This is a podcast from Rover.
This is the Overthinkers podcast.
My belly button's infected.
The, um, the piercing.
Honestly, I just about, I just about threw up on the spot.
What, the piercing doesn't fucking go away.
I just finished food. Jesus, yuck.
What do I mean the, she made me breakfast this morning with an infected belly button.
Oh, that's disgusting.
I didn't fucking touch my belly button and you go, put it in your porridge.
I don't know. I didn't see you make it.
So wait, the hole was just always been.
Don't they close up?
No, well, they do.
But it's still like a little hole.
I don't know what?
Have you got like food or something in there?
I don't know.
I just saw it yesterday.
I was like, oh, that's a bit weird.
How much of a slob is she that she's got?
Who?
I can shower more.
In the tiny hole that should have closed up.
It's shower more than both of you.
I shower twice a day.
Thank you very much.
How big is your hole then?
Let him sit in it.
Tie that up tight.
In your belly button.
Yeah.
Wendy Pummer
Is that nacho mints in your belly with him?
Donga goes, I know what's wrong here.
You got a piece of Dorito in there.
That's what it is.
When did you have Doritos?
Meeks like, a couple of weeks ago.
There's some in here.
Okay, let's do this.
Today on the Overtinkers podcast.
We're overthinking.
How much information do you put about yourself online?
We have been given this new platform of work
called Bob and it's like a social media
I guess platform for those that work here
so that you can jump online
find out about other people that work within the company
what they like, dislike, even their coffee orders
in case you may want to go buy them one and shout them a coffee
to pick them up. And it's all, I love it
it, it's a nice little thing for the company to organise.
I will say this, I've never purchased anyone in this company
at a coffee. Why would I?
I guess it's just a nice thing to do.
I know, but no.
has ever impressed me enough to go,
they deserve a coffee. I've never witnessed
it. Because I'll read it out again
what it says that they want you
to do. So if you join Bob,
then it says
the initiative is initiative. Sorry, I think I always say that wrong.
You always put an extra subtle initiative.
While you're updating your profile, you'll notice
a feel for your favourite coffee order. Fill it in, then brew it forward.
Check out a colleague's coffee order in Bob.
Doesn't even make sense. Brew it forward. What does that even mean?
It doesn't even rhyme with pain.
No, it doesn't. Surprise him with a favourite cupper.
Office made or store bought, rather store bought, if I'm being honest.
Snap a photo together with the coffee that you made them and then post it on Bob.
Take the person that you've treated and then they'll randomly draw one participant to win a $100
prez-card.
I reckon you should enter that because you'll be the only one that fucking entered it.
Yeah, true.
It's like this business just invented Facebook but like 30 years too late.
I mean, there'll be a lot of businesses, especially big businesses like our company
that have this sort of internal social media thing
where you can make friends
and it's just they're dotting some eyes
crossing some T's.
And no one does it except
no. Unless you've got a meek.
The brown nose is like the people that are just like
teachers' pens. So I've searched about
15 people this morning. None of them have put
a profile until I searched
one Meg Mansell.
Goody two shoes. I'm in A class.
So here's what, can we have some music.
Clint or is that all copyright? I can play this one.
Okay. Okay. So you go and
click on Meg's profile.
It says an about thing on the title.
Hi.
I'm Megan.
I love to read, write and do crafts in my very small amount of spare time.
I love to be at home with my husband and daughters and dog.
My cafe order?
Vanilla latte or long black with sugar and cream or turmeric latte with honey in the afternoon.
Pick one because now if I want to buy a coffee, I don't know what I'm getting in.
Okay, well I actually made it very clear, but because he's doing a dumb voice.
It doesn't sound it.
It said an oat vanilla latte.
day or a long black, either or.
And then I said in the afternoons, a tumourate latte.
Yeah, but the long blacks with sugar and cream too much.
And then she's gone in my afternoon pick-up.
My afternoon pick-up snack is...
I'm not a huge fan of afternoon snacking.
But I like chips and dip, probably.
Probably.
If I was the pick-one.
You aren't sure about that.
Probably.
Probably.
In my spare time, you'll find me creating, reading and writing.
Like she's fucking ten.
D.
I haven't got my pen license yet, but I'm working on it.
No, but I look, I take the piss.
They asked you to do it and you did it.
