Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. See your mornings with Clint McGinn-Dan. Get breakfast. Good morning, 6 a.m. Monday. Morning. Good morning. Ready to take on a brand new week. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:14 That's our year, baby, the was. Win again? I know, can you believe it? Well, I'm sure people that really believe, believe. But it's starting to get feel really close now. 40 points to six. Second equal on the table. Luke Metcalfe, collateral damage.
Starting point is 00:00:28 You know how we were saying Luke's back? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, blue his hamstring out. for Mr. Game taking his second conversion. I need to stop watching it because the minute I turned it on this week, he blew his hammy. So I just need to stop watching it. You've got to be out. You've got to be out.
Starting point is 00:00:41 Dan's the jinx. I heard that we needed the points for this one. Yeah, because our points differential is the second best in the comp. So we're equal on points with the Panthers. Which is down to your... Yeah, the second with us. Oh yeah, but they've known to be the best. Yeah, they've won like five years in the last six.
Starting point is 00:00:59 Yeah, but I've had a bit of a choke over the last few games. haven't they? Yeah, well, at the moment it's roosters, then Panthers, then us. As long as we stay in the top four, we'll be fine. I think we've got the momentum of the top three teams. We're the ones that have been playing the best. We're playing when it matters. Three weeks to go.
Starting point is 00:01:16 And then play off, so a couple of months. A couple of short months for anyone that doesn't care. We're talking like it's near the end. Yeah, yeah. Oh, it's the point end. Plenty going on this week. Oh, gosh, too much stuff. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:30 Our cups are overflowing. Another imposter this week as well. Three stories, only one of them's telling the truth. That's after seven. Outrageous story as well. Maybe we'll tell you a little bit about it next because you go, well, that didn't happen to anyone. No, I did. But it happened to one of them.
Starting point is 00:01:44 Clint, Megan Dan. Oh, oh my gosh. Who's got something to share for coffee ketchup before we kick things off? Well, did you see that somebody's, I don't know, I missed their name, actually. Somebody has made a song about us. Yeah, in our Facebook group page. I think they've used AI. Yes, they have.
Starting point is 00:01:59 But what they've done is they've put in a whole load of facts about the show into a program called Suno, which I think a lot of artists now use, and it's like an AI tool to make music. Producer Carl will probably, do you have to pay for it, or is it free? Tomorrow made it. No, no, no, you pay for Suno. There is like a free version, but it sucks,
Starting point is 00:02:18 but even I use Suno yesterday to make an intro for something that we're doing on the show today. So yeah, that's good. All right. Do you want to hear some? Yeah, go. I haven't listened to you. Oh, that's a beat.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Turn it up. I can't, me guys, too past six we're already in, somebody's laughing Dan can't win. Clint make wrong completely dance. There we go. Oh, to an air parade, he goes, Ash, London. And we need that all the show. Very good. I genuinely like, I need that.
Starting point is 00:03:48 So I want to make some promos and stuff. You know the things that play during the day to advertise the show? I don't know. I know everyone loves AI, but sometimes it's cool and I think it's cool there. Thanks, Tamara. Yeah, thank you. Tomorrow, get that shit on the air and send tomorrow a check. I would say Tamara, you're very talented.
Starting point is 00:04:02 But you didn't do, you just plugged in a whole lot of faxed in a sooner. That was great. Well, I actually really like it. It's upbeat ass. Yeah, it's good fun. Someone has commented on it because they posted on the Edge Podcast Fam. You can text, I think, fam to 3343 if you want to join the exclusive group. Someone commented on it saying it gave them goosebumps.
Starting point is 00:04:20 That's how good it is. Yeah, I went on a button bar and just hit it off. And then it just goes, you know, when we just come out of an outbreak. Yeah. Give me an instrumental version two cup. Can you get that? Sure. Thanks, bro.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Thank you. If you can't get Suno to do it. Yeah. That is crazy, though, that technology can just do that. Because you're right, then it's just, anyone who's creative goes, I couldn't have whipped that up in that time. I know.
Starting point is 00:04:45 But then it gets to a point where nothing's amazing now, because AI does it all, you know? I know. You're watching an incredible, like, animal video in the wild that somebody has managed to capture this once in a lifetime moment after filming animals for 30 years, and everyone goes, AI, swipes off. I know.
Starting point is 00:05:01 And he's like, no, it's not. And also people that are doing like actual work or writing songs or writing things, music, books, anything, are now getting accused of, oh, you've just used AI. And so people aren't impressed even though they put their whole life into it. I saw a video of Stephen Hawking doing a backflip in his wheelchair the other day. It's not real. You know, and so definitely. No, that one wouldn't be. No, I know.
Starting point is 00:05:20 But, you know, I saw it. I was like, what an incredible guy. You re-posted it. Yeah, I did. I had, well, I literally had this weird moment yesterday where I'd made something. I was making like a logo for something. And I showed my wife. I was like, hey, she got the logo made.
Starting point is 00:05:33 By the way, AI didn't make this. I made it. She was like, good or weird at me, because if she was like, oh, you don't have to say that. You have to defend it these days. Yeah. Yeah. That's my work, not AI. Actually, when someone does think somebody's AI that you've done, though, that's kind of a compliment, I suppose.
Starting point is 00:05:46 I guess it's a compliment. Yes. Yeah. There's always somebody, whenever I do a poem on ear, that goes, no, AI. No one's saying. She says you're mitzer of fear. Hey, what do you mean is this? Clint Megadden.
Starting point is 00:05:58 Leschol. This is where all the celebrities start making their way of New Zealand around now. I think Alex Warren's the first one. Cross Church this Friday and Saturday and then Auckland next Monday. Well, I thought I was thinking because Alex is in the country this week. We could do a hit-the-spot, Alex Warren edition, later this week. Maybe on Friday because that's when he's playing in Christchurch.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Is that when his first show is? Crush Church. Yeah, Cross-Such. So he has a great song that has a very perfect hit-the-spot moment. and it's this one here, play it, and it's an easy, well, it's not easy, but it's got a long, and it's an easy spot to come in.
Starting point is 00:06:46 So you're in the, oh my, my. You're taking me out. Oh, you're out? Okay. So that is an option if we wanted to do that later this week. And you know, never know, maybe Alex would see it. Surely he'd see her. He's perpetually online. Yep.
Starting point is 00:07:03 I mean, that's a secondary income, isn't it? Doing online stuff is all that. He's always online. He's always online. I'm in his wife. And then I think from then, I think it's probably Jason DeRullo in September, post Malone. And then October's just all the girls. It's all the girls. Yeah. I don't know how you're doing Lily Allen one. No. Hillary Guff. I can come in with that FU song. Oh yeah. Yeah. This is a big work. Obviously, Zara Lassim.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Yeah, Olivia Dean. That's a big one that everyone thought they'd missed out on tickets too. Yeah. And then very, very exciting. Of course, now she's going to be, if you haven't heard, going to Western Springs, which is probably another 30,000 possible tickets to be sold. Yeah. I think if the Olivia Dean concert goes really well at the Western Springs Bowl, that's going to be like another huge venue for New Zealand to have these artists. Because in Auckland, obviously, there's the Spark Arena, which I think holds about 10,000 people.
Starting point is 00:07:53 Then you've got Mount Smart in Eden Park, who I think they are in the 50s. And then you've got this other now arena in Auckland. So there's so many options. Christchurch now has the new stadium. We're spoiled for venues for New Zealand. If you haven't got Olivia Dean tickets too, by the way. This is mentor. I was talking to producer Brady about this at the start of the show. He was like, man, that's crazy what we're doing with Olivia.
Starting point is 00:08:14 You can win tickets for you and your three mates and accommodation and flights if you're not in Auckland. Yeah, all completely sorted. And I know about the accommodation. It's like a little walk to the area. It's like an Airbnb for you and your mates. And it's just a little toddle on down to Olivia Dean. So you don't have to worry about Uber's or anything if you're not from Auckland. For me, it would be struggling to get three mates.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Yeah, that's true. I know, who would you choose? Especially three mates that are free. Yeah. Yeah, it's a shame as for you, Clinton, Carl. Sad to producer Brady. Someone's going to miss out. Hey, yeah, listen out for the festy bestie cuter call.
