Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. If this podcast was a person, it would be banned from family gatherings. Oh, piss off, Uncle John. This is the Clint Meg and Dan podcast. Take the edge off your mornings with Clint Megan Dan. It's breakfast. Good morning, bang on 6 o'clock Tuesday. Thank you, Glenn, for the news update.
Starting point is 00:00:20 Although, saw him slipping in his opinion there. Oh, news readers aren't allowed to offer opinion. Did you hear him he goes? Yeah, and unfortunately, no more Commonwealth games. That's a bit sting. And then carried on with this news report. I don't think he used the word stink. Did you say stink?
Starting point is 00:00:34 I didn't hear stink? No, you said that's a bit of a shame, I think. Yeah, I think that's what you did. But I'm like, mate, you just report the facts? Yeah, yeah. You don't see Wendy Petrie on the news, TV and Z news going, ah, not much news today, a bit of a shame. Well, that's why we couldn't be news reporters, I think,
Starting point is 00:00:50 because we would be itching to say our opinion. The whole, half of the bulletin would be what I thought about everything I was to say. Brian Tomickey, do we need him? Yeah. He was having a massive rant online last night, wasn't he? He was that about, I just, I just signed off. He was doing some countdown until 7pm and sounds like some threat to somebody, but I couldn't really decipher it.
Starting point is 00:01:09 But then he was in the spiritual world apparently he was doing that. Yeah, I said that. I know somebody who likes spirits, Clint, vodka. You know, you can go and tackle him in that world. Maybe it was in like the multiverse. He was doing it in the marble multiverse. Yeah, very weird. Yeah, I still don't really understand that even.
Starting point is 00:01:24 Yeah, no, it's a bit above your sort of brain. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. About bars too then, Dan. You just stick to your vodka, Clint. Those are your spirits. Actually, only like vodka if I mix it with Carloa and coffee. Like in an espresso.
Starting point is 00:01:38 Where was it actually a time? It's like a coffee. Clint, Megan Dan. Oh, my gosh. First call of the day. First call of the day. But I've said one, guys, we've got a text from a listener saying, see you guys, I'm out of here.
Starting point is 00:01:52 I'm done. I'm not going to be able to listen to you anymore. And normally we don't, we just say to people, If you want to say goodbye, just leave. You know, you don't need to give us the goodbye. Don't let us know we've lost another one. Morning, Tarns. Good morning, but I'll be back.
Starting point is 00:02:05 I'll be back. Oh, so it's not something that someone said that's offended you. Like Meg, you know, she can say some stuff, can't she? No, absolutely not. I'll be listening to you guys alive again in six weeks. Six weeks. Are you going away? So I can see here you're going away on a holiday.
Starting point is 00:02:20 So you're going to Dubai to stay with Fano. Then you're going to Yorkshire, Scotland, Ireland, Ireland and Singapore. What a trip. I know, so exciting. How long does it take to put together an itinerary and get all your ducks in a row for something like that? I started talking to my friend in Yorkshire about nine months ago we started sort of planning it. You know, we were going to stay, we were going to go, hotels, yeah, all that sort of stuff. And then, of course, staying with my family in Dubai, my sister and her kids and my brother-in-law, which is very exciting.
Starting point is 00:02:56 When do you head to the airport? I will be picked up in an hour and a half. Is you going today? Oh, so exciting. Tanya, send us some photos. We want to live vicariously through you. Yeah, please do. Who's looking after your two cats, 19 chickens and four alpacres?
Starting point is 00:03:14 I luckily co-owned was my son, daughter and grandkids, so they live next door. Yeah. We own the property together. Oh, my gosh, you've a dream. They'll be looking after all the buds. life to be like living next door to your kids and then being able to go and stay in Dubai with your sister and a friend in Scotland. You've done it right.
Starting point is 00:03:34 Yeah, we all want to be tired. Yes, I'm very, very, very lucky. And in the beautiful Karanaki. Oh, stunning. Beautiful. Okay, well, stop making us jealous. And do promise, do you promise, like, while you're away, you're not going to stumble across another podcast and then decide, like, you know, new tans when you get back and you're going to try something different, you're going to come back to us. Oh, absolutely. I've been listening since JJ, Mark and Dom.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Holy? Way, way back. I'm not going anywhere. All right, Tanya. Well, we do a podcast as well if you've ever missed us. Yeah, true. Yeah. Have the best time.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Yep, I've got that on my phone. Nice. Thank you guys. You smash a cocktail or two for me, all right? Have some Yorkshire puddings for me. Oh, that's good. And what's you're going to do for you? Drop it low.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Drop it low. I'd say she could do that when she's an Isle of Man. There's some good clubs there, I've heard. Are there? I don't know. If you are... Don't do it in Dubai. If you are looking to do a tans and be jumping on a plane soon and getting the hell out of here.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Catch up with a free end? Yeah, we're going to tell you how you can do that. Before 7 o'clock, we've got a bit of an update on Long Distance Bestie Island, which is very exciting. But also next, Dan's got an idea that could win you $500. I'm unsure whether he's approved that money with the boss yet. Oh, absolutely not. But what I will tell you. is I'm going to do it anyway.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Clint Megan Dan. Let's go! Clint Megan Dan's scandal. Robert Patterson's wife, Suki Waterhouse, has admitted that she has never seen Twilight. I've never seen it. I haven't. You actually haven't?
Starting point is 00:05:09 No. I will one day, but obviously I'm team... Edward. I was like, wait, I was like, too, I can't get that one. She forget her husband's character name? Yeah, she doesn't do. I'm team. Wait, she's never seen it.
Starting point is 00:05:21 No, I would believe that. Oh, whatever. If she's married to Robert Pattinson, She's seen it. I think she probably married her because she hadn't seen it. He hates that movie. No, I reckon she's trying to be cool. No, but Dan, does your wife listen to the show?
Starting point is 00:05:34 Oh, yeah, she's probably right. Yeah, we go. And Andrew Garfield is at the stage that Clint is desperate to be in. He's got a head of long locks, and he was asked if he's planning on keeping the long hair. Because you've got to get through that halfway stage. You know what? I got through the awkward stage, and now I'm like, I've earned this. I'm going to enjoy it for as long as I can have.
Starting point is 00:05:54 handle it. I thought that was the most clint thing. Good. Like, it's all that halfway said, where you just wear hats and beanie for like nine months? You're lucky when you grow out your hair, it goes down. Mine just goes up like an afro.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Does it really? Yeah, it does. I look like Don King. It goes up and up and up and up. Yeah, it just goes up, up, up, up, up. I ruined my long hair because I used to perm it because I didn't want straight long hair, so I wanted a bit of a wave through it.
Starting point is 00:06:17 And then I decided I wanted to be blonde. And my wife said, you know, bleach, permed hair, it'll fall out. I didn't listen to her. She was right. Look at that. Actually just started like pulling clumps of hair out. Yikes.
Starting point is 00:06:28 Like it wasn't attached to my hair. And yet it grew back. It always comes up Clint, isn't it? Clint, Megan, Dan. StinkyB. How you can score 500 bucks cash. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:37 And it's an idea that I've been touring around in my little brain for a while. And it's based on if you could fool us with a lie. Good, Clint. We hadn't even practiced that. He pulled it in perfectly. That's the mark of a great button pusher.
Starting point is 00:06:55 So you think we're good at sniffing a lie? Or you think people good? Well, I think we are better than we think. And I'm talking about we as in the human race. Oh, right. Hunting out a lie. But what if it was mixed in with two truths? So here's my idea.
Starting point is 00:07:11 So it's two truths than a lie? Well, essentially, but there's a little bit of a difference. Okay. So each week we have three callers on. Three of them are telling a story. Okay. we just don't know which one of them is lying. Okay, so day one, we have one caller.
Starting point is 00:07:29 They tell us the story. Maybe it's Meg Mansel. She comes on, she says, one time I dropped it low and pulled a hip out or something. Okay, we go brilliant story. We asked some questions. How many questions do we get each? I reckon it's question each. Okay, three questions.
Starting point is 00:07:41 Then we move on to the second day. Another caller. They tell us the story. We pin holes in the thing again. Three questions. Three questions. Third day, another story. Then by day four. Thursday.
Starting point is 00:07:54 nation you listening have to figure out who was telling the lie. And so ideally the true stories are like epic where you go that's almost too good to be true or too far-fetched to be true but some incredible things do happen to people. And so if you're listening right now and you're going
Starting point is 00:08:09 I could lie to you guys and fool you. This is the segment for you. Yeah or you've had I guess something do you want to have a truth story? No we're just looking for liars. Well you know you could have we need truths and lies but you could You could enter this and fool us.
Starting point is 00:08:27 But do you only win the money if you lie? Yes, essentially. Do you know who wouldn't be any good at this? That lead singer of Imagine Dragons. You guys practice that one? No, see, this is all off the cuff bag. Yeah, and that's just how... He's trying to colour up his bit.