I did it, yeah, I know, and I put a cover photo up.
It's the sunset that I did it on a run.
Meg finds out this whole Bob thing is all bullshit
and me and you have just come up with and got Carl to make the platform.
Okay, Clayton.
We're taking the piss out of Meg, but what would you write about under Clint?
What would you put?
Well, Clint did a little part of his filling in.
He said that he likes to play football and that's it.
You'll find me doing.
If I'm not at work, is he playing football?
So, okay, what would you say about you?
Within, like, a couple of sentences.
I'm a very determined,
also known as stubborn person.
If someone says I can't do something,
then I will go out of my way to prove that I can,
which is why tomorrow I will be creating fire with bamboo
because I got called out and someone said I could.
Then this is going to be like on here for another five years,
and I'll be like, when the fuck did Clint made fire?
What is stupid?
What is a stupid thing to put?
It would say about me, and I say,
I fucking make fire from bamboo.
Oh, I'm not buying him a coffee.
No.
He sounds like a fucking good.
Okay, by the way, while we're on that,
just because tomorrow morning at 8.30,
I've got 19 minutes before the show ends to make fire with bamboo and a knife.
100% chance, 0% chance.
Where are we on the sliding scale of your belief in my ability to achieve that?
I want to be the supportive friend that says that you'll do it.
I do.
I really do.
but I don't think
I think you're going to get stressed
and you're going to overthink it
and I think you won't get there
because you'll get all stressed.
Yeah, there's going to be a lot of smoke
I think you've got about
45% chance.
That's like a coin flip.
Yeah.
It's not bad odds.
It's probably like roulette odds.
I'll put it in this way.
I won't be the surprised either way.
I'm leaving.
No, I see what you're saying.
If he does it, we'll be like,
course he fucking did.
Yeah.
And if he doesn't do it, I'll be like, of course he didn't.
Yeah.
Yeah, but I think if I had to bet,
if I had to bet, if I had to put money
on either way, I'd say he's not going to do it.
I'm sorry, Clip. If you ask someone
that listens to this pod, but you also do listen live,
you can win a thousand bucks from the boss if I actually
do do it. We need to work out how we're going to give that away.
Is it like $1,000 to like one person or like, did 10 people get
100 bucks? Yeah, we're going to have, well, yeah, true.
I mean, we could do 10, 100 bucks
and then we can get them to give you some encouragement, maybe.
And maybe that we're getting your head.
I mean, we shouldn't prep the show on the podcast, but if you'd like to.
Yeah, and who's buying the, the, the,
me an outfit that you...
That's already been ordered by Carl,
but he's got to cut off a little bit of the leg
because we want to...
No, it's already...
You've shown me it.
It's already super short.
It's not short enough.
It's not short enough.
We need some sort of our eye candy
for the live stream.
I want the panic of,
are we going to see a ball?
I want to feel that.
Yeah.
And you know what?
It's a flammable costume as well,
so you have to really...
We could get into a sausage sizzle
if we're not careful.
Hmm.
Hmm.
So anyway.
Okay.
Right.
saw this online the other day and I've been practicing it over the last week or so and I went,
I'm going to go a little deep here and say I've been talking to a therapist recently over the last
month and I brought it up with her because I feel like I can be a little bit negative sometimes
and she showed me a thing that was online about complimenting people and how if you compliment
other people and notice good things that they're doing in their life, the act of complimenting them
can bring your mood up.
Oh, my daughter does that all the time
because she always thinks things.
I should tell them.
So she'll randomly...
You imagine an 11-year-old girl
coming up to you if you're in Kmart?
And she goes, I love your dress.
Because then you're like, kids don't lie.
The greatest compliments are from, I feel like, children.
For some reason, African-American woman.
I honestly think that they have a great opinion and taste.
And that's probably it.
I think those are the two greatest compliments.
It may be a grandparent.
If it was a group of 17-year-old girls.
You'd be like, are they being sarcastic?
Are they teasing me?
I don't know.
Yeah.
And so I've been practicing it just, I've messaged, I'm not going to say her because it's embarrassing,
but I've messaged a couple of people in the media that I don't know, no, but I look up to just saying, I love your work.
And so I thought we could all now call someone in our lives and just compliment them.
I'm going to randomly make someone down.