Starting point is 00:08:51 So that's going to start playing from Thursday when tickets go on sale. It'll play a few times throughout the day. But if you hear one, you've got a couple minutes to call 0800 The Edge. And if you get through within two minutes, you'll be added to the standby list. So, yeah, best of luck. someone from the standby list will be call back on ear by us on Monday 7th of September and been told that you and your three mates are going
Starting point is 00:09:13 Airbnb flights all sorted you've gone from thinking you've missed out to going absolute VIP to Olivia Dean Do you think Olivia Dean's nervous because this is going to be her biggest concert of her career? Something about that woman when I see a performing live doesn't look like she experiences nerves no no but if I was her I'd be like
Starting point is 00:09:30 I've got to like completely hold this whole stadium in the palm of my hand it's hard to do It's somewhat easier to do in an arena, I guess, because it's so intimate. But this is like a huge bowl. Yeah, true. It's a big difference. Well, pre-registration is open now. General On Sale starts Thursday.
Starting point is 00:09:49 That's when you can listen out for Festy Bestie Cuticles as well. Meg's got a quiz for dummies to give you a little bit of a warm-up before we get to easy money with $1,000 at 7 this morning. Have we got – I think we might have some sort of edge merch prize pack that I can tease you with. digging. Yeah, we'll find something I can. We'll reach into our pockets. Get the ball. Clint Megan Dan. Spinky Boo.
Starting point is 00:10:11 Clint Megan Dan's scandal. Kristen Bell surprised the stadium to perform with the Savannah Banana's baseball team. For years I've roamed these empty halls. Why have a ballroom with no wows? Finally, and there'll be actual real ones. She sounds perfectly
Starting point is 00:10:30 like, well, the exact same as the movie, right? She's so amazing. And the night before she was performing at Disney is at D23. So must have just hopped straight on a flight To go to that game Incredible I wonder if the kids are impressed by it
Starting point is 00:10:45 If they've watched Frozen or if they're like You'd be pissed off if they weren't hey I'd be like come on I'm doing everything I'm playing What's it? Not Elsa, she's the other one Anna I'm doing this, I'm performing What else can I do?
Starting point is 00:10:57 Yeah she's amazing She also handled a microphone malfunction Like a pro at the Disney thing as well So she's just the best And Jesse Jay uploaded a tongue-in-cheek Tearful video I apologising for signing up to Reya, which is the Liberty Dating app,
Starting point is 00:11:10 after she found out a tabloid threatened her to write a story on it. So my management have just told me something, and I want to tell you guys the truth. I updated and reactivated my Raya account on a dating app. I did it, I did. For two days, I surrendered, and I just got excited. Yeah, yeah, so I guess the,
Starting point is 00:11:35 I think it was the son tabloid who said, to her management, we're going to tell if you're on DETI's on dating app, she was like, okay. Thanks for the promo. Just hits. In Auckland. How do you get on Ray? Like, do you have to prove that you're a celebrity?
Starting point is 00:11:53 You have to either be a celebrity or rich. How famous is it? What's the celebrity in their eyes? Well, you could get on Dan. Haley Sprout from Z-Ems on. Well, then they can't be much of a celebrity then. Oh. Well, yeah, but it's like, celebrity within your.
Starting point is 00:12:08 country? Or are we comparing ourselves to Beyonce and GSI? Well, I don't think Beyonce's going on unless something goes wrong with her in Jay-Z. Yeah, she'll be fine. Becky with the good hair might get involved somehow. Yeah, I think, I think it would be... I mean, we could try and get on, but we obviously
Starting point is 00:12:24 can't because we're all married, but... Hey, what our partners don't know, won't hurt them, mate. These students are, unfortunately. No, I didn't. Unfortunately, we're all married here. I think we did. Let's get Meg on Raya and see how she goes. All right, quiz for dummies next. Let's all really pump up your tires. It should do.
Starting point is 00:12:41 There's a little risk involved because there is always the off chance that you get nervous and you embarrass yourself in front of the country. But, I mean, the chance of that is so low. So low. It's a quiz for dummies. You can't lose.
Starting point is 00:12:53 In fact, even if you get on here, we'll give you a price. That's how simple it is. Oh, 8, Under the Edge, quiz for Dummies next. A nice little warm up for easy money at 7. Clint, Megan Dan. Quiz for Dummies. Let's see how Laura from East Auckland.
Starting point is 00:13:06 Pistol trainer goes this morning. Hello, Laura. Hello. Hey, Laura. Part of East Auckland are you, Pakaranga, Howick, Buckland's Beach? Yeah, Half Moon Bay. Oh, lovely part of the country, Half Moon Bay. So we get on the ferry to go to Whitehake.
Starting point is 00:13:21 It is, gorgeous. Yeah, they're going to the car ferry there. Do you get over much? No, not in a long time. Yeah. Okay, now I would say a personal trainer, because that's what you are, Laura, that'd be pretty smart. I know about all the body, the human parts, body parts.
Starting point is 00:13:38 Please don't ask any questions on Funny Potts. Oh, I might change it up. It should be a specialty subject. Okay, Laura, good luck. Let's see if you really are a dummy. Nice and easy. 20 seconds on the clock. Meek's got five questions.
Starting point is 00:13:52 If you give us an answer, table card, we have to take your first answer. Okay. Okay. Here we go. Okay. But show everyone how good you are. Sorry, okay, here we go. Name a planet with rings.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Second. Name a fruit with seeds. 11. What a baby cows called? Carl. What's 35 minus 27? 8. Capital of Australia?
Starting point is 00:14:23 No, what? Canberra. No. Laura, you don't have to say, I'm Laura, I'm a big dummy. Good for you. I'm Laura, I'm a big dummy. No, no, no, no. You don't have to say that.
Starting point is 00:14:38 You got it right, you won. Don't have to say that. I'm ironically though I'm not all right I'm a big dummy right Oh you're such a team play Just do what if we tell you Yeah
Starting point is 00:14:51 Laura we're gonna put you on your You're the first name on the hall of fame Yeah Wow Oh that's awesome How sad is that This is your same time I've ever got It's through a radio station
Starting point is 00:15:01 Really? Oh look That's easy to get through to us I will say this Laura Whereabouts you personal training Like what gyms are you do It's a little gym in how it called Growing Younger for the Over 40s and it's awesome
Starting point is 00:15:16 Oh, epic! I love that! Yeah, yeah. What's all right? Maybe I'll come and see you in about seven years then. No, you're over 40, Clint, you could go? Yeah, you're well inside. He's 41 now. Hey, well, Laura, thanks for chatting.
Starting point is 00:15:31 We're on Edge merch pack that we'll get out to you, I'll produce cars. Oh, lovely. Thank you so much. Thanks, Laura. Thanks, babe. Yeah. I mean, do we have to take her off this much? list after she said she was a bit gummy.
Starting point is 00:15:42 She's a little, she's wavering. Yeah, because she's the only one I'm going to keep with that for now. Yeah, nice. Thank you, Laura. Okay, coming up next. It's probably quite fitting, actually, of what Laura was talking about. You know you're over 35 when. Meg turned 36 recently. And there are certain things that start to happen where you just know,
Starting point is 00:16:00 yep, you're north of 35. Things have changed, yeah. I found, I mean, I've always had bad knees, to be fair, but they are getting worse. And I was just trying to do the C-Saw work. daughter on the weekend and I had to like do squats. I could do like four before going oh. Yeah. I think after the age of 35 you have to make some sort of noise when you get up and down.
Starting point is 00:16:21 I creep. I creep. I creep now. Clint, Megan, Dan. You know you're over 35 when Meg has joined the club. She's now 36. Thank you. Joining Dan and I. Thank you. Thank you. In fact, actually I was looking up the other day apparently. Ageing is not like a steady slow line. Everyone expects, like, from, you know, 20 up to 40 every year you'll look a little bit older. It doesn't happen like that.
Starting point is 00:16:43 It's actually certain years you turn that you have a drastic, like, change in ageing. Really? So, yes, so the shift happens around 44. Clint? Ages, look at ages. Around 60 and then another wave at 78. Those are the three ages that apparently you have this really big change to aging. Really?