Starting point is 00:08:45 At least he admitted it. Or is that a cover to his wife? Because maybe he is a really good liar. He's like, I'll release his song to throw her off the scent and say I'm a bad liar. Then she'll never know that I'm cheating on her. True. Yeah, so Carl, I think there is a way that people can enter this, isn't there, Carl? And how do they do it?
Starting point is 00:09:06 Oh, sorry, yeah, there is. So we've actually got a form online where you can go and enter your details. But if you go on to our Instagram story right now, then the link will be there. Yeah, okay, great. So head to our Insta, click the link, and just fill out some details. That's all you need to do, and we'll go from there. And then I think next week we'll get three stories on. And then as a nation, we can become detectives.
Starting point is 00:09:27 sniff out the liar. But just go? Sorry, give me one minute and then text lie to 3-3-4-3. I'll set up a test back down. There's hardaways doing 500 bucks. Yeah, 500 bucks. Have you ever done any concrete contracting?
Starting point is 00:09:39 That's one of them. Tax-free. Yeah, it is tax-free. You won't tax you. It's like living in Switzerland or Monaco. Yeah. Do they none to pay tax? No, because they're so rich.
Starting point is 00:09:50 That's why all the rich people live there because they're like, I'm not paying tax on my money. So they moved to Monaco. Huh? Yeah. Couldn't we take a tire line? and do like a broadcast a show from there?
Starting point is 00:10:01 Clint, you are rich, but not as rich to live in Monaco. You can't even step foot in Monaco. What if we combine and pulled all of our money together? Still couldn't last half an hour. Especially Meg, she's not moving the needle anyway. She drives a vitz, Clint. Norty, 640 next. Clint, Meg and Dan.
Starting point is 00:10:16 Time to get naughty at 640. Oh, look at that, it's Clint. You don't know if. you're doing it right or wrong when it comes to parenting all the time until you've done it wrong and then years later you look back and you go we drop the ball there but I think shouldn't have done that and it's too late yeah and I'm worried that I've done this now with R-rated movies oh dear not like RRRR rated you're like oh so you haven't been showing your kids shaving Ryan's privates no I haven't even seen that goodwill humping shaving Ryan's privates damn and
Starting point is 00:10:54 Throbbing Indiana Jones and the temple of Poon Yes, that's a good one. Yeah, we've all seen that. Titty slickers? No. No, my son is nine, my daughter's just turned 11. And I mentioned this earlier this morning. We all watched people we meet on vacation, which is R13.
Starting point is 00:11:12 And typically my wife and I, we see R13, we go, yeah. Because that's before M, right? Yeah. It's not as bad as Forrest Hump. Put it that way. Although when I look at R13, it says sexual content, drug use, nudity, and brief, strong language. Let me check what's better mature R-13.
Starting point is 00:11:29 Because then we see an M for mature audiences and we go, oh, the drug-use stuff goes over the head. They don't really know. And when there's any sort of kissing or passion, annoyingly, I'll skip. I know I have to skip, or my wife will skip, and so we skip through it. We miss all the good bit, the good kissing bits.
Starting point is 00:11:43 So R-13 is legally restricted. It's against the law to supply sell or show the film to anyone 13 or under illegal Clint. Mature is unrestricted. It's just recommended for mature adult 16 years and over, but anyone can watch it legally. So that's actually the better one to show you a kid. Oh really, even though it is.
Starting point is 00:11:58 But Art 13, legally, you're in trouble. And then the one I know I went too far with, and I wonder if a movie comes to mind when you think back to when you were young and you watch something that you were too young for at the time and you've just never forgotten it. I thought this horror movie, horror thriller, whatever you want to call it,
Starting point is 00:12:16 was a bit more on the funny comedy side. Final Destination, Bloodlines? Oh, that's a really gory movie. It says R-rated for Strait. violent, grisly accidents and language. But it's almost like they, you know they're going to die and death's out to get them,
Starting point is 00:12:34 but there's no monster as such that's going to give kids nightmares. It's just, you know, there's just quirky ways that people die in. A lot of times they're quite funny. I think would scare you because you'd sit there and go, well, what if death thinks it's my time? What if I trip over and there'll all my lands on my face? Yeah, that's actually quite a graphic film. We only got
Starting point is 00:12:50 halfway through it, and then my wife saw that I was letting me and my nine-year-old watch it together and she made us turn it and I got in trouble. Well, they can sky. I remember I went to a sleepover, a 10-year-old sleepover, and they put on the Blair Witch Project for a bunch of 10-year-old girls. And then the mum, I still don't know.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Even as an adult, you know when you look back, you're like, oh, I get it now. But as an adult, I still don't get it. The mum, while we were watching it, went outside, put on a mask and started wrapping on the windows. Great, mum. I love that. 10-year-old girls.
Starting point is 00:13:20 10-year-old. The adults of the other kids, the parents, were furious at her the next. next day and it was a big thing in the community Yeah I totally get that like showing stuff that I mean I'm a little stuff about showing my own kids but then also it's hard to set a precedent now because they'll be like what we're seeing like Cam watch
Starting point is 00:13:38 his friends my daughter and some of the adult themes and the later seasons of friends are a little bit ugh and I'm like I guess it's an opportunity for conversation that's what I'll try and use these shows for but I mean I was watching worse stuff at their age Edward penis hands
Starting point is 00:13:54 bear back mountain I think brokeback's kind of bad enough And you're watching No, it was just slow for me Dan, you know, it was good stuff There's only one scene Clint, Megan Dan Long Distance Bestie Island
Starting point is 00:14:08 Fiji Do you want to come along to Fiji With your long distance Bestie Because we are so excited that we have Had some extended seats available Now that you can get Yeah, only five packages
Starting point is 00:14:25 are still available For you and your bestie to secure only a $500 deposit required per person We'll sort out your spot So we were saying that you could join the wait list And those people have now been told You're sitting on the wait list There are five packages left off
Starting point is 00:14:38 They scooped them up, it's done But if you thought you missed out You may still be able to get your boarding pass And get out of here And mid-late October Be joining us in sunny Fiji And catching up with your bestie For the first time in forever
Starting point is 00:14:51 And sometimes you know There's an excuse You know there's excuses you come up As to why you can't do These sort of things that are good for the soul. You know, that are things that you live, you need to live your life, people.
Starting point is 00:15:02 You need to do things that are good for you, and it's easy to make, I guess, excuses, and that is why I've written a very inspirational speech. Great, to gee you up together. You know, maybe you're sitting on the fence right now. It's right up your bot. You know, oh, I should spend the money elsewhere. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:15:18 And then the other part of your brain's going, oh, but you know what, live a little. It's what life is for living. Hit the jams, Clinton. Every great memory Every great adventure Every story worth telling Started with someone saying
Starting point is 00:15:36 Why not? Imagine if Sir Edmund Hillary had looked at Everest And thought nah too hard We wouldn't have a Kiwi on top of the world Or have him on the $5 note Might not even have a $5 dollar Sure, Clint Imagine if the Wright brothers had said people don't fly
Starting point is 00:15:54 Or if Neil Armstrong had thought The couch is pretty comfortable. The best moments in life happen on the other side of yes. Because years from now, no one's going to be talking about the week they stayed home catching up on emails. They'll be talking about the trip they took. The trip they took to Fiji with their best friend. The trip they took to long distance. Bestie Island
Starting point is 00:16:27 Thank you Aaron just said it's just me or his hook come back Sorry it was a bit hookish You start to talk about the sea In the ocean you get confused Yes yes yes yes yes My whole outlook on life changed when I
Starting point is 00:16:40 I want to say read the book But I didn't I just listen to the author on a podcast Still counts Yeah called Dying with Zero And not only is he talk about trying to die With Zero dollars in your bank Which means you lived your life to the absolute fullest But it talks about
Starting point is 00:16:54 memory dividends. And what Dan has just described there is it's not just an investment financially. There's investment into your friendship and those memories that you look back on that no one can never take away from you. But also we don't want you to cripple yourself financially.
Starting point is 00:17:08 Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course. That would be bad right conscience. So have you got the money? Or maybe, you know what? Even if you don't. And you know you can find it. Yeah, you can find it after you get back. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Honestly, you can text Bestie, right, to 3343 and you can go on there, register. All you need to do is Mick said before, pay 500 bucks for you and your best you so $1,000 total and it locks you in. 2-9 is the total cost and it's your flights or accommodation and your food. Your drinks
Starting point is 00:17:36 as well, which normally is the one that they get you with. But now it's all included, your transfers and stuff. So if you want to join us in October in sunny Fiji and get out of this bloody freezing winter. Because at the end of the year you won't want to be talking about what you didn't do.
Starting point is 00:17:52 Oh, that's hot. Yeah. It's what you did do that makes the difference. Sorry, my inspirational bed ran out. Oh, right. Sorry about that. Your favourite game on the edge? Just hits. Easy money. Here we go, if you can give us 10 answers, inside 30 seconds,
Starting point is 00:18:10 starting with the letter that we give to you. We'll give you a thousand bucks. No repeated answers. Rebecca scored 50 bucks yesterday with easier money with Cal, who does the show after us, and she shows your letter four this morning. I'm going to go where K, because I like that you can use, like, knee
Starting point is 00:18:25 and then you can use like Kellogg's or whatever, you know? There's different things. Hopefully make it easier for them. Kay sounds in the old silent K, where you get the N sound. I think we had Kay recently, didn't we? And the person that did it did fairly well.
