This is the Overthinkers podcast.
Hi-da, welcome.
We've just been having a little bit of fun behind the scenes
before recording this podcast.
Does anyone else play this game with their friends?
When you get them on the hook,
thinking that you've got something that they want,
and you go, yeah, I'll grab it for you.
And then as you fondle around into your bag,
trying to find it, you come up,
and as you stand up, you just flip them the bird
and give them the fingers.
Dan does it to me often.
It's the best.
I do it to Hannah my wife sometimes as well.
But it's the best when they're, like,
really keen on it.
So their face is like, oh my God, you're giving me a voucher for my favorite restaurant.
And then you just pull out the finger.
A lot of the time it's, I'm like, oh, man, I'm starving.
And Dan will go, oh, I've got, I actually brought some extra rice cakes.
Did you like one?
Yeah, I'm not hungry because I had a big breakfast.
So they go, oh, Dad, I'd love that.
Thank you.
He pulls me the fingers.
And he realized, not only do they not have the thing you wanted, but you've been absolutely duped.
Yeah.
And why do you always fall for it?
Because I trust you boys implicitly and I still see the best in you.
I don't know why.
It does make me think.
I do think I'm actually smart until those moments
because then I go, how have you not learned?
That'll be one day, I think that'll be your downfall.
Maybe you'll trust some scumbag, you know,
and he'll go come and get into the back of my car,
I'll drive you to the hotel from the airport.
I'm far too trusting, way too trusting.
And you get in there and he takes you for all your worth.
Takes all your money.
Oh, it's all you mean.
Well, at the moment, it's a payday.
You'll know how much money are.
Oh, he's not going to do that to me.
And don't do that noise.
Well, why wouldn't a guy want to do that to you?
Because I don't want to get sexually assaulted.
Oh, okay.
Obviously not in the back.
situation that Dan painted.
Yeah, oh, the bad situation.
Yeah.
No, he's just, he's just a fraudster.
Oh, right.
Okay, okay.
Well, he's got to, all I'm worth right now, $15, $18.
18 or 80?
18.
Both are bad.
It's not even an Uber fair.
No, I wouldn't bother kidnapping you.
And then even then, once you've kidnapped you.
Oh, God, I'd moan.
I'd be like, oh, God, I'd moan.
I've got some rice cakes.
Oh, wrong, mine.
My bad.
Jesus God.
Honestly, fucking hell.
Okay, how much is in your banking account before you get paid?
funny because that girl said you're not funny.
No, I'm not trying to do that. I just stick to your
lane and push some buttons. Clint hasn't gotten laid
in a couple of days, I reckon. Yeah, Mel said this
about me yesterday, Meanie. But also a little
anti-and-good compliment for the rest of you
is Clint, you're the least funny.
So the other tour, way funnier.
So the idea...
The idea tomorrow is we're going to get Mel back on.
Oh, God. No, we tried. I played her my funniest
stuff from today and she didn't love. We're going to get her
back on, aren't we, Meg? And we're going to give Clint two
minutes. You and I'll leave. Because I think we...
We'll be distracting and he doesn't want the other funny too in the room when he's trying to be funny.
So what we'll do is we'll leave and it'll just be you and Mal.
So what I want to do this morning is we're going to practice.
So I'm going to leave.
Do I'm going to leave.
Do I stay?
Meg, you're playing Mal.
Okay, great.
And so my anguish.
I'm not trying not to laugh or I, okay.
No, don't try not to laugh.
But I think at the same time, don't be open to laughing.
And if he genuinely makes you laugh, give it to him.
But don't go, I'm just not going to laugh.
Give me, see, I have to turn off my, like,
I automatically every day when I walk into the room
have to go, now remember, you're meant to laugh at the boys' jokes.
So I have to, like, act that.
So let me just switch that off.
I don't know. You said that, so that's a bit of a kick in the guts for me as well.
Anyway.
Okay.
Yeah.
Right.
Okay.
So I'm just going to pretend I'm not here.
This is going to be funny for everyone else except Meg.
No, because you are, Clint, be honest, Meg.