Starting point is 00:17:05 So you start feeling older at those years? Your body goes through rapid waves of change. It's the biggest molecular and protein shift that happens. According to Google, I just googled what does mean for being 35. Hangovers now require a three-day recovery plan instead of just the next day. Sleeping in an odd angle on the couch or in bed can cause chronic neck lock. Metabolism slows down. Obviously, a lot of people would experience that where they could eat anything before they were 35.
Starting point is 00:17:36 And now everything they eat goes to it. That was well before 35. Oh, yeah. And stretching becomes much more necessary after the age of 30, apparently, because normally you can just go for a run before you're 30. I went to a physio the other week and I'd done my back. And he goes, I was, how'd you do it?
Starting point is 00:17:54 I was like, well, I was washing my hands after using the bathroom. And then I rotated quickly to the towels. And it went, bang, as I was drying my hands. And he goes, yeah, we're not going to be able to put that on the ACC form. They won't pay that. He was like, so we'll have to do it at the gym. And I was like, well, no, you just tune me. I'll just, don't put it through ACC.
Starting point is 00:18:14 Just tune me up and they'll be back on my way because I'm always blowing my back anyway. But I was like, yeah, we can't. I was like, well, it wasn't accident. I accidentally hurt my back while drying my hands. It's like, ACC won't pay that. Isn't it freaky when you do your back, Clint? And you just go, how did that even? I've only did it once.
Starting point is 00:18:28 It was right before my kid's birthday last year. And I remember being like, how has this even happened? because I don't remember, you're right, it was the smallest, it was like I stepped and it was gone, my back was gone, and I couldn't move, what the hell? I know, anything. My thing is, like, after I turn 35, it's the noises that I make from my body now. Like, I think it's, like, when I have to bend down, like my son, you're always on the floor when you've got a kid, eh, because of the toddler that you're having to pick stuff off. And I always have to make like a verbal noise when I go down and up. Like, it just becomes a thing where it's subconscious.
Starting point is 00:19:02 But you're a gym grunter though, so... I am not. I was at the gym, yes, I've just started to go to the gym again. I do everything in my power not to show any facial pain or any noise from my mouth, just because I don't... Everything looks easy. Well, it should be easy when you're doing eight kilo dumbbells. You should be grunted.
Starting point is 00:19:17 Eight kilos is heavy for some people. Yeah, exactly. Pillows, okay. Somebody six through going, you know, over 35 when? And they've said, I get super excited when I get to open a new kitchen sponge. Oh, no, you need a better life. No, I get that. We have the same call.
Starting point is 00:19:32 bigger world. Honestly, if you start opening sponges and that excites you, you need to get something else in your life. You need a bigger world. I know what you mean, though, when you go, right, this one is done. I've used it enough and then you pull out like a fresh, a fresh, bright yellow one. Nothing like a fresh sponge. God, me, you need a bigger world.
Starting point is 00:19:49 You need to go to holiday or something. All right, what do you got? I'm going to pull this one down early for Chantal because she wants to share her story, but she's on a plane. It's about to take off. That's the intercom going. Are they just shut down? Chantelle, are they doing the safety thing briefing right now?
Starting point is 00:20:07 No, no, it took a briefing. Actually, this is really late. I think I'll be really quick. I literally did my neck really badly by just turning around and turning the water going up, turn the temperature up. The problem was, is my heat kept going to the side, and so as to walk around town, I had to, like, I've seen an officer talking on my phone with my head.
Starting point is 00:20:26 Oh, yeah, because you had your neck cranked the whole time, so you're like, oh, hi, I'm on my phone. Yeah, you know, you're over 35 when, so you want, just turned the heat up in the shower, crinked your neck, and then had it stuck there for how long? Like a week. A week?
Starting point is 00:20:39 Oh my gosh. Yeah. To Tizio could sort it out. I mean, I did it once the week of my wedding, and I did it again yesterday, but that was by just waking up. Wow. Just waking up.
Starting point is 00:20:51 You're stressing me out right now, because you're the person on the plane that I'm sitting next to go, and she's still on her phone, she's still on her phone. Whereabouts are you going? I'm getting back in a German. I go there every Monday, But the thing is, if I'm wearing a mask, so I can't tell on talking. I'm sitting there.
Starting point is 00:21:05 Sorry. I'm hot-knit making... Of all the places you could be going, because I was like, she off to Fiji or is she going, I don't know, somewhere warm, Hamilton. Now, Shantel, be honest, you're one of these people that doesn't put your phone in flight mode. You don't believe in that sort of thing? I don't know. I don't do what Clump did that time.
Starting point is 00:21:20 I'm good. Okay, good. All right. Shantar, have a great time in Hamilton. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Tell him we Zed I.
Starting point is 00:21:27 Yeah. I love the Tron. All right. Denise, good morning. How do you know that you're over 35? Oh, well, because I just can't drink like I'm sad. Yeah, yeah. I feel like I lost that in early 30.
Starting point is 00:21:40 So I think you're doing pretty well at what age are you? I'm 52. I'm going well past it. I mean, you, like, even the fact that you can have a couple of drinks and not feel is pretty good. How many did you put away over the weekend? I started with a beer because beer and wine and you'll be fine. I'm wine and beer and you'll be queer. Right.
Starting point is 00:21:59 Oh wait, I didn't know that. Beer and then wine and you'll be fine. Okay, good. So you've got a follow. So you always start with a beer. Yeah. And then I had a bottle of wine and then I went into whatever those like canned drink. You know, the RTDs?
Starting point is 00:22:14 Yeah. Yeah. So you hit a beer, a bottle of wine and then RTDs. How many RTDs? Yeah. Oh, only about three. Oh, my gosh, did these you in a bottle? Wow, I'd be on the floor with half a bottle.
Starting point is 00:22:28 Good on you. You would put most 20-year-olds to shake. Yeah, hell yeah. My goodness. I used to do three bottles, four bottles, no worries. It's just getting harder, but that's okay. I can still like it.
Starting point is 00:22:39 But then what, two ibuprofen, two panadol and a barocca? Yeah. Yeah, what's Denise's hangover cure, actually? I need to know. For a woman that used to do four bottles of champas, what's your hangover cured, Denise? Just get to bed and take your water. Get up early.
Starting point is 00:22:56 Get up early. Like, I'm not walking now, but, and it's minus five in Alexandria. You could get about a little cold. Denise, you're built different. You're built different. If you could do three bottles of champas and then get up and have a walk in Alexandria the next morning, honestly, we can't relate. Do you know the funny thing is my wife had a good bit of news recently,
Starting point is 00:23:15 and we got a bottle of champagne. I had three glasses and had a hangover the next morning. So the fact that you had three bottles is unbelievable. Well, it always gives you a good bit of fat, doesn't it? Yeah, good on you, Denise. Wow. You know you're over 35 when, see how many can relate to me. You see a photo of yourself and then immediately blame the lighting. Oh, God, I've done that since I was 10. What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:23:40 You know, there was an age thing? You have a favourite supermarket because you know exactly where everything is? I have a favourite supermarket for certain things. For certain things that I want to do. God, how pathetic. If somebody says we're heading somewhere after this, you immediately want to know where, how far, how late in is their parking? I'm saying no. How old am I if I'm going?
Starting point is 00:23:59 What do you mean after this? I've got... Unless it's her favourite supermarket. Yeah, true. All right, Easy Money's next. A thousand bucks on the line if you can give us 10 answers in 30 seconds, starting with the letter E. Good luck.
Starting point is 00:24:12 Your favourite game on the edge just hits. Easy money. One past seven on your Monday. Here we go, 30 seconds on the clock. If you can give us 10 answers, starting with the letter E this morning, we will give you 1,000 bucks. No repeated answers, can pass and if we've got time, we'll come back.
Starting point is 00:24:31 Hey, beer. Hey guys, good morning. Morning, beer. You're a pastry chef at a cafe. Give it a plug. Yes, I work in Bertone. The place is called Small Batch. Nice. Yeah, Bertone is great for their cafes,
Starting point is 00:24:45 by the way. Yeah, very good. We do, yeah. Have you started yet? Start of work? I have, like, an hour ago. Okay, so you're just hanging out out of the back, trying to win some cash?