Starting point is 00:18:37 So maybe we can repeat that this morning. All right, we're going with Pony this morning. Hey. Pony. Pony. Kiyoda, kiyoda. How'd you get the name Pony? Long story short.
Starting point is 00:18:51 I'm like a horse, but smaller. Okay, yep. We don't need to know more. Well, then wouldn't it just not be anything? If it's like a horse, but... I think it's still bigger than a human. Anyway. All right, we're going with the letter K.
Starting point is 00:19:03 As you heard, Pony, you're ready? I'm ready. Here we go. Good luck. Give me an animal. Gangaroo. Something you wear. Knickers.
Starting point is 00:19:16 A water sport. A language. A union. A chocolate. Something in the house. Knife. A drink. Kermine?
Starting point is 00:19:37 Bath. Ketamint. Boney's had an absolute shocker. You asked him what he wore, and he said, Nick is. So good for you, bro. You do not. Ketamine. You drink ketamine.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Kids, we do not. Kulchia, Kalua. Yeah. Just I would, I just never drink ketamine. And also Kenyan's not a language. But apart of that, I don't want to nitpick anymore. Oh, Elliot, you know, you go down as one of the famous ones. One of the ones we go,
Starting point is 00:20:10 Remember we had Elliot on, Pony? Remember him? God, he was fun. You still laughing in the background. Thanks, Tony. Clint McG and Dan. What made the cheating worse? Because cheating's bad, but there are just some instances
Starting point is 00:20:24 where you go, oh, on top of it all? I mean, like I've always said, if you can get away with it. You've never said that. I'm joking. I'm joking. But you try and get away with it, don't you? And then you get found out.
Starting point is 00:20:36 You're not a huge football fan, so you'd be forgiven if you didn't know their name, Ryan Gig. but he was a massive deal. 963 matches that he played for Manchester United. Okay. Sorry, as to the head sport. No, carry on.
Starting point is 00:20:53 The most Premier League assists ever and the most Premier League titles ever won, 13. Okay, wow. So he's hit some records. He's done some stuff. Yeah, he's been busy off the field as well, it seems. With his brother's wife. Oh!
Starting point is 00:21:11 Yeah, his brother went on a podcast and obviously there's been speculation in the past about it. Maybe like years ago, months ago? And supposedly this goes back to like 2011. It was an eight year long affair. But in the world of podcasting, obviously everyone wants to interview the stars and if they can't get the stars,
Starting point is 00:21:29 they get the brother of the star and this is what Ryan Giggs's brother said happened when he went to a party with his bro and ended up having an argument with his wife. We've got an argument. she drove home and then I later found she slept with him that night she was, she was six months pregnant
Starting point is 00:21:43 Oh my Oh my. So, yeah Or whatever she was, I don't know Wow That must be tough Yeah, it was But, you know, what are you gonna do?
Starting point is 00:21:51 You're gonna ruin your life for it? Wow I would Yeah Oh wow I would So imagine that Imagine if we
Starting point is 00:21:59 If Bevan got interviewed Instead of Clint And then Bevan's like Well you know He slept with Rebecca So that was that So here's the crazy thing is that so bad enough that your wife cheats on you, but you find out it's been happening with your brother.
Starting point is 00:22:14 Then you find it's been him for eight years. And it started when she was six months pregnant with your kid. How would you be... Enough! Who would you be more pissed off with in that situation? Your brother or your wife or partner? Because they're both in the wrong. Yeah, that's an interesting question.
Starting point is 00:22:30 I instantly go get angry at the brother, but I actually think it would be just as angry at the wife, because they're both playing it. Yeah, both aren't great. Which gets more of your anger. Maybe it's your brother. Yeah, I think so too. Bro. I don't know, there's a brocode where you don't date your best mate's ex-girlfriend, let alone your brother's current wife.
Starting point is 00:22:51 I think that's an unwritten rule. Yeah. I think that just goes without saying. But yeah, that would have made the cheating worse as well once evening. Then he goes on the podcast talks about it, so it's common knowledge to everyone. And you're also digging up an old wound as well because it's one of those things that you're speaking on a little bit more publicly. He must be gagging to get it off his chest. he's like, why is nobody interviewing me?
Starting point is 00:23:09 Yeah. They would have been like jumping at the bit to say his piece. So if you've got a story, I mean, if you've ever been cheated on, or maybe you found out like a friend of yours that's always terrible. But what made it even worse?
Starting point is 00:23:22 We're like, man. Because quite often the truth comes out with the cheating, doesn't it? So they were cheating, but then the other massive shock is that they were also doing something else. Yeah, the details around it as they continue to unfold,
Starting point is 00:23:36 just make the cheating so. much worse. What made the cheating worse, it's a story about a footballer whose brother ended up going on a podcast saying that his wife cheated on him with his brother while his wife was pregnant
Starting point is 00:23:51 with their baby. Too many layers. And also a lot of doubt, I imagine from that moment on when it comes to who the baby is if you've got similar looks to your brother. Drew, you'd want a paternity judge. I love doing this though, isn't it delicious? You just hear so much
Starting point is 00:24:07 Tea. Do you know what as well? We don't have TV shows anymore where at the end we find out if they are or aren't the dad. You know, remember those shows like Ricky Lake and Jerry Springer and then they come back after the episode and he is not the father. Well we had an incredible call a couple of weeks ago
Starting point is 00:24:23 while you're away on your cruise Clint, but before that let's go to Bex. Hey Bex. Hey. Oh, the Big X Hale. We're sorry that you have a story for this and that you were cheated on and that something else happened that made it even worse. What happened? So he got her pregnant when I was eight months pregnant
Starting point is 00:24:43 Right so you're pregnant Your partner then is obviously cheating on you He gets his mistress pregnant How long was he seeing this other woman for Well I didn't find out until my baby was over a year old Oh my god He was having the two families thing Oh wow trying to do the juggle and neither of you knew
Starting point is 00:25:04 What an ass No she knew She knew. Oh, she knew about you. They were work colleagues. It's so devastating, also when children get involved because they're born into a mess that they don't even know is coming, like with half siblings and everything. It's still raw, because it sounds, by your voice, it's still quite a raw situation. How long ago we're talking?
Starting point is 00:25:25 Oh, no, not at all. No? No, no, it's not a raw situation. I'm just tired. Yeah. Hey, man for kids. Yeah. Hopefully you've moved on and you're in a better place now because that's horrific.
Starting point is 00:25:36 She might be back with them. You're going to be careful. We've got to be careful. Oh, good God, no. Okay. You couldn't pay me enough. The funny thing is, Bex, we have had people that have got back with them in those similar situations.
Starting point is 00:25:46 In that situation, Bex, is he at least a good dad? He's kind of like a fun uncle, like he's a dad. Yeah, he gets to just do the fun bits rather than actually have the parenting. Yeah. Yeah, there's a lot of dads out there. Exactly. Yep, yep, I can imagine. Thank you, Bex.
Starting point is 00:26:07 Unfortunately, Clint, the story. were about to play for you is worse. Really? Actually, should we just let him have a listen? Honestly, this is the best call you'll hear. No, worst every time. No, it's good. Oh, it's good.
Starting point is 00:26:20 This is a fake name, Sophie. What was your partner doing, or what were they doing while you were in labour? When I was in labour, he was having an interview with my mum. This is perhaps the most shocking thing I've ever heard on this segment. Okay, like, obviously he's a scumbag. Let's take him out of the equation. but your mom having an affair
Starting point is 00:26:40 and she knew you were giving birth and you were pregnant? Yes. Do you still talk to that, B? Yes. No, you don't. Wow, I am dumbfounded. He's a manipulator, he's a narcissist, he's a nasty evil piece of work. And so was your mum.
Starting point is 00:26:55 Yeah. But quite the lover, apparently. Oh my goodness me. Isn't that incredible? Yeah, it turns out I think he got somebody else pregnant as well. Wasn't there somebody else after that? She was like, also he got somebody else. She kept going.
Starting point is 00:27:08 Yeah, it kept going. That's quite a deeply edited version. She still talks to her mom, but yeah, her mom was sleeping with her partner when she was giving birth. Of all the people you think you could trust. Yeah. Yes, I know. Isn't that awful? Your mum?
Starting point is 00:27:20 She forgave her. There must have been other things at play. Maybe her mum's loaded. And she's thinking about the inheritance. I'll just pretend I'm still, you know. And if her mom cares about her enough to give her inheritance if you're sleeping with her daughter's partner while she's in labour. But can you imagine. giving birth. So she's just given birth.
