This is a podcast from Rover.
Yo, from the sound of love music, love music, love life, love life.
A to the S to the H to the London.
Kia ora, Ash here.
Hopping into the studio a couple of days early.
I'm going to be joining Clint and Dan
from 6AM Monday for Brekkie, but hey,
we've got some big news, and big news like this
requires me to come into work a little early.
But I'm gonna get straight into it.
The Edge is stoked to bring Lorde back.
Hey, this is Lorde.
Please welcome.
Lorde.
Lorde!
Lorde!
Check out this.
It will never be right, oh Lorde. All right, time to start writing the next album.
Spark Arena, Wednesday 11th of Feb next year and Wolfbrook Arena in Christchurch on the
13th of Feb.
That's right, Lord is coming home baby!
Picks off next Thursday 2pm.
Journal tickets are on sale next Friday 2pm.
But of course, if you want some tickets head to the Edge NZ Instagram page right now or
listen out to the Edge workday arvos and nights because they have ticks to give away all day today.
Now, we thought we could have a bit of a Lord fest
to celebrate and over the years,
I've had the chance to sit down with Lord many times,
one of my favorite people to interview.
So we're gonna play some of the hits,
we're gonna take a look back
at some of our favorite interview moments.
The Clint, Meaghan, Dan podcast.
And if you didn't hear,
the Edge are stoked to bring Lord back to NZ
for her hometown tour.
It's the ultrasound world tour
hitting Auckland Spark Arena Wednesday,
11th of Feb, 2026.
And Wolfbrook Arena in Christchurch, 13th of Feb.
So this is our Lord Fest.
As we celebrate, it's Ash London here,
getting in the studio a couple days early
before we kick off Brekkie again on Monday.
If you are a huge Lorde fan like me,
you're gonna wanna put this in your diary.
The pre-sale kicks off next Thursday, 2 p.m.
and then general on sale next Friday.
But of course, if you wanna score freebies,
head to the Edge NZ Instagram page right now
or listen across the day.
So as part of our Lorde Fest,
we're gonna be playing some of our favorite songs
and some of my favorite interview moments with Lord.
Now, it's been four years since we got an album from Lord, The Last Being, Solar Power.
And one of the things I love about her is that she kind of does the big album and the tour
and then she kind of disappears for a while.
And I loved talking to her about this kind of the ebbs and the flows, the highs and the lows,
the louds and the quiets of the way she makes music.
Hello, darling friend, how are you?
Hello.
I'm really well, how are you?
Living my best life, just had my morning coffee.
Ah, love.
The studio smells like Glenn 20 antibacterial spray.
We're just living our best lives.
Ha ha!
There was a time that we thought, you know what,
maybe she won't be doing this again.
Maybe we won't be doing a press tour again with Lorde
and that's okay.
Did you ever think that?
Or did you know that you'd be back at some point
or was there ever a temptation to just go,
nah, I'm just gonna be a normal person now?
Well, the good thing about the way I do it
is I get to be a normal person for years at a time.
And then I have like six weird months, you know,
that are really fun and surreal and busy.
And then I go back to being a normal person.
So I never feel like I'm depriving myself
from that experience too much.
If anything, I'm like, oh God, this is kind of boring.
I maybe I romanticized how fun it was gonna be
to just be inside cooking all day, you know.
So it's good.
Just as I get sick of it, I bounce back.
But yeah.
I love that.
What's one signature dish that in normal Lord life,
I should say I guess that's Ella life
that you kind of nail
and you know you'll always impress people with?
Oh, well, I love cooking Emy kind of nail and you know you'll always impress people with. Oh well I love cooking Amy kind of seafood so recently I've been doing like a
mussel clam spicy tomatoey kind of leek tiny pastry kind of situation.
Some crusty bread that's pretty good.
That's gutsy I'm so too, I cook everything except seafood
because I'm convinced I'm gonna
**** it up and it's gonna be raw
and they'll get someone's food poisoned.
Exactly, you're so gutsy, mate.
Lean in, lean in.
Amen, you're right.
I will make like a seafood pay-a-ya,
whatever you're supposed to say, this week.
And I'll think of you, okay?
Spiritually tag me. I won't be okay? Do it and not spiritually tag me.
I won't be able to say it if you do tag me, but.
Which is a good thing.
And I think this is part of having a life.
And I think that's kind of maybe the next step for me
is to remove myself from social media.
Stick around for more of our Lord Fest
as we celebrate the return of Lord to New Zealand in 2026.
Please welcome Lord!
From her latest album, Virgin, that is Lord with Amanda Vigie. And if you haven't heard,
The Edge are stoked to bring Lord back to her hometown NZ for the ultrasound world tour,
which is hitting Auckland Spark Arena Wednesday 11th of Feb and then off to Christchurch on the
13th of Feb pre-sale next Thursday
and then general on sale next Friday.
Of course the air is just hooking you up on the Instagram and then if you keep listening
across the day there's more and then more on Monday on breakfast you're welcome.
But I'm calling this a bit of a Lord Fest.
We're playing our favourite Lord music.
I'm taking a look at some of my favourite interview moments with Lord including this
one where we discuss the big bad world of
social media.
It's a really, really, I mean, I really enjoy it.
I guess just the nature of my job makes social media an intense experience, but also I'm
a very sort of shy, sensitive person and it's just a lot of information, you know?
I realize now like I was just pummeling myself with headlines and thoughts
From other people all day and it didn't give me much room to have ideas or really brainstorm things, you know
So yeah, I'm very grateful. Does that change the way you interact in real life?
Like if you found that by cutting all of that out and that freeing up the brain space
It's meant that it's changed your in real life relationships
and what they look like and conversations and the sharing of information.
I mean, probably to be honest,
I remember every time I would come back from an extended period in New Zealand,
my colleague Jack Antonoff would say,
I can always tell when you've been in New Zealand because you talk so slowly.
It's like you're so relaxed.
You're just talking slowly.
And I feel like being off social media
probably has the same effect.
Like I'm just a very long form kind of slow person now.
But nah, I think it's cool.
The only thing I do think is that you,
I underestimated how much my friends' lives
I kept up with on the ground.
Like, people don't really tell you what they're up to.
They just tell everyone via a story,
and that's how people stay connected.
So I really have to sort of make friend dates
and make sure I see them.
And write birthdays down in a calendar.
Literally, I've been calendaring people's birthdays, Ash.
All happening. I love that.
And finally we're so excited that you're coming out on tour next year. Oh my gosh obviously I'll
be there with a sign it'll be great I might flash you. You'll know that's amazing. They will call to me.
Well thank you my darling. Thank you so much so nice to talk to you again. It's a pleasure. We love you, be safe, and we'll see you soon, like next year.
Thank you, yeah.
See you next year on tour.
Yeah, whoop, whoop, whoop.
Bye, matey.
Bye.
She really is the absolute best,
and we are so excited that she's coming back
for her ultrasound world tour in 2026.