Starting point is 00:24:55 I'm just hanging out the back. Let's be a thousand bucks Alright let's keep the show on the road Keep the customers waiting otherwise Love it beer Okay your letter is E You ready Yeah thank you
Starting point is 00:25:07 Here we go An animal Elephant A country Ethiopia A number 11 A famous puppet
Starting point is 00:25:19 Elmo Something you drink Agnog A movie Elm Street An occupation An electric Something that happens once a year
Starting point is 00:25:37 Time, Bea. Easter. You did very good, but Easter, Eurovision, Emmy Awards or something like that, but Easter probably would have been the go-to. You had a verb and a male musician left. It was great run, just not quick enough. Yeah, not quick enough. That was the key there.
Starting point is 00:25:54 That's okay, guys. Oh, I'll play again. Thanks, Bia. I had a question mark on the movie she gave. I didn't quite catch it. Is that what she said? Yeah, Almer on Elm Street. I don't know if we would have been able to pay that.
Starting point is 00:26:07 I thought E.T. would have been a sitter. for E. E-T, E-Z-A, Enkanto's another one, Elf. Yeah, there's a few E-movies, but yeah, I don't know if Elm Street is, there's nightmare on Elm Street. Yeah, it's nightmare on Alm Street, unfortunately.
Starting point is 00:26:21 Yeah, you can sort of hear, I don't know if it was being played through the radio, she had somebody helping, which is great, but the problem is the time it takes for them to tell you and then you to tell us. Yeah, next time whoever was helping you on the background, be it, get them to call. Because there's less pressure maybe on them.
Starting point is 00:26:35 True. Yeah. All right, next. The imposter is back. Clint Megan Dan. One truth. Two lies. And $500.
Starting point is 00:26:50 We gave the cash to the right person on Friday. It was. The imposter's both missing out. Let's see how we go this week. One person actually really lived to tell the story. The other two lying through their teeth. You need to help us work out who's telling the truth. And then we can award the person who is $500.
Starting point is 00:27:07 But if we unfortunately are fooled by the imposter, they steal the cash. Yeah, as you said last week, Clint, we got it right. Can we get it right this week? Okay, well, Indy is up first. What allegedly happened to you, Indy? When I was 12 years old on Christmas morning, we woke up to a police helicopter landing on our backyard
Starting point is 00:27:28 and a slot team in our house. You're very confidently said, which I like. That is a good first step. But wouldn't you do that if you knew you were lying? You'd come out of the gates, you know, sure of yourself. Do you remember the colour of the helicopter? Yeah, it was like a dark blue It was kind of like a smaller helicopter
Starting point is 00:27:45 But it was dark blue on the front of it It had like a police like Like like it just said police The tip of the helicopter Okay And what we're, it's Christmas morning You're a young child And a helicopter's coming in
Starting point is 00:27:56 What happens to the household? What do mum and dad doing or brother and sisters? So it was actually like nothing bad Or sinister was happening So my, we were staying at my aunt and uncle's house And they basically had a friend who was in the police and they thought it would be like a really awesome Christmas surprise for us kids if they like would come and pop by.
Starting point is 00:28:17 So they actually came, it was a big surprise for us. And then they ended up coming inside, had tea and coffee with us inside and just talk to us about like what they do in the police and whatnot. Now that's a great bloody lie if it is one because what a great, because you're not having to lie about illegal things. But will they have the money and the petrol clinic? What a waste of police resources? Yes, true.
Starting point is 00:28:37 Yeah, that's true. But maybe how long ago was this? Because questions weren't asked in the 19. Like, how long ago were talking? So, then, like, 2018. Oh, God, recently. I'd be very concerned of police helicopters. I literally was looking at photos because I took photos.
Starting point is 00:28:52 Well, my mom took photos of us when we were in the helicopter. But then you also said that there was a SWAT team as well, didn't you? How many of them were there? No, that was that what? They were, like, police, like, special ops. Like, that was not. Police special ops came. Wait, how many?
Starting point is 00:29:07 It was just, like, three of them. It was just the people in the helicopter. I don't know if they were, like, small. Three people gave up their Christmas morning just to cheer up some uncles. But the crazy thing is because it feels like this story is so far-fetched. But as we've been reminding people, one person is telling the truth. I know, I know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:24 Indy, as time is running out, you're not lying to us, are you? I'm not lying to you. I swear on it. I could tell you literally the logo that was on the helmet that I wore, like the headset. Okay, it's probably said police. Yeah, that's what I would have guessed. Unfortunately, For us, that's time.
Starting point is 00:29:42 All right, Indy. We will find out end of the week if that actually happened to you or not. I mean, she's a good liar. Thank you, Indy. If it is a lie. Thank you very much. No, she said she wasn't lying.
Starting point is 00:29:53 She said she wasn't. Yeah, but you would say that though, wouldn't you? That's what a lie would say. Yeah. Tomorrow we will hear from somebody else. First thoughts. I believe her. Is there anything that was said or wasn't said where you went,
Starting point is 00:30:07 whoa, hold on. That doesn't make sense. Someone's text through saying it costs too much To turn helicopters on and off It didn't happen They wouldn't do it just for her To make a family happy That's what I was thinking
Starting point is 00:30:17 Mm hmm I mean does anyone Did anyone use to work in the police force Was this a common occurrence Where you'd just go for joint rides To police children No Do you believe it?
Starting point is 00:30:26 A way hundred the edge One truth Two lies And five hundred dollars All right I was just heard from Mindy Who says this happened to her When I was 12 years old
Starting point is 00:30:39 On Christmas This morning, we woke up to a police helicopter landing on our backyard and a slot team in our house. Yeah. And it's a weird thing to happen on Christmas Day. You wouldn't think that they would be working, especially going and doing a nice visit to someone's house. Really. Rod's saying, nah, he doesn't believe her. I think she's lying.
Starting point is 00:30:57 Morning, Rod. Boy, Dave. So you prescribed to the fact that we, I think we briefly spoke about it, that helicopters, every time you start them up and turn them off, you can only do it a certain amount of times before they need a full engine rebuild. Yeah, and it costs heaps to do that So I think it's a bit far-fetched And the health and safety element of having kids in the helicopter They'd have to turn it off to even let them sit in there
Starting point is 00:31:22 And why would they land in, you know, potentially dangerous place Unless their place is a massive big open field Could be They wouldn't take the risk unless it was emergency Okay, so maybe that's an important question to ask the other two Because somebody did have a helicopter land in their backyard and then swap crash through the house.
Starting point is 00:31:41 Because one of them is telling the truth. We've only heard from Indy. We've got two more people saying Indy's lying. It happened to me. But two of them, of course, are impostors. I mean, I was assuming she was living in, like, a semi-rural area. Because if they're landing in, like, a built-up location. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:54 And, like, on Christmas Day. I don't know. All right, Nicole. Morning. Morning. Morning. What are your thoughts? Well, I have had my son goes to daycare,
Starting point is 00:32:05 and one of the daycare parents is a police officer, and they had the, helicopter land at daycare and let the kids have a look around and talk to the officers. So there you go, it does happen. That does very much so give some credibility. Yeah, credibility to that story. Using taxpayer dollars to show toddlers a helicopter. Do you know what I will say though, Nicole? I think dropping it off at a daycare or
Starting point is 00:32:29 kindy, at least there's 30 kids that get to appreciate it rather than just one family that's getting special treatment on Christmas Day. Okay, thank you, Nicole. That's really good insights, though, that it can happen and it does happen. Chrissy said she sounded way too rehearsed. So, mate, like she'd written it down. So she's calling fake. Keep the feedback coming through because New Zealand, you are the jury and you got it right last week.
Starting point is 00:32:52 Yeah, okay. Well, we'll hear from two more people. Same time, we'll keep it just after 7 o'clock. And then you can let us know who you think seems like they might be telling the truth. And who are the impostors? Because we don't want to give the 500 bucks to somebody when it didn't even happen to them. And Nathan has said that he had a helicopter landed at his dad's house, but he was a drug dealer.