Starting point is 00:27:39 Everything's brand new. You're in the trenches. You've got this newborn baby. And then you find out that not only your partner's cheating on you, but your mother, both of the people that you think need to be as close to you as at that time. That poor woman, eh? Some of us just just lead very normal lives compared to
Starting point is 00:27:55 the others. The Clint Megandandand podcast. Long distance Bessie Island. We can't believe it, but we have been told that there are five spaces left. You can come with us to Fiji with your long distance bestie. This all spurred from the fact that I was missing mine desperately
Starting point is 00:28:12 and I realized how hard it was to get us out of the group, Chad, and actually organise the time to get together. We want to make it an annual thing with this is something that you do with your best friend so you know you've got something to look forward to. Yeah, totally. And so I guess it doesn't matter if it's been I mean sometimes for some people
Starting point is 00:28:28 six months is a long time, three months since you've seen your best friend. Especially if they're your best friend. Like that's a long time to not see them. And then there are others maybe five years through no fold of Rome. Maybe it's a distance thing. They live in Australia. Obviously there are packages
Starting point is 00:28:42 that will get them from Australia to Fiji as well. We can just skip some of this freezing cold weather. We get to the island. I miss my best maid. He lives in New York and it's going to be a much more expensive trip for him to come to Fiji from New York. You're worth it, Dan? Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:28:54 Well, he's rich so he can afford it. He can definitely come if you want to do, but he clearly doesn't. It's a $500 deposit. $2,900 covers, your flights, accommodation, your food, your drinks, your transfers, everything. Okay, so, the three of us thought we could do a bit of a G-up
Starting point is 00:29:09 and we're targeting maybe a slightly different audience. I thought I might target the lads. Of course you did. Who would have guessed it? Lads, listen up. It's time to decide. Oh my eyes are going to roll so far at the back of my head. Are you staying at home or are you joining the ride?
Starting point is 00:29:29 Aren't we sick of hearing? Oh, we definitely should. Enough with the lies and the, yeah, mate, that'd be good. because the best stories, at least the ones that I know, usually start with Stuffit. I'm in, boys, let's effing go. What rhymes? There's towers of cold beers waiting for us on the island.
Starting point is 00:29:49 But who's going to drink him if you stay behind and where's the eye candy at? The girls will complain. Unless you answer the call and get on the plane. It's rhyming still. He's sort of a... I really won't complain to no eye candy. Come home with a Fiji but a singlet.
Starting point is 00:30:05 sunburn. We'll get matching tattoos because, man, we never learn. Or you can stay at home, watching your annual lever crew, getting slammed by the boss for things he didn't even do. You should take that to each other, actually. You can watch all the stories the rest of us put up online saying, looks unreal, boys, while pretending you're fine. So, sack up, lads.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Get your bum on a seat quick. otherwise stay at home if you've got a small oh okay see he's gone back to the rhyming no we have gone very different there but good on you Clint oh that's good I've never heard you rhyme before
Starting point is 00:30:45 and it's um I'll most hope I don't hear it again you're kind of in my territory a little bit there and maybe I'm happy for you that you're giving it a go yeah Meg's the poet on the show Clint yeah it's a her right all right lads bestie if you haven't already done it
Starting point is 00:30:58 to 3343 get the link and just go bugger it man I deserve it we're working like a dog there was a line in there that said Clint said if you're not coming who's going to drink all the beers on the island I think Clint will give it a good bash
Starting point is 00:31:09 Yeah he'll do he'll do his best But I need you help I need you help Yeah Best said at 3343 honestly It'll be a real highlight of the year To the Fiji of New Zealand They say
Starting point is 00:31:22 Yeah Gizbin Oh yeah is that what they say Yeah Yeah Yeah Dan's been putting together Postcode playlist Because every caller wins
Starting point is 00:31:29 R&V tickets If you get on here Friday So Dan's been working on a N Original song for Gisbon. Yeah. And you know what? Gisbon is, I would say, a small town compared to some of the cities
Starting point is 00:31:39 we've done for Postcode Playlist. But a lot of feedback came through yesterday with suggestions of what we can include in the lyrics. Let's get a little bit of a taster as to how the song's coming along from Dan Webby next. The Clint Meggin' Dan podcast. Post Code playlist. From the Tampa Cape Brianger down to the dirty deep south of Bluff,
Starting point is 00:31:56 no town is safe. This is your Postco playlist. Oh, we've been doing it for a while, haven't we, Postco playlist? We haven't done it actually for, I'd say maybe two or three months, where we make an anthem for different towns and cities around New Zealand. The lyrics suggested by you, people that maybe live in the town, or you've been through it, you've driven through it, you've stayed there.
Starting point is 00:32:16 This week we're doing Gisbon, beautiful, sunny Gisbon. I can't believe we haven't done Gisie already. Well, it's a bit of a smaller place, isn't it? Like we usually do the big ones, like Wellington, Hamilton, Hamilton. We've done Christchurch. We've done Christchurch. But you know what? Some of these small towns have just as much interesting things that happened there.
Starting point is 00:32:34 Yeah, and then I guess something as topical is R&V having its last year and Waiolhika State in Gizzy. You thought, right, it only right that we do that. And also, a reminder, every caller wins on Friday. You get on here between 6am and 10 a.m. We'll send you to R&V for the final time in Gizzy for free. So we're halfway through making the song. I'm going into the studio again after the show to finish it up.
Starting point is 00:32:54 But we got some suggestions yesterday on some lyrics. Someone said that it's the Chardonnay capital of the... New Zealand. Lots of chardonnay made in Gisbonne. Shadernay's making a comeback. It is. It used to be like, considered like an old lady wine. Really? Oh yeah, all the youngans are getting into it. Buttery shardin. Natalie called up and said that it's a bit iffy when it rains down in Gisman because the sewer's overflow with poo. Which is not something you really want to know, is it? But that's one of the things that the locals are talking about. Obviously, there's some famous people that have come
Starting point is 00:33:23 from there. Maz Quinn the Surfer and Kitty Takana were the opera singer. Wow. I think she's a dame now. Yes, she is. Great beaches. Obviously, they love their KFC down in Gisbon. In fact, they're the only town in New Zealand with two K-Friars. Really? Two of them, which is the highest amount.
Starting point is 00:33:41 I thought there'd be more. I suppose if you're a city, so if you're a town. It's a town, yeah, city is different. But this is considered a town. And they have great camembert as well. They're from Weimar to cheese. Ooh. So now you're speaking a language.
Starting point is 00:33:56 So you haven't finished it entirely. But we've got a bit of a tease. And this isn't like a duelip a tease. When she releases a new song gives you eight seconds, Dan's giving us a full minute. This is a rough cut. It's not fully produced yet. There's still going to be some, like, little things that have changed. But have a listen.
Starting point is 00:34:11 Most of the North Island is there, Gisbon. For the Chardonnay is burn. When Gisburn, yes, that is burn. Burn. Oh, yeah, very large me. Yeah. Wait for the drop.
Starting point is 00:34:53 It was filthy. Yeah, I did. Really just kind of list. I listed the lyrics. Yeah. But you wait because there's another seven minutes of that to come tomorrow. No, I'm sorry. You know, they are quite long those songs.
Starting point is 00:35:27 Shannon from Gisbon. First thoughts on the teaser, at least. We'll have the full song at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning. You need to change Gisbonne to Gisdbourne. Oh, thank you. Oh, Jesus. that's going to actually take quite a bit. Is it going to offend you a lot if I just keep it as Gisbon?
Starting point is 00:35:46 No, but if you really think about it, does everyone walk around going Gisbon? Gisbon. Apparently I do. So it's Gisborn. So a full re-record request from Shannon. Fair enough, bro. If you're going to do it, mate, do it right, eh?
Starting point is 00:36:00 Good on you, Dan. No, I've never heard anyone go. I'm going to Gizborn for R&V. But hey, look, if the locals are getting pissed off, I'll do it. Okay, 8 a.m tomorrow morning. Post-Go playlist, Gizzy is going to get the, we'll get the full song, all produced tomorrow morning. Clint, Meg and Dan.
Starting point is 00:36:19 Oh, my gosh. One of my wife's friends is, what's the piecey word for it? A bit of a scumbag. Oh, bloody hell. Bit of a cheap ass. Okay, it's very different. Scumbag and cheap ass are two different things. You know, one of those people that you're like,
Starting point is 00:36:35 I'm sure you can afford better stuff than what you've got. They're just a bit of a cheapo. Oh, yeah. Frugal. But it depends. I guess sometimes you think they should be spending their money on a new car, but they're not a car person. They spend their money on experiences.
Starting point is 00:36:48 But they don't. I think she does a bit of travel maybe, and that's what she likes to spend her money on. Good on her. But she's been rocking for as long as I've known her, so as long as Hannah and I have been together, an iPhone 6. Oh, she's like me. She's like, if it's not broke, don't fix that.