I will.
He's a funny, isn't he?
He's a funny man.
Like, the amount of times he makes us laugh behind the scene.
It's just when the deters.
I'm off here funny.
Which isn't helpful.
No, you have some singers.
I can't think going off the top of my head, like recently.
But I mean, I'm joking.
No, he has some singers.
Ready?
Okay.
You're leaving?
I'll just sit away.
Oh, okay.
I don't want to react and throw you all.
Okay.
Why did the baker have brown hands?
We're not doing this one.
Look, he's already told it to me.
It's because he was holding a shit or something.
Can I go whiz?
He wasn't holding a shit.
It was needing to poo.
I told you not to do that one.
He was needing a poo.
I told him.
He's even stuffed up the punchline.
He was needing the...
Another one.
No, me, don't leave.
No, no.
He needed a poo.
I'm nervous.
Okay, that's the one.
I'm going to have it said now
as Ballaro Webgirl listening,
that's the one we're clipping up
for the highlight.
I told you, Meg won't like it
because she's already heard it,
but anyone who hasn't heard it,
I think that's funny.
I really like that one.
Yeah, why did the bake have brown hands?
Okay, give it another go.
Come on.
Meg, you're still here.
I'll all time for two minutes.
You've got two minutes to make Megglo.
Okay.
fine okay okay
man was at the beach
and he saw an ice cream truck pull up
and he thought oh I could murder an ice cream right now
so he waits for the sign to go out
and then he goes up to the truck
and he says what kind of flavors have you got
and she points to the sign and he reads it and says ice cream
all flavors
and he goes well you can't have all flavors
and she just points at the sign
so he thinks for a bit and then he goes
I'll have a vagina flavor
she goes one scoop or two
I'll have a double
she goes him a double
hands in the vagina ice cream on the cone
he goes back to his towel
and then he sits down
he goes oh I'm going to enjoy this
and he goes
oh yuck
he goes back to the truck and he goes
I ask for vagina and this tastes like shit
and she goes
yeah you're taking too big of licks
Meg not somebody
you're not trying to make me laugh
yeah we would
wrong gag.
No, your audience.
You've still got a minute.
I have to admit what?
I'm not funny.
I'm not funny.
You got a minute to make me laugh.
Oh, a minute.
I thought he said I had to admit it.
No, no.
He's still got to a minute to make me laugh.
He's not trying.
He's going to fart.
It's not Friday.
No, he can't even do it.
My body won't do it.
You've got 30 seconds.
You've got to pull something out of the bag.
Um,
and one time I saw Dan naked.
Don't love that.
That's not even the.
punchline Meg.
You can't think that.
I've made it laugh there.
She's just imagining it.
It turns out he's got
two innies.
It's bellybutton and his
you know.
Yeah, don't explain it.
I think it is doing.
Yeah, right.
Okay, good.
Oh, well, yeah.
Anyway.
Oh, that's going to go well tomorrow with Mal.
Yes.
I didn't quite like that ice cream one though.
That was funny.
Well, thanks.
That was good.
Thanks.
Yeah.
I mean, it's kind of stay.
Yeah, not for female.
Women don't like it as much as guys.
And what is Mel?
Mel is right.
A woman.
She's a woman.
She's a woman.
I'm not funny.
Like, fucking gosh.
That's right.
She's a woman, so I need to think of jokes that she'll like.
Not like poo jokes and vagina.
Yeah.
I'm just read a story.
Can we move on?
Should we move on a little bit?
Let's try and clean things up.
Because I just read a story.
It's a New Zealand story as well.
Someone's done a survey.
And I love a survey.
Do you love a survey?
Whenever I see a survey, I go, I'll read that.
I love a survey too.
No matter what it's about.
Yeah, no, I love a survey.
I like going, I want to see.
And I go, where do I sit?
Yeah, but you know the dumbest ones is when you're like, wow, that's cool.
And they go, yeah, we surveyed 160 people.
I know.
From our office or something.
Yeah, I know.
No, I like at least a thousand people.
At least a thousand.
Yeah, and that's bare minimum.