Starting point is 00:33:10 So they will send them out to drug dealers. It was a Christmas day though, Nathan. That's the question. All right, next, Meg Talks, breakup letters, and whether you should ever write one. Quarter past seven, Clint McG and Dan on the edge. Clint Meg and Dan. I was reading through capsule the other day,
Starting point is 00:33:25 which was one of my favourite online magazines, and they were talking about something that unfortunately pinged a very suppressed deep down memory for me, closure letters, which is where if you get broken up with, you write a little. letter to X. Why? Because for closure.
Starting point is 00:33:42 No, but wait, okay. Is it like one of those you write it, never send it? No, well that's what they're kind of talking about, whether you write it down, therapist recommend it, you write it down and you can either decide to burn it or send it. I did send mine. Why bother though? You've washed your hands of this person. But I haven't. I didn't
Starting point is 00:33:58 feel like I had. I got dumbed and then they left and I'm like, and that's... But don't you worry, he reads the letter and goes, thank God I did that. I feel sick. So that's what a vulnerability Hangover is something I've never heard of before until this morning, which is when you have regret or shame about something that you've done after you were vulnerable about.
Starting point is 00:34:17 So you write, send this letter and then there's these amazing women coming forward talking about their closure letters where they're like, yeah, get it all out, blah, blah, blah, blah. And thank you so much for the amazing time we've had. And I can't, you know, blah, blah, blah. Send it off. And then afterwards they go, oh, God, what have I done? The nausea that comes.
Starting point is 00:34:35 And one of the girls admitted that they did get a reply from their ex and they were, yeah, Clint's just close as I was. It's a mind there. And then they, from that, they've like, had just cringe for the rest of their life because the ex was very nice about it, which almost made it worse because they were like,
Starting point is 00:34:50 well, it's just, yeah, I don't love you anymore and that's that. But I would, yeah, I did send one. I wrote it out, cried on twice. I think I left my little tear drops on. Oh, so it was handwritten. It was smudged, Clint with tears. Oh, damn. I thought it might have been email so she could go back into a cent.
Starting point is 00:35:06 No, no, no. Oh, I wish, Clint. and I wish I even had a relationship with this person again so I almost would love to know what they thought of it when they got it. I sprayed it with my perfume. So it had tears on it? Well, I didn't do tears and then circle and say my tears. But Clint, don't change the music, please.
Starting point is 00:35:23 I'm being very vulnerable here. I think it's more, and sorry Meg, I'm going to use the word cringe. When you've been broken up with and then you send the letter. I sort of get it if you break up with someone and you want to sort of send some thoughts just to clarify. But they would be like, nothing you could say. They'd be like, just piss off, mate.
Starting point is 00:35:42 You're trying to like make it better for yourself, maybe. It's mostly for the people that get dumped, so they feel like they get a chance to get their words out because they get blindsided by this dumping. The other person gets to say everything. You're sitting there going, hold on a second. What are you talking about? I haven't formed my sentences because I'm still trying to take in what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:35:59 Exactly. And then you're just, it's just meant to be over after five years of being together. You don't get any other conversations, any other. Thanks. Because I thought of anything. you might get it. I get that because if it does come out of the bloom, for a lot of people it does,
Starting point is 00:36:10 you're trying to listen to everything they say so that you can process that later on. And then how many people are going to say exactly what they really truly wanted to in that moment? Never. You never get to. So you get to write it down and then you can burn it, probably a bit of the idea,
Starting point is 00:36:26 or you can send it. And then you can say, don't write back or I don't expect to reply. I didn't get one. You didn't get a reply. Even after you sprayed it with your scent. That's strange. No, no, no, I did it.
Starting point is 00:36:36 Even though he was like, oh, God, that smell. Oh, I miss the smell of her. God, she smells good. But no, no, you're stronger than this. Oh, God, it's so embarrassing at looking back now. But I had to do it. I had to get, I literally was going to burst if I didn't get my thoughts and feelings out. And it was, oh, I cringe now.
Starting point is 00:36:51 I'm kind of mad that I didn't have it. It wasn't an angry letter. It was more like, thank you so much for the amazing time that I've had with you. Oh, hoping that it would get him back on the hook. Yuck! It's worse. That's worse. That is worse.
Starting point is 00:37:03 At least let him know, yeah, we're done. I didn't get a message from. my ex just via text message, but it was to say that her credit card was still attached to my Uber Eats, and I was ordering Uber Eats a lot. Right, not quite during the breakup. Not quite a closure letter. I picture the letter as well from Meg's
Starting point is 00:37:18 handwritten is like when she's folded it and then she's like sealed it with a like a kiss so she put red lipstick on. Like you know like some sort of King's wax stamp with Meg's lips. Wouldn't have been far off it Clint. I was yeah, I was down bad. I was down real bad and I wanted to be the bigger person by writing this thank you
Starting point is 00:37:34 letter for the amazing year that I had with this person. But looking back, it's just crazy. Did you attach some polaroids with you just doing like... No, just nudes. Yeah, this is what you're not getting anymore. I'm joking. Okay, like, does anybody else want to join me on
Starting point is 00:37:49 Honesty Corner that they've written a closure letter to somebody or received one? Maybe it'll be good to see the other side of it. Do you think they're more common now or more coming back then? Gosh, I don't know. Well, they're talking about it now on the internet a lot. So that was why I was like, I thought this was just something I did. I genuinely thought, oh, this is crazy. but then when you think about it, it's so true that you may not
Starting point is 00:38:09 have gotten the things off your chest that you wanted to in that moment. If the breakup took only like three or four minutes to happen, of course you would have had some stuff still to say. Does it count if it's like an abusive one? Like piss off, I didn't love you anyway, that kind of thing? Or does it have to be a bit lovy-dovey? No, it doesn't have to be anything. It's just a letter that you've sent to somebody after they broke up with you.
Starting point is 00:38:31 Will we take long texts? Yes. I guess the modern version. I did mine with a pen and paper back in the day. I went under the edge or fire us a text. 3343. Have you written a closure letter after being broken up with? Or received one and we'll get the other side of it.
Starting point is 00:38:46 You arces. I know you've written closure letters and you're not picking up your phones. Sick of it. I'm sick of doing this by myself. Well, we've got a lot of checks coming through for people that have written them. But I guess in fairness you don't want to talk about it an embarrassing moment in your life on national radio. Guess not? I get paid to do it.
Starting point is 00:39:02 Somebody said in their letter that they wrote, they said, I wish I'd told you, I loved you. I feel like it would have changed things. Maybe not. Yeah, what's so hard is now on the other side of it because there's so many emotions. Look, when I've read up what therapists say that it's a good idea to do, they say do it, take some time and then reread it after a day.
Starting point is 00:39:23 So you can go back and reflect before sending. Somebody else said, I know we said we should be friends. I said I wanted to be friends. I was like, I don't want to be friends. I think people just say that. They don't actually think you're going to follow up with what are you doing in the weekend if you've just broken up. If you've ever thought of writing them, there's some cautionary tales here. I did just to make myself feel better.
Starting point is 00:39:43 I needed to call her out for her actions of cheating. She never replied to me, which helped me move on faster. I guess if you didn't get the reply, you kind of stuff you then. Yeah. Someone else said, I sent a closure letter, but it was for my closure, not their closure. I got a polite reply, but I don't suggest you do it. It didn't make me feel any better. And this one, I texted him a beautiful essay.
Starting point is 00:40:03 He said back, okay. And then they said I later found out that he shared it amongst his friends on a group chat. So yeah. To be honest, I've seen no positive. Yeah, look, the best thing to do if you really need to do it is maybe just keep it for yourself or burn it. Pagan, you've done a closure letter but not to an X. Yes, I have. It was, I had a dog passed away about five years.
Starting point is 00:40:29 years ago. It was to like a tragic accident so it was hard to process. So what I did was I went to the park that I usually take him to and I wrote a wee letter like as if I was talking to him. Oh, so sweet. Yeah, it was, yeah, it was nice. I still have it now. So you didn't burn it, you just kept it? Just kept it, yeah. And yeah, a few of us in our family ended up writing mine. It kind of affected the whole family. So we all kind of wrote a wheat letter, which was nice. I feel like that's less crazy than writing it to an ex. What writing it to a dog is less crazy. I mean, on paper, yes, it sounds crazy because dogs can't read. But I can see you're putting your thoughts down on a piece of paper, essentially, aren't you? Yeah, okay, well, Michaela isn't answering her phone, but I'm going to read out her text anyway.