Starting point is 00:37:02 So to paint the picture if you're not an iPhone person, we're currently on the iPhone 17. They come out every year. So that's at least what, 11 years she's had that phone. That is a good innings. So she got it new and she says never upgraded I didn't even Don't they get so old that they stop updating
Starting point is 00:37:16 With the latest software? Yeah that's what I said to Hannah I was like surely that's like defunct now Like it won't take any more updates But she still she was still rocking it Until about two weeks ago When the phone broke finally Surprise surprise surprise
Starting point is 00:37:26 And instead of going to Two degrees or one of those shops And buying a brand new phone She's gone back To the phone she had Before the iPhone 6 It's like this Motorola eraser thing that's like not you can't even take photos with it
Starting point is 00:37:42 it's like a flip phone and it's like your classic texting where you hit the numbers like multiple times I love that from her I think that's so cool and I feel like if I didn't have this job I'd quite like that life where you knew your phone is just a phone and it was funny because when she came over the other day it was like she had come from the past because we're all handing the phone around being like
Starting point is 00:38:00 oh my God we used to have this it's like nostalgia I was like playing the ringtones from it like polyphonic ringtones it was amazing and she swears by it because she's like there's no internet net on it. There's no Facebook. There's no Instagram. It's just used for texting
Starting point is 00:38:14 and phone calls and she swears by it. Even though it's not as helpful when you're, I don't know, traveling and you want to ask JetGBT where the best places to eat and then you jump on your GPS and find out how to actually get there. There is something in the nostalgia of it and the excitement of going back in time
Starting point is 00:38:29 because I think it takes you back to remembering so many other things where you go, I remember the time was different. I love to bring back maybe a maybe an audio version of the Gen Z quiz. Oh God, that's a throwback, Glenn. Yeah, we'll play you some millennial sounds.
Starting point is 00:38:46 And if you are a Gen Z, which I think is 14 to 29, it's like 1997 to 2012. Those are the years he had to have been born. So you can ring up and play and see if you know these sounds? Yeah. So I'll give you a little practice one now. Okay. Oh, that's one of those things.
Starting point is 00:39:05 I don't know what they're called, but those things where you turn them. Yeah. Dad does a goodie. Meg? Oh, that's good. You didn't put any gusto into that whatsoever. Isn't it funny that ours are higher than Meg's and she's the girl?
Starting point is 00:39:26 That says more about you than Meg. Okay. If you are Gen Z age between 14 and 29, give us a call. We're going to play some millennial sounds and see how many you can get out of the six that I've got. Let's not go too far back like into your youth. Clint, because we don't hear, like, chalk on slate or something. It would just be, yeah, rock moving first time. We're all millennials, thank you.
Starting point is 00:39:44 That's a horse and cart. Clint, Megan Dan. Lesh school. Dan's mates rockin, an old school flip phone. The nostalgia of it got the whole table all excited. Yeah, we're all looking at it like it was something from the past. Like they brought in the flux capacitor or something, but it was a Motorola razor. So it would be good to get a Gen Z on, and let's play them some millennial sounds and see how many they recognize.
Starting point is 00:40:05 Jasmine is game this morning. Hey, Jasmine. Hi, how's it going? Jasmine, do you even know what a Motorola razor is? I can't say I do. I would assume, okay. How old are you, Jazz? 22.
Starting point is 00:40:21 Okay, yeah. Jay, well and truly. Let's see how you go. Okay, the first millennial sound that you need to guess is she'll never get it. Like a train? Chatternangs. They were the greatest gift
Starting point is 00:40:40 one certain Christmas that every kid got and then every parent regret it. The best 25 bucks you could ever spend. It was amazing. You know what? There's still a thing. I have mine still, I believe. Yeah, my brother's got one.
Starting point is 00:40:50 I saw one at the warehouse the other day, 25 bucks. They're still the same price, and you can still get them. They look a little bit different. I was bad to say they don't make them like they used to, I bet. Flimsy. Okay, jazz, millennial sound too.
Starting point is 00:41:10 Oh, they just gave to shipments down so many people's backs. Maybe like, I don't know, some movie player turning on. Probably like that. It's PlayStation 1. PS1. Oh, the moments that. Oh, I've never been a gamer.
Starting point is 00:41:24 Usually then that sound was followed by Crash Bander Coot. Yeah. Oh, how good. Okay. What's this sound, Jess? Oh, I actually do know this one. It's an internet dialect. Yay.
Starting point is 00:41:39 How would you know that, Jasmine? Only because I've used it for a work video one time. I had to search up what it was. Okay. Okay, all right. What is this song advertising? Yep. Come with me.
Starting point is 00:41:54 We will learn to touch the blue sky with grey and bow. All the colors that we fly. We can be much closer together. Holden one. Four lads, beautiful voices. No? Something very like, I don't know. Calm.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Like a stereo, I don't know. No, rainbow's ends. That's where you're fine. They still use this in some ads. I've seen it recently. Yeah, okay, so no points there. Let's give you one more. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:29 Sevent we get two on the board. What is this millennial sound? They're like before the movie. Like, you didn't see a car. Pirating is theft. I always said that stealing a car is much, much worse than just rip in a DVD. Yep. All right, you hold there, jazz.
Starting point is 00:42:52 We'll grab something for you. Thanks. Sorry, Meg, stop. Yeah. Sorry, I'm just doing handsets. It's the noise they make. All right, it's bang on 8 o'clock. Easy money.
Starting point is 00:43:06 The letter is Z. Can't be too many answers to start with Z. Glenn, it's so easy. All right, come on. It's so easy. If you think you can get the job done, 10 answers and 30 seconds, call us now. Oh, 800 at the edge.
Starting point is 00:43:17 We will give you a crack at it in 90 seconds. Clint Meg and Dan. Stinky B. Your favorite game on the edge just hits. Easy. Maybe. Well, thanks to our mates in Novice Glass. Novice Glass have local branches nationwide.
Starting point is 00:43:32 They'll even handle your insurance claim. Well, they ain't. Yeah, how good, eh? One-stop shop, in it. All right, the letter's already be chosen. It is Z or Z, and you need to give us 10 answers, starting with Zed in 30 seconds with no repeated answers. And then our boss puts $1,000 in your bank account.
Starting point is 00:43:47 Oh, this one's going to be fast. I'm nervous. Okay, Hannah is a first-time caller. Hey! Get in, Hannah. First-time caller. Morning, Han. Good to have, yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:01 Good morning. You called it a good time because I think this is the best chance of winning the $1,000 we're had. I'm actually sweating here. Here we go. I'm going to sit. I'm going to sit. Okay. Now, Hannah, your time will start at the end of Meg asking you your first question.
Starting point is 00:44:18 Okay. Okay. You can pass, but you can't have any repeat answers. Yeah, and if we've got time, we'll come back. Your letter is Z. Z for zebra. Could be one of the answers. I don't care.
Starting point is 00:44:30 Here we go. We need a winner. Here we go. You ready, Hannah? Yeah. Best of luck, darling. Here we go. Give me a petrol station.
Starting point is 00:44:41 An animal. A vegetable. A vegetable. A zucchini. A boy's name. Zane. A girl's name. Zara.
Starting point is 00:44:52 A singer. Zara. Zendaya? A country. A country. Zambia. Activity you do with your family. Zip swinging.
Starting point is 00:45:11 A movie. Oh, that was eight. We spent so long on Ziputlanding. We only had two more. And I'd pay Zendah. She's a singer before she acted. Yeah, she's the singer. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:22 Oh, Hannah. I'm so sorry. Yeah, that was eight in a row. And you didn't pass it and you just needed to be quicker with the ones that you struggled on. Sorry about that. that Hannah. You could feel how yeah, how close it was.
Starting point is 00:45:34 I put you, maybe a bit of a bad phone line as well because we started off a little rocky between the first and second one. Hey, getting closer. Getting closer. I mean, the last two questions were a movie. Zootopia, Zoolander. And a fashion brand, which I would have struggled with if I'm honest.
Starting point is 00:45:52 Zara. I would have gone Zara, but you had the name Zara. She'd already use Zara for a girl's name. And then Zara lastin, so that was the only part that I'm on Okay, okay. Backing in tomorrow, seven o'clock and eight o'clock, your chance to play for a thousand bucks. Long distance, Bestie Island, there are, well, as of five o'clock this morning, there were five packages still available. That may have changed after Dan and I gave the country a bit of a G-up. Yeah, my turn. Meg's turn. To try and hook you. Clint, Megan, Dan.
Starting point is 00:46:18 Long-distance bestie island. Fiji! Flights accommodation, food, drinks, travel. It's all included in the $2,900. We've got five packages remaining before everyone's locked in their boarding pass and we're out of here to avoid some of this freezing cold winter and get into sunny Fiji late October. Just get out of the group chat. You and your best to keep saying we need to catch up.
Starting point is 00:46:42 We need to catch up. We've done it all for you. Yeah. We've all been given the challenge to hype it up, make it sound as big as possible. Clint's trying to get the lads there. I mean, not that it needs to be hyped up in any way. I think that hyping has done itself. Just to get you're excited.
Starting point is 00:46:57 Yeah, we spoke to Tanya this morning. She's off on a six-week trip around Dubai and Scotland and Ireland. We're like, when you leave, and she's like, I'm off in an hour and a half to the airport. How nice would that be? It could be you in October, coming with us. Don't get to October and then be like, oh, damn, I wish I'd done that. Okay. Okay, so Meg, I'm going to change tact here.
