going to have to wait and see. Yeah. So, so let's change the vibe. Let's change the tenor. Let's, let's do some family fun. Yeah, let's do it. Let's find out what Baskam's eating. By the way, it's almost as troubling as everything we've been talking to so far today. It's very upsetting. All right. So we'll see you guys on Patreon. And please, we invite you to join us. If you haven't joined, enjoy it today. See you. Don't fall in a pod