Starting point is 00:41:18 Fair enough. She said, I sent a handwritten letter to my ex when I was a teenager, and it was a quote that I found on Google that said, I wish I could throw a rock at your face so you know how much it hurts to miss you. I don't know a broken heart fat like that The Clint Megan Dan podcast The latest episode of our podcast Overthinkers has caused A bit of chat
Starting point is 00:41:37 A bit of discussion on our work group chat over the weekend This is the Overthinkers podcast Yeah we got an amazing message Thank you so much when you send in some things For us to talk about it on our Overthinkers We have a little Instagram page That's called Overthinkers feedback And we got a question of like
Starting point is 00:41:55 What we would take to a Desert Island Sort of the classic question and we got to pick three things each. We went around in a circle. You can go back and listen to it and see that Dan was just... Fumbling. Fumbling. And so incredibly useless.
Starting point is 00:42:09 No, I brought a piece of cloth that could be used. We were just... We're in the clothes we were lined on. The question wasn't that we were naked. Anyway, what ensued is that we kind of realized that we're all a bit stupid and we didn't even bring the main important things. No one brought a lighter.
Starting point is 00:42:24 I can make that with sticks. What? I've seen them on Survivor. When they get the bamboo and they rub it back and forth, back and forth, back and he gets hot. And then you just put them at like a tea and then rub them back and forth. And this is where our boss Jack made a fatal error, because we got a message over the weekend. They read like this. This is wild Clinton Randall.
Starting point is 00:42:43 There is no way. I'll give you $1,000 to a listener if you can make fire with two sticks. Fatal era, Jack, who now joins us in the studio. Who also have said to me multiple times we've got no money. You're actually stuffed yourself. That was the first thing I thought. I was like, this morning I told me we had no money. No, the thing is that we don't, but I'm just not, I'm not concerned about it in the slightest.
Starting point is 00:43:06 Is there a time limit to this challenge that you give up? Yeah, like a day? Okay. Okay, so what you're saying is if we get two sticks into the studio, I can't believe I'm saying this. And for the duration of a show, Clint is hammering away. Trying to make. Robin. No, no, no, I'm not taking it out of a show.
Starting point is 00:43:24 It has to be post-show. Okay. Yeah. You have to do it after the show, and we'll put you on a live stream. Jesus, what an enthralling live stream, that'll be. Do I have permission to leave and go back to my life after a few hours? No, it's just kind of the only person who said he was going to do this. Yeah, great, okay.
Starting point is 00:43:40 Okay, so, I mean, I know people are thinking of getting two sticks and then kind of like twisting them together in their hands. No, no, you'll hear, in the clip I said a piece of bamboo. So I've just, I just need a stick of bamboo. So all I'm going to need is a knife and bamboo. A knife. No, no, no. Two sticks.
Starting point is 00:43:58 No, no, no, no. He said two sticks. No, but Meg already said that she was bringing a machete to the island in this hypothetical. So I've already got a machete in a bit. Your quote was, you said two sticks. I can snap bamboo. I don't worry about that. Good.
Starting point is 00:44:11 He said two sticks, you can make fire. But you also said Lycon Survivor. They give them Flint. Yeah, but I don't need Flint. Because some teams, when they haven't won Flint, have still managed to start fire without it. And I've Boston Rob, shout out. He's the best out. You've also said that you need, like,
Starting point is 00:44:27 coconut husk or something. We don't have that. Jesus. Okay, you may as well give him some fire starters. Well, I don't need coconut husk, but surely a knife just to help me split the bamboo. Nah. Here's the deal, we'll give it to your pre-split. How about that? I'll give you two bits of bamboo.
Starting point is 00:44:44 And I'm being very generous there. But how is the knife supposed to help? I'm not... I just don't want to give you the satisfaction of something extra. Well, then, if you need the knife, if it's not even meant to help, then why do you need it? Well, because I can split in half and then I can create shavings from the bamboo with the knife. You're trying to do something with a knife. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:45:01 So here we go. So we've got texts coming through already saying you've got this Clint. You can do it even with one stick. Someone else has said they teach their kids to do it at school. That sounds dangerous. Oh, Jack Stained the lip. It just does not. Just don't think you can do it. You got to give, okay, just give me the start of a knife and a piece of bamboo. That's an atomic fire.
Starting point is 00:45:20 That's not what you see. You said two sticks. Yes, I know I'm going to make the fire with sticks, but I need the knife to press. the sticks? No. No knife. I was going to say no sticks. No, that's very difficult. Okay, so what we're doing, we're giving a...
Starting point is 00:45:35 I can't even believe we're doing this. There'll be a live stream at some point this week. Clint is going to have two sticks of bamboo, no knife, and he's going to try and make fire. How long are we giving him? The whole day. Yeah, I'll give you the whole day. If you're going to sit there the whole day and try and make fire,
Starting point is 00:45:48 go for him. My God, okay. I'm not paying you, though, while you're here. And Meg and Dan will be there as my friends. I'll be there for a little. You guys can be there for like the first 20 minutes in the morning, Laura from Christchurch. Laura, you think he can do this?
Starting point is 00:46:01 Yes, I do. I totally think he's got this. Yeah, thank you, Laura. Is there a pigeon with you? You're a dove? Oh my gosh, yes. Can you hear it? Yes.
Starting point is 00:46:11 Oh, I have a pigeon that I hand raised from a baby and I just got home, so it just flew down and came and flew onto my arm. I don't trust your judgment, Laura. See, the crazy lady, Laura thinks I can go on there. Oh my God, you couldn't have gotten more crazy. I mean, she's not crazy. What other crazy people think I can do it?
Starting point is 00:46:28 What a roller coaster this has been. The Clint Meg and Dan podcast. The boss has said that he'll give us $1,000 to give away on here if I can make fire with sticks. And producer car has made an intro for it. Oh. One man, two sticks and thousand bucks cash. Could he survive in a while once his plane is crash?
Starting point is 00:46:49 He's a stubborn guy and wants to prove you wrong. It's Clint the flit. Now play the song. Oh, Clint the flute. I have never been. I've never cringed more. I was impressed. What's done, Carl?
Starting point is 00:47:02 It's something. Yeah, something. Now, Brent's joined us on 0-800 of the edge. Clint says that he can make fire with two pieces of bamboo. He's going to try and do it this weekend. I've never done it before, but I've seen people do it. Oh, and Clint is notorious for saying even I could do, even I couldn't do that. He thinks he could do everything as default.
Starting point is 00:47:19 And Brent, you say that you teach your kids at school to do this. Yeah, good. I tell you, you know how to read it's how to do it. But you need a hardwood and a softwood, and usually we use, like, a bow with a bit of string on it, which creates, you put a loop on it, and then that way it allows you to generate it back and forward with speed. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:41 So the hardwood spins on the softwood, which creates chambers. That makes sense to me. That's kind of like what they're doing the hungry games. Well, if I get you some hardwood, Clint. Yeah. Do you want Dan's hardwood? You can give me a knife. I tell you what?
Starting point is 00:47:56 Oh, God. What if he lets me have a knife and I take the time frame from a 24-hour period to make fire to 30 minutes? He's still going no. He's saying no. He's saying no from his death.
Starting point is 00:48:09 Okay, here's the thing. Uh-oh. Here's the thing. I've said, I can make fire with bamboo, and now I'm saying, and a knife. So the boss can either come in here and say, Clint, I believe you can make fire with bamboo and a knife,
Starting point is 00:48:22 or he believes that I can't do it with bamboo and knife, then give me the knife. This is so classic cue. He said this is the challenge. You can't make fire with two sticks of bamboo. And you said, I can with a knife. But now I'm asking him, does he think I can do it with a knife?