Starting point is 00:47:16 Yeah, here we go. And she's all yours. You zip up your suitcase, walk out the front door. And for the first time since you can remember, nobody is asking you where their shoes are. For no lunches to pack, no emails to answer, it's just you. So you order that airport wine without checking the time. Put your phone into aeroplane mode. Smile to yourself as the plane starts to take off.
Starting point is 00:47:40 You're actually doing this. The plane doors open, warm Fiji, air, palm trees. And then you see her. Your best friend, the one that you've missed through birthdays, babies, jobs and life, you both run into a hug because years apart disappear in a second. This music's wrong. Okay. Can we start?
Starting point is 00:47:58 Yeah, it's built funny, hasn't it? Jesus, okay. Yeah, absolutely. Let's not start again. No, we're not going to start again. Okay, yeah, because I was really in it. I was deep in the zone there. I felt like we'll go into like an edium sort of.
Starting point is 00:48:08 Can we come out of the plane again? Okay, we're coming out of the plan. Here we go. The plane doors open. Warm Fiji ear. Palm trees and then you see her, your best friend, the one that you've missed through birthdays, babies, jobs and life. You both run into a hug because years apart disappear in a second.
Starting point is 00:48:25 Cocktails arrive. The conversation never stops. Sunset dinners, the sunsets turn into dinners, dinners turn into late night laughs, and you remember who you are when you're together. No rushing, no mental load, no clock watching, just four days with a person who knows you better than almost anyone. And somewhere between that first swim and your last sunset with your best friend, you say the same thing.
Starting point is 00:48:50 Why didn't we do this sooner? Oh, you got me. I'm all in. I've never got back from a holiday and gone, I wish I hadn't done that. Never. Oh yeah, that one where we got influenza B and my wife got pneumonia.
Starting point is 00:49:05 Yeah, that wasn't. That one sucked. Yeah, that one sucked. But luckily there's no such thing as influenza B in Fiji. Yeah. I think there is. There is, and we can't say that legally, I don't think. But if you want to come along,
Starting point is 00:49:17 you want to have that moment with your best friend, you want to switch off and just four days, just have you and them and they know you better than anyone else. You make those new memories, those become the stories that you talk about, the next time you see each other, text Bestie 3-34-3. Don't be watching Owen's stories going, oh! Why didn't we do it?
Starting point is 00:49:33 Yeah. Just remember there's only five more packages left, so get involved quickly because they'll go quick. Convince them. You won't regret it once you're there. Yeah, 100% Bestie to 3-343. That's a good G-out, Meg. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:49:44 Now, I want to go, and I'm already going. I'm literally sitting here right now fully jeered up. Yes. Oh. I might leave the room for a minute. I need to go for a walk. Actually, I might stay sitting for a minute. Me and me if you go for a walk.
Starting point is 00:50:00 Clint, Meg and Dan. All right, three celebrities, we argue back and forth about whether they deserve to be in the A-Lis, B-List or C-Lis once a week. Yeah, this gets contentious, it gets argumentative. One time, Clint Rownhouse kicked me to the back of the head because he was so angry. No effect, though. It didn't even, Dan didn't even...
Starting point is 00:50:21 No, I stopped him. Big Dome. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. All right, the three names I have for you this morning. Morning, Robert Patterson, David Beckham, Chris Jenner. Okay, so Robert Patterson or Robert Pattinson? Oh, I thought, it was the Twilight. Yeah, Twilight Pattinson.
Starting point is 00:50:40 Is it Patton? Yeah. Oh, no, the fact that you're saying is the last thing wrong, suggests that he can't even see a name. Yeah, I would argue, because Meg knows everyone if she can't get his name right. Everyone knows they get everything wrong, though. Okay. Oh, yeah, it is Patenton. So Pattinson, I would put, he, look, he is very famous.
Starting point is 00:50:57 But I just don't think he's maybe A-list. Oh, definitely not. I'm thinking B or C. He's definitely not C-Less. When you hear the name Robert Pattinson, I think most people would be like, oh, which guy, and you'd need to show them a photo. No. Oh, that dude. So Twilight, Batman, the Odyssey, the drama, Mickey 17, Batman.
Starting point is 00:51:13 He's not C-List. I think he's B-list and I think he's quite a strong B, but he's not A. I would say he's a, it's hard, he's a modern-day A to me. He's the most, like, actor of actors at the moment. I think this is never happened. I think he's a weak B or a strong C. Wow. Okay, then we can go on to David Beckham.
Starting point is 00:51:33 A all day. I think because, again, he is at the status of great when it comes to sport. Like he's one of the greats of football. But he also was dating and married to a spy school at the absolute peak of their fame. And they were like the biggest celebrity couple in the world at the time when paparazzi was rife. And if you say the name Beckham, you know it's football. and for that reason I would put him in A. I'd be hard-pressed to put David Beck him in if anyone argued he was a B.
Starting point is 00:52:02 Everybody would know at least his name. Okay, the last one is Chris Jenner. Now, as a name alone. Now, here's the thing with Chris Jenner. That's the mum of the Kardashians, maybe. Yeah, so she doesn't have the Kardashian name. Because I have to context her for people, it's probably because I don't think she's an A.
Starting point is 00:52:23 I don't think she's a B either. I reckon she's C. I reckon Chris Jenna is a C-lister because you know there'll be a lot of older folk out there that don't know who the hell she is. Okay, so we're... So far, so far it's not looked in. Christiana is the C.
Starting point is 00:52:39 David Beckham is an A and Robert Patterson is a B. If you think that is wrong, please call us 0-800 the edge, please text us 3-343. I'm going to start calating votes. See, Stacey agrees with me. Robert is a B, David A all day and Christiana C and she deserves it.
Starting point is 00:52:54 Why didn't Chris take the Kardashian name? When all of the girls had the Kardashian name and they were all like, why didn't she take it? I think she wanted her own name. But also she split up with Robert Kardashian many years ago. So maybe she did have Kardashian and then changed it back just they split up.
Starting point is 00:53:12 I don't know if she was going to go back because then she married Caitlin. Yeah, which is confusing, but now Caitlin used to be a man. Bruce. Bruce. That's right. So why she kept his name? I don't.
Starting point is 00:53:24 He's now a woman. Her name. A model, high hope's 3,000 on the edge, Clint McGinder. I picture this playing in like a Canadian bar, and the stalls up near the bar of saddles. I love it. I love that song. It's such a, like, positive, happy, dancing around the, like a club.
Starting point is 00:53:45 You're right. Well, you would be happy if you're dating Dakota Johnson. Oh, yeah. Is he? Lucky guy. Oh, it's all coming up, role model, isn't it? Yes, he's doing very well. Good on him.
Starting point is 00:53:58 We haven't discussed either of those, actually, role model or Dakota Johnson in the A list. next week. The model's still not famous enough. I think he'd probably still be a sea, unfortunately. Well, today we are discussing Robert Pattinson, who is in Harry Potter, Twilight, Dune, Batman, some of the biggest movies all the time.
Starting point is 00:54:15 Who are he playing Harry Potter? Centric Diggery. Yes. He was of quite a small part in it. He dies. He's one of the first deaths, spoiler alert. But yeah, he's a small but good part. So we put him at a B collectively.
Starting point is 00:54:28 Collectively, we don't normally agree. I don't agree. I think he should be an A, but I am outvoted by you both. Then we have David Beckham, who collectively we've said, is an A. And I think he's probably the only safe one that people are agreeing with us on. I think David Beacon, where we can safely say he is an A. Shai lock him in, actually. Wait, Shalding disagrees. Oh, oh, oh.
Starting point is 00:54:49 First time caller as well, by the way. So this got her out of the woodwork. First time caller. I just came to say hello. Morning, Shalene. You disagree about Dave? Yeah, I disagree. Yeah, I do. He's never heard of him. Who?
Starting point is 00:55:03 David Beck. You have heard of David. I have heard of him. I just don't think he's that same. Yeah, but what do you think about Robert Panison? I mean, that's Team Edward. How can he not be famous? No, Charlene's my girlfriend.
Starting point is 00:55:18 Robert Patterson is more famous than David Beck. You're a cook, Charlene. You need to get more sleep, babe. I don't know. I kind of agree with her. Okay, Charlene, I put the vote down. Thank you so much for calling. I hope you call back.
Starting point is 00:55:28 Karen. Good morning. Morning. Morning, Karen. So you agree with our levels of putting these people at A, B and C. So David Beckham, you think he is an A? Absolutely. Football family here, A all day.
Starting point is 00:55:42 Okay. Robert Pattinson, you put him at a B? Never watched a movie with him in at all, and definitely a B. Okay. I've never watched Harry Potter or Twilight? Neither. And so that means... No, but then I'm old, so, you know.