Okay, fine, I'll do it because I want to give a compliment.
But I need to know who it is.
Don't just ring a random person.
Don't you think this is nice, Me?
Yeah, I like compliments.
Yeah, I think a compliment, whether it be on a podcast or not, is a lovely thing.
Okay.
To do.
I got one.
Okay.
Tell me who it is, though, first.
There's not a guessing game.
No, I'll dial the number.
Okay.
And then when it's ringing.
Their name will probably pop up anyway.
Okay.
Does it someone that the listeners will know?
Yeah.
Okay.
I think so.
Who we call them?
Oh.
For fuck so.
That's just stupid.
Hello Megan speaking.
Hi, Megan.
Hi, Megan.
Hey, Dan.
How are you, my darling?
I'm just, it's just Dan calling.
This is so stupid.
Your fucking idea.
You said you wanted someone.
Yeah, but I wouldn't have been called.
I didn't tell this to Megan the studio.
In the audience, no.
I'm sorry, Meg, this is a bit weird for you.
Sorry, Dan, I'm fighting.
Dan, I don't know what's going on.
Yeah.
I just wanted to call and say, I think you do a great job.
Doing a really good job.
A great job at what?
Specifically.
You're just your work in general.
I think you obviously have some very, um,
obvious things
that
you know
can handicap you
but you seem to push
you.
Excuse me
no this is stupid
see if you're not
going to take your own
stupid
fucking seriously
no
because you guys are not taking it seriously
yeah
she has things
for handicapped
you said I'm handicapped
court no
I just meant that
you know
there's a lot of people
do a job and I think that you
do a great job even though
here we go you want to call someone?
Yeah
Oh for fuck sake
Oh god now it's doing
into some sort of like warfare
It should I didn't want it to be this
It's a nice thing, Dan, be nice
Yeah okay well then Meg you're the only one that hasn't done it
No I'm not doing it
Okay Dan round two
Who's my calling?
Wendy the CEO
No
Okay I'm not thinking
No
because I don't think she's doing a good job
No I do think she is
Okay, I'll call it for Meg
Who could we call?
I've got someone.
Of course he does.
It's all pre-planned.
Who am I going to be talking to?
Look at him.
Who would it be?
Who would it be?
Who would be?
He doesn't have your ex-boyfriend's numbers, does he?
No.
No, it will be somebody.
Who would it be?
I don't know.
I'll be somebody from a different session probably.
Yeah, Dan's got a bunch of weird contacts from him when he produced for like 40 years.
Oh, do you want me to call like someone at someone?
from the
someone else
that big might know
No,
do something I know
and just put the number
in that you had
fucking planned
come on
I'm in a good mood
clearly
I'm ready to go
She wants to push
her great mood
onto someone else
and bless them
He's changing his mind now
No
No
Who were you going to do
Okay
Put them in
It's taking too long
I'm not doing it
You've ruined
It's on you
It's done
See you later
No
I'm calling my
friend Chris.
Oh yeah, I'll talk to him.
My best friend.
He won't answer.
I don't know what I'll compliment him about.
The fact that he's managed to stay friends with you for a fucking decade is...
Yeah, the charity.
The charity, eh, on the man.
I hope he doesn't give any money to any other companies because being Dan's friend is charitable enough.
Honestly, man, are you punching them in like...
I can't multitask.
It's dialing now.
Shit.
An hour.
God, you pushed me into this corner.
I was the one that was wanting to just do some nice compliment to the people in the workplace.
But then why didn't you call somebody in the workplace?
Why don't have you a friend?
I've never fucking needed.
Because I don't have numbers of people in the workplace.
They touch you a lot.
I don't know any one's number around here.
What is wrong with the ring on this?
We lives in New York.
He doesn't answer.
This has been a fucking shambles.
Wow.
And who could we blame?
Hmm.
The press.
Oh, fuck sake.
All right.
Well, then no one gets a fucking.
compliment. You guys are all fucked.
I'm sick of the shit.
Why don't you just compliment me and Meg while we're here?
There's nothing to fucking compliment you about.
You're a couple of negative fucking poo-pooers that poo-poo ideas and a pooing fucking poo.
You are having a stroke.
You've gone full circle.
Keep your ear cleaned out.
I'm giving a stroke in a minute.
That's a compliment.
I am going to act for that.