Starting point is 00:48:37 Because if he does, well, then redundant. I've never heard of someone arguing about making fire with a knife and a piece of bamboo. It's always two pieces of wood. The thing is, there are so many steps to Clint's brain that he already thought that in the situation, I had a knife brought to me with the island. I mean, there's a lot of people backing you on the text machine
Starting point is 00:48:53 saying, I back Clint. He can do this with speed He's got a lot of experience Anyone who has seen Survivor has seen Some of the great players make fire without Flint You just rub the wood With speed Pretty fast
Starting point is 00:49:05 Yeah I just I don't remember seeing in the history books Like cave me and going I mean we can make this fire But I didn't have a knife They just got it done mate They just got it done Sharp rocks I think
Starting point is 00:49:18 Oh yeah I can use a sharp rock Can he use a sharp rock Goodness sake Honestly Yeah, that's it, yes. I can use a sharp rock. Okay, I'm going to look for a sharp rock after work today. Okay, so we go to sharp rock.
Starting point is 00:49:32 You're welcome. Two beat bits of bamboo. This week at some point we will have fire. Caveman Clint. Radio Awards, 27. Look out, baby. All right, give you to do it at 8 a.m. I just shoot out the back there for half an hour.
Starting point is 00:49:44 You guys look after the show and keep crossing back to me, and I'll let you know what I got smoke. You have to be your full caveman as well. We're putting you in an alloy cloth and everything. Absolutely. What about his bow-top? Oh, that will be tricky. Megan I'll be standing around and going,
Starting point is 00:49:57 Oh, yo, yo, yo, yo, yeah. Breakfast hits harder. What's click Megan 10? All right, well, there are easier ways to make $1,000. Yeah, and that's with easy money. Easy money, all you have to do is name 10 things in 30 seconds. I've done it for so long, and I'm still doubting the rules. So your letter is tea this morning.
Starting point is 00:50:17 It was one last week. Can you do it again? Can I also just say how deeply regret the, oh, yo, yo, oh, yeah. Yeah, we all do, mate. Yeah, we're trying to move on from that quite quickly. I went under the edge. If you want to crack at it, we'll play in 90 seconds. The Clint McGinn-Dan podcast.
Starting point is 00:50:30 Your favourite game on the edge? Just hits. Easy. Maybe. Two past eight. If you had an expensive weekend, let's see if we can get a thousand bucks back into your bank account. 30 seconds on the clock.
Starting point is 00:50:41 Give us 10 answers starting with the letter T. And the cash is yours. Just no repeated answers. I believe this is her first time ever calling the show. Hi, Carly. Hi, good morning. Hi. Morning, Callie?
Starting point is 00:50:54 So I got you out of the woodwork. You're ready to win a thousand bucks. Oh, I'm going to try. Okay, you can do this. You sound great. Okay. If you need to pass, Carly, do it as quick as you can. And if we've got time at the end of the 30 seconds, we'll come back and you can finish it off.
Starting point is 00:51:10 Okay, great. All right. Your letter is T, C, Cahley. Tea. Tea, T, T, T, T, T, here we go. Give me a sport. Tina. A name.
Starting point is 00:51:22 Tina. A job. A body part? A flower. Pass. A board game. A four-letter word. Turn.
Starting point is 00:51:42 Something you can climb? A tramp? A reptile? Time there, Carly. Unfortunately, too many passes. You can't come back from three passes, unfortunately. Job, teacher. Teacher, Tyler, Tedu, artist, a flower.
Starting point is 00:52:00 was a tulip and maybe a board game trivia would pursue Twister Trouble. I thought a tree might have been a sitter for something you could climb, but you can climb a tramp. I guess you can climb a tree, you've got to go up the ladder. Especially if you're small. Yeah, yeah. You're just small you climb anything, really.
Starting point is 00:52:13 Nice, Carly. And you're a full-time cleaner as well. What's your favourite part of cleaning the vacuuming, I'm guessing? Oh, definitely. Leaving the lines in the car. It's the satisfaction at the end of the day, for sure. Good, I love that. All right, Carly, have a great day on the North Shore this morning in Auckland.
Starting point is 00:52:28 Have to have long pile carpet. I would imagine to do that. Yeah, it has to be very plush. Yeah, very expensive house. We spoke about this very briefly last week. We finally got into talk to her Kath who was left at the altar. A little, I think it was a few days before she was meant to get married after a five-year relationship. What would you do in the situation?
Starting point is 00:52:47 Especially when you're not going to get the money back for any of it. Yeah, when it's a destination wedding in Tuscany. I reckon no one's doing what she did. No. No, not many anyway. Clint Meg and Dan. Oh, my gosh. You know, being with your partner for years.
Starting point is 00:53:02 They proposed to you, and so you excitingly plan your wedding in Tuscany of all places. Beautiful. Amazing dreams. And then you find out just pull the wedding, that your husband's actually not going to be there. It's decided, not going to go through with the wedding, because that's exactly what happened to Kath. Well, Kath, thank you so much for Chenny. And to us today. I saw your story on TikTok and was completely enthralled.
Starting point is 00:53:23 Well, we don't even know the backstory of what happened. All I saw was you basically, not celebrating, but in fantastic spirits. for potentially being left at the altar? I wasn't left at the altar. I was left seven days before the altar. It was still really raw, but obviously I couldn't get one penny back from the money that had spent.
Starting point is 00:53:43 So I decided to go and enjoy it for what it was. And because we'd already booked a videographer, a photographer, a content creator, we just thought, okay, well, we'll switch up the content that we'll go into create and we'll make it more fitting to what is happening. Did you have to be, give you a reason as to what, why he left you seven days before the wedding? Not really, to be completely honest.
Starting point is 00:54:05 It was very much a case of I don't think we should be getting married and avoidance of eye contact. So I didn't really get a full in-depth reason, if I'm being completely honest. But my guess that he went on a stagdo the first weekend in July, and our wedding was due to be the 31st of July. after that stagdo he was completely cold with me so just it's not confirmed but I feel like he may have cheated on me on a stagdow can you can you take us back to the moment like where were you what time of the day where he decides to choose that time to say after a five-year relationship he's not going to go through with it but no basically he would never have told me he would have gone through with it it's only that so what had happened was i'd come home from a residential boot camp I'd been there just trying to lose a couple of of final pounds before the wedding.
Starting point is 00:54:58 Yes, you do. And I came home and he was really cold with me. And he just took my bags. He's like, I'm going to bed. I'm really tired. And I was like, what wrong? Is there something up? No, just really cold.
Starting point is 00:55:10 So I was like, something's clearly wrong. But he was up and out for one really early the next day. And then later on when he returned home, which was really late. Like, we were like passing ships. We were both working a lot. We've both got our own business. So when he returned, I was like, I need you to. tell me what's wrong. Like I literally forced him. And I still think had I not have forced him to do that,
Starting point is 00:55:32 he would have just kind of gone through with it. I literally forced him to tell me what wrong. What's going on? He literally just said, I don't think we should get married. Like, I just don't think we should. I don't think we're happy. And I was like, what do you mean it seven days? What is your reaction? Is it anger? Is it distress? I think at first it was distress followed closely by anger. Because it was like, you know, can get these feelings and cold feet and whatever, but like to leave it to seven days before is just, it's too cowardly for me. At what, Kath, did you go, you know what?
Starting point is 00:56:05 He's left me. I'm going to keep the plans and I'm going to have this celebration. Like what point after? How many days? Yeah, how many days are we talking? No, literally immediately. The minute he told me that he didn't want to do it, I was like, right, well, bye then. There was just no possible way.
Starting point is 00:56:25 that I was going to allow for us to, you know, cancel everyone. They've all paid all this money to be there. Speaking of those people, when do they find out? When do the guests find out that he's not coming? This is the most annoying part of everything. He didn't even tell his side of the family. So they all turn up. You have to tell him? What happened?
Starting point is 00:56:47 Yeah, find out how that one goes down next. More from Keff. Clemente G and Dan, I guess everyone's worst nightmare. when you think it's going to be the happiest day of your life, your wedding day, and then you find out that your partner's got cold feet and that they're not going to be there. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:01 A few days before. It's just embarrassing, isn't it, for you especially, because you've invited all these people, you've paid for the wedding. Yep. So many questions from family members. I know. And you're in the most beautiful place in the world, Tuscany.
Starting point is 00:57:15 Romantic. And who goes and tells all the guests and fields all those questions? You're right, the guests would have questions. This is what happened with CAF. The next day after he said this, obviously... Oh, sorry, here he goes. When do the guests find out that he's not coming? This is the most annoying part of everything.