Starting point is 00:55:56 No, I'm not. And so that means that you are putting Chris Jenna at a C. Yep, as soon as me said Christina, I was like, C, C, C, C. God, you and I are cut from the same gym, Karen. Wow, you are very similar. Absolutely. Okay, okay, I'm going down through the text because we're getting more text and phone calls this morning. I have collated the numbers.
Starting point is 00:56:17 Oh, yes. Dylan says Twilight Guy as a B. She's not even using his name. Yeah, I don't think he's an A-lister. We're locking it in the final telly. Okay. David Beckham. Oh, that's a lot.
Starting point is 00:56:28 Are we doing drum rolls all three? I don't think we need to. We don't have this. We need a shorter one. A. Robert Pattinson. Robert Pattinson. It's the longest drum probably.
Starting point is 00:56:41 B. Yeah. And finally, Chris Jenner. The mother of the Kardashians. A. Jokes, C. See list. Look at that.
Starting point is 00:56:52 We got her A, B and a C today. Wow. So she's in there with Whoopi Goldberg? Oh, let's see who else. Yeah, she's with Whoopi, Lisa Kudrow, Jeremy Clarkson. That's a shocker. How do we get Jeremy Clarkson in the C list? Zoe Kravitz, Christiana and Pharrell Williams
Starting point is 00:57:08 My group That's so sad I'd love to be a flower on the wall In the conversation in there She would be gutted Chris would be pissed Because Whoopi Goldberg is a very famous feminist Jeremy Clarkson
Starting point is 00:57:18 Quite a chauvinist And then you know a few of them We're going to just get really booze And go What more do I have to do to get in Beingless is ridiculous I've been in the industry for 40 years Poor Lisa
Starting point is 00:57:29 Why are they talking like that They're not just drunk Yeah Damn Emily says this list today, perfect. 10 out of 10. No, no. Didn't piss anyone off. That's wonderful.
Starting point is 00:57:40 Clint, Megan, Dan. How fast is too fast when you move on from a partner? Look, this is actually an incredibly sad story, and I think this woman's amazing to have come forward and spoken out about something that we hope. I hope none of us will ever have to experience and try and figure out what we would do in her situation. Well, we will, because one of our partners will die before us.
Starting point is 00:57:58 Like, let's not kid it. Let's not beat around the bush. True, but hopefully not at a young. age that we are now. Yeah, like it's highly you dying or your partner's dying. Because I think you're right, if you're in your 80s and your partner dies, you probably go, hey, I've done it. I'm happy to just finish out the rest of my life on my own.
Starting point is 00:58:14 But if you're in your 30s, you've got a lot of life still to live. Yeah, so this influencer Shay has shown her life about her and her husband, Tanner, who passed away over, I believe, five or six years from colorectal cancer. So it was a very slow, sad death. Oh, that's a long battle. Yeah, it is a long battle. and just before he passed away, they actually had a baby together, Amy Lou.
Starting point is 00:58:37 And she has just come out now to say, within the year of his passing, she has remarried somebody else. One of the greatest hopes Tanner had was that I would find someone who would love Amy Lou as his own and honor the life that Tanner and I built together. I am incredibly grateful to say that I found that person. See, here's the funny thing.
Starting point is 00:59:00 The internet just sees that she's moved on after her partner's done. And they don't get all the details, because you're right, it would make sense that if you were dying, you would say to your partner, I want you to move on, I want you to be happy, I want you to live your life,
Starting point is 00:59:12 I want you to find somebody. Somebody can help you raise our child together. I don't want you doing it on your own. And she said, and she was saying, like, throughout those five years, I openly said I never find love again, I'm done.
Starting point is 00:59:22 And then at some point, she said that change because love doesn't raise love. And she says, moving forward is not the same as moving on, and that her new husband very much so respects Tanner, talks about Tanner and loves that baby. Good, rather than removing any sort of evidence that he was ever living there.
Starting point is 00:59:39 It sits at the grave with him and so on. If I was Tanner, I'd be haunting the shit out of them. Oh, Dan. No, here's the thing. Now, here's the thing. I actually think you should. If you find someone and you've got kids in the question and all that sort of thing, it's trickier.
Starting point is 00:59:53 But it's the marriage for me that's too quick. Getting married a year after the love of your life, is what she said, died, too quick. Just give it some time. Get together with someone else fine. But to the loved ones and the friends of Tanner that were there when he died a year ago, 12 months ago,
Starting point is 01:00:15 and now you've not just got together with someone else, married them, that's too quick. So how long from death till marriage? Well, married within the year. So we're talking about like engagement, everything, like remarried within the year and meeting this person dating, proposing, being engaged, married.
Starting point is 01:00:33 Six months would probably be how long it takes to do a wedding properly, like to organise it. So lots of comments after it. Some people were saying remarried after only a year is insane while remarried already. People saying I follow because I resonate with you but I cannot anymore because you're introducing a baby into somebody that you hardly know in their life. Wait, no, but that hardly know. How do we know that the person she's now married to wasn't in her circle of friends? I don't believe they were. She's an influencer. She hasn't said I've known for ages. Unless she left out that detail, she just said that I found love.
Starting point is 01:01:03 Right, okay. I think it is disrespectful to the partner that she had that she's moved on a year after. Like, moving on fine, like dating and stuff, I kind of get that, but marrying is crazy. Isn't it hard to speak on if you
Starting point is 01:01:19 have never had a partner that slowly died over five years? Exactly what she's saying. She's like, I'd hope that you try and understand what widowers and widows go through. Other people are saying, I'm happy for you. I know some people have mixed feelings or questioning, but I wanted to share their anticipatory grief is very real when you know your partner is passing away over years.
Starting point is 01:01:36 But did you need to get married? I don't think you needed to get married. Like get together with the person, support you through it. Fine, support your kids, but don't get married. That's disrespectful and I think quite sick. Should we talk about the fastest time to move on, whether it be from a breakup or death? Yeah, it just has to be a death or anything.
Starting point is 01:01:52 You can give us the circumstances, and then just the fastest people to move on and see if we can find New Zealand. quickest person to just get back on the horse. I won't be as mean as I was to hear. Unless you want us to be. Unless it's about your ex. Clint Meg was just telling us about a woman
Starting point is 01:02:08 who's partner died of cancer over five years. And she has remarried within the year and the internet is not happy. The internet is torn. Yeah, definitely. There are definitely people that are going, that is, I cannot get my head around being remarried within a year of your partner passing
Starting point is 01:02:25 when you had a baby. The baby is, I think, nearly a year old. like a baby baby and other people are saying I'm glad I don't have to know what this experience is and I can only hope that you're doing the best for yourself and you know your relationship with your ex-husband I think it's fine to get into a relationship you know a year after but to get married is disrespectful to everybody that knew your ex-partner we want to talk to somebody who's moved on maybe in your eyes a little too quickly maybe people didn't agree with how quickly you moved on or it was your partner
Starting point is 01:02:53 uh Sam's called up this morning hey Sam have a thought Good, Sammy. Your phone's a bit iffy, but so your grandma passed away. Did, yes. Okay. So, yeah, she passed away. She had cancer. And then within, so it was a day before her one-year anniversary and her husband had engaged to another woman. Okay. Now, how old were they?
Starting point is 01:03:21 Is this like a young grandma, like 60s, 70s or is this like 90s? No. So grandma was in her mid-70s. Oh, that's young. He was, I think he's slightly, he's not my granddad. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She's had three years younger than her. Was your granddad, like, and grandma, like, were they one of those older couples, though, that, like, are sort of sick of each other?
Starting point is 01:03:45 You know, they're always bickering, like, or they love of life. Absolutely. Yeah, no, but either bickering. Oh, wow. So, yeah. But also, I get it. He was already out of the marriage a bit. If you're 75, I mean, I don't know, but I imagine life was a lot.
Starting point is 01:03:59 on fast forward. You're doing everything quicker because you're running out of time. You don't have five years today. Exactly. Yeah, you've got your time's running out. I sort of get it more when they're old. We have Cedric here. Cedric is texting and I'm super interested. Thank you for talking to us Cedric.
Starting point is 01:04:15 Look, this is what you text. Met my now wife three months after my wife of 34 years passed. Can you give us more details? Yeah, so we came out of COVID lockdown. My wife was sore during COVID lockdown. We found out that she had liver cancer and she got three months to live.
Starting point is 01:04:34 Oh my goodness. So sorry. We've got to be unbelievable news to receive. We had a lot of plans. You know, we're getting to the end of our working career. We had plans to travel around New Zealand and a camper and do different stuff. So you'd never know, I guess it's the biggest thing. You never know how much time you got left.
Starting point is 01:04:55 So every day becomes important. and in those three months I had time to chat with her life and she's like you'll find another you know you'll get married again and everything else and I was like no you know 34 years I've had it that's enough
Starting point is 01:05:08 yeah for sure but yeah through weird circumstances I met this lady my daughter who had had a baby who was in Waikeada hospital and this lady brought a polisher unit off her
Starting point is 01:05:22 her husband didn't use so she asked me to go around and give it to this lady in the drive she would give me some money. That was great. Met this lady and found out that her husband of 10 years passed 12 months earlier of cancer. Wow. She nursed her husband for over 10 months with five kids.