I don't know how many people have been surveyed in this one, but they've said public transport survey
of the most popular seat on the bus.
Now, I used to catch the bus when I was at school.
I used to catch the H-O-3
and we used to go from Whitford
where I lived to school.
And the cool kids
always sat at the back.
Yeah.
Didn't they?
And I never got to the point.
Best seats at the front though.
Well, funny you say that
because the most popular seat
and the best seat
of all these people surveyed
was the one opposite the driver
at the front of the bus.
I wish you would ask me that
because I would have absolutely said that.
In fact, I wrote a little like kids story was.
I have a kid story
that I wrote that
says she picked the best seat in the bus,
the one opposite the driver in the front seat.
I have it, I could get it right now with my Google Doc.
Because you don't get car sick and you're not right behind his head.
Because you've got the Paris view.
You see where you're going, no one in your way.
You've got a big window.
But honestly, but the...
And you get to people watch everyone that gets on.
I would say that's...
Get off first.
The fact that you've gone, because they don't get car sick makes it uncool.
Because you go, oh God, the only reason they're sitting there is because they get car sick.
What a loser.
Send me to the back.
It's not a loser thing to get car sick.
No, I know it's not.
But in fact, I don't.
get car sick sometimes, but I'm just saying it's
not cool, is it too? It is a flecks, though.
It is a flecks. If you don't get car sick, you can read
a book or something. Oh, my wife does that.
She'd check all the long trips. I'm just
going to check an email, and then she won't have phones
like half an hour, reading. Not getting sick at all.
No, I'm like window down, starting
to like, you know... You know what pisses
me off on buses nowadays as well, and the new buses
I very really catch the bus, because
I'm, you know, I'm not a public transport guy.
But I, the ones where the buses,
they have the seats facing backwards.
Why? There's no reason
They do it on trains.
And now I've got to stare at a stranger in the eyes.
Yeah, but also as well, like, put them forward.
Everybody, like, just mitigate the car sick people and just put them all facing towards.
I think it's for a group of four or kids or something.
Yeah, or for wheelchairs.
Because then if they're going that way, there's more footroom so then you can have a wheelchair in the middle.
I was on a bus the other day, and there was like half the bus was facing backwards, and half the bus was facing towards.
No, I think you can sit, like obviously facing each other, but if there's someone in a wheelchair,
then they can just kind of go straight into that spot without being in the floor.
Sorry.
Is it one of those ones that you can flip them back and forth?
No.
Oh, they stuck like that.
Yeah, there was a few sideways facing across the aisle.
I hate those ones.
There was a few backwards.
And I think actually the bare minimum were facing forwards.
It was weird.
I haven't been on one.
You know, actually, you know, the last time I think I was on one was probably
Electric Gav and Crushich when we ended up hosting like, it was more of a party bus,
just picking people up for free and taking into an electric gave, just cranking tunes.
We got, me and Daisy gone on the bus a bit.
I went on the train the other day, the city rail Lincoln, Auckland, it's just open.
I'm going this weekend.
And I went in a huff because I'm a bit like, why do we need it?
You know, I'm a bit like, what, another train?
Oh, do we need trains?
I think we need other stuff.
I think we need other stuff.
What do we need?
More than the city rail.
I think we need a bridge crossing, like an under bridge crossing.
What is an under bridge crossing?
Well, you know, instead like an alternative to the harbour bridge.
So how do you tell me exactly that?
Do you mean a tunnel?
Yeah, a tunnel, like a thing that goes under the water.
You want to make it underwater chutz and then are we not using a train and we walk in that?
Oh, no.
they'd be also a train option within that.
Oh, so you do like trains?
Because there's no trains across to the north shore of Auckland, is there?
So you do like trains.
That's why he doesn't like them?
No, I just think, no, I do like trains.
I think trains are great, but I just don't know if the city rail link was the great one to do first.
Anyway, that's just me.
But I went in there in a half.
I went going, I've got to hate this, and I bloody loved it.
I loved it.
The train came quickly.
You've got train energy.
I don't understand why you would be a thing.
You would not like a train.