Starting point is 00:57:30 He didn't even tell his side of the family. We have to tell me. So they all turn up. You have to tell him? What happened? The next day after he said this, obviously, I am distraught. I was crying, et cetera, all night. It was terrible.
Starting point is 00:57:43 And then I phoned my mom first thing the next day, and I was like, come round. He doesn't want to get married. She raised around with my sister. And I said straight away, like, we're still doing this. Like we paid him full. We're not getting a penny back. We'll do it with our side of the family and friends.
Starting point is 00:57:57 And we'll just tell his family and friends that they can't come. Because it's too uncomfortable for me. Yes, yes. His family and friends. I don't know whether they would have come or not, but we didn't give them the option for that. I said, I don't think he's told his mom. I said, and his mom needs to tell his everyone else.
Starting point is 00:58:14 He's just his family. He's told his mom. What a coward. Honestly, such a coward. So my mom had to phone his mom and tell her everything. And then everyone was devastated. They were all crying. It was literally me.
Starting point is 00:58:27 So he dropped this bomb on me. And then he got up and went to work and disappeared for three days. He did not get involved in any of like the picking up of the mess. Oh, you dodged a bullet. You dodged a bullet. Was there any other signs pre this in the six and a half years that you were together that he showed his cards in any way? Basically in December previous, so seven months before the wedding.
Starting point is 00:58:51 And I had, again, he didn't come to me with anything. I came to him and said, I feel like we're drifting apart. Like, I feel like, because we've had, I'd say, like, five and a half really good years where we just were so in love. We were so connected. And then we had like a really bad year at work for me and for him. And we were just disconnected. And he didn't support me at all in like just everything that was going on with me.
Starting point is 00:59:17 And I sat him down and I said, look, I really feel like alone. and unsupported. And, like, what's going on? And he was like, oh, you know what? I just feel like the same. Like, I feel like we're a bit unhappy at the moment, blah, blah, blah. And I said, but we're getting married in seven months. Like, this can't do the case.
Starting point is 00:59:36 He just blindsided me, basically. So since then, Kath, obviously you've put it online. You've created this place that, like, a lot of women, you must feel this incredible, like, womanhood and sisterhood that have come in behind you. 84,000 followers. Have you heard from him since? because I feel like that would be the time for him to suddenly be like, well, that's my money too.
Starting point is 00:59:55 True. All of a sudden he's angry that you still had the wedding and you had success from it in a way. I think he's quite a shy person. This would be his idea of hell. So you haven't heard from him at all? Like, when was the last time you spoke? I have, but it's really minimal. It's like, what are you doing posting this online?
Starting point is 01:00:16 And I'm like, well, what are you doing, jilting me seven days before my wedding? Well, you get to keep all the wedding presents, right? You've got probably new juices and breadmakers and all that stuff, right? Yeah. No one brought presents, but people brought cash, which is better. Yeah, exactly. Okay, they love your attitude. That's why I desperately wanted to talk to. I thought, wow, what a person to be able to, as I said, make lemonade from lemons.
Starting point is 01:00:40 Thank you, guys. Thank you. That's really kind. It really helped me. Just everyone messaging me and all the support. It's made me feel so much better. Give her your TikTok or Instagram. I'm hand to a shoutout.
Starting point is 01:00:50 Yes, please. It's Kath J with a K, K-A-H-J-A-Y-A-E-N. Yeah. Now she's single. We drop into her DMs. Yeah, yeah. Thank you, Kat. Find it on an Ozzy man.
Starting point is 01:01:04 Johnny on, oh, nice. Thanks, Kall. We'll keep an eye on for you. See ya. See you, babe. See you, mate. Oh, man. She's loving it, eh?
Starting point is 01:01:13 You can just tell she's enjoying it. Oh, yeah. It sounds to me that not only did she dodge a bullet, but maybe it was that it had run its course. You know, she was blindsided, but also it's only been, it's been about eight days since the wedding happened. Well, the fake winning. Speaking of relationships, I've got something I need to admit to you guys,
Starting point is 01:01:33 say in the nation, next. It involved someone I met online recently, when I say recently, about two years. What do you mean you met somebody online? Well, I'll fill you in next. You guys will know about it. Clint, Megan Dan. Lesh, go. Dan's got a bit of an admission, I think, for the show.
Starting point is 01:01:47 Well, it's not an admission. It's just something that happened to me on the weekend. But I'm going to take you back to two or three years ago, back to 2023, when I spoke about a relationship that I had formed online. What new friend, guys? I met him online playing PlayStation. I feel like we really got a connection. We really, like, started hitting it off.
Starting point is 01:02:05 We're talking about other stuff, and he goes, anyway, I'm back at school next week. Because he sounds like he's in his mid-20s. We're just friends online. Wait, I need to know how young. He's not at primary school. We've talked to him. I've heard his voice.
Starting point is 01:02:21 He's like at seven, I'd say 17, maybe 16 at the early. Anyway. His mother's going to be like, who's this 34-year-old? Like, he's grooming him. Anyway, he asked me how old I was. You didn't lie. Oh, oh, that's even worse. You lied.
Starting point is 01:02:34 You lied. I told him I'm 18. No! Okay, it's not one of my finest moments. I was so far down this rabbit hole. Why'd you lie? Because... Why don't you just say I'm 34?
Starting point is 01:02:47 I don't know. I don't know. Why? Because we were playing Grand Turismo. And I think a couple of times we played Fortnite as well. I was terrible at it. And we've fallen out of touch. We just sort of stopped. I stopped playing PlayStation so we sort of
Starting point is 01:03:00 naturally just fell out of touch. Can I ask you, how do you just make a friend online? How do you find someone? So the game I was mainly playing was Grand Turismo. Yeah. And so we were playing it and you'd pop up on you, so you see when people come up online. And then you can just play like a two-player game,
Starting point is 01:03:17 like a race online. It's harder on Fortnite because there's like forums and stuff, but there's certain games. A lot of racing games you can do it where you have a friend online and you can just meet up online and have races. And who reached out first? He did. Oh, okay, it's a little bit better than. Okay. And so anyway, I haven't like
Starting point is 01:03:32 been online playing much for the last, I'd say 18 months to two years. Isn't it? How old's it? He had a kid. Yeah. And so my brother who lives in Australia, he's just got a PS5. And so I was like, great, this is great. We can play online. This is a good way for
Starting point is 01:03:48 to catch up. So we were playing Grand Tourismo online on the weekend. And all of a sudden, ping. Online comes the, and it pings up on the side of this screen, this person's online. And I recognised his handle. It was my 18-year-old mate, who's probably now 20. And he's like, are you online? Should we have a race? And so then we ended up having another race like old times. Now my brother's involved. So now the three of us were having a race. There was other people evolve were chatting like old times.
Starting point is 01:04:20 Did Simon and your brother say he was in his 30s and then your mate was like, that's a funny little. He didn't lie. I mean, no age is asked. He didn't come on and go, just checking how old you guys. Dan's hoping his terrible mess. Man, I haven't spoken to you in years. I'm like 35 now.
Starting point is 01:04:37 That would have been a good way to design things out and keep it above board. No, we just didn't chat about that. So yeah. So wait, he still thinks he's playing with his 18 year old online friend. But it doesn't matter. It's just...
Starting point is 01:04:48 Then why do you like? What do you like? Well, then why'd you lie? It doesn't matter. I don't know! But we're all having fun, aren't we? Yeah, but then... He doesn't know what I look like.
Starting point is 01:04:58 I don't know what he looks like. We're just great at racing games and we're so well-matched. It's hard to meet someone that's very similar skill level. And so I don't want to lose that. Because my brother sucks. Please, Simon.
Starting point is 01:05:14 You're much, much older brother. You're much, much, much. Oh yeah, no, but tea, caught into this. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, God. Were you going to get caught out in your line, mate? No, I don't know. I don't think I'll go online again.
Starting point is 01:05:24 It's just too risky. I think you need to believe that your relationship is strong enough that it can survive a lie like this. I think you come clean and just hope that it, you know? It doesn't matter how old you are as long as you're great. Then why did you lie? I don't know!