Starting point is 01:05:42 So pretty strong woman. Wow. And she had a business that she'd started up out of COVID, a lawnmone business and a cleaning business. I've been in the corporate world, so I wanted to come out of the. that for a number of months and just find out who I was and take a breath. And so she struggled to do the accounting side of the business. So I became a, I don't know, I wasn't a partner. I just became a person that had time on my hand to do accounts.
Starting point is 01:06:13 And I'm guessing you became close and got together. So after your wife passed then, how long was it that you started dating this person officially? So I met her about two and a half months after my wife passed. I then helped her at her business for about five weeks, and then we got engaged. Wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. And so obviously you guys have a lot in common with how you guys have lost your soulmates, even though you guys are ready to move on and you're finding probably a lot of support in each other.
Starting point is 01:06:49 What do the rest of the family think of it? I mean, you're talking three. My two children in Hamilton, they saw the relationship. they saw the fact that it was true love there was nothing else in it and there's a bigger factor as well that the children had to understand that my wife now is 20 years younger than me
Starting point is 01:07:09 so her first husband was about 18 years older than her so yeah okay so why Sandra just to ask a question because this is the question everyone has online with this first scenario that we're talking about and now yours why marriage why not just
Starting point is 01:07:27 date for a couple years and then get married later? Like, why rush into the engagement? What's that about? So, tell me what the difference is, apart from a piece of paper of living together and being married. But that's the same the other way around, too. Like, what's the difference in not getting married if
Starting point is 01:07:43 it's just a piece of paper? Look, I guess it's just a commitment to one another. Yeah, right. We knew it was right. And when you're at our age, you know, you're getting midlife and older life. You know what you want.
Starting point is 01:07:58 She's 20 years younger, so she's a bit... I guess she isn't in that stage, I imagine. But I guess you know... But if she's being married to someone same age to Cedric, then I guess, you know, she's been in a relationship for a long time. Oh, thanks for calling Cedric. I mean, it's all that matters is that your family understand. I mean, everyone else doesn't really matter, does it?
Starting point is 01:08:14 And if you're happy and just to go through... And no one's really going to be able to know if they've never been through a situation where they've lost their wife of 34 years. Yeah. That's it. You don't know. You don't know what's behind it. And like we've been married for four years now.
Starting point is 01:08:29 It's been a tremendous marriage. She's had, look, I'm looking after her three kids as well with her. They've kept the men because they were in a state of grief as well. And just because we got married early or got into the roadship early, you don't stop grieving. Like people think, oh, you've moved on, you've stopped grieving. You know, I still grief today. I was with my daughter yesterday and I was still in tears about my wife. So you don't stop grieving just because.
Starting point is 01:08:56 because you find another life partner. It's something I hope I never have to understand. Yeah, yeah, totally. Dan, you sure back down, though. Oh, no, I'd still be haunting the shit out of scenery. Oh, God, if I was his wife, I'd be in there every night. Well, it's something, yeah, I hope we never have to understand. Patty Gower, joining us next.
Starting point is 01:09:11 This is the fucking news. The Clint Meg and Dan podcast. Paddy Gower has issues. It's on three tonight, 7.30, and he discusses peptides, which is fascinating to learn about from the outside, about what these tiny little vials can do for the human body allegedly. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:29 Yeah, I mean, it's pretty incredible. You know, as I said before, I imported these myself from China within five days. Wow. This is Retta, which a lot of people will start to hear about, Reda Trutide. It's a weight loss peptide. But there's a tanning peptide.
Starting point is 01:09:45 There's an injury recovery peptide. Inflammation one. Yeah, Wolverine is the one that regenerates your body, you know, like the character. What? God. Injecting someone called Wolverine into your body doesn't sound good. does it? There's a glow-up peptide that gives you that look of a glow-up.
Starting point is 01:10:00 There's one for your hair strength. There's all sorts of peptides out there now. And how long are you having to say take this for before you have lost the weight or you are tanned enough? Well, no, they kick in pretty quick. I mean, you know, the person that used the retta that I've interviewed in my show tonight
Starting point is 01:10:16 which is on three now as well, you know, she lost 14KGs in something like three months, went from 61 KG down to 44. That's 17 KGs she lost. But, you know, she she shows one of the problems of it in that she didn't actually have a weight problem to begin with, but you can get
Starting point is 01:10:32 access to this drug that can take it away. So the stuff you've explained there all sounds great to me. So what are the drawbacks? There's obviously with this kind of thing we've seen it before, there's always drawbacks, right? Yeah, I mean it's like a cheat code, right? So when you
Starting point is 01:10:48 cheat at something, there's always got to be a consequence or so you think. But I mean they haven't been through their clinical trials, these unapproved medicines. So, Wagoe and all that, you know, they test them on the animals, then they test them on the humans, and they're like, yeah, this is good to go. We know what the side effects are, we know everything, and you can go
Starting point is 01:11:07 through a doctor. This is skipping that process. This hasn't been through that full testing kind of process, but it's now effectively doing that on the global stage. Yeah, I, with no names, know actually a few people that are on peptides, different ones, not weight loss ones. and I know people that have said that it saved their life,
Starting point is 01:11:28 completely changed their lives, ended their inflammation, made them healthier, which I don't want to sit here and put out that sort of messaging to something that's unregulated, but what I don't understand, and I've seen the difference in them. I don't understand why if these things are helping people, why can't we go to the doctor and get it?
Starting point is 01:11:44 Because I'm not a person that will ever, ever put, injects things into myself that I don't know what it is, but I'm watching other people have these incredible results for them, so why aren't the doctors doing it? And I think that is the big question amongst this, because if you look at them closely, you know, people are getting good results from peptides and there's what I would describe as walking advertisements for them here in New Zealand where people are walking around looking amazing or feeling amazing or whatever. And the simple fact is the processes for doctors to be able to prescribe them isn't going to be fast enough to kind of deal with this. They can't just say tomorrow, hey, these are good enough. If someone's taking peptides, are there any legal peptides?
Starting point is 01:12:25 they're all illegal currently? No, so Wago v. In Ozempic are peptides. They're part of the peptides family. And, you know, how they work is they send a message from your brain. So, you know, the weight lost ones say, you're not hungry. You don't need to eat. You know, that suppresses your hunger mechanism.
Starting point is 01:12:41 The tanning one sends a message saying you are tanning. Start tanning. You know, even though you're not in the sun. So they work in the same way. They send messages to the body and the brain of what's happening. So when you ordered those peptides from China and they came over and they're an illegal substance.
Starting point is 01:12:56 You got them in five days. Did you get them because you are Padigawa and you're running a TV show? Or anyone can do that? Anyone can do that. I'll tell you how I did it. I went through a social media ad. I went on to WhatsApp.
Starting point is 01:13:07 I was connected with someone in China and they were here. And I've talked to the MedSafe and Customs at the border. And, I mean, they have intercepted thousands and thousands of these vials this year. I mean, people are doing this now. At the moment, not they are illegal. but no one I can find has actually been done yet. Charged. Yeah, yeah, because it's so, I guess because it's so new.
Starting point is 01:13:33 And also, you're going to be charging some very unusual people to charge because it might be some bloke down in Hamilton who's got a crook knee and has been limping around and wants to get the kids to school without pain. Now, are you really going to go down, charge him, lock him up, you know, do whatever? And if we're talking about thousands of people like that doing it, I mean, the authority's got a problem on that. Can I just ask a question on behalf of Clint? Because I know he won't ask.
Starting point is 01:13:58 How do you get the tanning one? Don't mess with your melanoma. He asked me off here. Yeah, yeah. He wanted the tanning one. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. And I guess we'll find out and Paddy Gower has issues tonight
Starting point is 01:14:15 what the consequences and some of the side effects in that are. But it's interesting because I'm hearing you talk about it and it seems like you're talking about them in quite a positive light. Would that be fair or unfair? fear to... Yeah, I mean, they're hard to talk about because there's a real balance between these.
Starting point is 01:14:30 People are having these amazing results, but at the end of the day, you know, it is a negative thing. Like, people will see the horrifying story of a young lady with body image issues tonight who nearly killed herself on these by losing so much weight because of that addiction to losing weight.
Starting point is 01:14:48 I mean, they are scary. We test them tonight. You don't know what's in them. The testing will show that to New Zealanders. You know, yes, the idea of them and the idea of what comes in the future is good Clint, but the here and now is dangerous and it is scary and be incredibly careful if you're going to do this stuff. It's probably a good place to leave it.
Starting point is 01:15:08 Patty Goa has issues. You want to find out more tonight, 7.30 on three. And if you can't catch it live, you can catch up on three now. Are we not going to clap him? I don't know what they're going to clap, Patty. No, we can go, Patty. Thank you. Want to hear more of Clint, Meg and Dan, but completely unfiltered.
Starting point is 01:15:23 Catch their Overthinkers audio and video pod. Every single day on the Rover app. All wherever you get your pots. Overthinkers. Rover. Music, radio, podcasts.