I did love it.
If it was like, Megan, a million dollars.
Does Dan, like.
trains. I'd be like, yes. I love trains.
Trains are one of my favorite things. I just don't know
about the city rail link situation.
Because you even want to drive them. No, I love
a train. Do you know when you see those
things on social media and it'll be like, right, you get given
$50 million, but you have to choose
somebody that will react in this exact
way, in this exact situation. Who are you
choosing? Yeah, like if
somebody, if you had friends that would laugh
if you fell over before helping you,
who would you choose? Yeah, I think
if you chose Dan or I. Yeah,
I'd be pretty much. Probably pretty safe to win the
money.
Yeah.
I have a real bad knack for laughing when people hurt themselves.
Yeah, same.
It's really bad.
It's like a reaction that I don't even mean it to happen.
It's horrible.
It's horrible thing about me.
Oh, it is.
Delicious sometimes when they like fall down the stairs or something.
Oh my God.
I'm laughing.
Just thinking about it.
If Dan fell over right now and he, oh God.
It's so bad.
You should have done this to me, Glenn.
And he, and he's wearing a leather jacket.
He's wearing a leather jacket.
And he turns to the girls in the office and goes, how you doing?
And then falls down the stairs.
It's not even that.
He could just fall.
And he goes, oh God, I've really fucked my knee.
I just can't.
And he goes, no me, please serious.
You know, it really makes me laugh.
It's when someone falls over and pretends they're okay.
You know, they'll get up and go, I'm right, I'm right.
Clearly they're not.
Oh, that makes me fun.
Oh, God, that's really cracking me up.
That's really made my day.
Oh, well.
Thinking about that.
Good to know that you want to see me in pain, so that's not.
I don't know why.
It's a really bad, it's a nasty trait.
Yeah.
Because even my best girlfriends once I made me, my friend Hannah,
fell over in Sylvia Park.
and she was in problem.
Oh my God.
You're quite empathetic, so this goes against your brand.
I don't know what happens.
I don't know what happens.
And I'm not trying to put on the laughter.
It's something that bubbles.
I don't know if it's a nervous thing.
It's really bizarre.
You need to follow the page.
Kids getting hurt on Instagram.
I hate that.
I would hate looking at kids are getting hurt.
I don't know why it's something that happens to me
when I'm in the situation of I should be helping them.
The only reason why it's funny to watch kids getting hurt on Instagram
is that all the videos are suburb.
admitted by the parents.
And then the caption is always like,
he was fine or she was fine.
She dusted himself off.
So you know,
it's not like the kid
has any long-lasting injuries,
even though he somehow managed
to scorpion himself off the trampoline.
Imagine me in this situation.
I was reminiscing this with a friend of mine recently.
And I think to this day,
it's the most I've ever laughed
at someone else's expense.
We went to wireware to hot pools
when it was open.
It's closed now.
I think it, although it's being reopened.
I've heard that.
Yeah, there's a new investor that's opening it.
Anyway,
we'd both gone down.
I can't remember one of the slides.
It's my friend Nick.
I love him to bit.
And I've gone down first.
Oh God, it's going to kill me.
And it's been brilliant.
It was, I loved it and splashed it and came out.
I'm sitting at the edge of the pool waiting for him to come out.
Oh, God, he's going to kill me.
And it was, he was taking much longer than I thought.
And then all of a sudden, he pops out with no pants on.
Bear ass.
And from one point from the top of the tiger slide to the bottom, he'd lost his pants.
And so he's landed.
His pants didn't come out.
So his pants were stuck up the hydra slide, and he was not easy.
So all I saw it, because it was such a fast slide.
How does that happen?
The gravity's pushing them up his body, not away.
He'd gone face first down.
Ah, idiot.
Yeah.
And so it was a twister, so you go around and round around.
A green one.
And so the fun, I remember bending, like, curled over laughing.
Because he's sitting in the pool.
And this is at school.
So, like, can you imagine the fucking embarrassment?
And so he's crouched in the pool covering his part of it.
I'm waiting.
Damn,
get my shorts.
Someone from
wire to hot pools
to go and get them
some special
like branded
whiteweder shorts
so he could put them on.
Oh, fuck.
Honestly,
did you pull him out?
No,
no,
I left him as long.
He was in there.
I think that actually closed the slide
because you had to vacate
the pool at the bottom.
So they had to close the slide
and be like,
no one else down this man
pants to the pool.
If I saw Dan go down
just like,
let me and you are on
some sort of holidays together.
We're sitting there.
We're like,
Dan, we're waiting for Dan.
He's going to go down.
And we see,
fucking ass can fly.
And then he'd be angry.
There's no way I get him pants.
Oh, I'd be pissed off.
He'd be good, guys,
and the more he yells.
He's not funny.
He's not funny.
You guys, seriously now.
And the more, the angry he gets,
the angry against the more we would laugh.
There's no way I'm leaving
and going to the shop to buy you a year.
You get, honestly, don't.
You could offer me.
This is sad because it's actually like,
I've lost my pants now.
That were good pants.
Dan could offer me $500 cash to go and buy him dogs
and it still wouldn't be worth it for the moment
but I would miss leaving.
Oh, God.
Oh, God, I wouldn't survive it.
Oh, it was such a great day.
I remember it very fondly.
Speaking of this, I think I sent you boys,
I laugh for about a day speaking,
and I sent you a message there is a new show of,
can you survive the apocalypse?
If there was an apocalypse, they put you in it
as if it was a real apocalypse,
and you're in a town, there's no food,
there's no electricity, there's no water,
it's as if an apocalypse has happened,
and you go on with your friends or a partner or something,
and you see how long you survive,
and there was one man who went to,
with his friend and he had to make a bucket
to shit in. And
she had to stand outside the door
and I messaged the boys and I said
I physically would not survive this
if Dan was angry yelling at me
to leave because he had to shit in a bucket
on a show. I think I'd die of constipation.
I know. If I was locked
in a house with you two in a faux apocalypse
and I had to shit in a bucket, I'd go I'd rather
die. I'd rather die.
I had a mate I took camping and he didn't
want to use the toilet and he didn't tell us
and he didn't shit for 18.
wouldn't.
My anus would not allow it.
It's not, no, it would have to go.
I would, my brain would be going, Dan, you need to shit.
And my anus would be talking back to my brain going, no, you'd hold my beer.
It'd be going, you're not having it.
Is that out yet?
Can we watch that show?
I really want to, would it?
What was it called?
Was it called the apocalypse or something?
Were they teasing it?
It was like Amazon Prime, I think, or something.
It was about, it wasn't on one of Netflix or something.
I tried watching that Willy Wonka one where people are put in, no, don't bother.
Oh, really?
That was terrible.
It looked, the trailer and it looked epic
It almost looks, and I don't know if it was
But it almost looks like it's not real
You know, like it's
They're all actors
No, no, no, like
I don't know, I just found it very fake
Oh like when they do, is it cake
And they got all those Americans
That acts like real over the top
And everybody's over the top
And I don't know
Flores lava contestants
Like those guys
Because it had such potential to be awesome
But I didn't rate it
Oh they didn't cast it well
It's unfortunately
You can only watch it in the UK
I've just seen some clips online.
Damn, I think it'll be really funny to do New Zealand.
I think of all the reality shows,
Kiwis would actually do really well and being funny in that.
Yeah.
Yeah, and either that or we'd die in the first three days
that'd have to drag us out.
God, we'd have a laugh, doing it.
We'd be laughing.
If I had to watch Dan and try and even make it, like fire.
Like Clint, thank God we know we have you to make fire.
Or if Dad had to try and hunt something
with a little homemade bowed era,
I'd face off.
But you know if they cast a New Zealand one,
it'd just be Chris Parker and Rose Manky.
Yeah, it's always comedians.
We never get to look at him.
Dan goes out hunting and comes back screaming and crying
because he's been dive bombed by magpies.
Pissed off.
She's already laughing.
He'd be pissed off because he'd be hungry.
Why didn't these die in the apocalypse?
Oathinkers.
